Our wedding planner, Katie Mcentire, made all of our wedding design dreams come to life more than we could have ever imagined!! My vision for the wedding was to make it bright, airy, and elegant, and to ensure that every detail was thoughtfully planned out. I absolutely loved how we incorporated different textures to fill the space, yet not overwhelm it. Every design choice was made to feel intentional yet unforced, creating an atmosphere that invites guests to slow down and enjoy everything from the day. Between the floral installations that seemed to hover in midair and the soft, patterned linens below, everything worked together to create a setting that felt both elevated and welcoming. Our goal was to make everything beautifully intentional, and the space did just that.

Our friendship started in the 3rd grade, and in high school, our love story began! Christian asked me out when we were juniors in high school, and 5 years later, he proposed in the same spot! We did long distance in college for 4 years, and our love grew stronger and stronger every year. The summer of 202,4, Christian walked me around the park where he had asked me out 5 years a, and I had zero clue he was about to propose, so clueless that when we walked near the setup up I smiled and said, “Someone is about to get engaged over there!” I had no idea that somebody was going to me, but so blessed that it was! Christian had thought out every detail, from a custom bible with my new last name and the day he had booked our wedding date engraved on it, to having beautiful flowers that were my favorite colors, and an ELEVEN-MINUTE speech. It was the most perfect proposal that I could have ever prayed for!

I got to wear the amazing Ines Di Santo “Canto” gown and matching veil with the same applique detailing. For the reception, I wanted to wear something fun and different. I wore a light blue Retrofete mini dress.

The bridesmaid dresses were the “Rene” from Amsale. They were the perfect timeless, elegant, flattering dress. And everyone could get down on the dance floor in them, which is the most important part!

Christian wanted to wear a unique color, so our tuxes were light/lake blue to match our wedding color. We got them from The Black Tux, and Christian got all of his groomsmen personalized dress socks that had something to do with their friendship.

During cocktail hour, there were hors d’oeuvres: bacon-wrapped shrimp, chicken feta puff pastries, and tomato bruschetta with garlic crostini from the incredible Event Group Catering Staff. Drinks at cocktail hour from Mint 2 Mix consisted of two specialty cocktails, a mango tango and a hibiscus margarita, as well as wine and beer. For our reception guests had a choice of pecan-crusted salmon, garlic steak, or chicken. As the night went on, we had a light night boozy bean cocktail to keep the guests energized for the dance floor!

Our florals and decor were seriously a dream come true and felt like a fairytale. I was so thankful to get married in the spring to be able to incorporate all of my favorite flowers to fill the space and make it feel magical. Silks a Bloom incorporated all of my favorite flowers of hydrangeas, tulips, peonies, and so much more into the most beautiful arrangements. From the beautiful cross arrangement at our ceremony, the hanging hydrangea arrangements, and the amazing arrangements on the serpentine tables, every detail was perfectly thought out. Our decor also pulled everything together, and every detail was perfectly thought out. Some of my favorite decor pieces were our umbrellas filled with hydrangea at cocktail hour, our seating chart with the perfect lighting fixtures, handwritten messages on our napkins, seating arrangements, and a personalized round bar. Dayflower Designs made all of our signage dreams come to life and made sure every detail was thoughtfully personalized for our guests and us. Everything flowed perfectly and made the day more than we could have ever imagined.

We had an amazing 5-layer cake from Shelby Lynn’s. It was simple yet grand, timeless, and elegant. The cake was a tall, sleek, white cake with a light green bow with our initials. Guests had the choice between chocolate, vanilla, chocolate with raspberry filling, or vanilla with strawberry filling cake.

Our amazing officiant, Cale, was our high school pastor growing up, which was so special to us. Our main goal in our ceremony was to glorify Christ and all he has done for us. Our officiant delivered the most special message that captured every detail of our story and put God at the center of it all. We were in a puddle of tears and full of laughter all together. During the ceremony, the cellist played “Praise” as our family came down the aisle, “Gratitude” for the bridal party, “The Blessing” as I walked down the aisle, “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us” during communion, and our DJ played Cheek to Cheek by Frank Sinatra for the exit. Our first dance song was “Nothing New” by Brandon Lake, and then our reception was an absolute party from the best DJ ever, JRedBeats! Seriously had the time of our lives at our favorite party ever!

Since we had such a large number of guests, we wanted to make sure every guest there still knew how special they were to us and how happy we were that they were there to celebrate with us. Hand-wrote a letter for all 300 guests, sharing sweet memories we have with them and how much they have impacted our lives. We knew we wanted to do this as soon as we got engaged, but seeing all the tears shed by people reading their notes was the most special moment.

Our first date was at Whataburger in high school after a school basketball game. It led to a tradition of honey butter chicken biscuits after games! So we had to have a late-night snack of honey butter chicken biscuits for guests, which were a hit!

We really wanted to make sure that we got private quality time on our wedding day to soak it all in. Instead of doing a first look, we did a first touch while we prayed over our ceremony and did private personal vows, as well as had a private dinner after the ceremony. We are so thankful for the special time we get to just enjoy each other’s company, being the new Franciscos.

The wedding celebration was a true feast for the senses, with Roche Harbor showcasing the abundance of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Guests savored a beautiful Salish Sea oyster station alongside passed bites of lamb meatballs with a dash of rosemary-mint chimichurri, Korean barbecue bulgogi lettuce cups, and delicate Dungeness crab cakes. Dinner was an ode to the land and sea, featuring Roche Harbor’s renowned slow-roasted prime rib of beef and Salish Sea cedar plank Tyee king salmon, complemented by buttery Alaskan Weathervane scallops and sesame-crusted yellowfin tuna stations. To toast the evening, signature cocktails — a bold Midnight Manhattan and a playful Shipwrecked Mule — were served with custom stirrers featuring the couple’s beloved dog, a detail that made the experience as personal as it was unforgettable.

Emerald City Flowers brought the couple’s vision to life with lush florals that were a celebration of coastal romance, blending soft blue hues, creamy whites, and abundant green foliage. At the ceremony, everything from bridesmaid bouquets and flower girl baskets to the ground arrangements was thoughtfully designed, incorporating woven wicker baskets that reflected the desire for natural wooden elements. For the reception, layered, garden-inspired arrangements in the coastal palette transformed the space into a breathtaking ambiance. The reception tablescape was a seamless union of coastal elegance and natural charm, thoughtfully curated with wicker and glass holders from Emerald City Flowers and Events by Genevieve. Graceful blue printed linens from BBJ La Tavola set the foundation, while wicker chandeliers from Slavus Wedding Lights cast a warm, romantic glow for the reception. On the Wall Design Studio’s rattan table, number signs added a textural coastal detail, perfectly complementing the natural wooden elements throughout the design. The look was completed with refined tabletop rentals from CORT, creating a design that was as classic as it was inviting.

Chance & Collin’s wooden sailboat guest book was a cherished highlight, inviting guests to leave their well-wishes upon a piece that beautifully channeled the day’s coastal spirit. It quickly became a beloved detail of the celebration, drawing smiles and admiration as friends and family added their notes to this timeless keepsake.

Each cigar was wrapped with a custom sticker designed by the couple, making the experience feel all the more personal and memorable.[/field]

The groom was gifted a custom handkerchief, thoughtfully designed by the bride’s mother, a tender gesture that wove family love and sentiment into the fabric of the celebration. Delicately stitched upon it were the words, “You captured the heart of my daughter in a way only you could,” a timeless token carried with him on their wedding day.

Château de Villette Elegance Meets Contemporary Couture in a Peach & Sage Palette

The design felt classical but with modern twists – for example, the bride’s gown had sculptural folds and embroidery, and multiple dress changes reflected different moods. The overall tone was intimate, refined, and full of thoughtful details.

Dara and Alex met during their first year at Cornell Law School (2015). Their romance grew through shared student life – study sessions, the cold Ithaca winters – and their personalities were often described as yin and yang. Later, Dara had a fellowship in Paris, where Alex lived with her; they explored museums and châteaus. Choosing France as the wedding location was partly to honor that chapter in their life together.

A Feminine Carmel Valley Ranch Wedding Where Garden Greens Meet Delicate Bows

With touches of bows and hints of green, Shane and Josie were married at Carmel Valley Ranch in a celebration filled with elegant, feminine details. Josie worked closely with her mom throughout the planning process, discovering a green bar early on that became the cornerstone of their design. Colors and flowers were chosen to complement it, blending joyful blush blooms with a garden-inspired aesthetic. “Everything was beyond our wildest dreams,” the couple shared. After their Italian honeymoon, they look forward to reliving the day again and again through photos and cherished memories.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Josie says that Shane was both her first and last date on Bumble — an instant success story. After dating, moving in together, and welcoming two dogs into their family, the couple became engaged in August 2023. Shane had planned a trip to Napa, and Josie suspected what was coming — especially with her mom constantly saying, “I’m so excited for you.” She was almost certain the proposal would happen there. But instead, Shane chose a place with even deeper meaning: Josie’s parents’ home in California. On the beach, during a cozy picnic, Shane got down on one knee. “I cried instantly and of course said yes,” Josie recalled. They later returned to the house, where her parents were waiting to celebrate with a surprise engagement party. “The proposal was more perfect than I could have ever dreamed.”[/field]

As she recounts, “I have always loved bows (before they were trendy), so I knew that I would walk down the aisle with a bow somewhere on my dress. To my surprise, the dress I cried in and fell in love with did not have a bow. I, of course, had to add one to put my own touch on it. I have never felt more beautiful in my life!” Later in the evening, she changed into a babydoll mini dress for the reception — complete with feminine ruffles and bows, of course.

Shane had just two requests — selecting the food and inviting donkeys to cocktail hour. Guests enjoyed cocktail hour across the manicured grounds, sipping drinks served by the farm’s sweet donkeys as live string players set the tone. For dinner, they dined on Shane’s selections of a little gem and apple salad and an all-natural filet of beef.

Together, Josie and Shane loved seeing it all come together: a lush floral arch, a signature cocktail sign illustrated with sketches of their dogs, a flower-box-inspired seating chart that doubled as a photo backdrop, and a custom crest woven throughout the decor. The evening unfolded into a reception awash in soft pink, where satiny tablecloths, crystal, candlelight, and a bow-adorned cake created a dreamy atmosphere.

The Cohasset Golf Club provided the food and beverage. The first course was an heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad with arugula and focaccia croutons. The entree was filet mignon with herb-crusted Atlantic cod as well as spinach and ricotta cannelloni. The couple had signature cocktails, which included the “Bri Tii’, a classic cosmopolitan and ‘Teddy’s Transfusion, a refreshing highball

The oyster shell details were such a thoughtful nod to the couple’s coastal setting. The bar front, adorned with layers of oyster shells, became a true statement piece. The motif carried through to the escort card wall and the custom envelope liner. As for the flowers, Kerianne Nelson Flora incorporated crisp white blooms, like dahlias, roses, and delicate accent flowers, and paired them with fresh greenery for a look that felt organic and effortlessly elegant.

Love was definitely on the blue side, from the wedding stationery to the view, we could easily stay hypnotised by this amazing blue palette from sunrise to sunset. With exquisite finesse and savoir-faire, the celebration shifts from endless shades of blue to a more organic palette. The reception tables, adorned with lush tropical leaves and vibrant green accents, bring an exotic touch to the scene. Two long, perfectly styled tables stretched across the magnificent terrace of the Domaine, overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, create a setting that feels both timeless and enchanting.

We chose two long tables and no sweetheart table to feel close and surrounded by our 95 guests. We used an earthy tone of velvet tablecloths with elements of tan organic linens as well, with taper and pillar candles. We also wanted to incorporate our family Shiba Inu, Hachi, by adding a hand-drawn image of him in a tuxedo on the bar menu. The drinks were an Asian touch to honor our heritage, named Lychee Ever After + Yuzu & Me.

I had a feeling he was going to propose soon because we had talked about our future, our goals, and our plan to be together. We went to London and Paris for a spring trip. I had told him if you’re going to propose, please make it private, as I am very shy, LO, L, and would get stage fright. In our beautiful, hot, El Grand Hotel Du Palais Royal, he proposed right after we had the perfect sunset dinner. It was just us two, which is exactly what I wanted, and in a stunning hotel ( where they filmed the Emily in Paris office was right outside our hotel window)!

Their journey led them to a summer engagement shoot in the charming alleys of Atrani, brought to life through timeless, luminous imagery by Sergio Sorrentino, with a vintage red Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider adding just the right touch of nostalgic refinement. The invitation suite, crafted on handmade paper and adorned with an illustration of the venue by local artist Vittorio of Buongiorno Ravello, set the tone for a celebration deeply rooted in place and season. This Ravello wedding was more than a destination event (it became a love letter to each other, to their family, and to their closest friends, filled with joy, artful details, and emotion).

For Italians, food is more than a nourishment; it’s a way to connect and know each other. That’s why, on the day before, each guest has been called to join a hands-on pizza-making class, followed by a rustic pizza party under the stars, at Trattoria da Lorenzo: an original and fun way to make friends and challenge themselves. On the wedding day, the menu featured culinary delights like the risotto with yellow cherry tomatoes and mozzarella, culminating in a lemon tiramisu that honored the region’s beloved citrus. A custom Prosecco wall kept glasses full while the rhythm carried everyone into the night. As the stars and nocturnal storm appeared, the wedding group moved poolside, under a cozy covered marquee, with a DJ set by Dj Fabio Anastasio, a late-night wood-fired pizza snack, and a dramatic Lambeth-style cake cutting moment framed by sparkling fireworks fountains.

The autumnal color palette came to life through the gorgeous florals by Rosalinda Flowers Weddings Lab, complementing both the attire and the natural surroundings. The dinner beneath centuries-old olive trees was a scene from a dream: crystal chandeliers twinkled above the green joile de toile table that looked like a Flemish painting, with a lush meadow-effect floral runner running along the entire length, seasonal fruits – small miniature pumpkins! – for an opulent finishing touch and refined plates, and colorful glassware.

The symbolic ceremony overlooking the sea at Belmond Hotel Caruso was pure magic, and when a gentle drizzle began to fall mid-vows, the guests smiled knowingly (the groom’s family has Italian origins). In Italian tradition, in fact, a touch of rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck, and in that moment, it felt like a blessing. Throughout the ceremony, a trio of violin, cello, and harp enchanted everyone with Stand By Me and other songs cherished by the couple.

Their celebration at the Fairmount Horticulture Center embraced the lush, woodland-inspired aesthetic they love, with abundant greenery, floral installations, a custom dance floor, and a stunning ceiling display that transformed the space. To bring depth and dimension, we introduced rich pops of mauves and purples, balancing the verdant backdrop with a bold and romantic palette. In a nod to their shared love of nature and thoughtful details, guests were treated to a custom succulent seating chart — both a guide and a gift. The music reflected their cultural fusion as well, with a mix of current pop and Bollywood beats keeping the dance floor full all night. From the heartfelt inclusion of Mike’s late mother’s engagement ring to the couple’s adorable puppy making his presence known in stories throughout the weekend, every element of the day was full of intention, warmth, and love. How to Ditch the Nerves and Get the Best Engagement Photos Ever

For many of us, our engagement photos are the very first time we’ve ever “modeled” for a camera. And it’s terrifying. So what’s a girl (or boy) to do? Well, we’ve enlisted the help of Lance Nicoll – photographer behind some of those beloved e-sessions that make their way around pinterest and instagram and the eye behind some of SMP’s most popular weddings. And being the great guy that he is, Lance is breaking it all down for us so that despite our nerves…killer engagement photos are just a click away.

Make it an Adventure

Choosing your location for your engagement or couple’s session is one of the key components to any great shoot. Sometimes, we have amazing scenic settings right in our backyard, but if not, don’t be hesitant to turn your engagement session into an adventure. Hopping in the car and road tripping it to neighboring towns, places and spaces is a sure way to ensure that your backdrop is inspiring to you. If it’s inspiring, it will set the foundation for incredibly photography. Or if you are really up for something special, making a mini-vacation around your engagement session can also be a great idea as well. Be adventurous and make your session location a lifetime memory in itself.

Take the Time to Plan Your Attire

Give special consideration to your wardrobe for the day. Possibly asking your photographer for their insight can be a great way to start. I always tell my couple’s that dressing up looks fantastic but it is important to feel like yourself as well. For ladies soft, flowy solids are always beautiful. Brilliant colors like reds and blue can also be stunning. I personally recommend staying away from complex patterns as they can take away from you and your surroundings. For my guys, I say dress accordingly to your fiancé. Casual pants and a sport coat can be a nice first look or a nice button down without the jacket can be great, then for your second look just step it up a bit – a nice tailored suit without the tie can be a perfect option. When you feel good in what you are wearing, a natural confidence or softness comes thru and the imagery is that much more lovely.

Lose yourself … In Each Other

It sounds counter-intuitive, but I tell my couple’s “it’s just you two here, no one else. This is the person you love more than anyone else in the world, forget I am here and just be in love.” I love to give easy simple directions and allow my couples to get swept away in how they feel for each other. Usually after the first few minutes I can sense our couple’s getting comfortable and just being in the moment. This is another reason why location can be so important, private spaces can lend to more intimate beautiful imagery.

That said, even to the most in love pair, putting aside nerves can be a challenge. And yet the solution is often really simple. Talk to each other. Tell each other about your day or recount a funny/charming/romantic moment that you had together. Start with a joke. That is usually all it takes to crack the tension and give you the space to relax and just let the day unfold.

Take Your Time

Creating authentic and engaging images with your photographer means not feeling rushed. Take your time. Having more than one location and planning smartly with your photographer is key. Having a sunrise location and a sunset location can be a great way of ensuring plenty of time for amazing images. Take your time, I’d rather my couples have 100 lifelong memories rather than 1000 rushed images. As a photographer who shoots with film, we are innately trained to slow down, to talk to our couple’s, shoot a few frames, and then step back and assess how we can capture our couple exactly as they are.

For photographer’s out there, talk to your couple during the shoot, ask them questions – simple ones and more storied ones – and sometimes just step back and watch them, don’t shoot. Familiarize with how they interact naturally. And let that be your guide.

Follow the Light.

It may be a tip that you’ve heard before…but only because it’s so important. Plan around ideal lighting. This may mean getting up very early for that beautiful morning light and being ready in the evening for that golden hour before sunset. Shooting with soft golden light brings an un-paralleled beauty and warmth to your collection.

Also, be prepared to be flexible. If traveling in for a session I always like to have a back-up time slot, so for instance if we get rained out or weather isn’t cooperating we can shoot the next morning.

The food was reflected in classic Lowcountry selections and favorites, as this was a destination for all of the guests, and they spent the evening dining on classics like shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, shooters, and more.

The wedding ceremony occurred at the French Huguenot Church, a lovely pink church with all the iconic Charleston charm. We embellished its entrance with a floral composition that would go around the entrance, making an impactful first impression on all guests upon arrival, and a beautiful frame for the processional. For the Cocktail Hour and Wedding Reception at The Gibbes Museum of Art, the design highlighted Presley’s deep love for flowers and the meaningful connection Presley and Tyler have to postcards, which they have collected throughout their travels since they first started dating. Floral patterns adorned the linens, napkins, plates, stationery pieces, and even some of the taper candles via hand-painted flowers, while floral arrangements cascaded from the ceiling, with additional floral accents enhancing the stage and dance floor. The seating chart featured postcards showcasing iconic Charleston landmarks and symbols, displayed in a bookshelf decorated with a floral pattern backdrop, floral accents in bud vases, and little bust sculptures creating the feel of an art exhibition within the museum. At each table, guests discovered another matching postcard at their assigned seats, one for them to keep as a souvenir and another one to write down a love letter to the couple, which they placed in a mailbox stationed at the exit by the end of the evening.

They went with a simple white cake with a fun, artistic design for a nod to the Gibbes Museum, and decided to make it a chic welcome moment to make it appear to be floating in a bouquet of florals.

The ceremony music was beautifully and carefully selected to reflect the couple’s deep personal connection to their faith. A friend sang a beautiful rendition of “Goodness of God,” a favorite song of the couple, and there was truly not a dry eye in the house during this moment.

Just a glimpse: For the rehearsal dinner at the Iron Rose restaurant of the Mills Hotel, we opted for a patterned linen with rounded shapes alongside rounded stationery pieces to reassemble the elegant arches of the restaurant. We wanted to blend the decor elements we brought with the venue’s architectural charm. The tables were also adorned with a combination of soft candlelight and delicate bud vases filled with diverse flowers, providing a romantic ambiance. For the welcome cocktails, we envisioned a relaxed, tropical, contemporary aesthetic that felt fun and interactive. We selected linens with large botanical leaf patterns and vibrant colors. With the courtyard having so much pink color, we thought it best to embrace that same colorful energy. The combination of these linens with contemporary bud vases and accent pillows in the same color scheme helped us create the desired atmosphere.

A Modern Citrus-Washed Celebration Rooted in Personal Style and Thoughtful Design

Note from the Bride on colors: To preface, when it comes to colors and florals, I just have strong preferences for what I like and don’t like the look of, based on what basically speaks to me. First off, I really love the look of monochromatic florals – I love how they are minimal on one hand but also bold and statemental. When it comes to colors, I love light pastel yellow as a color and always knew I wanted yellow florals BUT I also loved the idea of having my favorite citruses (oranges, grapefruits) as part of my tablescape (I love fruit, and at the time, I saw a lot of inspo pics on pinterest of citruses so that’s how I decided that). However, obviously, oranges/grapefruits would not fit a monochrome look if I did yellow florals. So that’s what led me to have two different color schemes for the ceremony and reception (so I could do both visions!). I wanted the ceremony to have a more classic/timeless and meadowy feel, with the color to be pastel yellow and white. And then for the reception, I really wanted to do a burnt orange monochrome look to tie in with the citruses and be more of a modern and bold statement in contrast with the greenery of the greenhouse. Part of why I came to love the burnt orange color was because I saw a photo of some poppies in a perfect dark orange color that I just loved. So much so, I originally really wanted to do only poppies on the tables, but I learned it wasn’t going to be possible since they were out of season. Part of another reason I love the look of poppies is that I like flowers that are more delicate looking with broader petals (I don’t love flowers with a ton of petals like roses, ranunculus, dahlias). I’m not sure if poppies are my FAVORITE flower, but they are definitely ONE of my favorites (irises are obviously one of my other favorites). To end, the overall vision I wanted for my wedding was something that was modern, laid-back, bright, and happy (hence my preference for yellow and orange), and something that was unique to me.

I hand-drew/designed almost all of our paper items, so the wedding invites/save the dates, escort cards (drawings of each person/couple), table numbers, and bar menu. I even made a font with my own handwriting, so I didn’t have to actually handwrite every name. I used an app called ProCreate on my iPad to design everything. I had dried orange slices placed on each menu to lean more into the citrus theme. For florals that I didn’t include earlier, I wanted my bouquet to be white so it would match with both my ceremony and reception and also on the smaller side (smaller bouquets once again felt more laid back and casual than huge ones) It was supposed to be only white irises, but the florist said she had issues with the irises so I only had one or two irises in my bouquet sadly.

Andrew and I met on Hinge – we went on our first date just 2 weeks before the entire city of NYC shut down due to COVID. All our friends in the city ended up leaving the city during that time, so we ended up basically living together 4-5 days a week in the same apartment, just 3 months after we had met. We got close really fa, st and the rest was history! As for our engagement, I told Andrew I wanted to be surprised, and he definitely surprised me! He decided to propose during a trip that I had planned to visit some of my friends who lived in SF in January 2024. Long story short, prior to the proposal, I was actually in a bad mood due to various circumstances related to his plan to propose at Lands End Lookout at sunset. He ended up asking a “random person” (the photographer he hired) nearby to take a photo of us, and ended up proposing as she “took a photo for us.”

My dress was the Jeanette from Sophie et Voilà, a Spanish designer. I always envisioned myself in something more modern and simple (no traditional ball gown). My veil was from Etsy. For my reception look, my top was a corset top from Kiki de Montparnasse (I think it is technically a lingerie top) from Revolve. I just loved the two-piece look. The skirt was from Anthropologie. The lace gloves were from Etsy.

No bridesmaids – I asked her why, and here’s what she said: Part of it was that wedding parties felt very traditional to me, and I just don’t love many of the really traditional things done in weddings. The whole formal process of asking your friends to be your bridesmaid, asking them to buy certain dresses to wear and then having them walk down the aisle felt really foreign to me, so I decided to skip that part and just have my closest girlfriends spend the day getting ready with me (which in my opinion is the most meaningful part of having “bridesmaids”).

Dinner was family style (see dinner menu for items) – I liked how it created a more intimate and casual/laid-back feel. My friends and I always share food family style when we eat out at restaurants! See our bar menu for the 3 signature drinks we had – would like to note that I don’t drink alcohol (doesn’t taste good to me and my body doesn’t handle alcohol well either!), so one of the drinks needed to be a mocktail! For cocktail hour, we had a large charcuterie board, and the hor d’oeuvres were: Mini buttermilk biscuits, Honey roasted onion tartlets, Roast beef crostini, Red pepper chutney with cucumber slices on flatbread, White Bean Tomato & Roasted Garlic Bruschetta, Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce, Cocktail shrimp skewers, Mini crab cakes. Dessert was just assorted lemon curd tartlets, brownies, and berry fruit tartlets. Also, a smores station outside next to the fire pit – we loved this idea as it helped create a more relaxed/hanging out vibe. We had late evening food – warm pretzels with mustard, tater tots, chicken tenders

Refined Villa Romance Blending Classical Italian Grandeur with Modern Elegance

Surrounded by its timeless beauty, she knew instantly that her celebration should feel both elegant and modern, classic yet romantic. Together, we designed a wedding aesthetic that highlighted the villa’s historic charm while reflecting her sophisticated spirit. A refined palette of crisp white became the foundation, elevated with delicate touches of gold and a hint of black for contrast. The result was a look that felt effortlessly timeless—graceful, refined, and perfectly in harmony with the splendor of Villa Aurelia.

A classical script font was carefully chosen to honor the historical significance of Villa Aurelia and to highlight its timeless elegance. The stationery was kept traditional, almost as if it belonged to the villa’s own era. To complete the design, a bespoke wedding monogram was crafted and carried throughout every detail—from the invitations to the welcome sign, and all the way to the printed menus. The overall aesthetic was refined and classical, yet elevated with modern accents. Black ribbons adorned the menus, while elegant white iron chairs subtly echoed the villa’s enchanting gardens. The reception tables were styled with sleek, modern mono-flower vases, creating a clean and contemporary contrast. To add an extra layer of elegance, chandeliers in varying shapes and sizes were suspended above the dining table, casting a warm glow that enhanced the romantic atmosphere. At the entrance of the villa, a decorative table welcomed guests, beautifully draped and adorned with candlesticks—an enchanting detail that set the tone for the evening. Modernity then embraced history in the magical Sala Aurelia, where a striking black-and-white dance floor was set beneath the villa’s grandeur. French Illuminism–inspired sofas added a refined touch of sophistication, creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable celebration that seamlessly blended timeless elegance with contemporary design.

The aperitif was a delightful explosion of traditional Italian flavors, from fresh mozzarella to prosciutto crudo sliced to order. Elegant finger foods were passed around, including crostini topped with salmon tartare and creamy goat cheese. A dedicated show-cooking station offered traditional Italian fried treats, such as miniature panzerotti, adding a studied and carefully curated touch.
For the dinner, a carefully curated meat menu featured dishes that were both authentic and refined. The evening concluded with a lavish dessert buffet, showcasing gelato and classic Italian sweets, a sweet finale that perfectly reflected the couple’s love for tradition and elegance.[/field]

To follow the timeless romance that served as the guiding thread throughout the wedding, we chose to incorporate roses at every moment. The ceremony, held in the Secret Garden, beautifully blended tradition and modernity with an altar composed of parallelepipeds draped in flowing white fabrics, candles, and long-stemmed roses. A special corner was dedicated to the welcome sign, where guests could pick up delicate paper parasols to stay comfortable during the July afternoon ceremony. During the aperitif, elegant white wooden counters were adorned with refined floral arrangements, creating a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere. But the true “wow” moment arrived at dinner: an imperial table set with crystal chargers edged in gold and exquisite gold flatware. Black ribbons tied the menus to the napkins, introducing a subtle modern accent. Monoflower vases with white roses, candles, and five stunning chandeliers—each covered with greenery on their stands—completed the setup, evoking the feeling of dining in the villa’s lush garden and perfectly complementing the Limoni Garden and the façade of Villa Aurelia. For the evening’s dancing, a black-and-white checkered dance floor echoed the palette of the wedding, while French-inspired sofas in the style of Louis XIV paid homage to the historic elegance of the villa. At the entrance, a decorative table draped in soft fabrics and adorned with candles and elegant bows welcomed guests, setting the tone for an unforgettable celebration.

The contemporary twist of a live-cooking cake station allowed the couple to compose their own wedding cake, blending creativity with engagement. This modern approach was paired with the choice of a quintessentially Italian classic—the millefoglie—creating a dessert that was both elegant and delicious. The cake cutting became a true spectacle, entertaining guests while giving the couple the joy of crafting their own nuptial centerpiece.[/field]

Guests were treated to classic Italian songs performed with traditional instruments such as tambourine, guitar, and drum. Moving from table to table, the singer brought the authentic spirit of Italy to life, creating an immersive and unforgettable experience for everyone.

The bride had always been captivated by the modern elegance of drapery, though initially, we weren’t sure how to seamlessly incorporate it into the villa’s historic setting. Since the wedding took place in July, our vision was to host the entire celebration in the villa’s magnificent gardens, where excessive drapery might have overwhelmed the natural surroundings. Instead, we created a dedicated modern corner inside the villa, directly facing the main entrance, so it could be admired by every guest. Historical candle holders were paired with flowing drapery and single-flame candles, accented with large, elegant bows—blending contemporary style with the villa’s timeless charm.

The couple had an incredible time with an exceptional team of photographers, videographers, and content creators. Their five bridesmaids and five groomsmen, all dressed in black, celebrated alongside them, taking countless photos in front of Villa Aurelia’s striking white façade. The focus was on enjoying the moment while maintaining a high level of elegance, as if they were a regal entourage, creating unforgettable memories and stunning, sophisticated images.

A Warm Wine Country Gathering Inspired by Seasonal Hues and Playful Details

Abby and Bobby wanted it to feel elevated but never too serious, with natural textures, lush florals, and playful touches. ‘Because we were surrounded by beautiful vineyards and gorgeous barns- we wanted to play into the natural colors of the region, but also it still feels like summertime in September in Santa Yne, and so we wanted to play into a bright and joyful aesthetic too, but while still leaning into the fall with dark blues and moss colors. We wanted our wedding to be fun and memorable, especially since most of our guests were from out of town. We emphasized good food, good drinks, and good music. ‘

A hot air balloon surprise at dinner, the couple’s dog Millie crashing cocktail hour in a flower collar, and a dance party in the barn that went late into the night with espresso martinis and pizza. All of our wine at the wedding was made using grapes from the vineyard, and we had a special cocktail menu that included personal drinks such as the below: ‘ The Proposal A bright and celebratory sip blending vodka with tropical passion fruit, fresh lemon, and a hint of bitters. A bold twist on a margarita, this cocktail mixes tequila with crisp cucumber, zesty lime, and jalapeño heat, finished with a chili salt rim. Smooth scotch layered with yuzu, ginger, lemon, and honey for a warming yet citrus-forward drink.

What made it truly special was that the vineyard and wine were all family grown and made, infusing the celebration with heritage and heart.

Friday night’s Pasta Party featured Pelican Hill’s Italian villa architecture and homemade pasta, with a color palette of greens, lavender, and yellow, and flower arrangements including vegetables and a fresh mozzarella pulling station. The couple hosted a dessert and dancing afterparty for a fun night out in Laguna Beach at local watering hole Mozambique.

Natasha and Brian met in 2012 at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and started dating in May 2015. and celebrated their 10th anniversary weekend with a 4-day wedding celebration. Natasha is the Director of Finance for a group of nonprofit charter schools serving low-income LA neighborhoods. Brian is an orthopaedic surgery resident doctor at the University of Southern California. In their free time, they like to travel, work out, attend concerts, spend time with friends, and cook and eat all types of asian food.

Natasha wore a qipao from Taiwan for Thursday and then a Rachel Gilbert one-shoulder dress for the Friday Pasta Party and afterparty. She worked with OC based stylist Lesley Brickman to put together this outfit. Natasha worked with Kynah LA on her reception look and wore a custom ivory Dori lehenga by designer Seema Gujral. She wore a long-sleeved blouse with a western-style veil for the ceremony and changed into a sleeveless blouse for dancing to create two looks with one lehenga.

The unexpected light drizzle during our wedding ceremony called for some creative pivoting on behalf of the incredible planning team and left us with some unforgettable photographs that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Brian and the officiant walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Odesza’s “A Moment Apart”, while Natasha walked to a string quartet’s rendition of “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verve. The ceremony was highlighted by heartfelt speeches from Natasha and Brian’s college roommates as well as a Saptapadi led by Natasha’s aunt.

Some of Sydney’s favorite elements of classic Florida design are the playful colors and patterns—so she knew she wanted to have some fun with the wedding’s vibe, vision, and design. She tapped into the lovely chaos of the tropics, which was grounded by a strong color palette. Their welcome party, however, was a departure from that bold vision; she and Andrew intentionally went in a different design direction with soft blues and whites, paying homage to the hydrangeas that flood the bride’s hometown with summer color in the Hamptons. The decision to have very different design approaches allowed the couple’s guests to have two unique experiences on their brief trip to the island.

Travel has always been central to Andrew and Sydney’s relationship. From spontaneous weekend road trips to carefully planned adventures abroad, discovering new places together has been how they connect and create lasting memories. For their 10th anniversary in 2022, Andrew planned a trip to South Africa and Namibia, two destinations they had never visited. After traveling to the remote Zannier Sonop hotel in Namibia, the couple took the rare opportunity to disconnect from the outside world and focus entirely on being present. On the evening of their anniversary, Andrew arranged a private dinner in the desert. In that quiet and secluded setting, he proposed. The location made the moment both memorable and meaningful, turning a milestone anniversary into the start of a new chapter in their relationship.

Choosing a welcome party dress was one of Sydney’s toughest style decisions. She wanted something sophisticated and timeless, but fun enough for the disco party they had planned for their guests later that evening. She ultimately found the perfect A.L.C. dress at Saks and was drawn to its length and subtle jewel embellishments. Most importantly, it was a dress she felt confident in—and one she knew was perfect for a night of dancing. A longtime vintage lover inspired by the silhouettes of the 1950s and ’60s, Sydney had admired Emilia Wickstead’s designs ever since her best friend wore one for her own wedding. By chance, she secured a last-minute appointment at a New York pop-up, arriving late but determined to try on the Ira gown she had fallen in love with from the lookbook. Despite the rushed fitting, she knew instantly it was the one. The gown’s clean, columnar silhouette and subtle retro detailing struck the perfect balance of past and present, and through a demi-bespoke process, she customized it in a lighter silk mikado for their Florida celebration. From that first appointment to two memorable visits to the London studio, Sydney felt supported by the Wickstead team and confident she had chosen a gown that would remain timeless. “When planning my wedding weekend looks, I was intentional about choosing outfits that would stand the test of time,” she says. “I want to look back in 40 years and still feel proud of the pieces I wore, knowing they reflected my personal style—not just the trends of the moment.”

Rather than assigning specific colors or silhouettes, she encouraged them to choose gowns that reflected their own style, with only one request: have fun with it.

Julia selected a sequin gown from Michelle Farmer in Southampton, its vibrant tones perfectly complementing the tropical florals chosen for the day. Olivia, without any coordination, found a pink Self-Portrait gown adorned with crystal embellishments. Together, the dresses struck a natural balance (individual, but harmonious) and felt like true extensions of their personalities. “I’d love to claim it was all carefully planned, but in truth, it came together naturally and beautifully—just the way I envisioned,” she said.[/field]

The chicken entrée paid homage to their go-to dish at Frenchette in Tribeca, complete with the restaurant’s signature “chicken bread”—a crisp baguette soaked in savory jus and served beneath the chicken. For passed hors d’oeuvres, hush puppies offered a nod to Andrew’s Southern roots. Their request to the chef was simple: serve exceptional food, and plenty of it. The culinary team delivered beyond expectations, crafting a menu that was both creative and meaningful. Guests are still reminiscing about how unforgettable the meal was.

A longtime collector of vintage glassware and colorful linens, she wanted the reception design to feel bold, original, and true to her personal style. Early in the planning process, she discovered British designer Mrs. Alice and was immediately drawn to her use of color, pattern, and playful sophistication. Determined to bring that vision to life, Sydney sourced green ikat tablecloths, Jardin de Palmier plates with a tropical palm motif, rich monogrammed napkins, and whimsical green parrot candleholders—details that set the tone for a “more is more” design philosophy.

To complete the look, the couple partnered with Botanica, who created lush tropical floral arrangements that filled the room with vibrant color and texture. The result was a tablescape that felt both elevated and deeply personal, with each element later becoming part of Andrew and Sydney’s home. What began as inspiration from Mrs. Alice evolved into a design that perfectly reflected their love of layering character, color, and warmth into every detail.[/field]

The wedding cake, crafted by the pastry chef at The Gasparilla Inn, was intentionally kept clean and classic to balance the weekend’s bold, colorful design. A simple white tiered cake adorned with fresh florals struck just the right note of elegance. The couple’s favorite detail was a custom figurine of their dog, Frida, perched on one of the tiers—a playful and personal touch that made the cake uniquely theirs. For flavor, they chose pink champagne, a celebratory nod that felt perfectly fitting for the occasion.

For their ceremony, Sydney chose an excerpt from The Alchemist that felt reflective of their love story. Having met at just 15 and 16 years old, she and Andrew have always believed they were meant to grow up together and intentionally design a life side by side: “When he looked into her eyes, he learned the most important part of the language that all the world spoke — the language that everyone on Earth was capable of understanding in their heart. It was love. Something older than humanity, more ancient than the desert. What the boy felt at that moment was that he was in the presence of the only woman in his life, and that, with no need for words, she recognized the same thing. Because when you know the language, it’s easy to understand that someone in the world awaits you, whether it’s in the middle of the desert or in some great city. And when two such people encounter each other, the past and the future become unimportant. There is only that moment, and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one’s dreams would have no meaning.” Music played an important role throughout the celebration. Sydney walked down the aisle to Canon in D and the couple recessed to a classic wedding march, while nostalgic favorites like Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Somewhere Only We Know set the tone earlier in the day. Andrew and Sydney shared their first dance to John Mayer’s All I Want Is to Be with You, an unexpected choice that felt uniquely theirs. Sydney and her father then danced to Yellow by Coldplay, a band tied to her childhood and their time together. For the mother-son dance, Andrew and his mom chose Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, a poignant tune that carried even more weight as he became the first of four sons to be married.

Though Sydney doesn’t often gravitate towards this length, the dress’ structured silhouette and high neckline felt timeless yet fresh, with a touch of vintage glamour—and by the time the reception rolled around, she was ready to step out of white and into something that felt fully her. It’s no wonder that she has plans to rewear it!

For the rehearsal dinner, the tavern-style room—lined with equestrian artwork—provided the perfect backdrop. Our design paired hunt country heritage with a farm-to-table sensibility. Grasses placed between tables echoed the surrounding hunt landscape, while fresh fruits and vegetables brought a seasonal, organic touch to the table. The Wedding: Glenstone Gardens is a private estate nestled in the heart of Loudoun County, just minutes from the historic village of Middleburg. Renowned for its expansive grounds, elegant architecture, and thoughtfully manicured gardens, Glenstone stands among the nation’s most sought-after wedding destinations. Every detail of the property is impeccably curated, offering a refined and picturesque setting for an immersive wedding weekend in Virginia’s distinguished hunt country.

A Golden, Garden-Lit Fairytale Filled with Soft Blooms at Hummingbird Nest Ranch

We wanted our wedding to feel like a romantic getaway, warm and cozy, filled with love. It was important to us that we had lots of soft and overflowing flowers to create a dreamy, garden-like setting. Twinkle lights glowing all around us throughout the night were also a must-have for us. It was intimate and beautiful, like a fairytale brought to life, where everything felt soft, golden, and full of love.

In April of 2023, we took a trip up to Santa Barbara. Jessica was pretty certain Sam was going to propose on the trip, so the surprise wasn’t exactly surprising. We spent the weekend having a wonderful time, and on the final day, Sam reserved a space at El Encanto hotel, in a grassy courtyard with a pond (a precursor to the outdoor wedding), and popped the question.[/field]

I originally pictured myself in a fitted lace gown with jeweled accents, but when I tried on the wedding gown I ultimately chose, I instantly knew it was the one. It was a flowy and graceful dress made of soft, airy fabrics that moved beautifully with every step. The standout detail was a large bow in the front that looked just like a blooming rose. It felt effortlessly romantic and perfectly matched the dreamy, floral atmosphere of our wedding.

I knew I wanted the bridesmaids’ dresses to be green since that was the main color of our wedding, but it was just as important to me that my bridesmaids felt comfortable and confident. I gave each of them the freedom to choose a style that best suited their personality and body type. The result was a beautiful mix of silhouettes, all in the same shade of green that tied everything together perfectly. They each looked absolutely stunning, and together they brought so much elegance and individuality to the day.

We knew from the start that we didn’t want the typical, forgettable wedding food, so we were incredibly thoughtful in choosing a vendor. We ultimately went with a Mediterranean-inspired menu that still included all the beloved classics. During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed a delicious assortment of meat, fish, and vegetarian bites, catering to everyone. Dinner began with a generous spread of appetizers, including a variety of Mediterranean dips, fresh bread, and an overflowing cheese and charcuterie board. For salads, we served a vibrant arugula salad and a beautifully balanced heirloom carrot and pear salad. For the main course, guests had their choice of filet mignon, sea bass, or ratatouille. The food was truly exceptional, and we still find ourselves thinking about it. As for the drinks, we had to include signature cocktails. The groom chose a classic dirty martini, the bride went with a spicy mango margarita, and the ring-bearer, who was our sweet dog Teddy, even had his own–an espresso martini, of course. It was the perfect personal touch to a night full of amazing flavors and memories.

The florals and decor were truly the heart of our wedding atmosphere. It was romantic, lush, and completely transportive. Flowers were everywhere, creating the feeling of an enchanted garden. Soft, cascading arrangements in shades of blush, ivory, and touches of green adorned every space, from the ceremony arch to the tabletops. We used a mix of roses, ranunculus, and delicate wildflowers to create a look that was both organic and elegant. Twinkling lights were strung above us, casting a warm, golden glow as the sun set. The combination of soft fabrics, overflowing blooms, and ambient lighting made the entire space feel like a dreamy escape. Every detail tied together perfectly, bringing our vision of a cozy, intimate, and deeply romantic night to life.

Since my husband isn’t the biggest cake fan, I had free rein to choose the perfect one. I’ve never been drawn to overly sweet cakes and always envisioned something light, classic, and fruit-forward. I ended up choosing the iconic Triple Berry Cake from Sweet Lady Jane, which includes layers of fluffy yellow cake filled with fresh berries and just the right amount of whipped cream. It was everything I dreamed of in a wedding cake, not too sweet and absolutely delicious.
