Southern Garden Soirée in Seaside, Florida

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]White, Pink, Lavender, Yellow, Orange, Light Blue
Accented with rattan chargers, bamboo chairs and napkin rings.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Classic and timeless meets garden-party set on a coastal landscape. The design of Olivia and Ross’ stunning Seaside wedding was the perfect combination of southern garden romance with a splash of spring color. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]On a trip to Paris, we were walking along the Seine River on the way to lunch and Ross stopped and got down on one knee. It was secluded enough to be a special and private moment between the two of us. We walked around Paris for the rest of the day, taking pictures and enjoying the city together! Paris is my favorite city in the world and was the perfect place to celebrate our engagement. I knew I wanted to get married in Seaside, FL. My family goes to 30A during the summer, and we have such happy memories there. It meant so much to have all our friends and family come from out of state and celebrate the start of our marriage in such a special place. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]I purchased my Suzanne Neville gown at Blue Bridal Boutique in Austin, TX. I found the designer several years ago on Pinterest and fell in love with her romantic and timeless design, especially the floral applique details. I wanted a timeless silhouette with a touch of embellishment, and the floral applique was perfect! [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]I gave my bridesmaids some general guidelines, like “pastel” and “floral,” but the rest was up to them. It was so fun to give the final approval on their choices. I didn’t want traditional bridesmaid’s dresses and thought it would be more fun for my friends to choose something they feel good in and would wear again! [/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Ross wore a black tux with white dinner jacket from Jos. A. Banks. The white dinner jacket was perfect for a Springtime wedding at the beach. [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]We wanted to incorporate as much seafood as possible since we were on the coast! Bud & Alley’s served mini crab cakes during the Cocktail Hour and one of the entree choices was Pan-Seared Gulf Red Snapper, which is always a treat when it’s available!

Our signature drink was called a “Georgie-rita” named after our Golden Retriever, George. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]I asked my planner, Ashley, and florist to draw our color scheme from “seaglass.” I wanted the design to be coastal and classic, but not too beachy. I incorporated a lot of the rattan from our home (chargers and napkin rings) and bamboo chairs to give texture to the overall design. Our florist knocked it out of the park with the flower arch at the Seaside Chapel. It was lush and overflowing with greenery and fresh flowers. Our couple photos in front of the Seaside Chapel with that beautiful arch, are easily our most favorite photos from the photographer’s gallery. We loved the colorful tabletop flowers, too! The florist created beautiful arrangements with pink and orange flowers that ended up being such bright and colorful additions. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]We decided on a classic buttercream, 3-tier wedding cake with non-traditional flavors. Ross chose fun-fetti for one of the layers. It’s his favorite and he always requests it for his birthday! I chose my favorite flavor, Strawberry. The cake slice colors were perfect because they matched our whole design, and guests loved the unexpected flavors. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]We included our dog, George, where we could. We got him when we first started dating and have raised him together. We named the signature drink after him, had the cutest stir sticks with his picture, the bar sign featured him, and of course, we had a George figurine taking a bite out of the cake!

He was so fun to have around while we were getting ready, as if he knew that it was a big day for us! He even forced himself onto the bus with me on the way to the First Look! He is such a big part of our lives and I couldn’t imagine the day without him.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]I worked with a designer, @chloedesignsthings, on the day-of signage. She made the escort cards, place setting cards, and welcome sign. We incorporated the scalloped edge on a lot of the signage, which reminded me of waves. We used seashells to hold the name cards at each place setting. I also used a coastal-inspired coffee table book, “Escape” by Gray Malin, as our guest book. It’s such a beautiful book to display in our home, with special messages from the day. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]We had a blast on our getaway Beach Buggy! We rented a white Moke for the grand exit, and hung a Just Married sign on the back. The no-mess confetti exit made the best photos at the end of the night. We loved our wedding experience from start to finish- it was perfect. [/field]

Modern Black And White Summer Wedding With Lush Pops Of Green

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

As high school teenagers, Tasha Maltman & Chandler Stephenson met over a lost binder. Although they didn’t start officially dating until graduation, they had known each other for quite some time, growing up in a rather small town in western Canada. Engaged in December of 2020 after nearly eight years of dating, the couple talked about how they wanted to get married on a shorter timeline and in the town where they vacation during the summer, Waskesiu Lake at Elk Ridge Resort. Due to strict Covid restrictions, their 2021 date came and went. The journey to the aisle continued with news that Tasha & Chandler were expecting just three short months prior to their 2022 wedding date. Their sweet son, Ford, was born on May 22, 2022. The precious addition to their family led to yet another wedding date change so they could officially enjoy and relish in each celebratory life moment separately and fully. Just when you think all of life’s greatest moments arrived to them fast & quick, in May of 2023 – only weeks before the wedding, Chandler wins the Stanley Cup with the Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey team. With so much love & patience, on July 8, 2023 – their final wedding date arrived. Tasha & Chandler’s wedding brought family and friends from all over the world to their sweet, quaint Canadian lake town, where they were able to showcase what they love so much about their summer spot.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The design of the wedding really allowed for the surrounding space to shine. Tasha & Chandler both grew up visiting Elk Ridge Resort & its surrounding area, so they wanted to be sure that the guests were able to get the full experience. The ceremony was located on the golf course, where the couple and their guests were surrounded by lush grass and tall trees for a completely private location. They chose natural greens and whites to accent the already beautiful and luscious space. While the venue itself is very rustic and mountain-like, Tasha and Chandler’s personal style has a modern flair to it. We incorporated hints of black into the cocktail hour & reception design while also mixing in some natural wood tones to stay true to the surroundings. The reception tent was lined with dozens of candles, creating a beautiful grand entrance for the couple & their guests. A lush arch of baby breath & roses marked the entrance with a neon sign reading “Forever & Always,” as that is a phrase that Tasha & Chandler say to each other often throughout their decade-long relationship. The clear-top tent was centered by a black & white dance floor to give it a touch of modern flair, and each table wore a classic, crisp white linen surrounded by black chairs. As the sun started to go down, the twinkling lights above stole the show as guests danced the night away under the stars.

All food was delectably chosen as a delicacy to the surrounding area and to compliment the summer season. A fresh seasonal greens salad was served as the first course with candied pecans, goat cheese, and pumpkin seeds. The guests chose between a roasted chicken, beef tenderloin, or walleye fish for their entree. The walleye is a freshwater fish native to most of Canada. The Stephenson’s Signature Cocktails included a Moscow Mule & Stevie’s Margarita with just a hint of spice.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”][/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Tasha and Chandler wanted to do a small cake for the tradition of the cake cutting, but in lieu of serving guests cake, they wanted to incorporate many well-known Canadian desserts, like towers of Timbits from Tim Hortons, chocolate glazed donuts from Nutana Bakery, and a candy station, as they both share a love of sours and sweets.

A Classic Coastal Aesthetic Inspired by the Couple’s Love for Cape Cod

[section title=”The Planning”]

beauty of Cape Cod. It was important to the couple to have bright bold colors to represent happiness and their love for one another.[/field]

coastal aesthetic with a colorful twist to showcase their fun-loving personalities and create an inviting and warm evening for their family and friends. Wychmere Beach Club was the perfect setting, with the timeless elegance of the Harbor Room alongside the stunning views of Wychmere Harbor. Signage by Pink Polka Dot, along with different textures and whimsical florals, created timeless coastal touches.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Both Josh and Gina have a mutual love for Cape Cod, as Josh grew up in Falmouth and
Gina’s family has a summer home in Brewster. In August 2021, Josh planned a date night watching the sunset with a bottle of wine and pizza at Gina’s favorite beach. Barcelona Destination Wedding in an Enchanting Villa Designed by Antoni Gaudí’s Right-Hand Architect

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were magenta, pinks, and creams.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Kathy and Dan got married on a summer day in La Baronia, an Art Nouveau-style mansion surrounded by the lavish nature of Catalunya, designed by Joan Rubio, the righthand architect of Antoni Gaudí’. Kathy and Dan had always dreamt of having a destination wedding due to their diverse backgrounds and love for travel. With Dan coming from Israel and Kathy’s extended family in Taiwan, they wanted a location that would bring everyone together. Living in Tokyo and being avid travelers themselves, they sought to infuse a sense of adventure into their wedding day. Barcelona held a special place in Dan’s heart as he had spent significant time there during his upbringing, and it was a cherished spot for his late father. Therefore, it was the perfect choice for them to celebrate their love and honor the memory of Dan’s father in this significant and meaningful setting.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Their story began over a glass of wine and an old-fashioned at Harper and Rye in San Francisco, in February 2020. It didn’t take a second drink to know that suddenly life was better, together.

They fell in love over dueling pianos late nights at the Exploratorium, and wine tasting in Napa, and slurping oysters in Bodega Bay. They discovered they loved sleeping in a van in the forests of Montana as much as nights at the Ritz Carlton, dressing up for a night out as much as cooking over a fire.

Dan proposed on their trip to Israel at the Beresheet Hotel, the most romantic sunset overlooking the crater and then they embarked on a two-week mini-engagment moon through the country.[/field]

Kathy chose her dress at Kleinfelds in NYC as an homage to their time spent living in the big city for a year before they embarked on their travels to Tokyo where they live now. The Pronovias wedding dress is romantic and detailed in subtle ways- which felt like a good match to our venue, La Baronia.

3 Tips for Planning a Wedding Your Guests Will Truly Enjoy Attending

While my clients are my source of inspiration and my priority, and I look to each of my couples to make their wedding day a reflection of their love story, their styles and personalities, and the things they treasure the most, I’m also very mindful of how the experience feels from the guest’s perspective when planning a wedding. I’m all about hospitality, so that’s second nature to me, but I know that some people plan their wedding without much consideration for their guest’s experience, not because they mean to, but because it’s hard sometimes to put ourselves on the other side of things. We’ve all heard “it’s your day, do whatever you want”, “it’s all about you”, but really it isn’t so simple if you actually want to host a wedding your guests will enjoy attending.

Now, don’t get me wrong, it all starts with the two of you. Your wedding is the celebration of one of the biggest milestones in your lives and should be approached as such. It is about the two of you first, after all, it is your love story you’re celebrating! But creating an extraordinary experience for the people who took the time to come celebrate with you is just as important. This experience must be carefully curated and thought through.

Here are some tips on how to be mindful of your guest’s experience from the start, which in turn will make your wedding day one that your guests will love attending and will remember fondly for years to come.

Make sure your guests will be comfortable at your outdoor ceremony

This is so simple, yet often gets overlooked when the focus is solely on aesthetics. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a designer, I’m all about aesthetics, but I believe even the most beautiful view and the most exceptional design elements combined will fall flat if people are too uncomfortable to appreciate it.

If it’s a hot day and you’re hosting your ceremony outdoors, provide shade in the ceremony area, if possible, either by setting up the ceremony under a nice tree canopy or by having it under a tent or existing structure. Make sure water and, if needed, bug spray is available for your guests upon arrival. You can also place small fans on each chair – these can also add a lovely design touch if done right.

If it’s a cold day and you’re outdoors, provide cozy blankets and if necessary, have heaters placed near the seating area. While feeling cold in a suit or formal gown is a lot less uncomfortable for a guest than being too hot in the same attire, it is still uncomfortable. You want guests to feel comfortable and excited while they anticipate the events of the evening.

Provide comfortable seating at your reception

Be thoughtful about the chairs you choose for the reception, not only because they’re important to help convey the design style, but also because they should be comfortable. Some chairs may be beautiful but prove incredibly uncomfortable to sit on for long periods of time. The dining experience is a big part of the evening, but if guests are sitting uncomfortably while they eat, they likely won’t enjoy it as much. If fully cushioned chairs do not fit in the budget, it’s okay! You can still choose a chair within the budget that is comfortable to sit on.

As a bonus, provide lounge areas throughout the space if possible so guests can mingle in a more relaxed setting before and after dinner. Some people may worry that lounge areas will keep guests from hitting the dance floor, but I don’t find this to be true. People either like to dance or they don’t, and people who like dancing will not miss the chance to dance with everyone in lieu of sitting down.

Jacqui Cole Photography

Have a solid timeline and avoid delays

Even the best timelines may run into small delays sometimes, and that’s normal, but having long delays that make your guests feel like their time is not being appreciated does not set the right mood. Even if you’re normally a fashionably late person, aim to walk down the aisle on time, especially if guests have been sitting outdoors. A delay of 10 or 15 minutes is understandable if something arises, but a much longer delay will have at least some of your guests restless and likely to start dispersing, causing even longer delays to the overall wedding timeline. Being on time with the events leading up to the reception will allow you to enjoy the reception without feeling rushed or incurring extra fees. Keeping a good timeline is good for everyone, but especially appreciated by your guests.

In the end, people will always remember how they felt in any particular situation, that’s just how we work. It’s not about creating over-the-top experiences necessarily, but about being thoughtful. So keep good hospitality in mind as you plan your wedding and you’re sure to guarantee that your guests will have an amazing time and leave with fond memories of your wedding day.

Elegant & Classic St. Louis Wedding Day With Incredible DIY Details

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Sara and Sam chose a classic black and white color scheme for their formal affair, with gold accents! Their wedding party wore black, while Sara used white and gold for their decor! For their stationary and signage (which she designed and DIYed herself!), she chose white with elegant gold calligraphy. They used the ballroom at the Missouri Athletic Club for both their ceremony and reception! The space has darker accent colors, so the white tablecloths and modern gold touches really stood out and created a beautiful contrast!

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

From the bride… “We wanted our wedding to stand the test of time and to never go out of style. The feeling you get when you look at your parents or grandparents’ wedding album is how we wanted it to feel looking through ours. Almost an old charm & nostalgic feel would be the best way to describe it. Design-wise, I am *obsessed* with the royals and wanted it also to feel very regal and grand. So, having the personalizations from the drink toppers pre-ceremony, to the runner and newspapers during the ceremony, to all of the kids walking down the aisle, to the personalized menus… we wanted everyone to feel that they were important on our day too.” Sara made sure the design was cohesive throughout their entire day! Their wedding monogram made every detail feel thoughtful and intentional. So many elements were customized for each guest, which was so special! Sara and Sam went above and beyond to make sure every guest felt welcomed and appreciated in their celebration. A moment Sara had envisioned was Sam seeing her for the first time, walking down the aisle! However, they also loved the idea of a first look – seeing each other in a more intimate setting and being able to spend more of the day together! So, that morning, Sam waited at the alter and turned around to see Sara for the first time walking down the aisle – just the two of them. This was such a sweet moment! We then captured photos of them in the ballroom with their wedding party! Sara had envisioned formal, seated portraits, which turned out beautifully in front of the mirrored backdrop at the MAC. We then went to the St Louis Central Library for more informal, candid portraits! The library has such beautiful architecture that it feels cohesive with its beautiful, historic wedding venue. While the library has historic architecture, it also has a more modern feel with the St. Louis city skyline in the background.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

“Sam’s family has been taking annual summer vacations to Grand Haven, Michigan since his mother was little. It was a very serious thing to be invited on the family trip so when I got the invite one year in – I was ecstatic. We went and we both felt like that was truly a turning point in our relationship. Spending a week with such a large family can be intimidating but I loved every second of it and it gave us that glimpse of what our future would look like together. Another year later, on our trip to Grand Haven… we went to dinner with Sam’s twin brother and his wife. While this dinner was happening, our families were setting to the proposal site on the beach. Little did I know, my mom drove 7 hours!! And I had no idea. We all decided to walk to the lighthouse after dinner until we reached an umbrella with a blanket covered in flowers with champagne and his aunt hiding behind a sign taking photos (lol!) It was also on the “family spot” on the beach where we always go during the day. He asked me to marry him in the most special place ever and then our families came down to the beach and his sister threw us a big family celebratory party after! It was the surprise of a lifetime and we love that we get to revisit that spot every year and relive the memories.”

“This is funny. I envisioned tulle and large fabrics. Basically, I wanted the most outrageous and largest dress. We had set an appointment with my matron of honor, mom, mother-in-law and sister-in-law the following day at a few boutiques. But, the night before my mom and I grabbed a cocktail and there was a new-ish dress boutique, so we stopped in and they allowed me to try on a few dresses. I loved everything I tried on but my mom said the dresses were swallowing me and weren’t “my style”. I was a bit annoyed of course because I envisioned it this whole time… but my mom grabbed a dress and said “JUST TRY IT ON!!!” It was a tight, mermaid-style dress with a bustier top and puff sleeves (I always wear puff sleeves). When I tell you, getting me to take this dress off was nearly impossible. So technically my mom picked out my dress and I would have never tried it on if it weren’t for her. Trying on dresses the next day, nothing compared so I brought my mother and sister-in-law back to the store before I officially said ‘yes!’.”

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]“We originally chose a mauve color but the room had a lot of reds, purples, and golds. So, we went with black! They all picked their own dresses. A lot of them were actually vintage found here in St. Louis and in Arizona. My bridesmaids are all so incredibly different women, I wanted them to choose something that spoke to them and made them feel really good.”[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The groomsmen wore classic black tuxes! Sam’s dress shirt included a custom embroidered monogram, which cute enough, is now Sara’s monogram as well! He also had gold monogrammed cuff links. Sam gifted each groomsmen a golf ball with their photos on it which was a fun moment while they were getting ready![/field]

“Being an evening wedding and in the winter with it getting darker earlier, we had champagne passed pre-ceremony. We wanted it to feel “adults only” even though there were a lot of kids. For our cocktail hour, we had an STL favorite – toasted ravioli. We also had spanakopita and Beef Wellington. For dinner, we served filet mignon with garlic butter, green beans and whipped potatoes. Our wedding cake was white cake with raspberry filling. Our venue handled our food and beverage and knocked it out of the park. We are still getting compliments on our food! A++”

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

“The first thing I bought when we were engaged was the custom aisle runner. We didn’t even have a venue yet haha! We used Chair Luxe for the candelabras and acrylic pedestals and the stemmed candles from Alyssa at Joyful Belle Event Services. The majority of the other items, I DIYed.” Sara used the same custom monogram from their ceremony runner for their invites and menus – all of which she designed and DIYed herself! The invitation suite was elegant and classic, perfectly matching the vision they had for their day. She designed the suite herself and then had them printed at InkSpot! Although the stationary was stunning, the most impressive DIY of the day was the florals! Sara envisioned grand and luscious florals filling the ballroom. With rising floral costs, this would have been a big feat for a florist to accommodate. Instead of minimizing her vision, she took on the project herself! She sourced white roses for her bouquet (which she wrapped with fabric embroidered with their custom monogram!) and made matching white rose bouquets for her bridesmaids. She created arrangements of roses, hydrangeas, and greenery for her ceremony and reception. Low floral arrangements lined their ceremony aisle with gorgeous, tall florals on glass vases and acrylic stands decorated with their monogram. A ribbon draped the aisle until guests entered, greeted with a glass of champagne, live music, and a ‘Newlywed Times’ newspaper on each seat listing the wedding party and details of the day. “My bridal party, mother and mother-in-law helped me with the florals. We did ALL of them. From the aisle florals, to the tall arrangements, bud vases, bouquets… all of it! I spent the year doing mock-ups and working with our local wholesaler, Harold’s. The Wednesday before the wedding, my mom and I processed them – this took about 8 hours at least. We had the basement filled with buckets of flowers until Friday morning (the day before the wedding!) and we got to work around 8 am. It took about 4 hours to get the arrangements done and then we transported them to my hotel room at the venue. I woke up on our wedding morning surrounded by white roses!”

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]“Our wedding cake was a classic cake with white cake and raspberry filling. We kept the decor pretty minimal with a few extra flowers we had!”

Sara & Sam’s wedding cake was so beautiful! It was elegant and classic while also being minimalistic and chic – a tough combination to nail but she certainly did!
[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

“Our ceremony music was amazing. We had a piano and cello duo play Bittersweet Symphony, Young and Beautiful and Golden Hour for our aisle songs. My sister-in-law read “The Alchemist”. For the reception, we all entered to “Gimme Gimme” by ABBA. Sam and I danced to “Feeling Good” by Michael Bublé. We practiced once and had a few sketchy impromptu dips that were somewhat successful.” Sara & Sam also wrote and exchanged their own vows! This was such a special moment. Each wrote their vows on booklets from the Missouri Athletic Club to be kept as a special memento from their day.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

“The children walking down the aisle. Our families are the most important thing to us and it is quite big. We had all 19 of our nieces and nephews walk down the aisle by families so our siblings could get a really good photo of their kids together dressed up. We wanted our families to be reflected big time on our day. Sam is the last of 7 of his siblings to be married, so seeing the photos of his mom that Ashley captured really told a story and tugged at my heartstrings. She raised seven really amazing kids and is the grandmother of so many. She really is the backbone of the Kersting family, so to watch her soak in the moments with her last baby was really fun to watch through the album.”

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

“The pins in my bouquet were actually the pins from the bouquet at our proposal. Sam makes fun of me for keeping random trinkets from certain memories, but I always find a place to use them. I also used my great-grandmother’s brooch. A majority of the women in our family had this on the bouquets, so I am honored to carry on that tradition of such a great woman.”

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

Sara is actually a jewelry consultant at Clayton Jewelers here in St Louis! So, of course, her engagement ring was absolutely stunning and reflected her personal style to a T! A special moment was her opening Sam’s present to her in the morning before she put on her dress! She knew he was gifting her her wedding band, but she had no idea what it would look like! She was so excited that morning to see what he had picked out for her. The moment she opened the box, she was so touched by how perfectly he chose a band that reflected her style and matched her ring!

A 40-Person Head Table and the Biggest, Brightest Flowers South Carolina Has Seen

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Chartreuse, Orange, Yellow, Neon Pink[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The vision for the day was to be a modern colorful experience emoting all the feelings of these two lovely families coming together. The bride, Allie, was positive she wanted something her guests hadn’t seen before and at a location that meant something to her family. Colorful, chartreuse, and outlined in sleek black, the day came alive with a mix of textures paired with a custom scallop and Chicago Bean-inspired Matisse pattern.

Mike took me away for a weekend to Blackberry Mountain. He woke me up at 7 am with my favorite thing- a warm cup of coffee. We leaned into southern hospitality comfort food with a nod to some personal favorites. The groom is an ice cream connoisseur so we made sure to have the famous local Leopolds Ice Cream on hand for scoops to be handed out during the welcome reception, Chicago style hot dogs were also served up by the firepits and for the wedding day a classic two-course meal with options between fish and beef was just enough to ensure guests were ready to boogie on the dancefloor for the rest of the night!

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Knowing color was a top priority we called in Sweet Root Village from Virginia to come down and do it up. We dubbed the two crossed arches over the dancefloor, “the hot cross buns” and they became our guiding light for filling in all the other elements throughout the weekend. Alle wanted a shadow box bar of flowers at cocktail hour, a custom dancefloor, and flowers everywhere. There were three different tablescapes throughout the tent, each with their special place setting and moment. The round chartreuse tables housed our color of the evening, the two long king tables on either side of the dancefloor featured ikebana style arrangements and black and white Greek key pattern placemats, and the main king table holding 40 bridal party members and guests were anchored by custom scallop pattern acrylic placemats and the biggest brightest runner of flowers South Carolina has seen. The escort wall held court at cocktail hour and each guest’s name was calligraphed on acrylic scallop slivers hanging from two arches to mimic the hot cross buns in the tent.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The couple was not a huge fan of wedding cake, so we went classic on the flavors and big on the florals. Using a funky linen, floral meadows surrounding the cake, and tiered single flowers the cake looked amazing and tasted just a great.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The main 28′ bar in the tent was a showstopper and a surprise for the bride. Together, Grit & Grace and Kelsey Maile Design dreamed up a custom bar panel scene with figures to mimic the actual bridal party and immediate family. The bride and groom didn’t see the finished product until right before the guests did! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The ceremony was the first time the bride and groom saw each other all day (no first look!) and the weather and sunshine were just magical. The ceremony aisle was illuminated with a gradient of colorful florals hinting at the incredible reception ahead.

The crowd was bumpin’! So much so that between the crowd surfing, singing on the stage, and an impromptu limbo the groom’s tux pants ripped fully open and he continued to party regardless of the drafty behind until well into the wee hours of the night!

A Summer North Carolina Wedding With Fun Pops Of Watermelon

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Summer in North Carolina simply begs for a punch of color. We started with a foundation of classic blues and greens and added coral/watermelon details to spice things up!

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The overall vibe was classic and elegant. Peyton and Danny wanted to embrace classic wedding traditions in a way that was fresh, fun, and inviting. With so many of their guests traveling down to the southeast for the wedding, it was important to share a bit of North Carolina with everyone, so authentic Southern hospitality was at the forefront of every decision. We developed several custom patterns in different colorways that were used throughout the weekend events including the bridal luncheon, rehearsal dinner, welcome party, and wedding day festivities. The patterns included stripes and southern magnolia blossoms and foliage. [/field]

Following the outdoor ceremony in Reyonlda Gardens, guests were transported across town to Forsyth Country Club, where they were greeted at cocktail hour with tray-passed beverages and hors d’oeuvres, including ahi tuna poke, grilled artichoke and tomato bruschetta, and crispy fried oysters. Under the tent, guests were served an elegant summer harvest salad with marinated vegetables on crisp greens and lemon herb vinaigrette and a duet of grilled filet and shrimp scampi buerre blanc with seasonal vegetables and potato pave. Later that evening, as everyone worked up an appetite again on the dance floor, the club tray-passed mini fried chicken biscuits and cones of truffle fries with shaved parmesan.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Flowers for the wedding included white larkspur, garden roses, peonies, stock, and ranunculus, with both blue and white varieties of delphinium and hydrangea. To punch up the color, we used coral godetia, coral charm peonies, red bouvardia and peachy coral spray roses. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Danielle Kattan created a beautiful four-tier cake that incorporated some of the stripes for our patterns used throughout the invitation suite and paper details. To ensure the cake survived the summer heat or humidity and could still be placed under the sailcloth tent before sunset, not only was fondant icing a must, but we also schemed to use a faux cake, with the perfectly sized segment of real cake for Peyton and Danny to cut and enjoy as guests watched on. Everyone else was served fresh cake from the kitchen, and none the wiser. Two different flavor profiles were offered: (1) Vanilla and chocolate flavors filled with whisky southern caramel and Madagascar vanilla buttercream finished up with a swirly combination of delicious southern caramel sauce and more buttercream, and (2) lemon zest with raspberry filling.

A Timeless Outdoor Wedding That Celebrates Simplicity

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]White, blush, champagne[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Classic, Timeless, and Elegant[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

From the start of their relationship, the couple knew they were in it for the long haul. The bride, who appreciates simplicity and thoughtfulness, appreciates an intimate and romantic proposal. It took place in her parent’s backyard, with balloons, candles, and a bouquet of flowers. Surrounded by both families, the moment became a beautiful and memorable chapter in their love story, surpassing all the bride could have imagined.

As she grew up, she collected pictures of her dream wedding gown. However, during the planning process, she realized that her main goal was to showcase modesty and reflect her faith in God. After trying on several dresses and getting help from her sister and seamstress, she chose a beautiful mermaid satin dress with chiffon sleeves. On her special day, she felt incredibly beautiful and was happy with her choice.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

Continuing the goal of modesty in the attire proved challenging when searching for bridesmaid dresses. After an extensive search, they settled on the Jesse satin dress from Birdy Grey. The bridesmaids wore taupe, while the matron of honor, the bride’s sister, donned a rose gold version. The choice added a touch of elegance, and on the special day, the bridesmaids looked stunning and beautiful.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The ceremony was nothing short of a miracle. The couple had planned for an outdoor ceremony. There was rain and thunderstorms on and off all morning. It had started raining again right before the ceremony, so everybody had to vacate indoors. After a couple of minutes and a lot of praying, the sun shone again, and there was no rain thereafter! It was a miraculous and beautiful outdoor ceremony!

The bride took on the responsibility of all wedding planning and styling. La Belle Époque Inspired Wedding at Beaulieu Garden

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]We used different hues of blue, green, yellow, white and a hint of dusty salmon pink throughout the design. Blending these colors created a romantic, bright, and warm Parisian environment, paying homage to La Belle Époque era.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Kelci and Blake’s Beaulieu Garden affair was a vibrant combination of striking color, speakeasy-inspired fun, and touching details deeply rooted in family tradition. The festivities began with a welcome party at the groom’s home in Napa Valley, where guests reunited and relaxed among old-growth trees and the lush golden light of wine country. Blake’s family produced a wine special for the occasion, which we finished with a custom label and a personalized zinc and pewter medallion. Zinc and wood elements carried through to the rest of the weekend’s events, from paper weights and metallic ceremony chairs to vessels scattered across the table settings. We referred to the medallion as not merely a common thread, but a “thumbprint” representing the blending of two people and their backgrounds.
[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]After years of mutual daydreaming, they decided to take the leap into marriage together. Blake planned a proposal in one of Kelci’s favorite childhood places. Using the guise of self-timed photos for holiday cards, he proposed with the help of a hidden photographer in November 2021 at a snowy state park in Lake Tahoe. And, of course, Kelci said yes.[/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]For Kelci, it was very important to include facets of her St. Helena upbringing in the wedding design. She fondly remembers delicate flowers growing along the roads near her childhood home, and loves the way that meadow flowers are both wild and resilient in their beauty. We found a meant-to-be set of hand-painted floral plates in Los Angeles, as well as a set of orange velvet couches that would serve as seating for the reception. The blend of bright color and intricate floral details was both eye-catching and ever-so-cheeky, and it created a warm and welcoming environment for guests at every stage of the evening.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Carey Lowe from The Idea Emporium designed custom wine labels from the groom’s family vineyard. The wine was served throughout the evening and it was a treat for the couple to share that experience with their guests. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The ceremony incorporated the couple’s chosen shades of orange, blue, green, and yellow, with lush and textured florals lining the aisle and surrounding the vintage folding chairs we placed for seating. Our design for cocktail hour embraced the natural greenery and gardens of the property, while plush green couches with custom, extra-large lumbar pillows printed in the same daisy pattern as the couple’s invitation suite invited easy conversation and a relaxing atmosphere. Guests wrote notes for Blake and Kelci in a Willima Morris coffee table book using a purposefully-chosen copper pen — as copper tends to retain fingerprints, the pen served as a unique way for the couple to remain connected with everyone who was there that day. Guests could also leave messages for Blake and Kelci on old-fashioned telephones from After the Tone, who would later turn the messages into a vinyl record for Blake and Kelci to replay and cherish at home.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Kelci and Blake love jazz and old-school style entertainment, so we leaned on vintage flair and speakeasy elements for the after dinner events. We suspended sixteen shimmering disco balls in the tree behind the bar, and hung more disco balls behind the band on stage. Guests sipped cocktails featuring baseball-themed swizzle sticks — a nod to the couple’s dog, Fenway, and the city where they first met. As Blake and Kelci tend to play classic games while seated at a club or speakeasy, we created custom chess sets, tic-tac-toe, and backgammon that guests could play in the glow of blue leather table lamps. After a final few dances in her second, sequined dress, Kelci joined Blake to run through a tunnel of colorful streamers. They hopped into a vintage convertible — an homage to Blake’s grandfather —and drove off into the night. The perfect “Bon Voyage!” for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration!

From the live wood-fired pizza, boasting an array of toppings, to the Mozzarella Bar offering this delicacy in various shapes and sizes, and a dedicated station featuring delectable Italian cured meats—freshly sliced raw ham taking the spotlight. The buffet was also rich in seasonal fruits and vegetables, a feast for the eyes.
Transitioning from aperitifs dominated by the popular Spritz cocktail, the dinner was elegantly complemented by a robust and intense Chianti Classico.

The Wedding Day:
During the aperitif, guests savored prosecco and champagne while indulging in sophisticated canapés in the villa’s beautiful garden, which overlooks Florence.

For the formal dinner, the couple decided on two pasta courses: Tortelli with cacio e pepe featuring crunchy Roman bacon and Paccheri fresh pasta with saffron cream, confit Pachino tomatoes, and asparagus tips. As the third course, the skilled chefs at Galateo offered guests a choice between Sea Bass with champagne and lemon, served alongside seasonal vegetables drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, and Beef Fillet with a Chianti Classico wine sauce, sage-infused roasted potatoes, and a crisp vegetable ratatouille.
An evening showcasing the premium offerings of traditional Italian products paired with white and red wines from the prestigious Antinori Winery.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The floral arrangements exhibited an effortlessly spontaneous arrangement of lush greenery and solely white flowers. Unconventional and lavish compositions adorned the mirrored platform during the ceremony, allowing nature to take center stage and reflect itself.

For the dinner setup, on the two grand tables, alongside the flowers, silver candelabras with white candles and fruits like grapes and figs were incorporated. This was a nod to the essence of the “old world,” where celebrations were marked by opulent tables laden with abundance.

The bridesmaids’ “bouquets” were uniquely charming: romantic wicker bags from which blossoms emerged organically, creating the impression of an exceptionally elegant countryside picnic.[/field]

Given their ownership of a restaurant in Canada, it’s worth noting that he took delight in personally crafting their wedding cake, showcasing his culinary skills in front of their guests.

In line with the couple’s remarkable hospitality, Michelle and Daniel graciously hosted their guests on the eve of their wedding at an Italian-themed welcome evening. Set against the picturesque sunset of Florence, two extended tables were adorned with an array of delectable Italian cuisine. The catering team thoughtfully curated various tasting stations, including a dynamic “pizzeria,” continuously crafting delightful offerings. A quartet of musicians seamlessly blended with the lighthearted attendees, who gleefully serenaded each other with some of the world’s most renowned Italian songs.[/field]

The bride wore three different dresses for the occasion. The ceremony dress was a modern, customized Anne Barge Mikado scuba ball gown from En Blanc in Los Angeles. The reception dress was a fitted trumpet-style Galia Lahav with 3D embroidered silk flowers in a romantic silhouette from the Galia Lahav Los Angeles flagship. The third dress – debuted during the surprise Chinese lion dance – was a traditional red and gold Chinese “qipao” from East Meets Dress.

As self-proclaimed “foodies”, the bride and groom placed high importance on the quality of food and drink served. Their guests also included those with vegetarian preferences. Catering was provided by Tres LA Catering and featured a variety of beautifully arranged appetizers like flank steak skewers with chimichurri, spicy tuna over crispy rice, and balsamic roasted vegetables. Cocktail hour featured signature cocktails from Mama’s Medicine. It included one of the bride’s favorite cocktails – ranch water, a refreshing mix of Patron Silver, jalapeno, lime juice, and Topo Chico, along with a seafood tower. For dinner, guests chose one of 3 options – seared ribeye, black garlic, miso-glazed bass, or the vegan truffle risotto. Dinner was then followed by late-night appetizers that included mini Reubens and fried chicken bites.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

JnJ Floral provided over-the-top, beautifully arranged floral decor that complemented the classic and elegant theme as well as the architecture of the mountain venue. The florals featured white peonies, roses, hydrangeas, and anemones. The ceremony and reception were both held on the property’s circular helicopter pad. A custom platform was built to provide the perfect setting for the couple to say “I do” during the ceremony, and it would later also be the stage holding the 14-piece band and the dancefloor for guests.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The wedding cake was a simple 3-tiered strawberry and cream cake from Fantasy Frostings decorated with more flowers.

The bride and groom also valued live wedding music. They were recommended Downbeat, who put on an incredible performance that left guests raving. The couple selected a string quartet for the ceremony, a guitarist for cocktail hour, a 14-piece band—the A-List—and a DJ for the reception.

The couple hired celebrity magician Johnny Wu, who mingled and entertained guests in both English and Mandarin during cocktail hour.

South Asian Splendor Underneath the Cabo San Lucas Sun

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were red, pink, yellow, orange, purple, and gold.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Danielle and Neel were looking to create a regal yet relaxed ambiance for their South Asian wedding, something that felt like a fairy tale but still held close to Hindu customs. A destination wedding seemed the most appropriate setting, and they ultimately settled on Cabo San Lucas: the land of never-ending sunshine, where the rugged Baja desert meets the dramatic Sea of Cortez. They enlisted the help of Del Cabo Weddings, who designed and executed a sumptuous South Asian celebration from the ground up. No detail was spared, from the bridal party’s intricately painted henna hands to the groom’s arrival on horseback.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Well before they married, Danielle and Neel shared a private spot, hidden atop a solitary cliff where the rolling hills of Malibu drop down into the Pacific. The evening of the proposal, they had gone there together to watch the sunset, as they often did before having dinner nearby. On this particular occasion, Neel asked Danielle if he could snap some pics of her in the golden hour sunlight. Midway through the impromptu photo session, he dropped to one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. The next surprise came when they arrived at dinner and were greeted by their closest loved ones, there to celebrate the coming union. [/field]

Indian opulence, meticulously crafted by hand, was the order of the day for our stunning bride. The heavily embroidered and beaded outfit, commonly known as a lengha, was custom-designed for Danielle by Manish Malhotra.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]As is customary in Hindu wedding ceremonies, there were no bridesmaids or groomsmen, but rather, the bride and groom were accompanied by their loving parents at the altar. The following day, however, Danielle and Neel held a traditional Western ceremony in which the bridesmaids wore lovely floor-length chiffon dresses with flattering scoop necks and delicate spaghetti straps, in the same deep burgundy as Danielle’s lengha.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Our groom was outfitted in a resplendent Bandhgala suit fit for a prince, with exquisitely embroidered cuffs and a collar. Danielle and Neel chose Nobu Los Cabos as their venue, with its sophisticated Japanese aesthetic and globally renowned kitchen. The open bar offered two specialty drinks in honor of the couple’s dogs: a mango margarita with tajín, named for Zeus, and a Scotch-and-lemon elixir for Apollo. Nobu’s head chef in Cabo was charged with concocting a dinner menu replete with traditional Northern Indian dishes that had to satisfy some very discerning palates, including Neel’s mom and dad! It ultimately included signature favorites such as a spicy paneer tikka, a slightly smoky tandoori chicken, crispy samosas, succulent lamb chops, and a hearty daal, to name a few.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Tables were draped in fine velvet tablecloths and accented with gold cutlery and tableware. Aria Vera Floral handled the floral design, working wonders with roses and wildflowers in deep yellows, oranges, reds, and pinks, a nod to colors often featured in Hindu ceremonies. Fresh flowers in this palette ran like rivers down the middle of communal tables and burst like fireworks above the circular tables. These same flowers were used earlier during the ceremony to create living waterfalls that flowed down either side of the Mandap, a four-pillared covered structure with pillars used as the altar for Indian weddings, which was also adorned with traditional Hindu decorations such as clay pots, sculptures, windchimes, vases, drapes, and wooden figurines.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]A three-tiered white chocolate sponge with dulce de leche filling and decorative floral accents satisfied every guest’s sweet tooth. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]A Hindu priest officiated Danielle and Neel’s ceremony, which included the reading of traditional Hindu scriptures. Given the guests’ diverse backgrounds, the couple made sure all musical tastes had a reason to get on the dance floor. The reception playlist included modern Indian songs as well as favorites of R&B, Hip-Hop, Rap, and Oldies.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

The sunset was everything. Given the proposal’s setting, Danielle and Neel wouldn’t have it any other way. This meant pinpoint precision regarding timing on the part of the planners at Del Cabo Weddings. As a result of their hard work, the bride and groom exchanged their vows and sealed them with a kiss just as the golden sun dipped below the horizon.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]At the ceremony’s close, the bride and groom were showered in fragrant rose petals that guests sprinkled over them by the handful as they made their way back down the aisle.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The drinks named after Danielle and Neel’s dogs were advertised at the bar by two adorable ink paintings of the pooches dressed in traditional Indian garments.[/field]

A Casual “Spring Soiree” Wedding in an Idyllic Lowcountry Setting

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]We wanted to showcase the best of springtime in Charleston, and that means color! Pinks, greens, blues, and oranges made their way into the decor and floral. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

When we canceled our original wedding due to Covid, John and I decided to get married with our immediate families and celebrate with a larger group the following year. As we began re-planning, we switched to an afternoon (4-8pm), coat no tie “spring soiree” and picked Old Town Creek County Park for its idyllic low country setting. Who doesn’t love cocktails and oysters by the marsh? The small summer house served as the perfect backdrop during dinner, and dancing under the Spanish moss left everyone wanting more. When we first met, I brought Blake a series of inspiration images that had almost nothing to do with events. He took my photos of Simone Rocha coats, Matthew Carter interiors, and Schumacher wallpaper and manifested that look and feel into event form. The photo of a green Carolina Herrera dress became a striped dance floor and rose medallion plates, an arrangement of coral tulips. We wanted the day to have an understated elegance and warmth about it that would make guests feel at home. This was our opportunity to celebrate our first year of marriage, and share the life we had created in Charleston with those closest to us. We wanted to make sure guests felt welcomed as most were from out of town. We were able to greet them as they arrived, and spend the evening sharing the best of the low country with them. A true extension of Southern hospitality!

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

We were set up on a blind date in October 2017. John was living in Charleston and I was in Dallas, so a friend put us in touch while he was in town for work. Drinks turned into dinner, which turned into him coming back to town a few weeks later. After two years of dating long-distance, we were engaged!

John proposed while we were watching the sunset over the Kiawah marsh in October 2019. John told both of our parents ahead of time, and they flew in to celebrate with us that evening. It was supposed to be a big surprise to me, but I had seen my dad’s calendar a month prior and knew it was happening all along—whoops! Additionally, the ring ended up being delayed so he popped the question with a plastic dupe from Amazon. It was as imperfectly perfect as could be! Wedding Date: April 10, 2021 (we were married in Dallas with immediate family on May 2, 2020)

I wore an Oscar de la Renta lace cotton midi dress with lace detail. ***I wore my Caroline Castigliano wedding gown to our ceremony in Dallas, and wanted a look more appropriate for our afternoon celebration. I searched high and low for something and kept coming up dry until I stumbled upon this Oscar number. It was on a Moda Operandi trunk show and wasn’t set to ship until August 2021. I reached out to the MO team and they were able to special order the piece so I would receive it by our party. I had never even tried on a sample, so crossed my fingers it would work. It arrived exactly one week before the party and fit like a dream! John gifted me diamond stud earrings for our one-year anniversary, so I wore those along with Rosetta Getty shoes and a tennis bracelet of my mother’s.

No bridesmaids or groomsmen, but my mom wore a fabulous orange Maison Rabih Kayrouz dress that we found at Forty-Five Ten in Dallas. She had worn an Orange Emilia Wickstead dress to our ceremony, so when we found this piece we knew it was meant to be!

First dance song: We had an impromptu first dance to “This Little Light of Mine” with the gospel choir during cocktail hour. We were quietly dancing on the side and Corbin nudged us out in front of the choir. It ended up being the perfect first dance as our planned dance later in the evening didn’t happen! We were planning to re-create our first dance to How Sweet It Is by Marvin Gaye and follow it with a joint father/daughter mother/son dance. But we saw the forecast showed rain (and we had no cover) so we quickly closed out dinner hour and rushed down to the dance floor. The dance floor was packed and we didn’t want to stop the momentum by doing a first dance so we let the gospel choir this little light of mine be our moment.

A Love Story That Began with Serendipity: Aubree and Ryan’s love story started with a touch of serendipity. They first crossed paths at a birthday party. Their connection grew over time, despite not exchanging numbers or talking extensively at the party. Ryan’s curiosity about Aubree never waned, and he continued to inquire about her, week after week. Their paths crossed again a month later, at a Starbucks in Green Hills. It was during a snowstorm, adding an unexpected twist to their budding romance. Their initial meeting left them feeling a connection, but life’s twists and turns delayed their first date. From First Date to Forever: Aubree and Ryan’s first date was a memorable one, taking place during an ice storm that left Aubree trapped at her parents’ house for six days. The delay only intensified their anticipation, and when they finally met for dinner, they talked for hours, shutting down the restaurant. It was the beginning of a journey filled with open and vulnerable conversations. Their love story continued to unfold, with a significant milestone being their presence as the only two single guests at their friend’s wedding in Phoenix. Their connection deepened, and they became inseparable from that moment forward. The Moment She Knew: For Aubree, it didn’t take long to realize that Ryan was the one. His kindness, genuine nature, love for family and friends, and his ability to connect with people deeply all contributed to her certainty. Their connection was undeniable, established from their very first date when they openly discussed life’s most profound topics. A Proposal Full of Surprises: Ryan’s proposal was a beautiful surprise that took place at the bride’s sister & brother in laws estate. Despite rumors from friends that the proposal would occur, Ryan had Aubree convinced otherwise. Little did she know, he had been planning it meticulously. While Ryan had originally claimed there was a dinner with his parents, it turned out to be part of the surprise. After the proposal, the couple was met with a family celebration featuring a beautifully set dinner on the back patio. The ring itself was a family heirloom with a story, a center stone from Ryan’s great-grandmother’s ring, making it even more meaningful.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Aubree’s favorite part of the wedding was its intimate and timeless atmosphere, especially being married on her sister’s estate. She cherished the magnolia leaves, the fall weather, and the opportunity to smoke cigars with her father and Ryan’s friends.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Aubree’s engagement ring was an heirloom featuring a center stone from Ryan’s great-grandmother’s ring, making it even more meaningful. Ryan surprised her with the wedding band. He also hand-crafted the ring box for her.

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Aubree shared a first dance with Ryan’s father. Ryan’s sister passed away and his father would never be able to share in that father-daughter dance. So Aubree danced with him. It was truly a beautiful moment.

New England Summer Wedding Filled With Fresh Pops Of Citrus

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were orange, pink, green, and yellow.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

From the bride… “I knew I wanted to have bright, summery, citrus hues to incorporate my Floridian roots into our New England wedding. From there, I trusted my wedding planner (Katie Ryan) and florist (Fig & Squill) to curate a vision that turned out even more perfect than I could have ever imagined. We started with the idea of assorted-shaped natural Rattans at varying heights with hanging greenery and pops of bright florals. From there, we developed the idea of incorporating different hues and patterns of green to balance the citrus hues. For the ceremony, the idea was to have an organic and natural feel of colorful florals sprouting from the arch and along the aisle. The custom green-pattern dance floor was a last minute addition recommendation of my wedding planner (Katie Ryan) that not only complimented and unified the colors and details of the tent but also became the stunning focal point. Clementines as escort cards on the head table were also a meaningful way to reference my Floridian roots subtly.”

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

“Will and I were introduced by mutual friends during our sophomore year of college at Shooters II Saloon, a local Duke University bar. After repeated set-up attempts by friends, we ultimately started dating. After college, we were long-distance as I attended medical school in Florida, and Will attended graduate school in Boston. We subsequently reconnected when I moved to Boston to complete my Obstetrics & Gynecology residency training and, within a year, moved in together. Will proposed on a beach walk with our dog, Harlow, in Moody Beach, ME, where I grew up vacationing with her family. We now live together with Harlow in Rhode Island.” A favorite moment Katie shared was that their wedding day began in the morning, with the two of them sharing a cup of coffee and exchanging private vows while overlooking the lighthouse and ocean at their iconic wedding venue, Castle Hill Inn.

In everyone’s opinion, Katie found her perfect gown. The story she shared made it event better- “I struggled to find a wedding dress that felt simple yet elegant. My childhood best friend sent me a picture of a dress from Elizabeth Fillmore and insisted it would be perfect for me. I traveled to New York City to try the dress on and instantly knew it was the one. The long-sleeve lace top added an elegant element to the simplicity of the dress that was perfect for the ceremony. My bridesmaids all choose their own unique dresses with the simple direction of something blue. The end product was an amazing assortment of shades and patterns that seamlessly flowed together!”

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The couple had chosen an array of colors that were both vibrant and subtle; from blues to oranges, yellows to greens, and pinks to purples. These colors were combined together in a range of different floral designs, with the main piece being the floral arch used as the backdrop to their ceremony. Mixed with the lush arch showcasing a picture frame view of the bay behind them, were vibrant florals in orange, red, and pink. In the reception area, they also featured various citrus touches with lemons, oranges, and dragonfruit as part of the tablescapes offering a bold and unique twist to the green-patterned linens.
