From Nicole Berrett PhotographyDavid John + Leah. Their wedding was a dream. They were married at a castle, she walked down the aisle to instrumental Disney music. The way David John looked at her and spoke of her was straight out out of a fairytale. Their personal handwritten vows included the beautiful quote from The Chaos of Stars. Their first dance was surrounded by friends, love and one hundred sparklers and when the clock stroke 10:00, we all ate mini grilled cheeses.

Industrial Chic Wedding Inspiration

A whitewashed brick background paired with lush organic blooms? Talk about a crazy chic combo. Add in an ethereal gown and layers of luxe pastry, Lisa Renault Photographie captured every delicious bit to share in The Vault!

From Lisa Renault PhotographieAs wedding planner, florist and photographer, Katayoun Khatami (Unikevent), Nadine Jazouli (Prune) and I wanted to combine our ideas and skills to create a styled shoot to inspire the brides and grooms-to-be. We envisioned a bright location with large windows and the urban charm of white brick walls. We wanted to create an atmosphere both sweet and romantic in an organic and airy style.

The studio L’Eloi was the perfect place with its huge open concept and gorgeous natural light. From the bridal bouquet and centerpieces to the wall decorations, everything was composed of organic elements with a lot of foliage, with some pears added for a soft accent of colour. The various handwritten elements by imaginejoy calligraphie also brought a romantic touch to the shoot, especially with the clay coasters bearing the words “Today, Tomorrow & Always”, and the “love” cake topper, placed atop a lovely white cake by Pâtisserie Petit Lapin. We also incorporated a lot of wood and other organic elements in the decor, like the beautiful tables provided by La Mariée Bohème as well as the chairs and slate chargers by Celebrations Group.

Our bride (Marilyn of Montage Models) wore a light and delicate gown provided by White, Montreal, with soft natural makeup and hairstyling by Priska & Co and Jenniloui Makeup Artist.

It was a pleasure to work with all these talented Montreal vendors and to see our vision come to life. We hope it will provide ideas to the couples for their big day!

Al Fresco

From The Bride… Our tastes in music, fashion, and lifestyle can be really eclectic so it was really hard trying to channel just one theme or style. We basically pulled our inspiration from everything we loved and because we didn’t have a certain theme or color scheme we were following, I wasn’t sure how everything was going to piece together. It really didn’t matter though. Ultimately, we wanted our wedding to reflect who we were and how important each of our attendees were to us (wedding party included!). We wanted them to feel like it was as much a part of their day as it was ours and focus on how their support for us really helped make our long distance relationship persevere.

We both love attending music festivals and were really inspired by them for our wedding. More so on ambiance than style elements. We wanted to bring that kind of outdoorsy, open, fun, and unified atmosphere we’ve experienced from the festivals by creating a celebratory vibe for our guests. We wanted them to feel like they were coming to their party, not our wedding. For this, we knew our main focus was going to be the venues, everything else would be secondary.

For our ceremony site, we went with the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. The greenery and the maze-like hedges gave us kind of a cool Alice in Wonderland feel, which we loved. The greenhouse also provided for a beautiful backdrop for our photos. For our reception venue, we wanted something with an open feel; something that didn’t feel too formal but had a unique style on its own and could really stand out devoid decorations. In addition to that, we needed a space large enough to accommodate 450-500 guests!

We had visited a few locations prior to the Uppercut Boxing Gym, and had a few more scheduled to view, but knew immediately that we would hold our reception there as soon as we walked in. The Boxing Gym is just such a cool space; and large! The exposed beams, the warehouse front, and graffitied courtyard really made it hard to pass. The venue is a statement on its own so we the rest of our décor followed quite nicely.

As much as our focus was on our guests and those around us, the times we had on our own, whether it was for photos or video shots, were still really special. Our first dance, actually, was quite nostalgic. It reminded me so much of the night we first met 8 years ago (9 years now)! We shared a dance the first night we met and just like our first wedding dance, everyone around us just kind of disappeared. For a short moment, it was just again, alone in the world. Moments like that are always so powerful and such a great testament to our faith.

All in all, the moments we shared with friends and family who traveled distances to celebrate with us; the smiles that were captured; knowing how hard our vendors worked and then seeing them out on the dance floor with everyone; the food; the love; the speeches; the perfect weather; the rip in my dress; the mishaps; and the 450 bodies that came in and out were all favorite moments that Lorzone and I will cherish forever. We will always live this night through and through with our video that Chris from Sky Focus Films captured so perfectly.

Why Couples Are Saying Goodbye to the Traditional Proposal

There are certain telltale signs your boyfriend is getting ready to get down on one knee — he’s nervous, secretive, overly sentimental and suspicious — desperately hoping to pull of the perfect surprise proposal. But, according to a new survey conducted by 77 Diamonds, 62.1 percent of women knew the ring was coming. And maybe that’s because, according to Creative Director David Allen, more couples are beginning to shop for engagement rings together. Take a look at more of the surprising stats below.

A Sunrise Elopement Complete with Waffles

In the event that you’re not a morning person (instantly raises hand), this lovely inspiration is here to turn your day around. Because honestly, what’s better than a waffle buffet? Complete with stunning views, honey favors, and a few ‘something blue’ details, Erin Wilson Photography has captured it all to share in The Vault!

From Erin Wilson PhotographyEarlier this year a very lovely and talented florist (Magnolia Belle Florist) contacted me about a shoot she was dying to do. We both love Arkansas’ natural beauty and were inspired to showcase that and our beautiful sunrises with a brunch elopement. Dripping with golden tones and touches of honey we styled an etherial and organic sunrise brunch for our bride and groom. The perfect and intimate cove off the side of Mt. Petit jean proved to be the most stunning backdrop for young love and organic details. Beautiful dahlias, roses, golden ranunculus, pear tree forages and earthy findings were the basis of Magnolia Belle Florals stunning creations. We accented her designs with soft blue and gold chiffons and silks. Emily Howell Designs created custom name cards, invitation suite and paper goods (and banner) to perfectly accent the peach, golden and blue tones in our inspiration. We also were obsessed with the idea of a waffle bar…but not a typical waffle bar. We wanted yummy syrups and fruit toppings to make not only beautiful but tasty waffles to go along with our pomegranate sparkling champagne drinks and mimosas. My personal favorite is the mini-honey jar favors for the intimate crowd of guests invited to the private elopement. We were so pleased with Arkansas beautiful sunrise and how that soft light accentuated our brunch elopement. Images photographed on film and digital.

This Beaming Bride Is Giving Us Major #WeddingGoals

With her blue suede shoes, the best updo ever, and a smile that never stops, this Bride did it all right. Despite some little challenges (we’re talkin’ a wedding party of 18!), this spring celebration was smooth sailing, with the help of Hello Blue Photo who captured every blush and gold detail that we keep pinning and pinning. See all the goodness in our Vault right this way!

From the Bride… Our inspiration for the wedding came from a combination of elements. I began to feel overwhelmed with the printed bridal magazines and found myself constantly on Style Me Pretty’s Vault. We wanted it to be so classic that when we are showing our grandchildren pictures from our wedding, it would be timeless. I also started to follow a lot of wedding vendor’s accounts on Instagram (Details Details, Bloom Box Designs, Revelry Event Designers, etc.) for daily inspiration.

Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club was the first venue we saw. We’ve always envisioned ourselves getting married in Palm Springs since it is our favorite weekend getaway spot, but the second we saw the beautiful hardwood floors, classic gold chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling French windows, we knew that we found THE venue. Our event coordinator, Nicole, was so accommodating and genuinely wanted to make our wedding day everything we’ve ever dreamed of. Decorations were fairly easy to select due to how classic the venue was. The gold chandeliers dictated the gold chiavari chairs, gold chargers and gold accents. The white French windows and walls created such a bright inviting feeling to the space and I wanted to accentuate that with white linens, candles, and floral arrangements. I wanted to incorporate the soft pink color that the bridesmaids’ wore by adding light pink flowers in the arrangements and tying the favors with blush pink ribbon.

I can not say enough about Christina, Hello Blue Photo. There were so many reasons why we chose her and we are so happy with the outcome. We met with quite a few photographers prior to meeting with Christina and did not really vibe with them. The second I met Christina, I felt like I’ve known her for years and we instantly clicked. I had no doubt in my mind that she knew exactly what we were looking for in photography and completely understood where our vision was. My husband and I are not very comfortable in front of the camera and didn’t want the wedding to feel too posed. We wanted a photographer who would capture genuine, natural, clear and candid pictures. We knew that we disliked photos that are too edited and cheesy poses. Christina captured exactly what we were looking for and more! We had a fairly large wedding party (eighteen total!), and Christina and her team took charge the day of the wedding! They made sure we had all the pictures we wanted taken and encouraged such natural interaction in the process. We plan on using Christina for all photography needs in the future!

Give Your Home Instant Curb Appeal in 3 Easy Steps

Curb appeal is a major thing when owning a home. It’s the world’s first impression of your most favorite space but probably the last thing you think about when decorating. First comes paint, then furniture and accessories and maybe you get around to throwing a mat outside the front door or a flowers if you’re really lucky. Well Ashley Brooke and her crazy cute red door abode are coming to the rescue with three easy steps to instant curb appeal.

I’m going to be honest here, the design feature that truly sold me on this home was the entrance. Specifically the red front door. Seriously. As soon as the Realtor showed me a photo of the house, in my brain, I had already moved in! It didn’t matter to me what the inside looked like because it had a red door and all was right with the world. A few years after moving in, we’ve finally settled in and are beginning to make all kinds of fun changes to it. But the one thing that will forever be is the red door.

Since my obsession with the front of the house is real, I am always looking for ways to dress it up. Having the big red door is wonderful, but it’s really not the easiest to style since it’s SO. RED. It also does not help that Central Florida presents a few unique challenges to landscaping outside. Between the balmy Florida heat and humidity and the flower-eating deer that roam the neighborhood, many plants do not stand a chance! So when we decided it was time to get serious about the front door decor situation, we needed a serious plan!

The first order of business: accessorize! Before thinking about plants we knew we needed new planters. The ones we had were falling apart. They were also charcoal black and not really giving the front of the house that Southern charm we were looking for. And that’s when we found these pretty ones from Pottery Barn! We relocated the red Adirondack chairs to the front porch from the back yard and chose striped blue and white pillows to soften the look of it all. Besides, blue and white stripes match just about everything and especially red. WIN!

Once all the new front porch staples arrived we called in some reinforcements for the landscape design. Our gifted friends at Porch Therapy came to the rescue! I have a “green-ish” thumb and can keep things alive, but I needed some advice on what in the world to plant in our gorgeous new pots. Something that could handle extreme heat and an insane amount of humidity. If that wasn’t all, I really didn’t want to plant more deer food.

The ladies from Porch Therapy recommended all kinds of plants and came up with the Preppy-Meets-Southern-Tropical theme for the arrangements, which I had never thought to do! The front of our home is very “Southern” looking and I always thought that without hydrangeas or geraniums it just would not work… But I had never thought outside the box, and I am SO glad we did. After that, we were ready to whip our front door into tip-top shape!

In our Planters

Silver Buttonwood, Caladiums, Diamond Frost Euphoria, Echinacea, Alocacia, Canna Lily, and Blue Daze. The trees are Weeping Podocarpus.

Okay, so I know what you are thinking, “Ashley, that is a lot of work!” But honestly, you just need a plan and it will all fall into place. I pinky promise! So here you go friends, get out a pen and write down these three steps to help you get started:

Step 1. Assess your space.

What do you have room for? A wreath? A pot or two? Chairs? Map it out and decide what the space can handle and what you could do that really would make an impact. I already had the chairs and knew I wanted to incorporate them, so I just added pillows and pots. That part was easy!

Step 2. Find your colors/know your climate

Too often I find myself picking up a “pretty” wreath for the front door and bringing it home only to realize, “yes, that is pretty… but your door is red. Pink and purple flowers do not match. At all.” Honestly, that has happened far too many times. After realizing that we needed to stick to primary colors, everything got a lot easier. Those aqua blue pillows are pretty, but they won’t match, get the blue & white ones….etc. etc.

This also helped a ton when it came to plant selection! We knew our lane. Also, I had to come to grips that we didn’t live in North Carolina where we could have hydrangeas galore. I live in Florida. It’s 1,000 degrees in the Summer and, strangely enough, our neighborhood has more deer than people. So once I came to grips with that, the plant selection made more sense. Also, it’s comforting to know that we didn’t just pot a whole bunch of deer food.

Step 3. Get outside of your box!

This is hard for me. I like the comfort of a box, but after talking to professionals I realized… I can pot an actual tree? Again, no idea why I didn’t comprehend it until now, but pots aren’t just for flowers.

Also, move those pots around. If you have a perfectly symmetric front porch or entry way like we do, don’t just stack them up on your steps. Get a little asymmetrical, add some interest! You’ll be so proud of yourself when you do!

See, not so hard! Just get yourself some new pots, talk to your local nursery about what really works in your climate, and play around with it! Whether you are in an apartment or house, you want your guests’ first experiences in your home to be special. So why not start with the front door?!

From Simply Sera EventsThe Villa San Juan Capistrano and the Mission San Juan Capistrano whisks you away to a serene and charming place, such that you feel as if you’ve entered an enchanted spot. We were drawn by the ambiance and features of both the Villa and the Mission and designed an effortlessly romantic styled shoot.

Both venues have beautiful stonework all throughout so Peony and Plum created the centerpieces in stone urns to complement that characteristic, and the wood table and cane back chairs from Archive Rentals were perfect to set a subtle and whimsical table setting. And our bride wore a custom Musat Bridal Couture gown that captivates her grace and beauty when she walks and enhances her silhouette with a deep back line. Everything from calligraphy to the cake were inspired by the soft romance you can feel when you enter the two places.

We hope this styled shoot will inspire brides dreaming of an elegant and timeless wedding!

Digital Media Co-Workers Turned Bride & Groom!

We’re all familiar with the co-worker cuties that are Jim and Pam (à la The Office), but allow us to introduce you to the modern version: Joel and Dana. Their work romance eventually evolved into the ultimate wedding and quite frankly we’re uhb-sessed. Next Exit Photography was behind the day capturing every detail (and a few familiar faces) and we’ve got it all in The Vault!

From the Bride… Joel and I met at work. We both work in digital media – he’s a cool creative type and if you ask him he’d describe me as “badass and business-y.” What that really means is that we were on different sides of the company and didn’t have a lot of reason to interact on a daily basis. I found out later that he had a crush on me for months before we spent time together at one of our company’s monthly social events. He teased me a little bit, I pretended to be offended and made him apologize; we flirted for the rest of the night…and now we’re married!

Joel proposed in Napa Valley, CA at my favorite winery, Cliff Lede. The reason I like it there so much is because in addition to delicious wines – they name their vineyards after famous rock albums and all their wines have musical names. In the middle of a private tasting he had arranged, he invited me to take a walk through the vines. Joel asked me to spend the rest of my life with him while we were sipping High Fidelity wine on “The Dark Side of the Moon.” Of course we had Cliff Lede shipped in and served as the wine at the wedding.

It was really important to both of us that our wedding was an authentic reflection of our relationship. We wanted to combine Joel’s classic style with my bohemian taste, and what better way to do that then to have a black tie wedding in a garden? We both love living in Los Angeles, so we also wanted to share our adopted city with our friends and family. Early on, we brainstormed what it is about LA that defines us: where we met, our weekly trips to the Hollywood Farmer’s Market, our first dates in West Hollywood, and more. The Farmer’s Market was a real jumping-off point for us: I was very inspired by the flowers, greens and herbs we see there – so we focused a lot of details on bringing in those elements throughout the wedding.

For me, the very first decision was choosing a dress. I found mine online and went to Monique Lhullier specifically to try it on. It was the first dress I tried – what can I say? I’m a girl who knows what she wants! The bridesmaid dresses were the next step but they were a little more difficult to find. I knew I wanted floral dresses to help define the garden theme, and once I decided on the Donna Morgan dresses, most of my color palate fell into place.

Florals were the most important part of the décor for me. For the chuppah, I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like and HollyFlora went above and beyond to execute beautifully. We really wanted to bring the garden-feel of the Sunset Marquis into the reception area as well. We came up with the idea that the centerpieces, each anchored by a different seasonal Farmer’s Market herb, would be vase-less and look like they were growing out of the table. We supplemented the overgrown feeling of the centerpieces with flowering trees in the rest of the room.

Most of our time planning was spent on the details. Joel is an artist so he hand-drew the art for our save-the-date and welcome bags. I did a lot of the design work myself, including our letter-pressed invitations, the custom step-and-repeat for our photobooth and our program fans. The wedding weekend was abnormally hot for Los Angeles in June, so those fans actually turned out to be functional – I can tell people actually used them because we only have one left!

When I think about everything, it’s hard to narrow it down to just one favorite detail. Our custom his & hers cocktails – which we sat at the Sunset Marquis bar one gorgeous afternoon to taste-craft ourselves – integrated herbed salt and sugar made by a local vendor from the Farmer’s Market. We then gave the salt and sugar to our guests as favors, and included the drink recipes. I still have some leftovers if anybody wants one!

Our dreamcatcher sign-in was the most obvious nod to my bohemian sensibilities, and it’s already hanging over our bed to give us good juju while we sleep. I also laid out funny signs around the grounds. My favorite said “If you’re crashing this wedding you’d better be funny. Or famous. And preferably both.” – because Billy Bob Thornton showed up! Not only is he “both”, he was also gracious and charming, and posed for pictures with us and our relatives.

I have two favorite moments from the reception. The first was when music started playing – I was finally able to let loose and relax! I think “Shut up and Dance” will forever be added to my Roster of Happy Songs. My second favorite moment was my dad’s speech. He had already given three father-of-the-bride speeches before, but had never prepared anything so he always ended up rambling. He actually wrote something this time, and it was perfect. Joel’s favorite moments were all on the dancefloor: with his family and with his beautiful new bride! (I swear he wrote that part!!)

This Bohemian Home was Inspired by One of Our Favorite Blockbusters

For these homeowners, building their dream home meant really honing in on their vision. The end result looks a little like the classic Father of the Bride abode (which let’s be honest is one of the best movie homes ever) meets bohemian, eclectic details. Things picked up on travels, gorgeous family photographs and cozy layers can all be found in this winning combo captured by Daphne Mae.

After planning this home of ours for over three years, we couldn’t think of a better way to commemorate such a thrilling change in our lives than with photos. We chose a traditional floorpan with a large foyer, complete with a rounded staircase, stone cast fireplace, and a white kitchen.

I always wanted our home to feel very, ‘Father & the Bride’ with a twist of Modern Boho, if thats even a thing.

I always wanted our home to be traditional with a twist of modern eclectic. I love the look and feel of a home well lived in, something that has collected memories from places and time.

We’ve incorporated things that my Husband and I have picked up on our travels, as well as, things we’ve simply had forever but still love.

Beyond that, to have a welcoming home, one that just kind of hugs you when you walk in was our main goal. We’re in the season of life where dirty floors and little visitors are the norm, so keeping it a place that is relatable and reflects our lifestyle was also huge.

From The Bride…Eric and I recognized that this would be the one time in our lives that everyone who is important to us would be in one place at the same time so we wanted everyone to be able to kick back and have a really fun weekend! Most of our family and friends traveled from out of town for our wedding and we wanted to make sure everyone stayed in a central location in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with a lot of great food and activities. Downtown Fort Worth made the most sense to us. The YWCA of Fort Worth & Tarrant County provided the character & location we were looking for as well as space for both the ceremony and reception. What ultimately sold us is the proceeds from renting the venue directly support the work of the Center for Transforming Lives. The purpose of this organization is to help women, children and families in Tarrant County move from poverty to independence. They provide an emergency women’s shelter within the building, community-based housing, affordable child care and early childhood education. How amazing is that?!

Given the elegant architecture and structural details of the venue, my mom (the ultimate wedding coordinator) and I opted to keep all the decor pretty simple. I would describe my vision for our wedding as romantic, boho chic with a Texas flair. Our amazing floral designer, Molly Black, did an incredible job creating the variation in color and structure I envisioned for the bouquets and arrangements. Texas flair equaled a bride in cowboy boots, a cowhide rug on the ceremony site, Tex-Mex dinner (not limited to smoked brisket tostadas, queso/salsa bar, and smoked chicken enchiladas), and a Texas beer selection.

My advice for brides planning a wedding is that stress is an inevitable part of the process, including the day of. Enjoy the ride, all the ups and downs. It is such a unique season. Everything really seems to fall into place and, for us, all the details that did not go as planned created some pretty funny stories. Also, if you are doing most of the wedding planning yourself, budget for a day-of wedding coordinator. You definitely want someone else to handle all the details the day of the wedding, so you can relax and be present as much as possible.

Light + Bright Southern Wedding That’s Sure to Stun

Mismatched bridesmaids dresses, a naked cake, an intimate standing staircase ceremony, this here wedding has got it all. Captured by Jordan Brittley we invite you to witness one celebration that you’re sure to love. So grab a few tissues and see it all firsthand in The Vault!

From Jordan BrittleyThis Plantation wedding with a view is full of rooftop kisses, hugs from the bride’s little sisters, and elegant walks through the gardens! I love that this wedding felt like it was taking place in their own backyard. Emma and Dan wanted their families to be able to relax and enjoy all of their guests.

Don’t miss the photos of the best friend locket that Emma gave to her little sister! It was so precious how much she cherished it! I knew that Emma was really close to her sisters so I asked them to hug her while she put on her dress. Those photos are sure to make you tear up!!

Little ones ran through the grass and explored the grounds at this lovely place! Bees buzzed around and there was the most delicious lemonade for the guests!

I love that Emma and Dan decided to do a standing ceremony. They set up several chairs for grandparents, but everyone else stood! It made the ceremony feel so intimate. Instead of creating a center aisle, she walked down the spiral staircase. He kept getting glimpses of her and started crying. In fact, one of my favorite memories from their wedding was that the pastor gave Dan a moment to catch his breath because he couldn’t stop crying! It was the sweetest thing!

Emma and Dan wanted their guests to be happy and feel joyful on their wedding day. They just wanted an intimate celebration for their families and closest friends! This wedding was just that!

We Dare You Not to Fall in Love with This Colorful Cabo Wedding

This gorgeous bride begins her and her hubby’s love story with “We believe in love at first sight.” After seeing her Cabo wedding, so do we. It all started with the bouquet. From there, sweet details — from maracas to a very cute donkey to fab fashions (including Plum Pretty Sugar robes and a Jenny Yoo wedding dress) — made us fall harder. And the gorgeous reception with rentals from Del Cabo Event Design sealed the deal. Feel the love, thanks to photos from Sara Richardson Photography, in The Vault!

From The Bride… We believe in love at first sight. Sometimes you just have to look at each other for a long time. It all started New Year’s Eve 2010 when I arrived back home in Los Angeles after a holiday getaway in Mexico. Upon arriving home my sister introduced me to a handsome lumber sexual named Matt who quickly got on my last nerve while rushing me to get ready for the night. After a few cocktails and a lot of laughs my dislike for Matt quickly subsided and the night ended with our first kiss on 1/1/11.

A great friendship was born that fateful New Year’s Day but it would be a few years before Matt and I would start our forever. In the spring of 2013, at my best friend’s birthday party at Goal Sports Bar, Matt and I realized we liked each other a lot, like we were falling in love (awe, we’re so cute! Kidding not really kidding!!). Two years later at the very same spot, on April 28th, 2015, I said “YES!” when Matt proposed at Goal on Taco Tuesday (duh!) and we set out on our greatest adventure.

From the very beginning we new we wanted a destination wedding so that we could enjoy a long weekend with our closest family and friends away from life’s daily distractions. Enjoying quality time, having fun and making memories with loved ones was our main goal heading into the planning of our big day. So when I looked into a recommendation I received from my aunt for the Cabo Surf Hotel in San Jose del Cabo, MX, I immediately new without a doubt I had found the perfect location for our intimate wedding weekend. We really wanted a beach front wedding and with my awesome dad being wheelchair bound we had very specific needs. The layout of the hotel with the beautiful ocean front garden for the ceremony was absolutely perfect! I grabbed my computer with somewhere close to 25 tabs open, all of the Cabo Surf Hotel, showed Matt and we instantaneously said I do to our wedding venue and now our new favorite place!!

Cabo Surf is amazing and I can’t say enough about their wonderful staff and the exceptional level of service they provided. The property is absolutely beautiful too, with 36 luxury beach chic guest rooms, a delicious restaurant, fabulous spa, great amenities and stunning views of the Sea of Cortez. The hotel’s intimate setting really made for an amazing wedding weekend both for us as well as our entire wedding party and all of our guests. We were so comfortable and relaxed and so well taken care of that we had nothing to do but enjoy ourselves. It was everything – the place, the people, the love – just everything! It was truly the best weekend of our entire lives!!

Martha Lomeli is the hotel’s fabulous wedding coordinator and a patient saint. We planned our wedding in a fast and furious 4 months and Martha did a phenomenal job. Martha was instrumental in pulling off not one but two sensational parties. We really wanted all of the people we love, who traveled to Mexico for our wedding, to get to know each other before our big day so we decided to throw a welcome bonfire beach party for all of our guests on the first night and it was the perfect way to kick off such a tremendous and unforgettable wedding weekend. When you are doing a destination wedding in a foreign country, it is absolutely crucial to find someone who can make great recommendations for local vendors. Martha expertly guided us through making all the decisions for our big day. She recommended and helped us select our wedding dream team including our photographer, florist, DJ, and so much more. Martha helped us with everything from selecting my hair and make-up artist and our wedding menu to setting up yoga for the whole party, tying “gracias” tags on our guests’ gifts and booking the showstopper – Lolo the donkey. She was an absolute pleasure to work with – Martha is amazing!

Having beautiful photos of what we knew was going to be the best day of our entire lives was of the utmost importance to us. While literally looking at every Los Cabos wedding featured online, Matt and I were continuously drawn to photographer, Sara Richardson’s beautiful natural photos and knew immediately that we had to have her capture all the special moments on our big day. From the beginning Sara helped us above and beyond a photographers normal role and worked with us to craft our wedding day schedule and provide a seamless flow throughout the evening so we could celebrate and still get all the photos we wanted. Based on Matt and my desires to be able to enjoy as much time with our loved ones at the wedding as possible, Sara suggested a ‘first look’ photo shoot prior to the ceremony. At first it seemed weird to go against tradition but then again Matt and I wanted our day to be totally “us” and we loved the idea of a special moment prior to the ceremony to help put us in a relaxed and loved up mood before heading down the isle. Plus let’s be real we really wanted to join our guests for the second half of cocktail hour. The first look turned out to be one of our favorite moments, it was so special. The pictures are incredible. We can’t thank Sarah and her husband Ramon enough! They captured every single moment of our special day and the photos are perfect, absolutely gorgeous!!

The wedding day itself was unbelievable – absolute perfection! In keeping with the theme of our big day being all about us, we decided to ask Matt’s gregarious cousin to officiate our ceremony. Jeff was a huge hit and set the tone for what would be the most fun, meaningful and memorable day of our entire lives. The flowers designed by Pina Hernandez were beyond perfect. The effortless natural flow of Pina’s arrangements in addition to the vibrant pops of color and fresh greens looked absolutely stunning against the natural beauty of Los Cabos. Our wonderful friend Helen Fukkari, owner of Pocket Full of Sunshine Styling, is a phenomenally talented artist and designer. Helen did such a magnificent job with all of the paper goods and signage for our wedding as well as advising us on how to tie together all of our wants into a picture perfect wedding motif that was distinctly us. She was crucial to our sanity during the whole process and put up with my excruciating overanalyzes of every little detail. Helen held my hand and expertly helped me add all the special touches like the piñata guest book, photo table, our special little stars and more to help fulfill our vision. In additional to her beautiful designs, Helen jumped in on our weeding day and made sure every detail was perfectly executed by all of our vendors. As with any wedding day, there a few minor surprises and Helen was masterful in keeping Matt and I calm and focused on what the day was all about, as Matt says, “Helen was like Chuck Noll on Superbowl Sunday and she had her game face on!”

The delicious food and impeccable service at the 7 Seas Restaurant was unparalleled. The white lights covering the palapa roof and the special star lanterns added a warm glow to the breathtaking scene. The speeches made by my bridesmaids, my sister Sarah and my childhood bestie Jenna, as well as Matt’s best man, his best friend Julien – were all outstanding. Each speech was personal, poignant and hilarious – simply stellar. Our nieces and nephews at the children’s table were thoroughly entertained by the special art sets put together by my sister in-law Marina in honor of our precious angels as well as the Lulu & Leo Fund and ChooseCreativity.org. Our wedding cake, a two tiered lemon cake with fresh blueberries and a cream cheese frosting, was delectable and we loved our cake topper designed by Wedding Go Paper Co because it was so us and included our dog – our precious little love, Bentley.

One of the highlights of our wedding was the dance party. DJ Teeven provided the perfect soundtrack for the most important day of our lives. Music is very important to both of us and we really struggled with it. The music was fantastic from start to finish and Edwin really listened to us when we communicated our likes and dislikes and was able to deliver a non-traditional music format that was unique to us. There was not a single song played at our reception that didn’t have people on the dance floor dancing like no one was watching. Our reception was an absolute blast and DJ Teeven deserves a huge thank you for getting everyone in the spirit for celebrating (The bartenders didn’t hurt the cause either!).

In the end all of our guests had one of the best nights ever. We laughed, we danced and we celebrated love. The only time the party stopped was when baby turtles began to hatch (totally out of season!) on the sand and made their way to the sea. The baby turtles were a profound symbol of life, love and new beginnings. Our wedding was in fact the best day of our lives and will forever be one of our favorite memories. BEST DAY EVER!!

We’ve Just Found the Most Romantic Spot in New Orleans’ French Quarter

Hidden away at the Carmelite Monastery, lush romance overflows, seeping into every image from Trent Bailey. Created by Sapphire Events, this sultry scene before us is alluring and inspiring – from Distressed Rental + Revival’s pieces to Melissa’s Fine Pastries’ cake that doubles as a work of art. Fall in love with this look and this Southern spot before the rest of the world gets the word – all in our Vault right here!

From Sapphire Events… This styled shoot was a collaborative effort between Sapphire Events and Trent Bailey Photography. The abandoned Carmelite Monastery from the 1800s tucked away in the heart of the French Quarter served as the inspiration for this shoot. The bouquet created by Kim Starr Wise mirrored the overgrown, wild, and lush feel of the Monastery’s hidden courtyard. The Romona Keveza gown served as the perfect contrast to the structured, ornate architecture of the historic building. Trent Bailey perfectly captured on film the magic and intimacy of the exclusive venue.
