Christian and I got engaged on October 27, 2023, at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, exactly four years after we made our relationship official over brunch in the same place. While Christian originally planned to propose during a walk along the Bow River, he was far too excited (and maybe a little nervous) to wait. Instead, he popped the question right in our hotel room, making the moment feel intimate, unexpected, and perfectly us. We spent the rest of the weekend soaking it all in, just the two of us, before sharing the news with our families and friends. The very next morning, Christian woke up to find me already deep into researching venues and vendors for our big day. Banff had always held a special place in our hearts, but from that moment on, it became part of our love story.

Guests were welcomed into the celebration with a post-ceremony champagne toast, setting a relaxed yet refined tone for the evening ahead. Cocktail hour featured an elevated selection of canapés, including vegetarian spring rolls, prosciutto with tomato and bocconcini, bacon-wrapped scallops, and teriyaki steak bites. Dinner unfolded as a thoughtfully curated three-course experience, beginning with a bundle of mixed greens accented with avocado, mandarin, and poppy seed dressing. For the main course, guests chose between overnight braised beef short rib glazed with braising jus, chicken supreme with a vermouth and sage reduction, or butternut squash ravioli finished with cream sauce, pumpkin seeds, and tarragon oil. The evening concluded on a sweet note with classic carrot cake, the perfect finish to a warm, beautifully paced culinary experience. As the evening went on, guests sipped on margaritas for Christian, Pineapple gin collins for Sarah, and a special feature drink in honour of their sweet dog, Stella – Watermelon lemonade.

A custom curved aisle was created and lined with lush blue delphinium, offering a striking yet elegant moment that framed the ceremony beautifully. Following the vows, the aisle florals were thoughtfully repurposed and woven into the family-style guest tables, reinforcing a sense of continuity and sustainability in the design. Royal blue velvet chairs from Modern Rentals were selected to anchor the ceremony space and elevate the overall transformation with a bold, modern touch. In the reception, a curated mix of lamps and candlelight created a warm, romantic ambiance, while delicate orchid stems—added at Sarah’s request—brought softness and movement throughout. Orchids appeared in her bouquet, adorned the ceremony pillars, and trailed gracefully over the dance floor, adding a final layer of luxury and intention to the design.

Among their shared hobbies is a love for pickleball, which we thoughtfully wove into the design in a way that felt playful yet refined. Working with Holly of Holly Loves Paper, we created pickleball-inspired menus and escort cards that nodded to the sport’s graphic elements while seamlessly blending into the overall aesthetic. The result was a personalized, “pickleball-core” moment that felt intentional and cohesive, adding a layer of personality without disrupting the elegance of the paper goods or the day’s design.

A Puglian Wedding with Mediterranean Neutrals, and Nigerian Meets Danish Influences

Cocktail hour and the evening party featured expertly crafted drinks, while the final pool party embraced a relaxed Italian spirit with pizza, salads, gelato, and celebratory cocktails.

Drawing inspiration from the venue’s warm textures and effortless elegance, they envisioned a celebration that felt personal, heartfelt, and centered on their marriage and their guests, rather than being showy or over the top.

Danielle and Cory met while in undergrad at the University of Florida. After eight years of dating, Cory decided that it was time to finally ask Danielle to marry him. They had spoken about getting engaged before, and both had the same vision – they wanted it to be a special and intimate moment where it was just the two of them. Cory decided that their summer vacation to Portugal would be the perfect opportunity to propose. While watching the sunrise before a hike in Madeira, Cory asked Danielle to marry him. The setting was absolutely breathtaking, and the moment could not have been more perfect. They enjoyed the rest of their vacation and celebrated with their family and friends once they were back in NYC.

At the reception, candlelight, soft draping, and floral-wrapped installations created warmth and intimacy, transforming the room into a romantic setting.

Danielle’s bouquet was a small yet very special detail of the wedding. Danielle attended a lot of weddings where the brides’ bouquets were large with various flowers. While these were beautiful, she wanted to do something different and unique. She opted for a petite bouquet made up of a bunch of blush wax flowers, which she also often used as filler flowers in her other floral arrangements. Cory wore a matching boutonniere. It was simple and didn’t take away from the other beautiful details in the wedding ceremony.

Unfortunately, Danielle lost both sets of grandparents at a young age. She wanted to honor and incorporate them in her wedding day, but wasn’t sure the best way to do so. Their Event Producer and Planner, Alicia Piacenti, suggested she purchase a memory locket to wrap around her bouquet. She surprised her parents with this detail, and they were beyond touched. They now have that same locket wrapped around a floral vase in their house.

Another detail the couple absolutely loved was the dinner menus. These were designed by Events by Elle’s Creative Director, Alex Paz. They created two menus with drawings of flowers from their floral arrangements and rotated these between each place setting. They also used these as name cards, which was a nice way to minimize the number of objects on the dinner tables.

The result was a warm, intentional atmosphere that felt effortless and inviting, allowing guests to fully settle in and celebrate the entire evening.

What started as a simple date night turned into a full weekend of surprises at the Montage Hotel in Laguna Beach. We arrived early for a pre-dinner cocktail and a walk along the ocean path, and as the sun began to set, Grant led me to a quiet lawn overlooking the water where flowers and champagne were waiting. He proposed there with the ocean behind us while a photographer captured the moment. The night continued with a private dinner at the Montage, where both of our families were waiting, complete with our go-to wedding cocktail. After dinner, we were surprised again when all of our closest friends were waiting in the hotel lobby, and Grant had also planned for us to stay at the hotel that night. We ended the evening out in Laguna Beach before returning to the Montage, then spent the next day relaxing by the pool and soaking in our engagement together after a night filled with family, friends, and celebration.

Inspired by the Ringling’s history and architecture, subtle references to its museum and circus heritage were woven through statues, textures, and entertainment. Long feasting tables, abundant florals, custom details, and layered décor created an immersive setting that felt romantic, energetic, and deeply rooted in the place.

Although Tori is a Chicago native, the architecture tour had always been on her bucket list. Her parents scheduled a tour, but the plans took an unexpected turn. When she arrived and noticed her parents were nowhere to be found, she saw Dan—who she thought was out golfing—waiting near the Wrigley Building, ready to ask her to marry him.

Dinner followed with Michael’s signature chopped salad and a choice of entrée: filet mignon, pan-seared mahi mahi with capers and sun-dried tomatoes, or quinoa-stuffed roasted peppers with feta. Family-style seasonal vegetables and rosemary potatoes accompanied the meal, and the couple’s wedding cake was sliced and served by the catering team.

The bride then walked with her father to “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman, a song choice that felt deeply personal and full of anticipation. After vows beneath the historic terrace, the couple recessed joyfully to “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” by The Beach Boys, an upbeat, classic finish that perfectly captured the celebratory energy of the moment. Longboat Key has been woven into Tori’s life since childhood, becoming the backdrop to her happiest memories. Every year her extended family gathered there for Easter – the one big trip they all looked forward to – and it became a place filled with nostalgia, laughter, and tradition. In his speech, her father shared that whenever he asked young Tori where in the world she wanted to go, the answer was always Longboat Key – never Disney, always here. As she grew older, she brought Dan to Longboat Key as well, a quiet sign of how special he was to her and how much this place meant. Choosing to be married nearby was not a coincidence; it was a full-circle moment, honoring the place that had always felt like home.

Each space at the Ringling opened into the next – a ceremony by the water, cocktail hour in the courtyard, and dancing above the twinkling lights below. At the reception, music continued to guide the energy of the evening, from the first dance to “Believe” by Mumford & Sons to heartfelt parent dances and a lively dance floor led by live band Kilometro and DJ Alex later in the night.[/field]

Custom stationery by the talented Blanche Heirloom was a uniquely spectacular detail. A five-piece invitation suite with beautifully unique floral sculpting, custom crest, and layered elements communicated to guests before the wedding day ever began that it would be an experience unlike anything they’d seen before. Romantic, lush, and with deep attention to detail, the invitation set the stage for the entire event. That beautifully intricate, luxury style was carried through the wedding day. From the bar menu, which echoed the design elements of the invitation, to the table numbers, to the menus and escort cards, guests were delighted by the beauty, depth, and texture that intentional, luxury paper goods brought to the experience.

Nicole’s family surprised Patryk with an incredible choreographed routine, changing into their signature, bold track suits and providing one for Patryk, as well. While the outfits changed, the energy did not. Everyone was on the dance floor, celebrating with full energy and delight late into the evening. It was a truly unique celebration that kept the focus on family, tradition, and new beginnings. [/field]

The proposal was intimate and emotional. Darren shared how certain he was about their future and how he wanted to spend his life exploring the world and building a home with Karla. In April, Carson and Eric went to Austin, Texas, to celebrate Carson’s birthday. While there, they went to Lake Travis and were getting ready for dinner to celebrate. Before dinner, Eric took Carson to the lake and got down on one knee and popped the question. Carson said yes, and both of their families surprised them at the lake. It was a sweet evening to celebrate the engagement with loved ones and a birthday Carson will never forget.

At cocktail hour, guests were served wine and the signature cocktail as they entered the space. The bar hosted lots of spirits, including the Bride’s signature drink, a Classic Margarita with Tajin on the rim. The groom opted for a signature drink of Diet Coke with a lime wedge. During cocktail hour, guests were served passed hors d’oeuvres, including a beef carpaccio on grilled focaccia toast with dijon caper cream and micro arugula, smashed avocado tostadas garnished with pomegranate arils, and chicken tinga quesadilla with honey chile lime crema on top. The guests moved into the reception space and were greeted with a glass of champagne and a plated field green salad with tart apples, dried cranberries, candied pecans, and cider vinaigrette. On the table was grilled focaccia brushed with herbed olive oil and served with whipped butter. The main course was passed next with the guest’s choice of red wine braised short ribs or pan-roasted airline breast of chicken with fig reduction. The entrees were served with rosemary new potatoes and charred broccolini. The food was absolutely divine from start to finish!

The florals and decor exemplified the romantic atmosphere and moody vibes. Florals were vibrant and brightened the space, while the moss and greenery hanging from the light fixture were earthy. Various roses, hydrangeas, amaranth, moss, and more florals flowed together, creating the perfect autumn floral scape. The tables dressed in linens were lined with beautiful floral arrangements, warm candles, table lamps, moss, seasonal fruits, white plates, satin napkins, gold cutlery, green velvet table numbers, and beautiful stationery. The checkered green and white dance floor complemented the moody tones of the florals. The cocktail space had a velvet lounge set with warm lighting. The seating chart was a beautiful light oak wooden table with an elegant floral arrangement consisting of the same autumn components and escort cards. At the end of the night, the cake stand had its moment. It was a mauve satin linen with a white marble cake stand, florals blooming from all around the table, and taper candles tied with satin ribbon bows. From start to finish, the florals and decor seamlessly conveyed the desire for a soft, moody, and romantic wedding.

The bride and groom love coffee. One of their first dates was over a coffee, bright and early in the morning. They wanted to add a fun surprise for guests and incorporate their love for coffee into the wedding. Plus, coffee helps the dance floor be more energetic and lively. It was a hit! The coffee cart came out after dinner and served matcha, tea, hot chocolate, seasonal and classic latte flavors, and regular coffee. People raved over the coffee cart as a source of joy and energy to keep the wedding lively.

The couple had a crest made with their first initials for the wedding to add a personal detail to the event. It was seen first in the invitation to set the intention. On the wedding day, it was printed on the linen welcome sign, flowing in the wind at the entrance. Then, on the programs during the ceremony. It was also featured on the frosted cups at cocktail hour and the back of the menus at dinner. It was a tiny reminder of the couple spread throughout the night that made it special and memorable.

The proposal happened in July 2024 and was a complete surprise in terms of timing; however, Zahra had suspicions that it would happen sometime in 2024, as they had gone ring shopping in January and February. The first year of their relationship (2022) was long-distance, with Zahra living in DC and Marshall living in Seattle. In July 2024, they happened to be back in Seattle for a day before heading out on an Alaskan cruise. They spent the afternoon in Seattle visiting one of their favorite restaurants for happy hour and exploring Marshall’s old neighborhood. In a local park that they had previously spent a lot of time in, Marshall was able to find a secluded spot by the water where he asked Zahra to marry him. They ended the evening by going out to dinner at their actual favorite restaurant in Seattle: Pink Door.

A Pistachio & Mauve Wedding Beneath a 1,000-Year-Old Plane Tree in Pelion Inspired by Greek Myth

Set in Pelion, the mythical land of the Centaurs in Greece, this wedding unfolded beneath the generous shade of a 1.000-year-old plane tree, where nature, history, and romance came together effortlessly. Deeply inspired by the landscape and its folklore, the celebration embraced an organic elegance, rooted in place and storytelling. Styling details carried a vintage allure, with layered textures, velvet fabrics, patinated elements, and thoughtful compositions that echoed the spirit of old-world gatherings while remaining refined and intentional. A highlight of the design was the custom table formation, created to wrap organically around the ancient tree and the lighting setup as well. This bespoke layout transformed the tree into the heart of the celebration, a symbol of longevity and connection, inviting guests to dine together in a setting that felt intimate and grounded. and deeply connected to nature. This wedding was a celebration of place, myth, and meaningful design, a modern love story told in one of Greece’s most enchanting landscapes.

Thano proposed to Georgia on the 15th of December 2024, in a moment that felt nothing short of magical. They have been together since they were 17, high school sweethearts who grew up side by side, crossed countries together, and built a life hand in hand after she moved to the UK in 2011. Thano had always known that Christmas was her favourite time of year, and that New York had been a bucket-list dream throughout their relationship. Visiting the city in the snow, seeing the Rockefeller tree, and ice skating beneath it already felt like a lifelong dream come true. Then, in the middle of the Rockefeller ice rink, in front of hundreds of people, Thano went down on one knee. She was left emotional, speechless, and trying, once again, not to fall over on her skates.

Guests were treated to a true taste of Greece, with dishes ranging from classic Greek salad and traditional cheeses and pies to freshly prepared gyros, creating a relaxed yet deeply authentic dining experience. The menu reflected the couple’s wish to share the flavors of local culture, turning dinner into a joyful, communal celebration.
A professional bar company curated a selection of premium signature cocktails, served from a beautifully styled vintage bar setup that perfectly complemented the event’s nostalgic aesthetic. Near the bar, a pair of Charleston lime sofas created the perfect spot to linger close to the dance floor throughout the night.[/field]

The florals were composed exclusively in shades of green, mauve, and dusty pink, styled in ceramic pots with vintage stone finishes. Sculpted faces on the vessels echoed the aesthetic of ancient Greek statues, adding a timeless, artistic character to the design. The color palette was further expressed through organic elements such as grapes and pears adorned with pearls, carefully selected to complement the overall tones and create a fully cohesive visual story. Candles completed the look, while pears were also used as place cards, paired with handmade mauve paper name tags, each pinned with a single pearl and placed at every setting. The seating board became a statement photo shoot moment. Velvet fabric, hung from the tree’s grand branch, formed an elegant drapery, paired with ivory linen on which the two rows of tables and guest names were beautifully displayed.

The cake was a long, rectangular vanilla creation, impressive not only for its refined simplicity but also for its striking length, making it a true statement piece. Resting on a custom-made pistachio base with a vintage finish, the presentation echoed the overall aesthetic of the wedding: timeless, elegant, and thoughtfully curated. Adding a deeply sentimental touch, the cake was crowned with a vintage bride and groom topper, a cherished heirloom that had also been used at the wedding of the bride’s parents. This meaningful detail beautifully connected generations, turning the cake into more than a design element; it became a symbol of continuity, love, and family heritage.

As the newlyweds exited the church, Vivaldi – The Four Seasons, Spring 1, recomposed by Max Richter, played, while guests showered them with rice in keeping with Greek tradition.

Proposal story: What started as the most ordinary afternoon quickly turned into the moment that changed everything. While I was out taking our cat to the vet, my fiancé was quietly setting the stage for a surprise I never saw coming. In the time it took for me to return home, he had filled the space with roses, chilled champagne, and all the love he had been holding onto—because, as he later told me, he simply couldn’t wait another second. Originally, he had planned an elaborate proposal, full of grand gestures and carefully orchestrated surprises. But when I started to catch on, he pivoted—just 24 hours before—choosing something far more meaningful. What unfolded instead was an intimate, heartfelt moment that felt us entirely. A Mediterranean Editorial at Braccialieri with Sun-Bleached Neutrals, Olive Groves, and Sicilian Color

Tucked within an archaeological olive grove of centuries-old trees just outside Noto, Sicily, this luxury destination wedding photography workshop at Braccialieri was born from a desire to celebrate the layered beauty of Mediterranean living. A world where tradition, nature, and contemporary design meet with quiet elegance. A place where refinement doesn’t shout, and luxury feels grounded in the land itself. From the beginning, the creative direction centered on contrast. Elegant yet playful, elevated yet earthy, timeless with a touch of modern irreverence. Because in Italy, beauty often lives in the in-between.

The color story was crafted to reflect the soulful essence of Sicily, sun-warmed, emotionally rich, and texturally grounded in the landscape. At its core were ivory and soft, sun-bleached neutrals, echoing the limestone architecture and the quiet elegance of Mediterranean light. Muted terracotta and earthy browns anchored the editorial in something raw and honest, a tactile nod to the Sicilian soil. Olive green, drawn directly from the surrounding groves, introduced an organic counterpoint, both grounding and alive. To complement this restrained base, pops of red, a reference to Braccialieri’s now-iconic checkerboard pool, added moments of playful tension. These editorial gestures never felt forced. They were rooted in place, designed to surprise the eye without overwhelming it. This philosophy extended into the pre-wedding table design, set within the venue’s intimate bar area. Inspired by the white lotus, the tablescape embraced a bold, maximalist pattern, layered with handwritten plates, sculptural florals, and local elements like garlic, onions, and tomatoes. Each color was chosen not to match, but to harmonize, creating a palette that felt both unexpected and deeply native to the land. In the end, the color didn’t perform; it punctuated. A restrained vibrancy that whispered presence and personality, rather than shouting for attention.

Built within an archaeological olive grove of centuries-old trees, this luxury eco-glamping retreat blends soulful restraint with contemporary design, inviting guests into a world where presence, memory, and sensory richness quietly converge. Its philosophy of luxury through simplicity guided every creative decision. The architecture is essential and luminous: clean lines, soft filtered light, and a rhythm of raw textures against refined gestures. Nothing shouts. Everything breathes. What defines Braccialieri is not grandeur, but emotional geometry. The softness of its spaces, the warmth of the stone, and the intimacy of its layout make it feel both elevated and grounded. Every corner, from the olive garden ceremony site to the angular dinner table woven around the trees, was curated to echo the venue’s ethos: intimate, earthy, and deeply rooted in Sicilian heritage. At the heart of the estate lies its most iconic feature: a red-and-white checkerboard pool, a bold reinterpretation of traditional Sicilian kitchen tiles, designed by Alessandro Enriquez. Surrounded by vibrant parasols and nostalgic patterns, the space feels at once playful and cinematic… a visual anchor that brought editorial energy to the story. Braccialieri doesn’t just host a wedding. It holds space for stories to unfold with elegance, ease, and soul.

Graphic elements and vivid tones set the tone: whimsical red inflatables shaped like sun-kissed tomatoes, blue-and-white retro-striped rubber rings marked with La Dolce Vita, and the vibrant contrast of sun, water, and wild olive groves as the backdrop. These touches weren’t just playful; they were a nod to Sicilian humor and design boldness, balanced by an undercurrent of elegance and restraint. Guests, styled in crisp monochromes and flowing silhouettes, drifted between cocktails, laughter, and spontaneous dancing, embodying the kind of relaxed glamour that defines a truly Italian celebration. The bride, radiant in sheer lace with a daring slit, and the groom, effortless in white and beige, embraced the carefree spirit of the evening. It felt like a stylish Italian vacation… nostalgic, yet undeniably modern. This poolside gathering was more than a party. It was a sensory experience: visual, emotional, tactile. A tribute to joy, to place, and to the art of celebration done well.

Nothing was overly arranged or ornamental. Instead, the approach leaned into garden-wild elegance: florals that felt like they belonged there all along.

The palette was grounded in the elements of Sicily: muted greens drawn from the olive groves, soft blush tones that echoed sun-faded plaster and bougainvillea, and earthy siennas and russets that spoke of terracotta, aged wood, and sun-warmed stone.

At the ceremony, a joyful installation of oversized paper florals added a touch of whimsy and movement to the gardens. This unexpected element introduced color and lightness without overwhelming the setting… a celebration of nature’s palette, reinterpreted with playful artistry.

Across the tables, florals were kept low and sprawling, woven organically into the tablescapes. Hydrangea heads nestled into airy grasses, while textured foliage meandered between ceramics, lights, and custom fabrics, forming a living narrative of color and form. Nothing felt placed, everything felt grown.

The overall floral language was quiet yet evocative: editorial, but never forced. Intimate, yet grounded. A celebration of imperfection and instinct… blooms that moved with the wind, responded to the light, and belonged wholly to the soil and spirit of Sicily.[/field]

Among the most memorable design moments, the cake stood out as a bold sculptural statement… a contemporary homage to classical form and feminine strength. The main wedding cake was hand-carved to resemble a fragmented torso. Draped folds mimicked soft fabric in motion, transforming it into something far beyond dessert… an installation in its own right. Positioned atop an oversized terracotta urn and framed by silk, florals, and filtered light, it became an object of quiet intrigue. Next to it, a second creation took the shape of a traditional Sicilian Moor’s Head, sculpted entirely in chocolate and finished with delicate macarons in sun-baked tones of olive, ivory, and umber. Both designs played on the edge of irreverence and elegance, blending strong visual identity with tactile richness… grounding the editorial in something unforgettable. Even the cake-cutting moment was approached with intention… less spectacle, more symbolism. Each layer revealed echoed the palette of the landscape: warm, textured, and softly surprising. This wasn’t just a cake. These were edible artefacts, a fusion of elegance, narrative, and sculptural drama. A quiet testament to the creative tension at the heart of the editorial: where tradition meets reinterpretation, and beauty becomes something you can taste.

A Cultural Fusion Wedding in Prague with Indian Traditions, Czech Customs, and a Vineyard Mandap Ceremony

Fusion of indian and Eastern ceremony and reception. The ceremony was being held at the vineyard with a stunning view of Prague, in a traditional mandap. There are little stones on the ground, which are not comfortable for high heels, so we covered the whole area with green astroturf.

The groom proposed to the bride on an unseasonably warm and sunny December afternoon in Central Park, a place closely tied to their life together in New York City. Having met in the city and spent countless hours wandering the park over the years, it felt like a natural setting for the moment. He chose a quiet, tucked-away spot by the water, with the skyline in view.

The bride wore a deep wine–colored lehenga with intricate beading that reflected the light throughout the ceremony. The embroidery extended across the lehenga skirt and blouse. She paired the look with a sheer wine-toned veil, which, like the lehenga, included emerald green accents threaded through the palette. The touches of green added dimension and echoed the emerald details on the groom’s traditional Indian sherwani. The lehenga was from Frontier Raas in Delhi, India.

Food was again a fusion of Indian and international food. We hired indian chef coming to the villa and making traditional indian food for cocktails after the ceremony and late snack – samosas, pani puri, lassi, etc. The dinner was served, international, where guests had a choice between meat and vegetarian options.

The wedding cake was ordered by the mother of the groom and delivered to the villa with a sweet bar. Groom’s mum also baked traditional Czech wedding sweets that were served in lovely boxes. Guests also received a bottle of traditional Czech Slivovice – plum spirit. The cake was simple white, decorated with fresh flowers.

The bride and groom set out to weave together elements of their Indian and Czech cultures throughout their wedding celebrations. The wedding festivities began with a sangeet held aboard a boat on the Vltava River, where guests danced while taking in views of Prague. The wedding day featured a Czech civil ceremony followed by a Hindu ceremony, overlooking the beautiful and historic city. During the reception, the bride and groom shared a speech in both English and Czech and took part in a Czech tradition in which a plate is broken, and the couple cleans up the pieces together, symbolizing partnership and cooperation. The celebrations concluded the following day with a historic tram ride through Prague.

To keep authenticity, many items were delivered directly from India – from saris for both families, to pashminas for ladies, beautiful earrings and bracelets that ladies took as a gift, in a lovely traditional indian bag. We customized 2 stalls, in on was placed the jewelry, in other served traditional masala chai, decorated by indian spices in packets from India. The couple sits in front of a beautiful wall with original fabric wallpaper, decorated by peacocks, that was also delivered from India. Peacocks were used at all stationery, especially a beautiful order of service, which perfectly explained the ceremony for Western guests.

A Hindu priest arrived from Budapest, Hungary, to marry the couple after a traditional Czech ceremony. Mandap was decorated by loverly pieces delivered from India, and all the ceremony props came from India as well.

A Timeless Summer Wedding with a Long Table Reception and Old World Candlelit Elegance

In our design endeavor for the wedding of Dania and Ivan, Adriatic Weddings and Showroom design aimed to infuse a sense of timelessness and warmth into the wedding details, creating a table setting that is memorable yet harmoniously integrated into its surroundings. Soft elements highlight the ease of the evening, fostering a calming atmosphere. The gentle movement of the breeze serves as the final touch of the design, playing with textures to create a magical and vibrant ambiance at the table. To enhance the dining experience, we incorporated silver cutlery that exudes old-world charm, complementing the white linens and the vibrant green and burgundy hues of the grape installations. This choice beautifully connects the venue’s stone facade tones with the table arrangement. The warm flicker of candlelight suspended by vintage, silver-toned candelabras created a gentle glow, fostering an inviting atmosphere. We also utilised natural fabrics for the table setting to achieve a classic and timeless aesthetic. This enduring design encapsulates the spirit of a summer evening, where sophistication and style seamlessly blend, inviting guests to savor a memorable dining experience in a stunning environment. The intimacy of the atmosphere of friends and family was accentuated by all 115 guests dining at one long table.

Ivan and I have been friends for a very, very long time. He’s always been part of my family because he’s my older brother’s best friend, so I’ve always known him. I think as soon as we realized that we liked each other and that we were going to start dating, which was in 2021, we already knew that it wasn’t going to be just a summer fling. We knew it was going to be more than that and something serious. So the proposal wasn’t very surprising. It was something that, from the very beginning, we kind of expected after about two years of being together. He took me to an industrial warehouse where they do painting classes. The place was booked out just for Ivan and me. There was a painting teacher, a long table, and a canvas and paint on each side of the table. The teacher said that the lesson for the day was to paint what we believed our relationship would look like over the years. I painted a flower that was growing and growing in stages. I don’t even remember what Ivan painted. The whole place was booked for us, there was music, and we weren’t allowed to look at each other’s paintings until we were finished. As soon as we showed our paintings to each other, he got down on one knee and proposed to me. It was the most special moment. It was beautiful, and I’ve never said this out loud.

The kick-off of the festivities was at the welcome cocktails. Guests were served an open bar with two signature cocktails – Pisco Pitch – a tribute to the groom’s football obsession – bright, punchy, and guaranteed to score! Disco Kiss, named after the couple’s first kiss under a disco ball. A buffet of local mezze delicacies was served as well. The guests enjoyed San Canzian’s gastronomical expertise with tuna tartare as the cold appetizer, followed by a traditional local Istrian specialty – Pljukanci pasta with seafood bisque. Each guest had a choice of either beef steak with a side of potato dauphinois or sea bass fillet with sweet potato cream, citrus gel, and crispy fennel as the main course. In a sweet twist of events, the selected dessert at the sit-down dinner was an Espresso Martini cocktail for each guest. This choice of dessert made sure the guests got a shot of energy before proceeding to the dancefloor, where a buffet of sweets awaited, curated by the lovely local KJ Pastry patisserie.

The wedding bouquet was medium-sized, a statement piece that gives the impression of an elegant, light summer composition and frames the overall impression of the wedding. The florals used were local and garden-grown, inspired by Istria. The table decor was achieved through grape, fig, and asmaranthus installations, all accentuated with subdued tones from the candlelight. All the cutlery and candelabras were silver-toned, giving the setup a vintage, old-world feel. At each seat, a craft paper name tag was held securely in position by an artichoke.

The couple opted for a Tiramisu Tower, again curated by KJ Pastry. After a toast, each guest was offered a Tiramisu serving.

The ceremony opened with the procession of the wedding party. It was officiated by two of the couple’s nearest and dearest friends, and culminated in the couple’s vows to each other, followed by a beautiful and deep reading of an excerpt from ‘On Marriage’, by Kahlil Gibran: Then Almitra spoke again and said, And what of Marriage, master? And he answered, saying: You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore. You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days. Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God. But let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other’s cup, but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread,d but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, even as the strings of the lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow. The couple opted for a well-known local harp player, Doris Karamatić, to be their musical soundtrack to the ceremony. The bride entered to ‘Forever’ by Labrinth, and the couple exited to the song ‘Beyond’ by Leon Bridges.

Approach to wedding photography. For Dania and Ivan, photography was envisioned as an unobtrusive, documentary experience, one that would preserve the genuine rhythm of the day and the natural flow of emotions. In close collaboration with the photographer, the couple embraced a relaxed approach focused on capturing spontaneous moments shared with their guests, allowing the story of the celebration to unfold organically. The imagery reflects the warmth and authenticity of the gathering, framed by the timeless beauty of San Canzian’s stone architecture and serene surroundings. Thoughtful attention was also given to the details of the evening table setting, where textures, candlelight, and carefully curated elements were documented in a way that felt effortless and true to the atmosphere. Together, the photographs convey an intimate visual narrative, one that feels natural, emotive, and deeply connected to the setting and the people within it.

A Joyful Pastel Wedding with Colorful, Conversation-Driven Design and a Statement Oval Bar

From the first planning call, Bride Leah gushed about loving pastel colors and wanting to brighten every space for her guests. No colors were off-limits, but the design was rooted in shades of pastel pink with yellows, corals, oranges, and blues.

With a stationary reception, we wanted the guests to utilize the entire venue and have the design be creative, colorful, and encourage conversation. By using the veranda and tasting room as additional dinner locations, we were able to bring in fun design elements to the Granary in addition to the guest dining tables you typically see. We anchored the reception design with a large custom oval bar from Paisley and Jade. We used a warmer color palette for the florals, from peach to butter yellow, and complemented this with a cooler color palette for the linens and furnishings in green, blue, and pink. The design flowed effortlessly throughout the venue with slightly different vibes in each room to ensure guests always felt welcomed, engaged, and included.

Leah and Blake got engaged on a Sunday evening in Nashville, where they were both pursuing graduate-level studies at Vanderbilt. Their engagement was a private moment as the sun was setting, but absolutely filled with joy. They went on an engagement-moon to Rocky Mountain National Park to celebrate, and shared the news publicly upon their return. It was as sweet as can be.

At the beginning of dress shopping, Leah tried on her grandmother’s wedding dress that both her mom and aunt wore for their own weddings. It was so special, but it wasn’t quite right for Leah’s ceremony, so she wore the dress to her rehearsal dinner downtown, surrounded by family, and it was so sentimental. Leah’s wedding gown choice was no less sentimental – she interned with a non-profit in high school called Cherie Sustainable Bridal, and ended up being able to return to her roots and find her dress at an organization she already cared so much about!

Leah and her maid of honor, Anne, worked together to select the bridesmaids’ dresses, and they landed on Azazie sky blue dresses and gave each attendant the flexibility to select the style that best suited her.

Pippin Hill Farm is known for its bespoke wedding menus, and Leah and Blake’s wedding was no different. Their 215 guests spread throughout the venue and enjoyed stations of southern cuisine, a variety of pastas, and a station of traditional beef tenderloin and cozy side dishes. There was something for everyone! The full bar was complemented with signature cocktails – (His) Maker Happy – Maker’s Mark Bourbon, Red Pump Red Wine, Lemon, Simple Syrup (Hers) Summer Sangria- Rose, Elderflower Liqueur, Seasonal Fruit

Tupelo Floral Co. took the pastel, floral-forward design and brought it to life. At Christ Episcopal Church, we hung wreaths of the wedding colors around the front doors that complemented the bridesmaids’ bouquets. At Pippin Hill, guests were greeted with floral baskets at the entrance to the veranda, along with disc golf disks the groom designed himself, using the wedding crest. The big design moments were in the Granary for the reception. Guests walked through a lush floral arch to be greeted by the expertly designed wedding cake, hanging greenery and florals, and a varied reception with three different table designs. Anchoring the reception design was a 16′ oval bar and a matching stage facade for the band, provided by Paisley & Jade.

Cakes by Rachel took this pastel, whimsical summer design and brought it to life in the wedding cake. Knowing this masterpiece deserved to shine, we placed it at the entrance to the granary so every guest saw the work of art with sugar flowers that perfectly matched the design of the day.

If you asked Leah and Blake throughout the planning process what they were most excited about, they always answered that they were excited to marry each other and exchange vows while surrounded by loved ones. The design of their day was so incredibly fun, it flowed impeccably, and yet the root of the entire event stayed with Leah and Blake and their marriage.

The Groom was an active disc golf player in college at UVA, and the wedding favor was custom discs with their wedding crest. We set up a disc golf area on the lawn at Pippin Hill, and with the late summer sunset, it was a popular activity throughout the event.

Leah’s brother surprised guests at the end of cocktail hour with a bagpipe performance, starting in the vines of the vineyard.

As an additional favor for the guests, a live painter was available for guest portrait painting during the wedding and quickly crafted meaningful keepsakes for attendees.
