A Wedding Photographer Becomes The Bride for This Pastel Garden Party Southern Wedding

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

We utilized a color palette based off the tones I see most in when editing wedding galleries as a Photographer. The pinks and peaches from the skin tones and the greens and blues from the sky and grass.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]I wanted an upscale garden party vibe. As if you went to a bbq in the Hamptons where you knew you’d look fabulous but it wasn’t stuffy. We had less than 100 people there because we wanted the people that mattered most to us to feel really special when they attended and know just how much they meant to us.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]James is in the military and was about to have to move stations from FL to VA, making weekend visits no longer possible, so my parents suggested we had a “going away” lunch at a new restaurant near our lake house. We planned to bring the dogs to the lake post lunch, which gave James the perfect excuse to stop at the lake house on the way to lunch to “drop off” our dog, Maple. I waited in the car for a minute, until he came and said let’s go for a walk. I was so confused and thrown off I didn’t get out but rather told him ” I thought you were nervous about being late to lunch with my parents” He walked me toward to back yard and I could see the flower arrangement at the end of the dock. I immediately started crying. As he walked me down, I saw my 2 best friends videoing, he had asked them to drive in from NC and TN to AL to celebrate us. The dock was covered in petals, candles, and flowers. Our song (that would soon also become our first dance song) was playing as he got on one knee and proposed. Champage, charcuterie, and a change of clothes for a photoshoot were on the patio. We had a moment to ourselves and go to buzz and talk about all the plans he had laid out. After our photos, he drove me back to my house, where all of our friends and family were waiting. We celebrated the night away![/field]

Contemporary Design Complete With Bright Pops of Color at L’Auberge Del Mar

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Neutrals of bone, brass and terra cotta with fun, bold, bright pops of color in coral, tangerine, poppy, golden hour yellow, blush and watermelon with touches of citron green and light wood accents [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”](The perks of being a wallflower) Reminiscent of meeting at the Fire flower festival & of Jeanne patiently waiting 3 days for Davis to ask her dance we blended Classic Modern Romance with playful touches throughout. Infusing florals and happy pops of color we brightened up the spaces and offered surprising elements of eye candy to tickle curiosity & imagination while cultivating community and comfort and honor those you love most! Guests were welcomed with the cool ocean breeze, soaking in the sunshine and sipping on cocktails after watching our darling couple say their i do’s. Everyone gathered at thoughtfully curated tables with colorful china & unexpected details all while hearing the music swell and dancing the night away under festive market lights![/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]From the Bride: We picked out the ring together so I knew it was in the apartment and whereas I thought this would be something I was very cool and casual about, I was not. I didn’t feel any sort of rush to get married, I knew Davis and I were in it for the long haul no matter what, but the idea that I could be surprised at ANY moment was truly too much. So, I was constantly on my toes and when Davis and I made a plan to go to one of our favorite spots (a little area off a path in Muir Beach that we had discovered during quarantine), I though “maybe this could be happening,” so I got my hopes up, but the more I thought about it, the more signs pointed to this not happening. All of the friends I thought he’d want to be there were very credibly busy that day, he had absolutely NO sense of urgency that day and seemed so calm and somehow he got ME to suggest we go to that spot so I was convinced it was my idea. So by the time we were on our way I was kinda bummed with myself for getting my hopes up. We even got to the spot (where our friends had set up a picnic for us) and I saw the blanket and was like, “Aw man someone is in our spot”. Turns out it was for US! He proposed, and our closest friends popped out. It was the best. And then we decided to go to dinner with those friends and when we met them at their apartment, MORE of our friends were there for a surprise party. Truly the perfect day!

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Fun specialty cocktails like a: Hold my Hair Back Margarita to play to Jeanne’s love of hair ties we added a cute hair tie around the stem of the glass! We also had two others that were called a, 100% good time; cosmopolitan and a Drive Safe which was a mocktail moscow mule with a fun lime garnish.

Guests sat down to a first course made up of warm artisan bread and an ahi poke dish before an intermezzo course of blood orange sorbet. For the main course guests chose between Mahi Mahi with brussel sprouts, Grilled Ribeye with a chimichurri sauce and mushrooms or a Butternut Squash Ravioli with a bechamel sauce. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Florals: Best in bloom varieties with peonies, dahlias and garden roses (as a nod to Davis’s grandpas rose garden) and small moments of Bougainvillea which grew along of the fence of Jeanne’s childhood home.

Decor: To create dimension and texture throughout the space we draped tables in both bone velvet linens + a floral pattern to pair with the poppy florals. Floral chargers with coral plates and bone flatware sat upon half of the tables with a monochromatic citron setting on the other tables with velvet grass green napkins. Coral and bone place cards sat upon each table setting for guests to find their seats. Sprawling greenery hung above the tables across market lighting giving a romantic and intimate feel as the night went on and dusk settled in. Arches were carried through the entire wedding day starting with a triple arch ceremony backdrop, then into the cocktail hour with a cane arch bar with dusty pink barstools and arch gold back bars.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Rather than a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for an Ice Cream Sandwich bar from the Baked Bear! Fun flavors for guests to mix and match like Mud Pie, Blackberry Crumble and Cookies & Cream ice cream were paired with cookies in flavors like Funfetti, Snickerdoodle and Chocolate Chip. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Jeanne’s family has a special tradition to do a Flash Mob at each of the family members wedding where cousins, aunts, parents and even grandparents get together to create a dance + one of a kind song for each couple getting married and perform a song and dance for the happy couple! Jeanne’s family surprised Jeanne + Davis during the reception with a rendition of Taking Care of Business which they switched to “Jeannie Mae and Davis” and had all the guests up off their seats dancing along! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]To play to how Jeanne and Davis first met at Fireflower Festival we created an escort display full of wildflowers where guests found their names on each individual petal and their table number on the back side of it when they picked them off the wall! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]To bring the space to life a bit more for the reception as we flipped the space from the ceremony, we placed the head table under a trio of white cabanas with a soft nude and white striped backdrop to create a clean canvas! Velvet grass pendants + a mix of gold and clear pendants hung above the table with greenery and florals to create a lush tabletop.[/field]

How to Make a Major Statement With Your Something Blue!

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Something blue everywhere! Not just pops of it; but the manor blue color taken from traditional toile design was incorporated everywhere and deeply saturated throughout every design choice from the actual color of the delphinium flowers to the invitation suite to the napkins on the table. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The overall design vision was an English garden party mixed with the whimsy of Bridgerton mixed with subtle nods to the pop culture significance of a British Monarchy Royal Wedding. The cobblestone architecture of the venue itself was the ultimate scene to set.
Cassie/bride: Shortly after getting engaged, I found a photoshoot that my florist Deb (From Peonies to Paintchips) had done for New Jersey Bride-it was the custom “picture frame” with all of the florals around it that would soon become my future alter/ceremony spot. I was thrilled when Kasey confirmed that Deb and her team are one of their favorite vendors to partner with. I got in contact with them and said that shoot is exactly what I want. We recreated it and applied it to the entire venue. Anything that I could have dream up in my head was right in front of me, so we just built upon it from the pocket gardens on the head table to the greenery attached to all of the existing bistro lights. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Cassie: Kenny brought me to the top of the Edge in NYC. He had a photographer waiting who was dressed undercover as a tourist and worked with the Edge to be able to get the best corner view cleared out for a couple minutes to propose. It ended up being very public, about 200 of the other sightseers caught on to what was happening and broke out in cheers when I said yes. We had a glass of champagne before departing back to our apartment in Hoboken where I was surprised by an engagement party with a ton of our closest friends.[/field]

I reached out to the NYC atelier and asked if they happened to have the dress and they had an archival version of it. I went to try it on and fell in love. We did customize some elements of it, but that was always THE dress from the moment I saw it.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bridesmaids’ dresses were Amsale in icy blue. Tip: ask bridesmaids to save the extra fabric from alterations so it can be used on wedding day. Wrap it around the bouquets, use to decorate the wedding cake or memory table or use the backdrop for details shots. [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Highlights of the food included ancho rubbed skirt steak on crostini, heirloom tomato bruschetta, poached pear and brie tartlet for cocktail hour. The couple prioritized having an amazing vegetarian option of housemade gnocchi in addition to the salmon filets and chicken saltimbocca entrees. The signature beverage was an aperol spritz named The Foxy Lady in honor of their first dog together who had passed shortly before the wedding.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Delphiniums were the focal flower against bright whites. The bride’s grandmother had them in her wedding bouquet as well. Decor included a custom 8 foot “picture frame” that allowed you to see through to the beautiful backdrop of the golf course. The flowers were placed as if you stumbled upon them in an English Garden at the end of a cobblestone aisle completed with moss. This also created an instagrammable moment for guests to take pictures in front of all night. The florist provided an authentic red British phone both which doubled as our seating chart which made guests stop and admire it. Other key details that created the all-encompassing garden feel was loose greenery on the main staircase, stone busts and white flowered trees placed strategically to create the feeling of walking underneath them leading into the cocktail hour space. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The cake doubled as a major design moment. It was sliced upon a limestone pedestal surrounded in blue and white snapdragons and delphiniums. The cake had its own blue sash-like detailing to mirror the bride’s dress made from extra fabric of the matron of honor’s dress. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Cassie’s obsession with Bridgerton was personified by the Highline String Quartet playing throughout the ceremony and cocktail hour. The bride walked down the aisle to Invisible String by Taylor Swift, as her and the groom went to the same college, attended all the same parties and had many mutual friends but never met until years later. Readings included “Falling in Love is like Owning a Dog” and
“Carrie’s Poem” from Sex and the City. The officiant was Tanya Pushkine also known as the Vow Whisperer. She helped the couple create a moving ceremony honoring beloved departed family members.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Custom wood top “garden bar” with a greenery front in the outdoor cocktail hour space with small arrangements on every tabletop complete with golf balls at the bottom of each vase.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Instead of a traditional memory table, the couple showcased family weddings of the generations. It included wedding photos of grandparents, great aunts and uncles, great grandparents and more. It sparked conversation and created an opportunity for the younger generations to learn about both family trees. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]To play into the Royal Wedding theme, the custom cocktail napkins featured the couple’s faces photoshopped into the official wedding day photo of Princess Kate and Prince William. [/field]

What Is Gown Preservation (And Do You Need It)?

Your wedding flies by in a beautiful blur and your gown that was once pristine now bears the evidence of how much fun you and your guests had. There’s dirt on the hem, someone spilled champagne on it, and your partner may have stepped on it once or twice while you were breaking it down on the dance floor. No worries – this just means you had a great time! While it can be tempting to just put it back in the garment bag and push it to the back of your closet – try to resist the urge! It’s super important to have your gown cleaned, and preferably no more than one month after your wedding (the sooner, the better). The longer the stains stay on the fabric, the less likely they are to come out.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Jessa Schifilliti, Photographer

Most brides understand that they will need to have their gowns cleaned, but are surprised when the cleaning specialist suggests gown preservation, and are even more surprised when they see the cost. When we think preservation, we tend to think of antiques, old things that need special care and attention, but why preserve something that’s essentially brand new? Getting your gown preserved now helps keep it looking as close to new for as long as possible. This way, down the road, if your children or grandchildren want to wear it, or if you just want to take it out and reminisce, it looks just the way you remember it.

What it Costs and How to Find a Reliable Vendor

The sticker shock for wedding gown cleaning and preservation is no joke, with the average cost coming in at around $400, but it can go upwards of $1,000, depending on the level of damage and detail on your gown (just when you thought you were done spending money on the wedding!). Most gown preservation specialists will need to see your gown in-person to provide you with an accurate quote. While you are there, ask them to see the box that they use to package the gowns. It should have a window where you can see through to the gown inside so that you can confirm it is indeed your gown that you’re picking up. It is also important to read reviews before committing to a vendor.

When it comes to finding a gown preservation specialist, it is always best to get a first-person recommendation from a friend or from the bridal boutique where you purchased your gown. Yelp and Google are also great places to find reviews and recommendations for vendors in your area; just type “Wedding Gown Cleaning and Preservation” into the search bar.

So, What Exactly Goes into Gown Preservation?

It’s a process! Before the gown is preserved it has to be cleaned. Because of the intricate details and delicate fabrics, cleaning a wedding gown is different than cleaning a regular garment, even different from cleaning most cocktail dresses. It is important that wherever you choose to take your gown specializes in cleaning wedding gowns, specifically. Your gown should have a care label sewn somewhere inside the dress (likely on the side seam towards the hem) that your cleaning specialist can refer to. Most gowns require spot cleaning, and each layer of fabric may require a different process, depending on the type of fabric and the fiber content. This is a meticulous process and it is done by hand, which is why it costs so much more than your average dry cleaning bill. To make sure that they address every stain, some companies even use a black light to find ones that may be invisible to the naked eye but would cause the gown to yellow over time. It is possible that your cleaning specialist may not be able to remove all of the stains, but they should let you know if that’s the case, so you’re not surprised years later.

After your gown is cleaned, the preservation specialist does a quality control inspection and makes minor repairs to the gown like re-sewing beads that have fallen off or mending small tears. Once your gown has been cleaned and repaired, it is treated with a special formula that protects it from mold and mildew. It is then folded placed in a keepsake archival box and wrapped with muslin or acid-free paper to prevent the creases from setting in. The box is sealed and it’s ready for you to take it home. The seal prevents the gown from being exposed to the air and microscopic particles that may be in it, so it is important to keep the gown sealed and in the box until you are ready to take it out for good.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Jada Poon Photography

When Not to Preserve

While we definitely recommend gown preservation for most brides, it’s not always a necessity. If you plan on wearing your gown again soon or are planning on selling it, there is no need to preserve it; instead, just get it professionally cleaned and repaired. Whether you decide to preserve it or not, it is important to store your gown in a cool dry place, like your closet.

We know it can seem like another huge expense, but trust us, it’s worth it! Years from now when your gown looks just the way it did when you married the love of your life, you’ll be happy you took good care of it!

Romantic Alfresco Vineyard Wedding In Santa Ynez

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Abby and Drew’s wedding utilized creamy neutrals and romantic pastels. The existing stone of Sunstone Villa created an antique beige backdrop, while various shades of green, blue, and blush were woven through the design. Light, cornflower, blue of particular importance to the bride, was used throughout the wedding from the invitations, to the ceremony cite, bridesmaids dresses, and day of stationery.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]This weekend of events was romantic, classic, and tastefully festive. The rehearsal dinner was placed among the vines of the vineyard, creating an intimate al fresco experience while the wedding that followed was inspired by French market culture and placed under romantic café lighting. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Abby and Drew met during their Sophomore year at the University of Colorado at Boulder. A chance meeting at a party that neither of them had intentions of attending, they very quickly discovered years of shared history and overlapping stories. Abby and Drew had grown up just 10 minutes apart, on the opposite sides of the same hill, attended schools in the same sports league, both played water polo, and competed in swimming. Later on in their relationship, Abby would even find a video on her phone, from when she was 14, in which you can see Drew. They had spent years in parallel, and finally, their paths had crossed.

The night Drew proposed, the two drove up to Breckenridge, CO dressed for dinner. They enjoyed wine in downtown Breckenridge and then Drew told Abby he wanted to take her to a lookout point before dinner. There, about 50 feet off the path at Sapphire Point, staring off at the view and Lake Dillon below, Drew made the slightest movement to shift Abby in front of him, took one step back and got down on one knee. Abby immediately said yes. After some hugs, and lots of tears, Drew revealed the hidden photographer and their friends and family promptly jumped out! They all spent the weekend together in Breckenridge, organized completely by Drew.[/field]

Abby wore a floral embellished off-the-should ballgown from Kinsley James Bridal and designed by Netta BenShabu. The dress is fittingly named “Meadow” as the floral applique crawled up the bodice. And, she wore her Maid of Honor’s veil as her “something borrowed.”

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

All of the bridesmaids wore blue during the getting ready process and blue satin dresses from Revelry for the wedding itself to serve as Abby’s “something blue.” She said “These women are my favorite people (besides Drew), and I would not be the woman I am today without them. Spanning lifelong friends, to family, and friends I have met in College, they were my something blue, and with me every step of the way from the moment I got engaged to the moment we left in the getaway car (which was also blue).”

Their signature drinks were made from Lockwood Distilling Co. spirits, a vendor which they chose as it mimicked the groom’s namesake. Hers was an Elderflower and Lemon Gin and Tonic, while His was a Strawberry Moscow Mule. They of course, also served, Sunstone Villa wine.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The florals paid homage to the Bride’s wish for French and Mediterranean inspired design. The arrangements were romantic and lush, while blending in to the natural landscape and pallet of the venue. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The wedding cake, made by the Solvang Bakery, was three-tiered with a smooth buttercream icing finish and fondant flowers. The flavor was a decadent lemon with lemon parfait and fresh raspberries and strawberries. It was made complete with a custom figurine of their treasured dog.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Abby’s favorite part of her day was Drew reciting his vows, saying this “Drew is not a man of many words, however he completely blew me away with his vows. Truly, the way he confidently professed his love and promises and expressed his feelings were something I will never forget. Completely original and truly from the heart.”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Abby says that the best advice she received before her wedding was “After the ceremony, don’t let go of your partner’s hand. Make time throughout the day to sit together and take it all in, away from everyone else. Be a guest at your wedding, and enjoy it together.”[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The couple’s invitations were venue forward, previewing the Villa to guests as the centerpiece for the wedding. They worked with stationer, Em Paper Co., to create a custom line drawing of our venue, and included an envelope liner invoking the essence of southern France from the moment you opened the invitation. The suite was enveloped in a custom designed velum jacket to feel as though you were walking through the vines to Sunstone and was wax sealed with our initials. The weekend itinerary was listed on the details card, surrounded but a wreath of vines and florals. The primary invitation evoked an old word, European feel, inviting guests to the ceremony, following by dinner and dancing under the stars.

A Black Tie Affair With a Floral Twist at Bar Mansion in Austin

[section title=”The Planning”]

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The vision for the wedding was Garden Party Gala: a black tie affair with a floral twist. Guests were encouraged to wear pastels and floral patterns in their formalwear while enjoying an almost completely outdoor event. The ceremony and cocktail hour were held around golden hour, while dinner was served just as the sunset was ending. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]A little backstory: a few months into dating, Adam took Kyra out to Cape Cod where his mom lives. On a quiet beach with no one else around, Adam and Kyra exchanged their first “I love you”s. Fast forward to two years after that, the couple was back visiting family on the Cape. In Spohr Gardens on the water, just a short distance away from the original “I love you” spot, Adam proposed to Kyra. He was wearing the museum pin they received from their first date at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston.

While the engagement was something they had discussed, the proposal moment was a joyous surprise. Adam had even planned an engagement party the next day with their family and closest friends.[/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]The ceremony gown was from Watters Designs, specifically their Willowby line. It was a white, A-line dress with full sleeves, an open back, and floral beading across the entire bust. The details provided the right amount of whimsy for the garden party theme.

After dinner, Kyra changed into a silk ivory dress from Shona Joy. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Kyra asked her bridesmaids to pick whatever dress they felt comfortable in, while staying in the color palette for the day. There was a lovely balance of pinks, sage tones, and one floral dress. [/field]

Guests enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour, followed by a plated dinner. The couple chose their signature drink, the Hugo–based on the classic cocktail of prosecco, St. Germain, and sparkling water–to highlight their corgi of the same name.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]With a garden party theme, florals were very important to the bride. Christin from Clementine Botanical Art put together a stunning variety of flowers for aisle pieces, table centerpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres. The chuppah covered in baby’s breath brought the entire vision to life.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The wedding cake was also made in-house at Barr Mansion. It featured a vanilla chiffon cake with strawberry mousse as the frosting. The external design was simple and classic with only a few flowers as an accent.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The processional was split into three moments: the groom and his parents walked down the aisle to Wasteland, Baby! by Hozier, the wedding party walked down in pairs to Turning Page by Sleeping at Last, and the bride walked down with her parents to La Valse d’Amélie by Yann Tiersen (a piece from the score of her favorite movie Amélie).

Readings included the poem “[i carry your heart with me[i carry it in]” by e.e. cummings and a snippet from The Little Prince. The bride and groom’s wedding bands were engraved with a line from the poem.

At the reception, Adam performed Kyra’s father-daughter dance song, playing guitar and singing Stop This Train by John Mayer. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Kyra’s father Mickey officiated their non-traditional ceremony, blending elements from their Christian faith and Jewish heritage.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]As a designer herself, Kyra took up the challenge to design all digital and printed elements of the wedding. The website, save the dates, invitation suite, programs, menus, signage, and more were all lovingly created by the bride.[/field]

Elegant Wedding Weekend at Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, Italy

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The color palette for Vivian and Mike wedding in Ravello has been shades of light pink with touch of greenery[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Vivian and Mike, from the beginning of the planning process, had a very clear idea of what they wanted for their destination wedding; it can be summarized into 3 words: Romantic, elegant and overall fun wedding day! Yes, because when you plan a large destination wedding and ask your guests to travel to Italy (what a good excuse!) you should guarantee something that they will never forget! They were looking to host a beautiful wedding but really wanted to add authentic experiences to make a memorable wedding week-end!

So that, Vivian and Mike added 2 extra events to their wedding day.
The welcome event was at Trattoria da Lorenzo located in Scala, a small village close to Ravello.
While enjoying delicious food, guests could taste fresh mozzarella made live, and try handmade sandals. We also organised a corner with demonstrations of how to make fresh pasta. They also added a corder for the typical sandals in order to walk easily in the street of the Amalfi coast. It is always very important to accurately plan the welcome event as it is the first moment in which all your guests gather together for you! It needs to be curated and full of nice things to do in order to get the right start for the wedding celebration.
The day after the wedding, we moved all guests from Ravello to Nerano at the iconic Conca del Sogno for a relaxed beach day and some fun with the Sgroppino show!
[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]The love story
It’s true that it is possible to find real love online! This happened to Vivian and Mike who matched on Bumble and after their first date they never left each other! Vivian and Mike are big travellers and after a trip to Positano a few years ago they decided to plan their wedding on the Amalfi coast. It is common to read on blogs that when couples decide for a destination wedding they are looking for a more intimate affair but of course this wasn’t valid for Vivian and Mike. In fact they invited more than 120 guests and over 90 guests attended the wedding in Ravello.

Who does what?
Vivian was in charge of everything related to the vision, the mood and the style of the day, with a very accurate eye for the details and to the colour palette; Mike instead was in charge of the food and wins, the music and the party!

Villa Cimbrone and the planning process
The planning started and as per the first step it was important to define the wedding date and the wedding venue. After considering the different options the Amalfi coast offers, they fell in love with Ravello and they picked one of the most exclusive venues the area offers: Villa Cimbrone. Villa Cimbrone offers lush gardens and breathtaking views from every single corner and the WOW factor is a guarantee!
For Vivian and Mike was important to give a crescendo and let guests to see the beauty of the place; so, they choose the Garden of the 2 O for the wedding ceremony to view the amalfi coast line; for the cocktail hours they wanted the Infinity Terrace, without any doubt one of the most breathtaking and unique spot of the entire Amalfi coast! They pick the crypt for the dinner and the party after.

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

Is there any specific reason why you choose the Amalfi Coast to get married? We traveled to the Amalfi Coast in 2019 and loved it! It’s absolutely beautiful, romantic, beachside, and the food’s amazing. It was so special to be able to tie the knot with family and make the Amalfi Coast even more special to us.

Do you have any advice to share with couple who want to have a destination wedding in Italy? You will never regret having a destination wedding surrounded by your closest friends and family. Our advice would be to take the leap to have your wedding abroad, as it will be so memorable for you and all your guests. Enjoy the planning process, the wedding day, and you will forever have a place to visit that will feel so special.

This Iconic Bride Designed and Constructed Her Entire Wedding Party Fashion, All Inspired by Bridgerton!

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Bridgerton, Garden Inspired pink, mauve, berry, lavender, delicate blue, blue/green coral, juniper moss.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Inspired by Bridgerton and The Secret Garden. We played up the natural beauty of Filoli Gardens. When we first toured the site, we were inspired by how every visitor could have their own adventure, while meandering through the flowers and trees. We wanted to create beautiful spaces tucked away as one peered through garden doors, gates, bushes, and trees. One may even stumble upon a musical performer in the trees. For the fashion designs of the bridal party, I channelled ballet princess energy fused with Asian American influence, the garden elements/ colors of Filoli, and a tinge of elevated street wear silhouettes. This was modeled through the ornate skirts, demure skin exposure, millennial pink, and pearl accents.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Since I was a young ice-skater, dreaming of skating in the Olympics and following in the footsteps of my idol, Michelle Kwan, I always wondered what it would be like to find love with a life partner who enjoyed the ice, maybe even one day hoping for an on ice proposal. However, I never told a soul.

Fast forward to the end of 2020, months COVID related restrictions had changed the way of life in New York City. A suddenly diminished social life made me realize I needed to find a new outlet for my time and energy. I decided to dust off the ice skates from my youth to resume dedicated freestyle skating sessions. My passion for skating quickly picked up where I had left it 15 years before. Pre-dawn skate sessions at the picturesque outdoor rink in midtown Manhattan’s Bryant Park rapidly became the highlight of my winter days. Brian, my husband, joined me occasionally to skate big loops around the rink. Although not a hockey player, growing up in Chicago, Brian learned the skills to skate on ice and play pickup neighborhood pond hockey games. On Feb 22, 2022, Brian joined a morning skate session with an unusual amount of eagerness. He rose early and urged me from bed before daybreak. I worked my double axels as Brian glided around the boards. Towards the end of the session, the rink was still empty. I stopped to embrace one of my favorite moments: the bite of a winter morning offset by the sun easing upwards between the buildings on an ice rink that we had to ourselves. While I was distracted, Brian got down on one knee to tie a loose skate. He came back with a tightened skate, a ring, and a promise to continue exploring life together indefinitely. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Western wedding gown and custom reception dresses were by Monique Lheullier. Both offered the flexibility in custom design to remain most authentically true to her personal style and theme of the day, jj-esque. Jennifer’s custom tea ceremony dress was by Galia Lahav[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Jennifer designed, draped, and constructed her own bridal party fashion, pre-wedding/getting ready wear for the bridal party and wedding day sneakers.
Her passion for design and customization stemmed from a bond with her mother that they developed when she was younger, designing and sewing the dresses for her skating competitions. Shortly after becoming engaged, Jennifer realized there was an opportunity to revisit this creative passion. She decided to produce a collection of custom pieces to share with friends and family at a grand event: her wedding at Filoli Historic House & Garden.
Without formal education in fashion design, the bride began drawing and draping the bridesmaids’ dresses while designing complimentary bridal sneakers. Months of refinement brought about the finished pieces. Esque, meaning ‘in the style of,’ is the name of this collection. It is built on the ethos of pieces made for an individual with the added flair of her own jj-esque aesthetic, which embodies ballet princess energy fused with Asian American influence, garden elements, and a tinge of streetwear. This collection contains 26 custom pieces that showcase ballet-esque through ornate skirts, demure skin exposure, millennial pink, and pearl accents. [/field]

Modern Romance On The Shores Of Cyprus

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]We used only black and white at this lovely wedding for a very sleek and modern feel.[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The couple wanted something that would make an impact on their guests from the moment that they walked in. The vision was to be incredibly romantic and very modern and clean. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]This is a tear jerker! The couple are high school sweethearts, and our ultra romantic groom Fayez, proposed to a stunned Raneen on the very spot in the playground where he asked her to be his girlfriend all those years ago. Their friends played an important role in getting Raneen to the school without raisins suspicions and Fayez had adorned the area with candlelight. An easy and tearful YES followed an emotional proposal on one knee.[/field]

[section title=”The Fashion”]
[field title=”Wedding Gown”]The gown was hand made in Jordan and designed just for Raneen. The gloves were exactly on trend and the pearls echoed the detailing on the wedding cake, adding a subtle touch of glamour. The main feature though, aside from the cathedral length veil, the flowing train and the thigh high split, was the removable over skirt. The dress transformed effortlessly in to a show stopping bridal mini dress. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bridesmaids were the only soft touch of colour. Amidst the modern black and white theme, the maids wore soft blush satin dresses. For full coordination, they got ready and helped the bride in matching blush satin robes.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]From the first moment I met Fayez, he was telling me about his black tie wedding day style. He looked super stylish in a crisp black tux and bow tie, with glowing white shirt. His father and brothers served as his grooms men and they all looked dapper in coordinating and formal black and white ensembles.[/field]

[/board_carousel]
[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]In Jordan, the food is a huge element of weddings. So Raneen and Fayez wanted to make sure their guests appetites were satiated. This involved lots of Mediterranean flavours and dishes local to Cyprus as well as international favourites. The live cooking and carving stations went down a treat with their guests![/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]This was an extremely important element for Raneen, as she also has a back ground in design. The aesthetics were very high on her priority list. Over the dance floor, she chose to make an impact with a sky full of fairy lights. For the dining tables, we chose to implement round and long tables, allowing the best use of space and a variation in centrepieces. We wanted to go for a clean, almost minimal look with the flowers but still giving a full, lush table scape. Clear vases and glassware helped achieve this clean finish and this was further enhanced by the transparent chairs. For the modern edge, we used statement black candles and for one splash of colour, rose gold thank you cards were awaiting each guest as they sat down. The tables seemed to glow at night, with soft festoon lighting in the leaves of the trees and real candlelight on the tables themselves.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The pearls that adorned the cake mirrored the pearls on our brides gown and veil. They wanted a classic white cake, but with a modern touch which the pearls achieved perfectly. The brief given for the size was ‘as tall as the groom!'[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The ceremony was a personal one, performed by the family’s priest who came from Jordan especially for the union. The uninterrupted sea views and the energy of anticipation from the guests was enough to make this ceremony memorable, but Raneen also opted for two statement floral installations to pull focus to the bride and groom. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

The couple partied hard on the dance floor and even bought in a live sax player to keep the energy high.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]The couple had a logo made out of their initials which was used on the thank you cards at each place setting. They also gave all staff working the wedding a badge with the logo on.[/field]

Nuptials with Whimsical Butterflies and Every Shade of Pink In D.C.

Every Shade of Pink with Gold accents.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Christina and Brian knew they wanted a romantic and timeless wedding that reflected Washington, DC, where their love story began. They fell in love with DAR Constitutional Memorial Hall immediately and chose it as their venue, just down the street from the White House with a spectacular view of the Washington Monument that reminded them of Brian’s proposal. As lifelong readers, they also couldn’t resist the venue’s historic library, where they hosted their cocktail hour. Inspired by spring and summer in DC, they leaned into their whimsical garden style for their big day and dove headfirst into abundant pink and white florals, with butterflies appearing among the blooms on their floral cart escort card stand and on their cake. Their love of pink showed up everywhere, from the tablecloths to the bridesmaids’ dresses. The botanical appliqués on Christina’s lace and tulle ballgown completed the floral feel.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Christina and Brian met as undergraduate students at Georgetown University and began dating early in their freshman year. After ten years together, which included four years at college, three years of law school for both Christina and Brian, and several stressful months spent studying for and passing the bar, they knew it was time to take the next step- once they were finally done being students! Brian designed a custom ring (with a little bit of input from Christina…) and secretly arranged for a proposal photographer to be there when he popped the question in Constitution Gardens, in front of the Washington Monument, on a sunny October afternoon. Brian lured Christina away from a busy day at work by telling her that family friends were in town and wanted to see some of the sights in DC. While Christina had her back turned to look at the Washington Monument, Brian got down on one knee, and the rest is history! After Christina said yes, and with many happy tears, Christina and Brian FaceTimed their family and friends to share the exciting news. The couple celebrated that night at Georgia Brown’s, one of their favorite restaurants in DC, where they have spent every Valentine’s Day. Several months later, Christina and Brian’s families surprised them with an engagement party at Top of the Town, where they celebrated surrounded by their loved ones.

Christina knew she wanted a fairy tale dress (with the biggest skirt possible!) and started the search in DC, but it wasn’t until she was home visiting her family that at a local bridal boutique, Jessica Haley, she found the one. It is paired with the most perfect butterfly-adorned shoes from Bella Belle Shoes and a sparkling cathedral-length Toni Federici veil.

The Groom wore a custom suit by Tom James Company with an off-white shawl collar jacket to contrast his groomsmen’s classic black tuxedos. Custom cocktails at the oversized bar were available on the terrace to guests throughout the dinner service. Christina’s signature cocktail was a glittering purple gin and tonic topped with cherry blossoms, and Brian’s coffee old fashioned was guaranteed to keep you on the dance floor. As avid foodies, it was important to Christina and Brian that the food be delicious! They chose miniature versions of some of their favorite snacks for cocktail hour, including chicken and waffle bites and pimento biscuits. Cocktail hour was held in the library, where hors d’oeuvres were passed among the bookcases, and guests could enjoy their beverages sitting at the reading tables. After the seasonal three-course dinner, guests could enjoy some of the couple’s favorite treats, including individual cookies and milk, while waiting for the cake to be passed.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Whimsical and romantic garden style was the inspiration for the day, softening the monumental grandeur of their venue. A mix of high and low arrangements Pink and white florals helped highlight the stunning ornate facade of their reception space. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

After several cake tastings- one of the highlights of wedding planning for the couple- Christina and Brian chose an almond cake with caramelized hazelnuts and chocolate cake with cookies and cream buttercream for their guests to enjoy. A playful three-tier cake covered in blooms and fluttering butterflies was a focal point of the reception design. Framed by a bountiful floral moment.

From Walter, the Groom… “It was February 19, 2022. I had planned a romantic staycation at the 1 Hotel in Brooklyn for our two-year anniversary. I was so nervous, and just before we left for the hotel, a snow squall blew through – fortunately, it quickly passed. We hopped in an Uber to Dumbo and went on a walk to stall while the photographer set up on the roof. When it was time, I got the text that the photographer was ready. We had a “dinner reservation” at the rooftop restaurant, so I said, “Let’s go check out the views quickly.” That’s where I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me with the Manhattan skyline in the background. We shared a celebratory drink with just the two of us before heading down to the hotel lobby, where we met both of our families. It was a nice surprise for Claire! Afterward, we went over to Randolph Beer Garden, where we had about 50 friends waiting for us, some of whom had flown in from out of town to surprise Claire. It was the perfect way to end the night! We had so much fun.”

My mom grew up in Darien, so it was very special to spend the day there with her and we had a wonderful experience with the team at A Little Something White. The dress I chose ended up being the first one I tried on that day! For my wedding day jewelry, I rented the Caitlin earring from Verstolo, and also wore a Ring Concierge tennis bracelet that Walt gave me as a gift for my birthday. I wore a pair of my mom’s diamond earrings on the rehearsal dinner night.”

Claire chose 3 silhouettes of the Show Me Your Mumu Moss Green Crisp dress for her bridal party. She had everyone rank their favorites so in the end it was a nice mix but the fabric matched perfectly.

Guests were greeted with champagne and sparkling water at the ceremony. During cocktail hour, we had passed hors d’oeuvres including a mini lobster roll, cute pairings like a burger with mini beer and taco with mini patron, miniature chicken and waffles, and an artisanal cheese and charcuterie station. For the dinner reception, the couple wanted to keep the main focus the dancing and celebrating, so they opted for formal stations. They included a handcrafted pasta station, a paella station, and a carving station among others. Later after the wedding cake was cut and served, we included a dessert parade on the dance floor and served things like mini chipwich ice cream sandwiches, liquored milk shake shots, key lime meringue tartlets, and mini eclairs accompanied by espresso shots to keep the party going! Afterward, guests were invited downstairs to continue the fun in an after-party space that included some fun late-night bites and cocktails.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Our aim was to incorporate the venue’s natural surroundings in a thoughtful way. The ceremony was held right on the water. The green and white florals felt so summery and perfect for being out east. White paddle fans were included to keep guests cool while they enjoyed the sunshine. The view from cocktails overlooks the marina with the gorgeous horizon in the distance and boats in the foreground. In the reception space, we chose a variety of different linens and patterns incorporating calming whites and muted sage greens. The floral arrangements created by Park and Bloom were organic and natural feeling, a mix of whites with greenery to compliment the linens. We added lounge furniture around the dance floor to soften the space and make sure there was a comfortable spot for guests to rest their feet. The florals in front of the band’s stage helped to bring the outside in and add a touch of romance.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The wedding cake made by Leanne Rose was a classic white-tiered wedding cake surrounded by a halo of fresh flowers. The whole cake table felt special. Claire changed into a fun mini dress and Jimmy Choo pumps for the cake cutting which helped kick off an even bigger dance party.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

A string quartet from Luminous Sounds, Inc. performed during the ceremony and cocktail hour.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

We styled a special seating arrangement in cocktail hour with a vintage white Fete Fone for guests to leave a message for Claire and Walt. Later while guests were enjoying dinner, we transitioned the phone down to the main floor so that it could have a second life in the reception space.

From Claire, the Bride… “Our planner, Julie Lindenman Events, suggested the Fete Fone as a fun alternative to a traditional guest book. Guests were able to leave us a message on the phone, and all our messages were compiled and sent to us after the wedding day. It was so much fun to hear the voices of our loved ones and relive the day listening to all of the sweet messages!”

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

From the Bride… “We worked with Sydney from Crane & Palette for our stationery and day of décor, and she designed the most beautiful custom crest that fit perfectly with our venue, incorporating watercolors of green and blue and even a sailboat as a nod to the Peconic Bay Yacht Club. We loved it so much that we incorporated it into as many fun “day-of” items as possible – including matchbooks, napkins, and our wedding welcome boxes (which were filled with local Long Island treats including Tate’s Cookies and North Fork Chips)”

Bold Colors Inspired By A Tube Of Gucci Lipstick

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

The entire design created and executed by Rachael Ellen Events, including the florals, was inspired by a tube of Gucci lipstick. The bold colors and florals, reflected even in Pola’s dress, were an homage to springtime in Italy.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The colors were bold reds, pinks, and yellows, with romantic greens to complement the natural beauty surrounding the Villa.

[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]

On the breathtaking Lake Como in Italy there is a villa that juts out dramatically into the lake, and is only easily accessible by boat. The Villa Del Balbianello is stunning in every way. Unique architecture is on display, and the way the natural beauty of the lake creeps across the open-air structures, weaving up the columns in snake-like vines is breathtaking.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

Both of Pola’s breathtaking gowns were designed by Hermoine DePaula. Her ceremony gown was embroidered with delicate florals, mimicking the bold and colorful floral design of the day. The sheath silhouette flattered her perfectly, and the gown choice enhanced the beauty of the day’s design. Pola’s reception gown continued the floral theme with delicate appliqués of leaves and vines, with added sparkle for the party. Both gowns had elegant pearl buttons down the back, adding romance to the unique gowns.

Rachael Ellen and her team created the most stunning, dramatic florals for Pola and David. Beginning with a ceremony arch that began with rich pinks and reds and faded to delicate blushes and pale yellows, the design was bold and beautiful yet graceful. Pola’s bouquet was monochromatic and bright, perfectly contrasting her gown. At a venue where natural beauty abounds, the elegant and dramatic florals were a complement to the exquisite location.

[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]

My favorite design element was the bold use of color. Especially in the tablescape set under the villa’s iconic arches, the low centerpieces had a dramatic impact on the long table in deep shades of reds and pinks. The gilded gold in the flatware, chairs, and centerpiece cases glinted in the bright sun, adding a rich metallic element to the design. The blue linens tied together the blue water of the lake below, combining all that is beautiful about springtime in Lake Como.

[/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]Embracing color and unique gowns will bring a vibrant spring or summer wedding to life. The bold, rich, romantic tones of the day enhanced the natural beauty of the villa, and the bride’s chic gown with floral embroidery brought together the design of the day.[/field]

Blushing And Organic Spring Inspired Wedding In Napa

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors featured creams, pearled ivory, peach blush, cameo rose, sheepskin, green olive, and garden green.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

As Hanna & Matt’s planner, I knew hosting a wedding in Napa would feature their overall romantic yet modern aesthetic. Stanly Ranch was the perfect setting as it was a new Auberge property highlighting modern furnishings, which Hanna & Matt loved yet provided an exceptional elevated guest experience for their closest people. Hanna is a true romantic & traditionalist at heart, so I wanted to keep the wedding flowers lush to soften Stanly Ranch‘s modern architecture.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

From the bride… When he popped the question, Matt and I, college sweethearts, were celebrating seven years of dating. Matt had just graduated from law school and taken the bar exam, and I had just won an award at work. So, we jetted off to Maui, Hawaii, to celebrate. On our second day in paradise, we went walking along Baldwin Beach before dinner, where I stumbled upon the most romantic setup—a blanket covered in rose petals, accompanied by a chilled bottle of champagne and two awaiting glasses. Matt took my hand and dropped to one knee and, with the ocean behind him, asked me to marry him. It was the easiest “yes!” of my life. We kept the party going with a fantastic dinner at Mama’s Fish House. The rest of our vacation was spent alone, celebrating our newly engaged status… the stuff dreams are made of!

From the bride… The dress is a princess-inspired gown by Berta. The strapless gown has shimmering fabric and a subtle floral lace pattern over the bodice, trailing down to the top of the wedding dress skirt. A modern twist on this classic silhouette is the high leg slit, adding a touch of allure to achieve the classic and elegant look I envisioned. To complete the look, I wore sparkly Cinderella slipper-inspired heels by Jimmy Choo, along with a long, simple wedding veil and drop earrings. It’s the ideal combination of timeless and sexy that I had envisioned!

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

From the bride… My bridesmaids wore rose gold satin dresses, each choosing a style that suited them best. They paired the dresses with simple gold jewelry and strappy neutral heels, creating a chic and coordinated look.

A Peach & Pistachio Color Palette at The Beach Club

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

Primavera in Italian translates to Spring. We aimed to capture the delicate textures of the first spring blooms in everything we gathered for this day from the hand-stitched fabric petals on the menus, and the floral printed ceremony dress, to the details on the table, sun-drenched window sill, and stairway at cocktail hour. Sorbet and citrus tones turned up the color story to an otherwise soft, pastel palette.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The sorbet color palette of peach, citrus, coral, and pistachio green appeared to be lit from within by the venue’s large, arched windows. Light bounced from all angles from the southern-facing walls. The perfect location to create a blooming, spring setting for the bride and groom to have their first look and portraits. [/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]The Beach Club is a beautiful venue that has elements of old-world architecture outdoors on the patio space overlooking the lake and modern finishes within. Both are fitting for this design approach to a textural, spring wedding. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]A romantic off-the-shoulder dress in a light green floral pattern made it feel as though we were being true to the moment of spring. The light fabric allowed the warm sunshine against her skin during their first look and portraits. We wanted it to feel like she was wearing her favorite dress and ready for the sun after a winter indoors. His wardrobe, romantic as it is fresh with the spring green shirt and white linen suit looks fitting in the space next to her dress. Peachy, strap sandals with a small heel melded the effortless look together perfectly with the blooms of her bouquet and grand, window installation. [/field]

[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]One of the many favorite design elements from this day is the warm, wood chair in the space that grounds the design and creates a balance of a smooth texture against the embroidered texture of the table linen. The coral ribbon on Ann’s bouquet brings whimsy to the otherwise formal room, the feeling of spring is effortless here. The styling of Ann’s naturally wavy hair into a side ponytail by Heather Trachel continues the design’s textural elements throughout the look. We loved how the desserts at the table worked harmoniously with the flowers on the table. Both look delicious enough to eat. The staff at Damico Catering created a beautiful presentation on the scalloped plates of citrus tart, candied kumquats and citrus slices, meringue, and pistachio sprinkles. The neutral-toned flatware handles didn’t disrupt the flow of the color palette on the tables making an even color story across the tablescape. Last but not least, the styled kumquats, endive and pistachio green cauliflower gave all the color we could ever want on a light-as-air table. [/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]We kept the floral and wood tones within the same monochromatic palette alongside the touch of green glass on the table. It kept the look feeling as light as air on the table and bouquet; nothing too saturated or it would have drawn the eye too much in one direction. Curating the floral and fruit ingredients and rental selections by tone and texture was key to the look. [/field]
[field title=”DIY Moments”]On the day, when Claire fitted Ann in the maxi reception dress with balloon sleeves, she wanted a bit more of a waist without using sparkle and used the same coral, velvet ribbon as the ceremony bouquet to tie an empire look for the romantic champagne toast and reception attire. Vivid Love: A Radiant Celebration of Color at Black Butte Ranch!

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Hana’s one request when describing her design aesthetic to Danielle, with Danielle DeMarco Events was that she wanted the wedding to feel fun and colorful. Hana gravitated towards retro printed stationery, pastels and brights, and design that both complimented the ranch and reflected the couple’s goal of having a good time! [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

For their long-awaited wedding, they chose the picturesque Black Butte Ranch as the backdrop for their love story. Nestled in the heart of Oregon, the ranch’s sprawling landscapes provided the perfect canvas for their wedding. They wanted their wedding to have a laidback vibe, but also feel like a scene from a wedding in the Hamptons. The rolling hills and majestic mountains mirrored the journey they had traveled together—filled with highs and lows, but always leading to the next beautiful chapter. Vibrant colors filled the air as the couple embraced the joyous occasion with an abundance of lively florals. A bright and cheery color palette, inspired by the local flowers that adorned the ranch, set the tone for a celebration as unique and radiant as the love they shared.

Romantic Autumn Wedding at Historic King Mansion

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

Nestled amidst the grandeur of the Historic King Mansion, an autumn wedding editorial unfolded like a living embodiment of a timeless love narrative. The estate, exuding vintage allure and stately architecture, served as the idyllic canvas for this meticulously orchestrated celebration. Conceived by photographer sisters of Courtney Dueppengiesser Photography, Courtney Dueppengiesser, and Makenzi Rempel, along with the sister planners of Poppi Company, affectionately known as “The Sistershop,” the event was a visual feast, offering attendees a full day of capturing an opulent display of florals, intricate details, and a real model couple.

The rich colors of autumn, including the warm and inviting Pantone’s 2024 shades of peach, added a touch of sophistication to the decor.

The mansion’s exterior was adorned with draping ivy and seasonal foliage garlands, while the reception tables boasted sumptuous arrangements by Wild Indigo Floral Design. The cocktail hour proved to be a cherished highlight, complete with actual cocktails and a Mediterranean grazing station catered by JDK Catering. At every turn, one couldn’t help but fall under the spell of the opulence and romance that permeated the atmosphere. This autumn wedding editorial, within the historic mansion’s graceful embrace, encapsulated the very essence of a genuine, enduring love story, where tradition and nature harmonized in a breathtaking tapestry of beauty and affection.

Here’s Exactly What Goes Into Your Gown Budget

You’ve got your first bridal appointment scheduled, your gown inspiration board curated, now all that’s left is to decide just how much you are willing to spend on your gown. It may seem like a simple question, you may have already set aside a specific amount when you were determining your wedding budget, or a friend or relative may be gifting you the gown and determined the budget for you. But your gown budget needs to cover so much more than the gown itself. So, before the bridal consultant asks you for your budget, make sure you’ve accounted for everything.

PHOTOGRAPHY  | Love & You Studios

1. Gown Ticket Price

This is the first thing that comes to mind when we think “gown budget”. It’s simple enough, it’s the price of the gown. That being said, the same gown can have different prices at different retailers, so if you do know exactly which gown your heart is set on, do some research and call around to make sure you’re getting the best price possible. Another way to make your budget stretch a little further is by shopping trunk shows, where boutiques usually offer significant discounts if you order during the promotional period.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Taylor & Porter

2. Cost of Alterations

For many women, their wedding gown is the first and only garment they will have altered, so it can be hard to know what to expect when it comes to pricing. Even if you have had garments altered in the past, wedding gown alterations cost significantly more than say, a cocktail dress or suit. If the boutique where you are planning on purchasing the gown offers in-house alterations, you may be able to get an estimate from their tailor before you place the order for the gown. Because the store sample is usually not the same size you order, they won’t be able to give you an exact quote until they see you in your actual dress, but at least this will give you a place to start. If you aren’t sure yet where you are getting your alterations, we recommend budgeting around $700. This is on the high end, but it is always better to budget more than to not set aside enough.

PHOTOGRAPHER | The Great Romance Photo

3. Sales Taxes

This is probably the most overlooked piece of the gown budget and it can be a pretty penny! The sales tax rate depends on where you live or where you purchase your gown. So, before you take that gown shopping trip, make sure to look up the sales tax rate on clothing for your destination (city and state).

PHOTOGRAPHER | Oliver Fly Photography

4. Shipping & Handling Fees

Whether you are searching for more variety or meeting up with friends and family, it’s not uncommon to travel to another city or state to go gown shopping. If you don’t plan on traveling back to the boutique where you purchased your gown, most boutiques can ship the gown you when it arrives. While this is super convenient, there is a fee for this service and it can be upwards of $100. So, if this is your plan, make sure to inquire about the boutique’s shipping and handling fees before you place your order. Chances are, it’s still cheaper than a plane ticket and a hotel, but it can take you off-guard if you’re not expecting it.

5. Bridal Accessories

Now, you can get as specific as you want with this line item. Some people count shoes and jewelry, but for our purposes, let’s just consider anything that you plan on purchasing at the bridal boutique at the time of your gown purchase. Your gown appointments are a beautiful blur of fine fabrics and glitzy accoutrements, so it’s easy not to realize that the delicate beaded sash that sold you on the gown adds another couple zeros to your final price. Pace yourself and don’t get too attached to any accessories until after you are sure you’ve found your gown, then, you’ll have a better idea of what is left in the budget.

6. Undergarments

Some wedding gowns have structure built-in, but some require a little extra help. Whether it’s a bustier/corset or some shapewear, you want to make sure that you set aside some of your gown budget to build that infrastructure. Now, this part of the budget is specific to the undergarments that you wear with your gown on the day of your wedding, not your wedding night lingerie, that is a different budget altogether.

An Unforgettable Evening with Dramatic Drapery, Rich Florals, and Romantic Ambiance

[field title=”The Inspiration”]

The vision for this event was to create an atmosphere that brought a sense of depth to a typically light, airy, and bright venue and aesthetic. We wanted something very dreamy and romantic, unlike anything we had seen before. Drapery was at the core of our vision, and how it would all come together after sunset would be the most important for us to capture. What we wanted didn’t quite exist yet; we couldn’t find a way to describe this vision of drapery enveloping a dinner in rows of gorgeous, perfect swoops. Ellen from On Q Productions nailed it and custom-built everything to create this gorgeous scene.

Cairnwood Estate, a very well-known venue outside of Philadelphia with a rich history, provided the perfect backdrop. The colors of the venue itself allow for a canvas that is easily adaptable, and its castlelike accents bring a sense of drama and luxury. We chose the terrace for the dinner vision because of its beautiful columned arches and untapped potential, as we had never seen the terrace used in this way before. It felt fresh and exciting. Cairnwood has hosted so many stunning events over the years, so doing something with an entirely fresh perspective felt perfect.

The Gigi gown, our ceremony portrait look, is made out of luminous satin. She supports a gorgeous scooped structured bodice and a wrapped cinched waistline design and the long skirt features a sexy slit and just the right amount of train. Lace up back for a perfect shapely fit. The reception gown brought some more flirty and fun energy with a feathered bodice and gorgeous a-line silhouette that is comfortable to dance the night away while maintaining an elevated dramatic look.

When creating the tablescape, we brought in deeper tones to elevate the venue’s neutral space. The velvet hunter-green linen grounded the tablescape, while the florals added texture and brought our color palette to life. Fluffy touches of soft peach, muted yellows, and deep burgundy pulled the color throughout our entrance moment and into our centerpieces. The asymmetrical floral installation framing the dinner scene added the perfect touch.

Of course, the drapery is the star of the show. I also loved how the floral installation created this unexpected moment outside of the terrace and framed the tablescape perfectly. The menu design and stationery by Christy at Paper Tree Studio also were absolutely stunning and a stand-out moment.

[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]

The lighting and the candle-lit energy are an absolute must. If you’re going to go all out on floral and drapery, it only makes sense to light them so those elements can shine. Pin spotting the foral and table made so much of a difference, so while all the beautiful dramatic elements make the vision, don’t forget to do it justice with professional lighting.

[field title=”DIY Moments”]

Not exactly a DIY moment but a special touch is we had a cafe on-site throughout the entire event with signature espresso & coffee drinks. Something I think would add such an extra touch to long wedding days for not only the bride and groom, and their VIPs but for guests as well.
