The vision was to create an intimate and elegant celebration that felt timeless and refined — from the ceremony to the reception. For the ceremony, the design featured a sophisticated setup with two floral pillars framing the altar, creating a stunning yet understated focal point. Along the aisle, delicate floral arrangements were placed on the floor, adding texture and color without overpowering the natural beauty of the surroundings. The overall look was clean, romantic, and gracefully minimal, letting the florals and soft yellow palette shine. For the reception, two long rectangular tables served as head tables for the guests, complemented by a sweetheart table exclusively for the couple. Soft pastel yellow runners draped elegantly to the floor, adding a touch of understated luxury to the tablescape. The ambiance glowed with pillar candles in glass cylinders, taper candles in delicate holders, and hurricanes that cast a warm, romantic light across the space. Between the candles, clusters of yellow and white blooms added texture and freshness. The tablescape was illuminated by a soft glow of candles in various heights — pillar and taper — in shades of yellow and ivory, creating a warm, romantic ambiance. Each place setting featured beige plates from the venue, layered with yellow-and-white napkins that draped elegantly between them. Gold-accented menus and table numbers added a subtle touch of luxury, while handmade place cards crafted by the bride herself gave every seat a personal, heartfelt detail.

The celebration took place by the poolside, where candlelight reflected off the shimmering water. One of the most memorable moments came when Kedrian surprised Shana by singing a song just for her, a tender gesture that had everyone in tears. Later, he shared a touching dance with the bride’s mother — a moment that perfectly captured the warmth, connection, and joy that defined this unforgettable celebration.[/field]

One of the most meaningful and visually striking moments of Shana & Kedrian’s celebration was the incorporation of a hand-crafted broom that honored their shared heritage and celebrated the beginning of their married life together. Rooted in West African and African-diaspora traditions, the so-called “jumping the broom” ceremony is a symbolic act that represents sweeping away the past, cleansing old chapters, and stepping into a new life together. At the ceremony, with one broom placed just behind the couple and held by the maid of honor and the groomsman, Shana and Kedrian faced the altar, turned, and jumped together over that broom — marking the moment they formally crossed the threshold into their shared future. Following the jump, they were pronounced husband and wife, sealed their union with a kiss, and made their triumphant exit together. It was a visual and emotional highlight — not just a photo-op, but a ritual deeply tied to identity, culture, and intention. The broom became a keepsake of their promise, their roots, and their joyful leap forward.

Elegant, dreamy, whimsical. Our wedding took place in the French countryside, just two hours from our home in Paris. The weekend began with a Friday welcome dinner at Simon’s family’s maison de campagne, complete with horse-drawn carriage rides and local cider. On Saturday, our ceremony and reception took place at Château des Feugerets, a 16th-century castle in the region. Brunch on Sunday was also at the château. Spending an entire weekend celebrating with all the people we love in one place was pure magic.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]We were on vacation in Milos, Greece, when Simon said he’d planned dinner—but instead of a restaurant, the taxi dropped us at a tiny port where a man was waiting to take us to a beach only accessible by boat. When he left, we were alone as far as the eye could see. Simon laid out a picnic he had brought from a local taverna, and then asked me to marry him. We swam, ate, and drank wine until the boat returned, and the driver—who had been in on it the whole time—was grinning ear to ear. We still joke that Simon would have left me stranded on that beach if I’d said no.[/field]

As someone who works in the fashion industry, the gowns were especially meaningful to me. For our Friday night welcome, I wore Jacquemus’s “Robe Draggiu” from his FW ‘22 collection, paired with Castañer espadrilles and Pacharee keshi pearl earrings. For the wedding day, Printemps Mariage helped me source my dream Danielle Frankel gown—an off-the-shoulder silhouette with a low back and elongated sleeves that felt timeless and modern at once. I wore it with low Charles & Keith heels and an Oscar de la Renta veil, sent by a close friend as my “something borrowed.” For the afterparty, I changed into a short red Giambattista Valli x H&M dress I had purchased years earlier after interviewing Mr. Valli. It was a bold choice, but the perfect one for dancing late into the night.

Before the ceremony, guests were welcomed with Champagne and lemonade, while cocktail hour featured summery signature drinks—an Elderflower Spritz and a Mojito—alongside passed hors d’oeuvres and stations serving oysters, foie gras, and crêpes. Dinner began with a stuffed tomato, followed by a choice of duck confit or roasted salmon.

Our floral design was inspired by the wedding art my friend Rachelle Cunningham painted for us. I shared it with Cassia of Be One Paris, who brought it to life in fresh flowers, adding a touch of deep purple and an abundance of orchids. We also carried the artwork into details such as the menus, table numbers, cocktail napkins, and custom matchbooks. The overall décor drew from the romance of our venue—a 16th-century castle in Normandy—and its surrounding countryside, creating a look that felt both lush and elegant.

When we arrived at the afterparty, it was literally aflame: covered in sparklers and topped with a very questionable bride-and-groom figurine. To this day, we still have no idea where it came from! What could have been a disaster became one of the night’s funniest moments.[/field]

Our ceremony was deeply personal. My brother and Simon’s sister co-officiated, he in English, hshein French, while my nieces and nephews were our flower girls and ring bearer. Friends read scripture and a poem by e. e. cummings, and Simon’s aunt—who makes violins—arranged for a musician to play the cello. At dinner, Simon’s father and my mom gave heartfelt speeches. Having our people so involved made the whole day feel intimate and joyful.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Our Welcome Dinner: We hosted our welcome event on Friday at Simon’s family’s house in Normandy. The setting is straight out of a fairy tale. We skipped a seated dinner in favor of a relaxed evening where everyone could mingle and get to know one another. We even had our neighbor, who owns To Biguine, arrive with his Percheron-horse-drawn carriage to take guests up the hill for the most breathtaking sunset view. It was the perfect start to the weekend.[/field]

Our First Dance: In the weeks leading up to the wedding, we took dance lessons with Marc Reed, a fellow American in Paris—and it was the best idea. Amid all the planning and details, having an hour to do something new together was pure fun. Our song was You Send Me by Aretha Franklin, and our friends and family went absolutely mad for the choreography, shouting and hollering. It set the tone for the night and set off a dance party that lasted into the early hours.

An Italian Holiday-Inspired Wedding with Lush Tropical Details

With the reception set among banana trees, the color palette and floral arrangements naturally evolved into a lush, tropical-inspired celebration.

The design reflects the character of the space—we always strive to honor the venue rather than change it. As a company, we believe that when people travel far to experience Italy, the decor should highlight its beauty. The lake became the natural focal point and backdrop, while the bride’s infectious joy inspired a vibrant take on the Italian dolce vita. With no shade in the area, we embraced a playful trend of umbrellas to evoke the feeling of an Italian holiday. Every detail, from table linens to florals, was curated to create the illusion that the tables were already part of the space, seamlessly blending design with the surroundings.

In the summer of 2023, Peyton and I both found ourselves back in Atlanta after years away. He had just returned from Boston, where he completed his internal medicine residency, and I had moved back from Columbus after finishing occupational therapy school. Dating in your late twenties can feel discouraging, and after a string of uninspiring dates, I was ready to give up. That’s when my sister and brother-in-law—Hinge success stories themselves—encouraged me to give online dating another try. Having tried it before in Ohio, I was hesitant, but they insisted that upgrading to Hinge+ would make all the difference. Like many brides, I turned to Pinterest for inspiration before my bridal appointments. Heading into dress shopping, I was certain of two things: I did not want lace, and I did not want a strapless gown. Two boutiques and twelve dresses later, I found myself standing in Anne Barge Atelier, certain I had discovered the one. To my surprise, she was both strapless and adorned with lace. The Rhodes gown perfectly embodied my vision of timeless elegance. The gown was perfected by the addition of a detachable train, offering two distinct looks without the need for a formal outfit change.

From Mackenzie: Seated beside my husband at the head of the table, we watched as the staff of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo presented freshly baked pizzas to begin the evening feast. To our left, the sun dipped gracefully behind Lake Como, casting a golden glow across the water. The Bopster Blues wandered through the garden, filling the air with quintessential Italian melodies, while the table shimmered under the soft glow of candles and café lights, illuminating a breathtaking array of flowers. All around us, guests mingled joyfully, savoring delicate Italian bites and sipping local wines—a scene that felt like a dream brought to life. A particularly happy moment from the day: Immediately after the ceremony, we slipped away aboard a classic Riva Aquarama—courtesy of Yacht Club Eriolario, whom we cannot recommend highly enough—for a series of breathtaking photos and, unexpectedly, a few precious moments alone as newlyweds. While our guests settled into happy hour, serenaded by the Bopster Blues with chilled Aperol spritzes in hand, we found ourselves gliding across the water, savoring the quiet and the beauty of Lake Como. That brief escape gave us something invaluable: time to breathe, reflect, and simply revel in each other’s company on our most special day. Any advice we’d give to other couples planning their wedding: Wedding planning doesn’t have to be stressful! Every couple has titsown style and vision, but finding a planner early in the process—someone who truly understands your dream and is committed to bringing it to life—can make all the difference. Knowing that Danila and her team were working tirelessly behind the scenes gave us the freedom to be fully present—both throughout our engagement and on our wedding day. Their venue, Troutbeck, unfolded across a stunning 18th-century estate that set a timeless backdrop. With guidance from their planner, Jessica embraced bold, fresh design ideas. “The result was everything we hoped for — fun, light, and summery, but still elevated and sophisticated,” the couple explained.

When Jessica and Josh first met, they were both working at a PR firm in New York. Jess’s team was moved, placing her cubicle directly across from Josh’s. They quickly became office friends and, before long, each other’s office crush. After a few months, Josh finally worked up the courage to ask her out for a drink, and the rest is history. While living in Park Slope, they grew to love their morning walks through Prospect Park. One sunny Saturday in December, Josh suggested they head out for their usual loop. Behind the scenes, he had coordinated with both of their parents to meet them in the park, where he proposed. After spending the morning celebrating with their families, they drove to Wildflower Farms for the weekend to soak in the joy of being newly engaged.

The vision was to create a classic spring wedding on Kiawah Island that felt elegant, natural, and true to the couple’s style. They wanted the design to complement the surrounding landscape—rolling greens, ocean breezes, and soft Lowcountry light without overpowering it. Servers offered melon skewers with prosciutto and mint, ahi tuna tartare on crisp cucumber with sesame seeds and wasabi aioli, and braised Italian-style meatballs, alongside warm Vidalia onion and mushroom tarts and perfectly seared scallops topped with tomato bacon jam. As everyone moved into the tent for dinner, the seated portion of the evening began with a refined first course duo: a comforting roasted corn chowder layered with local blue crab and finished with chili oil, paired with a fresh baby spinach salad topped with sliced eggs, applewood-smoked bacon lardons, mushrooms, grape tomatoes, and a sweet-and-sour poppy seed dressing. For the second course, guests enjoyed an entree duo that beautifully balanced land and sea. A delicate seared seabass filet, served with seasoned grilled vegetables and a classic beurre blanc, complemented the richness of a pepper-crusted filet mignon accompanied by silky pommes purée and an au poivre sauce. As the evening unfolded, a charming mini dessert display opened for guests to enjoy at their leisure, offering vanilla cake pops, key lime tarts, and decadent double chocolate tarts. Later in the night, with the dance floor still full, a round of late-night bites delighted guests once more: cheeseburger sliders with cheddar and applewood-smoked bacon, crispy fried chicken biscuits with dill pickles and hot honey, and warm mini cheese quesadillas served with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. It was the perfect finale to a joyful evening and a menu that felt thoughtful, elevated, and delicious from start to finish.

Guests were welcomed into the reception tent through a dramatic, full greenery entrance arch accented with subtle pops of white floral. Inside the tent, greenery-covered chandeliers brought a natural, suspended garden feel overhead.

Tabletop arrangements featured low, textural designs incorporating fringe tulips, sweet pea, and a mix of hellebore, hydrangea, ranunculus, and roses to create a soft, layered look while maintaining an airy, refined aesthetic throughout the space.[/field]

Playing to their new shared last name, while we were Young was the inspiration for this design, created with classic Modern romance with a touch of playful and Farm Rio influence. This special day unfolded in a kaleidoscope of color, where every corner hummed with bold, playful hues and the kind of carefree energy that makes your heart do a little dance. Guests stepped into this Farm Rio wonderland, where color didn’t just pop, it sang, and joy wasn’t just seen, it was felt. Giving nod to Monica’s inner Donna moment, the day was breezy, sun-soaked, and brimming with the spirit of a coastal escape, where laughter floated through the air, and memories were made in technicolor. Guests were wrapped in the scent of blooming cosmos and cheerful daisies, surrounded by the season’s happiest flowers. Everywhere they looked, there was something to make them smile: citrusy bursts of fuchsia and citron, playful prints, woven textures, and umbrellas that twirled like they were dancing just for them. Guests sipped fresh juice from the sunny bar or wandered over to a cheerful gelato cart for a sweet bite under the sun. It’s heartfelt, it’s full of charm, and it’s as alive and full of personality as their love. With every laugh and every glance, you felt it—that single thread of gold, tying you to this moment.

The wedding dress I found was in a cute little store in Salt Lake City, called the Blushing Bride, but it was originally strapless, and I love bows, so I wanted to incorporate that into my wedding dress. I fell in love with the fabric that was on that dres,s so I got that dress and ended up cutting off the top part of the dress and ordering more fabric from the designer so my tailor could rebuild the top of the dress. I wanted it to be cute and fun, just like our wedding!

I handpicked all the fabric, designed each dress, and had them made by one of my favorite smaller nonprofits. About a year and a half ago, I met an amazing woman named Matilda in Ghana, Africa. She has a daughter with Down syndrome, and with the little money she had, she started a nonprofit to support women who have children with disabilities or special needs. It’s called the Matilda Flow Inclusion Foundation. It’s a tailoring shop that takes custom orders and focuses on sustainable fashion by recycling unwanted goods. I traveled to Ghana and worked with her as she was just beginning the process of creating all my bridesmaids’ dresses. She did an incredible job, and I was so happy that such a beautiful part of our wedding could also represent something I love, supporting others’ dreams in places where opportunities are limited. I absolutely love how the bridesmaids’ dresses turned out. I love color, and I love the joy it brings, so I wanted all of my girls to be dressed in happiness on the happiest day of my life!

For the groomsmen’s outfits, we just did navy blue suits, so there was still some color incorporated, but kept it subtle to match the colorful formal theme of the wedding. For Cade’s suit, he had a custom navy blue suit, and his white shirt had one of my favorite details of the wedding. Honestly, his sleeve, where normally the groomsmen’s initials are embroidered, said MBY instead of his initials CMY. MBY is my new initials, and I love this because I think it’s so cute that he wears his heart on his sleeve, and throughout our dating the last several years, that’s where it has always been. He has always been so persistent, patient, and loving, and so it was such a cute reminder that I’ve always been his heart, and his heart has always been on his sleeve.

A standout moment of the celebration was the show-stopping 360° gelato bar, where guests could wander up and indulge in a refreshing, handcrafted treat. And because this was a dry wedding, we infused the experience with an extra dose of creativity: a custom juice bar, beautifully built by Backup Productions. Guests loved choosing from four freshly squeezed juices, each one as bright and flavorful as the day itself. To complement the sips and sweets, four curated food stations offered a delicious tour of flavors, from pasta and gyros to poke and flatbreads with crisp salads. The decor for this wedding drew inspiration from Farm Rio’s vibrant, joy-filled aesthetic. Playful patterns, bold color mixing, and layered textures flowed effortlessly through every detail, creating an atmosphere that felt lifted straight from a sun-drenched summer romance film. A lush medley of seasonal blooms, including cosmos, daisies, garden roses, dahlias, pee gee hydrangea, lisianthus, scabiosa, sweet pea, ranunculus, foxglove, clematis, zinnias, and more infused the day with movement, color, and an irresistible sense of whimsy. Floral pendants danced above custom-made tables, adding yet another layer of texture and enchantment to the design. Custom elements elevated the celebration at every turn: a bespoke juice bar, a custom-wrapped photo booth, and a personalized dance floor embellished with the couple’s signature initials. And in the sweetest nod to their playful spirit, the couple made their getaway on a Vespa adorned with florals, streaming ribbons, and a charming little “Just Married” plate, the perfect finale to a day overflowing with color and joy. Together, Monica + Cade stepped into a world that was uniquely theirs; vibrant, heartfelt, and unforgettable.

(from the bride) The vision I had in mind when planning our wedding was “an elegant garden party. ” I wanted everything to feel whimsical, fun, and summery, yet also elegant and classic. Something timeless, but with pops of color and a fun garden feel, since we would be lakeside. Thereweres lots of rattan on the candles, furniture, frames, es and vases at cocktail hour to bring in that summery feel. I felt that the barn felt very garden-esque, and we made it elegant with string lights, hurricane candles, and soft pink florals. We encouraged guests to dress in fun summer colors. My planner did the most amazing job capturing my vision.

Jack and I had been together since 2012 in high school, so our engagement was long-awaited by many. My sister had just gotten married the spring before, so I thought nothing of it when Jack planned a trip to Enchantment, a resort in Sedona, Arizona, that we had always wanted to go to. He told me so many times, “not to get my hopes up” and that he was going to propose soon, but it wouldn’t be here. He even told me we’d go ring shopping again when we got back. However, on the rainiest first night of our trip, he tricked me by getting me all dressed up to go to a lookout in Sedona where a golf club was, and told me his coworker said we HAD to see this lookout. He had a photographer waiting on the rocks for us, and once he finally got me to climb down the rocks in my dress and heels, he proposed. We celebrated all weekend, just the two of us.

My wedding gown is by Mark Ingram. I bought it at a shop in LA called NWLA, where I had the best time trying on dresses with my mom and my grandma, who has proven to be good luck when finding wedding dresses. I knew I wanted something timeless and classic, but with a flair that was very,e– so in came the bows. We even planned the bows on our dinner menus to match the bows on my dress.

My maids of honor, in green, wore Rachel Gilbert. The solid pink dresses are Shona Joy, and the pattern is V. Chapman. We had two signature cocktails of the evening- Claire’s being her favorite Aperol spritz and Jack’s being his usual dirty Titos martini. We had them stationed at the end of the cocktail hour on beautiful bar carts so people could grab them and get mingling. We had local wine and a special vintage wine from our birth years. Beer on tap during the reception because the bride & groom are huge beer lovers. Passed apps & stations during cocktail hour included a non-negotiable raw bar in a boat for peak lake vibes, mini tuna tartare wontons, and mini beef wellingtons, to name a few. Entrees included miso-glazed seabass, filet mignon, and a vegetarian gnocchi carbonara with local corn, which was to die for. For dessert, alongside the edging cake, we had adorable shooters of banana pudding, local milk and cookies, and a chocolate brownie.

Florals were by my lovely florist, Jenny, of Flowerwell in Rochester, NY. The inspiration was fluffy pinks and greens with different hints of pinks, blues,h and butter yellow. The ground arch was exactly everything I ever dreamed of. We had large and small arrangements with bud vases on each table for more dimension. At cocktail hour, we had amazing bar florals to highlight the bar menus. Our lily of the valley tablecloth paired perfectly with the lily of the valley menus I had my stationer design. We wanted as many flowers and garden themes as possible, so the plates were green floral toile with a leaf bread and butter plate. Tall hurricane candles lined each table for extra romance and brought the barn room to life. Our custom decal dancefloor sticker was the center of the room and used the same weeping willow on our save the dates. Tables were named withther most special places in our relationship.

Our wedding cake was created by Rochester, New York Wedding Cakes. He does such amazing work and gives us endless options to choose from. We landed on carrot cake with cream cheese swirl & vanilla with raspberry jam, all covered in vanilla buttercream in the most beautiful vintage cake design. Topped with a classic cake topper, my bridesmaid gave us when we first got engaged.

The ceremony and cocktail hour music were provided by an amazing string quartet. We wanted classics and pop songs all played, like Bridgerton. We thought the string quartet would make it feel even more like an elegant garden party. Reception music was by the most incredible band in Rochester, Shine. They played all our favorites and even learned “American Girl” by Tom Petty for us

Turning my mom’s wedding dress into my late reception to after-party dress was so special. I am one of three girls, so I definitely never thought I’d be the one to get to turn my mom’s dress into my vision. We worked with our local tailor, and my mom was with me every step of the way. It turned out so perfect– both my parents were obsessed with it and so happy someone else was able to get use out of it in such a special way.

I come from a huge wine-loving family & my dad has imparted much of his wine knowledge on Jack and me, so it has become somewhat of a tradition to have open special bottles from the bride & groom’s birth year on the table for the wedding dinner. Coming from California, my dad had to seek out many specialty vintage wine shops on the East Coast to find the right 1995 and 1998 reds that would be perfect for the event. His speech told this story of how important wine is to us, and everyone loved having a taste of such special bottles.

Aperitivo Experience

Guests were welcomed with a vibrant and interactive aperitivo featuring special live-preparation stations.
One of the favorites was the gnocchi corner, where chefs prepared gnocchi on the spot and dressed them with freshly made sauces. This created a warm, convivial atmosphere and offered guests a taste of true Italian hospitality.
Another show-stopping feature was the live mozzarella-making station, where expert cheesemakers crafted creamy fresh mozzarella right before everyone’s eyes. Served with seasonal ingredients, it added an artisanal and authentic touch to the cocktail hour.

Dinner Menu

The seated dinner celebrated Tuscan specialties, highlighting local ingredients and regional recipes. From rustic yet elegant first courses to traditional meat dishes and fresh vegetables, every plate reflected the flavors of the surrounding countryside.

Wine Selection

The entire experience was elevated by wine produced from the vineyards surrounding the villa. Guests enjoyed estate wines that perfectly matched the menu, creating a meaningful connection between the land, the venue and the celebration.[/field]

At dinner, the tables feature low, full centerpieces in harmonious pastel tones, paired with candles in glass hurricanes and vintage-style green goblets. Hanging woven lanterns and strategic architectural lighting on the cypress trees complete the look, transforming the space into an enchanting open-air dining room.

The wedding cake was a classic Italian millefoglie, prepared live by the chefs in a fun, festive show that gathered all guests around. The bride and groom then decorated the cake with piping bags, adding a playful, unforgettable touch. The celebration continued with cake tasting, kisses, and even a dramatic sabrage performed by the groom, making the cake cutting a true spectacle.

A Minimal, Architectural Wedding in San Diego with Modern Black Accents

I was so excited to shop for a wedding dress! I brought my mom and sister-in-law along for the journey one Saturday in San Diego on what felt like ‘the day of 100 dresses’. Before this day, I had gone by myself to The White Flower to try on a few dresses. This was advice I received from a friend who recommended going shopping alone so your opinions were not swayed by others (good advice I’ll always tell others!). So after the long day of visiting multiple other bridal boutiques, I brought my mom & sister-in-law back to The White Flower to see my top pick, and it easily outweighed all other dresses I tried on that day; so by the second time I put it on,n I knew it was the one and said “Yes” on the spot!

Although our wedding was not black tie, I wanted our wedding party to be in long black dresses and black tuxes. We had a very large wedding party (16 bridesmaids & 14 groomsmen), so black felt the most clean and timeless. I did, however, allow each bridesmaid to choose their own black dress so we had a beautiful variety of silhouettes and everyone looked and felt beautiful in the dress of their choice!

Our food and drinks were provided by our venue, Omni La Costa Resort. I am actually a vegetarian and not a big foodie, so the dinner selection wasn’t my highest personal priority… However, Omni La Costa had great options, and we ended up with a bouquet-wrapped Tequila Watermelon salad & 3 choices of an entree: Steak, Salmon, or a Pumpkin Ravioli. As for drinks, it was important to us to have an open bar for as long as possible. The Omni provided multiple bars with a variety of drinks and specialty cocktails. We chose to do our specialty cocktails the night before at welcome drinks. The theme for our drinkswase cities we have lived in: 1) The Tucson – a spicy margarita, 2) The Denver – an Espresso Martin, i 3) The San Diego – a Hugo Spritz

Our flowers were beautifully arranged by Studio Flourish. We were referred to Nadine by good friends of ours, and we got to know her so well during our year of wedding planning. She was so enthusiastic, passionate, talented & receptive to our vision. She truly made it all come to life while working within our budget. I chose for all 16 of my bridesmaids to hold a simple bouquet of calla lilies that went perfectly with their black dresses. I had an assortment of ivory florals with a pop of baby blue in my bridal bouquet. She did a wonderful job with bud vases, our altar,r and all other large statement pieces around the venue with similar florals and colors.

Our wedding cake was from Susie Cakes! I used to live next to a Susie Cakes in San Francisco, so it felt perfect and personal to have this be our cake. They have so many great flavors, we couldn’t choose one! We ended up choosing a variety of cupcakes and two sliced sheet cakes to offer a good assortment to our guests. We cut into a small vintageheart-shapedd cake that said “just married,” and that cake was simply for cutting, tasting & being packaged up to save for ourone-yearr anniversary.

A special detail worth noting: We used fresh coconuts on a display wall as our escort cards! WindandSea Coconuts did a personal branding on each coconut,t and we had a beautiful display wall that held all 200 coconuts, which filled our reception space perfectly.

Another special detail worth noting: My husband and I love Bird Rock Coffee here in San Diego. They have an awesome vintage Volkswagen van that they have converted into a mobile coffee cart for events like this. Their colors and vibe fit our reception perfectly, it added a personal touch, and we loved offering a variety of coffees, lattes, etc for our guests while dessert was being served through the majority of the dancing for a little energy boost!

Wine, Rust, and Midnight Blue Set the Scene for a Refined Mountain Retreat Wedding

The color palette for the weekend included greens, soft ivory, dusty blue, deep midnight blue, soft peachy blush, terracotta, and rust with rich brown and punchy wine, coral, and cranberry hues. Each event teased out a different portion of the palette. The intimate rehearsal dinner on Thursday night leaned into sage green with copper and terracotta, and snippets of midnight blue and brown. The bridal luncheon on Friday afternoon centered around wine tones, with brighter blush and coral, soft greens, and a fun little pop of chartreuse. For Friday evening’s welcome party, we leaned into a richer palette of browns, rust, and various greens to highlight the existing upholstery and patterned elements in the space. On the wedding day, each and every color was involved in some way, culminating in a dance party in a tent designed in primarily blue hues. Across the weekend, the palette guided a thoughtful, curated progression of color that celebrated the seasonal transition from fall to early winter so beautifully.

For the formal wedding reception, guests enjoyed an abundant selection of tray-passed hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour before taking their seats for an elegant plated dinner. The first course featured a seasonal mixed-greens salad with shaved vegetables, smoked onion jam vinaigrette, and toasted sunflower seeds. Entrées were pre-selected and offered a choice of beef tenderloin, chicken, or pan-seared scallops.

Alongside a beautifully appointed full bar, signature cocktails added a playful nod to the couple’s careers. Guests raved about James’ signature “The Deal Maker,” Katie’s “The Litigator,” and espresso martinis aptly named “The Legal Grounds.” And because no great celebration ends without a late-night bite, everyone was treated to a late-night surprise of hot-honey pepperoni pizza served on the dance floor.[/field]

Throughout the weekend, we focused on allowing the vibrant color palette to harmonize with High Hampton’s natural surroundings and the property’s signature patterns, prints, and textures. A custom marble pattern, created by local marbling artist Kim Padula, was seamlessly integrated into paper elements and décor in both green and blue color ways. Guests first encountered the green version in a beautifully engraved and embossed invitation suite, presented in a dark green box lined with the marbled artwork. The pattern also appeared on Inn key envelopes at check-in, on the border of the dinner menu cards, and custom boxes, each with a deck of Uno (Katie and James’ favorite card game!) that were featured in the welcome gifts guests received upon arrival for their weekend stay. The blue version of the marble pattern was kept as a visual surprise for guests, revealed only after dinner in the tent on oversized drum shades for hanging light fixtures, stage wallpaper accents, and a custom dance floor, adding a playful yet cohesive layer to the weekend’s design. Flowers played a central role in weaving the full color story throughout the weekend. Key blooms included Moab and Romantic Antike garden roses, ranunculus, terracotta lisianthus, privet berry, chocolate cosmos, magnolia foliage, eucalyptus, hellebores, larkspur, and antique hydrangea, creating arrangements that were lush, layered, and texturally rich. Texture played a key role throughout the weekend, with guests encountering rich velvet fabrics, embroidered linens, and intriguing print and laser-cut details such as wooden ginkgo leaf place cards that were personalized with each guest’s name and affixed to their menu card at dinner. Every dining experience was thoughtfully layered, creating tabletop environments that felt both intentional and elevated throughout the weekend.

One of the most meaningful surprises of the weekend was the moment when Katie’s parents revealed a vintage red Corvette for the couple to use as their getaway car. Her father found and restored the vehicle, and uponitss reveal, we displayed original photos of her parents in the car on their wedding day in 1979!

Highlands Hatter, a favorite shop from the nearby town of Highlands, set up a hat bar in the High Hampton lobby where guests could select a style and personalize it with unique details. Katie and James first discovered Highlands Hatter during a weekend trip to Highlands early in their relationship, and it was during that getaway that they both fell in love. Incorporating that experience into their wedding weekend felt like a meaningful way to share a piece of their story with their guests.[/field]

When thinking through a wedding design, Valerie Strenk of LBV Design House is often inspired by interior design and the surrounding elements to create something that feels like an extension of the space it lives in. This shoot was heavily influenced by the beauty of Fall in Texas, which aimed to blend eclectic character with a contemporary feel. Depth was brought into the design through a strategic integration of textural linens and chairs, unexpected tablescape pairings,s and letterpressed paper goods. The ultimate creation felt whimsical yet refined, with a sense of curated individuality, for a styled celebration infused with seasonal warmth and artistic flair.

In partnership with floral designer Maggie Peterson, the overall color palette was intended to celebrate colors naturally found in florals during autumn, while still bringing vibrancy to the design. These colors extended throughout the design via details like the blue rimmed plates from The Rayes Collection, the cake bar from Bee Lavish Vintage Rentals, and Paper Details from Merci Studio. This mix of colors was anchored with neutral wood and rattan materials seen in statement moments like the bar and chargers.

The background of choice for this photo shoot was The Addison Grove, which sits on a sprawling 26-acre property in the Texas Hill Country, just outside of Austin. The grounds include sweeping lawns, groups of large oak trees, a serene pond, and pastures where native wildflowers grow — plus the venue’s own longhorns grazing nearby, adding a classic Hill Country touch. Because of this natural beauty, the venue feels like a private ranch retreat — a place where the surrounding landscape becomes a living backdrop for the day.

The reception design echoed this layered softness, especially within the serpentine tablescape that flowed gracefully through the Texas Hill Country land. Table setting decor, such as the rattan chargers and the delicate scalloped plates from The Rayes Collection,n added such a touch of whimsy to the otherwise grounded, seasonal palette. BBJ La Tavola’s Nellie Rose Napkin also adorned the table and brought in a soft rose accent that perfectly complemented the muted floral arrangements on the tables. The tablescape was completed with the Marilyn chairs from Bright Event Rentals, whose sculptural, rounded silhouettes introduced a touch of modern glamour to the meadow-inspired setting. Together, the mix of textures, tones, and materials created a cohesive, immersive autumnal design that felt both elevated and effortlessly organic.

Justin and Jacqueline got engaged in Breckenridge, CO, on Valentine’s Day 2023, but not exactly by design. He had originally planned to propose on 2/15, knowing she’d find a Valentine’s Day proposal a little too cheesy. But an incoming snowstorm quickly changed his plans. The photographer he’d hired called to warn him that by the next day, the weather would be so cold the camera could literally freeze. So on Valentine’s Day morning, Justin got down on one knee as it began to snow, giving them some of Jacqueline’s favorite photos they have ever taken. They spent the rest of the day snowboarding and FaceTiming their friends and family, soaking in every moment. It truly was the perfect day, and now that Hallmark holiday has a very special place in their heart.

For our Welcome Party, I wanted to lean into everything we love most about California—citrus, sunshine, ocean air, and incredible food. That inspired a California Coastal welcome celebration filled with potted citrus trees, playful food activations, beautiful wine, and an easy, sun-kissed elegance. It felt like the perfect way to ground our guests in the place we call home. Our Wedding Day was a true homage to my love of florals and the beautiful, chaotic wonder of nature. I’m endlessly inspired by how wildflowers grow—effortlessly harmonious, perfectly imperfect, and stunning in their unexpected pairings. That philosophy guided every design decision. We played with organic shapes through a mix of serpentine, circular, and rectangular tables, creating a natural flow that mimicked the winding paths found in nature. My aisle was intentionally designed as a meandering garden trail, as if I were wandering through blooms on my way to the altar. For dinner, I wanted our guests celebrate dining al fresco under the stars—romantic, glowing, intimate—surrounded by flowers and soft chandelier light in the middle of a dreamlike garden party. Our After Party was a complete tonal shift in the best way—an ode to our barhopping and club days, when neon and bold prints had an absolute chokehold on us. We went all-in with a Neon Jungle theme: leather accents, animal prints, banana leaves, hot-pink lighting, black-candlelit entrance, and the most dramatic black on black, five tier cake you have ever seen. It was playful, nostalgic, and the perfect high-energy finale to the night.

Not because we’re nosey or ruin things on purpose—we’re just the kind of people who get so excited about giving gifts that we can’t help but spill the beans. Little did I know he was frantically coordinating with my brother-in-law and the restaurant staff, answering questions about whether to hide the ring in my food or champagne (he wisely opted for neither).

Guests enjoyed some of our favorite bites — lasagna, pizza, a lavish charcuterie station, and so much more. My favorite touch, though, was our lovely caviar attendant. My love of caviar knows no bounds, and this was such a fun and approachable way to introduce and celebrate one of my favorite delicacies. Dinner itself was designed to feel cozy yet elevated — a true reflection of our love for food and connection. Curating the menu with Chef Hany was a seamless and inspiring experience; it was an honor to witness his passion for creating such heartwarming culinary moments. We talked through our favorite dishes and found ways to make each one shine while celebrating seasonal ingredients. I’m passionate about using what nature gives us, and Southern California makes that easy! Every bite reflected Chef Hany’s artistry, our shared love of food, and our desire to connect everyone through this experience. The pasta wheel was not only delicious but such a fun twist on a classic — guests are still talking about it! We ended the meal with my favorite dessert on the property: tiramisu. Every bite was pure magic. Both of us come from the alcohol industry, which naturally shaped our bar program — especially our signature cocktails. We’re both lovers of classic, spirit-forward drinks. I’ve always said you can tell a lot about a bar by its whiskey sour and its dirty martini! So, of course, our signature cocktails had to be a Classic Old Fashioned for Brandon and a Dirty Vodka Martini for me — each with a personal touch we curated with Max and his incredible bar team. Brandon’s Old Fashioned stayed true to tradition but featured a subtle twist with walnut bitters — small but mighty, adding warmth and depth. As for me, I’m wildly particular about my martinis: ice cold, a vermouth rinse, and make it dusty. Not only did Max and his team nail the assignment, but they also made sure I had the coldest martini known to mankind whenever I needed one.

LOCATION FLIP! Thanks to her organization and expertise, we had our entire three-day celebration fully planned and buttoned up six months before the big day. Then, I threw a major curveball three months out: I wanted to completely flip the spaces — an indoor ceremony and an outdoor garden dinner. This meant a full redesign and transforming a traditional ballroom into the ceremony space of my dreams. Not only did Michelle make it happen, but she nailed it.
