Private Estate Wedding at the Bride’s Childhood Home

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Blush, slate blue, and lavender with accents of other Spring pastels [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]For this Black tie Spring Garden Party, a Sailcloth tent, and Spring botanicals set the stage for a romantic lakeside celebration. The ceremony took place in the bride’s parents’ backyard overlooking the lake and the Rocky Mountains, followed by a cocktail hour on the patio with beautiful cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres. A bag piper playing walked over the hill to surprise guests and lead them into the sailcloth tent for dinner and dancing. Heavy greenery and Spring blooms of Peonies, Sweet Peas, Roses and Ranunculus adorned the tables with butterflies dancing throughout.
A checkered wood and white dance floor was the centerpiece in the tent where guests danced all night long. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the Bride: Joe planned a birthday ski trip to Keystone for us for the weekend. He surprised me mid-run and got down on one knee. We then skied down to the base of the mountain and were surprised by both Joe’s out-of-state family, and my whole family, cheering and popping champagne on the patio. It was a dream! [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The bride and groom love Mexican and latin flavors, and they have a family home in Cabo so find themselves vacationing there often. We were inspired to incorporate these flavors into a non-traditional menu.

Passed hors d’oeuvres included Tostones with Green Plantain Fritters and Charred Corn Salsa, Chorizo y Queso Bites with Lime Crema and Tarragon Blossoms, and Smoked Chicken Arepas with Chayote Salsa.

Thir plated dinner menu began with a Citrus Avocado Salad, and then featured guests’ choice of entree Adobo Braised Short Ribs, and Curso de Pescado.

For dessert, in addition to wedding cake, mini desserts were passed as guests danced the night away and the Bavarian Cream-Filled Churros and Passion Orange Guava Tres Leches were a hit!

For late night snacks, a “taco cart” complete with Breakfast Quesadillas and Chips & Queso Fundido delighted guests.

Rounding out the theme, the Father of the Bride is a tequila connoisseur, so rather than toast with champagne, guests were given his favorite reposado tequila shots with his opening speech before the meal. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]As the owner of her own Interior Design Firm, Julia Wilkins Interiors, Julia has an eye for design. Early on, she fell in love with the Monique Lhuillier “Tuileries” pattern so we chose to incorporate the wallpaper through the stage facade and signage. We loved the butterflies sprinkled through the pattern, so we incorporated faux butterflies into the floral designs, and the place cards were die cut butterflies with each guests name calligraphed on vellum scrolls. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]A three tiered white cake, white buttercream confection adorned with fresh seasonal Spring blooms. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]During the ceremony, Julia & Joe did a celtic hand tying ceremony with three ribbons in the color palette of the wedding, blush, ivory, and slate blue. On two of the ribbons, representing each of them, were family cross heirlooms from both sides. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Julia’s mother, Nancy, painted watercolor flowers to incorporate into the signage, and programs. They were beautiful pieces of art, and a sentimental detail everyone loved. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The signature cocktails were names for Julia’s late grandmother, and their beloved dog. Marcia’s Rhubarb Marg, and the Bird dog botanical. Garnished with edible spring florals, these cocktails were as beautiful and meaningful as they were delicious! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]After the final song, as a finale for the wedding, an impressive fireworks display went off over the lake. All 175 guests then lined up for a sparkler exit to wish Julia & Joe well as they ran through on their way to a vintage Rolls Royce getaway car. The perfect end to the perfect day!

From the Bride: It’s hard to choose just one moment that was most special to us because the entire day from start to finish was a dream! Being surrounded by our closest family and friends in my childhood home and making the most significant and deep commitment of our lives was something I’ll never forget. The beauty of nature, combined with the elegant set up was incredible. When we followed the bag piper into the tent seeing it all or the first time, we were taken aback as it was even more beautiful than we had imagined. After a delicious meal, and memorable toasts, we dance and danced, and I felt like crying with the last song was coming an end. I could have lived in that celebration for a week! We couldn’t have asked for anything more for our wedding day and wish we could re-live it again and again! [/field]

Organic Texture Meets Modern Design at Roblar Winery

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Our color palette was a blend of sage green, cream, black, rose pink, and mustard yellow. I wanted our wedding colors to be an organic, natural feel that complemented the beautiful property of Roblar while maintaining a modern feel. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We envisioned a wedding that was both organic and modern. My passion for gardening and agriculture naturally led me towards a farm or barn venue, but I was adamant about avoiding anything overtly rustic or traditional. Roblar was perfect for us; the contrast of the black Tuxedo Barn against the lush vegetable garden, vineyard, and sprawling grounds was everything we had been searching for. To top it off, the spacious on-site home provided the perfect location to accommodate our loved ones and create a truly intimate experience during our wedding week.
Above all, we desired a wedding that was deeply personal and reflective of us as a couple. Every element, from the music and readings to the dinner tables named after our shared travel destinations, was carefully chosen to convey our love story.
[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]After dating for 6 years and knowing each other since highschool, Cameron proposed on one of our favorite hikes in Idyllwild, California. We were close to the highest point of the hike when he suggested we move off of the trail to check out the view. When I turned around from taking photos, he was holding a ring box. It was the last thing I was expecting and the most special and intimate place to propose! [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]We chose New West Catering because we love their restaurant Industrial Eats and they offer really unique and delicious options. Standout appetizers included lamb lollipops guests ate directly off the bone and mini rubens of beef tongue pastrami. For dinner we offered an option of Surf and Turf with filet of beef and pan roasted halibut, or a vegetarian option of roasted portobello mushroom.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]A very special aspect of wedding planning for me was working with Parker and Posies. The owner Brittany is a close friend of mine and I had so much fun working with her on everything from picking our wedding colors and designing tablescapes.

I loved working with Velvet Fox Designs for our wedding invitations, day-of paper, and signage! Their designs are so unique and fun and they really captured our personalities and style. My favorite piece was the ceremony pamphlets, which were actually in the shape of fans so that guests could use them to cool down. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The couple did not have a cake, instead they exchanged cupcakes.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Our ceremony was on the lawn of Roblar Farm with the breezy black pepper trees as our backdrop. One of our favorite memories from our wedding day was a unique moment we incorporated into the ceremony. Prior to exchanging rings, we invited our loved ones to participate in a collective expression of support for our marriage. Our officiant (and my Brother) encouraged everyone to cheer, clap, and voice their support on the count of three. It was a meaningful moment to see all of our guests erupt into enthusiastic applause and cheering. Some even jumped out of their seats! This moment filled our hearts with gratitude and served to remind us of the immense support network that surrounds us. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Our cocktail hour was hosted in my absolute favorite setting of Roblar Farm – the organic garden, under a pergola covered in grapevines, surrounded by blooming flowers and crops! We had signature bride and groom cocktails and even included a signature cocktail for our dog, Indie. To add a touch of fun and personality, we included cocktail napkins with bride vs. groom trivia questions like “Who made the first move?” and “Who is Indie’s best friend?”.

Our love of craft beer was another element we were eager to incorporate into the festivities. We worked with Tap Truck SB to have a special craft beer truck onsite and hand picked some of our favorite beers to serve throughout the reception. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]After our dinner in front of the Tuxedo barn, my husband delivered a heartfelt speech thanking our families and friends for their love and support. As he invited everyone inside for the reception, the barn doors rolled open behind him, revealing our band playing a lively song, our photobooth, dessert table and more. This surprise moment got everyone excited, and guests eagerly streamed inside to dance the night away! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]We surprised our guests with a silent disco hosted by one of our good friends and groomsman to keep the party going past the noise ordinance. The energy was electric as everyone let loose and embraced the fun, funky tunes. I will forever have a memory of taking my headphones off to hear everyone’s clomping feet and people singing “San Francisco, where’s your disco?” Even some of the wait staff from our catering company, New West Catering, couldn’t resist and joined in on the fun. They wore headphones while passing our late night bites of burgers and shoestring fries, or just joined us on the dance floor![/field]

A Breathtaking Array Of Bright Colors And Beautiful Views At The Iconic 620 Loft And Garden

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

Inspired by a recent trip to Europe and a love of color, this striking shoot planned and designed by Ness McGovern Events & Design marries old-world charm with a modern sensibility. With the iconic 620 LOFT AND GARDEN setting the stage, this shoot is elegant, refined, and could be something out of a fairytale, with New York City as the backdrop. This well-styled shoot is sure to inspire with delicate details that are rich, romantic, and just a touch glamorous. Industry talent from all over the East Coast came together to make magic. Photographer Manda Weaver Photography brings her fine art lens and effectively tells the tale of a romantic event through her images. Brandon Reynolds of Brandon Lee Films captures the emotions and love story of this real-life and recently married couple. The bride is wearing a Reem Acra wedding gown with whimsical textured flowers and a modern open-back. Stunning pressed-glass chargers and glassware from BorrowedBlu pull the entire tablescape together. While the groom’s white tuxedo by TheBlackTux provided a classic, upscale feel. A bright but whimsical, old-world and romantic feel was executed with coral sunset peonies, cabbage garden roses, ornate antique silver flatware and cloches framing moss and floral stems. We were really trying to make it as if one was in a lush Italian villa garden but in the middle of New York City with bright and colorful twist. Specifically, the florals chosen provide for organic and wild movement and structure. We really tired to marry formal and traditional with color which are usually not considered synonymous.

Classic Elegance With Soft And Sweet Dusty Blue Details

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors included white, cream/latte, neutrals, shades of green, and dusty blue.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Our vision was to create classy, yet modern elegance. Originally we planned to use only white, but then decided to add dusty blue as a detail – beautiful delphinium. Blue was also used at the invitations – lovely silk ribbon. Orchids brought a touch of luxury to the decor.
[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Patricia grew up in Escondido, California (about an hour outside of San Diego) and Martin grew up in Rokycany, Czech Republic (just an hour outside of Prague). Nobody would’ve ever thought that their paths would cross. But as it happens, fate brought them together one day when they both joined a company called Facebook. (you might have heard of it…)

At Facebook, Patricia was an iOS engineer and Martin was an Android engineer (destined to become the topic of their first fight!) Even though they worked on different teams, they occasionally met at company happy hours where Martin would crack jokes (as he always does) and make Patricia laugh.

This is probably where their story together would have ended if they hadn’t found out that Patricia was a singer and Martin played the piano pretty well. Word got around and one day they agreed to play together. As soon as the first notes rang out, the two were instantly swept away by each other. After the first success, they agreed every day to meet again to play and sing, until one day Patricia admitted she had fallen under his “music spell”. They inevitably started dating after that, and the rest is history :)

On May 21st, 2022, Martin proposed to Patricia while on a trip together in Paris. Martin suspiciously carried a backpack with him the whole trip (as he had a ring hidden in it), but insisted it was only so he could take a picnic blanket with him! Fortunately, Patricia is very trusting and did not find it strange at all. They spent the day scootering around the city, and finally settled down for the promised picnic by the Eiffel Tower at sunset. At that moment, Martin got down on one knee and popped the question. Needless to say, Patricia said yes![/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Flower selection we used: Peonies, Roses, Eustoma, Mathiola, Carnations, Blue Delphinium (bride’s favorite), Sweet pea, and greenery selection (NO eucalyptus). For the ceremony, a classical white arch was adorned with white flowers with a touch of pale blue. At the reception, we had white tablecloths, silver cutlery, crystal glasses, white wooden chairs, and dusty blue details, with dusty blue napkins made specifically for the couple.

A Tented Summer Wedding at Dormie Club in a Neutral Palette

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Green, White[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Tented summer fete. We wanted a celebration that was neutral and classic. Inspired by taupe, white, black. Wanted to have others dress in black tie optional.

FROM AMY OF PLUME EVENTS: “The wedding was thoughtfully and intentionally designed to both welcome and honor loved ones. There was a focus on guest experience–unexpected, elegant details and lush florals, paired with lively music, exciting menu options, and spaces to
encourage congenial gathering, offered friends and family the chance to indulge in this rare and special occasion. The couple’s personal style was reflected in the color palette, the careful selection of minimal yet impactful details, and the blend of classic and modern elements. The color palette was black and white, with taupe and wood-toned accents for warmth and depth. Nods to golf were included subtly, most notably in the round shapes that can be seen throughout the design.”

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Maya had no idea. Lanto popped the question during a photo shoot with their rescue pup Troy for Christmas. A friend was taking their photos and asked: “Do you have any props?” It was then that Lanto took out a new collar and dog tag for Troy that said: “Will you marry my mom?” on it.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Food was catered by Dormie Golf Club, and incorporated elements that were a nod to Lanto and the PGA. It included golf ball cake pops and spherical ice cubes! Dinner was held outdoors, with dancing and celebration under a sailcloth tent. Dinner was inspired by the feeling of family and closeness, with long sweeping tables under twinkling lights to create an intimate atmosphere. Guests were later invited to the sailcloth tent that featured two gorgeous lounge set ups, DJ, a classic black-and-white dance floor, crystal chandeliers, and a custom-designed bar.
For the dinner tables, we carefully balanced comfort and a welcoming feel with elegance. We started with tan linen tablecloths and warm wood-toned chairs. We filled the tables with candles and understated floral arrangements that included centerpieces with an abundance of texture and different types of foliage and single-ingredient accent arrangements. We knew we wanted to incorporate touches of black, so we went with bold black plates. We also opted for classic silver accents to balance the more modern centerpieces and black plates.
[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Circles and spheres could be found in the signage, the custom-built bar back etagere, the custom platform for the violinist, the pattern on cocktail table linens, the fruiting persimmon branches we used in the florals

All florals were whites and greens. We incorporated white flowers with yellows centers for a touch of color and contrast.

The bouquet: The bride’s bouquet was an hand-tied, garden-style bouquet that was perfect for her frame and included an abundance of texture. The focal ingredients were garden roses shipped in from California and locally sourced fruiting persimmon branches. Blooming autumn clematis vine gave the bouquet a gentle cascade.
The wedding party bouquets: The bridesmaid and “groomslady” bouquets were kept simple and petite and made in a style that would complement the bride’s. We opted to use only different type of foliage and smaller blooms to create an organic, textured look.
Boutonniere: The boutonnieres were each crafted with a different combination of ingredients, which also included many textural elements. The groom’s featured a white ranunculus, again adding to the circular theme of the wedding design.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]How did you personalize your wedding day to reflect who you are as a couple?

Troy, our dog, is a big part of our lives and means so much to us. We are passionate about animal rescue – Troy was adopted from SAFE Pet rescue in St. Augustine, and we created a fund for their nonprofit on our wedding registry. Outside of our wedding, we are also involved on the board of another nonprofit called Puppies and Golf, where we give grants to shelters/rescues in need and people who cannot afford surgery or treatment for their dogs…that being said – our dog Troy was a big part of the wedding. He hung out with us all day while we got ready, and he was part of our ceremony, walking down the aisle with family. We also had a custom illustration of Troy to use as a coaster. We had a custom logo of our initials throughout the signage and paper goods. We used drink stirrers shaped as golf clubs, a seating chart that played off a golfing scorecard, as well as a lot of circular elements to play off the shape of golf balls.

Childhood Sweethearts Wed in a Lavish Day Inspired by French Rococo Art

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Blush, Mauve, Honey, Lavender, French Blue[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The bride’s deep love of French style influenced every touch of this regal celebration. Together with her planning team Courtney Space Events and By Catherine Alexandra, Bride Elena envisioned a day inspired by the lavish feminine motifs of French Rococo art. Photographer Katie Trauffer worked closely with the bride to translate their shared love of French art and architecture into romantic, authentic, etherial portraits. From the Bride’s corseted Kim Kassas gown to the exuberant dancing florals by Wild Indigo, the day was filled with feminine grace, ornate details, and Parisian beauty.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

From the bride: “We were engaged in Malibu, California at the pier during golden hour after 6 years together. I was suspicious to why Geoff changed to dress shoes right before we headed to the beach. I immediately panicked (I had sand in my hair!) and did what Audrey Hepburn would do – just throw on a little lipstick. “

[section title=”The Fashion”]
[field title=”Wedding Gown”]The bride worked hand in hand with her stylist at Kinsley James to special order her stunning Kim Kassas gown. The bold, avant-garde details of Kim Kassas designs was an ideal fit for the feminine yet whimsical Rococo inspiration of the day. The sculpted corset top and exaggerated layered tulle skirt melded contemporary ballet inspirations with a timeless silhouette.

The bride customized her look by taking the striking swans of the original gown and moving them to her veil to soften the look and so they could drape gracefully over her through the day. She further added a crown and sheer, fingerless gloves to enhance the regal rococo feel.

The bride says, “I wanted to feel like a queen on my day. The dress was a symbol of a kindred part of my heart that is a francophile and adores France, the most romantic, soft, unspoken parts of me. The dress feels like a friend to me.- she is a symbol of my ability to express my creativity and speak my truth, even if my voice shakes. “[/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]We wanted to put together a soft, muted color palette that was interesting and a bit unexpected. The bride gravitated towards fluffy, feminine blooms in muted, muddled tones. We added a touch of french blue to bring in her love of Parisian style. Cafe latte garden roses and lavender clematis were the stars of her bouquet.

For the reception, we wanted the centerpieces to have lots of movement and be engaging for guests. We added plenty of layers and texture to the florals to give them dimension and interest.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The Bride imagined a multi-tiered French masterpiece in her beloved French blue. The cake featured custom made silhouettes of the Bride and Groom accented with delicate florals.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The couple decided to honor Elena’s roots with a traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony. They shared meaningful traditions such as holding candles and the marital crowns- or Stefana. Thought to symbolize the joining of two people into one single couple, the crowns are interwound three times before being tied together with a ribbon, the couple then walks three times around the alter.

Leaving the church the couple opted to do a lavender toss in a nod to the bride’s love of France.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

The venues for both the ceremony and reception held intimate personal ties for the Bride and her family. The ceremony was held in the same church where the bride and her two sisters were all baptized before moving away to Indiana. The reception was especially important to the Bride’s family as it was where her own parents took their wedding portraits 33 years earlier. The Bride grew up looking at her parent’s portraits under the property’s grand willow trees and dreamed of saying her own vows there. At last taking her own wedding portraits with her beloved under the same trees was a special, full circle moment for her.

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

The bride poured her heart into their wedding day details and, along with Photographer Katie Trauffer, personally sourced antiques and special touches to add to her detail flat lays. Some special touches included an antique Wedgwood tray; vow books for their special moment under the willow tree; a ribbon hand painted by one of the bride’s close friends, Olivia Dornsife Art with sentimental touches; and heirloom jewelry from her mom.

Elevated Garden-Inspired Wedding With A Classic Touch

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

All white flowers, lots of greenery, slate blue, sage, and gold.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The overall vision we wanted to create was an elevated garden for our guests. My planner Joy and I went through every single detail with two words: elegant and clean. Fluffy greenery, textured linens, exotic florals in glass vases, gold accents, and thousands of candles of different sizes. Our amazing florist, Stephanie and Jesse from Whisper and Brook Flower Co., executed perfectly!

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Andy planned this ‘fancy happy hour’ for me by the water here in New Jersey, which at the time didn’t seem out of the ordinary that he had asked me if I was free three weeks in advance! When we get there he tells me that there’s a boat that will be passing by the Hudson at a veryyyy specific time of 6:00 pm that he wants us to see. We leave our happy hour after a few celebratory Friday drinks (he was acting a little too excited about the happy hour, so I was starting to get suspicious), and he insists on walking over to a specific area of the boardwalk. We get there, and he goes, “there it is!” and I look over … nothing there. When I turned around, he was down on one knee, and I yelled, “I KNEW IT! AND YES!!!” It was so beautiful. What was super surprising was when we arrived back at our apartment, I opened the door, and my family, his family, and my best friends from near and far were there for a surprise engagement party!! I began to tear up as I saw all our loved ones, the apartment filled with flowers and white balloons, and my sweet fiance, who spent weeks planning the perfect surprise!

After 7 appointments all over New York and New Jersey, I finally went to Sareh Nouri in Short Hills. I went with the ‘Royal Highness’ gown which was a strapless ball gown, with a long train and a French lace cathedral veil! We added this extra large beautiful bow to the back of the dress to add a WOW factor! The dress also had this chic slit down the leg, so I knew the shoes would have to be special; I went with white Jimmy Choos!

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]They all had mismatched blue and white floral and solid slate blue dresses that ranged from Revolve, Jenny Woo, Michelle Mason and V. Chapman. I absolutely loved the way their dresses looked with the mono floral rose bouquets! [/field]

For dinner: Tuscan Kale salad, Halibut, Snake River Wagyu, or the Vegetarian Lasagna. To finish off the night, we had strolling desserts, a s’mores station, and chocolate popcorn made by the Ryland Inn.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]As soon as I landed on the vibe and color scheme, our planner, florist and I did a venue walkthrough where all our visions came to life. I decided on all white flowers, heavy greenery and hundreds of candles of different shapes and sizes. The fireplace in the Grand Ballroom was completely filled with different sized candles which gave a beautiful illusion of a lit fireplace. I went with a delicate Lily of the valley bouquet which really elevated my look. I remember walking into the reception space for the first time, there’s actually a picture of me crying/smiling and hugging Stephanie and Jesse, our amazing florist, from all the happiness. One of my favorite elements from the florals was the beautiful ground floral arrangement Andy and I stood in during the ceremony, which we then repurposed for our sweetheart table. I have to thank our planner Joy and our florist, Stephanie and Jesse, for giving me the best inspiration for the theme! [/field]

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Erik and I met each other in our early 20s. I was working at Michael Kors at the time and Erik came in to buy a watch from me; I was completely smitten, but didn’t think I’d see him again. Then, a few weeks later, a mutual friend introduced us at a party. That night we went dancing and afterwards, I made breakfast at midnight for our friends. I always say he fell in love with me because I make a killer breakfast. Pierogis with bacon and eggs was the secret recipe, and the rest was history. When Erik proposed, he gave me a ring with a ruby center stone, which is the birthstone for July. We are both July babies (where are all my loving cancers at?!), so I always knew I wanted a ruby stone for my wedding ring. It’s also vintage, which was important to me — I wanted something unique and I love the idea of thinking about what kind of stories the ring held before me. He picked it out all on his own at an estate store in downtown Anchorage. I love it. After venue shopping for a while, we chose Harvest Inn in St Helena in short because we love wine country! We wanted a place where we could gather our friends and family for great food, beautiful views, and a really, really good glass of wine. We’re both very close with our parents and making them feel recognized on our big day was something we put a lot of thought into. One special touch I loved was that our specialty cocktails were named after each of our dads and my stepdad. One of my favorite parts of the night was hearing my friends shout, “I’ll have another George!” a dirty vodka martini named after my step-dad.

6 Bachelorette Planning Mistakes to Avoid

Hey, ladies! If you’re planning, attending or hosting a bachelorette party in the near future for your engaged bestie – then listen up, ‘cause this one’s for you! Who to invite, who not to invite, how to deal with paying for it all and everything in between, we’re dishing all the advice on everything to avoid when planning the ultimate bachelorette party!

Marni Rothschild Pictures

1. Timing

If you ask us, we suggest hosting your bach when there’s still plenty of time before the wedding! 1-3 months before is the sweet spot for grabbing your girls and celebrating your upcoming “I do’s.” Truth be told, it’s the perfect amount of time before the wedding – the majority of the planning is done, those excited feelings are really starting to rush in, and it gives plenty of time to recover in case the festivities get a little too much fun ;) Just be sure to allow plenty of time to plan the party, because we all know how jam-packed a bride-to-be’s schedule can get before the big day!

2. The Guest List

This one seems like a no-brainer, but it’s worth mentioning, because we’ve all seen some feelings get hurt in the wedding invite department. The bachelorette party guest list should be a small group of the bride’s closest friends who are also invited to the wedding. Anyone who is in the bridal party should automatically get an invitation, but the bachelorette is also the perfect time to include some of the bride’s close friends who aren’t in the bridal party to make them feel special too, besides… the more the merrier, right? Just make sure to run the final guest list by the bride!

Mariel Hannah

3. Unrealistic Expectations

We blame this one on the movies. There is an unrealistic expectation that the bachelorette party needs to be the most amazing, insane, epic experience and if it is anything short of mind-altering incredible it was somehow a failure of a tribute to the bride.

This could not be further from the truth for bachelorette parties in the real world.

It’s important to remember what is most important when it comes to planning a bachelorette party: being together with your closest friends, relaxing and celebrating the last little bits of your single status! That’s it. Everything else – the parties, the Instagram-able moments, the signature cocktails, the matching t-shirts, the swag bags – it’s all just gravy, so do it your way!

It’s also a good idea to keep in mind the cost of the event, whether it be vacation days or a hefty price tag – make sure the activities are within everyone’s budget and realistic for their schedules.

4. Poor Planning

Whatever you decide to do, we can’t say enough how important it is to plan, plan, plan! Decide in advance on where you’re going to go, how you’re going to get there, a list of activities and, of course, how you will get home. If everyone knows all the details, there will be no room for surprises or unhappy guests!

Don’t be a bachelorette party dictator, but there needs to be a leader who sets a schedule before everyone arrives. In advance, you can all talk about what you want to do, have those exciting conversations and do the research, so when you are in the moment, you aren’t trying to decide where to eat as everyone is getting hangrier and hangrier.

Don’t forget to schedule some downtime! Your girls are going to love the fun activities you have planned, but make sure there’s plenty of time to recover, relax and just enjoy being in the moment with your best girls.

Valorie Darling

5. Planning YOUR Dream Bach, Not the Bride’s

If you’re planning a bachelorette party for your friend, the bride, make sure it’s a party she would want. The last thing you want is for her to be uncomfortable or awkward, or even worse, disappointed. Don’t plan the party YOU want, plan the party she wants. If she is more chill, then a PJ-inspired girls weekend with chick flicks and pedicures it is. If she is a wild child, then bottoms up and off to somewhere fun!

The bachelorette party theme or location will really depend on what makes the bride happy and what her ideal party with her friends looks like. Her idea of a party might be different than your idea of a party, and that’s totally okay!

6. Talking About Money Too Late

When it comes to the bachelorette party, the money conversations need to happen right away. Trust us, don’t wait until you’ve already maxed out the credit card for a weekend away treating your friends like royalty when she would have been just as happy with a girls night closer to home.

We totally get it, nothing is as uncomfortable to talk about than money. But if you spend money that you don’t have on your friend’s bachelorette party – that is a recipe for disaster! It is so important that you are honest with your friends about how much you can afford and what will be possible on your budget. They’re your friends – they will totally understand!

Before the bachelorette party weekend, make sure everyone has a money sharing or payment app that allows you to keep track of expenses. When using an app like Pro Party Planner or Travefy, everyone can easily see who owes who how much. It does all the math for you and it sends your friends reminders to settle up. An app like this makes things SO much easier all you, the bride and the guests of honor!

Happy bachelorette planning!

Bright And Pastel Shades Fill This Bridgerton-Inspired California Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

We wanted the color to reflect the vibrant and regal colors of the Bridgerton era. We have chosen a color palette that includes a mix of bright and pastel shades reminiscent of the Regency period’s opulent and romantic style. – Purple and Soft Lavender, Dusty Blue, Warm Coral, Peach, Blush Pink, and Gold. We incorporate these colors into various elements of the wedding, including the decor, attire, flowers, and stationery

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The The Blushing Details, led by the Carol Keiner, known for her exceptional creativity and meticulous attention to detail, created and planned a modern twist on a Bridgerton-inspired wedding for the couple Angeline and Hamed. With her expertise, she embarked on a journey to infuse timeless romance with contemporary charm, bringing the couple’s dream to life. Carol had a brilliant idea, helping Angeline and Hamed brand their wedding with the assistance of La Design Boutique. Together, they crafted a unique silhouette of the couple, lovingly taken from one of their cherished engagement pictures. This silhouette became the soul of their wedding decor, gracing their cake, invitations, and all their stationery.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Angeline and Hamed are college sweethearts. They like to say the Dalai Lama brought them together after they both attended an event in Inglewood where the Dalai Lama was speaking in 2014. Angeline was covering the event for their college newspaper, and Hamed attended for their college radio station. After they both graduated from Cal State LA in 2016, they spent two years apart doing long distance as Angeline attended grad school in Berkeley. When she graduated in 2018, she and Hamed went on a Europe trip, where Hamed popped the question overlooking the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. During their first year engaged, they spent another year apart as Angeline accepted a job offer in New York City. She came back nine months later, and they immediately tied the knot at the Beverly Hills Courthouse in an intimate ceremony with just their immediate family. Angeline and Hamed are a creative couple, so they wanted to share their interests and their story with their wedding guests in unique ways. For instance, on every table, they had a QR code linking out to a podcast they produced before the wedding that walked through significant songs in their relationship.

As the bride, she aspired to embody the essence of a “diamond,” a young lady of the court chosen by the queen herself for her exceptional grace and charm from the series Bridgerton.

Angeline and Hamed’s quest to craft a unique and delicious drink for their Bridgerton-inspired wedding led them to EJ Cayaban, the talented mixologist behind Barkada LA. With an understanding of the couple’s love for the Bridgerton era, EJ set out to create a drink receipt that would be a tribute to the couple’s love story.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Jina Choi of De Flora Event Flowers created the most amazing flower designs for the wedding, from the floral arch, the florals on the gate, and the floating flowers above the long tables in the reception space. Jina used a combination of greenery, roses, and florals that were in season to achieve a beautiful, garden-lush look throughout the wedding space.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Branding their wedding was a dream come true, thanks to the talented Anna from La Design Boutique. With her artistic touch, Angelina and Hamed brought their love story to life by creating a unique silhouette of one of our cherished engagement pictures. This silhouette became the heart of our wedding decor and gracing their cake with real flower.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

As a couple who works in the entertainment industry (Angeline works as an entertainment reporter for Good Morning America, and Hamed owns his own sound design studio in Hollywood called Melody Gun), they wanted guests to feel like they were in the world of Bridgerton, which is Angeline’s favorite Netflix show. They worked together to make that happen by creating a personalized Lady Whistledown program for guests, Bridgerton-themed drinks and made sure that the string quartet continued to play during the reception.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The couple opted for a condensed Catholic ceremony, which was officiated by Father Brian Delvaux of the Good Shepherd Church before the couple exchanged their own written vows. To honor the bride’s Filipino heritage, their sponsors draped a veil and cord over the couple and lit a unity candle to signify their union. In honor of the groom’s Iranian heritage, the couple took part in an Aghd ceremony where the officiant, Ali Ghadaksaz, led a sugar and honey ceremony.

As far as traditions go, the bride and groom paid tribute to the bride’s filipino heritage with the guests’ party favors. Each guest received a fan that was made in the Philippines and had the couple’s hashtag on it.

To honor the groom’s persian heritage, they had a Sofreh (see descriton in #1), which had a Quran, Persian desserts, coins and more.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The ceremony was which was decorated with a floral gate, a grand Sofreh Aghd and a floral arch. At their seats was a Lady Whistledown-inspired program and a wooden fan from the Philippines that was embossed with the couple’s hashtag. [/field]

The Bride, Maddie, works in the Wedding Industry herself and had seen over 200+ so when the planning began she knew exactly what she wanted and most importantly what she didn’t want. Color was SUPER important while also being fun and special to us as it truly is a representation as our lives together and our relationship, which was exactly what the entire day was! The little details were also super important to the couple as the bridal has a degree in Interior Design and also works on graphics. She herself custom designed every detail from the table numbers to the invitation suite, the bar menus and the custom Wedding Crest that featured their pup Sully who also made a special appearance on the Wedding Day!

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Maddie and Will were not High School Sweethearts but instead were middle school sweethearts who started dating in 8th Grade and have been inseparable ever since. Last year in Charleston, SC the two planned a weekend trip after Will got back from a very long and intense internship in Pennsylvania and the two had spent months apart from each other. Maddie had been sending Will pictures of rings and places to go in Charleston, which included a pink house which had been all over TikTok! Little did Maddie know that on the second day in Charleston Will would take Maddie to that same house she was obsessed with on Tik Tok and get down on one knee and propose to her with not a ring that he bought but instead his late Mother’s ring that Will had polished and cleaned just for this moment but never had told Maddie. Let’s just say that Maddie was sobbing so much that a pedestrian walked by and asked if she was okay, we told her and she took a selfie with us to show her friends. The photo was so bad that Maddie refuses to show anyone because she had been crying for so long!

Going into Wedding Dress shopping I knew exactly what I wanted and had it saved on my Tik Tok for months before getting engaged as I had just seen Bridal capes make an appearance and I was OBSESSED! The next week I had a trip planned to Austin, TX to see my MOH and best friend and she had planned a visit to a bridal shop while I was there so she could be apart of the dress shopping experience. Little did we know that that exact dress I had saved on Tik Tok and the cape was at that store. I had the whole bridal moment, cried and all, but there was on small issue. My mom or grandmas were there to see the dress and feel the emotions and honestly felt like they weren’t able to be apart of the experience. After many weeks crying and trying to get the dress out of my mind we went back shopping with my mom and grandmas in North Carolina and found a dress that I knew I could somehow transform into the dress I fell in love with. I purchased the dress with a complete vision in my head, took it to the sweetest seamstresses in Raleigh and you could see the fear in their eyes but I had trust and faith in them. After many months of honestly stressing those poor ladies out my dream dress came to life and we even were able to take pearls off of my mothers wedding dress and all them onto the sleeves of my cape and scattered them throughout the cape itself. It truly is a one of a find custom dress just for me and I will never ever forget it! Was truly one of my favorite pieces of the day!

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

I knew I wanted to be different and allow my bridesmaids to select dresses that were not only a representation of them but that they also felt beautiful in, however, I did make sure to give them some parameters just to narrow down their search. These included no strapless necklines because that was my dress neckline, and they all needed to be pink, as the groom is a die-hard NC State Fan, his one request was that there be no light blue, but that didn’t really happen as the linens and florals featured what he calls “Carolina Blue”. All of the dresses were from Revolve but from different brands/designers.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

I wanted the Groom to stand out just slightly from everyone else so we chose a “blue” that was slightly lighter than the groomsmen attire so that he would stand out just enough to have his own moment and honestly everyone loved it, even the groom. I also wanted the “blue” to have some texture and also be more of a chambray color to really give off the summer wedding feel and match the color palette!

As a big foodie couple we wanted to feature a variety of food stations that were interactive for our guests and we truly had so many compliments!! It featured 3 interactive food stations that showcased a variety of tacos and nachos with endless toppings, mini chicken and beef slides with dips and toppings and last but not least, out favorite, the mashed potato and tater tot bar, which was a HIT! After dinner we then allowed guests to join us for our favorite Raleigh sweet treat, Two Roosters Ice Cream and small desserts from our caterer.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Throughout the entire wedding planning process the bride had a ranking of importance of vendors and items, and florals was always the number one priority, which the brides father though was just insane, but he just went along with it. The first thing the brides dad mentioned to her after the ceremony was “okay you were right, the flowers do look fabulous and they make it!”. AT that moment I knew it was worth it because the man who never ever is worried or thinks about the way things look actually complimented and noticed the flowers. Ever since that day every single person or guest who sees a photo will tell you that they are obsessed with the florals and that they have never seen so many flowers in their life and that it just made the event and I couldn’t agree more!

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Instead of cake, which the couple doesn’t really like, they chose to have their favorite ice cream in Raleigh and ever, at their wedding. The couple is just slightly obsessed with their icecream and you can even find their engagement photos at the Two Roosters Ice Cream storefront on their website, instagram, page and even their newsletters as they were the first to take engagement pictures at Two Roosters. Let’s just saw the workers always know their orders when they walk in! They chose to have their vintage icecream bus and even had custom spoons made for their guests that had their initials on them!!

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

The song my parents walked down the aisle to was their wedding song which they did not know about and was a little sweet surprise for them! The bride and her dad also have a unique and goofy relationship in which they did a choreographed upbeat dance instead of a traditional slow father daughter dance like most and then at the end allowed the crowd to join in the fun and opened up the dancefloor for the night!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

We incorporated yellow roses throughout the entire floral decor and design as a nod to the groom’s late mother as it was her favorite flower!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The bride surprised the groom with a live painting from Jill Danville but little did he know that there were a few surprises hidden in the image as a symbol/to recognize his late mother. Lets just say tears were shed but not only him but the entire family!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

The Bride and her grandpa handmade all of the lattice pieces together that were used for ceremony backdrop and the seating chart. They spent a weekend together bonding and creating them together and it was so special to see all of the hard work actually on the day of the wedding![/field]

The stunning wedding gown by Daalarna Couture was just a showstopper. We liked to have a romantic, luxurious but fashionable look for the beautiful Italian model. Daalarna designed this dream of elegant sparkling gown for the Florence collection. The absolutely high light are the shoulder veils (removable). The bridal jumpsuit: Since most of our brides changing for the dinner or party their look, we decided for this sexy but elegant jumpsuit, which makes the luxurious look just perfect for the dinner & after dinner party.

A Whimsical Palette and Snowcapped Mountains at Devil’s Thumb Ranch

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]The inspiration behind this shoot was my admiration for the soft etherial look that gardens emit. I wanted to mix that component in with the rustic look of a Colorado ranch wedding venue and make it something unique and beautiful. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Dusty blue, lavender, blush, and cream[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]Devil’s Thumb Ranch was the absolute perfect backdrop for this design! This was intentionally set in early June, when the grass is newly green, almost lime green, from being so new and fresh in Spring. The combination with the snowcapped mountains in the background gave it an almost surreal moment straight out of your dreams![/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Every design detail was very intentional. I always love creating different looks for the tables and having them fit together cohesively into one polished look. This was no different. For the indoor table, we used a blue floral tablecloth with lavender napkins. The table settings are a little more traditional and clean so it doesn’t feel overwhelming agains the patterned linen. For the outdoor table, I wanted the table to balance out the beautiful blue sky and used a velvet light blue linen. It’s literally the same color as the sky was that day and worked beautifully balancing out the colors! Since the linen was plain, I had a little more fun with the place setting using a patterned charger and plates. Had both tables been next to each other, they would balance each other out wonderfully because the one thing that brought everything together was the soft and etherial flowers! Different hues of pink, lavender and cream against the greenery of the flowers brought the greens from the grass out and in turn is pleasing to the eye. I can never stop starring at this complete look as it was perfect for the venue and the mountain backdrops. [/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]My favorite design elements were definitely the outdoor tablescape. It just looks so good against the Colorado mountain range. Its as if it belongs there! The lounge was also a fascinating touch to the scenery and the cake trio should definitely make an appearance at weddings more often. The flowers of course help it all pull together nicely in one perfectly cohesive look![/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]Don’t be afraid of patterns and color! Play around with it! It’ll surprise you when you actually see it all together! I always like to look at things in person to make sure it’s cohesive so don’t be afraid to do mockups with your rental company or ask your wedding planner for a mockup appointment! [/field]

A Classic Spring Wedding in Taormina Overlooking the Sea

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Shades of pink and peach.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The town of Taormina, nestled in the heart of Sicily, with its narrow winding streets, vibrant flowers cascading from balconies, and panoramic views that leave you breathless. Taormina is a place where time stands still and love takes center stage. In this picturesque town, Cynthia and Simon celebrated their special day in a truly romantic and timeless way. They chose the stunning Villa Mon Repos, a picturesque villa perched on a hillside overlooking the sparkling sea below. This venue was both their getting-ready location and their reception venue. This elegant villa perfectly captured the exclusive and sophisticated atmosphere they desired. An additional classic and timeless touch came from the ceremony. The religious ceremony took place in the quaint Church of St. Joseph, located in one of Taormina’s most characteristic squares, Piazza IX Aprile. This was followed by a couple’s photo session among the town’s beautiful narrow streets and vantage points. All this under a beautiful Sicilian spring sunset. However, as spring weather can be quite unpredictable, the wedding planner Luana Aloi had a backup plan in case rain decided to join the celebration. And indeed, strong winds swept through town just before dinner was about to begin. The indoor option was quickly put into action to ensure everyone stayed comfortable and dry. Film photography from Sergio Sorrentino, with its timeless quality and subtle hues, perfectly encapsulates the colors and mood of Sicily.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Bride’s Point of View:
My friend gave me the gift of organizing a girls’ weekend for my birthday. I thought it was very nice since she was already married and had a son. So I was excited to go to Venice together.
For the first night, my friend had booked a wonderful rooftop restaurant. We went up to the terrace to order food and drinks. Suddenly someone tapped me on the shoulder and I looked up to see my boyfriend. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Completely surprised, but overjoyed, I said yes. I learned that my boyfriend had arranged the whole weekend in consultation with our friends. While I went to Venice by train with my friend, my boyfriend and his friend went by car. All four of us had a wonderful weekend in Venice.[/field]

Colorful and Fashionable Colorado Summer Wedding in the Mountains

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]yellows, peaches, fuchsias, oranges, lilacs and hints of blue[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We envisioned a tented reception being surrounded by the beautiful scenery Colorado has to offer. I wanted everything to feel elegant, yet organic and rustic. We hosted four events throughout the weekend, and I wanted to make sure everyone got to bond and get to know each other! We wanted to do a destination wedding so everyone could experience the beauty of Colorado and have that vacation mindset! [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Harrison and I originally met at a bar in the Hamptons in 2017, but did not start dating until we were set up by his friend’s wife in October of 2018! We funnily enough have selfies from the first night we met on a friend’s phone that surfaced about six months into dating. Fun fact, I remembered Harrison from the night in the Hamptons but he did not remember me! Fast forward 3 years into dating…Harrison told me he wanted to get tacos for lunch at this spot near our apartment along the water. I was adamant about having leftover turkey burgers because I hate food waste, but he was persistent. When we arrived the restaurant, Harrison looked around and then got down on one knee!!! I was shocked to say the least and got down on one knee too! Our friends were in a bush hiding taking pictures of us from afar and it was all so perfect. I am the ugliest crier and these pictures always make me laugh so much because they illicit so much emotion. The restaurant was a ploy because it was a great photo opportunity right along the water. We walked back to our apartment and our family and friends were waiting inside to celebrate. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]When it came to my dress, I knew I wanted something different. striking, and with floral details, but most of all comfortable. I tried on the Reem Acra Chrysler dress early on in the search at a department store, but it had a white lining and I wanted something more sheer so I kept looking. I was between a few others, but I went straight to Reem Acra and we customized the Chrysler dress with a nude lining to really allow for the flowers and crystals to pop. This was the dress of my dreams and the hand sewn flower appliques and crystals really fit in with the aesthetic of the wedding. The flowers were not perfectly placed which I loved, making it feel organic. I also had a custom veil made with matching flowers and crystals which added to the drama of the dress. The dress is also from their Love From New York wedding collection which was fun because I got to bring a little bit of New York to Colorado! As for shoes, I wanted to be comfortable yet again so I opted for a block heel by René Caovilla. I kept jewelry to a minimum and wore my engagement ring, a diamond tennis bracelet and my day-to-day diamond pave hoops.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]My bridesmaids each got to choose a dress of a specific color and the brands ranged from Vera Wang, Zhivago, Cinq a Sept and a custom dress by Andrea’s Fashions in Beverly Hills.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Harrison wore a custom tuxedo by Alan David Custom with custom Del Toro slippers with our wedding date etched on the sole along with Jan Leslie shark cufflinks (both gifted by my parents and an ode to Montauk where we met) and a limited edition Cartier Santos watch I had gifted him prior to the wedding.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Guests were greeted with champagne at the ceremony which set the celebratory mood! My signature drink was a Spicy Margarita with a Tajin rim and Harrison’s was a Gin Basil Smash. Cocktail hour food consisted of pigs in a blanket, lamb chops, shrimp cocktail, vegetable spring rolls, crudité, and a glorious charcuterie station. For dinner, guests were served a pear salad, miso glazed cod or short rib followed by cake and an ice cream sundae bar! At the after party, we had a lot of late night snacks consisting of chicken fingers, fries, sliders and lots of candy! [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]When it came to décor, I wanted to stray away from the typical white floral wedding and go bright! The Colorado mountains, sunsets and wildflowers are all so captivating and I wanted to embrace that in everything from the flowers to all of the fine details. I wanted everything to feel elegant, yet organic and rustic. We chose a palette of yellows, peaches, fuchsias, oranges, lilacs and hints of blue and decided to run with it and go wild. We worked with Lauren Benson from Four 13 Designs who brought our vision to life with our invitations that featured a watercolor sunset and mountain liner, pressed floral details and a custom leather belly band imprinted with our logo. Lauren went above and beyond with all the wedding details and signage which included a lot of pressed flowers and custom etched bud vases with guest’s names and table number in place of a traditional seating chart. These were wonderful because our guests took them home as a keepsake! The Perfect Petal understood the assignment of a wildflower organic garden party with all the florals from the Chuppah to the centerpieces. My favorite aspect was the flower installation over the black and white dance floor. This was originally supposed to go over the head table, but we decided to move it over the dance floor and I am so happy with that decision! It was so fun to dance under all the flowers and it made for great photos.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]I am gluten and dairy free so I let Harrison take the reins on this one! We had half cannoli and half s’mores and it was a hit. It was decorated with fresh flowers to fit the wild flower vibe.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The ceremony was held outside, and we were surrounded by nature, a bright blue sky and everyone we love. The aspen trees were shimmering in the breeze and we were taking it all in. The ceremony was extremely sentimental because we both honored our grandparents with the tallis and Kiddush cups that belonged to them. It was as if they were present. Harrison and the bridal party walked down the aisle to a string version of “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel and I walked down the aisle to a string version of “Learn to Fly” by Foo Fighters. Our dog Georgia was a special part of the weekend and my sister, Matron of Honor walked her down the aisle which was adorable. She was wearing a flower collar that Perfect Petal made for her and stole the show. One thing I was happy about was deciding to read our vows at the ceremony. We were originally going to read them at the Ketubah signing prior with just immediate family and bridal party and shifted last minute. It was beyond special to share this intimate moment with our guests and everyone got a glimpse of our love for each other. After we were pronounced husband and wife, we walked back down the aisle to a string version of “Toxicity” by System of a Down. It was silly because those that know the band were laughing and others just thought it was a beautiful song. We are both very into music and it played such a crucial role throughout the night.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Call us crazy, but we booked this as our venue without ever having seen it in person! We envisioned a tented reception being surrounded by the beautiful scenery Colorado has to offer. We had only been to Vail proper and all of those venues did not allow for a tent. We didn’t want to drag people to Colorado to have a ballroom reception, so we stumbled upon the Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch which allowed for a tent on the grand lawn. We visited a year before in the summer and it exceeded all expectations. We knew we had made the perfect venue choice.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]8 months before the ceremony, we had a Ketubah signing in LA with close family and friends so my grandmothers could sign our Ketubah. My grandma Marilynn on my mother’s side had just been diagnosed with ALS and my grandma Ruth on my father’s side was 97. I am so lucky that they signed our Ketubah because my grandma Marilynn passed away in May and my grandma Ruth passed away 4 days after our wedding at 98 years old. The ceremony was extra special and sentimental and in April, we did our first dance for my grandma right before she passed. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]When the band started playing Blink-182, Harrison and I jumped on stage and started singing with the band for 3 songs! This resulted in me crowd surfing, which I highly recommend! None of it was planned, just pure adrenaline making it seem like a concert.[/field]

A French Garden Inspired This Couple’s Whimsical Summer Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Inspired by the picturesque backdrop of a coastal Hamptons retreat, Kali and Sam wanted their wedding to radiate with the serene beauty of monochromatic lime and apple greens, ice French blues, and soothing neutral tones. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

This multi-day event was a testament to their love inspired by their current life in Texas, their love of summers in the Hamptons, and a deep connection to their Jewish heritage. Every detail was meticulously curated, from the custom bridal gown delicately embroidered to the lavish apple green florals that adorned the venue. The showstopper was the Hidden Garden Oxford head table linen that added an extra layer of opulence to the affair. It was a celebration that seamlessly blended timeless elegance with coastal charm.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]In the heart of Austin, Kali Lang and Sam Raphael’s love story began one balmy September night in 2018. Kali, dining at La Griglia with her parents, crossed paths with their friend Suzy Landa, who saw destiny’s hand at play. Suzy, knowing Sam lived in DC, believed he was Kali’s perfect match.

A swift call from Suzy to Sam’s mother, Lynne Raphael, set the stage for a serendipitous encounter. Unbeknownst to them, destiny had already been in motion. Days earlier, Kali playfully asked her college friend Graham Shuping about tall, single men in DC. To her surprise, Sam, Graham’s best friend, was the answer.

Their hearts were already entwined when Lynne called Sam. Their first date was a revelation, sparking an undeniable connection. Love blossomed, laughter filled their days, and they embraced a journey guided by fate.

Sam proposed to Kali by the serene waters of Town Lake, where they then celebrated their engagement with family and friends.

Kali’s journey to find the perfect wedding gown was a tale of serendipity and a sprinkle of magic. It began as a lighthearted excursion, with two bridesmaids, Alex and Leslye, and her sister, by her side, visiting the iconic Kleinfeld’s in New York shortly after their engagement. Later, Kali embarked on a more earnest dress-shopping adventure with her mother and sister in Houston, exploring five boutiques over two unforgettable days. Finally, the gown of her dreams unveiled itself at Brickhouse Bridal in Houston. Yet, Kali’s quest for perfection did not end there. Two weeks later, she returned with her bridesmaid and cousin to reconfirm that the chosen dress was the one, adding a touch of custom lace to the back—a detail that would make her heart sing on her special day.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

Ensuring that her bridesmaids looked nothing short of spectacular, Kali set four essential parameters for their dresses: a captivating ice blue color, elegant floor-length design, a preference for no strapless styles, and a resolute decision to steer clear of floral patterns or prints. With her vision clear, Kali skillfully matched the dresses with the venue and florals, resulting in a cohesive and visually stunning bridal party. The bridesmaid dresses from Mac Duggal, Show Me Your Mumu, Azazie, and Bex and Co. brought Kali’s dream to life.

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]In line with the wedding’s classic black-tie dress code, Sam and his groomsmen donned timeless black tuxedos. Aided by their astute photographer, they ensured each tuxedo was expertly fitted, ensuring a sharp and sophisticated look that would stand the test of time.[/field]

Family was at the heart of Kali and Sam’s celebration, and they wanted their guests to feel the warmth of that connection. Choosing a Family-Style dinner service, the couple encouraged their loved ones to bond and share stories, just as they had shared many memorable dinners together. Royal Fig Catering, their chosen caterer, sourced the entire menu with organic ingredients locally from the Texas Hill Country, and paired those ingredients with an open bar. The aroma of tender ribeye steaks topped with chimichurri as an entree filled each guest’s nose with the essence of a beloved southern home.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The wedding was a floral paradise, with lavish arrangements that graced every corner. The couple didn’t want a standard green and white wedding because it didn’t fit their monochromatic French country garden aesthetic. Instead, they chose bells of ireland florals to make the greens much more vibrant and whimsical.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was a masterpiece inspired by family tradition. It had lemon cake tiers, adorned with fresh strawberry preserves in place of strawberry cream, paying homage to Texas’s rich culinary heritage. It also had a layer of sumptuous chocolate cake with chocolate ganache inspired by the bride’s grandmother’s secret recipe, adding an extra layer of sweetness to the celebration.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Love and wisdom flowed throughout the ceremony, with the parents and grandparents of the couple imparting their timeless insights during the Ketubah Ceremony. Vows were exchanged amidst golden hour photos and the jubilant horah dance. A 50+ person conga line to the electrifying tunes of Lizzo brought the dance floor to life.

Their DC friend Kaileen serenaded the couple with “You’ve Got the Love,” creating an unforgettable moment of tenderness. The groom’s best man, ever the prankster, surprised everyone by donning a banana suit when delivering the Bananarchy—a hilarious nod to their shared history.

As the night drew to a close, Kali and Sam shared their last dance as a newlywed couple, swaying to the beautiful melodies of “Diamonds and Gasoline” by Turnpike Troubadours. It was a wedding day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories—a day that embodied the essence of a coastal dream come true.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Kali decided to give her something blue to her bridesmaids. Gifting each of her bridesmaids a blue eggshell leather jewelry box with their monogrammed initials in a stoney clover style. Each gift was waiting with a handwritten note from Kali for the ladies upon their arrival to the wedding venue.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Because Kali and Sam grew up in DC, they wanted to give their families a genuine Texas experience. They leaned all the way into southern culture for their rehearsal dinner, with the location, dress code, decor, and of course Texas barbecue for the meal.

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]The bride’s great uncle Richard (aka Dua Lipa Grandpa) received the surprise of a lifetime going on Jimmy Fallon and meeting Dua Lipa (video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHH69xT4vKw&t=11s)
To pay tribute to his love for Dua Lipa, they had a special moment for the band to play his favorite song at the wedding with a spotlight on him!

California Wedding Weekend at Rosewood Sand Hill

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Christina and her mother chose two different color palettes for our wedding. The cocktail hour was white and blue and the dinner reception was navy base with pops of light pinks, peaches, whites, and greens—brought in by bountiful and lush florals.
[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Event Info: Christina & Trever’s wedding weekend experience began on the breathtaking grounds of Oakland California Temple with close family and friends. The celebration continued downtown San Fransisco at the iconic GOTTs for a sunny welcome party. A very meaningful location for the couple who started to get acquainted with each other along the stunning docks with views of the bay. The following day guests were invited to the luxurious Rosewood Sand Hill for cocktail hour on the lawn. The rest of the day was filled with heartfelt toasts and they danced the night away.

Design/Vibe/Vision: The Brides mother, Janna, is an interior designer by trade and an avid gardener. They chose a chic garden party theme that was reflective of the Bride’s childhood memories in her parents English home garden. This went perfectly with the Rosewood Hotel grounds and the early summer wedding date in June.
[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Christina and Trever were introduced by friends in San Francisco! Their first date was on the Embarcadero for dinner and an evening stroll. Their relationship grew naturally and easy. To ring in 2023, Trever took Christina on the same walk as their first date down a pier and proposed overlooking the San Francisco Bay!

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Christina said when it came to her dress it was love at first sight! It was the first wedding dress she tried on and she instantly knew it was the one. She comes from a family of all girls—so for fun she tried on her two older sister’s wedding dresses. Interestingly, while they all have the same day-to-day style they all chose very different wedding dresses. It confirmed that the dress she chose was perfect for her!
[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Christina’s sisters were her bridesmaids and she wanted them to choose something that they felt beautiful in. The dress theme developed naturally when one of her sister’s found the perfect floral dress in Palm Beach. They then decided to blend patterns and buy dresses from the same designer but not have any of their dresses match.
[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Trever dressed in a classic black tux. Traditionally in black tie weddings, grooms can wear white jackets. But Christina liked the juxstaposition of her in offwhite, and him in black.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Christina and Trever love seafood and the fresh farm-to-table food California is known for. They worked closely with the Rosewood Hotel’s head chef to create a special menu complete with fresh oysters, caviar and arranchini’s. They chose a passion fruit mocktail for Christina’s specialty drink because it reminded her and her family of Hawaii, their favorite vacation place. Trever chose a blood orange mocktail as a nod to his favorite sports team—the Portland Blazers.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Christina and her mother loved the idea of incorporating hydrangeas throughout the wedding since her garden is full of large hydrangea bushes. They decided to go big with them at cocktail hour! Emily of Flower Girl Em created two large statement arrangements on either side of the bar to anchor it and then again on the escort display table. For dinner, they chose colorful lush floral arrangements on each of the guest tables with sweet peas, pansies and garden roses. They wanted the florals to pop so they decided to go with a beautiful navy linen from BBJ La Tavola and then added white and blue paper goods designed by the bride’s sister to tie everything together.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Christina and Trever love dessert—but not cake. To do something unexpected, they chose to serve guests three mini dessert tastings—mini lemon tart, chocolate pot de creme and a mini berry crumble.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]As a thank you for helping me through life and the wedding process, Christina gifted her sisters/bridesmaids a pinky signet ring with their initials on it. They later gifted Trever and her a book about their love story.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Diana and Tory imagined a wedding that infused both classic and timeless with the love of nature and wildflowers. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Diana and Tory met at work in San Francisco, and both of them later transferred to the company’s headquarters in Maryland where they settled and their love bloomed. While on a vacation in Maine, they were casually relaxing at a dreamy park, enjoying a view of historic lighthouses and an outdoor wedding under a nearby gazebo. Tory asked Diana, “Is there any other place you would rather be at this minute? Diana answered, “No, I would rather be here than another place right now.” At that, Tory pulled out a beautiful ring he had purchased without Diana’s knowledge and proposed. She said yes.[/field]
