An Authentically Tuscan Wedding Weekend at Borgo Santo Pietro

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]We brought the Tuscan landscape into Design and evoked it through colors, botanical
elements and perfumes.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We planned a three-day event for this life-lover couple and their guests to savor an authentic
Tuscan experience.
The first day: Greetings from Tuscany.
Let’s imagine a postcard of the landscape of the Sienese countryside, which becomes the
world in which guests and spouses immerse themselves.

Second day: Wedding day – Tuscany in verse
We tell Tuscany through the poetry of Dante and Petrarca because our land is not only food and traditions but also culture.
When we talk about Tuscany, we must also talk about its poetry. And we want to do it by
choosing love verses from these two Tuscan poets.
We celebrate love, beauty and culture.
We find details like a canvas with poems, hand-decorated tableau and menus, and live
painting.
The wedding cake has the textured surface of an ancient Tuscan venue. It is fissured and
suspended to recall the connection between the earth and the ethereal, carnal love and
spiritual love we found in Petrarca and Dante’s poetry.

Third day: Golden vineyards
Market stalls, bicycles, straw hats and botanical lunch for a typical Tuscan experience. This
is an immersive lunch in nature. We see the exaltation of the natural colors that the
landscape offers us; we make the vineyards, the land and the Tuscany protagonists.
Our spouses and guests share meaningful moments, laugh and sing Italian songs. We
wanted them to feel the connection to tradition, which is family, love, and roots.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]When Luca and Cleina met, there were food, drinks and laughs, as in the best Italian
tradition. They suddenly felt something unique. And they were right.
With shared values, great love, a dog and a lovely daughter, they planned a Destination
Wedding in Tuscany to celebrate their love.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Our design incorporates elements of the beautiful Tuscan landscape, from the rolling hills and sprawling vineyards to the vibrant colors of the Mediterranean flora. By evoking these natural features through our use of colors, botanicals, and fragrances, we’ve created a space that transports you to the heart of Tuscany. With every breath, you can take in the fresh scent of blooming flowers and aromatic herbs, while the warm tones of the sun-soaked landscape envelop you. Whether you’re seeking a serene retreat or a touch of Mediterranean glamour, our design brings the beauty of Tuscany right to your doorstep.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Our wedding cake is not just a sweet treat, but a work of art that reflects the rich cultural heritage of Tuscany. Its textured surface is reminiscent of the ancient stone walls of Tuscan venues, with deep fissures and rough edges that add depth and character. But this cake is more than just a nod to history – it also represents the connection between the earthly and the spiritual, the carnal and the divine. Inspired by the works of famous poets like Petrarch and Dante, our cake is suspended in a way that evokes the balance between these elements, creating a stunning visual representation of the beauty and complexity of love. Every bite is a celebration of the rich history and culture of Tuscany, and a tribute to the enduring power of love.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Music was the soul of Luca & Cleina’s wedding day at Borgo Santo Pietro in Tuscany, thanks to the exceptional talent of the musicians from MUSICA EVENTO. With their sweet and engaging harmonies, they created a romantic and suggestive atmosphere that enveloped the bride and groom and all the guests in its magic. Every note was like a gentle caress for the soul, an emotion that left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who witnessed their performance. Thanks to their skill and passion for music, the musicians from MUSICA EVENTO made Luca & Cleina’s wedding day an unforgettable experience that will remain in the memories of all who had the privilege to attend.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The venue of Luca & Cleina’s wedding day at Borgo Santo Pietro in Tuscany was simply breathtaking. The timeless beauty of this ancient estate, nestled amidst the lush green hills and valleys of San Galgano, captured the imagination of all the guests. Borgo Santo Pietro is an oasis of peace and tranquility, where nature blends with elegance and luxury to create an unforgettable experience. From the spacious and refined rooms to the infinity pool overlooking the valley, every detail has been carefully crafted to offer the utmost comfort and relaxation. The cuisine at Borgo Santo Pietro is a true celebration of local flavors, prepared with fresh and genuine ingredients sourced from the estate. And the impeccable and attentive service made our guests’ stay even more special. In short, Borgo Santo Pietro was the perfect setting for Luca & Cleina’s wedding, a dream venue that will remain forever in the memories of all those who had the privilege to experience this unique event.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]As a photographer, I can say that having the opportunity to spend three days with Luca & Cleina definitely contributed to the success of the photo shoot. It allowed us to establish a more natural rapport with the couple, which translated into more relaxed and authentic photos. Working side by side with the wedding planner and the talented videographers from Lumos Produzioni was also crucial, as it enabled us to coordinate our efforts and ensure that everything went smoothly. The teamwork and coordination were essential for an event like this, and having a tight timeline was critical to keeping everything on track. All in all, it was a pleasure to be part of such an incredible event, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to capture the beautiful moments and memories of Luca & Cleina’s wedding day.[/field]

An Enchanting Ballroom Wedding at a Luxury Rosewood Hotel

Blush tones with gold accents are a timelessly romantic pairing that complemented the ornate ballroom of the Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s 5-star property in Vancouver.

Monica and Victor’s wedding was enchanting, whimsical, and every bit the fairytale wedding they had envisioned.

Guests were treated to a 4-course dinner starting with a smoked cauliflower soup followed by a salmon aburi served on crispy rice. For mains, guests chose between an Alberta angus beef striploin or a delectable miso-marinated sablefish. To finish, dessert was a green tea, passion fruit-infused mousse that was light and airy — the perfect end to a delicious dining experience!

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Even though their reception was held at a hotel, both wanted to stray away from traditional banquet rounds and create an elegant environment for their guests instead. Long tables and tapered candles were key to creating a cosy and intimate ambience for their plated 4-course dinner. Each place-setting featured an escort card with the guest name calligraphed in walnut ink, set next to a delectable Ladurée macaron box. Monica and Victor dined at a rectangular head table that was level with the guest tables but overgrown with lush florals.

Whimsical and Modern Winter Wedding at the Historical Grand Gimeno

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Blush, taupe, mauve, and a hint of yellow are the perfect winter colors for the warm and earthy tones at the venue, Grand Gimeno. The bride envisioned a timeless wedding and loved the idea of blush and taupe together, she added mauve for an extra kick of romance, and it all came together with the surprising array of winter hues in the florals. From deeper hues like burgundy to hints of yellow in her bouquet and centerpieces, the colors added depth without overpowering.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

There’s no better way to set the tone than with flowers. The right flowers help guests feel like they’ve stepped into another world where whimsy and luxury are natural partners, and the only thing that matters is the celebration of love. At the same time, the couple chose a historical venue with a Spanish Colonial Revival design, the reimagined modern-day detailed interior allowed for flexibility to pursue the couple’s vision. The couples’ goal was to create an elegant celebration that felt intimate and joyous, and they achieved it with simple, modern touches and complementary winter-hued colors.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

“James planned an elaborate scavenger hunt at the Huntington Library with a music playlist to accompany the adventure. My parents were in on the surprise, so it made it that much more special,” the bride.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

Each bridesmaid wore a unique Birdy Grey style in either mauve, taupe, or blush. Having her six bridesmaids pick their own style was very important to the bride as she wanted each to feel confident and beautiful.

The couple’s food was light and bright – bite-sized appetizers (including tasty Fig, Goat Cheese, and Mascarpone Tarts) got the palette started for the evening buffet options such as tequila lime chicken and tri-tip carver. The couples’ signature drinks included the classics – Paloma and Old Fashioned.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

A whimsical organic arch provided color and vibrancy for the heartfelt ceremony. Later, Ikebana-style centerpieces, candles, and modern place settings on the reception tables set the tone for a simple, elegant, and luxurious evening.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The couple chose a two-tiered personal cake to cut per tradition; the florist added a petite arrangement on the second tier to match the centerpiece style.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

When the bride and groom planned their wedding, they knew one detail was non-negotiable: their daughter Regan would be their flower girl. Her dress was simple but elegant, and while she couldn’t walk down the aisle, she looked adorable in her cousin’s arms.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The bride loved seeing her daughter being a part of the wedding, she included her in their “getting ready” moments – they wore matching PJs! The bride said it “was truly special.”

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]While they originally planned for an outdoor ceremony, the rain had other plans! The weather worked out perfectly in the end as they were able to walk and enjoy the moments after the ceremony in the open back patio.[/field]

The Many Something Blues of Lake Como at Villa Balbiano

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The wedding colors were chosen to complement and accentuate the stunning blues of Lake Como. The principal color was a bright white with minimal blue accents in varying shades.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The key consideration in wedding design was to only enhance and not detract from the colors naturally appearing at the venue, while still giving the ceremony and reception area a clean and modern feel. The ceremony arch in particular was custom built by the florist, Rattiflora, for the wedding with the bride’s guidance to give as much visibility to the lake and mountains as possible while providing a touch of ornateness. The overall objective was to balance a timeless and classic wedding with a fresh twist.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Logan and Agnes were vacationing in Sintra, Portugal, and spent the day visiting several castles in the area. Unfortunately it began to rain in the early afternoon and while normally not a fussy individual, Logan was frantically looking to purchase an overpriced umbrella at the nearest souvenir shop. Although this should have tipped off Agnes, she continued on the tours without any indication that a proposal was about to happen that evening. Once back in the hotel, Logan stepped out of the room for a “work call,” which was in actuality him making calls to the photographer and driver for the evening to confirm the plans. On the drive to dinner, Agnes noticed Logan’s hand getting progressively clammier, but again, was still oblivious as to what was about to occur. Logan asked the driver to drop them off at a cliff lookout point as they were a bit early for the dinner reservation. At this point, Agnes started to suspect that something may be happening and scanned the cliffside to see if maybe there was a not-so-secret photographer lurking. While there was a photographer, he and a model (which Agnes later learned was the photographer’s girlfriend who was, in fact, a model) were deep into a photoshoot, so Agnes figured it must not be for their proposal. A few minutes later, Logan turned to Agnes and began recounting their journey together, including him finally being able to meet Agnes’s grandparents who live in Poland earlier on in the trip. Agnes was so overcome with emotion, carsickness from the windy ride up the cliff, and also a tinge of distress from the height of the cliff, that the first words out of her mouth were, “I think I’m going to throw up.” Thankfully, the feeling soon passed and the couple was able to enjoy a picnic on the cliff followed by a romantic horse carriage ride by the ocean at sunset.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Agnes fell in love with the Tayra gown made by Eva Lendel when she first saw it on Pinterest. After flying to New York to try it on, she realized that while the bottom of the dress was perfection, the top unfortunately didn’t suit her. After visiting countless other stores, Agnes still couldn’t stop thinking back to the Tayra gown. One day, Agnes was scrolling Instagram and saw another dress by Eva Lendel, the Glam gown which had a beautiful structured sweetheart top. She went back to New York to try on the Glam gown, and the bridal associate at WONA noted that the designer would be able to use the Glam top with the Tayra bottom. Agnes purchased the combination without ever having seen what the two dresses would look like together. Once the dress arrived, Agnes had it tailored to add straps to the dress so that she could dance the night away without fear of any wardrobe malfunctions![/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]For the bridesmaid dresses, Agnes chose Dessy dresses in the color Mist. The material was luxe and shimmery, and the blue was the perfect pop of color that also complemented the lake perfectly. At the time, mix and match dresses were beginning to become evermore popular, but Agnes loved the clean and uniform look of the girls in the same fabric but with two different dress styles. [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Agnes and Logan were unable to travel to Lake Como to do taste testing before the wedding, but heard so many wonderful things about the caterer (plus, it’s Italy, how could one go wrong?) that they chose only off of the menu and pictures provided. To this day, the most common word guests have used to describe the food has been “incredible.” Class Eventi provided infused waters for the guests upon their arrival, followed by passed hors d’oeuvre such as fresh tuna with sesame seeds and shiso flowers along with decadent meat and cheese stations. For the seated dinner portion, the first course was a parmesan soufflé with nuts and caramelized Martin Sec pears. For their main course, guests chose ahead of time between a sea bream served with pistachio cream sauce, a truffle pasta, and a piedmontese scottona with red wine sauce. For dessert, the couple opted for a dessert table with traditional Italian desserts and mini cakes.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The flowers were designed in close collaboration between Agnes and Rattiflora. Agnes’s vision was to have solely mixed bright white florals, including for her bouquet and the bridesmaid’s bouquets. The ceremony aisle was adorned with bunches of white flowers of varying heights and sizes, placed in every other row. The arch was a custom build and was accentuated by cascading orchids. Orchids also formed a part of the bar and table decorations for continuity, but the bride and Rattiflora were careful not to sway too much towards a tropical feel. Agnes wanted to use flowers that weren’t overly trendy, but at the same time did not feel outdated.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The couple decided to forego a wedding cake in exchange for a dessert table in an effort to save costs after a few hiccups along the road ended up unexpectedly adding to the budget. Agnes always dreamed of taste testing wedding cakes and so it was difficult to give up the experience, but her sisters Claudia and Ania have promised that they will bring Agnes along to their respective tastings once they’re the ones getting married![/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Music for the ceremony was provided by the extremely talented Florence String Quartet, who provided the couple with an extensive list of songs to choose from. The couple chose to do classical music for the ceremony when guests were being seated and during the entrance procession for the bride. The quartet then played covers during the cocktail hour, including the Game of Thrones theme song and songs by the Beatles and Cold Play. Agnes surprised Logan by asking the Florence String Quartet to learn a shortened version of Wait by M83 for her entrance, which is one of Logan’s favorite songs. As for the readings, Logan’s mom Judi read a poem about marriage, and Agnes’s dad read a letter from her grandparents in Poland who were unable to travel to the wedding due to declining health. The couple’s first dance song was Dear to Me by Electric Guest, which is the song they would always play on Sunday mornings when cooking breakfast together. ASAP Showband played for the dinner and dancing portion of the evening, and the night was topped by an electric sax and DJ duo, Tasten’Sax. Tasten’Sax is made up of two Italian brothers who love electronic music just as much as Agnes and Logan do, and they closed out the night by playing hits by Eric Prydz and Purple Disco Machine.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Instead of a guestbook, the bride and groom chose to use a coffee table book about Villa Balbiano for guests to sign. They provided different colored metallic pens and guests were prompted to sign on whichever page they wished.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The groomsmen got dressed in Logan’s suite at Hotel Villa Flori and then took a boat to the venue. During the ride over, the boys enjoyed some champagne gifted by Logan’s sister, Jordan. Agnes also wrote a letter for the groomsmen which was read out loud by Logan during the short ride over to the venue.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Agnes had written her vows on the Notes app in her phone, but she ran out of time when transcribing them into the vow booklet the morning of the wedding. Her sister Claudia continued to write them, only to pass along the duty to another two bridesmaids when she herself was called in for hair and makeup. The vow booklet became the bride’s favorite momentum from the wedding, as it serves as a reminder of the support and love she felt from her bridesmaids all day long. [/field]

Countryside Garden Wedding at Park Winters

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Primarily cream with blush tones, peach, soft blues and sea foam greens.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Bella & Billy had a very distinct vision coming into the wedding planning process. Bella was the main visionary behind the overall aesthetic. When she pictured their beloved wedding day, a classic English Countryside Garden vibe and design is what came to mind. The couple prioritized an intimate wedding to be able to spend time with all who attended. Every guest had their own personal impact on the couple’s love story and relationship.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Bella and Billy have been together for 8 glorious years and originally met in Davis, California while attending college at UC Davis. The two were coworkers at their apartment complex and bonded over pizza deliveries to their residents! When the day came to propose, Billy planned a date on their 6-year anniversary. With the help of Bella’s cousin, Billy had arranged a wine tasting date at Domaine Chandon Winery in Napa Valley. When they arrived, there was a large arrangement of Bella’s favorite flowers and a violinist playing Taylor Swift’s “Love Story.” (Are you crying yet!?) Billy got down on one knee, recited “Love Story” lyrics, and proposed. He even thought to dress up their dog in a bow tie for the occasion![/field]

Bella had a dress change for the reception with a lighter linen dress, ankle length to show off her adorable shoes. It was the perfect outfit to dance the night away![/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Bella’s bridesmaids dresses ranged in color, style, and pattern. While some were in dusty blue, others chose to lean toward the sea foam green. Some chose classic chiffon and pleats, while others chose delicate florals. The group did a lovely job of staying within a similar color palette, but all together the variation they provided was such a fun layer to their group photos. [/field]

Park Winters has their very own farm on property and uses multiple ingredients grown onsite within their menus and dishes. One of our favorite appetizers during cocktail hour was the Tuna Poke featuring wakame, soy, sesame, green onion, and miso aioli served elegantly in individual porcelain spoons. The couple also had custom signature cocktails to tribute Billy’s bartending profession! Mickey, their beloved dog who had just passed shortly before the wedding, was honored in having one of the cocktails named after him and custom illustrated cocktail napkins of the pup’s portrait. Their signature cocktails were “Bella’s White Linen Sour,” “Billy’s Hojicha Old Fashioned,” and “Mickey’s Blueberry Mojito.”[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Fig & Vine created the stunning arrangements and personal florals for the entire wedding. From garden gathered bouquets, to the light and beautiful bouttonierres. The ceremony arrangements were some of our personal favorites with the ground aisle arrangements leading up to a stunning broken arch full of cream and blush florals with lush greenery. For the dinner tables, Fig & Vine adorned them with delicate bud vases of various sizes paired with ceramic compotes of naturally styled centerpieces. The full setting was finished off with warm grey tapered candles enclosed in clear hurricane vases for an elevated dinner setting. As for the tablescape decor, Theoni Collection provided sea foam green ceramic chargers and matching velvet napkins. Minimalist gold silverware brought a cozy warmth to the overall aesthetic. Shimmer & Stain provided the parchment paper menus each customized with the guests’ place card attached.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Let Them Eat Cake (Davis Location) provided the extremely tasty two-tiered wedding cake. Iced with a spackled frosting look created a more rustic and natural appeal. Fig & Vine’s florals were tucked delicately in between tiers to complete the look. The wedding cake table was a vintage round side table provided by Blossom Farm Vintage Rentals which fit in perfectly with the garden party design. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]One of our personal favorite details was the lounge set up provided by Blossom Farm Vintage Rentals. The mix of a velvet forest green couch, a vintage chestnut leather club chair, a cream and wooden linen chair with brass details, all brought together by a vintage trunk suited as the coffee table pulled together a beautiful scene for guests to sit back, relax, and enjoy the evening. Billy and Bella even thought ahead to provide blankets for their guests when the night got chilly![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Another special detail was the couple shared personal vows to each other during their first look. It was such a beautiful moment to treasure with just each other. Tears and smiles were exchanged as Billy & Bella poured their hearts out to one another in the Sunken Gardens of Park Winters. They also recited more traditional vows during their ceremony in the presence of their closest family & friends![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]We wanted to hear from the couple themselves what their favorite part of their wedding day was and we received this touching feedback.

Bella’s favorite wedding day moment was their first look. She remembers feeling restless all morning, but finally being able to see Billy and spend time together melted the nerves and stress away. She was, “surprised by how emotional I got!”

Billy’s favorite moment were the speeches during the reception. To him, this was when everything finally sank in. He recalls, “hearing our story told through the lens of some of our favorite people, and knowing how much our friends love my wife, I was overwhelmed with happiness at that point!”[/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]A fun take on white and green florals that incorporated garden roses, ranunculus, anemones and dahlias with organic and lose greenery paired with terra cotta vessels.

White trestle tables with dusty blue runners were paired with raw wood chairs for a clean and preppy feel! Clear and white chargers sat beneath stone blue dinner and salad plates with golden oro glassware and a tamarind velvet napkin to tie in the terra cotta touches. Accents of gold flatware paired beautifully with marble and brass taper candle holders that ran along the table in between the sprawling florals. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Our couple chose an elegant minimal cake via Hey There Cupcake adorned with fresh florals and greenery! For an interactive element, we had an ice cream cart for guests to make their own sundaes and pair with their slice of pie and an “On the Green” dessert bar with mini pies + tarts. Mini golf figurines sat on top of the pies as a nod to all things golf. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Guests then danced the night away on the dance floor listening to The Ben Mallare band playing all of their favorite songs![/field]

A golf club wallpaper paired with white and wood golf ball buckets filled with golf balls in which guests names were calligraphed in a shade of grass green. Loose florals growing up the table created an elegant yet effortless feel![/field]

Romantic Elegance At This Charming California Wedding

Special touches and thoughtful detail make this Big Day stand out. Michelle Garibay Events planned the dreamy day, with heartfelt moments like glow ball golf as a tribute to the groom’s late father. Flowers by Soiree Floral Design created a fairtale like experience, and all the love and joy of the day is artfully captured in imagery by Amy Golding. Visit the full gallery to get lost in all the lovely.

From the bride… We absolutely loved the Stone House and Temecula Creek Inn! The intimacy and fairytale feel of the venue was exactly what we were looking for. The atmosphere we were going for was an intimate setting with our family and friends, full of beautiful details, and us and all of our closest loved ones having so much fun celebrating our special day. The most important parts to us was our first look, first look with my dad, pictures with Keegan and my dad, glow ball golf tribute to Keegan’s dad, who passed from cancer.

From Michelle Garibay EventsThis wedding design was centered around classic elegance and timeless details. An abundance of lush blooms in soft, warm neutrals was the focal point for each aspect of the wedding, and some unexpected elements peppered in added some fun for your guests throughout the evening. Light wood farm tables was a pretty canvas for the romantic design. Each place setting was adorned with white ruffled ceramic chargers, and once the sun set, soft candlelight filled the space and sparkled off the crystal goblets to set the tone for dinner.

The stationery was an important first impression, so soft lines, venue-specific details like the sketch of the venue on the envelope liner, and hand-dyed silk ribbon created a fun opening experience. Guest touch-points were intentional from the moment they arrived until the end of the night, centered around personalized and custom details and interactive experiences, such as the glow golf as a tribute to the Groom’s dad.

Aspen Wedding Celebrates The Outdoors And Colorado’s Rocky Mountains

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]White, light gray, blush[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We knew we wanted to have the wedding in Aspen, and so we were inspired by the beauty of the landscape and the western influences. Our welcome dinner Friday was “Aspen western” themed. We knew we wanted to do the ceremony outside with the backdrop of the beautiful landscape, and we got so lucky that the rain held off for us to be able to do that! Most of the design inspiration came from our amazing planner, Juls Sharpley, who channeled our vision for a “dinner party” feel. Kelly Hornberger captured it all perfectly.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]We met working at the same firm but I (Elizabeth) was in the New York office and Bloor was based in San Francisco on a different team. For a few years we were just friends/colleagues but always enjoyed each others’ company. We originally met in 2016 and started dating in 2018.

We got engaged in Aspen (where our wedding was and where we have so many of our favorite memories together). We lived in Aspen during 2020 (when we were working from home during COVID) and also had some of our first trips together there to ski. It has become our happy place and our home away from home and we got engaged on top of the Ute trail in the summer of 2021, and Bloor hiked the same trail with his groomsmen the morning of our wedding.[/field]

A Beautiful Ocean View Wedding at Two Historic Venues in the Heart of La Jolla

Their wedding colors were a mix of white and green shades, with the bridesmaids in pastel pink dresses.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Their style design included various textures, from the floral arrangement, dress choice, to having various vases on the reception tables. Their goal for their wedding was for their guests to enjoy the ocean views, and to soak in the ambiance. The couple did this by having guests dine outside surrounded by string lights and candles during sunset. Hailey and Morgan wanted to have a bit of fun with the reception space and included a giant disco ball to encourage guests to stay out on the dance floor.

Wedding Day Fragrances That Will Have Your S.O. Falling in Love All Over Again

You’ve likely spent the larger part of your planning processes mulling over what you’ll look like on your big day. But, have you given any thought as to what you’d like to smell like?! LOL, but seriously, you need to pick a scent for your wedding. Scent is the strongest sense tied to memory, so it’s kind of an important decision. Why can’t you just wear your signature scent that you wear every day? Well, for the same reason you probably aren’t going to wear a dress that you’d wear every day or style your hair or makeup the same way. Babe, it’s your wedding day…it’s special! And we get it, perfume isn’t cheap, so why invest in an entire bottle for one day? It’s not just for that one day, it’s for every special day (happily) ever after. Break it out for anniversaries, birthdays, and other milestones you reach as a couple along the way. A spritz for when they carry you over the threshold of your first home, a spritz in your hospital “baby’s coming” go bag for good luck, and a spritz for every other exciting moment to come. And from all of us at SMP, we wish you a full life with your soon-to-be hubby or wife and an empty wedding day perfume bottle to show for it. Now let’s find you a scent, shall we?

PHOTO | Lace & Luce

Which Type Of Scent Is Right For You?

Scents are sooooo personal! There are four basic scent families that all perfumes stem from: Floral, Fresh, Woody, and Amber. But most perfumes are a mixture of all of the above, so to keep things simple, we focused on the top two scent notes for each of these romantic perfumes that will have your S.O. falling in love with you all over again.

Soft & Floral

Let’s start with this category because nothing says wedding more than a floral perfume. Sweet, fragrant, and rich at the same time. Romance and flowers go hand-in-hand, so you really can’t go wrong with one of these floral-leaning scents.

For Her Eau de Toilette by Narciso Rodriguez

Photo | Nordstrom

More musky than your average floral perfume, this is the perfect scent for the bride who normally steers more toward deep, spicy perfumes but wants something with more floral notes for their big day. The warm pear accents also make this a good floral scent for fall or winter weddings.

Love In White by Creed

Photo | Nordstrom

With notes of Magnolia, Iris, and Jasmine this floral scent is full-bodied and has warm woody undertones. Though, the crisp citrus finish still leaves it feeling fresh and won’t weigh you down.

Delina Eau de Parfum by Parfums de Marly

Photo | C.O. Bigelow

This perfume is all about roses. So, if you’re a rose girl, this one is for you. Plus how cute will this gorgeous bottle look in your getting-ready photos?!

Bright & Fruity

There is something universally appealing about citrus notes and the light scent of sea spray.  If you’re not usually into perfume or are sensitive to floral-heavy scents, a fresh, fruity scent may be just what you’re looking for.

Jasmin 17 Eau de Parfum by Le Labo

Photo | Nordstrom

Don’t let its unassuming bottle fool you, this little fragrance packs a punch (in a good way). As far as fruity perfumes go, this citrus-centric perfume also features strong white floral notes that give it a bit of an edge. We also love that Le Labo will add your name to the bottle…

Allure Eau de Parfume by Chanel

Photo | Sephora

Described as “clean” and “sheer” this sexy perfume will leave them wanting more. This light, airy citrus scent with its notes of Peony is perfect for a summer wedding!

Replica: On A Date by Maison Margiela

Photo | Sephora

Designed to replicate life’s special moments this super affordable line of fragrances is perfect for weddings. We especially love the effervescent fruity notes of this one that are reminiscent of a champagne picnic with your favorite person.

Deep & Woody

If you like spicy scents with a lot of warmth and a hint of musk, then this is the fragrance genre for you. These scents are dark and sexy and have an air of mystery…who doesn’t love that?

Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurant

Photo | Yves Saint Laurant

Intrigue in a bottle this sexy perfume leads with pink pepper and brings you in for a soft finish with orange blossom and pear notes. This warm scent would be perfect for a fall or winter wedding.

Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian

Photo | Neiman Marcus

A favorite of fragrance-files everywhere, this classic has since gone viral on TikTok, and for good reason. Its rich palette of woody notes and spicy amber are mellow and sensual–the perfect counter to those wedding day nerves.

Chanel No. 5

Photo | Macy’s

Then, of course, there’s always Chanel No. 5 If you simply can’t decide. She’s a classic and a guaranteed home run. Technically this classic is considered a woody scent, but its clean powdery finish sets it apart.

Enchanted Italian Countryside Wedding Bursting With Texture

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Blush, sage, and white[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]I have traveled to Italy many times, and quickly fell in love with the country where my Grandparents grew up. I started looking up venues in Italy, and instantly fell in love with the Tuscan countryside and ultimately the venue we selected! La Foce was the first venue I looked into – after seeing it, nothing compared!
Brad and I traveled to Italy last fall to meet with our wedding planner and see our venue! Being in Italy inspired me to keep with some Italian wedding traditions- during dinner we had an accordion player and we opted for a traditional Italian wedding cake instead of an American tiered cake (which was prepared live for all of our guests to see).
The beauty of La Foce inspired me to keep my decor simple and minimal yet luxe with a touch of glam![/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Brad and I met on dating app in January 2020, little did we know we only lived three miles apart! We quickly bonded over our mutual love of family and travel, and were even lucky enough to take a quick trip to New Orleans in the beginning of March 2020 – getting home just days before the stay-at-home order. We stayed apart for a few weeks, and our love only grew stronger! Over the next months we spent a lot of time with my big, Italian family as well as Brads amazing parents and siblings.

In May of 2021, we went to Chicago for what I thought was a weekend away with some friends. Much to my surprise, he proposed on the Navy Pier with the beautiful water and skyline in the background! We came home to a nice engagement party with some of our family and friends.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]My grandma owns a bridal shop Piera’s Bridal Couture that I help manage, and I have been working in bridal since I was 13 years old! I thought picking a wedding dress was going to be the most difficult part of planning a wedding, (thankfully) I was wrong!
I have close relationships with many of the designers we carry in the store and was so excited when my friends from Justin Alexander invited me to try on dresses with them in their showroom in New Jersey! The Justin Alexander Luxury houses many brands (we carry 3 in our store). I worked with Teri Hilferty- the Chief of Design and Merchandising, who I have known for over 10 years.
I first tried on a dress I had seen previously when I was buying for our store by Sincerity that I thought would be perfect for my welcome dinner- it was and that was it! Then we moved on to pulling wedding dresses! There was a dress hanging near the dressing room that caught my eye, but wasn’t really what I was looking for. Teri suggested I try it on anyway and it was the first dress I put on. As soon as I saw my reflection in the mirror I knew it was “the one”! I felt like the hundreds of brides I help that end up with something completely different than what they think. I tried on a handful of others but ended up saying “YES” to that first dress! It was a beautiful silk and tulle gown with handcrafted 3D flowers by Viktor & Rolf Mariage. We customized the dress a bit to make it just right for my destination wedding. The team made the long train removable and a custom veil to match the dress.

I wore emerald green Christian Louboutins to match my diamond and emerald earrings and wedding band.

I changed into a second gown (late night) by Eve of Milady.
[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]All other bridal party attire was purchased through our store, Piera’s Bridal Couture. Mother of the Bride and Groom both wore dresses by Teri Jon, my matron-of-honor wore Jovani, and bridesmaids wore mis-matched dresses from designers; Watters & Watters, WTOO, Hayley Paige Occasions, and Sorella Vita. [field title=”Florals & Decor”]We kept the florals soft and romantic to let the beauty of the venue speak for itself. We had blush and white roses, lisianthus, and baby’s breath.[/field]

I asked a couple times if we should cancel since EVERYTHING would be closed, but he said it would still be a welcome break from being cooped up in our apartment. After dinner in our hotel room, he told me he had an “early Christmas present” for me to open. I LOVE my ring. Chance designed it for me in the LA jewelry district. It is a pear-shaped solitaire diamond with a gold band, a very beautiful shape and setting. It feels unique, yet timeless.[/field]

Entrees included coconut poached king salmon with spring peas and thai curried broth, along with a cabernet-braised short rib and mushroom risotto with duck egg, crispy kale and pecorino.

Specialty cocktails included a Negroni and a “Twisted Paloma” with tequila, ruby red grapefruit juice, Cointreau, a pinch of salt and cayenne pepper for some heat.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Delicate florals designed by Golden Fields Floristry featured the best of spring’s bounty. Single-element bridesmaid posies included astilbe, sweet peas, tweedia, and alstroemeria. The bridal bouquet brought all elements together, along with a dogwood, a spring favorite.

The long dining tables were adorned with soft blue Sublime Ocean linens from Napa Valley Linens. Theoni Collection Olivier chargers with matte gold leaves, and gold foil accents on the menus and table numbers printed by Minted, brought the whimsical vine motif together. Centerpieces set in white ceramic compotes featured a mix of ranunculus, hellebores, foxglove along with delicate ferns and meandering vines. Ivory and taupe taper candles in hurricanes, along with sweet votive candles, gave a warm, romantic glow to the tables.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]One of the bride’s fondest memories as a child was a grand cupcake display at her aunt’s wedding. Shannon wanted to re-imagine this for her own wedding. It was also very important for the couple that their family contribute their creative talents to the wedding design. The groom’s father custom built a large, white wooden cupcake tower display, which was decorated with loose white blooms and delicate greenery. Delicious cupcakes came from Sift, a local San Francisco bakery.[/field]

A ”Summer Festival” Theme Made for Endless Fun Details at This Temecula Creek Inn Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Rust, burnt orange, beige, soft mustard, cream, off-white[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Melding two design aesthetics into one unique wedding is always exciting! The combination of “elegant boho garden” and “summer festival” allowed a lot of opportunities for some fun elements while still making sure it was elevated! The playfulness came from fun fonts and shapes in the stationery and rich green and dried ferns with an abundance of colorful blooms for a lush garden feel. The combination of moody warm tones with lighter neutrals was a fresh take on this popular color palette. Texture played a large role in this wedding design as well with woven mats to anchor the place settings, wood and linened tables, modern gold flatware, patterned napkins, a fringed macrame chandelier for the sweetheart cabana. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the Bride: We met back in high and dated for a little bit. We ended up going our separate ways for college and had no communication. He added me on social media after college and I DM’d him on instagram and we started dating again. We dated for 5 years.

He took me to Palm Springs for the weekend. We went to the tramway in Palm Springs all the way up the mountain and from there we walked around a little. We were walking around the forest and then came up to an area where there were roses on the floor leading up to a bridge with flowers on each side. He walked me to the bridge and got down on one knee and asked me. When I said yes the photographers came out and then we did our engagement shoot there. It was amazing. [/field]

10 of the Coolest Rehearsal Dinner Ideas Ever

By the time the rehearsal dinner rolls around, after months and months (and sometimes years!) of planning, the countdown is on. Out of town guest have arrived and settled in, friends and family wait with baited breath to officially begin the celebration of your tying the knot. While rehearsal dinners have traditionally been pretty predictable–a more formal affair the night before, regardless of the style or feel of your actual wedding day–they can occasionally, dare we say, give the party at the reception a run for its money. With more and more couples infusing every single element of their nuptials with their personality, we’ve rounded up some fresh, inventive ways to kick off the weekend festivities with the ultimate rehearsal dinner.

1. Serve feel-good food

If you’re a foodie, opt for a killer menu featuring all your faves. Have your favorite restaurant be the star of the show for dinner or dessert (or both), and make a presentation out of each and every dish. Pay homage to a dish you and your future spouse shared on a first date for the ultimate sentimental move, introduce rehearsal dinner guests to dishes you can’t live without, or let the entire menu consist of bite-sized morsels for dinner with an epic dessert to end the night with. Bite into the groom’s cake early to guarantee everyone gets a little slice of heaven before the next day’s reception festivities!

2. Host a rehearsal brunch

Kick off the wedding festivities with a rehearsal brunch! Even if your rehearsal won’t take place until later in the day, breaking bread with your nearest and dearest over a breakfast or brunch spread might give you a little extra cushion time the night before the big day, guaranteeing you’ll at least have the opportunity to call it a night early and catch some extra zzz’s.

3. Entertain yourselves

Save the band and the DJ for the big day, and let your friends and family hear your vocal chops–and show off their own. Load the karaoke playlist with all the hits, and be sure to add a tune or two that’s perfect for a duet or trio, something that’s sure to emerge once the music’s started and your bridal party gets in on the action!

4. Pick a location with a story

We love when things get personal: why not give guests a unique perspective of your love story with a rehearsal dinner ripe with meaning? Maybe the site of your proposal or the restaurant you hit on your second date are the perfect spots to welcome guests to.

Photography by Oliver Fly Photography

5. Go with a theme

Go all out with everything from decor to the menu; make it a fiesta, or a seaside clambake, or a country-themed hoedown that calls for cowboy hats and spurs. It might be night and day different from the design of your wedding the next day, but take the theme and run with it!

Photography by Rebecca Yale Photography

6. Make it a costume party

Everyone loves a chance to dress in costume, and that’s a fact! Give your guests a chance to spend the rehearsal dinner in character for a few hours; choose a theme that’s easy for everyone–like your favorite decade–or assign your guest (and their plus one) a character that might perfect for them. Make sure you hire a photographer willing to capture the night before…chances are you’ll want to remember everyone’s creativity in years to come!

7. Give guests a taste of the town

Have a large percentage of your guest list traveling near and far to make it to your celebration? Show off the city of your nuptials the best way you can, by selecting a rehearsal dinner venue that’s either a key to the city, talk of the town, or showcases all the best things about where you’ve gathered. Consider the hidden gems that only locals know about, and treat your guests to what feels like a best kept secret.

Photography by Lacie Hansen | Venue: San Francisco Ferry Building

8. Head to a unique location

Turn tradition on its head and host a rehearsal dinner somewhere completely unconventional: maybe at a bowling alley to keep things light-hearted and fun or even host a ‘field day’ for friends and family at the park with a casual barbeque dinner. Rent out one theater at the movies and treat everyone to all the movie snacks their hearts can stand–and see if management will let you stay a little longer after flick is over to so you can turn the lights up and make time for speeches. Guests will love the idea of getting to do something out of the ordinary as part of your weekend celebration.

Photography by Jose Villa Photography

9. Pick a place with a killer view

On the beach, at the dock, or tucked away in a mountainside hideaway, a stunning location can serve as the perfect backdrop. With an unbeatable view, the rest of the details, from tablescapes to food to music, will lend themselves to an unforgettable experience that you’ve offered guests, and perhaps even hint at what’s the come the next day as you say “I do.”

Photography by Katie Grant Photography

10. Hold an official game night

If you’ve got a competitive streak, or perhaps want to provide a more relaxed, casual environment, providing games are the perfect way for guests to have fun, but also get to know each other, as members of both sides of the family might want the opportunity to not only catch up, but embrace new members too. You are, afterall, joining two families together, and they’re there to celebrate it! Lawn games are always a hit, as croquet or lawn chess or even jenga are universal games that pass time for young and old alike. But step it up a notch by perhaps dividing into teams for a classic round of charades or the like, and offering a great first place prize–like being served dessert first!

A Classic Southern Wedding With Modern Twists At Arlington Hall

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were pink, blue and white with touches of gold.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The two words I kept returning to, to describe my wedding vision were romantic and elegant. I wanted a classic Southern wedding with a few unique, modern elements. The wedding was formal, but it was important to us that the flow of the night created a warm and relaxed feel for our guests.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Warren and I visited NYC (his first time!) last April, and on the first morning in the city, he got down on one knee in the middle of the mall in Central Park. The combination of him being extremely relaxed, and me thinking a proposal would be coming later in the year, was truly the best surprise! It proceeded to rain the entire day, but we were lucky to have the sun shining and see the cherry blossoms that morning. We spend the rest of the weekend celebrating in the city and will remember that trip forever!!

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

Monique Lhuillier has always been my favorite wedding dress designer due to her signature feminine, romantic lace gowns. I went to several different boutiques but found my dress at the Neiman Marcus Bridal Salon in downtown Dallas. After trying on many dresses that weren’t the one, I thought we would leave the salon empty-handed until my amazing consultant brought in a sample from Monique Lhuillier that she thought matched my vision. Before I even tried it on, I thought it was the most beautiful gown I had ever seen. The dress has layers and layers of lace paired with a corset top, low back and subtle shimmer. A few months before the wedding, I decided that I wanted to get a reception dress that was a bit more modern and that contrasted the classic ballgown style of my first dress. I have always loved the signature bow dresses from designer Alexia Maria and thought the Margaret Gown perfectly fit my vision for a second dress! It was so much fun wearing that dress; I never wanted to take it off!

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

I have always wanted blue bridesmaids dresses, and Bella Bridesmaids has the perfect icy, satin, pale blue fabric. The dress I chose is a trumpet style with a square neckline and slit — all of my girls looked incredible in it, and I’m so happy with our choice!

We stuck with the Southern vibe when it came to food. Hors d’oeuvres included bacon-wrapped chicken, brie in mini Filo cups, and filet mignon crostini. Dinner was a wedge salad paired with a delicious pecan-crusted chicken with mashed potatoes and haricots verts. One of the night’s highlights was having a coffee cart pre-ceremony and during cocktail hour, which served all of your classic coffee drinks, espresso martinis, and Irish coffees! It was a bit chilly, so a warm drink was just what we needed.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

I wanted to figure out a way to pair pink and blue (my two favorite colors) together without it giving baby shower vibes. We kept blue in the accents like napkins and bridesmaids’ dresses with our florals being white and lots of different shades of pink. Our florist made everywhere you look magical, gradually bringing more color in as the event progressed.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Panini Bakery designed a 5 tier cake showcasing our wedding crest, the lace from my gown, and lots of real florals between each tier. I gasped when I saw how beautiful it turned out! We chose a white chocolate mouse with raspberry filling and dark chocolate mousse. SO delicious!

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

We had a true mix of classic and modern songs for our ceremony, which were all played on a string quartet. I walked down the aisle to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis, and our recessional was to “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love),” a song I have always loved since watching The Parent Trap!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Since early on in wedding planning, I was obsessed with the idea of using French Macarons as place cards at each guests seat. I thought it would be cool aesthetically, but really wanted them to be a delicious treat that guests got when they first sat down at their table. We tried a few macarons from various places and didn’t love them, so my mom and I decided to try making them ourselves. A few tries (and errors) later and after turning my parent’s kitchen into a bakery, we had 300+ macaroons made. Not only did they turn out cute, many guests told us it was the best macaron they’ve had![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The bide’s sister embroidered our head table napkins with our wedding monogram that was used in many details. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]I’ve always loved the classic look of a checked black and white dance floor and incorporating this in to the design was a must![/field]

Timeless Affair at Camélia Gardens in Sintra, Portugal

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Off-White, Silver, and Green (sage and oil) with small accents in baby blue[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]From the start, I envisioned our wedding day to be an elegant and timeless affair inspired by the romanticism and magic of Portugal, particularly Sintra. Our aim was to create an intimate yet tasteful wedding that captured the essence of my now husband’s beautiful country.
After visiting several venues, we finally chose the picturesque Camelia Gardens in Sintra for its castle-like architecture and lush greenery. To complement the venue’s yellow castle, we opted for green as our main wedding color, with accents of white, yellow, and baby blue for contrast. Our wedding was a daytime event held in late summer/early fall, featuring a beautiful sunset and cake-cutting ceremony, al-fresco dining, and plenty of dancing.
We had the pleasure of celebrating with family and friends from all over the world, including Portugal, the Dominican Republic, Spain, Italy, France, the United States, Nicaragua, Colombia, and Ecuador! It was a fantastic celebration of love and culture that we will always cherish.
Today, thanks to our amazing photographer, Alice, we are able to relive every moment and every detail of this beautiful day.

Fernanda, our wedding planner, was an absolute gem and we were incredibly fortunate to have her as our wedding planner. After researching and interviewing several wedding planners, we stumbled upon Fer’s website and knew immediately that she was the perfect fit for us. Not only was she fluent in all three languages – English, Spanish, and Portuguese – making communication with our families and vendors a breeze, but her exceptional organizational skills kept everything on track and running smoothly.

On the day of our wedding, Fernanda exceeded all expectations and went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect. Her hands-on approach and unwavering dedication to her craft and clients were evident in every detail of our special day. We cannot thank her enough for making our dream wedding a reality.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Typically we are both very involved in the planning of a weekend. However, this time Gustavo had already handled everything: hotel, dinner reservations, and transportation, hence there was a hint of speculation on my part.

The couple, Maria Clara and Gustavo were in Madrid, Spain, the city where they had first met. Gustavo planned a surprise weekend getaway for Maria Clara in Toledo, Spain, taking care of all the details from hotel reservations to transportation and activities. The couple spent the day exploring the beautiful city before enjoying a romantic dinner at the luxurious Two MICHELIN Star restaurant, (Iván Cerdeño-Cigarral del Ángel Restaurant)
During a stroll through the restaurant’s breathtaking gardens, Gustavo got down on one knee and proposed to Maria Clara, speaking in her native language of Portuguese. Overwhelmed with happiness, she said “sim” and the couple basked in the romantic atmosphere.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Unlike other brides, I wasn’t certain about the dress style I wanted for my special day. So, my mother and I set out on a journey to find the perfect dress. We headed to Miracle Mile in Miami, renowned for its plethora of bridal boutiques, and tried on countless dresses from various styles and stores. After an exhaustive search, I finally stumbled upon a dress that spoke to my heart. The moment I donned the dress, I knew it was the one for me! The dress was a breathtaking princess gown with a plunging neckline, made of soft tulle with an organza lining for added definition. It was named “Yiya” and designed by Marchesa for Pronovias.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]In the Dominican Republic, the tradition is to have several flower girls and ring bearers along with a maid of honor, instead of a large group of bridesmaids. For my wedding, my sister Lourdes was my maid of honor, and she looked stunning in a custom-made strapless mermaid gown. The dress was made of a beautiful green fabric, inspired by the lush greenery and gardens at Camelia Gardens, the picturesque location where the reception was held.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The groom, Gustavo, looked dashing in an elegant three-piece suit tailored by the renowned Alfaiataria Lusa in Porto. The suit featured a tasteful blend of silver and baby blue colors, which were carefully chosen to be part of the wedding color palette, and added a stylish touch to his overall look.[/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]The catering for the wedding was done by Casa do Marques, which was exquisite. We encountered some cultural differences due to the Portuguese tradition of having large dinner feasts and the Dominican culture’s emphasis on dancing and lively party atmosphere, but we managed to incorporate both. As the wedding took place in Portugal, we opted for a plated, 3-course sit-down dinner with an appetizer followed by a fish and steak dish. However, to infuse the Dominican culture, we ensured plenty of dancing and a lively party atmosphere. Our guests from both cultures had a great time celebrating our union, enjoying the delicious food, and dancing to a mix of Latin music. We also included traditional Portuguese pastries, such as Pastéis de Nata on the dessert table.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The venue we chose was breathtakingly beautiful and we knew from the start that it would need very little decoration. Our goal was to enhance the venue’s natural beauty with subtle floral arrangements and decor.
To achieve this, we opted for “flowy” and organic floral arrangements, using daisies, white hydrangeas, baby breaths, and peonies. We also incorporated accents of baby blue flowers in the arrangements throughout the house and on the cheese tables, adding a pop of color and creating a cohesive look.
We wanted to strike a balance between sophistication and effortless beauty, and the floral arrangements and decor we chose perfectly reflected that. The result was a stunning display that perfectly complemented the venue and created a romantic atmosphere for our special day.
The result was an elegant, romantic, and timeless wedding that perfectly captured our vision, thanks to our one-of-a-kind wedding planner, Fernanda that made it all possible.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The elegance, simplicity, and sophistication of our wedding were perfectly embodied in our stunning 3-layer cake, displayed on an exquisite silver platter from Gustavo’s family. Real flowers added tasteful accents to the cake, enhancing its visual appeal. The table itself was a work of art, adorned with lush greenery cascading gracefully on the sides and two resplendent silver antique candle holders, also heirlooms from Gustavo’s family.

As the sun set over the majestic mountains, the cake, table, and candle holders all came together in perfect harmony, leaving me awestruck.
Casa do Marques did the cake and Ion Rotaru decorated it with real flowers and lush greenery.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Our ceremony was held at the stunning Igreja de Nossa Senhora in Lisbon, which had a charming pink exterior reminiscent of traditional Lisboeta houses. Inside, the church was adorned with exquisite gold details that added to its beauty. The ceremony was conducted in Portuguese, but what made it truly special was when my 84-year-old grandmother, who had traveled all the way from the Dominican Republic, did the second reading in Spanish. It was a touching moment that I will always cherish.
We had a violinist play these songs for the key moments during the ceremony:

Groom & Mother of the Groom- Divertissement- Saint Preux
Bride & Father of the Bride- Thousand Years – Christina Perri
Bride & Groom Exit Church- Wildest Dreams – Taylor Swift
Reception – Music for Moments

Bride & Groom- First Dance (2 songs: One in Spanish and the other in Portuguese)
Chichi Peralta- Amor Narcótico
Alok- Meu Amor
Bride & Father of the Bride Dance: Juan Luis Guerra – Si Tu No Bailas Conmigo
Groom & Mother of the Groom: Frank Sinatra – Blue Moon
Bride & Groom Entering the Cocktail: Bomba Stereo- To My Love
Cake Cutting Moment & Speeches: Maldita Nerea- Un Planeta Llamado Nosotros[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Lourdes Desangles, the mother of the bride, played an integral role in the wedding party styling. She curated everything from selecting the fabric for the maid of honor’s dress to designing the flower girls and ring boys’ outfits in elegant Irish linen fabric and French lace. Lourdes also ensured that all the men in the family, including the bride’s brothers and both fathers, had ties that perfectly matched the wedding color palette. Additionally, Lourdes’ own dress was a stunning work of art with magnolia hand-painted flowers, designed by none other than herself.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]When Gustavo and Maria Clara locked eyes for the first time at Plaza de Cibeles in Madrid on Día de Los Reyes, it was the start of a modern romance that quickly turned into a Shakespearean love story. Their first date in El Retiro was full of ambitious plans and ended with a fun night out in Madrid with Maria Clara’s sister, Lourdes (Yuyi), and her friend, Elaine. But the odds were against them, as Maria Clara was from the Dominican Republic and living in Miami, while Gustavo was Portuguese and living between Dublin and Madrid.
Despite the distance and their busy schedules, Gustavo and Maria Clara’s connection only grew stronger. They became long-distance relationship survivors, with 4,154 miles between them, and pandemic beneficiaries who found themselves in some of the coolest cities in the world, including Lisbon, London, Madrid, Mexico City, Miami, and Porto.
Eventually, the couple decided to tie the knot in Lisbon, the city where they had spent the most time together. Their wedding was a celebration of their love and the journey they had been on together, from their first meeting in Madrid to their travels around the world. It was a testament to the power of love and how it can overcome any distance or obstacle.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The bride carried a delicate bouquet that featured a touch of blue, representing the “something blue” tradition. The bouquet was a combination of white and green-colored flowers with delicate blue accents, adding a subtle pop of color to the overall look.

For her “something borrowed,” the bride wore a stunning pair of diamond earrings that belonged to her mother. Her father had gifted the earrings to her mother on their 35th wedding anniversary, making them a sentimental and meaningful addition to the bride’s wedding day look.

As a “something new,” Gustavo (the groom) surprised the bride with a beautiful pearl and diamond necklace, which she wore on their wedding day. The necklace complemented her elegant bridal gown and added a touch of sparkle to her overall look.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Micaela knew she wanted to show off her amazing hourglass figure, but it was also important to have a touch of modesty. She went with a gown that fit the theme perfectly. She had stunning textured floral appliques that ran through the entire gown. Her soft off the shoulder tulle was the perfect modest to pull her dream wedding dress together. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]We knew each bridesmaid needed a dress that would fit their personality, figure and attitude. Micaela put together a spreadsheet of several different dress options from color to cut and texture. Each bridesmaid picked their perfect floor length gown from the many options our bride presented. [field title=”Food & Drink”]

Food and Drink was the most important element to our Father of the Bride. We spent hours tasting, planning, and designing the perfect 2-hour oyster festival cocktail time, and then 4-course meal for guests once they entered the tent.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Florals were also very high on the brides list of important details. We worked with a favorite DC florist, Bee Inspired, to bring different personalities to each table. Between candles, driftwood, blooms, and even more candles! Long farm tables were dressed with over 48 feet of floral garlands and hundreds of candles. Those two rows were flanked with square and round tables with even more candles and blooms.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Since every other element in the tent was swimming with color, texture and personality, we wanted the cake to stand alone by size. We worked with Charles Street Bakery to bring her cake to life, feeding almost 300 guests!

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The ceremony was one of the most important parts for our special couple. The bride is a teacher at a private school, with a heart and soul for Jesus Christ. They had 5 priests overseeing the ceremony.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Since the bride was born and raised in Southern Maryland, seafood was the heart and soul of the cocktail hour. She requested a two hour oyster festival, filled with a beer truck, hanging capicola- sliced on site, live music and almost 2000 oysters! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The reception took place in the brides childhood backyard. The same hedge wood maze where her family looked for Easter eggs is where 260 of their closest friends and family celebrated the happy couple. We brought in a 60×100 clear top tent with start-light strands. She wanted to dance under the stars to their favorite music, thanks to the Bachelor Boys,

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

The bride had her heart set on two different send-offs! One from the ceremony location, where guests threw hundreds of rose petals. The other had a lot more flair, literally! They had a sparkler grand exit and left the wedding reception in the Father of the Grooms baby blue, vintage Mustang.

Whimsical Spring Hues in Lowcountry

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]Touches of whimsy tie the early spring florals with garden ethereal blooms full of fresh sprigs that serve as center pieces for the intimate dining experience. Designed and planning by Carter Events Co, the selection of colors, florals, and design elements Brough together a perfect blend of a low country wedding. Along the shore of the low country property at River Oaks, the inspiration comes from the tones naturally surrounding the venue. Watercolor tones for the invitation set the scene of a perfect South Carolina gathering in honor of our couple. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Carolina blues set against the emerald greenery of watercolor hues from the invitation and natural settings, while the bouquet and arch are full of playful pinks, lilac, and creamy whites. [/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]River Oaks in Charleston, South Carolina is the perfect low country setting for this early spring inspired celebration. [/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Salt Stem Charleston curated a lovely sampling of fresh greens and white florals to grace the tablescape and add a touch of whimsy, texture, and playfulness to an elegant dining experience. The linens and scalloped edged plating were a beautiful tone of Carolina blue and creamy white. The invitation by Dragon Fly Paperie perfectly bought the color palette together, setting the perfect welcome for guests to the wedding celebrations and al fresco dining. [/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]Outdoor al fresco dining is often a rarity in low country where late afternoon and evening thunderstorms might drench guests in a heavy rainfall. The entire design for this intimate al fresco setting was my favorite element as it complimented the serenity of River Oaks. [/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]Observing the natural environment for a venue is key as well as noting the seasonality of your wedding celebrations to create an immersive experience that is set against a wonderfully juxtaposed backdrop. [/field]

Luxurious Palace Of Fine Arts Wedding Full Of Style

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

We used candles, white flowers, greenery, and crystal vases. We wanted to keep it clean, and eliminate any clutter or colors that took from the venues…we wished to enhance what was already there.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

We chose the Palace Of Fine Arts for our ceremony because Scott’s great, great grandfather was the architect. We knew we always wanted classic/formal.. and this was just the place! We chose for our wedding party to be in black and keep flowers white with greenery as it went nicely with the stone of the rotunda.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

I am obsessed with the holidays. The family time, the decorations, the trees! I love it all. Scott took me to NYC for a week as my boss kept telling me I needed to use my PTO. I had never seen the tree at Rockefeller or the light show at Saks 5th Avenue… and I am a planner, so we had an agenda while we were there. He canceled our dinner reservations the first night so we could get some Christmas spirit in at the beginning of our trip. As we wrapped around the light show to the tree, he got down on one knee… he had a photographer and had been chatting with my closest friends about the ring, and I was in the dark! I felt like I was in a movie, and for a guy who claims to hate planning… he KILLED it!

I had two gowns! I wanted classic and elegant for my ceremony gown. Marriage means a lot to me, and coming from a traditional family, I wanted something timeless. It had a high neck, long sleeves, and buttons down the train. For the party, I went for the other side of me. FULL glam with sparkly feathers to dance the night away.
