Scottish Manor Bridal Inspiration

Set amongst the rugged scenery of Scotland is an inspiration shoot that’ll leave you speechless. It’s romance in the purest form, and with Knot & Pop behind every styling detail, it sort of comes as no surprise. From the linen stationery by Lamplighter London to the rich florals from Pyrus, the gallery from Ann Kathrin Koch is one delicious image after another.

Romantic

From Knot & PopWith the founder of Knot & Pop, Susie Young, originally from Scottish shores, To The Manor celebrates all that Scotland offers with its honest beauty and stunning rugged scenery. Scotland has a way of capturing your heart forever – the mountains kissing loch-sides, the vivid and lush greenery, the misty mornings and open expanses of untouched countryside. If you are planning a destination wedding then allow To The Manor and Scotland to sweep you away. Shot at Ardkinglas, an opulent Scottish manor house and gardens, with character in every corner, To The Manor encapsulates a sense of theatre and romance in an indulgent setting.

Mixing purple tones with hints of green and a shot of rich red across florals, the palette speaks of a hunter’s haven and sets the scene for an atmospheric wedding. Pheasant feathers and ornamental birds feature as decorative touches, with the stationery by Lamplighter London also including touches of bird and feather motifs. Upon tabletops, a hand-died calligraphy table runner has ‘Love’ by Scottish poet Edwin Morgan inscribed, with stunning florals by Scotland’s finest florists, Pyrus Flowers, placed in copper vases, and a sense of feasting with fruits laid out for guests to graze upon. Beautiful hand-made plates by Love It Want It Buy It, mix with crockery from Helene Millot, with antique silver cutlery holding place names, written on red robin leaves.

Red robin leaves are layered to also form the table plan, reminiscent of bird feathers, and adding natural texture to the details. Further tactile flourishes appear across fabric flag table numbers, fabric menus and statement hand-crafted shields, in a collaboration between Knot & Pop and Lamplighter London. To move from day to evening, two incredible wedding dresses from UK designer Susie Stone team perfectly, with their dresses always speaking of individuality and absolute luxury. The Grace gown with its intricate rose detailing and ivory palette, contrasts beautifully with the evening allure of the 1920s inspired gown and all it’s embellished glory. Elaborate feather head-pieces by Vagabond Couture and Curious Fair, with jewellery by Maria Nilsdotter and Cornelia Webb add the statement finishing touches, giving an other-worldly feel to bridal style.

From Ann Kathrin KochBeing a wedding photographer is the best job I can imagine. Every week I work with people who are experiencing the happiest day of their life with their very closest friends and family.

I prefer working in a documentary style and shoot on film at every wedding for a few reasons, none of them nostalgic. I love that I am connected to my subject with no distraction like a screen on the back of my camera. I even love that shooting film is difficult. It slows me down and I can really concentrate on exposing the exact moment that matters. Mostly though, I just love the way it looks – incredibly flattering yet vibrant and full of life. Shooting film let’s me create images I love.

Scotland has always fascinated me. With an extraordinary beautiful but rugged landscape and known for endless rain and cold winds it’s not a conventionally pretty place. Yet everywhere you turn it seems as if things are just a little bit more special. The wind is a little stronger, the water a little more cold and the trees and mountains just a bit higher. If you are looking to be enchanted, this is the place to go. Combining the roughness of Scotland with delicate beauty creates just that – a little bit of magic.

Pineapple Themed Party

Here’s something I never thought I’d say: pineapples are super on-trend. Move over kale, there’s a new veggie fruit in town!  They’re popping up everywhere from fashion to food to interior design and, well, birthday parties! And I, for one, am totally on board. Because this event, designed and photographed by Tara Whittaker, is too adorable for words.

From Tara…  I teamed up with Dallas lifestyle blogger, Randi of Dukes & Duchesses, on a shoot designed to inspire with ideas for kid-friendly favors, menus, activities and entertainment.

Our starting point was the design trend that’s popping up everywhere lately. Pineapples! For centuries, pineapples have been symbols of welcome, which make them the perfect motif for captivating young guests. We chose splashy and flamboyant versions of pineapples printed on table runners, gift bags and even cookies. Randi brought along four of her own kids so I guess you could say that everything that day was kid-approved.

DIY Ideas

[dotted]

ONE | We aimed for a festive, party atmosphere by morphing pinecones into pineapples. Ponderosa pinecones were spray-painted in bright hues and tissue paper leaves were attached using fishing line. Ribbons were tied randomly amongst the tree branches of the space, and the colorful cones hung from them.

TWO | Ice cream bar. Themed after a carnival booth and complete with a striped awning, we offered scoops of colorful ice cream and a variety of toppings, served in halved pineapples. Ali from Modern Pulp created “sails” to label the toppings in their pineapple boats. Sundaes were served in goblets by Oh Joy For Target http://www.ohjoy.com/products/oh_joy_for_target.html

THREE | Black paper runners stamped with white pineapples ran across the table and under each child’s place setting. The custom stamp was sculpted from a sponge using sewing scissors.

FOUR | Each child was greeted with a personalized party hat and pineapple gift bag, filled with an activity book, crayons, a cookie, a t-shirt souvenir, candies, and a bottle of bubbles. The activity book by Modern Pulp invited the kiddos to color the wedding cake and navigate their way to the church via a maze.

FIVE | What better way to engage the kids than to give them a project? The outline of a pineapple was penciled onto a black background. Each child left their fingerprints on the pencil marks, leaving a gold, pineapple guest book for the Bride and Groom. It’s a whimsical way for a bride and groom to remember the little attendees at their wedding and it could serve as a playful art piece in their home together.

Sweet Kingscliff Family Wedding

I hate to say it, but I think the Bride & Groom’s sweet baby girl sort of stole the show. From that sweet little smile to the “Daddy, here comes your Bride” sign, it’s one adorable moment after another, and lucky for us Angie Branch captured every last bit. More wedding gorgeousness in the gallery right here.

From The Bride…I loved every precious second of our wedding day. From the moment I stepped out for the final time as a single woman on January the 11th to leaving as a part of a married couple late that evening.

Just short of four years after that first nerve racking date at 4pm we stood in front of 90 of our closest friends and family including our precious 20 month old daughter and finally became husband and wife. Many traveled from around the globe including Richards parents, two sisters, nephew and best friend from the UK.

My extremely talented brother Brent Osborne played acoustic and sang Wonderwall by oasis (Richards favourite band) as my loving dad walked me down the isle. We took a moment during the ceremony to present our daughter Autumn with a gift. She may have been too little to remember our wedding day but the petite bracelet will forever remind her if our never ending love and devotion to her.

Our celebrant Michelle Shannon was brilliant. She instantly made us both feel comfortable and was willing to go above and beyond to ensure our ceremony was a reflection of us a couple and made sure we were 100% happy before our big day. All of our guests could not praise her enough. We would highly recommend her to anyone.

Our photographer Angie Branch was also lovely. After only a few short seconds we all felt a ease with her, it was as though we had known her for years. She was extremely patient and worked beautifully with our daughter. Our photos are simply stunning. Each and every photo is like a piece of artwork.

I wanted to go with simple flowers for myself and my bridesmaids. Eden Palace (a local supplier) did a fantastic job with putting our bouquets together. The talented mother and daughter duo also made our beautiful cake.

The day couldn’t have been more perfect and we would both jump at any opportunity to do it all again.

Elegant Museum Wedding in Chicago

With Chicago History Museum as the venue for both the ceremony and celebrating, classic elegance was sure to ensue. And, judging by the pics from Emilia Jane Photography, it definitely did. From the city’s stunning architecture to the peony filled bouquets by Fleur Du Jeur, every inch of this wedding was covered in class. Check out this timeless beauty for yourself in the gallery.

From Emilia Jane PhotographyThis classic Chicago History Museum summer wedding was stunning from start to finish. The girls got ready in the gorgeous new Langham Hotel Chicago and we walked around the Chicago River for bridal party portraits. After an emotional ceremony at the museum, we had perfect weather for an outdoor cocktail hour! One of my absolute favorite things about the history museum though, is the epic black and white dance floor….which Julia and Tomas took full advantage of with friends and family.

Boho Chic Travel-Themed Orlando Wedding

Fair warning, you may find yourself gazing at this gallery from Amalie Orrange for hours on end—and it’s well worth the time. A blend of laid back Cali vibes and stylish Florida flair, this soiree is the perfect combo of boho chic, complete with the coolest light blue vintage jeep you ever did see. Topped off with some pretty adorable travel-themed details (hello, lettered globe!), this one sets the bar m’dears.

From Amalie Orrange PhotographyKat and Joe’s wedding was so gorgeous, it was a mix of California bohemian meets rustic Florida. Details galore and styled beautifully by Katie of RW Events. These two are total sweethearts, so in love and so into each other. One of my favorite images of the day is when Joe saw Kat coming down the aisle he started to tear up….ahhh love. Kat is a true California girl, laid back and oh so sweet and Joe is a Florida boy that moved out to L.A. to pursue his acting career. Kat and Joe met in L.A. when Joe was looking for apartments and they ran into each other. Joe introduced himself as he thought Kat was the apartment manager, little did he know she would be his future wife. They spent the rest of the day looking for apartments together and spent every day together from that day on.

Kat tied in so many meaningful details in from her cool California style from the soft and pretty florals, the globe and maps from her and Joe’s travels and the freaking rad vintage Jeep that her and Joe take on fun rides together, that Jeep was so dang cool.

We were so thrilled to spend the day with Kat, Joe and their amazing families. It was an absolutely amazing heartfelt ceremony, fun party and beautiful day with an awesome couple, did we ever say how much we love our job?!

From Michael and Carina PhotographyWe are so excited to share our favorite engagement session of the year with you.Brenna and Dave are madly in love and you might just fall madly in love with them, These two are just so in love and stylish! They picked the perfect location for their session, the place where they first met 8 years ago: Maryvale Preparatory School in Maryland. The sun was setting as we were walking through rose gardens, by waterfalls and labyrinths. We stopped for a few shots at the same spot under a tree where Brenna and Dave had their prom pictures taken years ago. They had a quiet moment by the tables where they went on their first date. We are just obsessed with Brenna’s amazing dress! Her necklace is an heirloom from Brenna’s grandmother; we love all these personal touches.

Woodland Inspired Baby Shower

If there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that sweet bab Isabella is one lucky little lady. And she’s not even here yet! But judging by the care that Megan Wappel Designs and Ashley Lindzon Events put into every last ounce of her woodland inspired baby shower, I’d say that she’s already loved through and through. With photos from Scarlet O’Neill Photography, there’s more riiiight here.

From Ashley Lindzon Events… This stylish mom to be dreamed of a whimsical and romantic woodland inspired baby shower and that’s exactly what she got. Her Toronto based shower was brought together by a fabulous team of local vendors and was the perfect day to celebrate Sabrina and her baby girl, Isabelle.

With unique elements like hand painted cookies and cakes, miniature savory treats and beautiful blooms, guests were treated to a perfect day celebrating a beautiful baby girl.

The color palate was soft pastel hues of peach, mint, blush pink and gold.

The sun was shining and the ladies sipped and sampled all of the wonderful goodies the party had to offer while congratulating the first time mom and showering her in gifts and good wishes.

Artists’ DIY Wedding at Carondelet House

I cannot stop grinning at the site of these adorable sweeties. It’s clear that they are madly in love, and their wedding? It’s as cute as they come. Both being artists with a love for color, they DIYed their day with an old Hollywood vibe in mind. Mix in blooms of berry pink and pops of orange from The Little Branch and coordination by Orange Blossom Special Events, it’s no surprise this gallery from Lukas & Suzy VanDyke is bursting with happiness.

From the beautiful Bride… The inspiration for our wedding was a celebration of all things we love. Like most couples, we wanted the wedding to feel really us – which is vintage-y, colorful, and artistic. We are both artists (Ryan works as an animator at Cosmic Toast Studios and I work as a designer at Mattel) and lovers of color, so we wanted to infuse our wedding with DIY projects to reflect that. We also wanted to have an old Hollywood vibe so we could share with our guests what we loved about LA.

Our invitations, which I designed, set the tone for our wedding with confetti, gold foil, and glitter! We found ways to incorporate our artwork throughout the celebration, from the illustrated bride and groom buttons for our guests to wear to the cake topper Ryan made that included our beloved pets. I love heart-shaped everything, so our fan programs and confetti were all hearts. Our family and friends literally tossed their love over us during our recessional – it was magical! And as a huge fan of flea markets, I found a vintage pink wicker room divider to use as our altar and over a dozen vintage cake stands for the mini pie dessert station (that went along with a strawberry whipped cream cake from a Chinese bakery as a nod to my heritage).

We’re always in photobooths, so that was a must-have for our wedding – we hired our favorite one that fit our vintage Hollywood vibe perfectly and they did double prints so our guests could leave one in our guestbook. That was our favorite thing at the end of the night, curling up together and reading through all the special notes our family and friends wrote for us.

And of course there was a lot of color! Our favorite colors, pink and orange and gold, were displayed throughout the tassels that we strung up around the venue, and we set up a rainbow vintage soda bar. The Carondelet House is a beautiful space on its own, but we really wanted it to feel like we brought our party into it! Our dinnertime escort cards were gold animals that we DIY’d – we chose safari animals because our first date was to the San Diego Zoo. For my bouquet and our tabletop floral arrangements, I wanted to ombre everything because I love colors organized neatly. Our florist did an amazing job ombre-ing the long dining room from whites and blushes to deep red velvets. Then those arrangements were wrapped up in paper cone bouquets at the end of the night as wedding favors for our guests.

My wedding dress was amazing kismet – I found it before I was even looking for a dress, after a really rough few months of wedding planning. It was hanging at a booth at the flea market, and the kind vendor let me try it on in the public bathroom – and it fit me perfectly! It was the gorgeous 1950s lace and tulle dress of my dreams.

For the ceremony, we wanted to incorporate our artwork in a small way, so we illustrated ourselves on 1.25″ buttons for the bride and grooms’ guests – that way, it’s a fun conversational piece for the guests to start the “are you from the bride or groom’s side?” talk. We also designed and hand-cut our heart-shaped fans (Ann loves everything heart-shaped), and cut and designed our bags of heart- shaped confetti to be tossed during the recessional. There were also frill garlands hanging from the rafters in our favorite colors, pink and orange and gold, two giant balloons with frill that Ryan set up, and a vintage pink wicker room divider we found at a flea market last year.

We wrote our own vows, and since we are both non-religious, we had a reading of our favorite love poem by e.e. cummings, “I carry your heart with me”.

For the bar, we provided a rainbow vintage soda bar instead of usual soda cans. We love vintage sodas, and things arranged by color. Regarding dinner service, our escort cards were on gold animals that we DIY’d (spray painted and primered and spray painted again…). Like most couples, we wanted to have a wedding that felt the most us. We are both artists, lovers of food, color and animals. So with that in mind, we DIY’d a lot of our wedding.

We had our fathers each give toasts before dinner, and then during dinner, Ryan’s sister (who introduced us) and Ann’s college friend each gave toasts. After dinner, our cake was a traditional Chinese strawberry sponge cake, which is one of the few Chinese traditions we included in the wedding. Ann had cakes like this for every birthday growing up. Ryan made the cake toppers, which include our three beloved pets in our day, Oliver, Bettie, and Penny. Then we included a mini pie buffet, since Ryan loves pie, from local baker I Heart Pies.

Charming Santa Barbara Estate Wedding full of Color

The eclectic beauty of this Santa Barbara soiree stuns, with pin-worthy details sprinkled throughout the day’s events. Set at Villa Verano, a Mission style estate, the ceremony and reception were both ridiculously ravishing. The only thing brighter than the vibrant decor was the bride’s smile – one look at the gallery shot by Mirelle Carmichael Photography, and it’s not too hard to see why.

From The Bride…Ammar and I met quite suddenly and randomly on a hot, New York City summer night. I was in New York City to cater a wedding and Ammar was passing through after being stationed overseas. We met at a mutual friend’s party and were instantly drawn to one another; since Ammar had to leave in few days we decided to meet the following day for brunch. Like all great romances, our courtship started with violent food poisoning: while on our first official date, strolling through Chelsea Market, I started uncontrollably vomiting. Ammar is a humanitarian aid worker, so he immediately knew I needed urgent care. Our first date turned into a 12 hour stint in the ER where he read me recipes from cooking magazines, spoke to the doctors on my behalf, and even changed my bedpan. I spent 5 days in the hospital and Ammar was there, the entire time, by my side.

After that, I knew he was the one. However our respective geographies poised a problem: I lived in California and Ammar lived literally wherever his job took him. After a month of long distance, Ammar joined me in California where we took a blissful 6 month vacation from life: we traveled up and down Highway 101, starting in Carmel and working our way down to San Diego and all the way back up to my hometown of Portland, Oregon. When it came time to choose a place for our wedding, we knew it had to be somewhere along the California coastline as an homage to our epic road trip.

After our sabbatical, I traveled to Pakistan to meet Ammar’s family where we got engaged. It was bittersweet: while we knew we were going to get married at some point, we didn’t exactly know when that would be. A few months after we were engaged, Ammar was finally assigned his next posting in…Abuja, Nigeria.

Let’s just say, we became very skilled at Skype. With my life on hold and my fiancé living in Africa, I had some free time on my hands to start planning our wedding. To keep myself awake long enough to talk to Ammar every night, I wound up spending countless hours reading wedding blogs and perusing Pinterest. I eventually moved to be with Ammar in Nigeria where my master planning continued. We live on a compound run by Ammar’s humanitarian organization; while the internet and power were a bit spotty and the idea of a Santa Barbara wedding seemed worlds away, planning our wedding became a daydream-esque hobby. Needless to say, I had every detail planned and ready by April 12th, 2014!

Because Ammar and I live so far away from our loved ones, we wanted an experience where everyone could be together at one place for an extended weekend celebration. I shied away from the traditional wedding venues as I wanted to dance the night away without having to worry about time limits. Enter Villa Verano. It’s a stunning private property located in the hills of Santa Barbara with built-in décor and old mission style ambiance. The space has multiple guest rooms, so our entire bridal party was able to stay on the premises.

It was important to me that every detail of our wedding was homemade and touched by a loved one. From the throw pillows my mother sewed, to the chalkboard my father built in our garage, to the wedding menus my sister designed, to the jam and pickle favors I made with my grandmother, everything had a story behind it. I wanted my wedding to have an organic, small, homemade, intimate feel—similar in essence to the dinner parties I love to throw for friends and family. I choose my vendors with this sentiment in mind as well.

All the hard work and attention to detail paid off. It was a truly magical night. I remember walk around stunned thinking to myself, it’s exactly how I thought it would look.

Behind the Scenes: Maids to Measure

We are all about supporting small businesses around here, and this next one is a true gem! Located in London, England, Maids to Measure is a one stop shop for all things custom bridal party and we’re lovin’ on every inch. With photos from Claire Graham, there’s more where this came from right here. And you might want to hold tight because we’re going behind the scenes!

SMP: Tell us a little about Maids to Measure!
Maids to Measure is a specialist Bridesmaid company that allows brides to come to the studio and design their own dresses!
Alternatively brides can order dresses already designed (and named after the bride) through our website (or through one of our wonderful stockists).

SMP: You’ve designed some of the most uniquely beautiful pieces I’ve ever seen. Where do you get your inspiration?
We’re lucky as its the brides themselves that bring their own inspiration to the appointments and we convert them into dream dresses for their maids, catering for all shapes and sizes.

We’re constantly evolving and always welcome new ideas. We recently launched 6 new colours with Ciate London which have proven very popular (iced frappe, empress, apples & custard, ferris wheel, cookies & cream, regatta).

SMP: What’s it like to run your own dress shop?
There’s never a dull moment! I set up Maids to Measure with my sister India when from our own experience we found their were little options for fashionable bridesmaids. We’d find a dress but not in the right colour of vice versa, with Maids to Measure you can choose any design have it in any colour, size length or fabric etc allowing the girls to create unique dresses.

SMP: What was the turning point in your business where you knew it would really take off?
It started with us working from home, just doing friends weddings and then friends of friends and before we knew it we had random people contacting us, from then it simply snowballed and we knew our idea and concept had legs!

SMP: The most difficult part of entrepreneurship?
Never switching off, I live and breath bridesmaids and I think thats what it takes. Even when Im away I cant relax but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

SMP: One thing you wish you knew when first starting out?
Theres no end, once you have the website done or say the first collection completed you just want to update and change things again, always wanting to improve and better everything constantly.

SMP: Do you have any tips for someone hoping to follow in your footsteps?
You need to be prepared that it becomes your life and you have to be super organised, not just in terms of work but also for a work/life balance. Id be on my laptop 24/7 if I didn’t specifically schedule in lunch/dinner with friends or family, after all its them that have supported us on this journey.

SMP: What’s one thing you’d tell someone who’s hoping to start their own business?
You have to bee passionate about what you’re doing and have 100% conviction that its going to work, any doubts will cause problems down the line. Theres an amazing event by Flourish & Prosper that has some amazing speakers sharing their business stories, which I cant wait for.

SMP: Three things every fashionable woman should have?
Knowledge! of what to spend on (shoes and bags) and what to save on (jeans and jersey), the latest apple product and the confidence to wear what you want, how you want.

SMP: One thing you just can’t live without?
My fiance Andrew!!!

Newport Beach Wedding Film by Pure Cinema Productions

It’s the look in the groom’s eyes when he sees his bride for the first time that reminds us why wedding films are so special. Capturing that raw emotion that pics alone can miss, Pure Cinema Productions shows us how beautiful of a memento a video can really be. See what we mean and watch each magical moment coordinated by Intertwined Events – from the coastal ceremony to the elegant reception – in this short right here.

From Pure Cinema Productions….We love filming weddings in Newport Beach, California. Something about the smell of the ocean, the views of the coastal hills and the California vibes just does it for us. Add in an absolutely stunning couple who are madly in love with each other and you’ve got a formula for a magical day. Ellen & Adam’s wedding was just that – magical. We knew from their first look that it would be an amazing day. There was just something special about watching Adam watch his future bride walk towards him for the first time in her beautiful dress. The look in his eyes and the smile on his face. It reminded me that we are filming one of the most special days in their lives. The rest of the day was not much different. Ellen & Adam married on the lawn overlooking the ocean before moving inside for their dinner reception and party. We loved every moment of filming this wedding – and hope you enjoy their Highlight film!

Modern Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art Wedding

Modern weddings? They’re kind of my jam. Clean lines, chic details and black + white palettes always feel fresh, and Chicago museum wedding is the latest object of my affection. Planned by Soiree Weddings & Events with blooms by Sweet Petal, it’s black tie gone gorgeous, and Diana Lupu captured every last bit. More right here.

From Diana Lupu Photography….Taking place at the fabulous Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, this wedding was truly one beautiful, stylish affair. It was modern, elegant, and as classic as they come, with one stunning couple as the focal point.

From The Bride…Our wedding was a dream from the beginning to end….from our proposal to all of the celebrations with family and friends to the ultimate end, our wedding day. The night we got engaged we decided three things about our wedding: We wanted it to be soon; we wanted it to be small and intimate; and we wanted it to be a representation of us, simple, classic and beautiful.

That being said, the day was perfect…. Being able to marry my best friend in the center of our beautiful city followed by a celebration filled with candles, flowers, lights floating about our heads, and a long white table filled with our closest family and friends. With the help of our amazing vendors, the entire day was carried out flawlessly. Tiffany, from Soiree Chicago, was a huge help as she and her team provided great recommendations throughout the process and made sure our day went smooth. The wedding meal, by Wolfgang Puck, was impeccable, light and delicious. Our uber-talented photographer, Diana Lupu, captured each special moment.

The night was black tie affair and our wedding party fit the bill. My bridesmaids chose their own dresses and the groomsmen wore tuxes. I found my amazing dress from Nicole Miller. Long, silky, sexy but simple. Doug wore his own tux by Hugo Boss, so classic and handsome. After eating and dancing under the stars, the night ended by leaving under a canopy of sparklers into a surprise horse-drawn carriage. And then, we lived happily ever after.

Urban Chic Toronto Wedding at Easy On Fifth

I totally love this couple. Their wedding was the best kind of chic – approachable and stylish mixed with a whole lot of fun, and their love for each other is so obvious I simply can’t help but smile. It’s just perfection. And it doesn’t hurt that the whole soiree was hosted as the uber sleek Easy On Fifth and captured by Taylor Roades Photography – making this gallery ridiculous in the best possible way.

From The Bride…Favourite part of the day: 1) Marrying my best friend 2) Champagne 3) Butternut squash ravioli 4) Late night limbo and advice to other couples getting married: Remember that it’s your day and you won’t be able to please everyone! So have fun — it’s about love after all!

From Taylor Rhoades PhotographyEverything took place at the 5th Social Club which has quickly become one of my favourite venues in Toronto. It is Chic and transforms from day to night seamlessly. The ceremony location was unique with a disco ball, giant tassels, an elephant statue and flower petals lining the aisle. It isn’t a combination that you think could work but it does so perfectly there.

Zoe went with a spanish lace veil during the ceremony and switch that out for a flower crown at the reception. Her dress was pure simplicity I don’t think it could have been more perfect.

Personality Filled DIY Wedding in Galicia, Spain

At its very core, this wedding captured by Jimena Roquero is gorgeous. The florals, the setting, the couple – it’s honestly breathtaking from start to finish. But beyond all that, you seem to get to know the couple with each stunning image. With it’s somewhat boho, somewhat vintage, somewhat classic feel, this couple packed their personality into every heartfelt detail, and you can fall in love with all of it here.

From Jimena RoqueroAlthough they kept some classic touches, Mar and Maurix wanted a different wedding so they personally took care of every single detail of the wedding.

Since one year earlier, Mar collected all kind of jars and bottles, which she painted and turned into the stunning table decoration she displayed at her wedding. And she created a different design for every single number of the table settings! They are both graphic designers and have a great artistic sense, and they used it to create and design everything involved, from the invitations, tote bags as favor gifts, to all the stationary, etc… Mar even designed her own dress which was executed later by the designer Sole Alonso. Mar know she would like to wear a simple dress with an original touch, so she wore some traditional knickers underneath!

Mar always dreamed of getting married in a ranch, but when she fell in love with Maurix, a boy from the Spanish region of Galicia, she decided she would change the ranch for a “Pazo” (the traditional Galician house”). However, since they are both big fans of the American culture, they rented an old Cadillac to drive them to the reception to surprise all their guests. Mar also had another surprise for Maurix: she brought to the wedding one of Maurix’s favorite bands to play a little live show during the cocktail hour. Of course, Maurix was in tears when he saw that!

Intimate DIY Florida Wedding at St. Pete Beach

J Layne Photography captured this stunning seaside soiree in a way that makes my heart sing the sweetest of songs. I could look at these gorgeous images for the rest of the day, and I might do just that. Because not only are these images gorgeous, but they are also filled to the brim with love and heartfelt details, making me head over heels in love with this gallery.

From The Bride….DIY Projects- Pretty much everything! For the ceremony we made the ribbon wands that were placed on everyone’s seat to wave, we also bought our own soft white linen fabric for the archway. The table decorations for the reception were also all done ourselves. We spray painted wine bottles in a soft creamy white, silver, and bronze and then put curly willow and baby’s breath in them. The vintage wooden crates were items we already owned – we came up with the floral/candle design that went into them. The silver lanterns were also items that we already owned. The succulent centerpieces we did ourselves – we ordered the succulents from a nursery and placed them in vintage tin mini-drawers. The gold table runners we made ourselves as well. The votive candles set up throughout we also purchased ourselves – our family who helped set everything up gathered crushed shells from the beach and added them to the votives for a special touch. We also did the favors ourselves – we blended together some gourmet coffee flavors and put them in little glass carafes for everyone to take home and called it: M + A – The Perfect Blend. We also did candy boxes as favors for the little ones! Our guest book was a drawing on a canvas that Mike drew himself of a couple holding balloons – we then had our guests stamp their thumbprints as the balloon portion of the drawing.

We wanted the wedding to really represent who we are as a couple – we’re huge into DIY so we wanted to bring that quality into the wedding. We’re really laid back, fun loving, and travelers – so we wanted those elements present on our big day as well. Besides that we were inspired by wedding blogs like Style Me Pretty and Inspired By This. If it was a wedding that incorporated soft neutral colors and a casual vintage flair – we couldn’t get enough!

We both really wanted our wedding day to reflect us as a couple. From selecting a beach side location to satisfy our love of travel, to the shoes optional ceremony to capture our laid-back, fun loving nature – we chose elements that incorporated our personalities and tastes. I wanted to create a soft neutral color palette that would play up the ocean and beautiful scenery around us. We used soft blushes, whites, and touches of silver and bronze. We also used plenty of candles to offer soft lighting to play up the whole intimate and romantic. It was also important to me to add touches that paid tribute to both my grandmothers who are no longer with us. I wore my dad’s mother’s vintage costume ring that she had given to me. The succulents that were used in my bouquet as well as our centerpieces were a nod to my maternal grandmother who passed her love for them down to me.

Being able to work on DIY projects for the wedding together also made the whole planning process so much more fun and creative! One of my favorite details of the wedding was our thumbprint guestbook that Mike drew himself! It’s now a charming addition to our wall art in our home. We’ve also since turned the fabric we used for the ceremony arch and the table runners into pillows for our bedroom – being able to re-purpose our wedding DIY projects into home decor has definitely kept our newlywed buzz going and is a great way to incorporate elements from such a special day into our home!

Our first look was a really special moment – but for me the most memorable was walking down the aisle. All the craziness of planning and running around disappeared the moment I stepped out onto the sand. Seeing our closest family and friends waiting, along with my handsome groom, set against the gorgeous backdrop of the ocean and white sand was a moment I will never forget. Almost as soon the music started playing (a mash-up of Jason Mraz’s I’m yours and Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Israel “Iz” Kamakawiwoʻole) and I started walking down the aisle I was completely overcome with emotion! It’s hard to describe how perfect and beautiful the moment was!

My advice to brides to be is: if you just focus on the fact that you’re about to walk down the aisle and marry your best friend – it will absolutely be the best day of your life!! We definitely had things that went wrong – from having to switch the location of the ceremony and reception because of weather to my vision of having the votive candles hanging over the tables not working out – and more. It even rained right up until the big moment. But focusing on the fact that I would soon be married to someone that I couldn’t imagine my life without (my ultimate partner in crime!) made all these details not even matter. If you just focus on the celebration and being surrounded by loved ones (and letting these loved ones handle any details that go amiss the day of!) I promise it will be the most perfect and beautiful day!

From The Bride… Taylor and I met when we were young kids growing up in a small town of Washington. We were high school sweethearts who separated soon after leaving home for college and remained strangers for years thereafter. It wasn’t until a chance encounter that we reentered one another’s lives and embarked on the incredible journey of becoming husband and wife thirteen years later!

A few months prior to our engagement my father tragically passed away. Our wedding was scheduled on the one year anniversary of his passing and we wanted the week to be as much a celebration, as a symbolic rising from the brokenness we experienced just one year prior. We live thousands of miles away from most of our family and friends and desired a destination wedding which afforded our guests a vacation and us an extended period of time to celebrate with the people we love most. Taylor’s grandfather lives in Hawaii and we both spent a considerable amount of time vacationing there through the years. Selecting Maui was an easy decision.

We wanted the event to embody family, friendship and connectedness, culminating in a grand celebration. The week of our wedding would be spent with guests at a beautiful resort, but we wanted our wedding day to be something truly magical. With a background in interior design and architecture, and a deep passion for historic structures, it has been my dream to be married inside a ruin. The moment we stepped onto the Haiku Mill grounds I knew our search was over. It is one of the most special places I have ever experienced. The structure is overgrown with foliage and the owner has seamlessly integrated ancient artifacts she sourced in Europe throughout the grounds. Stepping inside the ruin brought me to tears and our decision was made.We would rent large tour buses and shuttle our guests from a beachside resort into the Maui countryside for our fairytale wedding.

The theme of our wedding was Hawaiian Versailles Garden Party, which was heavily influenced by the nature of our space and the bounty of parisian artifacts sprinkled throughout. We wanted sophisticated elegance with a casual attitude. Guests were encouraged to wear neutral attire and the wedding party followed suite. The groom wore a grey suit with tie and the groomsmen, bridesmen (I had two) and ushers all wore variations of a grey suit ensemble with white collar shirts and rolled sleeves. The bridesmaids wore full length nude sequin gowns, which had an incredible vintage deco feel. I chose to wear a form fitting lace mermaid dress and a long cathedral veil.

As the owner of an interior design firm, 30 Collins, I took great pleasure in bringing our vision to life. I designed and handcrafted every detail of our day down to the website, invitation suite, maps, programs and cards to inform guests of our special day. I used a handwritten cursive script for all text on heavy white watercolor paper and drew a whimsical map to include in the package. The collateral was a wonderful window into what guests could expect for our big day.

Although our wedding was not held on the beach, the ocean has significant meaning to Taylor and myself. Just prior to the ceremony we made the short drive to a remote outcropping and spent our last few moments together alone with the ocean before becoming husband and wife. Our photographer, Bryce Covey and Videographer, Love & You Video, followed us down to capture the very intimate moment. The experience and resulting photos still take my breathe away.

Our wedding day was one of the most magical of my life and an experience I will forever cherish. Taylor and I were incredibly blessed to be surrounded by so many family and friends who traveled so far in support of our love and celebration of the next chapter in our lives together. Of the innumerable magical moments which occurred that day, one of the most memorable was in the form of a giant rainbow which greeted us upon being pronounced husband and wife. I knew it was a special gift from my father to signal his joyful blessing and it will remain one of the most treasured memories of that once in a lifetime day.

From Love & You Video…We feel so lucky to have filmed Nicole & Taylor’s wedding. They chose to have a destination wedding in Maui, at Haiku Mill, one of the most unique and sought-after wedding venues in Hawaii. Once a real Sugar mill, now breathtakingly beautiful event venue. It’s like stepping back in the time and getting surrounded by elegance and beauty.

Video was very important to the couple, specially since brides grandmother was not able to be a part of their special day, we felt a big responsibility to capture every important moment as perfectly as their wedding was so the grandmother can feel like she was a part of it too.

Everyone can see how good looking the couple are, supermodel gorgeous! Not only that, just watch the video to see how strong the love is between them and how happy they are to be marrying each other.

Virginia Hermitage Museum Wedding

From Echard Wheeler PhotographyMeredith and Brad met through mutual friends in the winter of 2012 while they were both living in Norfolk, VA. Their romance continued to grow quickly, and after a couple of months if dating they decided to move together to Pensacola, Florida, where Brad would be stationed for his next assignment in the Navy. Brad proposed to Meredith in the spring of 2013 in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Over the next year the couple began to plan the wedding of their dreams, and it was just that.

The Bride and Groom felt that their hometown of Norfolk, Virginia was the ideal location for their nuptials to take place. In particular, the Hermitage Museum and Gardens, located on the Lafayette River, had always held a special place in Meredith’s heart, as she had spent many days throughout her childhood exploring the riverbanks and gardens. The Bride’s Uncle Mark officiated the wedding under a large oak tree in the East Garden overlooking the river. Meredith walked down the aisle in an ivory Temperley London gown with an illusion neck line and appliqué flowers while Ambrosia Quartet played a rendition of “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles.

For the reception, the couple wanted to play on the arts and crafts style of the Hermitage using antique furniture and rustic decor provided by River Designs (Vintage Furniture Rentals) and Distinctive Event Rentals. The farm tables displayed beautiful arrangements from the talents of Bloom, the Art of Flowers, in vintage toolboxes along with white milk glass vases. The incandescent string lighting and candle-lit mercury glass contributed to an enchanting and intimate ambiance for the evening.

Catering was provided by Chef by Design, which designed a menu that brought their own unique flare to Southeast Virginia’s culinary tastes. Fried green tomatoes, bacon-wrapped scallops, and macaroni and cheese coquettes were passed to guests during cocktail hour, and dinner station highlights included beef tenderloin with asparagus and whipped potatoes, ahi tuna bites, cheeseburger sliders, chicken and vegetable dumplings, and Mai Tai shrimp. For dessert, Doumar’s Cones and BBQ, a local Norfolk institution since 1904, was on sight to serve chocolate and vanilla ice cream cones to guests using their original (and the world’s first) waffle cone maker. The red velvet wedding cake was baked by Chocollage. The couple ended up dancing the night away with their closest family and friends to the sounds of the very talented and entertaining local band, Rare Mixx.

City Hall

From Jimena Roquero….Aileen and Harry met in DC where they both work and live, but they decided to secretly get married in New York. They picked a date in the middle of December and they celebrated a romantic elopement in City Hall. It was a perfect day, just the way they had planned it. They even got a free ride from the taxi driver who drove them to Tribeca for the photoshoot!!

From The Bride…My husband and I met in DC but we decided to travel to NYC for the wedding because it is one of my favorite cities. I moved away from NYC in 2003 and to this day still miss it dearly. We wanted the day to just be simple and just about us, so we didn’t tell anyone except for my girl friends who would be our witnesses. The day after, we surprised our family and friends with the news.
