This Editor Married In Total Style

If you’re one of those girls who likes to Internet stalk your favorite fashion bloggers’ weddings (I’m guilty!), this feature is your new happy place. Janelle Grodsky of The Style Eater and Associate Editor at InStyle is sharing her big day that’ll completely inspire you to throw a relaxed, fuss-free wedding with greenery involved from start to finish. Paige Jones photographed, Ellay Films captured the film, and we’re racing to The Vault for every last detail.

From the bride and InStyle Editor, Janelle GrodskyKyle and I got married after 10 years of being together. Before that, we had known each other since middle school, so it’s safe to say that we have so many shared memories. We wanted our wedding to be extremely personal and reflective of our relationship, so we infused it with details specific to us. For one, the venue was in our hometown. We also wrote the entire ceremony together from start to finish. After looking through traditional ceremonies, none of them felt like they truly represented us so we created one ourselves. My uncle officiated the ceremony too and the whole thing felt really personal and special.

As for the music, every song represented our relationship in some way. I walked down the aisle to Falling Slowly from the film Once, performed on the cello by my cousin Ian Gottlieb (who is an incredible cellist). We’ve watched the movie a million times and it just felt right to use a piece of music that was special to both of us. Before the processional, my cousin played the Game of Thrones theme song—no explanation needed for that one! For our first dance, we picked John Legend’s Stay With You because Kyle has been singing that song to me since we started dating in 2005.

I decided to plan the wedding myself because I had a clear idea from the beginning of what I wanted. Simple, simple, simple! Lots of greenery, natural design elements, and a no-fuss vibe. It helped that my best friend Jaymee Harney is in the wedding industry and steered me in the right direction—she’s a graphic designer and wedding videographer who did all of our paper design and video, too. I’m also an editor at InStyle Magazine so I’m familiar with dress designers and the event planning world in general. I took lots of advice from my vendors too, from my calligrapher Nicole Miyuki Santo who helped me figure out the signage to my florist Kristen Caissie from Moon Canyon who helped with the reception table layout (on top of her killer florals!). In the end, my mom and I planned everything together and I’m so thankful for all of her help, guidance, and support. My dad even chipped in and built our ceremony altar with Kyle!

Overall, we were extremely happy with how everything turned out. We loved our coordinator, Leslie Kaplan from Encore Events, who made sure everything ran smoothly (and it did!). When you plan your own wedding, having a great coordinator is KEY! We also loved our DJ, Matthew Rubino. From cocktails to dinner to the dance party, everything he played was gold.

My favorite moment of the wedding happened when Kyle and I exchanged wedding cards before the ceremony. We gave each other the exact same card! They read “It was always you.” It was such a surreal and beautiful moment for both of us. I literally burst into tears (like Kim Kardashian-level ugly crying) and it was the only time I cried during the wedding — for the rest of it, I couldn’t stop smiling!

From Miss to Mrs: How to Legally Change Your Maiden Name in 5 Easy Steps

Help: I’m officially a procrastinator. I’ve been married for 322 days and I still haven’t changed my last name! Reason being? It all seems a little too complicated (ain’t nobody got time for that I say), that is – until today. Because I’ve finally found the tools needed to help me get started and it’s all outlined below!

[dotted]

First things first, you’ll need the original marriage license (with the raised seal) and your new last name on it. If you don’t have this handy, be sure to call the clerk’s office where your license was filed to get copies although in most cases one should automatically sent to you.

The first step is changing the name listed on your social security card. To do this, visit the Social Security Administration’s website and fill out the application for a new Social Security card. Please note that you’ll keep the same SSN, it’s important to note that just your name will be different. Once you’ve completed the application, mail it (or go in person) to the local Social Security Administration office. After 10 business days you’ll have your new social security card!

Choose a weekday (before 12 pm is best) and take a trip to the local DMV’s office, it’s time to get an updated license with your new last name! Bring absolutely every single form of identification you can lay your hands on. Some good items to bring along: your old license, your certified marriage license, your new social security card, and a good magazine it might be a bit of a wait.

Time to update those bank accounts! The quickest way to change your name at your bank is to go into the branch location. Be sure to bring your new driver’s license AND your marriage license. Be sure to request new checks and electronic cards (debit + credit if applicable) on top of changing the name attached to your accounts.

Once you’ve got an updated Social Security card and Driver’s License with your new last time, all the other changes should come easy. While some establishments may require just a phone call to make the update, others may ask for a copy of your marriage certificate and/or social security card so keep these handy!

Rain or Shine, This Organic Affair Was Absolutely Breathtaking

Rain or shine, this darling duo was going to celebrate.  And when the overcast skies moved in on their uber-romantic forest wedding, that, my friends, is exactly what they did.  Think beautifully crafted organic details meets a breathtaking tree-covered ceremony meets dancing under the stars, a light dusting of rain included.  See every stunning moment captured by Christie Graham in THE VAULT.

From Christie Graham PhotographyScott and Amanda’s wedding took me to the Pemberton Valley in July, one of my favorite places in BC. Typically sun filled and warm in summer months, the weather took an unexpected turn to cooler temperatures and light rain. A welcomed drink for the forests which had been engulfed by wild fires all summer long.

Not for one second did I see disappointment on their faces. Their laughter was big. Their smiles were bigger. Rain or shine.

A few things made this wedding a highlight for me: Firstly, the venue, Green Water Resort- this property in the valley is truly unique. It rests on the river surrounded by mountains and farmer’s fields. The tented reception is nestled in the trees while the dance floor is under strings of cafe lights under the stars. Secondly, the bride’s style- Amanda stayed true to who she is, rocking a Katie May dress that was perfect for her. Lastly, the joy of the day- Scott and Amanda have a lot of fun together, it’s easy to see, and their wedding day was no exception. They laughed, they cried, they joked around. It was a day of celebrating their love and the life they have built together.

This Beautiful Bride Wore Her Something Borrowed

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. For most Brides, the something borrowed is a piece of jewelry from a family member. But for this gorgeous Bride, her something borrowed was her dress. And the Nha Khanh dress was the right balance of traditional bride and beachy bohemian for her romantic Hawaiian wedding that came together thanks toSunyas FlowersMerrimans and the stunning Ironwoods Beach In Kapalua. See the whole day, captured by Wendy Laurel, in The Vault!

From The Bride…I am not an easy person to surprise. While on a trip to Kona on the Big Island in 2014, Anthony not only managed to pull off a surprise proposal, but he also arranged for nine of my family members to be looking on and sharing in the moment.

When it came to the type of wedding we wanted and where we would get married, returning to Hawaii was always at the top of the list. The breezy, effortlessly cool vibe of the Aloha State was the essence of what we wanted our second—most important—wedding to be. We both had done the big, overblown wedding. One week apart from each other in 2009, we married other people (then, 43 days apart from each other, we both had our first child!). There were plenty of crystals, jumping photos, and lots of guests we didn’t recognize. While beautiful, we knew that our forever wedding needed to be something very different.

It was immediately decided that we would marry on the beach, but family and friends’ budget issues, time off issues, and issues with flying made our dream of a Hawaiian wedding look less and less likely. After many, many conversations we decided to elope. It was all becoming too complicated, and we didn’t want to settle for a cookie-cutter wedding in our home state of Florida just because it was more convenient for everyone else. Since we had both been married before, deciding to not have our families at the wedding was a tiny bit easier. Our two 5 year olds were another story. Michael and Lola were so excited about becoming brother and sister, and we really wanted them to feel a part of the blending of our family. We waffled for months on whether or not the kids should come with us to Hawaii. I poured over unique vow renewals and family elopements on Style Me Pretty, envisioning myself, Anthony, Mikey, and Lola in the images. The kids all looked so well-behaved and photogenic. Maybe we could do this, too? In the end, our guts told us to leave everyone behind and make the moment about us. We had both been through so much, and it was a time to focus on each other, our happiness, and the commitment we were making.

Once we chose the island of Maui, everything just fell into place—which is how we knew it was right. I first saw Wendy Laurel’s work on SMP and immediately decided she had to shoot our ceremony. When I passed along her website and blog to Anthony, he was instantly entranced as well. Hawaii is paradise, but weddings there can get cheesy quickly. Online, I saw wedding after wedding chock full of grass skirts, flowered shirts, hibiscus and tiki torches. While I have to admit that we did participate heavily in the “Maui’d” pun, we wanted to keep things elegant and polished with that signature Hawaii cool factor. We looped this common thread throughout all the details of our intimate ceremony. All of the florals came from a local shop on Maui that Wendy had worked with before and recommended. I chose a mixture of bright, tropical flowers, roses in muted tones, succulents, and what I can only describe as nice-looking weeds. The goal was something organic and wildflower-esque, but still refined. From 4,600 miles away, all I could do was send pictures and hope for the best. When we drove to pick up the bouquet, Haku (Hawaiian flower crown), and Maile (a green, garland-type lei worn by the groom) the day of the wedding (talk about faith!), I loved that the “shop” that I had pictured during my email correspondence with Sunya in the months leading up to the wedding was actually the balmy, open-air converted garage of a home on a side street in the small town of Lahaina. Effortlessly cool.

For my dress I knew I wanted to rent and had heard great things about Rent the Runway. The Nha Khanh number I landed on was equal parts traditional bride and beachy bohemian. The SMP beach wedding inspiration that resonated with me the most was the weddings where the bride and groom didn’t dress down because they were on the beach. (No khaki shorts and white eyelet sundresses here!). The Pacific Ocean off the coasts of the Hawaiian Islands is mighty and regal, so we decided to dress up for it. Anthony wore a crisp white shirt, a skinny black tie and storm cloud-colored pale gray pants. We offset our fanciness with simple Havaianas rubber flip flops in classic black and white. The finishing touches were my Haku and his Maile. When my Mom saw the first picture of Anthony and I at the ceremony she texted back, “Beautiful! You look like a Hawaii girl!” Nailed it.

Getting ready for the ceremony was a blur as it often is for the bride. Anthony and I decided to separate after our morning wedding errands and to not see each other until we met on the beach when it was time to get married. This turned out to be a great choice. It felt more special to have the hours before the wedding apart, building up to the big moment. Anthony had a massage at the spa while I got my hair and makeup done in the hotel’s salon. All the ladies in the salon swooned when he had a card and a gift dropped off during my appointment. Keeper! Afterward, I had a little time in the room alone to quietly reflect and get dressed. I did have to stop ask a woman in the hotel lobby to zip up the back of my dress the rest of the way (#elopementproblems).

When I arrived at hidden and quiet Ironwoods Beach where our wedding ceremony would take place, I felt like a Kardashian. Anthony had arranged for a driver at the Ritz-Carlton where we were staying to take me to the beach in a black Cadillac Escalade with dark tinted windows. Since we didn’t want to see each other prior, I was held in the car while the driver, our officiant, Pia, and Wendy placed everyone in their proper positions. Pia and Wendy went out of sight where Anthony was waiting and her assistant stood where I could see him and told me he would give me a thumbs up when it was time for me to start walking toward the ceremony spot. As I waited for his signal, I felt so calm. I kicked off my flip flops, dug my toes into the cool, soft sand and just stared out into the ocean listening to the sound of the crashing waves. When he gave me the sign, I slowly walked toward Anthony, whose back was to me. He finally turned around and we locked eyes, and he whispered, “You’re beautiful,” which is the first thing he said to me when we met. It was truly a magical moment.

Pia, our officiant, did a wonderful job with the ceremony. There was a part where he asked us to hold hands and look out into the sea, which felt so serene and really drew attention to the breathtaking scenery around us. He brought a little bit of Hawaii to the wedding and that made it so special. It was exactly what we wanted. Afterward, we learned that Pia and his wife were married on that very beach 11 years prior. Anthony and I felt we were in great company! After Pia performed the ceremony, Wendy took lots of pictures. Then, we were alone on the beach as husband and wife. Anthony pulled up DNCE’s “Cake By the Ocean,” a wedding-planning fave, on his phone and we blared it and just danced crazily on the beach together. We made a video for the kids before heading to Merriman’s for our wedding dinner.

While our technical first dance was “Cake By the Ocean,” my absolute favorite memory from the day was when Anthony asked the guy playing guitar and singing in the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton if he knew “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis. Elvis is major in Hawaii, so of course he knew the tune and he stopped everything and played it right away, allowing us to have our own private first dance as husband and wife right then and there. Other hotel guests were congratulating us, watching, and clapping. It was such a spontaneous moment that could not have been better if we had planned it for weeks. A perfect ending to the best day ever.

My advice for other brides-to-be is to be yourself and keep the focus on the union. Whether it’s your first or second wedding, no matter your budget or your situation, stick to your tastes and preferences and make the day entirely your own. Also, when it’s all said and done, your cranky great aunt isn’t in this relationship—you and your partner are. Choose a location and a style that makes you happy and celebrates your commitment. Most importantly, focus on that commitment. A wedding is just one day while the marriage is all the rest of the days.

Throughout the planning process and after the ceremony, all I talked about is SMP. “It’s the biggest wedding blog that exists,” I kept telling my now-husband. Being the sweetheart that he is, Anthony reached out to SMP the day after we got married without me knowing inquiring about being published because he knew it was so important to me. (Let me put it this way: I worked at a local news station for several years, and a favorite pastime is writing and re-writing the headline for my fantasy front-page SMP feature). Besides the obvious bragging rights, I think our wedding being featured on SMP would be amazing because it’s not your traditional love story. Ours is a modern-day, Brady Bunch-style, fairy tale. This is our second marriage, and our first marriages were 7 days apart. Our kids are 43 days apart in age. Anthony has family in and used to spend summers in the tiny town where I am from in Pennsylvania. We met on Match and overcame a lot to bring our two families together. I feel that our love story is special and unique and would give readers of SMP a fresh, different take on happily ever after.

Why an All-White Wedding Is Never Going Out of Style

Wedding trends come and go, but some things will always be in style, including all-white weddings like this one from Hunter Ryan Photo. From the Bride’s lovely lace wedding dress and perfect hair and makeup from Duality Artistry to the lush white florals and perfect garden ceremony, this day from Along Came Stephanie is as classic and beautiful as they come. See all the pretty details in The Vault!

From Hunter Ryan PhotoLauren, being born and raised a Florida girl, just knew she’d have her wedding in South Florida. What she didn’t know is that it would end up being a destination wedding for many – including herself – after following her dreams to start her life in Chicago. Her life in Chicago which includes being right next to the sweet guy who stole her heart 6 years prior at Homecoming in college, Dave. He lights her up like no one can and it was beautifully apparent on their wedding day. Witnessing love as a photographer – we see so much – we observe – we capture. Lauren and Dave? They were so fully engaged in one another, the moment, their wedding day -that we just got to capture the love from the outside that they had in their own sweet little world that day. These two are the absolute perfection of a Barbie & Ken couple – but their beautiful hearts and kindness far outshadows the outward beauty – and we could not be happier for them and a lifetime of love!!

Lauren’s main focus was sharing with their closest friends and family in their faith and love. She’s so careful to make sure everyone else is perfectly taken care of and having a good time. Lauren is such a classic beauty and her entire aesthetic reflected that. The entire day was a soft white garden party feel. Winter in Florida is such amazing weather (compared to her windy city!) that they chose the outdoor lawn/garden area for their ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point. Beautiful draping ushered in guests and the bride alike with soft white florals and greenery. The reception moved indoors and yet kept the same airy garden feel with tall white floral centerpieces and hanging greenery, greenery garland runners on the head table and lots of elegant candlelight and mercury glass.

Hot Pink Petals + Sweet Kisses Make This Engagement Shoot Extra Special

Is this not the cutest, sweetest, please we-wanna-be-friends-with-you couple ever? From their sweet kisses to the strolls on both Malibu beach and through Venice’s canals, we fall more in love with them with every one of Sophie Epton’s precious pics. Vault galleries like this one remind us why we adore engagement shoots so very much – one look through and a smile is guaranteed to appear on your face. Try it out – and reap the rewards.

From Sophie EptonMelody and Sam are such a wonderful couple, and we loved photographing every sweet moment of their California engagement. They had recently moved to LA after living in Texas, and this session was an ode to their current surroundings and new life they are embarking on together. Although the weather was overcast, the clouds provided a magical, moody look with sea mist and roaring waves of Malibu Beach… and it was so much fun running in the sand and putting our toes in the ocean while we captured the two of them! Charmain with Emblem Flowers created the most gorgeous gathering of blooms that truly looked like natural florals growing out of a seaside cliff, and was an exquisite pop of color against the neutral backdrop of the ocean. We ended the shoot walking all over the canals of Venice, a favorite spot for this twosome that has such a unique California vibe. I love when photos not only capture the emotion of our couples, but also take a snapshot of different stages in their lives, and it was truly an honor to photograph Melody and Sam’s love story in California!

The Prettiest Way to Give Back? This Floral and Bubbly Party

We love when giving back and enjoying time with friends is all rolled up in one. And Jenny of Margo & Me feels the same. Her newest venture, Blossoms & Bubbly, takes a floral arranging class, cocktail hour with girlfriends and donating to a local women’s shelter and combines them into one decidedly gorgeous celebration. See it all captured by Jodee Debes in the VAULT.

A bit about Blossoms & Bubbly… We are a boutique design and production house that creates innovative environments for inspired celebrations. Born out of Jenny Bernheim of Margo & Me’s love of fresh florals and quality champagne, she and her team strive to construct artisanal and artfully curated events down to the very last detail. Workshops, Events, Design, and Styling – no event is to big or too small for these artists whose hearts are big enough to hug the whole world. Seamlessly navigating the production process ’til the very end, these thinkers and creators celebrate the everyday in their pursuit of contribution. Servicing the California region and beyond, this kind of work serves as the direct inspiration and fuel for the growth of their many artistic endeavors. We strive to bring incredible stories to life and always seek opportunity to give back whenever we can.

At every event we host, we ask that guests bring donations for our local women’s shelter, it’s an amazing opportunity to give back in any way that we can. For this specific workshop and with Mother’s Day around the corner, it only seemed fitting that we ask our guests to bring in an assortment of feminine toiletries, to help make these women feel a little more beautiful than they already are. Often times, these women just want to feel beautiful – and what better way to do that then to give them a little something to brighten up their day? It warms our hearts to know that this is only the beginning of a beautiful and fulfilling journey…

Inspiration Every Boho Bride Needs to See

I usually gravitate towards the classic camp when it comes to wedding design, but this shoot from Danielle PoffDanae Grace EventsWilder Floral Co., and so many more has me wholeheartedly reconsidering. They intertwined boho and modern design for a shoot any wedding lover would adore, and I’m officially never leaving the gallery.

From Danae Grace EventsInspired by the modern and bohemian Palm Springs flair, we wanted to create a more garden style approach with some refined elements. Using the Pantone Colors of the year as our base color palette we did incorporated more bold tones with the ferns and bougainvillea to brighten up the overall look. We still wanted to use some bohemian elements to pull it all together and the dreamcatchers by Dream Catchers LLC were a perfect touch! We used them as place cards and as the escort display numbers which we hope inspires other brides to consider using them!

If You Gave A Girl A Saw is an up and coming incredible wood worker who created the stunning escort display backdrop. Borrowed Blu aways has the most beautiful pieces and the marble chargers, southwestern plates, flatware and goblets were perfect and tied everything together.

All of the vendors who collaborated did such a beautiful job capturing our vision and we hope this inspires brides who love soft tones but to pull in some pops of colors and out of the box elements.

This Online Editor Planned the Ultimate Offline Celebration

Most Brides and Grooms plan an after party to keep the celebration going all night. But if you ask me, what this Bride (an editor at Real Simple) and Groom chose to do is so much more fun! After their New York City-inspired I Dos (apple escort cards and a Momofuku Milk Bar cake), they headed to the adjacent bowling alley, where the party continued, Jenny Packham wedding dress and all. See all the fun from Sarah Tew Photography and Crown Street Productions in The Vault!

Modern

From The Bride…I met John in a bar while we were both journalism graduate students at Northwestern University. We were friends for a few months, but we didn’t start dating until two days before I moved to London for an internship. We spent that summer exchanging emails, and he finally came to visit me over Labor Day. That kicked off two years of long distance dating—I moved to New York City to pursue a career in journalism, and he stayed in Chicago to work for a start-up that had formed out of his graduate school work. Finally, in September 2011, John moved to NYC.

We both love the city— it’s where we live and work, and it’s the first city we lived in together. It’s where we cemented our relationship and where we got engaged in November 2014, on a bridge in Central Park that we love. We knew even before we got engaged that we wanted to celebrate our wedding in NYC. I felt strongly about choosing a venue that showcased the city, and I fell in love with Current at Chelsea Piers when it was still just a construction site. I loved how it juxtaposed the natural beauty of the Hudson River with the sparkling lights of the city, plus it promised a sleek, modern design with a showstopper of a ceiling. It felt like our favorite parts of the city mashed together, and, as West Siders, the idea of having a wedding on the Hudson River was especially appealing.

Visiting Current in the months before our wedding and watching it morph from a construction site to a venue made it feel like our project. I wanted the space to look both lush and urban. The first element I knew I wanted was a floating Chuppah, with candles and flowers (which Atlas Floral Decorators brought from my imagination to life). I’m Jewish and John is Catholic, so this modern take on the traditional felt like just the right centerpiece for our ceremony.

While the big picture of planning was, of course, important, I really wanted the small details to bring everything together. A few of my favorites: We used apples as escort cards, with paper “leaves” pinned to the top (a nod to the fall season and, of course, the Big Apple). We both love playing games, so we used Jenga pieces as a guest book, asking people sign their names and include their best advice or a memory (we’ve loved playing our custom game in the months after the wedding). And as a journalist, paper details are extremely important to me, so I worked with a designer on a custom, graphical program and a playful menu for the tables.

Rather than having one big centerpiece on the tables, we used several flower vessels, with lots of candles, for visual interest and different points of entry for the eye. I tried to keep the focus on rich, fall colors, with touches of metallic silver. Abigail Kirsch is known for having lots of food, and they did not disappoint. From the inventive appetizers (mac and cheese cupcakes! pumpkin soup shooters!) all the way to the pizza and pretzel cart on departure, our guests left stuffed. We also love visiting Momofuku Milk Bar on the Upper West Side, so choosing their apple pie wedding cake was one of our easiest decisions.

On the day of the wedding, we took photos at The Highline—one more great example of the natural meeting the modern. Our mutual friend, Angela, became ordained for the occasion—she brought us together more than six years ago in graduate school, so it only felt appropriate that she bring us together in this official way. Everyone warned me that the ceremony would be a blur, but for me it was one of the clearest memories from the day—we delivered our own vows and we each had one of our siblings give a reading, which was especially meaningful. Afterward, we danced all night to Element Music’s Radio Underground—my family and friends are big dancers, so finding the right music was a must. And, because we weren’t ready for the party to end, we finished the night by bowling (yes, in my wedding dress) at Bowlmor in Chelsea Piers.

The One Cocktail Every Mommy Needs

I know for a fact there were plenty of things I did to make my mama want to pull her hair out over the years, including getting in cars with boys. Hence why she’d indulge in an extra Kahlua Sombrero on those days. If only she would have known about this concoction from The Effortless Chic and Kara Elise! It’s next level latte goodness that will cure all those Mom-moments you just. can’t. anymore. Don’t Amanda Gallant‘s shots make you want to grab one off that tray? Get the recipe below!

Gin + Lavender Latte
prep time

total time
Serves 0Ingredients
  • 4 shots of espresso (we used the illy medium roast capsules)
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 tbsp. culinary lavender (plus more for garnish)
  • 4 oz. gin
  • Cinnamon or nutmeg for dusting (optional)
Instructions
  1. Over medium heat combine water and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and add lavender. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat and allow to cool for 15-20. Pour into a bottle or jar. This step can be completed up to 5 days in advance and you can use this lavender simple syrup in all kinds of other baked goods or on top of pancakes or waffles! Yum!
  2. Using your espresso maker pull two shots for each glass, add 1 tablespoon of lavender simple syrup, 2 ounces of gin, and fill the remainder of the glass with steamed almond milk. Top with foam, extra lavender, and a light dusting of cinnamon or nutmeg if you wish!

The ‘Something Old’ That Moved This Grandma-Of-The-Bride to Tears

The look on this grandmother’s face? It’s absolutely everything. It’s the reaction to seeing her granddaughter, Shannon wearing the wedding dress she wore 50 years earlier as Shannon walked down the aisle. Emily Steffen captured these sweet moments worth a thousand words and we’re taking cues from this bride and honoring mothers (and grandmothers!) everywhere today on SMP. Mamas, let’s raise a glass to you!

From Emily Steffen PhotographyGrandma’s first glimpse of Shannon as she came around the corner wearing her 50-year-old wedding dress brought her to tears. Her hand clasped over her mouth and her eyes filled with tears as she looked at her husband out of the corner of her eye. Grandma couldn’t get the awe and wonder off her face the rest of the night…she was elated that Shannon chose to wear such a precious piece of her story into the beginning of their own! :)

Shannon and Dave planned a FABULOUS day filled with meaningful traditions, favorite family recipes (YAY for midwestern salads, yum) and loads of love! And Norskedalen was the perfect location for their big day; lush with greenery, tall trees and the most wonderful open space for their outdoor dance party under as the strung lights and twinkling stars in the warm summer night sky!
