Beyond Adorable San Francisco Engagement Shoot

Does it get any cuter than these two right here!? (The answer’s no in case you had any doubts). From popping bottles of champagne to a tulle skirt that I’d like hanging in my own closet, this engagement session from Jasmine Lee is picture perfect. This soon-to-be husband and wife smiled and snuggled all over San Fran and our Vault can’t get enough of the darling duo!

From the Bride-to-be… Kevin and I met and live in San Francisco so the city holds so much meaning to us. We wanted to be sure to incorporate San Francisco into our engagement shoot while staying unique to locations that are typically used by other couples. We chose Cavallo Point as our first location since it’s right across the Golden Gate Bridge and has some of the best views of the city! Jasmine suggested we shoot mid-week which was a great idea as we had the location almost entirely to ourselves. For the second half of our shoot, we wanted a more laid back vibe. Jasmine really impressed us with her scouting skills as she found our second location, Rodeo Beach. Rodeo Beach is beyond beautiful and we were able to capture some really amazing moments before the sun set. This was such a fun shoot and we cherish all of our photos from it! I would really suggest to other couples to do an engagement shoot with their wedding photographer if they can; there really is no better way to get to know your photographer and feel comfortable shooting before your wedding day!

All Roads Lead to Charming with this Stunning Southern Garden Party

Take a cue from this southern garden party for infusing next level charm into your upcoming event. It has polished yet cheeky papergoods, a properly set table with a view and blooms in full effect. Who wouldn’t want to sip on a cocktail next to that beauty? Designed by Calder Clark Designs for the stationery brand Mrs. John L. Strong, each square inch packs an incredibly charming punch. Get your southern soiree on with even more captured by Lucy Cuneo Photography in the VAULT.

The Madison Avenue based stationery brand Mrs John L Strong gathered a crowd of powerful women in Charleston to celebrate the brand’s launch in design store Fritz Porter. The women at the event worked across the design, fashion and lifestyle industries and included designer Lindsey Carter of Troubadour, Stacy Smallwood of Hampden Clothing, interior designers Angie Hranowsky and Olivia Brock as well as Chassity Evans, lifestyle blogger behind Look Linger Love.

Sarah-Hamlin Hastings, the founder of Fritz Porter, held the gathering at her beautiful Charleston home, which was originally her grandparent’s home and invited top wedding and event planner Calder Clark to design the intimate dinner.

The tablecloth, in Fiddle Leaf Fig from Kentucky based fabric brand Ferrick Mason was adorned with calligraphed Mrs John L Strong place cards and menus and whimsical coasters from their latest collection.

Mrs John L Strong, the stationery brand who counts everyone from Jackie Kennedy to Marilyn Monroe among their storied clientele has always been stocked through their New York offices or Bergdorf Goodman but thought Charleston was a natural fit given the traditional background and strong sense of entertaining.

The food, catered by Calder favorite Cru Catering featured Southern highlights such as miniature cornbread whoopie pies and Crab Louis stack.

Legacy Anniversary Session: 50 Years of Love & Marriage

If there was ever a couple to embody everlasting love, Ken and Phyllis are it. Because these two? Totally ah-dorable. And their 50 year anniversary? Even more so. Complete with a quiet breakfast and an afternoon stroll, Kylie Martin captured it all to share and we’ve got it waiting for you in The Vault!

From Kylie MartinThis lovely couple celebrated over five decades of love and marriage together this spring in Charleston, South Carolina.  They started off their morning with a quite stroll through the grounds of Riveroaks, followed by an intimate breakfast over coffee. After a peaceful morning of laughing and walking together, Phyllis pulled out her family photo album that has been passed down from generation to generation. They both looked over it, shared stories and reminisced. In between shots they shared stories of their lives together and their family.

Their love story began in high school – Ken says he saw Phyllis playing the piano in the school orchestra and fell in love – Phyllis says it took her awhile to be interested in him. But we know the end of the story! Fifty-seven years, two children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren later their love for each other is greater and stronger.

They have lived all over the United States – coast to coast – and with each move we became active with a local church, embraced the local community and enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. Ken’s career and Phyllis’ spirit of adventure made each move exciting. Every day brings a new adventure to add to their life’s journey, for they believe God has given them these experiences to share with others who may be embarking on a similar path.

Ken says they have a marriage of equals, each with a different role. Phyllis says that when a decision must be made and they don’t agree that she believes God has given Ken the responsibility to make that decision! That has been the recipe for their 57 years and given them a love and respect for each other that is greater today than it ever was!

From With This Ring Wedding Films… Once in a while a wedding comes along that’s so epic, so grandiose, and so much fun that we can’t wait to share it! We spent four days filming in New York with Preksha and Ankit and put together this same-day edit to screen on Saturday, the evening of their wedding reception.

We spent the afternoon of day one in Central Park on the lake and enjoyed Ankit’s Mehndi in the evening. Day two saw us covering Preksha’s Mehndi in the morning and their Sangeet reception later that night at the elegant Chateau Briand, and day three featured their super colorful Turmeric ceremonies and a little filming at Preksha and Ankit’s middle school (where they met – how cute is that?). They tied the knot on the fourth day at the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson backed by the expansive NYC skyline and celebrated into the evening as the newly minted Mr. and Mrs. Butala!

So many vendors came together to make this amazing wedding weekend perfect, including the experienced team of Jay Seth Photography and rockstar event planners Reema and Kurien of RB Event Design.

From Kayla Barker Fine Art PhotographyI was so delighted when Laura and David asked me to be a part of their elegant wedding in the historic San Juan, Puerto Rico. Their wedding ceremony took place after dark at the historic fort, Castillo San Cristobal. It was a romantic ceremony by candlelight with guitar playing by Pancho Irizarry. Their reception took place at Hotel El Convento, which was built in 1646 as a Carmelite convent and is now a popular venue in Old San Juan. The elegant black and white wedding design by Maria Lugo with floral design by Arquetipo mimicked the beautiful black and white checkered floor. Huge gold candelabras drew your eye up to the arched ceiling and large chandeliers. Laura and David celebrated with their family and friends that had journeyed from all over the United States to historic San Juan. It was a beautiful and romantic night and wedding weekend!

‘Nashville’ Star Nick Jandl and Stylist Regalia Thomas Tie the Knot!

Not many weddings are able to strike just the right balance of “rustic” and “elegant,” but then again, not many weddings are DIY-ed by a pair of Hollywood insiders turned bride and groom. Nick Jandl, who you might recognize from Nashville and Regalia Thomas, a costume and wardrobe stylist didn’t want the cookie cutter wedding, and instead took a heavy hand in the design themselves. Meaningful details were at the heart of their day captured by Next Exit Photography and you can visit The Vault for more plus read on for an interview with the newlyweds!

SMP: What was the initial vision for your wedding day?

Nick and Regalia: We wanted to capture the place that we met – California – with our individual style so that the wedding didn’t feel pre-packaged or like something straight from an online template. We love the rugged coastline of Malibu, and the venue we settled on, Rancho del Cielo, was perfect for us. We wanted to avoid a venue that would have required full top-to-bottom personalization and styling, and Rancho already possessed ninety percent of the look and energy we were going for. It’s surrounded by so many native plants and has a jaw-dropping view of the ocean, and it was the perfect place for the rustic yet elegant style we wanted for the wedding.

SMP: Which decor elements did you decide to DIY?

N & R: We didn’t initially see ourselves doing much DIY, but it turned out to be a lot in the end! The more we did, the better we felt about the wedding becoming as personal to us as possible. It’s so meaningful when you craft things by hand and have them become a part of your day. Regalia bought linen fabric in bulk and cut and sewed all twelve table runners with a colleague of hers. Nick designed and assembled a lot of the framed signs and printed materials. We also had guests contribute to the DIY by having a “Jenga guest book” during the reception where guests could sign or write notes on the individual game pieces.

SMP: Any meaningful details you included in the design?

N & R: Early on, Regalia realized that a cohesive yet mismatched style would really fit the look that we wanted for the wedding. We wanted to strike an elegant but casual tone, and we did this through finding variations within common themes. For example, all of the table centerpieces were composed of silver trays and glass vases, but they were gathered both from home and scoured from flea markets, so they fit an overall scheme but no two tables were identical. We also extended this concept to our bridal party, so the bridesmaids all chose their own dresses within a rose/nude color palate, and the groomsmen used dark navy suits of their choosing. This way we avoided looking too uniform and matching, yet the bridal party still had a style that fit together well.

SMP: How did you decide on your fabulous photographer?

N & R: At our first consultation with Next Exit Photography we discovered Nick and Cat shared the same alma mater, Tufts University in Boston. Even though they didn’t know each other while there, Nick felt it was a great connection to share while working together and trusting our wedding with a fellow alum! Along with other Tufts alum in attendance, Cat’s 2nd photographer snapped a group photo to share with their alumni magazine.

SMP: Favorite moment from the wedding day that you’ll never forget?

N & R: A little way into the evening, some heavy clouds started to move in, obscuring the amazing view of the Pacific ocean. We were a little bummed until later on, we noticed many of our guests standing away from the dance floor and taking in the view. We turned around and saw that the entire cloud layer had settled below our venue on the hill, so we were literally above the clouds for the rest of the night. It was one of those things you couldn’t possibly have predicted, and it was absolutely magical.

What are you most looking forward to in your life as newlyweds?

N & R: Not having to plan another party this complicated ever again! But it was worth all of the time and effort it took. We’re so grateful for how it all turned out.

Love must be in the air, because the Chinese divers weren’t the first Olympic athletes to get engaged in Rio. Brazilian rugby player Isadora Cerullo and girlfriend Marjorie Enya got engaged earlier in the week with a gold ribbon temporarily taking the place of a ring.

Rustic

From The Bride…After the thrill of our engagement, the planning and execution of our 200 guest fall wedding was truly a family affair. From my mother and I designing and planning every detail of this day together, to my father singing our first dance song and hand-making 12 rustic farm tables for the reception, each and every element was carefully thought out and created with love and purpose!

My husband Kyle and I grew up in the same Chicago suburb and after moving downtown, we originally thought our wedding would take place in the city. I had plans for a rustic and glam soiree in a shabby-chic Chicago warehouse, but then we stumbled upon Oak Hill Farm: a little slice of heaven on earth. Tucked in the rolling hills of the Midwest (in Galena, IL about three hours west of downtown Chicago), it was the most beautiful, peaceful piece of land we had ever seen! The privately owned horse farm doubles as a wedding venue and home to the family who lives there, and we knew immediately that this is where we were meant to get married. As a major horse lover and former equestrian, the thought of us tying the knot in their vintage 19th century chapel that sits atop the back hill, with four blonde clydesdale horses galloping in the background, was almost too good to be true! With our hearts set on a Fall wedding, we booked October 10th, 2015 and the planning began.

As a business owner of busywrist with a passion for all things visual and unique, I knew from the start that aspects of our wedding would be non-traditional. I wanted our wedding to reflect our style; tasteful yet minimal with a bit of an edge. I love simplicity and a neutral color palette, and therefore quickly decided to have my six bridesmaids wear white full-length dresses with me (something that definitely raised a lot of eyebrows at first) and also decided against traditional flowers at the wedding (cue more eyebrow raises), with the exception of my gorgeous bouquet. I also personally created our menus, programs, invitation suite and save-the-dates, and tried to reflect the simple, rustic, yet modernistic vibe we were trying to evoke.

My mother and I were determined to design and execute this wedding ourselves, something we both thoroughly enjoyed, and at times admittedly detested! I had dreams of filling the tent at Oak Hill with shades of white, hints of gold, and rustic hues; lush greenery table runners against dark provincial farm tables, oversized vases filled with impossibly tall branches, lace layered on linens to create texture at the round tables, and brass candlesticks lining the tables holding a romantic, open tapered flame. My father is a mason contractor and all around talented handy-man, thanks to him our vision was able to come to life. He built 12 huge, ten-person farm tables by hand, which we interspersed throughout the tent in combination with 10 round tables to seat our 200 guests. Additionally, he hand carved slabs of limestone with slits to accommodate our guest’s place cards (an idea my mother and I had after racking our brains to come up with something we hadn’t seen before), as well as chunks of stone for the tables that I then painted numbers on. At each table we decided to gift our guests with items to “keep them warm” on that cool Fall evening. We hung white pashmina scarves on the backs of all the ladies chairs, and for the men, miniature bottles of Knob Creek Bourbon were placed at the head of their plates. The Knob Creek was a touching tribute (perhaps my favorite detail of the wedding) to my husband’s late father – it was his drink of choice and we felt it the perfect way to honor him that day.

As for the fashion! The road to my dream-gown was long and windy, but well worth the journey. If I could somehow wear that dress every day for the rest of my life, I would. I wanted a non-traditional, long sleeve gown. I’m not a “girly girl” and was looking for something sleek and minimalistic, yet elegant and bold. Easy, right? I had an idea of what I was looking for, but knew it had to be custom made to fit me properly and after many failed attempts at finding the right designer to work with, I finally happened upon my couture fairy godmother, Lovisa Tedestedt of LOVA Weddings. Lovisa helped design me the most perfect dress, and it fit me like a glove. We decided to overlay a thin, dreamy tulle skirt over the dress for the ceremony look, which I then took off for the reception. The amazing veil I wore was made by Theia. As soon as I laid eyes on it I knew the hundreds of cascading silk petals would be the perfect added touch to my simple, chic, backless gown. My ceremony shoes were a pair of Sam Edelman kitten heels and I later traded those in for my go-to white Adidas Originals sneakers for the reception! As for the groom, my fiance and I both loved the idea of him and his groomsmen wearing blue (the only real color at our wedding!), and he had a beautiful suit custom made at Alton Lane.

Aside from trying to perfect all the details, all Kyle and I cared about was everyone having fun. We wanted the wedding to be unlike anything our guests had ever been to, and thanks to Oak Hill Farm and our families, we were able to do just that. Their unique property allowed us to create an adventure for our guests, with so much to see and do (beautiful horses, an old schoolhouse where the cocktail hour was held, a replica “country store” where they could look around and help themselves to a candy bar, and so much more). We both come from very large families, and we were truly ecstatic to see them all in one place. Everyone made a weekend out of it, and we loved having so many people join us for a mini-vacation out in the Midwestern countryside. My father is also an incredibly talented musician, and the awesome band we hired was cool enough to not only let him sing our first dance song, but they also let my dad and his band do a set of songs later on in the reception. The night was just perfect. We ate a “fancy barbeque” themed meal, drank, danced, sang, laughed, and danced some more!

From Umbrellas to OMG Views!

This duo always knew that a destination wedding was in the cards for them so when it came time to pick a place to become Mr. and Mrs. they set their sights on the beautiful Caribbean island of Anguilla. When rain made an appearance at their ceremony, smiles never faded and when those umbrellas were soon put away, stunning views took their place. Alison Conklin captured it all – see it all in our Vault this way!

From the Bride…  Mike and I met in high school through a mutual friend, although romance wasn’t in the cards until 10 years later. Our two groups of friends hung out for a few months in high school, but we quickly faded out of each other’s lives until the stars aligned and we ended up living in the same building in Manhattan after college. An innocent elevator encounter led to some Facebook stalking and messaging, which led to a first date… and the rest, as they say, is history.

We share a love for travel and after attending my best friend’s wedding in Turks and Caicos, we knew that when it was our turn, a destination wedding was the way to go. We had been scouting Anguilla for a potential vacation spot, and after seeing pictures of the Viceroy on Instagram and showing them to Mike, he casually said, “We should get married there”. When he proposed two weeks later in Long Beach Island, NJ, we barely finished our first bottle of champagne on the beach with friends before I had sent an inquiry to the Viceroy.

We were enamored with the chic, modern decor and breathtaking views the Viceroy offered and booked our venue without ever seeing it in person. The Viceroy provided us with a wedding coordinator who took all of the stress out of planning a wedding from so far away. Couture Concepts helped bring our vision of a romantic, candlelit reception to life. I will never forget entering the room and seeing the candles reflecting in the windows, which truly took my breath away.

While the weather the whole weekend was perfect, it didn’t exactly cooperate the day of the wedding, and the sky opened up just as I started walking down the aisle. Luckily, it didn’t last long enough to prevent Mike and I from exchanging vows in front of the picture perfect view that sold us on the location to begin with. Mike’s oldest friend officiated our ceremony in front of 75 of our closest friends and family, which made the day all that more special.

One of the greatest things about having a destination wedding is that everyone is on vacation and ready to let loose, which made our reception one of the most epic dance parties I’ve ever been to. Our guests danced the night away, and ended the night with some mini grilled cheeses and a dip in the pool.

After the biggest weekend of our life was over, we were thankful to have something else to look forward to – receiving our photos from Alison Conklin and video from Jet Kaiser. They didn’t let us down! We couldn’t be more thrilled with their work, which truly captured all the love that was in the air that day and all the small moments that may have otherwise faded into the back of our memories. When we look back at the photos and video, we can’t believe that was our own wedding.

Our entire wedding weekend was a dream come true. We were thankful that we were able to spend so much quality time with our friends and family – something that is truly precious with everyone being so busy. We couldn’t have picked a more perfect place to kick off our married life together – the memories will last a lifetime.

Whimsical Summer Wedding Complete with Several Cute Cakes!

Two things stand out in this Vault gallery from Averyhouse: this Bride legit never stopped smiling, and her wedding cakes? Epic. We’re talking not only funfetti but a selection of super sweet treats that leave us jaw-dropped – and hungry. Lucky for us, our cravings can be satisfied with all these pics from this Chicago Botanic Garden shindig – this, my friends, is summer celebration success.

From Averyhouse… With fresh summery details imbued with a whimsical and bohemian flair, we bring you Kate and Derek’s Chicago Botanic Garden wedding. Half of this adorable duo is part of Chicago’s amazing wedding industry and we couldn’t have imagined anything less from this chic couple on their big day. Kate played off of blush, natural greens, and ivory for her color scheme which was perfect for an already stunning outdoor venue. Add in the perfect amount of sunshine, whispy white dresses for her bridesmaids, and a groom reduced to tears during their first look and you’ve got yourself the perfect Chicago wedding. This sweet day will always hold a special place in our hearts!

It Doesn’t Get More Charming Than a French Countryside Wedding

I’m not sure whether it’s Madame Artisan Fleuriste pretty florals, Sylvie Gil’s dreamy photographs, or the quaint countryside setting itself, but this wedding has completely captured my heart. Simple and sweet, the couple kept the extra fuss to a minimum and let the joy-filled moments speak for themselves. See the day for yourself, little French chapel included.

From The Bride…We wanted something like us, like what we love most in our everyday life. So basically chic but not bling, amazing food and wine, simple, smart, and authentic. It took place in the vineyard of Laurent’s family where there are very old trees, hectares of vines, olive trees, a beautiful, romantic and provencal castle and an amazing tiny chapel, where we have celebrated our union.

Balancing a Modern Office Space with the Perfect Touch of Pink

A combination of fashion savvy glamour and a touch of pink give this office an A+ in the style category. It balances fun graphic prints with feminine details perfectly. The head boss in charge wanted a space that felt whimsical and girly all while maintaining a modern feel and she nailed it. See this study in how to use pink without going overboard photographed by Table4 Weddings in the VAULT.

There are so many lovely inspirations out there for the decorator in today’s world, it can seem easy to tackle designing an office. However, it remains a challenge to make a space unique and livable.

When I started decorating mine, I knew that I wanted a modern feminine approach but I also wanted playful graphic touches. I wanted to collect whimsical treatments of modern art in a more approachable manner, so I started looking in unusual places on the web, as well as looking through my own photography collection.

Pink is a popular motif and I wanted to incorporate this cheerful color but wasn’t sure how long I could commit to it.

So I invested in small pink pieces that would make a big impact but were not too expensive. I spend a lot of time in this fun space and the strong yet feminine approach keep me both energized and comfortable.
