A Romantic Wedding Escape in the Greek Islands

There’s no denying that the Greek islands have a certain something special about them, but Corfu? Well, it’s at the tippy top of my list now, thanks to this wedding captured by Les Anagnou Photographers. With a romantic flair and pure natural beauty, it’s heaven on earth. See every picture perfect pic of this destination wedding in our Vault right this way!

From the Bride… Many consider their wedding day to be a new beginning; the start of a new story. We saw our day as an opportunity to share more about our past – share our traditions, our backgrounds, our values. This was reflected in our invitations, which had personalized postage stamps of our parents and grandparents on their wedding day, our ceremonial Stefania (Greek crowns) that were passed down from my parents, and the drinking cup from my husband’s family. Our goal was to walk into the new cherishing the old, because, after all it made us who we are. The Greek island of Corfu was the ideal location for us to do so– an emerald island on the Ionian, reminiscent of Venetian culture, giving an ode to my husband’s Italian background and allowing me to realize my dream of going back to the country I grew up in, to get married. Mediterranean cultures value family above everything else, something which was evident throughout the entire process. We shared with our families each step of the wedding process, irregardless the task. Whether the job involved making wax seals for each invitation or assembling gift bags and gluing a lavender flower to each name, we could always count on them. They were with us when we got ready, present when we became one, and walked down the streets of Corfu Town with us to commemorate our wedding.

Since we had a significant amount of people visiting from the United States and Europe it was important to us to share with them the beauty and charm of Corfu. We thought that the best way of doing so, was by giving them an opportunity to experience Corfu in the same way the locals did, a three day celebration. We started Friday with drinks at a café in Corfu town, which was followed by a ‘welcome dinner’ consisting of dancing, eating and drinking at a local taverna. On Sunday everyone came together again for brunch which was followed by a boat party. There was no better way to end our wedding than by sailing off into the beautiful Greek waters.

From Les Anagnou photographersThis wedding, that took place in the isle of Corfu, Greece, was a dynamic, full-blown romantic story in sweat pea colors and rich, nostalgic details, that recreates the long-established dazzle of 1930’s Italian aesthetics. The reductive portraits echo of fashion illustrator Carl Erickson, as upbeat and contemporary as he would be.

It Doesn’t Get Better Than This Florida Engagement Shoot

So much Florida goodness in one engagement shoot! Alisa Feris photographed these downright adorable college sweethearts in the groom’s picturesque hometown of Sarasota, Florida. From the pale pink arches of the The Ringling Museum to the white shores of Siesta Key Beach, we cannot get enough of the pretty location – or the sweet smiles of this couple! See it all in the gallery.

From Alisa Ferris PhotographyLynsey and Javier are the most darling college sweethearts – the kind that makes any photographer swoon. If they alone do not provide you with enough cuteness, then hold your breath for their French Bulldog, Dexter, donning a floral wreath. Furthermore, while most wedding-related activities focus on the bride, this couple tailored their engagement shoot to represent the groom!

From the Bride… In my second week as a freshman at the University of Central Florida, I attended a social for my new sorority. Little did I know that during my first college event, I would meet the man I would spend the rest of my life with. Fast forward six years, our relationship has taken us through some major life milestones – from college graduation to planning our perfect wedding, we have grown so much and are enthusiastic about what the future holds.

Because the wedding will take place in my hometown of Palm Beach, Florida, we wanted to capture our pre-wedded bliss in a place close to Javier’s heart. So we headed to his hometown of Sarasota, Florida, and picked some of our favorite locations. First stop: downtown Sarasota with our fur child, Dexter, where we went on one of our first dates. Next up was The Ringling Museum – a place that captures Sarasota’s history and beauty. And while it wasn’t originally planned, we spontaneously ended our shoot on Siesta Key Beach.

The fashion inspiration for our engagement shoot came directly from our wedding colors: ivory, earthy green, light blue, and pink, and the picturesque spots in The Ringling Museum of Sarasota are a mirror representation of our wedding day ceremony. We will be getting married on the terrace overlooking the lake at the PGA National Resort and have tailored the ceremony to try and include some of the same natural beauty the museum exhibits.

Crafting a Design Savvy Home While Staying Well Within Your Budget

There are few people in this world sweeter than Ashley Cooper. And when you couple all that sweetness with a killer sense of style and an insane amount of talent, well, it’s no surprise that her newest project is the stuff of magic. And it’s one near and dear to her heart. Peek inside her family home filled with color, personality and good vibes just like the art she creates. Plus, stay tuned for the second half and maybe our favorite, coming on Monday!

From Ashley…When we built our home last year I knew the vision I wanted for the final look, colors and finishes. I also knew that meant updating some of our current decor and furnishings to complement that style. I’m going to walk you through how I narrowed down my new decor style, shopped a variety of brands while keeping a budget in mind.

Entry

Hayneedle: Entry Table | Target: Lamp

Defining your design style can be hard if you’re like me and a lover of a variety of looks. I started by going crazy on Pinterest, pinning all of my favorite interior spaces. Very quickly I was able to determine my preferred style and colors. I wanted each room in our home to be a bit specific in theme, so I created individual room mood boards to help me visually see and keep with the desired final look for each space.

Living Room

Article: Leather Chairs | Bed Bath & Beyond: Curtain Rod, Pom Pom Pillow, Throw, Vase | Framebridge: Layfette Frame | Goodwood: Reclaimed Mantle | Hayneedle: Entry Table, Basket | Jonathan Adler: White Bowl, Gold Bowl | Joss and Main: Sofa, Rug, Coffee Table, Fireplace Screen | La Lueur: Candle | Lamps Plus: Floor Lamp | Mathis Brothers: Bar Cart | Select Blinds: Wooden Blinds | Tonic Living: Grey Throw, Pebble, Constance & Eldon Striped Pillows | Ashley Cooper Design: Artwork

Dining Room

Framebridge: Concord Frame | Hayneedle: Basket | Jonathan Adler: Gold Bowl | Mathis Brothers: Bar Cart | Rove Concepts: Dining Table | Select Blinds: Wooden Blinds | Ashley Cooper Design: Artwork

Kitchen

Alice Lane Home: Pizza Board | All-Clad: Stainless Set | La Lueur: Candle | Murchinson-Hume: Soap, Lotion, Tray Set, Cleaning Products

With my mood boards close I began searching online for the furnishings and accessories I wanted to update. With so many shopping sites to choose from it can be overwhelming, but if you have your look already defined it is easier to navigate. I searched a variety of brands, price points, and product options and focused only on the items that fit my new style.

I wanted to stick with a very specific budget for each space. I choose one invest piece per room that was my big ticket money item. I referenced my mood board constantly if I needed to scale down on a product’s price, while still achieve the same overall product look. Each room ended up being cozy and on point with how I had hoped it would come together.

A Wildly Romantic Wedding in the Arizona Desert

What began as a last-minute “plus one” to a wedding became a forever kind of love for Marian and Mark. And when they began planning their own big day, they knew showcasing the Arizona scenery was a top priority. A soft color palette and natural greens complemented the setting, and Rachel Solomon told the story of the day in stunning fashion.

From the bride… Mark and I met through my older brothers about 5 years ago, when he moved from the Bay Area to Arizona. We started dating about a year later when he needed a last minute plus-one to a friend’s wedding. My brothers thought that I might be able to suggest one of my friends as a suitable date, but I offered to go instead. I always thought Mark was fun, kind, and handsome – and there could be worse ways to spend a Saturday, right? We had an amazing time together, and the fun hasn’t stopped since then.

Mark proposed almost 3 years later, while we were hiking in beautiful Sedona, AZ. The love of the outdoors, especially the breathtaking Arizona scenery, has been a constant throughout our relationship, and it was the perfect spot to decide to spend the rest of our lives together.

As we began wedding planning, we knew that we wanted to showcase Arizona scenery – especially through the choice of venue. I think we knew the moment we stepped on the Casa Paloma lawn at El Chorro that we wanted to get married there. The venue features a stunning backdrop of Camelback Mountain and the property itself is simple, classic, rustic, and beautiful with wrap-around patios, fireplaces, and an open and airy event space.

The venue is stunning enough on its own, so we wanted the décor to be soft and natural with some rustic details. The florals from Sarah’s Garden featured natural bouquets and centerpieces in neutral whites, creams and blushes with pops of deeper pinks and peaches, surrounded by eucalyptus greenery. We also added some pops of color with rose quartz menus from Minted, paired with rosemary sprigs clipped from a friend’s garden that morning. The head table featured a long garland that complemented the greenery hung in the rafters of the event space.

Letters by Jennifer created stunning calligraphy for our custom signage, seating charts, and escort cards. We also featured some desert-inspired details in our cactus invitation suite, programs, and itineraries from Paperless Post and our custom logos from Snaptag Designs.

For my “something old” my mother created a ring bearer pillow and flower girl basket using lace from the bridesmaid’s dresses at her wedding. And my “something borrowed” was a turquoise bracelet that my grandfather gave to my aunt to wear on her wedding day.

We chose long, flowing, chiffon gowns in a pale blush from Dessy as the bridesmaids’ dresses. Paired with the silk ribbons from Frou Frou Chic, slightly moving in that day’s soft breeze, the bouquets were captured beautifully by Rachel Solomon Photography. Rachel and her team did an amazing job capturing all the moments and details from throughout the day.

And of course, the glue that held everything together was planning and coordination from Andrea Leslie and her team. We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our friends and family and the hard work from this amazing team of vendors that created the best day of our lives!

A French Garden Styled Shoot Infused With Tropical Vibes

Pink flamingoes at Winterthur Estate? You read that right. By using a colorful palette of oranges, yellows, and pinks, The Styled Bride and a team of local creatives transformed the estate’s picturesque french gardens into an elegant, tropical paradise. Bright florals by Alyssa Rainville and a fun, flamingo cake topper by Ann Wood Handmade look right at home next to the Lazaro, lace gown and vintage, velvet furniture. The rest? See it all captured by DOLA Photography in our Vault.

From DOLA PhotographyWhat better place to honor greenery, the 2017 Pantone color of the year, than a shoot at Winterthur? This beautiful wedding venue was the perfect backdrop for a tropical, french garden editorial. An estate in Delaware’s scenic Brandywine Valley, the ancestral home of Henry Francis duPont features a reflecting pool surrounded by lush greens which perfectly complemented the pink, cream, and gold tones in this shoot. A bright pop of yellow and orange in the florals created a fun, spring vibe.

Lizzie’s long sleeve Lazaro gown had an incredible floral, lace detail, and she looked like a queen wearing it with a Haute Bride headpiece. A classic black Vera Wang tuxedo on Ryan was a sophisticated choice for this upscale garden property. So regal! Rose gold rings from L. Priori Jewelry were a fresh pick over a more traditional yellow gold or platinum. Restaurant Associates created an inspiring and mouth watering dinner menu. They’re the exclusive caterer at Winterthur, and they definitely do it right! The blueberry crostata was yum! For dessert, a bold pink cake from Whipped Bakeshop was topped by the cutest pink flamingos by Ann Wood Handmade. The cake plate and serving set from BHLDN – our favorite wedding shop – was a must to complete the look. For the party, we opted for a whiskey bar and champagne tower. Party on!

A Classic Art Museum Wedding With the Chicest Sparkliest Dresses Ever

What happens when you combine an art museum in a fabulous college town, sparkly bridesmaids dresses and an adorable couple? You get this wedding right here, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Blaine Siesser captured all the pretty pieces, from these fantastic dresses to a stunner of a cake, courtesy of Sweet Heather Anne. See these and more in our Vault right this way!

From the Bride.. Sam and I fell in love in Ann Arbor and had many beautiful dates at the UMMA. We wanted to share our college town and the museum with our guests by creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that highlighted the special space. I was most excited to marry my best friend and to celebrate with all of our friends and family. We had worked very hard for several months on the planning and we couldn’t wait to share the day with our guests. The best part of the day though was seeing Sam at the end of the aisle. I could feel my heart bursting. My favorite photo is of Sam and I walking together out of the church. I find it to be such a lovely snapshot that captures our relationship so sweetly. He has his hand on my back in a beautiful, supportive way and you can see his ring so clearly. To me it symbolizes us walking into our new future together.

A Franklin, Tennessee Love Affair Set Al Fresco

If you’re in need of a little wedding eye candy, this lovely wedding planned by Big Events, Inc. AND this luscious bouquet, also designed by Big Events, Inc. will do just the trick. It’s the perfect way to kick off this Tennessee love affair set al fresco, and Rachel Moore photographed the fun from start to finish.

From event planner Molly Sohr of Big Events … The first time I met with Carli and Alex I knew we would have the best time planning their wedding day. Carli, having been in dozens of weddings in the past, knew exactly what she did and did not want. A HUGE elaborate wedding was the main item she did not want.

Early on in the process, Carli wanted the wedding to feel exactly like “them” as a couple. She wanted guests to experience a non-traditional, exciting, unique day that was just plain fun.

They chose Carnton Plantation via photos online and when they finally went out and saw the venue they knew they had made the right decision. Choosing a May date was the perfect time at Carnton because the garden was in full bloom. The goal vision of their day was for it to be laid back, incorporate their favorite items and keep it intimate.

Carli’s bouquet was by far my most favorite I have ever seen. I LOVED that she wasn’t afraid to use bright colors, we even used some of her peonies from her garden at home to give a personal touch. They wanted everything to be outside- and weather surely permitted, it was the most beautiful day of spring in 2016. For their reception layout they chose open seating at long farm tables topped with seeded eucalyptus garland with pops of color + lemons tucked in (Carli’s favorite color is yellow) all while dining on “brunch for dinner” concept (which included an omelet bar + mimosas!) under the Tennessee sky. After dinner the guests danced the night away to local jam band Magnolia Sons (Carli + Alex’s favorite band).

The entire day was unique to them, extremely fun and just perfect even down to the weather.

Your Style Guide to a Chic Tropical Wedding

You know Oliver Fly as one of our favorite Paris-based photographers, but today he’s bringing us an inspiration shoot set in exotic Bali, Indonesia. Thoughtfully pieced together by Bali Event Styling, this is a tropical affair done right, and we’re so ready to grab ourselves a coconut drink and dive right in.

From Bali Event Styling… Khayangan Estate is Bali’s — if not Asia’s — quintessential destination wedding venue. Every inch of the property, from the moment one enters through its imposing teak wood gates, evokes an authentic aura of timeless elegance, an otherworldly environment that caters to modern day fantasies.

Our approach to the shoot was fine art with tropical accents melding soft pastels with a mixture of import and local florals and greeneries, stylish natural wood decor – Balinese arch and Louis chairs — with a spritz of gold cutlery, gilded tea lights, and crystal glassware for elegant effect.

Our wear florals featured Peonia, Astilbe, Astrantia, Eucalyptus populus. Eucalyptus nicolii, Bouvardia and Hellebores. The tablescape consisted of the same with additional Eustoma, Rose. and Frangipani, the latter lending a Balinese hint. The Table was layered with a light gray linen table cloth, two-toned silk runners, accented by silk ribbons and soft pink linen napkins.

We positioned Elephant ear leaves, coconuts, and vines at the entrance of the aisles. For the flower shower, we used Frangipani inside a woven basket made from coconut leaves. The natural wood wedding arch with Balinese carvings featured a floral mix of Anemones, Smilax, Astrantia, Ammimajus, Israeli cuscus and Salix.

Last but not least, we created welcome drinks using kelapa muda (young coconuts) with Frangipani flower, leafs, and sporting all natural bamboo straws.

From Mango StudiosHands down, this classy Casa Loma wedding was one of the highlights of the summer. I loved working with Christina and Michael and meeting their (extensive) Italian family! Everyone was so friendly and warm – they managed to make me feel like I was their childhood friend right away! Looking back at it, I’m starting to think that this is exactly why I love being a wedding photographer. It opens up lives and lets you connect with various people, not only in your own neighborhood or hometown, but also with a lot of families and couples from all over the world! I’ve been photographing weddings for more than 10 years now, and I believe that being able to get to know so many wonderful people and tell their story in pictures is what has kept me fascinated with this industry for such a long time.

Christina and Michael met 10 years ago in Montreal, one of the most romantic cities in Canada. Michael’s friend made a last-minute suggestion to visit the city. Since his university was on strike that week, Michael decided to give the trip a try. There they met up with Christina and her best friend, who happened to be Michael’s friend’s girlfriend. Christina and Michael fell for each other almost instantly and have been together ever since. Isn’t it such a sweet story?

Weddings are a family affair, and it clearly felt like it as we started the day at Christina’s family home – the whole atmosphere was filled with joy and happiness! Christina looked super chic in her Zuhair Murad wedding gown, and I loved how the family pup was also wearing a formal bow tie. It was raining that whole week, but the rain didn’t stop us from taking their outdoor creative portraits in Casa Loma’s beautiful garden. The gloomy weather even played out well, as the overcast sky let us shoot in the most unexpected-yet-scenic Casa Loma corners, which would’ve been impossible otherwise! Something Different Events worked their magic and turned the castle’s pavilion into a stunning reception featuring crystal chandeliers and loose florals from D&D Floral.

Christina and Michael, thank you so much for making me feel at home and being the sweet couple you are! I wish you all the best and can’t wait to photograph more of life’s special moments with you.

Escaping the Hustle and Bustle of NYC for a Gorgeous Garden Affair

This Bride and Groom sought a change of pace from the busy streets of New York City and found just that in the sprawling garden estate of Caramoor. The lush surroundings and classic tented reception made for the perfect spot to host their big day. It’s as classic as can be and made perfect at the hands of The Wedding Library, with florals by Elegant Effects and the prettiest of images by Charlotte Jenks Lewis. See the full day right here!

From the bride… When Edward and I envisioned our wedding, we imagined a quiet indoor/outdoor setting away from the normal hustle and bustle of New York City. We started exploring venues in the nearby Westchester County suburbs, and quickly settled on Caramoor as our venue of choice. With its sprawling gardens and 250-person tent, Caramoor matched the setting we’d been seeking. The tent offered cover and shade, while the surrounding outdoor space allowed our guests to explore the peaceful countryside setting. We wanted our event to feel like an extension of the gardens around us, and our team at the Wedding Library and Elegant Effects did a great job bringing that concept to life. Throughout our wedding festivities, we sought to celebrate my Filipino heritage. We hosted an engagement party in Manila, the men wore traditional barongs during the rehearsal, the material and patterning of our tablecloths paid tribute to traditional pineapple-fiber fabrics used at formal Filipino events, and my gown was made by Filipina designer Monique Lhullier,

I can’t stress enough how amazing our vendors were throughout the planning process and during the big day itself! The Wedding Library diligently maintained our vision while ensuring the day’s plans went off without a hitch. In addition to making me and my bridesmaids feel and look beautiful, the women at Beautini helped set a relaxed tone for the day. The staff at Caramoor and the caterer, Great Performances, did everything they could to keep us happy (and well fed — serving us one of every delicious hors d’oeuvre before joining our guests!). Rob and Soulsystem kept our guests entertained had us dancing throughout the night. Charlotte captured our day so beautifully and put me at ease whenever I felt self-conscious in front of the camera. We were very fortunate to have such excellent vendors, and I would advise any future bride to choose hers carefully. They can have a substantial behind-the-scenes impact on wedding day, and ours allowed Edward and I to focus on what truly mattered — celebrating our love and enjoying the company of our friends and family!
