Design/vision/vibe: The theme was a candlelit DC holiday, with nods to “The Nutcracker.” The ceremony took place at Dahlgren Chapel of the Sacred Heart on the Georgetown University campus. It was followed by a candlelit reception, inspired by “The Nutcracker,” at Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Maryland. The evening prior, a welcome dinner was held at the Capitol Hill Club. After the welcome dinner, guests sipped hot chocolate and champagne while taking in the national monuments on a private trolley tour. Our fabulous photographer, Audra Wrisley, and our amazing wedding planner, Caroline Dutton, were critical to the success of the event!

Food & Drink: Our signature drinks were mistletoe margaritas and Yule mules, both with edible glitter! We also had “Nana’s sugarplum fairy mocktail,” which was a non-alcoholic Shirley Temple for children attending. All food and drink were prepared by Columbia Country Club, with the exception of the wedding cake and espresso martinis. We started with a raw bar that included oysters, clams, and shrimp. An ice sculpture of a gingerbread man overlooked the setup. Passed appetizers included: -Lobster Medallion, Curry Aioli, Naan Crostini -Petite Crab Cluster, Lemon Remoulade, Toast Round -Saffron Arancini, Fresh Mozzarella, Herb Aioli -Melted Brie, Raspberry Coulis, Phyllo Dough Cup -Herb Chicken Skewer, Spicy Peanut Sauce For dinner, we started with a salad of Buffalo mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, basil, lemon oil and aged balsamic. This was followed by filet mignon with Pinot Noir jus, crabcake with lemon remoulade, truffle potato au gratin, and haricot verts. In addition to our wedding cake, we had chocolate-covered strawberries, an ice cream sundae bar, and a vast array of Christmas cookies, including gingerbread men, linzer cookies, iced sugarcookiess and coconut snowballs. Later in the evenings, we had espresso martinis and cappuccinos with gingerbread men printed on them! Our late-night snack was smashburgers, chicken tenders, and waffle fries.
