Playful Wedding in the Forest at House on Metolius

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Lavender, olive green, butter yellow, tangerine, red [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]We aimed to infuse the wedding design with vibrant colors and delightful surprises. The breathtaking ceremony unfolded beneath a modern oak chuppah meticulously handcrafted by their close friend and bridesmaid. Adorned with an asymmetrical, organic installation by Summer Robbins Flowers, the chuppah became a captivating focal point. Along the aisle, bursts of bright purple giant allium, fiery orange lilies, roses, spirea, and lush foliage evoked the enchanting forest surroundings.

As guests transitioned to the reception, they were welcomed into a space imbued with a light and contemporary ambiance. Throughout, touches of white enhanced the air of elegance, culminating in the striking presence of a sailcloth tent. Tables adorned with vibrant green plaid napkins and whimsical paper goods, complemented by gleaming silver accents, invited guests to partake in a celebration that was both refined and joyful.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Leo proposed during a hike in Port Townsend, WA – a place that is very special to us. We stopped in front of the Point Wilson lighthouse where he asked the question. Torrie’s mother makes jewelry in her spare time, and Leo had arranged for her to make a simple engagement ring. The ring featured a diamond that was used in Torrie’s grandma’s wedding ring. When she passed away, she passed the diamond down to Torrie. [/field]

Oysters on the half shell added a touch of coastal indulgence to the culinary experience.
As dinner commenced, guests were treated to a seed-to-table feast served family-style. The meal began with a refreshing shaved radish salad featuring frisée, mizithra cheese, seed brittle, and a drizzle of green goddess dressing, accented with a sprinkle of flake salt. Main courses included succulent pan-seared wild Pacific salmon and tender braised beef short ribs, accompanied by comforting sides such as wild mushroom risotto, roasted carrots with whipped feta & strawberries, and vibrant spring asparagus.

Torrie and Leo wanted their wedding cocktails to reflect their personalities and shared experiences. The Rhubarb Rye Julep honored Leo with rye whiskey, mint extract, and rhubarb shrub reminiscent of homemade pies and family traditions. Meanwhile, Torrie’s love for fresh flavors inspired the Strawberry Vodka Basil Smash, featuring vodka, strawberry shrub, and basil for a vibrant and refreshing concoction. These signature drinks celebrated their journey and the blending of their passions, creating a toast to love and laughter on their special day.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Torrie’s bouquet and Leo’s boutonniere highlighted the cool tones in their color palette which were soft blues, lavenders, and purple, while their attendants’ florals were in vibrant shades of orange. For reception, each table had locally-sourced, vibrant, seasonal florals in modern containers that reflected the whimsy and restrained elegance of the overall design. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]
Instead of the conventional wedding cake, Torrie & Leo delighted their guests with a delectable assortment of handmade pies sourced from their beloved local bakery in Portland. A Coastal Garden Wedding in Historic Port City

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Priscilla envisioned her wedding featuring a dreamy yet coastal chic color palette that would transport her guests to the streets of Charleston, all while keeping it complimentary to the historic city hall venue. The palette comprised of mixed metallics like gold and pewter enhanced with organic garden tones like soft blush and rich greens.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The bride and groom are rooted in the historic district of downtown Brunswick so they wanted their wedding to showcase the charm the area has to offer. Since the event was hosted in April, the bride made whimsical florals centerstage to her design concept, despite the classic indoor ceremony and reception. A fun pop of print faced the bar to tie together her invitation suite, and palm-beach decor was placed on almost any surface to keep the theme.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Priscilla’s husband Brandon works in wine, and this took the couple to New York City to attend “La Fête du Champagne,” a gala celebrating champagne houses and boutiques. New York boasts hundreds of Michelin-star restaurants; with the couple being lovers of food and wine, Brandon knew this was the perfect setting to begin the rest of his life with Priscilla. Brandon surprised Priscilla with an intimate dinner at Per Se, overlooking Central Park. Their 8-course dinner concluded with a silver platter presenting a bed of orchids, in which laid the engagement ring of Priscilla’s dreams.

Priscilla wanted her gown to be one of ethereal daydreams. From the Jenny Yoo collection at BHLDN, Priscilla chose a tulle A-line ball gown with delicate floral detailing on the structured bodice. To add a touch of modest elegance and whimsy, she commissioned organza puff sleeves. Tying everything together, her custom cathedral-length veil featured subtle floral appliqué at the hemline.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bride wanted to build upon the garden party theme of her reception
while inviting the bridesmaids to express themselves. Priscilla decided to have her bridesmaids
adorned with different dresses of pink, green, and florals incorporating both colors. This
provided both a lively pop of color to the venue and a nod to the coastal aesthetic.[/field]

Old City Hall serves as a stunning venue, with rich dark wood and iconic historical elements. This baseline aesthetic made it easy to enhance its charm with whimsical garden florals and gold accents. The bride chose to incorporate varying table linens, with solid colors and patterns across different tables, adding depth and visual interest to the reception space. She opted for custom pillows on the cocktail settee, curating the perfect scene for post-toast lounging. The bar was dressed in an iconic Thibaut fabric, the very same pattern incorporated in the envelope liner of the wedding invitations, tying the coastal and garden party aesthetics together.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]If there is one thing this bride knows, it is sweets. Priscilla wanted a classic and
timeless wedding cake. The couple chose a light and fluffy vanilla cake with a tangy and sweet
raspberry filling, a perfect match for the Côtes du Rhône wine they enjoyed that evening.[/field]

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Natascia and Adam’s wedding blended timeless elegance and fairytale magic beautifully, set in Newport, Rhode Island. It was a weekend filled with unforgettable moments and intricate details inspired by our deepest passions. As guests entered our fairytale world, they were transported to a realm where dreams met reality. Imagine a scene of regal opulence mixed with ethereal charm—delicate textiles, cascading florals, and soft candlelight. Each element was carefully chosen to evoke a sense of timeless romance, blending echoes of the past with contemporary allure. Our vows were exchanged at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, with an atmosphere of magic and reverence reminiscent of John F. and Jackie Kennedy’s historic union there in 1953. Later, we celebrated at the grand Rosecliff Mansion, adorned with blooms and greenery, creating an intimate, secret garden atmosphere within a historic gilded-age mansion. The bride exuded grace in a gown fit for royalty, complemented by multiple dress changes, adding enchantment to the evening. The groom epitomized sophistication in his classic black tuxedo. Together, we embodied a vision of timeless romance, capturing a love transcending time and space. Our guests enjoyed a royal culinary journey, with each course paying tribute to our favorite flavors, family recipes, and historical highlights—featuring dishes from the RMS Titanic dinner menu and whimsical food trucks to end the night with excitement. Every culinary masterpiece was crafted to tantalize the senses, from the first sip of champagne to the final dance under the stars.

Fashion played a pivotal role in our wedding, serving as a defining element of our celebration. Natasica’s attire was a testament to her exquisite taste and flair for style. She gracefully adorned herself in three distinct dresses throughout the day, complemented by accessories from renowned designers Cartier, Jimmy Choo, and Sophia Webster. Her journey down the aisle commenced in a magnificent ballgown by Sahar Fotouhi For Panache Atelier for Panache Atelier. It was resplendent with delicate embroidery and intricate beadwork, featuring a dramatic strapless neckline that exuded timeless elegance. Paired with a cathedral-length lace veil, it was a vision of bridal splendor. Following the ceremony, Natasica transitioned into her second gown by Bert, a stunning creation characterized by its long sleeves, plunging V-neckline, and exquisite lace embellishments adorned with crystal beading. With its alluring open back, this mermaid silhouette dress perfectly captured the essence of romance and sophistication. For the final outfit change, Natasica opted for a delightful twist with a fun white flapper-style dress from Jovani. This dress paid homage to the iconic film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby,” which is significant as it was filmed at our wedding venue. This playful yet elegant ensemble added a touch of whimsy to the festivities, creating an unforgettable moment. In a delightful surprise, the bridesmaids and mother of the bride joined Natasica in embracing the flapper aesthetic, donning their own chic flapper dresses to accompany her in style. Together, they epitomized the spirit of the roaring twenties, infusing the celebration with a sense of vintage charm and joie de vivre that enchanted all present.

Natascia and Adam, both first-generation American-Italians and self-proclaimed foodies, knew that exceptional cuisine was an absolute priority for their wedding day. With a nod to their Italian heritage and love for all things culinary, they curated a culinary experience that delighted the senses and reflected their unique tastes. Partnering with Blackstone Catering, guests were treated to an array of delectable offerings, including pasta stations, antipasto platters, and a fresh Rhode Island raw bar—each dish a celebration of flavor and tradition. A highlight of the evening was the meticulously crafted bar menu featuring three signature drinks that captured the essence of their heritage, favorite movies, and beloved pets. From the refreshing Sicilian Ragdoll to the bold Heart of the Ocean and the indulgent Snippy Snickers, each cocktail was a masterpiece, complete with monogram-branded citrus peels adding a personal touch. Natascia and Adam added a heartfelt touch by incorporating cherished family recipes, including Noni’s Ricotta Cake, a beloved ode to Natascia’s grandmother. As dessert took center stage, in addition to an entire room dedicated to various desserts, guests were invited to indulge in a sweet interlude outdoors with A La Mode, a nut-free ice cream truck from NYC. This thoughtful addition catered to Natascia’s allergy and delighted everyone with its irresistibly delicious treats. The culinary journey continued with a pizza truck from A Mano, satisfying cravings with authentic wood-fired pies, and a Poffertjes station serving one of their favorite desserts. And because no celebration is complete without a late-night treat, guests enjoyed a savory surprise with late-night fare from Chick-fil-A, ensuring that the festivities ended on a delicious note. From traditional Italian flavors to inventive culinary delights, Natascia and Adam’s wedding feast was a true reflection of their heritage, their passion for food, and their commitment to creating an unforgettable experience for all who shared in their special day.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The floral design of Natascia and Adam’s wedding was a breathtaking symphony of lush romance. It incorporated an array of exquisite blooms such as roses, hydrangeas, and orchids—the latter being a touching homage to Natascia’s grandmother, who held a particular fondness for these delicate flowers. Vibrant greenery added a lush, natural element to the design, evoking a sense of timeless elegance and enchantment. Throughout the venue, guests were treated to stunning displays of floral artistry from The Wild Dahlia. From raised floral columns adorned with cascading candlelight to elaborate floral runners that adorned the tables, every detail exuded luxury and sophistication. The sweetheart table was decorated with a magnificent hanging installation, ensuring the couple was enveloped in blooms from every angle, creating a romantic oasis amidst the celebration. Florals also took center stage during cocktail hour, when guests were greeted by a magnificent floral wall boasting over 3,000 live blooms—a stunning photo backdrop. The antique Rolls Royce getaway car was adorned with a lavish floral bumper, adding a whimsy and romance to the grand exit. Cascading greenery climbed the columns of Rosecliff Mansion‘s historic marble terrace and grand staircase, lending an air of timeless beauty to the surroundings. From the ceremony’s grandeur to the reception’s intimacy, the floral design elevated every moment, creating a truly unforgettable ambiance of elegance and romance. Another integral component of the overall design was the meticulous selection of linens from BBJ La Tavola, which added a layer of elegance and sophistication to the tablescape. Blush velvets, delicate sequined floral linens, and textiles threaded with gold adorned the tables, creating a sumptuous backdrop for the celebration. Details and Swirls added a personalized touch to the venue with stunning hand-lettered ornate antique mirrors, which served as focal points throughout the space. The seating chart, table numbers, and mirrors adorned with quotes from the couple’s beloved films, such as Titanic and The Notebook, infuse the atmosphere with a sense of romance and nostalgia. These thoughtful accents added depth and character to the décor, ensuring every design element reflected the couple’s unique style and love story.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

The wedding showcased a stunningly crafted wedding cake by Confectionery Designs, a true masterpiece adorned with intricate sugar florals that seamlessly complemented the ballroom’s elegant décor. Resting upon a bed of natural florals that mirrored the sugar blooms so closely, distinguishing between the two became a delightful challenge. A personalized touch was added with a sugar monogram that mirrored the custom monogram from Cartalia, tying the design together with exquisite detail. Guests were also treated to a delectable tres leches cake from Uptown, a cherished bakery in Natascia’s hometown of Connecticut. This decadent dessert added a nostalgic touch to the celebration, inviting guests to indulge in a taste of tradition and homegrown sweetness. Together, these confections elevated the culinary experience, ensuring that every moment of the celebration was as delicious as it was memorable.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

SpeechLess Music curated the musical journey of our wedding reception, beginning with the elegant sounds of a string quartet during cocktail hour, transitioning seamlessly to the vibrant energy of a live band for dinner and dancing, and culminating in a spirited nightcap with an eclectic DJ set. Recognizing our guests’ diverse backgrounds and tastes, it was paramount to select Music that would resonate with everyone, regardless of culture or generation. The bands masterfully performed an eclectic repertoire, with a special nod to Italian Music to honor Natascia and Adam’s heritage and delight their families. From timeless classics to contemporary hits, the Music wove a tapestry of joy and celebration, ensuring that every evening moment was filled with unforgettable melodies and infectious rhythms.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

After their church ceremony, Natascia and Adam took a magical horse-and-carry ride to Rosecliff Mansion. The carriage was adorned with flowers and fit for a princess. They had 20 precious minutes of solitude to savor the moment’s significance before the festivities resumed. It was an absolute fairytale moment that captured the romance and splendor of their special day timelessly and unforgettably.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The European designer Cartalia artfully created Natascia and Adam’s invitation and stationery design. The invitation suite was meticulously designed to replicate the intricate iron gates of the famed Rosecliff Mansion, featuring incredible die-cut paper details. The invite included a hand-drawn map showcasing important Newport landmarks for the weekend events, complemented by romantic calligraphy and ornate floral and flourished details reminiscent of the Gilded Age theme. The color palette of the paper encompassed shades of ivory, mauve, blush, and gold, an embossed mirror token, a velvet hard cover folder, and a custom-made shipping box for each suite. This cohesive design extended to the day-of-paper elements, including guest menus and detail signs.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

Another delightful highlight of the day was the presence of a live painter, Ben Keys Fine Art, who traveled from Charleston, SC, to capture the essence of our reception space and first dance in real-time. This bespoke touch transformed our celebration into a truly unique and luxurious experience for our guests, allowing them to witness the creation of a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. The live painting provided a captivating focal point and an interactive display, inviting guests to engage with the creative process and leave their mark on our cherished memories. As the brushstrokes immortalized our special moments on canvas, we knew that this artwork would stand as a timeless family heirloom, preserving the magic of our wedding day for generations to come.

A Wedding Planner’s Classic And Timeless Wedding With Subtle Stripe Detailing

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Green, white, light blue, and pink.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

As a professional wedding planner, I have seen it all! I wanted my wedding to be classy and elegant with a reception that reflected my personal style (without overdoing it). I wasn’t as worried about every corner having something going on, instead I wanted to showcase smaller details that felt special and unique to me. For instance, I love stripes, so I had a blue, green, and white painted dance floor. I also incorporated subtle stripes into our invitation suite. I’m very particular about color, so I chose custom paint colors for the bars that I designed for our reception. I wanted to make sure the dining room looked utterly warm, inviting, and classic and yet unlike any other that I had designed before for my clients. My top priorities were creating a reception space that was pretty and also comfortable for all my guests. As an event planner, I believe you should never have a sea of rounds in a space. Instead, I wanted to incorporate various types of seating: including banquette wall seating, longs, and rounds with different linen patterns and napkin designs to give dimension to the room and make each table feel unique.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

We love to travel as a couple. While we were on a family vacation in Aspen with William’s family, he proposed to us on the top of Aspen Mountain! Right after the proposal, I found out that my whole family had traveled there as well, so we could all celebrate the moment together. We had an incredible trip that I’ll never forget.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

All I knew going into the process was that I wanted a slim, fitted silhouette. After trying on many options at Warren Barrón Bridal in Dallas, it came down to two gowns. Ultimately, I ended up choosing a Monique Lhuillier because it felt more classic and timeless. My gown had a removable Watteau train off the back that photographed beautifully and made for a dramatic walk down the aisle. The shoulder straps on my gown were also removable. I took them off at the reception to give my arms more range of motion for dancing. Speaking of dancing, I knew I wanted a second short white dress as well. I picked out a strapless Safiyaa mini-dress with a fun feather hem. As much as I loved my wedding gown, changing into something shorter midway through the dancing felt great. My best friend helped me change, and we came out wearing costume wigs (mine in pink) for the reveal. As we entered the reception, a variety of crazy wigs were handed out, along with fun sunglasses. Our guests loved it! Everyone has more fun with a wig on! My “something blue” was a pair of diamond and sapphire earrings by our family jeweler, Genovese Jewelers. And my “something borrowed” was a diamond necklace and bracelet set from my mother, also by Genovese. For the rehearsal dinner, I also wanted the green color scheme to kick off the weekend. I found an incredible green and white floral satin gown by Rodarte that had a high neckline and a cape off the back. When I saw it, I knew it would be the perfect dress for my rehearsal dinner. I paired it with some gorgeous diamond and emerald hoop earrings from Genovese Jewelers. My sister and best friend (my two matrons of honor) also wore green dresses that night.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

I didn’t want a huge wedding party, so I chose to have just my sister and my best friend as my bridesmaids/Matrons of Honor. I picked a full-length statement dress in green and white floral from Emilia Wickstead, a designer I love. I wanted my bridesmaids to feel beautiful, special, and comfortable. The dress not only matched the wedding colors but also provided a timeless and elegant look that my bridesmaids could potentially wear again for other formal occasions. We had three precious flower girls at the wedding party, including my goddaughter and William’s two nieces. They wore white batiste cotton dresses by Pieces by Tam. I loved the old-fashioned styling with delicate French lace and ribbons. They had so much fun twirling and dancing in their fancy dresses!

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

Our wedding’s dress code was black-tie so all the male guests wore tuxes. William wore a midnight blue tuxedo with a black satin lapel and a black tie.

We passed Texas ranch waters to guests on arrival as a nod to William’s Texas roots. We chose not to have signature drinks because, as a wedding planner, I always see guests only take a few sips before heading to the bar to get what they actually want to drink. We hosted a full bar so our guests could order any cocktail that they enjoyed! Our reception was held at my hometown country club where I grew up going with my family, Old Warson Country Club. We hosted a seated dinner, starting with my favorite — tomato and mozzarella salad. Our entrée was a short rib and shrimp. When it was time to dance with my favorite wedding band, Jessie’s Girls, we passed espresso martinis for a caffeine kick.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

As a professional event planner, I knew what vendors I wanted to work with for our wedding. I felt so honored to have jackson durham at the helm of the floral design. I knew they would understand my vision and execute everything with beauty and taste. We kept things very classic and all white for the ceremony and my personal flowers. But for the reception, Jackson Durham infused the design with bright pinks and coral tones which looked beautiful set against the linens in green, white, and light blue. Another special detail was how they used a variety of containers for the flowers on each table, including silver trays and vintage silver vases in different styles and sizes. Combined with the various different linens, each table had its own look, and the overall look had a personalized, home wedding feel.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]I didn’t want a traditional wedding cake so we went with a pale green tiered cake with sugar flowers. We had a white-on-white cake with raspberry filling and delicious cream cheese icing. We toasted our cake cutting with champagne in two large sterling goblets that belong to my family and have been used at many other family weddings. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Our first dance was set to “All Your’n” by Tyler Childress. William nailed the dip at the end. It was such a celebratory moment! We were so ready to party! We were honored to have Jessie’s Girls, one of my very favorite bands, play for three hours solid.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

As a wedding planner, I know how important it is to have the best photography. After all that planning, you want to have the pictures to remember it all by. Liz Banfield is one of my all-time favorite vendors in the wedding industry! I’ve worked with her many times professionally and have come to rely on her ability to make everyone feel at ease and comfortable. Liz’s ability to capture the genuine personality of each client is a testament to her skill and dedication to her craft. Liz was not only our wedding photographer but someone we will always call our friend!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

My dad surprised me with a fireworks display midway through the reception. Having fireworks was so special and something I had always wanted. William and I watched in awe with all our guests from the lawn next to our tent. Since I was doing double duty as bride and wedding planner, I still can’t believe my dad was able to pull off the surprise without me knowing.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

The printed invitation suite by Carly Creative Co was an absolute dream, setting the tone for the whole event. Like the whole wedding, it was classic and yet unique and personalized. She even managed to include stripes, my favorite. Carly is one of my top invitation designers for my clients, and it was fun to be the bride in the creative process. At the end of the night, we sent guests home with extra wedding cake beautifully boxed up. As a rule, I think wedding favors can often be a waste of money, but everyone loves a little sweet snack for later. I’ve seen a lot of exit cars in my days as a wedding planner so I wanted something a little different. Following a celebratory exit with a colorful confetti bomb, we took off in bight blue Moke America golf cart. We didn’t have to drive far to my parent’s house, where we hosted the after-party late (late!) into the night.

Here’s Proof That Modern and Romantic Styles Are the Perfect Marriage

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Neutrals, Black, Ivory, Gold[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]The overall design of the day was timeless and romantic with modern touches. Leaning into the beauty of Viansa we chose a neutral color palette of greens, whites and creams with touches of gold and black in the signage and rental pieces. We ultimately wanted the focus of the day to be on the marriage of Allie and Chris and gathering all of their favorite people in one place to celebrate them.

From the very start, Allie and Chris put their faith in us and trusted our process – from our design deck, to our vendor recommendations, we were able to create magic together, ensuring all of the little details were unique to the two of them.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Chris proposed to Allie on New Year’s Eve on the beautiful bluffs in Santa Barbara, CA – the city she went to college in. Chris made a wooden arch with huge bouquets of flowers to add to the gorgeous ocean views. Allie was so oblivious that the proposal was about to happen that when she saw the set-up, she thought to herself “Awww how sweet, someone must have just gotten engaged here today”, but it turned out to be for her! He asked and of course she said yes! They celebrated with champagne and brunch on the beach. Lots of happy tears were shed and they were so excited to start thinking about wedding planning.[/field]

She loved the removable sleeves, corset boning style top and hidden leg slit. As a sweet detail, she kept some of the extra fabric after alterations to cut into bows as a part of her bridesmaid gifts that she gave her ladies at the rehearsal dinner![/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Allie opted to have all of her ladies in satin taupe dresses from Birdy Grey, each one wearing a different style.[/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]We worked with the team at Park Avenue Catering to create the perfect summer menu for Allie and Chris’ guests. They were welcomed into cocktail hour with fresh bites like watermelon gazpacho and grilled peach-tomato bruschetta. Around the dinner table they had the choice of a bistro filet or lemon-oregano roasted chicken breast, both accompanied by roasted fingerling potatoes, baby green beans and carrots. While they were dancing, in addition to the dessert table, guests enjoyed late night pizzas which Park Ave’s team fired up in the pizza oven on-site at Viansa.

At the bar guests had their choice of three specialty cocktails – his, hers and theirs. Chris’ drink of choice was an Old Fashioned, Allie’s was a Hugo Spritz and together theirs was a Spicy Margarita. While these were flowing all night, guests were also able to enjoy beer on tap from Allie’s families brewery. And of course we can’t forget to mention the amazing wine from Viansa![/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]For florals, we worked with Emily of Flower Girl Em to create the most lush, organic florals for this day, of course allowing her to be the expert and create the magic that she always does! The palette and overall feel was modern with romantic touches. The color palette being tones of soft white, cream and neutral sand with touches of
greenery. The florals felt airy & garden inspired, reflecting the late summer
season. Some of the floral choices included garden roses, ranunculus, dahlias, lisianthus, phlox, scabiosa and tweedia with seasonal greenery.

At the outdoor ceremony we opted for alter ground arrangements to give the look of florals growing organically from the ground and to not take away from the view of the Sonoma hills. We also love the dual purpose that these serve in being able to move them to the reception space and give them more life! Placing them in areas like the head table, cake table and DJ booth.

For dinner, guests were seated at rows of farm tables decorated with a mix of bud vases and taper candles of varying heights and shapes, this is a beautiful way to add movement and dimension to the tables.

The rentals we selected were all from Encore Event Rentals. Guests were seated at wood farm tables and bistro chairs and enjoyed their food and drinks using pieces like Gramercy Flatware, Terra Linen Plates and Cosmopolitan Glasses.

From the invitations to the dinner menus, all of the paper goods and wedding day signage was created by Courtnee of Shimmer & Stain. We used modern fonts and lots of different textures in all of their pieces – gold foil on the invitations, smoked acrylic on the seating chart and fluted box stands for the bar menu. Their monogram was a piece that was carried throughout each piece – it was in their QR code on their details card in their invitation suite, on the base of their beer tap wall, and in the wax seal on their menus.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Their wedding cake was a two tier cake from Susie Cakes, one tier being red velvet and the other carrot cake. In addition to this, guests enjoyed mini chocolate chip cookies from Susie Cakes, an assortment of bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes and mini cheesecakes from Park Avenue Catering. There was no shortage on sweets![/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Allie and Chris asked two of Allie’s brothers to officiate their ceremony and it was the sweetest thing ever! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]When we learned that Allie’s family owns a brewery in Oregon, we knew we had to incorporate this detail into their day. We worked with Courtnee at Shimmer and Stain to create a self-serve tap wall for guests to enjoy three of the beers on tap. To make things even more special, her brothers created a custom mixed culture beer for Allie and Chris. They named it ‘Lot K’ which is the parking lot at the Rose Bowl where Allie and Chris first met at a tailgate. [/field]

10 Things That Will Likely Go Wrong While Wedding Planning and How to Handle It

There’s a certain nineties song that talks about “raaa-iii-aayyy-n on your wedding day” (you totally just sang that in your head, didn’t you?). While Alanis Morissette meant it metaphorically, the truth is, it happens. Weddings are vulnerable to all sorts of problems—and rain is sometimes the least of them. The good news? Most problems show up during the planning process, and very often they are 100% preventable. You’ll be even better prepared after reading this: 10 things that are very likely to go wrong while wedding planning, and how to handle it all with grace.

Photography: Jose Villa

1. Committing Too Soon

So, you’re riding that newly-engaged high, and you can’t wait to start planning, book a venue, and announce your date. It’s natural to want to make decisions right away, but this is the very moment you can’t afford to rush. Your aesthetic is revealed over time, as you become familiar with the planning process and discover your creative voice. You could book an industrial venue right away, only to find that you really love the idea of an estate wedding with garden florals and cocktails on the lawn.  In order to avoid problems like these, Becca of Rebecca Rose Events urges brides and grooms to hire a capable planning team first:

“We often wish brides and grooms would ask ‘what should we do first, or next?’ The reality is that many people dive in to planning a little too quickly. They make decisions and/or hire vendors even before they’ve hired their planning team and have committed themselves legally and financially to services and/or products that may not really be the best fit for them. It’s imperative that all decisions be in sync with a comprehensive master budget and an overall guiding vision. Sadly, we often have to turn prospective clients away if they’ve already done too much before they approached us about our services, because they have made mistakes that we may not be able to undo.”

2. Hiring A Vendor Based Solely Off of Their Instagram Presence

Instagram and Pinterest are wonderful places to find vendors and inspiration, but don’t let them be your only resources. As you search for vendors, understand that social media can only reveal a very limited—and curated– glimpse of how a vendor approaches an actual wedding day. Most wedding services are very visual, but a beautiful picture isn’t enough to determine your ideal creative fit. Mallory of Mallory Dawn Photography encourages her clients to look beyond social when choosing a wedding photographer:

“I am always happy to share full galleries with my clients… Instagram and websites only show the best of the best and you really want to see how your photographer approaches and captures an entire wedding day start-to-finish. I always tell my friends that are getting married to ask this when inquiring with photographers.”

3. Family Matters

When you announce your plans to marry, you may find yourself navigating some complex and sensitive family dynamics. Maybe your family has been gracious enough to lend financial help, but that gift may come with expectations. Unfortunately, some family members will equate money with power or a say in your wedding decisions. You can feel, little by little, that you are losing your voice, and more and more that it is your job to keep the peace. “Weddings bring out lots of different emotions and everyone handles them differently,” empathizes Mallory of Mallory Dawn Photography. “I see lots of family members making comments that stress out the bride or groom and everyone handles them differently.”

In any event, it’s time to reclaim what is yours—your voice. “It is important to set boundaries with your family and friends… as hard as that can be,” says Mallory. But boundary- setting need not be painful or ungentle. Be thoughtful but clear as you address family members with simple statements like “We have decided together that…” It’s excellent practice for those times when you’ll need to announce your Christmas plans, i.e. “We have decided as a family to spend this Christmas in the mountains, even though we really appreciate your offer to host again this year.”

4. Overspent

During the planning process, most brides and grooms will encounter vendors’ services for the first time; it’s only natural that they would be unfamiliar with costs. “It’s common for prospective clients to lack an understanding of how much time and effort is involved in planning, designing, and producing a wedding,” says Becca of Rebecca Rose Events.

“To prevent undue stress,” counsels Betsy of Rebecca Rose Events, “itemize your wish list in chronological order at the very beginning and make your budget expectations crystal clear. Prioritize the things at the top and be prepared to sacrifice or revise some items at the bottom of the list, so as to not spend outside your comfort zone.” No matter the scope and scale of our wedding, few of us can afford to make every service a priority. But we can splurge on the things we love the most—exquisite florals, aspects of guest experience, or a haute couture gown (we see you, Ines di Santo!).

5. A Huge Guest List

On that note, if you are looking to keep your budget realistic, then your guest list is the first place you will need to look. “The single most impactful factor in a wedding budget is the number of invited guests,” states Betsy of Rebecca Rose Events. “Each person has a significant cost associated with them – from the invitations, to the china, glassware, flatware, meal, beverages, and the list goes on.” But editing a guest list is problematic in and of itself. How do you leave guests off in a tactful way? Betsy has the following litmus test for guest list inclusion:

“Our advice is carefully consider the list and ask yourself a few questions. Would you invite this person to your home for a backyard barbecue seven years from now? Would you treat this person to an evening out and spend over $1,000 on them?” If the answer to either question is ‘no,’ then gently reconsider. In the end, your event will feel more intimate and meaningful, and your budget will thank you. (And if you still need help deciding who makes the guest list, check out SMP’s advice here, here, and here!).

6. Little Arguments

When you go out for a date or get off of work, it’s natural to slip into wedding talk with your fiancé. That last e-mail! The rental company’s chair shortage! That cryptic text from your mother! You may find that all of your conversations start to follow this pattern. Little fights and tearful misunderstandings are almost inevitable.

In order to keep the wedding in its rightful place, set aside designated times for wedding planning. Be focused and clear about your goals for that hour or that evening. Divide and conquer your inbox. Make decisions together, and know that this is excellent premarital practice for difficult tasks you will face later on. And as much as you possibly can, leave your wedding in the capable hands of your planners and vendors. That trust will free up so much time and energy, that you can then spend on enjoying your engagement.

And remember– take your free nights! Dress up, go out, laugh together, and leave thoughts of the wedding completely behind. You’ll nurture your relationship and everything else will benefit from that. Because it’s true, what they say– the more in love you are, the less dire the possibility of melted buttercream will seem.

7. Timeline Issues

When creating a wedding day timeline, be mindful of your photographer’s requests. Your photographer approaches your wedding as both artist and planner, balancing your schedule with the demands of light and time. If you want your wedding photos to have that golden hour glow, plan around your photography timeline—and share that timeline in advance with other vendors and family members!

“I really try my best to educate my couples on natural light and how it can be tricky to work with sometimes because in many ways it can be unpredictable,” counsels Mallory of Mallory Dawn Photography. “I usually block out 30-45 minutes on a wedding day for the couple’s romantic portraits right around golden hour. And sometimes this gets shortened if the wedding starts to fall behind. This can be due to family members not being present during family portraits or multiple other reasons. I think my advice would be to trust your photographer when it comes to timeline and dealing with light… couples need to be flexible and really ask questions early on about the best timing for wedding day events when it comes to lighting.”

All of your vendors will have similar timelines, and in order to have a seamless wedding day, it’s imperative to follow them!

8. Failing to Make a Beautiful Plan B

Remember that whole thing about rain on your wedding day (or were you trying to forget…)? No one wants to consider the possibility of rain– or any other kind of inclement weather– on her wedding day, and many brides, in an effort to remain optimistic, will refuse to entertain the possibility. Sunshine and birdsong it will be! But “planning the day as if that’s the only way it could happen is a huge mistake. It is imperative to have a weather backup plan for any wedding or special events,” states Betsy of Rebecca Rose Events.

Instead, consider weather from every angle, and, with the help of your planners and designers, create a gorgeous plan B. Allow your florist to implement creative ideas for an interior space, perhaps creating a canopy of flowers to hang above the head table, or a stunning mantel installation. Begin to envision and embrace the idea of a room full of crystal, flora, and fireside. Make friends with the Sperry tent. Above all, make the alternate plan inviting, so that you begin to associate it with feelings of artistry and love. When you are as excited over plan B as you are for your primary plan, no act of weather will unmoor you. You’ll just move serenely to a space that you have already addressed—and maybe even wished for. “It’s not enough to develop a logistical weather plan,” admits Betsy of Rebecca Rose Events. “You need to truly prepare your mind and heart for inclement weather too, so that you’re every bit as comfortable with plan B as you are with plan A.”

And take solace in the fact anything unexpected—even rain—can be a blessing in disguise. Things may not be as we imagined them; they may indeed be better. Mallory of Mallory Dawn Photography can attest to this:

“I have an example from my own wedding day,” offers Mallory. “We were supposed to have our cocktail hour outside in the beautiful California sunshine, however, it started pouring the day of our wedding, so we had to move it indoors. We never thought it would rain in April in California so this never even crossed our minds. It actually ended up being so wonderful and our guests still talk about now nice of an atmosphere it was. The room they brought our guests into had a full bar and a fireplace in the center of the room which was so cozy and intimate. Our guests really got to connect with one another in the smaller space while staying dry from the weather outside. They chatted and mingled by the fireplace and it is something our guests still rave about to this day!”

9.  Destinations Can Be Difficult

“Destination weddings require an exceptionally high aptitude for event logistics,” notes Becca of Rebecca Rose Events. In fact, destination weddings are so complex that they deserve an entire category unto themselves—it’s not one thing that could go wrong but a complex cocktail of destination-specific things. “Our team has spent years honing and improving our destination wedding planning and production process… so much so that it’s hard to even imagine a family tackling such a significant task on their own, without solid professional guidance,” admits Becca, before listing some of the possible complications (or, at best, considerations) when planning a destination affair:

“Every wedding requires careful research and due diligence, but destination projects really up the ante. For example, it’s important to become knowledgeable about local laws and ordinances, customs requirements, taxes, what resources do (or do not!) exist nearby, transportation options, guest accommodations, licenses that may be required for certain services, cultural sensitivities, possible language barriers, etc. Even if the destination is not an international one, there are many important considerations that need to be taken into account.”

So whether you’re planning that gorgeous Vail mountain wedding or Tuscan retreat, hire a dream wedding planning team who is capable of handling the high demands of destination planning. You’d rather have an itinerary full of things like après ski or vineyard walk than rescuing flower shipments from the customs department and delivering event chairs to the accessible-by-foot-only waterfront property.

10. Things Feel Different Than You Thought They Would

Maybe you’ve always dreamed of carrying peonies in your bouquet, but you just miss peony season. Maybe, instead, you’ve had your heart set on a winter wedding, but a family circumstance compels you to move your date up. Or you’ve always pictured your best friend standing by your side as maid of honor, but the two of you have drifted. If, as you wedding plan, you are married to things being a certain way, you are almost bound to experience some heartbreak. And that heartbreak shouldn’t be discounted—it is hard when things just aren’t turning out as we envisioned they would.

“I feel like my creativity as an event designer often flourishes most when I have to work through a problem,” muses Becca of Rebecca Rose Events. And in the end, it’s true. The more that all of us– designers, planners, brides and grooms alike– loosen our grip on things, the more room we make for elements of artistry and surprise. Allow yourself to relax and trust in a process that may lead to unexpected graces.

Photography: Mallory Dawn

11. Parting Words

In all likelihood, your vendors will be extremely professional and devoted, and any problems come up will be the unavoidable sort.

“We over-communicate and organize every little detail, so I find when something goes wrong, it tends to be beyond the control of proper planning and preparation,” reflects Callista of Callista & Company. “My biggest piece of advice is to surround yourself with a quality wedding day team, so if anything goes awry, you have a dedicated, creative, and responsible group of people there to turn things around. Utilize the long-standing relationships your planner has to offer. Great vendors step up beyond their contracted roles, arrive early and stay late, and go above and beyond to ensure your expectations are exceeded, no matter the circumstances.”

In the end, know that any of these problems may just be the setbacks from which you experience your deepest joy. Trust your dream team– and watch as that trust translates into resourcefulness, creativity, and beautiful design.

A Vibrant Colored Summer Wedding on Sea Island

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Yellow, pink, coral, orange, and green.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The wedding design and inspiration was a combination of a classic beachy summer gathering and a sophisticated dinner party. There is nothing I love more than hosting a fun dinner party. And my mom, who took the lead on the design, is known for hosting a fabulous party with stunning tablescapes. We wanted to combine all of these elements to host a reception that was equal parts fun and beautiful. My mom and I both love color and decided on late summer vibrant flowers in pinks, oranges, and yellows, but we also wanted to honor the classic “Sea Island green” with lots of greenery and palms. We worked with Inslee to design the paper artwork and accents for the weekend, and she perfectly incorporated the vibrant floral hues and palms. A local florist on the island, vine garden market, used our piles and piles of inspiration to design floral arrangements and the tent of our dreams. We also incorporated woven baskets throughout the printed materials and the reception design, which included dozens of hanging basket lanterns on the tent ceiling. Kellie Ryan Designs was so helpful organizing my mom and I throughout the design and planning process and managing all of the wedding day logistics. She kept us on track when our imaginations ran wild, was always calm, and was so pleasant to work with! Danny and I wanted to enjoy our (very large) families and groups of friends, allowing everyone to experience Sea Island for the magical place that it is. I enjoyed every minute of the reception but mostly looking around and seeing all of our favorite people from all parts of life in our favorite place. It is hard to describe the feeling, but one that I know probably won’t happen again. I tried to pause and look around and take it all in as often as possible. But we were so lucky that our incredible photographer, Liz Banfield, captured it all beautifully for us to remember.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

We were in Southampton with my family for a weekend in July and my parents and all of my siblings were in town for the weekend. Danny knew how hard it was to get my family all in one place with one sister leaving to study abroad a few weeks later. He worked with my mom and sisters to craft a plan – after playing golf in the morning with my brother as a distraction they met the rest of my family on the beach for an afternoon of lounging and hanging out. I was oblivious, napping and reading all afternoon. Finally, late in the afternoon, after he asked (a few too many times) to go on a beach walk, I finally agreed, suspecting something might be up. We walked down the beach away from the bustle of Cooper’s Beach, and he got down on one knee on a quiet stretch of the beach. Little did I know that he and my sister had recruited some onlookers to follow us and take pictures from afar. We had a moment to enjoy ourselves and Facetime Danny’s family and then walked back to celebrate on the beach with my family. Some of my cousins were on the beach nearby and walked by right after we began celebrating, which was such a serendipitous addition to the special day.

I ended up working with the team at Markarian to customize my dress. My mom, sisters, and I went to a number of bridal boutiques and stores throughout NYC and our hometown of Raleigh. I live in New York City, and I loved the idea of working with a local NYC designer. Ultimately, the dress I chose was a variation of the first dress I tried on during my first dress appointment at Markarian. I knew August in South Georgia was going to be HOT, so I didn’t want anything too big or heavy – I wanted to embrace the beachy vibe. I didn’t want to wear anything I had seen before while still wanting the dress to be timeless and elegant. I ended up piecing together two different dresses I tried on at the Markarian showroom, and they worked with me to create the classic, streamlined, yet unique dress I had dreamed of. We had to use a lot of imagination when ordering the dress, and the first time I tried on the actual dress was at my first fitting. I was so nervous for that first fitting, hoping that the dress would look the way I had imagined – and it ended up being so much more! Before I had even found my dress, my mom came across Monvieve veils, and we became obsessed. Once I decided on my dress and the simple fabric, I knew I wanted a touch of lace on the veil, so I worked with the designer at Monvieve to combine a beautiful French lace from Caudry, fully cut and sewn by hand in the Monvieve factory in Italy I knew I wanted a blusher to walk down the aisle with my dad – I have always loved the traditional look and because Danny and I would not see each other until the moment I walked down the aisle. I knew the veil would play a big part of that moment. It was cathedral length and flowed perfectly in the wind after the ceremony during our photos and cocktail hour. For jewelry, I borrowed my paternal grandmother’s pearl and diamond earrings from my aunt for the wedding day and wore an Aquamarine ring given to me by my maternal grandmother as my “something blue.” My cousin who is also a jewelry designer, Diana Mitchell Designs, reset the ring into a more modern setting. I also wore a gold and diamond bracelet that Danny dropped off at my parents’ house on the morning of the wedding. As much as I adored my wedding gown, I loved changing into a second dancing dress by Simkhai. I loved how it floated when I danced – which Liz caught perfectly on film. When I found this dress, I was excited because it was simple enough not to take away from my wedding gown, but the streamers added an unexpected flare. I chose to wear white for the whole weekend. For the rehearsal dinner, I wore a maxi by Elie Saab.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]My sisters and sisters in law, who stood at the altar with us, all wore yellow dresses. My sisters (both Maid of Honors) wore matching yellow linen dresses from Zimmermann that they each customized a bit to reflect their own personal style. My two sisters-in-law both wore yellow dresses they picked out for themselves.

We are both so lucky to have so many amazing friends so we had a very large bridal party who did not stand at the altar. I sent the bridal party (15 women in addition to our sisters) a few pictures of our floral inspiration with the vibrant pinks, oranges and yellows and let them run with it from there. They completely understood the assignment and all of the dresses ended up working so well all together while still reflecting their (all fabulous!) personal styles.
[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The men wore black tuxes of their choice. Danny’s family friend gave him and the groomsmen (his brother best man, brother-in-law and my brother) a four leaf clover pin on the wedding morning. They all wore these pinned to their lapel too.

Danny wore a custom Peter Millar tux. I gifted him a mother of pearl and onyx stud set he wore with it. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

We opted not to do a salad or appetizer course because we had a long cocktail hour full of heavy hors d’oeuvres (coastal classics including shrimp and grits and a raw bar). We knew people would be ready to get the party started by dinner time! When everyone sat down, there were breadbaskets on the tables filled with famous Sea Island mini corn muffins. The dinner was a surf & turf combination of a petite beef filet with bordelaise sauce and a Chilean sea bass with lemon beurre blanc. For late-night snacks, we served pimento grilled cheese sandwiches. After dancing all night to the Atlanta Showstoppers, we handed out trays of Chick-fil-A sandwiches right before making our final exit for the night. Danny is from Michigan and his family has deep Michigan roots. Although our wedding was taking place in Georgia, I wanted to give a nod to his Michigan upbringing. He loves Labatt Blue beer, a Detroit favorite but generally hard to find in the South. We were able to special order the beer through Ocean Forest and surprised Danny with it being the “signature drink” at the wedding.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

My mom has a special knack for florals and fauna. She was the creative lead on all things relating to the floral design (along with just about everything else!). She hung a basket on my chair at the reception filled with greenery and colorful flowers. It was such a special thoughtful touch and as soon as I sat down I knew she was the one who had made that happen.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Our wedding cake was made by the Sea Island pastry chef. We described the basket and flower theme from our wedding and she decorated all four tiers with a basket weave icing adorned with fresh flowers in our bright color scheme. We had two flavors. The first was infused with Limoncello and included a creamy lemon filling (my favorite!). We also served a vanilla Genoise cake with coconut buttercream (Danny’s favorite!).

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Atlanta Showstoppers are known for ending the night by playing “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and calling the bride and groom on stage for the last song. This was a highlight because we were able to look from the stage above at all of our loved ones enjoying the last minutes of the reception.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

We loved the illustrations created for our printed materials by Inslee, which included the basket and flowers motif as well as a fishing rod and golf club, nods to Danny’s favorite pastimes. We wanted to use them in other personalized details as well. Our florist Kelly Revels from vine garden market had the idea to put the palm illustration, originally used in our envelope liner, blown up in size and placed as a large mural on the front of the bar. Kelly worked directly with the artist, Inslee Farris, to create these custom panels. We also used Inslee’s illustrations to customize matches, glassware, and napkins.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Late into the reception, we handed out custom golf hats designed by the creative team at Gfore with a “logo” of our initials, A and D, embroidered on the front. Everyone wore them on the dance floor.

This Romantic Seattle Inspiration Shoot Brought A Beautiful Garden Indoors

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

We wanted to create something that featured the beauty of the Sunset Club, which is a year-round indoor-only venue while highlighting its beautiful areas to photograph in. Its main feature, the Georgian ballroom, with beautiful botanical wallpaper, makes you feel like you are in a garden indoors. The wedding colors were inspired by the beautiful ballroom and the garden effect we wanted to invoke while protected from Seattle’s rain. We worked closely with the florist, A La Chloe, to plan a lush floral design that was used throughout the space and intentionally selected the bridesmaid dressed to give a bit of garden whimsy while featuring several options from Dessy. We also included a subtle nod to the architecture of the ballroom’s white crown molding in the cake design, as well as the linen choice. The venue was really the center of the design inspiration; it was definitely one of Seattle’s hidden gems!

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]A palette of greens, golden yellow, pinks, peach, and neutrals were used to compliment the space. [/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]

The Sunset Club is a private and exclusive venue in the heart of Seattle. The large, Georgian-style Clubhouse offers entertaining that is both elegant, gracious, and uniquely timeless. This fully indoor venue boasts a unique experience for guests who are guided from one spectacular room to the next on the wedding day. The stunning ballroom is adorned with original Georgian style-painted panels and features beautiful chandeliers, a full theatrical stage, and a balcony. The venue is richly decorated with elegant eighteenth-century furnishings and artwork that have been thoughtfully acquired over the past century.

The bride wore Spring by Monique Lhuillier. Monique Lhuillier’s collection embodies an Italian garden. The intricate lace embellishments and floral details of Spring were the perfect complement to the garden glam aesthetic that Events by Genevieve created at the Sunset Club. In crafting the bridal look, Ivonne of IM Artistry approached hair and makeup with particular intention. Her goal was to evoke a sense of enduring elegance, one that transcends generations and never fades from style. She meticulously curated every detail to achieve this timeless aesthetic. For the bride, Ivonne opted for a classic yet refined updo, artfully tailored to accentuate her natural bone structure, ensuring she exuded grace and sophistication. Complementing her ethereal glow, they chose rich terracotta hues for her makeup palette, delicately enhanced with a touch of pink blush to create the radiant aura of a bride. The bridesmaids’ ensembles echoed this romantic sentiment, with soft and flirty looks accentuated by cascading waves in their hair. The result was a bridal party that exuded polished elegance, radiating a timeless allure that captivated all in attendance.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Party”]

The bridesmaid’s dresses were all from Dessy. We love that Dessy has so much variety, allowing the bridal party to select something that feels true to their personality and complimentary to their body type while still aligning with the couple’s overall vision for the wedding day. Each bridesmaid selected a dress in the garden glam color palette of soft blushes, pinks, and greens with options for a solid gown or floral detail. We loved the mismatched yet cohesive look!

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The A La Chloe team curated a floral arrangement that embraces soft, understated tones, echoing the elegance of the Sunset Club‘s gorgeous painting. Delicate hues of ivory, pale yellow, blush, and dusty pink intertwine seamlessly, creating a captivating visual harmony. To infuse an extra layer of romance, the designers incorporated an exquisite selection of garden roses, lisianthus, sweet peas, and seasonal blooms. The addition of plum branches adds a subtle yet striking touch, balancing strength with delicacy. The reception boasts an array of arrangements in varying heights, offering depth and drama to the ambiance. Each arrangement is crafted to enhance the overall aesthetic, complementing the venue’s sophistication. While the ceremony setup exudes simplicity, its elegance is undeniable, perfectly harmonizing with the modern floor tiles of the venue. Every detail is thoughtfully curated to ensure a seamless blend of beauty and sophistication. Personal flowers and additional arrangements are designed with a singular focus: to elevate the romance of the occasion. Each bloom is chosen with care, embodying the essence of love and celebration. The cake design was heavily based on the rich historical beauty of the venue. With a muted pink fondant and molding to mimic the iconic walls of the ballroom, the colors, and architectural aspects tied in beautifully with the surroundings. Six towering layers were accentuated with flourishes of rice paper and abstract flowers, in addition to a stenciled airbrush detail to add a softness to the bottom two layers. The invitation suite, designed by Honest Calligraphy, was a juxtaposition of refined simplicity and luxurious detail. The color palette remained soft and romantic, reflective of the overall design, featuring clean whites and the softest blush. The custom crest and menus were designed to reflect similar architectural elements present in the Sunset Club ballroom and wedding cake, and soft floral accents were a continuation of the garden aesthetic featured throughout the wedding day design.

[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]

We simply cannot get enough of this stunner of a cake, artfully designed by Alewa Bakeshop. Lisa is a true artist and has a special talent for taking inspiration from the couple, venue, and overall wedding day design. Her work often features hand-painted elements and sugar flowers nearly indistinguishable from fresh flowers. For this masterpiece, Lisa incorporated more structured elements, like the hexagonal layer situated amidst traditional rounded layers and fondant molding to reflect the architectural elements of the grand ballroom. She softened those elements with airbrushed floral accents on the bottom layer of the cake and wispy, soft-white wafer paper flowers.

[/field]
[field title=”Tips To Pull Off The Look”]

If you want a garden glam style for your wedding day, be prepared to place a high priority on florals in your budget and think outside of the box about where you’ll want to feature florals. Bouquets and tabletops are a given, but sometimes people overlook the opportunity to make a statement and create a cohesive guest experience by incorporating florals at the cake & escort display, entrance to the ceremony/reception, or as a unique statement at the cocktail hour or on the dance floor. If your venue has a unique element like an architecturally interesting doorway or a grand staircase, highlight that feature with a floral installation. And, if possible, pay to have your floral team on site for the duration of your wedding day. What really brought this garden-theme full circle was incorporating florals into unique moments of the day; the bride was surrounded by floor arrangements during her getting ready/bridal portraits, floral accents on the grand staircase, and the vignette of the wedding gown on the mannequin with florals. Having your floral team at your venue means they can assist with all the moving parts to create these magical moments. Lastly, higher a planner who knows their stuff. Gen from Events by Genevieve left no stone unturned when it came to the design for this day. From the cake to the paper products to the candelabras and linens, she ensured that every design element was in alignment with the overall garden-glam aesthetic.

Celebrating the Intimacy and Beauty of Mallorca’s Most Iconic Vista

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”The Inspiration”]

The styled shoot was inspired by the love story of Ida & Andreas, a couple who eloped one year ago in Sweden with just each other, and renewed their vows in March 2024 in Mallorca, surrounded by their loved ones and the island’s breathtaking scenery. Our aim was to capture the intimacy and beauty of their celebration against one of Mallorca’s most iconic vistas. We wanted to create a concept that respected the history of the venue while infusing it with luxury, intimacy, and the essence of Mallorcan charm. The story we sought to convey was one of love, connection, and the timeless allure of Mallorca as a wedding destination.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]For this shoot, we selected a color palette of soft, seasonal hues, including white, light blue, and touches of green. These colors were chosen to complement the natural beauty of the venue and evoke a sense of luxury and tranquility. The integration of these colors into the overall design was seamless, with each element carefully curated to enhance the ambiance and create a cohesive look and feel. From the floral arrangements to the decor, every detail was thoughtfully considered to ensure a harmonious and visually stunning aesthetic.[/field]
[field title=”The Venue”]Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Mallorca, the Monestir de Miramar stands as one of the oldest buildings on the island, steeped in rich history and timeless allure. Originally founded by Ramón Llull, a pioneering figure in Mallorcan history, the venue holds a special place as a memorial to his legacy and that of Archduke Ludwig Salvator, who both made significant contributions to the Balearic island. Perched majestically overlooking the wide expanse of the Mediterranean, the Monestir de Miramar offers enchanting views and an atmosphere of unparalleled tranquility. Its architectural charm and storied past provided the perfect backdrop, adding depth and meaning to every moment of the day. As the heart and soul of Mallorca’s cultural heritage, the venue embodied the essence of romance and elegance, making it an ideal setting for their love story to unfold.[/field]

Despite challenges such as short notice and inclement weather, the team successfully executed our vision, creating a magical atmosphere that captured the essence of Mallorca’s beauty.[/field]
[field title=”Favorite Design Element”]One of the standout design elements was the cake, which was truly out of this world. Seaside Serenity: A Laid-Back Summer Wedding by the Ocean

Blush, pink, pastel yellow, and ivory.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The couple dreamed of an intimate wedding, capturing the spirit of a laid-back summer beach holiday. Frigga Events aimed to blend the serene vibe of Friday Harbor with a warm, inviting palette of blush, pastel yellow, ivory, and ocean-inspired blues. The design featured elements like blue and white stripes and weaved textures, to create a cozy, holiday ambiance. This approach crafted a setting that was both elegant and personal, echoing the joy of a seaside escape with loved ones.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

In the golden glow of a Boston autumn, amidst trails lined with amber leaves, Mengting and her partner found their forever. With Mengting poised to graduate with her MBA in June 2023, the timing felt serendipitous. The couple realized their wedding guests would mirror the joyful crowd at Mengting’s graduation, blending two monumental celebrations into one. It was against this backdrop of anticipation and shared futures that they chose to say “yes” at the same time to a lifetime together. This wasn’t just a proposal; it was the merging of life’s beautiful milestones, surrounded by the warmth of impending graduation and the promise of shared tomorrows.

For her walk down the aisle, Mengting chose an exquisite off-shoulder satin ball gown from Jusere, a renowned Chinese bridal brand. This stunning piece combined timeless elegance with a touch of modern grace, perfectly capturing the bride’s personal style. The gown’s luxurious fabric and classic silhouette made for a breathtaking statement as Mengting stepped into the spotlight. Transitioning into the reception and after-party, Mengting slipped into a second masterpiece, a mermaid dress from the Blue Willow collection by Anne Barge, available at Nyanza Bridal. This gown seamlessly blended sophistication with a playful flair, echoing the joyous spirit of the evening’s celebrations. Its impeccable design and fit highlighted Mengting’s silhouette, ensuring she dazzled guests from the first dance to the last toast.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]In a nod to personal style and comfort, the bridesmaid dresses were tailor-made in China, allowing each bridesmaid the freedom to select their preferred style and shade within a harmonious palette of pink. These dresses added a soft, romantic touch to the day.[/field]

At this wedding, the couple’s love for gourmet experiences took center stage, transforming their special day into an unforgettable culinary journey. With a passion for fine dining, they entrusted Coho Restaurant, a local gem, to curate a feast that would dazzle their guests from the very beginning. The welcome included light and refreshing fruit salads, rich tuna poke, a selection of nuts, and warm beverages, setting a tone of warmth and hospitality. As the day progressed, the cocktail hour introduced a lavish spread of passed appetizers featuring the likes of seared wagyu, sesame ginger glazed pork belly, crispy tofu, and mouth-watering flatbreads, complemented by a sophisticated oyster bar. The culinary masterpiece was the seven-course dinner, a showcase of the finest local ingredients. Guests were treated to a parade of dishes, including delicate scallops, Washington State clams, spicy seafood tagliatelle, and sumptuously smoked beef short ribs, each course more impressive than the last. Elevating the festive atmosphere were the wedding’s signature cocktails – Pina Colada and Paloma. These fruity and refreshing beverages were carefully chosen to mirror the laid-back, summery vibe of the wedding, offering a sip of bliss with every toast. This impeccable dining experience, from the appetizers to the signature cocktails, left guests raving, perfectly encapsulating the couple’s gastronomic vision for their big day.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Selva Floral Design brought the soft color palette to life with an array of summer blooms featuring arum lilies, peonies, and lisianthus. These flowers, arranged in dozens of woven baskets, added a natural, textured touch to the decor. A standout feature was the curved aisle for the ceremony, creating an intimate and inviting path that led to the altar. This thoughtful arrangement of florals and decor perfectly complemented the laid-back summer holiday vibe of the wedding.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

From Coho Restaurant came the wedding’s centerpiece dessert: a 2-tiered cake with a secret berry filling cloaked in a pristine all-white design. Topped and surrounded by theme-colored flowers, it stood as a sweet, elegant nod to the day’s love-filled celebrations.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

A unique touch that truly set this wedding apart was the customized luggage tags used as escort cards. Each guest’s name was carefully carved onto a tag, which was then thoughtfully attached to a straw bag. This inventive detail not only guided guests to their seats but also embraced the laid-back holiday vibe of the event, making for a memorable and personalized keepsake that guests could cherish long after the celebration ended.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Another bespoke element that added a touch of seaside sophistication to the reception was the use of oyster shells as name cards. Each shell was artfully painted gold on the outside and pearl white on the inside, providing a luxurious yet natural feel to the table settings. An artist carefully handwrote each guest’s name on the shells, blending elegance with personalization. This creative choice not only complemented the beach holiday theme but also served as a beautiful keepsake for guests, encapsulating the essence of the day in a unique and meaningful way.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]In an exciting twist of timing, the wedding took place just one day before Mengting’s graduation ceremony, adding an extra layer of celebration to the weekend. The festivities were so engaging and joy-filled that guests nearly missed the ferry back to Seattle! We find this moment of light-hearted urgency illustrated the immersive enjoyment and unforgettable atmosphere of the wedding, leaving everyone with memories filled with laughter and shared happiness.[/field]

Both were giddy with excitement; it was a celebration of their love and their very first experience with the charming Italy. Joined by their closest family members, they were all set for a day filled with love, laughter, and a boatload of Italian charm.

However, Mother Nature had her own plans for the day. Just as the ceremony was about to kick off, a sudden thunderstorm hit Positano, bringing torrents of rain. But did that put a damper on Stephanie and David’s spirits? Not in the least!

With the terrace for their ceremony drenched, it was a race against time. Yet, with the help of their trusty wedding coordinator at Amalfi Luxury Weddings, they quickly sprang into action, rearranging the timeline with lightning speed (pun totally intended).

Amidst all the craziness of the storm, Stephanie and David were still as cool as ever. They knew that come rain or shine, this day was not just about the weather. It was about the love they shared and the commitment they were making to each other.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Against the backdrop of Positano’s pastel-hued buildings and azure waters, the rain added an ethereal touch to Stephanie and David’s ceremony.

As the rain drops fell, they exchanged personal vows under a canopy of umbrellas, and their words blended with the soft hum of nature. It was like every drop echoed the cadence of their love story, making the atmosphere even more palpable.

As it cleared, a soft glow filled the terrace at The Marincanto. Stephanie and David hugged each other, surrounded by their rain-kissed loved ones. Like love is, weather is a force of nature, unyielding and profound, just like the rain on their special day. Those thunderstorms serves as a metaphor for their journey – tough, yet beautiful, adorned with the marks of life’s unpredictable twists.[/field]

Victorian Era Inspired Banff Wedding That Wows

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Monique and Justin were married at the iconic Fairmont Banff Springs, Canada’s Castle in the Rockies, and what a royal affair it was. Drawing influence from the Victorian era, wedding planner and designer, Raven Alexandra Signature Weddings, wove refined vintage moments throughout the design to achieve perfect balance of effortless romance and classic elegance. At the center of the design were the words to Édith Piaf’s renowned “La Vie En Rose” honouring the bride’s French heritage.

On our 3rd first date-iversary (July 4th) I surprised Monique with a crab and champaign picnic in the park by the river. Afterwords, we walked over to the bench where we had our first kiss and I surprised her with the ring!

Guests were treated to their choice of smoked signature cocktails prepared by Spirits With Smoke. A Black Manhattan for the groom and a Clover Club cocktail for the bride were among the evening’s favorites. A four-course dinner prepared by the Fairmont Banff Springs featured seared scallops, roasted beet salad, and a choice of Alberta beef tenderloin, pan-roasted chicken breast, or Icelandic cod, ending with a slice of the couple’s wedding cake. After cutting the cake immediately following Monique and Justin’s grand entrance, dinner was served amidst a series of toasts, many of which contained beautiful bilingual moments. Following dinner and a series of formal dances between the couple and their parents, a champagne tower commenced the dance, which was led by a Local DJ until moving to Fairmont’s Bowl Valley for after-party celebrations, late-night nibbles, and several lanes of bowling.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Floral design, perfected by Creative Edge Flowers incorporated pops of burgundy and toffee to achieve an organic yet antique look. Leaning into the stunning architecture of Mount Stephen Hall, altar arrangements mirrored the symmetry of the space while the tall floral-wrapped candelabras at the center of reception tables guided the eye upwards. Striking accents of hunter green amidst classic gold pieces were sourced from both Modern Rentals and Special Event Rentals, along with a traditional French colonial-style lounge set complete with an audio guest book from Confetti Call where guests, young and old, left personalized voice messages for the couple, throughout the evening. With the bride’s great-grandmother in attendance, these voice notes will be treasured for years to come. Guests searched for their names on an upright antique gold mirror and then for their table numbers on scalloped table numbers and belly band place cards matching the floral print vellum from the invitation suite. These delicate paper goods, and others crafted by PaperOcelot Studios incorporated Monique and Justin’s monogram, also seen on decals created by YNOT Digital throughout the space.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

A three tiered wedding cake was brought to life by Yvonne’s Delightful Cakes. Featuring a delicately stencilled blush buttercream finish with lifelike white and gold sugar flowers carefully placed upon each tier, this masterpiece was nestled in a garden of soft and complimentary blooms.

Dreamy harp music by Harp Angel greeted guests as they arrived at the ceremony. Along with a selection of the couple’s favorite songs, “La Vie En Rose” accompanied the ladies as they processed down the aisle.

A Nature Inspired Miami Beach Wedding That Wows

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The wedding colors were blue, green, coral, yellow, and pink.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The first words the couple used to describe their dream wedding were memorable and vibrant. They chose a beautiful garden in the heart of Miami Beach to host their wedding and leaned into the vibrancy of nature to inspire the design. Vibrancy through music, food, florals, and decor all ensured the night was truly memorable.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Of their proposal, the groom writes: “I will never forget my marriage proposal to Becky: the moment itself (a rooftop sunset together in Florence, Italy) could not have gone more perfectly, while my physical state (wracked by a seafood-induced stomach virus) could not have been worse. To set my plan in motion, I told Becky I got us a reservation at a private rooftop bar “that lets you bring in your own wine,” and kept the ruse up even as I unlocked the door to what was clearly an AirBnB (with a key that I secretly had picked up hours earlier while “grabbing a gatorade from the corner store”). On the roof deck–in the midst of a breathtaking sunset–I got on one knee, proposed, and we toasted to our life together. And I know everything was meant to be, because–by some miracle–that wine was the only liquid I could keep down all day!”

For food and beverage, we took a narrative approach to the menu. The couple was looking for a lively event atmosphere rather than a formal, plated dinner so we designed action stations based on cities that were important to their love story. We featured a Southern food station to nod to Becky’s home city of Tallahassee; a Masa de Puerco & Plantains station for Chris’ home city of Miami; a Pizza & Chinese take-out station to pay homage to NYC where the couple met; and an Italian Pasta station to tie in Florence, where the couple was engaged.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

When the couple came to me with their wedding design vision, they had several different ideas that they wanted to marry together, but weren’t quite sure how they would meld. Melding these visions was truly one of my favorite weddings to design. The couple wanted to blend a tropical vision with a Southern elegance and a vintage touch. For their ceremony Lucelo Flor designed a beautiful, chromatic grounded arrangement so that the couple truly felt they were standing in a garden. We incorporated three different styles of chairs in ceremony and reception. In ceremony, we blended the chairs together as inspired by the couple’s favorite Miami date night spot, Lagniappe. In reception, each of these chairs stood with their own table design for each of the aesthetics we melded together in their vibrant reception. To tie it all together we had a ceiling of sprawling vines and rattan pendants suspended over their classic black and white checkered dance floor.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]As a departure from tradition, the couple decided not to feature a wedding cake! They elected to have an ice cream bar & key lime pie bites as a nod to Florida.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The couple had a full coffee & espresso bar. It was the perfect way to keep their guests energized on their lively & vibrant dance floor.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The couple was very intentional about sustainability at their event. The bride works in the global sustainability field for corporations and wanted to be sure that their wedding followed suit with a sustainable edge. We sourced recycled take out boxes for the Chinese take-out action station and minimized all plastic & paper products that could’ve ended up discarded!

In crafting the wedding style, the design team at SoCal Wedding Consultant found inspiration in the serene landscapes of Tuscany, opting for lush organic florals by Flower Allie and marked by light, airy elements with neutral wood tones. Nichole and Frank’s vision evoked an upscale family dinner ambiance, blending elegance with a warm, inviting atmosphere to create an unforgettable celebration of love.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]It was December 23.2022. Nichole was running around trying to get last-minute Christmas shopping wrapped up. Frank called and said they should go to their favorite spot down in Newport Beach. She had no idea what was in store, she thought he just wanted to kick off Christmas early. They headed down to Balboa Bay Club to catch the sunset and grab some cocktails. After the sunset, they decided to go for a walk around Balboa and look at the lights. They couldn’t find parking so Nichole suggested they go home but Frank persisted. She thought it was weird that he was so adamant about checking out the lights because they had gone just the week before but off they went! Nichole was admiring all the beautiful houses, when Frank took her arm and turned her around to look at a dock that was covered with lights that said “MARRY ME!”[/field]

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Imagine stepping into a fairytale, where time seems to stand still amidst the ancient walls of Ferentillo Abbey in Umbria, Italy. When the bride laid eyes on this medieval marvel, she knew it was the perfect setting for their wedding – a celebration inspired by simplicity, elegance, and the timeless beauty of this historic venue. Their vision was to complement the abbey’s natural grandeur, so they opted for locally sourced florals in muted tones, mirroring the quiet splendor of their surroundings. As they exchanged vows in the abbey’s courtyard, surrounded by centuries-old architecture, weathered stone arches draped in cascading ivy, bathing everything in a soft, ethereal light, it felt like stepping into a dream. As day turned to night, the courtyard transformed into a magical space, filled with laughter, love, and the enchanting melodies of live acoustic music. Their wedding at Ferentillo Abbey was more than just a celebration; it was a journey back in time, a testament to the enduring beauty of love.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Collin and Kate’s love story began six years ago amid the bustling halls of work, where their contrasting personalities sparked an undeniable attraction. When Kate relocated to Houston after graduating, their romance blossomed through weekends spent exploring the city’s hidden gems and culinary delights. Despite the distance when Collin moved to Washington DC for graduate school, their bond only grew stronger as they navigated a long-distance relationship with unwavering commitment and countless shared adventures. It was during Kate’s first visit to DC, strolling beside the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, that Collin knew he had found his forever partner. For the next year or so, he planned for a proposal at the end of his graduation there at that same spot – the Reflecting Pool. He wanted to show her that although DC was his adventure, it was a journey they took together. It was always about advancing a future together. As Collin was solidifying plans for the coming months, Covid swept in. Despite his plans being derailed by the onset of Covid, Collin’s determination to create a meaningful proposal never wavered. Upon their reunion in Houston, Collin discovered a picturesque spot reminiscent of their cherished DC memories – a Reflecting Pool nestled within the Rice area, an homage to their journey together. In this symbolic setting, amidst the echoes of their shared past and the promise of a future intertwined, Collin finally asked Kate to embark on the greatest adventure of all – a lifetime of love

The Anatomy Of An Invitation Suite: What’s Included?

There is a lot of flexibility in what pieces can and should be included in an invitation suite. While a few pieces are vital, stationery is designed to fit your event and what you need, uniquely.

“The typical invitation suite includes what we call The Basics: invitation, reply card and envelopes for both. Most clients will also have a details insert of some kind, and some order a custom map.”

–Emily Foran, Three Little Words

Photo by Anya Kernes Photography, LBB | Stationery by Olive Saint Lily

Save the Dates

Save the dates are traditionally mailed 6–12 months prior to the wedding, and let guests know a date and the general location of the wedding. They are particularly helpful if you and your partner are hosting a wedding with out-of-town guests, or if you’re planning a longer engagement. By sending these cards, guests will know they weren’t forgotten, and will have advance notice to start making arrangements and securing their spot on your special day.

Because they are often sent early in the wedding process, most of the details and decisions for the wedding will not be finalized, and that’s okay! When sending save the dates, the only things you need to know are a firm date, the city/state of the event, and a general sense of how the day will look and feel.

Be sure to include:

  • Names of couple
  • Wedding Date
  • City, State
  • Venue Name (Optional)
  • Wedding Website (Optional, although if you’ve already gotten your wedding website up and running, this is a great place to show it off and give your guests a place to go for all their questions)

Photo by Anya Kernes Photography, LBB | Stationery by Olive Saint Lily

Main Invitation

The main invitation card lies at the heart of each invitation suite. Traditionally, invitation wording has fairly strict etiquette. However, if you’re hosting an informal event, the etiquette can loosen a little. You can read more about invitation wording in the etiquette section of this guide.

Since the design of the main invitation suite happens closer to the big day, there’s more opportunity to bring in elements from the event itself. If you’re ordering custom stationery, your designer could incorporate a floral illustration using the varieties of flowers that will be used in the centerpieces, or use envelopes that match the bridesmaids’ dresses. View the invitation suite as a bridge between concept and reality, and use it to express your vision in a different format. The opportunity for creative design choices increases when you incorporate additional cards in the suite.

Be sure to include:

  • Who is hosting
  • Names of couple
  • Date and Time
  • Venue
  • City (State is optional)

Response Cards and Envelopes

While technology has opened up doors for how guests can RSVP, traditional etiquette calls for a good, old-fashioned response card. Usually the smallest card in the suite, a response card includes a line for the guests or a hired calligrapher to write their names and mark whether or not they’ll be attending the event. Some response cards also include a section where guests can select their meal preference (a large majority of venues nowadays allow guests to choose their entrées tableside, but if that isn’t the case with yours, then here’s where you’d do it!), and in recent years, it’s become good practice to include a line where they can write any dietary restrictions.

The corresponding envelope should be pre-addressed to whoever is collecting response cards, AND include postage as well. No matter how pretty the invitation is, people can get lazy and lack the motivation to mail that baby back in! If you make the process of responding easier with a stamp already on it, more guests will get the picture and do their best to drop it in the post in a timely manner. Mailing invitations in the proper time frame,  so that they don’t have too much or too little time to reply, will increase the amount of people who respond as well.

Be sure to include:

  • Reply by Date
  • Line for guests’ names
  • Boxes to mark attendance status
  • Dietary Restriction Line (Optional)
  • Meal selection (Optional)

Photo by The Ganeys, LBB | Stationery by Emily Mayne Studio, LBB

Details Card

A details card can be included in a suite to give guests more information on lodging, travel, navigation, menu choices, dress code, and other things they should know about the event. They are particularly helpful if your ceremony and reception venues are different, if you’re hosting out of town guests, or if you’re planning a more complex or formal event.

Things you may include:

  • Dress Code
  • Menu Options
  • Lodging Recommendations
  • Wedding Website
  • Notes on weather or landscape, if outdoor wedding
  • Other things guests should know

Photo by Kristyn Harder Photography | Stationery by Plush Invitations

Illustrated Maps

When ordering custom or semi-custom suites, some designers offer illustrated maps. These cards are a fantastic way to show off your venues, and create a statement piece worth remembering. While most guests will opt to use a GPS to find their way, illustrated maps can give a general sense of where venues are located within a city. Not to mention, they’re really fun to look at!

This area is surrounded by a lush green forest cascading on the surrounding limestone cliffs. When it was time, Ignacio and Francesca took a walk along the jetty. Admiring the crystal blue waters, they decided to capture the moment with their camera. As they were posing with a kiss, Ignacio dropped down to one knee and proposed. Just as he was placing the ring on Francesca’s finger, a wave gracefully rolls in and washes over the jetty, almost as if nature itself was gracing their love story.[/field]
