Austin proposed to Michelle on September 18th, 2024. It was the most special, thoughtful day and the perfect beginning to their next chapter. He created a handmade book filled with love letters and photos, each one reflecting a memory from the timeline of their relationship. On the final page, the words “Will you marry me?” were written. Austin got down on one knee in their first shared apartment, holding a beautiful ring he designed just for her.

After a full day of dress shopping, her stylist pulled a surprise “wild card” option that was completely different from the style she originally envisioned. The moment she tried it on, she instantly knew it was the one. The gown’s drop waist and intricate romantic lace created the elegant, timeless look she dreamed of for a wedding in the Tuscan countryside. Helga’s Bridal in Raleigh completed the look with flawless alterations and a custom bustle.[/field]

Attention foodlovers! The wonderful couple Michelle and Austin pampered their nearest and dearest with the most delicious Tuscan food: They started at the cocktail hour with different finger food portions like figs with Gorgonzola, cute Parmesan bowls filled with tomatoes and Mozzarella, filled dates, salmon bites, and a buffet with different Peccorinos, charcuterie of local meat specialities. Accompanied by Prosecco and Aperol Spritz. At the dinner they served a delicious menu: Mezzelune (handmade pasta) stuffed with ricotta and spinach, with melted butter and thyme Handmade Tagliolini with confit cherry tomatoes, burrata, and crystallized basil Prepared on a BBQ close to the dinner area: The Chianina Bistecca alla Fiorentina (T-bone Steak) with porcini mushrooms and truffle plus mixed vegetables au gratin As dolce: Vanilla and fresh raspberry cake with decadent white chocolate ganache and seedless raspberry jam Accompanied by delicious white and red wines from the area. For the after party, the couple decided on a bar with signature cocktails: Classic Margaritas &, Aperol Spritz & Gin Tonic

All of the beautiful painting-like florals were provided by the wonderful La Gardenia and flawlessly encompassed the airy, timeless Fine Art Style of the photographer Stella Mia, the venue Villa Montanare, and their owner, Weddings by Silke. The stunning, fluffy bridal bouquet of the beautiful bride,e Michel, le looked just like a perfect soft pastel painting. Her handsome groom, Austin, was wearing an elegant black tuxedo with a pastel-toned boutonniere and a blush-colored silk ribbon – like the ribbons of Michelle’s bridal bouquet. Their intimate ceremony took place in the open air, in the romantic olive garden in the backyard of the Villa, with an open floral arch installation and floral compositions along the aisle designed to emphasize the amazing, beautiful landscape and panoramic view. At their dreamy dinner reception under an elegant gazebo, the entrance was decorated with arch flowers on both sides. The tablescape was designed with antique blush tablecloths and the lush floral centerpieces and various ivory candles with hurricanes and crystal table lights, which fitted so perfectly withthe golden-edgedd crockery and glasses.

The beautiful white 2 tier cake was styled by Weddings by Silke along the color palette with pastel flowers. The couple decided on a Vanilla and fresh raspberry cake with decadent white chocolate ganache and seedless raspberry jam.

The emotional intimate symbolic ceremony in the olivegarden of Villa Montanare was held by the nice celebrant Francesca. Accompanied by the romantic harpist Irene, wwhoplayed the songs “Can’t help falling in love”, “Pachelbel – Canon In D Major”, and as recessional “Here comes the sun”, it felt like a movie. For the cocktail hour, the couple engaded a amazing guitar & singer, who played Italian American love songs. For the dinner and party, a DJ played the favorite songs of the couple. Their decided as ther first dance “Real Love Baby” by Father John Misty. At night,t they had a fireplace next to the dining area and bar, which made the romantic atmosphere just more cozy.

Wedding day: Every moment of our wedding day felt extraordinary. From the anticipation of meeting in the olive groves for our ceremony to reciting our personal vows in front of our closest loved ones, the entire day was filled with emotion, beauty, and intention. We shared incredible food and wine, laughed with family who had traveled across the world to celebrate with us, and soaked in the magic of the Tuscan countryside. Villa Montanare offered beauty around every corner, making each moment feel tranquil and unforgettable. The intimacy of our celebration allowed us to be fully present with each other and focus the day entirely on our love. Silke of Weddings by Silke and her exceptional vendor team exceeded our expectations in every way, creating a seamless, breathtaking experience from start to finish. It was truly the most special and meaningful day of our lives.

A Coastal Fine Art Wedding Weekend in Pastel Blue with Vibrant Haldi and Blush Sangeet Celebrations

Mitali & Ryan chose a pastel palette for their Wedding celebration, inspired by the coastal charm of South Florida. Baby blue was a highlight throughout the Wedding day palette and was used for thebridesmaids’s dresses and day-of stationery. It was accented by soft blush, yellow, peach, and cream colors. Their Haldi Ceremony took place the day prior, and featured a more vibrant variation of the Wedding palette with an emphasis on tumeric yellow as a nod to Haldi tradition. Their Sangeet followed that evening, and we chose to emphasize the soft blush from their overall palette as the primary color for the Sangeet design.

The overall inspiration for Mitali & Ryan’s Wedding design was coastal fine art, which was inspired by the location and incorporated a soft pastel palette, loose and organic florals, light and airy design, and personal romantic touches woven throughout. Mitali and Ryan’s Wedding Weekend was cross-cultural, with traditions from each of their backgrounds featured throughout the weekend’s events. It was important for Mitali, who was born in India, to include the Haldi & Sangeet traditionsino their Wedding Weekend, so we planned both events to take place the day before their traditional Wedding. We hosted an intimate Haldi Ceremony on Friday morning at a carefully selected Airbnb that could accommodate the event. Their Sangeet followed that evening at The Wonder Gardens and served as a Welcome Party for all of their guests to kick off the weekend’s festivities.

Mitali and Ryan’s Wedding was catered by the venue, The Club at Mediterra, which features world-class cuisine. Their cocktail hour kicked off with Kentucky Mule & Mai Tai Signature Cocktails on the Ballroom’s Terrace. Butler passed hors dd’oeuvresof Cilantro-Lime Chicken Satay, Petite Maryland Crab Cake, Coconut Shrimp, nd Wild Mushroom Tartlets were served to guests, followed by a plated choice of entrée of either Filet Mignon, Salmon, or Stuffed Portobello Mushroom. An assorted dessert display of Cheesecake Bars, Key Lime Pie Bars, Brownies, and Eclairs provided by the Club accompanied their wedding cake,e which was from Publix. Before the night was over, pizza was passed as late-nightht snack for guests to savor after a night of dancing. During Mitali and Ryan’s Sangeet the evening before, they served a traditional Indian buffet catered by The Spice Club Naples. Passed appetizers included Vegetarian Masala, Puffs with Cilantro Chutney, Samosa Chaat, and Chicken Cilantro Skewers paired with an Open Bar provided by The Twisted Trotter. The Buffet featured an assortment of Indian dishes, including: Matar Paneer, Butter Chicken, Gobi Manchurian, Chicken Biryani with Raita, Jeera Pulao, GarlicNaana,n and Peda/Boondi Laddoo.

The floral design was a top priority for Mitali and Ryan, and Signature Florals did an incredible job capturing the vision throughout the weekend’s events! The Wedding Ceremony featured a stunning freestanding floral arch in the wedding palette with white petals sprinkled down the aisle, and oversized arrangements on columns at the top of the aisle to ground the overall design. We carried the floral design into the Reception, with luscious, tall floral centerpieces and low compote floral centerpieces paired with light blue taper candles. Glass was a primary material for the accent decor to provide a light and airy feel throughout the design. We opted for elevated chair rentals for the Ceremony and Reception, which made a huge impact in the overall design, and were provided by Trinity Event Rentals along with glass scalloped chargers and an arched bookcase that staged their custom seating chart. For the Sangeet the evening before, we elected to do a cocktail-style layout with a mix of high-top and low bistro tables paired with honey bentwood chairs that were carefully placed around a honey oak and white dance floor that set the stage for the event to unfold. All rentals, including a lounge set that served as a photo backdrop next to the English conservatory, were provided by Trinity Event Rentals. We wanted to have more fun with the design of the Sangeet, so we decided to incorporate disco balls from Kelsi Elizabeth Events’ inventory throughout the design.

Mitali and Ryan both enjoy Publix cake and decided to stick with a classic 3-tier wedding cake for their celebration. They chose a classic beaded edge design that was accented by light blue taper candles and florals on each tier in the wedding palette.

The invitation suite was carefully selected from different designs to tie together all of the design elements of the weekend, and even included a sage green English conservatory for the Sangeet invitation that was a nod to the venue. The suite was tied together with a soft blue silk ribbon that matched the choice of the bridesmaids’ dresses.

Mitali and Ryan’s Sangeet took place the evening before their Wedding, and doubled as a Welcome Party at The Wonder Gardens. Guests entered the park and enjoyed a preview of all of the park’s beautiful wildlife on the way to the Sangeet, which was held on the Peacock Lawn. Set amongst the trees and wildlife, the location featured a stunning sage green English conservatory that served as a beautiful backdrop for the event amongst the natural beauty of the park itself. A henna artist was on-site to provide traditional Indian henna to guests during the event. Guests danced the night away, and were surprised by choreographed dance performances by both the Bride and her Bridesmaids and the Groom and his Groomsmen. It was definitely a highlight of the whole weekend!

Mitali and Ryan met in a library exactly ten years before their Wedding date while they were in college, which was the inspiration behind the design for their custom seating chart which featured an arched bookcase rented from Trinity Event Rentals with custom covered books in the wedding palette that Kelsi Elizabeth Events sourced and displayed for each guest which indicated their table assignment and doubled as a guest favor. It was a huge hit and elevated the guest experience!

A Romantic European-Inspired Vineyard Wedding with Billowing Drapery and Mediterranean Flair

Koplow’s now envisioned a romantic European-inspired celebration set against the dreamy backdrop of Virginia’s rolling vineyards, blending Old World elegance with modern sophistication. Very Bespoke Events brought this vision to life with a stunning, large-scale draped ceremony arch where the couple exchanged vows as delicate fabric billowed gracefully in the breeze, creating an ethereal moment against the vineyard landscape. The ceremony design featured elegant anthem seating surrounding a vinyl aisle and stage, while the couple walked down the aisle to the enchanting sounds of a harpist and cello duo by Megan the Harpist and her husband. The poolside cocktail hour transported guests to the Mediterranean with a violinist playing beloved early 2000s hits from Summit Events, while servers passed champagne, lollipop lamb chops, grilled garlic shrimp, and bacon-wrapped dates. The celebration showcased a beautiful curved bar by Pretty Little Weddings Co. that became a focal point of the elegant outdoor reception, seamlessly blending the European aesthetic with the natural beauty of the Virginia countryside.

Once upon a time, two young souls, Jacob and Shá, found themselves woven into each other’s lives by a mutual friend when they were just 16 and 17, sparking an instant connection filled with laughter and playful flirtations. Life led them both into their early 20s as singles, and Jacob knew this was his moment—their next date became a turning point when he cooked his best dish, welcomed her into his world, and offered his truest self, capturing not just her heart but her soul. Within two years, they moved in together, creating a cozy home with their fur babies, Riley, Nala, and Thor, and though Jacob proposed for the first time during this period, they knew the timing wasn’t quite right. This breathtaking gown featured a floral Jacquard Basque waist ballgown silhouette with delicate pearl off-the-shoulder straps that added a touch of vintage glamour, complete with Pnina’s signature bow detail that made it unmistakably couture. The dress moved beautifully as she walked down the aisle, creating those dreamy, flowing moments that every bride hopes for on her wedding day.

Guests enjoyed an elevated plated dinner with three expertly prepared entrée options: medium-rare filet mignon with blue cheese compound butter, creamy pan-seared Tuscan chicken, and Pescado Dorado (thin pan-fried breaded fish with lemon garlic sauce), all served with garlic asparagus and creamy risotto alongside tableside wine service. The couple thought of every detail, including a late-night street taco station that kept the energy high after hours of dancing, ensuring no guest went hungry throughout the entire celebration.[/field]

Very Bespoke Events masterfully designed and oversaw all decor alongside the amazing Day of Coordinator Stacy Brown of Style Luxe Weddings, curating rentals from Pretty Little Wedding Co., Sammy’s Rental, Nadine Deleon, and their own collection to create the European vineyard aesthetic the couple dreamed of. The floral design featured lush arrangements of antique green and white hydrangeas with sophisticated pops of green anthurium, ranunculus, garden roses, and timeless calla lilies that brought organic elegance to every space from the ceremony arch to the reception tables. VBE’s team even designed and draped a gorgeous backdrop for the couple’s espresso martini tower display, complete with beautiful vintage coupes and luxe fabric draping that created an Instagram-worthy moment while maintaining the overall refined aesthetic of the day.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The couple worked with Chary’s Bakery to create a stunning three-tiered custom vintage-style cake that was even more delicious than its gorgeous appearance suggested. The main cake flavor was an unexpected and sophisticated blackberry sage, but the couple also included tiers of honey lavender and dulce de leche tres leches, with the latter becoming the biggest hit of the night among guests. Each tier offered a unique flavor experience that reflected the couple’s adventurous palates and desire to surprise and delight their loved ones.[/field]

The couple chose a cherished family friend to read the iconic 1 Corinthians 13 passage “love is patient, love is kind” as the groom cried tears of joy seeing his bride, removing his sunglasses to take in the full moment. The bride walked halfway down the aisle with her mother—a beautiful tribute to her mom raising her the majority of her life alone following her father’s early passing—then completed her journey with her stepfather, all accompanied by the soft, romantic sounds of harp and cello. The reception came alive with the smooth sounds of saxophonist Brach Cobb and DJ Ben from Summit Events, who kept the dance floor packed all night long.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]In perhaps the most unique moment of the day, after exchanging their vows, the couple went back inside the estate to get matching tattoos by their artist friend Valeria of Fearless Ink Beauty—the groom receiving an “L” on his left ring finger and the bride a “J” on hers. This intimate, meaningful moment was beautifully captured by photographer Sadie Lynn Films and content creation team Honey Do Socials while guests enjoyed cocktail hour treats and champagne, completely unaware of the permanent commitment being made inside. The surprise reveal later in the evening delighted guests and showcased the couple’s deep commitment and unique approach to tradition.[/field]

The couple curated an incredible lineup of entertainment beyond the live musicians, including the engaging Emcee Steve of Premiere Emcee, who directed guests around the estate while keeping the energy fun and celebratory throughout the evening. In one of the most touching moments, Steve announced that the couple would share an intimate dance in the traditional barn-turned-upscale venue while the groom’s father serenaded them, singing “What You Won’t Do for Love” with his band Intonation—a surprise that had everyone in tears. After this special moment, the couple was driven away in a golf cart to change into cocktail attire, with the bride emerging in a glamorous fur-lined robe over a silk cowl-neck dress with a dramatic low back and “something blue” shoes, making a show-stopping entrance to pour espresso martinis as cold sparks went off around them while live painter Pappion Artistry captured the scene poolside and guests created keepsakes at a Polaroid station with draped backdrop by Sadie Lynn Films’ team.

The couple wanted to end the night with a meaningful tribute to their love story, recreating the lantern festival where they reunited years ago by inviting guests to write well wishes on lanterns and float them across the pool at night with candles flickering inside. This magical moment, set against the vineyard backdrop with the soft glow of floating lanterns reflecting on the water, created an unforgettable send-off just before their sparkler exit. In true Koplow fashion, the couple surprised everyone with a spontaneous pool jump while fully dressed, ending the night with a romantic couple-only photoshoot, splashing and laughing in the water—a perfect encapsulation of their joyful, adventurous love story.

A Northern Lights-Inspired Wedding in Muted Sage with Organic Ikebana Florals

Amanda and Ben’s wedding was a celebration of love thoughtfully designed to feel both elevated and deeply personal. Inspired by the aurora borealis—the same natural wonder under which Ben proposed in Iceland—the palette and design blended muted sage green, warm ivory, natural greens, layered neutrals, airy ikebana-style florals, and a warm honey-toned glow, resulting in a look that felt elevated, organic, and deeply connected to the couple’s story. From the Bride: “Before the planning began, I envisioned a day that felt deeply personal, emotional, and unforgettable—not just for us, but for everyone who attended. I didn’t want it to feel overly traditional or overly trendy—I wanted it to feel like us. I imagined something timeless but unique, elegant but warm, full of intentional details that told our story. I knew I wanted to honor our families, create beautiful memories with our closest friends, and make sure the love and joy we felt that day radiated throughout the celebration. Most of all, I wanted our guests to walk away feeling like they had witnessed something truly meaningful—and that they had fun!” Every detail reflected that vision. From a custom seating chart installation featuring wedding photos of each couple attending to cohesive signage throughout the venue, the design carried a sense of intentionality from arrival to the reception. From the Bride: “We hired our planner, Jordan, just 2.5 months before the wedding, and with her help, we pulled everything together beautifully. Looking back, it turned out even more beautiful and special than I had ever imagined.”

For the reception tables, we embraced an ikebana-inspired floral approach to achieve something artful, airy, and intentionally placed. This style was especially fitting for the Oxford Exchange’s sleek, elongated tables. Ikebana allowed the florals to feel sculptural and expressive without overwhelming the tablescape, complementing the venue’s minimalist elegance. A blend of pearlized sand cylinder candles, staggered down the tables, along with mauve taper candles in ribbed hurricanes, created a beautifully diffused light throughout the space. The candlelight cast a subtle honeyed glow across the tablescape, enriching the palette with warmth and dimension. From the Bride: “I wanted florals that felt lush, organic, and romantic, with lots of candlelight to add warmth and glow. Blossom Cart, along with my wedding planner, brought that vision to life so beautifully—I teared up when I saw the final setup. It was breathtaking and completely captured the mood I dreamed of.”

The photos were printed and framed to blend into the gallery wall seamlessly. If you knew, you knew—and if not, they still hung beautifully among the other art.”

How to Ditch the Nerves and Get the Best Engagement Photos Ever

For many of us, our engagement photos are the very first time we’ve ever “modeled” for a camera. And it’s terrifying. So what’s a girl (or boy) to do? Well, we’ve enlisted the help of Lance Nicoll – photographer behind some of those beloved e-sessions that make their way around pinterest and instagram and the eye behind some of SMP’s most popular weddings. And being the great guy that he is, Lance is breaking it all down for us so that despite our nerves…killer engagement photos are just a click away.

Make it an Adventure

Choosing your location for your engagement or couple’s session is one of the key components to any great shoot. Sometimes, we have amazing scenic settings right in our backyard, but if not, don’t be hesitant to turn your engagement session into an adventure. Hopping in the car and road tripping it to neighboring towns, places and spaces is a sure way to ensure that your backdrop is inspiring to you. If it’s inspiring, it will set the foundation for incredibly photography. Or if you are really up for something special, making a mini-vacation around your engagement session can also be a great idea as well. Be adventurous and make your session location a lifetime memory in itself.

Take the Time to Plan Your Attire

Give special consideration to your wardrobe for the day. Possibly asking your photographer for their insight can be a great way to start. I always tell my couple’s that dressing up looks fantastic but it is important to feel like yourself as well. For ladies soft, flowy solids are always beautiful. Brilliant colors like reds and blue can also be stunning. I personally recommend staying away from complex patterns as they can take away from you and your surroundings. For my guys, I say dress accordingly to your fiancé. Casual pants and a sport coat can be a nice first look or a nice button down without the jacket can be great, then for your second look just step it up a bit – a nice tailored suit without the tie can be a perfect option. When you feel good in what you are wearing, a natural confidence or softness comes thru and the imagery is that much more lovely.

Lose yourself … In Each Other

It sounds counter-intuitive, but I tell my couple’s “it’s just you two here, no one else. This is the person you love more than anyone else in the world, forget I am here and just be in love.” I love to give easy simple directions and allow my couples to get swept away in how they feel for each other. Usually after the first few minutes I can sense our couple’s getting comfortable and just being in the moment. This is another reason why location can be so important, private spaces can lend to more intimate beautiful imagery.

That said, even to the most in love pair, putting aside nerves can be a challenge. And yet the solution is often really simple. Talk to each other. Tell each other about your day or recount a funny/charming/romantic moment that you had together. Start with a joke. That is usually all it takes to crack the tension and give you the space to relax and just let the day unfold.

Take Your Time

Creating authentic and engaging images with your photographer means not feeling rushed. Take your time. Having more than one location and planning smartly with your photographer is key. Having a sunrise location and a sunset location can be a great way of ensuring plenty of time for amazing images. Take your time, I’d rather my couples have 100 lifelong memories rather than 1000 rushed images. As a photographer who shoots with film, we are innately trained to slow down, to talk to our couple’s, shoot a few frames, and then step back and assess how we can capture our couple exactly as they are.

For photographer’s out there, talk to your couple during the shoot, ask them questions – simple ones and more storied ones – and sometimes just step back and watch them, don’t shoot. Familiarize with how they interact naturally. And let that be your guide.

Follow the Light.

It may be a tip that you’ve heard before…but only because it’s so important. Plan around ideal lighting. This may mean getting up very early for that beautiful morning light and being ready in the evening for that golden hour before sunset. Shooting with soft golden light brings an un-paralleled beauty and warmth to your collection.

Also, be prepared to be flexible. If traveling in for a session I always like to have a back-up time slot, so for instance if we get rained out or weather isn’t cooperating we can shoot the next morning.

On July 8, 2023, what began as a normal Saturday morning for Rachel was anything but for Dale. The evening before, they had gone to a Matchbox Twenty concert with close friends, and the next day, Rachel believed they were headed to an 11:00 am brunch at The Breakers with business colleagues. When Dale casually suggested a walk on the beach before their reservation, Rachel found it slightly odd (since Dale never wants to walk on the beach), but she agreed. As they reached the shoreline, a man dressed head-to-toe in black caught Rachel’s attention, but Dale gently guided her further down the beach. A few steps later, he stopped, took her hands, and began to tell her how deeply he loved her and how much he looked forward to their future and building a family together. Rachel did not yet realize the mysterious man was actually the photographer Dale had hired, quietly capturing every moment. Dale made it through half his prepared speech before simply asking the question. Rachel said yes. The moment continued with photos along the water before Rachel remembered they were late for brunch. Dale smiled and admitted there was no brunch, only time for the two of them. Afterward, they returned home, where friends and family were secretly gathered for a surprise celebration. When Rachel opened the door to cheers and congratulations, it became the perfect ending to a perfect proposal day.

One of my favorite parts of the wedding experience was choosing gowns that reflected each moment of the celebration, and I loved being able to express a slightly different side of myself through each look. For the ceremony, I wore a Netta Benshabu gown. It was truly romantic, ethereal, and intricately detailed in a way that felt perfectly suited to the grandeur of Luttrellstown Castle. It was elegant without being heavy, and the movement of the fabric as I walked through the castle halls felt like something out of a storybook. Later that evening, for the reception, I changed into a gown by Aston Bridal, which was sleek, modern, and designed for dancing. It allowed me to move freely, greet guests, and fully immerse myself in the celebration while still feeling beautifully elevated and bridal. The change in silhouette felt like a natural progression from ceremony to celebration, marking the transition into the most joyful, high-energy part of the night. The day before the wedding, at our welcome party, I wore a gown by Milla. It was playful, fresh, and perfect for the more relaxed tone of the evening. It set the stage for the days to come and made the welcome event feel like the beginning of a larger story rather than simply a pre-wedding gathering.

Rather than choosing a single uniform color, we wanted our bridesmaids to each look and feel uniquely themselves, so we selected a palette of soft, romantic tones that flowed together beautifully. Each gown had its own silhouette and personality, allowing every bridesmaid to shine individually, while still feeling cohesive as a group. The varied palette brought a sense of freshness and modernity to the wedding, and the contrast against the greenery and stone of Luttrellstown Castle made the entire scene feel like a living piece of artwork.

At Luttrellstown Castle Resort, culinary excellence is a defining signature. The menu delights with a refined blend of Irish tradition and international flair. Dale and Rachel chose a dinner menu that hinged on the food that Ireland is best known for – Irish Beef and freshly caught Seabass. For their signature cocktail,s the couple treated guests to a Dirty Martini, a traditional dirty martini with both options for green olives as well as blue cheese olives, and a French Blonde.

The goal was a garden-like atmosphere with colour and texture everywhere. We envisioned a wedding aisle that felt like a garden path, a staircase that looked as if it had grown wild overnight (but still colourful), and a reception ballroom becoming a setting that felt full and alive, not just arranged for show. We used a heavy amount of hydrangeas, roses, peonies, and cascading greenery to accomplish our dream look. Accenting the florals, the candlelight, and the chandeliers made everything glow, and it truly felt like the whole venue was blooming around us and, most importantly, like home. The result was exactly what we imagined — elegant, abundant, and deeply romantic.

Unbeknownst to her, he had been traveling with an engagement ring tucked away for the entirety of his trip. He planned a celebratory dinner on the bay under the pretense of her birthday weekend, and afterward led her to the enchanting grounds of Balboa Park. There, surrounded by its historic architecture and lush pathways, Jacob got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.[/field]

Black House Blooms brought the vision to life with lush, garden-style arrangements, selecting blooms that felt both intentional and effortlessly beautiful – each stem contributing to the overall sense of refined romance. To elevate the aesthetic, specialty linens from Nauge and Top Tier Event Rentals paired seamlessly with upgraded chairs, creating a cohesive garden-inspired atmosphere. The tablescapes were a true highlight, featuring stacked chargers and plates that added depth and dimension, while upgraded glassware introduced an elegant, upscale finish. The paper goods were equally memorable, with menus and stationery designed by Moon Mippy, tying together the soft, elevated palette. The reception space was further transformed by a custom monogrammed dance floor and a stage façade wrapped in the same pattern as the couple’s envelope liner, expertly executed by Imperial Floors. The result was a serene, luxurious environment – quiet luxury woven with personal details – that felt both elevated and wonderfully at home.

A tented wedding wasn’t part of the original plan for Katie and Jacob, but when rain loomed in the forecast, the celebration needed a swift and thoughtful pivot. With any fully outdoor wedding, having a solid Plan B is essential – and this day proved exactly why. Skilled planner Dana Jensen had put the new layout and timeline into play, transforming the space to suit what became a very rainy day and an exceptionally tight two-hour setup window. With teamwork, precision, and creative problem-solving, the result was a beautifully executed tented celebration that kept every detail intact and every guest comfortable- rain or shine.

When Domenic first asked me to be his girlfriend, he gave me a heart-shaped rose quartz he had brought home from a trip to Arizona the year before. Fast forward six years, and we finally had the chance to travel to Arizona together. Domenic planned a surprise off-roading trip through the Sedona mountains, and at the peak, with the sun setting over the red rock,s he proposed. As an agricultural region rich with local produce, herbs, and olive oil, the catering embraced a truly farm-to-table approach, showcasing the flavors that make Cretan cuisine so celebrated. Guests were welcomed with chilled water bottles wrapped in personalized labels, a thoughtful touch against the warm summer heat, before enjoying an elegant selection of canapés, including crisp leek pies in delicate phyllo, savory chicken skewers, rs and refreshing watermelon–feta bites that honored the island’s seasonal ingredients. Dinner unfolded as a refined expression of Cretan gastronomy: octopus carpaccio, stuffed zucchini flowers, rustic breads enriched with olives and cheese, vibrant salads, and a beautifully composed duo of mains — lamb ossobuco over truffle risotto and lemon-roasted chicken served with seasonal vegetables. At the bar, the couple’s custom “His & Hers” cocktails — a bright Mojito and a Spicy Margarita — were served alongside Ginger Passion, Aperol Spritz, local wines from Manousakis Winery, and Greek draft beer. Later in the evening, an espresso cart and artisanal ice cart appeared as a playful, luxurious finale, giving guests a refreshing close to a culinary experience deeply rooted in Crete’s land and culture.

A White and Green Vow Renewal Among Olive Groves and Cypress Hills

From the planner: An intimate vow renewal surrounded by rolling hills and tall cypress trees. Guests are seated on simple wooden and iron chairs, arranged along a stone path leading to a natural ceremony space framed by lush white and green floral arrangements. The setting feels peaceful and romantic, with soft blooms blending beautifully into the rustic, timeless landscape. Guests mingle by the sparkling water, surrounded by views of rolling vineyards and olive groves, with the golden light of the setting sun casting a warm glow. Rustic wooden tables are topped with trays of local cheeses, cured meats, bruschetta, and olives, alongside chilled prosecco, Aperol spritzes, and crisp white wines — the perfect start to an evening of celebration. Long tables are set under the open sky or beneath strands of soft, glowing string lights, surrounded by stone walls, olive trees, and the golden hues of the landscape. Tables are dressed with simple, elegant linens, fresh greenery, and clusters of white and green flowers, letting the natural beauty of the setting shine. As dinner winds down, the celebration moves inside to the Bella Vista Room, where a DJ sets the tone for an unforgettable after-party filled with dancing, late-night drinks, and joyful energy that carries into the early hours.

Craig and I got engaged on Christmas Day in 2015—just weeks after I’d moved from South Africa to join him in a small town in Canada. We spent that Christmas in Banff, and honestly? New everything. So when it came to planning a wedding, we made the practical choice: a small, intimate ceremony. We told ourselves we’d have the “big celebration” later—maybe in a year or two, once we’d settled in. But life happened. One year became five. Five became eight. My gown is the Iris Gown by Newhite from Blush and Raven. The moment I put it on, I knew. It felt like me—elevated but not fussy, romantic but not overdone, timeless but still fresh. The pleated tulle A-line skirt gave me that dreamy, ethereal look for the ceremony, but I loved that I could remove it (we separated it in the alterations) for the reception to reveal a more fitted silhouette for dancing. Two looks, one dress—it was perfect. But what made it truly special was using matching fabric from my skirt overlay to create my daughter’s custom flower girl dress. We kept it a secret from Craig—he hadn’t seen her dress before the wedding day either, so he had a ‘first look’ with her too when she walked down the aisle. Of course, he was in tears!

How Andres and Elina met: Andres and Elina met the summer before freshman year at Northwestern, connected by a mutual friend who knew they were both heading to Evanston that fall. What started as easy hangouts and long phone calls quickly turned into the kind of friendship that defined their entire college experience; for four years, they were inseparable best friends, sharing every triumph, heartbreak, and late-night study sessions. It wasn’t until after graduation, when Andres stayed for his master’s and Elina remained nearby to prepare for medical-school applications, that the spark finally ignited; the people who had shared every secret and inside joke for years suddenly realized they were in love. Four years of dating (and nine years of friendship) later, Andres proposed on a candlelit, rose-covered rooftop in Manhattan. Shortly before we left, he told me we were heading to a friend’s birthday, and I didn’t suspect a thing…at first. I started to catch on when I saw that all my friends’ locations were showing up in the same spot…. He still managed to surprise me by proposing in a private moment overlooking Birmingham before we were joined by all our friends and family to celebrate.

When it came to my wedding gown, I actually went wedding dress shopping in South Dakota—and as an Alabama girl, I had no idea whereeven to start! Luckily, I found a little boutique and fell in love with a strapless A-line gown from Colby John. It had a layered, pleated bodice and a sweetheart neckline that felt both modern and timeless. After trying it on a few times, I knew I wanted something more for the dress. I ended up adding a Monique Lace Bolero with a Martina Liana VV-neckl which made the dress feel perfect to me.

When it came to choosing our food and drink options, Pursell Farms made it incredibly easy—they truly know how to curate the perfect plate. We went for a tasting with our amazing planner, Becky’s Brides, and I already knew I didn’t want a full formal sit-down dinner. In my mind, that would take away from valuable party time!!… But I also didn’t want a buffet. We landed on passed canapés paired with serving stations, which ended up being the perfect balance. And because food is absolutely my love language, we made sure there were plenty of options. Our passed canapés included vegetable spring rolls, pimento cheese with bacon jam on toasted baguette, and a fresh tomato bruschetta. For the stations, we chose dishes that fit the Southern vibe we were aiming to achieve. We had a shrimp-and-grits station with Conecuh sausage and a crisp iceberg salad. There was a carving station with beef tenderloin, rosemary potatoes, and roasted carrots finished with pomegranate molasses and pistachios. We also offered chicken with Alabama white sauce, paired with macaroni and cheese and haricots verts. For drinks, we knew we wanted to feature our two dogs. We served a classic margarita named after Kota and an old-fashioned named after Bear, which was such a sweet personal touch. Now for my favorite part… instead of a fourth station, we opted for multiple rounds of late-night passes. Guests were surprised with chocolate-chip cookie ice cream sandwiches, espresso martinis, churros with customizable toppings, and—last but definitely not least—a honey-butter chicken biscuit. These were all crowd favorites!

My two biggest wishes for our wedding, besides marrying my wonderful groom, were incredible florals and incredible food. Wildly Rooted Florals absolutely exceeded every expectation. I still get comments about how there wasn’t a single inch untouched by their arrangements. From the hanging tulip wall to the flower-lined aisle, to the intricately filled arbor, and even the blooms spilling over from the piano, every space was thoughtfully designed and bursting with bright pops of color. It was truly a floral dream. In every other aspect of the decor, Becky’s Brides curated each space beautifully. From placing the cake as a stunning focal point in the center of the room to the gorgeous wrap on the dance floor, every detail was intentionally crafted to keep the atmosphere fun, inviting, and full of personality.

From the very beginning, our biggest desire was for our ceremony to be glorifying to God. As we planned, one of our first decisions was to ask Chandler’s father to officiate. It felt meaningful to invite someone who knew us so well, and he guided the service with such grace, keeping Christ at the center. I also felt strongly about incorporating worship into the moment I walked down the aisle. I wanted that entrance to reflect gratitude not just for the day itself but for the faithfulness that brought us there. As the doors opened, our pianist and violinist began playing “Gratitude” by Brandon Lake, and I stepped out of the doors. The most special moment was the first time seeing each other, as we decided not to do a first look.

I really wanted to come up with a wedding favor that felt unique and meaningful, something that truly honored the gift of marriage. Every idea I considered felt a little too ordinary, and I kept coming back to the desire to highlight the love stories that had shaped ours. That’s when I put a few ideas I had seen together to come up with the idea of collecting wedding pictures from all our friends and family to showcase each married couple attending our wedding, with a sign that read “the love that came before us.” It felt like the perfect way to honor those who had already walked in the covenant of marriage. When I shared the idea with Becky’s Brides, they took it to a completely new level. They created a stunning, curated wall filled with beautifully arranged frames of each couple, all anchored by a sign at the top reading “celebrating the love that came before us.” Pops of flowers at the base added the dreamiest finishing touch. It was even more special than I ever imagined.

Our photographer, Gabbie Messer, was absolutely outstanding. Just after the ceremony, storm clouds rolled in, but she handled it with grace and poise, ensuring every important moment was captured without letting us get drenched. Baby Blue Hydrangeas and Lighthouse Views at a Dreamy Coastal Celebration

The vibe we envisioned was coastal elegance. Hydrangeas, rattan textures, and a personalized crest were woven throughout the entire celebration. I’ve always loved that classic Northeast coastal aesthetic with soft blues, crisp whites, and hydrangeas everywhere, so the second we got engaged, I knew this was going to be a baby-blue wedding. Having the Jupiter Lighthouse as the backdrop made it all feel even more surreal. Lighthouses are one of my top five happiness-list items, so getting married with one as the backdrop was truly a dream come true.

It was a Saturday in Manhattan when Jeffrey made plans for us to meet one of our mutual best friends at a speakeasy in SoHo for a double date with a new girl he’d been seeing. Turns out, that was all a lie just to get me to this beautiful rooftop with the Manhattan skyline as our backdrop, which was intentionally decided on as the World Trade Center was the focal point. We live in downtown Manhattan and use the World Trade Center as our ‘north star’ whenever out & about, looking which way is home, so it was only right to have that behind us for this special moment. The surprises didn’t stop there, though. Jeffrey then had all our friends & family (yes, even those from out of town) come out to Long Island for a surprise party at my sister’s house. It was truly so special to have all of our people with us celebrating the start of our forever together just hours after saying ‘I do’!

After seeing The Pelican Club, I knew I wanted my wedding dress to feel clean, simple, and timeless. I tried on so many gowns at Bridal Reflections in New York, but the very last one of the day, an Enzoani design, was the one that matched my vision perfectly. It originally didn’t include the sheer modesty panel in the front, but I added it since we were getting married in a church, and I’m so glad I did. To complete the look, I kept my jewelry elegant and understated. Jeffrey gifted me a diamond tennis bracelet as a wedding present, and my parents had given me beautiful diamond earrings for my birthday just ten days before. My something borrowed was a stunning tennis necklace from my aunt Babs, which I’ll forever be grateful for. I wore classic blue Manolo Blahniks as my something blue, and they matched my bridesmaids’ dresses perfectly!

My biggest priority for the bridesmaid dresses was making sure every girl felt pretty and comfortable. We found their dresses at Bella Bridesmaids in Manhattan, and they were absolutely incredible to work with. Each bridesmaid scheduled her own appointment and tried on different styles in the same Lula Kate fabric and color, which made the mix-and-match look come together beautifully. I loved how stunning the girls looked in their coordinated styles. My sisters—my Maids of Honor—wore Jenny Yoo dresses in a blue floral pattern, which added the perfect accent to the rest of the girls’ look!

My wedding planner, Emilie with Emi Events, absolutely nailed the execution of our coastal-elegance design, thoughtfully weaving together so many meaningful details. Southern Floral brought my vision to life with hydrangea and rattan-forward tablescapes that felt both organic and elevated. We rented our linens and tabletop pieces from Unearthed Rentals, and I was obsessed with the added texture and dimension the tablecloths brought to every table. I hadn’t seen this particular linen used often, but Emilie managed to source it for our wedding, and it ended up being one of my favorite details. Little Postage House created personalized menus for each guest, featuring the crest from our invitation suite at every seat. That crest carried throughout the wedding, from embossed napkins, custom matchboxes,s to golf balls to custom bar details—tying everything together as a beautiful and cohesive focal point of the night.

Jeffrey and I LOVE all things vanilla. We did a multi-tiered cake with vanilla on vanilla from Sweet Tiers, but added a chocolate layer for our guests, as we are aware we are in a minority here! We rented our cake stand from Southern Floral to stay in the rattan/wicker theme,e and it was the perfect finishing touch.

This felt meaningful and true to who we are. For the reception, Rock With U was absolutely incredible. We shared our first dance to “Conversations in the Dark” by John Legend, and the live electronic violinist completely took everyone’s breath away with her performance. We didn’t take dance lessons; we just wanted to be present in the moment, and we’re so glad we did. Otherwise, we probably would’ve spent the whole time worrying about choreography instead of enjoying it.

The RWU fusion was exactly what our guests needed, blending so many genres seamlessly. We went from Pitbull—my dad’s favorite—to Creed, which somehow ended with my husband and me crowd surfing. The night wrapped up with Frank Sinatra’s classic “New York, New York,” the perfect tribute to home since we hosted a destination wedding in Jupiter, Florida.[/field]

Olive Green and Pearls at a Magical Graydon Hall Manor Celebration

The proposal was nothing short of a dream! Jake began planning nearly a year, working with our incredible ring designer, Stor by Margot, to create the perfect piece. He was determined that everything be thoughtful, intentional, and full of heart. In the months leading up to it, Jake planned spontaneous date nights, little surprises, and decoy plans into our calendar to keep me guessing. He even enlisted friends to take me out for random lunches, so I wouldn’t suspect anything when the day finally came. It was a rainy day when my friend Meghan took the train into the city to meet me for brunch. She insisted it was a chill day and told me not to stress about doing my hair. After brunch, I dropped her off at the train station and headed home—only to receive an Uber gift card notification on my phone as I walked in the door. On the kitchen table was a single envelope. The card inside read: “Today is about us. About love. There are three rules. 1. You don’t have to worry about a thing. 2. You don’t have to get ready. 3. Say your name is Whitney—and let the rest unfold.” The first stop was a manicure at my favorite salon, where my dear friend Maris greeted me. I still wasn’t entirely suspicious—Jake had been talking about getting pedicures together for weeks. Maris pretended I had booked the appointment myself and played it cool the entire time. But when the appointment ended, she smiled, told me it was all taken care of, and handed me the next card. It said, “I love you very much.” And I was off to my favorite coffee shop. When I arrived and told the barista my name, the whole café lit up— the baristas clapped and cheered, “Whitney’s here!” They handed me a warm drink and my next card. The barista told me Jake had been calling them for weeks to make sure they had every detail perfect. With my matcha in hand and my heart racing, I opened the next envelope. It spoke about all the laughter we’ve shared together and led me to one of our favorite date night spots: Comedy Bar. When I arrived, it looked completely closed. But the card told me to knock. A woman opened the door with a huge smile and said, “You must be Whitney.” She handed me another card. By now, I was still in cozy brunch clothes, makeup-free, hair undone—but Jake had planned for that too. The next card led me to a salon on the Danforth, where I was treated to a hair wash, blowout, and a full makeup session. The stylists were buzzing with excitement, asking to peek at the next card before I left. Next up was a trip down memory lane: Jake’s old apartment, the first place we ever lived together. Tucked inside the mailbox on Palmerston was another note, this one telling me to head to my final stop: The Park Hyatt downtown. By the time I got into the Uber, I was nervous, giddy, teary, and—as always—slightly carsick. My phone rang. It was Jake. He simply asked how I was feeling. I asked him the same. He said, “I can’t wait to see you. I love you.” At the Park Hyatt, I gave my name at the front desk and was handed a room key. Inside the room, three carefully chosen outfits were hung up and freshly steamed, Shoe options, fresh tulips,s and fresh strawberries. I chose an outfit, got dressed with shaky hands, and made my way to the private terrace room. As I walked down the hallway, I heard music: a live cello and violin playing “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” A man in a blue suit opened the door. And there he was—Jake. Standing at the end of an isle of flowers and tall grasses. He was all I could see. I walked toward him (probably too quickly), heart racing. When we reached each other, we held hands and hugged, breathing in the moment. Then, Jake looked at me with tear-filled eyes and said, “ From the moment I met you, I was hooked. You have opened my eyes and heart to a life I never imagined I could have, and a person I never imagined I could be. Your love and joy inspire me to be a better person and a loving partner every day. You are the one I want by myself, and I want to be by your side for the rest of my life. I love you so much, and with all my heart ask, will you marry me?” I could barely see through the tears. Jake knelt and pulled out a navy blue box. I was still staring at his face, nodding yes before I even looked at the ring. He almost stood up, and I laughed through my tears and said, “I think you’re supposed to put the ring on my finger.” He slid the ring onto my left hand—three sparkling diamonds on a delicate gold band. It fit perfectly. We stayed there, arms wrapped around each other, soaking in the moment.

I know the staff so well and spend many summer weekends there photographing weddings, so it already feels like a place filled with joyful memories. Beyond the personal connection, Graydon Hall is the epitome of timeless beauty — its architecture, gardens, and intimate charm create the perfect backdrop for a celebration. Hosting our engagement party there felt not only meaningful, but also like a preview of the classic, romantic style we love so much.

Rainbow Chan helped bring our vision to life with a neutral palette accented by olive greens — our favourite colour — and warm tones that complemented the beautiful fall weather. We chose a classic floral pattern paired with soft green linens to keep everything feeling both fresh and timeless. I wanted the evening to feel a little magical… a moment where we could get dressed up, be surrounded by people we love, and soak in all the joy and warmth of this new chapter. Rainbow understood that perfectly, and together we created a setting that felt effortless and elegant.

My dress was custom-made by the one and only Catherine Langlois, and the entire experience with her was such a dream. She guided me through every detail, helped me feel confident in each design choice, and created something that felt perfectly “me.” I’ve always loved the timeless elegance of pearls, but I also wanted to bring in a playful, fashion-forward touch — a balance of classic and fun. To complete the look, I paired my dress with stunning pearl earrings by Blair Nadeau, pearl platform Jimmy Choos, and the off-white Simone Rocha Pearl Egg Bag. It was the perfect combination of romantic, whimsical, and modern — and I felt so truly myself in it.
