This Ethereal Italian Wedding Checks All The Destination Wedding Boxes

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The bride chose a neutral, muted color palette. There were varying shades of ivory, white, and a hint of blush. These subtle colors created a soft and elegant atmosphere. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Imagine stepping into a fairytale, where time seems to stand still amidst the ancient walls of Ferentillo Abbey in Umbria, Italy. When the bride laid eyes on this medieval marvel, she knew it was the perfect setting for their wedding – a celebration inspired by simplicity, elegance, and the timeless beauty of this historic venue. Their vision was to complement the abbey’s natural grandeur, so they opted for locally sourced florals in muted tones, mirroring the quiet splendor of their surroundings. As they exchanged vows in the abbey’s courtyard, surrounded by centuries-old architecture, weathered stone arches draped in cascading ivy, bathing everything in a soft, ethereal light, it felt like stepping into a dream. As day turned to night, the courtyard transformed into a magical space, filled with laughter, love, and the enchanting melodies of live acoustic music. Their wedding at Ferentillo Abbey was more than just a celebration; it was a journey back in time, a testament to the enduring beauty of love.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Collin and Kate’s love story began six years ago amid the bustling halls of work, where their contrasting personalities sparked an undeniable attraction. When Kate relocated to Houston after graduating, their romance blossomed through weekends spent exploring the city’s hidden gems and culinary delights. Despite the distance when Collin moved to Washington DC for graduate school, their bond only grew stronger as they navigated a long-distance relationship with unwavering commitment and countless shared adventures. It was during Kate’s first visit to DC, strolling beside the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, that Collin knew he had found his forever partner. For the next year or so, he planned for a proposal at the end of his graduation there at that same spot – the Reflecting Pool. He wanted to show her that although DC was his adventure, it was a journey they took together. It was always about advancing a future together. As Collin was solidifying plans for the coming months, Covid swept in. Despite his plans being derailed by the onset of Covid, Collin’s determination to create a meaningful proposal never wavered. Upon their reunion in Houston, Collin discovered a picturesque spot reminiscent of their cherished DC memories – a Reflecting Pool nestled within the Rice area, an homage to their journey together. In this symbolic setting, amidst the echoes of their shared past and the promise of a future intertwined, Collin finally asked Kate to embark on the greatest adventure of all – a lifetime of love

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The venue’s in-house dining venue proved to be an impeccable selection for hosting a refined dinner affair, boasting an array of locally sourced ingredients meticulously curated to craft a delectable multi-course experience. From the savory notes of steak tartare to the creamy textures of classic risotto and ravioli, and the succulent flavors of lamb, each dish harmonized seamlessly with the accompaniment of fine local wines. Moreover, the aperitif and cocktail hour was a cherished highlight among guests, with more than one pizza fritta saved to enjoy later in the night. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Special attention was given to the planning of décor and floral arrangements, every element was selected to reflect and amplify the warmth of the surroundings. Amanda Taylor with Embellished Weddings helped with the design and selection process to ensure the overall design was romantic, timeless and cohesive from the ceremony to the reception. Delicate touches of gold were intricately woven throughout, echoing the ambient glow and giving the atmosphere a sense of opulence. Meanwhile, the floral palette, in soft hues of creams, beiges, and light pinks, touched with green accents, subtly mirrored the serene beauty of the surrounding landscape, creating a harmonious and charming ambiance. All of the gorgeous floral details were provided by Winston and Winston Flowers.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]As a special nod to their cherished companion, Collin and Kate incorporated a personal touch into their wedding celebration: their beloved pet’s dog tag delicately attached to the bouquet of flowers. With each step down the aisle, Kate carried not only a bouquet of blooms but also a heartfelt reminder of the furry friend who had shared in their love story from the very beginning. The dog tag, “something borrowed” from their cherished pet, served as a poignant symbol of loyalty, companionship, and the enduring bond that had woven its way into the fabric of their lives.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]As a gesture of gratitude for their presence and support on this momentous occasion, Collin and Kate ensured that each guest felt truly appreciated by including a handwritten thank-you note at every place setting. These meticulously crafted tokens of appreciation, adorned with elegant drawing of the venue, conveyed their sincerest thanks for sharing in their joyous celebration and served as a beautiful keepsake for guests. The Anatomy Of An Invitation Suite: What’s Included?

There is a lot of flexibility in what pieces can and should be included in an invitation suite. While a few pieces are vital, stationery is designed to fit your event and what you need, uniquely.

“The typical invitation suite includes what we call The Basics: invitation, reply card and envelopes for both. Most clients will also have a details insert of some kind, and some order a custom map.”

–Emily Foran, Three Little Words

Save the Dates

Save the dates are traditionally mailed 6–12 months prior to the wedding, and let guests know a date and the general location of the wedding. They are particularly helpful if you and your partner are hosting a wedding with out-of-town guests, or if you’re planning a longer engagement. By sending these cards, guests will know they weren’t forgotten, and will have advance notice to start making arrangements and securing their spot on your special day.

Because they are often sent early in the wedding process, most of the details and decisions for the wedding will not be finalized, and that’s okay! When sending save the dates, the only things you need to know are a firm date, the city/state of the event, and a general sense of how the day will look and feel.

Be sure to include:

  • Names of couple
  • Wedding Date
  • City, State
  • Venue Name (Optional)
  • Wedding Website (Optional, although if you’ve already gotten your wedding website up and running, this is a great place to show it off and give your guests a place to go for all their questions)

Photo by Anya Kernes Photography, LBB | Stationery by Olive Saint Lily

Main Invitation

The main invitation card lies at the heart of each invitation suite. Traditionally, invitation wording has fairly strict etiquette. However, if you’re hosting an informal event, the etiquette can loosen a little. You can read more about invitation wording in the etiquette section of this guide.

Since the design of the main invitation suite happens closer to the big day, there’s more opportunity to bring in elements from the event itself. If you’re ordering custom stationery, your designer could incorporate a floral illustration using the varieties of flowers that will be used in the centerpieces, or use envelopes that match the bridesmaids’ dresses. View the invitation suite as a bridge between concept and reality, and use it to express your vision in a different format. The opportunity for creative design choices increases when you incorporate additional cards in the suite.

Be sure to include:

  • Who is hosting
  • Names of couple
  • Date and Time
  • Venue
  • City (State is optional)

Response Cards and Envelopes

While technology has opened up doors for how guests can RSVP, traditional etiquette calls for a good, old-fashioned response card. Usually the smallest card in the suite, a response card includes a line for the guests or a hired calligrapher to write their names and mark whether or not they’ll be attending the event. Some response cards also include a section where guests can select their meal preference (a large majority of venues nowadays allow guests to choose their entrées tableside, but if that isn’t the case with yours, then here’s where you’d do it!), and in recent years, it’s become good practice to include a line where they can write any dietary restrictions.

The corresponding envelope should be pre-addressed to whoever is collecting response cards, AND include postage as well. No matter how pretty the invitation is, people can get lazy and lack the motivation to mail that baby back in! If you make the process of responding easier with a stamp already on it, more guests will get the picture and do their best to drop it in the post in a timely manner. Mailing invitations in the proper time frame,  so that they don’t have too much or too little time to reply, will increase the amount of people who respond as well.

Be sure to include:

  • Reply by Date
  • Line for guests’ names
  • Boxes to mark attendance status
  • Dietary Restriction Line (Optional)
  • Meal selection (Optional)

Details Card

A details card can be included in a suite to give guests more information on lodging, travel, navigation, menu choices, dress code, and other things they should know about the event. They are particularly helpful if your ceremony and reception venues are different, if you’re hosting out of town guests, or if you’re planning a more complex or formal event.

Things you may include:

  • Dress Code
  • Menu Options
  • Lodging Recommendations
  • Wedding Website
  • Notes on weather or landscape, if outdoor wedding
  • Other things guests should know

Illustrated Maps

When ordering custom or semi-custom suites, some designers offer illustrated maps. These cards are a fantastic way to show off your venues, and create a statement piece worth remembering. While most guests will opt to use a GPS to find their way, illustrated maps can give a general sense of where venues are located within a city. Not to mention, they’re really fun to look at!

A Parisian Inspired Garden Wedding with Whimsical Touches

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Francesca and Ignacio curated a stunning aesthetic for their garden wedding, focusing on the themes of Parisian elegance and whimsical charm. As guests arrive at the Havens Country Club, they pass though elegant 18th-century gates and Columns that were imported from Provence, France. The ceremony site had beautiful chandeliers with pastel-toned florals, creating a romantic focal point that emphasized the Parisian influence.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]
Francesca and Ignacio traveled to the Philippines for their 7 year anniversary. Ignacio proposed on a beautiful private eco-sanctuary island in El Nido, Palawan. This area is surrounded by a lush green forest cascading on the surrounding limestone cliffs. When it was time, Ignacio and Francesca took a walk along the jetty. Admiring the crystal blue waters, they decided to capture the moment with their camera. As they were posing with a kiss, Ignacio dropped down to one knee and proposed. Just as he was placing the ring on Francesca’s finger, a wave gracefully rolls in and washes over the jetty, almost as if nature itself was gracing their love story.[/field]

Cozy Cottage Meets Coastal Spring Vibes At This California Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were light blue, peach and blush.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The couple worked with Olivia with Elle Events to bring their wedding day to life. Their vision was to create an elegant cozy cottage and coastal spring vibe with variations of blue colors and patterns for their theme. The couple’s idea was for the flowers to take the stage and show off, so they went for a soft organic design, using wispy greenery and sprouting flowers with pink, orange, blue, and white hues to balance the blue theme and to compliment the wooden elements and neutral tones of the votives and bud vases. To bring all these together they also added some citrus fruits on the tables for reception which was a great pop of color. They rounded out this vision by having a tented reception to create a close atmosphere with chandeliers and sheer drapery to play up the elegance.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Blake proposed to Lindsay on October 30, 2021 in Death Valley at the Badwater Basin (Til Death (valley) do us part). She wasn’t expecting him to propose that year since they talked about getting engaged the following year. Lindsay actually had a dream a couple days before the trip that he proposed where she was holding her hand up to the sky looking at an oval diamond with a gold band (which later turned out to be teardrop with gold band in real life!). When she told him about the dream and asked if he was proposing, he had to deny it, but thought her sister gave it away. Moreover, Blake wanted to propose that weekend because they have made it a tradition to go out of town every Halloween weekend since he asked her to be his girlfriend on Halloween in San Clemente in 2019. Lindsay’s sister and her boyfriend were there for the proposal and they all stayed at a resort called the Oasis in Death Valley (which was quite an interesting experience!).

Lindsay bought her dress from Dress Theory in San Diego. Her dress designer was Sarah Seven, the “Rosanna” dress. She customized it by adding buttons down the back and a slit in the front. Other notable accessories were a Mikimoto pearl necklace, and her ring set which is from Marrow from the San Diego location.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Lindsay’s bridesmaids all wore different styles and patterns dresses while remaining in the theme of blue so that they could all match in colors. The different dresses all came together beautifully, which is a great idea for each of the bridesmaids to show off their personality while still being in theme for the wedding.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

The Groom attire was from The Black Tux, black and white loafers were from Gucci, and his watch was a Breitling Premier automatic 40. He also wore Presidential cufflinks from the white house which was a gift from the best man.

During the reception, they had a plated three-course dinner beginning with a salad and three different choices for the main course and the desert was the wedding cake from VG Donuts along with cakepops, cookies and other sweets.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The couple really wanted the flowers to be the main decor for the day so that it could play off of the venue’s beautiful garden. With that in mind, they chose to go with a soft organic design while working with Leah from Mai Floral Design. They had a blue theme in mind and to balance the blue and compliment the wooden elements of the day they used sprouting flowers with pink, orange, blue and white hues while using greenery to tie it all in with the venue’s beauty.

Her designs carried the color palette throughout the entire event, adding fresh pops of color to the interior of the venue, and blending seamlessly into the garden area, where the reception was held under the stars. Standing out in the midst of all of the incredible decor was the custom acrylic escort card display – which was made up of black and white polaroids of the guests throughout their years of knowing the couple. Guests were absolutely delighted, and spent time pouring over the images – even after finding their seat assignment!

A Whimsical Bald Head Island Wedding With Details Inspired by Family Memories And Taylor Swift Friendship Bracelets

[section title=”The Planning”]

The wedding color was pink – lots of pink!

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The bride’s family has spent every summer on Bald Head Island since Elisabeth was very young, so the meaningful location was a perfect fit when choosing a place. While giving a toast at the wedding, the bride’s mom noted that the day’s “theme” was simply this: home. Each design aspect pointed to a place of comfort, love and family. With an eye for whimsical, feminine decor and sweet storytelling, the bride’s mom wove countless stories, family memories and childhood moments into the design of the day – the vast majority being handmade or from the bride’s childhood. The bride’s love for Taylor Swift also had its moments throughout the day too![/field]

Mismatched pink bridesmaids dresses, many with floral details, adorned Elisabeth’s closed girlfriends. From the bride: Honestly, most of the bridesmaid dresses came from me and my mom’s closets!!! The perfect baby pink is HARD to find. The 2 champagne dresses are from Fab’rik, the layered dress is from STASH Apparel and Gifts, the 3 floral dresses are Sachin & Babi, the ruffle sleeve dress is from Show Me Your Mumu, and the tulle dress is Jenny Yoo!

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Guests were treated to table-specific treats too. The Taylor Swift-inspired butterfly cake on the head table was the crown jewel among cake pops, macaroons, cookie bars and even more cakes! [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Touching on the pink hues and joyful femininity of the overall design, Salt Harbor Designs crafted delicate bouquets and table arrangements in the days signature color.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Multiple cakes adorned several tables throughout the reception – most notably the Taylor Swift-inspired butterfly cake at the head table. The main cake, was topped with two puppies.

From the bride.. The puppy cake toppers were a total surprise!!! When I was little, these were two of the toys from my toy box! I didn’t even know we still had them! My mom picked these two dogs in particular because they look like my family’s dogs, Poppy and Bea, that Owen and I are just in love with! Such a cute touch.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

The bride’s grandfather officiated their ceremony and the benches outside the chapel (where the bride did a shoe change) are dedicated to her late grandmother.

From the bride… When I was really young, my parents told me that my dad’s dad (my Opa) officiated their wedding. I clearly remember thinking how cool it’d be if the same was true for me. I also have distinct memories of sitting in the Bald Head Island chapel growing up, picturing getting married in there myself one day and having it all come true was just as perfect as I had imagined it would be so long ago! A ceremony little me dreamed about!!!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

One of the most remarkable things about this wedding was how every part of the reception represented a special moment or person in the couple’s life. Each table was uniquely named and had handmade celebratory wands made by the bride’s mom. Whimsical props from mini crowns and party hats to seashell headbands and pink glitter frogs came with stories about the bride growing up, details of a family recipe or a favorite memory from the family’s many summers spent on Bald Head Island. Napkins were held by Taylor Swift-style friendship bracelets – each one totally unique and made by the bride, her mom and maid of honor.

From the bride… My mom has an obsession with all things Maileg (the mouse brand)! For the past few years, whenever she’s been asked what she wants for her birthday or Christmas she’ll just shout “MICE!!!” So basically my parents’ house is filled with mice decor hiding around. So she had the idea to tell the story of how Owen and I met to the wedding through MICE! She also has a deep love for dollhouses, so since me & Owen’s families are neighbors, it made perfect sense to have mice dollhouses as part of the scene – one representing Owen’s house, the other being mine. She also had scenes of the mice (me and Owen) being born (with baby mice), going to Anguilla (our honeymoon destination), and getting married (yes, she also had Maileg wedding mice on hand).

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The couple used the bride’s childhood mailbox as their guest book! They also wrote letters to each guest.

From the Bride… My great grandfather on my mom’s side was a postman! He always knew the EXACT date to send a card to ensure it would arrive to us on the EXACT date of whatever holiday he was sending a gift for no matter where we were. Having a postman in the family and getting to visit my grandfather, my brother and I loved mail, so my mom got us both a mailbox to put outside our doors. Anytime we’d get mail, our parents would put it in our mailbox. We’d also just write each other letters to make sure there was always something in our mailboxes :) My mom had the wonderful idea to have my childhood mailbox act as our guest book. Guests wrote letters, sealed them up, and placed them in my white mailbox. When Owen and I got back from our honeymoon, we got to sit and open them together. The cards were filled with advice, jokes, memories, etc. and I am just so glad we have them all to look back on!!!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

The golf cart is a Bald Head Island classic. The entire island is car-free, so golf carts are the most common form of transportation. Elisabeth and Owen enjoyed riding in style in a Rolls Royce golf cart adored with a floral wreath for their wedding weekend! After the ceremony, the bride switch shoes to a pair of pink Nike kicks with a nod to Taylor Swift butterflies and a the bride’s new name woven into the laces. Owen’s groomsmen each wrote him a letter and gave it to him in a monogrammed keepsake box.

Other details. from the bride… A Pez table was also essential. My family has a huge collection of Pez that we have been building ever since I can remember! Every time I am in a store, I can’t help myself but to go check if they have any Pez characters we don’t already have. My mom had these two champagne glasses sitting in her China cabinet since I was little. One was Mickey, the other was Minnie. My parents used these glasses at their own wedding! Owen asked me to be his girlfriend on a school trip to Disney World, so my mom had these glasses at our seats for the reception! Handkerchief around my bouquet: Owen’s mom gifted me this handkerchief with my new initials on it that was made from her own wedding dress!

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The wedding menu highlighted simple, local flavors, starting with a cocktail hour featuring bite-sized delicacies like canapés, cheeses, and charcuterie. The main meal began with a creamy truffle pasta, followed by a rich ox cheek in red wine sauce with gnocchi and grilled vegetables. The standout was the wedding cake, a delightful pistachio and raspberry combination, chosen for its exquisite taste and presentation.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The floral arrangements and decor at the wedding were meticulously chosen to create a luxurious and natural atmosphere. Emphasis was placed on abundant, slightly untamed arrangements of large roses, hydrangeas, and soft pastel-colored smaller flowers, filling the space with lush, romantic vibes. The bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets were composed exclusively of white flowers, adding a playful touch with white berries.

For a personal touch, the couple incorporated their family monogram on linen napkins, blending elegance with sentimentality. These napkins, intended for use at future family gatherings, were also cherished takeaways for some guests. Overall, the decor maintained a classic, soft, and natural feel, without bold colors or materials, perfectly executed with the help of the wedding planner, Tamara from Adriatic Weddings, and the florist, Anita, who together brought the couple’s vision to life.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The wedding cake, a creation by the renowned Tea Mamut, was a highlight of the celebration, reflecting the couple’s long-standing admiration for Mamut’s pastries, known for their traditional roots with a modern twist. After a tasting in Split, the couple decided on a delightful combination of raspberry and an unexpected pistachio flavor, encapsulating both tradition and surprise. The cake’s design was elegantly understated, all white with a garnish of fresh raspberries on top, making it a visually stunning centerpiece as well as a culinary delight.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The couple’s entrance in the Trogir cathedral was marked by the iconic wedding march, resonating through the grand space with the organ’s magnificent sound, while the ceremony was further beautified by stunning vocal renditions of “Ave Maria.” For their first dance, the couple selected “Stand by Me” by Ben E. King, a classic tune that offered both nostalgia and an easy rhythm for dancing. The reception celebrated a diverse musical blend, featuring local Croatian melodies, the soulful sounds of a saxophone, the modern beats of a DJ, and the traditional serenades of troubadours, ensuring the entertainment reflected the varied origins of their guests from Sweden and Croatia, catering to everyone’s musical tastes.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]A particularly special detail of the wedding was the bride’s gown, which was her own design. Gorgeous Green And White Wedding At Haiku Mill In Hawaii

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

A monochromatic pallette of white and ivory with greenery to support, white being the focus. The bride was inspired by the Heart Evangelista wedding.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

When Kimiko scheduled her first design call with Anan and Everett one of the first questions she asked was ,”Tell me where design is on your priority list?” Anan did even pause and blurted out “PRETTY DARN HIGH!!!” Originally the couple was going to get married in Lake Como but shifted their focus to Hawaii when they found Haiku Mill so they wanted to use the historic sugar mill’s natural beauty to set the stage for a lush beautiful design that had a formal and dramatic feel without being austentatious or pretentious. Anan wanted to play the fine line between formal and rough while Everett wanted it to feel warm by candlelight and inviting so their intimate groups could feel connected. After Kimiko saw the bride’s dress it was pretty clear the direction they were going to head but the groom’s love for incorporating rich bold colors kept her second guessing if they should incorporate it in. In the end they all agreed that a monochromatic floral design that was a little wild and undone, filled with texture was a perfect fit for this celebration. Based on the couple’s design style at home and within their fashion choices Kimiko selected clean dramatic lighting and furniture pieces that had architectural lines and elements to them crafted by Jonas Kanahele of Artisan Events Maui.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The wedding flowers were babies breath, white hydrangeas, white peonies, white garden roses, white Larkspur, ranunculus, and phalaenopsis orchid There were pops of queen Anne’s lace and scabiosa in the centerpieces. The bride’s bouquet was a combination peonies and garden roses in a classic rounded hand-tied bouquet wrapped with an ivory ribbon. The grooms boutonniere was a single phalaenopsis orchid. The ceremony aisle featured large arrangement sitting at the last row inner aisle chairs and wrapped slightly around the front to create an organic. A mix of large fluffy hydrangea, clusters of garden roses and texture created with baby’s breath. The original request from the bride and groom was to create a hanging arrangement. Since the brides dress and train would be long and full creating a moment on the stairs was not necessary but throughout the design discussions we collectively decided that building a pillowy floral installation that almost embraced the couple as they said their vows and committed their lives to eachother after the long journey they had been on seemed like the natural choice and Kimiko always believes in investing in one focal point to create a wow affect rather than trying to spread your budget out over the entire space. The iconic stairs of Haiku Mill had never seen something quite like it so for our visual bride and groom it was hard to explain exactly how it would look but the promise was made that Bella Bloom would live up to the epic description that Kimiko had communicated which was an organic, textural, wild growing garden. There were to be no visible containers, all florals were to look as if they’re growing out of the stairs and up the railing, a style that Kimiko has been known for in natural outdoor settings such as Haiku Mill. While guests mingled at cocktail hour enjoying Beet Pipikaula on pillows of rice cakes and handcrafted cocktails created by Garnish Craft Cocktail the ceremony site was transformed into their dining room. A minimalistic design was created to allow the beauty of Haiku Mill to shine as well as the bride’s stunning dress. With a chapel length train it was recommended to the bride that she sit on a bench so her train could reach out behind her since it was part of the overall inspiration for the wedding design. On the table top, a mixture of medium and small arrangements were scattered between clusters of candles. The monochoormatic theme continued with minimal greenery and a wild, asymmetrical style with reaching stems, to compliment Anan’s dress. Deconstructed white phalanopsis orchids were laid on the top of the table amongst the candle clusters and loose stems were stratecigcally placed in order to reach out from the candles as if they wanted to touch the guests place settings.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The couple decided to focus on their unique plated dessert rather than having a wedding cake. [/field]

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The wedding embodies an enchanting blend of seaside charm and Sicilian warmth at the historic Tonnara di Scopello. Against the backdrop of turquoise Mediterranean waters, the ceremony unfolds amidst romance and tradition. The reception, set in a Mediterranean garden overlooking the Faraglioni, features vibrant tables adorned with fresh fruit and vibrant colors, complemented by flickering candles for an intimate atmosphere. Guests are treated to an authentic experience celebrating the venue’s rich history, followed by a lively Renaissance-style party in the transformed cave. It’s a magical celebration of love, music, and culinary delights under the stars.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Magda and Luke, bound by the promises they exchanged on their wedding day, embarked on a beautiful journey together. From the moment they met, their connection was undeniable, a force that pulled them toward each other with an intensity that was both fresh and familiar.

Luke, named after a Star Wars hero and embodying the spirit of giving, was the warm radiant light in Magda’s life. His determination and clarity of purpose were evident from the beginning, and Magda saw in him a partner who knew what he wanted and pursued it with unwavering commitment. The couple dreamed of creating a family together, bringing little versions of themselves into the world.

Magda, captivated by Luke’s handsome looks and unique perspective on life, found herself drawn to his captivating blue eyes. His positivity, wisdom beyond his years, and the playful moments they shared wove a beautiful tapestry of love. Luke’s love was profound, a perfect blend of tenderness and strength that allowed Magda to pour her heart into loving him wholeheartedly.

As they faced challenges, Luke’s unwavering support solidified Magda’s belief in him as the partner she wanted to grow with. His words of protection on the day of their proposal resonated in her heart, and she knew that his love would always be her shield. They embraced each other in quiet moments, choosing each other every single day, and found joy in the twists and turns that brought them closer together.

Magda’s vows reflected a commitment to love Luke unconditionally, to cherish his light, and to stand by his side through life’s storms. She vowed to make time for them, to love his family as her own, and to build a beautiful life together. Their love was a journey, and Magda eagerly anticipated the adventures it would bring.

On the other side, Luke’s vows expressed gratitude for the force that brought them together. Magda was his home, a source of familiarity and safety. Her ability to see deep into his heart revived his creativity and encouraged his silliness. With her, he felt free to be himself, dancing naked around the house and embracing the simplicity of love’s joys.

Luke promised to protect Magda, not to shield her from life’s hardships, but to face obstacles together, finding meaning in the pain. His vows were a commitment to prioritize, nurture, and cultivate their sacred bond. He pledged to lead with positivity, patience, and empathy, putting their families first and supporting each other through life’s changes.

As Magda and Luke embarked on this beautiful journey together, their promises echoed in the winds of time. They vowed to be each other’s pillars, to dance, laugh, and grow old together, finding each other in the next chapter of their eternal love story.[/field]

Summer Strawberry Wedding Inspiration at the Mayflower Inn & Spa

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]This shoot inspiration originally stemmed from a desire for more red in the wedding industry; it is punchy, fun and chic all at the same time. Elizabeth Hall first spotted Sharland England’s strawberry tablecloth and felt like it brought the perfect whimsical meets English garden feel that aligns with the Mayflower’s Celerie Kemble interiors. Sarah Worden’s lead florist, Lauren Merriam and Elizabeth worked closely to source the perfectly curated reception table. Small intricate details such as vintage wicker napkin rings from a local estate, scalloped glassware from Moda Operandi’s home line and Ginori’s stunning hand painted chargers brought this design together.

Elegant Persian Destination Wedding in Los Cabos

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Their wedding ceremony was an all white affair; the cocktail hour was a colorful fiesta, featuring a variety of cocktails of different colors and a mariachi band to showcase the beauty of Mexican culture, overlooking the pacific ocean and beautiful Cabo San Lucas. The reception included pink florals, Mexican terracotta table settings (in blue), custom pink maracas, disco balls and lots of fun elements.

Kayla and Arshia’s wedding guests traveled to Mexico from all over the world, so they wanted to create a wedding celebration that lasted all weekend long and that would include their own traditions, as well as Mexican traditions. They wanted their wedding day to be a mix of emotions from a romantic ceremony to a lively cocktail hour with a mariachi band to a dinner party and vibrant reception. They imagined every element to have a different vibe and ambiance, and they wished guests to truly feel the love we have for each other and for our friends and family. 95 guests traveled to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico from across the United States and Iran.

Groom Arshia’s 94 year old grandmother traveled from Iran with several items for the Persian Sofreh Aghd. Kayla and Arshia’s wedding ceremony incorporated two cultures and they wanted their guests to feel the love between them and the joining of two families. They had a traditional Persian Ceremony as well as an exchange of common vows following the Catholic wording which honored the bride’s religion. Their ceremony was something that many of their guests have never experienced prior. The Sohfreh Agad was beautifully curated by the groom’s family who traveled with items from Iran that were used in several family weddings prior. The groom’s Mother, Father and Sister carefully curated every item on the Sofreh Aghd to be unique and uphold Persian traditions.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Kayla and Arshia’s wedding ceremony was elegant, glam, and romantic, and dressed in white. For their ceremony they wanted a very romantic vibe. With all white flowers, piano playing as guests entered, and Sofreh Aghd – a Persian Ceremony tradition dating back hundreds of years. They wanted to honor the Persian culture and Arshia’s (groom) family/culture by incorporating both English and Farsi throughout the ceremony. Grooms grandmothers who attended the wedding are both from Iran and speak only Farsi. It was important for the couple to find an officiant who could deliver the ceremony in the many traditional aspects and both languages.

After the beautiful ceremony and exchanging of vows, rings, and a sweet honey kiss, the guests were invited to the cocktail hour overlooking the Sea of Cortez and the popular landmark of Cabo San Lucas, Land’s End. The cocktail hour was vibrant, fun, encompassing the beauty of Mexico and Mexican culture. Mariachi band led guests from the ceremony deck to the beachside cocktail hour overlooking the pacific ocean and iconic cabo arches. Guests were welcomed with an open bar and passed appetizers as the sun set over the ocean. Reception setup was bright, fun, vibrant, and indicating this will be the best party you’ve ever been to! Kayla and Arshia wanted their reception to be everything and more! For dinner they wanted guests to feel as if they were at an elevated dinner party. They perfectly coursed out service to allow for speeches between courses as well as photos and the opportunity to walk around and talk to all our guests and still enjoy the amazing dinner! They also added several elements of fun and surprises! They had a cigar roller with custom monogrammed cigar bands, 360 photo booth with their monogram, a late night food station with a neon sign “it was all a dream” and a beautiful hot pink Persian rug in the lounge area. The groom also surprised the bride with an amazing firework display! As guests partied on the dance floor to a combination of Persian, Hispanic and American music a saxophone player joined the crowd for an hour and guests couldn’t believe the fun!

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

They got engaged in Iceland! Kayla used to joke with her friends that her dream was to get engaged in Iceland and Arshia put that little nugget of info in his back pocket. They planned a trip to Iceland with their friends Kendall and Zack and Kayla’s sister and her fiance Jared. On a very cold and rainy day Arshia decided he wanted to visit Studlagil Canyon. After an attempt to get Kayla to change into a cuter outfit and the response “I’m cold; I’m wearing this” (three pairs of pants, two coats, boots, hat, and gloves) he took a deep breath and put the ring in his pocket. At the top of a rocky ledge with scenery that was unlike anything they’ve seen before he got down on one knee! It was truly such a beautiful moment with their best friends! They laugh to this day at the moments before and leading up to the proposal.

The bride wore The Huntleigh Gown with Detachable Skirt (two looks in one!) by Jane Hill. The bride’s veil was purchased along with her gown from Bridal Beginnings in Pittsburgh PA. Knowing she wanted the exquisite Jimmy Choo Pearl heels, the veil was also adorned with pearls and an overlay to cover her face (an important aspect of the Persian ceremony). Paired with Jimmy Choo heels, Cartier ring and earrings, diamond necklaces courtesy of the mother of the bride (something borrowed!). The bride’s engagement and wedding band were designed by the groom at Carnegie Jewelers in Peachtree Corners, GA. A solitaire round diamond paired with an emerald infinity band. The bride did her own hair and makeup (with an assortment of her favorite Charlotte Tilbury, Dior and Patrick Ta makeup products).

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

They did not have groomsmen or bridesmaids which made the day a lot less hectic, says Kayla. “We were able to enjoy getting ready at our own pace! We wanted everyone to enjoy their time in Mexico and not be on our schedules 100% of the time. We wanted our friends and family to enjoy the pool, beach, downtown Cabo and more as much as we have. It was so fun to then take pictures with all our friends at cocktail hour! One of my favorite pictures is my friends cheering me on as she says hi to them for the first time post ceremony! I’m so happy Romana or LA76 Photography captured this moment!”

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

The groom’s ring is Cartier trinity band with diamonds. His tuxedo is from Suit Supply with custom embroidery of the couple’s wedding date. Arshia wore Ferragamo shoes and Tom Ford glasses. Grooms bracelet is Cartier and gold cufflinks honoring his Iranian Culture – the same cufflinks as the cufflinks of his father.

For the Welcome Party we had a delicious Mexican food with food stations at Sur Beach House. For the wedding day, The Cape, A Thompson Hotel culinary team created a feast, starting with delicious appetizers during our cocktail hour, and served dinner during our reception. Later in the evening we had a Carajillo station with a cigar roller and late night food stations with mini burgers, French fries, churros, and more. Our guests raved that the food was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. Their signature cocktails were a Cucumber Margarita, with tequila, cucumber, and lime juice; a passion Heart cocktail with tequila, hibiscus, and citrus; and Italy inspired Spritz Mint with Aperol, Prosecco, and mint.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The Bridal Bouquet was all white flowers and adorned with her late grandmother’s bow pin (something old), as well as her grandmother who could not travel to the wedding’s blue rosary (something blue). The rosary also symbolized the brides Catholic faith. Ceremony used florals around the Sofreh Aghd as well as on the Sofreh Aghd. For the reception, vibrant Mexican hot pink took center stage, influencing the flowers, hand-painted maracas, and a gorgeous Persian rug. The event designers at Look at me Brides infused Mexican artistry into the plates with handmade Talavera. To ensure a lively celebration, the couple requested a dance-filled atmosphere, so they added numerous disco balls, creating a lively and energetic vibe that kept everyone on the dance floor. They used the flowers from the ceremony for the lounge room at the reception.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was the amazing Red Velvet cake. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

The couple loves the song Perfect Sympathy by Ed Sheeran featuring Andrea Bocelli. For their first dance, they started on the dance floor and once Andrea Bocelli started singing in Italian (also honoring the bride’s culture & Italian Heritage), they were joined for the Mother/Son & Father/Daughter. Together they danced with their parents while Andrea Bocelli sang and were then joined back together as their parents danced together. It was a beautiful moment! They were so happy to do something a bit different and shared their first dance with their parents! Several of their guests said they were brought to tears by the beauty of the song, dances and joining of our parents during the first dance.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

A special detail was the Ragsheh Chagoo (Persian Wedding Knife Dance), a tradition for cutting the cake! Mothers, sisters, and female family members of bride and groom families danced with the knife while tricking the groom into paying them to hand the knife over to the couple. This was such a fun moment incorporating both families into a Persian tradition dating back many years! The moment started with the groom’s mom dancing and passing the knife off to the brides sister who danced and carried on the momentum of dancing and passing the knife to the groom’s sisters, bride’s sister and cousins till the bride’s mom was handed the knife and then handed it off to the bride.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The Sofreh Aghd was set up by the Groom’s family who created the many different elements on the Sofreh Aghd. All elements were brought to Cabo from Iran and Atlanta (where the couple lives) many of the elements were used in the groom’s parents and grandparents weddings.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

As part of the Persian Ceremony they personalized pearl ornaments made in Iran for all guests. All stationary was customized and created by Mad Made. They created a ceremony pamphlet with information on the ceremony, Sofreh Aghd, and the seating chart for the reception on the back. Their invitations showcased beautiful traditions of Mexico and the iconic Cabo’s Land’s End. They designed custom maracas for all guests sat at each guests seat for the reception, and treated guests with monogrammed cigars and a cigar roller.

A Southern Spring Wedding Along the Chattahoochee River

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]A spring color palette of blues and greens, creamy whites, and pops of buttery yellow. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

From Evermore Wed: Caroline and Jason had already chosen their venue when they reached out to us for planning and design services. Their chosen venue is a 1000-acre resort nestled along the Chattahoochee River and the pine trees of southwest GA. Taking inspiration from Caroline’s classic taste, the indoor/outdoor flow of the venue, and the spring season of the wedding, we gravitated toward a palette of blues and greens, creamy whites, and pops of buttery yellow.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Caroline is a consultant, Jason is an electrical engineer. They met and began dating in high school and both attended Georgia Tech. Caroline is a classic beauty, exuding a natural, easy elegance. Jason is fun, easy-going, and loves to laugh.[/field]

Dinner was hosted in the west ballroom of The Stables. The bridal party was seated at a large estate table adorned with a lush runner of blue hydrangea (the bride’s favorite).

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The outdoor ceremony took place in front of The Stables at a large white pergola atop a cobblestone courtyard. We wanted to soften the white structure and make it feel as though it had always been there so the florist, Blooming Bouquets, covered it in wispy greenery and soft white blooms. The large ceremony space was made even more intimate with the addition of a greenery and floral covered archway that guests and wedding party entered through. For the reception decor, Each place setting featured the signature blue and white stripe on the napkin as well as on the menu. Each napkin was tied with a Southern Tribute acrylic napkin and gold leaf napkin ring that featured spring elements like magnolia blooms, dragon flies, and bees (a nod to the couples’ alma mater Georgia Tech). Classic cut crystal wine glass and water goblet added a bit of tradition to the table.

Romantic Garden Meets Country Luxury Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were dusty blue, taupe, and neutrals.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Romantic garden meets country luxury.

We wanted to fully embrace the venue’s lush landscape and rich architectural heritage to bring out a whimsical, organic aesthetic. The blend of dusty blue neutral and pops of burgundy through floral and candlelight enhanced the spirit of festivity. The soft, sophisticated design included stationery, linen, and tabletop details to create a cohesive look.

Signage is a signature piece of our love story and reflection of what we love. Custom illustrations of the cities we love to bike to, paired with individual minibikes as escort cards were a gesture of love to both ourselves and our honored guests.

The reception was designed to be an intimate style dinner, replete with a fairy-light atmosphere which allowed guests to experience a luxury garden reception they’ll never forget.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

We were living in San Francisco, and one of the things we enjoyed doing together was biking around the city with our matching bikes (for one of my birthdays James had customized a fixie for me). James proposed when we went for a typical bike ride to Presidio and dropped down to one knee among the eucalyptus trees (“Lovers Lane” in SF) on an empty weekday. We had already planned a trip to Yosemite for the day after, so we spent the weekend there after the proposal.

Customized a dress with a smaller boutique in the heart of the Garment District in NYC, called Carol Hannah. I loved organza material so I was in search of a wedding dress with that. Carol Hannah had a beautiful dress called the Reverie with organza skirt and dainty appliques. I adjusted the top to be a v-neck with thicker straps.

We also had late night pizza, as a nod to Carolyn’s parents (they got married shortly after immigrating to the US from China, and were students so could only afford serving pizza in a classroom with their close friends). [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The florals were done in taupe, crimson, and ivory with a whimsical, organic but refined, delicate aesthetic. They had a soft romantic with a touch of modern. The ceremony was held in front of a sunken garden at the venue, had a large floral arch that framed the garden in the background. The florist Mignon Floral Co. did a great job. We particularly loved the open tulips in the arrangements The decor included signage with dusty blue. A standout was the large escort sign with a map of San Francisco and little mini bikes as escort cards. Tables were named locations that James and Carolyn liked to bike to in San Francisco. Long farm tables were used for dinner, with BBJ La Tavola linen in color Tuscany Ocean, and silverware with a touch of wood.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The wedding cake was crafted by Palette Cakes, who made realistic florals on the cake based off of the wedding florals. We also had gelato from our favorite spot in SF (Phillmores creamery).

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

The ceremony included personalized vows, and the brother-in-law officiated. It also had a live performance from Laura & Anton, starting with something whimsical, Willy Wonka as the grooms escorted our Italian greyhounds down the aisle. The first dance song was “Love is a Verb” by John Mayer, the entrance song was “Butter” by BTS. Carolyn’s younger sister is a dancer and choreographed a short routine for the bridal party that they learned the morning of the wedding.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

Before the ceremony, Carolyn’s mom shared a surprise video from her grandma in China wishing her congrats. Her grandma has Alzheimers and couldn’t attend the wedding, many tears were shed. James’ dad played a Chinese classic love song, ‘The moon represents my heart’ by Teresa Tang, during cake cutting. Although that was pre-planned, he also surprised us with a short harmonica stint singing “Home Sweet Home” by John Howard Payne, at the end of his father’s speech.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Our first dance was to “Love is a Verb” by John Mayer. After many weeks of practicing, nerves got the best of us and Carolyn started too early, throwing the entire dance off. James tried to stall to catch up to the correct pace. But, at the end of the night, the DJ surprised us and played it one more time as the final song and we ran through the dance one more time with our friends and family gathered around us, swaying on the dance floor.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Ceremony – our groomsmen walked our 2 Italian greyhounds down the aisle in their little tuxedos. Also, seeing our friends and family cheering and throwing dried florals at us as we walked back down the aisle during the recessional.

A Celebration of New Beginnings in Wine Country at The Estate Yountville

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]white, green, accents of gold and sand [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Our design vision was to create an intimate and romantic atmosphere, paying homage to the beauty of Napa Valley. We aimed for an ambiance of romantic elegance, where guests could enjoy delicious food, great drinks, and lively music to celebrate and dance the night away. We envisioned the reception area as an extension of the already stunning outdoor setting and aimed for a mix of classic and modern touches that still felt inviting. Incorporating green elements for serenity and symbolism of new beginnings, we wanted the overall feel to be warm and welcoming. Ultimately, Andrew and I wanted our design to reflect who we are as a couple and for guests to feel the love we share. And of course, we wanted our friends and family to have an unforgettable time in wine country![/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]I never had a picture-perfect proposal in mind, but I knew I wanted it to be personal and intimate, just for us. Several weeks before the proposal, Andrew casually asked if I wanted to learn how to drive a boat. It caught me off guard for a moment, but since we often hang out on his family’s boat, I thought, “Why not?”. Little did I know, this seemingly ordinary decision would lead to one of the most memorable days of our lives. On the day of the proposal, we spent the entire day at the boat licensing course, laughing our way through the not-so-glamorous experience. I remember thinking, if we could get through an 8-hour boating course on a Saturday and still laugh, we could tackle anything together! Afterward, Andrew suggested we head back to his family’s lake house to “test our learnings”. When we got there, we walked towards the water and I turned around to find Andrew down on one knee, asking me to marry him —it was simple and intimate, and just true to us. It was just how I always wanted it. Afterward, we drove the boat to a nearby restaurant, where we celebrated with our close friends and family. Some were there in person, while others joined us via FaceTime. It was a relaxing and joyful moment, surrounded by the people we love, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]I found my dream wedding gown at Bergdorf Goodman—a classic A-line dress with a bow detail from Sareh Nouri. It was my first bridal appointment, but after trying on just seven dresses, I knew it was the one. To match our classic venue at the Estate in Yountville, I added a cathedral-length floral lace veil with soft paillettes. When the light hit the veil during my fitting, I could see the subtle glimmer and I almost cried! I didn’t have to look at any other dress after that.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Our main wedding color was green and my bridal party all love deeper hues, so we opted for forest green dresses for the bridal party. I loved that each of them chose different dress styles that they felt comfortable in. I loved my sister (and MOH)’s dress so much. Her tailor customized her dress to have a Peter Pan collar—a very pretty touch that perfectly reflected her personality. [/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Andrew, always the classic gentleman, had his suit custom-made from a family-owned company in NYC. His choice of a sleek black tuxedo, paired with his late father’s cufflinks and Salvatore Ferragamo loafers, was both timeless and sentimental. [/board_carousel]
[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]The food and wine was an incredibly important part of our wedding! Andrew led the charge in putting together a menu and wine selection that reflected our travels and tastes. Being Italian and from the East Coast, Andrew knows just how vital cocktail hour is—sometimes even more so than dinner! We wanted our guests to enjoy plenty of good food and drinks throughout the weekend, highlighting the fantastic culinary and wine scene of Napa. And let me tell you, Andrew nailed it perfectly!

Wine: Cavalier Bartolomeo Barolo, Faust Cabernet Sauvignon, AXR Sauvignon Blanc, and Frank Family Vineyards Chardonnay, Scribe Chardonnay and Truchard Cabernet Sauvignon.

Food: As for the rehearsal food, we had everything from the antipasti featuring Insalata di Bruxelles and Burrata Caprese to the pasta tasting of Trenne alla Bolognese. Highlights included local fish served with tomato fennel broth and citrus fennel instalatina, and a savory pork chop paired with apple passata and roasted cabbage. And let’s not forget dessert—a warm upside-down cake with pistachios and sea salt gelato (YUM!). For Cocktail hour we served hors d’oeuvres like Regiis Ova caviar with creme fraiche, chives and belinies, panko-crusted crab cakes, and juicy roasted lamb loin. Stations offered even more variety with options like poke, tacos, and artisanal pizzas. Moving into the reception, guests had Roasted Golden Beets Salad, Braised Beef Short Ribs, Grilled Local Salmon, and Vegan Ratatouille Pithivier and a warm flourless chocolate cake with balsamic strawberries for dessert! And for a late-night snack, we indulged in In-N-Out burgers and Bouchon desserts. We were too busy dancing by the time the late-night desserts were set up, but the guests let me know that the warm cookies came with a glass of milk, which is fantastic!! [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The florals were an absolute show stopper. They embodied a natural and organic feel to truly bring the outside in. There was so much texture and life event while keeping to a simple color palette. The ceremony arch was full and a statement piece that every guest wanted to take a photo in front of.

The centerpieces brought in dimension and created an inviting atmosphere inside the Social Hall.

With the rentals, we went with a soft and elevated chair to ensure a warm and cozy setting while also taking the whole look to a more sophisticated place.

They also paid homage to Choo’s Korean culture by having their menus look like traditional scrolls at the place settings.

All the signage was spectacular and hand crafted by Shimmer and Stain. Guests were in awe with the level detail and personalization involved. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Andrew and I wanted to work with a local bakery to make our cake, so choosing Bouchon Bakery in Yountville was a no-brainer. We aimed for a modern and minimalist cake design to complement our decor and venue. We decided last minute to ask our florist to incorporate the same flowers from our ceremony onto our cake and we’re happy that we did that. It tied everything together so nicely. Our flavor choice was an Almond Pain de Genes with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream. We’re still dreaming about it! [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Our vows were hands down the most memorable part for us. Once we were both at the altar, it was a bit of a blur; our officiant had advised Andrew to have a handkerchief on him, and boy did we both need it. As we shared our pledge to each other, one line in particular stood out from Andrew’s vows: “I would recognize you in total darkness, were you mute and I deaf. I would recognize you in another lifetime entirely, in different bodies, different times. And I would love you in all of this, until the very last star in the sky burnt out into oblivion. Saranghae (Korean for I Love You). It was a magical moment for us, and we couldn’t help but notice a few happy tears from our guests as well.

Processional: Bittersweet Symphony- The Verve
Bridal March Song : Canon in D Major- Pachelbel
A Sky full of stars – Coldplay
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The Jeopardy escort cards were a huge hit. Andrew and I are avid Jeopardy fans – it’s our post-work ritual, cooking dinner together while tuning in. So, when we brainstormed ideas for an interactive escort card, Jeopardy was a natural fit. With our small guest list, we had the opportunity to infuse those personalized touches. We crafted individual clues for each guest or couple, weaving in personal details about our friends and family that held significance to our relationship. As guests flipped over the wooden blocks to find their clues, we could hear everyone laughing and chatting. It was fun to see everyone sharing stories and inside jokes, figuring out their clues together. The whole process added a playful vibe to finding seats and our guests loved it! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″] Instead of using a traditional guestbook, we went for something more interactive. We set up postcards from 10 different countries and asked guests to help us pick our honeymoon destination by jotting down a note on the back of their favorite one. The votes were neck and neck, with New Zealand, France, and Japan taking the lead. In the end, Japan emerged as the winner, so that’s where we headed for our honeymoon this past January![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]I’m such a fan of destination weddings. Yountville truly added an extra special touch to our big day, especially for food and wine lovers like us! Before the wedding festivities, Andrew and I spent time walking around the main street, grabbing coffee at Bouchon and some English muffins from Model Bakery and it just felt like we belonged. We also ate at our favorite restaurants like Bistro Jeanty, and The French Laundry and shared so many fun moments with our friends and family while sipping on amazing wine! It felt like our own little village, surrounded by all our loved ones, which only added to the intimacy and charm of the whole experience. Since 99% of our guests traveled for the wedding, it made the occasion even more special and memorable for everyone involved.[/field]

1. Our guy friends mean so much to us

Lucas and Haley. Phoebe and Joey. Dawson and Joey. We all love an iconic male-female friendship. If you share a similar friendship, then you know that the bond you have with your guy friend is so special. Maybe you and your brother are incredibly close; maybe your closest confidant just happens to be a guy. Regardless, your bridal party should be filled with the friends who deeply and unreservedly love and support you. If you can’t envision your wedding day without your best guy—if everything would feel incomplete without having him there to experience it alongside you—then choosing a Man of Honor is a must.

2. Unconventional can be beautiful

If you’ve ever been a bridesmaid, then you know how liberating it is when the bride tells you to pick out the gown of your choice. The relief is overwhelming; you can wear something that you can move and breathe and feel utterly yourself in. And, when the mismatched dress motif is done well, it’s so good. The dresses feel like they belong but don’t feel too expected; the look is eclectic but cohesive, like dresses in a runway show collection.

If we no longer expect every bridesmaid to look her best in the same style of dress, then maybe we should take an equally relaxed approach to the bridal party. Male or female, friend or family—the people you love are all different, and each person brings something so special to your life. Choosing a Man of Honor isn’t about being different for the sake of being different. It’s about looking at your life and seeing who is truly there– seeing whose friendship has informed your growth and your path.

3.  Men’s fashion is so cool

On a lighter note, men’s fashion these days—it’s something else. After spending months swimming in silk and tulle, shopping for the perfect menswear looks can feel like a great palette cleanser. It’s so much fun to make a suit more dapper with a pocket square or floral-printed tie. A boutonnière—made, of course, with elements from the bride’s bouquet—feels so gallant. And shopping for a classic tux and bowtie, nothing could be more timeless.

We love the beautiful, feminine aspects of wedding planning—finding the perfect dress, curating the details and décor. But sometimes, you can get a little fatigued by all the pretty. A day spent around Italian leather and cufflinks and musky cologne just may be the cure. Men’s fashion is getting chicer all the time, and you’ll love coordinating your Man of Honor’s wedding day look.

Things to Do Differently

1.  Finding that perfect dress…

The two of you know your friendship better than anyone, and you probably innately know whether your Man of Honor wants to accompany you to the bridal salon. Is he the person you turn to when you need interior design inspo or help in an outfit crisis? Then he’s definitely going to flourish at the dress try-ons. Is he disinterested in anything remotely aesthetic? Consider planning a special outing that you’ll both enjoy instead.

2.  Planning meetings

It’s traditional for your Maid of Honor to accompany you to any and all planning meetings: trips to the florist’s studio, walkthroughs with the wedding planner, meetings with the photographer. You may have always pictured your Man of Honor in this role; maybe he has such discerning taste, that you couldn’t imagine planning a wedding without him. But if you’re unsure, a simple conversation is always the best approach. Hopefully, the two of you are close enough that you can be real while still being respectful and mindful of one another’s feelings. Ask him if he’s truly interested in helping with these planning details. And be honest, also, if you have reservations—if, for instance, you trust your mom’s taste more. If he’s not interested in fulfilling this particular role, then reassure him that he can help you in other, equally necessary ways. Reaffirm how grateful you are for his presence in your life and your planning process.

3.   Cake & catering tastings

We hate to make generalizations about guys (or anyone, for that matter), but we are fairly confident that your Man of Honor will be more than willing to attend meal and cake tastings. Maybe he’s carb-averse and this is totally not the case—if so, no worries! As always, consider your MOH’s unique strengths. If he’s a wonderful chef and foodie, then you know he’ll be in his element here. If he doesn’t know the difference between microgreens and mac ‘n cheese, then send him joyfully on his way with a seating chart.

4.  Bridal showers

Of all the things you’ll want to do differently with a Man of Honor, bridal showers are likely at the top of the list. Maybe, for your bridal shower, you’ve planned the most feminine of gatherings: a garden party, or a high tea. Can you picture your Man of Honor in this context? If so, great! But if not… what do you do?

First and foremost, always invite your Man of Honor. The last thing you want is to assume that he doesn’t want to participate… only to leave him reliving the event on Instagram. We know it’s never your intention, but if you make the decision for him, it will only make things uncomfortable. Always graciously extend an invitation, and be understanding when it comes to his response. Maybe the two of you can have a little laugh about it all if he tells you that he loves you, but the bridal shower just isn’t exactly his scene.

If the idea appeals to you, then you could consider hosting a bit of a guy-friendly party. As always, it’s most important that you make decisions that feel organic and right for you. We would never suggest that you compromise or silence your own desires in order to make your Man of Honor feel more comfortable. If you’ve always longed for a traditional, feminine bridal shower, then by all means, give yourself that experience! But if you love the idea of hosting a party that your Man of Honor can freely attend, then understand that there are so many beautiful and creative options. For winter, you could plan a lodge gathering with a Ralph Lauren vibe—black watch plaid, mugs of cider, and lots of evergreen. And for spring or summer, you could host a dinner en blanc. The point is that, if you want to plan a guy-friendly event, there’s no need to break out the flannels and, you know, go camping. You can easily pull off a party that has your signature style and grace– and feels totally Man of Honor-friendly at the same time.

5.  Bachelorette getaways

Bachelorette trips will also take on a new look when you have a Man of Honor. As with the bridal shower, we always suggest inviting your Man of Honor, even if you don’t think he’ll want to attend. That being said, we think a bachelorette party with a Man of Honor sounds all the more fun! It’s a wonderful idea to plan a trip and activities that take him into consideration—and the options are endless. You could jaunt off to a ski resort and spend a weekend on the slopes; if you and your girls want to take advantage of the spa one day, he can totally get after those snowshoeing trails (or join you for facials!). We say embrace your Man of Honor, and all the fun he can add to this getaway. If he has a sense of humor or irony, then he’ll enjoy being the lone guy in the group and fit right into the fold. If he’s not comfortable mixing with the girls all weekend, then let him express that– just be sure to first give him the option.

6.  Design a project specifically for him

Do we have any Gilmore Girls fans in the house? If that’s you, then you’ll definitely remember the moment when Luke gives Lorelai a special wedding chuppah—a gift he’d spent months building in secret. (Sure, Luke was in love with Lorelai, but let’s forget that for the moment.), While the wedding was called off, the chuppah remained; a beautiful wooden confection that Lorelai just kind of left on her front lawn and made into a garden feature. We’ve hardly ever seen a sweeter gesture of friendship– and it struck a chord because it felt distinctly like something one of our guy friends would do. While they may not always say or do the ‘perfect’ things, the men in our lives can surprise us and render us speechless over their thoughtful gestures.

As you plan your wedding, consider planning a project specifically for your Man of Honor: something that calls on all of his strengths and makes him feel useful and needed. He could build that ceremony arch or chuppah, or even a chandelier that you can use as a base for a hanging floral installation. Or, he could take care of the bar and design a signature cocktail. Maybe he wants to help with the heavy lifting of setup, or—especially if you were the kind of friends who exchanged mix tapes—he could design the ultimate reception playlist. Whatever it is, pick something that plays to his strengths, and let him know how very much it means to you.

Photography: Lauren Fair Photography

7.   Getting ready

This is another one of those potentially touchy subjects. Do you invite him to hang out in the bridal suite? Or do you have him join the groomsmen instead? What if he doesn’t know anyone on the groom’s side, and you don’t want to subject him to a potentially awkward situation? You want your Man of Honor to experience as much of the wedding day as possible– it’s the reason you chose a Man of Honor in the first place– so you’ll want to be sensitive and gracious where wedding day preparations are concerned.

It’s very likely that your Man of Honor will take the initiative here, and choose to get ready on his own, joining you later for pictures. If that’s not the case, then bring up the subject well in advance. It’s ok to simply ask him what makes him most comfortable and plan accordingly. Just consider other ways to make him feel included, and to ensure that he isn’t having a totally separate experience. For example, if he wants to get ready on his own, we think it’s super sweet to plan a bridal party brunch for earlier in the day. Be sure to insist that he join you for pre-wedding photos and special moments like group prayers. There are so many ways to carve out quality time and find little ways that make everyone in your bridal party feel loved and included!

Photography: Charla Storey Photography

8.   The ceremony

Having a Man of Honor may require you to be a little creative when it comes to designing your ceremony processional. It makes linking up bridesmaids and groomsmen a little trickier—and you may not want to send your MOH down the aisle alone. In this instance, we think it’s easier to send everyone down the aisle to walk, runway style, on their own. Designing your processional this way may make the run time a bit longer—but that means you get to include another one of your favorite songs, right?

Photography: Ryan Ray Photography

9.  Bonus Points: ‘Will You Be My Man of Honor?’

There’s nothing quite like finding the perfect, personalized gift—one that feels tailor-made for your friend. We love the idea of asking him to be your Man of Honor via airmail. Consider sending him a leather-bound flask (we love the ultra-cool designs by Jacob Bromwell) or a handsome pair of cufflinks. Wrap your gift in guy-friendly paper—black or plaid, with a bit of black velvet ribbon, and a sprig of cedar or eucalyptus. Include a short but sweet note culminating in the question, Will You Be My Man of Honor? It will set the tone for a beautiful planning process with your best friend at your side.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]In the heart of Paso Robles, California, where sprawling vineyards meet endless skies, Sarah, owner and lead planner at Embark Event Design embarked on the most magical journey of her life – designing her own wedding at the picturesque Ella’s Vineyard.
Sarah infused her signature style into every aspect of the wedding. Embracing the serene backdrop of the vineyard, she opted for a palette of soft blues, a nod to classic elegance that complemented the natural surroundings with effortless grace.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]After producing a multi day wedding weekend, Sarah was exhausted on a September Sunday morning but agreed to go kayaking to unwind. Completely unaware of the big plans that Bobby had for that foggy, cozy morning – Sarah threw on the first thing she saw and hopped in the car. After the couple beached their kayaks on a hidden lighthouse beach that the couple had one of their first dates on, they walked up to the lighthouse and took in the view. Sarah was completely surprised and absolutely over the moon when Bobby pulled out the ring of her dreams and proposed! The couple enjoyed their first engaged moments on the beach and then raced back to call friends and family to celebrate. [/field]

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Sarah has spent her whole career building her business as a luxury wedding planner in California’s wine country. When Sarah met her now husband, Bobby, who is in his first year out of residency as an anesthesiologist, she knew immediately that he was the one. The two met at the height of covid, which made “normal” dating problematic. They spent a lot of time with the bride’s family since going out was not really an option at the time. At the rehearsal dinner the bride’s brother-in-law gave a toast and at the wedding the bride’s sister gave her toast. Unbeknownst to them, they would be making the same joke that they also fell in love with Bobby immediately and “might have cried” when he left that first night.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]While Sarah is used to planning high-end weddings for other couples, planning her own wedding was something a bit different. She knew she would need to bring her wedding vision to life in a way that was true to hers and Bobby’s priorities and uniquities, while still using her expertise to guide that vision to life in a way that all in attendance were proclaiming was extraordinary, sophisticated and FUN. The vibe was both warm and chic with long farm tables adorned with the most beautiful blue floral tablecloths by Theoni. The setting was awe-inspiring since the property sits atop a hill boasting 360 degree views of the vineyards.[/field]

A Sunny & Stylish Mid-Week Wedding in Florida

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Before dating, Dennis and I were unknowingly living within 2 miles of one another without ever having crossed paths. We, instead, initially met and began dating via bumble! I was working locally in Orlando as a CVICU nurse and Dennis was completing his final year of medical residency. Upon graduating, Dennis took his first job as a physician in Mississippi. Thus began our long-distance relationship status which continued on for another year-and-a-half before we ended up tying the knot!

I am a Florida transplant. As such, the bulk of my closest friends and family reside out-of-state. Dennis would often make the drive down to see me, and I would fly up to see him. Like Dennis, my best girlfriends traveled to enjoy both me and the beautiful Florida weather. The girls and I had spent the better of three months planning a girl’s trip to Florida with overlapping time off and a beach-centered itinerary. I was beyond excited to have two of my besties simultaneously visiting from Texas.

I frequently shared the excitement about the girl’s only trip with Dennis, which is why it came as a shock that he decided to join in on the trip at the last minute and without an invitation. I kindly reiterated that it was a “girl’s trip,” but he insisted that he wouldn’t be in our way. He also highlighted that it would afford him the opportunity to meet one of my best friends he had yet to meet, which he knew was highly important to me. So, I had to break it to the girls that Dennis would be crashing our trip.

Once the ladies Krystal and Rebecca had arrived, we prepped and shopped for an epic beach vacation. Dennis arrived shortly thereafter allowing the ladies and Dennis to get to know one another better. Rebecca, who has a discerning eye for people of poor character, approved of Dennis straight away.

After a day spent learning about one another, we planned for a beach excursion the following day. Dennis insisted we go alone to enjoy our “girl time” and that he would be perfectly content catching up with his local friends during the day while we were away.

The following day Krystal, myself and Rebecca headed to Siesta Key where we enjoyed sand, sea, and mini doughnuts — so many mini doughnuts. We spent the entire day there and packed up late in the afternoon to return home.

I was driving while the girls and I chatted. It was Rebecca’s birthday so I had Krystal secretly message Dennis to ask that he procure a surprise birthday cake while we made the trek home. Following this, Kryss seemed highly engrossed in a stream of texting. I asked her if everything was okay, and she replied that she and her husband were sending each other spicy messages and that this was something they did when traveling away from one another. My inquisition into her texting promptly ended at that response.

Once we arrived home, I saw that my home’s pool area was illuminated with all of the market lights, so I assumed Dennis was enjoying some high quality R&R out back. I parked the car and began unloading all of the sandy beach equipment and garbage we had arrived back with. Kryss insisted we go inside to ask Dennis to come out and help us unload. I scoffed with some level of offense and replied that I live alone, am physically fit, and can unload everything myself.

As I threw the trash into the outside garbage bin I saw the bin was filled with flower stems, but stems alone without blooms. I thought to myself “Man, Dennis really went all out for Rebecca’s birthday! I can’t wait to see the cake!”

The girls kept at their attempts to usher me towards the inside of the house. I finally complied and as I opened the door to the interior I was met with a trail of rose petals that directed me towards the back pool area. I followed the path of roses, and as I did the octave of my voice climbed as I asked the girls what was happening. I hadn’t realized they were videotaping. Dennis had alerted them to his scheme, but only as recently as the drive home from the beach.

I rounded the corner and approached the pool area glass sliders where I fell to my knees and sobbed as I saw a sharply dressed Dennis standing atop a heart-shaped bed of rose petals, surrounded by tea candles, and backed by a lit chiminea. He had plucked all of the rose petals himself, and those rose stems in the trash weren’t for Rebecca. They were for me! As I approached him, he dropped to one knee and offered me what will be one of my greatest blessings by asking for my hand in marriage.

“Telina, you are the woman of my dreams, the love of my life, and the answer to my prayer. Will you give me the honor of being my wife?”

It became clear. He wasn’t crashing the girl’s trip. No, instead he had driven 10 hours one-way, spent the day plucking petals off of roses, staged the backyard, stood in 80-degree weather wearing a dress suit while surrounded by fire (as I took my sweet time unloading a car), and then mustered the courage to propose to me in front of my closest friends. He did it all because he wanted me to experience the proposal while loved ones were with me to celebrate. And yes, he also managed to get Rebecca a delicious cake. [/field]

Their relationship started on the value deck of the Oakland A’s infamous stadium, best known for its “old-school charm.” Alex, off a couple of seasons living and working in Alabama was working for the A’s media department, and Tessa was working her fun job – running around with the mascot and camera crew. On this day in 2014, Tessa was giving away an autographed baseball bat to a kid. From there, Alex came over and said hi briefly. Despite never running into each other before, they continued to bump into each other during that homestand. Shortly thereafter, Tessa solo trekked around Alaska and Alex left for Melbourne, Australia. It never seemed as if their paths would cross again, but they continued to stay in touch. Everyday. For three straight months. Fast forward eight years, four states, a dog, and an appearance on HGTV’s HouseHunters later, the bride and groom got engaged on January 8, 2022 on the beach in Corona Del Mar, California, a special place for the family where they celebrate holidays and picnic often. After a spa day for her birthday, Tessa arrived at the beach with a perfect sunset, a blanket and bed of roses in front of her, and a sign on their dog saying “Mom, will you marry dad?” The bride said yes, the couple and family celebrated on the beach and then finished off the night at karaoke, where the bride’s friends flew in and surprised her.

The bride worked with stylist AISLE to create a lookbook of floor-length dresses in shades of green that could be personalized to the bridesmaids’ personal tastes. The Bel Air Bay Club handled the catering for the evening. We had some fun with the wedding menu – there was a poke station during cocktail hour, amid the tray passed appetizers. Mr & Mrs Creamery contributed a Boba station, as well, which was a very playful surprise for the guests to enjoy. Later in the night, the In-N-Out truck rolled up, WOWing the out of town East-Coasters, whom some, had never had it before!

Our florals were a statement; bright and colorful at the beginning of January for a breath of fresh air. Joy of Bloom Floralshad us speechless with her creativity and beautiful designs. Stationary and signage, from the giant escort wall to the tiny details like the name cards, were from Beau Paperie.

Mr & Mrs Creamery designed an elegant, smooth white 2-tier cake, with funfetti inside – as beautiful as it was delicious! The colorful florals added a special touch that really gave it the ‘WOW’ factor and kept everything on theme. They also provided boba tea, push up ice cream desserts, and light up cotton candy for the guests. There was such a fun assortment that was fulfilling for guests when the sweet tooth hit!

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

The ceremony started with the talented violinist Ben Hoyt who played Lana Del Rey’s ‘Young and Beautiful’ as the bride walked down the aisle with both parents by her side. At the end of the night, after all the guests had left, the bride and groom had one private last dance to ‘Colors’ by the Black Pumas, a song special to them because they had seen the band live.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

Always Allegra & Beau Paperie designed an escort wall that brought the East Coast guests a bit more understanding of exactly where they were in California – right on the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway). Our bride knew she wanted a disco ball moment, yet we were stirring our brains around how to make that piece fall into place with the overall scape. We came up with a wall with a motorized disco ball hanging from it – an original title we’ve never seen before, and a take-away for all guests to walk away with. The motel keychain had “Party on PCH” engraved on one side, while the guests’ names and table numbers were on the other. The escort wall read “Party on Pacific Coast Highway”

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

While hosting the poke station through the Bel Air Bay Club‘s catering, we added a little twist to the offering. We provided Chinese take-out containers for the poke to be served in which was a quiet nod to Tessa’s culture and background – representing double happiness. Uniting two as one in such a meaningful way!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The Groom, the East-Coaster that he is, paid a tribute to the California based fast food joint — In-N-Out; quite the novelty for east coast guests to enjoy. Towards the end of the event, the semi rolling into the event and surprised guests for yet another round of tasty bites. It was quite the way to end such an amazing event![/field]
