For the welcome dinner, we opted for a vibrant palette of colours, perfectly suited for the garden setting. I chose to incorporate red florals into my hair to complement my Italian floral dress, and we also featured plenty of red blooms in the décor. To enhance the festive atmosphere, we had singers performing tarantella and fresh pizza cooked on-site in a pizza oven. On the wedding day, we primarily utilized white tones to ensure the stunning villa in the background remained the focal point.

Our vision was to seamlessly blend the setting of the 15th-century villa with the beauty of the Italian countryside and my chosen lace, regal dress. I loved the villa’s courtyard, so we chose it for dinner, opting for round tables to encourage conversation among guests. I aimed for a fun and lively atmosphere during dinner, which led us to our amazing host, George. He was truly extraordinary, effortlessly juggling two languages. We had our first dance midway through the dinner, allowing us to transition into a joyful celebration with everyone right afterward. We also selected a separate location for the cake cutting, where we planned a surprise fireworks display.

Each year, we spend our family vacation in Croatia, a place that has been a cherished part of my life since childhood. This spot holds a special place in my heart, and once Sandro and I started dating, he began joining us on these trips. Last year, he asked my father for his blessing to propose. The moment I tried on my dress, I fell in love—it was extravagantly magnificent, with a regal essence. Showcasing a unique chandelier lace sleeve, a low V-neckline, and an A-line silhouette without any heavy folds at the waist. We decided to shorten the train to make it more practical and added a bustle that created a seamless transition, giving the dress a whole new look. To complement the intricate details at the back, I chose a sheer veil that wouldn’t overpower the design. The dress was in its original colour, featuring a peach hue on the base layers that beautifully matched the villa. We also lengthened the collar to accentuate my neck, which I adored.[/field]

The food was provided by the villa, and we chose local Tuscan options, a lot of meat. For the welcome dinner, we opted for a pizza, which was a hit.

Villa Mangiacane features a stunning terracotta hue, and since dinner was set to take place in the courtyard, we opted for a minimalistic floral decor. We chose predominantly white blooms, accented with soft peach tones and a lot of greenery to enhance the outdoor setting. The floral arrangements on each table were kept relatively low to avoid overshadowing the chandeliers hanging above, which added a beautiful touch and elevated the overall ambiance. I particularly liked the stairs, so we decided to decorate the staircase with florals too, which created an incredible atmosphere around our sweetheart table. We truly felt like in a pool of flowers. The décor of the church was truly remarkable, highlighted by a large half arch at the entrance, which we also adorned in white. Our talented florist transported the flowers from the church to the villa, where we repurposed them to enhance the cake-cutting area.

Our cake followed a cherished family tradition. In my family, the cake topper is passed down from the bride’s wedding to her grandchildren’s wedding. I ordered mine online and sewed a miniature version of my dress for it. It was adorable and added a sweet, personal touch to the day.

It was played during my first trip to Italy, where Sandro first told me he loved me. I also surprised my father with a father-daughter dance to “Everybody Loves Somebody,” a song we had danced to a week before in San Marco Square, in Venice.[/field]

It was important to me that my father walk me down the aisle, while Sandro wanted to honour Italian tradition by having his mother accompany him. A week before the wedding, during a tour of Italy with my family, we chose the music for our entrances. We chose “La Califfa” for my walk and “Gabriel’s Oboe” for Sandro. On the day, as I stood hidden near the church, hearing Sandro’s entrance moved me to tears; it was the most meaningful moment.

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]To incorporate a piece of my heritage, my grandmother brought a traditional Karavay bread, which was presented before dinner. Sandro and I each took a piece to determine who would be the “boss” in the family. It was a special moment, and our Italian guests were fascinated by the tradition.[/field]

We also added personal touches to the stationery. The menu featured a fresco from the villa’s main entrance, with gold details that impressed those who recognized it. Our tables were named after cities where we had shared special memories, each waccompanied bya photo and a story explaining its significance. I loved how this detail made the day feel even more personal.

Together, they envisioned an enchanting summer celebration that blended the romantic charm of the Sicilian countryside with the timeless elegance of an English garden — and their big day certainly fit the bill.

They took a few selfies and chatted a bit, but they ignored the obvious chemistry between them. Thanks to their mutual friends, their paths crossed several times a year — but the two always skirted around the connection they both felt. Five years after meeting, Amelia decided that it was time to ask Brendan out once and for all. She sent him a text at midnight on New Year’s, asking him on a date. He agreed to it immediately. For the main course, guests were served pan-sautéed chicken topped with melted provolone and finished with a delicate lemon butter sauce, alongside tenderloin medallions in a rich port wine and blackberry reduction. The entrées were accompanied by roasted oregano Yukon gold potatoes, fresh asparagus, and a classic Caesar salad, creating a menu that was both timeless and indulgent, an exquisite culinary experience that matched the couple’s elegant and welcoming vision for the day.

Set in the heart of Mexico City, the design balanced architectural grandeur with intimate warmth. Every detail was intentional, from the candlelit arches of the Claustro de Sor Juana to the sculptural florals that framed each space. The vision was to create a sophisticated atmosphere where family and friends could gather, celebrate, and honor the legacy of love that shaped the couple’s story. It was an event where luxury met soul, blending couture styling, world-class production, and heartfelt narrative into one cohesive experience.

For Andrea “Andie” Moreno and Ryan McGuigan, what began as a spontaneous meeting at a fall gathering in Los Angeles quickly unfolded into a romance that spanned countries and culminated in a deeply personal and visually breathtaking celebration in Mexico City. Introduced by mutual friends in late 2021, the pair met during a night of live music at the Penmar Golf Course. Andie, days away from leaving LA to reset in Mexico City, wasn’t looking for love. But Ryan, instantly captivated, asked her brother-in-law if she was single and whether he might ask her out. With a bit of encouragement, he made his move. A few weeks, two already-planned dates, and one whirlwind connection later, a long-distance chapter began. It didn’t last long. Within six months, Andie was back in LA and fully in love. Almost two years later, on a rainy morning in the home they shared, Ryan,amously no fan of hiking, planned one. When Andie pushed back, he stepped into the bathroom, took a breath, and emerged to propose in the living room. She said yes instantly. A few weeks later, the couple had chosen their wedding destination: the city that held her family, her memories, and soon, their marriage.

The menu, created by celebrated chef Eduardo Kohlmann, was a symphony of fine-dining artistry: Crab salad on brioche with lobster bisque, adorned with edible flowers Green bean velouté with Papantla vanilla, pistachio, and mascarpone Lemon-basil sorbet as a refreshing interlude and palate cleanser Miso-glazed sea bass with broccolini, edamame, and oriental risotto 72-hour slow-cooked short rib with truffle-Jabugo jus, tomato napoleon, and confit baby artichokes For dessert: a velvety chocolate cream with berry compote and vanilla ice cream, and a lemon tart topped with toasted meringue and fresh berries The wine list; curated from the private cellar of the bride’s late father, Mauricio Moreno Peralta private cellar, elevated the evening further, featuring Pouilly Fumé by Clément & Florian Berthier, Margaux Bacchus de Dauzac 2019, magnums of Drappier Champagne 2008, and jeroboams of Meursault and Gevrey-Chambertin. A sweet highlight: Pandie’s World ft. The Fly Club, a custom candy shop built and created by the famous Julie Junk. Named after Andie’s childhood nickname “Pandie” and Ryan’s Harvard final club, the setup offered nostalgic treats – panda gummies, Oregon Ducks chocolate ducks, Mexican candies, cookies, Sun Valley s’mores, Shamrock Rice Krispies, soft serve ice cream, and even a “Ryan’s Recovery Station” stocked with Dr Pepper, Gatorade, and Electrolit. The celebration overflowed with unexpected delights: a carajillo and espresso martini bar (complete with popsicles) by Carino Mio, a rooftop surprise filled with balloons and 3D glasses and light up headgear, and the unforgettable Calavera Mezcal Bar, featuring six signature cocktails and the infamous “Wheel of Death”- a daring game that challenged guests to take triple shots, taste scorpions, or endure electric shocks.

Ceiling installations and draped arrangements softened the historic arches of the Claustro de Sor Juana, blending texture, movement, and romance. Bright & Light designed a custom lighting concept that transformed the reception into a “sky full of stars”; a celestial canopy under which the couple and their guests danced until dawn. Every element was layered with intention: candlelight, sculptural blooms, and natural materials that celebrated both space and emotion.[/field]

Julie Junk also opened up her Pandie’s World candy shop for guests, which also held the wedding cake, a dulce de leche delight.

The world-class 20-piece band Metropoli was flown in from Monterrey and set the tone with a smooth start: Sinatra, Bocelli, and Adele songs over dinner; and brought the house down with a high-energy Spanish-English pop sets, including the bride’s beloved tracks like “Pink Pony Club,” “La Vida es un Carnaval,” “Sweet Caroline,” “Kill the Lights”, and of course, “Mr. Brightside”. The groom and his mother shared a heartfelt dance to James Taylor’s “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You),” followed by the couple’s electric first dance to Love Affair’s “Everlasting Love, paying homage to one of their favorite films: Belfast, and the ggroom’sIrish heritage. In one of the most emotional moments of the night, as the bride no longer had her father for their planned dance, the entire Peralta family—Mauricio’s side—rose to surround her on the dance floor. Together, they honored him by dancing to Roy Orbison’s “You Got It”—the song he had picked out just for them. The family then invited everyone to join, officially opening the dance floor with a flood of love, unity, and celebration. On March 26th, one day before festivities were set to kick off, the father of the bride, Mauricio Moreno Peralta, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. There were over 350 guestswhot had traveled to Mexico City from over 20 countries to celebrate. What was the couple supposed to do? Andie chose to move forward with the wedding in an extraordinary act of strength, love, and resilience. Her father, Maurici,o was a proud “chilango,” a lifelong resident of Mexico City hailing from the influential Peralta family. As the couple’s eyes & ears on the ground, Mauricio had curated every detail of the weekend; infusing his trademark joy, generosity, and impeccable taste, alongside wedding planner Lucero Alvarez. He had poured his heart & soul into planning an event to honor his daughter, and Mauricio spent the preceding two months in giddy excitement with the date approaching. As hard as it would be for Andie, she knew that moving forward with the wedding was what her father would have wanted. A Three-Day Amalfi Coast Celebration Layered in Color, Romance, and Italian Riviera Style

We were lucky enough to have a 3-day event and were intentional with our styling for each day, wanting to bring a new vibe to every different moment. For our Welcome event, we wanted our guests to feel like they were in an Italian market and used plenty of bright colours representative of the beautiful,l fresh produce you would find in Italy. We asked our guests to dress in all white for our Welcome, whilst Tom & I wore a soft romantic hue of blue. We thought this allowed the venue styling to really pop! For our Wedding day, we asked guests to come in colour, perfectly complementing the summer weather on the Amalfi Coast. Our Wedding Ceremony was styled in beautiful soft whites & neutrals mixed with pops of green, which paired well with the colour of Tom’s suit and the bridal party outfits. Heading into our Wedding Reception, the colour palette turned slightly moodier, where we incorporated more burgundy and deeper purple tones into the white & green tones. These colours worked wonderfully in Villa Cimbrone’s Crypt, bringing warmth to the space. We were lucky to celebrate our Wedding Recovery at One Fire Beach Club in Praiano, featuring the iconic orange daybeds set against the breathtaking blue ocean, which gave a great colour palette for our Recovery outfits and personalised Wedding stationery.

The colour was so chic and perfectly matched the groomsmen’s suits, fitting seamlessly with our overall wedding weekend theme of ‘Something Blue.’ It felt like it was meant to be!

Food & Drink For our Wedding Welcome Event, we envisioned a real traditional Italian market-style celebration, complete with vibrant food stalls offering various Italian bites from freshly made pasta, wood-fired pizza, fresh cut prosciutto and mortadella, plus fresh mozzarella balls. It was such a fun way to kick off the wedding weekend. For our Wedding reception dinner, we opted for a delicious tomato pasta – you really can’t go wrong with such a classic dish in Italy! All guests then dined on a beef main, followed by a divine dessert buffet by the dancefloor. For drinks on our Wedding Day, guests had the choice of 2 different spritzes available – drinks we had playfully named ourselves. This was, of course, seen in addition to the standard beer/wine/prosecco offering, but I think the spritzes were a real favourite in the Italian heat! Wedding Cake We opted for a traditional Italian millefoglie for our wedding cake, which was the perfect choice for a wedding dessert on the Amalfi coast, with pure bliss in every bite! We cut the cake by the dancefloor just after our first dance, it was perfect!

One of the most special parts was having his family travel all the way from Colombia to be with us, and my grandmother—who had just turned 90—joined in the celebration. The day became a joyful blend of cultures, traditions, and loved ones, making it uniquely and unmistakably ours.”

This was the most special nod to the bride’s late Grandfather, who spent every summer picking gallons (and she means gallons) of fresh strawberries from local farms in our area.

Horses grazed quietly in the distance, golden light poured across the fields, and every detail was chosen to feel both grounded and refined. We drew inspiration directly from the land itself. Local florals reflected the tones of late-summer prairie blooms: soft ochres, faded blush, and earthy greens. A prairie-inspired menu echoed the harvest season, with notes of warmth and abundance. The cake, adorned in delicate blossoms, mirrored the organic movement of wildflowers swaying in the breeze. Our bride and groom, both from the prairies, embody the authenticity and humility of those who call this region home. They are as beautiful in spirit as they are in form—a reflection of what this landscape cultivates: grace, resilience, and quiet strength. Every vendor was chosen with the same intention. Local artists, florists, planners, and creatives came together to build something that felt deeply connected to our roots. The result is a visual love letter to this place—a celebration of artistry born from community, and of beauty found in simplicity. When we saw it in person, the view exceeded all expectations. The vineyard, with its lush greenery and rolling hills, reminded us of Tuscany itself. The limestone walls and wooden beams of the villa evoked that same rustic elegance, and we knew instantly that this was the one. It felt like Tuscany had been brought right here to us, and we couldn’t imagine a more perfect place to celebrate our special day. For the florals, I envisioned lots of fuchsia because its bold, lively hue beautifully contrasts with the natural greens and earthy tones of the setting, making everything feel bright, fresh, and full of energy. I also wanted to incorporate fresh fruits into the tablescapes to add colorful accents that evoke abundance and warmth, much like the rustic Italian countryside. From the bride: Our proposal: Justin proposed to me in Southampton, on the sands of Cooper’s Beach—a moment I will always cherish. He spent the entire day carefully planning and arranging nearly two thousand red roses into a large heart on the shore, surrounded by flickering candles that cast a warm, enchanting glow. As the sun dipped lower, painting the sky in shades of gold, he took my hands and led me along the beach. As we were walking, the breathtaking scene slowly unfolded before us—a giant heart of roses against the endless ocean, with seagulls soaring overhead. When we reached the center of the roses, he knelt down and presented me with a ring. I couldn’t help but tear up before he even asked—despite knowing this moment was coming, the emotion was so real and overwhelming. Justin was also tearing up as he asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes, and we shared a kiss. In that moment, we both felt an overwhelming happiness, grateful to have made this lifelong commitment to each other. Later that evening, our friends told us dolphins had been jumping out of the water right when Justin proposed, adding an extra touch of magic to an already unforgettable moment. That day, surrounded by the beauty of nature and love, I knew I had found my forever. This memory will stay with me always — a perfect moment that encapsulates our love and our future ahead.

The vision was to create a celebration that felt soft and romantic but deeply intentional. One that highlighted family, heritage, and the natural beauty of The Bradford’s European-inspired gardens. Layers of eucalyptus, cream, and copper wove through the day, blending seamlessly with the venue’s stone architecture and lush greenery. Once Gathered brought that dream to life through organic floral compositions that felt as if they were growing right out of the grounds.

An Enchanted Garden Wedding Under the Stars at Chikaming Country Club

The colors for this incredible day were a mixture of blue and purple tones, both dark and light, and a splash of white and pink throughout the bouquets and floral arrangements.

The couple’s vision for their wedding day was an Enchanted Garden. They wanted to walk into the space and be surrounded by color, tons of beautiful florals, and personalized touches that really spoke to who they are and what they love. A custom monogram was created and implemented throughout the design, and sprinkles of their dog, Ziggy, appeared on personalized items, such as the napkins and signature drinks. Merry Me took the couple’s vision and created a real-life fairytale, complete with stunning floral designs, custom bars and seating chart, gorgeous linens, beautiful ceremony arch, and so much more. To bring this gorgeous garden feel inside, a stunning, black-framed atrium tent was constructed on the grounds of Chikaming County Club. Blue Peak Tents created a space where the guests were able to be indoors for dinner and dancing, yet retain that immersive outdoor garden feel. The guests were able to dance the night away under the stars since all the sides, including the roof, were clear.

After four years together, Chris surprised Brooks on one knee in the Caribbean island of Dominica. Chris had asked for Brooks’s dad’s blessing months before, and it was extra special to enjoy the ring and the moment after her dad’s passing. Such a beautiful and sweet island surprise.

Going into the wedding dress shopping was quite the process for the bride, as she had a completely different look in mind when she first started. As soon as she got to Dimitras, she fell in love with the first dress she tried on. She felt it went perfectly with the garden princess vibe of our wedding. She did try on a few other dresses afterwards, but kept on coming back to that first one. She loved the lace detailing and the removable sleeves, which made it all the more special. You only wear a wedding dress once, so she wanted it to be elaborate and unique.

As for the bridesmaids’ dresses, purple has always been the bride’s favorite color. She knew immediately that she wanted a lavender look for the garden party vibe. She also really wanted her bridesmaids to be able to pick a dress that they loved and felt comfortable in. She had seen weddings where bridesmaids wore all different dresses within a similar color scheme, and that immediately became her inspiration. Bride quote: “It was so fun to see what the girls all came up with and to see the dresses all together for the first time on the wedding day!”

The goat cheese fritters and truffle shrimp skewer appetizers had all the guests grinning from ear to ear as they enjoyed cocktail hour on the patio of the club. The custom monogram bars served Chris and Brooks’ signature drinks. Each is named after the other, including their adorable dog, Ziggy. All three of the drinks could be made into a mocktail, which was a special treat for their guests. Dinner started with a kale Caesar salad and consisted of a juicy filet, wild-caught salmon, ora yummy vegetarian alternative. The Yukon potatoes were a crowd pleaser for sure and were paired with fresh asparagus.

The combination of the beautiful golf course, tall trees, and colorful flowers turned this ceremony into a fairytale garden. As guests moved into cocktail hour, each decor element immersed the guests in Chris and Brooks’ fairytale garden. The handcrafted shiplap escort wall, complete with floral boxes, and the custom monogram, which appeared on the bars, escort wall, dance floor,r and invitations, showed how dedicated this couple was in creating a unified theme throughout their day. After walking up the wooden steps into the atrium tent, you were immediately greeted by the large floral ring andlanterns hanging from the tent ceiling. The whole dance floor was wrapped in lavender and white squares, with Brooks and Chris’ monogram in the center. Each table adorn unique linens and flatware. The wicker chairs and matching chargers were a great way to incorporate that woodsy feel without overpowering the table with darker tones. The centerpieces consisted of tall, glass arrangements or small floral bunches, kept in ornate, white vases that reminded me of a country garden. Each design, including the bouquets, had an arrangement of garden roses, delphinium, hydrangeas, butterfly ranunculus, alliums, roses, and anemones.

Black Currant Bakery created the most elegant cake for Brooks and Chris. This 5-layer cake was frosted in a wave pattern, giving the cake movement and depth. Florals were added to elevate the look and bring pops of color to this stunning white cake. Black Currant also provided the signature donuts at the reception. These are the bride’s absolute favorite donuts, so Merry Me constructed a donut wall to display them and add to the fun of the decor. Later on in the evening, Beaver’s Donut Truck arrived, serving adorable donut holes in to-go bags so guests could take them home. However, the majority of the donut holes were found on the dance floor as guests rocked out to Blue Water Kings, donut in hand.

The bride’s wedding band was particularly special for this day. From the bride: “The wedding band was the band my dad gave to my mom for their 10th anniversary. After my dad’s death, my mom surprised me by saying she wanted me to have the ring she had worn for so long, since I’m the only daughter. Chris and I were so honored that she wanted it to be a part of our ceremony and life together. And we will always cherish it knowing that my dad picked it out.”

When it came time for sunset photos, the couple wanted photos both on the golf course and at the beach. The couple was able to travel in style thanks to the Studebaker Museum, which provided a vintage Studebaker car for the occasion. The classic black color and style matched Chris’s slick tuxedo. The contrast created by Brooks’ white gown resulted in every image looking like they just walked off a Hollywood movie set. Brooks’ family home is nestled right on Lake Michigan. Brooks has so many happy memories of spending countless days at the beach with her whole family, including her father, who had passed away. Being able to take photos on the beach that meant so much to Dadra was one of the highlights of the day. It was almost kismet that the clouds turned blueish-purple, their exact wedding colors. Brooks knew that that was her dad, smiling down on her. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

A Florida Takes New England Garden Wedding in a Beloved Grandmother’s Backyard

Her grandmother’s waterfront yard provided a scenic backdrop, and the outdoor tent became a central design moment. It featured intricate ceiling decor, ruffled fabric, and free-flowing floral installations that took considerable planning and engineering to bring to life.

A Love That Weathered the Storm and Bloomed Along the River at The Dunlin

Rebekah and Benjamin originally planned to wed at The Biltmore, but after Hurricane Helene devastated the Asheville area, they were forced to pivot. With only three weeks until the big day, their planner worked tirelessly to redesign the wedding and redirect the vendors to South Carolina, as well as having to bring aboard a few new vendors on board, given the devastation of the hurricane and the new location. They discovered the newly-completed Dunlin on Johns Island, which ended up being the perfect alternative. “The venue was so stunning that we barely had to do anything in terms of decor, but what we did add transformed it into exactly what we had dreamed of,” they shared. Accented by a southern sunset along the river and framed by dramatic veils of Spanish moss, the charm of their new venue came to life.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]While attending virtual classes during COVID, Rebekah first met Benjamin through their shared law school program. After sending him a message on Zoom to join a study group, the two became friends. Ben thought Rebekah was too serious about school, and Rebekah thought Ben was too chaotic. As they later remarked, “We were both right.” A year passed before something simply clicked, and their friendship turned into a relationship. Two years later, Ben proposed, catching Rebekah completely off guard. While visiting a so-called “castle” in South Carolina, he suggested she change her outfit to something nicer. Rebekah refused, slightly annoyed, and remained so as they walked the grounds. Following his request to check out the garden and then the well, she rolled her eyes and joked, “Wow, it’s a well, cool,” only to turn and see Benjamin pulling out a ring. “It was the greatest moment, and exactly what I wanted it to be,” she reflected.[/field]

A Postcard-Perfect Love Story Brought to Life on the Shores of Rehoboth Beach

The paper set the tone with hues of blue and pink, a nod to my mom’s love of fine yet playful stationery. Cheree Berry designed our save-the-date postcard that doubled as a tribute to the years Grant and I spent long-distance, sending postcards back and forth between DC and Colorado. They took that inspiration forward to our Rehoboth-inspired invitations and day-of details, even creating an “M&G” monogram that was seen throughout our paper portfolio. Day of, menus doubled as custom place cards, adding a personal touch at every seat and signalling our love of trying a new restaurant.

For our coastal wedding, we chose Rehoboth Beach, where my family has a home (the bride). We recreated the iconic Funland’s ticket booth as a way for guests to find their tables. The table numbers were rides/ attractions at Funland, like the sea dragon and skeeball. And while our dog Denali wasn’t invited in person, he was there in spirit with his own Orange Crush cocktail, images on the bar and cocktail napkins, and even had a seat of honor on top of the cake.

In March 2024, on a sunny weekday between conference calls, Grant asked if I’d join him for a walk. I should have known something was up—he was recreating our second date: coffee from Big Bear followed by a stroll through Crispus Attucks Park. As a pandemic couple, our early dates were all outdoors, each one longer than the last. On that second date, I was impressed—and a little miffed—that Grant showed me, a native Washingtonian, a hidden park I’d never discovered. Since then, he’s kept surprising me with adventures—none greater than dropping to one knee in that same park, pretending to tie his shoe but really proposing. The ring made it even more meaningful. In my family, it’s tradition for the father of the bride and groom-to-be to design it together. They honored that by blending my family heirloom stones with those Grant had chosen, creating a piece that symbolized not just our engagement but the joining of our families. We celebrated that weekend in true DC foodie fashion all over our home neighborhood of Shaw: dinner at Causa in Blagden Alley, martinis at All Souls (our favorite bar and where we later took engagement photos), and finally a surprise gathering of family and friends at Right Proper, where we had our first date. Supporting local establishments has always been part of our story, so it felt perfect to toast this new chapter at places that felt like home.

I wore Peter Langner’s 2013 “Waking Up” gown, a dress I had first chosen with my mom years ago for my debutante down in Houston. A set of happy memories in that dress with some family members who have now passed away; it felt only right to wear it again on my wedding day. Perfect for spring, its stitched flowers echoed the hydrangeas we chose as our wedding flowers. I paired it with my mom’s veil, her sapphire and diamond jewelry from DC’s Boone and Sons that accompanied my rings that had the same stones, and my something new (and blue!)—Manolo Blahnik flats. To Grant’s credit, he wore a timeless Brooks Brothers white dinner jacket, paired with cufflinks and studs that belonged to my great-grandfather. His ring, a simple gold band, was engraved with “One ring to rule them all” as a nod to his love of The Lord of the Rings.

As lovers of a good dinner party, and even more so a great cocktail, food and drink were central to the celebration. On Friday night, we gathered our nearest and dearest at the famed Back Porch Cafe. A Bentsen family special for birthdays and other celebrations, there was nowhere else to hold our intimate rehearsal dinner. A welcome party on the boardwalk followed at Above the Dunes with live music and drinks aplenty. For the wedding itself, we couldn’t imagine a beach-town celebration without seafood. Cocktail hour featured sushi as a nod to Grant’s childhood in Japan, while the bar poured beers from some of our favorite places around the world—including Dogfish Head from Rehoboth and Right Proper, where we had our first date. We couldn’t forget beloved family Labrador Denali, who not only appeared as a cake topper, in speeches, as a drink stirrer, and on cocktail napkins, but had his own signature cocktail “Denali’s Delaware Orange Crush.” Grant’s “Frozen Mere-garita” and my own “Kir Royale,” a nod to my love of France, joined Denali at the bar. Continuing my love of French cuisine, we served Sancerre as the table wine, alongside guests’ choice of crab cakes or filet. Cake from Pasqualini’s (a local favorite), late-night breakfast tacos (an homage to Texan roots), and ice cream cones fueled the dance floor.

Hospitality has always been at the center of my family’s story. My parents believed every gathering should feel joyful and welcoming, with creative details that made guests feel special. My sister and I grew up not just attending those parties, but also co-hosting them by their side—a legacy that Grant and I wanted to carry into our wedding and our life together. We envisioned the day as one big waterfront dinner party, just with more guests than usual. Our goal was simple: to make friends and family feel like they’d been invited into our home—personal, colorful, and full of warmth, food, and drink. And then there was Rehoboth itself, the backdrop to it all. My family has been going for decades, ever since my dad’s days as a young Hill staffer, and I took my first steps on its sand at two years old. To honor those summers, we created a Funland-inspired escort card display and named tables after the rides. Perhaps my favorite part was our “Rehoboth Guidebook,” beautiful linen books that came with each invitation, including wedding details and our favorite Rehoboth haunts that guests should try during the weekend. Against all odds, the rain cleared, leaving us with a perfect early summer evening—a fitting reminder of everything we hoped the day would be. Hydrangeas—my dad’s favorite and a summer staple in Rehoboth—were everywhere: in my bouquet, at the ceremony, cascading through the tent, and even on the cake. Rendered in soft pastels with complementary blooms, Sophie Felts created a look that was elegant yet effortless.

The first event took place in a lush garden, where a traditional Hindu ceremony unfolded amidst gorgeous florals and vibrant greenery. The atmosphere was filled with rich cultural traditions and spiritual energy, creating an immersive experience for everyone, especially for those experiencing an Indian wedding for the first time. Following the ceremony, the celebration moved to a stunning rooftop venue, offering breathtaking views of three majestic volcanoes. The vibe here was relaxed and welcoming, akin to a festive welcome party, allowing guests to unwind and enjoy the evening with lively music and mingling under the stars. Western Ceremony (Old Cathedral Ruins, Santa Clara) The second day featured a traditional Western ceremony in the breathtaking setting of an old cathedral ruin. The ceremony was an ode to classic love, marked by the awe-inspiring backdrop and the sacredness of the vows exchanged. After the ceremony, guests went to Villa Bokeh for a black-tie optional reception under a stunning tent. The villa’s sweeping views of a volcano set the stage for an elegant and romantic evening. The tented reception was adorned with sophisticated décor, creating an enchanting atmosphere where love, laughter, and celebration flowed effortlessly. It was an evening of fine dining, dancing, and unforgettable memories.

Food was one of the most important elements of our celebration. We both love a good meal and wanted every guest, including our many vegetarian family and friends, to have something truly special to enjoy. Both Casa Troccoli and Villa Bokeh offered elegant food and carving stations, with beautifully presented dishes that guests could savor throughout the night. Our guests can’t stop praising the remarkable flavors and the care put into every bite. For our late-night snack, we served wood-fired pizza, a playful nod to the bride’s New Jersey roots.

From the start, we knew Arysa Decor was the perfect team to bring our vision to life. For our Indian ceremony, we embraced a rich red palette, the mandap was draped in cascading blooms, the aisle lined with flowers, and a central fountain blanketed entirely in florals, creating an atmosphere that felt utterly enchanted. For our Western ceremony, the Santa Clara ruins served as a breathtaking backdrop, styled in soft neutral tones with flowers trailing down the aisle and a graceful arch framing the altar. At the reception in Villa Bokeh, we wanted timeless elegance, a linen-draped tent illuminated by chandeliers, with each panel of fabric meticulously installed by hand. Orchids, my favorite flower, were woven throughout the design, from the tablescapes to my bouquet. Across every celebration, the décor transformed each venue into a living work of art, creating a space where our guests could revel in beauty, joy, and the magic of the moment.

Our wedding cake was a showstopper, a towering nine-tier masterpiece, nearly six feet tall. The flavor was a bright and refreshing lemon cake, layered with raspberry and cream cheese filling, making it as delicious as it was visually stunning. One of the most memorable moments of the day was standing on a chair to cut the cake, a playful and joyous memory that perfectly captured the celebratory spirit of our wedding.
