[field title=”Proposal Story”]
Lorelei and Jason first met in their early twenties. They both went to Emory University but had never spoke until Jason started his first job, while she happened to intern at the firm across the street. They soon became very close through lots of work lunches together. Apparently those two young kids did not expect something like marrying their best friend upon that time, but they did decide to date their best friends.
It took Lorelei and Jason seven years with lots of long-distance to get to the day she walks through the aisle. There was certainly time that they might had been apart. But every time they managed to fall in love with the same person again and again. While they were not physically in the same city, they strived to become a better person for themselves and for each other, which helped them last through those seven years. After went through covid in long distance, settled down in New York together and had their puppy Winnie joined this small family, they started to envision a wedding.
Lorelei has always been a big advocate of fine-arts wedding style. After they took their
engagement photos with C&C Photography in 2021 at the beautiful Sunset Cliff of San Diego,t hey started to fall in love more with west coast and considered having their wedding there. The couple never visited Sunstone Villa, but Lorelei convinced it would be their perfect wedding location for a Tuscany-vibe fine arts style wedding. She first reached out to her great friends Annie and Candi at C&C Photography and then Sissi at Etched Theory Planning to build her visions together. They read through all the weddings held in sunstone for the most fine-art design and strategize the reception/ceremony locations based off sunlights & shade. When it came to picking a florist, Le Bloomerie stood out through their prior florist designs at sunstone and Melissa was simply talented in styling with Lorelei’s favorite flower David Austin roses. Fortunately, April 24th turned into a sunny day with all the white roses blooming along the Tuscan stone wall. With the help of other vendors, those four women (Annie, Candi, Sissi and
Melissa) built Lorelei and Jason’s dream wedding from scratch to reality. All their creative
thoughts of staircase flower, floor styling shoot added unique memories to this intimate

Intimate Fairytale Wedding At Bear Flag Farm

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Taking node to the romance of France, we chose soft whites, true greens, and pops of light blues as their palette. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Vanessa Pence Events sought to create a wedding that resembled the fairytale type of love Hannah and Will found in each other and to share in their family-focused intimate celebration. The couple said “I do” in front of 75 guests at Bear Flag Farm located just outside of Sacramento. The lush landscape filled with almond orchards, lavender fields, and roaming bunnies was the perfect backdrop for their classic and enchanting day.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Hannah and Will met on Hinge at the beginning of 2021, while Hannah was visiting her parents in the Bay Area. They knew after their first date at the drive-in movie theater that this was something they couldn’t let go of but Hannah had to fly back to Austin where she lived and Will had just taken a new job in Colorado. After six months of long-distance dating, they both decided to move back to the Bay Area, where both of their families resided, and take their relationship to the next level. Six short months later they were engaged with plans to get married the following summer.

The Natural Palette of Mykonos Inspired This 4-Day Destination Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Colour played a huge role throughout all of the celebrations, with every event having its own unique and thoughtfully considered palette:

The colours of the Wedding Ceremony were inspired by the local Myconian bougainvillea. The natural colour palette of fuchsia and bright pink shades was embraced and enhanced when creating the enchanted garden inspired florals.

The rainbow colours chosen to adorn the Wedding Dinner were vivid yet organic, tying in perfectly with the natural wooden tables and traditional Greek stonework backdrop.

The colours of the two events that took place the day before the Wedding Ceremony honoured the Indian heritage of the couple’s families. A bright colour spectrum of pink, orange, yellow and green complimented the Aegean Sea backdrop perfectly during the Music Festival day event. And during the evening, rich red, deep burgundy and orange shades encapsulated the atmosphere at the traditional Indian Sangeet.

The Welcome Party on the first day was dedicated to Greece, the local Myconian culture and Ancient Greek mythology, so a deep navy blue was the core colour, with touches of gold and a white canvas. The same colour palette that can be found throughout the Island of Mykonos. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]This multi-day wedding celebration of Anand Goyal & Sabrina Pervez was designed around thematic concepts for each day, so that the guest experience would evolve and reach its peak at the Wedding Ceremony on the last day, culminating with a closing mega party at the 5* Avaton Hotel, where the couple had privatised and bought out 151 suites for all of their guests to stay on site at the Myconian Collection throughout the celebrations.

Every single detail was personalised and thoughtfully considered – every guest received a welcome bracelet upon check in and was greeted on arrival by the couple and their families, custom room key cards with the couple’s initials were used throughout the hotel, daily changing sweet local delicacies were left on the pillows of every guest each night, along with a printed goodnight message from the bride and groom, and a reminder of the next day’s itinerary. Custom napkins were designed for every meal around the couple’s event themes.
Guest experience was prioritised above everything else and the couple employed a team of butlers, logistics coordinators, nannies, and security personnel, in addition to the large team of suppliers and coordinators already on site, solely dedicated to ensuring every guest was looked after in the best way possible.

On day 1, all guests who had arrived in Mykonos before the official wedding celebrations kicked off were invited to join Anand & Sabrina at a Rehearsal Dinner in the famous Mykonos town as an informal welcome to the Island.

The next day would see the entire group of 270 guests check in at the privatised Avaton Hotel and enjoy a heartfelt welcome lunch around the infinity pool, while listening to a live harpist, and browsing through a 90 page custom wedding magazine ‘The Newslyweds’, featuring interviews with friends and family, Mykonos recommendations, crosswords, hotel details, family recipes and other insights from Anand and Sabrina.

The Welcome Party was dedicated to Ancient Greece and saw the Avaton Hotel turn into Mount Olympus, home to actors dressed as mythological Gods, live flames, mermaids performing in the infinity pool and even the couple’s busts created as Greek statues. Although the idea on this first night was to not escalate into a late party, as the next day would open with a morning event, the party had definitely started! Everyone danced and enjoyed the spectacular sunset with cocktails in hand.

Day 3 began with an open air “Music Festival” themed event that was inspired by a festival that took place in the couple’s hometown. Guests picked up their custom festival wristbands, wore their most colourful festival style outfits and danced to the tunes of the live bands that took to the stage, while an assortment of street food stalls, with cuisines from around the world were served alongside a frozen cocktail bar. Other live performing artists, magicians and face painters ensured every guest was having a great time.

A few hours of rest and changing outfits and the Indian element of the celebrations was about to start. The colourful Sangeet event, coined ‘The Goyal Variety Show’, in tribute to the couple’s last name, was an incredible showcase of dancing, singing and acting abilities of the very talented families and friends of the couple, who honoured them with their performances taking place under a ceiling of suspended florals.

Traditional Indian food was served and catered by the famous TV Greek chef, Dimitris Skarmoutsos, and cocktails featuring traditional Indian ingredients, such as mango and ginger, complimented the themed concept of the event, that saw everyone get sore feet from dancing all night to the globally renowned mixes of celebrity DJ, DJ Frenzy, who the couple had flown in for their Sangeet.

The final day of celebrations was to be the ultimate culmination of everything already experienced by the guests up to that moment: the design, food, florals and party were taken to an even greater level.

The vision for the Wedding Ceremony was to create an unparalleled Enchanted Garden in an area that had never been used as a wedding ceremony spot before. Filled with natural flowers, arrangements, and even bougainvillea trees along the natural pink colour palette of Mykonos, the ceremony was an extremely emotional walk down memory lane, featuring a love story found only usually in fairytales.
Prior to Sabrina’s big entrance, a video was screened to all guests, featuring a compilation of edited childhood home videos of the couple growing up together. Anand Goyal and Sabrina Pervez had first started dating at school, aged 15, however a few months into their relationship the discovery of some old childhood photos revealed that they had in fact also been best friends at nursery as children. The couple were also born just 4 days apart in the same hospital in Essex, UK. This story told through the power of video, whilst live string music played, resulted in not a single dry eye in the house as the bride made her entrance.

A very moving ceremony where the couple shared their own vows, and embraced several different wedding traditions to honour their respective cultures and heritages brought further tears of joy and emotion to all, before guests enjoyed a champagne reception.

Dinner was next and again no detail was left to chance. Guests enjoyed a 6 course fine dining menu, paired with wine. Personalised embroidered linen napkins with the couple’s initials and wedding date were twirled high in the air throughout the dinner as the notoriously brilliant London Essentials band kept everyone thoroughly entertained, singing and dancing on their chairs as the meal progressed. Fairy lights, multi-colour florals and a huge video wall playing a live feed of the evening further adorned the space. Touching speeches were shared from the fathers of the bride and groom and from Anand and Sabrina themselves. Fireworks lit up the night sky and an 0h-So-Greek plate smashing session was enjoyed by everyone before the grand finale.

All guests returned to the Avaton Hotel infinity pool area which was transformed into a Mykonos Nightclub, with a spectacular light show, laser beams on the neighbouring mountain – spelling out ‘Mr and Mrs Goyal’, hanging disco balls, dancing LED butterflies and disco themed hosting teams, ABBA tribute dancers fulfilling the true ‘Mamma Mia!’ greek experience and a synchronized swimming performance in parallel with a pyroshow! It was the epitome of an ultra Myconian party experience. Guests partied well into the morning, with many not going to sleep until 6am.

The next day the couple hosted a post-wedding celebratory dinner at Mykonos’ Solymar beach club for around 120 of their guests who were still on the Island. The couple also took this opportunity to thank publicly thank their incredible wedding planning team, Naido Weddings. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Anand and Sabrina have been together since 22 October 2010. They took a trip to New York City in December 2021, their first time visiting the city together.
On the day of the proposal, Anand created a fake itinerary of that day’s plans, so that he could surprise (the hard to surprise!) Sabrina. Anand took Sabrina for a carriage ride around Central Park. They stopped at Bow Bridge, where Anand told Sabrina to look out across the bridge for a photo. When Sabrina turned back around, Anand was on one knee, with ring in hand. A photographer was on hand to capture the special moment and a saxophonist played as Sabrina said yes! Anand then surprised Sabrina with a sunset helicopter flight over the city before they toasted their engagement over dinner and shared their happy news with family and friends back home.

Anand Goyal and Sabrina Pervez first started dating at school, aged 15, however a few months into their relationship the discovery of some old childhood photos revealed that they had in fact also been best friends at nursery as children. [field title=”Food & Drink”]It was important to the couple that the food offered was different every day so as to enrich the culinary experience of guests, and at the same time offer options from varying global cuisines (Indian, Greek and International) to cater to every dietary preference.

Outside of the wedding events themselves, the bride and groom also decided to offer traditional Indian food for guests at breakfast, alongside the Avaton Hotel’s usual morning offerings, throughout all days, so an additional catering team from Athens was brought in to prepare the carefully curated Indian menus.
Wines and champagnes were carefully tasted and selected and custom-named cocktails were served at each event. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]At the Welcome Party florals included hydrangeas spanning different shades of blue and white and green foliage displayed in gold vases, to tie in with the Ancient Greece theme.

A colourful floral arch, featuring light pink, fuchsia, yellow and orange flowers set against greenery was a photo spot for guests at the Music Festival event. A ceiling featuring suspended circular floral arrangements in the same colours provided shade above the dance area and stage at this event. A custom destination sign was painted featuring the locations all the guests had travelled from to be at the wedding celebrations, as well as other festival themed decorations and colourful furniture the couple had shipped across to Mykonos for the event.

The Sangeet featured a large floral arch with red, burgundy, mustard and dark orange flowers. Floral arrangements were also hung above the personalised dance floor. Guests sat on cream sofas adorned with colourful, Indian style cushions. A mirrored tress was constructed to surround the dance floor.

The Wedding Ceremony included a gazebo and ground arch where the couple exchanged vows, as well as two additional arches in the aisle area. Hanging pink floral were also tied to the arches. Ground arrangements were also placed along the aisle and guest seating areas. Rose petals were also scattered in the area, in the flower girl baskets and in cones as confetti.
Specific florals in the Wedding Ceremony space included: pink voukamvilia, pink, dark pink and fuchsia peonies sara bernar, piano button, peonies doctor flemigk, eustoma piccolo pink, roses paloma royal, hanging fushcia and pink carnations, other natural greenery.

The bridal bouquet was made up of white peonies and olive tree leaves. Bridesmaids had smaller versions of the same. The Groom wore a single white peony as a buttonhole. Groomsmen and fathers of the bride and groom wore pink mondial roses for buttonholes.

The Wedding Dinner reception had a multi colour floral palette, featuring ground arrangements, floral table runner centrepieces. The Bride and Groom’s table featured an arch behind them and tall ground arrangements. Tableware was hand picked to compliment the florals and setting. Specific floristry included:
Purple mini allium, light blue delphinium, ami, Bupleurum, white veronica, solintago, chamomile, coral peonies, gentiana, Aster Cassandra, Ranunculus Cloony Renoir, Ranunculus Elegance Orange, Ranunculus Elegance Yellow, yellow oncidium [/field]

These included a large custom tote bag, embroidered with the couple’s initials and a custom greek design. Contents of the bag included various traditional greek snacks, corduroy custom caps embroidered with the couple’s initials, custom woven towels featuring a traditional greek design and the couple’s names, a plug adaptor, copies of the custom 90-page wedding magazine and itinerary cards of the weekend’s events.
Every evening each guest also received a sweet treat and a good night message from the couple left in their room, inside custom gift boxes featuring a greek design and the couple’s names. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Entertainment was a big factor throughout the celebrations, with several different DJs, bands, live musicians, singers, dancers, synchronised swimmers, magicians, live actors and other performers brought on site for the duration of the celebrations. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The couple placed huge importance on making every single guest feel special. The celebrations were extravagant and had the wow factor, but it was this detail that was to take the utmost priority:
Anand and Sabrina wrote individual, personalised letters, containing specific memories, anecdotes and well wishes, to all 270 guests which were then delivered to guests as they sat down at the Wedding Dinner.
Anand and Sabrina performed a duet themselves at the Sangeet, where they acknowledged by name every member of their extended family and bridal party in the form of a song (Ed Sheeran’s A team, reimagined to be the ‘S & A team’) – with Sabrina on the piano and Anand on the guitar.
Each guest was assigned a butler to help with any needs they might have throughout the weekend, beyond the support already provided by the Avaton Hotel team.
Anand and Sabrina organised activities and excursions for guests to enjoy in the downtime around wedding events, including food and olive oil tasting, yoga classes and trips into Mykonos town.
Every single guest’s travel details were collected and collated so all transfers could be arranged and so that Anand and Sabrina could personally be there, alongside their families, to greet each guest upon their arrival at the Myconian Collection. Every guest was greeted with music, cheering and welcome bracelets.
Every guest was sent a custom luggage tag prior to travelling to Mykonos.[/field]

A Sensational Spain Wedding Filled With Iconic Style

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

From the bride… In the summer of 2019, Sergio proposed to me on the first night of a trip to Mallorca. I have never been more surprised: he had a dinner set up in a treehouse that seriously felt straight out of Grimm’s Rapunzel, but it really didn’t occur to me that he was proposing until the words left his mouth. It was so special and romantic that it was just the two of us. And, we were able to spend the next week or so celebrating together! The days that followed were so perfect and filled with bliss that we knew that we wanted to bring the people closest to us back to our favorite Mallorcan town, Deià, for an intimate destination wedding.

From the groom… It was the best moment ever; I booked dinner in a tree house (at the hotel where we were staying). I asked the hotel to decorate in a romantic way, with flowers, petals, and candles. I told Brie I forgot my phone in the room and went back to get the ring. I gave the ring to the waitress and told her to come up with the ring, and a bottle of champagne. When she brought the champagne, I told Brie I loved her, I wanted us to spend the rest of our lives together, and I gave her the ring, a Brazilian emerald. When we were getting ready for dinner earlier, Brie had showed me two dresses she had in mind to wear. She had absolutely no idea what I had in store for this dinner, but one of the dresses was emerald green. Of course I steered her in that direction, but the color matched the ring so perfectly that looking back at the pictures, it seems too perfect to be true.

For each of my individual wedding events, I had a very specific, distinct vision in mind, and of course, I wanted to wear a lot of vintage. Before opening my vintage shop Very Breezy, I spent my career working in fashion, including as a Market Assistant at Vogue, so I’m no stranger to devoting everything to finding THE perfect look. To our seaside welcome lunch at Deia’s iconic Ca’s Patro March, I wore a vintage Emilio Pucci bias-cut chiffon dress from Very Breezy. For this event, I referenced a lot of Slim Aarons photographs of poolside parties in Acapulco in the late 1960s— nothing would fit better than Pucci’s iconic psychedelic prints. The colorful palette could not have complemented the setting better— since it wasn’t my actual wedding day, I was totally okay with not wearing white, and wanted to have fun with my hair and makeup as well. If there’s one thing I love, it’s a braid, and I kind of fantasized about creating this jeweled braid crown forever— the amazing pins are from my friends at Jennifer Behr. (I worked there for years and we frequently collaborate on projects.) Rebecca Spendlove created this amazing beauty look. It was also important for me to wear a gold bracelet from my late father; it’s so special to me and it was a way of remembering him. For our paella rehearsal dinner, I wore a vintage 1930s halter-neck lace gown from the Very Breezy collection, and I kind of built this entire look around 1930s Old Hollywood Glamour, mixed with elements of traditional Spanish style. The dress was the most incredible cobweb lace, with a halter neck, very low back, and a court train. I wore my hair in a low chignon, with a Jennifer Behr silk ruffle barrette, a nod to the floral adornments/mantilla combs traditionally worn in the hair in regions of Spain. My friend of many years and New York based designer Joy Cioci worked with me to create the custom wedding dress of my dreams. I had the idea for this dress in my mind for as long as I can remember, so seeing it come to life was a dream come true. I drew inspiration from late Victorian basque-bodice silhouettes, 1950s Merry Widow corsetry, and even Monica Bellucci’s iconic style and the unabashedly feminine 90s supermodels of my youth. I am obsessed with lace, so choosing the lace for my dress was a big deal. We used vintage French picot edge grosgrain ribbon to create movement, one of my favorite elements. Getting married in a Catholic church in Spain, wearing a mantilla veil felt basically non-negotiable, especially because I’ve always loved the romantic, traditional look of a mantilla. To complete the look, I wore antique Victorian Etruscan-revival gold earrings from Very Breezy vintage, which date to 1880. (One of many “Something Old-s”!) A few days prior to my wedding some very dear friends gifted me a vintage tanzanite ring, which I wore on my wedding day as my “something blue.” For shoes, I wore the Tabitha Simmons Covie Sandals— 10 out of 10 would recommend wearing these if you want to have fun and dance at your wedding, and not worry about your feet killing you. For beauty, I wanted to keep everything really romantic and soft. Shari Kramer flew all the way from Germany to get me ready; she is an absolute angel and was a huge source of calmness the days surrounding my wedding. I wore my hair down (wanting to feel most like myself) and we pulled smaller strands back with Jennifer Behr pearl hairpins. I wanted the hair to feel very ethereal, and a bit undone. Shari knew exactly what to do with my makeup to make me look like the best version of myself. Sergio and I worked with Martin Greenfield in Brooklyn to make a beautiful custom tuxedo. (They also made the gorgeous linen suit he wore the previous night.) He wore the tux with velvet slippers from Del Toro. After our engagement, for Sergio’s 40th birthday, I gave him a pair of emerald-set gold cufflinks, which were engraved on the underside with our original wedding date. Of course we had no idea that it would be the first of three wedding dates due to pandemic-related delays, but we left them inscribed this was as a reminder that obstacles are easier to overcome together. He wore them on this special day. Because our wedding was so intimate and relatively small, we decided not to have a traditional wedding party, but involved some people closest to us by asking them to give readings, toasts, etc. What’s so crazy is that so many of my friends (without directly coordinating it) showed up in complementary, bright colors and in the pictures, it ended up looking like the coolest bridal party ever!

Sergio and I were so excited to provide our guests an immersive experience in Mallorca, and stuck to a menu of traditional local cuisine for our wedding events. We hosted our welcome lunch at Ca’s Patro March, the historical seaside restaurant known for its unparalleled views and straight-from-the-sea seafood. The following night, before our wedding, we hosted a big paella fiesta for all of our guests. We hosted our reception at a converted monastery dating back to the 13th Century, situated high atop a hillside in the Serra de Tramuntana, surrounded by ancient olive groves, with the most picturesque views of the Mediterranean Sea. From the incredibly rich history to the sheep and goats that roam the property freely, it was like walking into a fairytale. Sergio and I stayed on the property with our families that week. The entire event took place outside, and we were very blessed with amazing weather the entire week. During our cocktail hour, we had a traditional Iberian jamón carver and everyone’s mouth is still watering just thinking about it. We had the most amazing band (Tinons and the Mopis) perform Bossa Nova; Sergio is from Brazil so this was one of a few different nods to his traditions. For dinner, we wanted to do a traditional sit-down dinner before the party really got started. We served a menu of really fresh local Mediterranean cuisine, served family-style, because we wanted our guests to be able to taste everything they wanted.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

After we got engaged in Mallorca, we spent the most magical, blissful day in the town of Deià, and it really shaped our idea of the perfect wedding for us. As a dealer of vintage and antiques, I am constantly looking to the past for sources of inspiration. Victorian designs have informed my aesthetic choices for most of my life and our wedding was no exception, from the velvet ribbon place settings to the brass candlesticks and the floral garlands. I referenced the Secret Garden (a favorite novel/film of my childhood) for that juxtaposition between the wildness of nature and the elegance of the decor. Everything felt very romantic and ethereal. I’ve always had an affinity for religious art and iconography, and I fell in love with the church where we wed, so we drew inspiration there as well. The ancient monastery where our reception took place is full of original altars, crosses, and Catholic icons. It would be impossible to not draw on that history! Especially because of the rich, centuries-old history of the property, we wanted everything to make sense in the context of the place and feel an extension of the surroundings. I knew I wanted a very warm-toned floral palette that reflected our sun-drenched surroundings. The natural light there is so warm! In the end, it was best to not compete with mother nature— Sergio kept reminding me that no amount of flowers will ever be more awe-inspiring than the reception view we were so lucky to have of the Mediterranean sea.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]We had a Cookie Table in lieu of a wedding cake. In my hometown of Pittsburgh, “Cookie Tables” are a huge deal at weddings and pretty much any gathering. I was very persistent in my pursuit of making this Cookie Table happen in Mallorca, which proved to be no small feat. (I may have visited some local bakeries myself the days leading up to my wedding— lol).

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Ceremony: Our Catholic ceremony took place at Parròquia Sant Joan Baptista which sits at the highest point in the town of Deià, with the most incredible views of the Serra de Tramuntana and the Mediterranean Sea. Wandering around the town of Deià after our engagement in 2019, we happened upon this church and wistfully fantasized out loud about how amazing it would be to wed in that very church. At the time, we never thought that this fantasy would materialize, but we definitely manifested it, and on my way to the church on my wedding day, seeing the church up on the hill in the distance made it all the more surreal. Destiny struck again. We truly feel so lucky! My father passed away when I was younger, and my brother escorted me down the aisle— such a special moment! Our priest was hilarious, and I don’t think there has ever been a funnier Catholic marriage ceremony, which felt very us: steeped in tradition, yet whimsical. We were also able to write our own wedding vows, and we will never forget the moment we exchanged them. As I walked down the aisle, an acoustic guitarist sang “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys and it was such an emotional moment. Of the two of us, I am without a doubt the “crier” in this relationship, so the ironic twist was that Sergio absolutely could not stop crying during the ceremony, especially when I read my vowels. About the ceremony from Sergio… It was the most magical moment in my life; seeing Brie entering the church in her beautiful white dress, the intimate ceremony with family and friends in that amazing church over the Mediterranean Sea. It was just a magical moment that felt like something out of a dream. From Brie… Full disclosure: I arrived very late to my wedding, and I was definitely nervous on my way to the church. That anxiety was truly wiped away as I proceeded down the aisle and saw Sergio at the altar, already crying tears of joy. In that moment I was so filled with love for him, and I had the biggest smile on my face that nothing could break. It felt totally surreal, and part of me was in disbelief that we actually made it to this day, surrounded by the most important people, in our favorite place on earth. (Like many couples, pandemic-related delays made us feel like perhaps this day wouldn’t materialize, but it was undoubtedly worth the wait.) The ceremony felt really intimate, and there were moments when we looked at each other and I really felt like it was a private moment between us, despite having all eyes on us. Above all else, I just felt so incredibly blessed in that moment. During the Reception: Our first dance was to “Like a Child Again” by The Mission

How to Describe the Gown You Want – From Silhouettes to Straps!

If you’re like most brides, chances are you’ve been dreaming of your wedding gown since before you even met your fiancé(e). While the vision may have changed over the years, you can still picture it in your head. Now, the question is, how do you get that image out of your head and into words. No worries, that’s why you have us!

Going shopping for your wedding gown can be as intimidating as it is exciting. After all, you are spending way more than you normally would on a dress and the shopping experience is a lot more hands-on. Usually, appointments start with a consultation. Your bridal consultant will ask you a lot of easy questions at first, like when is your wedding date, what is your venue like, then, they’ll hit you with, “So, what kind of gown are you looking for?”. This is where most of us freeze. How do you put this ephemeral image in your head into words? Trying to describe the gown as a whole can be difficult, so let’s break it down into parts.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Elizabeth LaDuca

1. Silhouette

Silhouette is the shape of the gown. Think of it in terms of shadows. If you shined a light behind the gown and its shadow projected onto the wall, what shape would it be? Would it be a column? Would it be more triangular? Here are some common silhouettes for wedding gowns.

PHOTOGRAPHY  | Rebecca Yale Photography

  • A-line- This silhouette is fitted through the bodice and starts to flare out at the waist in a triangular fashion. It can range from moderate to very full at the base.
  • Ballgown- Think of a bell when you think ballgown. This silhouette is fitted through the bodice and then abruptly flares out at the waist in a round bell-like shape.
  • Mermaid- It’s all in the name; this silhouette looks just like (you guessed it!) a mermaid. It is fitted throughout until you get to the knees where it starts to flare out like a mermaid’s tail.
  • Fit-and-flare- This silhouette is similar to the mermaid, but it begins to flare out anywhere from the hip bones to mid-thigh and is fitted through the bodice.
  • Column- This minimalist silhouette creates one clean line from top to bottom giving the look of a column.
  •

    2. Straps vs. Strapless

This is usually an easy call, do you prefer dresses that have straps or dresses that don’t. Keep in mind the straps can be thick, thin, or even spaghetti.

    3. Sleeves vs. Sleeveless

Some ceremonies require sleeves and some brides just like the look of them. No matter what your sleeve motivation is, be sure to consider the location and time of year for your wedding; it may dictate whether sleeves are a must or a no-go, depending on the weather.

    PHOTOGRAPHY | Sotiris Tsakanikas

    4. Neckline

Choosing a neckline is often instinctual–most brides know exactly what they like and don’t like. Here are some common bridal necklines.

  • Sweetheart- The sweetheart neckline creates a heart shape on the bodice. It is commonly used in strapless gowns.
  • V-neck- This neckline creates a V shape on the front or back of the gown. They can be moderate in-depth or plunge down past the waist, so be sure to specify which depth you prefer.
  • Scoop Neck- This neckline is reminiscent of ballet leotards. It gently scoops down creating a U shape.
  • Straight- This minimalist neckline simply goes straight across the bodice.
  • Wrap- A wrap neckline is created when the two sides of the bodice overlap, ultimately creating a V shape–think wrap dress or robe.
  • Off the Shoulder- This element can be combined with some of the necklines above and just features some fabric or sleeves that drape gracefully off-the shoulder.
  • One-shoulder- This asymmetrical neckline features fabric that drapes from one side of the bodice to the other and goes up over just one of the shoulders.
  • High- A high neckline can come in different shapes and styles, from collared, to crew-neck. If you share that you want this coverage in general, your bridal consultant can show you the different options that they have available.
  • Backless- It’s easy to remember the front neckline, but the back neckline often gets overlooked. If you want something specific in the back, be sure to mention it to your bridal consultant. The most common back neckline specification is “backless”. This means that most, if not the entirety, of the back is bare.
  • PHOTOGRAPHY | Kurt Boomer

    5. Fabric

This is where it gets kind of tricky. Most of us don’t know exactly what type of fabric we like. We know it to see it, but we don’t know the technical terms. Don’t worry, you’re not supposed to (but bonus points if you do!); that’s what your bridal consultant is there to help you with.

Use words to describe the textures or looks that you like or don’t like, (i.e. matte, shiny, stretchy, sheer, flowy, light, heavy). You can also describe the embellishments like lace, beading, or sequins.

    PHOTOGRAPHY | Lauren Fair Photography

    6. Color

Most people think white when they think wedding gown, but there are a million different shades of white! Do you like a bright white? Or perhaps a light ivory? Also, it’s 2020 now and you don’t have to limit yourself to this monochrome palette, you can get married in any color you would like!

When you are gown shopping, you will be seeing and trying on the samples that are in the store. Often, the same gown is available in multiple colors, so try to keep an open mind if the gown you try on is not the exact color you are envisioning. Be upfront with your bridal consultant about any special color requests so that they only show you gowns that can be ordered in that color.

    PHOTOGRAPHY | Alice Ahn Photography

    7. Length

Most wedding gowns are floor-length and come with a train. Some designers offer cocktail-length dresses or gowns with high-low hems. Length is very customizable because you can always have length taken off when you get your alterations, so don’t limit yourself based on the lengths of the samples you try on; you can always cut off the train or raise the hem if you want to.

    PHOTOGRAPHY | Rebecca Yale Photography

    8. Style

We saved “style” for last because this is the descriptor that usually leads to misunderstandings. One person’s idea of boho can be completely different from another. Same with minimalist, or vintage. Instead of using these buzzwords, use photos to communicate your wedding/personal style to your bridal consultant, this way they can get a better feel for the look you are going for.

If you’ve considered all of these categories and you still can’t quite describe what you like, don’t sweat it–try describing what you don’t like instead and narrow it down from there.

There, the hard part’s over, now go have fun shopping!

Classic Yet Contemporary at Meadowood Napa Valley

    [section title=”The Planning”]
    [field title=”Wedding Colors”]Black, White, Neutrals, minimal green[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Classic and chic were at the core of the design. “We wanted a clear delineation between the ceremony/cocktail hour and dinner aesthetics. Because the ceremony and cocktail hour were held on Meadowood’s Vitners Green, we wanted to compliment the natural colors/textures of the outdoors by using furniture and accessories with brown, cream, and grey tones. The ceremony included wood cross back chairs and large, organically styled arrangements. Soft vintage furnishings, wood pieces and leather added to the casual feel for cocktail hour. For me, a daytime event should always have a more relaxed, easy feel. As we transitioned into night, the mood then becomes more formal once guests enter the tent for dinner. Every decor item supported this transition, with some spanning both to keep everything cohesive. Under the tent, we then incorporated crystal, silver, acrylic, black dining chairs, contemporary chandeliers, and candlelight to elevate the experience of a formal dinner party.”
“I sent Kaella an image of a Restoration Hardware living room and said, “Let’s start here.” I didn’t want to look back at any part of the wedding and think that I went with the trend of the time. I really wanted timeless elegance – classic yet contemporary. For example, we chose black tapered candles in place of white, and paired very contemporary flatware with traditional crystal stemware.”
    [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]My family has been going to Indian Springs in Calistoga since I was a young girl. We typically go for a couple weeks in both the summer and winter months. Mark and I had been dating for over a year (and had just discovered we were expecting our first child) when we headed up to Indian Springs in December 2017. It was the evening of the 31st. We were in our room – me in bed while Mark was getting ready for dinner. Mark dressed quickly, even putting on his jacket, which I thought was strange as I hadn’t even gotten out of my robe yet. As he began to walk towards me, I noticed he was fidgeting with something inside of his jacket pocket. He looked nervous and immediately I knew what was coming. He sat down beside me on the bed, pulled out the small dark grey box, and started talking about this past year of our lives and how he never wanted to be apart again. I think he said something like, “Do you think you’d want to marry me?” to which I responded with an “Of course!” I had always told him that I didn’t want some grand proposal because I wanted to remember every moment and not get caught up in the distractions of a big production. It was just us and it was just perfect.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]At cocktail hour, the couple create 5 signature drinks…each one was named after a friend group or individual close to the couple. Huge hit! We had passed hors d’oeuvres, along with a large charcuterie display inspired by 17th century still life paintings.
“The Restaurant at Meadowood is three Michelin-starred so we were confident that all courses would be delicious. We both love Italian food and chose dishes based on those flavors. Although a bit out of order from a traditional Italian meal, we started with a butter lettuce salad with heirloom tomatoes and burrata, followed by a butternut squash agnolotti, and finally guests had a choice between king salmon, beef short ribs or vegetable risotto. Also, each course had a wine pairing.”
    [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Bouquet: White peonies and baby rose buds
Centerpieces: Large arrangements – large headed roses, Mondial(creamy) large roses, majolica spray roses, white ranunculus, white lisianthus, white double tulips, Veronica, sage foliage, dusty miller, white stock, dainty euc, grey green foliage. Smaller arrangements (scattered between large arrangements) – white lisianthus and white ranunculus OR sage OR white stock OR white roses. When it came to flowers, the couple wanted soft, rounded shapes. They favor classic design because it never goes out of style – pretty, elegant, simple, sometimes monochromatic. Whites and creams, green only coming from leaves and stems. Again, too much color or the use of certain colors can sometimes date an event and the bride wanted to make sure that wasn’t the case with their wedding.

    [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]”We had a simple 3-tiered white buttercream cake with large white peony sugar flowers (peonies are my favorite flower). The layers alternated between vanilla bean cake with mascarpone cream and fresh strawberries and lemon poppy seed cake with classic cream cheese.”[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The couple enjoyed a beautiful outdoor ceremony. The bride was escorted down the aisle by both her mother and father. This was a very special moment for them as they chose to forego a first look, and see each other for the first time at that moment. The couple wrote their own vows, with these being their favorite part of each other’s vows
Mark: “A relationship in many ways is just an ongoing conversation and there’s no one else I’d rather spend my life talking to. Here we are three years and one Ruth later after that first conversation getting married just as I predicted that night.”
Me: “Love is a commitment you choose and I choose you. I will protect your heart with mine always…. When it’s all said and done, my hope is that you will look back and know that I loved you completely every day of our lives.”
Music: Throughout the entire wedding (except dance party) music was played by an all-female string quartet. During cocktail hour they played contemporary hits (as opposed to the reception where only classical music was played).
For the first dance: “The string quartet played Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love. It is a beautiful song and we both felt it spoke to how our relationship developed relatively quickly but neither of us wanted to slow down.”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]”Mark is an avid reader, with a collection of books in the hundreds. Because of this, I really wanted to honor that in some way. We thought having a bookshelf displaying individually wrapped journals would be an interesting way to create escort cards. The journals were wrapped in black paper with white block script, finished with a white olive branch seal (an ode to Napa Valley). From the signature cocktails curated and named for special family members/friends to the custom neon sign “You Had Me At Blogger” (before teaching, Mark was a freelance writer/blogger) hung over the dance floor, to the chalkboard outside the dinner tent (Mark is now a teacher), it was important to us to add these personal touches to an otherwise very formal and traditional affair.”[/field]

Mark: As we walked into the tent and were announced as husband and wife because the anxiety of the ceremony was finally gone and we could just have fun.
Me: Hearing Mark’s vows. Men can sometimes be shy when it comes to expressing their feelings, but in that moment, he spoke from his heart and told me everything a girl wants to hear on her wedding day.

A Modern Wedding With a Tropical Twist in Cabo San Lucas

    [section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The wedding theme and colors for Rachol and Andre’s wedding were ivory and gold, mixed with tropical greenery, pampas grass and earth tones. They wanted the feel to be an editorial, minimalist glam.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The vibe that Rachol envisioned for their wedding was private, minimalist, modern, and tropical. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Rachol West-Chachere and Andre Chachere are college sweethearts from two Central California towns.
They met at San Jose State University. Rachol played basketball at San Jose State and Andre played football. Andre is a professional football player and Rachol is a small business owner and digital media & content editor. They have been each other’s rock since the day they met. They have two little bundles of joy, a 4 year old boy and a 1.5 years old babygirl. They got engaged in March 2021 in Monterey, CA.

The proposal was a complete surprise! Rachol had absolutely no clue. They were doing their first photoshoot as a family of 4 on the beach in Monterey, CA in March 2021. They were on a secluded private beach at the Sanctuary Beach Resort in Marina, CA. Rachol was playing in the sand with her toddler. When she stood up to go check on her infant daughter, Andre was on 1 knee! The sand and waves were behind him. It was the most picture perfect proposal. [/field]

A French Country Garden Wedding in the Middle of Rockefeller Center

    [section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]French blue, white, pops of blush and gold[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Adam and Ciera’s New York City garden wedding was part vintage, part grand, and all romance—a vision that stemmed entirely from the perfect pair of high heels and what can only be described as a Cinderella moment.

During wedding planning, Ciera attended a Manolo Blahnik event with Adam in tow—with the sole intention of picking up a pair of the designer’s classic Hangisi heels. When she arrived, however, her eye was instead drawn to a pair of deeply distinct heels boasting delicate hand-embroidered blue flowers. Ciera tried them on, fell in love, and knew she had to have them.

The designer stunners went on to become the ultimate muse for Ciera’s wedding design. Her planner, Liz (of Elizabeth Hall Events), allowed the Manolo Fiorata heels to inform and inspire every aspect of Ciera and Adam’s “Something old meets something blue” wedding. Purposeful pops of blue (ranging from steel to sky to periwinkle) punctuated an aesthetic that boasted antique-inspired details and sophisticated simplicity in all the right places.

The couple was married at 620 Loft and Garden—and the night itself was one of those rare Manhattan nights you only get once or twice a year, defined by perfect temperatures, a stunning sunset, and the loveliest dinner under the stars. The ambient tune of NYC was cut by the drop-dead amazing voice of Jenna Wynne and her band via Hank Lane. After a delicious kosher dinner, the guests made their way inside to dance and instead were first surprised by the groom singing Till There was You to his new wife.

The evening continued with the hurrah, dancing, and all the revelry in the world—with guests leaving with both the indescribable buzz of a great New York City evening….and (just as importantly) custom blue-and-white cookies from the beloved William Greenberg Desserts.
    [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]In March 2022, one week after their one-year dating anniversary, Adam told Ciera they had to take one of his clients to lunch. When Ciera finished getting ready, Adam was waiting in the living room and said he had one more anniversary present for Ciera. He gave her a photo album of pictures from their relationship with notes added. On the last page was a hand-drawn picture of the elevator in the couple’s building paired with the text, “What’s next?”

They walked out of their apartment, where, to Ciera’s surprise, the hallway was lined with rose petals. He guided Ciera to the roof of their building, where she was met with more rose petals and 300 roses. It was a beautiful, unseasonably warm March day and Ciera’s favorite Taylor Swift song, Enchanted, was playing. Adam dropped to a knee, proposed, and Ciera—by now you know—said yes! They went on to celebrate with their families at the Crosby Hotel, followed by dinner at Kuxe in Greenwich Village (the restaurant they went to on the day they said, “I love you” to each other for the first time).

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Ciera is a fashion girl at heart—so she chose both her wedding gown and wedding-weekend attire with all of the intention in the world.

With Sophia Richie’s wedding fresh in her mind, Ciera chose a vintage Chanel shift dress from What Comes Around Goes Around in Soho to wear to her rehearsal dinner. About a week before her wedding, she was still trying to track down white Chanel slingbacks to complete the look. When she mentioned this on a call with her planner, Liz immediately reached out to her personal shopper contacts who found a pair of coveted tweed slingbacks (score!).

For her day-of dress, Ciera fell in love with a timeless gown she found at Emily Hart Bridal in Overland Park, Kansas (her hometown). She knew she wanted her mom and grandma to experience the dress-shopping process with her, so her mom scheduled two appointments when Ciera was back home. While she didn’t expect to find “the one” at either of these appointments, she couldn’t stop thinking about the simple elegance of a Emily Hart Collection dress she tried on. The long train, buttons, and simplicity of the gown checked all of her boxes—and she added a custom-designed pair of sleeves to bring in a bit of playfulness. (Psst…she threw her sleeves in the air at the reception—for a new take on the traditional bouquet toss—and the photos of this moment are some of Ciera’s favorites!)[/field]
    [field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”][/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Adam is a lover of color—so the couple knew run-of-the-mill black digs wouldn’t do. Instead, he went with a bespoke Alton Lane midnight-blue tuxedo. The deep blue hue ended up complimenting the chuppah flowers perfectly.[/field]

    [/board_carousel]
    [section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Ciera and Adam wanted to create a dining experience that was rooted in refined classics and encouraged meaningful connection.

For cocktail hour in the garden, Simply Divine created two signature cocktails that perfectly encompassed Adam and Ciera’s personalities and preferences. “Adam’s Negroni” (gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, orange peel) was a total classic—while “Ciera’s White Linen” (gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, elderflower liqueur, cucumber slices, soda water) felt fresh, inspired, and effortless.

Guests enjoyed a seated dinner under the New York City sky—amidst an atmosphere that was nothing short of magical—and, as expected, the miso-glazed black cod was a fan-favorite. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Throughout every guest touch point, Liz aimed to recreate, not just the look of the Manolo Blahnik heels, but the feeling they first inspired in Ciera—a cross between love-at-first-sight that catches you by the best kind of surprise and age-old romance that makes you feel right at home.

Stationer Nicole Catherine Ferguson of Every Little Something crafted the dreamiest letterpress invitations complete with custom-curated stamps and a hand-painted envelope-liner landscape that transported recipients world away to the romance of Italy (where Ciera and Adam honeymooned).

Taking notes from the antique aesthetic of the Manolo Blahniks, Liz chose a beautiful vintage lace overlay from couture linen rental company Nüage Designs for the reception tables. Nicole then carried on that same vintage feel in the gorgeous blind-embossed menus she created, which were inspired by an antique French picture frame. The combination meant guests were met with a show-stopping moment upon finding their seats—which is exactly what Ciera wanted.

Whisper and Brook created the most nuanced florals that perfectly paralleled the heels: romantic, eye-catching, and defined by distinct pops of blue. Hydrangeas, garden roses, and light-blue delphiniums stole the show everywhere they appeared—and a chuppah that was the definition of lush quickly became one of the event details guests couldn’t stop raving about. (Ciera’s father-in-law even gave some of the floral design a second life by planting delphiniums in his yard).[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]“Simple—but sophisticated and stunning” was the name of the game with Ciera and Adam’s wedding, and the cake was the ultimate embodiment of this concept. William Greenberg designed a clean, classic three-tiered stunner.
    [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]When Liz found out Ciera and Adam refer to each other as “Bunny” and “Bear,” she knew she had to incorporate their pet-names somehow—but she wanted to do so in a subtle and sophisticated way. Look closely and you’ll find Nicole’s custom bunny and bear illustrations in the couple’s invitation suite, on the reception bar front, and as cutouts on guests’ tables. Ciera was blown away and said it felt like, “our little inside secret.”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Adam surprised Ciera with a beautiful rendition of the Beatles’ Till There Was You at the reception. It was Adam’s parents’ first-dance song at their wedding—and one he debuted in the shower for Ciera about a month before the wedding (making it the perfect combination of something old and something new).[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The Chuppah is such a meaningful part of a Jewish wedding, so the goal was to make sure this piece was a true focal point and show-stopper from every angle. Whisper and Brook went above and beyond to create that “dripping in florals” look the couple wanted—with an incredibly lush combination of greenery, blue hydrangeas, and white roses. It really felt like an effortless extension of the venue itself with its dreamy garden vibes.

The Statement Escort Card Display At This Twin Willow Gardens Wedding Looks Like An Actual Work Of Art!

    [section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The ceremony was all white and green, very classic and quintessentially “wedding”, and then the wedding reception colors were shades of neutrals including cream, taupe, champagne, and beige, with pops of blush, peach, and gold. This allowed a different feeling and experience for guests going from ceremony to dinner, two distinctly different spaces.
    [/field]
    [field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The vision for the wedding was an outdoor celebration in a garden setting that captures the spirit of the Pacific Northwest. We wanted a wedding that represented our shared values and interests including inclusivity, hospitality, good food, and a beautiful ambiance filled with flowers. Twin Willow Gardens was a venue that provided a quintessential Pacific Northwest experience with its lush, forested ceremony site and expansively beautiful gardens. Bao-Tram & Tuan wanted to meld that coveted Pacific Northwest feel with a fine-art, elegant wedding style. With the help of Events by Genevieve and by bringing their own floral ingenuity to the table, they successfully added a romantic, fine-art flair to this already beautiful garden venue all while creating an unforgettable experience for their guests.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]After living together for two years in Baltimore, MD while BT was finishing up graduate school at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Tuan and BT moved to Seattle, WA in January 2019, got a puppy, and began to settle down.

Tuan proposed to BT on the morning of September 14, 2019 at Seward Park in South Seattle with just the two of them. It was a moment that was months in the making. He went as far as pretending to take an interest in photography just to pick up a nice camera to record the proposal.

The day before the proposal, Tuan convinced BT to join him for a short walk and photo session at Seward Park, but little did BT know that it was a photo session for their engagement. As the two walked the path of the park they frequented throughout their relationship, Tuan briefly disappeared from BT’s sights. She eventually found him in an opening in the woods right off of the usual path. A camera was set up in the distance and the two stood together for a picture. It was there that Tuan told Bao-Tram the camera was actually recording a video. Trembling, he glared at her eyes, stuttered his feelings with a face full of tears, and got down on one knee to ask her to marry him. She said “yes!”

The bride dawned three different looks on the wedding day. She wore a fitted backless, mermaid Berta dress that had delicate hand sewn beads, beaded straps, slightly sheer skirt with a long train and the iconic Berta bow. She loved the form-fitting silhouette and the intricate details, and the playful velvet bow on the waist was a favorite small but important detail! During the reception, she changed into her Vietnamese ao dai from Thai Nguyen Atelier, otherwise known as the fairy gown mother from Netflix’s Say I Do. For the very last portion of the evening, the bride changes into a fun and flirty dress from BCBG Max Azria for the first dance and getaway. It had fun tulle pieces and layers which twirled magically during dancing and was the perfect lightweight but elegant piece for running down a row of sparklers and hopping into the getaway car!

BT & Tuan regularly refer to themselves as “foodies”. They travel to eat, they cook for their friends and family, and experiencing food with their community brings them great joy. They wanted to treat their guests to a unique culinary experience. Instead of having one catering company oversee all the food, the couple recruited their favorite chefs and caterers to make a custom menu that kept guests satisfied all night long. As guests departed the whimsical ceremony nestled in the woods, they were greeted with an array of appetizers that were truly unique. Bao-Tram & Tuan had the pleasure of working with Chef Roman Allen and Chef Young Cho to curate their passed appetizers. Chef Roman Allen is the Executive Chef of the Pepper Club Las Vegas while Chef Young is the Executive Chef of Sugo Seattle. The passed appetizers consisted of: Yellowtail Buds w/ Strawberry Yuzu Sauce Kobe Beef Teriyaki Tacos w/ Jalapeno & Sriracha garnish Shrimp Ceviche Bluefin Poke Tacos Caprese served w/ Extra Virgin Olive Oil The cocktail hour featured a lavish charcuterie table from Graze Together, another Vietnamese-owned vendor. The couple wanted to incorporate tropical Asian fruits (dragon fruit, longan, rambutan, etc.) for a unique touch and to delight the Vietnamese aunties in attendance. The main entrée was Spanish seafood and meat paella from Paella House that was cooked in large pans in front of the wedding guests. The couple was inspired to serve paella at their wedding after taking a paella cooking class in Barcelona, Spain. They loved the theatrical and communal aspect of it. BT & Tuan knew the added element of live cooking during our cocktail hour would be a treat for their guests as the aromas of paella diffused through the wedding venue right before the reception dinner. For a late night snack, they served Molly Moon’s Ice Cream via Aha Party Co. ice cream cart and Mr. Green Bubble Boba with Traditional Milk Tea w/ Tapioca Jelly, Fruit Tea with Lychee Jelly and Fruit Bits, and Vietnamese Popcorn Chicken and garlic fries. Lastly, an end of the night dessert table featured a finale of Macadon Macarons, Mango Pannacotta, Matcha Tiramisu, and Custard Fruit Bites from Nicole Sammie. There were two full bars during the festivities, one at either end of the venue to keep guests mingling all night long. Featured were the couple’s signature drinks: Hers- Spicy Mango Margarita His- Blackberry Whiskey Lemonade

    [field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The floral design for this wedding day is part of what made it so unique! Not simply because of the floral creations themselves, but because the couple (affectionately known as a #coupleofflowers) happens to also be award-winning wedding floral designers! They knew it would be impossible to execute such a grand floral vision on their own wedding day, after all, they were getting married! They designed and planned the floral arrangements for their day and then recruited the help of their friends to pull it all together. The bouquet: “My florist friend, the Traveling Stem, created my bridal bouquet and bridesmaid bouquets. Flowers in the wedding bouquets were mostly floral with minimal greenery including: honey dijon roses, quicksand roses, peonies, David Austin white garden roses, Cafe Latte roses, cappuccino roses, white stock, and ranunculus.” (from the Bride) Boutonniere: “The groom created his own boutonniere with Sahara spray roses, hellebore, white lisianthus, and olive trig. Tuan helped make boutonnieres for his eight groomsmen.” Located in the woods of Twin Willow Gardens, you felt encompassed by the lush forestry of the ceremony. The bride and groom wanted to complement that feeling so they decided to do all white flowers, a large aisle runner, and keep the more dramatic pieces to the back of the aisle, to not take away from the forestry feeling up front. They kept the arch simple and decorated it with three lanterns. The all-white ceremony florals was a “David Austin wedding” with 500 fluffy white and cream colored garden roses. All in all, there were over 3000 roses used throughout the wedding design. They wanted to create a floral and decor story that pulled guests in and kept them interested. The reception featured several different high and low elements between centerpieces, hanging installations, and ground pieces to bring guests’ eyes to different areas as they entered the tent. Elevated centerpieces on gold Harlow stands and lush floral runners for two long tables were filled with seasonal and local floral products, perfect for a garden wedding including peonies, roses, raspberry branches, blueberry branches, mint leaves. A mix of round and rectangular seating was utilized to keep the floor plan interesting and provide dimension. While the florals were a statement piece in the ceremony and reception, that floral story continued throughout the entire event. From the bar top, the receiving line backdrop, to the Vintage Porsche getaway car, lush, garden-inspired floral arrangements kept the design cohesive and inspired guests at every turn.

    [/field]
    [field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The cake from Honey Crumb Cakes had a matte beige fondant exterior with torn edges cuffs that matched the color and texture of the hand-made paper in the wedding invitations. It was decorated with hand-painted details and all life-like sugar flowers featuring white garden roses inspired by David Austin, ranunculus, spray roses, hydrangea buds, and blush peony – perfect for a florist couple. Inside was a decadent lemon cake with blackberry; and while it was almost too beautiful to eat, they didn’t let that stop them from enjoying this delicious piece of art!

    [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The groom and his parents walked down the aisle to Ryuichi Sakamoto – Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence. The wedding party entrance song was Can’t Help Falling In Love by Kina Grannis and the bride made her debut to River Flows In You, by Yiruma.

During the reception, the couple shared their first dance to At My WOrst by Pink Sweat$ ft. Kehlani, the father daughter dance was to Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion, and the mother son dance was to God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You by NSYNC.

Chris Anderson played live jazz music during cocktail hour and it was a dream come true for Tuan & BT to have him there. [/field]
    [field title=”Special Detail #1″]

The Escort Display was a stunning statement piece that brought function and sentiment together. With the phrase “Bloom where you’re planted” across the top (a nod to the couple’s floral-focused lifestyle) and their custom crest in the center, the escort display continued the floral-centered aesthetic present throughout the rest of the wedding day design. It featured 22 glass cloches, each containing unique floral arrangements and featuring the names of their wedding guests with their designated table number. Guests were mesmerized by the grandness of the escort display and loved admiring the floral arrangements featured within the glass cloches.

    [/field]
    [field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The Bride wore a custom ao dai created by Netflix’s Thai Nguyen. From the bride, “There’s nothing more surreal than meeting someone you’ve watched on TV face to face! Walking into the boutique of a celebrity designer like Thai Nguyen and knowing I was going to have the opportunity to work one-on-one with him to create an element that held so much cultural importance for my wedding day was certainly a highlight of the wedding planning experience.” The ao dai was ivory in color with floral headed lace, silk pants, soft pleated tulle ruffle sleeves and a traditional Vietnamese headpiece.

    [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Who doesn’t dream of making a glamorous getaway on their wedding day? Bao-Tram & Tuan chose a vintage Porsche for this special moment, but wanted to add their own flair to tie even the getaway car into the wedding day design. That’s why they prioritized a striking floral installation on the back of the car. Not only did it make for the most romantic getaway moment; it provided the perfect photo opportunity for an epic photo op! [/field]

Monet Moment: A Floral-Infused Impressionistic Love Affair

    [section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]From event planner and designer, Michlle Layman of Events by Elle:
This editorial shoot was inspired by the Impressionist master himself, Claude Monet, the signature shades of blue in Water Lilies, and the pristine white interiors of the Musée de l’Orangerie. Lovers of Monet’s work since childhood, our team was excited about designing a world where weddings and art intertwined. The vision resonated with Ashely Hotka of Good Earth Floral Design: “The blue hues of the Water Lilies series, the whimsical pastel parasols, the painterly meadows- let’s bring Monet’s works to life!” Reminiscing, photographer Claire Ryser recalls, “My late grandfather was a fine art painter, I remember playing hide and seek among his canvases and drop cloths, surrounded by oil paintings of prairies, lush river scenes, and meadows, all in the Impressionist style. It means the world to me that this team and I had a chance to bring the gardens of Monet’s village to life inside the The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.”

Sareh Nouri’s stunning Something Blue Collection was the cornerstone piece and all elements were centered around this fiercely feminine, avant-garde gown design! The Hydrangea gown truly cast a spell on us and completed our Impressionist and Avant-Garde vision.

A custom hand-painted backdrop was made specifically for this editorial by the incredible Jeremy Ellsworth to incorporate an additional fine art element. From photographer Claire Ryser: “Using a painted backdrop is another way to create a fine-art-inspired feel to your wedding day portraits. It’s also another fantastic way to incorporate your color palette consistently throughout the day’s photography.” Impressionism is having such a moment and couples will be inspired by these enchanting styles, romantic color palettes, and depictions of overflowing garden floral designs. As Monet once said, “I must have flowers, always, and always.” It’s a testament to the enduring influence of art on love and celebration. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Shades of blue and a luscious garden-inspired palette of yellow, cream, violet, rose, blush, and mauve.
    [/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]After having lingered for hours through the panoramic gleaming white rooms of Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris, our photographer, Claire Ryser, knew the venue for this art-inspired editorial had to be white, bright and open. The grand foyer of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts was the perfect choice. It provided a pristine and luxurious canvas with sky-lit, soaring ceilings and an expansive glass tent-like awning, allowing the outdoors and sunlight into our imagery. The clean lines and sleek design of the all-white ballroom allowed the color and texture in the design to stand out in contrast.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Featuring and centered around the breathtaking Hydrangea gown from Sareh Nouri’s Something Blue Collection was an obsession for our photographer, Claire Ryser. “I couldn’t catch my breath after seeing the collection debut, and quite honestly, I became obsessed. It’s feminine, dramatic, and so avant-garde, flying in the face of the traditional all-white wedding gown. It’s perfect for a couple who wants to add a fashion-forward element to their day and wear a non-traditional yet gorgeous formal gown.” Another gown from this collection we featured is Last First Kiss, with perfectly placed blue bows dotting the back of the gown and on the sleeve. The Something Blue Collection is stunning against the gleaming venue and cascading florals. Couples wanting to add classic and timeless pops of color can also take note of the gorgeous Italian-made silk and floral heels from Something Bleu. The shoes complete the look and are an extension of the theme. Delicate heirloom pearl jewelry was our “something borrowed” here. From Claire Ryser: “I absolutely love Incorporating family heirlooms into the fashion for the day. The timelessness of vintage pieces in addition to the nostalgia is what great fashion moments are made of!”.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Shades of blue steal the show for this color palette, gleaning inspiration from Sareh Nouri’s “Something Blue” Collection and the breathtaking Hydrangea gown. Additionally, Good Earth Floral and Events by Elle curated everything based on a luscious garden-inspired palette by adding romantic tones of yellow, violet, rose, blush, and mauve. Much of the floral was sourced from our floral designer’s personal flower garden, making this an even more sentimental moment for our team. Our photographer, Clare Ryser says, “When I think of the famous Impressionist works, I picture sunlit meadows, serene gown-adorned women, and colorful gardens. Seeing this meadow-inspired look come to life indoors in the heart of the city brought me so much joy.”

Texture was a key consideration for floral, the dress, and especially the invitation suite.

From Good Earth Floral: “We didn’t want the florals to be tightly structured – the goal was to have the floral flow and grow upwards along the staircase at varying heights with creeping greenery and vines to really pull off an overflowing garden look. Inspired by the lighting gradients and the depth created by his brush strokes, we made intentional choices in our floral installations to play with gradient shades of blues, yellows, lavenders, and mauves. Visually heavy florals like hydrangea were nestled towards the base of the arrangement while soft dancing textures like queen Anne’s length floated up and up towards blue cloudy skies.”

Yellow Brick Graphics incorporated floral-inspired colors into the stationery for such a cohesive yet old-world feel, with monogrammed and embossed velvet invitations, delicate painted brush strokes within the textured envelope liners, silk tassels, and custom wax seals.

We added airy pops of yellow baby’s breath and hand tied satin bows to the sleek blue champagne coups as well, mixing the modern and meadow together. The essence of Impressionism, with its play of light, color, and texture really did influence every decision.
    [/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]Would a Monet-inspired work be complete without a parasol? Good Earth Floral added a surprising and whimsical touch of to a traditional white parasol by adorning it with bouncy, airy, and romantic floral. From our photographer, Claire Ryser: “The flowers she selected for this reminded me of the dashed and dotted brush strokes of a painting! I’m loving non-traditional personal flowers and this parasol was probably my favorite piece!”. A basket bouquet was an absolutely darling touch to complete a fresh take on personal flowers.
    [/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]The Impressionism-inspired meadowy, garden style floral isn’t solely for the countryside. Don’t be afraid to incorporate elements of cascading, climbing, and airy florals in romantic color palettes – this will soften any venue! From photographer Claire Ryser: “Impressionism is all about light and color play, seasonal floral, and giving off an air of avant-garde, non-traditional whimsy. Your stationery, shoes, gown, and personal flowers are all areas that can be used as your canvas and avenue to incorporate artful stylistic elements. [/field]

For S&W, their dream was a fairytale wedding set within the enchanting confines of a castle. However, they wanted their dream wedding to be close to home, eliminating the need for a lengthy journey to a far-off land. After extensive research, Manna Sun Events, their dedicated wedding planner, stumbled upon the ideal location that would bring their dream to life. It was the embodiment of their vision, a place where their fairytale wedding could become a reality For this couple, their shared love of Studio Ghibli’s enchanting animes held a special place in their hearts. Among their cherished Ghibli characters, Kiki from “Kiki’s Delivery Service” stood out as a symbol of independence, adventure, and a touch of whimsy. It was only natural that they decided to incorporate Kiki into their wedding design, infusing their special day with a dash of Ghibli magic. The wedding details were carefully curated to weave the essence of Kiki into every aspect of the celebration. The table number cards, for instance, featured adorable Kiki herself holding a load of breads. And the welcome board depicted Kiki and Tombo sitting amidst a romantic flower field looking back as they are expecting someone to join them.

They became friends with many of the guests through board games. To cater to this shared interest and infuse an extra layer of enjoyment into their event, the couple made a creative decision during the cocktail hour. Instead of the conventional cocktail tables, they opted to set up game tables. These tables were adorned with an assortment of their favorite board games, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for their guests. [/field]
    [field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The floral and décor choices for this wedding seamlessly blend with the overarching design concept of a fairytale infused with the whimsy of Studio Ghibli. The floral arrangements were abundant, featuring a lush and flourishing design that incorporated the color scheme, punctuated by vibrant bursts of bright colors. The ceremony arch, adorned with these resplendent blooms, served as a breathtaking focal point, setting the stage for the magical day that lay ahead. One of the most captivating elements of the floral décor was the dreamy floral sweetheart chairs. These chairs, adorned with cascading flowers and greenery, provided a captivating and romantic backdrop for the couple. Throughout the day, from the ceremony to the reception, the couple and their guests found themselves surrounded by a profusion of blooms, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that truly embodied the fairytale theme.

A Luxe, European Inspired Wedding at Vizcaya Museum

    [field title=”Wedding Colors”]White, green, beige, light pink[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The wedding was effortless, romantic, intimate, old world — an overall extension of the beauty that Vizcaya naturally offers. Guests felt as if they’d been whisked away to an Italian seaside garden, on a beautiful spring day. The couple had traveled to Europe with their favorites being Florence, Tuscany & the south of France. So they wanted to bring elements of their travel into the wedding — lush, loose greenery and wild growing florals throughout as if it had always been there, al fresco dining with long tables, low, soft light and an intimate guest list. The second dress was a custom Ines Di Santo gown with feathers & sparkles — perfect for the party!

The ceremony featured a lush floral arch, full aisle floral runners, and luxe white garden chairs. The couple chose to place the ceremony among the beautiful moss trees at Vizcaya, curating a romantic atmosphere that was different than the epic views of the water and villa where the cocktail hour and reception took place. The reception took place al fresco, with a mix of long and round tables with hanging chandeliers, taper candles, lush floral centerpieces, and low intimate lighting. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The bride has a major sweet tooth so the cake was major — it was an almond cake made with toasted almonds paired with vanilla buttercream and dulce de leche filling. [field title=”Special Detail #2″]The couple featured their dog Arlo in the ceremony as a special ring bearer and on their cocktail hour napkins. [/field]

An Al Fresco Destination Garden Soiree in the Temecula Valley

    [section title=”The Planning”]
    [field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were blush, pink, spring green and gold.

    [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]From beginning to end of my time planning with Lisa and Gerardo, there was only one desire for their wedding, “We want an explosion of flowers and for it to feel like the epitome of Spring in a garden fairytale setting”. And we ran with that design vision! Florals became the main design detail that we wove cohesively throughout the event to create their Al Fresco Garden Soiree in Temecula Valley. From the ceremony to the seating chart to the table numbers to the stationery to Lisa’s gown + shoes to the reception setup to their guest’s outfit stylings, we had an array of floral or garden motifs! The wedding aesthetic leaned old world, romantic, and timeless with a few touches of modern.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Lisa and Gerardo’s favorite pastime together is hiking all the national parks and enjoying outdoorsy adventures! When it came time to Gerardo wanting to pop the question, they planned a family trip to Yellowstone. It was raining and snowing the whole time and it felt like it was ruining Gerardo’s proposal plans. As it turned out, they had only one day of sun and beautiful weather throughout the trip so Gerardo decided to go for it and pop a knee and with the majestic mountains as their backdrop, Lisa said YES!!! And they were surrounded by their family of loved ones to celebrate![/field]

Lisa’s stunning gown was by Netta Benshabu in the style Florence from the ‘Belle comme L’amour’ collection! There could not have been a more perfect gown for a Spring, Garden wedding! With a cat eye neckline, hundreds of 3D floral applique cascading into a tulle A-line skirt, this gown truly screamed garden romance! Lisa customized the gown to have detachable sleeves which used material from the actual gown. The sleeves were worn during portraits and the ceremony and removed for the reception! Styled by NBD paired Lisa’s bridal look with blush heels from Bella Belle Shoes which featured a block heel and 3D flowers. To complete her bridal styling, understated earrings from Untamed Petals were added and a beautiful hair vine from Twigs & Honey was chosen. This allowed Lisa to look and feel beautiful on her wedding day yet her accessories complimented her stunning gown and allowed it to be the star of her look!

    [/field]
    [field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

To stay cohesive with Lisa’s love of all things pink, she chose a champagne pink dress for her gals from Shona Joy. With their outdoor wedding, the sunlight hit the gal’s dresses so beautifully! And it complimented the flowers and the outdoor space so well.

    [/field]
    [field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

For Gerardo’s guys and his baby sister as groomswoman, Styled by NBD chose a soft gray colored suit and blush pink ties from Friar Tux that paired perfectly with the bridesmaid’s color palette.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Lisa and Gerardo are total foodies so having exceptional food and drinks was really important to them! Guests were treated to an unforgettable food experience all night! After the ceremony, we began with signature cocktails, champagne and wine paired with tray-passed delights like ceviche, empanadas and bruschetta. Once they were welcomed into the garden reception space, a boba bar was available for their enjoyment all night long! Fun fact: Lisa is known amongst family and friends as the BOBA QUEEN so including a boba bar was definitely needed! Strawberry Fields Salad started the exciting delectable dinner feast. A plated dual entree came next for each guest, which included Herb Rubbed Marinated Santa Maria Tri Tip and Grilled Tiger Shrimp paired with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. For dessert, their guests got to enjoy wedding cake and a beautiful dessert display with French Macarons, Fruit Tarts, Creme Brulee and Cream Pie. But wait, there’s more!! For a late night snack, Lisa and Gerardo treated their guests to a Taco Station — it was really important to them that each guest felt taken care of, and that no one left their event hungry![/field]
    [field title=”Florals & Decor”]

To create the “explosion of Spring” that Lisa dreamed of, there were flowers and greenery in every area of their event. The floral design aesthetic by Lily Roden Floral Studio was garden romance, whimsy abounding, and ethereal. For the ceremony, Lily dressed up the venue’s garden arbor in an array of blooms in white and pinks which served as the classic wedding “arch”. Ground arrangements were added down the aisle, alternating on each side. The reception was created to feel like a hidden garden space with an overhead of string lighting, greenery crawling up the structural columns, a beautiful arch behind the couple’s sweetheart table and a garden hedge that welcomed each guest. The reception tables were a mixture of long tables connected throughout the garden lawn. Each table featured a garden-style centerpiece, ikebana baby arrangements, pillar candles and a sheer gauze runner while each place setting had a gold foil menu and paper key name card.. This created a spectacular guest experience as we wanted every guest to feel welcomed and wowed as they found their seat. The vibe for the reception was enchanting, romantic, and whimsical, the perfect setting for an al fresco garden soiree.

    [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]It wouldn’t be an epic garden soiree without a beautiful, floral nest for their 2-tier cake! Their cake featured a smooth buttercream in a delicate, soft blush. The flavors they chose were Banana Saigon as Lisa and Gerardo LOVE banana flavored things and Almond Cake with Lavender Buttercream to align with the Spring Garden vision! Along with their Cake, Lisa and Gerardo had a beautiful dessert bar in a French Vintage hutch with Fruit Tarts, French Macarons, Creme Brulee and Banana Cream Pie.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Due to the Hidden Garden vibe of the reception setup and the garden theme, Lisa and Gerardo decided to include a photo scavenger hunt for their guests! It was such a fun and interactive idea for guests to enjoy. Each table had a QR code that guests would scan to find different prompts that they should take pictures of or with. Lisa and Gerardo wanted guests to get out of their seats and mingle with guests that they didn’t know![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Their guests understood the assignment! When they heard that Lisa and Gerardo were having a spring, flower explosion of a wedding in a hidden garden, they came dressed to impress. We had ladies with garden hats and floral dresses and gents with fun patterns and bold colors! It’s always so fun to see a clear theme represented in the outfit choices![/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]This wedding was also a beautiful celebration of the couple’s two cultures and the significance of family. They chose to honor their family by including all of their siblings into the wedding party. A detail that we chose to include for both of their cultures, was the seating chart bud vase. A tradition with both of their cultures is that at the end of the wedding, guests will take home any flower arrangements, bud vases, centerpieces. So we chose to go with a bud vase seating chart/favor for each family unit as a way to continue to lean into the floral theme but also allow guests to take something beautiful home! [/field]

Madi was in Florida with friends to what she thought was celebrate one of her friend’s birthdays. Grant was originally supposed to join the trip, but had said he was sick and could no longer make it. She fully believed that story and thought she was on a friend trip! One night when they had all gotten ready to go to dinner, instead of heading out, her friends led her to the resort bathroom where her mom and sisters were waiting for her with the dress that she was wanting to get engaged in. After she got dressed, Grant appeared and led her out to the beach where he had candles, flowers, and a Bible with her new name on it. He popped the question there at sunset on the beach of the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. With the help of Whitney with Engaged Events, they then began to plan their dream wedding in 3 short months.

Romantic Hummingbird Nest Ranch Wedding With Classic Touches

    [section title=”The Planning”]
    [field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were white, neutrals, gold, and greenery with accents of soft pinks and blues.

    [/field]
    [field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

From Hannah and Ajay – We wanted to create an atmosphere and ambiance that was a reflection of us and our relationship. The vision for our wedding was timeless and romantic with intimate details that made our wedding stand out to our guests. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the guidance of our wedding planner, Hailey Lillard of Detailed Touch Events. She is the epitome of what you should look for in a wedding planner. She has amazing relationships with her vendors, she is extremely organized, she has strong communication and has the ability to bring your vision to life. We couldn’t have done it without her and her team. From DTE – From a design perspective, I was inspired by the innate beauty of the Hummingbird Nest Ranch venue. The specific area of the venue that Hannah and Ajay chose for their ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were already incredibly beautiful, and I wanted the design to complement rather than compete with these natural surroundings. Initially, they were inclined towards a traditional palette of whites and greenery, but when I introduced subtle accents of blush pink and powder blue, they absolutely loved it. This color palette was a subtle yet effective way to introduce depth and softness to prevent the design elements from falling flat within the natural greenery of the venue. One of the highlights of the wedding design, for me, was bringing Hannah’s vision of a canopy of twinkling lights to life above the reception area. Set in an open grassy field, it created a warm, intimate, and inviting atmosphere for all the guests to enjoy.

    [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From Bride & Groom, Hannah & Ajay – We never imagined two kids falling in love in high school would lead us to where we are today. Ajay got the desire to propose after he gazed into our puppy Jaxxon’s eyes and he knew in that moment that it was time to get down on one knee after 11 years of being together. Jaxxon played such a big role in the proposal that we knew that he had to be incorporated into our special day. Not only did he attend our wedding but he was featured in many details of our wedding.[/field]

Appetizers and dinner were provided by Command Performance Catering. Hannah and Ajay were dedicated to infusing their personal touch into every aspect of their wedding day, and the menu was no exception. Blueberries from Ajay’s family farm adorned their salad and plated dessert, a delightful apple blueberry crumble served with vanilla ice cream. Pistachios from the family farm were also featured in the pistachio-crusted halibut dinner option. To cap off the night, guests enjoyed burgers and chips from Hannah and Ajay’s favorite burger joint, In-N-Out, courtesy of a fun food truck that arrived during the dancing festivities. Hannah and Ajay had a playful touch in naming their specialty cocktails. One was dubbed ‘Mungers,’ a classic mix of Tito’s vodka, cranberry, and lime. The other was named ‘The Jaxx’ after their beloved dog, featuring tequila on the rocks garnished with a French bulldog stir stick and accompanied by a custom sketch of Jaxx on a cocktail napkin.

    [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The wedding reception showcased a thoughtful blend of aesthetics and comfort. The design combined farm chairs with elegant cane back chairs, creating an interesting contrast that emphasized the rustic-meets-elegant theme. Neutral and textured table linens were thoughtfully chosen, introducing a soft and inviting ambiance to the space. Crisp white hemstitch napkins were carefully coordinated with the white flower arrangements, providing a clean and cohesive look that felt both classic and contemporary. To enhance the atmosphere with a touch of romance, taper candles were incorporated into the tabletop design.

The florals were designed to compliment the outdoor setting, striking the perfect balance between loose and tightly arranged florals. Soft hints of blush and blues were introduced adding a beautiful dimension of tones to the tabletop decor.

Additionally, comfortable lounge sets were strategically positioned, flanking the seamless white dance floor. These lounge areas provided guests with cozy spaces to relax and socialize, ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all. Of course, we cannot forget the blanket of twinkle lights strung above the guests as they enjoyed the night away![/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]At first Hannah and Ajay weren’t interested in having a cake, however it was a very important wedding tradition that the father of the groom wanted them to incorporate. The couple’s idea of a modest single tier, cake just for the cake cutting tradition, quickly turned into a multi-tiered buttercream cake that featured their dog Jax after they met with the amazing Kimberly of The Butter End. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]We incorporating details that are meaningful to Hannah and Ajay. The first one being incorporating Ajay’s 1956 Ford F100 Restomod truck which is a family heirloom. Ajay and Hannah drove the truck up to their reception during the grand entrance and exited out of the truck to the reception. It was a hit amongst the guests! The second being included their dog Jaxx into numerous design elements such as a specialty cocktail name, cocktail napkins, french bulldog stir sticks, a fondant replica of him on their wedding cake and my favorite being a drawing of Jaxx on Hannah’s reception sneakers. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The couple absolutely loved including a painter on their wedding day to capture their wedding ceremony. She started at the ceremony site and then moved to the reception space to complete the portrait. During the reception, she unveiled the painting to the couple and they absolutely loved it.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Their invitation envelope liner as well as the illustration of the wedding venue was done by a dear friend of Hannah and Ajay’s. It was incredibly special to them to include this personal element into their wedding invitations. [/field]

Fine-Art Style in the Pacific Northwest at Lakewold Gardens

    [section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The wedding colors were white, ivory, champagne, and softest blush. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Lani & Jeremy wanted a wedding that felt classic, refined, and retained a fine-art appeal in the heart of the Pacific Northwest. They chose Lakewold Gardens because they loved the European-style architecture of the Wagnar House, the unique qualities like the mural in the foyer and the curved staircase, and of course, the breathtaking grounds. Featuring expansive gardens and a wisteria covered terrace, Lani knew as soon as she saw it that Lakewold Gardens was the venue for their special day.

With an intimate guest list of less than 30, Lani & Jeremy wanted to focus on providing their guests with an unforgettable experience and prioritizing details that would create a story. Inspired by the mural in the foyer, that story started the moment guests received their invitation, with the mural’s soft, garden aesthetic highlighted in the invitation suite. Throughout the day, guests were escorted from one beautiful scene to the next, each with intentional design elements that represented a continuation of that feeling; beautiful, inviting, and refined. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]On the brink of New Year’s Eve, Jeremy and Lani found themselves without solid plans. He tossed around some ideas, and Lani suggested a walk by Lake Washington to enjoy the upcoming fireworks. He was careful to make her think it was entirely her idea. As they strolled along the docks, Jeremy suggested they take some photos against the scenic lake backdrop. To Lani’s surprise, he dropped to one knee revealing a sparkling, vintage style ring. He then stood up and pointed to a passerby, and Lani quickly realized they were surrounded by friends working hard to capture the big moment! They ended the evening with a toast with their friends, New Year’s fireworks, and the precious memory of his proposal.[/field]

Her gown featured ruffled Chantilly lace with a gathered tulle tiered skirt, a deep v neckline and back, and the most beautiful lace and ribbon detailing in the bodice. Her shoes were Libby by Bella Belle, the perfect selection to compliment the lace embroidery in her gown. The warm ivory tone perfectly complimented the foyer mural that served as inspiration for so many of the days details. She wore a custom floor length veil and the same beautiful heirloom earrings that her mother wore on her own wedding day.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bridesmaids wore satin gowns in a blush pink with ruffled straps and a deep v back, a nod to the brides deep v, ruffle lined wedding gown. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Dinner was a highlight of the evening. With an intimate reception set on the terrace under sweeping wisteria vines, guests were treated to an incredible dining experience in the most magical setting.

Cocktail hour featured passed crab stuffed mushrooms and caprese salad on bamboo skewers as guests strolled through the gardens and sipped cocktails from the bar.

After guests were escorted to the terrace at the long, intimate dinner table, they enjoyed a plated meal featuring a delicious salad topped with gorgonzola cheese crumbles, caramelized pecans, blueberries and served with fresh strawberry vinaigrette shots. The main course featured sesame ginger salmon fillets garnished with black and white sesame seeds, chicken marsala, garlic chive mashed potatoes, roasted sweet mini-peppers and rustic breads served with sweet butter. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Lani and Jeremy’s floral design by Emerald City Flowers complimented the beautiful garden venue using lush blooms and greenery. Their thoughtfully curated floral selections included quicksand roses, young blackberry foliage, ranunculus, white delphinium, lisianthus, and huckleberry branches. Lani’s bridal bouquet was organic and romantic with white ranunculus, bouncy sweet peas, raspberry leaves, phlox, and garden roses. Wisps of greenery added movement and breadth.
The ceremony aisle was lined with garden-style floor arrangements, each full of whimsical greenery and exploding with blooms, mimicking the surrounded gardens.  At the forefront of the ceremony was the asymmetrical installation, designed to highlight the beautiful architecture of the Wagner House while continuing the garden feel.

The wedding cake was surrounded by a meadow of flowers that complimented the sugar flowers by Alewa Bakeshop including the sweetest seasonal berry details for their August wedding.

The long reception table featured bud cases of delicate blooms alongside larger arrangements, bringing the garden setting to the forefront of the meal. The sweetheart table was framed by an asymmetrical floral installation, garden-inspired ground arrangements, and centered tabletop arrangement complimented by bud cases on either side. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]One of the most beloved uses of the venue mural was in design of the gorgeous three-tier wedding cake. Hand made sugar flowers and berries, echoing the real florals used throughout the wedding day, adored each layer. It was hand-painted to include the mural scene, complete with the sweet little bird represented in both pieces of artwork. The bride asked Lisa of Alewa to surprise her with the design, and simply said she wanted it to have a fine-art feel and to feel cohesive with the overall wedding design. When the bride saw it for the first time on her wedding day, she was moved to tears! The roasted strawberry and white chocolate yuzu ganache cake was as delicious as it was beautiful. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Escort Display: As guests meandered through the gardens and made their way to the intimate reception, set under wisteria vines on the terrace, they made their way to the most beautiful escort display designating their seat assignment. With calligraphy by the bride, wax seal accents featuring the couples initials, the custom sign once again incorporated the mural venue as a backdrop. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The cake, it was so magnificent! Please see cake description above. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The invitation suite and paper products for this day are especially significant because the bride, who works in the tech industry, also happens to be incredibly talented and crafty. She designed and made her own invitations, complete with a custom envelop liner to reflect the beautiful mural from the venue. She and the groom wrote letters to each other, and she also did the calligraphy on the escort display and individual name cards featured at each guests table setting. She wanted the paper products to reflect the same soft, fine-art feel as the rest of the wedding design, setting the stage for the event the moment her guests received them. [/field]

Sage Green And White Spring Wedding in Florence

    [section title=”The Planning”]
    [field title=”Wedding Colors”]

When it comes to wedding colors, white and sage green make for a timeless and elegant combination. A white wedding is a classic, some gold accents in table decor give a touch of glamour. The addition of creamy tones adds depth and blush pick creates a romantic atmosphere. Our wedding colors were largely inspired by the beauty of Villa Cora and the history of Florence. We wanted to incorporate natural elements and colors, and when you walk around the grounds of Villa Cora, you see tons of beautiful roses and the gorgeous, intricate details within its historic walls. We went with whites, creams, vintage rose blush, and touches of green and gold.

    [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Florence and the Tuscan region as a whole is classically beautiful and romantic, and we wanted to stay true to this. We wanted to celebrate our love with a classically romantic and elegant wedding that fit flawlessly within the walls of Villa Cora. Roses were a big inspiration – from the florals to the menus, place settings and overall color scheme.
We wanted this to be an intimate wedding with our closest friends and family, where love and intimacy was felt by all. Place settings included our favorite quotes about love written by great writers and poets, and at the end of dinner, guests were surprised with handwritten letters by the bride and groom. These details were so important to us, because we were incredibly grateful that guests had made the trip to celebrate with us in our favorite city of Florence.

The wedding gown is the Bobbie dress by Justin Alexander. It has an intricate sweetheart style boustier which is designed with individually laser-cut flowers of different shapes and sizes and drapes over the shoulders, which the bride removed for portions of the evening and wore as a strapless dress. The long satin train contains satin-covered buttons all the way down the back of the dress, and a slit in the front allows for the bride to show some leg as well. The dress was described as romantic and classic, with a unique twist. It was purchased in Charleston, South Carolina at Bridal House of Charleston.
