Amanda + Parker ditched a traditional reception in favor of a cocktail-style dinner that encouraged connection, movement, and spontaneity. There were passed bites, a sushi bar, and fresh + seasonal inspired dishes, but the star of the night was the pick up and go, Aperol Spritz bar-a unique and fun way to highlight the couple’s signature drink.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The florals by the Traveling Flower Ladies were directly inspired by the bride, who is a lover of color working in harmony with natural romance. Their vision was brought to life with Dutch master paintings in mind. Fruit and candlelight were present beside seasonal organic design filled with soft & sophisticated autumnal blooms mixed with robust greenery and earth tones. From the ceremony through the reception, there were playful floral moments everywhere, each bursting with lush garden roses, soft pink hydrangea, and whimsy.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The couple moved away from a traditional wedding cake and instead opted for a dessert station! Guests loved being able to choose from a variety.

The ceremony took place outdoors amongst a stunning fall background on a custom, crescent riser that brought friends + family closer into the joyful moment while vibrant, layered florals immersed the couple in their personal garden, adding movement, color, and personality.

Without the formal dinner reception, guests were on the dance floor from the second they walked in. Sarah Brehant Events layered in bold, intentional details: dynamic lighting from Shindig Lighting transformed the space while curated lounge moments and high top tables made the space feel social and fluid, and a constant flow of cocktails kept the vibe relaxed and celebratory. The entire night felt like an extension of Amanda and Parker- vibrant, welcoming, a little unexpected, and effortlessly cool.

A Chic Greek Island Wedding with Mirrored Tables and Mediterranean Light

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Agios Isidoros Church, Chios, Greece August 21, 2025 On August 21, 2025, Joanne Koutsoulias and Apostolos Feretzanis — two Greek creatives living in New York — were married on the island of Chios in a celebration that felt as timeless and romantic as the landscape itself. With Joanne working in luxury fashion at Chanel and Apostolos immersed in creative construction and design, the couple shares an appreciation for beauty, heritage, and intentional detail — values that shaped every element of their wedding day. Wedding Colours Our palette was inspired directly by the setting of Agios Isidoros — crisp white against the Aegean blue, sun-warmed terracotta, natural stone, and soft olive greens. The church’s whitewashed walls and red-tiled roof became part of the visual language of the day, while the deep sea and golden horizon added depth and warmth. At the reception, layered whites and creams were balanced with olive-toned runners and lush greenery, creating continuity from ceremony to celebration. Subtle blush tones — reflected in my gown and shoes — added softness without overpowering the Mediterranean setting. The colors felt organic, romantic, and timeless, as though the wedding had grown naturally from the island itself.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

From the bride: For the reception, we envisioned modern Greek romance layered with texture, light, and movement. Structured tables and mirrored surfaces created a refined foundation, while olive-toned runners and lush greenery grounded the space in Mediterranean warmth. Above, cascading white florals transformed the ceiling into an immersive canopy, punctuated by crystal chandeliers and suspended disco balls that added dimension and subtle glamour. Candlelight reflected off mirrored tabletops, creating depth and glow as the evening unfolded. The overall atmosphere felt abundant yet intentional — polished, sculptural, and joyfully alive.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

From the bride: Apostolos proposed in Provence, France, while we were on vacation, staying at Hotel Crillon Le Brave. Surrounded by rolling vineyards and golden evening light, the moment felt suspended in time. It was intimate and deeply personal, just the two of us in the quiet romance of the South of France. The warmth of the air, the stillness of the countryside, and the emotion of the moment made it unforgettable. It was perfect in its simplicity — a beginning rooted in intention, beauty, and love.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

From the bride: I got engaged in July 2024, and I always knew I wanted to wear Mira Zwillinger on my wedding day. I was able to secure an appointment for her trunk show the first week of August — just before leaving for Greece for vacation and to begin wedding planning. It felt serendipitous from the start. The gown I ultimately chose was the very first dress I tried on. Although I explored a few others, I kept returning to that initial moment — and said yes to the first one. It was also the first and only bridal salon I visited. The experience was deeply personal and intimate, shared with just my mom, my grandmother, and my sister. It felt calm, emotional, and certain — a memory I will always hold close. The strapless sweetheart neckline framed a delicate three-dimensional floral appliqué that felt almost weightless against the skin. The fitted bodice flowed into a romantic skirt layered in intricate lace, with a soft blush undertone that gave the gown warmth and depth rather than stark white contrast. It felt feminine yet strong — ethereal yet structured, timeless with modern clarity. From the sea breeze outside the church to dancing beneath chandeliers at the reception, the dress moved effortlessly, as if it belonged exactly where we were. Shoes, because my gown had a soft blush undertone, I knew I didn’t want a stark white shoe. I had a surprisingly difficult time finding something that complemented the warmth of the dress without competing with it. My koumbara — the Greek equivalent of a maid of honor — helped me in the search, and just a few weeks before my first dress fitting, she came across the perfect pair: brand-new, never-worn, blush satin Manolo Blahnik sandals in my exact size on The RealReal. It felt serendipitous, like they were meant to be mine. Working in fashion — and previously as a buyer for women’s designer shoes at Barneys New York — Manolo Blahnik has always been a brand that encompassed my world. I’ve long admired its timeless femininity and refined craftsmanship, and choosing that pair felt entirely true to my personal aesthetic — polished, chic, and quietly confident.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”][/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

From the bride: Apostolos wore a tailored navy tuxedo that felt both timeless and distinctly modern against the whitewashed church and Aegean backdrop. The deep navy tone softened the formality of black while maintaining classic elegance. He paired it with a crisp white dress shirt, black bow tie, and black Christian Louboutin velvet loafers — adding subtle texture and understated refinement. Cartier cufflinks and delicately embroidered initials on his shirt cuff introduced a meaningful personal detail, while Bleu de Chanel completed the look with an invisible layer of polished sophistication. As the evening transitioned into a high-energy celebration, he changed into Golden Goose sneakers, one of his favorites — a relaxed yet intentional shift that allowed him to fully embrace the dance floor while keeping the styling elevated. The evolution of his look mirrored the arc of the night: refined and formal at the start, vibrant and celebratory by the end.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]From the bride:
Our menu celebrated traditional Greek cuisine elevated with intention. Fresh seafood, seasonal vegetables, local cheeses, and beloved regional dishes were served in a way that encouraged connection and warmth. Greek wines flowed throughout the evening, alongside celebratory pours of ouzo and signature cocktails inspired by Mediterranean flavors.

We wanted guests to experience Chios through every bite and glass — to feel the generosity, abundance, and hospitality that define Greek celebrations.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

From the bride: Florals were sculptural, tonal, and immersive. White blooms — including calla lilies, orchids, hydrangeas, and layered seasonal florals — were paired with rich greenery to create depth without heaviness. Mirrored tabletops reflected candlelight and arrangements, enhancing dimension and glow. The cascading floral canopy overhead, combined with crystal chandeliers and suspended disco balls, created a setting that felt romantic yet vibrant — abundant yet refined.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]From the bride:

Our wedding cake was a showpiece — an oversized mille-feuille layered with pastry cream and crowned with fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. Just before cutting it, we finished it together with a final flourish of berries and a snowfall of powdered sugar, making the tradition feel intimate and entirely our own.

Under crystal chandeliers and shimmering disco balls, we cut into it as guests gathered close, cheering and laughing. The sweetness of the moment was followed by fireworks illuminating the night sky, transforming the cake cutting into something magical and unforgettable.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

From the bride: Ceremony Atmosphere The ceremony took place at Agios Isidoros, a small seaside church connected to land by a narrow stone walkway. I arrived by boat, gliding across the Aegean toward the whitewashed church perched at the water’s edge — a moment that felt cinematic and deeply symbolic. Crossing the water toward the church felt like stepping into something sacred and timeless. The ceremony followed the traditions of the Greek Orthodox faith, rich in symbolism and ritual. A live violinist accompanied the service, her playing filling the church with a softness that made the atmosphere feel even more romantic. Her talent was extraordinary — each note layered gently over the chanting and the distant sound of the sea just beyond the church walls. The result was emotional, intimate, and profoundly tied to place. Music shaped the emotional rhythm of the entire day. Our ceremony featured an incredibly talented live violinist whose playing added a softness and depth that made the atmosphere feel even more romantic. She performed “The Ordinary” by Alex Warren as I stepped off the boat and made my way toward the front of the altar — a moment that felt cinematic and suspended in time. Later in the evening, she performed “Pio Poly” by Mixalis Hatzigiannis for our first dance, her interpretation layering beautifully over the reception and making the moment feel intimate and deeply personal. She carried the emotion from ceremony to celebration seamlessly, creating continuity through every transition. For the reception, we had a live band that played traditional Greek songs, with classics like “Karavia Xiotika” and the unmistakable rhythms of zeibekiko and kalamatiano filling the dance floor and bringing generations together. The sound of live instruments created an atmosphere that felt authentically celebratory and deeply rooted in our culture. As the night evolved, our DJ took over, blending 90s favorites with current hits and house music, giving the celebration a modern edge. The shift in sound kept the energy elevated and the dance floor effortlessly cool. After my father-daughter dance, we surprised our guests by suddenly turning on one of my dad’s favorite songs — “Get Down On It” by Kool & the Gang, the iconic 1980s funk and R&B anthem. The music shifted, the energy lifted, and we broke out onto the dance floor together. It was joyful, spontaneous, and completely us — a moment I will cherish forever. Toward the end of the evening, my father surprised everyone once more by taking the microphone and singing one of his favorite songs live. He was incredible. The crowd was captivated, cheering him on as he owned the moment. It was the perfect closing note to a night we will never forget.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]From the bride: The Church & Our Roots

Choosing Agios Isidoros as our church held deep personal meaning. The name itself was a quiet tribute to Joanne’s late grandfather, Isidoros Koutsoulias. Being married in a church that carried his name felt like honoring a generational thread — past, present, and future woven together in one sacred place.

It also meant the world to us to have Father Damaskinos Ganas, the priest who baptized us both at our community parish in Brooklyn, present for the ceremony in Greece. Getting married in Greece was deeply important to us — our heritage and roots shape who we are, and celebrating our marriage on Greek soil felt like the most authentic way to begin this next chapter together.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

From the bride: Honoring His Mother Apostolos’ late mother was deeply present in our hearts throughout the day. In the months leading up to the wedding, I gathered birthday cards, graduation notes, and name day messages she had written to him over the years. I pieced together words from her handwriting and had them custom embroidered onto a handkerchief as a surprise for him, including it inside his wedding card on the morning of the wedding, so he could carry a piece of her with him. At the reception, we reserved a seat for her at his immediate family table, with a banner hanging in her place as a reminder that she was watching from above. It was our quiet way of honoring her — woven gently into the celebration, present in spirit as we began this new chapter together.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

From the bride: Tambourines & Plate Breaking We gifted custom tambourines to our guests, inviting them to participate in the celebration rather than simply observe it. As the music built, traditional Greek dancing took over, and plates were joyfully broken in true celebratory spirit. It wasn’t staged — it unfolded naturally as laughter, rhythm, and movement carried the night forward. The reception became an immersive expression of Greek joy and hospitality.

The overall vision was elevated coastal elegance, where relaxed tropical energy met clean, modern design. The weekend was imagined as a blend of oceanfront ease and refined simplicity, allowing Maui’s natural beauty to guide the aesthetic. Rather than overly ornate details, the focus was on thoughtful styling with an atmosphere that felt intimate and polished.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Frank and Ella’s favorite snowboarding destination in the world is Whistler. Under the guise of celebrating a close friend’s recent birthday, Frank planned a trip there with two friends, all while secretly orchestrating a proposal. On their very first day on the mountain, however, things didn’t go quite as planned: Frank led Ella down an icy, rocky cliff she wasn’t prepared for, and she slid headfirst down the mountainside on her back, in tears and absolutely furious with him. Deciding the timing was less than ideal, Frank postponed the proposal to the following evening. Frank arranged an intimate dinner at their hotel and casually suggested that Ella “wear something nice.” She immediately reminded him that she had packed only snow gear and had nothing dressy to wear. Sitting on the couch, feeling both suspicious and significantly underdressed, Ella looked up to find Frank in front of her on one knee, holding a ring box and smiling.

The bridesmaid dresses featured a cohesive, tonal palette of blush, champagne, and soft rose for a modern, understated look. My wedding dress truly felt like it chose me, rather than the other way around. It may sound cliché, but the moment I put it on, I simply knew, and so did my sister and my now mother-in-law, who shared that special moment with me. It can feel intimidating to find a dress that truly feels like you among a mountain of fabric, tulle, and lace, but when it clicks, you know.

With the overall palette kept entirely white, we wanted the food and drinks to bring both color and life to the celebration. We saw the menu as a love letter to France, and to Dordogne in particular, with foie gras, truffles, oysters, a series of colorful cold soups, along with a tomato bar. Naturally, we couldn’t resist adding an American twist, so burgers and fries made a well-timed appearance at midnight. The cocktails were just as personal: kir royals and old fashioneds in tribute to our families, while spritzes and gin basil cocktails were inspired by our travels.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Our florist truly brought the wedding to life. We had fun incorporating a few unexpected touches, like a floral path around the champagne tower, along with a custom flower backdrop and a garland of falling flowers above the head table. Each area was designed to feel distinct, while the flowers themselves remained simple and seasonal. A quiet nod to the beauty of our countryside surroundings.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The wedding cake was where we fully embraced a touch of American flair, grand in scale, beautiful in design, and, of course, delicious! Yet its flavor was rooted in something more intimate: blackberry and vanilla, inspired by childhood memories of gathering berries in the woods with my siblings for our grandmother’s jam.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Designing the invitations myself was a labor of love, and it quickly became one of my favorite parts of the process. There’s something about working with paper that feels inherently beautiful: the play of shadows through embossing, the texture of pressed paper, timeless, delicate, and deeply special. I was incredibly grateful to the team at Letterpress of Paris, who collaborated with such care and patience to make it all come together.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

They say “mariage pluvieux, mariage heureux,” and for us, it couldn’t have been more fitting. Despite the worrying forecasts in the weeks before, the timing of the rain felt almost miraculous. The rain would stop just moments before each of our planned events, then quietly return once they were over. It even tempered the Dordogne’s summer heat. We couldn’t help but feel it was all meant to be.

A Sun-Drenched Sonoma Vineyard Wedding Inspired by Nature and Nostalgia

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Pear green, blush pink, soft creams, and hints of butter yellow, grounded with touches of pecan for contrast.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Drew and I had a clear vision for our wedding: an outdoor celebration immersed in nature, warmth, and soft light. Being outside has always been central to our relationship—whether running up and down the Westside HWY in NYC, through Rock Creek, our neighborhood park in Washington, DC, escaping to the beaches of Oak Bluffs and Amagansett, or lying beneath fiddle-leaf trees in Rincon—so we wanted our wedding day to feel effortless and al fresco, with everyone gathered together under the sun enjoying good food, good drinks, and each other. I grew up in Sonoma, where cool, foggy mornings give way to warm, golden evenings that seem to stretch on among vineyard hills. It was during a run with Drew through one of these vineyards that we knew this setting perfectly captured our vision. I had grown up attending the opening of Jacuzzi Family Vineyards—owned by the family of a lifelong friend and inspired by their Italian heritage—and its Tuscan-style piazza felt like the ideal place to bring everyone together outdoors. Since Drew proposed at a winery in Aix-en-Provence, celebrating our marriage at a winery in Sonoma felt especially meaningful. We drew inspiration from personal memories in Sonoma and the region’s native flora, letting the surrounding landscape guide the design.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

I had just graduated from my Master’s program and dreamed of celebrating with a trip to the south of France—a place I had never been and was eager to experience. Drew and I planned our trip to begin in Aix-en-Provence and continue through towns including Cassis, Saint-Tropez, and Nice. We knew we wanted to explore the wineries of Provence, so we scheduled several tastings, including one Drew had set up at Château de la Gaude on our third night in Aix. When we arrived at Chateau de la Gaude, I expected a lively tasting room, but instead we were led to a private terrace overlooking the grounds. During the tasting, the sommelier casually mentioned that one of the final bottles was reserved for women who were engaged—something that somehow didn’t register in the moment. Afterward, I asked the sommelier to take a few photos of us in the gardens, and after just a minute of posing, Drew stepped away, got down on one knee, and proposed. We celebrated with dinner at the château that evening and carried an overwhelming feeling of joy with us for the rest of the trip.

Wedding gown: My wedding dress was Zinaida by Maggie Sottero. It had a pleated, strapless bodice, an A-line silhouette, and was covered with buttons trailing all the way to the hem. While the original design featured a keyhole and cap sleeves, I chose to fill in the keyhole and remove the sleeves to create a cleaner, more timeless silhouette. Later in the evening, I changed into a second dress for dancing—a mini by Vivienne Westwood that felt playful yet refined. The structured silhouette and softly draped neckline brought a modern edge while still feeling timeless, making it the perfect piece to transition into the celebration.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

For my bridesmaids’ dresses, I wanted to reflect the softness of Sonoma’s natural landscape rather than limit the palette to a single color. Inspired by weddings that embraced a mix of hues, I chose a blend of pear greens, blush pinks, and subtle hints of butter yellow. I loved how each bridesmaid selected a shade that suited her, and together they looked harmonious and beautifully individual.

Food and drinks: We chose Park Avenue Catering after attending another wedding they catered and falling completely in love with the food; we knew immediately we wanted them for ours. We welcomed guests before the ceremony with watermelon lemonade and cucumber-mint water, setting the tone for a warm Sonoma evening. During cocktail hour, passed bites like grilled peach–tomato bruschetta, scallop and watermelon crudo, and summer corn arancini reflected the season and the setting. Our signature cocktails included “The Elderflower,” made with prosecco, St-Germain, sparkling water, and a lemon twist, and a “Barrel-Aged Brandy Manhattan” with Carpano vermouth, bitters, and cherries in brandy syrup. For dinner, we envisioned a long, al fresco gathering that felt like a family meal but elevated for the occasion. Guests began with a watermelon and arugula salad with Bulgarian feta, oil-cured olives, and sumac vinaigrette, then chose between roasted scallops with summer corn succotash and corn butter, grilled tri tip with lemon-pepper rub and salsa verde, or fontinella cheese ravioli with wild mushrooms and chardonnay-truffle butter. To preserve that communal feeling, bowls of fusilli with squash, corn, sun-dried tomatoes, lemon, and shaved parmesan were served family-style. Wines throughout the evening featured a curated selection from Jacuzzi Family Vineyards and Cline Cellars, the sister winery just across the street, including Prosecco, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Rosé. For dessert, guests had the option between lemon olive oil or red velvet wedding cake, a gelato cart, and affogatos—a nod both to the Tuscan-inspired setting and to Rome, our first international trip together.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

For our ceremony, the aisle and altar were lined with light green hydrangeas and soft pink roses, creating a romantic, garden-like setting. The hydrangeas were my subtle nod to the East Coast, where our love story began, while the roses reflected those scattered throughout Sonoma. During cocktail hour, the palette shifted slightly brighter. A sunflower statement arrangement anchored the space, another nod to my memories of planting sunflowers as a young girl in my backyard in Sonoma, complemented by petite butter-yellow florals that echoed the warmth of the early evening sun. Our seating display—one of my favorite design elements—was also unveiled during cocktail hour. Inspired by the venue’s olive oil press roots (and Drew and my shared love of bread and olive oil at dinner), we used travel-sized bottles of the estate’s olive oil as escort cards, each tagged with a guest’s name and table number that they could take home with them. As guests moved into the piazza for the reception, the tables were layered with small vases of sunflowers, roses, blush dahlias, and apple-green centered daisies set atop vineyard-inspired patterned linens in soft greens. To echo the setting even further, we incorporated fruit styling—clusters of green and red grapes, blackberries, and halved figs—woven throughout the tablescape to add richness and texture. To balance the organic floral print, I worked with Salt & Paper Press to design custom menus in light green and cream stripes, placed on pecan rattan chargers to introduce warmth and a subtle structured contrast. When the evening transitioned into dancing, the ceremony florals were thoughtfully transplanted onto the dance floor, allowing the lush hydrangeas and roses to frame the celebration once again. Potted olive trees from the venue were arranged around the band, filling open space and reinforcing the vineyard setting.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

We chose Flour & Bloom to create our wedding cake and selected two flavors to offer a bit of contrast—lemon olive oil for something light and fresh, and red velvet for a richer, more indulgent option. For the design, I wanted to incorporate refined color through natural accents, leaning into the Sonoma setting with halved figs, blackberries, and blush rose petals. The result felt organic and elegant, seamlessly tying the cake into the overall floral and fruit-forward aesthetic of the day.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

I walked down the aisle to a string trio rendition of “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar, a song that has become intertwined with our second anniversary and holds meaning in our relationship. During the ceremony, Drew’s father read 1 Corinthians 13:1–7, 13, and Drew’s sister (also one of my bridesmaids), followed with a beautiful performance of a piano rendition of “Simply the Best.” A particularly meaningful moment came when our reverend invited both our guests and us to quietly choose a word they hoped would define and bless our future together. It was such a simple gesture, yet afterward so many loved ones came up to share their chosen word with us, making the moment feel deeply personal and lasting. For our first dance, we chose “Can I Call You Rose,” a song that has always felt like ours. Rose is my middle name, and whenever the song would come on, Drew would immediately pull me in to dance or sing it to me, softly calling me Rose. Dancing to it that night felt like sharing one of our most tender, everyday moments with everyone we love.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

From the Bride’s POV: I should have known something was up long before we got to Boyne Mountain. That morning, while I was getting ready, Steven casually told me he needed to give the neighbor a screwdriver. A screwdriver. It didn’t make sense, but I didn’t push it—I just filed it away as one of those moments I’d probably laugh about later. We headed to the SkyBridge, and I was genuinely excited. When we got to the gate, the guard mentioned there would be a videographer on the bridge. That immediately caught my attention, but before I could ask anything, Steven explained that they might be filming a commercial for the new bridge. That seemed reasonable enough… even though my suspicion level quietly jumped. As we started walking across the SkyBridge, I tried to take everything in—the views, the height, the feeling of being surrounded by sky. Still, something felt different. Steven was calm, steady, and smiling in that way he does when he knows something I don’t. Then, right there on the bridge, he stopped. The mountains stretched out around us, and the moment suddenly felt very real. When he got down on one knee, everything made sense at once—the screwdriver, the videographer, the strange little clues I had ignored. I don’t even remember hearing the question all the way through before I said yes. Standing there on the SkyBridge at Boyne Mountain on August 10, 2023, I realized I was saying yes to a lifetime of love, laughter, and surprises with the person who somehow managed to pull off the perfect proposal right in front of me. And no, we weren’t in a commercial—but it turned out to be something much better.

A Marine Surrealist Wedding Inspired by Pearls, Sandstone, and the Sea

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

We moved away from traditional tropical tropes to explore a dreamscape of iridescent pearls and raw sandstone textures. The vision was “Marine Surrealism,” a dialogue between fluid organic shapes and polished, modern installations. We wanted the design to feel like an ethereal extension of the coast rather than an addition to it.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Iridescent Pearl, Oyster White, Sandstone, and Translucent Sea-Foam.

[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]

Set along the breathtaking Andaman Coast, the celebration was hosted across the interconnected grounds of ANDAAMAN – Villa ANDA & Villa AMANN. The venue was chosen for its striking modernist architecture and its immediate proximity to the tide. We utilized transparent materials to ensure the vast horizon remained the primary protagonist of the day, allowing the setting to feel both immersive and uninterrupted. What sets ANDAAMAN – Luxury Beachfront Villa apart is its rare ability to host a fully customized stage over the ocean—an architectural feature that extends the ceremony directly into the sea, rather than simply overlooking it. Unlike many villas in Phuket that offer only sea views, this experience places guests within the landscape itself, creating a truly distinctive and elevated sense of place. It served as a pristine “blank canvas” for a design celebrating the purity of the ocean.

In collaboration with FW Signature Phuket, we opted for monochromatic white orchids and carnations used in sculptural clusters. The ceremony was anchored by a custom clear acrylic stage and a magnificent shell-triptych backdrop. Every touchpoint, from the pearl-beaded chargers to the translucent chairs, reinforced a sense of weightless, coastal elegance.

[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]Our favorite detail was the bespoke ceremony backdrop, a sculptural masterpiece inspired by the organic silhouette of a shell. We took immense pride in the meticulous sourcing of materials, ensuring each element resonated deeply with the coastal environment. This installation transformed a structural necessity into a tactile work of marine art, perfectly capturing the intentionality and refined craftsmanship behind the entire design.[/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]

Focus on “invisible” architecture by using glass and acrylic to let the natural scenery breathe. Balance these sharp, modern elements with high-texture organic details like raw shells to keep the design from feeling too clinical. Finally, consider the acoustic layer; replacing a standard playlist with live harp music adds an ethereal depth.

KAYLEE & KYLE’S STORY… starts back in 2016 at Michigan State University. They were both headed to an SAE date party with different people (shout out James) and first met as they hopped in the car to drive down to Chicago. Neither of them had any idea that they had just met the love of their life. Fast forward a few months to another date party, this time in Toronto. Some might say it was fate, Kyle’s date bailed on him at the last minute (womp womp), but his now good friend Kaylee was free to join him. That weekend in Toronto was when everything changed. They laughed, talked for hours, and had the time of their lives together. Seven years later, on October 21st, 2023, they were back in the city where their love began, Toronto. Kyle, knowing how special the city was to them, chose this spot, a park with an iconic view of the skyline, as the place to propose to Kaylee.

A Napa Wedding with a Dramatic Floral Transformation Inspired by Chili Oil at Stanly Ranch

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The colors were really important and were meant to evolve as the wedding progressed throughout the event. The ceremony and cocktail hour were all white and green, and then as guests transitioned into the dinner/dancing space, there was a big pop of red brought in.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The vision was to create a very ethereal setting in the ceremony, with the focus being a large organic floral wall that was a show stopper. As guests entered dinner, the florals brought in a big pop of red with a nod to the couple’s love of chili oil. There were also real chili peppers in the floral arrangements, the custom place cards were chili peppers, and there were chili oil containers on each table. They also wanted another show-stopping piece as guests entered dinner, and that was the hanging floral chandelier that spanned the width of the ballroom and hung above the dance floor.

Angela and Max met in business school in 2019. While there was never a shortage of things to do during school, they always secretly hoped they’d see each other out and about. Eventually, they became intertwined in the same group of friends who would see each other continuously, and they had the opportunity to get to know each other better. It was during the COVID pandemic that Max and Angela started spending more time together and started dating. They got through many TV shows (in particular, Chef’s Table) and home-cooked meals as they braved COVID isolation together in the early stages of their relationship! They moved to San Francisco after graduating and now live with their wonderful dog, Raven. Tidbits: What was your most memorable date? A road trip to Mendocino for Angela’s birthday,y where we had an incredible lunch at Harbor House Inn right along the ocean. What’s your favorite activity together? Exploring the world with our dog, Raven. Usually, our adventures end with burritos . Where are you going for your honeymoon? Undecided, but we love visiting new and culturally different places together. Thinking maybe Argentina or Brazil! What’s the best meal you have eaten together? Lazy bear in SF and Jeong in Chicago! What’s the most memorable trip you have taken together? Our travel to the British Virgin Islands, which was also our first trip together. We had a beautiful place all to ourselves with an infinity pool looking over the island of Tortola and the ocean. We took class remotely as we devoured breakfast tacos every morning. A life goal of ours we’re hyped to operate a bougie dog shelter with tons of land and luxury beds for all the dogs. We’ll probably add in a few other farm animals too for the vibe What were your first impressions of each other? Angela’s first impression of Max: So tall! And he seems so nice and wholesome. Max’s first impression of Angela: Very well put together and more joyous than you can imagine! What’s your ideal day in SF together? Start the day with a hard workout (mind the gains). Sip some matcha for Angela and a vanilla sweet cream cold brew for Max, and avocado toast. Head to the park with Raven to lounge and hang out with our friends. Or, get some sketching and reading done at the park. Walk around the city afterwards and stop for a frozen yogurt snack at Souvla. We’d end the night with burritos/tacos or a healthy homemade recipe we’re trying for the first time, and a nice cocktail at one of our favorite bars (ABV or True Laurel)!

Florals were the main focus for the design. Llave did an amazing job of making each flower feel intentional and curated. They were intended to feel wild and organic with a structural touch and to provide lots of visual interest. The scale of the hanging floral chandelier was unimaginable and took everyone’s breath away. The signage was extremely personalized, with the table numbers being important places/things from Angela + Max’s relationship. The place cards were die-cut chili peppers to tie in the red/chili pepper motif. We also did some pinning to create a more vintage linen/drape effect on the accent tables, like the dessert station and the wedding cake.

The wedding cake was made by the venue’s pastry team, and they did an incredible job. The design was also intended to feel cohesive with the reception space.

A Playful Coastal Wedding Inspired by the Charm of Martha’s Vineyard

Our palette mostly consisted of earth tones – blue, green, orange, and yellow. I wanted to have fun with prints and florals and not have anything feel too formal. Our wedding took place in a small coastal town (Edgartown, MA), so we tied in a lot of elements from the sea, including oyster shell name tags and clamshell menus.

A Palm Beach-Inspired Wedding Blending Coastal Charm with Lowcountry Elegance

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Light Pink, Mauve, Olive Green, Ivory[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Bride and Wedding Designer Isabel drew deep inspiration from the timeless charm of vintage Palm Beach- most notably the iconic The Colony Hotel. The design embraced the hotel’s signature aesthetic, layering playful patterns, vibrant color, and tropical motifs. These Palm Beach influences were thoughtfully intertwined with elements of the Lowcountry, Isabel and Daniel’s home, bringing in an added sense of place and personal meaning. The result was a beautifully balanced design narrative: where breezy coastal elegance met bold, whimsical detail, and every layer, from textiles to décor, worked together to create a celebration that felt immersive, intentional, and entirely their own.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Daniel and Isabel were planning a ski trip to Zermatt, Switzerland, in February 2024, and Isabel had a feeling this would be the trip where Daniel proposed. Her intuition was spot on… and Daniel quickly realized she was onto him. The week before their trip, Isabel had planned what she thought was a surprise 27th birthday party for Daniel. What she didn’t know? The idea had been cleverly planted by Daniel himself, with a little help from his mom’s encouragement to Isabel. The two were staying at the Hotel Bennett in Charleston for his birthday when Daniel completely caught Isabel off guard. At sunset, he led her onto the balcony of their suite and proposed. Of course, she said yes, still thinking she would be leading him to his surprise birthday party afterward. That’s when Daniel revealed the twist: the “birthday party” had been his plan all along. Together, they flipped the script, welcoming their friends not to a birthday celebration but to a surprise engagement party instead. Daniel successfully surprised both Isabl, and their friends who came to celebrate his birthday!

She paired the gown with Jimmy Choo’s Lotta Ivory Tulle Pumps, her great-grandmother’s (and namesake’s!) vintage pearl earrings and brown topaz dinner ring, and her mother’s tennis bracelet. Her after-party dress was a reworked vintage Danielle Frankel light pink mini dress- with a similar drop waist, bubble hem style as her ceremony and reception dress. The slight, light pink color of the dress matched perfectly with the wedding decor. She paired the after-party dress with a pair of Gucci Horsebit Platform Heels.

Upon entering the tent, guests were welcomed by a striking entry table, adorned with an abundant, huge floral arrangement by Willow Event Designs, a collection of antique tchotchkes gathered by the bride, and a playful touch of faux flamingos. Lush, velvet draping swagged throughout the tent and created a “waterfall” effect behind the band- creating a warm, intimate setting. This artful blend of lush draping, expressive florals, and distinctive objects- like porcelain roses or antique bird cages- was woven throughout the reception, inviting guests to pause, look closer, and fully immerse themselves in the layered, pink-and-green, vintage Palm Beach-inspired design.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Isabel & Daniel chose to go with an untraditional, abstract & fun wedding cake design. Flower Child executed their vision perfectly with a four-tier hummingbird-flavored cake with cream cheese frosting- featuring abstract piping and, of course, touches of pink and green florals to match the wedding design.

Bride Isabel spent the months prior to her wedding day collecting antiques and family belongings to adorn the reception space with. These objects painted the picture of Isabel and Daniel’s background and love story – from locally made sweetgrass baskets purchased in Downtown Charleston to giant conch shells found by the couple on their many trips to the Bahamas.

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

An iconic wrapped dance floor completed the reception space- featuring the same vintage artwork featured on the invitations, printed by Dear Elouise. The light pink background and larger-than-life images tied the space together and became the focal point of the evening.

A Tuscan Inspired Rooftop Wedding with a Moody, Restaurant-Style Reception

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Mauve, orange, yellow, green, black

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

We basically had a full team filled with fabulous ideas, aka Brooke, Michael, and both of their moms, along with our incredibly helpful planner, Michelle Vining at Lola Event Productions, to help guide us along the way. No idea was too big or small, and when we decided to partner with our decor company, HMR, everything came together seamlessly. Our venue, Harris Theater Rooftop Terrace, lent itself to the themes and color palettes we ultimately landed on. Our cocktail hour was open-air outdoors in the heart of downtown Chicago, but in Millennium Park, surrounded by trees and foliage. We pulled the outdoor, Tuscan-inspired terrace for the cocktail hour. The reception space was inside a tent, which took guests inside a restaurant-style, moody setting, inspired by the restaurant Carbone. Our wedding also landed on the first weekend of October, so we really wanted to bring in some elements of summer (cocktail hour), moving into fall (reception space). A lot of thought was put into it!

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

In 2022, Brooke and Michael both separately attended a March Madness game in Chicago, where Brooke’s college won, so naturally, she went out to celebrate with friends. The two were introduced by mutual friends at the nearby bar, Crossroads. We were very much drawn to one another, and after just a few weeks of getting to know one another, we quickly became official. We moved into our condo in Lincoln Park, IL, in May 2024 with the intention of being engaged shortly thereafter. Michael then proposed on the deck of our first home together on August 15, 2024.

Cocktail featured an “Ice Ice Baby” themed seafood raw bar, along with passed favorites like mini grilled cheeses in soup and cheeseburger dumplings with mini modelos. Dinner started with a Dirty Martini Greens salad served in a martini glass. Following was a Pasta Mandera with sausage and vodka sauce. The main was a Seared Filet Au Poivre with Brussels sprouts and potato gratin.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

HMR created a beautiful and grand fountain installation for the outdoor cocktail hour space,e and we thought it would be cute and engaging to throw pennies into said fountain throughout the night. Instead of using real pennies, we took it a step further and customized the coins with our “BM” branding. The guests had such a fun time tossing their coins and making a “well-wish” for the newlyweds, and we got to keep a memento for ourselves.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The wedding cake was a five-tier masterpiece, with each layer in a different vintage-inspired shape and design, topped with an orb of roses. There were two flavors. First was a chocolate cake with peanut butter whipped marscapone icing and Biscoff streusel, then also a carrot cake with cream cheese icing. There were several small desserts like mini tiramisu and cannoli tartlets.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Hands down, our first dance was a favorite moment. We worked very hard for months, taking dance lessons,s so seeing it come to life so successfully was a dream. We danced to Like a Prayer by Madonna. We had all of our friends and family create a “circle of love” as we performed our dance. Once the dance was complete, the song continued, and we guestsjoinedn us during the upbeat part of the song, and it was truly something of an adrenaline rush to see everyone’s excited and belting out the lyrics.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

Video mapping! From the very beginning, Michael was fixated on the large, plain, white wall in the cocktail hour space, and HMR delivered on an unbelievably unique and personalized touch to add video mapping that closed the loop on our Tuscan-inspired cocktail hour vibe. Throughout the evening, the video mapping evolved from a plain historic-looking castle, slowly growing vines and blooming flowers, flickering sconces, and then Brooke and Michael appeared in one of the balconies of the castle window, waving goodbye to their guests! So iconic!

An Elevated Garden Party Wedding Designed Around a Family Estate

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The colour palette was designed to feel timeless and organic, echoing the natural beauty of the home and property. Soft neutrals like light woods, white, beige, and ivory, were layered with delicate blush tones and natural greens drawn from the surrounding landscape.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The overall design was guided by a desire to create an immersive celebration, one that felt effortlessly connected to its setting and deeply rooted in the especially sentimental venue of Emily’s family home. An elevated European garden party aesthetic shaped the vision, with delicate details throughout. Four tents were seamlessly integrated across the property’s natural grading: an upper tent for cocktail hour, and three lower tents for the dinner reception, all with a custom-built floor, which even covered over the property’s existing hot tub. The main tent was designed to flow into the infinity pool, creating a sense of cohesion across the outdoor spaces. Every detail, from the tent roofline that was designed to mirror the architecture of the family home to the careful layout of the tents, allowed the wedding to feel like it was perfectly designed for the property.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

On a perfect summer day, July 7th, 2022, Myles surprised Emily with a proposal at Port Franks Beach in Ontario, Canada. Believing they were there to celebrate a friend’s engagement, Emily had no idea she was actually the guest of honor. When Myles dropped to one knee, she was completely taken by surprise and overjoyed to say yes! The celebration continued at Myles’ family cottage, where close friends and family were waiting with drinks, a laid-back barbecue, and glowing sunset views. With family and friends by their side, the celebration quickly turned into a joyful preview of their life and wedding to come.

The culinary experience was crafted by Gilt Catering, which created a beautiful, custom menu highlighting seasonal summer flavors. Each dish was as delicious as it was thoughtfully designed, perfectly complementing the celebration’s elegant and relaxed vibe.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The floral and décor design embraced lush, timeless romance, with big, full blooms, particularly roses, adding to the traditional European country garden feel. Perfectly Designed Events thoughtfully curated every element to harmonize with the cherished landscape of the bride’s parents’ property. Tables were dressed with delicate, clear glassware with soft gold accents, an ivory runner, and sandstone candles that added subtle depth and warmth. Crystal chandeliers throughout the ceiling were accented with just a touch of smilax, introducing gentle greenery above to balance the property’s natural features. Soft, flowing draping filtered the light, bathing the space in a warm, romantic glow. Even the seating chart was designed to feel cohesive, a 10-foot mirror with the couple’s monogram placed in the bottom right corner, featuring a pill-shaped oval shape with loose smilax tying the design together and uniting it with the rest of the décor.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The wedding cake was a true showstopper: four tiers crafted by Martha from The Cake Studio. Each tier was real and customised to honour their family’s preferences. There were two flavours throughout the tiers: strawberry swirl cake with cream cheese and strawberry filling, evoking the light, fresh flavours of an English garden in summer, while the bottom tiers were traditional carrot cake with cream cheese filling – timeless and classic. Each tier was topped with a delicate floral garland, tying in the lush garden elements from the rest of the event.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]They kicked off the dance floor with their first dance to “Anyone” by Justin Bieber, a sweet, fun moment that set the tone for a night full of dancing, laughter, and celebration with everyone they love.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

One of the most meaningful details of the wedding was that it took place at the bride’s parents’ home. Upon entering, guests were immediately greeted by the property’s stunning magnolia tree, setting a romantic, intimate, and nostalgic tone as they entered through the main gates. The main floor living space was fully cleared out, allowing guests to enter through the front door of the home, just as you would on any occasion. The flow of the event was designed to truly immerse guests in the space, and evoke a warm, intimate and personal feeling.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Another deeply meaningful detail was the ceremony at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica in downtown London, Ontario, Canada. As a Catholic school teacher, the bride has long held the church close to her heart, and having Father Chris officiate made the moment even more special. It was a touching, personal connection that resonated deeply with the family and set a heartfelt tone for the day.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

The weather was nothing short of a storybook twist. After a wet, rainy week and a morning of steady drizzle, the skies cleared just in time for cocktail hour. Thanks to the stunning property and collection of four tents, guests stayed warm and dry – proof that even a rainy day can turn into the perfect wedding day!

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]With a seven-year career in bridal, I had a front-row seat to the design process time and time again, from initial sketch to final fitting. I always knew that when my moment came, the dress would have to be something truly special. I went into the process with a strong vision and a long-standing love for a ballgown silhouette, ultimately gravitating toward an inverted sweetheart neckline that felt both classic and unexpected.

Working alongside Sydney and the Watters team, we brought the dress to life in a deeply personal way. I was involved in every detail, from selecting the lace to refining the neckline and sculpting the bodice, down to a last-minute addition of a bodysuit that made the entire look feel complete. Sydney chose the veil, which ended up being the perfect finishing touch. It felt like a full-circle moment and a meaningful way to close out my chapter with Watters.

The dress ultimately set the tone for the entire wedding. I envisioned an overgrown, European garden, something romantic and slightly undone, as if you had stumbled into a hidden world that hadn’t been overly tended to, yet was full of magic. Every detail was designed to feel elevated and luxurious, but never too polished. Intentional, lived-in, and warm.[/field]

A Timeless All-White Wedding Beneath Billowing Drapery and Glass Architecture

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

I have always gravitated toward neutral, monochromatic design—classic, clean, and timeless. I love décor that remains beautiful no matter how trends change, and I knew an all-white, neutral palette would be something I would still adore decades from now.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

During the week of the wedding, my mom and I decided to move the ceremony indoors to ensure our family and friends were comfortable in the July heat. I had initially imagined an outdoor ceremony and was a little hesitant about changing plans, but I’m so glad we did. The venue’s stunning glass architecture brought an incredible sense of light and elegance to the space, and the décor turned out even more beautiful than I had ever imagined. To make the space feel personal and uniquely “me,” we draped white sheers from chandelier to chandelier, which completely transformed the room and elevated the overall aesthetic. Looking back, choosing the indoor ceremony was one of the best decisions we made—it truly became everything I had dreamed of and more. I also made the decision not to have a traditional bridal party. My closest friends and family still spent the morning getting ready with us, but no one stood alongside us during the ceremony or in formal photos. It was one of the best choices we made. Your wedding day is truly about you and your partner, and keeping it intimate allowed the focus to remain on the two of us. It also gave me peace knowing I wouldn’t look back years later at photos with people who may no longer be in my life.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

This is truly my favorite story to share. In April of 2024, Jake planned the most unforgettable birthday trip for me, bringing together some of our closest friends and family. We spent the week in Rosemary Beach, staying in a breathtaking four-story home right on the water. Every night, he had something special planned—what I now realize was his way of keeping me from suspecting anything. One evening, he even hired a private chef to prepare a seated dinner for all 20 of us. Crab—my absolute favorite—was the star of the menu. By the third night, the night of the proposal, he arranged a beach bonfire with s’mores—something that felt straight out of a movie. As the sun began to set, we all went down to the water for photos, especially since some of our friends there are photographers. When it was our turn, I walked toward the shoreline to get into position, not realizing Jake had stopped behind me. When I turned around, he was on one knee. I’ll never forget that moment: we were standing in shallow water, the sky was glowing, and all I could think was, Oh my gosh, the ring is huge, and we’re in the ocean! I was shaking as he asked me to marry him. It was one of the most magical moments of our lives. After the proposal and bonfire, we returned to the house for yet another surprise! A local company had transformed the deck with beautifully set dinner tables and a full bar—another intentional, thoughtful detail Jake planned so we could celebrate with the people we love most. The amount of heart he put into every moment, every surprise, and every gathering on this trip is something I’ll cherish forever. It truly reflects the kind of man I married.

The overall wedding design was an all-white, neutral black tie wedding with a clean, modern aesthetic and an undeniably romantic soul. Garden-style arrangements of hydrangeas, roses, sweet peas, lisianthus, delphinium, and wax flowers filled the space in layers of ivory and cream. The bride held a sweetheart-shaped bridal bouquet, and white satin bows added a finishing touch. It was structured, intentional, and quietly luxurious.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The cake was an all-white, tall, multi-tiered cake, with smooth sides, accented with a white satin bow. From Publix.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

There were so many elements that made our wedding uniquely meaningful, but one of the most special was having my older brother officiate our ceremony. From the moment I got engaged, I knew I wanted him to marry us. It added an emotional, personal layer to the day that a traditional officiant simply couldn’t replicate. That role carries so much weight, and having someone from our family guide us into marriage made the ceremony unforgettable. Another cherished detail was our daughter being our flower girl. Watching her go down the aisle right before me is a memory I’ll hold onto for the rest of my life. Another special moment was at the end of our night, we wanted something special for our guests to be able to remember our day by, so we got hats made that said “The Schmidt Club,” and they were an absolute hit. All of our friends still wear them to this day. Our first dance was to “Biblical” by Calum Scott—a song that mirrors the depth and power of our love. We even choreographed a dance to it, making the moment even more memorable. Now, every time we hear it, we’re taken right back to that moment on the dance floor.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

A fireworks show took place after cutting the cake, for all guests to enjoy, while Katy Perry’s Firework song played. This was epic, and a moment we will always remember.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

One of the most meaningful parts of our wedding day was having our daughter as our flower girl. I became pregnant just a few months after we got engaged, so seeing her—at only four months old—make her way down the aisle in her little wagon that I had decorated for her is something I will treasure forever. Having her there made the day feel complete, and it’s a memory she’ll be able to look back on one day and know she was part of something so special.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]I fell in love with our venue the moment I came across it online. It was actually still under construction when I booked it, so I chose it almost blindly. But when I finally toured it in person, I knew instantly it was the one. Its timeless, elegant, European-inspired architecture gave me everything I dreamed of in a wedding venue. While my ultimate fantasy was to get married in Italy, this felt like the perfect Italian-influenced escape right here in my home state. I still can’t believe we said “I do” at The Conservatory—it was truly a dream.

A Coastal Wedding Weekend at Hotel del Coronado with Pastel Blooms and Oceanfront Elegance

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]White, blue, pink.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Our vision for the weekend was rooted in classic coastal romance, layered with moments of color and playfulness. We chose the historic Hotel del Coronado for its timeless charm and oceanfront setting — a place that already held special meaning for us, as we spent our first dating anniversary relaxing on its beach. Returning there to celebrate felt deeply full circle. We began the weekend with a welcome dinner instead of a traditional rehearsal dinner, held directly on the Del’s main beach. The dress code was “beach chic,” setting the tone for an evening that felt festive and relaxed. We leaned into a Mexican-inspired theme as a nod to California culture and our favorite food in San Diego. Guests were greeted with margaritas and tacos on the beach amidst golden hour. Lounge chairs, string lights, fire pits, and the ocean sounds kicked off the weekend. Once the sun set, everyone gathered for s’mores wrapped in Mexican woven blankets. For the wedding day, the mood shifted into an airy, romantic coastal palette. The dress code was black tie optional with color encouraged, which brought a lively softness to the classic setting. We exchanged vows beside the Del’s iconic red turret. White and green florals layered with blush pink and soft blue accents created a ceremony landscape that felt organic to the coastline, elegant without feeling overly formal. Our reception took place in the Ocean Ballroom, with a timeless and refined design. Crisp white linens with blue plate chargers and beige-toned chairs and a dance floor kept the ballroom classic and coastal, while pastel florals added softness. A pastel pink and blue lounge, echoing the floral palette, was placed by the windows overlooking the ocean. Overall, we wanted the weekend to feel romantic, welcoming, and reflective of the setting — a celebration that balanced classic elegance with the relaxed beauty of the coast.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Donald asked me to get ready a little earlier than usual for our dinner reservation that night. On the way, he suggested we stop at Ina Coolbrith Park. I had never been there before, and when we arrived, I was surprised by how beautiful the view of the San Francisco skyline was.

While we were standing there taking it in, he proposed. It felt like a private moment just for the two of us, above the city where we first met, which made it even more special.[/field]

For fashion, I wanted a look that felt romantic and effortless. I chose an Ines Di Santo gown with delicate floral detailing and a soft silhouette that suited the coastal setting. The dress felt timeless while still light and feminine. I kept my accessories minimal with pearl drop earrings and a Cartier Love bracelet that Donald gifted me as a wedding present — a piece that felt personal and meaningful.

After the reception, we continued the celebration with a DJ-led after-party and served chicken tenders and fries as a late-night snack. At the end of the night, guests left with Ghirardelli chocolates as party favors, a nod to San Francisco, where we first met.

Music and guest experience were a big priority, so we chose a live band to keep the dance floor full. The band guests onto the stage throughout the night, adding a fun, interactive energy to the celebration.

A Multi-Day Phuket Wedding with Oceanfront Views and an Immersive Guest Experience

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]White, pearl, gold, dusty pink, pale green[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

This multi-day celebration took place in Phuket, Thailand, across private villa settings overlooking the sea. The wedding was designed as a journey for guests, moving from a garden-inspired welcome evening to a dramatic, candlelit ceremony and an atmospheric reception that unfolded across multiple levels and spaces. The design blended a strong sense of place with elevated execution: ocean-facing vows, sculptural white florals, reflective surfaces, live music moments, and a carefully paced guest experience. While visually striking, the wedding remained deeply personal — shaped around emotion, movement, and how guests would feel in each moment.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

We got engaged at Amanoi in Vietnam on our 5th anniversary, January 10, 2024. He had planned a romantic dinner by the lotus lake, and as soon as we arrived, I sensed something beautiful was about to happen. The evening air was brisk, and the wind was stronger than we expected, so the setup wasn’t quite what he had envisioned, and the dinner venue didn’t go exactly to plan. But none of that mattered. When he got down on one knee, surrounded by the serene beauty of the lake, candles, violin playing, my heart was overflowing with love and happiness. Despite the imperfect weather, it was a night I’ll never forget—sweet, intimate, and filled with joy.

Ceremony – Oscar de La Renta – The dress is a stunning, strapless ball gown featuring a fitted bodice adorned with intricate, three-dimensional floral appliqués. The floral details cascade gracefully from the bodice down to the voluminous tulle skirt, creating a romantic and ethereal effect. The overall look is both sophisticated and whimsical, perfect for a memorable and enchanting occasion. I chose timeless round-cut diamond earrings and complemented them with a stunning graduated diamond necklace, adding a touch of classic elegance to my bridal look. The necklace was very special because my father designed that piece and looked at every single diamond stone by himself. I wore a pair of Dior slingback pumps from the 2025 collection, featuring delicate laces that reminded me of the whimsical elegance of a sea monster.

From the bride: I’ve always loved Phuket—the city, the beach, the sand, and the sun. There’s something about being by the ocean that brings me a sense of peace and serenity, which is exactly how I wanted to feel on my wedding day. Getting married overlooking the sea, surrounded by the people I love and who love me, felt like a dream come true. As a Thai, it was important for me to be close to home, surrounded by the beauty and warmth of my own country. Being in Phuket, with my closest friends and family, made me feel truly loved and supported. It felt like the perfect place to celebrate such a special moment in my life. The moment I heard about Villa No. 8 at Trisara, I was immediately intrigued. When I finally saw the villa in person, I was absolutely blown away by its beauty. Standing there, I could picture myself exchanging vows, feeling completely stunned, and wrapped in the love of everyone around me. I knew instantly that this was the place I wanted to say “I do,” and I couldn’t wait for the day to arrive.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The vision for the welcome dinner was floral and garden chic. Lita was very hands-on, working closely with The Wedding Bliss team to finalize the color scheme, décor, and all the detailed arrangements for the day. We were absolutely blown away by the thoughtful touches, from the lemonade cart and colorful tables to the rooftop bar. Both Lita and I were thrilled to reconnect with so many friends we hadn’t seen in a long time. The evening was made even more special by heartfelt speeches from some of our closest friends. Rehearsal Dinner: The rehearsal dinner continued the same theme as the wedding ceremony, featuring elegant white flowers with an added touch of evening sophistication. We envisioned a spectacular entrance, beginning with a mesmerizing fire dance show, followed by a grand entrance with sparklers as we walked in to Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Let’s Groove.” I (Calvin) also surprised the bride by jumping on stage to sing “Mr. Brightside”—with absolutely zero preparation. The evening was filled with love and laughter as our bridesmaids, groomsmen, the mother of the groom, and the father of the bride delivered heartfelt speeches. After dinner, the celebration continued with an after-party on the lower level of Villa 8.

An Elevated Western Wedding with Olive Velvet, Saddle Leather, and Ranch Romance

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The elevated western-chic palette pairs rich olive/moss greens with warm saddle leather and wood textures, along with soft ivory tones, grounding the design in a refined ranch aesthetic. Creamy florals with light touches of blush and muted burgundy soften the tone, creating an overall feeling of modern, soft frontier elegance — polished, romantic, and effortlessly rooted in the landscape.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The design centers on an elevated western narrative, layering natural materials with refined styling to create a space that feels intentional, warm, and immersive (since we were at a real ranch in Oklahoma). Olive velvet linens and upholstered lounge pieces establish a rich foundation for the color story, while saddle-toned leather accents, cowhide textures, and raw-edge wood tables introduce an authentic ranch influence. The black chairs and tailored place settings add structure and modern contrast, preventing the palette from feeling overly rustic. The florals were meant to soften the masculine edge, creating a soft but refined vibe.

Food/Menu: Abbey Road served incredible Braised Short Ribs with Red Wine Reduction for all the guests. Tender braised short ribs, slow-cooked to perfection, are finished with a rich red wine reduction that brings depth and warmth to each bite, creating a dish that feels both comforting and elevated. We also did a tableside wine presentation led by a dedicated sommelier who guided guests through thoughtfully selected pairings. Later that night, Abbey Road set up a wood-fired pizza station so guests could take home personal pizzas in customized boxes. Available for grab-and-go or to enjoy on the patio, it was the perfect late-night snack! Bar: The bar was a big deal and a major statement for this couple. Fig & Foundry transforms our bar moments into an experience — ones that feel less like a standard wedding reception and more like stepping into an intimate, high-end cocktail lounge. Expertly trained bartenders move with precision and ease, crafting drinks with fresh ingredients, refined techniques, and thoughtful presentation (like custom-branded orange peels pressed with the couple’s monogram)! Every detail is intentional: custom cocktails, bespoke garnishes, right down to the bolo ties they wore to fit the theme. The smoked whiskey bar was a show stopper and a crowd favorite in our hidden “speakeasy,” along with mini espresso martini shooters to enjoy on the dance floor.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Emerald and olive created the perfect balance to the masculine textures and tones used in the rentals and decor, with the feminine counterpart brought in by the florals. Each table linen, structure, and bar told a different color story from the same book. Felix has an incredible eye for floral color stories that don’t feel repetitive yet remain perfectly in sync and artful.
The Floral design softens the environment with loose, garden-inspired arrangements in whites, ivory, greens, blush, light peach, and touches of burgundy, arranged low and organically to feel as though they naturally grew in the gardens outside. Lush grasses woven throughout the florals add texture and movement, grounding the arrangements in a natural, western-inspired aesthetic without losing softness or elegance. The overall vibe feels effortless and organic—romantic yet grounded, with just the right hint of rustic sophistication.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Amy Cakes designed a stunning 5-tier cake that featured a dulce de leche cake flavor inspired by the couple’s recent travels to South America. Each layer is adorned with delicate piped rope patterns and red cherries for a fun pop of color. The overall effect is romantic, with understated rustic/western charm.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

When the timeline unraveled and the weather had other plans, we did the unthinkable: pivot and rebuild the day from the ground up in the middle of the night. This reception was originally supposed to take place in a sailcloth tent on the venue’s land. After torrential downpours and minor flooding, the tent mechanics were rendered unsafe and unsuitable for an event of this size. We had our multi-day production go under at midnight the night before the wedding, forcing us to execute and develop an entirely new plan until 3 am. It was as crazy as it sounded. But with the help of our amazing vendors (and other local vendors who heard the cry for help), we pulled it all off and redid everything, despite the storms and mechanical failures.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Custom silk bandanas from Convivio Studio served as the seating chart. We designed these with western motifs, as well as personal touches reflecting the couple’s story (their dogs, their personal brand, etc.). These were such a playful yet thoughtful addition to a wedding, especially with a western theme! Guests loved wearing them around their necks, tied on bags, or waving them in the air on the dance floor.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

The speakeasy story! In the middle of the “3 am-plan-Z” whirlwind, the idea hits me: what if we create a secret speakeasy behind the band curtain? It’s bold, slightly reckless, but entirely FUN. Leather armchairs and sofas are dragged into place, the whiskey bar is set up in a back nook that wasn’t even meant to be usable, the cigar roller is ready/, and our saxophonist is added to lend that sultry, clandestine vibe. Imagine sneaking behind the velvet curtain at your wedding reception and stepping into a world completely apart from the main space—a hidden speakeasy pulsing with western glamour. The space is anchored by deep, supple leather sofas, arranged in intimate clusters that invite conversation. A cigar roller is seated, crafting hand-rolled cigars while guests sip on smoky cocktails from the custom whiskey bar. It’s not just a design element; it’s a unique experience. This hidden lounge becomes a secret moment of indulgence and relaxation—a private escape that contrasts beautifully with the energy of the dance floor, creating layers of experience in the wedding story.
