We Played With Diamonds in Vegas And Here’s What Happened

If there’s one thing I learned at JCK Las V egas last week (a.k.a. heaven), it’s that a picture can’t do justice to a gorgeous engagement ring, especially one from Scott Kay. With exquisite, sparkly details from every angle, every one of Scott Kay‘s rings are beautiful, but they’re aren’t just another pretty piece of jewelry — each ring, from any one of his six signature collections, represents love, marriage and #ALifeTogether!

As I walked through the Scott Kay lounge, I couldn’t help but get a little snap happy with my phone’s camera. I mean you try walking through a room full of gorgeous diamonds without stopping to take a picture of each and every one. But as I flipped through my pictures later that night, I realized that no picture could capture all the beautiful details on a Scott Kay ring. If I took a birds-eye-view photo of the ring on my finger, you missed out on the intricate designs on the ring’s profile that give it a major “wow” factor unlike any other. And if I took a picture of the profile view, you couldn’t appreciate the signature Scott Kay sparkle.

So, what’s a girl to do? Head into one of Scott Kay‘s retailers to try on the dazzling diamonds for yourself!

When You’re a Fashion Industry Bride, One Designer Wedding Dress Simply Isn’t Enough

When I get married, it’s going to be all about the dress. So this gorgeous Bride, with her not one, but two, stunning designer gowns — one for the rehearsal dinner and one for the wedding — is a woman after my own heart. After all, I’ll take any excuse to wear a Carolina Herrera or Delphine Manivet masterpiece. See all the pretty, captured by Jimena Roquero and Helher Escribano, in The Vault!

From Jimena Roquero…Elena & Eduardo’s wedding in Ibiza was the event all their families and friends were waiting for the whole year. A three-day wedding with live music, cabaret show, sunsets from a boat, paella in the beach and all happening in the amazing island of Ibiza!

Elena works in fashion so she couldn’t resist to pick a gorgeous Carolina Herrera gown even though she thought it was not the most Ibiza look. Instead, she picked a total Ibiza look for the rehearsal dinner on the boat with a light and delicate design from Delphine Manivet.

Elena & Eduardo organized a fun rehearsal dinner at the beach and the invited all their guests on a ride on the boat where they were able to enjoy the magical Ibiza sunset. The day of the wedding, Elena got ready at her family house. The ceremony was celebrated in a very typical Ibiza church, with a completely white facade and they even had local dancers performing for them on their way out.

The cutest part was when Elena drove a vintage yellow citroen all the way to the reception venue, La Escollera. A chic and trendy restaurant by the beach that they decorated with color lighting and where they fed and entertained almost 400 guests until the party was over!

Every Engagement Session Needs This Flower Crown

If there’s one thing we love, it’s a good floral crown. And this engagement session? Filled with all the things we L.O.V.E. A blooming halo of heavenly blooms complimented and a sweeter than sweet couple, we’ve got all that and more from Nikki Santerre Photography waiting for you in The Vault!

From Nikki Santerre PhotographySwannanoa Palace has something hauntingly romantic about it that radiates from the structure. When Jessica and Colby decided on this location for their engagement session, I knew it would be the perfect venue. The marble dates back to the Italian Renaissance era, each piece brought over individually and carefully placed. It reminds me so much of Jessica and Colby’s story…classic love built with intention and gentleness over time.

These images are filled with a sweet intimacy as Jessica and Colby soak up every moment together this Spring. Colby is deploying in May, and they both are looking forward to his safe return home for their 2017 wedding celebration.

See How This Nautical Celebration Paints a Pretty Picture (Literally)

Considering the fact that I live in New England, it’s no shocker that nautical weddings are my jam, and this celebration from Emily Delamater? It’s all kinds of amazing. From the majorly monumental portrait crafted by Serena Martin Design, to the stunning scenery, we’ve got all that and more waiting for you in The Vault!

From Serena Martin Design… The quiet and charming town of Kennebunkport, Maine was the perfect backdrop for the romantic nuptials of these two college sweethearts.

Julia and Braden created an effortlessly chic September wedding and fabulous party. Julia wore an elegant lace dress by Ramona Keveza reminiscent of Grace Kelly circa Cannes 1955. Julia possesses an elegance that does not cry out to be noticed, but rather radiates through her subtlety, which in our days of selfie culture, is a nice breath of fresh air.

In keeping with her personal style, Julia created an elegant, romantic evening with a touch of classic New England charm. She kept her colors clean and simple, opting for blushes, pale pinks and a touch of navy throughout, letting her florals and decor complement the natural beauty of the seaside setting.

Forget Gold – This Wedding Proves Silver is Just As Pretty

You first met our girl Abby Silverman and her beau Tom for their Pittsburgh engagement session, and today we’re peeking into their modern ballroom wedding infused with shades of silver. Abby drew her inspiration through countless trips to The Vault and made certain every last detail was styled, chic and personal to them. Check out Michaelwill Photography’s pretty captures and scroll below for more ideas to add a touch of silver to your wedding day.

From The Bride… Tom (the hubby) and I met at Syracuse University in 2008 (almost eight years to the day we tied the knot). Tom, was an graduating senior and I was a outgoing sophomore. Needless to say, when we first met, the idea of getting married was well… not on our minds. However after eight years, countless miles of long distance driving and several apartments between us, we made it official!

Never have I ever felt so prepared and so unprepared for what was ahead of me. However, someone asked me recently what I would change and I couldn’t think of a thing! Sure, there were hiccups along the way, but nothing else mattered when I saw Tom for the first time and I walked down the aisle with my dad (to Kisses and Cake from P.S. I Love You).

Tom and I were very lucky! We had the support of our incredible friends, family and a team of AMAZING vendors who helped to take our idea’s and make them a wedding-bliss reality. Choosing the right team (and I mean it, they are your team) is so important. Getting married in a hotel ballroom has its challenges, but with the help of Hens and Chicks decorating the space to perfection with succulents, peonies, earl gray roses and countless other blooms and Michael Will capturing every moment, it was nothing short of breathtaking.

Some words of advice from a former bride to future brides: Enjoy every moment! Even if that’s spray painting Ikea picture frames silver and realizing you only ordered enough for seven tables (we had 15 tables). Things happen and what really matters is in that moment of chaos appreciate how special and momentous it all is – because seriously – it’s over in a flash … but totally worth the extra car ride to Ikea.

From the Bride… My husband and I met in Florence, Italy while out enjoying aperitivo with our mutual friends from college. After three nights full of laughs and Italian wine with all of our friends, Chad was returning back to America, since he was only there for a brief trip. I had immediately fallen in love with Chad the moment I met him, and we know we had to start a long-distance relationship with the hopes of one day being together again. Well after three and a half years of snail mail, skype, and a “few” weekend trips to Florence and NYC, I made the big move to Texas to finally be with the one I love most. Within one and a half more amazing years in Texas, we bought a beautiful home together, rescued two spunky kitties, and got engaged!

I had never felt so elated and euphoric in my life and I never wanted to lose that feeling, I wanted to keep it between the two of us. Of course we had to tell our families so that we could all celebrate the amazing news together, so we shared the news and celebrate we did! Once we all came to our senses the planning started. At first it was Scotland or Ireland, and then the idea of a Backyard Black-Tie, but finally we realized what it needed to be, Italian in the most true and organic way.

Soon we found the perfect location in Deep River, CT, the Lace Factory. You could not find a more authentic, historic, perfectly aged building, on the Connecticut River, at the bottom of the mountain, surrounded by serine foliage. This place was an absolute dream. Quickly my mom and I got to work with the most incredible wedding planner in CT, Sarah Taggart of A Polished Plan. Both my mom and I had strong visions of what we wanted and with that Sarah was able to bring together the dream team of wedding planning.

We were incredibly fortunate that the owner, Andrea, of the Lace Factory is also the owner of the catering at Cloud 9. Andrea had recently returned from a vacation in Italy and was inspired to create a new menu that was authentic, fresh, and full of the incredible Italian flavors Chad and I love so much. To really top off the cake, she offered to make homemade lemoncello, and she even made a new cake flavor for me, chai spice with mascarpone butter cream! Yes, I was on cloud 9, the food in my life could not have been more divine.

When we started talking about flowers, I initially did not want many, it just didn’t appeal to me as a priority in a wedding. Honestly my husband and I are not huge fans of manicured florals, but thankfully my mom and Sarah knew better. Sarah introduced us to Beth from Blush, and what we saw in her little studio was inspirational. She opened our eyes to the lush side and her talents truly transformed the wedding. She created the most elegant and earthy centerpieces but brought so much personality and quirkiness to them. There were artichokes in the center of a flower arrangements, she also introduced succulents wherever she could, and single bud vases for a touch of fragility.

What was a priority for me was photography. I was so excited when we found Salwa Photography in NYC. Chad and I were able to plan a trip to NYC and meet Anna, one of the owners. She has the most charming, energetic and endearing personalities, that I knew she would be a perfect match for us. One of Chad and I’s favorite directors is Wes Anderson, and I also have a love for black and white photography, and with that visual direction Anna and her husband, Simon, captured the most stunning moments.

Day of the wedding, after Chad and I had our emotional first look photographs, we previewed the Lace Factory and we could not believe our eyes. Sarah and her incredible dream team had brought the venue to life. It was as though the Lace Factory found its true glory. As we walked in the staff was lighting the hundreds of candles that illuminated the garlands at each table. Meanwhile the three piece jazz band, Dandy Wellington, was setting up to serenade us all, and our DJ, Mike Voster, with incredibly suave taste in fashion and music was finishing his setup. Throughout the wedding planning my mom kept saying “I want this to be the wedding you dreamed of” but what I think she really meant when saying that was, “I want you to have a wedding you won’t stop dreaming of”. From the smell of the fresh autumn flowers, the taste of genuinely delicious food, to the sound of jazz flooding the Connecticut River, this truly is a wedding I will never stop dreaming of.

A Wedding Where Big City Chic Meets Napa Valley Charm

Now that you’ve fallen in love with this couple and their hoedown rehearsal dinner I think it’s high time we dive into the wedding day that followed. It’s one of those incredible celebrations that could only ever happen with a crew of top-notch vendors behind it, and thanks to A Savvy EventGot LightPaula LeDuc, plus Jessica Burke and Paperweight Films capturing the fun, that’s exactly what happened. Let’s not waste another second chatting and instead, head straight to The Vault.

[iframe https://player.vimeo.com/video/130894508?color=7ba87b 600 338]

From Jessica BurkeAllie + Constantine were married at Beaulieu Garden in the Napa Valley. With A Savvy Event at the helm and Paula LeDuc catering, it truly was a one-of-a-kind event. So many amazing touches – from the mirrored reception tables, to the insane lounge setups, crystal chandeliers and everything in-between, it was unforgettable for all!

From A Savvy EventAllie and Constantine met in New York City, but chose to say their I Do’s on the West Coast, choosing Napa’s breathtaking Beaulieu Garden as their venue. The couple wanted a setting that was warm and welcoming, and one that could host their friends and family for an extended weekend of festivities. Napa, with its unmistakable charm and refined-country vibe, fit the bill perfectly.

The couple opted for a Black Tie affair–a fact that was illustrated by incorporating a black velvet ribbon in the oh-so-swanky invitation suite (which Nessa from The Card Bar executed beautifully). Soft, elegant and romantic details peppered the entire affair–from the French silk ribbon that tied the bride’s bouquet of white and blush peonies, to pink sequined cocktail linens that added that special celebratory flair to the overall aesthetic.

Arrangements both soft and grand boasted everything from garden roses to hydrangea to anemones. Trailing passion vines finished off the florals, adding a touch of whimsy to the formal affair. Guests dined al fresco under the shade of an age-old Sycamore arbor–arguably one of the venue’s most ethereal details. Crystal drop chandeliers were suspended over mirrored dining tables–creating an absolutely magical secret-garden-esque area for guests to celebrate. A myriad of dreamy candlelight and a mix of unexpected florals adorned each table.

Two white leather bars, accented with super chic brass studs and gold accessories were stand-out pieces at the event, and framed the venue’s glimmering outdoor pool perfectly. We created a lounge area (complete with formal black cane back chairs) where guests could relax and mingle. Our favorite detail, though? Plush pillows that boasted the couple’s custom monogram sat pretty on tufted white linen couches and made for a detail guests won’t soon forget.

Overall, the event was the perfect balance of Big City Chic and Napa Au Natural. We absolutely adored working with Allie and Constantine to create an affair that reflected their interests and tastes (and one that everyone–including Allie’s 90-year-old Grandfather–was able to enjoy).

This Yosemite Engagement Will Convice You to Marry Ontop of a Mountain

In case you were doubting fate, Womo and Yushan are here to prove a theory. Said theory? That it actually exists. For it was a chance encounter that these two together met and golly are we giddy they did. Because the beauty that these two created shortly after is absolutely unreal. A mountaintop engagement with Kristine Herman Photography behind the lens that you’re sure to love. See it all in The Vault!

From Kristine Herman PhotographyIt was one of those at the right place, at the right time type of meetings. Fate as some people would call it. There was a get together for students and Womo decided to go, even though he wasn’t technically a student, and that’s where he met Yushan.

Womo knew he wanted to make their engagement special and came up with an idea that described the two of them perfectly. As described by Womo, Yushan might forget where she placed a thing or two and he decided to play with that. He had given her a promise ring before and asked her why she never wears it anymore. So Yushan went on a hunt for the ring and when she found it in the bathroom, womo had switched it with an engagement ring! He then got down on one knee and asked Yushan to marry him. Before saying yes she stated are you really proposing to me in the bathroom?!

Because Womo and Yushan are avid travelers, we decided to take a trip to Yosemite National Park for their engagement. It ended up being the nicest day in the valley and of course that meant the most people I’ve ever seen in Yosemite! This meant every person walking by would stop and congratulate the two.

Dear Brides: Don’t Fall Into The Wedding Comparison Trap

It’s said that comparison is the thief of joy, and that couldn’t ring more true when it comes to planning a wedding. Between Pinterest, Instagram, magazines, blogs (Style Me Pretty, included) plus that friend of a friend of a friend’s wedding hashtag you’ve been secretly stalking, it’s all too easy to judge YOUR day against someone else’s, but take heart. Real bride and blogger behind Love and Specs, Maryal Miller, is here to share how she let go of comparison and instead found joy in the journey.

The Ultimate Planning Timeline | 15 Guests You Don’t Have to Invite | What’s Your Wedding Style?

The Ultimate Wine Tasting Guide (Clink! Clink!)

One of my very favorite summer pastimes is sipping on a crisp glass of wine with the sun kissing my shoulders. With a cheese board in arms reach, of course, and good company! Hosting a wine and cheese party is such an easy way to gather your friends without having to cook a big meal. Take a cue from this al fresco shindig captured by Amanda Lenhardt and read some of our tips below for the ultimate tasting!

PROVIDE PAIRINGS

Now’s the time to let your cheese board shine! Provide a variety of flavors from cheeses and meats to chocolate and honey. Your wine types will really help determine this, but make sure to research what pairs well with each.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT STEMWARE

For the best tasting experience, choose the right glass for your wine! Believe it or not, the way the wines aromas lift from the glass opening and into your nose can change up the way different vinos taste. Check out this guide from Williams-Sonoma to learn more!

SERVE WATER

If you’re hosting a tasting, serve water as a palate cleanser so you can fully experience each wine on it’s own.

LET IT BREATHE

Decanters aren’t just fancy vehicles for wine—they allow the wine to interact with the air so you can fully experience the flavors and aromas, especially for more full-bodied reds and even whites.

LABEL YOUR WINES

For a wine tasting party, label wines if you place them in decanters so your guests don’t have to play a guessing game!

TASTING NOTES

Provide cute little tasting notes for your guests so you can compare how you each experience the wine individually. Get the template here!

THE RIGHT TEMPERATURE

The temp of a wine can completely change how you experience it’s flavors and alcohol content. Follow these basic guidelines for temperature and you’ll be enjoying every sip!

Light bodied white wines, rosés and sparkling wines: 40–55 °F
Fuller bodied whites and light reds: 55–65 °F
Full reds and ports: 60–65 °F

HANDLING YOUR GLASS

Most people tend to hold their glass by the bowl. However, we recommend holding your glass by the stem as not to alter the temp of your vino as you’re sipping away. Cheers!

PRESERVE YOUR WINE

If you don’t enjoy all of your wine in one evening, make sure to store it properly. Keep whites and rosés in the fridge or a wine fridge. If you don’t have a wine fridge make sure any reds you leave out aren’t near a heat source or high cupboard where heat rises. Consider investing in a wine preserver as well!

A Chance Encounter Inspired This Bright, Boho Editorial

When Events by Jade encountered a beautiful stranger in a coffee shop, she was immediately struck by the woman’s bohemian, eclectic, whimsical and romantic style. She began wondering, “If I were to design this stranger’s wedding, what would it look like?” With The Vault full of bright, gorgeous photos from Rachel Elaine Photography, that question was answered.

From Events by JadeThe Texas girl in me finds something extraordinary about the combination of a crisp white barn in a setting of vibrant colors. The White Sparrow Barn shines on it’s own, so adding to this radiant space for such an enchanting event was easy. My intent was to create a lovely masterpiece that would bring into focus the beauty of the moment, and when you take a closer look you are in awe of every fine detail.

One day, not too long ago, I met a beautiful woman in a coffee shop. I would describe her style as bohemian and eclectic, with a touch of whimsical romance. We only spoke for about 2 minutes, a fleeting conversation, but she left a lasting impression. There was something very special about her that struck a chord inside my soul. Unbeknownst to her, in those two minutes she inspired me. If I were to create a wedding for her, it would be very similar to the pictures you see today. My goal was to design her a bohemian inspirited wedding with a fresh interpretation.

Rachel from Rachel Elaine Photography and I immediately agreed we wanted eye-catching hues to contrast with the white washed walls of The White Sparrow. Using a color palette of pinks, greens, oranges, and blues opened up a bright infusion of summer. R Love Floral Design used organic, natural flowers and foliage to embody this inspiration.

It was very important to me to fuse both the nature of the surroundings and the additional pieces into a cohesively effortless space. I used a tree on the property to hang a dream catcher seating chart, the vibrant green-grassed space that was made to be sat in, and a tree swing that was calling to be transformed into a cake stand. Clean, simple, native, yet elegant.

I fell in love with the idea of having a loaf of bread on the tables, representing “breaking bread” among friends and family. The word “bohemian” immediately makes me think of a more relaxed and informal sitting, and with that in mind we used a low table for the dessert displays all made by Amuse Bake Shop. I visualized friends and family informally surrounded around the table sharing stories of the bride and groom.

The true beauty in what I do is the friendships I form along the way. Each event is a way for me to take the traits that make my clients truly unique and extraordinary, and create a sitting that expresses all of those attributes for them to enjoy. I had the privilege of working with some of the best in the industry on this shoot. I hope you love these pictures as much as I do.

The Views Aren’t the Only Breathtaking Part of This Amalfi Coast Wedding

Like M And J Photography, we’ve been dreaming about visiting the Amalfi Coast for years. So, when they made the trip to Ravello, we were insanely jealous. Not only did they visit the picturesque region, but they also got to witness (and photograph) this gorgeous day. With an outdoor ceremony in a garden overlooking the coastline and a parade through the town square, this day proves dreams come true. See how in The Vault!

From M And J Photography… The Amalfi coast had been somewhere we dreamed of visiting for years. We can’t deny that we’d secretly been holding out to be able to use a job as an excuse to visit for the first time. So when Gabriella & Duncan asked us to shoot their wedding in Ravello, we were over the moon.

After arriving late at night, we woke the next morning to the spectacularly beautiful views over Amalfi and the blue blue Mediterranean sea and knew it was going to be a very special wedding that day.

All the celebrations took place high up in the town of Ravello with an outdoor ceremony at Giardini Principessa di Piemonte, an Italian garden overlooking the beautiful coastline. Duncan and his groomsmen dressed all in black tie made their way through the town square up to the ceremony followed by the rest of the guests to the sound of cheers and shouts of “viva lo sposo!!” from locals and tourists alike. Gabriella, accompanied by her father and bridesmaids followed to an equally enthusiastic reception.

The ceremony was intimate with both emotional and humorous readings from close friends and family. A classical string duo provided the perfect musical accompaniment. There was further music as everyone made their way back to the town square accompanied by an acoustic band singing traditional Italian songs. Drinks and canapé’s in the square were followed by a photo session for the bride and groom. The procession then moved on up to Villa Eva, for an evening of more stunning food, drink and scenery at Villa Eva. After some of the best speeches wedding speeches we’ve heard, everyone danced the night away under fairy lights in the villa’s courtyard. The perfect ending to a relentlessly joyous day!

From the Bride + Groom…The couple met on the bride’s 25th birthday in gorgeous downtown Savannah, Georgia. Fate brought them together when the bride, in town for an 8-week internship, literally bumped into the groom, who was visiting his brother just for the weekend. The night they met, Autumn secretly told her best friend she hoped it wouldn’t work out or her name would become “Autumn Woods”, her favorite Yankee candle scent. Little did she know, they would spend the next 10 months in a long distance relationship, as Autumn returned to Kentucky to finish her doctorate in physical therapy, and Erin returned to the U.S. Coast Guard town of Wilmington, North Carolina. Two years after their chance meeting, he got down on one knee in front of St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans, Louisiana and she said yes. They celebrated the night away at a surprise engagement party with family and friends on a rooftop in the French Quarter.

Autumn Lynn Abraham married Erin Fallon Woods 1 years later on April 23, 2016 at the breathtaking River Landing River Lodge in Wallace, North Carolina. The days leading up to the wedding were wet with heavy rains, but then the clouds opened up the morning of the 23rd for a beautiful spring day. Autumn got ready in The Falls Suite on the top floor of the River Landing Clubhouse, while Erin joined his groomsmen, family, and friends at the Hawthorne Cottage beside the clubhouse. Erin’s groomsmen were his three brothers, Cory, Garrison, and Jared Woods, all of whom are also in the U.S. Coast Guard. Autumn was of the calmest brides, enjoying a mimosa with her maid of honor and younger sister, Amy Abraham and her two best friends and sorority sisters, Alyssa Potter and Courtney Guilfoyle (who was 21 weeks pregnant and enjoying a sparkling cider!). The bridesmaids shined in their rose gold sequin and ivory chiffon gowns, with the maid of honor’s dress completely covered in bold, rose gold sequin. The bridesmaids’ gifts included their Plum Pretty Sugar robes and rose gold and crystal earrings purchased from Etsy to match the bride’s jewelry. With such statement dresses, the bridesmaids carried simple, yet classic baby’s breath bouquets wrapped in blush-colored ribbon. The bride’s bouquet was adorned with a rose gold locket holding a picture of her father, who passed when she was 7 years old. Her father would have celebrated his 57th birthday exactly one week prior to the wedding.

The pillows displayed at the River Lodge, handmade by the bride and favorite crafted detail, contained excerpts from love letters her father had written her mother while overseas protecting our country as a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot. These pillows were presented to her mother as a surprise gift at the reception. And of course the bride also included pillows with excerpts of love letters Erin had written her to remind her that time nor distance could affect his love for her. The groom also participated in a rather large DIY project, as he built the arbor that he and his bride married under. Thank you to Steve at High Performance Lighting, for supplying a chandelier to hang from Erin’s impressive arbor. The intimate ceremony, which took place on the sand bank between the River Lodge and the flowing Cape Fear River, was performed by Erin’s father, Philip Woods, as the bride’s mother, Annette Abraham, gave her away on behalf of herself and the bride’s father. This wedding was most certainly a family affair, as Erin’s nieces and nephews played the perfect flower girls, ring bearer and usher. The flower girls’ dresses were handmade by their mother, and they sprinkled white rose petals from their hand-decorated copper pales with streaming blush, ivory, and champagne glittered ribbons. The ring bearer refused to put down his briefcase for hours leading up to the wedding–his badge made by the groom detailed him as “Ring Security”, a job which he took very seriously.

Guests found their seats for dinner according to the DIY mirror seating chart put together by the bride and her maid of honor. The tables were covered with blush linens and glass beaded chargers rented by CE Rentals of Raleigh with the head table covered by a blush tulle with gold thread linen. The cake and cocktail tables were covered by copper sequin linens. This Carolina Lodge wedding was the first in Wilmington to use the rose gold silverware rented by Party Suppliers. The florist, Ally Favory, placed a single sprig of bay leaf to accompany the menu on each place setting and supplied mercury glass candle votives to the tables. Centerpieces were made of white hydrangea, feather eucalyptus, gunny eucalyptus, privet berries, magnolia greenery, and sprinkles of white spray roses, lizzianthus, and freesia in assorted mercury glass vases. Carolina cuisine known as a low country boil was served buffet style. The cake details were also a first for an eastern NC wedding, as the rose gold dust for the decorative rings was specially made for the occasion. Chandeliers hung above the bridal table and dance floor along with strands of white edison lights. Guests signed the personalized Kentucky bourbon barrel top in honor of Autumn’s home state. Champagne toasts were given by the maid of honor, best man, and mother of the bride, who spoke for herself and Autumn’s father in welcoming Erin to the bride’s family. Following the toasts, the guests danced the night away and a surprise guest appearance was made by Autumn and Erin’s 5-year-old goldendoodle, Annie Oakley. At the end of the night, the bride and groom made a romantic sparkler exit.

The colors of the wedding were blush, rose gold, and ivory. Autumn designed the wedding with the goal of tying in both her and Erin’s styles by combining the pastoral outdoors with elegant, illuminous colors. With 56 people in attendance, the bride and groom spent <$20,000 on the intimate event. The favors were homemade wine (South African Pinotage) and custom wine glasses.

From the Bride… My one piece of advice that I could give brides-to-be is not to overlook your future husband’s style, skills and creativity. They may surprise you with an immaculate arbor, ring bearer “security badge”, or tasty homemade wine, like mine did!

I Unplugged For My Honeymoon + It Was The Best Decision Ever.

My hubby and I just recently celebrated our first anniversary and while we spent the occasion looking back on our wonderful wedding, we also found ourselves daydreaming about the honeymoon that followed. Simply put, it was amazing. And one of the main reasons it was so spectacular was that my cell phone was not included. Other than using the camera to capture some special moments, my cell phone was not touched, looked at or even thought of – and I’m certain you need to do the same.

Not only have I had my work email on my cell phone for years now, but like most everyone else in the world, I live and breath with this beast we call our phones. From Instagram to Snapchat, to tracking our steps, breaths and zzz’s, not to even mention the endless texts, it’s not far-fetched to call our cell phone the third wheel in many relationships. I refused to let that happen on our post-nuptials getaway.

When I look back on that week, I remember reading on the beach as my new husband scuba dived in front of me. I remember the sunsets and the conversations we had together – not with friends via Facebook updates. And I remember how when I returned to reality, I felt refreshed. So when people ask me for my own bits of wedding wisdom, I’ll continue to jump ahead to post-party, and encourage them to put down their phones and be present as they kick off their marriage together. Trust me, it’s worth it.
