This Elegant Idaho Wedding Ceremony Actually Floated On Water!

This couple said “I Do” with a view! You’re going to fall head over heels for this wedding ceremony that Jaime Johnson Events masterfully orchestrated on a floating barge! The couple was greeted back on land by their sweet Pup, Rags, and a tented reception overflowing with an abundance of greenery and white florals crafted by Garden Of Eden Floral Design. All the love of the heartfelt celebration was beautifully captured by Anna Peters Photography. You do not want to miss all the fun in the full gallery!

From Anna PetersThis September wedding for Brett and Jacob was one for the books – set on the stunning property at Gozzer Ranch Golf & Lake Club. “On the water” was the foundation of their wedding vision, inspired by Brett’s family home on Lake Coeur D’Alene and Jacob’s work as he owns several commercial fishing boats in Alaska.

Guests gathered on the resort’s dock to board one of the Coeur d’ Alene Cruises fleet boats that would carry them across the lake to the ceremony site. The rockstar planning team at Jaime Johnson Events took on an incredible logistics challenge bringing in a floating barge that would serve as the ceremony site.

After the couple made it official on their floating ceremony site, the party shifted to land – a tented cocktail hour and reception set higher up on the property. Guests danced the night away before returning once more and boating back to their hotel rooms. The result was an unforgettable day full of laughter, adventure, and incredible style.

This Montage Palmetto Bluff Wedding Exudes Southern Elegance & Charm

She’s from Louisiana, he’s from New York… after years of traveling the world together – they decided the perfect spot in between their two hometowns is where they’ll say “I do”! You might recognize the Montage Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina as the Bieber’s famously got hitched there last year – so it’s no surprise we consider it one of the most breathtaking and romantic wedding venues in the country. The bride worked with her amazing planner, Kelli Corn, to create an event that truly reflects the elegance and charm of the South. From driftwood details to a classic South Carolina oyster roast – the results couldn’t have been more amazing. Check out the full gallery to see it all unfold – captured by Josh Morehouse!

From Josh Morehouse Brian Barfuss and Emily Mourad met in January 2011 when Emily started working at CBS Sports Network in sales & marketing and Brian was working on the finance team. Even though Emily swears she fell in love with Brian the moment she met him, it wasn’t until 2014 that they started dating after being friends for a few years.

Their years of dating were filled with traveling the world to places like Italy, Germany, Paris and Napa Valley and spending their summers in Montauk. In May 2018, Brian proposed to Emily in NYC and after being in love with Brian for seven years, she easily said yes to his proposal.

Emily and Brian knew they wanted a destination wedding where they could host their family and friends for a weekend wedding. With the bride originally from Minden, Louisiana and the groom from Huntington, New York, they picked the perfect location between both of their hometowns – Montage Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina.

Staying true to her Southern roots and showing her New York City friends and Brian’s Northern family a true Southern wedding was important to the bride and her family. Each event centered around Southern elegance, hospitality, and bringing together the “Yankees” and the “Yalls”. The wedding reception decor leaned into the nature of South Carolina with driftwood and oyster details – including a custom created oyster chandelier for above the dance floor and South Carolina oyster roast. Brian and Emily couldn’t imagine a more perfect wedding weekend surrounded by all of their loved ones – the Southerners and the Yankees – and Montage Palmetto Bluff was the perfect location for their Southern elegance wedding.

Meryl Davis and Fedor Andreev’s Provence Wedding Is So Stunning It Deserves An Olympic Gold Medal

This French countryside wedding has officially stolen our hearts. Olympic Gold Medalist and Dancing With The Stars champion Meryl Davis said “I Do” to Fedor Andreev at the exquisite Le Mas des Poiriers, an 18th-century farmhouse that feels as if you’re stepping into a fairytale. Inspired by Meryl’s grandmother’s collection of chinoiserie, Matthew Robbins Design created an ambiance of elegance and charm that speaks perfectly to the picturesque setting. The enchantment of the day was forever captured in time by the ever-talented Oliver Fly Photography. Visit the full gallery for a closer look at all the dreamy details.

From the bride… After having been together for many years, and several phases of life, we really wanted our wedding to be about hitting pause on the hustle and bustle of every day. Travel and adventure have been a big part of our lives and we’ve always been quite taken by the way that a particular place can influence a person’s feeling, perspective and experience. So, envisioning an intimate garden ceremony, dinner and celebrations outdoors, the magical landscape and timeless elegance of Provence spoke to us.

After deciding on the location, I was introduced to our planner, Matthew Robbins Design. Matthew, Fedor and I chatted about our vision and we knew we were in good hands. In particular, I mentioned to Matthew that my paternal grandmother had collected blue and white chinoiserie and that the pieces reminded me of intimate family dinners as a child. Matthew and his team really took it from there and made the experience so personal; they got to know us as a couple and integrated pieces of our story into the plan for our wedding weekend.

We were so incredibly grateful to share a few beautiful days celebrating life, love, family and friendship with just under 100 of our closest friends and relatives. The ceremony and celebrations were everything we could have imagined and we felt that the setting allowed us to breathe deeply and be present for this special time in our lives.

This Might Just Be the Prettiest Bridal Suite Ever With 180-Degree Views of the Pacific Coast!

From epic views, to a towering floral arch, to adorable custom stirrer escort cards – this stunning coastal wedding planned by Karla Casillas and Co. is teeming with all things pretty. The glowing bride got ready with her best gals in a bridal suite that will take your breath away, complete with 180-degree views of the coast – talk about the perfect start to your big day! The festivities ended with a bang as guests celebrated the newlyweds under an epic sky of fireworks. See all the magic this unforgettable day has to offer at the full gallery – taken by Ether & Smith!

From Ether & SmithKathy & Peter flew in from Houston, TX for their winter wedding in the stunning Grand Velas Los Cabos in Mexico! The bride had the most beautiful getting ready space; the presidential suite at the very top of the resort with a 180-degree view of the coast. She wore a white robe whilst her bridesmaids wore blue robes as they toasted the day on the balcony.

Gifts were exchanged and a few confetti cannons went off on the bed! The couple opted out of a first look which worked out due to everything being in the same venue and having plenty of time after the ceremony for portraits. Their intimate wedding ceremony was on a lawn facing the sunset.

Happy tears were shed by everyone when the bride walked down the aisle with her romantic lace dress. Rose petals were thrown after they said their I do’s and walked down the aisle as husband and wife! Sunset portraits were done on the beach just a few steps away as well as various areas of the tropical resort. Guests were ushered three stories up to the cocktail and reception area where they enjoyed drinks, a mariachi band, a lounge area, and the endless views of sunset on the beach.

The escort cards were custom stirrers in champagne flutes! Long farm tables on three sides, a huge dance floor, and twinkle lights adorned the space. Chic white and green foliage decorated the tables and looked so painterly against the ocean backdrop. The couple’s grand entrance had a choreographed first dance with twirls and epic lifts, which was just the start of the night!

After toasts and some open dancing, the couple cut the cake in the center of the dance floor, in which fireworks surprised the guests! This was so different from other wedding fireworks, everyone admired it whilst dancing and partying away at the same time, especially Kathy & Peter. The night ended with a lot more dancing, drinking, and a heart-warming sparkler exit on the sand!

Your Ultimate Guide To Wedding Lighting

There are definitely some elements of a wedding that will ALWAYS draw the 👀 first. The fashion, the flowers, the fondant and frosting – yes, as in gorgeously-hand painted floral buttercream masterpieces. But, for us, we also focus on the thing that makes these stunning photos and how warm, inviting, visceral feelings come to fruition, and that is, 100 percent, lighting. Not sunlight, either (although natural lighting and golden hours are everything), but actual purposeful illumination for the day be it from bulbs, fixtures, candles, sparkling strands, or real life sparklers.

Good lighting doesn’t just make a statement, it shows guests and reminds couples just how thoughtful they were when they were curating their days – because, the greatest finishing touch is the lighting – we consider it the icing on the epic cake that is the wedding day itself. So, whether you go about your glow with candles, can’t tear yourself away from the tear-worthiness of twinkling fairylights, or feel the need to celebrate your nuptials with none other than neon signs, you’ll be adding a signature touch to be talked about forever.

Now, before we shed some light on our own oh-so-lit products, we thought it’d be a great time to gloss over all the wedding lighting options that set our hearts aglow.

Candle light.

In any iteration, candle light is by far one of our favorites, especially if you’re going for a soft, romantic, charming wedding canon (cue the dynamic ensemble of candles lighting up your aisle). You can float candles in glass holders for a modern, clean look, use antique candleabras for a major touch of elegance and fairy tale feel, really trim and tame your tablescape with tapers, or keep the 🔥to a flicker with tea lights and votives bestrewn throughout garlands on your tabletops.

Gobo monogram.

A little bit extra, sure, but still such a nice “official” way for the newlyweds to see their new last name in lights! Work with a lighting/entertainment company or even sometimes with your band or DJ to set this up, and, really, you use your venue as your canvas! You can project a motif or color on the wall, floor, and/or ceiling with a custom wedding gobo design that, again, draws all the 👀👀👀. Doing so with your names, a monogram, or family crest on the dance floor or right in front of your sweetheart table has a super impressive effect – and the photos are SO good!

Hanging installations.

Anything that can be hung – from rattan and pendant lighting to greenery-laden and floral chandeliers and/or lantern lighting – counts as a hanging fixture. These looks are extremely trendy, they do the most to dress up lounge areas, and they photograph flawlessly. Plus, you can really look to your venue to dictate these kinds of lighting cues. Industrial/warehouse settings, tented affairs, and beach/destination digs have aesthetics that lend themselves well to hanging motifs.

Neon signs.

Arguably one of the biggest trends in weddings over the last few years, these luminescent signs are loved up and then some. You can find them at independent neon dealers (where you can inquire about custom orders, quotes, lyrics that might be meaningful) or vintage rental studios, and these signs do so much to spotlight various vignettes on your wedding day (the getting ready scene+bridal suite, the photobooth, cake cutting, etc.) along with important hallmarks like your new last name or hashtag.

String lights.

You’ve probably seen this glistening kind of genius at every destination event, backyard fete, or tented evening of love – and it’s not without reason. These lights can create different vibes in all of their variations –  bohemian, classic, modern, romantic, rustic, vintage – and they look like fireflies dancing through the night. Using string lights can bring a sense of intimate resolve to even the most festive, frenetic (and we mean that in only the most endearing way) parties.

Uplighting.

Just as string lights are to outdoor ambiance, uplighting is to indoor ambiance. This is essentially lighting that comes from strategically-placed light casting units around the perimeter of the room. It bathes the reception place (hotel ballrooms, country clubs, museums/conservatories, private estates, etc.)  – walls, trees, etc. – in prismatic color that lasts throughout the night. Kind of a cocoon of color and whimsy detail.

Get The Look!

Luckily, “getting the look” of all these fun lighting alternatives isn’t hard, and we can help. Our Style Me Pretty shop is flush with illuminating items to make your special day shine. Here are just a few to get you started!

Flowers always make for the best centerpieces, but the look is so much more elegant and romantic with supporting taper candles and mixed media votive candles and tea lights  (meaning different heights / different vessels+candle holders – metallic vs. ceramic). We love our blush and gold color combinations, particularly if you have a lot of soft cosmetic colors and greens already in your wedding palette. And our unique tapers are actually ombre, so you can add two-tone color to your tables!

Neon signs will always be electric at your wedding event. Whether you want to doll up your dressing area to get ready with the girls (we like our ‘But First, Drinks’ sign, it goes well with bellinis and Beyoncé), pretty up the photobooth with a sign that just oozes all the love, or raise the bar on a basic bar setup, you’ll have everything you need with our personalized neon signage. Extra points for the easy hang

Real Brides Share Their Biggest Wedding Planning Mistakes!

From missed moments to clandestine Starbucks meetups, we talked to real brides who shared their biggest wedding planning mistakes and what they would do differently if they could turn back the clock.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Emily Blumberg Photography

1. Don’t be afraid to hire help…but vet them first.

“We planned and built our wedding from the ground up (ceremony and reception site included) which is probably our biggest “mishap”. If you’re able to afford the help, take it! It really isn’t that much more cost-effective to do it all yourself vs. hiring some help.” – Jessica married September 2016

“If you really want help, work with a wedding planner from the very beginning [so you know] they are invested in you and your day. It allows you more time with this person and their team to build a relationship.” – Dylan married September 2019

Ladies, we couldn’t agree more! For crafty brides, doing everything yourself seems to be the best way to get exactly what you want, until the day comes and you’re caught up trying to perfect the details instead of just enjoying yourself and the company of your friends and family. Don’t be afraid to hire some help!

Investing in a wedding planner or day-of coordinator is definitely worth it–as long as the two of you see eye to eye. It is important to meet with these vendors (and any other vendor you hire for your big day) ahead of time to make sure your personalities and aesthetics are compatible. A planner is there to help your day run smoothly not add extra stress to your already full plate. If you’ve already hired a planner or day-of coordinator and aren’t getting a good vibe, consider looking elsewhere. You will likely lose your deposit if you decide to go another route, but at least you’ll be happy with the outcome at the end of the day. You’re already spending a pretty penny on your wedding, you may as well make the most of it!

PHOTOGRAPHY | Carlie Statsky

2. Invest in a great videographer!

“We wish we had invested in a better, more extensive videographer and that we had been more specific with them about what to capture. Sure, they captured the wedding itself, but there are things they missed, like our grandmas and all those important people in your life that are there for your special day.” – Alyssa married March 2012

“I would say my biggest wedding planning mishap was not testing the sound properly with our wedding videographers. A lot of our wedding video’s audio got distorted because we didn’t properly test out the microphones and camera equipment. I assumed the people we hired would have done so, but unbeknownst to us they didn’t, and it was really disappointing to know much of the dialogue from the ceremony was unable to be used.”  – Jessica married September 2016

So true! For most couples, hiring an amazing photographer is the #1 item on their wedding budget (aside from the venue), but many couples forget to hire a videographer. Some photographers do video as well, but that is usually a different package with different pricing, so just make sure you mention that you are interested in video before requesting your quote.

We definitely suggest hiring a videographer for your big day! Check our our Little Black Book to see the best of the best in your region. To find the one that’s right for you, watch the videos on their website. Make note of the ones that you like and be specific with them about the moments that you want them to capture. It’s a good idea to make a “shot list” like this with your photographer as well.

3. Be specific about your vision.

“I didn’t mock up every display/decor item for the day of the wedding. Since we were our own wedding planners, I had taken photos of our table layouts, table arrangements, and other decor items I mocked up since I wouldn’t be on location to help assist setting up the day of. I had completely forgotten to mock up the bride/bridesmaid’s floral bouquets and so my bouquets were missing most of the greenery I had ordered. I also didn’t think to mock up how the name cards should look, so they were another little item that didn’t end up how I had envisioned it.”  – Jessica married September 2016

We feel you–weddings have so many elements and moving pieces, it’s so easy to forget something! Whether you’re planning it yourself or having someone do it for you, go over the day from start to finish and make a checklist of each moment and every element that goes into it. This can be tough to do on your own, so don’t hesitate to ask your fiancé(e) or someone in your bridal party to help you out!

For elements that you have a specific vision for, make sure to have mock-ups (or examples) of exactly how you want it to look. If you’re doing it yourself, it’s a good idea to try it out ahead of time to make sure you can execute your plan the way you want it–just like you should do a hair and makeup trial before the day-of.

While we all want our weddings to turn out exactly the way we envisioned, things happen that are outside of our control. It’s important to let these things slide and don’t let them interfere with your good time. Remember, you’re getting married (yay!), and at the end of the day, that’s all that matters!

PHOTOGRAPHER | Corina V. Photography

4. Listen to your gut!

“My wedding planning mistake/suggestion would be – trust your instincts, and if something doesn’t feel right know that you can always change course. The woman who did the alterations on my gown (at a very reputable place) sadly kept making mistakes. My wedding planner ended up having to sew part of the skirt to the bodice while I was getting ready!  It still looked and felt beautiful, but the whole thing was so silly. I really should have known from the first fitting that I needed to find someone else for alterations. Brides are already spending so much money on their day, it should be absolutely the way that they want it.” -Sharon married July 2014

When you hire any wedding professional, you’re putting your trust in them to do the job and do it well–that’s why they’re the professional, right?! But sometimes, even experts (with great reviews) make mistakes. If something doesn’t feel right or your vendor is not answering your questions or addressing your concerns, don’t be afraid to switch course. While some vendors may be able to make a mistake and turn it around, sometimes, there’s just not time for that and there’s no harm in getting a second opinion.

PHOTOGRAPHER | Anya Kernes Photography

5. Trust but verify.

“When I bought my gown I was advised to order a size that seemed too big, but I trusted their judgment. When the gowns arrived my original suspicions were correct and they were too big! The seamstress told me that the gown couldn’t be altered properly without drastically changing the neckline because of the sleeves. It was now weeks before I left for my wedding and I was freaking out, to say the least.

I was sobbing with the seamstress in the dressing room. She was so kind and saw how upset I was. She told me that she had a friend who worked in manufacturing for this specific designer.

We met at a Starbucks and she told me that there was a gown in my size but it was meant for another bride. I hesitated because I just didn’t feel right taking another bride’s gown. The seamstress looked me dead in the eye and said, ‘They will make that bride a new one! You don’t have time!’ I took her advice and she had her friend swap the two gowns.

All-in-all, everything turned out fine in the end, but if it wasn’t for that amazing seamstress going above and beyond to help out a frazzled bride, my wedding day could have looked a lot different than I had imagined.” – Jacqueline married October 2015

OMG, this has to be one of the craziest mishaps we’ve ever heard! Going gown shopping can be overwhelming and of course, you would be inclined to trust the person helping you place the order. Our advice in this sticky situation is to trust but verify. It’s true that bridal sizing is different than regular ready-to-wear sizing, but inches don’t lie. Do the research yourself and compare your measurements to the designer’s size chart (which is normally available on their website or upon request) to determine which size you should order.

This story also teaches us another valuable lesson, be nice to your vendors…you never know who could be the one to save your big day!

PHOTOGRAPHY | Erin Wilson Photography

We’re pleased to tell you that despite these little mishaps, all of these real brides still look back fondly on their wedding day. The moral of this story–it’s a party, don’t sweat the small stuff and remember what it’s all about–LOVE!

14 Things To Do While You’re “Social Distancing”

We’re seeing something our generation has never seen before. The swift entrance of COVID-19 has almost felt like a movie. Information is spreading like wildfire, events are getting canceled left and right, and we’ve been introduced to a new concept called “social distancing.”

Social distancing is a request that urges citizens to take precautionary measures to avoid large crowds. Basically, the intent of all of these closures and delays is to limit contact. We don’t have all the answers, it’s certainly not within our wheelhouse to present you data that we could barely understand ourselves — but we do know a thing or two about the home and how to have a good time!

So that’s the part we’ll play in this! We have the utmost privilege to connect with our readers without having physical contact with them, and while many times that does feel like a constraint — today it allows us to follow the intent of these precautionary measures while sending along some of our own tips and tricks for how you can make the most of this situation.

To respect the requests of officials and authorities this weekend, maybe going out isn’t in the cards. But that doesn’t mean you have to make it feel like you’re an un-fun hermit! So here are 14 things to do while you’re social distancing!

1. Take Inventory of Your Needs

We can not stress this enough! DO NOT PANIC. People are flocking to stores to empty shelve of things like toilet paper, cat litter, bottled water, and hand sanitizer. Trust the people in place to make sure needs are met. It will happen. You can order things online! You can head to a grocery store in the morning! Do not panic and feel the need to bulk buy.

But before you go, set a game plan for what do you need to stock up on! Be prepared for things like baby diapers, your favorite string cheese, butter, frozen foods and veggies (pro-tip: if you do get fresh veggies, think about popping them in the freezer for longevity!) a new nail polish color, some magazines — but we’ll get into this more in the following bullet points :)

2. Spa Weekend

Self-care has never been more appealing! Part of boosting your immune system is boosting your general morale, so take advantage of this time at home to really treat yo’ self. FINALLY try a face mask you’ve been eying but have never “had time for.” Give yourself an at home mani! Complete with shaping your nails, addressing your cuticles, applying top AND bottom coats and actually let the whole thing dry!

Take some time to take care of you! Pamper yourself, take a loooooong bubble bath, plop yourself down in your fluffiest robe and soak in the me time.

3. Try Out Some Home Work Outs

Another form of taking care of yourself is to get yourself active. Even during social distancing, you can get a good sweat in! There are SO many apps (obe fitness, Tone It Up, Sweat, Peloton) that have apps that allow you to seriously get a good sweat at home while still giving you the “instructor” feel. You’ve got time, why not try them all? Find your favorite instructors! Get your hiit workout in and THEN do Yoga! You many not normally have time for back-to-back workouts like that, but now is your chance!

4. Try Out a New Hobby

How many times have you watched a new hobby come and go, and you meant to try it but never got around to it? Now’s your time! Try your hand at needlepoint! Give crochet a chance, learn to sow! Pillows are a great place to start your sowing career and can be really fun to liven up your living room. Try out at water coloring! There are so many things you can dabble in that you’ve never had time for before, and who knows — you might fall in love with it and keep going!

5. Learn A New Recipe

How many times have you looked at a recipe and gone “oh that’s going to take forever.” Well, guess what, while you’re socially distancing yourself, you have time! There are so many amazing recipe resources that take you step by step and break down what seems impossible to make.

Maybe this weekend is the perfect time to FINALLY make a cheesecake! Take a nod from the French and learn the 5 sauces of french cuisine! What about short braised ribs? Or better yet, homemade cinnamon rolls! Or maybe you’re feeling super ambitious and want to tackle the three-day homemade croissant process. Anticipation is the best part of cooking at home, so really savor the process and take it on by the horns.

6. Tackle A Home Project

Have you been staring at a project that you’re halfway through but have never completed? Or, do you have a pesky carpet stain that just WON’T go away and needs some special attention? While you’re at home, take care of your home! Maybe you can even try re-arranging furniture in your living room to find a new feng shui! Mabye your dining room chairs could use a little paint job or re-covering. With your newly discovered sewing hobby, you can now do both!

This time of isolation is kind of a blessing in disguise coming this time of year that allows us to really pause and take the time to take care of the things at home that need our attention.

7. Get A Head Start On Your Spring Cleaning

This could probably go without saying, but this is a really good time to deep clean your home. Get you some good anti-bacterial cleaning supplies and go.to.town. Make your kitchen sparkly clean! Deep scrub the bathroom! Get in to every nook and cranny of your home and give it a good scrub down.

We would actually recommend doing this first before anything else because nothing makes being at home more enjoyable than being in a clean home.

8. Board Games!

A seriously under-looked past time, board games are just fun. Try out some new ones! Go all out! From “Pretty Pretty Princess” to “Catan,” you can find all levels of strategy and difficulty depending on what your family needs. You can make a whole evening of it! Make it a marathon event. It’s mentally stimulating, makes time fly and allows you to positively interact with your family.

9. Pick Up A Good Book (Or Audio Book!)

Do you have a TBR (to be read) pile a mile high? Do you enviously look at people who somehow manage to read a book a week and think “where do they have the time?!” Well, now YOU have the time! Pick up a good read and allow yourself the guilt-free pleasure giving this time for the expansion of your mind. And if you don’t have a physical book on hand, take a look at purchasing books online, listening to them on audible or checking out Amazon for good books.

10. Organize Your Closet

One of the most dreaded tasks in all of the home is going through your closet. Sorting through clothes with sentimental value, someday value and actual monetary value that you can’t get rid of is something that takes time. And, as you’re probably picking up the theme of this article — you now have time! Plans, planes, and trips are canceled…. so dive into your closet and make it work for you.

11. Spend Time With Your Family

This kind of seems like a given, but think about it: how many times are you all FORCED to stay in the same place all together without any plans to disrupt the quality time? With all the craziness going around, cherish this time. Take advantage of it and really soak it in. This is hopefully a once in a lifetime experience, and while social distancing is such a weird concept, it allows us to narrow in on the people within our own walls.

12. Dive Into Some Good Music

While a movie marathon is the easiest choice for a time killer in this context (we’ll get to that in a second :) we also really want to encourage being present and connected while social distancing to make it feel a lot less like isolation. A great way to have some background liveliness to a situation is to have good music. Do you want to like jazz but feel like you’ve never been able to give it a chance? Have you been wanting to craft the PERFECT playlist but haven’t been able to sit down to accumulate it all?

Take this time to appreciate all that music has to offer. And heck, if you’ve got instruments laying around (lucky) learn to play them!

13. Watch All The Disney Classics

Like we mentioned above, a movie marathon is probably one of the most obvious ways to kill some time this weekend. But instead of killing time, why not savor it? Go a little nostalgic with your movie choices and watch the classics! The definition of “classic” is dependent on the person. For some, it’s the princess movies (duh) for others it’s all the sports movies, and then don’t get us started on the Disney Channel Originals (hello, Cadet Kelly!)

Whatever your movie choice is, make it fun! Build a fort if you want to, make some homemade popcorn or a batch of brownies and enjoy the nostalgia.

14. Learn How To Make A New Cocktail

Gin and Tonics are never wrong, but why not branch out a bit and become your own bartender? We can help you there.  Learn a new, fun cocktail that can become your signature go-to drink when hosting future dinner parties! It’s a skill that will come in very, very handy.

If we think of more fun, we’ll keep you posted!

At the end of the day, while these measures might seem extreme, it’s always better to be proactive than reactive, and we should respect the authorities that have the people’s safety at heart. And while you might not be at risk, think of those who are and know that any efforts you make to keep yourself healthy gives the virus one more dead end to hit.

Stay safe out there, friends!

Take Your Summer Soirée Up A Notch With A Citrus Theme

When life gives you lemons… it’s time to throw the most beautiful wedding ever! Thanks to the super-sweet citrus theme, this Maryland wedding is brimming with bright and sunny elements. The couple worked closely with Lemon And Lime Event Design to fill their special day with fun, like a custom orange crush bar! Bright bursts of florals, created by Sophie Felts Floral Design, add to the charm of the day. All the eye-catching details were beautifully captured by Abby Jiu Photography. Trust us you’re not going to be able to peel yourself away from the full gallery.

From Lemon And Lime Event DesignInspired by the colorful gardens at Belmont Manor and Historic Park, Ellen chose a color palette of bright pinks, green, gold, and white with citrus accents. The colorful garden party vibe was carried throughout the wedding from the floral design on the invitations to the various shades of pink worn by the bridesmaids.

The outdoor ceremony was presided over by both a Rabbi and Catholic Deacon, celebrating both of the pair’s religious traditions. It was a beautiful way to combine two families as one.

Joseph and Ellen’s day included details entirely to them, including a custom orange crush bar (a popular drink at their favorite waterfront restaurant) and a spin around the dance floor to Darius Rucker’s “Wagon Wheel” for their first dance. The entire celebration was a true testament to their unique love story.

Pretty Kid’s Toys They’ll Love, And You Will Too!

There’s a whole world opened when you have kids. All the fun toys! All the stuffed animals! All the pastels! All the dress-up clothes!

When you hit up Pinterest for kid’s room inspiration, you don’t see all of those primary-colored toys. They’re somehow muted or pastel, chic and — dare we say it — beautiful? Where do people find these gorgeous toys? How do they find them? How are they so organized?!

We’re rounding up a couple of our favorite kid’s toys discoveries that are design value-ads, and honestly, we’re kind of jealous we didn’t have them when we were kids.

Dollhouses

Dollhouses are one of those things that can be SO cute and really add to your kid’s room in a very positive way. And truth be told, many dollhouses are prettier than real houses but that’s ok.

Ride-Along Toys

These are the creme-de-la-creme of make-belief. Being able to actually have something your size as a kid that’s all your own is the coolest — whether that’s an adorable rattan rocking horse or a jazzing car, the play potential is endless.

Kitchens

Warning in advance, your little one’s kitchen could be cooler than yours and that’s ok. Just setting up good taste early.

Tents + Structures

These are quite possibly some of the coolest toys because they look good, take up a good amount of space so they make an impact, and you can hide things in them :) Kids want to build forts! And these aid them in the process with some purpose like a puppet station, gardening tent, or reading corner. These are just fun.

Books

They make the most beautiful books for kids these days, so soak ’em up, make a book wall and sit back to admire how nice and pretty their room suddenly is!

Stuffed Animals + Doll Accessories

Have you noticed how stylish these little stuffed animals are these days? It’s CRAZY how beautiful they are! From knit textures to florals and outfits cuter than we have, you have so much more to choose from in your stuffed animal pursuits. Put them in a stylish wicker pram and suddenly your little one is tres, tres chic.

And for the inevitably ugly toys….baskets!

You can try with all of your might to get the prettiest, most boutique, ~one of a kind~ toys for your kid, and they’re STILL going to want the ugly ones. That’s ok! Learning what they like is part of the growing up process. But for your organizational and aesthetic sanity, we present to you a wide array of lego-hiding baskets that keep things organized and look good doing it. This is called parental compromise.

At the end of the day, it’s all about the discovery of what makes the two of you happy, and that is the REAL beauty of the process!

They were going for killer views and a romantic ambiance so naturally, Santorini was the answer!

How to Make Your Big Guest List Still Feel Like an Intimate Wedding

Having 175+ or perhaps even 300+ guests? Worried it might not feel intimate but you don’t want to trim the list? I’ve got several solutions for you that will help make your big guest list still feel like an intimate wedding for you and your guests!

Strategic Venue Selection and Layouts

Seating 25+ tables all in one large ballroom or event space is going to feel massive. It’s a sea of tables everywhere you look. Instead, look for a venue that breaks up the space with columns or other architectural elements or bushes or landscape elements if outdoors.

Susan of Weddings by Susan Dunne says, “First start by designing your floor layout to feel cozy, you can do this by adding multiple sections of long tables to create an intimate feel. Also consider changing your plated dinner to family style dinner, this way your guests can pass the bread and create a warm and inviting family dinner. Lastly, have fun and think outside the box by curating something that truly represent you as a couple.”

Can’t find a venue that offers “space breakups” like I mentioned above? Create your own by renting hedges, lounges, or even cabanas that make you feel like you’re in multiple rooms. That will help “shrink” the space and make your large guest list seem much more intimate.

Callista of Callista and Company adds, “Well-designed layouts are a smart way to make a large guest list feel more intimate. Seat guests at a couple of very long tables instead of breaking everyone into smaller groups during dinner. Then encourage guests to mingle after dinner with an abundance of comfortable lounge furniture, dessert stations, and an interactive alternative to a traditional guest book.”

Cavin Elizabeth Photography

Maximize Face Time with Guests Over Several Days

Heather of LVL Weddings and Events says, “When you have a large number of guests, I suggest hosting a full wedding weekend! That way you can say hello to many of the guests at the welcome party the night before, enjoy the wedding and not worry about getting to speak to everyone and then mingle at brunch sharing stories of the incredible night before.”

She also offers an excellent tip for large weddings. “Remember moving a large number of guests from one area to the other can take a bit of time, as well as dinner service is longer so be sure to stretch out your reception timing to ensure a smooth flow and plenty of time for service, formalities and dancing!”

Cavin Elizabeth Photography

Give Each Guest a Personal Message

“Personalization is key when aiming to make a large guest list feel more intimate. Greet your guests with a handwritten note in their welcome gift. Incorporate time to talk to each guest at some point during your wedding weekend (pre and post events are key for accomplishing this), and consider leaving a thoughtful message on your guests’ dinner menus or escort cards. Then show your guests extra appreciation after you receive images from your photographer, by sending out curated selections of images of interest to them,” says Callista of Callista and Company.

A Laid Back Tropical Wedding Complete With an Epic Watercolor Cake!

We don’t know about you, but we’re counting down the days until sandals, flowy dresses and warm sunshine are back in our daily routine. While we *impatiently* wait for brighter days ahead, this colorful, sun-soaked wedding at Kukua Beach Club planned by Claire Duran Weddings and Events is here to satisfy all our summer cravings. Don’t miss out on the full gallery captured by Asia Pimentel Photography for some major tropical wedding inspo.

From Claire Duran Weddings and EventsMark and Lauren met through Lauren’s best friend, who had been dating a good friend of Mark. They were introduced at a July 4th party at The Hamptons and immediately got along really well. After that weekend, the rest was history! When I met them one of the things they told me about them is how they loved to travel to random new places together in search of the perfect sunsets. Romantic, I know!

Waiting for Summer to go to the beach with friends was their favorite part of the year. Needless to say, when it was time to decide where they would get married, Punta Cana, with its beaches and its sunsets, was everything they ever dreamed of. By the time that Lauren and Mark hired us, they had already put a deposit on a venue, called Kukua Beach Club. This was a venue I was familiarized with. As a result, when they told me that they were expecting around 150 guests, I hat to get my wheels turning right away, as this was a venue that capped around 90, when set in its traditional way.

But thanks to our wonderful production partners on the ground, instead of giving them the default reception under the restaurant palapa, we transformed the outer area, by fully covering the pool area with a custom floor and giving them an open and seaside reception, as it had never been done at that venue! People dined and dance all night long under bistro lights, touched by a Caribbean breeze and the most gorgeous water backdrop.

The wedding ended up having the perfect balance between Lauren and Mark’s style. For her, it was all about achieving something timeless, but without compromising a colorful palette. For him it was about finding a good mix between a tailored and sporty style. We tried to speak to all of that through the decor. But if I had to pick, one of my favorite elements of this day was the cake, and how Bake Artistry tried to take inspiration in Momental’s watercolor stationery detail and translate that into an edible masterpiece. Working with Lauren and Mark was the sweetest experience and we hope your readers find a lovely inspiration in their day!

A Storybook Korean Dohl Celebration

This sweet first birthday party combines traditional heritage with all things pretty! We can’t get enough of the personal details and color palette, and what a cool way to celebrate!

Charlotte’s 1st birthday party was just about as sweet as you can imagine. The celebration was a traditional Korean Dohl – the milestone celebration of a child’s first year of life.

The event included prayers for Charlotte and traditional Dohl elements including Korean rice cakes, gold jewelry and a Doljabi ceremony. The design for Charlotte’s Dohl started with her hanbok (the traditional Korean dress) that was brought back from Seoul by a family friend. Charlotte’s event designer mom used the colors of the hanbok as the jumping off point for the decor.

From the backdrop in the perfect shade of pale pink to the floral installations to the desserts, a color palette of pink, cream and touches of gold and green were carried throughout.

Charlotte spent most of her first year donning bows (hair will come later in her life) and with her favorite Cuddle and Kind doll so those two elements played another important role in the celebration. Naomi commissioned illustrations of Charlotte with her doll that graced the invites, signage and guest tables and bows made their way into the day on the cake, Charlotte’s party dress and the petit fors.

The celebration was rounded out with a fun guessing game of what Charlotte would choose during the Doljabi (a traditional Korean custom where it is believed that the object the child selects will represent the child’s future) and a showstopping 3-tiered birthday cake with bas-relief sugar flowers tied with Charlotte’s signature bow. The perfect day for a sweet girl to celebrate the rest of her life.

Looking for a Wedding Venue in Italy With Breathtaking Mediterranean Views? Look Right Here.

Bright pink peonies, a vintage getaway car, and views of Capri and the Mediterranean as far as the eyes can see – I mean, what more could a girl ask for, are we right?! Today’s wedding is filled with magic at every turn, planned by Capri Moments Event Design who made the couple’s dream of an intimate, relaxed yet glam wedding in Italy a reality. For all the details and unforgettable moments, from the first look to the last dance, head on over to the full gallery – captured by Peter and Veronika! P.S. you HAVE to read the adorable proposal story told by the bride below, it’s right out of a movie!

From Bride… After a few years of dating my now husband and I began fantasizing of our perfect wedding, and that’s where I first dropped the bomb – Italy. At the time, it seemed like a fantasy, but deep down I’ve always dreamt of a wedding in my beloved Italy. Since Nat is incredible, he replied, “I love that idea!” Maybe he was just going along with it for fun, I thought, but I loved him for it anyway. A few years later, on a perfect evening at home, with our dogs Hydie & Olivia on either side of me, he proposed. And what could possibly make the moment even better? Nat said “now we get to plan a wedding…in Italy!” I almost died of happiness.

After telling our family and friends that, yes, we really are getting married in Italy, the question we were most asked was “Italy?! Why?” Well, that’s a no-brainer. The huge, formal affair I dreamt of as a little girl was actually the opposite of what either of us wanted; a small wedding, with people we love, in a place that’s the most special to us. For Nat & I, that place is Capri. We vacationed there a year before getting engaged and knew instantly that the tiny, beautiful island was going to be a very special place for us.

The stunning colors, the warm & wonderful people, that magical blue water… Capri is truly like no other place on Earth. Nat & I envisioned an intimate and relaxed wedding, with effortless glamour, which is exactly Capri. With the ocean behind him, my cousin officiated; having someone we feel close to preform our ceremony was very special. Nat & I wrote our own vows that we’d not seen before the ceremony, which made is both laugh and cry. After we said “I do” and shared the best kiss of our lives, we walked back up the aisle to string musicians playing “Love Me Like You Do”, being showered in confetti that our guests made from a confetti table, to a champagne toast. The reception was adorned with bright flowers, lemons, cherries and endless white candles.

My family is Italian and we love to feed people, so the food was a big focus. Canapes, champagne and Aperol spritz to start, followed by three courses from Il Riccio’s Michelin star kitchen and desserts from their famed “Temptation Room”. It didn’t stop there; we danced the night away upstairs on the roof deck. That’s when we first saw the cake – good God the cake – the biggest most beautiful wedding cake, taller than me.

We asked our photographers and videographers to capture the real moments of laughter, tears, dancing, and kissing. Looking back at our photos and videos, it feels like we’re back in Capri on that perfect day. No wedding ever goes exactly to plan, but sometimes those are the good parts. Every part of our wedding was perfect – not because it was flawless, although it was to me, but because it was an absolute joy, and we would do it all over again exactly the same.

How to to Play With Boho Details While Keeping Your Wedding Timeless in Style

Today’s gorgeous couple tied the knot on a mountaintop in one of our all-time favorite wedding destinations – Vail, Colorado! Snapdragon Celebrations knew exactly how to blend the bride’s love of boho details with elegant, traditional decor making for the most stunning results. Plum Sage Flowers brought the natural colors of their surroundings into every arrangement, with a fresh color scheme of white, green and pops of warm hues. See it all at the full gallery captured to perfection by Adriana Klas!

The Story:

From Lauren, the Bride… We met in Lake Tahoe by way of my cousin (they are friends from high school) who had invited Anthony up to stay for the weekend. Early in the morning, Anthony was sitting in the family room of our house playing with my nephew, George, when I woke up. I had never met him before, but he sure was handsome and it seemed my nephew had already given him a stamp of approval. We spent the weekend hanging out on and around the lake quickly realizing there something special between us. After we went our separate ways home, we stayed in touch by talking everyday which eventually led to us dating long distance from San Francisco to Denver. After a year, I moved to Denver to be together where we now live with our dog Dasher. During that summer is when we got engaged in the same place we met, Lake Tahoe and he asked me to marry him on the pier and there was simply only one answer, yes! We may have fallen in love on the lake, but our story has become Coloradan so we decided to get married in the mountains in Vail, CO which is one of our favorite places no matter the season.

Inspiration:

We wanted the essence of our wedding to be the chicest dinner party we had ever thrown. The overall feeling of the party was to feel impactful yet relaxed, fun and colorful. The style I was aiming for was Traditional Boho – I like things clean, simple and classic but also love color and pattern. Design-wise I knew I wanted the tables to be covered in a mix of patterned linens with layers of votives, natural/wild looking flowers as well as plants covering the tables and tent. For the color palette I took in consideration the beautiful natural environment and wanted it be rooted in shades of blue, green and white with hints of warm tones – pinks and oranges. As for accessories and décor, we kept the vessels simple going with glass and concrete and the paper goods were a patterned watercolor designs that were colorful yet classic and simple.

Most important thing about our wedding day:

When planning, the most important things to us were our outfits, music, flowers and photography. On the day of our wedding, the most important thing for us was to be in the moment and enjoy all aspects from the scenery, people, and music. We achieved it by not over planning the day and allowing our vendors do what they do best! Looking back at the photos you can tell we had the best time with big smiles on our faces all day long from getting ready to the last song on the dance floor.

Favorite Details of Wedding:

How the tent came together with the mix of colors and patterns. It felt like a true reflection of what my dream dinner party would look like from the printed tablecloths, colorful flowers, luscious plants, hanging natural woven chandeliers/baskets and rattan furniture for lounge areas. That our outfits complimented each other with a nod to classic and timeless style yet with a little flair – mine with the back detail of my dress and his with the navy velvet slippers sans socks. The ceremony being at the top of vail mountain where we kept the flowers simple with an arch behind us allowing the view and us to be the main focus. We ended up getting a gorgeous blue sky day up in the mountains which was the perfect backdrop.
