April Showers Bring (Parisian) May Flowers

Even on the wettest gray day, Paris still manages to take our breath away. Take this elegant inspiration captured by Lara Lam Photography as proof. Drenched in elegance and irresistible Seniman Calligraphy, we’ve got every minute of magic waiting for you in The Vault!

From Luxe Paris EventsWe all know what they say about Spring time in Paris…What few know is how unpredictable the weather can be. Maybe it is bright and sunny or perhaps grey and gloomy but Paris is in fact always a good idea. When planning a Paris wedding or elopement in the early months of spring make sure you bring along an umbrella. While its practical it also provides a chic vintage inspired accessory that you might just actually need. This shoot was all about sharing the experience of an elopement in Paris with your “better half;” from getting ready through the photo tour after your ceremony and taking a stroll through the city while dressed to your wedding day “nines.” No first looks, no planned photos just capturing your love but with the unmistakable style that is the city of love behind it all. This city is an explosion of history, beauty and above all else details…a simple lamp post, an old cathedral or a sculpture where you least expect it.

The Only Way to Celebrate an Engagement? Champagne of Course!

Time to break open a bottle of the good stuff (translation: all the champagne) because we’re toasting to this lovely pair. For Ryan and Candace planned the sweetest celebratory engagement session with Elizabeth Fogarty behind the lens and we’ve got it all waiting for you to relish in The Vault!

From Elizabeth FogartyRyan and Candace are just the sweetest couple ever! Ryan wanted to re-create their proposal night by bringing the bottle of Don Perignon to their engagement session. Candace had a perfect little pink Mrs. Box for her GORGEOUS ring. I love when my brides think about the styling details for their engagement session. You do not have to go crazy on Pinterest trying to find props, but little things that mean something to you as a couple is always key. Having a couple of items (like a ring box and a blanket) helps you get more styled images. Also, let’s talk about how perfect this ring is! These two totally rocked their engagement session!

Calling All Coffee Cuties: This San Fran E-Shoot Is For You

Having been together for 15 years, this couple decided to elope to San Fran to make it official, but before heading to City Hall (and we have pics of that chic occasion coming tomorrow!) they did a little engagement shoot around town with Jasmine Lee, and let’s just say these pics are what I like to call postcard worthy. Fall in love with these coffee drinking cuties in our Vault right here!

From the Bride… Dennis and I have been together since we were seventeen and after many wonderful years as a couple, we got engaged and flew to San Francisco to elope. These photos were taken two days before our ceremony at City Hall and depict a beautiful day in San Francisco that we will always remember. We had to research locations from afar but knew we wanted to photograph in places where we felt the most natural. The cafe was the perfect casual setting, a place to just sit down for a chat and enjoy heart-warming coffee. The barista kindly created heart-shaped latte art in my favourite red “love” mug – something that Dennis had given me ages ago that was a little piece of home we brought with us to SF. Golden Gate Park was our second location and was full of beauty and character. The park was lush and had this magical way of dispersing light, an aspect that was so delicately and beautifully captured by our photographer, Jasmine Lee.

This day perfectly complemented our wedding day and we’re so happy that these moments were captured in our place of marriage. San Francisco will always have a special place in our hearts.

Meet Our New Blogger Bride “Love You, Mean It”

You know how we feel about adding a new blogger bride to the SMP family, so this Tuesday morning we’ve got good vibes ALL around. Dallas fashion and lifestyle blogger, Allison of Love You, Mean It is kicking off her journey down the aisle, and she’s going to be sharing stories from the wedding planning trenches, right alongside you. Read her engagement story below, and get excited for lots more fun ahead.

Hello, Brides-to-be! My name is Ali and I am the face and voice behind Love You, Mean It, a fashion and lifestyle blog based in Dallas, Texas. My site is all about my life as a woman in her mid-twenties learning how to start my own business, plan a wedding, and all the other things life throws my way.

That being said, my blog hasn’t always been about fashion and lifestyle. I originally started the site as, believe it our not, a wedding blog! Growing up, my dream was to become a wedding planner. I loved the idea of helping two people make their dream day become a reality. I guess you could say I’m a hopeless romantic because one of my favorite pastimes is to get lost in hours of proposal videos online. Seeing as you are here, I bet you can relate!

The summer between my junior and senior years of college, I interned in New York City for event designer and wedding planner Preston Bailey. As Preston’s social media intern, I was inspired to create my very own blog and Love You, Mean It was born!

I am so excited and honored that I get to share my wedding planning journey with you here. I grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and cannot wait to return to my hometown for our wedding next May. To say I’ve given my wedding day some thought would be an understatement, but none of this would be possible without my fiancé, Ben!

A photo posted by Ali Hollins (@alihollins) on

Ben and I met on November 5, 2011. I remember it like it was yesterday! I was enjoying my last year as an undergrad and Ben had just started his first year of graduate school at Southern Methodist University. A few of our friends had met previously and we were introduced during the homecoming tailgate. We parted our separate ways, but as fate would have it, we would run into each other again later that day and from then on, the rest is history!

On a sunny day this past February, Ben asked me to come over to his house for lunch. Seeing as this was nothing out of the ordinary, I showed up with no expectations other than a turkey sandwich. When I arrived, Ben had prepared a beautiful spread and right before we were about to eat, he got down on one knee right there in the kitchen! He could have popped the question anywhere, but he knew that proposing in our home would make our engagement a special memory we would be reminded of daily.

what a day!

Why Decorating with Neutrals will Never Ever Go Out of Style

Danielle Moss is not only the co-founder of The Everygirl and the blogger behind Danielle-Moss.com but she’s also a graphic designer, interior stylist and a photographer too. It’s no wonder that her new Chicago apartment is the kind of good stuff that pinterest dreams are made of. With a gorgeous, neutral palette, it is a mix of modern, scandinavian and just plain chic. Tour the full space captured by Danielle plus a video by Jenna Kutcher and see Danielle’s original apartment tour here.

I’ve been in Chicago almost 6 years (this August) and live with my rescue dog, Buddy. This is my 5th Chicago apartment, and one I had to get out of a lease for.

This is my 5th Chicago apartment, andI moved to Lakeview last fall after finding someone to sublet my old place when this Europe-meets-pinterest dream of an apartment fell in my lap.

I’ve always had a thing for neutrals and had recently gotten very into getting rid of the stuff and clothes that I don’t really love or need, which inspired my very neutral and somewhat minimalist style.

Living Room

Paint Colo: Stonington Grey, Benjamin Moore | Sofa: The Everygirl Caitlin Sofa for Interior Define | Chair: The Everygirl Rose Chair for Interior Define | Coffee Table: Vintage | Art: Artfully Walls | Ceiling fixture: Retrofurnish | Grey pillow: Susan Connor | White and grey pillow: Susan Connor | Striped pillow: Found Home | Rug: West Elm | Painting: Meredith Sands | Floor Lamp: West Elm | Chairs: Lulu and Georgia | Moroccan pouf: Wayfair | Media Console: CB2 | Record Player: Uturn Audio | Horns: Lulu and Georgia | Linen Curtains: Pottery Barn | Faux Sheepskin: Joss and Main | Pineapple: Found at a flea market in Argentina | Mirror: Ikea (discontinued) | Basket: Home Goods | Plant: Jayson Home | Side table: Vintage | Table lamp: Vintage

Decorating in my usual palette of white and grey was always in the cards for me, but not displaying tons of accessories and books was new, and is something I’ve really embraced.

I went from a grey english roll-arm back to a white linen sofa, which is from our newest collaboration with Interior Define, and added pillows from Found Home and Susan Connor. Since I don’t really have any color in my home, I brought in some pattern and texture, from linen and jute to (faux) mongolian fur and sheepskins.

Dining Room

Table: Wayfair | Chairs: Joss and Main | Rug: Wayfair | Marble Pot: Jayson Home | Candle: Diptyque | Bar Cart: Vintage | Copper Wine Opener: Williams-Sonoma

While I have quite a few pieces from bigger stores like West Elm and CB2, it’s really important to me that I mix in at least one unique or vintage piece in each room.

My coffee table, desk, dresser, and bar cart are all vintage, as are a few mirrors and a few pieces of art. Having that one piece that stands out as uniquely mine, along with a few small objects I’ve picked up while traveling, is what makes my home really feel like my own.

Kitchen

Rug: West Elm | Marble Board: Williams-Sonoma | Cutting Board: Williams-Sonoma | Hand Soap: Williams-Sonoma | Copper Colander: Wayfair | Dish Towels: Williams-Sonoma | Marble Utensil Holder: Williams-Sonoma | Mixer: Kitchenaid | Peek Print: Minted | Table: West Elm (old) | Chairs: Crate and Barrel

Staircase and Hallway

Console: CB2 | Owl Print: Artfully walls | Vase: Lulu and Georgia | Black Arrow Print: Artfully walls | Basket: Target | Head Sculpture: Vintage | Leaf Lines Print: Silke Bonde | Forrest Floor Print: Silke Bonde | Paris Photograph: Danielle Moss for The Everygirl | Framing: Framebridge | Memphis Jane Print: Minted | Visionary 2 Print: Minted | Sable Song Print: Minted| Blackbird Print: Minted | Silhouette: Vintage | Indigo Blot Test Print: Artfully walls | Strokes from Renaissance: Minted

My advice for anyone looking to redecorate their home is to remember, as cliche as this sounds, that Rome wasn’t built in a day. I moved to Chicago with a mattress and dresser almost six years ago and slowly bought pieces as I could afford them.

Putting an entire room together can be daunting, but slowly picking up pieces you love and tying everything together is what’s worked for me. And scouring flea markets and antique shops for that one amazing gem is so worth it.

You’d Never Believe This Wedding Wasn’t Actually in Italy

Take everything you love about a Tuscan-style wedding – think gorgeous garland, organic, loose bouquets, and olive branch details and pair it with black tie elegance. The result? This wedding designed by So Eventful. You’d never know this Italian-inspired day actually took place in Sonoma, and we’re happily welcoming the images from Michele Beckwith into The Vault.

From The Bride…Under the guidance of Marisa (planner), our florist and vendors, we chose a soft color palette that would complement our “Tuscan black tie” wedding aesthetic and highlight the already beautiful Mayacama backdrop. Aubriana Kasper at The Bloomery Co. hit the nail on the head with gorgeous green garlands, organic and loose bouquets and a show-stopping ceremony arch. Greg’s love and extensive knowledge of animals was brought to life through the magical watercolor paintings by the Maid of Honor Eva Babiak. Bridesmaid Danielle McWaters custom-designed the invitation suite and all wedding-related paper goods, including the olive oil gift tags. Grandparents of the bride donated their own Machado Vineyards’ olive oil to be “bottled with love” and set at each guest’s place setting…Greg’s groomsmen walked out to the Game of Thrones theme, and we recessed in celebration with a favorite Brazilian samba song played by samba drummers leading guests to cocktail hour. Thanks to friends, family, vendors, Mayacama, and the incredible So Eventful team we had an unforgettable wedding weekend at a venue that we will return to again and again to relive the beautiful memories of our special day.

Pink Champagne + Swans = Best. Day. Ever.

As far as anyone is concerned, this early morning bridal party inspiration is the best idea yet. Pink champagne? Loads of it. A few special feathered guests? Absolutely. We’ve got all the pretty (and more) captured by Lara Lam and effortlessly styled by Kyla Gold waiting for you in The Vault!

From Kyla GoldFor this bridal shoot we drew our inspiration from the romantic details of the monumental Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco and the swan lagoon. We kept the design fresh, simple and elegant with a mixture of blush tones accented with gold and white details. We hope to create inspirations and gift ideas for a warm and sweet gathering between the bride and bridesmaids. Often times the bridesmaids are the best friends of the bride and their love and support plays an important part. We’d like to inspire all the bride-to-be that – an elegantly styled breakfast with lovely gifts and flowers could be a beautiful opening prelude for the wedding!

Seniman Calligraphy created a beautiful custom invitation suite in gold ink and a special bottle of rosé with hand calligraphy for our custom bridesmaid gift baskets. We also filled the bridesmaid baskets with a pink and gold mini emergency kit from Pinch Provisions and lovely sweets from Sugarfina. Bowerbird Atelier created a beautiful table arrangement and hand tied bouquets in soft pinks and white with fresh greens. Skyla Arts and Makeup by Quis kept the girls look fresh and feminine to compliment the lovely Dessy and Jim Hjelm gowns provided by Weddington Way. Lara’s film captured the soft details of the bridal shoot at this stunning landmark.

Taylor Swift Crashed Her Biggest Fans’ Wedding and it was BEYOND Sweet

Swifties, hold onto your seats, because Tay Tay‘s really outdone herself this time. After learning the heart-wrenching story of New Jersey groom Max Singer – who wed his wife in his mother’s hospital room – Swift dropped everything to surprise the newlyweds in a seriously big way.

After coordinating for months with Max’s sister, Swift performed “Blank Space” (the song Max and his mother danced to before she passed) at the couple’s reception. The “Shake It Off” singer then stuck around to pose for goofy photos, captioning her own adorkable Instagram “Third wheel.”

High-Tops and a Designer Dress — How a Stylish Blogger Says “I Do”

A glamorous Jenny Packham wedding dress and a pair of high-top Converse — only a super stylish Bride, like blogger Lady Flashbackcould pull it off. And she does. But that’s not the only cool factor of this Georgia wedding. From the vintage horse-drawn plow turned ceremony arbor to mini wedding cakes in a variety of yummy flavors, this day from Ben And Colleen is full of rustic wedding inspiration. See it all in The Vault!

From Ben And Colleen…Jess (lifestyle blogger Lady Flashback and Dustin (mechanical engineer) met at the Shaky Knees music festival in Atlanta Georgia. It was pouring rain and they spent the day huddled under a broken umbrella (which they kept and later walked down the aisle with just after the kiss!)

Jess planned every bit of her wedding herself, down to the last detail.

From The Bride…Hair and makeup by A Glamour Affair who did a fantastic job on me and all my ladies! Everyone came with a photo for the stylists and it was replicated perfectly. We were all impressed with their work!

I don’t know what I would have done without my girls there helping, calming, hanging and making me laugh. Meanwhile the guys were out in the pasture shooting skeet like true Southern gentlemen! Even if you’re not into guns, this is pretty sexy!

This activity was such a nice touch to the day and all the guys really enjoyed the bonding! At the end of the day my dad gifted the above gun to Dustin. It’s special because it was the gun his dad (my Papa Joe who passed away many years ago) shot his first deer with and it’s a Winchester (which is my new last name) model 12. Meant a lot to both of us. The grooms suite was so fitting! It had a taxidermy deer head and a gun safe, the ultimate man cave!! Dustin made tie clips for his groomsmen and himself and I think you’d agree-they turned out great! Couple’a Google searches and a stamping kit and he was off! Love his DIY spirit!

Before we walked down the isle we got in our group shots between all the Fall goodness happening in the front yard. How great did everyone’s dresses look together??!! Not only did it make things so easy but I love the outcome of giving the ladies the freedom to choose their style and fit! And for the guys, we rented the suits and gave the ties as a gift along with the DIY’d clips.

Evan Leggoe handled the floral design for the wedding. We met up and chatted about what I liked and from there she came up with a game plan and shopping list that I bought at a wholesale place in town. Day before the wedding Dustin and I picked up the flowers and had them waiting for her at the venue. On the day of she did everything onsite and KILLED IT. Just wait till you see the arbor! She made my arbor dreams come true! Bet you’re wondering what the actual structure is, I didn’t have a clue until it was explained to me that it’s an old horse-drawn plow. We thought it was so unique and loved the idea of going a different route but still giving me the arbor I wanted.

The invitations were home-made using a cyanotype process invite that Mom and I put in lots of sweat (no blood or tears included but we came close) into, then Dustin worked long and hard to stamp. We love how they turned out!

When it came to the reception decor I knew exactly what I wanted. Not joking when I say I illustrated out in Photoshop what I envisioned the tables looking like. Obviously couldn’t do it myself so it was left up to those organizing the florals and props and they (ahem, Evan) nailed it in every way! When we were doing our portrait session I got a glimpse of the crew working on the tables and was over joyed because I realized it was all coming together flawlessly. Chargers, flatware and linens rented through Sun in my Belly and the sugar molds and decor rented through venue.

Because we picked the pasture as our ceremony location we had to have something to drive myself and my dad to the alter otherwise it would have been a long walk or golf cart ride. Sweet Meadows had posted a wedding on their blog a while ago that used this old taxi cab a local resident had restored. I fell in love and asked if we could track down the guy. He agreed and was really sweet. So glad it worked out because it was truly perfect for the transportation and photos!

Having Dad in the ride to the ceremony made for some special memories. He’s a big time goofball and was doing all these ridiculous things making me laugh which helped the nerves! I was sad that neither Dustin nor I had grandparents at the wedding but so grateful to have all our parents by our side.

There were aspects of our wedding that were non-traditional because well, we are millennials and that’s how we roll! For example, our friend Kyle got certified and married us. He added humor and kept the mood fun and relaxing-perfect man for the job!

I’ll be honest, I was FREEZING! It really affected being able to remember the vows, haha! But we laughed our way through it and had a good time.

Speaking of vows, we did the whole hear and repeat deal. We knew we’d both be full of so many emotions (I’m a wedding cryer) so we opted for the more chill route which was perfect!

Lastly, the best part, THE PARTY!

After the ceremony we moved the guests up to the barn for happy hour and apps while Dustin and I finished up photos with our family. Then we made our grand entrance with a first dance as husband and wife. We chose our favorite song, “Closer” by St Lucia. It was unrehearsed and fun! We know all the lyrics and sang them to one another between laughs.

“I’ve got a feeling we will never get closer than this
I can’t imagine there’s a way to get closer than this”

-Seemed very appropriate!

Following our dance and mingling for a 15-20 minutes Dustin and I each grabbed a signature cocktail and went off and had that private meal. Our caterer was the wildly popular and local Sun in My Belly. They did a fantastic job with not only the food but also the set up and handling of the flow. I know that people want to make you feel good about your wedding but we had sooooo many attendees tell us the food was the best they’ve ever had at a wedding and then tell us they weren’t just saying that! Seriously, they crushed the menu! Our favorite app was the fried green tomato topped with pimento cheese and favorite entree was the shrimp and grits-can you tell we are both Southerners??!!

Since our venue was over an hour outside of the city it made finding a wedding cake that didn’t require a $100-$150 travel fee difficult. After lots and lots of email let downs I decided to go with an easier idea – multiple smaller cakes that could be easily transported. So glad we went with this route! We used Metro Bakery and asked friends to pick up for us. They were delicious and gave our guests plenty of options! I only tried two, the lemon zinger (lemon cake, raspberry filling, lemon cream cheese frosting) and cuatro leches (yellow cake soaked in four milks, kahlua buttercream frosting)-both moist and packed with flavor!

We had the traditional list of speeches before the real party went down. Since it had started sprinkling and everyone was inside we all just stood around the barn making it more casual which I really liked! Dustin and I love to dance and so do our friends! At one point they formed a circle around us and would jump in to have a dance with him, me or BOTH! So many special moments to cherish.

From Love Is My Favorite Color… Rebekah and Leigh travelled all the way from Australia to get married at the Bride’s parents’ hometown in Portugal.

Rebekah was born in Australia but never lost sight of her Portuguese roots. In fact, that particular aspect set the mood for the entire wedding. They wanted their guests to witness the raw beauty of their ancestor’s little village, show them some of the most amazing Portuguese traditions and lure them with the amazing food and unforgettable wine the Portuguese are also known for.

Rebekah and Leigh are the sweetest couple on earth and one of the kindest we’ve ever met. Most of all, they wanted everyone to feel welcome, at home and at ease. The love they have for each other spread around creating a very romantic and relaxed atmosphere.

Blending gems like Balenciaga shoes, Silk and Willow ribbons, The Mrs Box, Tiffany’s jewelry, and Dior accessories in such a rustic environment definitely gave them a new and unexpected twist! Beauty really is everywhere, you just have to look around with good eyes.

Setting up a luxurious tent in her parents garden which offered the perfect setting for their day, the colour palette also gives a perfect node to the Pantone 2016 colours.

Her ‘maids looked so stunning in their wrap dresses which created perfect formal portraits. Holly’s dress was custom made by renowned British designer Suzanne Neville, it created the perfect silhouette for her delicate frame. I loved how they both kept aspects personal like having Holly’s mother’s flower club decorate the tent and Paul wearing his father in laws tails. This was a classically British day which provides inspiration for any bride wanting to create a timeless yet beautiful day.

Now this is how you throw a Chic Pool Party

Sometimes a pool party entails an elegant and chic cocktail party with a fabulous pool in the background. No bathing suits at this shindig but instead poolside cocktails, a long gorgeous table and guests dressed to the nines. This welcome home party crafted by Chassity Evans + Marni Rothschild and Gayle Brooker is the playbook for how to host a summer party; adorable pool floats included. See the full affair from cocktails to yummy dessert right here.

Gayle, Chassity and I threw this party in honor of our dear friends Charlotte & Stephan who just returned to Charleston after a short stint living in Argentina. They had the urge to explore, so they rented out their home here in Charleston, packed up their two young children and relocated to Argentina for about 2 months.

Charlotte documented it quite well on her blog and instagram (like what they did and how they did it) and it was really just so very inspiring to all of us back home following along. Their biggest take away after assimilating into the Latin American culture was to spend more time with friends.

Hence the welcome home party we threw in their honor. We were also all dying for an opportunity to hear about their travels because they made it look so effortless and fun!

The menu from Cru catering was Argentinian inspired and we served Caipirinhas, Brazil’s national cocktail. We wanted a bright and summery color palate and Out of the Garden made beautiful flower arrangements bursting with color that included lemons, garden roses, tulips and orchids.

Our fabulously talented friend Chris Teves played Latin guitar music during cocktail hour and dinner table conversation centered on family and travels. Charleston has such a mild climate and we designed our house specifically to entertain on the porch overlooking the pool garden. It was truly a perfect evening with friends. Afterwards we all vowed to make more time to enjoy cocktails and camaraderie!

See Why Old World Glamour Is New Again

Good news, I’ve found the staircase to heaven and it’s all thanks to the talented team that is The Bloom of Time and Taryn Leach Events. A glamorous inspiration shoot complete with ethereal gowns, Jill Velez calligraphy, and one stunning venue, this gallery is sure to prove why old glamour is new again. See it all captured by the massively talented Rebecca Yale Photography in The Vault!

From Taryn Leach Events + Rebecca Yale Photography….This editorial was a true labor of love that we had such a joy dreaming up together. We took our inspiration from Saint Francis, a breathtaking chapel built from old brick and carved stone, radiated an old-worldy beauty that you might expect to find in an intimate European village. Nestled in the lush, wooded eucalyptus trees atop the plunging seaside cliffs of Palos Verdes, CA it was hard to imagine a more inspiring location for a shoot. With Old World beauty as the foundation of our design, we drew inspiration from art history and architectural movements in Europe during the medieval and renaissance time periods to create our concept. The period undertones allowed us to implement a regal element with our strong presence of golds and brass throughout the shoot, as well as the many gorgeous crowns and hair adornments that we were thrilled to feature. We incorporated couture gowns from Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra, Marchesa and Watters to show the modern bride how she can draw inspiration from the Old World, but update it with modern couture. Our bridesmaids wore couture gowns by Marchesa, Reem Acra and BHLDN as a high fashion alternative to the matching bridesmaids gowns. We embraced the juxtaposition of an unpredictable ocean in our moody color palette and wild, weedy florals, while portraying the natural serenity of the coastal fog at sunrise on a quiet morning.
