Home 101: Elements of the Nightstand

The nightstand can truly and honestly be the make-or-break element of your bedroom. It’s a tricky little bugger because you want it to be super functional, decorative, not obnoxious but also chic…. But at the end of the day you just want it to hold your chapstick.

So we’re breaking it down to the basic elements that compose a good — yet functional — nightstand.

1. The Nightstand Itself

There are a couple of key components that make a great nightstand choice.

Height: your nightstand should be an inch or two taller than your mattress. It will look a little dinky and dis-proportional if it dips below your mattress line, so always error on the side of taller. Choosing this height is dependent on SO many variables, do you have a boxspring? Platform bed? Single Matress? Most nightstands come at standard heights around 20inches and higher, so before you select your piece, measure your mattress height and go from there!

Storage: This is totally preference. Some people LOVE a good pedal stool nightstand that’s slender, non-intrusive and chic. Others need the drawers to store their pj’s and other night-time routines. The more you can store IN your nightstand the less you have to store ON your nightstand.

Style: You used to buy FULL matching sets including dressers, armoires and bed. Nowadays, there’s beauty in the mix! But you still want to have some unity. Take account your bed legs, materials and color. This example is a velvet headboard paired with a sleek wood stand, and the duo is working some serious magic.

Functionality: What kind of space are you working with? Do you want to have a desk in your room but can’t figure out where to put it? Maybe a desk/nightstand combo is just what you need! If you just need your nightstand to hold a lamp, the pedal stool side table is just what you need. We’ve even seen some RIDICULOUSLY chic ballroom chairs function perfectly as a nightstand.

2. Decorative Stack

Studies show the significant benefits of unplugging an hour before going to bed. So whether you want to journal, read or skim a magazine, it’s always a good idea to keep a casual read or two handy on the nightstand.

3. The Tiny “Catch-All” Dish

This dish is dainty and cute and oh-so-pretty, but it is also SUPER handy. It can hold those earings you forgot to take out before going to bed, corral your chapstick to prevent it from rolling off the table or hold your rings while you apply your nightly lotion. This tiny-little-always-overlooked-power-tool of decorating comes in so, so handy.

4. Easy Reach Lighting

How many times have you gotten all tucked in, nuzzled up and cozy in bed…. Only to realize the light is still on from your pre-bedtime reading? Yeah, it sucks. Easy reach lighting can help to prevent this. AND in the morning it’s a softer light that you can reach as a stepping stone to get you out of bed because you don’t have to fully commit to the cold floors to get any form of light on. There are two forms of lighting to consider here.

Mounted Lighting: The pro of this form of lighting is that it frees up your entire nightstand to do whatever you want with it. It’s chic, it makes a statement and it’s super practical. The con is that it takes quite a bit of effort and commitment. If you like to move your furniture around, this is not a good option for you.

Lamp: Lamps come in all shapes and sizes and can seriously make a design statement. The only con is that they take up quite a bit of room on your nightstand, but they’re also typically a lower price range and they’re a great option for those who like to switch things around. Changing the style or color of your lamp can make a BIG impact in any room.

5. Greenery

If you’ve been following along with us for more than like 5 seconds then you will quickly deduce that greenery is always the answer. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to a fresh bundle of flowers? Or you can opt for a small potted plant that you don’t have to constantly refresh.

6. Compartments

Compartments fall in similar functionality to the Tiny Dish. A consolidated mess is a lot easier to handle, and in this case, it makes “clutter” uber chic. This can hold your watch, phone, wallet or keys in a totally elegant way.

A couple of other tips and tricks

– Simple is best when it comes to setting up your nightstand. The worst thing a nightstand could be is a total cluttered mess that you constantly knock over in the early morning when trying to swat at your alarm.

– Be extremely selective with what goes on your nightstand, after all, it’s the last thing you see at night and the first thing you see in the morning! Adding a treasured photo is always a good idea here.

– Hide your cords! Or, ditch the electronics altogether and charge them elsewhere. A big mess of cords totally ruins any aesthetic efforts you make.

– Keep a pen and notebook on hand: Do you wake up in the middle of the night with a BRILLIANT idea, but can’t remember it in the morning? Keep your notebook on hand. So go forth! And make your nightstand excellent!

13 Desks That Prove You Don’t Need An Entire Room For An Amazing “Home Office”

For many people, working from home ignites a new project. You now need a space to call your “office.”

A quick search on Pinterest (or frankly, even on our site!) will populate GORGEOUS rooms designed and dedicated ENTIRELY to a home office. And while they are totally enviable and swoon-worthy, unless you have hidden square footage in your home that you can magically convert, it is less of a reality if working from home is not your normal.

But don’t lose heart! Just because you don’t have a whole room to become your ~brand new super swanky~ office, that doesn’t lessen your project potential and it certainly doesn’t lessen your productivity! And these workspaces prove just that!

A Citrus Inspired Editorial at Bastide Des Barattes in Provence

Grab your passports and escape to Provence with today’s gorgeous citrus inspired fête planned by Provence Emoi! From the bride’s breathtaking two-piece number to a daring color palette of purple, yellow and orange hues brought to life by Jadis Fleur’s blooms… the steal-worthy inspo here is truly endless. We can’t help but swoon over the golden hour portraits captured by Thomas Audiffren in the lavender fields at Bastide des Barattes – talk about an insta-worthy setting! To watch the magic unfold and pin all your fave details, check out the full gallery here!

From Thomas Audiffren Pauline, the wedding planner at Provence Emoi, likes witnessing the vendors’s work revealed on every single detail. Today’s inspiration is an original team work planned by Provence Emoi and designed in collaboration with photographers Jérémie HKB and Thomas Audiffren. This shooting is an elopement fantasy, Purple lemon inspired and intimate with an eight seat table rented to Oravis location for the two lovers and their closest friends. The venue chosen for these photos is the incredible Bastide des Barattes located in cavaillon in the heart of Provence.

The bride of the day is enhanced by the incredible work of Karine Brossard with the hair design and the make up. The bride is also beautified by the delicate jewelry creations of Les Néréides and the tunning dress created by Géraldine Daulon. The groom is wearing a pastel blue suit from Igilles. For a perfect sweet escape after the ceremony, Provence Classics provided the incredible Lady Mary, a MGA roadster from 1958! The concept for the table and the details was to combine touches of purple and warm colours like yellow with the lemon and orange with the kumquat.

Loic from “Jadis Fleur” created a wonderful flower bouquet, an amazing floral arch for the ceremony and adelicate and modern floral composition for the table. The entire tableware comes from Le Comptoir de Julia. Our goal was to create a very elegant, soft and romantic atmosphere, trying to find a balance between a fashion approach and a lifestyle touch. The setting of the table is enpowered by the sweet wedding cake designed by Maison Mimosa and a sofisticated touch with a Ruinard bottle of champagne. Our color palette and texture elements contributed to the wedding venue’s refinement with wonderful Bastide des Barattes and, at the same time, the evidence of the couple’s complicity. The delicate « kumquat inspired » stationery created by Marion Léger Design perfectly combined on the flatlays with the real fruits and the poetic shoes created by Bella Belle. The film photographer Thomas Audiffren shows you the best of this great inspiration with a film photos report processed and scanned by Carmencita Film Lab. The photographer Jérémie HKB is also a key element for the styled shoot by provinding excellent digital photos.

The Ultimate Nashville Wedding In The Bride’s Childhood Home

When an interior designer bride teams up with Paige and Windrow Event Planning, you know the result will be spectacular. Lillian’s childhood home was transformed into her dream wedding venue, and the awe-inspiring pictures by Elizabeth Lanier Photography are giving us all the laidback elegant vibes we dream of. The design inspired garden party is not to be missed, complete with rattan chandeliers dripping in greenery and a hanging floral installation above the dance floor by Tulip Tree Ink. Head to the full gallery to drool over all the special details.

From the bride… The day felt extra special and unique having it at my childhood home, in the backyard that I grew up playing in. My parents were so kind and generous to let us take over their house and transform it into our dream wedding venue. The whole event was intimate and dreamy and felt true to who we are as a couple.

I was very involved in the planning, but I couldn’t have imagined doing it without Paige and Windrow. As an interior designer, I immediately started treating the process as I would a job—I literally had a PowerPoint presentation at our first wedding planning meeting! I knew I wanted it to have a casual, yet elegant feel.

My husband and I had an amazing experience with Elizabeth Lanier Photography. We were both were a little nervous on the day of, but Sarah Elizabeth was so nice and made us feel totally at ease. She gave us plenty of direction, but let us be ourselves. She has such a calming energy. The end result was beautiful photos that felt natural and candid and truly captured who we are as a couple and the best day of our lives together so far.

Preppy Classic Home that Perfectly Blends Neutral with Color

Editor’s Note: This home is the perfect marriage of a neutral base + bright pops of beautiful colors! Just wait until you take a peek at that GORGEOUS laundry room.

Situated on a wooded lot in Edina, MN, this home has breathtaking treetop views. Our clients, an empty-nester couple, wanted intentional rooms and individualized spaces in a color palette that was playfully preppy with coastal undertones.

With main-level living and ample outdoor space, the home boasts an easy indoor-outdoor flow. We created a seamless flow not only to the outdoors, but between rooms without losing sight of their individual personalities.

We approached each room as an opportunity to introduce a unique element, while using the remaining selections to establish uniformity and continuity. Additionally, the ceiling details, millwork, flooring and wallpaper alternately delineate spaces and create cohesion.

We kept the backdrop of the home neutral, and chose playful and coastal selections, materials and accents. A consistent color palette of navy and Kelly green also helped to pull everything together.

From the dining room’s chairs, to the patterned laundry and bathroom floors, to our vibrant inclusions of color and prints, we were able to incorporate surprise in every room, while also achieving our clients’ goals.

Home 101: The Credenza

What is a credenza? How is it different from a sideboard? Or a buffet table? What about a dresser? Truth be told, these are all VERY confusing, and honestly, you see them all over Pinterest in ways that are pretty interchangeable.

Here’s the thing, we’re big believers in knowing the rules and then breaking them intentionally. No one is going to come through the door and yell at you for using a credenza in your bedroom or a dresser in your living room, but knowing what you’re working with helps to prevent accidental decisions and equip you for intentional decisions!

The technical definition of a credenza is “a sideboard or cupboard” which is absolutely zero help. So let’s back it up a bit. Before beautiful built-in cabinetry, credenzas (sideboards) were almost like sitting lower cabinets.

They were low to the ground, traditionally didn’t have legs and held things like your dishware and linens. It has food-based origins, which is why you see them a lot in dining rooms, and why you also get them confused with buffet tables. And what separates a credenza from a dresser is that a credenza typically has sliding or cabinet doors, and a dresser has drawers.

Modern times changed the credenza up a bit by adding legs. Mid-mod credenzas added those sleek long legs to a credenza and you started to see a bit of a separation from the buffet table and a migration to the living room. And the addition of legs started to add some confusion to the dresser situation.

With the shift in location came a shift of use. Some people use a credenza as a tv stand, others as a bar, and you even see a lot of them as entry tables.

Now, when your shopping for credenzas, you get a whole SLEW of options. Some are short, some are ornate, some have really tall legs, some still sit flush to the ground. It’s such a versatile furniture piece that you really can’t go wrong! But the safest, most traditional place for it is in the living room.

So now that you know what it is, here are some styling tips (i. E. The fun part)

1. A Good Table

This is a given, but we would be amiss to leave it off the list. If you’re overwhelmed on where to start in locating your style, start by looking at the legs! Every style has a pretty definitive leg — modern is straight and lean, traditional has some turning to it, mid-mod has the peg leg and the french like to add some curves. Once you figure that out it’s all about color and functionality.

2. Tall Element

This can be in the form of greenery, sculptural piece or in this case, cool lighting. You’ll want to add some height variation to this table because it’s typically long and skinny, so play with the balance here.

3. Greenery

9/10 times this will be on our styling list. Why? Because it brings life into a space and a kind of organic texture you can’t get with anything else. And it’s pretty. Duh.

4. A Base For Figurines

When you’ve got smaller decor items, they sometimes seem like they’re floating out in the abiss and look “set down” instead of “placed.” One way to make them so much more intentional is to anchor them with a base. This can be a stack of books, a tray, or anything that looks like it’s adding to the whole set up.

5. Container

This follows the same principle as a “base” but the difference is in its ability to corral a large number of things as opposed to anchoring smaller things. In this case, the different bar items need to be held together to not look so busy, and having a tray makes the mess “chic”

6. Purpose for Credenza

Because the credenza is SO versatile, it’s really helpful to have a purpose for it. It can be your TV stand, your bar, a place for your record player, the base to your art wall or it can even make for a cute coffee bar. The point is that you want your furniture to also function for you, so highlight what looks good and then store the rest in those oh-so-handy-and-not-to-be-forgotten shelves.

7. Wall Focal Point

When you’re working with furniture that’s waist-high, you’re going to almost always need something on the wall to make it look right. Leaving the wall blank would just feel wrong quite frankly. You can pretty much do whatever you like here! A mirror always makes a space feel bigger and brighter, wall art that’s smaller really benefits from having a piece of furniture under it, and family photos would never be the wrong choice here.

8. Architectural Framing

The most common place to put a credenza is against “that big blank wall” and that is always a correct answer, and to make it feel at home you’ll want to anchor the piece with some architectural elements. That can a pair of wall-mounted lighting, some trim work, between windows, next to a door frame. Just pay attention to what’s around your credenza to make it feel like you really meant to put it there. And you’re never wrong to center it. Just throwing that out there.

So now that you know what you’re working with, and you know how to style it, go on! Go getcha a good credenza and make it look fab.

Emerald Green Is Here To Be Seen From The Grooms Attire To The Getaway Car At The Santa Lucia Preserve!

A Winter wedding in California AKA an absolute dream is exactly what you need on a Monday! It is the perfect opportunity to add in one of my favorite colors, emerald green, and Every Elegant Detail did exactly that with this styled shoot at The Santa Lucia Preserve from the groom’s elegant tux to the Bugatti getaway car. With velvet linens and overflowing blooms by Amy Burke Designs from centerpieces to that overflowing bouquet, this shoot is full of texture, detail, and some absolutely gorgeous images by Carlie Statsky. Take a peek below…and then let your fiance know that he is wearing an emerald green tux on your wedding day!

From Every Elegant DetailThe Santa Lucia Preserve is an exclusive property in Carmel Valley on a 20,000-acre nature preserve with stunning oak trees on expansive lawns and gentle rolling hills. What better way to highlight the natural beauty of the property than to incorporate layers of textures that would allow all aspects of the details to bring harmony to the design.

The color palette began with grey velvet linen from La Tavola that allowed for the textural florals and place settings to make a statement. Bringing in the black floral napkins and black, modern chairs from Theoni and black letterpress menus and table numbers provided more contrast against the neutral linen. Amy Burke Designs is the mastermind behind the impressive floral elements. The dinner table is set with multiple floral centerpieces filled with roses, garden roses, Queen Anne’s lace in shades from soft lilac to off-white accented by warm tones in leaves and berries as well as textural greenery. Bringing in taper candles in black, nude, and white further adds the We love the greenery added to the back of chairs as well as the plates.

Aerialist Press designed the letterpress invitation suite to pull together all the details from our inspiration board. We love how the straightforward font and neutral invitation is complemented with the floral envelope liner and silk ribbon to give that touch of elegance to the suite.

Selecting this delicate long-sleeved lace gown designed by Daalarna Couture was a dream pairing accented by vintage emerald earrings and a statement ring from Fourtane that brought together a romantic and elegant look for the bride.

We ended the afternoon by driving Monterey Touring Vehicle’s vintage Bugatti sports car up the top of the Preserve for some beautiful sunset portraits with the couple. We love this unique choice for a getaway car!

How to Make Your Wedding Uniquely You, While Keeping It Timeless in Style

It is so much fun to talk about trends – and in the wedding world, there are so many of them. Just last week, for instance, we sounded off on a handful of 2021 must-have motifs. Then again, there are also those wedding ideas that have been around forever and no matter how many times we see them pop up in photos, video, Instagram posts, reels and roundups, we never find ourselves tired or ‘over it.’ These are the timeless features, the enduring elements that will surely still be popular in another 10, 20, 50 years.

When we started considering which products we’d fill our Style Me Pretty Collection with, we knew we wanted a blend of trendy and timeless items. So, as you peruse the shop, you’ll see that everything can be styled in ways that are ‘of the moment’ or completely tried and true – and however you choose to incorporate them into your wedding, just be sure you add your own signature touch to the detail. From clean and classic wedding invitations and heirloom-worthy props to make your flatlays shine to beautifully-calligraphed place cards and garlands to guarantee a significant glow-up to your getaway car, these are our favorite timeless takes from our curated collection.

And if you’re having trouble envisioning the timeless touch points of your day, ask one of your style-savvy friends, your wedding planner, or your photographer to comb the site with you in advance of your big day. Everything is available to shop right now!

Read on for the timeless real wedding trends (sounds like an oxymoron, but makes a lot of sense) we’ve seen show up for decades and how you can ‘get the look’ for your own special day.

The Invitation

We have a lot of classic invitation suites, but this one just epitomizes timelessness and elegance. Not only is the palette pretty perfect (blues will always be in and metallic accents, especially gold, can go both trendy or traditional), the typography is particularly fitting, as well. Plus, because the design is so clean, it can be styled however you’d like for your wedding morning flatlay photos. Can’t you just see this beauty anchoring a vignette with your shoes, your bouquet or some greenery, and a gorgeous perfume bottle? We can!

To that end, exceptional stationery will never go out of style, so you can also print programs (which we love, because each guest can take theirs home and remember the day+the principal people involved, just like they would with a playbill from their favorite musical)

The Wedding Morning

Sure, we’d say that the timeless choice of gown would be one that’s white and long, with a veil for days – and we love that look, really, we do, but making the day ‘uniquely you’ means that you can wear what you want: be it white, champagne, blush or black. What really makes a timeless wedding morning is your squad helping you get ready, champagne being poured into whatever festive flutes you have on hand, and your dress displayed on a worthy garment hanger

Of course, you don’t have to honor all of the something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue traditions, but like we mentioned earlier, blue truly ages well…. Our powder blue handkerchief is so on-brand for the getting ready portion of your day, and we can’t help but get all the 😍😍😍thinking about the wedding photos that will be captured over the years, with each new bride in your family making the accessory her own something borrowed.

The Table Decor

Crisp linens, lots of candles (at varying heights and thicknesses), greenery garlands, and soft blooms in unassuming vessels will never retire from the wedding hot list register. We have plenty of candle options available on the shop, from tall tapers to timeless tea lights. Add to that a simple white scalloped table placard with gold gilded edges and foil numbers, and you’ve pulled together Style Me Pretty’s most-loved reception table look.

The Gift and Guest Book Game

There has been a huge shift in the types of wedding gifts that couples have prioritized (experiences over ‘things,’ for one), but at the end of the day, brides and grooms absolutely appreciate traditional gifts and money from their guests. So, we’ll always love a pretty gift table, complete with a clean white and gold card box for all of those colorful envelopes. The same goes for a traditional and tangible guest book over out-of-the-box alternatives. While having guests write on a globe or sew/stitch sentiments into your wedding quilt sounds really cool, there’s something to be said for a simple book with ample room for your friends and family members’ inscriptions.

Recently, couples have gotten into having guests sign their favorite cookbooks (we’ve featured several weddings with these kinds of inclusions, too!), and it’s also a pretty timeless bridal shower tradition to have guests bring their favorite recipe to add to the bride’s rolodex. What would be a more perfect blend of trend and tradition, then, than our guest book with cards and envelopes? Just something sweet and personal to include [as a request] in your all purpose card, when you start imagining your invitation suite.

The Getaway Car

For as long as we can remember, couples have been exchanging vows and then hopping into their own getaway car to ride to their reception. Limos are great and spending time with your bridal party is fun, too, but there is just something so classic and poetic about newlyweds driving off with their partygoers following closely behind. Of course, when your friends and fam head to your venue, maybe you sneak off to an undisclosed photo site where your photographer can snap some golden hour portraits in your favorite place. Either way, a getaway car is timeless (just like the antique cars can be themselves). Make yours uniquely you with a banner or a garland in the back. Mr. and Mrs. or multicolored ribbons, whatever you choose, just coordinate with your florist to have some extra blooms to style with in back and a cart of champagne nearby to cheers for the first time as a married pair

Rustic Elegance With a Few Subtle Celestial Touches for This Ventana Big Sur Wedding

Big Sur is gracing the pages of SMP yet again with her epic views and jaw-dropping beauty. Callista & Company designed a day for the bride and groom filled with rustic elegance, celestial touches, and contemporary romance. When we say there was no detail left unturned, we mean it. From over one hundred candles in glass vessels hanging on iron shepherd hooks as escort cards to an actual astronomer guiding guests during the reception – the inspiration is truly endless. Check out the full gallery of steal-worthy moments, all taken by the always lovely Lacie Hansen!

From Callista & CompanyOur design exhibited central themes of rustic elegance, intentionally, and a sense of contemporary romance. It was important for us to embrace and elevate the surrounding landscape and to provide guests with a unique and memorable experience. We added in a few celestial touches, inspired by the dramatically starry sky in Big Sur, and we hired an astronomer to guide guests during the reception. Our deep velveteen green, redwood, and umber color palette felt cohesive with the surrounding landscape with some additional unexpected tones like crimson, crushed rouge, and foggy white. We had the great honor of affixing a civil war era quilt, which had bee passed down for generations in Evan’s family, as the fabric on top of the chuppah. Guests sat on authentic redwood benches in the middle of the Redwood Cathedral, an intimate ceremony space at Ventana which is surrounded by towering coastal redwood trees.

Laura and Evan’s interactive escort card display was one of the most favorite I’ve ever designed. After the ceremony, guests walked along a winding gravel pathway from the Redwood Cathedral to the Ocean Meadow. The pathway was lined with 108 candles in glass vessels hanging on iron shepherd hooks. Each hook featured individual guest escort cards hand-tied with deep green silk ribbon, which guests slipped off the hooks as they made their way from the ceremony to cocktail hour. Our tabletop design was contemporary and elegant with crisp ivory linens, ivory ceramic chargers, deep velveteen green menus, and eye-catching crimson centerpieces.

Lambert Floral Studio accented the gorgeous floral design with celestial-inspired candle holders, which created the most  dreamy glow after the sun went down. Pendelton blankets were draped on every third chair for guests to cozy up as the night progressed. Greenery accented the string lighting overhead and created a sense of intimacy in the vast space. Sprigs of lavender were tucked in between each menu and place card with special significance for the groom’s family, who spends their summers in France at a home surrounded by lavender fields. Clusters of candles in glass vessels surrounded the dinner tables on the Ocean Meadow lawn to resemble a night sky’s constellations. Floating wax luminaries gave the pool a special glow. We reimagined the event space and instead of the band performing next to the dinner tables on the Ocean Meadow lawn, we made the unique decision to set the stage on the sun deck above the lawn. Then the band shifted directions after dinner as we welcomed guests onto the deck to dance the night away. In lieu of a traditional wedding cake, we displayed the assortment of seasonal hand pies on tiered marble stands and also encouraged guests to take pie home for a midnight snack in white boxes with custom stickers reading “Mazel Tov.”

Autumn Inspired Elegance At A Vermont Manor

An old-world manor serves as inspiration for this elegant autumn styled shoot. Wink and Willow lead the creative vision of the day, with unexpected details and sophisticated touches. Handmade invitations by Emily Rose Ink drew directly from the look of the inn’s wallpaper. A wildflower-filled ceremony arch, designed by Blomma Flicka, took life based on the venue’s seasonal flowers in bloom. J. Harper Photography told the beautiful story of the day through their imagery. Check out the full gallery for all of the inspired romance.

From J. Harper PhotographyThe team was inspired by the old-world manor The Inn At Burklyn, that has been lovingly and exquisitely refurbished, we shot at. Its pastoral vibes are such a beautiful compliment to the lavish luxuries within its walls as well as our overall design intentions that include wistful, over-the-top romance.

We knew we wanted to see bountiful, seasonal floral installations in perhaps unexpected places; the side entrance was enchanting after its columns were draped in romantic, wildflowers. Likewise, the ceremony had to offer some wildness and we took inspiration directly from the gardens, including flowers that were blooming seasonally within the massive arch.

In the 1910s, the original owner of the property decorated his favorite niece’s room with a beautiful, feminine wallpaper that was rich in traditional design including ribbons, columns, and bows. Over 100 years later, when the new owners began their renovations, rolls of this wallpaper were found in the home’s massive safe. There wasn’t enough to repaper the walls, so they had it framed and put it right back where it began: in the niece’s bedroom, now a stunning bridal suite.

Field Guide: The Ultimate New Mom Shopping List

Congratulations! Your little one is on their way!

There’s so much excitement in the preparation stage of having a baby. But knowing just what to get for your upcoming bundle of joy can be tricky waters to navigate. The world tells you that you absolutely NEED this thing and that thing and two of these things over there, and then they tell you that you absolutely have to have this brand or it’s useless. But it doesn’t have to be hard! It can totally be fun. So we gathered up some of our favorite options filtered by practicality, aesthetic and cost!

And in honor of the meme that inspired this blog, all of the items linked up have free shipping, and that’s the greatest gift we could ever bequeath to you :)

CAR SEATS

A must-have to even go home from the hospital. You’ll see all kinds of options, styles weights, and uses. Ultimately it’s up to you and your lifestyle for what type of seat works best for your family!

Infant car seat: This car seat is only for up to 35lbs typically and has a detachable base so that you can carry it around with your child. You’ll want it to be ultra-safe, light and sturdy.

Save: Chicco Keyfit 30
Splurge: UPPAbaby MESA Infant Car Seat

Carseat that grows with your child: This car seat isn’t as mobile, but takes your child from birth to booster so you can buy one and done! So while you can’t take this unit out of the car to carry your baby around, it’s pretty nice not to have to buy another one down the road.

Save: Safety 1st Grow and Go
Splurge: Maxi Cosi Pria 85 Max

STROLLERS

There is so much pressure in finding a stroller! It’s almost like picking out an infant car, and this thing will be with you for quite some time so you’re going to want to take some time to really think it through. Take into account your lifestyle needs first and foremost and it will help narrow down the options from there. Things you’ll want to look for: good wheels, good structural bones, and good, safe clips!

Travel System: This is a stroller unit that has an attachable car seat, and comes in SUPER handy when you’re wanting to transfer a sleeping baby to a stroller. These are typically a little more expensive, but the effectiveness is worth it. And they grow with your kid so it’ll be the only stroller you need for you first child! Plus, many of these travel units also come with a car seat so you can

Save: Chicco Bravo
Splurge: Bugaboo Cameleon 3

Multiple children: This is where you can REALLY start to overthink things! After having one kid, sometimes the last think you want to think about is when the next one is coming. But, if you think about this now you could possibly never have to buy another stroller and that’s worth the brainpower

Save: Evenflo Pivot Xpand Modular Travel System
Splurge: Uppababy Vista

Jogging: Jogging with baby is honestly a great way to get a workout in while also spending time with your kid. While you can get away jogging with some strollers if their wheels are big enough, you’ll really need a jogging specific stroller for this activity! You’ll need to look for three large wheels, good shocks and reclining capabilities for your little one because they will probably fall asleep.

Save: Baby Trend Manta Snap Gear Jogger Stroller, Vega
Splurge: BOB Rambler Jogging Stroller

Compact: After your kid leaves the infant stage, you’ll likely want to look into a small, easily foldable on-the-go type stroller. Many compact strollers are super convenient for travel and many of them can even fit in the overhead compartment and that’s a true luxury.

Save: Pockit Lightweight Stroller
Splurge: Babyzen YOYO+ Stroller

NURSERY

Crib: The crib is the focal point of the nursery, the place where your baby will (eventually, hang in there moms it’s coming!) sleep, and honestly it can feel like a daunting decision now that they come in all shapes, sizes, styles, and functions. Functionality is super important here and safety is always #1, but something that looks good always helps too! (also, the two we added also convert to toddler beds and that’s a win-win)

Save: Storkcraft Beckett 3-in-1 Convertible Crib White Fixed Side Crib
Splurge: Babyletto Lolly 3-in-1 Convertible Crib with Toddler Bed Conversion Kit

Mattress: A baby mattress is supposed to be a little firm, breathable and VERY cleanable. You’ll want your little one to be comfortable but not sinking in the mattress. If they start to turn over a little early, you’ll want a breathable mattress. Nightly accidents are inevitable.

Save: Serta Perfect Embrace Crib & Toddler Mattress
Splurge: Newton Baby Crib Mattress and Toddler Bed

Linens: Firstly, you’ll probably hear this a million times but your baby doesn’t need anything but a fitted crib sheet for the first year! No blankets, pillows or anything else in the crib protects them from accidental suffocation, so a fitted sheet is all you need!

Save: Burts Bees Organic Fitted Sheets
Splurge: Posh Peanut Crib Sheets

Rocking Chair: Rocking chair is a staple in any nursery. You’ll spend many evenings in this chair trying to get your little one down! So you’ll want to make sure it’s comfortable, but now they make them not only comfy but also really, really cute. There’s a pretty big difference in a rocker vs. a swivel chair, and you can read more about that below!

Save: CorLiving Aquios Bentwood Contemporary Rocking Chair
Splurge: Delta Children Emma Upholstered Rocking Chair

Swivel/ Glider Chair: While a rocking chair is back and forward, a swivel chair goes back and forward and around in circles and is more of a wavy motion. Both are effective! But the swivel makes more of a range of motion. Because of this, they typically have a skirt instead of a see-through leg look so it’s kind of down to aesthetic for what you want to choose. They’re also quite a bit more expensive.

Save: DaVinci Olive Upholstered Swivel Glider with Bonus Ottoman
Splurge: Carter’s by Davinci Adrian Swivel Glider with Storage Ottoman in Cream Linen | Water Repellent and Stain Resistant Fabric

Baskets: Baskets are every mom’s new best friend and secret weapon of organization. Nursery organization can be super intimidating because you’re dealing with new stuff you’ve never had to use before, but when in doubt — use a basket. It’s also a really great idea to keep a large basket with sturdy handles in your living room so that you can throw all your little one’s strangler items and take it back to the nursery in one big swoop. Contained messes are approachable messes! SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK.

Decorative Baskets: Cotton + Rope Basket
Diaper Station Basket: Baby Basket with Handles
Living Room Basket: INDRESSME XXXLarge Cotton Rope Basket
Dresser Storage Basket: mDesign Soft Fabric Dresser Drawer and Closet Storage Organizer Set for Child/Kids Room, Nursery, Playroom, Bedroom

Changing Station: The changing station is very underrated. Making sure you spend time on functionality here can be the difference in tackling a blowout with confidence or a scramble! The other big misconception here is that you have to get a SPECIFIC changing station. You can totally do that! Or, you can use an existing dresser you have and put a changing pad one it and viola! You have a changing station, and you saved a lot of money.

Save: Linen Perch Baby Changing Basket with Quilted Liner
Splurge: South Shore Yodi Changing Table with Drawers

Baby Monitors: You’re going to want to be really thoughtful here. A baby monitor can bring you peace of mind that can be all the difference in not only your babies sleep but yours as well!

Save: Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor with Interchangeable Optical Lens
Splurge: Owlet Smart Baby Monitor Duo (Smart Sock + Camera)

BATHTIME

Baby hygiene care is actually something you have to be pretty intentional about. You’ll want bathtime to be as safe as possible, and that includes products you use + HOW you administer the bath.

Shampoo: The caliber of what you need will heavily depend on your baby’s skin sensitivities. So keep this in mind as you choose what kind of shampoo and body wash you want to use!

Save: Johnson’s Tear Free Baby Shampoo
Splurge: Noodle & Boo 2-in-1 Newborn Hair & Baby Body Wash for Baby

Bath Gear: The right bath unit keeps your baby safe while they’re in the tub or sink! While they’re tiny, they won’t be fully submerged, these bathtime helpers keep them nice and safe.

Save: Angelcare Baby Bath Support
Splurge: Blooming Bath Lotus

Grooming: Nail trimming, hair brushing, temperature taking — these are all things that your little one will need!

Save: Royal Bunny Baby Grooming Kit
Splurge: Large Health and Grooming Baby set by Fridababy

GADGETS + GEAR

Baby Carrier: Free hands are a true luxury after having a baby, and being able to carry your baby close by AND have free hands is a God-send. There are two main types of baby carriers — a wrap and a heavy-duty option. The wrap keeps your baby close at hand, but can only hold the baby up to about 35lbs. The heavy-duty carrier is a little bulkier, but can hold your baby for much longer!

Wrap: Moby Evolution Baby Wrap Carrier
Heavy Duty: Ergobaby Carrier, Omni 360 All Carry Positions Baby Carrier

Bouncer: Bouncers/rockers allow you to set your baby down and soothe them at the same time. This is extremely helpful doing tasks like, oh you know, getting ready in the morning, cooking or the million other things you still need to accomplish with your little bundle nearby.

Save: Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker
Splurge: BABYBJÖRN Bouncer Balance Soft, Cotton

Set ‘Em Down: By now you’re getting the vibe that babies like to be held and sometimes we, as moms, have to improvise in order to get things done. These cushy options let you set your baby down on a stable, flat surface and gives them a “hug” like feeling that helps them sleep and feel snug even when you’re not holding them. There are two brands that are front runners here, and both are about the same price so it’s really dependent on what look/benefits you want.

Dock-a-tot
Snuggle Me Organic

Diaper Wastebaskets: One of our favorite scenes from Friends is when Rachel learns what this is. You don’t want stinky diapers just sitting in a normal trashcan, and getting one of these will seriously save the scent of your home. Big time.

Save: Playtex Diaper Genie Complete Diaper Pail

Nursing: Mom info you need to know! If you’re nursing, your insurance provider will likely pay for a mechanical pump! So before you pull the trigger and purchase one, see what your provider will do first. These other things are just little helpers along with the process.

Nursing Pillow: Boppy Nursing Pillow
Cover:PPOGOO Nursing Cover

High Chair: Your kiddo might not be able to sit up for a bit, but it’s a good idea to have one on hand for when they’re ready! You’ll want to look for cleanability, safety and style because honestly, it will be pretty prominent in your home.

Save: BABY JOY Convertible High Chair

PRODUCTS

Pacifiers: Do you know there are different sized pacifiers for different ages? Speaking from experience, your little one can comically gag themselves from the wrong sise one. Look for BPA free, soft and able to be linked up with a paci-clip.

Save: Philips Avent Soothie Pacifier
Splurge: BIBS BPA-Free Natural Rubber Baby Pacifier

Detergent: Knowing that your baby’s clothes make direct contact with your baby’s skin, picking a laundry detergent is really important! Plus, it smells really, really good. Baby detergent is the best.

Save: Dreft Stage 1: Newborn Hypoallergenic Liquid Baby Laundry Detergent
Splurge: Noodle & Boo Ultra Safe Laundry Essentials Hypoallergenic Plant-Based Laundry Detergent For Baby

Bottles: Picking a good baby bottle can help with the number of bubbles that your baby takes in which helps to eliminate unwanted gas bubbles. Pro tip — go ahead and get the bigger bottle! They’ll be drinking 6oz in no times and you don’t want a bunch of too-small bottles.

Save: Evenflo Feeding Classic Clear Plastic Standard Neck Bottles for Baby, Infant and Newborn
Splurge: Comotomo Baby Bottle

Diaper Bags: There are SO many diaper bag options. Like SO many. At the end of the day, you even can just use a tote bag with an insert. Good things to keep in mind: backpacks keep your hands free, your husband might end up carrying it more than you so you might want to bring him in on the convo, and you might want to start cheap to know what you want before spending big bucks to discover you might not even need one.

Save: Diaper Bag Backpack, RUVALINO Multifunction Travel Back
Splurge: Fawn Design Premium Vegan Leather Diaper Bag and Backpack

Tummy Time Mat + Play Gym: It’s so important to start tummy time as soon as possible because it helps your babies learn to use their arm muscles and chest muscles to help them flip over which can reduce the risk of SIDs. Getting one with an attached play gym helps entertain them when they’re flipped over.

Save: Sassy Stages Developmental Play Gym

CLOTHES + ACCESSORIES

Basic Onesies: When in doubt, a basic white onesie is never the wrong choice. People LOVE buying baby clothes, so the probability of people buying adorable cute little outfits is really high. But you may not get many basic onesies, and these are so good to have on hand.

Socks: Babies get COLD. And a lot of heat leaves through feet and hands. Keeping your little one’s appendages covered up and warm helps to keep them nice and cozy.

Bows: If you’ve got a little girl, bows can get REALLY expensive really fast. And you’re going to want different colors for different outfits! There are SO many options for baby bows on Amazon that are super affordable and really inexpensive for the quantity you’re receiving.

Bibs: You might think that bibs are exclusively for eating, but once those little babies start drooling you realize that bibs are a total necessity.

MOM HACKS

Doona: This is probably one of the greatest baby inventions in a long time. It’s a car seat with wheels that POP DOWN. This will last for about 8 months to a year and give you some buffer room to learn what kind of stroller you want.

Subscriptions: You can set up diaper and wipe subscriptions through Amazon which cuts down store visits and with a newborn that is invaluable.

Gripe Water: Something you’ll learn with a newborn REAL quick is that it’s going to take a while to learn WHY they’re crying. One reason for frequent tears is a lil bit of hidden gas bubbles, and this all-natural solution is literally magic. It works in seconds and can calm down colicky babies.

Burp Rags: You will go through these like crazy, so getting good, thick ones that can go in the wash is a lifesaver.

Formula Dispenser: This is amazing for bringing extra food on the go with you. You’re not going to tote around the entire bin of food, so getting a dispenser (it’s so cheap!) is a no-brainer.

Sleepy Time Playlist: This can be a soothing piano, Kacey Musgraves, Norah Jones, Jazz — whatever works best! It’s just really nice to have a playlist on hand with music that you know won’t have a major symbol strike mid-tune :)

Pacifier Clips: These are not to be forgotten — baby spits out that pacifier so fast and you reeeallly don’t want it to land on the ground and send you into a whole sanitization tizzy, so loop it up with a clip.

NICE THINGS TO HAVE

These things aren’t “needs,” but they sure are nice and handy to have early on.

Take-Home Outfit: This is a particularly special outfit to take them home from the hospital! It’s kind of an old-school tradition, but it’s really fun to look back at how tiny and cute the outfit is. And you want them to look good for their debut into the world!

Baby Book: Filling out a baby book is a great way to distract your time while waiting for baby to arrive! These books are fun to look back on and can be a sweet pass down to them.

Milestone Cards: Your little one is going to turn a month before you know it! Keep an eye out for cute ones and snag ’em when you find them so you’re prepped and ready to document each month as they come.

Big Nursery Animals: A nursery feels complete with an over-sized animal. We can’t tell you why, but it just feels *right*

Sophie: For whatever reason, every baby loves Sophie. It’s cute, it squeaks and it’s great for teething.

Wubanubs: These are the cutest little paci’s and they’re actually pretty practical too. They sit on babies belly and keep the paci within reach to latch to again which is actually really, really helpful while they’re learning to use their hands to get paci’s.

A DIY That Will Take Your Standard Mirror to the Next Level

I am IN LOVE with this project. So much so, that it just might be my favorite of all time. Ceramic floral mirrors are really popular right now but we wanted to take that trend right into Spring – and since most days I’m short on time – I wanted to simplify the project. So I gathered a variety of accessories – silk flowers, ropes, old butterfly christmas ornaments – and dipped them into paint. After you let them dry for 24 hours you can start building out your mirror. It’s that easy.

Materials

Mirror Accessories (ropes, tassels, silk flowers, butterflies, small toys, etc)
1 Quart of Paint, Flat or Matte
Mirror
Hot Glue
Bowl with medium sized mouth
Painters Tape
Newspaper
Latex Gloves
Camera or iPhone

instructions

Lay each of the accessories on your mirror until you’re settled on the finished look you want to achieve. Take a photo for reference.

Tape off the mirrored portion of your mirror using painters tape and newspaper. You want the mirror to be completely covered to protect it from stray paint. Paint the frame of your mirror and let dry completely. You might need to add another coat of paint once dried. Allow the second coat to dry as well.

Pour your paint into your bowl. If you are only using small decor items, you can use the paint can itself as the bowl. Your bowl should be sized so that you can dip each piece and submerge it completely in
the paint.

Using gloves, dip each of your accessories into the paint. You can use your fingers to cover into the areas that didn’t take the paint. Allow the paint to drip entirely off. You can use your hands to help the process along.

Set on a plastic, glass or surface that won’t stick to the paint (like paper). We used the top of a storage container. Let dry completely – 24 hours is generally good.

Referring to your photo, begin hot glueing each piece onto your mirror. Let dry then wipe the mirror clean.

Here’s Proof That Mountain Weddings and Film Photography Are a Match Made in Heaven

For an instant dose of zen, breathe in the crisp mountain air in today’s gorgeous styled shoot from Rachael Ellen Events at The Lodge at Blue Sky. From the bride’s textured, off-shoulder gown to the organic blooms that look as if they naturally sprouted right there, straight from the ground up – it’s mesmerizing to say the least. Mountain brides, prepare to fall in love with every last detail at the full gallery, all captured by Belinda Jean Photography.

From Belinda Jean Photography… Having been intrigued by The Lodge at Blue Sky for its charming aesthetic, we sought to illustrate our editorial story amidst the splendor of the mountains. Ultimately, our focus was to capture the sensual love between an Old World bride and groom in an outdoor mountain setting perfect for a destination wedding, elopement or intimate wedding. The mountain setting created pure magic for this ‘Al Fresco’ dinner! The cake features glass flowers with a beautiful bronzy gold effect enhanced in beauty by the lovely glow of sunshine from behind the table.

The old world feel was subtly incorporated into the groom’s attire with a tweed suit, the perfect touch for brisk mountain fall air. The bride’s Leanne Marshall ceremony gown featured textured ivory silk organza with a draped bodice and off-shoulder puff sleeve. Full A-line skirt with a stunning side slit. This inspirational wedding shoot features an outfit change with more formal reception attire and the bride’s delicate and feminine dress with removable sleeves for bride’s looking for glam & grace.

The dreamy golden hour light was catching the details of the mountain wedding tablescape creating a lovely ambiance. The florals looming up onto the table linen was the perfect touch of beauty for the mountain feel. The invitation suite featured is the Fragonard Suite by Ink and Press Co. Inspired by Fragonard’s exuberance, frivolilty of the subject matter and his soft carefree settings to iconic to the French Rococo style we all adore. The custom gold foil rose’ bottle label was cut into the shape of the French inspired crest seen on the invitation suite and incorporated throughout the day-of elements. Such magic comes from cohesive details! The design elements created for the invitation suite were weaved throughout details like this French shaped bottle!

Five Entertaining Rules You Should Throw Out the Window

When you get a whole grip of event planners in one setting, you better believe that party is going to be a masterpiece. And masterpiece The Planners Affair is. Started as way to get together fellow wedding creatives,  Adriana Marie Events + Pop The Cork Designs, threw a gorgeous outdoor party for all their industry friends captured by Bonnie Sen and Adora Wedding Films. Plus, they’re breaking down the 5 rules you can totally ditch when it comes to throwing a beautiful get together.

Planned by Adriana Marie Events and Pop the Cork Designs, the heart of The Planners Affair stemmed from the simple fact that as wedding planners we constantly serve others and make visions come to life, and we wanted to create an occasion where the wedding planners were treated and a community to be grown. Life is better surrounded by those who support and uplift, and we wanted to start something memorable and meaningful for the hard working woman who constantly make dreams a reality. We styled the space with a long table that sat over 40 planners and a quaint cocktail space to create genuine conversation and a friendly atmosphere that was warm and inviting. Rouge Catering provided a spectacular three course meal while Austin Ellis serenaded the group of DMV planners under the bistro lights and stars at Historic London Town and Gardens.

“You must have a seat for every person”

Dinner parties can be so much more than structure, no matter what the occasion! The biggest wedding trend I have seen pop up more and more is a good cocktail reception. It is a bit unexpected, and creates for a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Out with the structure, in with the fun!

“You must assign a seat at each table so there is no confusion amongst your guests and wait staff.”

Assigning your guests to a specific table is a must in most occasions, but assigning a seat to a table can become restricting. We assign tables for organization, but want our guests to have conversation and fun am I right? Kick off the conversation by having your guests introduce each other as they select their seating!

“Never eat with your fingers.”

Finger foods can be super fun, especially when it comes to a social gathering. Consider a creative menu that will keep your guests talking during the event both to each other and about the food experience. For The Planners Affair, we used unique and interactive pieces to the appetizers including a goat cheese ball with a dropper filled with herb infused honey. It was a huge hit, and interactive for our guests!

“You must have a proper place setting with utensils for every course.”

I am all about making my guests feel relaxed and social, even when it comes to the place settings. Incorporate some different forms of dining by involving some ethnic foods or presentations that don’t necessarily require a proper place setting. Our first course we worked with Rouge to create a delicious and unique salad course in a fun martini glass presentation.

“Make all food ahead of time, and be prepared.”

Being prepared is good, yes. But, intentionally having some items NOT prepared as your guests arrive can make for an entertainment piece for the evening. Consider having the chef make a special table side dessert such as banana flambe as a “performance” when it is time for some sweets! Keep the event lively and something that your guests will remember.

Pantry Secrets From The Pro’s Over At Maison Haven

Editor’s Note: What better time to organize your pantry than during a world-wide quarantine? The pros over at Maison Haven dished out all the details to transform your pantry into a functional and dare we say it, pretty, space!

———

Maison Haven’s stylish hacks and tips guarantee a Pinterest-perfect pantry every time

You could say pantries are our bread and butter (excuse the pun). Nothing gives us greater pleasure than a beautifully functioning pantry. We’ve transformed every size and shape imaginable from epic walk-ins to single cupboards. But no matter the scope, our approach remains the same. And now we’re sharing it with you…

1. Edit.

Skip this stage at your peril. Even the most seasoned purger is bound to find something growing moss at the back of the cupboard. Our personal best was the client with ground cumin from 1998. Weed out anything old or that you know you won’t eat (pickled herrings, anyone?). If it’s ok to eat, donate it. Whatever you do, ensure you’re creating a system for the food you actually use and love.

2. Categories are your friend.

Once you’ve purged, group items into zones like Baking, Breakfast, Dried goods, Snacks, Jars etc. Think of it as a brain map. Next time you open your pantry door, you’ll know exactly where to reach for flour, potato chips or pasta. It saves time and effort (win win).

3. Don’t just ask yourself what you eat, ask how you eat.

What’s your breakfast routine? Do cereal and snacks need to be on a lower shelf so little hands can access? Is pasta a staple? Are you eating popcorn every weekend? Rule of thumb is this: anything you’re reaching for more than twice a week needs to be prime real estate. No bending down, no reaching up high.

4. Know your storage.

Some of our tricks? Double-height turntables maximize shelf space. Risers create an extra shelf. Inserts added to baskets and drawers keep items neatly stacked. A glass jar or two next to the Nespresso machine creates a gorgeous coffee station. A couple of adjustable drawer organizers create a tea drawer. Where possible go for clear, uniform storage. Not only will it elevate the look, but you’re more likely to use what you see (plus it makes shopping for groceries so much easier).

5. Label everything (and we mean everything).

How else will the rest of your family know where the snacks live? For extra polish, we add our custom labels but chalk labels work well, too (just make sure you use white paint pens otherwise the handwriting smudges).

6. Ditch the packaging.

Yep, we love to purge plastic. Where possible we decant goods into sustainable glass containers. Items like flour, sugar, pasta and grains really lend themselves to being set free (make sure you use jars with a seal for items like flour). Pro tip: add cooking instructions to the jar. We use our custom cooking labels, but a chalk pen underneath the lid works well. Another client favorite? A Wellness Zone. We decant nuts, seeds, smoothie powders, collagen and protein mixes into pretty glass jars. Healthy snacks at your fingertips.

7. Refill system.

Do not – repeat: DO NOT – organize your pantry without a Refill zone. It’s all very well designing a beautiful system, but you need to be realistic. A too-rigid system is stifling. We always factor in a refill area for any multiples or excess. If you’re decanting pasta and have some left over, stash it in the Refill basket. Three bottles of olive oil? They go here too. Grocery store had a sale on canned tomatoes? Store the bulk in here. You get the gist. Just remember to always, always check your refills before your next grocery order.

8. Style.

One thing we’ve learnt? A space that looks beautiful is more likely to stay that way. So, make a visual statement. Consider the aesthetic. It’s why we send every client a mood board. And don’t be afraid to think outside the storage box. Pantries can be poky. In our narrowest spaces we’ve used pretty, gold magazine files to store potatoes and onions. They’re practical and they look great!

A Luxury Destination Wedding at the Newly Renovated Four Seasons in Athens

Mamma mia! Here we go again… falling in love with another drop dead gorgeous destination wedding in Greece! Today’s beautiful couple tied the knot at the newly renovated Four Seasons in Athens, complete with sweeping views of the Mediterranean. Guests celebrated the newlyweds at a waterfront reception, teeming with blooms and epic installations from Studio7. DeplanV truly brought their dreams to reality from start to finish, while Elias Kordelakos captured every swoon-worthy detail. Trust us, you don’t want to miss out on the full gallery.

From Elias Kordelakos, the photographer… A destination wedding in Greece is the ultimate dream. The sun-bathed country of the Mediterranean offers a variety of venues for every event. The wedding of Jim & Eirin was held at the newly renovated Four Seasons in Athens. Covid wouldn’t stop love from prevailing. The couple had originally planned a destination wedding with more guests but they adapted to the situation and decided to celebrate their love with their most dear ones.

Photographing a wedding during this sensitive period is not an easy task. To me, as a photographer working with a mask hiding my face was an additional obstacle I had to overcome. When taking people’s portraits, it’s helpful for them to see the photographer smiling back at them. The good thing on the other hand was that people seem to evaluate more the things we used to take for granted.

Like being close to your friends, hugging and partying together. So many feelings to capture. The venue is overlooking the sea and as Elias Kordelakos, the wedding photographer describes, has a perfect orientation as you can enjoy the sunset and have gorgeous light throughout your reception. It’s always a good idea to advise with your wedding photographer about the ideal timeline for the day. DeplanV, together with Studio7flowers created a magical installation with flowers and chandeliers for the couple’s 50 guests!

instructions

Select an edible floral or herb for your fancy ice! We love ordering from Gourmet Sweet Botanicals for the widest selection!

Grab your ice tray – or if you don’t have one (we didn’t) Bed, Bath, and Beyond has a great option that comes with a lid — no spilling!

Put 1-2 small blooms or leaves in each cube compartment.

Slowly and carefully fill with water, we used a water bottle rather than the faucet! Place in the freezer overnight

Pop out your fancy ice and into a pretty decorative bowl or right into your chilled water or cocktail! Super easy and super impactful for your next little celebration!
