Lake Tahoe Is a Picture Perfect Backdrop for a Black Tie Wedding

Combine classic style with an amazing, lakeside venue for one effortlessly beautiful wedding captured by Clane Gessel Photography. For the tented reception, the Bride chose to decorate with deep greens and whites, highlighting the natural beauty of the private estate. But our absolute favorite detail is the ceremony arch, which was covered in lush greenery and pretty white florals, framing the picturesque Lake Tahoe in the background.

From Clane Gessel PhotographyA twist on black tie, this traditional wedding took place in South Lake Tahoe at a private estate. The Bride chose neutral colors and lots of greenery to showcase the amazing outdoor venue. The Bridesmaids were all dressed in black, and the mother of the bride in green. The groom and groomsmen were dressed sharp, in black and white tuxes with delicate paisley gray ties.

The ceremony took place looking over beautiful Lake Tahoe under a stunning flower arch. The reception took place just outside the private estate, which was lightly decorated with elegant, white linens, gold rimmed glasses, greenery on every table, and big white centerpieces to top it all off. This brought a very elegant, clean touch of beauty to this lakeside wedding.

The couple met in high school and have stuck by each other’s side since day one. A mutual friend introduced them after Talia commented on Brock being pretty cute. The proposal was very intimate, just between the two of them in their living room on their eighth anniversary.

The Cutest Picnic-Style Wedding We’ve Ever Seen

Shannon and Tom currently call Brooklyn home but knew they wanted to escape the city for their Big Day. They opted for a casual, picnic-style celebration, and a working farm outside of Nashville was the perfect spot for them. Filled with bright and cheery florals, they brought a touch of whimsy to their rustic setting and Cassidy Carson didn’t miss a beat.

From Modern Vintage… Shannon and Tom are a sweet, sweet couple who live in Brooklyn but were getting married in Nashville. Shannon and Tom truly respect one another and really took into consideration each other’s opinions during the planning process. They laugh a lot and love each other deeply. Shannon and Tom’s venue is a working farm with a lot of gorgeous landscape and character.

They wanted to throw a party that was laid-back and fun with a lot of colors and a lot of dancing! Shannon and Tom know exactly what they like and truly wanted their guests, many of which were traveling from out of town, to have a great experience and a great time. The food and beverage were really important to them so they put an emphasis on a fun menu and local beverages. They had a welcome party the night all the guests arrived and transported them to and from the wedding ceremony and reception the next day.

When it came to the design Shannon and Tom wanted something with a really colorful with a fun, indie-vintage and eclectic feel. They both have great style and great taste so picking out elements for the wedding was really fun. It was a fun departure from the muted colors we see frequently. They had a wide range of colors from yellow to green to pops of pink with bright red being the main emphasis. Shannon’s bridesmaid’s dresses were fun, with one being red and the other having a great floral print. For the ceremony, we utilized the venue’s wood arbor and brought in really fun vintage rugs then paired them with whimsical and bright flowers. They had a bluegrass string band perform the ceremony music. Tom was all smiles as he went down the aisle as was Shannon who was escorted by her mom and her dad. Her stepfather married them in a truly heartfelt and funny ceremony. Did I mention that their music choices were pretty amazing as well? They had songs from The Darkness to The Beatles and Hall and Oates.

We played on the rustic (but air conditioned) barn where their reception was held and paired neutral linens with red and white checked napkins and bright pops of colors from flowers in milk glass vases. We worked closely with Shannon and Tom and the florist to bring in the perfect flowers including amazing red anemones. The dance floor was lit by drop Edison bulbs (I personally can’t get enough of those) and a local indie station DJ kept the dance floor going! The reception had a local menu with food cooked on site, a pie bar, ice cream from Jeni’s ice cream truck and lots of dancing! They had so many thought out, meaningful details from their Instax photo guestbook to their Quinn’s popcorn favors but more importantly, there were so many moments with family and friends who were there to celebrate Shannon and Tom.

Hawaii Wedding With Pretty Island Style

I’m just going to come right out and say it – sometimes tropical weddings can be a bit cheesy. But this one photographed by Christine Clark is anything but. Designed with an effortless elegance that touched every detail, including fresh greens for a natural vibe, this Big Island affair embraces Hawaiian style in the prettiest way and we can’t get enough.

From Christine Clark Photography… Set at Puakea Ranch on the Big Island of Hawaii, Vai and Greg’s wedding was the epitome of delicate island style. The reception setup, brilliantly designed by Bliss in Bloom, featured hanging greens against old, polished wood, all accented with subtle pops of tropical florals. It was the perfect blend of elements and tones. The ceremony took place under the shade of a great, spreading tree outside of the ranch house, with touches of tropical greens lining the aisle.

Vai was a vision of loveliness in Catherine Dean, proving the timeless refrain that simplicity is the greatest elegance. Greg clearly agreed as he couldn’t take his eyes off of her all day! I love it when the groom is spilling over himself with pride for his bride, and Greg was beaming nonstop.

For our portraits, we were visited by a pair of beautiful white horses that could not have been more perfect. Vai seemed to channel a real world Snow White as the animal lover in her shone through. I half expected a bird to sweep down and land on her shoulder! The whole day was filled with grace and warmth, with an elegant tropical touch to pull together the beauty of the day.

A Fun-Filled Winter Wedding in Charleston

This Bride and Groom sure know how to throw a good party! At their winter, Charleston wedding, guests were treated to a firepit and s’mores, a glam station, a late-night chicken wing station, and Taylor Swift face cut-outs to rock on the dance floor! As if that wasn’t fun enough, Bridesmaids got ready wearing matching striped onesies and the Ring Bearer rode down the aisle in a miniature electric car. There are even more surprises at this wedding, captured by Virgil Bunao Photography. See them in the Vault!

From Virgil Bunao PhotographyAllison and Casey got married at Boone Hall Plantation in January. Although it was one of the coldest days of the year, they had a fire pit and s’mores to warm guests up! The Cotton Dock was draped in dreamy lace fabric that they found from London. The room was filled with blue hues, and the floral had touches of cotton throughout. The bride loved Taylor Swift, so they had cutouts of her face for fun on the dance floor for guests! The bride surprised the groom with a late night chicken wing station from Wild Wings! Other fun components include a girls glam station in the bathroom, the bride and groom buried the bourbon, and the ring bearer rode down the aisle in an electric car.

A Celebration of Life + Health at This Glam NYC Nuptial

This Bride and Groom had something extra special to celebrate at their prohibition-era New York City inspired wedding – the Bride had recently received a clean bill of health! After she had been diagnosed with a rare auto immune disorder, these two grew even closer together as they fought for her recovery and for their future life together. Their wedding is as beautiful as their story, thanks to the amazing work of Curtain Up Events, SB BeautyAnthony Brownie Flowers + Events, and so many other amazing vendors, and you can see the whole celebration through the lens of Karen Hill Photography.

From the Bride… Cooper and I met and fell in love immediately. We got engaged at age 24 within a year of meeting. There has never been a clearer decision in either of our lives. But two months later, I went to the doctor for what we would later discover was auto immune encephalitis. My immune system was attacking my brain, at first causing mood swings of anger and crying, and eventually causing loss of speech ability, loss of motor control, and seizures. Cooper defended me to doctors who thought I was being hysterical, and he acted as my interpreter when I could no longer express myself. Even when doctors didn’t know how to diagnose me and said they couldn’t help us, Cooper never lost faith that we could make me better. He gave me the strength to go on when my brain was armed against me.

After landing in the hospital in front of the right doctors (thanks to Cooper’s mom reading a book, “Brain on Fire,” about a woman who went through the same thing), the same doctors in the book diagnosed me and started me on treatment. I was injected with other people’s immune systems, intravenous immunoglobulin. A science miracle was worked, and now I’m 100% healthy.

Cooper and I know each other so much more deeply and could not wait to get married. We are so thrilled and grateful! Our wedding was held at 632 on Hudson, an extraordinary venue! Following the ceremony was an extended cocktail hour. We wanted our wedding to be timeless, organic, playful in moments, and always full of love and joy. Our colors were midnight blue and gold, inspired by a portrait on the atrium ceiling. Our bridesmaids wore earthy metallics and blush. Our flowers were burgundy, red, blush, and green. We went for a loose prohibition era, New York vibe!

A Wedding Planner’s Advice On Where To Splurge + Save

As a wedding and event planner, I work within my client’s budgets every day. Whether they have an unlimited budget or are looking for more budget-friendly options, there are some of the areas I tell them to consider investing in, as well as areas where they can save money without sacrificing quality. Here’s my advice for six places you can splurge and save when planning your wedding.

WHERE TO SPLURGE
Wedding Day Photographer. This is arguably the most important item in your wedding budget. You’re going to show these photos to your grandchildren one day so you want to make sure you get a quality product. Ask your venue or wedding planner for recommendations and check out the photographer’s website to make sure their portfolio is a good fit with your style and venue location. You’ll also be spending a lot of time together on your wedding day so I recommend meeting in person before hiring them.

Lighting.
This always catches my clients off guard. As a bride, it caught me off guard too. Whether you are having an outdoor garden wedding or getting married in a hotel ballroom, lighting is so important. It can completely transform the look and feel of the venue and greatly impact the quality of your photos. You don’t want to be disappointed with the end result from your photographer because you skimped on lighting.

Wedding Planner
. You know that saying “You have as many hours in a day as Beyonce”? Yeah, well, Beyonce has help. She has assistants, a nanny and probably a personal chef. Leave the details of your wedding to a professional whose job is to make your life easier. If you’re on a tight budget, many planners offer partial planning services or even hourly rates for wedding day assistance.

Catering
. The food is one of the first things guests experience and can set the tone for your wedding. You don’t need a five-course meal to make an impact, either. Maybe there’s a restaurant in your hometown that is special to your family and is available to cater your event. Just make sure there is enough food, that it’s served at the right temperature, that there are choices for guests with dietary restrictions and that you hire waitstaff and bartenders if your venue doesn’t provide them.

WHERE TO SAVE

Save the Dates. Thanks to websites like Minted and Shutterfly, the options for your save the dates are endless! Add gold foil or choose a heavier paperweight to make it feel more custom. Add a picture from your engagement session to make it personal. Many of these retailers offer promotions like free recipient addressing or free shipping if you sign up for their emails.

Engagement Photographer
. Since you’ll be investing in your wedding day photographer, there are other ways to save on your overall photography budget. If you live in a different state than where you’re getting married, hire a local photographer to do your engagement pictures instead of paying your wedding day photographer’s travel costs for this session. Engagement pictures are also a great time to call on a friend or family member who loves photography as a hobby but doesn’t do it full time. They’ll probably charge you less, if at all, and it will be a fun afternoon for everyone.

Unique Desserts
. I am getting more and more requests for non-traditional wedding cakes. From donut bars from your local donut shop to a collection of smaller cakes or even cupcakes, this is a great place to save without sacrificing quality.

The good news is the wedding industry has really evolved over the last few years. With more venues popping up and more vendors opening up shop, there are great options at every price point that will allow you to have the wedding you’ve always dreamt of, even on a budget.

Pippa Middleton’s Honeymoon is More Lavish Than You Could Possibly Imagine

She may not be royalty, but Pippa Middleton’s honeymoon with new hubs James Matthews is definitely royal-worthy. Why, you ask? Well, the new Mr. and Mrs. Matthews are reportedly going on not one, but two, honeymoons.

According to sources, the Pippa and James will spend the first leg of their honeymoon on the Pacific island of Tetiaroa, an island once owned by Marlon Brandon and now known as The Brando. With 35 thatched villas, each with their own outdoor bath and infinity pool, this eco-friendly luxury resort is basically paradise. Just ask the Obamas or the other celebs (hey, Bey + Jay) and royalties who’ve vacationed there.

A post shared by The Brando (@thebrandoresort) on

But, that’s just the first stop. After their romantic week on the island, the newlyweds will head back to the U.K. to the Scottish Highlands, where the groom’s family owns an estate. “Pippa was very heavily involved in the organization of the big day, and they’ve decided on two very different honeymoon breaks—first to a stunning island out in French Polynesia but then to Scotland because it’s a special place for both of them,” a friend told The Sun.

Get the Look: Pippa Middleton’s Gorgeous Giles Deacon Wedding Dress

If Kate Middleton’s Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown was the dress that launched lace sleeves around the world, then Pippa Middleton’s Giles Deacon masterpiece will be the dress that launches modest mock-neck necklines for brides everywhere. The high-neck, cap-sleeve, full skirt and all-over lace bring gave off major Grace Kelly vibes, but the keyhole back added a touch of modernity and sexiness we associate with the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister. Want to copy the new Mrs. Matthews’ timeless style? We’ve got 26 gorgeous gowns that will do the trick!

A Ceremony Atop a Helipad With 360-Degree Views

I’m already predicting that Alex and Amanda’s Montana wedding will go down in SMP history. Not only because they exchanged vows on a helipad surrounded by mountain scenery, but because every perfect image by the O’Malley Photographers is a testament to the incredible vendors behind it. Habitat Events, TEAM Hair & Makeup, and so many wedding pros worked their creative magic and I can all but guarantee this gallery will be your new forever favorite.

From the O’Malley PhotographersThe bride and groom, Alex and Amanda, live in New York, but Amanda grew up frequently visiting Montana and her parents’ home in The Yellowstone Club. The Yellowstone Club is a private ski and golf community and having spent so much time in the gorgeous Montana landscape, it was an easy decision to host a destination wedding at the club.

Guests flew in from all over to take part in the week-long celebration that included fly fishing, rafting trips, pool parties and of course watching Alex and Amanda tie the knot at the end of the week!

This sweet bride and groom said “I do” on top of a helipad with 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. The wedding day design could be described as understated, refined, and clean with white, creams, blush and hints of black and deep navy.

A Milwaukee Courthouse Wedding Built for Two

After their Milwaukee Courthouse nuptials, this darling duo hopped on a vintage moped “getaway car,” dashing off to their at-home reception. They dreamed up a private dinner party to celebrate, incorporating their favorite his and hers Old Fashioned cocktails, a petite cake bedecked in ferns, and heirloom china from the bride’s grandmother. Heather Cook Elliott Photography captured this cozy and intimate, fall celebration – you can see it all right here in our Vault.

From Heather Cook Elliott Photography
… My studio photographer and real bride, Sara, got married in a BHLDN gown with amazing florals at the Milwaukee County Courthouse. We dreamed up an ideal at home, luxe dinner cocktail party to celebrate! If you have the guts to not only do a courthouse wedding like Sara, but to also host your own intimate, at-home reception with just your best man and maid of honor, you can splurge on all things beautiful while finally getting to use your family heirlooms.

For old world boho and antiquarian-at-heart Sara, it means dining on her grandmother’s china, using vintage silver, and making his and hers, handcrafted old fashioneds (a Wisconsin favorite!) in crystal highball glasses. It means splurging on Luxardo cherries and asking your florist to create a “cake” from ferns and other botanical blooms. It means having your beloved cat present and decked out in a laurel wreath because that’s your baby. It means decorating your vintage moped and transforming your dining room into a dream reception locale.

A Stylish, Modern Approach to Thai Wedding Traditions

Held on a stunning rooftop in Bangkok, this modern celebration took an unique approach to the traditional Thai wedding. With the help of The Wedding Bliss Thailand, the couple infused their personal, minimalist aesthetic into all aspects of the wedding ceremony, from the customary Khan Mak procession to the water blessing. Darinimages expertly photographed every stylish detail – including the bride’s jaw-dropping, architectural gown. This gallery is one that cannot be missed!

From The Wedding Bliss ThailandElegance is always in style. There might changes in fashion, color trends, or innovative ideas, but elegance is truly timeless, making our hearts beat faster and our eyes smile. This especially applies to a wedding. It’s easy to lose your voice in the overflow of inspiration we often find nowadays: Pinterest, Instagram, and more! The questions you should always ask yourself are these: “What resonates most with me? What is my passion in life? Who are we as a couple?”

Pim and Name live in Bangkok, and it is traditional for Thai people to have a large Thai engagement and wedding blessing ceremony. Normally this includes many traditions – the Khan Mak procession symbolizing engagement, retrieving the bride, asking permission from parents and their blessing, a ring exchange, and a water blessing ceremony. Like everyone else in Thailand, Pim and Name highly respect these traditions, yet they wanted to make sure that their wedding day was a stylish and modern reflection of their personal aesthetic – minimal and elegant.

The choice of venue was not hard; Bangkok is a city of rooftops, and Hotel Once’s made a beautiful setting for the ceremony. The design of the hotel set the tone for the overall monochromatic look of the wedding. We added gold and smoky pink accents through the lighting and design details. We absolutely loved everything about this wedding, from the couple’s perfect sense of style to their amazing guests!

From DarinimagesI loved absolutely everything about Pim and Name’s wedding. From the moment Name contacted us to capture his surprise proposal on the island until the very last beat on the dance floor on the wedding night, there was so much love and warmth around! I laughed until I cried and then laughed again at the party. I felt privileged to capture their special day and enjoyed every minute being there.

Capturing the Magic of Cinque Terre at Sunrise

All it takes is a sweet couple and sunrise images at the hands of Darya Kamalova and I am searching tickets to Cinque Terre. Take a mini tour of this Mediterranean gem and the cutest Mr. and Mrs. that are celebrating 10 years of marriage.

From Darya Kamalova of Thecablookfotolab… It is a Cinqueterre anniversary session shot on sunrise. The couple was celebrating their 10 years from their wedding. They are magical person and the love that I saw between them even after 10 years of marriage and 2 children is insane) I’m sure you can feel it through the pictures too! I did an accent on the nature and on the feelings, on how they look at each other, on how they touch each other. Brie Mode to Baby Mode: Brie Bella’s Stunning Bohemian Baby Shower

It was a long road for wrestling royal couple Brie Bella and Bryan Danielson to become parents, and we could not be happier for them! In honor of their new little girl, Birdie Joe (how sweet of a name is that?!), we are sharing Brie’s intimate boho chic baby shower designed by Tremaine Ranch. As self-proclaimed locavores and true environmentalists, it’s no surprise that Brie chose an eco-friendly vibe for the bash. With everything from a to-die-for cake and a floral crown for the books to some seriously adorable moments with twin sister, Nikki, and their French Bulldogs courtesy of Kate Nelle Photography, get your Pinterests ready ladies!

[iframe http://www.youtube.com/embed/iTE98na10YE 600 338]

When we first met with Brie to chat about her vision and ideal setting for her shower, we knew it was going to be fun for everyone involved. Brie is strong, empowering and so kind. She loves nature, she loves animals, and most importantly she loves her family. Her sister, Nikki, helped put the entire vision of this event together, in partnership with Leah Theodosis of Tremaine Ranch. Brie’s style is so easily represented in her life, we wanted that to come across through a very soft, sweet, yet bohemian and carefree aesthetic. With the rental inventory from Tremaine Ranch, we knew this was a perfect partnership to bring that boho & rustic theme to life. We added a mixture of different peacock chairs, garden chairs, a comfortable lounge with equipale furniture and rugs, to make our outside setting as comfortable and cozy as possible. We added personal touches that you see throughout showers such as ‘wishes for baby’ cards, a Polaroid guest book station, but wanted to add unique items such as a ‘create a block’ station, a tea bar from Teaspressa and custom branded candles from Standard Wax. Did we mention that the custom candles were the baby name announcement? This may be our new favorite idea. We love the floral design element used on all paper product, but mostly love this on the candle! Sift Bakehouse AZ used the floral graphic for inspiration while designing the cake. You can see a beautiful hand painted floral design on the top tier that is beautifully done! The show stopper of the entire event was the gorgeous floral from Noir Floral! The soft blush tones paired with vintage medicine bottles and flower boxes really brought so much more to our fun outdoor rustic boho baby shower for Brie. Our favorite part of the entire shower, was when Brie’s husband, Bryan, showed up with their two dogs! The dogs had the cutest floral garland collars around their necks. You could see how happy the mother to be was when she saw her family walk in. We had an absolute blast planning this event with Nikki and are so thrilled to share these images with Style Me Pretty! We are so insanely excited for Brie and her husband, Bryan, to welcome their baby girl Birdie Joe Danielson next month. You’ll be able to see more from this beautiful baby shower on their show, Total Bellas, later this year!
