We wanted our guests to feel like they were on a vacation and just also happened to be at a wedding. I think the exact words I used with my planner were “relaxed and fun, but elevated and well-designed.” Vibrant color and unique design were our top priorities, but we didn’t want to distract from the main point of the day, which was celebrating our love with our closest friends and family. The venue itself is such an iconic Rosemary staple, and with the rooftop’s beautiful view of the gulf, it didn’t take much to make it a magical place to get married.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]
The best part of our engagement is that it was truly a surprise. Rob and I have always gone to pick out a Christmas tree together, so that didn’t seem out of the norm. But in 2024, we went to a different spot – this cute farm outside of Memphis. Rob had created this whole backstory of doing work for the owner, so I wasn’t suspicious. When we got there and started looking through all the trees, we ended up next to one with a neon sign that said: “Will you marry me?” Then I looked back at Rob, and he was down on one knee. I was speechless,s but I must have managed to say yes… Now we’ve made it a tradition to go back to the same place every year to get our tree!

The team at Maggie Louise went above and beyond to help me achieve my dream look. We started with a strapless Anne Barge design and added a satin sash overlay for the ceremony. I loved it, but after my first appointment, I continued to feel drawn to the idea of sleeves. I went back for a second appointment,t where we decided the best option was to have glove sleeves made from the same fabric as the dress. I wore the sleeves with the sash overlay for the ceremony, then removed both for the reception. I truly loved both looks!

I wanted my bridesmaids to be able to choose their own dresses – something they felt comfortable in and would actually wear again. My only requirements were colors – I asked them to stick with shades of blue, green, or pink, to match the color scheme of the wedding. I envisioned some girls in patterns and some in solids. They all understood the assignment, and it ended up coming together perfectly!

[field title=”Food & Drink”]
The Pearl takes care of all the catering and the bar, which made the whole process very streamlined. At our tasting, it was hard to choose our favorites because all the food was truly incredible. We ended up selecting short rib and shrimp and grits as our main courses, with several passed appetizers like crab cakes and mini chicken and waffles. The stars of the show,w however, were the two chefs walking around live shucking oysters for our guests during cocktail hour. People are still talking about it! Our cocktails paid homage to our dogs, Georgia and Goose. The “Georgia” was a spicy margarita, while there were two options for the “Goose” – either plain Topo Chico (Rob’s drink of choice), or the “Silly Goose” – a Topo Chico-based mixed drink with pomegranate liqueur.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]
A variety of colors and textures were used throughout the entire design. Shades of pink, green, and blue were used to create a vibrant palette that was carried throughout all elements, from the flowers and linens to the custom DJ booth wrap. A mix of both large and small floral arrangements adorned the reception tables, creating dimension, while white linen draping helped create a blank canvas so the flowers could really take center stage. Rattan light fixtures complemented the tropical palette, and votives created a romantic glow once the sun went down. Colorful pedestals with large arrangements framed the ceremony space, which was tucked away from the rest of the rooftop. This space was then converted to hold the cakes, so the stunning design could be enjoyed the whole evening.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]
The wedding cake was made of 3 tiers, each a different flavor – strawberry, white chocolate raspberry, and almond. The design was simple but elegant, with smooth white frosting and a cascade of 3D fondant flowers. Rob’s groom cake, in the shape of a redfish as a nod to his favorite hobby and being at the beach, was lemon with a raspberry filling.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]
The most special part of our ceremony was Rob’s uncle being our officiant. He got ordained just to officiate for us, and he did a wonderful job. He was able to make it so personal, and it is something we will never forget! Music was one of our main priorities – we had always envisioned having a band, but with limited space, we had to go with a DJ. Lucky for us, we got the best DJ in 30A. He knew exactly the right music to play from cocktail hour through the end of the night, and kept everyone dancing the whole time. During cocktail hour, there was also a live saxophonist, which was a fun touch and really set the vibe while guests were mingling and sipping cocktails. Our first dance song was Dancin’ in the Moonlight. It’s such a fun song, especially at the beach, and we both felt like it was easy to dance to without feeling rehearsed.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]On the day of the wedding, Rob’s mom gifted me a handkerchief embroidered in blue with my mom’s handwriting. Rob carried it in his suit pocket during the ceremony. My mom died when I was 11, so that little touch was so thoughtful and made me feel like she was included in our wedding day. I had also been gifted a ribbon from my mom’s wedding dress, embroidered with my parents’ and my initials. This was used to wrap my bouquet. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]
I went to Alabama, and Rob went to Ole Miss. So naturally, college football is a large part of our lives! I had gameday stickers made in two different designs – one for Alabama and one for Ole Miss. We handed these out at the reception towards the end of the night, and they were a hit. I had not planned on making custom hats, but about one month before the wedding, Rob said he thought it’d be really cool to have them. I told him it just wasn’t possible at such short notice, but unbeknownst to him, I was frantically reaching out to custom hat companies! I managed to design and order them just in the nick of time. When our planner brought them out to the dancefloor, Rob was very happily surprised. All our guests love them too, and a lot of our friends are still rocking our Hyde and Co. hats!
