Fort Lauderdale Wedding at the Bonnet House from Kat Braman Photography

It’s a well-known fact that returning from a holiday weekend isn’t always easy, but a beautiful bride with an “aversion to all things boring” and a drop-dead gorgeous Fort Lauderdale wedding can make the transition much, much easier.  Believe you me.  Especially when that wedding happens to be filled to the brim with vibrant hues, succulent-filled lovely from Victoria Park and one breathtaking image after another captured by Kat Braman Photography.  See them all in the full gallery.

From the Bride… I was never the kind of bride who had planned her wedding from when she was a girl, so when I started planning, we made things simple. We wanted our guests to have a good time, our food to be good, pictures memorable, and atmosphere fitting to my husband and I. Since we lived out of town, my parents did the initial scouting of locations. The first place they brought us to check out was the Bonnet House, and from that point on no other venue could compare. From its Floridian and art history roots (my husband is both a history and art buff) to its a rustic and beautifully refreshing setting, we were sold.

With the vivid colors of the Bonnet House as a backdrop and my aversion to all things boring, we went with a color scheme of brilliant purple, yellow, and dark green. After choosing my dress, which had a lace overlay to give the artistic flair of lace without weighing the dress down, I picked out most of my accessories from small artists on Etsy. Hairpieces, belt, and veil were all chosen to highlight but not overpower the dress. The bridesmaids picked their own style of dress from the Dessy After 6 line in African Violet, and the groomsmen rented tuxedos with silver vests from Joseph A Banks.

The rest of our wedding went so smoothly thanks to a handful of wonderful vendors. I’m not the most artistic person, but finding Victoria Park Flowers made it smooth sailing. Steven Turner took my initial thoughts on color scheme and whimsical request to integrate vegetables into the centerpieces and ran with it, turning it into something amazingly vivid and beautiful. I love sunflowers, but know they can be overwhelming, and he made sure to work them in beautifully. Event Bliss came in and made suggestions to make the tent where the reception was held more soft and festive, but overall, we let the beauty of the Bonnet House speak for itself.

All together, a weekend of fun on the beach with our closest friends and relatives, beautiful wedding weather, great food and some breathtaking photos helped make our wedding a great success.

Toronto Wedding from Ikonica

Sometimes it’s a bouquet, other times it’s a cake, and it can even be a simple DIY rosette that wins over my décor-loving heart… and then there are times like this where I get all three. T.H. Jackson Huang of Ikonica captured a wedding that is the complete trifecta of wedding décor and you are seriously going to be floored when you click here!

From the stunning bride… Jeremy and I had been together for 13 years (yes, we are high school sweethearts and yes, we do still exist in this day and age) before we finally decided to get hitched. He proposed to me during a vacation in Paris, in front of the Arc de Triomphe (I have decided since then to not read too deeply into the implicit symbolism). Fireworks did not explode in my head and I did not get teary eyed. It was all very natural and nice. We kissed, we hugged and promptly got food poisoned shortly afterwards. This whole episode cannot better illustrate us as a couple – 1 part romance, 2 parts practicality, and 3 parts pure dorkiness. Being in love with your best friend is probably the most wonderful and natural feeling in this world. It is this intangible feeling of being completely at ease that I really wanted to capture in our engagement shoot and wedding.

For our wedding venue, we chose the McLean House because it reminded us of my old family home in the picturesque West Vancouver, B.C., where we shared our very first kiss. The classical architectural elements and scenic backyard garden (a pivotal set for the romantic movie, The Time Traveler’s Wife) of the McLean House evoked a sense of warm intimacy that we wished to share with our family and friends. In a way, the venue truly became our home for the wedding day.

In terms of the wedding décor, the perfectionist in me started off wanting to do everything by myself but quickly realized that I was in way over my head. With the help of family, friends, and vendors (friendors!), we managed to complete several DIY projects in record speed! Some of the more memorable ones included an archway constructed from 200 handmade paper pom-poms (till this day, the word “pom-pom” still gives my poor sister conniptions); handmade satin flower pins which served the dual function of place card holders and fun little favours for guests to wear on their hair or lapels; pink lemonade jars decorated with vintage lace, copper charms and ribbons; paper straw mustaches and lips; fluffy homemade marshmallows to greet the guests; and my very, very favourite DIY project – pearl necklaces and bracelets that I made for each of my darling bridesmaids.

Lush floral arrangements of garden roses and vintage hydrangeas in various shades of soft pinks, peaches and cream played an integral part of our wedding décor. The bridesmaids carried gorgeous bouquets of garden roses tied with long satin sashes and the groomsmen sported dapper boutonniere of ranunculus and hypericum berries. I was giddy with excitement when I saw my bridal bouquet. It was a teardrop-shaped bouquet of the most stunning ranunculus (flew in especially from Holland), lily of the valley and astilbe, which perfectly completed my blush chiffon wedding gown.

We had originally wanted to say our vows in front of the DIY pom-pom archway, in the backyard garden of the McLean House. However, the ceremony ended up taking place indoors (thanks goodness for rain day backup plan) as it drizzled all day. Other than our vows to each other (Jeremy promised to always do the dishes, I promised to occasionally let him have the last cookie in the jar), my fondest memory of the ceremony was us presenting flowers to my mother, Jeremy’s mother and my 84-year-old grandmother who flew all the way from Taiwan just to attend our wedding. As the old adage goes, wedding day rain is a sign of good luck and indeed, we were truly lucky to be able to share our special day with those nearest and dearest to our hearts. The rain also painted a veil of vibrancy and softness to the surroundings and brought about a sense of closeness amongst the attendees. We absolutely loved how intimate, charming and fun our wedding turned out to be. We had an amazing team of wedding professionals behind the scenes and we simply couldn’t have done it without them!

Sonoma Wine Country Portraits by The McCartneys

I think everyone should do a ‘love’ shoot just to celebrate, well, love! Of course, it’s much easier to do when you have an amazing photog in your family like The McCartneys. Lucky for Stevi & Charles, they have a handful of gorgeous moments to remember from their Sonoma trip and lucky us, we’ve got the whole gallery to view as many times we please.

From The McCarneysWe’re simply giddy to share with you a session that we hold extra close to our hearts. Not just because we LOVE Sonoma and all things wine country, but also because the subjects of this session are family!!

We just escaped to Healdsburg, CA with family and while we were there, we had the chance to photograph Stevi & her boyfriend Charles. Stevi is Butch’s sister! It’s no secret that we LOVE everything California and everything wine-related; how can you not?! Put them together along with our favorite couple, great company, dreamy romantic light, and a house in the middle of a vineyard, and were head over heels! One evening, we took a break from vacationing to weave through vineyards and explore beautiful hillsides at sunset with Stevi & Charles. How adorable are they together!! We hope this session brings a smile to your face, while also making you want to book a trip to visit Sonoma.

Cherry Blossom Inspired Photo Shoot from lilelements + Ruffles and Bells

I’m a firm believer that right along with a big cup of coffee, your day should start with a big dose of inspiration on the side too. Enough to fuel your day with fabulous thoughts – and today, that dose comes by way of the pretty images sitting below by lilelements styled by Ruffles and Bells. It’s the perfect way to start your day, and it’s all ready for you right here.

From lilelementsThis shoot was a collaboration between some talented vendors with our stylist, Eliska from Ruffles and Bells, co-organising the shoot with me. The theme for this shoot revolved around the delicate short lived flower known as Sakura or Cherry Blossoms. The inspiration behind this idea was to welcome the upcoming spring season, Eliska and I wanted to capture the light hearted flower using pastels and keeping it simple. The location chosen for this photo-shoot was Brighton Le Sands beach in Sydney, Australia. I’ve chosen this beach due to its beautiful fine white sand and the clean blue waters; the location was great as it’s not too crowded. The day started out with a cold sunny morning but as we were setting up the sun kept on staying out to play which reminded us that spring was just around the corner. The endless blue skies went really well with our pastel palette, with not one single cloud spotted.

Lusia from Antique Events was wonderful to work with; she had the most gorgeous inventory of vintage props and furniture. Eliska felt like she was a little kid opening up all her Christmas toys, she just wanted to use every single thing there was. Lusia also had a wooden ladder which was just a vintage and rustic feel that it was too pretty that we had to use it, it became one of the main props in one of our photo-shoots. Sandy from FloraNectar did such a great job getting the cherry blossom flowers and branches, we were so worried that we couldn’t get any as cherry blossoms were only starting to bloom around our shoot. Not only did she get the branches but she is so talented at using similar flowers and creating the cascading bouquet, it was just so pretty that I fell in love with it, she got me at orchids.

Leigh from The Cupcake House went all out in her beautiful cakes, cupcakes, tarts and macarons. Eliska and I was just stunned at how much effort Leigh did for the dessert table and just loving the naked cakes she made. The meringue tower was amazing! We just had troubles of holding ourselves from not eating it. Tanya from Eden Rose had the most spectacular lace dresses I’ve ever seen, her fine detail lace with embellish beads was to die for….I was just so enticed that I want to get married when I first saw these dresses. What also made the dress pop out was using some of the prettiest bridal accessories I’ve seen from Bespoke by Renee.

The two models were naturals, Amy Segal and Lea Mitchell both had their make up and hair done by Morena Abellar and Kapesa Chatterjee. They kept it very light and simple, such angelic faces if you ask me. The shoot is an inspiration to welcome Spring and Summer this coming months. We want to feature the pastel tones that are ever so popular this year with romantic laces and vintage touches that compliment the freshness of Spring.

Manitoba Wedding by Gina Brandt Photography

I couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear when I came across this wedding from Gina Brandt Photography. It’s the type of wedding that will warm your heart and then some, leaving you giddy for the rest of the day. And really, what’s better than that? It’s sweet and stylish, and it’s all waiting for you right here in the full gallery of images.

From the Bride…Shawn and I grew up in two very different worlds.  I was the typical city girl and he was a true country boy. As fate would have it, our two worlds met when Shawns friend recommended he get his haircut by me in July 2006. I didn’t know it then, but would soon find out that he is a very special man. Over the next four years we had a casual client/customer relationship and we slowly became friends.  I have a son from a previous relationship and was always very skeptical about introducing men to my son, but with Shawn it just seemed right.  Two short years later we were engaged.

Our wedding vision was intimate and rustic. We were surrounded by sixty-five of our closest family and friends. The Falcon Trails Resort has become very special to Shawn and me as we have celebrated our birthdays there for the past two years. We wanted our wedding to be simple but with a variety of different textures. With the gorgeous location, we didn’t want anything that would take away from the scenery so we did our best to compliment it! From the flowers, to the glass mason jars, to the grey burlap squares placed on the tables, we wanted our day to reflect us. One way that I personalized my wedding was with my bouquet.  My brother was killed on a grey hound bus almost 5 years ago and I wanted him to somehow be with me on my wedding day. My mom and I were looking through his old chest of keepsakes and we found this grey camp bandanna (he was known for wearing bandannas).  I figured it was fate, because my colors were grey, white and green, we wrapped it around the stems of my bouquet and it fit perfectly!

We had a number of people traveling from a distance to celebrate our day with us, so we decided to make it a weekend retreat for our guests.  The lake setting couldn’t have been more relaxing and peaceful. We had a big BBQ on Friday evening and all the men were invited to join Shawn for breakfast on Saturday morning before the celebration began! We had such a great time with all the people in our lives that we truly love and love us in return.  We couldn’t have imagined anything more and I am so happy to officially start my forever with my best friend and the man of my dreams.

Romantic + Rustic Wedding at Emerson Creek from Christopher | F Photography

You’d never, ever guess a day this fabulous was planned in six months flat. But sure enough, that’s all the time it takes to pull off one perfectly crafted “I do.” And with Christopher|F Photography there to document every darling detail, there’s a whole lot of swoonage from this Midwest affair waiting for you here.

From the Bride… After six months of endless planning, the big day had finally arrived. Looking back now I am so happy to say that I would not have changed one thing. From the very first decision of finding the venue, the planning process was exciting and joyful. We found the perfect farm/barn venue, Emerson Creek Pottery and Tearoom in Oswego, Illinois, from a suggestion of my husband’s co-worker. We first saw Emerson Creek in the dead of winter, but even in its starkness, it was still very beautiful. From the pictures we saw online and seeing the venue in person we fell in love with it. We didn’t see the venue again until the spring, and with everything in full bloom, it was everything I imagined it to be. The rustic and casually elegant feel, suited me perfectly!

The day of the wedding, everything came together perfectly. All the people who worked so hard and genuinely wanted our day to be great cannot be thanked enough. From our patient and flexible wedding coordinator Shari, to our caterer Tasia from Catering 59 who provided delicious food (people are still talking about it), to our talented photographer Christopher from Christopher F Photography, to the Paper Spot for providing attentive and helpful service for the wedding invitations and thank you’s, to our videographer and family friend Bob, to our florist Kim from Jewel, to my make-up artist Linda from Beautify Spa and Make-up, to the photo booth company Platinum Flash, to the amazingly talented band The Bluewater Kings, to my personal decorators Aunt Claudia, Uncle Lowell and family friends Mary and Carol, to the great people behind the scenes who helped with the wedding video my brother-in-law Tom, and husbands friends Jason and Pat, to Bella Sposa for helping me find the perfect dress, to Janet from Jos F. Bank for providing quality service for the suits, to our Pastor Scott Kircher from Hickory Creek for presiding over our marriage, to Emerson Creek for making sure the venue looked in pristine condition, to Travel Tap for serving our guests with a smile, to all of our guests who came from great distances to share in our day, to our families who made our day so meaningful by being able to watch 19 of our nieces and nephews walk down the isle, to our great friends who happily stood up which made us feel honored, and most of all to our parents for all their financial support, love, and encouragement throughout the whole process.

I will always remember all the little details from that day that so often go unnoticed, but take lots of time, coordinating, and planning… the floral and striped straws, the mason jars and watering cans that held all the colorful wildflowers for centerpieces and the aisle, my blue toe nail polish for my something blue, the honey jar wedding favors/table numbers, the photo app card for our guests to capture the night, my cowboy boots, the simple and elegant wedding invitations and thank you’s, the candles and frog lids on all the center piece mason jars, the programs for the ceremony, my veil, the handkerchiefs for all the groomsman and groom, the haystacks for the kids to sit on after they walked down the isle, the suspenders on the little boys and the dads, the perfectly coordinated and pressed t-shirts, suits, shoes, socks and belts for the groomsman, ushers, and groom, the balloons and sign (Kerry and Jeff Wedding) at the entrance of Emerson Creek, the amazing pie display in the wooden hutch and drawers, the catering company who wore chef hats, the complimentary water and lemonade offered by Emerson Creek for guests at the ceremony, the mothers’ dresses, shoes, and jewelry, the flower girl baskets, cowboy boots, and wreaths in their hair, the junior bridesmaids slippers and flower in their hair, the casual look of the Jr. Groomsman ties and rolled up sleeves, the wooden card holder crate and hand-crafted wedding guestbook and wooden pens in the stump holder, and the list goes on and on!

The surrounding scenery that day was breathtaking with a background set to wildflowers, evergreens, green rolling hills, corn fields, a beautiful blue barn with white sliding doors and chandeliers, an old gravel road, and a tea room with a country porch and rocking chairs…as the sun was setting it made everything surrounding the farm and the barn just sparkle. It was the middle of July and we had weather in the low 80’s with complete sunshine! Amazing for an outdoor wedding in the summer! It was truly a PERFECT day!

God couldn’t have made this day any more amazing! The sounds and visuals of our family and friends laughing and conversing meant so much to us. To think… 15 years ago in 8th grade I would meet the man I was going to marry has been my greatest blessing in disguise.

From The Special DayKei & Yusuke being world travelers and adventurers themselves, it was important to them to have a wedding where their family and friends could come together to enjoy a new culture & country together. But the priority was having a location that offered a little bit of everything  for those with the more adventurous spirit several activities to choose from, to those that just wanted to relax at the beach. With guests that lived on both coasts of the U.S., as well as from Japan, Costa Rica was a nice central point being approximately 6 hours from either the West or East Coasts, and being on Central Standard Time, there wasn’t too much of a time adjustment, or jet lag. Manuel Antonio on the Central Pacific side of Costa Rica offered all the various activities and characteristics that Kei and Yusuke were looking for  from surfing, scuba diving, white water rafting, hiking, the beach, wildlife, and logistically not hard to get to, plus being one of the premier destinations in Costa Rica. It was an intimate group of about 40 guests, and we planned a multi-day itinerary of events and group activities so that guests could experience Manuel Antonio & Costa Rica at its best. Late November was just tapering off from the rainy season or green season, but before heading into their peak season. We handled all the planning and organization of each activity & event, the logistics, and provided detailed information via the wedding website, the invitations, and email communication regarding what to expect, the packing list, as well as arranged airport shuttle transportation to/from San Jose Airport down to Manuel Antonio for all guests, which the bride and groom hosted. Even for the casual lunches or dinners, we made the recommendations, handled the reservations, as well as the transportation. This was just a short list, as with all destination weddings we plan, we take care of every detail  we become the travel guide, the concierge, the tripadvisor guide, the consultant, the planner, the logistics coordinator, the translator  sometimes the baby sitter, the driver, the wardrobe stylist, the chef, the bartender, the sommelier, as well as having the positive encouraging attitude to hold a hand and jump in the water together! While there were many group lunches & dinners that we organized for the wedding week, we share here several of the different events and activities pre and post wedding day of Kei & Yusukes Costa Rica Destination Wedding:

Day 1 – Family & Friends started arriving on Thanksgiving Day. Instead of having traditional Thanksgiving style dinner with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, yams, and fixings, we had one of the best local restaurants in Quepos/Manuel Antonio  La Esquina del Sabor cater the dinner, serving tipico Costa Rican cuisine and freshly made tropical juices.

Day 2 – After breakfast at the hotel we took the group for a morning hike to Manuel Antonio National Park, a must see in the area, in which you will see wildlife, flora & fauna, and amazing views of the ocean from various lookout points. Then you can enjoy and swim in the warm ocean, with a picnic along the beautiful beach. Along the hike, we saw sloths, white faced monkeys, a raccoon, lots of iguanas, and a crocodile! After the hike, in the afternoon for the more adventurous spirits, the guests went zip lining through the jungles.. exhilarating to fly atop and through the trees.

Day 3 – Wedding day! Kei & Yusuke didnt want a beach wedding, but a location with an ocean view would be perfect. Villa Vigia  a private estate overlooking Manuel Antonio and the Pacific, set the stage & backdrop for Kei & Yusukes Costa Rica destination wedding day. An intimate wedding ceremony & reception for 40 of their closest family and friends was exactly what the bride and groom had in mind. Appetizers during the cocktail hour included 1. Costa Rican ceviche with coconut milk, ginger and bananas, 2. Patacones (fried green plantain) with refried black beans, 3. French live pate and onion jelly on baguette, 4. Carribean patties (Costa Rican spicy empanaditas) and 5. Trout tartare with berry caper on avocado toast. Wine for the evening was provided by Vino d Vino, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Carmenere, Malbec, and Merlot from Cumbres Andinas, Chile. With a plethora of tropical fruits, we had a juice bar to serve passion fruit, pineapple and mango juices, as well as fresh mint lemonade. The bamboo straws are made locally in Costa Rica. Salad: Fresh Hearts of Palm & Pineapple Salad, with Grilled Macadamia. The evenings menu included: Appetizer: Shrimp Tempura with Mango and Avocado Salsa, Entrees: Seabass in a Passion Fruit & Miso Sauce with Braised BokChoy, Beef Tenderloin with Guava and Red Wine Sauce

We ended the night with dancing and even had a salsa instructor to come in and teach guests how to salsa dance!

Day 4 – The day after the wedding, instead of a post-wedding brunch, we started the day a little later (knowing the guests would have a lot of fun the night before at the wedding). Kayaking through the mangroves was a nice and relaxed activity. Heres a description of the activity: Paddle through the smooth inland waterways of the Damas Island Estuary, one of the most unusual types of vegetation on the planet, and learn the importance of this delicate ecosystem. Mangroves thrive where the salt waters of the ocean meet the fresh waters of tropical rivers creating a periodically submerged forest of interlacing aerial roots. Your guide will show you the wealth of animal and bird life that lives in this unique habitat, such as mangrove wrens, swallows and an abundance of shore birds. On the banks of the estuary, youll see the main protagonists of the mangrove ecosystem; the Sally light foot crab, as well as boa constrictors tangled in the aerial roots, silky ant eaters and monkeys in the upper branches and crocodiles slipping in and out of the water. After a relaxing day paddling in the estuary, we headed back to the condos at Los Altos Resort and enjoyed time by the pool and watching the sunset which is one of the amazing scenes because the sky just lights up like fire

Day 5 – One of the activities the bride & groom had on their must do list was white water rafting, which I was happy to oblige with being a white water enthusiast myself. Near Manuel Antonio the Rio Savegre is only about a 50 minute drive  one of the cleanest rivers in the country, with fun class 3 rapids. We took the adventure group for a fun day on the river, with a hike to the waterfalls. The drive to the river is scenic and beautiful as well. Rafting is a great team building & bonding exercise and definitely fun to do as a pre or post wedding activity. You dont need any experience or need to swim to be able to go white water rafting!

Day 6 – A great way to end the week of fun, adventure, and a lifetime of memories on a sunset cruise around Manuel Antonio (this cruise is also a great welcome event if timing appropriate)

Rhode Island Wedding at the Waterman Grille from Jen Ing Photography

To be totally honest, I’m not usually one to be drawn to purple. Pink is just more my style. But after spending mere seconds with this Rhode Island wedding from Jen Ing Photography, I realized I might have been on the wrong team all along. Because if “team purple” looks anything like this elegant “I do,” it’s most definitely the side I want to be on.

From the Bride… Ed and I met when he was a graduate student and I was an undergrad working in his lab at Michigan State University. He very discretely asked me out for ice cream on my birthday when no one else was around and the rest is history.

Right from the start, we knew that we wanted our wedding to be intimate and to focus on the small things to really make it ours. And since our family and close friends were traveling great distances from, other parts of the US, Canada, Hong Kong and Malaysia, to Providence for our wedding, we wanted to make sure that we could cherish the time with them as much as possible. We decided to have the wedding at the Waterman Grille where we would have a scenic backdrop overlooking the Seekonk River while dining inside their elegant dining room. It was the perfect location for our small, intimate, and elegant wedding that we had envisioned.

We tried to put our own personal touches on things, and one of my favorites was our wedding invitation. Ed has always had an eye for design, and was inspired by an idea he had seen online using origami hearts. We carefully folded the hearts that had our wedding date printed on them, and tied them to paper tags with the RSVP on them. I absolutely loved their understated simplicity and their uniqueness plus we had tons of fun making them together! We also put our own touches on the wedding favors. Days before the wedding, I made hundreds of homemade lemon cookies and nestled them in miniature versions of traditional Chinese wedding gift baskets that my sister had brought from Malaysia. They were too cute to resist! Our guests signed their well wishes on an artistic print of the iconic Biltmore Hotel in Providence by Dan Butler, as a memory of where we got engaged and married. In loving memory of my parents, I displayed their wedding portrait as a tribute to them. Also, in keeping with our Chinese heritage, we poured tea for our family members as a sign of respect in this time-honored tradition.

As for the ceremony, a close friend of ours officiated the wedding for us. It was a tender moment when my sister walked me down the aisle and seeing Ed looking handsome, waiting at the end. Looking back, we were lucky to be able to share this precious moment with people who are near and dear to us. There is absolutely nothing I would change about our wedding except that I wished my parents were able to witness that day.

Lake Lanier Wedding from VUE Photography

Weddings like this Lake Lanier beauty by VUE Photography always make me wish I could crawl through the computer screen and experience it all first hand. The gorgeous lake-side setting, the oh-so in love couple, the pretty vintage details – it all makes for one gorgeous day. Beyond gorgeous actually. Thankfully, we all get to soak it all up right here in the full gallery.

From VUE PhotographyAli an Nick’s wedding was in early Fall of 2012.  Set beside Lake Lanier the whole event was out doors.  Greys, Whites, Blushes, Greens, and touches of Aqua, and pink were the colors.  There was a bit of a message in a bottle theme!

Aurora, Ohio Wedding from Arielle Doneson Photography

If Arielle Doneson Photography shoots it, it’s automatically added to my favorites list. Seriously, everything this girl touches is golden, but when you start out with a wedding that is knock your socks off stunning then add Arielle’s seasoned eye into the mix, it’s golden and then some. Not to mention, the bride’s sister is Lauren Chism Fine Papers – swoon. I’m 100% completely obsessed with this wedding!

From the photographer… In the gorgeous light of pastoral Aurora, OH, Carley and John married in a traditional ceremony surrounded by 230 of their nearest and dearest in a wedding that was a perfect blend of traditional, rustic and elegant.

Carley is fortunate enough to have brilliant stationer, Lauren Chism, as her older sister which meant that her paper suite was flawless – a mixture of charming gilded calligraphy and a beautiful patterned paisley letterpress.

The colors of the day continued the theme of muted golds, and silvers (as highlighted by the 1920’s inspired bridesmaid’s cocktail dresses,) and coral accents like those seen in Carley’s elegant Prada shoes. These elegant touches were a dramatic compliment to her delicate lace gown. I was absolutely obsessed with her bouquet: a combination of rustic herbs (lavender, and other seasonal offerings,) with the classic elegance of peonies and traditional ivy. Needless to say it smelled divine!

Following their deeply emotional and heartfelt ceremony, the couple found themselves whisked away to the reception under a shower of tossed lavender in a fabulous vintage Cadillac.

Their ballroom reception featured centerpieces that seemed effortlessly handpicked from a perfectly manicured wildflower and herb garden, a trio of cakes which appeared frosted by hand with decadent buttercream, and more beautiful calligraphy touches by Courtnie Johnson of Poppy Pedals.

I felt so honored to be a part of capturing this beautiful love story on film. As the cloudy sky burst into a gorgeous Ohio sunset right as we began their portraits I felt that I was part of something truly miraculous! Congrats Carley and John!

Farewell to Summer Photo Shoot from Ruth Eileen Photography

Labor Day is upon us which means a bittersweet goodbye to those warmer days and longer nights. But rather than fret over such a rushed farewell, we’re choosing to soak in every last ounce of summer while we still can thanks to our dear friend Ruthie. She put together the loveliest last bash of the season along with Sweet Annie Floral Design. And while goodbyes are never, ever easy, we think an excuse to throw a party like this makes the transition so much sweeter.

From Ruth Eileen PhotographyLiving in the northeast where the winters are brutal, you come to greatly appreciate summer and cherish the short window of time you have with it. When August comes, you know the seasons farewell is just around the corner. Rather than being down about the summers end, we thought it would be fitting to celebrate instead and give the season a proper send-off with a happy cheers.

This inspired shoot is saturated with peaches, the perfect summertime fruit. The table spread is simple yet elegant and inviting. Katie of Sweet Annie Floral Design did a beautiful job playing with the peach and pastel tones for the table dcor, including hints of gold here and there. To add to the celebration, we included an exquisite party favor box for guests, complete with a bottle of peach-infused bourbon, peach cookies, and a small jar of peach jam. Each gift sits nicely within its wooden favor box styled by Kelly of Winifred Paper and calligraphy design by Poppy Pedals.

And how could we give proper cheers without dessert and some bourbon sweet tea? In our opinion, its the perfect way to enjoy the summer evening as it comes to a close. We fixed up a Cobbler Bar with yummy fruit, granola, nuts and vanilla ice cream  trust us, it was as delicious as it sounds and looks. This shoot left us thankful for the summertime and all of the joys it brings. We hope it brings inspiration for your next summer dinner party or wedding reception. Summer, we give you a fond farewell, cheers to you!

Hamptons Inspiration from Jacqueline Patton and Michelle Wolfe

If I could start my morning with this Hamptons inspiration shoot every day I think I’d require much less caffeine. Allow Me Events pulled together a look that is altogether casual, beautiful, and chic, and with Jacqueline Patton and Michelle Wolfe snapping the beautiful pictures, this gallery is worth a cup of coffee or two!

Our rustic Hamptons inspiration shoot was inspired by blending varying elements to create a garden-meets-ocean setting. Laid-back elegance was the overall feel. An ocean-front estate’s cliffside was the perfect location for a large farm-table, canopied in white fabric (using actual branches) and nestled into a clearing surrounded by trees. Kerri of Allow Me Events incorporated coral-pinks flowers as a pop of color among the moss and other greenery, all set atop a burlap runner.

The bride is dressed in a Coren Moore chiffon gown – perfect in heels AND in cowboy boots! The Coren Moore chiffon bridesmaid dresses in blush and mustard perfectly complimented the coral/green floral designs without being matchy-matchy.

Custom invitations were designed with a modern yet romantic and rustic aesthetic, incorporating the blush and mustard hues. Matching table-number cards were displayed in a bleached wood frame. And instead of cake, pies and tarts were the perfect dessert for this seaside fete.[dotted]

From the Bride… Our wedding was perfect. After I found my dress, a gorgeous Modern Trousseau lace gown, we knew we’d be going for a vintage classic look with a modern twist. Mustard yellow is my favorite color so we punctuated the elegant cremes, whites, and greys of the reception room with oncidium lilies, accent pillows, and my Badgley Mischka mustard pumps. We also tried to incorporate family heirlooms into our day. I wore a sixpence piece in my shoe for good luck – the same coin my mother had in her shoe on her wedding day – and pearl studs that were my great grandmother’s. I also wore a garter that was made by my husband’s grandmother that has been worn by every child/grandchild in their family. At the entrance to the reception, we included photographs of other family members’ on their wedding day. The reception was a blast and a testament to my mother’s keen eye for design. We danced the night away to the phenomenal band Serenade of Souls and left in a vintage Bentley driven by Duane Magnuson.

Larkspur Wedding from OneLove Photography

Once upon a time I lived in Larkspur for a blip of a moment but that blip was so, so stinkin beautiful. It’s one of those places that’s as pretty in person as in the images by onelove photography; all rolling hills and easy elegance with San Francisco a mere hop, skip and a jump a way. It’s pretty perfect and this wedding crafted by Claire Curran + Chestnut and Vine brings me right back to that time. Check out the full gallery right here.

From the Bride…Our goal was to throw an awesome party with all of our favorite people and planning the party was truly a team effort. When it came to making our day unique to us it was all in the details. My aunt is an insanely talented graphic designer and lucky for us she offered to help with all of the printed material. She worked with us to develop a design for each component from the invitation, to the program, to the jam favor labels. We decided to use natural driftwood for the table card stands. Our dads actually collected it together with John and my dad cut slits through the center of each piece to hold the table cards. John and I worked together to create the table cards, each of which was a different animal we’d seen together. I watercolored each animal as John gave me his expert advice on animal biology. John’s mom hand sewed beautiful little pillows for the ring bearers. My sisters came up with an amazing playlist for the DJ. Our families surprised us with a slideshow of our lives before and after meeting eachother that played during the reception. All of these personal touches are what stand out when I think back to our wedding day.

As an architect, the spatial environment is something I’m always thinking about. We had no idea where we wanted to get married when we first started planning, I just knew it had to be an indoor/outdoor space with high ceilings and timeless architecture. The ceremony took place in a gothic catherdral in San Francisco. It was grand and romantic, but very traditional. The reception was a transition to a more relaxed and rustic atmosphere. We wanted to incorporate a very natural feeling to the dcor, beginning with the venue itself. The Tavern helped set the tone for this, being a restored Victorian set in a redwood grove, and the dcor added to the affect. We focused heavily on the flowers and softer elements of decor. Our florist was amazing! She ensured us that all the flowers to be seasonal. We went for a wild and whimsical look with a lot of texture. The ribbon canopy over the outdoor bar was an element I’d envisioned from the very beginning as a way to define that space and bring in some elements of color. We were thrilled with the final result. In fact, one of my favorite moments was entering the cocktail hour with John and experiencing everything wed worked so hard to plan in real life, with all of our friends and family right there to greet us!

Johns grandfather was a fisherman from Italy and seafood has always been huge for his family. John always brings oysters to family gatherings at my house, and we all have so much fun eating them together. Its a fun food to eat because it’s all about the experience of doing it with others. And thats exactly how it played out at the wedding. The oyster bar was a huge hit!

Our reception was a short drive from the church, across the Golden Gate bridge to Marin. We wanted everyone to be able to enjoy the evening without worry about driving home so we provided buses to take guests to and from the reception. We stocked the buses with coolers full of beer and champage so our guests could get the party started right after the ceremony. Our goal was to throw an awesome party and I knew I’d be ready for a drink after the ceremony, so I figured my friends would too! Since Johns family lives on the east coast as well as most of my extended family, most of our guests were visiting from out of town. We had the buses stop at the Golden Gate lookout point for a quick photo before heading to the cocktail hour.

John and I met when he mistakenly messaged me on Facebook. He confused me for his friends girlfriend, also named Lindsay, who he was supposed to meet for the first time that weekend. After realizing his mistake John threatened to de-friend me which I took offense to, and so began a playfully comnbatic conversation, the first of many. We shared our ultimate to do lists” and spent the first few months getting to know each other through emails and phone calls. Eventually, John came out to San Francisco from Denver to take me on our first real date. After a terribly awkward thirty minutes at my apartment, where my roommate stuck around to make sure John wasn’t a psycho killer, we went out and had the best date ever! On our second date, a month later, we went skydiving and John stayed for the weekend. A month after that John packed his car and moved to San Francisco. Being active and pursuing adventure together is what connected us and continues to be a huge part of our life together. Our wedding needed to represent us a couple and finding ways to incorporate these aspects of who we are was what made our wedding day unique to us.

I am much more detail oriented while John tends to looks at the bigger picture. Planning our wedding was a huge learning experience for us and as silly as it sounds I can honestly say that we are stronger because of it. Learning to compromise and not to get stuck on any particular idea was huge for both of us. Being open to the opinions of others and staying grounded in making decisions that were best for both of us was not always easy, but relying on each other through the process is what made us stronger. Everyone has an opinion when it comes to your big day and its so easy to get overwhelmed with the details. Choose a handful of things to focus and and prioritize from there.

Rustic Dinner Party from Cara Leonard

Though I’m not quite ready to welcome Autumn with open arms, I have to admit that this rustic mountain party is giving me a hint of the warm and fuzzies. The thoughtful details and adorable late Summer, early Fall-inspired moments are a sweet reminder of what’s to come. Beautifully designed by Frosted Pink Weddings and captured by the wildly talented Cara Leonard, there’s a whole gallery full of gorgeous images that you simply must see.

Fun little fact: This adorable Rustic, backyard inspired celebration was actually a wedding reception! Goes to show that people have the most fun at gatherings that truly reflect the hosts. Whether it’s a wedding, a back-to-school celebration or a just-because kind of get together, make sure it’s one that really reflects who you are as a party thrower!

From photographer, Cara LeonardThis pair wanted a celebration that was rustic, laid back, and in the mountains. They said over and over that they really wanted their guests to just, “Have a good time”. A little BBQ, some country music in the background, horseshoes, cupcake bar, and s’mores. Every detail of this event was thoughtfully put together, and carried out in excellence!
