A Classic Bride’s Dream Wedding at Duke Mansion

All-white weddings will always hold a special place in our hearts – with that being said, today is a very happy day over here on SMP. Everything from white peony-filled arrangements from Katelyn Pinner Studio to a three-tiered, ruffle cake by Suarez Bakery – to be honest, we’re kind of at a loss for words trying to describe the beauty of this wedding day. Love & Honey Wed planned every flawless detail while Cathy Durig captured photos that have us weak at the knees. Keep on scrolling and allow us to bless your screens with this classic, Duke Mansion dream…

From the bride… We chose the Duke Mansion in Charlotte, North Carolina for its grand nature and rich history that sits on a property full of hidden details including secret gardens, a brick paved side terrace, and hundred-year-old oak trees lining the property.

We were married on the back lawn of the mansion in an outdoor garden ceremony under a luscious floral draped pergola. We utilized a soft floral design palette and did our best to emphasize the surrounding gardens of the historic venue to create a seamless design. My bridal bouquet incorporated a piece of my mother’s veil from her wedding day, which I surprised her with on the day.

After the ceremony, guests were invited to cocktail hour on an adjoining patio where they were greeted with our signature drink – Prosecco Pops. We sourced locally crafted popsicles (King of Pops) and accompanied them with a splash of Prosecco. Guests wandered the gardens before dinner and found their hand calligraphed seating assignments hung on our DIY linen-backed frame my groom and I had crafted from an antique mirror (which we finished only 24 hours before our wedding).

The reception featured a grand head table which included a long row of oak tables draped in a soft runner, candles, and organic florals by Katelyn Pinner Studio. Our guests dined beneath rows of twinkle lights draped in lush greenery which brought the charm of the gardens into the reception.

As our guests continued to enjoy dancing, cocktails, and the late night grilled cheese and tomato soup shooters, we were pulled outside to the reception terrace where our photographer, Cathy Durig surprised us with a head table filled with candles.

We danced around the table and soaked in every minute of newlywed bliss – just the two of us. The special touches of our day, from the hand-calligraphed paper goods and gold foil napkins to our specially arranged welcome boxes and an epic sparkler exit, made it truly memorable.

Dreamy Amalfi Coast Elopement at Belmond Hotel Caruso in Ravello

I’m officially convinced. The Amalfi Coast is the dreamiest place ever to say I do—and Belmond Hotel Caruso is hands down one of the most charming backdrops to do it. No, this isn’t #sponsored my friends… this is just me having a straight up major venue crush moment. To make it all the more romantic, today’s gorgeous couple decided to elope here before their traditional Indian wedding at home. Lace & Luce joined to capture every step of the way and I have a feeling you’ll be spending a little extra time with this one.

[iframe http://www.youtube.com/embed/X8Uv6P5aI1g 600 338]

From Lace & LuceBeing based on the Amalfi Coast I absolutely love photographing elopements, there is something so romantic to me about having something special, that is just for the two of you. It is even more exciting when the couple doesn’t tell anyone they are eloping and wait to surprise everyone with photos from their Italian elopement at their traditional Indian wedding when they return home. My favourite location for elopements is definitely Ravello, being there, up in the clouds feels surreal, a literal dream. This couple had their entire day at the Belmond Caruso, from getting ready in their upgraded suite (Thanks to the hotel), to their private dinner on the terrace. They were the first couple to have the “Chef’s table” for their elopement, it is a tiny little terrace with the most beautiful view. The perfect end to their fairytale day.

When Ishra contacted me about eloping we managed to organize her dream elopement quickly in about a month. They wanted something special, for just the two of them before have their big traditional Indian wedding back at home in Vancouver.

A Winter Wedding at Boone Hall Plantation With All “The Notebook” Vibes

If Allie and Noah are forever your favorite onscreen couple – we’re betting you had no idea you could get married at Allie’s house in the movie! Yup, that’s right. Boone Hall Plantation, just twenty minutes outside of charming Charleston, will make all your Nicholas Sparks dreams come true (minus the heartache). Oh, and did we mention Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds also tied the knot here? #goals… Today we’re sharing a gorgeous winter wedding captured by Virgil Bunao Photography and planned by Sweetgrass Social Event + Design that reveals all this romantic venue has to offer. From enchanting live oak trees covered in Spanish moss to the bride’s timeless style – keep on scrolling to see every last detail.

After noticing many mutual friends on Facebook, Steve went out on a limb and sent Jennifer a message asking if she’d be interested in getting together for a drink. The date that followed (at Stars Rooftop Bar in Charleston) led to a beautiful relationship. When the duo decided to make it official, Jennifer had a clear vision of what she wanted for the big day.

“The church was an easy decision! My identical twin sister was married at Trinity United Methodist two years prior and I wanted the same priest to marry me and Steve”, said the bride.

The couple then selected their reception venue – Boone Hall Plantation’s Cotton Dock. The rustic setting and riverfront views were perfect for the evening Jennifer had in mind. “We got married in January and I wanted a winter wonderland feel. I wanted lots of silvers, blues, greenery, and pops of deep red. I also wanted low lighting and candles everywhere! We had two live burning fires going. It was warm, cozy, and romantic.”

Jacqueline Volz of Sweetgrass Social and The Flower Cottage brought Jennifer’s dream day to life and luckily, photographer Virgil Bunao was on hand to capture each thoughtful detail. Jennifer’s elegant bride attire included a Legends by Romona Keveza dress and bolero, a veil borrowed from her twin, and earrings from her husband – a wedding day gift!

This Al Fresco Dancing Pines Wedding Is a Breath Of Fresh Air

We love a bride who knows how to embrace Mother Nature’s boundless beauty, allowing the organic elements of her surroundings inspire the overall wedding décor. Ashley and Matt tied the knot amongst the towering trees of Tahoe – we can only imagine the heavenly scent of fresh pines blowing in the breeze… ugh *lights Christmas candle*. Mandy Ford captured the grandeur of the scenery while perfectly illustrating the intimacy of the day. Love and Lupines’ organic florals found a way to enhance the beauty of Dancing Pines, keeping to a fresh color scheme of green and white. Check out every detail here and prepare to fall in love!

Ashley and Matt are seriously the perfect pair! I loved watching their reaction when they first saw one another during their first look. They both seemed to instantly relax and feel at ease by the other’s presence.

I can count on more than 2 hands where I would glance to a far corner of the wedding and see them alone, enjoying their time together. It’s not often couples find the time to truly sneak away and enjoy their day together.

It’s no wonder the two are as sweet and loving as they are. They both come from tight-knit families with a loving bond, and killer sense of humor! Because Ashley and Matt’s Dancing Pines wedding was an al fresco dinner under the stars, the evening continued to gain beauty as the sun set.

The couple chose table numbers with a National Parks theme, showcasing some of their favorite hiking destinations. Lush florals by Love and Lupines garnished the wooden tables. Butter and Salt Catering catered the event, and I love how their artisan bread loaves and volcanic rock sauce dishes enhanced the organic, al fresco decor.

Brian Hess provided live music during dinner, and had the dance floor full once the party started. As always, I love working weddings alongside one of my favorite videographers, Tony Castaneda Films. I can’t wait to see the video footage he captured from Ashley and Matt’s Dancing Pines Wedding. This wedding was definitely one for the record books!

Elegant Indian Wedding Celebration in Malibu Hills

Jacqueline and Rohin might be one of the most captivating couple’s I’ve ever seen and their wedding celebrations, equally charming. We’re busting open part two of their wildly beautiful I dos. While this morning’s traditional Indian ceremony feature was painted with the prettiest hues, day two took on a softer, dreamy palette that compliments the Malibu Hills so perfectly. A dream made possible by So Happi Together and captured with precision by Sally Pinera—come along for the complete celebration!

From Sally PineraContinuing Jacqueline and Rohin’s festivities from Day 1 with a colorful Indian celebration, Day 2 featured a gorgeous soft hue palette Western wedding with gorgeous and sophisticated elements. With sunny Malibu hills as their backdrop, Jacqueline and Rohin got married under a beautifully bloomed arch. Guests enjoyed oysters and cocktail as the two enjoyed their wedding party and each other. An elegantly draped tent awaited the guests while speeches, dances and laughter filled into the night.

A Corpus Christi Country Club Wedding of Timeless Elegance

There is so much beauty in simplicity – and this wedding captured by Honey Gem Creative is all the proof we’ll ever need! Every detail of this gorgeous day at Corpus Christi Country Club was planned entirely by the bride herself – how impressive is that!? She drew inspiration from their gold, custom monogram and a classic color scheme of crisp white and emerald green. With a little help from Razzle Dazz, her floral vision was brought to life in timeless arrangements of ivory roses, Italian ruscus and white hydrangea. Be sure to scroll all the way to the end for the bride’s one (very important) piece of advice for all future bride-to-be’s!

From the Bride… August 04, 2018 will be a day both Michael and I will hold close to our hearts for the rest of our lives. Michael and I dated ten years before getting married so for both of us, it is still so surreal that we are married. That ten year journey was so sweet but moving forward as a married couple is far sweeter than we could have ever imagined. One of the first things Michael said to me after getting engaged was ‘I don’t want a long engagement!’. So, fast forward a quick eight months, it was our wedding day.

So, fast forward a quick eight months, it was our wedding day. I went into full wedding planning mode following the day we were engaged up until the day of our wedding. Michael and I both love things simple and classic. We envisioned a lot of greenery with white floral so I based everything else around this. Our centerpieces, bridal and bridesmaid bouquets, sweetheart table and various other elements of the ceremony and reception were adorned with various ivory roses, Italian ruscus, and white hydrangea.

It was simply stunning! It was just what we had envisioned: simple, classic and elegant. What was so special to me about our wedding was that I created and designed nearly every aspect of the decor. In an effort to be wise on budgeting (Who am I kidding? I couldn’t stop finding cute things to do and to get!), I didn’t collaborate with a planner or coordinator. I started with a blank slate and thought out what would best illustrate Michael and I together. I had a custom monogram with our initials created and included this in as many details as possible from the invitations, a large laser-etched Monogram on a boxwood wall in the foyer of the reception, gold foiled cocktail napkins, a sticker to place on top of the packaging of the late night snacks, to the dinner menus placed on each place setting.

Throughout planning, Michael would always comment on how much he loved the monogram. And to me, it made seeing all of that planning with our monogram throughout our wedding day come to life even better. There are so many things about that day that make me emotional still today. The absolute sweetest moment of the night was after everyone had finished giving their toasts, Michael went up to say a brief ‘Thank you’ to our guests. After he was finished, he surprised me and sang ‘Grow Old with You’ by Adam Sandler from The Wedding Singer to me. The most I had ever heard Michael sing is when we are together in the car listening to my Taylor Swift on constant repeat. Never did I suspect he would get up in front of hundreds of guests and sing to me. I will never stop replaying that in my head. I am still in awe of him doing that. Another was our surprise donut bar for our guests with the option to infuse their donut or donut hole with alcohol. It was so fun!

If there was one piece of advice I could give to brides-to-be, it is to remember to glance over at your new spouse and admire them throughout your wedding day when you get a chance. When things are going a mile a minute that day, looking over at them is the sweetest, most special feeling. It was truly such a magical day.

From the Photographer… One tip I wanted to share about this wedding was planning with your brides to ensure that there is time to shoot all her details. Since this was a church wedding followed by a reception a little more planning was involved. Emily had put so much effort into her design and we wanted to ensure that all of those details were captured. Emily and I spoke with the venue and they agreed to move cocktail hour to the lobby and lock the reception space until after cocktail hour so we could capture it. Planning this ahead of time was so important. If this had not been planned guests would have entered the space during cocktail hour and we wouldn’t have been able to shoot the space for Emily. The key here is reviewing the timeline and communication ahead of time.

Elegant Pink Wedding at Chateau De Robernier in France

Did you have a chance to peek at this morning’s stunner fete?! It was the very own wedding of the creative geniuses behind White Eden Weddings, Mylène and Geoffrey. Her dress is to DIE. So pretty. We’re back this afternoon with another Big Day they planned in the South of France and it’s equally as gorgeous. With photography by Julie Michaelsen, you’ll have to decide which moment is your personal fave, because there are too many. Mine happens to be this one—all the excitement! Dive into the full gallery for more.

Now sit back, relax and soak in a few minutes of film from cinematographer, Matthias Guerin as Kristen & Aaron exchange some pretty great personal vows and a day filled with the perfect balance of tradition, culture and contemporary fun!
[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/300844486 600 338]

From White Eden WeddingsKristen & Aaron’s wedding planning started a bit over a year before the big day and was lead by three key words: refined, French and fun! Both the aesthetics and the experience were important to them, especially that their guests travelled overseas to celebrate their marriage and spent several days in the South of France. It all started with the venue’s choice, and this incredible chateau in the middle of the vineyards & the olive groves in Provence was a must for K&A. Having such a playground was also amazing for us, as we had tens of possibilities, opportunities and ideas to create a unique and beautiful wedding.

Kristen & Aaron lived New York until early September and actually quit their jobs and apartment to travel the world for 6 months. Talk about honeymoon goals! Their wedding was a very special celebration in the sense that it was also the start of this beautiful adventure. Having fun, taking the time to enjoy special moments with their dearest and closest family & friends was then definitely more than a goal, it was a priority.

Kristen & Aaron were both very busy at work and school during the planning and relied on us to put their vision together. We started the styling with a very soft color palette, which included beige, various shades of light pink (Kristen’s all time favorite), gold & shades of green and featured original attentions and creations. We created for instance a petal bar so that guests could create their own petals cones to toss to the newlyweds at the end of the ceremony, with their favorite flowers & colors.

Both the ceremony & reception were designed with consistency, with of course the same color palette but also while keeping in mind to have everyone feeling comfortable during the entire celebrations. The ceremony’s florals path created by the great Sister’s & Blush Florals Studio perfectly enhanced the will of giving a bespoke look to this special day and adding a natural feel to the very refined venue.

The dinner area was also very special and detail-oriented. Kristen’s favorite flower is peony, so we chose beautiful plates with pink peonies and touches of gold to perfectly meet her tastes! Their bespoke and calligraphed day stationery by the talented Silent Word Studio, their unique candlelit sweetheart table and the customized wall of choux (these local French pastries) were some details that really made their wedding warmhearted and pretty, as beautifully captured by Julie Michaelsen.

They day after their massive party – they danced until 4am (!), everyone enjoyed an easy-going recovery brunch in front of the Chateau, by (and in) the pool with a laid-back, in a musical and warm atmosphere.

A Wedding for Food Lovers at Perla Restaurant in Puerto Rico

“The best moments of our lives have happened when we are eating and drinking with people that we love.” …words from the beautiful Bride, and I couldn’t agree more. She is in the food and wine industry and her Groom designs restaurants, hotels and bars as an architect. For this foodie-loving duo, an appropriate celebration at Perla Restaurant in Puerto Rico was just the experience they wanted to give their guests and remember their Big Day by. Complete with florals from STEM Events, every darling bit was snapped up by Lucky You Weddings for us to soak in today!

From STEM EventsSay Cheese and she will smile. And she smiled when she saw the restaurant with the decor she wanted to have when she entered the room. With her fluffy dress and great smile she said to her husband: “look Jean Paul this is what I wanted”, – and my job was done. I prepared Melissa a bouquet of Garden Roses but I included Salvia, Rosemary and Olive Branches. I got inspired by everything related to wine and cheese and cooking ingredients. Herbs, mint julep vases or grapes were among my decor choices. This wedding was all about her beauty in her fluffy dress that made her look like a young Grace Kelley and the great food and wine everybody enjoyed at the iconic restaurant.

From the Bride… My husband and I are both lovers of good food and wine. The best moments of our lives have happened when we are eating and drinking with people that we love. I have been in the food and wine industry since I started my career. My husband also designs restaurants, hotels and bars at his Architecture job. We both have French and Spanish ancestry. We knew from the start that we had to incorporate our heritage and passions into every detail of the wedding. Perla Restaurant at La Concha Resort is an architectural landmark at our hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Anabelle did a fabulous job in capturing our idea of making our wedding a culinary and cultural experience, and the decor was thematic and beautiful. Our love for each other and for our families combined with all of the beautiful details of our special day made the wedding perfect. We couldn’t be happier!

A Wedding Planner Duo Says I Do in the French Riviera

Meet Mylène and Geoffrey—the power wedding planning duo behind White Eden Weddings. No, they didn’t just plan this gorgeous wedding you’re about to experience… they are the beautiful Bride & Groom. As they do with all of the weddings they design, they poured their heart and soul (with a little extra love) into this Big Day and they’re giving us the most incredible behind the scenes of every detail. With moments to live on forever, thanks to Tatyana ChaikoVicky Lamburn and Matthias Guerin, it’s without question a French Riviera wedding dream turned reality.

From the Bride… An enchanted interlude; this is to us what a wedding should be. When it came to our wedding, we wanted it to be an interlude for us, an interlude from the wedding season, and for our guests, we wanted it to be an unforgettable interlude, out of time, as many of them don’t live in Cannes and were traveling for the occasion.

In order to enjoy as long as possible this special day, we’ve had quite a unusual schedule for the day starting with early drinks & canapés in lieu of lunch around the pool to welcome our guests. This first part was entirely experience oriented! We just wanted everyone to spend a great moment and have time to greet our guests before the ceremony. Our rehearsal dinner the night before was only with our bridal party and very close family, so that was the perfect occasion to catch up with everyone.

We got engaged in December 2016 and we took a year and half to refine and think of every moment and every detail that would help build the perfect day. We are both very family oriented and getting married in Geoffrey’s grand parents’ home was very meaningful and very inspiring.

The ceremony… let’s talk about it! As destination wedding planners, we’ve seen and help creating many of them, but it was finally our turn, and God only knows why, we were stressing over it until the last minute! It turned out to be the most special, moving and magical moment of the day that no words can describe.

The ceremony happened in the middle of the afternoon and was sheltered by a ceiling made of flowers and greenery which created a very intimate and fresh space in the middle of the domaine’s garden. The ceremony itself was officiated by our witness, who happened to be the genius guy who introduced us six years ago, back in Moscow, Russia! It was punctuated by a peonies’ ritual (don’t even google it, it doesn’t exist, but we thought, why not creating our own ritual?). Peonies are our favorite flowers and we wanted it to symbolize our marriage by bringing together two beautiful ones in a vase which symbolized our union. The ceremony was followed by a sweet cocktail hour, literally! Ice creams, pastries & champagne were to us the best way to celebrate such an emotional moment until the sunset.

We wanted the reception to be great but a different experience for everyone. We wanted it to be glamorous but really fun! We had an alfresco dinner and party, overlooking Cannes bay which was simply the best thing we could have hoped for, and it was a blast! We played with our theme in order to create beautiful table arrangements, with tones of soft pink in the flowers and white & gold table setting displayed on bespoke linens.

Refined, bespoke & consistent. This is our line when it comes to style weddings and ours was no exception. We really are into details, and we pay attention to every single of them so they can create an overall consistent styling. From the choice of the linens to the exact foliage or even the escort cards’ table display, we wanted the decor itself to tell a story.

We truly love the place where we got married, not only because it’s sentimentally close to our hearts, but because it’s naturally really beautiful. We chose not to add much in terms of colors in order to let the beauty of the place express, so we went for neutral and soft hues, light blush, cream, and greens

As we both love music, we’ve had several bands and musicians throughout the day to entertain and create a nice atmosphere.

We hired a sketch artist, Märta Wydler to create both an entertainment for everyone (our guests loved coming back and forth watching the evolution of the painting and were so happy to see the finale result!) but also a unique piece of art for us.

In order to keep a great ambiance, we had a strolling band going from tables to tables playing on demand songs and getting the party started. Our amazing DJ Thomas Dusseune took over and got us dancing until 4am under the stars. It was truly the best day and party we could have hoped for!

I think that having designed weddings for years, we knew just how important the choice of who’s on your team really is! There’s nothing better to be confident and to know that everything will be perfectly handled on your wedding day by the vendors you’ve chosen. As wedding planners it was obviously a bit special for us as we have had the very best team we could dream of and several of them actually became friends throughout the years.

Tell us anything and everything else you can think of! Inquiring minds want to know!

Ambiance Vision: We knew that our day schedule was not common and was longer than most weddings, so it was extremely important to entertain our guests and make them feel as comfortable as possible. We also know from our business, that atmosphere is the key and -to us- it’s useless to plan a beautiful wedding if you don’t have a great atmosphere and if everyone doesn’t spend a great day.

Cool/Fun/Quirky Details: Well… We can say it, we both are Swifties and have contacted Taylor Swift to ask if she was available to perform at the wedding (we knew she was in Europe at that time for her tour)! Her agent kindly told us it was not even possible to consider this as she wouldn’t take any extra performance during the tour (so we unfortunately wouldn’t be the extra date of her European trip!). However, knowing how destroyed we were (of course, just kidding) our witnesses have recreated Taylor’s Shake it off video clip featuring most of the guests of the wedding and they played it at the end of the dinner! Of course we weren’t aware of this; and if we usually are not big fans of video surprises during wedding, this one was an hilarious one and we really had so much fun!

Although we always encourage our couples to do their first dance, but we actually didn’t do ours! We went to dance classes, learnt waltz, rumba… but it just really wasn’t for us! Instead of stressing over this, we really bet on our entrance at dinner. And it was such a blast! Our song was « Baby » by Bakermat, we had a live saxophonist who played over the song, we went between all tables, high fiving everyone, everybody was dancing, clapping, having fun, we were carried by the enthusiasm and kindness, these were 5 amazing minutes and set the festive tone for the night. To us, much better than an awkward first dance!

Most memorable moment: The ceremony, definitely! A true, sincere and unforgettable moment! Every word was meant, every moment was joyful. We’ve had 4 speakers during the ceremony, our 3 witnesses and Mylene’s mom, each of them read speeches they had written themselves; it was simply moving, fun and kind. We wrote our own vows and from perspective, that’s the best decision we’ve made about our ceremony. So yes, it takes time and it’s a bit more stressful than classic vows, but 100% worth it. Besides, we’re so happy that we bought Elmo Paperstories’ stylish velvet vows books, they’re the best way to make sure you keep your vows after the wedding day and you can read them anytime you feel like it.

Putting Disney Weddings to Shame at Greystone Mansion

If you’re looking for wedding inspiration that puts Disney movies to shame – look no further, we’ve got you covered. It only took one quick glimpse at this enchanting wedding captured by Rebecca Yale Photography for us to be head-over-glass slippers in love. Greystone Mansion provided the perfect setting for the fairytale-inspired nuptials, alive with pale pink and cream blooms by Unique Floral Designs. Guests sipped champagne and celebrated the newlyweds in the courtyard reception of our dreams, coordinated and designed by Encore Event Design. But our favorite part of all? The way he looks at her… prepare for major heart-eyes ahead.

Brooke and Alex were married at the gorgeous Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills on a sun-soaked day in Southern California. Brooke got ready to walk down the aisle with a little help from her best girl friends and a bit of bubbly.

Planner Leslie Kaplan of Encore Events, embraced the old world elegance and fairytale aesthetic of the venue, keeping classic with cream and green floral elements and pops of mauve.

The ceremony took place in a beautiful garden in front of a historic fountain flanked by lush florals from Unique Floral Designs on podiums. Guests showered petals on the newlyweds as they receded down the aisle, which were provided in custom printed pouches that also served as ceremony programs.

Guests enjoyed a beautiful cocktail hour in the mansion’s side balcony, watching the sun begin to set over Los Angeles, while the couple took a moment alone as bride and groom for some newlywed portraits in the golden light.

Before guests arrived at the reception, the bride and groom entered the courtyard hand-in-hand for a first look at their vision brought to life, a special moment they will cherish together for many years to come.

Guests dined and danced the night away under the stars and sent the bride and groom off with a fun ribbon exit, a brilliant alternative to sparklers when they’re not allowed!

Irish Wedding Reception at the Charming Patrick Haley Mansion

There are three things that made me fall in love with weddings… the photography, the flowers and the venues. Those were my top three priorities when planning my own wedding a few years back—especially the latter! Your church might already be etched in stone for the ceremony, but finding a reception venue that sings to you and your collective wedding style is so, so important. And for this fete, the beautiful Patrick Haley Mansion was it. Full of charm, it was the perfect setting for the celebration after McKenna and Matt exchanged romantic Irish I do’s at St. Joseph Chapel — all captured by Elizabeth Nord. Images like this one are sure to warm your heart a little extra today.

From Elizabeth Nord Photography… As I walked into McKenna’s parent’s home that morning, McKenna was getting her hair done and I greeted her with a big hug! She already had an array of stunning details waiting for me to choose from … Badgley Mischka heels, pink Coco Chanel perfume, a ring box, and so much more! Swoon!

Matt and McKenna are amazing in every way and are some of the sweetest people to be around. McKenna’s smile and laugh is so contagious and I just love watching the way Matt looks at her. Being able to capture the beginning of their marriage was truly an honor. They were married on April 28th at the St Joseph Chapel at the University of St Francis and ended the celebration at the stunning Patrick C Haley Mansion in Joliet, IL.

Her bridesmaids were getting ready downstairs in beautiful matching floral robes and sipping champagne out of the cutest gold glittered champagne glasses. Also accompanying them were two adorable dogs so, naturally, I was in heaven. I loved the blush bridesmaid dresses that the ladies wore and the rose and hydrangea floral bouquets they carried.

Waiting for us to arrive to the chapel were Matt and his handsome groomsmen in their black tuxes.

The chapel was decorated beautifully with white ribbon and greenery, and there was a pianist playing music. During the ceremony, McKenna’s grandfather sang a special song for the newly married couple and it was so precious to watch! Every second of this wedding was filled with love and joy.

SO many more lovely shots ~ from getting ready to celebrating the night away at the Patrick C Haley Mansion ~ on Elizabeth Nord Photography’s post right here!  And… while you’re there, take a peek at McKenna and Matt’s engagement session at Adler Planetarium. That girl’s smile will melt anyone’s heart! Lucky for Matt, she’s his ;)

One of The World’s Most Loved Bridal Designer Spills All Her Secrets!

A month has passed and we’re still reeling from the utterly fabulous week we had in NYC for Bridal Fashion Week. One of our highlights was definitely peeking into Jenny Packham’s 2019 collection in a private showing, where we got to see the beautiful gowns up close and personal in all their glory! But guess what? We also had a chance to tap the beloved designer for all of her secrets on this season’s collection! So, Jenny herself is here today sharing her inspiration, chatting about how crazy it is to dress some legendary women, and giving us some advice for brides to be! See the full gallery of gowns here

Tell us a little bit about how you came to design (such beautiful!) wedding gowns? Have you always known you wanted to do this or was a passion that grew out of something else?

From Jenny PackhamOur first bridal collection launched in 1997, after many brides were requesting versions of our evening gowns in ivory. At the time, beautiful ball gowns were in vogue and our design aesthetic transformed the bridal industry. I have always wanted to design and create beautiful pieces for special moments, to play a part in someone’s history and such a special day is an honour.

I love the process from my initial sketch to sourcing fabrics and seeing the final look in the atelier. To create a garment that makes a women feel elegant and confident in, is both my greatest pleasure and challenge.

What inspires your overall range? What three words would you use to describe the Jenny Packham brand?

I find inspiration everywhere I go from my travels, to a nineteenth century painting and a beautiful antique piece of jewellery. Our signature style is soft and romantic with vintage inspired beading. I would say that Jenny Packham brides are after a softer silhouette and something more fashion forward.

You have dressed some of the most influential women in the world! If you can choose, who have you dressed that is your most memorable and why?

I feel truly honoured to have dressed so many talented women whom I have long admired. From the first-time Angelina Jolie stepped out in Jenny Packham to Gigi Hadid, Emily Blunt and Adele at the Oscars – red carpet moments are so special.

What inspired your new 2019 collection? How did this translate into fabrics, silhouettes, and finishes?

The 2019 Bridal Collection, presented via an intimate salon show at The Ritz Hotel, London, was inspired by a F. Scott Fitzgerald’s quote and the hedonism of the 1930’s.

‘‘Men and girls
came and went
like moths among the whisperings
and the champagne
and the stars.’
–F. S Fitzgerald

Slinky crepe gowns with art deco inspired crystal brooches, glitter tulle skirts and sparkling crystal capes transport me back to this elegant age.

What is your favorite, or some of your favorite, gowns in your new collection?

It is so difficult to choose! This year celebrates our 30th anniversary. As part of our anniversary celebrations, I am delighted to be re-introducing an edit of my favourite classic Jenny Packham bridal styles to the collection. Best-selling styles: Aspen, Eden and Willow are now available in bridal boutiques internationally.

Juniper is my favourite gown from the latest 2019 Bridal Collection and features over 30,000 ivory sequins hand embroidered on tulle to create a soft, romantic silhouette. This season, I introduced crystal embellished capes to the collection and Juniper’s delicate sleeves give a nod to this trend – perfect for our fashion forward bride.

Best advice for a bride just beginning her wedding gown shopping experience?

Take your time to find your perfect gown – try lots of different silhouettes and styles until you find the one that makes you feel wonderful. Take a good friend with you who will give you honest advice and most importantly enjoy the process!

Old European Inspired Wedding at Casa Del Prado

This bride… this dress… this VENUE. Please excuse us while we take a much needed minute to compose ourselves after witnessing these beautiful photos by Amanda Wei Photography. From the floral arrangements lush with olive branches and garden roses by Michele Beckwith, to the tranquil slate blue and cream color scheme – there’s just nothing not to love about this day! Also, raise your hand if you never could have guessed this venue was not in Europe but actually in sunny SoCal. Yeah, us too.

Jessica and Dalton found the perfect wedding venue at one of their favorite places in the world, Balboa Park, which is located in the heart of sunny San Diego, California.

They chose the patios at Casa del Prado, a structure built over one hundred years ago, for its Spanish revival architecture. It worked perfectly as a stage for their old, European romance theme.

Michele Beckwith did an incredible job on the floral decor, incorporating artichokes and grapes in with the classic array of olive branches, garden roses, and eucalyptus leaves. The two decided to write their own vows and share them in front of their family and friends. Dalton could not stop crying during the entire ceremony, which was just so heartwarming to see!

For dinner, the two decided to pay homage to a San Diego classic, street tacos and some of the best salsa we’ve had in ages, thanks to the San Diego Taco company. It was a beautiful day that we wish we could relive over and and over again!

Step Inside a Fresh and Classic Tulsa Home

If you love fresh, fun fabrics, chinoiserie and the prettiest wallpaper ever, then you are in luck! Emily Davis Interiors designed a classic home in Tulsa that’s all at once gorgeous, on trend and totally kid-friendly. <— That is a magic combo.Take the full tour captured by Kacey Gilpin below!

Under the direction of Emily Davis Interiors, this south Tulsa Home was transformed from a dark and dated 1990s build into a fresh, classic home for a young family.

From Emily…What initially drew the homeowners to this house was the family feel of the neighborhood. It was perfect to begin with. The house itself, however, needed a bit more work.

The bones of this space were entirely classic, which suited the couple’s tastes perfectly. It just needed some stripping back of the dark color choices and varied flooring that had remained since the home was built. Luckily, these clients had great vision!

The goal was to create a beautiful, but livable, home for this family with 2 young children. Everyone who enters the space comments on the calm vibe of the home- it just feels good to spend time in!

For durability, performance fabrics and commercial grade carpets were used everywhere possible. But that definitely doesn’t mean sacrifices were made when it comes to style.

The homeowners were able to get their favorite, higher end patterns in the space by using wallpaper and throw pillows. They also splurged on light fixtures, which are less likely to be damaged by little hands than upholstery is.

The homeowners are thrilled with the final results, as am I! The most rewarding part of my job is helping to create a backdrop for where families do life together. And it’s even more rewarding when the backdrop is this beautiful!

Would You Do a Three-Day Engagement Session on the Amalfi Coast?

Ponder this for a sec: you’re already planning a vacation for this spring, you’re recently engaged (or maybe you will be during the upcoming holidays!) and you’re also planning to do an engagement session. While a three-day e-sesh might seem a bit extravagant—why not use your spring getaway as an engagement photo opp? IMO, best. idea. ever. If you need convincing, take a moment to scroll through these captures by KT Merry of the sweetest couple who did just that, along the Amalfi Coast, no less. Every uber chic detail by the lovely Federica Beni is perfetto… it’s all the proof you need.

From the Bride… Our Love Story: “Love comes to you just at the right time. The time you never thought it would have.” Edmund and I met through a mutual friend on a night-out in the bustling city of Hong Kong. From there we started dating and fell in love incredibly quickly. He was a breath of fresh air, yet it felt like we had already known each other forever. We fearlessly booked a three-week trip to New York, Mexico and Cuba just two months after we met! I thought “if love finds you, just go with it. Everything else will work itself out”. After our first adventure together, we knew that our love would last a lifetime… We shared our love for travel and gourmet-tasting and were lucky to explore nine cities across the world in a year and half’s time, from sunset gazing in Bali, riding up the air over the Twelve Apostles, to sipping mojitos in Old Havana, Cuba. “He wanted to show me the world and I truly felt like the luckiest girl in the world…”

It was a Sunday evening in May, the standard day of the week when my family all gathered together over dinner in one place. Little did I know there was a secret plan going on among Edmund and my family. In the middle of dinner, I was asked to go up to the storage house on the rooftop to look for a wine. When I got upstairs, I saw Edmund holding a bouquet of flowers. He told me to close my eyes, and when I opened them, he was down on one knee with the most beautiful ring that he had been secretly designing. My heart melted and we both started to cry. I loved the way he proposed, it was so sweet, natural and genuine, yet still managed to catch me by surprise! I am truly thankful for being able to share this special moment with my family. We couldn’t wait to start planning what’s next to come!

Our Amalfi Engagement Session “Everyday is a new horizon I can’t wait to discover with you.” Every little girl dreams about her wedding, I think. Mine was Italy, with castle-like architecture, frescoed walls and breathtaking views. Realizing that such a destination wedding would be too far for our guests, we decided to make it a dream come true with an elopement-styled engagement shoot at the most picturesque Amalfi Coast. Besides, is there anything better than a destination engagement session which can perfectly capture the memories of an incredible trip exploring the Amalfi Coast?

After months of planning, we flew to Italy and embarked on a three-day engagement photoshoot in the Amalfi Coast with our photographers KT Merry and Chad Keffer and our planner Frederica from Honey and Cinnamon. Our first day started in the magical Il San Pietro in Positano where I was pampered by my amazing makeup artist Emily Tucker. We stepped into a true dream world at Il San Pietro, shooting around its colorful terrace overlooking the bay of Positano. We continued exploring the resort at its private beach where we played in the water and enjoyed the sun-kissed beauty all around us.

We decided to incorporate one of our favorite activities together into this engagement session and we could not be happier we did! In the late afternoon, we aboard a lovely turquoise-colored private boat with our photographers, KT and Chad, for a romantic sunset sail exploring the rugged coastline of the Mediterranean Sea. Romance was definitely in the air… We spent a few hours on the water soaking up the beautiful Italian sun and toasted our future with glasses of champagne while KT captured the special moments. It was a perfect day to celebrate our love! We then decided to take an easy stroll around the colorful town of Positano. We laughed, we kissed, we danced in the streets… We couldn’t have had a more fun, romantic and adventurous day!

To further capture our adventurous spirit as a couple, KT came up with a brilliant idea of us jumping in the blue water. I was honestly a little hesitant at first but Edmund took my hand saying “3…2…1…!” We couldn’t be happier we did it! On the last day, my Italian wedding dream turned into a reality when we shot at the most stunning Villa Cimbrone. A place that I had always dreamed of seeing with my eyes one day…We woke up at 5 a.m. to catch the sunrise at the villa’s Terrazza dell’Infinito, overlooking the Gulf of Salerno. It was just us there… it felt like time had stopped, where the sky and the sea seemed to blend together stretching out to infinity in shades of blue.

We planned the itinerary and styled the entire three-day shoot including multiple gowns and outfit changes, hair and makeup and beautiful floral design. I wore multiple gowns from designers including Marchesa and Liz Martinez, paired with shoes from Manolo Blahnik, a custom-made lace veil, and hair accessories from Jennifer Behr and Liv Hart. Edmund wore custom-made suits from his favorite tailor in Hong Kong.

As for the color palette, we chose to go with a mix of old world charm, modern touches and the softest, prettiest pastel hues set against the backdrop of an Italian Villa. The blush-toned florals designed by La Fleurdu Jour were the perfect flowers to go along with the romantic theme. Driving a vintage car along the Amalfi Coast has always been Edmund’s dream. Our planner Frederica and floral designer helped make this dream come true by putting together the best ingredients for a stylish and elegant honeymoon-inspired car shoot: a light-blue vintage convertible, a gorgeous car garland, and the perfect sign “Oggi Sposi”. We cruised along the town of Ravello while enjoying unforgettable views of the Amalfi. There was no better way to wrap up our three-day shoot.

A lot of research and preparation was done for this once-in-a-lifetime engagement photoshoot. But all the emails and Skype calls proved fruitful. The entire session came together perfectly and created unforgettable memories to start our lives together, we are blessed to have all these precious moments captured so naturally and beautifully by our photographer KT. She captured not only our love and spirit, but the beauty of the Amalfi. We still pinch ourselves every time we think about our days so wonderfully well-spent in the Amalfi Coast!

Holiday Bride-to-Be 101: All About the Engagement Ring

It’s the last few months of 2018 and we’re getting ahead of the Holidays this year (for once!). No matter if you’re a newly married Mrs. or you’re seriously hoping for your love to get down on bended knee… we’ve got the tips for you this season. From the most romantic places to propose, to how to keep that bling nice and sparkly during the holiday pizzaz, and to the ultimate gift for your bride or groom-to-be (hint: wedding bands)…we have the best tips from our favorite engagement ring expert Platinum Guild International.

The Most Romantic Places to Propose

The most important thing to consider is what type of person you AND your loved one are. Do you have a fear of large gatherings? Does he or she love their family and wouldn’t imagine a life moment without them? Take into consideration all of the personality points first and foremost.

For the family-lovers… what about a family get-together? We have a few big Holidays coming up in which it is customary for family to gather. Popping the question in front of your person’s nearest and dearest could be a way to remember forever and include the family. This could also be relevant for friends as well! Planning a big New Years Eve bash? Why not ring in 2019 with a FIANCE?

For the private… is there anything more intimate and romantic than a proposal on the morning of a Holiday in your pajama’s, just the two of you? Ahh, so sweet! This situation is wonderful for a nervous guy or gal as well… no audience to hear your heartfelt, private speech. We also adore the idea of a walk on a crisp, winter morning admiring holiday decor and sipping hot chocolate (okay, do we sound too much like a Hallmark movie?!).

A Holiday shopping experience… propose with not one, but two or three rings! Talk to your local jeweler or engagement ring retailer about setting up a personal shopping experience and have 3 platinum engagement rings pre-selected for her to try on! If she prefers a colored metal, then at the very least make sure the ring has a Platinum Crown.

Before you choose a romantic destination for your proposal, make sure you have a ring that will last a lifetime. There is more than just the look and style of an engagement ring, but what it is made out of matters equally. Platinum is rare and eternal, and its qualities will allow it to withstand long after you say yes!

Shine Bright like a Diamond – Cleaning Your Engagement Ring

Remember that just-engaged glow (aka, laser beam of brilliant light) your engagement ring had when you first said YES? The key to maintaining that shine is to take care of your ring on the daily with just a few tips!

Daily care… did you know that normal substances like dish soap, lotions, hand soap, and even just water can cloud your ring? If you are at home or in a secure environment, keyword being IF, it is a great idea to remove your ring when doing the dishes or engaging in other types of activities in which your ring could get dirty or clouded. Pro tip: NEVER remove your ring near a drain. Find yourself a pretty ring dish to place near your sink so you have a designated spot to place it, and that way you won’t forget where it is! Removing your ring during washing will prevent soap from building up in your ring which may irritate some people’s hands.

At-home cleaning kits… there are so many types of cleaning kits out there, ranging from DIY concoctions to steam cleaners for the home. We learned of a fantastic DIY recipe from Platinum Guild International which is a drop of dish liquid (just a drop is good for your ring!) and good old fashioned seltzer. The bubbles loosen the dirt on your ring, but are gentle and the dish liquid removes any grease and gives it a shine. If that’s not your style, then consider a hands-free sonic cleaner that comes with a container where you simply place your ring in it and let the machine do the rest, and you just have to dry it with a lint free-cloth.

Nothing beats a cleaning from the jeweler, though… trust us. When you take your engagement ring to a jeweler to be cleaned, he or she will also inspect the ring to ensure the setting is straight and keeping your precious diamonds nice and tight to the band. Your jeweler has professional grade equipment and can do a cleaning in no time at all.

All rings should be cleaned from time to time…even platinum jewelry which is known to be hypoallergenic – which means the metal itself won’t cause irritation. If you have a platinum ring and it is irritating you, odds are it is the dirt or residue that has built up on your ring and your ring is telling you that you’re due for a wash!

The Ultimate Gift for Engaged Couples: exchanging platinum wedding bands

Choosing wedding bands to be exchanged during the wedding ceremony is a fun activity for most couples to engage in (no pun intended). What we love about today’s engagement ring and wedding band style is that you no longer feel the need to be so matchy-matchy as days in the past! Some wedding ring sets look absolutely stunning as a matching set and some look phenomenal with something different, just depends on your style and what you want on your hand at all times! Start the wedding band process by first selecting the metal, and we recommend platinum. Platinum is pure, rare and eternal. It is a naturally white metal that will complement your engagement ring and other jewelry perfectly, and will hold your stones securely if you choose a diamond set band.

For your last holiday season as a non-married couple, it is a sweet idea to exchange platinum wedding bands as your holiday gifts. How you approach the gifting is up to you! You can either make a day-date of it and go shopping together and then share a glass of bubbly over dinner, you can drop hints now so your favorite band is waiting for you to unwrap, or you can surprise gift one another a band you chose with the other in mind. The options for gifting are endless these days and so are the wedding band styles.

For her, consider how your wedding band will pair with your engagement ring. If the engagement ring has lots of pave diamonds around the band, perhaps a simple band would be a great addition. If the engagement ring is a solitaire diamond, we love the idea of having a micro-pave diamond wedding band… or even incorporating birthstones for a pop of color! Platinum’s naturally white color and strength pairs perfectly with your engagement ring.

For him, we’ve seen it all lately. Some traditional, simple bands and some with a little masculine bling – both that we love! There is no right or wrong in general, but just keep in mind the style of your fiance. Consider platinum to be his other perfect match.

Even if your wedding isn’t soon after the holidays, be sure to plan for your wedding bands early! Spend the time determining your style, and ensure that you have budget set aside for your bands, after all… your wedding jewelry and memories are the only things that last past the actual wedding date!

Discover your dream wedding band now!

The Perfect Parisian Elopement in Mauve and Neutral Tones

Sweet, sweet Paris. Doesn’t she just get lovelier as time goes on? That is precisely why Paris ranks as one of the top dream wedding locations for couples around the world and today, Sophie Kaye Photography and Jennifer Fox Weddings show us how it’s done! Pretty blush and mauve tones, one EPIC sheer Eisen Stein gown, and the most feminine, marvelous blooms by Floraison? Pretty much my elopement playground…

The delicate embellishments on the Eisen Stein gowns added the perfect amount of whimsy to this Parisian look. The deep-v trend is in high order for the 2019 bridal season and I was thrilled to see it styled so beautifully here…

Do I sound like a broken record? Because I’m going to say it again… my favorite color palette is this dusty rose/mauve color mixed with subtle blue tones. SO refreshing.

If you’re a bride-to-be and you think a smaller guest list means sacrificing style? Think again. Look at these straight up perfect details!

From Jennifer Fox WeddingsThe saying goes, “Paris is for lovers”. Couples from all over the world come to Paris to celebrate their love. However, the sentiment is not exclusive to only new couples. Vow renewals are becoming more and more popular as many couples wish to relive their wedding celebration in a city that signifies romance, art and above all things… Love.

Caroline and Olivier decided to mark the occasion of celebrating their 10 years of marriage with a romantic walk along the River Seine after they privately re exchanged their vows. An intimate dinner in a secret location surrounded by beautiful blooms followed and was topped off with cake and champagne! The inspiration behind the design of their celebration was where old world tradition meets romantic modernity. We wanted design elements that were not only beautiful but that told a story … Their story. We also chose materials with texture in order to represent the commitment, happy memories and love that their marriage has sustained.

Their dinner menu and other paperie was sketched on handmade paper to represent their first year of marriage, the traditional first anniversary gift. The silk ribbons that adorned the bouquet and the linen napkins and tablecloth that dressed the table were chosen to represent their 4th anniversary as husband as wife. Hand crafted ceramic dishes were chosen to represent their 9th year of marriage and were paired with vintage stemware and flatware. Even the cake had an ornate textural design. For her original wedding bouquet, the bride had bright pink blooms. Different hues of pink including more mature shades were chosen for this design in order to represent the couple’s modern romance while serving as a touching throwback to the couple’s wedding day.

Charleston’s Gadsden House is Awash with Coral Charm Peonies…and It’s GORG!

One way to make Charleston even more charming is to load it up with coral charm peonies. That is precisely what Branch Design Studio and planner Sweetgrass Social did for this sweet Southern affair. Ripe with the internets favorite flower and classic as can be details, this wedding is goooorgeous. But don’t take my word for it, head to the full gallery captured to perfection by Dana Cubbage.

I’ve tried to sit down and start this blog post about a million times, but I just can’t seem to find the right words to describe just how much I LOVED Stacy + Britt’s wedding day. I knew it was going to be amazing because Stacy has incredible taste + style, plus she’s so much fun to be around.

With the help of her amazingly talented planner, Meredith of Sweetgrass Social, her vision of a classic Charleston wedding all came together flawlessly. I absolutely loved the light + airy feel of the design paired with the bright pops of coral. It was the PERFECT color scheme for the summer! And let’s just talk about those Coral Charm Peonies… HOLY MOLY!! Those babies were incredible!!

Stacy + Britt’s day started with a sweet First Look in the Ansonborough neighborhood and Britt’s reaction was priceless. #firstlookgoals. After portrait time, we met up with their bridal party for group photos and as soon as we finished those photos, the skies opened and it POURED rain! Thank you, Mother Nature, for allowing us to finish all of our photos beforehand!!

Luckily, Stacy + Britt had planned ahead and tented their ceremony + reception spaces in the event of rain. They said “I do!” in front of a gorgeous floral arch and then celebrated all night with their closest family and friends. At the end of the evening, Stacy + Britt exited through a tunnel of sparklers. It was an amazing day and I’m so honored to have been the one they chose to document it all for them!

Lucky me – I get to also photograph Stacy’s sister (and Maid of Honor) Mallory’s wedding next June… almost a year to the day that I photographed Stacy + Britt’s wedding! I am so excited and honored to photograph yet another Verner wedding in 2019!!
