A Cultural Wedding Weekend: Honouring Traditions in Croatia. The wedding was not just a single-day event, but a weekend-long celebration that beautifully intertwined Persian, American, and Croatian traditions. Every moment was thoughtfully curated to reflect the couple’s multicultural backgrounds and the unique influences that shaped their journey together. The festivities began with a vibrant Henna night—a joyful evening that paid homage to the bride’s Persian heritage while embracing the spirit of Dubrovnik. Lemons, a symbolic and local element, were featured prominently, representing freshness and a connection to the land. To recreate the atmosphere of traditional Henna nights in Iran, which are often held in the warm embrace of a family home, Persian rugs and strings of glowing lights were used to transform the space into one that felt intimate, festive, and full of soul. Live drumming added an energetic rhythm to the night, echoing the music and dancing the bride remembered from her childhood. It was a heartfelt evening filled with laughter, music, and community—a perfect introduction to the weekend ahead. The Henna night became a celebration not only of Persian tradition but of all the cultures that had touched the couple’s lives. It set the tone for a weekend that would seamlessly blend history, identity, and love in one of the most breathtaking corners of the world. Designing the Sofreh Aghd: A Fusion of Culture, History, and Elegance in Croatia. As an architectural designer, the bride believed that design should reflect the soul of culture, history, and the people it represents. These values were at the heart of the Sofreh Aghd she created for the ceremony in Croatia. Set against the backdrop of the Adriatic—often called the “Pearl of the Adriatic”—the setting inspired her to include subtle pearl motifs throughout the décor, symbolizing elegance, grace, and timeless beauty. With deep roots in Persian culture, it was important to the bride that the Sofreh express its rich and refined traditions. Persian culture is inherently poetic—never ostentatious, but filled with quiet sophistication. This ethos guided the floral selections: dreamy, delicate flowers that echoed the gentle rhythm of Persian verse. Understated yet expressive, they became a visual language of elegance and meaning. The ceremony took place at a historical venue called Sponza Palace, a venue imbued with its own storied past. The design of the Sofreh paid homage to this history while gracefully incorporating elements of Persian culture and the natural surroundings. Each design choice—florals, textures, colours—was made to complement the castle’s architecture and setting, striking a harmonious balance between heritage and place. Just as the couple’s loved ones had travelled from across the globe, each item on the Sofreh had its own journey—sourced from different corners of the world. This blend was a testament to the international spirit of the celebration and Persian culture’s deep appreciation for global connection. The Sofreh Aghd became not just a decorative table, but a tapestry of stories, memories, and symbolism. Inspired by the Western tradition of “something old, something new, something borrowed,” the bride reinterpreted this custom for the Sofreh. Pieces passed down from grandmothers, items borrowed from friends, and new treasures brought from Iran were all carefully placed, symbolizing the linking of generations and the timeless continuity of love. Ultimately, the Sofreh Aghd became a deeply personal expression of who the couple is, where they come from, and the union of their worlds. It was a tribute to unity, to love that transcends borders, and to the beauty of merging traditions—all set in the heart of Croatia’s stunning coastline. Reception Décor: A Celebration of Modern Elegance and Tradition. After the ceremony, the celebration continued with a spirited walk through the stone alleys of Dubrovnik. Accompanied by traditional Croatian street musicians, the guests danced their way to the reception venue, infusing the streets with joy and rhythm. The reception was held at a breathtaking clifftop location with panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea. The design aimed to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the setting. Ethereal flower clouds floated above the tables, delicate and weightless, allowing the scenery—sea, sky, and sunset—to remain the star of the show. The décor was intentionally airy and poetic, mirroring the dreamy elegance of the couple’s vision. Symbols from the Sofreh Aghd were subtly woven into the reception design, transformed into contemporary elements that maintained their cultural significance while blending seamlessly with the modern aesthetic. It was a continuation of the ceremony’s spirit, adapted for a new setting and mood. The reception décor struck a perfect balance between heritage and modernity. The floral palette featured soft blush, dusty pink, and ivory tones, with hints of gold adding understated luxury. Creamy linens, candlelight, and transparent Ghost chairs lent a sophisticated airiness to the design, while keeping the atmosphere warm and romantic. As the evening unfolded, every detail told a story of connection—between cultures, between past and present, and between the couple and their loved ones. The reception embodied a refined celebration where tradition met innovation, all against the backdrop of Croatia’s magical coastline. It was a weekend of beauty, love, and cultural harmony—where every element came together in a celebration that felt timeless, deeply personal, and unforgettable.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

The perfect moment to propose to Peyvand came during a memorable trip to Turkey, which she shared with her partner Tom, her brother Pejman, and cousin Aryan. For Tom, securing the blessings of both Peyvand’s father and Pejman was essential—and fortunately, both gave their wholehearted approval. With everything in place, the group set off on a day-trip to Büyükada, a picturesque island renowned for its peaceful charm and its friendly cat population. After a scenic ferry ride, they rented bikes and pedaled through the island’s idyllic landscapes, eventually arriving at a breathtaking vantage point. It was there, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Turkish coastline and the island’s ever-present feline companions, that Tom knelt down on one knee. Before he could even begin his carefully prepared speech, Peyvand—overcome with joy and excitement—said yes.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The celebration kicked off the night before the wedding with an abundant and beautifully arranged grazing table that set the tone for the festivities. Guests enjoyed an elegant spread featuring mini burgers, spring rolls, fried scampi tails, tacos, and an array of fish, meat, and vegetarian canapés. Dalmatian platters and individual octopus salads in glasses added a regional touch, while Caprese salad and cherry tomato–mozzarella skewers brought fresh Mediterranean flavors. Meatballs served in warm tomato sauce cups were a comforting favorite—but the real star of the evening was the creamy lemon ice cream served in lemon shells, which quickly became a crowd-pleasing hit.

On the wedding day, the culinary experience continued with a generous buffet of cold and warm dishes. Cold options included a variety of Dalmatian cheeses and cured meats, along with inventive salads like stuffed tomatoes with rice and tuna, Mediterranean chicken-pasta salad, and a vibrant summer Waldorf. Warm selections showcased local flavors with baked Zagorje štrukli, gnocchi with prosciutto and sage, truffle-infused spinach gnocchi, vegetarian tortellini, and house-made gorgonzola ravioli with a rich cheese sauce.

For the main course, a family-style feast was served at the tables: grilled sea bass over Swiss chard, gratinated potatoes with pumpkin cream on the side, chicken medallions in a savory sauce, and tender beef rolls filled with prosciutto, cheese, and mushrooms.

Desserts arrived in style—served from a vintage-style trolley—featuring Hungarian layer cake (mađarica), delicate crispy fruit baskets, and silky panna cotta, providing a sweet and elegant finale to a truly unforgettable celebration.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The colour palette of ivory, blush, gold, and dusty pink set the tone for a reception that felt effortlessly elegant, soft, and modern romantic. These hues harmonized beautifully with the natural surroundings, echoing the golden glow of the sunset and the delicate pastels of the sea and sky. The ceremony itself centered around soft blush tones, which were showcased in the floral arrangements lining the aisle and framing the altar. These gentle shades created an ambiance of romance and delicacy, heightened by a clean ivory aisle runner and sheer backdrop curtain that added a refined contrast to the historic stone textures of the venue. Transparent Ghost chairs brought a modern, ethereal touch, enhancing the visual lightness while allowing the beauty of the space to shine through. The weathered beige and tan tones of the palace’s stone arches provided an earthy, timeless backdrop that grounded the pastel palette with quiet strength. Classic blush and ivory roses were elegantly woven throughout the arrangements, adding a touch of timeless romance. Lisianthus blooms, known for their ruffled petals and graceful appearance, were tucked into the arrangements in soft pastel tones. They contributed a romantic, almost vintage feel, enhancing the floral storytelling with elegance and delicacy. The voluminous blooms of hydrangeas appeared in soft pink and creamy white tones, contributing fullness and a dreamy texture to the base arrangements. Their round, clustered form created a luxurious foundation and balanced the taller florals at Sponza Palace. The reception embraced a refined and romantic aesthetic with a contemporary twist, accented by whimsical touches. Set just a short walk from the amphitheatre at Višnjica—one of Dubrovnik’s most breath-taking viewpoints—the venue offered a spectacular setting. Perched atop a rocky cliff, it boasted panoramic views of the Old City and nearby islands, making it a truly unforgettable location. The overall design was dreamlike yet sophisticated, blending the natural beauty of the landscape with elegant, modern elements. Suspended above the dining tables, floating clouds of blush pink baby’s breath and crystal chandeliers created a magical canopy, mirroring the golden tones of the setting sun and glistening sea beyond. Each table featured floral centrepieces in soft blush hues, infusing the space with warmth and romance. Creamy neutral linens, ivory napkins, and the soft glow of candlelight added layers of understated elegance. Gold cutlery offered a touch of luxury, while transparent Ghost chairs and delicate glassware maintained a sense of openness and modern minimalism, allowing the natural surroundings to remain at the heart of the experience. Ivory and creamy neutrals formed a refined base, allowing the blush and dusty pink florals to shine with their dreamy, ethereal charm. Gold accents—subtly incorporated through table settings and decorative details—added just the right amount of glamour, enriching the atmosphere without overwhelming its serenity. Used abundantly in various shades of pink, baby’s breath created a cloud-like, ethereal texture in installations above the tables at the reception venue. It formed dramatic overhead floral chandeliers and lush backdrops, offering a whimsical, airy effect that softened the setting while adding volume without heaviness. The centrepieces featured an opulent floral arrangement with soft pink roses and baby’s breath (gypsophila), which created a romantic and sophisticated atmosphere. Dark green, heart-shaped acrylic table signs were perfectly fitting for the entire table setup. Crystal-cut wine glasses and water goblets had been arranged precisely, adding to the upscale and refined ambiance. Gold-plated cutlery was laid out neatly next to cream or champagne-coloured napkins, which were elegantly knotted. The tablecloth and napkins were in soft, neutral tones, which complemented the warm, golden lighting and enhanced the romantic feel of the setting. The dance floor itself was a stunning, glossy white surface, patterned with delicate, geometric floral motifs in soft blush tones. It shimmered beautifully under the evening lights and set the perfect stage for the couple’s first dance. Above the dance floor, suspended high in the open structure, was the most breathtaking floral chandelier. It was made of two massive rings entirely covered in soft pink gypsophila (baby’s breath). The rings floated above the dance floor like clouds, glowing softly under the warm ambient lighting. It created such a romantic and ethereal atmosphere — it truly felt magical standing beneath it. To the side of the floor, there was a chic ivory sofa with a modern, curved design. It was positioned as a cozy lounge spot and styled with matching blush-toned floral arrangements at its base. Everything felt so thoughtfully arranged, seamlessly blending elegance and comfort. The whole scene looked like something out of a luxury bridal magazine. Altogether, the palette and design created a timeless yet contemporary setting—an enchanting celebration suspended high above Dubrovnik’s historic beauty, where elegance met nature in perfect harmony.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

This wedding cake was a breathtaking centrepiece, radiating elegance and celebration. It stood tall as a three-tiered masterpiece, each layer exquisitely adorned with delicate pastel flowers—blush roses and pale hydrangeas—that added a soft, romantic touch to its overall design. The cake featured a smooth, matte finish in soft peachy-pink tones, which gave it an understated yet luxurious feel, perfectly complementing the floral décor and the ambiance of the evening. Sparklers lit up from the sides, creating a festive and magical moment as guests gathered around in admiration. Flavour Profile: Upper Tier: Vanilla with raspberry – light, fruity, and refreshing. Middle Tier: Vanilla-raspberry again, offering consistency for guests who enjoyed a bright, tangy flavour. Lower Tier: Chocolate fruit – rich and indulgent, providing a delicious contrast to the tiers above. Displayed on a modern acrylic stand and illuminated by the glow of chandeliers above, this cake wasn’t just a dessert—it was a symbolic highlight of the celebration, remembered for its beauty, flavour, and the joy it brought to everyone there.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The wedding ceremony began with Groom’s father, serving as the co-officiant and delivering a warm, humorous introduction. He welcomed the guests, acknowledged the joyous occasion of Peyvand and Tom’s marriage.

Dennis (groom’s father) then delivered a heartfelt speech, sharing short personal stories and kind words about Peyvand, Tom, and their relationship together.

Next came the exchange of vows, with Tom and Peyvand expressing their promises to each other. This was followed by the exchange of rings, during which each repeated traditional phrases symbolizing love, friendship, and lifelong commitment.

Finally, Dennis handed over the ceremony to Pajman, Peyvand’s brother and the primary officiant, for the remainder of the proceedings.

After dinner, Peyvand and Tom took to the dance floor for their romantic first dance to “L.O.V.E” by Nat King Cole, setting a joyful and heartfelt tone for the evening. As the celebration continued, the dance floor came alive—and just when the energy was at its peak, a surprise entrance by live drummers took the party to a whole new level, igniting the crowd and making the night truly unforgettable. Tom shared a deeply emotional moment with his mother as they danced to “Child of Mine” by Carole King. The heartfelt lyrics and their quiet connection created one of the most touching scenes of the evening, bringing tears to many eyes and reminding everyone of the profound bond between a mother and son. Later in the evening, the drummers brought a burst of energy with two lively Iranian songs—“Mobarak Bad (Rushid)” and “Bandari (Dokhtare).” The rhythmic beats and infectious melodies filled the room with joy, and it wasn’t long before everyone was on their feet, dancing together and celebrating in true festive spirit. It was a perfect fusion of cultures and an unforgettable highlight of the night.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

One of the most charming and memorable moments of the wedding was the incorporation of a cherished Persian wedding tradition that beautifully blends playfulness with deep cultural meaning. During the ceremony, when the officiant asked the bride the pivotal question—”Do you grant me permission to officiate this marriage?”—the atmosphere filled with anticipation. In keeping with tradition, the groom confidently and immediately responded with an enthusiastic “yes.” However, when the question was turned to the bride, she remained silent—not out of hesitation, but as part of a joyful custom. This ritual, known in Persian culture as the “Do you?” tradition, sees the bride remain quiet the first two times the question is asked, often smiling or looking to her family and friends in playful suspense. This tradition added a unique and endearing touch to the ceremony, showcasing the richness of Iranian culture and creating a heartfelt pause that everyone in the room will remember fondly.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

At the wedding, one of the most joyful and entertaining moments was the performance of the beloved Persian tradition known as “Raghseh Chagoo”—the knife dance. This lively and playful custom took place just before the cake cutting and instantly brought smiles, laughter, and a wave of energy to the celebration. As the guests gathered around, a female family member took centre stage, gracefully dancing while holding the cake knife. With each swirl and step, she teased the couple, playfully refusing to hand over the knife unless they offered a “payment” or a playful bribe. The dance was more than just a performance—it was a moment of shared joy, filled with music, clapping, and cheering from the guests. It symbolized not only the union of the couple but also the warmth and humour that family and tradition bring into a marriage. Raghseh Chagoo turned the simple act of cutting a cake into a cherished and unforgettable part of the night—one that blended cultural pride with pure celebration.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

At the wedding, there was an audio guest book corner, styled with elegance and charm. The decorator curated a romantic vignette centered around a vintage red rotary phone, placed on a classic ivory side table. Guests were invited to leave voice messages for the couple, turning the moment into a timeless keepsake. To make the space both functional and visually striking, a velvet shell-back chair in dusty rose was chosen for its plush texture and retro glamour. Surrounding the setup were abundant floral arrangements in shades of blush, mauve, and soft lavender, featuring roses, lisianthus, chrysanthemums, and pink gypsophila. These florals cascaded gracefully across the gravel-covered ground, adding depth and softness to the scene. Set against a lush backdrop of greenery and bathed in warm ambient lighting, the area felt intimate, stylish, and photogenic — a perfect blend of vintage charm and modern romance. It became a favourite among guests and seamlessly enhanced the overall wedding aesthetic.

New York Chic Meets Croatian Charm: A Heritage Wedding to Remember

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The inspiration for the wedding colors was to go beyond the usual fall color palettes of green and orange, which the bride found to be mundane. They wanted to make their wedding more romantic and fuller, so they added touches of pink and maroon to the color scheme. This helped them in achieving a more vibrant and captivating atmosphere, while still complementing the natural surroundings of the venue.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The bride and groom envisioned their wedding in Croatia as a simple yet elegant affair that emphasized the natural beauty of the venue and their Croatian heritage. They incorporated meaningful details, such as custom candles and food elements, in the décor. They chose a romantic color palette of pink and navy to deviate from the typical fall colors. The culinary aspect, especially through Michelin-worthy food and olive oil favors, played a significant role in celebrating the groom’s profession as a chef and the importance of food in Croatian culture.

In a heartwarming ode to their love story, Chris orchestrated a beautifully sentimental proposal at the very spot in Prospect Park where they captured their first selfie together as a couple. One of the deeply sentimental reasons that led Stephanie and Chris to choose San Canzian as their wedding venue was its close proximity to the village where Stephanie’s beloved grandmother was born. Her grandmother held an immensely special place in Stephanie’s heart, having been a significant and cherished part of her life. By selecting a venue so close to her grandmother’s roots, Stephanie felt a profound connection and a way to honor and include her grandmother’s memory in one of the most important days of her life. This added an extra layer of meaning and emotional depth to the couple’s celebration.

In a unique twist on a traditional wedding element, the couple chose an Istrian cookbook as their guestbook. From 5th PhotographyCroatia destination weddings most often come in one of three styles: intimate less than 12 person celebrations, 20-50 person multi-day parties, or large 50+ person luxury weddings. You’ll find that when looking at venues, they will lend themselves to one of these types of events, easily. Here you’ll see a perfect intimate wedding setting in a courtyard of the gorgeous Puteus Palace that pulls style inspiration from the affluent almost-secret vacation destination of Pučišća (pronounced pooch-eesh-chah). Noted as one of the 10 most beautiful cities in Europe, Pučišća can be reached by car or watercraft and sits in a natural bay on the island of Brač, that has a panorama of crystal clear waters, white limestone villas, ancient architecture, and beautiful yachts. Its charm is truly hard to put into words, but it was this charm that guided the design and style of this editorial. Croatia destination weddings don’t just focus on decor elements, they are about an experience.

The bride and groom were incredibly talented dancers from Slovenia who shared a love for visiting Croatia and a passion for each other. We wanted to capture this in every way possible on camera, but what was important to them as a couple was also to relax, stay close and make the most of their time in such an enchanting place. We showcased the couple getting ready together, steering away from tradition, and capturing that intimate ambiance where they even made time for a private salsa dance that you’ll see featured in the cinematographic film. After their dance, they made their way through the gorgeous interior halls together, ultimately making an entrance to the day together, down a gorgeous sunlit staircase and into the outdoors for the ceremony detailed with the most delicate and ethereal floral arch. After the ceremony, which took place on the shaded terrace at Puteus Palace, the bride and groom made their way through the striking gardens to their alter-styled feast table in the main courtyard that was adorned in endless white floral and candlelight to blend beautifully with the setting and tones. The intimate table for them and two other guests kept the attention on the bride and groom and framed them in the dreamy, white-stoned architectural surroundings. After an intimate dinner, starting with cured meat hors d’oeuvres and ending in coastal Croatian seafood delights, the couple ended with a nightcap walking the Riva – the harbor-lined footpaths – to settle into the evening, romancing as the sun and yachts came in for the night, bringing us all to our knees with their affection and chemistry.

It was so important to the team to showcase the sophistication and elevated experience that can be had in Croatia for destination weddings. Luxury accommodations, white-glove service, and incredible expertise is available and within reach to couples with on-trend professionals that serve destination couples in English. Croatia can serve every budget and taste with beautiful offerings, always giving an elevated feel and look. The crew that made this shoot possible was a mix of Croatian and US talent that specializes in serving wedding couples looking to host their destination wedding in Croatia.

Contemporary Elopement Complete with an Off-The-Rack Gown You Need to Own

Forget a custom ordered gown, who says you can’t wear on off-the-rack dress on your Big Day? No one, that’s who. Thankfully Nastja Kovacec Photography agrees which is why she snapped up this stunning elopement inspiration to share. See it all unfold in The Vault!

From Nastja Kovacec PhotographyI fell in love with Grožnjan back in 2013. This little village hasn’t really been on my radar as it is as secludes as it gets, with very little tourists wandering around. However, it is a perfect spot for a relaxed session away from the crowds, or to enjoy the view of the rolling hills. This inspirational shoot has been on my mind for two years, but only now the timing was perfectly right to organise it, and to unite all of the vendors I admire in one session. I’m so grateful for this group of people who share my vision and are always so willing to participate.

Inspired by old streets of Grožnjan, slate-blue theme, organic materials and the dreamy light, this shoot is definitely my favourite so far.
Not only Grožnjan is a perfect backdrop for photos, it is also a very intimate little place, amazing for honeymoon, it being only minutes away from the sea.

We went for a timelessly elegant outfits, with a very edgy headpiece for the bride, and subtle yet gorgeous make up.
We dreamt of a gorgeous, symmetrical bundle of florals in different shades of pink and a bit of greens. Meta from Sanjski Šopek did an amazing job combining beautiful peonies, ranunculus and roses with something as unexpected as garden and tree blooms, and some loose greens.
The wedding cake is very minimalistic. Seeing as Grožnjan is surrounded by countless olive groves Pcakes chose to decorate the cake with some olive branchlets finished with gold spray, while the blue marble fondant makes the cake even more elegant and classy.

But what make this shoot even better, were the ever so special weather conditions in Istria. The light is especially dreamy and lovely for portraits, cobbled streets and old buildings make the couple pop out nicely, while the sunset light warms the heart, and makes you want to move to Croatia and live in one of those old town apartments forever.

Dreamy Peach Destination Wedding at Hvar in Croatia

Ready, set, go: who is the first person you want to share this dreamy destination wedding with? Trust me it’s that good! So, get ready to be inspired because this peach filled fete is an homage to beauty. Kristina Malmqvist has shared type of vacation meets romance that one can only dream of, but lucky you because you get to experience it all first hand in THE VAULT!

From Kristina MalmqvistCoral and peach ran throughout the entire event space, from the lantern wedding centerpiece on each dinner table to the flowers on the wooden arch for ceremony, flowers on the cake, dresses for the bridesmaid’s and ties for the best men.

From The Bride…We wanted to share our true love with family and friends on a destination wedding. Since 2011 our favorite holiday destination have been Croatia. Each year we have gone back and spend more than 3 weeks on many islands outside of Split. Hvar became our favorite island. We love the light in Hvar – it is creamy and sexy. Hvar has so much to offer for those looking for culture, old world romance and breathtaking coastal views. Hvar is simply the idyllic romantic island with amazing coastal water, beautiful lavender fields to olive groves and vineyards.

It was love at the first sight when we both visited “bonj les Bains” during our first trip to Croatia. This architectural jewel with white stone colonnade from 1927 on two floors reflects sophisticated elegance and luxury by the sea. In 2011 during our first drink at “bonj les Bians” we both agreed this was THE perfect place for wedding.

In 2014 when Pontus proposed to Giselle they started to talk about destination wedding in Hvar at “bonj les Bains”. And a year later they flew over from Sweden and at “Bonj les Bains” with family and friends by their side, they said “I do”.

We were looking for sophisticated blend of both modern and classic elegance with a dash of romance. Since the architectural of our venue was made of white stone by tranquil blue water of Hvar, we found coral and peach the perfect contrast to the turquoise water and the venue. We chose a lovely color palette consisting of corals, peach, yellow and blush along with hint of white and green to create an atmosphere of modern romance. Peach and blush has its softer touch and suits well for the feminine and graceful look. With a mix of poppy corals, it completes the looks of a romantic and timeless wedding.

To correspond to our wedding color palette, we requested specific dress code to our wedding guests. Dress code indicated to only wear light and poppy colors – simply no black or darker shades of any color was allowed!

As bride with my white dress, I was a contrast to my bridesmaids dresses. So I wanted same contrast for our bouquets. I wanted them to carry white crispy gypsophilia bouquets matching my white dress. And I wanted colorful bouquet matching their dresses and our wedding color palette. My bouquet was made of poppy corals and peaches – just striking!

For our wedding we always wanted round tables with crispy white linens for tables and chairs since we believe it brings sophisticated look. Our idea was to have clean table set-up by having one “core” centerpiece on each table. For us lanterns would represent the sea and since we were having our wedding “on the sea” we had to have lanterns. So our talented floral designer Diana Medak had lanterns incorporated beautifully in the floral centerpiece on each table. The lanterns brought nice light to each table. To soften the feeling, we used smaller candles and softer blush for our wedding stationery made by talented Rose Murphy behind Rose and Ruby Paper Co. Romantic coral and peach was a must-have color for us and was brought out in the bridesmaids’ dresses and most of the floral design. We wanted 2 arches to be made, one on the upper floor for our ceremony and one on the lower floor to be displayed behind us while sitter at our table.

Looking back, we are so in love with all the details, and are proud of how it all came together.

From PJ PhotosMasha and Fred live in Brussels, but for their wedding day they chose to travel to Solta, a small island in the central Croatian archipelago. It has just five villages and just over 1,000 inhabitants. On this hidden pearl of Croatia, they found everything they had been looking for their special day: a small fishing village, a beautiful old church on the very top of the island, a marvelous castle from the 17th century, the crystal blue sea and magnificent rocky beaches…

Masha was born in Croatia, but most of her life she has been living in Spain and Belgium. The idea of getting married on one of Croatian islands, where, in her childhood,  she had used to spend so many holidays with her family, was very appealing. The only thing that she wanted to avoid was a popular destination full of tourists. She dreamed about a hidden place, one that was small and beautiful. So when she saw the amazing hotel and restaurant Martinis Marchi, Masha knew that she had found her perfect place to say “I do.” Masha occupied the main apartment, spreading over four floors. It was a perfect place for preparations…

The wedding ceremony took place in St. Stephen Church (Sveti Stjepan) in Grohote, the biggest and the most beautiful church on the whole island. Guests came from all over Europe, and many of them decided to take advantage of this trip to Croatia and stay a little bit longer to enjoy the Adriatic. On Friday night, there was a friendly little party in the beach club with a white dress code, which featured delicious, local food, well-done cocktails and a marvelous sunset…
