Our wedding day was designed to feel like a romantic garden party, with an atmosphere that was light, airy, and timeless. We wanted the day to feel elegant yet relaxed, allowing guests to soak in the charm of Lowndes Grove. It was a huge priority for us to make the day joyful and unforgettable for our loved ones who traveled from across the country to celebrate with us.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]
After 3 years of dating, Joe proposed to me in Knoxville, Tennessee, where we first met and went to college. We were in Knoxville for what I had thought was a regular weekend visiting friends, but little did I know Joe had been planning this weekend for months. I was staying with my friends, and Joe was staying with his. On our way to “dinner downtown, my friends went off course and drove me to a park alongside the river where Joe was waiting in a suit. Everything clicked once I saw him, and after several happy tears, he walked me down a path to an area he’d set up for us. After an intimate proposal, I was surprised yet again by both of our families and more friends, and we spent the rest of the night celebrating downtown with all of our loved ones!

The moment I walked out of the fitting room and saw myself in the mirror, I knew my dress was the one for me. My best friends were with me dress shopping in Atlanta, and after trying on a few options, this is the one that made them all stand to their feet and literally shout. I’ve never felt so beautiful; it’s like it was designed perfectly for me. The simple, sleek fabric, unique bust line, and drop waist had me feeling like a princess our entire wedding day.

My bridesmaids mean the world to me, and I wanted them each to stand out by my side. I knew I wanted all of my girls in different styles and colors, which took some trial and error to find nine dresses that were unique yet cohesive. After lots of workshopping, I landed on Show Me Your Mumu for their wide variety of options in the same color scheme. The simple silhouettes and shades of pastels looked gorgeous together and fit the vibe of our décor perfectly.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]
We wanted the food and drinks to be fun, flavorful, and unique to Southern cuisine. During cocktail hour, we passed crab cakes, bruschetta, and bacon-wrapped shrimp, paired with our signature his & hers cocktails: whiskey sours and lemon drop martinis. Dinner featured filet with chimichurri or fresh grouper in a citrus beurre blanc, with glazed carrots and Boursin whipped potatoes. The real star of the show was the late-night bites, we passed espresso martinis, hot dogs, and ice cream cookie sandwiches towards the end of the reception to keep the party going strong before the after party!

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]
Selecting the florals and decor was the highlight of wedding planning for me! Our ceremony was centered around a gorgeous oak tree on the front lawn of the property, adorned with a floral installation that climbed its trunk. The aisle was lined with two large urns filled with a mix of blooms that matched our soft pastel color palette, and tan scalloped umbrellas provided shade for guests on a warm summer day. For the reception, we carried the light and airy vibe throughout with soft pastel florals, white draping, and rattan chandeliers under a clear-top tent. Outside the main reception tent, our guests loved gathering around the 360º bar surrounded by tea lights with a breathtaking view of the river. We danced the night away to a killer band on a tan-and-white checkered dance floor under a sparkling disco ball installation.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]
Funny enough, our cake required the least amount of planning yet might be one of the most complimented things from our wedding day! We opted for a simple three-tier chocolate cake with fudge icing, and it definitely lived up to its praise.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]One of my favorite details from our wedding day was having a live painter on-site to capture the venue and our dip at the end of the aisle. It was so special for the guests to be able to watch the painting come to life throughout the night, and even more special to be able to bring this artwork home and display it in our living room to appreciate every day.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]
A small but memorable touch was hanging a Tennessee flag off the terrace of our venue. As a Tennessee native myself and both of us being lifelong Volunteer fans, it made it feel like Lowndes Grove was our home for the day.

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]We were blessed with the most breathtaking sunset over the river the night of our wedding, painting the sky with vibrant shades of orange and pink. It made for the most beautiful backdrop we could’ve asked for, truly the cherry on top of our perfect day. [/field]
