Classic Peach & Gray Toronto Wedding

Although their plans for an outdoor ceremony got rained out, you’d truly never know the difference. Because when you’ve got a coordinator like Gush Events and a floral designer like Ooh La La Designs on  hand to whip up an indoor ceremony site in no time at all, you’ve basically hit the wedding vendor jackpot. Add in the absurdly gorgeous film images from When He Found Her, and this is one gallery you’ll never want to leave.

From The Bride… Lucas and I are both from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. My brother introduced us in touch when Lucas moved to Toronto and soon after we started dating. A short year and a half later on my birthday weekend, Lucas brought me to our hometown. He coordinated with my mom to plan a party at our family camp. When we got there Lucas worked hard to convince me to go for a snow shoe during a winter storm. While freezing and treading across the lake, he asked me to stop and watch a video he made on his phone. It was too windy for me to hear the words so I didn’t clue in right away that he was proposing until he got down on one knee! Meanwhile, his friend Kurt was secretly hiding in our boat house – freezing – but photographing the whole thing.

For our wedding we wanted to create a “happy” environment to reflect how we felt about the day. We worked with Liz and Danielle, from Gush Events to create a design that fit our vision perfectly. Little details like ribbon wands to wave at our ceremony and our wedding signage, reflected the celebratory feel. Our programs were held down by “wishing stones” that my Grandma had polished from Lake Superior. My mom embroidered cozy fleece blankets with our “wedding logo” from our invitations for guests to use if they were cold. We had a large sign from Etsy designer NarWall Boutique designed spelling out “You Are The Best Thing” which was the title of our first dance and our chair signs were from the same designer said “Avere and Tenere”, to celebrate Lucas’s Italian heritage.

Our ceremony was originally supposed to take place outside. We had nice weather during our first look, during a private picnic where Lucas and I read our vows to each other for the first time privately. Right before the ceremony started it started to rain – really hard. Although the rainy weather during our ceremony wasn’t our original plan it ended up being very fitting for us – our first date ended in rain, our first vacation south was a week of rain and now our wedding in the rain. It makes you really start to like the rain.

The reception was so fun and although we had 180 guests it felt so intimate. Our wedding party and guests sang along to the background music and the speeches were all so genuine and entertaining. We were in awe of the love and support from family and friends, and the incredible work of all our vendor team – Toronto truly has some incredible talent!

Rustic + Romantic Cape May Wedding

Photog phenom Julie Paisley shared that this wedding made her fall in love with photographing weddings all over again…. well Julie, your pics of this rustic, elegant romance made me fall in love with my job all over again. So dual thanks are needed to this adorable couple and Primrose and Company for all their gorgeous floral creations. Let the mutual love affair begin in our VAULT right this way!

From Julie Paisley… Sarah and Justin wanted to focus their day on family and love. Inviting their closest friends, they all dined on farm to table fare under the stars. Sarah is a photographer so details were super important to her and I loved her style. It was simple but very refined and well curated. They kept their wedding party small with Sarah having her sister as Maid of Honor and Justin’s brother as Best Man. Oh and the little flower girl definitely stole the show. Seriously is she not the cutest? I think my favorite parts of the day were the first looks with both dad and Justin. Justin and Sarah were high school sweethearts and there is no denying that they adore each other. Justin even wrote Sarah a song and sang it to her during the reception, and there was not a dry eye in house. This day was magical and made me fall in love with photographing weddings all over again.

Prickly Pear Lemon Bars
prep time
20 Minute/s
cook time
40 Minute/s
total time
1 Hour/s
Serves 32Ingredients
  • Crust Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar, plus extra for dusting
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened but still cool, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • Filling Ingredients
  • 7 large egg yolks
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice (2-3 lemons)
  • 1/3 cup prickly pear syrup
  • 1/4 cup grated lemon zest
  • 1/2 stick unsalted butter, cut into 4 pieces
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
Instructions
  1. Crust Instructions - Adjust an oven rack to the middle position and heat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Line a 9-inch square pan by folding two 16-inch pieces of foil lengthwise to measure 9 inches wide. Fit one sheet on the bottom of the pan, pushing it into the corners and up the sides (overhang will help in removal of baked bars). Fit the second sheet in the pan in the same manner, perpendicular to the first sheet. Spray the sheets with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Process the flour, confectioners’ sugar, and salt in a food processor until combined, 3 seconds. Add the butter and process to blend, 8 to 10 seconds, then process until the mixture is pale yellow and resembles coarse meal, about three 1-second pulses.
  4. Sprinkle the mixture into the prepared pan and press firmly with your fingers into an even layer over the entire pan bottom.
  5. Bake the crust until golden brown, about 20 minutes.
  6. Filling Instructions - While the crust is baking, whisk the yolks and whole eggs together in medium nonreactive saucepan. Add the granulated sugar and whisk until just combined. Add the lemon juice, prickly pear syrup, zest, and salt; whisk until combined.
  7. Add the butter pieces, and cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens slightly and registers 170°F on an instant-read thermometer, about 5 minutes.
  8. Immediately pour the curd through a single-mesh stainless steel strainer set over a clean non-reactive bowl. Stir in the heavy cream; pour the curd into the warm crust immediately.
  9. Bake until the filling is shiny and opaque and the center jiggles slightly when shaken, 10 to 15 minutes.
  10. Let cool completely on a wire rack, about 2 hours, before removing the bars from the pan using the foil and cutting into triangles. Dust with confectioners’ sugar before serving.

Elegant + Glamorous Santa Barbara Wedding

Want to know Blair & Trey’s secret? They hired THE dream team. For these Texas natives called in some big time beauty to make their Bacara Resort & Spa destination wedding the ultimate party. That’s right, they enlisted an all star team: the likes of Michael + Anna Costa PhotographyAlegria By Design and TEAM Hair And Makeup. This is one wedding you won’t want to miss – see it all in THE VAULT!

From the Bride… I always dreamed of getting married on a beach with my toes in the sand. When we got engaged and agreed on a destination wedding, Trey said he really wanted to get married in the mountains! As a compromise, we settled on Santa Barbara – mountains on one side, beach on the other. The first time we visited Bacara Resort & Spa, there was absolutely no question! From the gorgeous Spanish Colonial style throughout the resort, to the stunning view from the bluff where we would get married, it was perfect!

Being in Texas, we hired a coordinator. When I met Armando Martinez with Alegria by Design, I knew we had nothing to worry about. He was able to turn my vision into a reality and referred me to the best of the best vendors in Santa Barbara. Our wedding day was above and beyond our wildest dreams! There was not a single thing we would have changed. One of the great things about a destination wedding is a smaller guest list. We had a very intimate wedding with 65 guests, those nearest and dearest to us.

On August 1 while it was in the 100’s in Texas, it was 70 degrees and sunny in Santa Barbara. We chose to have our ceremony at 5 o’clock in the afternoon so that we had the whole evening ahead of us to party! And party, we did!!! Everyone says that you blink and it’s all over, and that could not be more true. I am so grateful for our photographer, Michael & Anna Costa, and our videographer, C2R Productions, for capturing every minute so that we can always look back and cherish the memories of the greatest day of our lives!

From Tamara Gruner Photography… Shelby & Tyler came all the way from California to have a very intimate elopement in Telluride in Colorado. On the first day they went horseback riding while on the second day they had their family celebration. Congrats to this lovely couple!

Casual + Elegant Seaside Garden Wedding

With a guest list of just 60 people, the focus of this laid-back Canadian wedding was truly the gorgeous Bride and Groom and their love for one another. The couple achieved their vision of an elegant backyard BBQ with fun lawn games, DIY décor and flowers arranged by the Bride and her mother. See all the pretty details from Chelsea Warren Photography in THE VAULT!

From Chelsea Warren Photography…Laura & Scott got married at Laura’s parent’s private residence in Deep Cove on Vancouver Island, BC. They had a small elopement with under 60 guests, lots of DIY decor and gorgeous florals made by the bride and her mother. Their theme was an elegant backyard BBQ with airy and beachy touches. The guests were treated to champagne during the ceremony, as well as lots of garden games during the afternoon reception. We snuck away to a small beach just up the road for some photos of just the bride and groom before the ceremony, then enjoyed the rest of the day in Laura’s parent’s backyard. There was no bridal party, it was a very relaxed day. The bride and groom saw each other before the ceremony and spent lots of time together; they really enjoyed each other’s company the entire day and it was so sweet to see! Their love for each other was certainly the focus!

Cozy + Sweet Engagement Session in Columbus, Ohio

Kathleen & Kyle just get me. Why? Uhm, probably because their engagement session from the lens of Henry Photography was primarily focused on two very important things: donuts and wine. Add in a splash of their seriously sweet love and you’ve got yourself a gallery that is as adorable as a basket full of puppies. See it all in THE VAULT!

From Henry PhotographyKathleen & Kyle live in the most adorable part of Columbus, German Village. Surrounded by brick roads, swanky restaurants, a fabulous park and lots of gorgeous homes. When they told me they wanted a cozy engagement session with some of their favorites in the park, I was so excited. Kathleen gave me some serious hair envy and wore the most adorable kate spade boots while Kyle had on plaid and brought his favorite donuts. Cheese, wine and donuts in the park was exactly what this couple loves. We walked around their neighborhood at all their favorite spots and we chased the sun until it was setting. Capturing their joy and laughter was more of a gift to me, they were completely smitten with eachother.

Romantic + Moody Princess-Inspired Editorial

Combining rustic, earthy elements with moody romantic touches, this inspiration photo shoot from Bethany Snyder Photography is a modern day fairytale. From Meant To Be Calligraphy‘s gorgeous emerald green word art to Top Knot Studio‘s romantic hairstyles complete with gorgeous tiaras, every detail in this editorial is fit for a princess. See it all in THE VAULT!

From Bethany Snyder PhotographyWe all love a good story, especially when it ends with a white dress. Unlike most love stories, this one focuses on the love and honor for ourselves rather than the romance of another. This princess bride grew up on a beautiful estate surrounded by jewels and pretty things. In the midst of all she once knew and loved, there began an unfamiliar call within. It beckoned her to discover something deeper, something untamed. From there she followed the soft whispers that led her into the uncharted territories of her heart. The more she pursued them the more she found herself woven and spun in a harmony of elegance and wild abandon. She let down her hair and let the rain fall on her face. With bare feet she walked the wet ground and embraced the wind as it caught her dress as in a wild and natural dance. There she found a love more palpable than flesh and bone. There she met her true self.

We wanted to tell the story of this bride’s journey in the photos by uniting glamorous, sparkling details with natural earthy accents. We chose wild greenery and flowing fabrics that catch the wind, as if by magic, to symbolize her discovery. Beautiful emerald greens and soft grays were intertwined with all the details to mimic the earthy accents, and dark purple and gold to symbolize her royal background.

Some of the little details we hope you notice are the two different dresses sewn by personally by Greta, the DIY earth box holding the vintage gold ring, the little vines imprinted on the semi-naked caked wrapped in wild greenery, the gorgeous handwritten calligraphy written in emerald ink, the several crowns and tiaras used in her hair, the soft vintage ribbons adorning many of the detail shots, the perfect combination of wild and elegant greens for the bouquet/centerpiece, the brilliant change of hair styles through out the session and some of the old antique items (such as the books and photograph) to symbolize her past self.

These photos were shot with a hybrid of both medium format film on a Contax 645 and digital.

Magical Moroccan Wedding Under the Stars

This is a kick-your-shoes-off kind of wedding. A let-the-beauty-that-surrounds-you-be-your-decor kind of wedding. And these two embraced every palm tree scene that surrounded them. It’s the kind of wedding we love seeing from Lifestories Wedding—totally real, authentic and fully embracing the love. See more in THE VAULT.

From The Bride…After 10 years together and a little baby, a wedding was definitely the next step. We talked about it millions of times, and we really wanted it to look like us, on every level: gatherings of friends and family together, taking place in a magical place, warm weather, eating good food and partying. It should be possible in France, but the venues have so many restrictions: no dinner outside, with plastic marquise tent, and budget-wise nothing was really fitting.

My step-brother got an awesome opportunity to split the event in 2, one in Paris mostly family-oriented and slightly large and a much more intimate one, friends-orientated and overseas!

Neither Clovis nor I got any foreign specific background, so everything was possible, we just wanted our friends to come without spending all their savings. We quickly decided that Morocco would be the best place: close from France, amazing architecture and foods, and beautiful weather in Spring!

I eventually found Dar-el-Hossun through a social network, and just loved it at first sight. I was really nervous at the beginning that the owner would not accept to fully make the place private and let us organize a wedding. They have never done it before but after few emails and discussion, they totally embraced our project. Olivier at Dar-El-Hossun quickly drew a schedule and a budget, he’s been amazing all along the process.

A Few months later, I went there with a few friends and checked that everything was on track for the 15th of May! Then we went there a few days before everyone with Clovis and our baby boy Auguste, to fine tune the last details. We felt like home right away same as our guests did, the team is so welcoming, it really felt like you’re in your family house for the summer.

The big day was organized outside of the lodge in a stunning Palm Trees field. A special setting was organized for the wedding: ceremony, cocktail and dinner area in the middle of the nature. The ceremony that Clovis’s Brother hosted just had a few readings by close friends, it was so sweet. Dinner-wise, there was an outside kitchen run by locals, hosted under a berbers tent and the stars, and later on we came back to the lodge for the party. It was perfect.

Seriously everything was perfect, I can’t think of one thing that bothered me, but I guess with the great help of Olivier to put everything together, it was much easier. And I mean the fact that it was over few days, it really gives you time to enjoy your guests and spend time with them, I will cherish all those moments all my life, and I’m so glad we choose Yann from Lifestories Wedding Photography, he’s been fabulous and also he just picture perfectly what was the wedding, he made life memories for us!

Vibrant Coastal Maine Wedding in Sunset Hues

To say I’m obsessed with this couple’s style would be a huge understatement because this Bride’s gorgeous casual, yet effortlessly elegant gown and her Groom’s preppy bowtie and Nantucket red pants are perfectly suited for this beautiful seaside Maine wedding. With lovely stationery from Printerette Press, a tented reception lit up by The Event Light Pros and gorgeous flowers throughout, this wedding is full of beauty and love. See it all from Meredith Perdue in THE VAULT!

From Daisies & Pearls Hope and Alex’s wedding day was eleven years in the making. Their love story began while attending boarding school in Connecticut. Alex never thought the first girl he met at his new school would be the girl he would spend the rest of his life with. The couple decided to share the magic of Prouts Neck, Maine with family and friends. This is where Hope spent her summers, sailing and beach combing. Hope and Alex were married in a summer chapel right across from Winslow Homer’s historic art studio and made their getaway around the Neck in a vintage Mercedes convertible. With a color palette inspired by a September sunset, guests enjoyed a farm to table menu followed by an epic dance party.

Elegant Chicago Wedding with an Amazing Donut Wall

First things first – this custom Lazaro dress? It’s everything. Fit for a modern day princess, it’s the kind of dress makes a bride truly feel like a BRIDE, but it’s also only the beginning. Because this wedding is chock-full of awesome details, including a donut wall – that’s right, an actual wall of donuts – that we guarantee would be a hit with any guests. Hop to the gallery from Britta Marie for more!

From Britta Marie… Every year I have weddings that stick out as my favorites. It’s a combination of a million things that come together to create this perfect day. Andrea and Cameron’s wedding is definitely at the top of my list for the 2015 season. The bride and groom are two of the sweetest most gracious people I have ever had the privilege of working with. There was such joy shining through their smiles the entire day – and every once in a while I would catch Cameron giving Andrea a look that was filled with SO MUCH LOVE.

The team of vendors that worked on this day could not have been better. Galleria Marchetti is a fantastic family run venue that offers something very unique – a tent setting in the middle of Chicago. Not only is the space versitile, but the staff is the most organized I have ever seen. Usually on a wedding day you expect there to be a little bit of a delay, but of the three times I have shot at this venue, the reception has stayed exactly according to plan, which is a miracle!

The next stand out was the ladies at Big City Bridal. Claire and her team were there to make sure Andrea and Cameron were taken care of, but also looked after the needs of all of the other vendors. They made the day so stress free and FUN, and you could tell how much Andrea and Cameron LOVED working with this talented group of ladies.

The florals were masterfully created by K LA Designs – I could seriously stare at the gorgeous center pieces (with GOLD FRUIT!) all day long. And the DJ managed to combine the couple’s unique music taste to create a playlist that had guests dancing all night long.

Southwest-Inspired Baby Shower

This mama-to-be first dazzled me when we featured her modern home tour last month, complete with Southwest-inspired nursery touches from her baby shower. (How beautiful is she?!) And today, we get a look at that shower in all it’s cuteness. Complete with dreamcatchers and the sweetest air plant cake, all inspired by their Greatest Adventure. See the rest from Amy and Jordan Photography in THE VAULT.

From Outstanding OccasionsBeing a wedding planner, designing events is an every day task, but when thinking about my own baby shower design, it was a struggle. I wanted a day that celebrated the little boy I was carrying, but also exemplified being a woman with girly touches as well as my own personal modern aesthetic.

After hours of inspiration searching, we landed on a design that was soft and bohemian with a touch of modern, that also celebrated what was to come, Our Greatest Adventure. The color palette of mint, gray, black and white were inspired by our home nursery design, and were accented with pastel tones and rich pinks to truly bring the celebration to life. Tamara with Petal Pusher truly took the overall theme and brought it to life.

Guests were first greeted with a custom made escort card display featuring a beautiful cactus garden from Petal Pusher, and playful arrow cards designed by Idieh design. To play towards the adventure theme, guests were asked to sign a painted globe with their well wishes, that would later be placed in the baby’s nursery.

For brunch, each table was set with alternating linens from La Tavola Fine Linen in Wavering, and were finished with clean and modern ghost chairs. The tables were enhanced with beautiful bright florals, gold terrariums and hand painted blocks all created by Petal Pusher. Each guests setting included leather hand tied napkins, custom menus with a pastel arrow design, and custom teepee cookie favors by Ruze Cake House. To set the host and mama-to-be’s tables a part, Petal Pusher created hand painted table runners to set across beautiful rich wooden tables.

The beautiful views at Omni Scottsdale at Montelucia were enhanced with a gift opening vignette featuring a white modern couch, colorful pillows, hand made dream catchers, and a baby teepee design by Inspired Environments. Guests were invited to nosh on a custom dessert bar created by Ruze Cake House, as they watched each gift be delicately unwrapped.

From the gorgeous Camelback Mountain backdrop, to the mix of textures and pastel and bold colors, the southwest bohemian vibe truly came to life to create the perfect celebration for baby Asher.

Romantic Garden-Inspired Blue Hill at Stone Barns Wedding

I dare you not to fall in love with each and every detail of this upstate New York wedding. And how could you not with vendors like Daughter Of DesignBella FiguraJenny YooOnce Upon A BrideStacie Ford Weddings and Jarrell Entertainment. Head to THE VAULT to see all the pretty details (that Monique Lhuillier gown for one) captured by Christian Oth Studio, and don’t say we didn’t warn you!

From The Bride…We got engaged at sunset on a beautiful evening in Bagan, Myanmar, the ancient temple city. The engagement was a destination, and as we were initially discussing potential wedding locations, so at first I thought the wedding would be as well. What we soon realized, though, was that the logistics of a destination wedding would be challenging for too many of our nearest and dearest. So we decided to search for something that felt like the European countryside, but happened to be on the northeast corridor line. We were fortunate enough to get the last summer date available at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Even when we went to visit the venue on a wet, chilly day in the dead of winter, we fell in love with the location. My mother grew up on a chicken farm, so having the wedding take place on a working farm had special meaning to us. Our goal: to have a fun, casual yet elegant wedding with great food, great music, and great people, and we thought this venue would be the prefect perfect setting.

The day before the wedding, we went with our close family and wedding party for a tour of Blue Hill farm. We learned about the sustainable practices of the farm which gave us and our guests a special opportunity to really get to know the farm, the mission, and have further appreciation for the food we would be eating the day after. One part was especially meaningful: Justin helped arrange a gift that would go towards a 2016 Oak Tree planting in the memory of my father, and part of the tour included seeing where the tree would soon be planted. It was quite meaningful that Blue Hill was able to let us honor him and have him be part of our special event.

Rather than use our names or initials, we had the talented team at Bella Figura design a “goose/swan” logo for the wedding (representing our avian nicknames for each other). We used this logo on the invitation and throughout the wedding, on everything from the yarmulkes to the napkins. I’ve always loved to draw, so thought it would be fun to design the escort cards. Justin and I brainstormed and decided that rather than use table numbers, everyone would be assigned an herb, and a spring of that particular herb would be found at each table setting. We also wanted the flexibility of adjusting last- minute table assignments, so we included drawings of all the herbs on each escort card, and the Daughter of Design team waited until the day prior to circle the appropriate herb for each guest.

My dress was a Monique Lhuillier, and I thought it fit me and the venue to a tee. It was a combination of vintage classic with some modern touches.

As a pre-wedding gift for Justin, I got him a pair of cufflinks from Etsy – one with a goose and one with a swan –, made of vintage stamps. He got me an eternity band that I’d been was eyeing (but wasn’t expecting to receive for some time). I chose a gray Jenny Yoo gown for the bridesmaids – the color was flattering on all of the ladies, and each one was styled to flatter her figure. I also got each bridesmaid matching Eberjey PJ sets. I was inspired by another Blue Hill bride who had suggested them. It was fun to wear the matching sets for the sleepover the night before the wedding, and also proved an easy way to stay comfy through all the morning-of wedding prep.

For the aesthetic design, we worked with the talented Matthew Robbins. We chose a palette of lots of greens with peach, white, and pops of bright pink. We also wanted to play off the stone barns so we used hurricane lanterns. We wanted a “market table” feel for the escort card table, and leading up to the main hall were rows of live rosemary and lavender, which smelled rich and delicious, creating a subtle experience as guests walked through. Matthew also incorporated each table’s particular herb into the table’s décor.

We were very fortunate with the weather and were able to have the ceremony outdoors under a large tree in the Blue Hill courtyard. Matthew and his team designed a beautiful leafy huppah with beautiful pops of flowers. The birds were chirping as we were under the huppah – it felt magical. The cocktail reception took place in the nearby apple menagerie were guests drank signature cocktails and nibbled on delicious passed hors d’oeuvres. To our knowledge, the snacks were so good that nobody felt tempted to pluck a ripe apple off the trees surrounding us.

Music was a very important component of the wedding for the two of us. We had a talented flutist/violin duet from Julliard for our ceremony and reception. Our band, Sound House, was incredible and had all the guests on the dance floor. Justin grew up playing music with his “family band” and we thought it would be fun to incorporate that into the wedding. As the family band started playing some classic rock, Justin interrupted the song to announce that they “needed more cow bell.” Fortunately, I had one hidden under my seat! I got up from my seat (cowbell in hand) and joined the family band for a few classic rock songs, and it its own right was my full initiation into the family.

Food and drink were also important to us. We only finalized our menu two weeks prior to the event, because it is so seasonal and dependent on what would be fresh from the farm. We had a four- course tasting menu with wine pairings for our guests and there were no leftovers in sight! It was delicious – quite a few of our guests told us it was one of the best meals they have ever had.

After we cut the cake (a delicious seasonal cake with blueberry, peach and vanilla), guests kept the party going downstairs with DJ Stephen. Guests nibbled on more small bites and partied on the dance floor. At that time I changed from my wedding gown to a white sequined J Crew Wedding Romper.

As a farewell treat, guests received jars of Blue Hill’s very own honey, thanking them for being part of the “sweetest day of our lives.” We hosted brunch the next morning at the historic Tarrytown House and Estate. It was a lovely sendoff to a perfect weekend.

Backyard

From The Bride… As a wedding coordinator and baker I am surrounded by every style and type of wedding out there. With my own wedding I really wanted it to feel magical and pull my guests into the atmosphere. We went for a backyard greenhouse feel with lots of florals, greenery and soft fabrics. We added dark cranberry, green, plaid, and furs to the golds and light blush color pallet. Since the groom is from Texas. and my family is in the farming and ranching industry, we wanted to include the rustic dessert display and cattle skull adorned with florals.

As a baker I wanted to make my own wedding cake and desserts. It was so fun to be able to actually make something to share with my guests and give it a personal touch. I made a vanilla semi-naked cake which my floral adorned with fresh flowers. I also made a variety of mini desserts that were displayed on an old ladder with shelves that the groom and his mother made, which made my vision come to life. We had so many different family members helping it made the experience so amazing. My sister was the photographer, my mother created the appetizer cheese boards, the groom’s mother built the bar and dessert display and my new sister in law did all the writing on the large chalkboard; it was a team effort!

The entire day was a dream come true, not only because of the beauty, but the love and new family that came along with it. Jordan was the missing piece to my son and my little family. We not only joined together in marriage but completed our family and gained a husband and father. As I walked down the isle and saw my soon to be husband holding my son, and looked into both their eyes I knew my life was changing forever and heart had never been so full. Our wedding day was the perfect beginning to a new journey!

From Daphne MaeThis wedding was really significant for me, because I was not only the photographer, but the bride’s sister and matron of honor. With Natalie (the bride) being an event coordinator and dessert baker/stylist, we’ve loved working together on other weddings and styled shoots in the past, and couldn’t wait for the day we got to completely do what we’ve always dreamed of and work together on her wedding.

The day was perfect in every way. The sun was shining and the breeze was just enough to create movement in the bride’s gorgeous Sarah Seven gown. The bouquets were wild and organic with touches of cranberry and cream. The inside of the clear reception tent was draped with sheer cream fabric, while enormous swagged garlands of seeded eucalyptus created a grand entrance. Seeded eucalyptus chandeliers hung from the ceiling of the tent, and another garland sat atop the long wooden head table. With all of the garlands, greenery covered chandeliers, and urns and vases over flowing with lush greens, whites, cranberries and blushes saturating every table top, the entire reception space was transformed into a greenhouse like environment of organic romance.

Tall tapered candles along with mercury glass votives flickered throughout the evening. Guests enjoyed a truly delicious array of desserts baked by the bride, as well as a gorgeous make cake, also created by the bride from start to finish.

I also loved that all of the maids chose their own dresses. It was an ethereal mix of sparkle and softness. The groomsmen were dapper and perfectly understated in tweed vests and plaid shirts and ties.

The bride was particularly stunning. Not simply in the way she looked, but in the bright joy that shone through her that day. She had a hand in every single detail of this weekend down to the napkins, and her style was so evident throughout every element of the day. She not only got to marry the man of her dreams, but the man who is now the father of her one year old son. It was such a special day to be a part of and to be able to photograph.

Vintage Chic Lace + Cherry Blossom Wedding Inspiration

Get ready dear readers because we’re about to bring a dose of sunshine to your screen. Thanks to the talented hands of Wanaka Wedding Flowers paired with the talented lens of Fluidphoto this is one inspiration you’re going to want to pin PRONTO! From the fab floral crown, to the something blue seating, we’ve got it all waiting in THE VAULT!

From Blossom and Lace was inspired by all the cherry blossom in spring as it creates a romantic theme and works well with a lace dress and feathers. We wanted to incorporate some vintage ware and Shirley from Wanaka Wedding Flowers styled the shoot in her own garden under 25 cherry trees that line the drive as well as using items from her large range of hire props. Just like with a real wedding, some special props were used. One prop was an Ostrich feather cape which Shirley’s father brought back from South Africa in 1949 when he played rugby there with the New Zealand All Blacks. Pri from Ican models had the look in that gorgeous gown by Essense of Australia , enhanced by Janine our make up artist and Sally, the hair stylist, to create something exotic while Ruth, from Fluidphoto, captured it all.

Downtown L.A. Wedding with Rooftop Views

Simple, clean, modern, and fun. That’s the vibe these two Los Angles lovies were going for, and we say “mission accomplished.” They chose the AT&T Center as their venue, and the rooftop views (including their first look on a helipad!) perfectly set the scene. Ruth Eileen came along to photograph, and we’ll just make ourselves at home right here in The Vault.

Modern

From The Bride & Groom…Downtown Los Angeles was always a meaningful place for us. It was where we first met, where we spent many of our dates, and where we ultimately fell in love. Naturally, it was a no-brainer to have our wedding here as well, since this city was such a big part of our lives. We wanted a venue that was simple, clean, modern, and fun. We also wanted the venue to somehow highlight the beauty of the city. So when we found the AT&T Center in Downtown Los Angeles with its amazing views of the city skyline, we instantly knew it was the venue of our dreams.

Our favorite moment of the wedding had to be the first look on the helipad. The weather was perfect, and to be together on the roof overlooking the beautiful city was priceless. Before the wedding, a friend told us to remind each other to take mental snapshots of the wedding throughout the night since it all goes by so fast. Being on the helipad and taking in the view together was definitely was one of those fantastic moments we will keep in our memories forever.

Celebrating with our beloved family and friends in such a meaningful city fulfilled our hopes of having a fun, contemporary, and laid-back wedding. We truly felt at home and were able to sit back, relax, and let the good times roll. We had a blast and cannot thank everyone who was involved enough for being a part of the best day ever.
