The First 10 Things to Check Off Your ‘I Do’ To-Do List When You’re Newly Engaged

Getting engaged is a more-than exciting time! You’ve got a beautiful new rock on THAT finger (diamond, emerald, sapphire, whatever that gemstone is, it’s gorgeous!!), a new pep in your step – it’s called bride-stride and it’s with you now until your wedding day, and a new glow about you that’s got everyone saying “oh yeah, that’s a bride right there”… and guess what? It’s a glorious thing, especially after the year we’ve all been having! That being said, once your bar cart starts running low on champagne and you realize your sparkler needs its first shine, it might dawn on you that it’s time to start getting serious about wedding planning! It can be stressful, sure, but that’s why best friend advice is only a text away and big girl diaries exist in the form of adorable adult journals. You can also use that stride of yours to head online and check out some fabulous Style Me Pretty best-for-a-bride buys. Guaranteed to get that wedding planning game of yours in high gear. It’s not always easy being a bride, but it doesn’t have to be hard, especially if you can lean into it with cute, helpful things that celebrate your single-no-more status!

Every pair of newly-planning partners has a preferred way to jump into planning, but we can certainly vouch for this way to get ready for the vows:

Get organized.
Once the dust has settled and you’ve stepped firmly into your new role as bride (or groom), it’s time to go all in on the planning front. We’re big believers in beginning the bridal journey with a binder – many of us even go back to our own planning binders from way back when, even just to remind ourselves that an organized altar-ego did exist at one time. And we’re not shy about bragging about ours… Our bliss-ensuring blush bridal planner kit comes with a TON of checklists, timelines, and worksheets to help brides stay buttoned up with all their I Do to-dos. We’ve made sure to include everything that couples need to get hitched without a hitch, with enough room for notes that might even make meaningful keepsakes for future brides.

Want some extra points to start? Instead of going into your planning process blindly, fill your binder with our brand-new Ultimate Wedding Guide Collection. We’ve enlisted the help of our amazing community of Little Black Book vendors to create these educational, step-by-step guides to walk you through every moment of your wedding journey.

Each guide was specifically designed to take the guesswork out for you, equipping you with the knowledge and inspiration you’ll need to truly plan your dream wedding like a pro. Just consider our guides your perfect planning companions – here to provide you with support and guidance as you navigate this unique, complicated, yet incredibly beautiful time. From deciding on your ‘I Do’ dream team to choosing your venue, hunting for your dream dress to figuring out your floral look, all the important know-how can be found here!

Update your cheering squad.
We get it, given how unpredictable 2020 has been, it’s been easier that it’s ever been before just to share things on social media and hope that news will travel to all your important parties thereafter. But keeping your VIPs (parents, siblings, close family, and best friends) up-to-date with your wedding developments as they occur is a really nice gesture and courtesy.  Your tribe will be along for the [engagement] ride, so they’ll want to feel included in all the big things leading up to the big day. Zoom calls and/or FaceTimes work perfectly for pinging your special people when you’ve picked a date or landed on the place, tried on THE dress or scouted out an equally fitting save the date!

Take a ring selfie.
Now granted, a proper ring selfie, post-proposal, usually signals the start of your engagement, but with everything going on in our world these days, it wouldn’t be surprising for a ring selfie to get pushed to the ‘eh, this feels a little too me-me-me, doesn’t it?’ backburner. Self promotion on the Gram just doesn’t hit the same way when a global pandemic is still part of our reality. That being said, even if you don’t feel comfortable posting anything on Insta at present, you can still take a ring selfie and keep the pictures in your  phone to look at and be reminded that ‘Yes, you’re SO engaged.” Whether it’s a photo of the two of you together (in all of your quaranteam glory) or something more lowkey like a silhouette of your ring box just showing off the glowing goods, don’t downplay the excitement you’re feeling – celebrate and cherish it in a way that feels right to you.

Ask your ‘maids!
Undoubtedly one of the most fun parts about the wedding planning process – it’s finally time to ask your best girls to be your bridesmaids! Before you start feeling overwhelmed by all the different ways you can go about popping the question – we’ve got plenty of bridesmaid gift ideas for you! How adorable are our bridesmaid headbands, “be my bridesmaid” cards and bridesmaid mugs? No matter what you surprise them with (and how you do it, be it with a drive-by drop off or a present-prompted virtual hang), we can guarantee they’re going to be so incredibly honored to stand by your side while you say “I do” to the love of your life!

Hit those follow buttons & create a Pinterest board!
This is probably one of our favorite parts of the early planning process – the Instagram follow frenzy – and luckily it can all be done from the comfort of your own home! You’re going to want inspiration in many forms, and staring at pictures of infinitely-pretty wedding things is a pretty great place to start. Explore different I-do-related hashtags, find a vendor that you’re mesmerized by and then hit follow on those “suggested for you,” or get familiar with much-loved wedding feeds like Style Me Pretty to see what’s currently trending in the space. If you plan on curating a lot for your big day, too, then take a peek at our Collection of details and accessories that bring that ‘as loved on Style Me Pretty’ vibe to your bridal suite, aisle runner, altar and ceremony setup, reception tablescapes, and more. And don’t forget to store all your fave inspo in a Pinterest board solely dedicated to all things wedding planning!

Plan your engagement party!
Whether it’s a Zoom celebration, a socially distanced drive-by or you’re waiting until the current craziness lifts… one of the best ways to remind yourself what all this wedding planning is about is having the most fun ever at your engagement party  – celebrating your newly engaged status with your nearest and dearest! Even if that just means getting together with your MOH and MOB to sip champagne, gossip, and throw on some party pieces that feel particularly festive. It doesn’t have to be a party with tons of people, it can be intimate and still have you feeling like the guest(s) of honor that you are!

Stay energized.
And while we’re at it… if you’re vignetting your home office (that WFH life is the new normal with no end date in sight), you’ve got to have a cup runneth over with caffeine nearby – are we right?! We love something like our Sipping Pretty mug, which doesn’t outright say “BRIDE,” but still has a bridal vibe to it. It’s blush, the aesthetic is on-point, and it stands OUT for drinkware in the kitchen. Wedding planning requires vigilance, sharp-mindedness, and a marathon ability – for all of the things that need to get done, researched, paid for, etc. – so, if it isn’t already, #butfirstcoffee is about to become your 24/7 mantra and there’s only one soon-to-be-Mrs. who should be sipping out of this beauty…

Show off.
… Even if it’s just to impress yourself or your Zoom dates! You’re the bride, remember? It’s okay if you want to peacock it out while you’re in the planning stages. And by this, we mean getting into the part of the bride. Decorate your coffee table with some aisle-inspired hardcovers, like Abby’s Style Me Pretty Weddings book, rip out and post up your own glossy gown gallery in your closet (this feels so behind-the-curtain at fashion week to us!), and if you’re not having an engagement party, maybe do the next best thing and have some of your favorite engagement photos printed out and displayed throughout your home and strung up with pretty garland

Prioritize your health.
Along with leveling up your energy throughout your engagement, you’ll also want to do your best to stay healthy. Engagement season coinciding with the winter/holiday season is sweet, but a new ring and the flu aren’t exactly the best combo (and COVID is still evermore a concern). Hydration is key, but make it fashion with a tumbler that says it all. We love the confetti and the gold calligraphed “Bride,” not to mention, just seeing that word on the regular is enough to incite smiles and consequent wellness (a happy bride is a healthy bride, after all). Be sure to keep it close by, even on your wedding morning, before your bridesmaids make you swap out water for some more spirited sips.

Get those ZzZzs.
Nightmares can happen when you’re in the thick of planning (yikes, we’re getting a little cringey just talking about it), but good dreams are even more delightful when you’re a bride. So, commit to those eight hours and you’ll find you’re in a much more restful position to get the details of the day done. If that means a comfier pillow, softer, more swaddle-worthy sheets, and a mood app to mellow out your mind before closing your eyes, then do it! In fact, take it one step further with a soft sleep mask from Style Me Pretty. Those eyelashes are just too cute!

Granted, there’s so much to do when you’re planning a wedding, but it will all get done (fingers crossed!). Prettily, too, if you plan with us – shop the Style Me Pretty Collection on site right now!

Get Lost In All Of The Elegant, Old World Charm At Castello di Celsa, A Castle in Tuscany!

Oh to get married at a castle in Tuscany…well, Tuscan Tours and Weddings is here to show you exactly how at Castello de Celsa with all of the Old World charm, romance and views one could ask for! Alexandra Vonk captured one epic photo after the next from images of the brides ethereal Daalarna wedding gown to florals by Corcortez and of course a vintage getaway car from Slow Hills. Take a peek below and be sure to check out the video by Katia Casprini!

From Alexandra VonkThis editorial shoot at Castello di Celsa in Tuscany is elegant, romantic and breathtaking with this ancient castle in the background.

Castello di Celsa, an extraordinary castle, built in the 13th century, with amazing views over Tuscany and Siena and a stunning garden. A castle that immediately brings you back to the ‘old world’. This castle is the perfect mix for your luxury Italian wedding day with an old world vibe.

The walls of the castle formed the inspiration for the color palette. Soft and romantic tones with a touch of dusty blue. Which you can find back in the beautiful door of the 16th century chapel and in some of the walls.

Industry talent from all over Europe came together to make the perfect intimate celebration.

Pen to Paper created a stationery suite with the most beautiful envelop liner and menu cards. She was inspired by the wedding gown’s exquisite lace, the florals and the stunning venue. She felt that delicate handmade paper was a must, combined with inky calligraphy, charcoal vignettes and wax seals, to celebrate the beauty of Tuscany and its history.

The bride wore an exquisite Daalarna couture gown. The delicate details on this dress are just beyond and gives you that romantic feeling. These romantic lace Bella Belle shoes suited the dress perfectly. The bride also had two hair styles. A more romantic feminine look with some waves during the ceremony and a classic updo as a party look, both created by Frank Giacone.

We chose to place the intimate ceremony setting at one of the gardens with a magnificent view of the castle. Lush flowers decorated the old doors and with the beautiful Louis XVI chairs we created a luxurious organic old world feeling for the ceremony setting.

Since it was a very hot day in August, we decided to go for a champagne tower instead of a wedding cake. The champagne tower was decorated with amazing flowers from Corcortez floral design and stood in front of the beautiful dusty blue door of the chapel.

The elegant Italian garden of the castle was the perfect setting for this timeless intimate outdoor ‘fete’. The table wanted to evoke old world romance with a modern and elevated twist, using layered linen and pretty textures, gorgeous blooms focused primarily on soft romantic pinks and mauves and a touch of blue, plus a few statement décor elements. All to announce the delicate transition from Summer to Fall. And to make you want to get lost in this modern romantic wedding prettiness.

The couple drove away in a stunning vintage get-away-car that was decorated with flowers, because who doesn’t love a good vintage car?!

This feature is the perfect fit for a couple seeking elegant, luxe inspiration with a hint of old world vibes for their wedding day.

The Most Important Do’s and Dont’s of Planning a Wedding at Home

While hosting a wedding at a private estate is not a new concept, it has become a much more popular option during the Covid health crisis. Hosting a wedding at home can be a wonderful experience, but it also comes with it’s own set of challenges. Here are some do’s and don’ts to keep in mind if you’re planning on hosting your wedding at home!

Do wear the dress of your dreams

Just because your wedding is being hosted at home, does not mean that you cannot wear the dress of your dreams! Many brides have concern about wearing the dress they really love because of the setting. So long as you create a proper setting, your outdoor wedding can feel as elegant, luxurious and refined and you’d like. So yes, wear your dream wedding dress! If it’s a ballroom gown, then by all means create your own ballroom outdoors and go for it! It’s your wedding day and you should not short-change yourself! Create the environment you want to be in, and wear the dress you love! Keep in mind that transforming an outdoor space into a beautiful, ballroom-like setting is a very complex process that is better done with a professional designer/planner by your side.

Do look into the alcohol laws as well as noise ordinance for your county

This is another aspect of planning an at home wedding that many people don’t think about. You can’t just have anyone serve alcohol to all your wedding guests just because you’re on your property – you’ll need a licensed bartender! If you’re serving hard liquor, you may need an additional permit, so be sure to check into it and comply with the alcohol laws in your county. Another important thing to check is the noise ordinance – the last thing you need is a visit from law enforcement to your wedding reception because someone complained about the noise. I think we can all agree that’s no way to end a beautiful day!

Do get a tent

Planning an outdoor wedding in the hopes that the weather cooperates is just a bad idea. If you have an option to move everything indoors comfortably in the event of inclement weather, great. This is not usually the case when hosting a wedding reception at a private estate, so getting a tent is really the only way to assure that you are covered. Even beautiful months have rainy days, so always hope for the best weather, but prepare for bad weather.

Don’t forget to get a tent permit

Many people don’t realize that you need a permit to set up a tent on your property, but yes, you usually do! Regulations can vary from county to county, so the best thing to do is to consult your local permit office in advance. You’ll want to find out the permit requirements for your area, get the correct permit forms turned in and approved in time (the best time to do this depends on your permit office as well), so that you don’t run into any issues. They’ll have an inspector come out to check the tent once erected, so make sure to rent from a credible company that will comply with all the requirements so you don’t get charged extra fees for re-inspection.

Don’t get a clear top tent in warmer months unless you can keep it covered during the day

Oh my, the beauty of a clear top tent with gorgeous clear chandeliers hanging from it! I get all the fairy tale, outdoor ballroom feels and I love it! However, if a clear top tent is your vision, be sure to consider one important fact; during hot, sunny days, they work like a greenhouse! They’ll become very hot and humid inside, so you want to keep them covered with tarps on warmer days, and have the tarps removed shortly before the event is set to begin. Also give preference to a later start time if you’re set on this tent style, and be sure to add fans to the tent as well. This is very important to keep your flowers, cake and candles from becoming a disaster. Now, of course if you have a cool day this is not a concern, but if the sun is out, avoid placing flowers, candles and cake under the tent too early in the day.

Live View Studios

Don’t forget about all the trash

Boring subject, I know, but it’s very important to make sure you know what will happen with the trash at the end of the event so you don’t end up with a ton of trash bags to dispose of the next day. Talk with your caterer and see if they’re able to take it with them – sometimes there may be a fee. If not, you may want to rent a dumpster for the wedding weekend and place it somewhere inconspicuous.

Red Cardinal Studios

Don’t underestimate the amount of work that goes into planning a home wedding

It’s a common misconception that planning a smaller, at home wedding will be much easier than planning a larger wedding. As far as guest management goes, of course, it should be easier to manage 40 guests than 100! But when it comes to all of the other aspects, planning a smaller wedding at home can be just as complex – sometimes more – than planning a larger wedding at a venue. If you are getting a tent, which is recommended, even more so! In the end, no matter the size of your guest list, If you want a beautiful, well organized, easy flowing wedding day that’ll provide a great experience for your guests, then it is highly recommended that you find a planner to work with so that you and your family can relax and enjoy your wedding festivities.

One Simple Way to Avoid Sacrificing Guest Experience at Your Micro Wedding

Today’s styled shoot captured by Mandy Ford Photography is serving up a serious dose of swoon-worthy micro wedding inspo. From the bride’s knockout two-piece gown, to sun drenched blooms by Layered Vintage… not to mention the beautiful spread by Miho Catering that provided an immersive experience – a surefire way to impress your guests! Dying to see more? Then head on over to the full gallery and dive right in!

From Mandy Ford Photography… With this styled wedding we wanted to showcase warm, sun drenched tones in an intimate light. Many brides are looking for alternative smaller wedding inspiration, without having to sacrifice guest experience. We were inspired by the beautiful food Miho Catering prepared. Food and drink are a wonderful way to provide an immersive experience for guests during the pandemic.

Cocktails with a custom edible floral arrangement were served in a beautiful lounge setup. In similar fashion, the wedding cake had a custom layering of similar edible garnish. For warmth, the team brought in not just warm tones, but warm textures. The groom wore a beautiful mauve suit by Friar Tux with a mustard bowtie. Though weddings may be a little smaller in guest count, we believe brides do not need to sacrifice their vision. Our bride chose a whimsical ceremony look and a more casual lounge look by The Dress theory.

Soft and playful florals dripping in warm tones accented the groom’s attire in a spectacular fashion. Cane texture and pops of rattan brought a natural element, which paired nicely with clean, modern lines from the white, modern ceremony chairs.

Abby’s All-Time Favorite Holiday Treat Recipes (Plus a Cuisinart Giveaway!)

When I was little, my mom used to say “we could totally make that” to just about everything she saw, from ornaments to wreaths to exquisitely crafted holiday treats at our local bakery. I would roll my eyes as all sassy children do and quietly vowed that when I was a grown-up, I was going to BUY everything. But alas, as I grew up and started my own family, I quickly realized that per usual, my mom was right. Making is way more fun than buying, especially when it comes to holiday sweets and treats. All you need is a great jingle bell inspired playlist, willing and able helpers and a collection of incredible Cuisinart Appliances to whip everything up with total ease.

Lucky for our readers, Cuisinart just so happens to be giving away the ultimate holiday baking giveaway just in time for the Holiday’s! Read on for some of my favorite recipe’s and how to enter!

MARSHMALLOWS

The one thing that we make every holiday season, usually the day after Thanksgiving, are homemade marshmallows. The soft pillowy goodness runs circles around store bought marshies and I end up using them in everything from hot cocoa to hand pies. And if you stick with the Cuisinart Stand Mixer, using the whisk attachment, they are 10x easier than you could ever imagine. Recipe via The Flavor Bender.

Ingredients

14.5 oz white sugar
1/4 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup water for the gelatin
7 tsp gelatin (about 3 packets of Knox gelatin)
1 ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
1 cup confectioner’s sugar, sifted
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup white chocolate, melted
1/4 cup milk/dark chocolate, melted
*you might not use all of the chocolate so feel free to go down to 1/4 cup of each

1. Place the corn syrup and water in a pot. Stir until the sugar is moistened and mixed with the water. Heat over medium-high heat until the sugar syrup comes to a boil. Gently swirl the pan to evenly distribute the heat. Cover the saucepan with a lid and lower the heat to medium. Let the syrup cook for 2 minutes, keeping the lid on the entire time.

2. Clip the sugar thermometer to the side of the saucepan and continue cooking until the mixture reaches 242 – 245°F.

3. While the sugar syrup is cooking, prepare the gelatin by placing ½ cup of water in the Cuisinart stand mixer bowl. Add the gelatin to the water and gently stir until gelatin is moistened. Set aside to allow the gelatin to bloom while the sugar syrup is cooking (at least 10 minutes).

4. When the sugar syrup reaches the 242-245 degrees, remove it from the heat and allow the bubbles to subside. With your mixer fitted with the whisk attachment and set to to a low/medium speed, pour the sugar syrup into the gelatin letting it run down the wall of the bowl to prevent the gelatin from being scorched by the hot sugar syrup. Add the salt and increase the speed to medium/high.

5. Whisk on medium/high for 10-12 minutes until the marshmallow base triples in size and is white, fluffy and smooth.

6. While the marshmallow base is whisking, prepare the pan and all of the utensils you will be using by . rubbing with shortening. An 8 x 8 pan is great for thick, puffy marshmallows. A 9 x 13 is great for those you want to cut with cookie cutters. Make sure you also brush all utensils – spoon, spatulas, etc. – with the same shortening.

7. Back to the marshmallows. Add the vanilla to the marshmallow base and whisk to combine, no more than a minute.

8. Scrape the marshmallow base into the prepared pan using an oiled scraper, we like a silicone spatula, then spread evenly.

9. Sieve confectioners sugar over the top of the marshmallow and allow the marshmallow to set for at least 6 hours.

10. Turn the marshmallows out onto a cutting board. Completely coat a round cookie cutter (minimum of 1.5″ up to about 3″) in margarine and cut out your shapes. Brush off the top of the cut marshmallows to ensure the chocolate will stick. Use your melted chocolates to make the eyes, carrot nose and mouth. We used a toothpick to apply the nose, and placed our milk chocolate in a pastry bag with a #2 tip for the eyes and mouth.

NUTELLA POP TARTS

Pop tarts are a Larson family staple. But the only variety that I know every single kid will eat…is Nutella. Sometimes, I sneak a few marshmallows in (make sure to let them sit out overnight to dry out a bit first, otherwise they will disintegrate). The recipe is so crazy simple and using your Cuisinart Food Processor, it’s literally a cinch to pull together.

Helen Nugent’s GORGEOUS pie dough recipe
1 cup (depending on how many you make, you need about 1-2 TBS per pie) Nutella
Egg Wash (1 Egg + 1 Tbs Milk)
Cookie Cutters (we like Christmas trees because they allow a hearty filling)
3/4 cup confectioners sugar
1 Tbs milk
1 tsp vanilla

1. Using your Cuisinart Food Processor, make Helen’s pie dough, taking care to let sit in the fridge for at least an hour. Roll out to about 1/8″ thick. Use your cookie cutters to cut out as many shapes as you can. You will need 2 shapes per pop tart. Place 1-2 Tbs of Nutella in the center of each pie shape. Brush the edges of that same shape with egg wash and place a second shape on top. Seal the edges using a fork, then pop in the fridge for 30 minutes or so.

2. Preheat the oven to 350. Once chilled, brush the top of your pop tarts with egg wash. bake the pop tarts for 12-15 minutes, watching carefully and pulling when the top crust is golden brown.

3. While they are baking, make your topping. Mix confectioners sugar with milk and vanilla. If the icing feels too runny, add a bit more sugar. Too dry, add more milk.

4. Tint your icing with whatever color you’d like, noting that a single drop goes a long way! Once your pies have totally cooled, top with icing and decorate to your heart’s content!

MINI GINGERBREAD MUG TOPPERS

We make these mini ginger bread houses as flat cookies that can hug the rim of a glass and as 3-d versions that we pack into gift baskets and give to friends. They are the most smile inducing treats you could ever give and using my set of SmartNest Cuisinart Cookware, I’m able to get such an incredible bake on these cookies, as the heat is distributed quickly and evenly which is important when pulling together delicate warmed ingredients in your bakes.

Gingerbread

1 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup molasses
4 1/2- 5 cups flour
1 tbs ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp baking powder
gingerbread house cookie cutter set

1. Melt butter in a large saucepan. Add sugar & molasses, stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat & cool.

2. In a large bowl, sift 4 1/2 cups of flour, then add the rest of the dry ingredients and whisk together. Form a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the warm butter mixture. Blend well, until dough is too stiff to stir. If the dough feels too soft, add the remaining 1/2 cup flour.

3. Knead dough with hands into a ball. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator to rest for at least one hour.

4. Preheat the oven to 350º. Roll the ball of dough out on an ungreased cookie sheet to about 1/4″ thick. Begin cutting out your tiny gingerbread pieces. For single cookies, you just need the front of the house cutter. For 3-d cookies, you’ll need 4 long rectangles (2 for roof, 2 for sides) + 2 front/back pieces, totaling 6 cookies per house.

5. Bake for 6-8 minutes and let cool completely before assembling.

Gingerbread Icing

2 egg whites
2 tbs lemon juice
1/8 tsp cream of tartar
1/8 tsp salt
3 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp salt

1. Place 2 egg whites in a large bowl. Sift in 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar, add the cream of tartar & salt. Beat slowly on low speed until the mixture is smooth & creamy.

2. Stir in lemon juice until the mixture is the consistency of whipped cream. If the icing is too thin, add in more powdered sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.

3. This icing hardens quickly, making it perfect for assembling the house, but it should be put in a sealed container quickly to prevent premature hardening if you plan on assembling your houses later.

Instructions

Single Cookie Mug Toppers. Use a Wiltons #2 tip, add the snowy prettiness that makes these little gems look so lovely!

3D Mug Toppers: Use your royal icing to adhere the base together, using the short pieces to form the outside walls and a front/back piece on either side. To make this super simple, you can put the icing into a piping bag and snip a hole on the end or use a #2 pastry tip. Otherwise, simply use a butter knife. Let dry completely, about 10 minutes. Add the roof. Let sit for at least an hour so they are structurally sound when you decorate them. Lastly, use your royal icing to turn them into little winter wonderlands!

DONUTS

My Cuisinart Air Fryer is the best thing that ever hit my kitchen counters. We use it constantly for just about everything. But the hands-down favorite air fryer recipe that is so quick and easy it’s almost embarrassing, are the air fryer donuts that my kids have no idea come from a can of biscuits.

1 can of biscuit dough (1 can makes 6 donuts)
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup confecioners sugar
1″ round cookie cutter

1. Preheat your Air Fryer. Using a small, 1″ round cookie cutter, punch a hole in the center of the biscuit. Place the “donuts” into the airfryer for 2-3 minutes, then flip and allow them to cook for another 2-3 minutes.

2. Remove from the oven, brush melted butter on both sides, then sift powdered sugar all over! Alternatively, you can place them in a plastic baggie filled with powdered sugar and shake them until they are coated! Best if served nice and warm!

CAKES, COOKIES & BREADS

If there is one Cuisinart appliance that you are going to put on your registry or splurge on for yourself, make it the Cuisinart Stand Mixer. It changes everything. Your bakes become more consistent, your confidence builds, you start to conquer everything from pretty cake and holiday cookies to cinnamon rolls and babkas. The stand mixer is my number one, no holds bar kitchen soul mate and rarely a day goes by where I don’t give it a hug and a kiss.

WHITE CHOCOLATE & PEPPERMINT CAKE

My son’s birthday is on the 22nd of December, so each year, he requests a white chocolate and peppermint cake. I rely on my stand mixer to do the heavy lifting on both the cake and the frosting.

Follow the recipe here for the delicious cake, then decorate using peppermint sticks and candy canes. More is more here, people.

CINNAMON ROLLS

Every Christmas morning, we have Cinnamon Rolls. Homemade ones, because #specialoccassioncooking is real. I use my Cuisinart Stand Mixer, fitted with the dough hook, to ensure a perfect bake every single time. Also, I always double the frosting recipe because everyone loves a heavy hand when it comes to frosting.

The Ambitious Kitchen’s Recipe for BEYOND good Cinnamon Rolls. I have tried a million others and wish I could take credit for creating my own killer cinnamon roll recipe, but alas, why mess with a good thing!? Don’t forget to double the frosting!

WHITE CHOCOLATE BABKA

We used the dough recipe from The New York Times, as it’s a favorite of my family that never ever lets us down. We often switch up the fillings from chocolate to cinnamon sugar, but the one variation that gets devoured in mere hours is…white chocolate. I would love to see this layered with fresh jam but my purist kids just don’t agree. And they are normally the house winners.

Ingredients

½ cup whole milk
1 package active dry yeast
⅓ cup granulated sugar, plus a pinch
4 ¼ cups all-purpose flour, more as needed
1 ½ teaspoons fine sea salt
1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
4 large eggs, at room temperature, lightly beaten
10 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature, plus more for greasing bowls and pans.                                                            1 cup white chocolate chips

For the Syrup

2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup water

1. In a small saucepan, warm the milk until it’s warm, around 110 degrees. Add the yeast and a pinch of sugar and stir to dissolve. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes until it’s bubbly.

2. Using a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, mix flour, 1/3 cup of sugar, salt and vanilla. Add the yeast mixture and the eggs, beating until the dough comes together, about 2 minutes. The dough should be pulling away from the sides of the bowl. If it is still very sticky, add more flour 1 tablespoon at a time. Add 1/2 of the butter (5 tablespoons) and pulse until the dough is nice and smooth, about 5 minutes. Add the rest of the butter and beat for another 5 minutes.

3. Grease a medium to large sized bowl with butter. Add the dough, gently rolling the base of the dough around the greased bottom of the bowl, then flip the dough over so that the buttered side is facing up. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and allow it to rise in a warm spot for 1.5 hours or until it has double, or nearly doubled, in size (very warm spots will reach a double rise at about an hour, cooler might take as long as 2). Press down the dough and refrigerate over night.

(Sometimes, I am very lazy about this step and while it does make a significant difference in the finished flavor, the unrested babka is still utterly delish)

4. When you are ready to bake your dough, remove the dough from the fridge and divide in half. Roll 1 of your pieces out to a large rectangle, about 9×17 or so. Let rest for 10 minutes. Melt 1 cup of white chocolate chips. Spread half of this all over your rectangle, leaving 1″all the way around the border. Rolling from the long side, gently roll your dough much as you would a cinnamon roll. Repeat with the 2nd dough.

5. At this point, the easiest thing to do is wrap the roll in plastic wrap and freeze for about 15-20 minutes.

6. Once chilled, slice the roll in half lengthwise – you will have 2 long halves of the roll. Pinch the top points together and twist the halves together as if you were braiding them, then fold the braid in half so it’s about 9 inches long. Place into a prepared pan, letting it curl around itself if it’s too long. Cover loosely with a clean kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, until puffy (it won’t quite double). Repeat with the other dough.

7. Bake at 350 for about 50 minutes watching very carefully. I like to bake mine for 30 minutes with foil on top, then remove the foil for the last 20 minutes. They should be 185-210 degrees on an instant thermometer.

8. While they are baking, make a quick simple syrup. Mix 2/3 cup water with 2/3 cup sugar and mix for about 2 minutes until the sugar has dissolved.

9. When the cakes are still warm from the oven, brush them liberally with the simple syrup. Try your hardest to let them cool completely before you eat them.

How to Pair Old Warm Charm With Modern Elements at Your Micro Wedding

For today’s wedding inspo, we’re sharing the blueprints for pulling off old world charm with a mix of modern elements at your micro wedding – all thanks to Blush and Blossom Events! From a reception dripping in hundred of cascading blooms by Isibeal Studio to a Beauty and the Beast inspired escort display, there’s so much to fall head over heels in love with. To pin your faves, check out the full gallery taken by Molly Carr Photography!

From Blush and Blossom EventsNestled among the trees of the Wellington Neighborhood in Meridian Hills lies a manor fit for a king. “Fox Hill Manor” served as the perfect backdrop for this intimate micro wedding inspiration shoot. Organic, romantic, and minimal were the words used by Blush and Blossom Events to describe the vision for this shoot, which was a nod to old world charm with modern elements. We wanted to create an ethereal, dream-like setting, reminiscent of an old English garden, overflowing with lush florals. The end result was simply breathtaking.

The bride was a vision in not only one, but two Watters gowns- one worn for the ceremony and the other for the reception. The romantic floral color palette highlighted the blush Watters gown worn by our model, Natalia. The neutral florals were exquisitely designed by Isibeal Studio to enhance the private estate’s natural landscape while also paying homage to the last little bits of summer hanging on.

One of my favorite details from the shoot was the invitation suite accompanied by a love letter written from the groom to the bride, crafted by Every Little Letter. To create truly beautiful heirloom images of the invitation suite, we always recommend hiring a stylist to create the flat lay for the photographer. Isibeal Studio served as a creative director and stylist designing a stunning flat lay filled with florals to accent the handwritten note. Guest experience was of utmost importance in designing this petite celebration.

As more brides and grooms are having to pare down their wedding guest count, this can consequently result in more intentional and personal wedding details. Guests were welcomed with a charming escort display of handmade paperie and fresh blooms positioned underneath glass cloches. Hundreds of flowers cascaded down and around the newlyweds and guests as they dined al fresco, as well as served as the luxe backdrop for the cakes. Every intricate detail on the tablescape, from the wax seal place cards and vellum menus, down to the laurel leaf gold chargers, was to create more texture in the tablescape and in turn, more visual interest. Fine art wedding photographer Molly Carr captured the enchanted setting with perfection.

Parisian Wedding Inspiration at Filoli Gardens Complete With a Knockout Vera Wang Gown

When Parisian influence meets a California garden setting… magic happens. Today’s styled shoot from Erica Estrada Design at Filoli Gardens features so many pin-worthy details. From a custom Vera Wang gown that will have you short of breath, to creamy blooms in copper tones from Anastasia Andenmatten. For all the pretty you don’t want to miss, head on over to the full gallery – all taken by Sean Thomas Weddings!

From Erica Estrada DesignAn Intimate Beauty. Designed by Erica Estrada Design to inspire engaged couples to love and cherish beautifully, curated intimate celebrations. The groom, dressed in a fitted, Suit Supply tux and the bride, in a custom, Vera Wang gown, exchanged vows witnessed by their dearest loved ones in front of the iconic home at Filoli Gardens. With its perfectly manicured and complete with various flower gardens, old world architecture and brick pathways graced the presence of each guest as they traveled throughout the grounds.

Every detail of the day was perfectly captured by fine art film photographer, Sean Thomas. From the couples matching Cartier wedding bands to the “love letter” written for the bride’s parents, by Stationary Designer, Melissa of Epoch Design, every image is frame-worthy.

The brides sophisticated updo, styled by Ashley of Bridal Buns, allowed for the detailed neckline to make a statement in both the front and back of gown. Florist, Anastasia Andenmatten designed a lush and creamy bouquet that complemented the brides gown. She then included rich, copper tones in the tablescape florals to accentuate a California Fall amongst the vivid greenery of the grounds. These florals paired with Casa de Perrin’s old world, mixed with new world table top items added a surprise element to the design.

The Parisian-inspired furniture by The Copper Rose served as the final touch in bringing together Beauté Intime. The couple celebrated their nuptials by hosting an intimate dinner in the high place of Filoli Gardens. Lined with apple and peach trees, the location for dinner was set for 6 to enjoy an intimate meal together. To complete the meal, each guest was served a delicious piece of cake designed by cake artist, What’s More Cake. This day was truly an Beauté Intime.

A Lavish Garden Celebration Soaked in Pastel Roses at Villa Gallou in Greece

A place close to nature, with architectural charm and rich history was the recipe for a perfect venue for these two globetrotting entrepreneurs. And they got just that and more at Villa Gallou in Greece! Anjie Georgakopoulou was the planner extraordinaire behind today’s epic fate, designing an ultra-romantic setting soaked in pastel roses from Studio 7. Our favorite part?  The al fresco, one long table reception. Talk about a wow-worthy moment! See all the pretty at the full gallery, captured by Sotiris Tsakanikas.

From Sotiris TsakanikasIf Gothic Neoclassicism makes you think of incredibly romantic lancet windows, grand steps, decorative patterns, and majestic arched doorways sure to mellow the effects of a sleek, modern wedding, you can only imagine how thrilled we were to design Theodora and Nikos’ I do’s at Villa Gallou in Patras, Greece. A couple of globetrotting entrepreneurs, farming, and land investors, Theodora and Nikos have a very close relationship to nature, that is why they wished to hold their nuptials at a place that would combine sublime natural beauty, privacy, rich history, and architectural charm.

Their initial thought was to say I do in Italy, but having to prioritize their guests’ safety their plans took a U-turn. Wishing to make it every bit as magical as our bride and groom wished for, we sought out an alternative venue that would carry the same authentic qualities and Villa Gallou was just perfect. Designed in 1839 by the illustrious Ernst Ziller, also in charge of the design for the Greek Royal Court, the grounds are a unique melding of Neogothic architecture, magnificent gardens filled with perennial trees and flower beds, while the interior is laced with tapestries and metalwork across its many chambers, drawing rooms and libraries.

Drawing from Theodora’s uber-romantic style as well as John Wainwright’s Victorian flower pieces (you can see some of them at Tate in London) we designed a lavish garden celebration soaked in pastel-colored roses and greenery for days. Vintage Florentine tiles which also happen to decorate some of the villa’s chambers were ordered to complete the welcome gifts for the guests and became a focal element of the cake and the couple’s dinner decor in custom made textiles used for the napkins and table runner which spanned 40 meters across the joined tables. The long Italian style reception came complete with votive candles, while the cake station carried tile printed sweets and gothic vases overflowing with arrangements. Having enjoyed their luxurious ceremony Theodora and Nikos hopped on the plane early the next morning to complete their celebration in Rome and have their portraits taken where Nikos had initially proposed. Although we didn’t get to escort our bride and groom to Italy our specially curated bridal bouquet did and became a perfect match to Theodora’s Celia Critharioti gown.

7 Ways to Gear Your Girls Up for the New Year (and the 2021 Wedding Planning Season)

For those of you who may have gotten engaged throughout this trying time we call 2020, that shiny new ring on your finger is an obvious bright spot, and you’re going to want to lean into that glow as much as possible! Your girls, on the other hand, may have had less-than-ideal years, so it’s not hard to imagine that they might not be on your level of ‘let’s goooo’ yet. We get it, we get it well, because we’re all there ourselves – trying not to lose sight of the things that brought us smiles and doses (however small) of happiness this year.

Now, as the bride, you for sure have a lot of stuff on your plate when it comes to planning, making changes and/or considering concessions (because that’s the name of the game in 2020), but you’re also in a great position to be the honorary hype person for your girl group. Your bridesmaids will be there for you one day soon, standing by your side and supporting your love and your life after the I Dos, so if you can swing it right now, be their shoulder to cry on, their voice of reason, their morning motivator, their vote of confidence, and so much more. If we can borrow something from today’s trending social world, the #MyElf memes, for example: be the #AboutToSayIDoOnTheCrew, #SoonToBeWifeOnHerBffsForLife, and our favorite, #BrideWithGoodVibesOnTheWillGetThereSoonTribe. (Not exactly Oprah on Chopra, but we tried 😜)

It doesn’t take a lot, either, especially with social distancing measures still very much in place. We have several gifts and ‘little things’ on the Style Me Pretty Shop to help you stick to your New Year’s resolution: to keep the positivity flowing for your friends and your bridesmaids in 2021. Check everything out now and start things off by asking your ladies if they’d like to be an official major part of your big day!

Of course, for the special occasions when wine is warranted (an engagement party, bridal shower, bachelorette, etc. be it in-person or virtual), it should be sipped from only the sassiest of glasses – #letsbridalparty. A personalized stemless toasting flute with each girl’s name works, too!

How to Seamlessly Combine Modern Details With a Garden Setting at Your Micro Wedding

If you’re one of those couples that just can’t decide on a wedding style – he likes modern, you love romantic? No stress… just combine them! We promise the results will be better than you could have imagined. Allow today’s gorgeous garden styled shoot from Willow & Ivy Events to get your creative juices flowing. And don’t forget to pin your favorite details from the full gallery – all captured to perfection by Tetiana Photography!

From Willow & Ivy EventsLauren and Griffin, the couple in this shoot, threw the last wedding in Seattle before all gatherings were shut down due to COVID-19. Had their celebration been planned for 12 hours later, it wouldn’t have happened at all! This editorial shoot is an imagining of what their day could have been as a micro wedding, a trend that is currently sweeping the nation. Alex of Willow & Ivy Events pulled together a team of strong female owned businesses to create this wild garden dream complete with fine art details and modern designs.

The mixing of these two styles is something Alex calls “funky fine art.” The venue, Lairmont Manor, adds a little old world charm to the atmosphere that pairs perfectly with the voluminous blush ballgown from Nyzana Bridal while the three tiered ombre cake from Lady Grey, rose gold starburst like rings from Anueva Jewelry, and wild floral design from Petal & Posy add a touch of modern whimsy.

The ceremony space is set for an intimate affair with mixed soft seating from Fanciful Rentals in front of a beautiful fountain adorned with Petal & Posy’s floral pieces, which appear to be growing out of the fountain and around the bride and groom. The pair ended their ceremony with a petal toss and made their way over to the lounge for a champagne tower of sparkling rose in a gorgeous garden-like setting. Following the champagne toast and mingling was a small dinner set up.

On the table the team opted for classic blush and cream colors with traditional plates but they played around with textures – velvet table linen and napkins, vellum envelope place cards with pressed flowers – and fluffy floral centerpieces which were a unique twist on the ever popular garland table runner in the form of mixed pottery vessels running the length of the table. The menus from The Fancy Cat Studio were small booklets on handmade paper with a nod to the venue’s wrought iron gate, tied with a sweet silk ribbon. This stunning design was also woven into the invitation suite as well. This whole look created a modern, wild garden feel that mimicked the ceremony design and creative lounge space.

Looking For A Breathtaking View, With European Vibes? Enter Stone Mountain Estates!

If you recently added a new accessory to your left hand, and are looking for a venue with a European feel without all of the travel, get ready to scroll and save! This inspiration shoot at Stone Mountain Estates is everything. From the view, to the Marchesa dresses (yes, plural) and the insanely gorgeous florals by Mulberri and Moss, you won’t be able to pick just one favorite. The Elegant Ninja put together pure magic and Jessica Mangia captured it all! Now it’s your turn to take it all in and be sure to check out that video by Alessandro Bordoni Films!

From Jessica MangiaWhen the girls at The Elegant Ninja reached out to me, they asked if I was interested in bringing to life an inspiration shoot at a new wedding venue that it was going to take my breath away for the view. The expectation was high and it did not disappoint! I put together a stellar team of vendors to create a micro wedding inspiration for all the newly engaged couples who want to tie the knot at a private residence, with all the luxury that only California can offer, while being immersed in a very European context.

From the stone swimming pool to the marvelous garden that surrounded the whole property, to the breathtaking view that you can admire while tying the knot from the helipad. Just a bit of amazing that any couple can share with their loved ones, offering a luxurious one of a kind experience. While looking for the perfect wedding gown I got in touch with my contact at Marchesa and they offered not 1, not 2, not 3 but 5 marvelous dresses, which included 3 bridesmaids’ from their brand new 2020 collection.

As the project was shaping up I wanted to bring together the warmth of the Mediterranean look with the classic fine art aesthetic and so we reached out to Casa De Perrin to prepare the most gorgeous tabletop, paired with lush florals designed by Mulberry and Moss who also created the most wonderful ceremony setup. Since no detail was going to be overlooked, Epoch Design created menus and invitations that merged elegance with a modern touch, adding texture to the table with incredibly beautiful letter pressed cards.

A Whimsical Garden Wedding With a Favor Idea to Leave Your Guests Feeling Pampered

Stumped on a wedding favor idea that will stand out and really wow your guests? Then you need to see the “DIY Bath Scrub Bar” from today’s garden wedding planned by Mingle Events! I mean, is that not the cutest favor idea ever?! We’re obsessed. Dive right into all the inspiration this whimsical affair has to offer, complete with romantic floral installations from Springvine Design, all captured at the full gallery by Madeline Trent Photography!

From Madeline Trent PhotographyThis summer mountain wedding at Hawksdene Estate in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, North Carolina is elegant and whimsical. After re-scheduling their original April wedding to August, Ashley and Shane were over the moon to finally tie the knot amongst their closest friends and family in a weekend celebration that was heartfelt and stylish.

Whitney Randall with Springvine Designs used florals in a soft, pastel color palette to create a garden themed ceremony and reception. The growing aisle which was lined with arrangements culminating in a stunning arbor underneath a tree-lined driveway had wedding guests feeling as if they were in a secret garden.

A sunset al fresco dinner on long farm tables covered in romantic floral installations, created an intimate and heartfelt experience. The bride made and painted her own wedding cake and the beautiful favor table- a “DIY Bath Scrub Bar” that had all the ingredients to leave guests feeling pampered long after a night of dancing and celebration.

Ashley and Shane are the sweetest couple, and I am so honored that I was able to be a part of their beautiful day.

Stately Elegance Inspired by Quintessential European Romanticism

Looking for wedding inspiration that’s guaranteed to never go out of style? Look no further. Novalee Events Co., Belinda Jean Photography and May Chester Design joined creative forces to dream up today’s timelessly elegant shoot at Nemacolin’s Chateau Lafayette. Complete with a romantic indoor ceremony overflowing in blooms, a princess dress and a Rolls-Royce exit – there’s just so much to fall in love with. Don’t miss out on the full gallery to see all the pretty.

From Novalee Events CoHaving been intrigued by Nemacolin’s Chateau Lafayette for its dignified aesthetic, we sought to illustrate our editorial story in this unparalleled setting as it resonated with discernment and timelessness. Where stately elegance is in abundance, the Chateau Lafayette is fittingly embellished with coffered ceilings, distinguished ornate details, and grand crystal chandeliers. Ultimately, our focus was to capture the sensual love between a sophisticated bride and groom while incorporating subtle yet opulent European details.

The Clémence from The Lace Atelier was chosen for its delicate silhouettes and labyrinthine lace details. The soon-to-be bride radiated with a relaxed sophistication and a refined sensuality as she gazed upon the Lafayette Gardens from her regal suite while sipping her tea from a Versace Medusa Gala cup that is known for its opulence. Before being adorned by the bride, the Milla Nova wedding gown from Bridal Beginning was proudly displayed on a mirror of grandeur that was laced in gold-intricate detail. Completed in beautiful mikado fabric, the graceful gown was chosen for its flawless and classic design as it truly resonated with a blend of timelessness with haute couture fashion for the discerning bride-to-be.

Handcrafted in luxe embossed leather, the understated Jimmy Choo bridal shoes enhanced the bride’s refined aesthetic. The design inspiration for the intimate nuptials was to design asymmetrical floral columns that were romantic and organically defined. The Lafayette Gardens served as the centerpiece for our intimate dining table. Overflowing with blousy blooms and delicate textures, the inspiration behind the florals was to curate a design that would emulate flowers growing right out of the table—where you might even find butterflies gliding above the cappuccino garden roses or the white O’Hara roses.

The table was designed to accentuate luxurious details, such as the luxe gold-detailed Versace dinnerware. Classical romanticism inspired this 3-tiered wedding cake composed of loose fondant ribbons as well as a soft lush arrangement of sugar flowers in dusty hues of blush and ivory finished with delicate golden gilding. When designing the stationery, Sugared Fig Paperie envisioned a romantic European chateau with intricate filigree work and feminine textiles. The stationary was inspired partly by time spent in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and Downton Abbey. For the design, it included a regal crest and loose, hand-scripted calligraphy, where different textures as handmade paper, vellum, and hand-dyed silk were incorporated. To add additional interest, a subtle combination of floral and tool patterns were added to complete the vision. Nemacolin’s Rolls-Royce was the flawless conclusion to our editorial—as it embodied opulence, stately elegance, and an everlasting expression of excellence.

A Colorful and Modern Elopement with Some Southern Charm At Parcel 32, Charleston’s Newest Venue!

Bright, colorful and modern is the perfect way to describe Charleston’s newest venue, Parcel 32, where today’s inspiration shoot took place with a real life couple as the models! Inspired by the venue’s floral mural, this shoot paired modern vibes with just the right amount of Southern charm to create something beautiful, shot by Sacia Matthews and planned by Camila Craft. Check out all of the pops of color, blooming florals by Petaloso and my favorite…the Love Always Wins marquee!

From Sacia MatthewsThis inspiration shoot was inspired by the deliciously gorgeous venue – Parcel 32, one of Downtown Charleston’s newest wedding venues. The space is designed with modern vibes, including a gorgeous floral mural, which really anchored the color and inspired design of the day. At the core, we wanted this day to feel modern in look and feel, but equally, have an air of Charleston Charm mixed with a little bit of sultriness and sexiness that is having this quiet secret between two people – you’re married!

The stationery, designed by Paper Refinery, was a nod to all the fun colors that the venue naturally had, and equally a nod to the modern design by incorporating clean lines, the acrylic invitation – which almost felt like holding an award – something treasured, truly heirloom.

The cake was equally inspired by the fun colors of the stationery, and the venue, without being overly distracting. The deckled and frayed edges of the cake really added to that modern dimension and broke up the many clean lines we were working with from the day.

COVID-19 has totally changed many couple’s original plans, however, we wanted to show that the day could still be completely elevated and gorgeous, especially with accents that add a flair to the design and decor of the day. We knew that our models (a real couple!) would be gorgeous in their fashion-forward gowns, including adding floral shoulder pads created by Lori at Petaloso, and an incredible crown from Emma Katzka.

Patrick Properties was kind enough to create a special marquee for this shoot to celebrate our model couple, by saying Love Always Wins. The couple was nearly in tears seeing the board for the first time!

Determined not to let Covid stop them from marrying, they hired a local wedding planner to help bring the Italian charm to their homestate of Maryland. When they toured Strong Mansion up in the mountains in Dickerson, Maryland, they fell in love with the gorgeous grounds and grey chateau-esque venue.

They brought in similar designs and ideas that they were originally planning to have at their Italian wedding, such as a gelato cart, olive oil tasting, and limoncello!

Their stationery designer re-designed their invitation to reflect their new venue, but they still used their original crest throughout the stationery designs. A delicious meal of ravioli, fish, and caprese and lots of limoncello signature drinks rounded out a beautiful wedding day.

The Terracotta Themed Escort Card Display Every Plant-Obsessed Couple Needs to See

Calling all “plant parents”! This adorable backyard wedding in California planned by Amorology is right up your alley. Today’s darling duo originally planned to host a 300-person celebration by the beach. But when COVID made an appearance, they decided to tie the knot at home, with just 60 of their nearest and dearest. The tented reception was dressed in beautiful shades of pink, teal, and terracotta… adorned in lush arrangements from Blooms Design House. We couldn’t help but oooh and ahhh over the adorable terracotta themed escort display, not to mention the too-cute-to-handle potted plant cake design! To see all the details (and pin your faves), head on over to the full gallery captured by Cavin Elizabeth Photography!

From Cavin ElizabethTeresa and Christian had originally planned for a very different wedding. Their initial plan was to have 250-300 guests for a Catholic ceremony and a hotel reception by the ocean. After Covid made its full appearance in California, the plans began to change. Ultimately, nearly a week out from the wedding, they made the plan to host the reception at Teresa’s parents’ home in Fallbrook, California.

They kept the church ceremony, although it did move from indoors to outside of the church. Their final guest count was around 60 guests who all enjoyed the beautiful scenery and libations at the family home. Beautiful shades of pink, teal, and terracotta graced the escort display and tablescapes of the reception.

To compliment the tones of terracotta, wooden crossback chairs for guests and linen-tufted cane back chairs surrounded a mix of round and long tables. These organic wood tones felt so cozy underneath the reception tent! One group of tiny details to note can be found on the wedding cake.

Potted plants were incorporated into the cake’s design in the form of bas relief. Plus, the plants are potted in little terracotta pots – how darling!

The couple enjoyed their toasts and first dance, as guests – including the groom’s parents via a video call – watched in awe. It was truly an incredibly sweet evening.

A Sunset Inspired Shoot With The Cutest Mobile Bar Cart At Bonnie Blue’s Event Venue

There is just something to be said about a good sunset, they are captivating and you can’t help but stop for a moment and take it all in. Enjoue Studio took that inspiration and designed a stunning styled shoot at Bonnie Blues Event Venue in Colorado! With florals by MJM Designs in an array of colors to match the setting sun and a mobile bar cart by La Piccolina Mobile Bar, I don’t know which detail I love more! Take a look at Sarah Porter’s gorgeous images below to pick yours!

From Sarah Porter PhotographyThere’s something about a sunset that is incredibly alluring. One can stand on the edge of a mountain, overlooking an open prairie, or along a body of water, and still be mesmerized by the beauty of the colors and magic a sunset paints in the sky and on the surrounding landscape.

Our editorial shoot designed and styled by Enjoue Studio was based on the concept of the glorious colors we experience in Colorado at sunset. There are tones of blush, peach, amber, rosy pinks, and mauves that drift into the evening blue tones that melt into the colors that grow ever deeper. We brought this color palette into every element of decor and throughout each scene.

Our petite wedding is set at the new and stunning Bonnie Blues Event Venue in Elizabeth, Colorado. The style is modern and expressive of our color palette that surrounds the ceremony site and reception spaces to follow. We wanted to combine the natural beauty of the prairie, a modern barn styled event venue, and a young sophisticated couple sharing their “I dos” in simplicity with only a few select loved ones.

Each floral bloom from MJM Designs was thoughtfully planned to coordinate with the transitional colors of the sunset and were locally sourced with seasonal dahlias, cosmos, roses, ranunculus, and other blooms in a warm sunshine bouquet. These similar flowers are arranged in an ombre of tones to accent our ceremony space with a clear contemporary acrylic guest chair that is also used again with the dinner reception table.

After the intimate ceremony, guests are welcomed with a charming mobile bar cart from La Picollina Bar, imported from Italy, and retro-fitted for beer and champagne on tap. Next to the bar is a modern lounge set from Enjoue Studio, accented with multi-colored stemware, hammered copper mugs for sipping libations, and cozy accessories in the colors of the setting sun.

Each accent detail was given the same consideration as all the other touches, with an emphasis on the color palette and modern shapes. Our paperie suite from Sweet Zion Paperie suggests to the guests of the event to come with natural fiber papers and geometric patterns that whisper of the evening Colorado prairie.

All of the tableware items are from Enjoué Studio and were selected to combine old and new elements for a sense of remembering the past and looking forward to the future. At each place setting is a mixture mix & match colorful stemware. We also used modern chargers and pale blush dinner plates layers with a vintage ornamental plate. The sunshine tones are highlighted by the English pattern plates from the late 1800s in colors of cream, yellow, pinks, and reds. This collection created by Minton has colorful enamel centers, with playful floral bands in warm and bright tones. Each decorative plate is complementary to the dahlias in the table florals, and one of a kind with their accented 24-carat gold rims and a playful floral pattern band.

Sunsets are not only beautiful, but they also have so much meaning. They signify transformation and change. They also remind us of the day ending and the importance of our time with those we love. What better way to celebrate, than to be with the one you love the most, in the light of the sun setting and toasting to new beginnings, sipping on sunsets.

A Blush Gown, Lake Como Views, and Roses Galore – This Is What Microwedding Dreams Are Made Of.

Today’s inspiration shoot from Honour and Blessing is every romantic bride’s dream microwedding – brought to life! With the idyllic Villa Balbiano as their backdrop, the sweetest couple wed under a baby’s breath adorned floral arbor from Ratti Flora. The bride absolutely stunned in an elegant, blush pink Le Spose Di Gio gown that perfectly complimented her sugar plum, pink and cream bouquet. To see every last detail and breathtaking view, don’t miss out on the full gallery… all taken by Jen Huang!

From the planners… Our couple got engaged in the summer of 2019 in Southern Italy and were planning to have their wedding also in Italy. When we were conceptualizing the idea for this shoot, we designed it with an intimate wedding in mind. From the colours to the actual wedding and reception, we wanted to create a wedding where the designs will complement and flow with the beautiful designs of Villa Balbiano and also have plenty of Italian touches as the groom is Italian. With the classic and opulent decor at Villa Balbiano we wanted the colours to be elegant and timeless. As we looked at the details of Villa Balbiano we fell in love with a beautiful antique chair and it became the inspiration for our theme of “Sugar Plum Romance” for the couple.

Using shades of sugar plum, pink, and gold, we wanted to paint the scene of a picture out of a storybook. Villa Balbiano proved to be the perfect setting for our “Sugar Plum Romance” concept with its idyllic views of the lake against the backdrop of majestic mountains. Creating around this concept, all the vendors came to bring this story to life. Veronica Halim of Truffypi created a breathtaking invitation suite with plenty of texture and depth in the handmade paper and various colour tones. For the ceremony, we wanted to keep the focus on the iconic Villa Balbiano building. We chose white flowers to create a dreamy and airy arch to complement the surroundings and an archway that surrounds their doorway. Rattiflora also created plenty of low floral arrangements in various sugar plum shades that we used during cocktail hour, table, and fireplace. Using the impressive stone table for reception, we soften the look with a delicate silk runner and napkins from Fati D Amor and plenty of candles from The Floral Society.

The Wedding Day:

The day started with Ying getting ready leisurely with hair and makeup done by The Glamourist. With the delicate and romantic vintage Claire de Lune outfits, Jane created a soft look with wavy curls as Ying took different portraits throughout the Villa. In the meantime, William got ready in his Hall Madden tux and everything about the morning was very relaxing, just like a vacation in Italy. For the ceremony, Ying changed into her Le Sposio Gio gown that was dreamy and flowed perfectly with the sugar plum romance as it is in a full and delicate wedding gown with a touch of pink tones. Her hair was also transformed into a low bun to match her gown and to showcase the design of the neckline. The small group of international guests arrived on the property for the intimate ceremony and were seated on the lawn facing the iconic entrance to the villa.

As Ying walked down the aisle, which was the area on both sides of the fountain area. She only had eyes on the smiling groom as he waited under the baby breath’s arch as she walked towards him. The couple exchanged their vows as guests witnessed their love story and celebrated together with them. Everyone also gathered around in front of the majestic archway to give the couple their blessings by showering them with a confetti toss. After the ceremony Ying changed into her evening gown for cocktail hour with her guests as everyone admired the view of the lake and mountains.

Under a private canopy of foliage and flowers, the newlyweds entered the reception area with cheers from the guests and shared a lovely meal together. The beautifully textured wedding cake in sugar plum tones by Qualcosa Di Dolce tied everything together, ending the wonderful day on a sweet note full of love. We hope you can relive the enchantment and romance through the magic of Jen Huang’s lens and also the snippet of the video from Julie Aarons.
