From Julie Paisley Photography…Rachel and Rob met while they were students at Yale University. Since the campus was so special to them, of course they had to have their ceremony at the chapel. Rachel’s dress was stunning. It was a peach ombre and really stood out against the black of the bridesmaids dresses. So different and so beautiful. Rob surprised Rachel with one of the Acapella groups from Yale and he even joined in and serenaded his beautiful bride. They danced the night away under the stars with family and friends and it was just the perfect day.

The second this wedding from Keepsake Memories Photography came through our inbox, we knew we’d found something special. For starters, the bride Laura happens to be the manager of a bridal salon and knew she wanted something truly unique for her own big day. She took the floral print of an Anna Maier gown and custom-designed a dress fit for a bridal fashionista. But the dress is only the beginning, and there’s much more to see right this way.

From Keepsake Memories Photography…One would think it would be incredibly simple and easy for the manager of a bridal salon to find her perfect gown. But for Laura, who’s used to seeing countless designs every day, it meant wanting something truly out-of-the-box. So, she created it.

One look at the floral pattern from the skirt of an Anna Maier gown was all it took. Laura customized it by using the purple fabric for the entire gown – from neckline to hemline. It was a design choice that, along with her modern black heels and statement jewelry, made an impression. Even though Laura’s style is very modern, she, along with her groom Greg, knew that there were traditional elements they wanted to incorporate for their big day. The two chose to get married at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Norwalk, Conn. – the same church Laura’s parents were married in, in the town she grew up in. She also wore her mother’s cathedral-length veil.

Their color palette for the day was black, purple, white, and gold. Bridesmaids wore long purple dresses and carried bouquets bursting with white flowers. The groomsmen wore black tuxedos, black bow ties, and white boutonnieres.

Armed with a white bouquet, Laura was escorted down the aisle and greeted Greg at the altar, waiting her arrival in a handsome black tux. He exchanged loving smiles with his bride and they made their promises to one another in front of friends and family.

Laura and Greg posed for photos afterwards and soaked in the scene by the water before heading to the celebration. The bride removed her veil to show off her chic up do and get ready to party.

Their reception was a luxurious outdoor affair, complete with elegant white tents, glistening string lights, and loads of flowers. Ferrero Rocher candies served as part of the escort card display and a glittering gold and white cake was a picture-perfect centerpiece.

As the day turned to dusk, the live band kept guests dancing throughout the night. The fun-loving bride and groom enjoyed toasts from loved ones and shared laughs under the glowing tent.

And at the end of the evening, with Greg’s arms wrapped around his bride, Laura was the epitome of bridal style. Not for her dress, shoes, hair or makeup, but for the sheer joy worn authentically across her face.

Summertime Party Tips with True Event!

ONE |  Don’t be afraid to use color! Whether it’s with flowers, linens or decor items, you can change a mood in an instant with color.

TWO |  Get crafty with paper accessories!

THREE |  A fun way to add details is with signs, colorful straws or decorative napkins. Come up with a color scheme and get shopping!

FOUR | Coming up with a signature drink is a great way to get your guests excited about the party. Think of the season you are entertaining and use fresh herbs to add flavors or make it look pretty!

FIVE | Don’t be afraid to get crafty hitting up your local craft store. It’s always a great way to get inspiration and make your event special, unique and not cookie-cutter.

SIX | Keep it simple. Don’t overthink the menu – have four main dishes that you know are tried and true and can rely on beforehand so you aren’t stressing out before the party.

From Hartford Prints!…New Orleans is one of our favorite cities. From the bright colors of the French Quarter to the syncopated sounds of jazz music, New Orleans is definitely a place to indulge your senses. When we brainstormed creating wedding stationery for the West Elm couple, we immediately thought of this city and its historic “funkiness!” West Elm is definitely a store that brings out a couple’s personal style and story. Whether it’s looking for the right sofa or the perfect accent pillow, a couple registering at West Elm is definitely in the mood for something high-quality, yet unique. The geometric shapes, moderns fonts, and color block overlay of our New Orleans suite speak perfectly to the couple looking for handmade, high-quality, and one-of-a-kind wedding paper. We love how the bright white, chartreuse, and turquoise of the paper contrast so beautifully against the rich boldness of the mid-century modern table. We also drew inspiration for the graphic pattern from the geometric design of many of the accent decor. Our paper – like West Elm itself – brings out the creative, artistic, and adventurous side of any couple!

From True Event…When we started to plan this fun event with Hartford Prints & West Elm we envisioned an airy spring atmosphere with spring colors emanating from the beautiful patterns and geometric shapes! This really lends itself for a super fun design working off of the invitation suit designed by Hartford Prints. We knew adding inviting colors and a tropical theme with floral touches would bring on a festive mood. Katherine from KD & J Botanica created the most amazing floral arrangements with adding mini pineapples to make it feel very tropical! Roe from Festivities catering provided the perfect little brunch menu for couples to nibble on while they made their perfect registry. And it isn’t a party for the ladies if they aren’t getting all dolled up! Upstyle provided brow and lip color tips for the spring wedding season. Julia Elizabeth Photographer captured this little soiree so perfectly!

Travis and Lindsay were both enrolled as freshman at North Carolina’s East Carolina University in fall 2007. Lindsay, a North Carolina native, pledged Alpha Phi sorority in her first year of college. It was through one of her good fraternity friends that she met Travis, a native of Stamford, Connecticut. Lindsay and Travis remained friends throughout their early college years until they began dating during their junior year. During their final years of college, Lindsay and Travis remained head-over-heels for each other. After graduating in 2011, Travis and Lindsay moved back to their hometowns. They continued dating through a long distance relationship until Lindsay made the decision to move north in 2012.

For their last vacation of summer 2014, Travis and Lindsay adventured to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It was on this trip that their lives would forever change. After a romantic dinner on their first night stay, Travis suggested for them both to sit out on their balcony and look at the stars. Little did Lindsay know, Travis was about to ask her a big question. Travis gently sat Lindsay down in the one of the outdoor balcony chairs, where he then leaned in for a kiss. He followed by gazing into her eyes and speaking sweet words, elaborating on how their relationship has blossomed over the past five years and he truly could not envision himself without her. After vowing himself to remain hers forever, Travis got down on one knee and asked Lindsay to marry him. Of course, she said “YES!”

Lindsay anticipated a longer engagement because she had envisioned her wedding day since she was a little girl. During the year and a half that she and Travis were engaged, she planned her wedding herself, without the help of a wedding planner. The theme she wanted for her spring wedding day was timeless romance. This elegant setting was expressed throughout many details of her and Travis’s special day.

The bridesmaids sparkled in various styles of Adrianna Papell and Aidan Mattox light pink dresses, while the bride stunned in an ivory Judd Waddell fit and flare gown, featuring a lace bodice and beaded belt. To finish off her romantic look, the bride also donned a cathedral length veil lined with matching lace.

Lindsay and Travis chose to be wed at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and their reception followed at the Barns at Wesleyan. Both venues fit her romantic vision perfectly. Her soft color palette consisted of blush pinks, ivories and gold. Lush peonies and garden roses were the focus of her floral arrangements. Dim lit tree branches and an array of family wedding photos were highlights of the cocktail area, while dramatic chandeliers and opulent sheer fabric hung lavishly from the ceilings in the main dining area.

Travis and Lindsay’s love for one another was captured from the moment they laid eyes on one another at their first look at the Wadsworth Mansion to the very end of the night. The newlyweds said their goodbyes under a sparkler send off, and then jumped into a vintage 1965 Rolls Royce. It was then they began their next chapter of their happily ever after.
