Elegant Garden Wedding In Upstate NY With Tuscan-Inspired Details

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were white, blue, grey, green, blush, and yellow.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

From IDA ROSE EVENTS: Gena and Adam’s NY wedding was a true destination experience for their guests. The couple’s casual yet luxurious style was made known in each decision in detail throughout the day, and guest experience was key. The venue itself is a work of art, and our goal was to highlight the European influences found throughout the property. Little accents of Tuscan inspired decor peppered the day- such as the Limoncello escort display and long banquet style kings table with lush floral and a plethora of dusty blue tapered candles. A classic palette of blue and white set the tone for the beautiful June day, and even the tiny bit of rain that made an appearance right before their outdoor ceremony didn’t take away from the celebration. A deconstructed arch, and full aisle framing blooms made the already picturesque ceremony scene even more lovely, and cocktail hour in the gardens featured yummy signature drinks, a sprawling charcuterie spread, branded napkins and custom drink stirrers. The reception was a romantic candlelit occasion, with an al fresco feel thanks to the clear top tent. After dining at the guest tables featuring three different linen and table setting looks, guests danced the night away – followed by a bon fire after party!

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]I was told that we were going to help with the engagement with one of Adam’s good friends, while I thought there could be a possibility we would get engaged I truly didn’t think it would happen that day. Adam lured me to the roof to “take pictures” of our friends’ proposal. I immediately knew when we got to the top of the stairs and non one else was there but us 500 roses and a poster with our pictures on it. I was in shock as it happened and really couldn’t get the words to express how excited I was- I think I stood in shock for a bit just staring at Adam laughing as he was down on one knee. This was all followed by our parents surprising us in our apartment with champagne (they were meeting for the first time!!) and then the finale of it all was a surprise engagement party with friends. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world- and it was Adam so I knew how much time he spent curating this experience to make me happy![/field]

The Blue Ridge Mountains Provided an Epic Canvas for This Italian-Inspired Affair

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Tones of green with pastels. Pink, Peach, White, Green, Blue[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The vision for this Italian garden-inspired wedding in the mountains epitomize the perfect blend of nature’s grandeur and timeless romance designed by Passera Events. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountain landscape, this wedding concept seeks to transport guests to the enchanting gardens of Italy. Lush, overflowing florals in shades of blush, peach, and ivory adorned every corner, reminiscent of the picturesque gardens found in Tuscany. The ceremony space featured an elegant reflection pool that anchored the space for ground florals. The intimate dinner on the front patio of this villa was an al fresco dining experience that captured the essence of Italian gastronomy. The overall vision is one of serenity, beauty, and love, where the mountains serve as a majestic witness to a day filled with passion and elegance.[/field]

[section title=”The Fashion”]
[field title=”Wedding Gown”]The brides choice of a fitted, sleek wedding gown flattered her figure with clean lines and understated sophistication. She chose to add on a statement skirt for the ceremony that altered her look just enough to surprise her guests. This combination allowed the bride to enjoy the best of both worlds, with a form-fitting silhouette that showcases her curves and a flowy skirt that adds a sense of grace and romance as it billows gently with every step. The result is a bridal look that exudes both confidence and an airy, dreamlike quality.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Bridesmaids dresses in shades of green with garden-inspired patterns evoke a fresh and vibrant fashion statement. These dresses often feature a range of green hues, from soft pastels like mint and sage to deeper tones such as emerald and forest green. The garden-inspired patterns may include delicate floral prints or botanical motifs, resembling the lush blooms and foliage found in a verdant garden. These dresses blend harmoniously with the wedding’s natural theme, creating a cohesive and visually stunning bridal party look that brings the beauty of the outdoors to the forefront of the celebration.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The navy suits, with their timeless appeal and versatility, provide a polished and sophisticated foundation. The rich, deep navy color complements the contrast of the design and pairs beautifully with the lush green ties. The green ties added a pop of color and a nod to the wedding’s natural theme, creating a cohesive and visually appealing contrast against the dark suits. [/field]

[board_carousel title=”Cocktail Hour”]

[/board_carousel]
[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]The bride and groom chose to opt for a cocktail hour style reception where all guests were greeted with a cocktail of choice and an abundance of hors d’oeuvres that included fried crab cakes, lettuce wraps, biscuits, and fruit tarts. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Pastel shades are a delicate and romantic symphony of colors that evoke the soft beauty of a Mediterranean garden. Blush, peach, and pale yellow blossoms take center stage, reminiscent of the gentle hues of summer. The lush florals by Statice Design were the focal point of the design, centering the attention to the lushous array of blooms. The head table completing 56 foot long was graciously topped with a floral runner that expanded the length of the table. A green floral plate topped this table design that brought the perfect blend of simplicity and garden style design. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The simple wedding cake is a charming confection with a touch of nostalgia, featuring an ivory color palette and a retro design. The cake is a classic tiered structure, each layer covered in smooth ivory fondant, giving it a clean and timeless appearance. The ivory color symbolizes purity and simplicity, adding an air of elegance to the dessert.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The statement piece of cocktail hour was the refreshment of freshly made limoncello martinis that adorned a custom made wall by The Luxe and Co. This wall was created to ensemble an Italian market so that guests would truly feel the impact of italian culture. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]This wedding was a unique pairing of intimacy. With the ceremony totaling 23 of the bride and grooms closest family and friends, to the family style dinner for 60 and then concluding the day with a larger reception for more guests. The couple got to enjoy the most intimate parts of the wedding day with those who are closest to them.[/field]

Contrasting Colors Inside a Château Filled with Modern Elegance

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

I wanted a modern and more fashion-oriented design. The highly distinctive identity of this project is built around a palette of strong and contrasting colors: black, white and green combined with shades of orange and fuchsia. The black-and-white striped tablecloth and cane chairs add character to the dinner table. And, of course, tassel chandeliers to complete the décor for this dinner, which takes place in the Château’s beautiful cypress alley. The intimate ceremony in the Château’s inner courtyard is all about greenery, with a colorful floral touch.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Black, white, fuchsia, orange, green[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]

Located in Carpentras, the Château Martinay is a magnificent wedding venue with a blend of classical elegance and modern luxury. Set amidst sprawling grounds and majestic oak trees, this enchanting castle offers a serene and refined atmosphere, ideal for couples seeking a fairytale wedding experience in the heart of Provence!

A Late Summer Wedding at Holman Ranch in Neutral Hues

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Gold, ivory, green, cream, white, neutrals [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Our vision was to create a very elegant and sophisticated vibe, yet easy and fun. We wanted a calm environment and felt that was created through our neutral color scheme but still wanted people to let loose and celebrate. We had the absolute best vendor team that made our vision come to life through every detail. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]We both grew up in the Bay Area and visiting Santa Cruz was something we did very frequently. Nico’s family is from the area and it’s where we went on our first date. Nico proposed at a beach in front of his family’s home. It was very sweet and intimate and just the two of us which is exactly what we wanted. [/field]

My second look was a custom dress from Lace & Liberty in San Francisco. It was everything and I absolutely fell in love with it. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Bridesmaids dresses were from Kennedy Blue. They were great to work with. Everything was on time and you can order color swatches and a sample dress before placing an order which really helped me make a decision. [/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]We rented classic black suits for the groomsmen from a local store called Tuxedo Fashions. They were awesome and the order came with everything we needed including ties, shirts, and shoes. The groom wore a custom tailored suit by Canali, a white Eton shirt, a black silk Zegna tie, and black Oxford shoes. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]We had appetizers passed around during the cocktail hour which included mini lobster rolls, vegan rainbow rolls, and seared ahi tuna wontons. We also had a tomato and mozzarella bar for grazing. We had a plated dinner that included rustic bread and tie dye butter, a peach and baby greens salad, and three dinner options: seared salmon or mesquite grilled tri-tip with chimichurri or butternut squash ravioli. At the end of the night we passed around mini chicken and waffle bites and mac and cheese grilled cheese bites. We had three signature drinks: a classic margarita with sage simple syrup, a citrus gin fizz and a whiskey sour with blood orange. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Flowers were something very important to us from the start. We had a vision and Gavita nailed it. We wanted something elegant, sophisticated, timeless, calming, yet fresh and fun. It was Provence inspired so our color scheme was neutral tones, white, & cream with accents of gold and silver. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]We both love cake and wanted our guests to have a few options. Our favorite was lemon cake with strawberry buttercream. We also had a vanilla almond cake with raspberry buttercream and a bittersweet chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. All the flavors were to die for. [/field]

Charleston Wedding Planner Gets Married at Groom’s Family Bed & Breakfast

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

For our color palette, I imagined everything to be extremely tonal and reflective of the spaces we were in at the B&B. We wanted to make sure everything truly felt like ‘summer in New England’. We leaned quite heavily on yellow, all tones of green, ivory, cream, a light blush and light mauve!

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]My overall design and vision for the day was that I wanted everything to be floral forward because as a designer and planner, all of my weddings are extremely floral heavy. And of course, because one of my first memories at the farm was picking wildflowers with Nathan’s grandmother and cousin that I am now very close with. From my dress, to the invitation suite and floral installations, I just wanted the entire barn and property to be adorned with flowers as they always make me SO HAPPY.

For the vibe of the entire day, it was really important to us to have everything feel extremely approachable. We wanted the formal and luxury feel of a wedding but we wanted everyone to feel as if they were at home, celebrating with their friends! [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

It was December of 2021 and we were prepping for Christmas Eve dinner at His & Hers Farm in Alstead, NH. Just like the year prior, the Gowen Family was also prepping for what I have always called and will now forever call “The Hallmark Christmas Sleigh Ride” that a neighbor does for us every year. The whole nine yards with the Belgian draft horses pulling the sleigh through the woods while it’s snowing and you’re drinking hot chocolate. I mean come on!! So I thought we were going along with the tradition and truly didn’t think anything of it. During our ride, we were going through a field that once used to be Gowen property and we all got off to take photos together. We started with everyone together first and then Nathan and I were prompted to take one of just us, which is nothing out of the ordinary! We were in between the two horses and I remember seeing him step to the side of me in my peripheral vision and I was just blissfully unaware of what he was doing, while petting this massive horse next to me. And next thing you know he has to call my name to get my attention and all I see is Nathan is on his knee and I am completely shocked and in utter disbelief!

[section title=”The Fashion”]
[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

After trying on 20+ dresses, I knew the one that I tried on at a very spontaneous appointment with one of my best friends at Ladies Of Lineage was it! The dress was designed by Marchesa Notte and had all the qualities that I envisioned – a TON of floral appliqués, a natural fit, and a deep v neckline. I remember putting this dress on and looking at my bestie Eden and going “Oh no, oh no, oh no!!!! Eden I think this is the one!!!!” And she just sat there nodding her head, smiling, going “Yep!!! It is!!!!”

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]While we didn’t have formal bridesmaids standing at the ceremony altar with us, we did have both of our sisters and my three best friends get ready with me! They all had mismatched dresses that ranged from Reformation, Jenny Yoo and Antonio Melani. [/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

Nathan got his suit custom made at Bruce Julian in Charlotte, North Carolina. Coincidentally, this is a family business of my best friend, Eden, who was with me when I tried on and ultimately picked my dress!

[board_carousel title=”Cocktail Hour”]

[/board_carousel]
[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]

Because we wanted the entire day to feel approachable for our guests, it was really important to us to have food that checked all of the ‘fun’ boxes. We had many passed hors d’oeuvres at cocktail hour that were some of our favorite things – ahi tuna skewers, bao buns, and my favorite hors d’oeuvre of all time from Cru Catering who is based in Charleston, the green tomato bruschetta with burrata. We also had custom linen tea towels made with our hors d’oeuvres on them for servers to wear during service! We had a station styled dinner where each chef attended location offered either New Hampshire maple chicken, local cod piccata and because Nathan is a pizza lover – we created a custom, wood fired pizza station where guests had options to create their own or enjoy one we created. Each had accompanied sides ranging from local, summer veggies to a three cheese mushroom pasta.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Florals were the number one priority to me when it came to our particular design and aesthetic. My amazing floral designer, Lori DeNicola of Petaloso, traveled all the way from Charleston, SC to flower our day and I will be forever grateful for her and her amazing eye. One of the biggest parts of the design process for me was brainstorming with Lori and ultimately sharing my wishlist but also sharing that I wanted to give her creative freedom when it came to the floral installations. Forsythia is a native flower to New Hampshire so I knew that I wanted this suspended above the band & dance floor and to have touches of it all around the barn. Other than butterfly ranunculus, tulips are my next favorite bloom so I knew I wanted those installed and manipulated in many ways. We wanted to create a space that felt like flowers had exploded in the barn but in a very intentional way. Not one arrangement or install was the same! And the very first time I saw the barn was during our introduction into our first dance! Guest tables were placed around the exterior of the barn and adorned with tablescapes of custom china that were hand painted by Markey Mossman of Hatchcove Design. I had searched high and low for china that I loved and that I felt reflected the feel of our design, but especially our invitation as that truly set the scene for the entire weekend. Kelsey of Kelsey Malie Design created the most perfect watercolor lettering & floral suite I have ever seen!! I have also worked with Markey of Hatchcove Designs over the years on custom commissions for clients and I had a lightbulb moment one day to have her create custom dinner plates for us that had floral elements from our invitation suite. Each are different with their own nuances and have since been used in Nathan and I’s new home together.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

As a planner, my favorite part of any wedding day is to witness the moment of a private cake cutting. It is always the sweetest time for the bride and groom to check back in with one another, have a second to take it all in, cheers and then head back to the dance floor. So I wanted to make sure we had this moment too with of course a delectable cake! As a lover of all things sweet, I knew I wanted to lean into the summer feel and pick seasonal flavors for our cake. Our amazing baker, Molly of At Least There Will Be Cake, created the most exceptional ones for us – an earl grey cake with blackberry compote and fresh strawberry cake with vanilla bean buttercream.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]While we chose to forgo a bridal party, it was important to us to have readings from family members during the ceremony. Nathan’s brother, Will, who is in education in New Hampshire read an excerpt from “All I Really Need To Know I Learned in Kindergarten” and kept the entire crowd giggling throughout!

Music was the second most important thing to Nathan and I so we knew we wanted to create an ‘easy going’ feel for the ceremony with an acoustic guitar. Nathan grew up listening to James Taylor with his parents, so it was only fitting to have him and all other family process down to ‘Fire and Rain’. I grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac with my Dad in his workshop, so I knew I wanted to have ‘Dreams’ as the song we walked together down the aisle to. And lastly, all of our family & friends know that my favorite song of ALL time is September by Earth Wind & Fire, so naturally that was our upbeat, recessional song!

When Nathan and I first started dating and were traveling back and forth to see one another, one thing he would always do when he picked me up from the airport would be to have “Carolina In My Mind” by James Taylor playing. And when I was living in Charleston and he was in Fort Lauderdale, he would always tell me when we were apart that he always had ‘Carolina on his mind’. We grew to love this song so much and this ended up being our first dance song! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]During our long distance relationship, Nathan and I would meet in different cities to spend time with one another. But the first big trip we took together was to what Nate called “The Farm”. He had told me hundreds of stories of how they would spend summers there, visiting his grandparents in the house that their family has been in since 1877. Gowen’s Tamarack Farm, which still produces maple syrup to this day, became our own little slice of heaven. In 2020, Nathan’s parents purchased a property right down the road from his grandparents and opened what is now His & Hers Farm, including Gowen’s Guest House. Wendy & Dean fully restored and updated the historic 1850’s farmhouse which now has four guest rooms and are designed to encompass the history of the property and to offer the quintessential New England ambiance. In tandem with opening the guest house, Wendy & Dean simultaneously restored and renovated an old dairy barn into an exceptional wedding venue. When Nathan and I would visit his parents in the summers starting in 2020, there was no doubt in our minds that one day we would get married here. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]When we got engaged, we were in between two huge Belgian draft horses, Max & Mike. They are retired from formal work and currently reside in New Hampshire, leading the sleigh and wagon rides in town! We knew that we wanted both of them to be there on our wedding day as they were the icons from our engagement that everyone remembered. We held our ceremony across the street from the B&B, in a wild flower field along the Cold River. As Nathan and I were recessing down the aisle post ceremony and heading over to cocktail hour, we heard the quintessential clip clop of horses and looked up to Max & Mike come trotting down the hill to welcome us and our guests! It was impeccable timing to kick off the evening![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

When thinking about creating my bridal bouquet, I always had it in my mind that I wanted this organic, natural look and feel to it. Lori with Petaloso and I made mock bouquets for me the summer before and while I absolutely adored them, something in my gut wasn’t saying 100% yes. As we got through the 2022 wedding season & started the 2023 spring season, I remembered encouraging some of my brides who wanted to do a petite, mono bloom bouquet to use all butterfly ranunculus, which have always been my personal favorite. And while none of them decided to do so, one day Lori looked at me and said “Well, why don’t you just do this because it seems like this is really what you love!?” And then that was that!

A Rustic yet Refined Enchanted-Forest-Inspired Celebration

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Ivory and whites for a clean base to allow the pink and red hues in the floral arrangements to pop. Also, green from the lush greenery and foliage to the curtains and bar design and even the invitation suite. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The overall vision was an enchanted forest – something that was both rustic while still elegant, simple and perhaps slightly mysterious. The basis of the design was clean and elegant: white, heavy, textured linens with classic hemstitch napkins, simple furniture in all the earth tones with touches of gold, chunky, crystal goblets. A great basis to let the florals and details truly shine.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

During the “lock down summer” of 2020, I came down to Florida to spend some time with my brother and work at New Dimensions while I was off from school. Every single morning, I worked out with two of the New Dimension’s celebrities, Kim & Scott Richbourg. I instantly loved talking to them, hearing about their family and laughing together as Kim ran laps around us all. Little did I know, I would soon become a member of that amazing family. Fast forward to the summer of 2021. I just finished graduate school and decided to come back down to Florida for the weekend to spend some time with Brantley and Hannah. New Dimension’s threw a party that night for all of their members at the facility and we were all geared up for a fun night. I was sitting at one of the tables in the back, talking to several members, when the most gorgeous girl I had ever seen caught my eye as she stepped into the facility. At that moment I felt like time just stopped. She slowly moved through the room, greeting people as she went, and I quickly realized that this was Carley Richbourg. Kim & Scott’s oldest daughter that I had only heard about over our morning workouts together. Carley sat down at the table right next to me. We immediately struck up conversation and forgot anyone else was in the room, it immediately became just the two of us. The conversation was so easy, so natural and we were hooked. We even made travel plans together that night for “Brannah’s” wedding. We had several events that weekend where we were able to be together and that’s all it took for us to fall in love. Within 72 hours, we knew we wanted to be together. We had found our person. That quick weekend trip suddenly turned into a week, then two, then time slowly faded away and we never left each other’s side. Our only attempt at being away from each other ended in Carley jumping on a plane and beating me up to Georgia as I drove. That was it for us, we knew we had to be together. It was never a question of if, just a question of when. On April 2nd, I asked the love of my life to be with me forever.

We knew we wanted flowers and greenery everywhere (and who better to provide those than Velvet & Twine?!), but we wanted the florals to feel comfortable and beautiful without being overwhelming so they could truly be appreciated. Mixing in earthy materials like wood and leather brought out the natural, rustic elements that really created the depth we were looking for. We built on the basics with lots of fun, custom details: from the pre-ceremony cocktail hour to the ceremony to the cocktail hour to reception and after party – there were custom details everywhere! Kim, Carley and I all love the details and we tried to be really pointed in where we added the customization. We felt like this really elevated the event.

The Whiskey Lounge was a gift Kim wanted to give to Travis, since he’s a big whiskey drinker and she wanted something special just for him. Sexy, leather seating, moody lighting and a whiskey dispenser elevated that space even more. I cannot believe the total transformation.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Wanting her family and friends surrounding her at the time of the proposal yet also wanting to say “yes” in what was, at the time, our future home of Charleston, South Carolina, set out to be a daunting task. To make the task even more intricate, the pandemic of our lifetimes was in full effect. However, nothing was going to prevent the proposal she desired from happening.

The date was May 24th, 2020, the bride-to-be walks into the middle of White Point Garden where the groom-to-be is looming in the background trying to stay out of sight.

As she walks into the middle of gazebo, he whispers in her ear the statement that epitomizes their entire relationship: “I will love you more than I did yesterday, but not as much as I will tomorrow.”

With his nerves at bay and eagerness growing, he got down on one knee and asked her to do forever with him. As he slipped the ring on her finger, all their family and friends, who traveled from all up and down the east coast, appeared from their hiding spots though out the park to bring the surprise to a breathtaking end.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]The wedding gown story started back in Feb 2021, NYC. Amidst the pandemic, the bride and her mother flew to NYC for the Australian designer’s, Pallas Couture, trunk show. There the bride chose her ceremony dress, which took 5-fittings (all through zoom since the dress was being made in Australia and the country was shut down) and 1 year later, the hand-made dress was at her front door. She also had a reception dress that was just a white slip dress from Show Me Your Mumu and a silk gown with a cape from the Spanish designer, Cortana, for the welcome dinner. Her wedding shoes were Jimmy Choo, reception shoes were Cult Gia, and her welcome dinner shoes were Hermes. All jewelry was from the brides mother and late-grandmother. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The wedding menu of course featured traditional Italian food. Dinner began with sea scallops, followed by ravioli, and finally beef filet with porcini mushrooms and parmesan cheese. For dessert, guests were served a passion fruit sorbet and later a traditional Italian wedding cake. Can’t forget the cannolis at the welcome dinner![/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The florals were very organic in structure with a dusty pink rose as the focal point amongst other neutral blooms. The ceremony was framed by cascading florals, greenery, and pillar candles down the steps of the villa. The cascading floral design carried over to the long running table set on the villa grounds overlooking Lake Como.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The couple had a Millefoglie, a traditional Italian wedding cake made of creme and berries![/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]There were two readings; a poem “Vows” by the groom’s grandmother read by his best man and the “Love is not to Possess” by James Cavanaugh read by the bride’s man-of-honor, her brother. The officiant was the couple’s best friend from college and both the bride and groom wrote their own vows.
The seating of the mothers song was “Mama Said” by The Shirelle, the procession of the bride song was “First Date” by Taylor Acorn, and the recessional song was “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder, all of which was played by a harp soloist.
The first dance song was “Everything” by Michael Buble, which the couple had their dance professionally choreographed and they had practiced for 5 months! The father/daughter dance was to “Stay with Me” by Daniel Jang and the mother/son dance was to “You’ve got a Friend in Me” by Carol King. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Seating Arrangements:
The couple chose to sit at opposite sides of the single, very long table for their welcome dinner; their thoughts, why have people fly across the Atlantic to possibly be seated at the lonesome ends. They wanted their guests to feel as special as they did and ultimately make the linear table full of 40 people feel as close knit as a dinner for 4.
Back story, the groom had to take an etiquette class for an entrepreneurial course where he learned the backstory of seat placement. The couple thought this would be a proper way to do the seating charts!

The couple loved the idea of each seat having a meaning and placing their friends and family in each unspoken one with a slight twist.

The bride and groom took their places at the host seats at the end of the table. To each of their right was their guest they wanted to honor the most with the guest’s partner seated directly to their right. This was our way of subtly showing our appreciation for all they have done for us through out of lives both individually and as a couple.

The first seat to the left of host seats, the bride and groom chose to place their closest allies, otherwise known as their closest friend. This pattern alternated on the right and left side of the table all the way down until the bride and grooms ends of the table met. This created an atmosphere far greater than any one could have expected. Their were constant laughs and joyful conversations through out the dinner with guests who never met before and with guests who have known each other for decades. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Stationary:
Each piece of stationary was meticulously thought out; each word changed over and over until the couple felt it sounded perfectly like them. Some of the most meaningful quotes were:
“Because you have believed in them, celebrated with them, loved and encouraged them…” – the first sentence on the invitations.
“Years, friends, and glasses of wine; these things must not be counted.” – at the end of the ceremony program
The couple also came up with a weekend pocket guide with local recommendations to do, see, and eat! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Thank You Speech:
By choosing a destination like Italy coming off the chaos of the pandemic, the couple understood many family and friends wouldn’t make it but it also meant the people who had journeyed over were the ones meant to share in their special weekend. So to end the reception, the couple was bathed in speeches of remembrance and love but what left the guests in tears was the bride’s thank you speech. Within that speech was a node to her late step mother, who tragically lost her battle with depression three years earlier. All guests could feel her grief but also her love for each of them knowing her and her now husband wouldn’t be where or who they are today without them.[/field]

A Vibrant Coastal Wedding with a Surprise Ceremony

This couple knew they wanted, and needed, to have a big celebration with all of their family and friends, but they also really loved the idea of a small ceremony where they could be married in a more private setting. So the team at Glint Events suggested the idea of a surprise ceremony at the rehearsal dinner, and it went even better than anyone could have imagined! Guests were shocked and elated to see the groom riding in on his boat in a white tux. Family members were seated at the end of the dock while guests stood for the brief and sweet ceremony. Sarah Grace’s younger brother walked her down the aisle and everyone celebrated their nuptials by tossing rose petals as they walked the dock.

Tips for Planning the Honeymoon of Your Dreams on a Budget

Let’s state the obvious – weddings are expensive! Are we right?! By the time you have made all the payments (the venue, the catering, the dress, etc.) your bank account will have taken quite a hit…possibly leaving very little to put towards your honeymoon. We know that the thought of paying for (or planning) one more thing may seem insurmountable, but we promise – it’ll be SO worth it! This is your time to unwind with your partner after all of the stress leading up to your big day. Here are a few ways to get the honeymoon of your dreams without breaking the bank.

Photographer: Leslee Mitchell

1. Stay in One City

For most of us, a honeymoon is the only excuse we will have to take a week or more off of work. With that kind of time, it can be tempting to try to see as many new and exciting places as possible. One of the most expensive parts of a honeymoon is the transportation to and from your destination(s). If you’re flying, it’s going to be expensive, especially if your flight is international. To minimize your travel expenses, opt to stay in one city or one general area for the whole trip. The more time you spend in one place, the more like home it starts to feel–you make it “your place”. Explore different restaurants, take a day trip or two, plan fun excursions! If you’re worried that you’ll get tired of the same scenery, you can spice things up by switching hotels and checking out a different local area! It’s a surefire way to relax while getting the most out of your honeymoon destination.

Molly Carr Photography

2. Take Local Transportation

This may sound a little scary, especially if you haven’t traveled to your destination before – but don’t fret! Many honeymoon locations are hot tourist spots too and have the public transportation systems totally figured out–maps in different languages, stops at every major sight, and plenty of helpful signs that will lead you to your destination! Of course, before you commit to relying solely on public transportation, we recommend doing some research on your destination to make sure that their systems are safe and reliable.

Photographer: Hannah Alyssa

3. Pack Light

We know this is a tricky one–you want that perfect look for each day (and night) of your honeymoon! If you are flying to your honeymoon destination, look into the baggage regulations for your airline. Most allow one free carry-on bag and a personal item, so do your best to squeeze your dream honeymoon wardrobe into those two bags. A few airlines still allow a free checked bag for certain flights – which is awesome! Just make sure to weigh your bags before you get to the airport to avoid any overweight fees, we’ve all been there…

When you’re packing, start with the essentials. It is easy to get caught up in the frenzy of packing for a big trip and forget the most important things. This can add up when you need to buy replacements at a markup while you’re traveling. Make a checklist for yourself and don’t leave until you’ve checked off every last thing.

Here are some must-haves that are often overlooked or left behind:

  1.   Travel umbrella
  2.   First-aid kit
  3.   Purse-sized snacks
  4.   Refillable water bottle
  5.   Phone chargers
  6.   Headphones
  7.   Toiletries: sunscreen, hairspray, dry shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant

Photographer: Sharla Pike

4. Use Your Rewards Points

Rewards points are a great way to save money, and many of us forget they even exist! They pile up and we forget to use them before they expire. Now is the time to use those babies up! If you’re still in the wedding planning stages, use a credit card that has great travel rewards to pay your vendors–this way you can feel good about spending the money because a portion of it is going toward your honeymoon.

If you are considering applying for a new credit card, look into getting one with no foreign transaction fees. They can be a big unexpected expense if you are planning an international honeymoon. Most foreign transaction fees are around 3%, which can add up fast!

In addition to credit cards, most travel companies have their own rewards systems. Almost all airlines have some sort of rewards program that adds up to free flights or at least a discounted ticket. Car rental companies offer rewards members free upgrades along with other discounts and benefits. Hotel reward programs offer upgrades as well, and with enough, you may even get a few free nights!

Katie Parra Photography

5. Choose a Hotel with Perks

You’ll need a place to sleep while you’re away, but a hotel can be so much more than a room with a bed and bathroom. Look for a hotel that has a kitchen or a kitchenette! As we all know, it can get a bit pricey to eat out for every meal. Make a day of going to the market and stocking your kitchen with local goodies. You’ll spend less time worrying about where to eat and more time cozying up! Some hotels even offer a complimentary breakfast or happy hour. It’s a great idea to take advantage of these perks so you can save your money for going out to fancy romantic dinners.

Another tip! Your hotel may also offer transportation to and from the airport or discounts on local attractions. Call ahead and find out everything they have to offer so that you get the most out of your stay.

If you really want to live like a local while you’re honeymooning, consider a vacation rental, like Airbnb instead of a traditional hotel. While there are some over-the-top expensive vacation rentals, most tend to be more affordable than the average hotel. Plus, you get all of the perks of a home away from home–most hosts even stock the refrigerator with treats! It’s the best way to truly immerse yourself in the local culture of your destination!

Esther Sun Photography

6. Exchange Your Money Before You Travel

It is always a good idea to have cash on you when traveling, but converting money when traveling internationally can be costly. For the best exchange rates contact your bank or credit union before your trip. Most major banking companies offer their customers generous exchange rates with lower fees than you will find at the airport or another exchange counter at your destination. Some may require advanced notice to acquire the currency, so allow about a week for it to be ready to pick up.

Photographer: Sonya Khegay

7. Consider All-Inclusive

I know what you’re thinking, all-inclusive sounds expensive…and it usually is, at least upfront. The price can be scary to look at, but remember that includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, hotel…everything! If you still have sticker shock, consider pricing out what the same vacation would cost if you purchased those things separately. On average, the all-inclusive price is less expensive in the long run. That being said, make sure you’re going to get your money’s worth. Additionally, if there are restaurants in the city that you want to try, think twice before committing to an all-inclusive package or you may end up double paying for your meals – it all depends on the location!

Speaking of all-inclusive –  most cruises also fall under this category! Not only are your meals paid for, but your transportation as well! Cruises can be a fun and stress-free way to travel without having to deal with airport lines and driving.  Another plus is that there is little to no access to cell service or internet, so work will just have to wait till you get back ;)

8. Check Deal Sites & Local Entertainment Books

Trying to save money and planning an enjoyable trip can seem like two different goals, but they don’t have to be. There are so many websites that offer great travel experiences and activities at a discounted price (up to 70% off!), like Groupon and Living Social to name a few.

Most cities or states in the US have local Entertainment Coupon Books that are sold on their website. These books include coupons for restaurants, experiences, and discounted admission to museums and other attractions.

KT Merry Photography

9. Check with Your Concierge

When you arrive at your hotel, check with the concierge to see if they have any recommendations for restaurants or activities. You can also inquire about discounts that different vendors may offer guests of the hotel! Finally, some hotels have brochures for popular attractions that may have coupons inside. All in all, we definitely recommend speaking to your concierge upon arrival, they have a wealth of information that is sure to make your stay a memorable one!

After breakfast we decided to grab hot chocolates & walk through the shops in Old Sacramento. We ended up walking towards DOCO and right as we were under the copper arch (The exact spot we first saw each other) Chris proposed! It was perfect!! I had absolutely no clue that he was going to propose and was completely shocked! Afterwards we went and celebrated with cocktails.

Getting proposed to on Christmas Eve was so special because we were able to celebrate with all of our family that evening & into the next day. Christmas Eve will forever be extra special from here on out![/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Maddy and Chris wanted to make sure their wedding food was an elevated experience and that their guests did not go hungry. Keeping in the theme with Maddy and Chris’ personal touches the appetizers were his and hers favorites. Farm To Table put together the most elegant display of appetizers with tomato soup and grilled cheese, and the most delicious sliders. For dinner the bride and groom chose family style dinner. This was the perfect way to have the guests interact while they are at the table and feel at home. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The Maples offers multiple locations for different parts of the wedding and Maddy and Chris wanted to encourage the guests to explore and see the gorgeous property. We placed lounge furniture throughout and had different activities like an interactive guestbook, and bucket list cards for guests to fill out. Large interactive signage greets guests throughout also. The seating display was attention grabbing that guests wanted to look at all the tables not just for their names. Disposable camera display encouraged the guests to take lots of pictures! Everything was centered around lush garden flowers.
[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Palette Cakes created custom sugar flowers that matched the florals in the bridal bouquet. She also created mini cakes to go on the seating chart, as the couple love cake.
[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Grandpa was their officiant which was so cute and heart warming.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Instead of going for a traditional wedding morning and day Maddy + Chris decided to spend the morning together and help each other get dressed. Chris helped Maddy get into her dress while Maddy helped Chris get ready(tie bow tie, get jacket on, etc.). This was such a fun time for the two of them and maximized their time spent throughout the entire day.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Late night snack! Who doesn’t love a good alternative night snack to top off all they dancing they are doing?! Maddy + Chris definitely do as late night snacks are one of their favorite activities at weddings. So we brought in In and Out cheeseburgers along with piping hot pizza. The guests were absolutely thrilled and did not hesitate to dig in.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Once in a while, we come across a special bride whose wedding holds a special place in our hearts. Maddy and Chris are one such couple, and their wedding at The Maples was nothing short of magical. What made our wedding planning experience with them more special was the fact that her sister was a past Curated by Grace and White bride.

Their wedding day started of with them simply enjoying the day together. They drank champagne and helped each other get into their wedding attire. Maddy and Chris’s wedding day fashion was trendy-chic. The bride’s ceremony bridal gown was elegant, but what really caught our attention was her floral 3d floral veil that added an extra touch of sophistication to her bridal look. For the reception, she wore a stunning Grace and White Bridal beaded wedding dress that took our breath away. Chris also had an outfit change and changed into a white dinner coat for the reception.

The reception itself was filled with unique elements. The guest seating chart was a beautiful display that everyone enjoyed. We designed two beautiful wedding lounge sets that provided the perfect place for guests to relax and soak in the ambiance. Maddy and Chris wanted to take a unique approach to their wedding day and did that by having a fun grand entrance into cocktail hour, rather than the traditional dinner entrance. The spring flowers were a beautiful touch, with soft dusty blues, creams, and blush adding a soft colorful palette to the wedding. The balloon garland was a fun, lively addition to the festivities, and it was apparent that the overall intent was to pull off an unforgettable experience.[/field]

A Classic Palette and Wicker Accents in Lowcountry

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]For the wedding colors, we really wanted to keep the eye on the natural beauty of the venue and opted to stay within the neutral realm. All shades of white, ivory and light browns allowed us to pull in a variety of natural textures and patterns without being overwhelming. It also allowed the beautiful surroundings to be center stage.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Overall our design was again to lean into the natural beauty of Palmetto Bluff. The gorgeous tree’s that are all over the property, the tropical greenery that takes over in the summer and the oyster beds along the May River that are a staple of the Lowcountry. We wanted to elevate all of these natural elements while still being approachable.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Sam Edwards and Conley Grayson met their first day at the University of Alabama. The two dated all through college, but post graduation had to move to different states for their careers. A ‘ring for a drink’ wall created a special experience when ordering the couple’s signature drinks. Guests could order a Montgomery Mule where Sam is from, an Arkansas Arnold Palmer where Conley Grayson is from, or a Charleston Fizz which is where they reside today.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]We wanted our floral and decor to lean into the laid back and approachable-ness of the Lowcountry while still being really elegant and clean. We mixed varying shades and patterns of rattan while keeping a uniform look of flowers in vases instead of a mixed compote look. We really wanted each element on the table to speak for itself while still having a beautiful layered look that you are able to achieve at home. We brought the natural palms, greenery and oyster shells in in creative ways that served as little surprises for all of their guests.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was four tier white fondant with fresh flowers whimsically growing out of the base. Each guest was served a duet of flavors, the Montage’s Palmetto Cake which is a Bourbon Soaked Vanilla Sponge with Bourbon Milk Jam Crème, Shortbread Crumble topped with a Caramel Milk Chocolate Ganache. The second was called the Yellow Hathorne composed of Dark Chocolate Cake, Peanut Butter Mousse, Peanut Butter Cups and a Milk Chocolate Ganache.[/field]

This Southern Garden Wedding In The Heart Of Charleston Brings The Fun

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The main wedding colors were different shades of pinks and greens with accents of white, violet, yellow, and gold.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The couple’s main focus was creating an elegant, elevated environment for their guests to have fun! They wanted their guests to feel like they were in a colorful, southern garden but also in the heart of downtown Charleston. Tucked between many historical buildings and behind wrought-iron gates, their guests were able to enjoy a fun-filled night at the William Aiken House.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Alex and Catherine met at a friend’s birthday party in January of 2019 and started dating shortly after. A few years later, they decided to move to Chicago together to experience a new city. On one fall day in October 2021, Alex pulled off a monumental surprise. He was able to have both families fly into Chicago without Catherine knowing, and bring them to the rooftop where Catherine and Alex planned to meet that evening. Upon opening the door of the rooftop, Catherine saw both families, together, standing about 20 yards away. At this point she knew what was about to happen. She was then escorted to a private section on the roof where Alex proposed. It was truly the most incredible surprise.[/field]

The bride wore a one-of-a-kind, floral Justin Alexander gown that she purchased from Ava Laurenne Bride in Fredricksburg, Virginia while visiting her mother. Instead of going for a neutral colored heel, she opted for a hot pink flat from Anthropolgie as a nod to her bridesmaids dresses. She accessorized her dress with sheer tulle fingerless gloves, worn only for the ceremony. After their plated dinner and first dances, Catherine changed into a fringe Herve Leger dress to dance the night away, paired with Dolce Vita pearl-accented heels.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Bridesmaids were able to choose their own gowns in varying shades of pink in order to show off their personal style and personalities.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The bride and groom wanted their guests to experience true Charleston cuisine. Some of the highlights included mini chicken and waffles, scallops, mini lobster rolls, salmon, braised short rib, and sweet corn risotto. For drinks, they decided on two of their favorites: transfusions and spicy margaritas. Late night, their guests enjoyed espresso martinis and Chicago-style hot dogs, a nod to where the couple currently lives.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Florals and decor were both very important to the bride and groom. Keeping within the elevated garden party theme, they used a bunch of really fun patterned linens; some were floral, some geometric, but all equally beautiful. The tables were lined with colorful flowers, with focal centerpieces of large calla lilies. A live painter captured the ambience of the evening and the guests’ attention, painting a scene of Alex and Catherine’s first dance throughout the night.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Why only have one cake when you could have six?! The couple had six different cakes that were the most fun, unique, and delicious flavors. The flavor combinations consisted of lavender blueberry, raspberry lemon, chocolate almond coconut, strawberry lemon curd, and carrot cake.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

The bride and groom really wanted to keep every detail personal and upbeat, down to the ceremony music. The processional music was played on piano by the groom’s close friend, with the groom and his groomsmen walking into the instrumental of his favorite 80’s song “Hungry Like the Wolf” while the bride chose for the bridesmaids to walk in to one of her favorite Taylor Swift songs “Invisible String”. The bride kept things classic and walked down the aisle alongside her father to “Canon in D”. The recessional was “Paper Rings” by Taylor Swift, which started the upbeat tone of the evening. The couple also chose to do a choreographed first dance to “Best of My Love” by the Emotions, performed by their band Power2Party.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Instead of doing a mother/son dance, the groom and his mother surprised the guests with an epic performance with the band. With the groom on guitar and his mother singing, they performed Sweet Child O’ Mine while his new wife danced with her mother. It made for a special moment combining the two families and got all of the guests on the dance floor.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The bride and groom had custom escort and bar-back walls made, each fitted with chinoiserie inspired wallpaper to play off of the couples’ main linen and theme. The walls had custom trim, inspired by their venue William Aiken House. Noah from The Bearded Florist created a floral letter “J” for the bar-back wall centered between two sconces, giving the bar area a home-y feel.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]One of the couple’s favorite songs to belt-out in the car when they first started dating was “Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake. At the end of the night as their guests lined up to send them off, Alex and Catherine popped a bottle of champagne before sharing a private last dance to “Mirrors” and soaked in the final moments of their wedding day.[/field]

Chic Garden Party Wedding with Vibrant Colors and Modern Details

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Kelly and Nate’s chic garden party wedding featured bright summer colors like baby blues, bold yellows, and light pinks. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Following a gorgeous ceremony at Grosse Point Academy Chapel, the guests relocated for the reception at the Country Club Of Detroit. For the wedding reception, Kelly and Nate had a vision for a chic garden party with vibrant colors. Their outdoor reception space featured a classic black and white dance floor and romantic string lights. It was the perfect backdrop for their first dance. Dinner was served in the large indoor ballroom where guests sat at a mix of round and rectangular tables. After the speeches, the party moved back outside to dance under the string lights. The band kept the dance floor engaged all night, and the cigar bar with custom matches was a crowd favorite, too.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Kelly and Nate first met on Hinge before the pandemic. They consider themselves so fortunate to have met before their lives and the world really changed forever. Through the ups and downs of navigating the world’s changes, Kelly and Nate’s love grew stronger and stronger, ultimately leading to Nate’s proposal. Nate proposed to Kelly at her family lake house on Burt Lake. It has been in her family for over thirty years and holds so much family history and wonderful memories. He took Kelly completely by surprise with the timing of the engagement but he made sure to talk to her parents and brothers beforehand, which is something that was extra important to Kelly. He proposed during a weekend when Kelly’s entire family was all at the lake house together. It was the perfect way to kick off their engagement celebrations altogether. They set off to plan the ultimate wedding celebration with their closest friends and family![/field]

A Desert Wedding With Hanging Flowers, Gilded Blooms and Countless Fun Surprises!

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]White, blush, nude, gold[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Our wedding vision was to have soft and romantic decor that WOW’d the guests — especially when it came to the flowers! We brought in some modern glam elements to freshen up the delicate palette by using items like acrylic altar stands, mirrored dining tables, and gilded blooms. Jamie & Ben always knew they wanted some kind of hanging floral element, so we brought their design to the next level with lush hanging florals suspended above the dinner tables. With a starry, fairylight canopy and soft drapery swags overhead, we envisioned a romantic, glamorous and fun night for everyone to remember! The after party was always a big part of the vision as well. We dreamt of a retro pink & mirrored after party bash with girly retro vibes as a fun homage to vintage Palm Springs. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Jamie & Ben met in college at Gonzaga University in Washington state. After college, they moved to Seattle, and Ben started secretly shopping for engagement rings with the help of Jamie’s mother and sister. For his proposal location, Ben always knew it would be at Thunderbird Country Club. This club was always a big part of Jamie’s life, with her family being longtime members and having a home there. Jamie’s aunt and uncle were even married at Thunderbird Country Club many years before, and Jamie had always had described this as her dream wedding to Ben. He popped the question on the back lawn, with their families secretly watching them from inside. This same proposal spot was later the area where they would hold their wedding reception and start the rest of their lives together as husband and wife. [/field]

Jamie customized her dress to change the scoop neckline to a sweetheart neckline, and also made the straps detachable so she could choose to wear it strapless. Her Mach & Mach shoes were the perfect pair to her stunning gown, with a thicker heel to ensure she didn’t sink in the grass. [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Since the bride had grown up going to Thunderbird Country Club with her family, it was important for her to incorporate some classic Thunderbird elements into her wedding. One example of this is that the club is famous for their rotating flavors of specialty popcorn, so we added mini popcorn cones to each of the signature cocktails, which were attached by mini clothespins. This was the perfect way to snack and mingle at cocktail hour. The popcorn was even a custom flavor for their special day!

Jamie and her mom are also well-known candy fiends, so it was important to them that we included an amazing candy bar as part of their after party. Guests could fill up goodie bags of candy to take home with them, adorned with custom stickers for Jamie & Ben’s wedding.

The venue tray-passed In-N-Out as the late night snack while guests danced the night away in the afterparty. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Florals were a huge part of the wedding design. We wanted something their guests had never quite seen before, but without being too over the top. We worked with Butterfly Floral to create the most magical, glamorous and fun floral design. Gilded blooms were an unexpected touch that were blended into every arrangement. Flowers covered every area of the wedding including doorways, seating charts, table tops, pianos, and anything else you can think of! [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]As a nod to their playful side, they always knew their wedding cake had to be funfetti flavored. The 5-tier wedding cake sat on top of a lush floral base and had wrap-around flowers embedded into the cake up to the top tier. On the ground, at the base of the cake table, we repurposed ceremony aisle flowers to create a lush glamorous aesthetic that made the cake area really stand out. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Jamie and Ben are extremely close to their families, so it was very important to them that Jamie’s grandfather was their wedding officiant. Jamie even did a grandfather’s first look after her father’s first look. It was really important that both of their families felt included in all parts of their wedding weekend. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The after party was located inside the nearby ballroom. We opened up the drapery walls during dinner as a grand reveal to our pink & mirrored, vintage Palm Springs inspired retro-glam dance party. Special features were the gorgeous white and pink retro lounge seating by Revelry Event Designers, pink tufted DJ booth seated on top of a floral-lined white stage. There was even a custom photo booth backdrop made with fabric from the NY Veuve Cliquot ceiling drapery. The bride’s family is a HUGE fan of champagne and this special touch was one they will always hold near and dear to their hearts. The neon sign “The Thackers” was the perfect finishing touch to this fun photo booth. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Being more of a sneakers girl, Jamie wanted to change into her Golden Goose tennis shoes as soon as she could on the wedding day. After the first look and all the photos pre-ceremony, she opted to switch into her Golden Gooses before walking down the aisle! Nobody could tell since her long beautiful wedding dress covered them, but she was so happy to walk down the aisle in both style AND comfort! [/field]

This Flower-Focused Affair in Portugal Puts Disney Weddings to Shame

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]light pink, bright pink, baby blue, lilac and white[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Our main focus was to have a small wedding so we could focus on celebrating our love with our closest family and friends and to really enjoy our time with everyone. The vision was for the wedding to be timeless and elegant with lots of flowers. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]We had been dating since college and had always spoken about getting married and having kids. In the summer of 2019, we were vacationing in the Amalfi Coast and one night we took our Vespa to have dinner in Positano. First we went down to the beach to watch the sunset and Eduardo got down on one knee and proposed. Then we had a beautiful dinner on a balcony overlooking the sea. [/field]

[section title=”The Fashion”]
[field title=”Wedding Gown”]I have always found beaded dresses beautiful and I knew I wanted something classic and elegant but also breathtaking. So I went for a princess dress, fully beaded, which gave it the impression of shining in the light, with a long train.
For the second dress I wanted something more understated, like a silk dress, but spotted a beaded mermaid dress and felt like it was made for me so I ended up getting it as well.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]This one was harder because there were not a lot of good options but I ended up suggesting a dress to my bridesmaids that also matched the wedding visuals and everyone felt comfortable with. As we all live in a different countries (Germany, Netherlands, north and south of Portugal, Brasil and Luxembourg) we sent one to each bridesmaid and they had it tailored to them locally. [/field]

[board_carousel title=”Cocktail Hour”]

[/board_carousel]
[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]We wanted to have Portuguese elements in the food as a way to share our culture with our friends from different countries so we had grilled asparagus with a vinaigrette made with Algarve oranges as a starter and for our mains we had codfish (“bacalhau”) with shrimp “açorda” which are two very typical Portuguese things as well as lamb rack. Then we had a selection of traditional portuguese deserts as well as some cheese boards. The wine was also Portuguese of course, red wine from the Lisbon Region and white wine from the Douro region. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The flowers were the most important visual element of the wedding and what we spent the most time thinking about and researching. Once we decided on the colours we moved on to the types of flowers. We picked hydrangeas as this is a flower which is typical in Sintra (the Gardens of Penha Longa also have it) and it simbolizes gratitude, beauty and abundance as well as roses and delphiniums to create a garden-like effect.

The cocktail hour was in the garden, where we followed the same colour theme, with linens and flowers in the fountains.

For the dinning area, we went for long tables with garlands dropping down to the floor and gold candelabras to have a candlelit dinner with an intimate atmosphere.

Decorelle’s team, headed by Vera Flenova (the owner and flower designer), did a remarkable job in achieving our vision for the flower arrangements. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

We could not decide on which design to go for and, since we had planned for the cake to be surrounded by a huge floral arrangement, we ended going for a four layer white cake adorned with white peonies ( the main flower used in the bridal bouquet). We loved the final result of the simplicity of the cake with the exuberance of the flowers.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The photographer: After looking for a long time we always came back to Diane and we made the best choice. She understood us and really captured the most beautiful moments. She has a timeless and elegant style of photography which is exactly what we wanted for our wedding. On top of being technically amazing and a true artist, she is easy to connect with so we felt super comfortable shooting with her and trusting her.

Beauty: Tom Perdigão was the make-up artist and hairstylist and again, he understood completely the vision I had and even gave his input on the final details of the jewelry, the perfume etc.. He is simply the best, you cannot go wrong. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Advice to other couples:
First and foremost, invite only people who you know will be genuinely happy for you. You want to have only loving energy around you.

Figure out which aspects matter the most to you and invest in that. For us it was the flowers and the photographer so we didn’t get other things which would have been a nice touch but were indifferent to us (such as getting signature drinks or a Photo Booth for example).

Pick a photographer who has the same style of photography you like and, more importantly, someone who understands your vision and who knows how to give directions.

Getting a band before the DJ is a great way to break the ice and have fun, it’s definitely worth the money and it’s one of the things people will remember the most.

Once the planning is done, it’s done, so don’t waste time worrying and just enjoy yourselves. Focus on having fun together and with the guests, it’s a once in a life time opportunity to reunite so many people you love.[/field]

Clifftop Bali Wedding Brimming With Beautiful Details

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

We focused on modern white and green themes for our decoration, as we asked our guests to wear bright and colorful formal wear inspired by the colors of sunset.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

A clifftop wedding of our dreams. Since Bali is where we got engaged, it holds a very special place in our hearts, so we decided to celebrate our wedding there. Villa Anugrah – our venue location was nothing short of spectacular as it had every element we wanted. The bluest water of the Indian Ocean, a scenic sunset and white sand as the villa is perched directly above the world’s most famous surf beach. Our vision was to have an elegant & timeless decor that incorporates all the stunning natural views with a focus on a warm color palette, lush flowers and soft fabrics that work in harmony, all enveloped in the glow of candlelight. An ethereal, sophisticated and luxurious feel was highly important to us.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Being in a long distance relationship isn’t easy, so we made sure that we met every 4-6 weeks as I was living in the Philippines and he was based in Singapore. We went to Bali to celebrate his and his sister’s Birthday as it is one of our favorite places. After a few days of festivities with our family and friends he arranged a different hotel to stay at for a couple of days. We checked in at Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua and he got down on one knee in our room. It was all that I needed, just us with our promises to each other. It was simple, beautiful and meaningful.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

My wedding gown made me feel regal, beautiful and elegant. I wore a customized Boom Sason Full French Lace Gown. I worked closely with my designer from the Philippines to bring my vision to life. To create this design, we used two types of exquisite french lace accompanied by premium italian crepe for the base. The silhouette was her signature style – relaxed serpentine with a train. Boom and her team also designed a special pattern for my veil so all the lace appliques were individually and lovingly hand sewn. The lace carries very delicate elements – it had to look rich but not be too heavy. This complemented my overall look. A truly classic gown with elegant details. Wearing my dream gown made me feel like the most beautiful bride.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]It’s tradition for a bride to have something old, something new, something blue and something borrowed. I decided that my bridesmaids are going to be my ‘Something Blue’. My bridesmaids wore shades of blue with floral prints and had their gowns’ own designs reflect individual personalities while keeping the theme in mind. They all wore their gowns beautifully.
[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The groomsmen wore linen blue jackets and blue collared shirts that matched the color theme of the bridesmaids. Everyone looked sleek and sharp.[/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Bali Miracle surely brought their magic with food and presentation. Our guest enjoyed assorted canapes at the reception area during cocktail hour. We were treated to a 4 course meal for dinner starting with Pacific King Crab Salad, Lobster and Coconut Bisque, Grilled Wagyu Beef Steak and Moscato Poached Pear paired with their drink of choice. The dessert bar was a fun addition too. We set up 3 different open bars around the venue that also serve His & Her signature drinks. His was an old-fashioned drink and hers was a lychee martini. Drinks were overflowing all the way to the after party where the theme was disco.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]We wanted to fill up the venue with beautiful white flowers and some greenery to make it seem like a beautiful floating garden as we were on a cliffside. We used white tulips, pikok flower, white matthiola, white lisianthus, roses, baby breath, calalily, carnations and amimajus. We wanted to incorporate some balinese design as well, so as soon as the guest walked in, they were welcomed with 3 tiered balinese umbrella that was in every pillar from the hallway all the way to the lobby while listening to ‘Rindik’ (balinese traditional musical instrument) being played live at the reception area. A full gallery of our engagement photos were on display at the lobby. We had a floating stage built in the middle of the pool as our aisle and altar with the dramatic Indian ocean and skyline as a backdrop. The aisle was filled with beautiful flowers and fairy lights. A truly lush setting.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Our wedding cake was a 3 tiered chocolate moist cake covered in vanilla icing by Bali Miracle.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]We had a violinist play each song we chose for walking down the aisle – Mirror by Justin Timberlake and Golden Hour by JVKE. Our brother-in-law officiated our wedding beautifully as everyone was in the moment during the ceremony. We also had a 7 piece band during dinner and a DJ that played during cocktail hour and at our after party.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]In memory of and to honor my lovely mother, Bernadette, we dedicated a front row seat for her filled with beautiful flowers, her portrait and a framed message that said ‘Mommy, please watch over us’ during the entire wedding ceremony. I felt my mom’s presence and love from above blessing us at my wedding.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Our ‘One Day Away’ Welcome/Rehearsal Dinner was a perfect way to start the celebration. We booked Sadara Resort in Nusa Dua for a perfect dinner and drinks by the beach. Our guests enjoyed our open bar as soon as they arrived. Our caterers prepared a full Indonesian buffet for guests to enjoy.

The venue was decorated exactly how we envisioned it, maybe more. Our decorators and organizers had set up the place with full candlelight centerpieces on very long rectangular tables, and finished it with the hanging incandescent lights which felt like it covered the entire venue. We wanted it to be simple and romantic, such a dream. We wanted to give our guests a completely different experience.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]A surprise fireworks display during our first dance, and a same day edit video that made us all very emotional.[/field]

Simplistic Elegance In Greece With A Classic Blue And White Color Palette

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors chosen were exactly what someone would expect to see at a Greek island wedding. Make a short time travel and follow your Mamma Mia! dremas. Olive branches and pinches of white florals (oxypetalium) were used to both the church and venue decoration, while the white and blue stationery completed the overall design, keeping it simple and elegant.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]As the island has its own unique character, the bride wanted to enhance its natural beauty and highlight the simplicity of the island.
The vibe that inspired the overall design was to make it feel like a large family gathering, a real Greek experience that the guests coming from abroad had never experienced before. The story behind the location is this. Our beloved bride, coming from Nafpaktos, moved to San Fransisco when she was young. Years after, and so in love, she decided to come back to her favorite island where she used to have during her summer breaks![/field]

The bride chose to follow a total vintage look and you know what, she totally nailed it![/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Foodwise, “Fakalos / Talks Catering” prepared a Greek style buffet menu, titled ‘It’s all Greek to me’.
All choices were based on Greek cuisine, using exceptional Mediterranean ingredients and extra virgin olive oil.
“Horiatiki” salad,
eggplants “Imam”” – cooked the traditional Constantinople way – and spinach pie with hand-crafted “phyllo”-pastry & feta cheese.
Alongside, there was seafood such as fresh calamari stuffed with rice and herbs, ovencooked anchovies with fresh tomato and octopus slowly cooked with “kokaria” (small onions).
For main course, there were spit-roasted lambs, slowly cooked on a rotisserie over charcoal fire.
This is a typical Greek way of cooking that goes back to ancient Athens, when the Greeks would sacrifice animals to be favoured by their Gods!
For dessert, the newely weds had chosen ‘Pavlova’. Although this is not a traditional Greek recipe, the couple chose it for their wedding menu and mentioned that “this should be the trademark of Fakalos / Talks Catering”!
This is a “meringue cup”, filled with creme patisserie, fresh strawberries and homemade syrup topped with icing!
As for a later dessert, traditional “loukoumades” were served. These are small round-shaped doughnuts, deep-fried on site, served with pine honey and crushed walnuts![/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Olive branches and pinches of white florals (oxypetalium) were used to both the church and venue decoration, while the white and blue stationery completed the overal design, keeping it simple and elegant. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was cut just before our beloved newly weds dance to their all time favourite tune![/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]My favorite detail was the couple’s personality. Kind and warm people that wanted to celebrate their wedding in Greece with all their beloved ones. Family and their closest friends flew from all over the world to celebrate for their love![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Another amazing detail that truly moved me were the earrings and all the fine and vintage jewelry our beloved bride wore. They belonged to her beloved grandmother and shared with us that she could not left them off her wedding outfit. Those kind of stories are the ones that make us think that the wedding is not only about the fashion, it’s also about the family and the emotions. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]As a photographer and nostalgic person, I have always had a thing for places that made us time travel to the old world romance. To the days, when men were still gentlemen and women were princes. To the days when villages were still full of people, movement and happiness. My third special thing from this wedding celebration, was the island. The island’s picturesqueness, the island’s purity, the island’s architecture. If you haven’t been to Greece and especially Trizonia island, then you totally should.
