Late Summer European-Inspired Wedding at Cairnwood Estate

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The color palette for this wedding included shades of peach, blush, toffee, yellow, gold, ivory, and olive green, to complement the colors of Cairnwood Estate.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The late summer golden hours of September were the inspiration behind our color palette, and Cairnwood’s European-inspired style was the perfect setting to build upon our vision for a romantic, fairytale day.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Dan & I are high school sweethearts. After dating for 9 years (4 of them long distance through college), Dan surprised me with a thoughtful, beautiful proposal at Barnegat Lighthouse in LBI. After getting down on one knee, he then surprised me even more with our families waiting at a restaurant to celebrate with us. When we walked in, the entire place began cheering for us. It was magical.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Perfect for the romantic dreamer with a love for modern luxury” is how designer Martina Liana describes this voluminous ball gown. Between the whimsical 3D floral elements, exposed corset, sparkle tulle layers, and cathedral length train – this dress had everything I could ever want. I added my own personal touch by customizing a removable tulle bow out of streamers that attached to the back of the dress and flowed into the train, and adjusting the straps throughout the day for three different looks.

I initially came across a photo of the dress online, early in my dress search. Three months and dozens of dresses later, I found myself constantly coming back to that photo. A lucky last-minute opening during a trunk show, and incredible parents willing to make the 2 hour drive to Kleinfeld’s in NYC with me, secured my chance at trying the dress on. It was love at first sight and I said “yes”! A surreal moment having grown up watching Say Yes to The Dress as a little girl.

I’ll always remember the many trips my dad and I took to my alterations appointments in the weeks leading up to my wedding. We would drive into the city, he’d patiently watch as every layer of tulle was pinned to perfection (thank you Josephine!), and we’d stop for a slice of NYC pizza before heading home![/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]My bridesmaids wore matching full-length dresses from Revelry in a gorgeous deep olive satin fabric – a neutral color with more warmth and depth to complement the overall color palette, florals, and greenery decorating the venue. The goal was a style that was elegant, modern, and could realistically be worn again. I have always loved the classic, simple silhouette of a satin slip dress and appreciated the extra support and structure Revelry’s dresses had compared to other satin options. The overall quality and opportunity for home try-ons helped ensure that my bridesmaids felt comfortable and were just as excited to wear the dresses! The flower girls matched in the kid’s midi-length version of the bridesmaids’ satin style, also from Revelry, and looked adorable![/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Dan chose a classic black tuxedo with a peaked lapel and satin bow tie for his wedding day attire. Inspired by his dad’s wedding fashion, he opted for a black satin cummerbund, but selected a tapered pant for a more modern fit. He finished his look with YSL’s Y Eau de Parfum and engraved cufflinks gifted by his bride. The groomsmen wore matching black tuxedos with black satin vests to differentiate their look from the groom’s.

The entire process was made incredibly easy by the wonderful staff at Chadmoore Formal Wear (thank you Graziano family!). This multi-generation owned shop has been our family and friends’ go-to for high school proms and special events over the years, so it was a joy to return for our wedding!

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]We kicked off cocktail hour with a flowing peach bellini tower! In lieu of a traditional champagne toast, guests raised glasses of this sweet mix of white peach juice and prosecco. This was my mom’s idea – we both love anything peach!
For signature drinks, we picked two of our all-time favorites – a Moscow Mule and a Spiked Arnold Palmer. At their seats, guests found small bottles of limoncello – generously homemade by a family friend. It has been a family tradition for years to toast his crowd-favorite lemon liqueur and was a special nod to Dan’s Italian roots.

Cocktail hour included some delicious hors d’oeuvres, such as mini lobster rolls, crab cakes, chicken sate, and tomato soup shooters with grilled cheese bites by Sage Catering. Philly cheesesteak egg rolls were a necessary addition as our families both originate from the area. Our only regret was not having the chance to eat more of the delicious filet dinner ourselves, as we ended up spending the hour making rounds to our guest tables.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Florals by Whisper & Brook Flower Co. brought my vision to life and made the stunning venue even prettier. Lush, full-bodied flowers and greenery tied the venue, bridal party looks, and design details together under one coordinating color palette. Natural, organically shaped bouquets and ‘growing’ garden arrangements throughout the venue added a romantic whimsy. A favorite focal point was airy greenery adorning the grand staircase.

A cohesive vintage gold design was kept between smaller décor details such as table numbers, bar signs, and framed photos of us over the years, as well as loved ones who could not be there with us to celebrate.

A statement piece was the 7’ standing mirror turned seating chart moment. It was a vision I had for months, which my mom, brother, and close friend helped me turn into a reality. A DIY not for the faint of heart! This mirror is now a statement piece in our living room![/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Our wedding cake from Bredenbeck’s Bakery was made up of 4 tiers, alternating between lemon cake with raspberry puree filling and butter cake with chocolate buttercream filling. The cake was decorated in simple white icing and was adorned with fresh flowers.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Ceremony: Growing up Catholic, having a nuptial mass was incredibly important to us. We exchanged our vows in the most beautiful, ornate church – Immaculate Conception in Jenkintown, PA.

Special Moment: My mother’s grandfather gave a blessing at my parents’ wedding reception. They have saved his original handwritten copy of the blessing for the last 30 years. His daughter, my grandmother, recited the same blessing at our reception for Dan and I.

First Dance Song: Dan & I chose the song “You Make Me Feel So Young” as our first dance to honor our late grandfathers, who loved Sinatra. We spent a few nights watching videos and choreographing a dance together, even practicing once in the hotel hallway the night before. We had so much fun in the days leading up to the wedding dancing around our empty new house and will always have those memories to look back on.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Dan’s wedding band was his late grandfather’s wedding band.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]A family friend generously drove us in a gorgeous vintage 1940 Packard![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]As we began to prepare for our wedding, we found out that we had actually crossed paths 6 years prior to meeting on the first day of high school, as we had made our First Holy Communion on the same exact day, in the same parish in May 2004. One of our good friends gave us an incredible gift on the night of our rehearsal when he surprised us by editing together video footage paralleling the two of us on that day. It turned out that Dan walked in right behind me! And you can see each of us in the background of frames of the other. It was a surreal moment seeing ourselves making that sacrament together over 18 years ago, just hours before we would meet at the altar to exchange our vows.[/field]

Colorful Modern Summer Wedding Filled With A Fantastic Floral Chandelier

Look up! You have to see the floral chandelier, designed by Silks a Bloom, at this show-stopping summer wedding. The picturesque day was perfectly planned by Amanda Reed to create an unforgettable experience for all, and you can feel the love and joy of the day radiating through imagery by Erin Wilson Photography. Endless inspiration awaits you inside the full gallery.

From Erin Wilson Photography… Carlley and Turner’s wedding was the most colorful fun wedding I have ever seen! Carlley is an artist, and she was so inspired by color. She worked alongside her planner Amanda Reed to create an experience for their guests that was such a wow factor.

Carlley’s dress was a show-stopper! Her dress was covered in floral applique, and the train was so unique. I love that her bridesmaids carried varying florals. Some really sweet moments at their wedding was when Carlley’s brothers walked her down the aisle. Carlley’s father has passed away, and her brothers had the honor of walking her down the aisle. Not only that but they had the sweetest first look at her. Her younger brother walked her down the first half of the aisle while her older brother walked her down the second half of the aisle. It was such a beautiful moment. After their ceremony, when they were just announced husband and wife they were greeted with a second line that lead them from their church down the street to the reception venue.

From the watercolor-like floral painting on the cake and softer romantic feeling at the dinner side of the reception to the moodier nighttime vibe of the dance floor area of the reception… everything was a moment. The floral installation over the dance floor was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It was an elevated nighttime garden party with a live band, and it was everything that represented Carlley and Turner. They served late-night snacks from their favorite restaurant, threw boas and fun goodies from the ceiling during dancing the keep the party going and their college mascot even made an appearance. It was a party for the ages. One of my favorite parts of the night was the colorful confetti send off… it was the perfect touch to their colorful day.

Wood And Rattan Elements Play With A Warm Peach And Cool Blue Palette At This California Wedding

Your search for wedding inspiration ends here. This dreamy day planned by Etched Theory Planning Co. is all the inspiration that you need. Natural wood and rattan elements perfectly play with peach-toned flowers designed by Florachic, and imagery by Studio Opia captures every magical moment perfectly. Fall in love with all of the dreamy details inside the full gallery.

From Etched Theory Planning Co.When we first met with Helen and Adam, they were a sweet couple with a vision of an intimate wedding celebration. Their warmth and hopes for hospitality for their guests inspired us to create a natural and intimate wedding theme to reflect the breezy summers in the Bay Area. With touches of the natural vineyard views and sounds of running water around Elliston Vineyards, we added wood and rattan textures and bright, warm, peached-toned flowers to contrast with the cold tone blues that Helen had selected as her wedding colors. Accents of terracotta were added to enhance the natural color scheme and to compliment the old-world tones of Elliston Vineyard’s tasting room and bridal suite. The vineyards is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Sunol. Combining elegance and intimacy with a whimsical exterior, the big friendly ostriches greet guests next to a stunning antique manor used at the tasting room with a beautiful outdoor walkway featuring a French-style fountain. Guests drank the signature cocktail, peach bourbon smash while using the polaroid to capture their good wishes to the newlyweds while also etching memories of the small details that the couple presented to express their love towards their guests.

From the bride… For our wedding, we wanted our guests to feel appreciated and truly enjoy the day! We wanted each person to feel attended to and cared for. Our planner and coordinator, Sissi Zhao and Tammy Cheng of Etched Theory Planning Co., turned our dreams into a reality. The whole wedding was personal and meaningful to us. The space was truly transformed into our dream wedding. We were pleasantly surprised by the small details and changes to the wedding space we first toured. Many thanks to the Ciness and XX Event teams who assisted with the live streaming logistics so that our families in China were able to be a part of the wedding from the ceremony to the dinner festivities. Due to COVID-19, our families regrettably were not able to attend the US-based wedding. Inkinity Studio created a custom frame seating chart installation. We now use it as decoration in our home to preserve the precious memories with our friends throughout the evening!

We have many favorite moments, from the natural floral arrangements from Florachic. Our artistic wedding cake designed by Trizia Cake came together flawlessly with the rest of the décor and design. We were happy to share this sweet dessert with all of our close friends. Hongshen (the groom) and I were overwhelmed with joy throughout the whole day. It was everything we could have hoped for! From the flowers, cake, welcome table to the seating chart wall, reception and the chandeliers, every detail was perfectly executed. Our photographer, Studio Opia, made us feel so comfortable. They always can find the most artistic angles and views, while also taking special care to capture every detail. My makeup artist, Rachel, focuses on every detail of the wedding look. I’ve never felt more pretty and charming. She had such a large responsibility from the early hours of the morning to help me feel reassured and enjoying the morning getting ready. We genuinely felt like we were getting ready with a close friend. We were so appreciative and grateful to be able to work with such an amazing team of talented vendors! Our wedding day has been the most perfect day of our lives so far, we will continue to look back on the day with fine memories in all aspects.

A Classic Wedding Day Full of Sentimental Details at Greencrest Manor

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Pale Blue, Cream, Forest Green[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Abby and Quinn wanted a classic wedding day full of sentimental value to keep things feeling nostalgic all day long! The personal details were abundant – for example, the bride wore her grandmother’s garter that’s been passed to all of her cousins, her dad gifted Quinn his wedding band (a custom Claddagh ring from Ireland, similar to Abby’s father and mother’s own Claddagh rings) as a way of giving his blessing, and her godfather and uncle played the bagpipes at their wedding mass. He’s a member of the Philadelphia Pipes and Drums (they service Philadelphia police officers and fire fighters), and since Abby’s deceased grandfather was a Philadelphia police officer, bagpipes are a significant symbol in their lives. After mass, Abby and Quinn rode in the same Ford Model A that her parents used on their own wedding day! Guests then headed to a reception full of dreamy design notes that evoked a classic feel: a black and white checkered dance floor, soft shades of blue mixed into the all-white color palette, and lush greenery and clustered chandeliers dangling from the ceiling. An all-night dance party and classic Chicago-style hot dogs made for the ultimate party vibes for the evening!

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Intro / How we Met / background context:
Have you ever heard of the old saying of “When You Know, You Know”? People may question the concept of fate or if a couple has known each other long enough to confidently say “I have met the one” – but Quinn and Abigail may beg to differ. Abigail and Quinn knew within 4 weeks of dating that they had met their future spouse and when asked by their family and friends “how do you know?” they both responded with “When You Know, You Know. Right?”

Abigail and Quinn’s relationship was built off of the similarities of their families, their values, the way they were raised, along with their mutual friends and common interests. Abigail and Quinn dated for 1.5 years before getting engaged and over that time, a relationship was not just built between the two of them, but also between their two families. Abigail’s family of 7 (mother, father and 4 siblings) and Quinn’s family of 6 (mother, father and 3 siblings) built an incredibly unique friendship and bond based on the same similarities that built their own relationship. “We realize it could be considered an anomaly for in-laws to get along so well and to genuinely want to spend time with each other – for that reason, we feel so incredibly blessed!”

Engagement Story:

Abigail and Quinn were engaged on January 2, 2021 in Park City, Utah. They were in Park City for a New Years wedding, which served to be the perfect distraction as an engagement was the last thing Abigail would have expected that weekend. On January 2nd, Abigail was under the impression that they were going snow-mobiling for the day followed by a spa treatment (a Christmas present from Quinn). The morning of, Abigail and Quinn along with two of their friends drove out to a scenic destination in Park City where a beautiful Barn sat. As they approached the Barn, all that was on Abigail’s mind was “wow, how beautiful of a setting and barn is this for snowmobiles” (ha!) and Quinn was quiet as a church mouse, but you will come to find out that it was for fair reason… Upon approaching the barn, Quinn instigates taking a picture with Abigail in front of the scenery, at which point he turns to her with eyes filled with tears, gets down on one knee and pops the ultimate question. This was an indescribable moment filled with tears, hugs, laughter and love shared amongst Abigail and Quinn alongside their best friends who witnessed it. But it does not stop there…. upon getting engaged, Abigail and Quinn facetimed their families to share the good news and were greeted with another incredible surprise as their two families were together! Quinn’s family traveled up to Michigan to be with Abigail’s family for the entire week in advance of their engagement to celebrate New Year’s together and to be together for this special moment. It was the cherry on top of it all![/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]As I went into dress shopping, I had a very clear vision of the type of dress I was looking for – I was looking for a ball gown style dress that was bright white and very crisp (no jewels or lace), with a sweetheart or off the shoulder neckline. I did not waver from this & my vision stood true as my wedding dress was the 3rd dress I found on. I knew instantly this was the one, but was still debating on going to my other dress appointments. However, while I had my dress on, a song came played in the bridal store that held sentimental meaning to Quinn and I (and still does to this day). I knew this was a sign, tears started to flow, and I easily committed to saying yes! I kept the dress on for another hour or so and tried on accessories, and came upon the most stunning veil that added the perfect whimsical touch I was looking for through cascading embellished flowers that filled the bottom of the veil. Come to find out that this veil was also made by the designer, Lela Rose – yet another sign that this was all meant to be![/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]My favorite color is blue, and I wanted to incorporate blue into the wedding design and décor as much as possible. But given that our wedding was black tie, I wanted to ensure that the shade of blue and overall style of the bridesmaid dresses were very chic, classic, and timeless. I looked for bridesmaid dresses for months until I came upon Bella Bridesmaids who carried bridesmaid dresses by the designer Amsale that fit exactly what I was looking for; a crisp ice blue colored dress with a thick twill fabric but also offered varying necklines to accommodate different style preferences of the bridesmaids. [field title=”Florals & Decor”](From the design team):
We knew from the moment we met Abby and Quinn that the floral and design of their special weekend needed to match their incredibly contagious zest for life. Abby’s specific color palette featured airy white with whimsical greens and touches of sky blue. For personal florals, we kept them understated and simple with babies breath clutch bouquets in order to allow the clean-lines of the bridal party dresses to truly sing. The church was already so stunning, and simply needed small touches of fresh babies breath on the ends of each pew. By far, the biggest design element of their weekend was the fantastic ceiling installation inside the Celebration House at Greencrest Manor – we knew that they wanted a “WOW” factor that would blow guests away and create an enchanting atmosphere to promote an evening of pure celebration! We paired vintage crystal chandeliers with organic draping greenery, sheer white fabric touches, and dreamy white cascading blooms to create a canopy of magic above a bold checkered black-and-white dance floor. The tabletops brought this design element down low for guests to enjoy – with fluffy babies’ breath garland, mixed flickering candlelight, and textural blooms. For tabletop rentals, we paired clean and crisp white linens with modern gold-rimmed charger plates, brushed gold flatware, french blue goblets, and menu cards with calligraphed ribbon detail for place cards. With this particular design… the tiniest details made the biggest impact! Because their larger guest count exceeded the limits of the reception space, we ran a clear-top tent alongside the back to house multiple bar areas and ancillary guest seating. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”][/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The bride’s godfather and uncle, Bobby Smith, played the bagpipes at their wedding mass. He is in the Philadelphia Pipes and Drums (they service Philadelphia police offers and firemen). The bride’s deceased grandfather was a Philadelphia police officer, so the bagpipes are a significant symbol in their life.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]After the wedding mass was complete, Quinn and I walked outside the church and there was an old Ford Model A out front of the church. My parents got married in this car and we took an identical picture to their picture on their wedding day in the car! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The bride’s parents gifted the couple their wedding champagne flutes that have Claddagh rings etched in crystal. Quinn’s wedding band was a gift from the bride’s dad – a custom made Claddagh ring from Ireland. Her dad’s wedding ring and her mom’s ring are both Claddagh rings. This was her dad’s way of giving Quinn his blessing before he proposed. Every sibling in the bride’s family has a Claddagh ring![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The bride wore her grandmothers garter that has been passed down to all cousins. [/field]

French Garden Wedding at Château de la Bourdaisière

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Zoe and Leeyen wanted the design to feel romantic, French, and timeless. To create this look, we opted for soft shades of blush and rose paired with classic neutrals. The soft palette allowed the historic chateau and gardens to shine while adding a soft, feminine touch to the overall look.

Organic Glam and Thousands of Vibrant Flowers in Lowcountry

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The usual dressings for a Charleston summer wedding of a luscious green and white backdrop were nowhere in sight as this couple ran toward a luxe blend of rich fall and summer colors. There were pops of plums, yellows, lush greens, vibrant purples, rich golds, and soft blush accents.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Farris and Tyler tied the knot at Lowndes Grove on September 17th, 2022. The weekend successfully blended the groom’s outdoorsy nature and the bride’s glamorous quality. The couple emphasized this balance between organic and luxe with every design choice. Each turn of the evening needs to be layered with great music, ambiance, vibrant floral installations, and rich elemental details.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]While Tyler was attending pharmacy school and Farris was attending medical school, they often found themselves frequenting the university gym together. After Farris matched to her top anesthesiology program on Match Day, Tyler proposed. The couple had the ultimate task of planning a wedding and starting their careers in healthcare at the height of the pandemic. The love of their friends and family was evident throughout the lively reception. Then, finally, the couple rode off in the backseat of a vintage convertible to begin their lives as husband and wife. For the rest of the guests, the evening concluded with a nightcap cocktail at Charleston’s oldest bar, Henry’s. In keeping with the couple’s attention to detail, a fashionable Southern brunch was hosted by the bride’s aunt and uncle in the courtyard at Frannie and the Fox inside Hotel Emeline. Each guest received a farewell gift of a white monogrammed baseball hat.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]You can’t help, but smile when you see Crystal & Jason’s colorful and festive wedding. Crystal & Jason had a bright and cheery wedding with shades of pink and bold florals everywhere. It was so colorful, you would think their fall Texas wedding was in the spring! From the bride: “Our vision was whimsical, garden inspired wedding decor with blushes, pinks, hints of corals and peaches”. Hanging greenery and disco balls set a festive tone for the reception. The design all came together perfectly thanks to her wedding planner, Bianca Nichole & Co.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the bride Crystal: “Jason proposed on August 7, 2021! He asked Crystal to go to dinner and then to have a picnic by the lake. After dinner, he took Crystal along the lake into an area that was very sentimental to her. This was the exact location where she first saw a picture of Austin that made her fall in love with the idea of living there. Tears were flowing well before the actual proposal, and then Jason popped down on one knee and asked her to be his wife!”[/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The seating chart was a collaborative dream between the bride, her planner,
Bianca Nichole and Co and the stationer, Design to Flourish. It was the perfect addition to the garden inspired wedding, with the script Love in Full Bloom at the top of the seating chart to greet guests as they made their way to the ceremony site. Every guest got their own unique flower, a thoughtful gift from the bride and groom. Beautiful garden inspired florals from Whim Hospitality filled the reception space and lined the entrance of their ceremony. A pink petal toss concluded their sweet ceremony as the newlyweds walked down the aisle. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]In line with the bride’s pearl details, very tiny pearls dotted the whole cake which looked almost like water droplets along the icing. It was a night that their guests will never forget. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]From the bride: “Our love story begins in the Summer of 2012 in New York City. It’s short and simple; we met drunk at a bar! We both left that rooftop that day feeling overwhelmed that our lives were about to change after meeting. We dated for about a year and a half until we impulsively decided to quit our jobs, pick a random city on the map and just move, ultimately deciding on Dallas, TX. Within weeks of this decision we packed up our homes & headed to Texas where we decided to build our lives and eventually moved to Austin, TX!”[/field]

Bold Pops Of Bougainvillea-Inspired Pink At This Flora Farms Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The whole ceremony had a white and green focus. Because I liked too many different motifs that didn’t exactly go together, my planner and I decided to use my love of classic greens and whites for the ceremony colors and then save the bright, vibrant décor for the reception. It gave the ceremony a more formal feel and then gave the guests an explosion of color for the reception. For once, my inability to make decisions paid off!

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

We knew we wanted Cabo and had heard great things about Flora Farms. The minute we walked in, we knew it was for us. All of the nature, greenery, and flowers that surrounded the venue were exactly the kind of timeless look we wanted. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful backdrop for our special day. I didn’t know what I wanted going into the planning process. However, after months of saving pictures on Instagram, I realized the common theme between them all was the bright, Bougainvillea-inspired pink accents. We wanted to highlight the bright colors of Mexico and use the colors to create a less formal, more vibrant atmosphere for the night.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

We met through mutual friends at a bar in Newport Beach. We dated for 3 ½ years before we got engaged. JP proposed in March of 2021. We were at one of our favorite restaurants on the Big Island of Hawaii, and he proposed at sunset in a secluded place of the restaurant. My family was waiting there after we got engaged to have a celebratory dinner together.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

I wanted my bouquet to be white and green and very small and understated. I also wanted something unique for the ceremony floral arrangements, so my planner (ingeniously) thought to create a garden-like pathway of single white flowers that lead guests to their seats for the ceremony. Each flower was individually planted into the ground for the day. It was stunning and better than I could’ve imagined.

The band and our photographer were our single biggest expenses outside of food and beverage. We also splurged a bit regarding our custom dancefloor – and it was worth it. Our planner modeled it after the flora and fauna found in Flora Farms’ own gardens, as well as taking some inspiration from floral Dior boxes.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Once your wedding day/weekend is here, just absorb it. Trust in yourself, your partner, planner, vendors, etc. that all of the hard work has paid off and now is your moment to reap the rewards. The minute JP and I got in the car to head to the airport for the wedding weekend; we were on cloud nine. The moment we saw that people had come to Mexico to celebrate us, the gratitude took over, and everything else was just icing on the cake. I would also recommend 1000 times over to have all of your guests stay at the same hotel. We made a point to choose a hotel that everyone could afford, and it paid off. Being able to spend more organic, informal time with our guests throughout the weekend was such a blessing. We don’t get to see a lot of them on a regular basis, so it was an extra treat to run into them at breakfast and grab a drink with them by the pool. We really tried to make the most of every second of the weekend.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]If you could sum up your wedding day in one sentence, how would you describe it? Legendary![/field]

A Classic Black and White Wedding at the Farmhouse on Green Bluff

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The couple decided to stick with classic black and white colors with a lot of greenery and candles. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]An Elegant, timeless and romantic wedding style. Valentine tried to keep all her details at the one color theme and style.
”There’s something special about spring weeding. While planning this beautiful day, we
were constantly inspired by everything that comes alive in the spring. Fresh spring air,
gentle colors, and timeless scenery. Our approach to the wedding planning was “less is
more” intentionally keeping the focus on our beautiful location and magic atmosphere
filled with pure emotions. It was always a dream of ours to have a small outdoor
intimate wedding, celebrating our love with the closest people in our lives.”[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the bride
”Our story began on a quiet evening in the heart of Spokane Washington. Throughout
several years, Marat and I sat 4 feet away every Sunday morning wondering about each
other and waiting for the right time to get to know one another. Beautiful timing is a
concept that we both had to experience in our lives. There was a period when I was
interested and a period where he was curious, however only a few years later at a very
random red light a conversation between two strangers reviled that strangers we are no
more. During one of the beautiful September evenings, we were taking a walk
downtown Spokane by the Riverfront Park next to the gorgeous waterfall where Marat
and I decided to trust each other with our hearts. This place became very sentimental to
both of us. Six months later a sunny Sunday afternoon Marat took me to the Riverside
Park for a little photoshoot which I wasn’t expecting. To my surprise, the park was
empty and the only people there were him and I. Knowing how nervous he gets on
special occasions, I knew he was up to something. He began saying many beautiful
things about our relationship and the last 6 months together. When the moment came,
he asked a very simple question to which I had a very definite answer “Yes”. Sam place,
bigger promise.”[/field]

why I loved this dress the moment I saw it, was because this specific gown allows each
bride to be the focus point, highlighting her most beautiful features. Camila gown is also
timeless. Our vision was to combine elegant and classic aspects which together can last

Jackson vine was the perfect canvas for gentle white garden flowers to pop.
To complete my bridal look I had a few ideas for my bouquet. My beautiful simple gown
was nothing less than perfect on its own however, I felt that a fun mixture of garden
flower will add a charming ambiance to the whole look. Anthesis Brides brought to live a
stunning, soft, romantic bouquet that matched the rest of the wedding florals, however

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The Farmhouse on Green Bluff
Soon after the proposal we began our venue search. We had an open mind with just a
few requirements. Our ideal venue had to have beautiful view, a simple outdoor
ceremony location and could fit around 100 guests. At the time, my sister directed us to
a venue that was still under construction in Green Bluff area. Located 30 minutes
outside of Spokane, Green Bluff is surrounded by beautiful scenery. When we arrived to
The Farmhouse on Green Bluff, Crystal was great at helping us visualize everything she
had planned for this venue to be. At the time we were able to see the main white barn,
however all other additions were still under construction. My faïence and I were able to
see the potential this venue had and decided to put out trust in Crystal which was one
of the best decisions. Months later when spring was approaching, Crystal invited us over
to see all the amazing progress and it did not disappoint. We were able to view the
bridal suite, the terrace, ceremony location on a beautiful green lawn, and additionally
the groom’s suite which originally was not planned. We were over the moon the have

15 Tips for Writing Your Own Wedding Vows

Nothing resonates with hearts of today’s brides and grooms like personalized wedding services. More and more, we see personalized touches everywhere— from hand-painted wedding flowers on custom invitations to designer welcome bags and place settings with the most exquisite calligraphy. Of all the ways to personalize a wedding, nothing could be more personal than writing your own wedding vows.

A union is created with words and wedding vows, insists Laura of The Paris Officiant, “are the heart and climax of every wedding ceremony.” But how do you pull off personal vows with style and grace? How do you write clear, beautiful vows that contain real promises and elicit real emotion? How do you make those vows sparkling, sincere—and not the least bit sappy? We promise those perfect-for-you vows are just within reach, and we might just make you fall in love with the writing process, with the help of some very talented wedding insiders who have all the best tips!

Photography | Sophie Epton

1. Decide If Personal Vows Are Right For You

As with any other wedding-related decision, the decision to write your own vows is something you must come to personally. You will likely know, deep down, if personal vows are right for you simply because you have a strong desire to write them. But if you aren’t feeling so settled in your choice, look to other areas of your life for affirmation. Ask yourself, do you have a powerful response to poetry and literature? Do you love to write and receive letters? Do you feel your best when you are creatively or personally expressed? Writing your vows should feel like a natural extension of who you are. And if you are wondering how personal vows will influence your ceremony, know that it will only be for the sweeter: “Self-written vows make the ceremony more personal, emotional, and genuine,” reflects Laura of The Paris Officiant. “Choosing your own words for your personal promises and saying them out loud can make the commitment feel more thought-through, deliberate, and stronger.”

2. Ask For a Blessing

Before you give yourself over to the writing process, know that you may first need to obtain a blessing from your officiant and/or your church. Some faith practices disallow the use of personal vows and expressions; others will require that you recite the vows traditional to your faith practice prior to saying your own.

If it is necessary to say traditional vows, but you still long for a more personal form of expression, Julie of Elysium Productions has a beautiful idea for you! Know that “you can always [say] your own private vows to each other during your first look or after the ceremony in some quick alone time!” promises Hill. In addition to enhancing your wedding day experience, these intimate moments lend themselves to being beautifully captured on camera and film.

Photography | Lauren Fair Photography

3. Establish Framework

Once you have decided to write your personal vows, you may want to have a discussion with your partner. Take the time to talk about the planned length, format, tone, and scope of your vows. While you will likely want to keep the details of your vows private, you may find it helpful to establish a common framework, and set a shared tone for the vows. You’ll be spared the embarrassment of writing vows that just don’t vibe—imagine, for instance, if you recited selections from Whitman and your fiancé told jokes for three minutes. We mean.

If you can’t bear the thought of discussing your vows with your partner, but still want them to feel complementary, know that you can turn to your officiant for support. “I understand if the couple has the wish that their vows are not too different,” empathizes Laura of The Paris Officiant, “and I am happy to help with that in case they want to keep their vows a secret.”

Photography | Erich McVey

4. Create A Beautiful Writing Process

Once you’ve done a bit of research, fully embrace the creative process, and make that process beautiful. Go somewhere where you can retreat. Light a candle. Pour a glass. Play a bit of classical. Set a gentle, creative mood. It’s so easy to feel pressured to write ‘perfectly,’but there’s no room for anxiety in your creative process. With your essential oils diffusing and your cool-girl playlist on, you’ll be able to write from a relaxed state. You’ve got this.

In this reflective space, you get to be nostalgic as you like, and you can let your mind drift to dreams of the future. Laura of The Paris Officiant echoes this need for a safe and non-critical creative space; “start with a very free brainstorming,” Laura urges, “and write down everything that comes to your mind—without judgement.” Reflective analysis can and will come later; for now, free yourself from self-critique. Relax and allow your expression. View this time as a kind of luxury—a chance to let go of wedding planning (and other) stresses and simply connect.

5. Take Time

Now that you’ve dedicated time to your writing, it’s time to walk away. Give your ideas time to rest. Take a walk, or take a weekend. Once you’ve finished your first draft, “put it aside for a few days,” encourages Laura of The Paris Officiant, “Then read your draft once more with a bit of distance to see if that’s really what you wanted to say.” Know that the time you take off isn’t wasteful; you will return to your writing refreshed, with a renewed sense of clarity and a deepened understanding of what you want to say.

6. Look to Literature

In one of our favorite- ever onscreen wedding scenes—from the movie Love Story— Ali MacGraw’s Jenny Cavalleri and Ryan O’Neal’s Oliver Barrett say some stunningly personal vows. Jenny recites a sonnet from Elizabeth Barrett Browning—with the hauntingly beautiful opening lines, “When our two souls”—and Oliver responds with a passage from Walt Whitman’s “Song of the Open Road” that ends with question– really an invitation– “Shall we stick by each other as long as we live?” The silence that follows is dear—as though no one wants to intrude on the moment with words of their own. It was an iconic movie moment, notable for its restraint; while we usually think of weddings in terms of visual beauty, this was an instance where the vows—and really, only the vows—mattered.

When it comes to writing your vows, look to literature. Steep yourself in poetry. Leave behind the usual choices (unless they are your favorites) and seek out rare poems, passages, and authors. Poetry is intimate and, when read well, creates a powerful moment that transcends the couple and reaches out to include the audience.

7. Read Old Letters

If you have kept a journal over the course of your relationship, mine it for treasures! Look back on pivotal moments and memories. Read prayers that you may have written for your husband or wife. You won’t want to isolate your audience with too-personal details, but do use elements of your experience. That experience belongs to you and only you, and therein lies its beauty.

Photography | Esther Funk Photography

8. Say a Blessing

Instead of trying to summarize your love story, consider writing your vows in the form of a blessing. There is something so powerful about offering up a prayer and speaking a blessing over your union, in the presence of many witnesses. Consider the power of a spoken blessing as you read these words written by John O’Donohue:

“Though the words are intoned on a particular day on a special occasion, the light of the blessing reaches towards them from eternal time where memory and future live within one circle. The blessing of the journey already knows more about the journey than the new couple do… all beginning risks the unknown; a blessing was intended to be a shelter of light around the pilgrim and place. A blessing brightens the road; the heart is no longer completely vulnerable to the dark.”

Photography | Meiwan Wang

9. Speak About the Trials

Nothing grows love and intimacy like adversity. As you write your vows, don’t be afraid to reflect on the hard things you have walked through—together or separately. Few things you write can be truer. The deeper the sorrow, the greater the joy there is to be had—and you will be feeling that so completely when you arrive at your wedding day. Express what it means to have made it through pain to this moment of healing, beauty, and union.

10. Incorporate Your Faith And/Or Cultural Heritage

Your love story, while wonderful in its own right, is delicately interwoven with so many other aspects of your personhood. As you write your vows, consider ways to infuse elements of your faith and/or cultural heritage into your vows. Many couples, notes Montorio, “incorporate Bible quotes or a prayer or words in a different language or a saying/proverb from their cultural background into their vows” and these inclusions add richness, texture, and context to their vows and the promises they make.

Photography: Laura Gordon Photography

As you research your ancestry and background, you could take the opportunity to connect with family. Have tea and share stories with a grandmother or great-aunt. You just might find a pearl– a story, a tradition, or lesson from your faith. Place it with loving care into your vows– it will be a sweet tribute to the love and legacy that formed you.

11. Remember Your ‘Why’

If you find yourself struggling to write your vows, just look to your everyday life; endless inspiration waits there. Think of the person you love, and what his or her presence means to you on a normal day. If you need a reminder, be intentional about spending a little time together. Go on a walk, or out to dinner, or if you are lucky, take a little trip. Simply delight in being in each another’s presence. Notice the little things—the way he smiles when he spots you in a crowd, or, in the words of a favorite poet, “the way her hands dismantled bread.” You don’t have to look far for inspiration; you have everything you need, in the here and now.

Photography | Lauren Balingit

12. Familiarize Yourself

Give your vows the gift of your preparation. Practicing your vows will give you peace of mind and calm a case of wedding-day nerves. Memorization is optional (just be sure and keep a vow book with you just in case!) but familiarization is non-negotiable. You want to be able, at certain points in your vows, to look up from your vow book and speak directly to your partner. To lock eyes. To speak to the soul. These promises should feel innate, and if you spend time getting acquainted with them, they will.

Photography | Lauren Fair Photography

13. Feel It All

…But don’t think you have to stay on script and prevent any breaks of emotion. Laura of The Paris Officiant encourages brides and grooms to feel whatever emotions rise as they say their vows: “Don’t be scared to get emotional and show your feelings,” she says reassuringly, “Nobody expects you to stay cool and composed on your wedding day.” Your emotional response will doubtless touch others as well; though she has presided over countless ceremonies, Laura feels that “[e]very self-written personal wedding vow is unique and special.” She adds, “I often find myself tearing up when my couples read their vows because I feel their words come directly from their hearts.”

Photography | Erich McVey

14. Prioritize Emotions AND Visuals

When most of us plan our weddings, we are consumed with the visual. We plan tables, linens, florals, and décor with painstaking care. But what if, throughout the planning process, we brought just as much thoughtful attention to the emotions and intentions surrounding the wedding day? Before the wedding, reflects Julie of Elysium Productions, “it is all about the visuals for the couple,” but afterwards “it is all about the experience…. and that’s where those personal vows come in… while the visual things are great, they go away as soon as the event is over and all that is left is the memory of the experience.”

In every wedding she officiates, Laura of The Paris Officiant also recognizes this dance between the visual and the intangible. But words alone, she notes, have the power to transform: “A wedding above all means pronouncing promises which make a couple step over a threshold. This happens during a wedding ceremony. Before the ceremony they are a couple, lovers, friends… after the ceremony they are husband and wife. This transformation happens through words, meaning, and emotion.”

15. Keep Forever

Finally, if you really want to create vows that last forever, consider how to preserve them. If you have commissioned a fine art stationer to create a custom illustration, then consider having your wedding artwork printed on a beautiful vow book or stationery. Emily  of Emily Mayne Studio can envision her custom artwork—for instance, an “elaborate and elegant botanical motif that highlights [the couple’s] wedding flowers”—printed on a hardcover vow book or exquisite stationery. Using custom artwork for multiple purposes like the vow book “not only creates a cohesive and intentional design throughout your wedding day, but the pieces I create are designed to be opened and appreciated just as much tomorrow as they will be years from now when you’re sharing your wedding with your children.” This artwork transcends the wedding day and can become a fixture in your lives—and your children’s lives (just imagine your someday daughters playing ‘wedding’ dress-up and asking to see your vow book.) “[W]hat a tangible way to not only share artwork with the bride and groom’s family and friends, but to also create a lasting keepsake for years to come,” says Emily—and we couldn’t agree more.

Your Wedding and Chandon – The Perfect Pairing

Choosing a venue for your wedding is one of the first things you should check off your to-do list. And now, more than ever, it’s important to find an all-inclusive venue, somewhere you can hold the ceremony and reception, and heck, even the rehearsal dinner (trust us, your guests will thank you for not making them bounce between locations). Well, we’ve found just the place and it’s in scenic Napa wine country – Chandon (yes, that Chandon). Not only does the winery sport the quintessential vineyard views, their whimsical garden space and the winery itself were designed specifically to host weddings. Whether you want to take advantage of Cali’s perfect weather and go for an outdoor ceremony, shaded by 100-year-old oak trees with views of the valley, or welcome your guests into one of Chandon’s unique indoor spaces, they’ve got something for everyone.

IMMERSE YOUR GUESTS IN NAPA WINE COUNTRY

These days, couples are more focused on the wedding experience as a whole, and what better way to show your guests a good time in Napa, than to immerse them in the wine culture. Instead of your typical cocktail hour, consider treating your guests to a one-of-a-kind wine tasting or a tour of the property. Chandon also has a mixologist on-site that works one-on-one with the couples and creates custom sparkling cocktails featuring Chandon’s famous sparkling wine. Plus, there are plenty of killer photo ops that will keep your guests busy until you’re ready to get the party started.

FAMED CHEF BRINGS FARM TO TABLE

They’ve obviously got the drink situation covered, but what about the food? Well, Chandon brought on renowned Chef de Cuisine, Juan Cabrera to give couples a completely custom dining experience. The chef works directly with the couples and the sommelier to create wine pairings to go with each course–it doesn’t get more luxe than that!

KEEP THE PARTY GOING

Don’t want the party to end? It doesn’t have to. Chandon also hosts post-wedding brunches so you can keep the party going. Give your guests the send-off they deserve and treat yourself to a good meal before you get whisked away on your honeymoon. And while the brunch cocktails are sure to be a hit, with the region’s freshest ingredients, their juice bar is a thing to behold!

Follow @chandonusa on Instagram to see how other couples are making the most of this beautiful venue and for some mouth-watering dishes that the foodie in you will love!

Endless Inspiration In Shades Of Pink On The French Riviera

In the fabulous French Riviera is the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, the home of a styled shoot hosted by Amanda Virga of AMV Weddings. Amanda began planning and designing creative retreats in 2021 to provide wedding photographers the chance to reconnect with their passion and purpose while creating some of the world’s most swoon-worthy inspirational imagery. Featuring a team of talented photographers, Lucy Munoz from California, Andreas Georgiou from Cyprus and Katie Grant from Australia, this dreamlike imagery will inspire you. Floral design by Miss Rose By Perrine is the exclamation mark on the day. Visit the full gallery to fall in love with all of the special moments and carefully curated details.

From AMV Weddings… Among well-kept lawns and cypress avenues on the stunning peninsula of Cap Ferrat is Villa Ephrussi, the most monumental villa of the French Riviera and a symbol of la Belle Epoque. This was the privileged setting where our love story unfolded. We wanted to balance the formal politesse of a luxury affair and the playful indulgence of an exuberant modern couple who also wants to have fun. In the Cote d’Azur, after all, luxury, art and fun intertwine! The challenge was bringing to life something that balances elegantly between the opulent and the intimate.

As guests enter the villa through its “patio couvert” a covered patio inspired by a cruise ship’s atrium, they immediately find themselves immersed in the French garden. The large parterre is split by water features dancing to Strauss’ music. This was the perfect setting for our dining area. Designed by Amanda Virga of AMV Weddings with florals by Miss Rose By Perrine, the pink tones of the tablescape echoed the pink marbles of the villa’s walls, making the entire dinner area feel organically connected to the space.

The cake area completed the dinner setup and the sweetheart table in similar tones. Next to the dining area is the Italian Garden. The ceremony took place here, overlooking the bay where the spraunciest of travellers moor their super-yachts. The isle and arch were conceived to make an immediate visual impression. Our bride walked ceremonially down a vast horseshoe-shaped stairway and through an isle of pastel florals. Indeed, here the salty tang from the sea combines with the scent of hundreds of roses and creates a multisensory experience that cannot be described but as “the quintessence of true luxury”. The sun poured in through the arch illuminating our bride’s gown. The voluminous frothy tulle dress by Nesty Odina was the ideal choice; delicate yet strong, pure yet sexy. The bridal look was completed by a statement headpiece by Megan Therese.

Virginia Floral Garden Wedding In Fun And Festive Sorbet Tones

[section title=”The Planning”]

The colors were yellow, peach, tangerine, creams, and dusty blue.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

From the bride… Our style is fairly traditional, elegant, refined but also fun, and colorful. We were inspired by the beautiful property and scenery of Clifton Inn and aimed to amplify the “garden feel” with our florals. I would describe our wedding as garden chic – elegant, timeless, overflowing with florals, and very welcoming. We added bistro lighting and crystal chandeliers to the tent for a touch of elegance and to compliment our crystal tablescape design. Our top priority for our wedding day was creating an environment for our guests to have fun and celebrate with us. While planning our wedding weekend, we kept our guests top of mind, as we wanted our guests’ experience to be unforgettable too. We wanted to set the tone for the remainder of the event at cocktail hour. Between our fun design elements of having our custom crest blown up on our cocktail hour bar, lounge seating, and having live jazz music, we were hoping our guests would let loose and start having fun before the kick-off of our reception.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Connor and I met through mutual friends at the University of South Carolina in 2015. While our paths had crossed many times during our years in undergrad, it wasn’t until our senior year that we finally connected. After a year of long-distance directly following our graduation, we both made the move to Washington D.C. to be closer together and continue our professional careers. In October 2020, Connor planned a trip to Charlottesville, Virginia for us to visit some friends and enjoy the wineries. Connor proposed while at King Family Vineyard with the Blue Ridge mountains peeking through the clouds behind us, which was equally surprising & romantic. After getting engaged in Charlottesville, we knew we wanted our wedding there. The same night we got engaged, Connor and I googled “wedding venues in Charlottesville” and immediately fell in love with Clifton Inn. The beautiful grounds and views of the Blue Ridge mountains were a perfect backdrop for our ceremony. We loved that we were able to have our immediate family and closest friends stay on the property for the duration of our wedding weekend. With many of our friends and family residing in different states, it was so special to have everyone together in one place and truly made the weekend feel like it was more than just one day and a mini-vacation for all of us.

While dress shopping, I was very torn between getting a fitted or an A-Line dress. I really loved both styles but was having a hard time finding a dress that really felt like “me”. Once I put this dress on, I knew it was the one! I had never seen a wedding dress like this before with the fitted silhouette but also having an overlay that made the dress more A-Line (best of both worlds for me)! I loved the delicate chiffon lace and the cap sleeves. The dress was romantic, matched our garden party aesthetic, and was unique with the almond undertones and the long train overlay skirt.

The bridesmaids wore soft, French blue Jenny Yoo chiffon dresses from Bella Bridesmaids. The styles were mismatched within the same blue shade, creating a beautiful and romantic mix and setting the backdrop for fun sorbet tones of the florals.

Connor and the groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos, which were a sharp and perfect contrast to the French blue bridesmaid dresses and the punchy sorbet palette carried by the florals.

We selected our catering menu based on what we could source locally and fresh to the season. We served a selection of meats and cheeses and passed hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour (Ratatouille Crostini, Maryland Crabcakes, Country Ham and Pimiento Cheese Biscuits, Duck Confit Spring Rolls, Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus). For our plated dinner, we had a spring salad complete with goat cheese, fresh fruit, and candied pecans. Our main courses were Roasted Chicken Breast, Braised Short Ribs, and a Spiced Lentil Cake. Our specialty cocktail was a Clifton classic cocktail – The 1799. This was made from cucumber vodka, elderflower liquor, pineapple, and lime, and it was a perfectly refreshing and summery drink!

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Our ceremony florals were the first impression of our wedding day, so we really wanted to wow our guests with our floral-lined aisle and floral arch. Our florist, Mallory Joyce, TRULY encapsulated our vision of a garden party with her playful arrangements and gorgeous flower pairings. We chose bright yellows, peach, tangerine, creams, and pinks for our florals to compliment the blue linens and bridesmaid dresses. We love color and wanted to take risks with colors that aren’t typically seen paired together for a wedding to be a bit unique but still classic.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Our cake was a Lemon Chiffon Cake filled with Triple Cream and Raspberry Curd, iced with Chambord Buttercream, and decorated with buttercream flowers that complimented our color palette. We also had a coffee bar and Mini Fruit Tart & Mini Tarte Tatins to keep us dancing into the evening!

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

One of our favorite memories from our wedding weekend is our first look and exchanging of our private vows. We wanted to have a private moment amid a busy day to center ourselves and to be with each other prior to our guests’ arrival. We chose to exchange private vows during our first look so we could soak in what we were promising to each other and not be overwhelmed by emotion during our ceremony. To us, the first look allowed us to get jitters out of the way early on and truly spend our wedding day together rather than apart for most of the day.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

We chose to incorporate unique touches that would be fun for guests to enjoy, like having a trumpet player lead the way from cocktail hour to the reception and having a live painter to watch throughout the evening. We were excited to surprise our friends and family with a live painter. Wed On Canvas captured our wedding ceremony beautifully, which provided our guests entertainment throughout the evening and provided Connor and I a beautiful piece of art to hang in our home.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

We worked with The Welcoming District to design a crest that is reflective of our wedding day and personalities. We had our dog, Piper, included as well as florals that matched our floral design and colors. We used our crest for fun details like our cocktail hour bar, garden flag, matchboxes, and welcome bags. Our welcome bags included some of our favorite things, like local Virginia peanuts, custom sugar cookies, and white wine with details of the weekend events.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]From the bride: Connor and I took dance lessons for the month leading up to our wedding so we could feel a bit more comfortable for our first dance, even though we did forget some of the choreography! My dad also joined in the lessons for our father/daughter dance, which was a really entertaining experience for all of us.[/field]

Understated Elegance in Lowcountry Dressed in Dreamy Earth-Tones

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Ocean, Moss + Oak[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

As two men getting married, we both felt strongly about wanting a wedding style that was elegant, understated, and warm, but not bridal in any way. We were so lucky to partner with Haley Kelly Events, as Haley and her team helped us to realize this vision in every element of our wedding planning process, including all of the vendors she connected us with. They made us feel comfortable, safe and supported every step of the way. Our mutual love for neutrals, warm earth-tones, plants/greenery, and being on/near the water helped to inform our color palette of blues, greys, greens, and wood tones. We incorporated these warm colors and textures into all elements of our wedding experience – from the save the dates and invitation suite to the linens and selection of tables, to the decor, which had greenery everywhere with floral accents. We were mindful that there was no “bride” in our wedding, and that as two grooms we wanted to have a balanced combination of beauty, elegance, and masculinity. We are also both Type A planners, so realizing our vision in every small detail of our wedding was important to us.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Family is so important to both of us — so from our earliest conversations about getting engaged, we both knew we wanted to do it around the holidays so that we could be with our loved ones and share this special moment in our lives with them. We also knew that we’d both be *very* opinionated about our engagement/wedding rings, as neither of us is used to wearing jewelry and both of us are pretty “type A.” One of us (Andrew) had a million questions to ask about every ring at every store, and one of us (Colin) knew he would get “the feeling” when he found the right ring. We quickly learned that surprising one another was out of the picture! Instead, we decided to purchase our rings together and keep it a secret, so that we could surprise our families and friends later on. After months of research and shopping — going from up and down 5th Avenue to the frenzy of the Diamond District to small boutiques in Brooklyn — we found “the one” while at Cartier. Their team could not have been more supportive of us as a same-sex couple looking for engagement bands that we would use to propose to one another, then give back to each other on our wedding day, and then wear every day for the rest of our lives. Our rings are the same style — the D’Amour platinum wedding band — but slightly different widths. (So we could still tell them apart at home!) COVID threatened to throw a wrench into our holiday travel plans, but after lots of testing we decided to make the trip home to the Midwest to spend Thanksgiving with Andrew’s family in the northern Chicago suburbs. We spent a night up at Lake Geneva, WI, where Andrew had spent his summers growing up – as had his father before him, and his grandfather before that – and is a special place for him and his family. Lake Geneva also became Colin’s “happy place” during our years together, and our visits every summer are the best days of our year. On the cold, clear morning of November 22, 2020, we left to walk the lake path with our ring boxes in tow. We reflected on our four years together, and we talked about our shared values for our future. At the side of the lake, we each took turns getting down on one knee and proposing to one another. We then walked back up to Andrew’s family’s lake house and asked his parents to come outside, where we surprised them with the news of our engagement. We spent the day calling our family and friends to share the news, and we went back to the lake path to recreate “the moment” together and take photos. If we couldn’t surprise one another, we wanted to be able to surprise everyone else – and we did!

From planner, Haley Kelly: Colin and Andrew’s catering menu was one that had thoughtful intent behind every decision. We had sage biscuits and butter as guests were seated at the tables as a nod to the south. Braised short rib, fried green tomatoes, and a romesco-topped cauliflower steak rounded out the menu.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Our wedding flowers had lots and lots of greenery, with white floral accents! Ally and her team at Blossom Bay were incredible to work with. They completely heard us and our vision of wanting a wedding that was elegant-but-not-bridal, and they took that and ran with it in such a beautiful way. They designed such a gorgeous Chuppah for the wedding ceremony, honoring Andrew’s Jewish heritage, and they incorporated potted plants and greenery on each of the tables as well. The groomswomen had bouquets that featured greenery in a way that we’d never seen before, and we absolutely loved it. They also designed custom boutonnieres for us as the grooms, our fathers, and our groomsmen, and a stunning corsage for Andrew’s grandmother with her favorite flowers. Blossom Bay helped us to make our dreams come true and created such a warm, loving environment through their floral design.

From Planner, Haley Kelly… For Andrew’s birthday during the wedding planning process, they actually went around NYC tasting all kinds of cakes because of his love for sweets so this piece of the puzzle was so exciting to plan with them. Fun fact – we had three flavors of wedding cake and 6 different passed sweet options!

Colin always knew he wanted to get married at Lowndes Grove in Charleston in October. Andrew likes to make lists of pros and cons, whereas Colin gets “the feeling” when he knows something is right. We visited a number of wedding venues in our search, but in the end, Colin’s gut “feeling” was spot on, as usual — it had everything we wanted, from the historic charm and architecture of the house on the property to the beautiful backdrop of the Ashley River right behind the ceremony location. The team at Patrick Properties Hospitality Group was also stellar, helping us to feel comfortable – and celebrated! – in planning a same-sex wedding in the South. PPHG sets the gold standard for hospitality, attention to detail and quality, and fostering an inclusive, supportive environment. We also scheduled our after party at another PPHG property in downtown Charleston, Parcel32, which we loved for its classic Charleston architecture (joggling boards and patios!) with upscale, elevated decor inside. From the event managers to the bartenders to the chefs to the servers, PPHG made planning our wedding at Lowndes Grove and Parcel32 a true dream come true.

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Advice from the Grooms… There is nothing in the world of wedding planning – not the florals or decor, custom suits or cake – that can take the place of the love in the room. Being surrounded by the love of family and friends is the key to a great wedding, and ultimately, we think a part of the foundation of a good marriage. So if you are an LGBTQ+ couple planning a wedding, think through your guest list and make sure the people you are inviting are in full support of you two as a couple. You want to look out at your wedding guests and see the love you have for your spouse celebrated and supported. Make sure you and your spouse-to-be are in agreement on the core values of your wedding day, and think through your priorities and how they manifest in each of the details of the wedding planning process — ours was about a good flow from event-to-event and guest comfort throughout. I cared more about decor, lighting, and paper, and Andrew cared more about food, and we each trusted the other in our respective areas. Discuss what each of your “must haves” are, and stay open and honest with one another throughout the wedding planning process. It can feel stressful, like another full-time job – even with a stellar wedding planner, and even with two grooms who are SUPER Type A – and so transparency, trust, and communication are key. At the end of the day, it’s about the marriage, not the wedding. Also, get wedding insurance. You never know when a hurricane will redirect and head straight for your venue, making you replan your entire rehearsal and most of your wedding within 36 hours!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

From the Grooms – MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? With Hurricane Ian hitting Charleston the day before our wedding, we weren’t quite sure what to expect on our wedding day. We didn’t know if the venue would be damaged or flooded, or if they’d be able to put the tent and lighting back up in time. The months (years?) spent planning all had to be adjusted on a moment’s notice. So that morning while we were getting ready with our wedding party, our incredible planner surprised us with a “first look” at our reception space — and it was magical. Our superstar vendors worked so hard to transform a space that had been hit by a hurricane less than 24 hours before into the wedding we’d been dreaming of for years. We opted not to have a first look with one another and to get ready together instead, and so our planner had us do a first look with our wedding cake. We both cried. And they are some of the best pictures of the day. We could not be more grateful to our planners at Haley Kelly Events, the team at PPHG, and to each of our vendors for their love, support, and care in making our special day a reality – especially just one day after a hurricane! WHAT ASPECT OF THE WEDDING WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU BOTH? The guest experience, without a doubt. We wanted our wedding guests to feel comfortable throughout the evening – and many of them had never been to Charleston, so we also wanted to think about their experience for the entire wedding weekend as well and ensure they could see (and eat!) everything Charleston has to offer. Focusing on the guest experience informed how we approached our paper suite, our floral design, our reception layout, lighting, decor, timeline, band and music – everything was discussed and determined with our guests in mind. Little did we know that our guests would have to brave a hurricane, deal with dozens upon dozens of cancelled flights, a power outage at the hotel, or road closures in order to celebrate with us! In the end, we were amazed – and deeply humbled – by the incredible lengths our guests went to get to Charleston. Some guests had 2, 3, 4, or even 5 flights cancelled, and still worked hard to get there. Andrew’s 96 year-old-grandmother had 2 flights cancelled and got up at 4am on the day of the wedding so she could make it in time from Chicago. Friends and family who had cancelled flights drove as much as 18 hours – directly towards a hurricane! – in order to be there. So as much as our wedding was a celebration of the two of us and the start of our marriage together, it was also a celebration of the love and support that surround us each and every day by our incredible families and friends.

A Vintage Glam Wedding At An Austin Italianate-Style Villa

[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were blush, peach, buttercup, dusty blue, and orange with jewel tone accents.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

For the vision and vibe, Lauren and Blake knew they wanted their wedding to be timeless, romantic, and dreamy. Inspired by vintage style from the 1930s and 1940s, their wedding channeled the romantic and glamorous feel with velvet linens, vintage furniture, and lots of flowing champagne!

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Blake proposed to Lauren on Christmas morning. He threw her off the scent first by staging a perfect engagement dinner on Christmas Eve but didn’t pop the question that evening. Instead, he woke her up the next day with a huge surprise: a ring!

Lauren was dazzling in her ivory wedding gown with spaghetti straps, a V neckline, and a flowing train. She complemented the dress with classic pearl jewelry and a sheer ivory veil.

Lauren invited ten of her closest girlfriends to be her bridesmaids on her wedding day. They each wore a different colored bridesmaids dress that corresponded with the couple’s wedding colors, from blush to dusty blue to peach. Each bridesmaid got to select their dress style, allowing them to showcase their individual personality!

Blake and his groomsmen donned classic black tuxedoes with black bow ties. Blake stood out from the crowd, though by adding a vintage top hat and black cane to his look!

Lauren and Blake love Mediterranean, Italian and French food, and we drew inspiration from their personal tastes for their wedding menu. Guests enjoyed wild mushroom & chèvre vol au vents, panzanella, and tomato mozzarella skewers during cocktail hour, provided by Pascal’s Catering. They then indulged in a beautiful plated meal of either chicken picatta, braised beef short ribs, or vegan grilled asparagus penne pasta. The bar menu featured passed Champs de Violette in vintage coupes and a separate bourbon bar for tastings. During the meal, Lauren and Blake offered a wine selection of Domaine des Cotes Blanches Sancerre Blanc, Tiberio Cerasuolo D’Abruzzo Rose and Illuminati llico Montepulcian d’Abruzzo.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

This wedding featured charming florals in shades of peach and dusty hues accented with natural greenery. From the blush and ivory floral sprays on the open-frame ceremony chuppah to the reception arrangements that dotted the kings’ tables, Lauren and Blake’s florals and decor were inspired by vintage charm with contemporary updates. Nods to contemporary style can also be seen in the cascade of flowers on the venue’s historic fountain, the rounded wooden chairs, and ikebana-inspired floral.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Lauren & Blake had a 5-tiered wedding cake! Emily Lee pressed multi-colored petals into the white exterior and rimmed the bottom tier with tiny pastel buds. Peach ranunculus sat on the top tier alongside a bride and groom cake topper. The groom’s cake was a naked cake, dusted with confectioner’s sugar, green leaves, and white florals.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

In the ceremony processional, Blake, the couple’s parents and the wedding party walked down the aisle to “Blue Bayou” by Roy Orbison, played on the strings by Terra Vista Strings. Lauren then entered with her father to the tune of “Crimson and Clover.” After the couple tied the knot, they shared their first dance to the musical stylings of The Shooks Band, who played their rendition of “Disco” by Surf Curse.

It was our first evening in Miami and Charles suggested we take a walk before dinner. The sun was just setting and we (somehow) had the beach to ourselves when he got down on one knee and asked if we could spend the rest of our lives together. Easiest question I’ve ever answered.

I (the Bride) fell in love with a beautiful Elysée wedding gown but knew I also wanted a reception dress I could dance the night away in. She brought my design to life in a custom silk gown and I’ve never felt more beautiful in a piece of clothing!

We wanted food to be a highlight and we wanted to showcase everything Seattle has to offer, so we opted for a PNW-inspired menu, including a raw bar with Pacific oysters, salmon, and locally-sourced meats, cheeses, and vegetables for a stunning charcuterie board. We also drew from some of our favorite local restaurants: our wedding cake from DERU Market, ice cream from Molly Moon’s Ice Cream, and a late-night snack of burgers and fries from the classic Seattle spot Dick’s.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

We wanted romantic, ethereal, blooms on our wedding day, and our florist delivered big time. The brides/groomsmaids carried bouquets of baby’s breath, and the Bride carried a lush cream and green bouquet of ranunculus, roses, white stock, and peonies.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]We wanted something simple and delicious, so we picked two of our favorites from DERU Market and asked our florist to help us decorate them to bring them into the theme.[/field]

Live music was one of my (the Bride) must-haves. Our phenomenal band made the evening feel so elevated and kept the party going all night. Truly a highlight of our wedding!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]There are so many special details from that day, but some of my favorites are our college friends serenading us with our sorority and fraternity songs.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

As my (the Bride) something borrowed and blue, I wore a small blue charm on my bouquet that my bridesmaid wore on her wedding day. I’m the second to wear it, and it will be passed on to our next friend (another bridesmaid) who is getting married this year as her something borrowed/blue.

It turned out our wedding day was the UW-Stanford game, so to honor our roots as University of Washington alums (where we met), we had purple and gold touchdown shots passed around after the Huskies scored.

Elegant Wedding at a Historical Castle in Athens, Greece

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Lama and Gautam opted for a moody yet classic palette for their nuptials. A beautiful combination of burgundy, blush, white and green was featured throughout their wedding decoration from florals to stationery and favors. The richness of burgundy contrasted beautifully with soft pastel colors and stole the show with its striking effect! On the other hand, blush which adorned the bridesmaid dresses and emanated from the centerpiece garden roses added a romantic and timeless touch. Delicate gold accents enhanced the color scheme.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]As soon as they decided to tie the knot, the multinational couple knew that a destination wedding was in the cards as the bride is from Lebanon and the groom is from India and they both live in the USA! They dreamt of celebrating their special day in an exclusive setting in which their families and friends could gather and in many cases, meet each other for the first time. They settled on Greece as a perfect middle ground for guests flying in from all around the world.

Lama and Gautam aimed for a classic and elegant affair in which the venue itself would serve as the stage for their nuptials. Pyrgos Melissourgou, an ancient castle in the south of Athens was selected for its history and old charm, lush olive grove and picturesque chapel. The 15 acres private estate with gorgeous sea views provided the ideal backdrop for both the ceremony and reception.

A highlight of the event was the diversity of multi-cultural guests mingling and dancing to international music. Undulating tunes of Middle-eastern and Indian origin on a backdrop of a magnificent Hellenic edifice made for a magical atmosphere. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The menu consisted of Mediterranean food with local delicacies and seafood from Greece. Delicious welcome bites were passed around during the welcome hour followed by a three course menu and a dessert buffet with large cakes and smaller sweet treats. A live stand of “Loukoumades” (traditional Greek donuts dipped in honey) was set-up delighting the guests with a burst of sweetness![/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The styling reflected the esthetics of the unique location and included timeless décor elements with a chic undertone.

The flowers were a gorgeous mix of classic choices such as white peonies and blush garden roses contrasted with bolder maroon sciabiosas and dark red hydrangeas. The evergreen foliage consisted of eucalyptus and myrtle leaves.

Provence tables were decorated with an oat-colored runner and paired with Louis chairs. Long gold candleholders with blush candles matched the elegant set-up while burgundy menus created a beautiful contrast with the gold rimmed tableware.

Oak wooden signs were used to display table numbers and instructions for all stations such as the refreshments and toss bar, the photobooth, the place cards and the guestbook table.

At the setting of the sun, lights hung on olive trees suddenly lit up, basking the whole reception in a soft light that infused an element of magic and imparted a fairy-tale feel![/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The white four-tiered cake with hand-crafted burgundy sugar flowers perfectly interpreted the beautiful understated mood and color palette of the wedding. It was displayed on a wooden stand that fit with the rest of the oak elements.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The bride walked down the aisle with her mother at the Greek Orthodox ceremony where several ancient rituals were performed such as the crowning of the couple with greenery wreaths as a symbol of glory and honor. Lama and Gautam also took three sips of wine from a shared cup which represents life and symbolizes the mutual sharing of joy and sorrow. Following the common cup ritual, the priest led them around the altar three times on which rested a bible and a cross. In this final act, the couple took their first steps as a married couple.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Lama and Gautam wanted their guests to leave with a favor to remember them by. They received a burgundy box embellished with a gold foiled monogram of the couple which included an evil eye symbol from Lebanon, tea from India and sugared almonds from Greece. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The couple chose the lotus as their wedding logo as a nod to the groom’s heritage and representing both immortality and longevity in India. A lotus insignia was showcased on the wax seal of the stationery suite and the menus as well as on the edge of the petal cones. [/field]

Romantic Details Meets Modern Design at a Downtown Dallas Sculpture Garden

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

Feast your eyes on this modern wedding inspiration with a romantic twist at the The Nasher Sculpture Center in Downtown Dallas, Texas. Jennifer Heasley, owner of Turn the Paige Events, planned a colorful and unique art-inspired shoot captured by Kelsey Logsdon with Kelsey LaNae Photography. The stunning venue and vibrant, linear elements throughout this editorial helped these two achieve a contemporary vibe with plenty of allure. Located in the heart of the Arts District, The Nasher Sculpture Center is home to some of the most iconic sculptures in Texas. Who knew such a lush garden could be hiding amid towering skyscrapers?

As for fashion, the bride wore The Wondrous gown. Designed by Ines Di Santo, the dress features a structured bodice with a delicate mesh open back. Your eye is drawn down to the full, textured skirt, making the dress feel effortlessly feminine. The floor-length horsehair veil completed the look beautifully. Later, the bride changed into a BHLDN pleated mini-dress with a ruffled neckline – a fun fashion statement for cutting the cake and strutting the streets in style!

[/field]
[field title=”Bridal Party”]

The Groom sported a dashing, custom Don Morphy and velvet bow tie. The bridesmaid floor-length dress from Jenny Yoo with velvet detailing included a floral pattern to give a nature-like touch – a simple and gorgeous tie back to the aesthetic of this unforgettable wedding shoot.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

A recurring theme throughout this shoot was a pleated pattern, as seen in the menus, table linen, candle holders, reception dress, and bridal accessories. The wedding gown, escort display, and cake also include ruffled textures. Jennifer knew that Posh Couture Rentals would be perfect for providing table pieces. “Starting with the linen, I knew we needed texture! I also wanted to bring in green pieces to compliment the Nasher’s outdoor space, so the chargers, napkins, cake plates and etched glassware gave us that garden-esque feeling,” said Jennifer. These thoughtful choices gave the shoot a whimsical touch, surprisingly complemented by the contemporary sculptures in the garden. Olivia Merrit with Olive Grove Design provided floral arrangements perfect for the space. After collaborating with Jennifer, Olivia believed that an “overgrown feeling” would best fit the reception tables. “I wanted organic and lush florals for the reception table, so I chose stems and blooms that would emulate a garden.” said Olivia. The ceremony backdrop features one of the most iconic sculptures in Dallas. Olivia felt it was vital to incorporate the structural aspects of the venue. “…harlow stands were chosen for the base of the ceremony floral installation. It was important to not take anything away from the sculpture as the focal point for the ceremony, so I kept the florals low and not overbearing.” Olivia said.

[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]

Custom stationery, provided by Hazelwood Paper Co, displayed a blind embossed pattern around the edges of the invitation, matching the green color of the charger plates in the tablescape. The vertical invitation sleeve and back pocket, also blind embossed, included a wax seal embellished with dried florals. The envelope liner was made with textured metallic gold paper. Thanks to the ingenious creativity of Kristin Hazelwood, a dual-purpose card at each seat served as both a name place card and a menu that was printed on the other side. This simple, personalized component of the reception experience is not only a conversation piece, but would serve as a memorable keepsake for every guest!

[/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]

Jennifer and Kelsey achieved their aesthetic vision through a careful selection of materials to marry both bold and soft elements for a modern yet romantic atmosphere. The color palette incorporates both dramatic and muted qualities, resulting in an unconventionally gorgeous design. The combination of gold metals, bright orange candles, and subtle blush tones allowed for a unique style sure to be remembered.

[/field]
[field title=”DIY Moments”]

As the first feature to greet guests as they stroll through the museum’s outdoor garden, the seating arrangement is truly an original piece of art in itself. Designed by Hannah Rodriguez with Vim and Venture, the “one of a kind” installation included some of her favorite materials, including wood, acrylic, and fabric.  “I love incorporating depth and texture into my builds, and this project was no exception. My inspiration was a floating paneled art installation, which sparked an idea for a seating chart. I dyed green fabric with layered elements inspired by the Nasher’s willow tree and the wind moving through the leaves,” Hannah writes.
