Bride: “Our colour palette and style vision revolved around creating something elegant, timeless, and deeply connected to the beauty of Crete. One of the reasons we chose Metohi Istoria was its incredible historic charm — the cobblestone paths, textured stone walls, and the surrounding olive and avocado trees offered a naturally stunning backdrop. We leaned into those organic elements by choosing warm, earthy linens, soft neutral creams, and gentle shades of green with our table scape and florals inspired by the landscape. We wanted an environment that felt warm, romantic, and effortlessly sophisticated.”

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]
For this couple, history, elegance, and a deep sense of place were at the heart of their wedding vision. They wanted a celebration that felt organically connected to Crete, a place woven into their story, while embracing the natural textures, warm tone,s and timeless atmosphere of Metohi Istoria. Every design decision reflected a desire to honor the island’s beauty rather than overshadow it, resulting in a romantic, meaningful, and quietly luxurious aesthetic shaped by stone, garden greenery, and soft, elevated details. As the bride shares, “Before we began planning, we always envisioned a wedding that felt deeply connected to who we are as a couple. With my Greek background, Crete has always held a special place in our hearts. We spent three consecutive summers there together, and it quickly became one of our favourite places in the world. So when we got engaged, it felt natural to bring our closest family and friends to experience the magic of Crete for our wedding day. We wanted the celebration to complement the island’s natural beauty rather than compete with it — embracing organic tones, soft texture, and an elegant yet warm atmosphere. Above all, we hoped to create an environment that felt romantic, timeless, meaningful, and uniquely personal to us.”

[field title=”Proposal Story”]
When Domenic first asked me to be his girlfriend, he gave me a heart-shaped rose quartz he had brought home from a trip to Arizona the year before. He told me it symbolized unconditional and eternal love, and it became such a meaningful reminder of the very beginning of our relationship. Fast forward six years, and we finally had the chance to travel to Arizona together. Domenic planned a surprise off-roading trip through the Sedona mountains, and at the peak, with the sun setting over the red rock,s he proposed. It felt like a full-circle moment: starting our relationship with the rose quartz he brought back from Arizona, and then being in Arizona together as we took the next step in our lives.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]
One of the greatest gifts of hosting a wedding in Crete is the island’s extraordinary food culture. As an agricultural region rich with local produce, herbs, and olive oil, the catering embraced a truly farm-to-table approach, showcasing the flavors that make Cretan cuisine so celebrated. Guests were welcomed with chilled water bottles wrapped in personalized labels, a thoughtful touch against the warm summer heat, before enjoying an elegant selection of canapés, including crisp leek pies in delicate phyllo, savory chicken skewers, rs and refreshing watermelon–feta bites that honored the island’s seasonal ingredients. Dinner unfolded as a refined expression of Cretan gastronomy: octopus carpaccio, stuffed zucchini flowers, rustic breads enriched with olives and cheese, vibrant salads, and a beautifully composed duo of mains — lamb ossobuco over truffle risotto and lemon-roasted chicken served with seasonal vegetables. At the bar, the couple’s custom “His & Hers” cocktails — a bright Mojito and a Spicy Margarita — were served alongside Ginger Passion, Aperol Spritz, local wines from Manousakis Winery, and Greek draft beer. Later in the evening, an espresso cart and artisanal ice cart appeared as a playful, luxurious finale, giving guests a refreshing close to a culinary experience deeply rooted in Crete’s land and culture.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]
The florals were designed to feel soft, airy, and deeply connected to the natural beauty of Crete. Working with a palette of neutral creams, lush greens, and delicate seasonal touches, the arrangements were kept loose and organic so they would blend seamlessly with the surrounding olive and avocado trees of Metohi Istoria. Subtle accents of local fruit, including clusters of grapes, added a romantic, garden-inspired nod to the island’s landscape. Décor throughout the celebration followed the same philosophy of effortless elegance — warm linens, gentle textures, and an atmospheric gilded statement lamp that complemented the venue’s historic stone architecture. Every element was intentionally understated yet refined, creating a timeless setting that felt naturally woven into the estate’s character and the couple’s intimate connection to Crete.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]
The wedding cake perfectly echoed the couple’s romantic and airy design vision. They chose a two-tiered cake adorned with soft, ruffled layers that created a delicate, almost whimsical texture. Light floral accents were placed throughout, tying the cake into the wedding’s neutral, garden-inspired palette. The cake table was styled with flowing linen drapery and loose, organic florals, creating a beautifully layered vignette that felt both effortless and refined. As a playful and modern touch, the couple displayed their espresso martini tower beside the cake, making it a memorable focal point during the cake-cutting moment and a favorite detail among guests.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]
One of the most meaningful musical elements of the day came immediately after the ceremony. Following Cretan tradition, traditional Greek musicians led the joyful walk from the church to the reception. Surrounded by their guests, with music filling the streets and everyone celebrating alongside them, this became one of the couple’s favorite memories — a symbolic and heartfelt bridge between the ceremony and the festivities that followed.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]One of the most memorable details of the day was the couple’s seating chart — a beautifully arranged wall of envelopes, each holding a handwritten note thoughtfully prepared for every guest or couple. This heartfelt touch turned a practical element into an intimate moment of connection and gratitude.
As the bride shares, “Since so many of our loved ones traveled all the way from North America to be with us, it was really important to us that they felt appreciated the moment they arrived. Seeing everyone open their envelopes and reading their reactions was such a special part of the day.”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]
Throughout the celebration, the couple incorporated subtle personalized touches that made the experience feel uniquely theirs. During cocktail hour, guests were greeted with the couple’s custom last-name stir sticks, a charming detail that paired perfectly with their signature drinks. Bespoke cocktail napkins, designed to echo the wedding’s soft, organic aesthetic, added another thoughtful layer to the overall design. As the bride explains, “We loved weaving in small personalized moments wherever we could. Those little details — like the stir sticks and custom napkins — felt like such a fun way to bring our personality into the day.”
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Later in the evening, the celebration continued with a beautifully styled coffee cart that became an unexpected guest favorite. Each drink was served in cups finished with custom-designed stickers, a small but memorable detail that tied the late-night experience back to the couple’s aesthetic and personal style.
As the bride shares, “Our coffee cart served drinks in cups finished with custom stickers — another thoughtful detail that made the experience feel uniquely ours.”[/field]
