Multicultural Texas Hill Country Fall Wedding

At SMP, we love when a Bride and Groom incorporates cultural traditions into their wedding day. This handsome groom and beautiful bride did just that, incorporating Persian traditions into the ceremony, Swedish customs into the reception and Southern touches throughout. If that wasn’t special enough, they had incredible vendors including Mint PhotographyPearl Events and Ma Maison. See all the special moments in THE VAULT!

From Mint PhotographyThis romantic Fall wedding was a fusion of different cultures and overall just a day of pure joy! We’ve never seen a bride smile as big as Carly did and being able to capture that happiness is exactly what we love about photographing this time in people’s lives, and what we loved about this couple!

From Pearl Events…The Sofreh aghd was the table with all of the meaningful items on it and it is a Persian wedding ceremony tradition. During dinner, we had a Swedish Toast Master who was in charge of pulling the people up for toasts throughout dinner. The couple also had a box of wishes that they asked guests to make for them so that they could read them throughout their marriage and even read some during the ceremony.

From the Bride… My husband is Swedish and Persian, and I am from Louisiana and Texas. In our wedding, we used Swedish and Persian traditions to honor my husband’s culture. My southern roots were reflected in our welcoming party and send off, as well as some of the touches we included at Ma Maison. As my family has been in Austin for 24 years, we selected Texas as the appropriate location to get married, and had friends and family fly in from over 30 countries.

Bouquet Breakdown: European-Inspired Garden Wedding

Red was by far one of my favorite hues to see in soirees this past year. And at Christmastime? I love it that much more. This rich red masterpiece of blooms from Natural Beauties Floral is exactly why. It’s graced this European-Inspired Garden Wedding Inspiration captured by Kristin La Voie and today, we’re delivering the beautiful recipe.

European-Inspired Garden Wedding Inspiration

  • 10 Ruby Ranunculus
  • 5 Sunburst Dahlias
  • 10 Cherry Red Anemones
  • 5 Crimson Spray roses
  • 5 Peach spray roses
  • 5 Wild Blackberry branches
  • 5 Champagne Roses
  • 6 Coral Phalaenopsis blooms
  • 5 Peach Stock
  • 10 English Burgundy Garden roses
  • 15 Red Gomphrena
  • 5 Oxblood Cockscomb
  • Bits of Fall Foliage

From Natural Beauties Floral… Located in the heart of Chicago, Natural Beauties Floral’s sisterly-duo is known for their romantic, lush design aesthetic. Their unique creations not only reflect timeless elegance, yet they are the epitome of style. Every wedding is designed with an array of textures, color palettes and one-of-a-kind floral compositions. Their bouquets are a collaboration of the designer’s artistry, the client’s personality and nature’s beauty.

When we began conceptualizing the palette for this luxe bouquet we envisioned rich hues of an autumn sunset. From splashes of fiery pepper reds in the sky to the final glimpse of the golden sun setting in the distance, our imaginations began to overflow with beaming visions. We started by selecting vibrant cherry blooms in various textures, as we determined it was the dominant color for our bouquet. Accentuating the stately reds, we chose crisp tangerine beauties forming a radiant color scheme. The apricot undertones brought softness to the bold crimson beauties creating a harmonious balance.

We commenced the design process by layering the beauties one by one to create depth and whimsy to our English style romantic bouquet. The detailing of each flower added another dimension to the bouquet making it a work of art. We sweetened our composite with wild blackberries and foliage for a touch of rustic elegance. The blackberries emphasized the noir centers of the anemones bringing a hint of edginess to the overall design; we love pushing the boundaries. To finish the bouquet, we adorned it with an oxblood ribbon treatment.

Romantic Christmas Wedding in the Woods

There are a million and one reasons why we love the holidays, but coming in at number one on our list? Getting to spend the day with those we love. Which exactly why we LOVE  this celebration, for these two planned the ultimate family gathering in the form of their Big Day. Marrying the holidays with holy matrimony we’re pretty much convinced they’ve given us the best present in the form of pretty. So if you need us, we’ll be opening this gallery thanks to Simply Sarah Photography in THE VAULT!

From The Bride…Sam and I have known each other since high school (15 years) but it took me moving back home a couple of years ago for us to realize that we were meant to be more than friends. Never did either one of us imagine that we would end up marrying one of our best friends, but God had a bigger plan for us and our relationship. After a year and a half of dating, Sam proposed one afternoon at the King Edward Hotel in downtown Jackson, the place where we fell in love. We decided on a wedding date that was 6 months away (after college football season), and started planning. We knew that we wanted a simple, intimate celebration with our friends and family, and a Christmas wedding seemed like the perfect setting.

We decided on The Cedars as the wedding/reception venue because of it’s rich Jackson history and it’s beautiful setting. Because it was December, we wanted it to feel like a cozy Christmas party it was exactly what we had hoped for. One of our closest friends, Blaine, married us, and our ceremony could not have been more perfectly “us.” My brother and Sam’s sister stood by us as our “best people”, while the rest of our party took a seat in the front rows. I walked in to “We have all the time in the world”, Sam’s favorite song from his favorite James Bond movie.

I didn’t hire a wedding planner, so all of the decorating and coordinating was up to us. I made all of the greenery and the mantle art while my friend and bridesmaid Kate arranged all of the flowers. My mom and cousin helped me and Kate with the tablescapes. We added little bits of Christmas with trees and fun garland and included a polaroid station so that guests could sign them as a “guest book”. Yummy food trucks were a fun catering alternative that seemed to be a hit, and my friends brought my chocolate lab Riley by after the ceremony to enjoy the party and everyone’s table scraps. Our wedding was truly a culmination of all of our friends and family coming together to help us share our celebration of love back with them. The perfect Christmas gift.

Darci Greenwood from Beargrass Gardens… It is not hard to find inspiration when designing a wedding at The Ranch at Rock Creek in Montana. Frosted covered mountains and wide open, snow covered ranchland makes for a beautiful backdrop for an intimate affair. The Ranch at Rock Creek graciously hosted us to tell this Winter Love Story.

When designing this shoot, my first thought was to use winter colors and tones that complement the landscape, yet use touches of luxurious warmth to enhance the western allure. A color story of gray-blue, neutrals and a deep rustic red came together perfectly. The red ties together the season and a timeless look of elegance.

Styling the couple, I knew we wanted a very timeless look. We found the most perfect winter gown from designer Rosa Clara at Velvet Bride. Luxurious and thick, the material was perfectly flowing yet warm for a winter bride. We completed her look with her hair down with soft curls to fit the ranch setting.

The tabletop was draped with a lovely cream patterned LaTavola Linen and then a linen runner in an earthy brown. Lush florals in hammered silver containers, silver antler candlesticks with a variety of natural colored tapers and silver bud vases filled the middle and ran down the entire table. Each place setting had beautiful plate ware from The TOP accented with crystal goblets and vintage champagne coupes. We added the vintage teal wineglass for a warm blue tone to the table. Natural grayish/blue geode slices were used as place cards with Anna from Cast Calligraphy’s gorgeous script.

Holiday Entertaining with Elegant Tablescapes

You’re cordially invited to take a seat at this incredible table dreamily captured by the every so talented Ashley Sawtelle. A beautifully rich hued tablescape that is sure to inspire some major merriment, this sophisticated setting is everything you could wish for this holiday season. Filled with foliage, chocolate colored cosmos, and lavish ruby tones, we invite you to see it all laid out in THE VAULT!

From Ashley SawtelleInspiration for this holiday shoot comes from the European influences of the 100-acre historical family estate set among a Ponderosa pine forest. Rustic stone structures, sprawling secret gardens and ivy-covered walls and trellises provide a stately and private setting/milieu for a beautiful dinner alfresco.

The centerpiece captures the rich, saturated colors of the holiday season filled with foliage, sage, carmine red peonies, blush-colored roses and chocolate cosmos. The ivory, French china provides a softness and grace to the table against the rich linens and the deep colors of the centerpiece creating a sophisticated and whimsical feel to the table setting invoking the magic of holiday dining.

Paired with mixed patterns of vintage silver-plated flatware from Hester & Cook, the table echoes traditions both new and old. Bronze candlesticks from Campo De’ Fiori hold chocolate tapers creating an ambience of an invitation to linger longer at the table.Red charm peonies, blush roses, chocolate cosmos, chocolate lace and rustic foliage and herbs were all used.

Nordic Holiday Table Inspiration

Times a ticking loves and Christmas is literally at our doorstep. If you’re anything like me, you have yet to solidify your mighty Holiday tablescape but maybe this Nordic inspired number from Charmed Events Group + Gladys Jem will get the creative Christmas juices flowing. It also works wonders for a little get together any time this winter. Because in terms of decor, fur and copper are always a good idea.

We are full swing into the holiday season and this time of year always calls for entertaining and more entertaining! I had the great privilege of traveling to Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden and Norway) over the summer and was so inspired by the design aesthetic that they had…and the fact that they love the Christmas Holiday! Scandinavian design is all about natural elements, particularly wooden elements, presented in a clean and modern fashion, paired with whimsical detailing such as furs, handcrafted toys, etc.. I loved everything that I saw and absorbed in Scandinavia; I really wanted to create a table and holiday scape that I could share with people to peruse and be inspired by for the Holiday Season!

We created a modern Holiday tablescape, inspired by Scandinavia by pairing wooden elements with textures. One key element that I saw in Scandinavia was the use of furs so we draped sheepskin furs over each seat. We used wooden chargers for each place setting, layered with clear plates (for modernity) and accented each setting with a laser engraved wooden menu. To further add dimension and whimsy to each place setting, we hand painted deer toys in white to complement the setting along with etched glasses and copper mugs. The table was covered with garlands of eucalyptus and white peony blooms and accented with high tapered candles to create a Winter Wonderland feel.

We also created a festive beverage station that had egg nog and hot chocolate, encouraging guests to “get festive” by choosing a beverage of choice! We accented the setting with snowglobes (because they never go out of style) and simple parcel presents tied with festive striped ribbon.

Marriage Matters: Christmas Tree Farm Anniversary Session

Want to know the best part about being married? When you and your new husband start creating your own traditions. This rings especially true during the holiday season, for these new special moments with your sweetie are something special. Take Erin and Alan whose annual tradition of foraging a Christmas tree turns into much more than that with Sorella Muse behind the lens. Snapping sweet kisses and every step of romance, this is one gallery that makes our holiday oh-so-happy. See it all in THE VAULT!

From Sorella MuseWe wanted to keep things simple with this shoot, and just convey the warmth and joy of being with the person you love during the holiday season, so we ventured out to a rustic Christmas tree farm on a Sunday afternoon. Erin and Alan have been married for 4 years, yet they still look at each other like newlyweds. I’m so inspired by their steadfast love for each other. Bowerbird Atelier created a gorgeous bohemian holiday wreath and darling sign in painted gold calligraphy on wood. Imagi by Fiona did Erin’s makeup and hair towards a relaxed glamorous look that would be perfect for a holiday party. Erin and Alan love cutting down their own tree at a Christmas tree farm, and it makes for such a fun family tradition and holiday outing!

From the Bride-to-Be…We always cut our tree down the day after Thanksgiving. Our Christmas tree decorating traditions include hiding a pickle in our tree and getting an ornament each year that summarizes the year. And we always get a new Christmas ornament when we travel to a new place! We love being home for the holidays, making gingersnaps and watching Elf! This is our favorite time of year so we thought it would be perfect to have a holiday anniversary shoot. Taking photos together was such a fun way to remember our commitment to each other, and we love these images that Nicole captured so much!

Vibrant Autumn Inspired Bridal Session

While most of my girlfriends crave the summer sun, I’ve always looked forward to another time of year. Fall is my favorite, from the colors to the crispness in the air, and I must say, Winsome and Wright captured that magic to a T with this breathtaking bridal session set at the gorgeous Grant-Humphreys Mansion in Colorado – join in with this fall lovefest right this way in our VAULT!

From Winsome And Wright… There is a magic to fall that doesn’t happen any other time of year – a magic that is momentary and fleeting. A magic that you can’t quite ever describe, can’t recreate, and can’t define. It’s the changing of the leaves, the bursts of color, the crispness in the air. One moment it is here and the next it is gone. Fall is whimsical, light, and airy, yet there is a richness and depth to it. This is exactly the elusive magic that we wanted to capture.

The trees were in perfect transition from the brilliant green of summer to the blazing tones of crimson and amber that come with the fall. Deep and saturated blooms and foliage used by Siloh Floral Artistry captured the richness of autumn. Leanne Marshall’s Gabrielle gown brought out the lightness and whimsical feeling that comes with the changing of the season. All of this paired with Liz Wegrzyn’s stunning makeup artistry completed the magic.

There is beauty everywhere. Sometimes if you don’t recognize it, you will miss it. Like fall, beauty can be fleeting and momentary. But that’s what makes it magical and desirable. We hope that this inspires people to experience and see the magic a little bit more.

Winter Elopement in Paris

Breathtakingly beautiful and filled with romance at every turn, Paris is made for marrying.  So take every ounce of lovely and add in a stunning duo ready to elope in the city streets and this, loves, is my happy place.  From the most brilliant bridal ensemble ever to the awe-inspiring winter’s afternoon.  See it all captured in insanely gorgeous images by Le Secret D’Audrey in THE VAULT right here.

From Le Secret D’ Audrey… Romina and Darren came from warm Australia to get married in Paris on a cold day. At first it seemed crazy to me, but when I saw the dress Romina chose I was convinced she was so right.

The city was under a thick fog, it was freezing and nobody was in the streets: all the elements to a magical day just for the two of them.

From the Bride… We met at a bar through my best friend. As I am Italian, Darren tried to impress me by speaking Italian, but I wasn’t impressed. It was months later that I decided I liked him. Darren and I have been together for 10 years and we both fell in love with Paris on our first European holiday together in 2012. We Encountered many problems when planning our wedding back home in Melbourne which is when we finally decided to do what we had deep down only dreamed of doing, eloping to Paris. We wanted a day that was entirely about us and not about the fanfare that comes with weddings these days.

Eloping to Paris was made easy by using the services of Yanique and her business. Even though we had planned our wedding in Melbourne to suit us and our personalities I wasn’t looking forward to it and always had doubts. As soon as we arrived to Paris I knew I had made the right choice to elope to my favorite city. My advice to brides is to never settle for anything less on your wedding day. It is a day about you and your husband and nothing else.

To think we said I do looking out over the Eiffel Tower and spent our wedding day walking the streets of Paris doesn’t seem real. But we did it and we have the most beautiful photos to remind us of that.

Rustic + Organic Tennessee Valley Wedding

Who would think that a sweet sign, simply spreading joy, would be such a fun addition to a celebration!? This Southern wedding was filled to the brim with signs proclaiming “Yay” and every time I saw one in Abigail Bobo’s pics, a smile appeared. But it was just one detail in a whole day full of love and laughter – get in on these good vibes in our VAULT right this way!

From Abigail Bobo Photography… Fog rolled across the Tennessee hills as torrential rain cut through Franklin, miraculously skirting Leiper’s Fork.

At Southall Meadows, preparations were underway as Sarah and her team set up wooden tables with cascading florals. Beyond Details filled the barn with delicious food aromas for this relaxed and joyful wedding day. Outside, guests merrily waved their ‘YAY’ flags, perfectly summing up the mood of the day. (If you look closely, you can see a little ‘Yay!’ in almost every photo.)

Zach built a beautiful wooden arch for them to wed beneath, while Perry put her skills to work creating the canvas ‘YAY’ flags.

With a beautiful gown hand-selected for Perry by Sarah of Sarah Seven herself, Perry glowed and floated her way through the day.

Perry and Zach have been together for 10 years. Through thick and thin, come hell or high water, they stuck it out. As Perry said before their wedding day, “The commitment is already here. We are simply celebrating a bond of love that already exists; and forging a new bond with the people who celebrate us.”

From the Bride… From the beginning, we both felt strongly about a “no-theme” theme. An event that felt personal to us was our main goal. That being said, our focus was on natural colors like green, gray, and brown, with touches of gold mixed in. We love being outside together and wanted an earthy botanical vibe without a lot of frills. Southall Meadows, our venue, ended up being the perfect spot for this because it is so gorgeous on its own and needed very little extra decor.
We took on quite a few projects in hopes that people would notice and see them as a reflection of us. The “Yay’ flags took a few weekend sessions on our back porch to complete, but we loved seeing our guests wave them around all evening! We also had a couple rubber stamps made and personalized the napkins ourselves with the logo we designed and the faces of our two adorable cats! A lot of the decor items on the tables were our personal knick knacks, which made the barn feel more like home.
This is the exact type of advice I spent the 11 months of wedding planning rolling my eyes at, but I’ll echo it anyway because it ended up being so true for me! Try your hardest not to fret over all the details of your big day. If I had known how many things would go “wrong,” (it was unseasonably cold, the buses ran behind, my hair got wet, I could go on!) I might have been tempted to call the whole thing off. But I can honestly say that it all worked out and I wouldn’t have changed a single decision! You just can’t prepare for everything. But you’ll worry no matter what anyone says, so let the knowledge that your guests love you be your mantra!

From Lovely Leaves FloralOur goal for this shoot was to create something romantic and modern. The White Sparrow Barn was the prefect venue with the contemporary white walls and the sliding barn doors accented with black hardware. We wanted our main focus to be on the stunning barn with pops of whimsical hues and gold tones. The florals added the perfect mix of color and textures to compliment the blank canvas the barn provides.

Intimate Wisconsin Winter Lodge Wedding

In the words of their photographer, Emily Steffen, “This was the beginning of a second beginning for Emily and Scotty! Emily had lost her Chris to cancer and Scotty had lost his Bev to cancer both a few years prior; they both had walked the hard road of care-taking for their loved ones and grieving a gigantic loss in each of their families. But through the grief and the emotions and navigating every day life, they found one another.” From the bride’s hand-knit dress to the fresh fallen snow, this day is everything a wedding should be. Beautiful, personal, and filled to the brim with love.

From Emily Steffen… What started out as a few phone conversations sharing about their past loves turned into late night phone calls laughing together and dreaming about a life together! :) He was strong for her and she was strong for him…they were exactly what one another needed.

Scotty and Em shared their wedding vows at a cute little Lodge in northern Wiconsin. The snow had been falling earlier that morning so the evergreens were covered in a fresh blanket.

They tearfully shared their new promises to one another, remembered their loss of Bev and Chris and celebrated with sleigh rides, mulled wine, flourless chocolate cake and lots and lots of laughter! Dinner was served with Emily’s homemade butternut squash soup and a hearty-holiday meal for family and friends!

And I do have to say, that one of my most favorite pieces of the day was Emily’s wedding dress. She knitted it herself as she was navigating through grief. With every stitch, she turned her grief into joy as she dreamed of her future full of more love and more joy!

Elegant Elopement in New York City

You guys, Ramona and Kristian planned the perfect New York City wedding! For after a decade long romance they exchanged meaningful vows in an elegant elopement in one of our absolute favorite places, Central Park. With L&L Style Photo behind the lens snapping up every handful of Designs By Ahn and loving moment, we’ve got it all just waiting for you in THE VAULT!

From The Bride…We met during our university years and it sounds like a cliché, but we really did fall for each other at first sight. Later on Kristian admitted that he had an epiphany while he was watching me from a distance very early in our relationship: He suddenly knew that I was his future wife. Yet, it still took him ten years to finally pop the question.

After Kristian proposed we quickly realized that we wanted to elope with just a few close friends and family. Neither of us had ever dreamed about having a big, traditional wedding and also we wanted celebrate the special day somewhere special. I came across wedding photos from New York while looking for wedding inspiration online, and I remembered how much I fell in love with the city when I visited in my teens. We just knew it would be the perfect location for our vintage themed wedding.

On the day of the wedding we got ready at our hotel. I had decided to do my own hair and makeup and the flowers arrived at the hotel while we were getting ready. I was so thrilled to see that the florist had exceeded my expectations. The bouquets were even more beautiful than I hoped they would be.

The ceremony in Ladies Pavilion was magical, and Judie Guild held a beautiful ceremony. We could not have picked a better location to get married. Even the weather was perfect that day.

The idea to rent a vintage yellow checker cab came just a few days before the wedding and I contacted Peter Yannello at the New York Checker. Unfortunately, all of their vintage checker cabs were at an event miles and miles away, but he kindly offered to stay in the city and use his own private vintage cab. Peter provided lovely company and he made our day so special. He played lovely vintage music in the back of the car, and we drove around Manhattan from location to location following the vintage Art Deco shooting itinerary the photographers L&L Style Photo kindly designed for us, listening to songs by Michael Bublé and Frank Sinatra. That was one of the highlights of our wedding!

We had an incredibly intimate and lovely dinner at Jojo’s restaurant on the Upper East Side. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. I have rarely experienced more attentive and professional servers. Best day ever.
