Wedding Guests Reveal the Worst Thing They’ve Ever Seen at a Wedding

You know how they say, “you learn from your mistakes?” Well, today, prepare to learn from the mistakes of others. Because, even if you were to imagine your wedding day worst-case scenario, we’re willing to bet the situations these Redditors witnessed are infinitely worse. Moral of the story? Avoid exes, family brawls and guests having a little too much fun with the open bar.

“I was best man in a wedding. I was standing next to the couple at the reception and the bride was tipsy (groom was sober). She told him aloud ‘I’m not really that in love with you…. but I think you’ll be a good husband.’ The look on his face sucked all the joy from me. He tried to laugh it off and told her to hush but he was tearing up as they walked away.” —winkers

“Probably when the bride came storming into the men’s room, screaming that it was the last dance, and everyone needed to be on the dance floor, or her night would be ruined.” —themoneyofart

“The bride was absolutely plastered, bar was closed, and she’s leaning against the bar. Some really dorky guy comes up to her and starts telling her how he thought they always more than friends, and they had a deep connection, and as if to just shut this moron up, the bride pulls the top of her dress down, says ‘There,’ and then walks away.” —philmorrisjunkie

“Two of my friends got married. The groom cheated on his bride quite often, including the night before the wedding. An anonymous text was sent out and spilled the beans to the bride. A fight ensued, but the wedding continued as planned. Also, the girl that did the bride’s makeup for the wedding…well, that was the girl who had been sleeping with the groom. I have never witnessed a more awkward situation in my life.” —ball_in_uh_cup

“My mom toasting the groom… (not me, thankfully) and saying how thankful she was to have the bride come into his life, thereby removing any questions about the groom’s sexual orientation.” —Daybreak74

“In comes an old Italian woman screaming ‘THEY’RE FIGHTING, THEY’RE FIGHTING!’ and before you could say amore the whole hall had emptied and everyone had rushed the parking lot. Outside 400 people were swinging there fists anywhere they could. Italian men fighting Polish men, Polish women fighting Italian women, there were even some kids throwing punches at each other. There was nothing any of the employees or owners could do but watch and wait for the cops to show up.” —DaHossBoss

“After everybody eats the potluck stuff and had a few fine beverages, the bride’s mother exclaimed that this party needs some entertainment. She then tried to convince her very pregnant daughter (the bride) to do a pole dance and strip tease on a tent pole. Her daughter refused. And that’s when she decided to take matters into her own hands.” —admiralwaffles

“All was going well until my five-year-old cousin, the ring bearer, takes the cushion with the ring on it and spins it above his head, throwing it at the flower girl, my four-year-old cousin who had been making faces at him, leaving the bride’s ring nowhere to be found. It took all of the bridesmaids and groomsmen a good while of crawling around on their knees to recover it.” —syowangza

“The groom decided half way through the ceremony that he didn’t want to get married. He was then attacked by the father and brother of the bride. After a brawl (and a few bloody noses) he changed his mind and they got married.” —_Arimanius

“During the cutting of the cake, the bride shoved cake in the grooms face. When he tried to return the favor, she tried to dodge and hit her head on the corner of a wall mounted cabinet. Gave her a nice bruise.” —Blasterbot

“My MIL’s one daughter had an outdoor wedding the summer when West Nile virus was all over the news. So, to get attention, she threw a giant fit, and showed up to the wedding wearing a pith helmet she had brought back from Australia, in camouflage, with mosquito netting, and refused to take it off. She is in all the wedding photos like this, the mother of the bride, looking entirely pleased with herself.”

“While in the reception line immediately following the wedding of my cousin Brad, there was a lady in front of us with a 5 year old child. When she came up to Brad we could tell that he was noticeably uncomfortable seeing this woman. She looked at Brad and asked ‘Do you happen to remember that party 6 years ago that we hooked up at? Well this is your daughter, see you soon.’ and walked away….” —Offcrandy

“I could hear them screaming and swearing at each other and then I heard a horrible scream. I called the police, and then the bride came in with a horrible bloody nose and blood all over her gown. Turns out the groom had slept with the maid of honor the night before, and when the bride called her out on it, the maid of honor punched her in the face and ran off.” —girly_416

“I officiated my best friend’s wedding. She got married in front of a fountain on a scenic set of stairs in a park. Halfway through the ceremony, a lady on her cellphone , walking two dogs and her (maybe 8 year old) daughter in tow walked right through the ceremony. She stopped by the fountain right next to me and carried out a conversation about a woman she worked with being a bitch and a skeezy ho.” —sig863

“It was our high school friend’s wedding and she had a way of getting guys to fall for her left and right… last thing you would think is that she would invite them to the wedding. Sure enough, one guy broke down in the middle of the aisle crying to show he still had an obsession of her, and other guy, during the little speech phase of the wedding said this ‘You are a very lucky man, and I hope to find a woman as lovely as you’ while sitting next to his girlfriend… the greatest face palm moment for for any wedding.” —KamFox

Planning a Fall 2017 Wedding? This Holman Ranch Fete is a Must-See.

When it came to my own I Do’s, I seriously contemplated trading the east coast for the west and doing a California destination wedding. The venue at the top of my list? Holman Ranch. It’s the perfect backdrop for a blend of rustic elegance and this affair from Coastside CoutureSeascape Flowers and Julie Cahill Photography is the proof. Want more? It’s all sitting pretty in The Vault.

From Coastside CoutureSarah and Andrew hired the A-team for their romantic wedding at Holman Ranch this past October. Since California is known for it’s Indian Summers, we wanted to make sure that the the decor felt warm and bright even though it was an Autumn wedding. To encompass the feel of Fall, shades of blue and green were used throughout the wedding day between the cool pastel bridesmaid dresses, lush garland, ceremony floral, and dark blue velvet table linen. To incorporate the warm weather, Seascape Flowers added pops of pink and orange throughout the floral to keep the floral light and cheery for this easy going couple. We loved the whimsical sophistication of the contrasting colors! In addition to a gorgeous setting, the bride had her heart set on a “booth bus” photobooth, but all of the Booth Buses were rented out. To compromise, our adorable groom surprised his new wife with an old fashion Volkswagen he rented as well as a regular open air photobooth to create a unique photobooth with the bus as a backdrop, which we loved!

Greenery Isn’t Just Pantone’s Color of 2017 – We’re Won Over Too!

When I first heard that Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year was “greenery”, I was a little perplexed; how could we infuse this shade into our wedding repertoire? It’s super lovely but definitely not as commonly celebratory as other hues. But then Elyse Hall came around with this shoot, inspired by those gorgeous greens, and all doubts disappeared from my mind. With help from Atelier de Lafleur, we have wedding pics that is sure to inspire for all of 2017 and beyond. See more in our Vault right this way!

From Elyse HallThere’s nothing more romantic than an outdoor wedding and reception dinner – except maybe an outdoor wedding and reception dinner at the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale. This wedding inspiration shoot went even more romantic with the abundance of full fern foliage, an amazing flower wall lounge space and stunning ceremony and dinner views.

The inspired design direction by Revel Wedding Company and Elyse Hall Photography was to stay true to the romance and classic nature of neutrals: ivory, cream, nude and white. Together, with Atelier de Lafleur, they created a magical moment for the love birds to revel in. The monochromatic color palette was accented only with the vibrant color of the year, greenery and touches of beautiful gold. Fern took center stage in the bride’s bouquet, the cake and the eclectic ceremony design. Atelier de Lafleur also created the most magnificent floral wall to frame the beautiful seating area by Glamour and Woods.

The bride stunned in a romantic gown and veil bridal boutique Lillian Lottie and exuded ethereal beauty with make up by Ashley Doran and hair by Emily Hughes.

The Bride Wore Dior Couture for Her Paris Engagement!

Can we just talk about this bride’s pink ombre dream dress? Because it’s pretty much everything. Inspired by Natalie Portman’s iconic Miss Dior gown, it’s a show-stopper made for a Parisian engagement shoot and a gorgeous bride like Ann to pull it off. Greg Finck made sure the dress (and of course, the couple) we’re perfectly captured and their wedding reveal is coming up later today!

Create The Perfect Girl’s Oasis with Three Simple Tricks

I could wax poetic about Kendall Simmons all live long day if you let me and it has a lot to do with her gorgeous interiors, print mixing abilities and enviable kids spaces. But you know what else I love about Kendall? She gives killer advice. Case in point, this wallpapered gem that comes bearing 3 simple tricks to crafting the ultimate girl’s oasis.

This sweet blue and white girl’s room belongs to Lila. She’s 8 years old, and was in need of an upgrade from her previous little girl space. Lila’s mom reached out to me to help create a retreat fit for a big girl, with the goal of longevity in mind. We set out to design a room that feels perfectly comfortable for an 8 year old, but can easily transition for an 18 year old with only a few tweaks.

The following are three easy methods to create the perfect space for any little girl, no matter the age.

1. Make one big statement

Choose an item to splurge on. You only need one, but make it a good one! For Lila’s room, we decided to go all out with a wall of Rebecca Atwood wallpaper behind the bed. The watercolor floral pattern is whimsical enough for a child, but at the same time it’s sophisticated enough for a young adult. Actually, now that I’m typing that sentence, I think it’s perfect even for a not so young adult!

2. Mix and match your textiles

Add layers and interesting combinations of fabrics. So often, children’s rooms fall into the trap of everything being perfectly matched. Avoid that urge! Don’t buy the bed-in-a-bag kit! The mixture of fun, unexpected bedding and fabrics add visual interest and help a room feel like it’s been collected over time. For example, in this room I mixed completely different fabrics for sheets, coverlet, quilt, shams, and accent pillows. I also added textured drapery with fun tassels, and a big mixture of unmatched pillows on Lila’s window seat.

3. Create contemplative space

In 2017, everyone is inundated with screens and technology. For children, be sure to carve out a little bit of space just for reading, drawing, thinking and relaxing. For Lila, the beautiful window seat with new cushions and pillows is her contemplative space.

Inspired by the Most Stunning Lace Dress

For this Winter inspiration, it all started with a dress. Backless, lace and insanely beautiful to be exact from Erin Grey Couture. From there, HART & CO. Events crafted a shoot layered in texture and bursting with lush blooms by Springvine Design. If you like lace or velvet or florals literally hanging from the heavens, then pop on over the the vault captured by Almond Leaf Studios for so much more.

From the planner… When Charlotte based bridal boutique owner and couture gown maker CJ Bostrom reached out to me about creating a wintery, romantic shoot in the Asheville mountains, I knew right away this was going to be something special! CJ created an amazing lace gown for her Erin Grey Couture line that is simply stunning and served as inspiration as I pulled together the rest of the design elements.

With hints of silver and gold woven in the gown, I incorporated a mix of the two metals throughout the table design. A gorgeous velvet linen from La Tavola created the perfect base, and allowed for those hints of silver and gold to stand out. I tried to keep everything else about the table simple yet classic and nothing that would take away from Springvine Design’s amazing hanging greenery and floral garland.

Springvine created a beautiful bouquet and we were lucky to have some Renee Pawlee jewelry plus beautiful rings from Trumpet & Horn to complete the bride’s look. For our groom, we decked him out in a classic black tux with a velvet bowtie from Men’s Wearhouse. The two are quite a dapper pair!

Engaged Asheville’s studio space gave us the perfect overall backdrop for our shoot. The clean white space and windows that let tons of natural light flow in was incredible.

Bohemian Ink created a beautiful invitation suite that was both romantic and whimsical. Jess is an incredibly talented artist in Charlotte and each piece she makes is really a work of art!

I always try to keep a look consistent and Wow Factor Cakes did just that by carrying the mix silver and gold into their cake design. The curves of the top tier were inspired by the gold curves of the chargers on the table. And they even brought in a lace pattern on the bottom layer of the cake that was similar to the pattern on the salad plates.

A Wedding Combining Chinese + Jewish Traditions

Planning a multicultural wedding is often easier said than done. Particularly when that wedding includes both a Chinese Tea ceremony and a Jewish Bedeken Signing Ceremony designed into one cohesive event. Luckily, Michelle and Zach had Shaw Events by their side who planned all of the above with elegance and style. Watch the day unfold straight from the lens of When He Found Her.

From Danielle, the planner… When Michelle and Zach began to plan their wedding day, they knew they wanted to combine their families traditions and honor their individual backgrounds. Instead of compromising on which traditions they would include, they decided to host a full day event, including a traditional Chinese Tea ceremony and intimate Jewish Bedeken signing ceremony for their immediate family and friends; along with a more formal Jewish ceremony for all of their guests. Choosing the stunning grounds of Kurtz Orchards’ Gracewood Estate, Michelle and Zach worked with Shaw Events to create a timeline that worked seamlessly and set up that utilized different areas of the property for each ceremony. This kept the guests interested and allowed them to see the beauty the venue had to offer. That beauty was accented by the stunning floral design by Bloom & Co. and decor by Simply Beautiful Decor.

The Bride and Groom then chose to end the evening with dinner under the stars. It was served at a large family style dining table, among the cherry trees, and wrapped up with a twelve-foot dessert spread by sweet celebrations. Their guests then danced away the night under a marquee tent. Everything was beautifully captured by When He Found Her and Brightside Films.

A Wedding Shoot Inspired by Hit Movie, Legends of the Fall

Did you ever watch the movie Legends of the Fall? (I can’t believe it came out 23 years ago!) The raw beauty of that film always stuck with me… so when Jeremiah and Rachel Photography and Greenwood Events sent over this inspiration shoot that SO perfectly captures that ranch life, I knew it was a sure win for those of you planning rustic fetes. It’s one you’ll want to spend some time pinning my friends, promise.

From Jeremiah and Rachel PhotographyThis past September, we had the privilege of collaborating with Greenwood Events and The Resort at Paw’s Up to work on a shoot that had been on our hearts for years. We had a vision of showing Montana in it’s best light, romantic, wild, passionate and untouched. We adore the story Legends of the Fall, and Tristan’s fight against himself. It might be a tragic story, but the happiest he is in that movie is when he’s with his true love, Isobel. And that’s where this shoot was born from. The Resort at Paw’s Up is one of the most beautiful places in Montana, and just being on the ranch was awe inspiring. Darci and Arden of Greenwood Events tapped right into our hearts and created this entire setting, even making a field of wildflowers for our lovely couple.

From the Bride… We actually lived around the corner from one another growing up and went to the same middle school but never met. It wasn’t until two moves and many years later that we met at a Model United Nations event at a local high school. We started dating in 2001 and were together for 13 years when Albert proposed in Thailand.

In May 2015, we went on a SE Asia trip with some of our best friends, Jessie and Chris. We went island hopping, to Koh Phi Phi to visit Maya Beach. With only a few hours to spare before catching the ferry back to Krabi, we dipped in the ocean and took countless photos of the picturesque limestone cliffs and teal ocean water. Though I found the ring the day prior, I had forgotten about it while experiencing the beauty of this beach. So I did not find it odd when Albert wanted to take scenic photos together, with our backs facing the camera manned by Jessie. Albert secretly extended his hand behind my back, signaling Chris to place the ring box in his palm. When I pulled away after the photos were taken, Albert grabbed me, showed me the ring box, and went down on one knee. Upon opening the ring box, he said, “uhh I don’t have a speech so I’m just going to ask. Will you marry me?”

We knew we wanted a wine country wedding but we wanted a location that wasn’t just a winery; we wanted something more unique, whimsical, and allowed hard alcohol. We did not have a theme or color scheme; instead we wanted soft muted tones everywhere with a lot of florals and greenery. We were lucky with Cornerstone Sonoma in the sense that the venue didn’t require much in terms of decor, it is already beautiful on its own. Ashley Brand of LVL was our wedding planner. We had a video call with her and enjoyed chatting with her and virtually meeting her dog, a yorkie and maltese mix, and knew she would be wonderful as our day-of coordinator. Working in the Silicon Valley and wanting to be environmentally responsible, we opted to use electronic invitations. We choose a white and gold foil design and really enjoyed the quick turnaround of RSVPs due to the electronic delivery method!

I wore an ivory Vera Wang trumpet gown made from silk, tulle, and various types of lace. Every girl should try on dresses at Vera Wang or something comparable. The experience and dress quality is astounding! I knew it was the dress as soon as I felt it against my skin and walked around, especially based on the delicate dress details and the way it moved. I actually became too overwhelmed in options while ring shopping and gave up on picking an engagement ring. Albert completely customized a ring based on the first ring that intrigued me; a round brilliant with a delicate cushion halo set in platinum and with a very thin diamond band. My wedding ring matches the setting, but in rose gold. Something about different metals is very appealing to me. Albert is highly allergic to most metals so he choose a titanium band.

I wore a hair pin that was gifted to me from my family as well as a waltz length veil. I purchased the veil from Etsy and have passed it along to a friend for her something borrowed for her wedding and will pass it down to my sister afterwards. I also wore a bracelet passed down from Albert’s aunt and earrings I purchased from Saks. For shoes, I choose nude Christian Louboutin Simple 100 pumps. I wore these nearly all day and night, changing into cream colored Attilio Giusti Leombruni ballet flats for our first dance routine. Ann Li of By Liann and her crew of two did the hair and makeup for my bridesmaids and I. Albert loves it when my hair is down and since it was a hot day, I choose to do a side swept look with loose curls. My makeup was natural and dewy, with a neutral lip. Albert wore a dark grey Ted Baker suit with brown Too Boot NY shoes. He doesn’t typically wear jewelry because he’s allergic, but he wore a bowtie from The Tie Bar. He just had a haircut recently; he was so well groomed and handsome! I couldn’t wait to tap him on the shoulder during our first look. The bridesmaid dresses were made by Jenny Yoo, the Scarlett dress. It’s a long flowy champagne colored dress with a somewhat metallic lace strapless top. The girls looked beautiful and ethereal, perfect for the romantic look I was going for.

My best male friend from high school was our officiant which was something I wanted since I was a teenager! My cousin’s company did our florals and our arbor was absolutely stunning as a backdrop. For our pre-ceremony songs, we choose Train – Marry Me, Jason Mraz – Love Someone, Marie Hines – Endless, Sara Bareilles – I Choose You, and the acoustic version of Sam Smith – Latch. We walked down the aisle to River Flows in You by Yiruma (cello/piano orchestral version by David Solis). Our first dance song was to Ed Sheeran – Tenerife Sea.

My cousins’s company, HFT International, sourced my florals from all over the U.S. and world. My main requests were astilbes, baby’s breath, and peonies, which was incorporated in with things like ferns, silver brunia, and herbs like rosemary. The florals were beautiful, especially the arbor! Evonne and Darren Wong of Evonne & Darren Photography photographed our wedding. We love their aesthetic and style and how they captured the wedding day, and we also had a video call with them and found them to be passionate, well organized, and very thoughtful in their craft. Coming from a Chinese family who appreciated lighter desserts that weren’t overly sweet, we decided to order a cake we designed from an Oakland Chinese bakery, Delicieuse Princesse Bakery. It was an ivory three tier sponge cake in a swirl design, with fresh strawberry, mango, and chocolate. The frosting was a light whipped cream.

Our friends love a great time, with music and dancing. Of course we had to have a DJ! DJ Julian Pierce provided music and entertainment for the day. Albert and I didn’t do traditional wedding favors as it’s difficult to give a gift that appeals to everyone, is practical, and easy to travel with. Instead, we booked Top Dog hot dog to serve a late-night snack. Food is the center of our universe so it was only fitting that we choose food.

Wedding planning wasn’t really stressful because I made it my mission to make everything as efficient, simple, and practical as possible. Everyone always says that wedding planning is tough and a lot of work, but they never mention just how much work has to be done post-wedding too. I knew I would be exhausted afterwards so I tried to make this as minimal as possible by thinking about the cleanup, the leftover supplies, and alcohol during the planning process. I also recommend sourcing decor and crafts from friends and family if possible. It gives everything a bit more meaning, especially to decorate your home with later. I also believe that minimizing the amount of crafting will save you a lot of time and effort. I ended up purchasing a lot from Etsy and don’t regret it one bit.

A Little Pop of Peony Takes this Barn to Another Level of Beauty

Bright coral peonies are always gorgeous but when set against the rustic backdrop of a glorious old barn, those blooms crafted by Papertini are on a whole new level of pretty. The juxtaposition of bright and rustic planned by Two Little Birds is half the equation and the other half? Super cute couple. See the whole happy celebration captured by Asya Photography with even more in the vault.

From Two Little Birds Planning… Even with impending showers in the forecast, Stephanie and Matt’s warm and fun loving personalities made the rain a distant memory at their May 7, 2016 wedding at Brandywine Manor House in Honey Brook, PA. The color palette of bright spring hues, including hot pink, blush, white, and Kelly green with pops of orange, yellow, and sparkle, were the perfect contrast to the stone and wood of the historic barn and lush greenery of the surrounding grounds.

The day began with the bride and bridesmaids laughing and sipping champagne in the bridal suite while getting their hair and makeup done by Nancy Caroline Bridal Styling. The bride’s natural look was juxtaposed with a smoky eye and bright fuchsia lip. Her hair was pinned back with a sweet halo braid and a few face framing curls.

Stephanie wore a breathtaking strapless Jim Hjelm ball gown with a sweetheart neckline and hand-sewn petal detailing, accented with a beaded crystal sash and Jimmy Choo silver glitter sandals. Her asymmetrical, garden-style bouquet popped with bright peonies, soft David Austen roses, spray roses, colorful ranunculus, sweet peas, and mixed greens. It was hand-tied with intricate lace from her mother’s wedding dress and accented with whimsical velour ribbon streamers. The bridesmaids wore BHLDN’s Coppelia Dress in dusty pink. The groom wore a navy tux and a black bowtie with a hint of shimmer.

Asya Photography was there to capture the beautiful moment of the couple’s intimate first look under the pergola, as well as many other incredible details of the day, including the beautiful gold mirror and frame Etsy signage and personalized wooden ring box. Maggpie Vintage Rentals’ lounge furniture doubled as photo backdrop for the couple and their wedding party before the ceremony.

The gazebo on the patio was beautifully draped with white fabric, and a garland of peonies, roses, ranunculus, tulips, and bright greenery, lending the perfect backdrop for the touching ceremony that was officiated by Rev. Chuck Blair. The aisle was lined with clusters of gold-accented white ceramic passage lanterns that were later used in the centerpieces. Papertini Floral and Event Design are known for organically and perfectly repurposing florals and décor from the ceremony into the reception. In addition to the repurposed lanterns, the bridesmaids’ bouquets were added to centerpieces and the garland was added to the cake table.

Guests were greeted with pre-ceremony beverages of lemonade and water on the patio as they waited for the ceremony to begin. A trio from EBE Rio played “Glasgow Love Theme” for the processional, followed by “I Choose You” by Sara Bareilles for the bride’s entrance. After they said “I Do,” Stephanie and Matt recessed to the fun and upbeat “You Make My Dreams Come True” by Hall & Oates.

Once the ceremony ended, cocktail hour began on the Hearth Patio, which is a beautiful open-air patio under the barn featuring a koi pond and views of the expansive property. Guests relaxed on the gorgeous ivory Charlotte Sofa and Pearson Tuft Chairs from Maggpie Vintage Rentals, and they enjoyed hors d’oeuvres by Sage Catering including bacon-wrapped scallops, wild mushroom tart, petite lamb chop, sugarcane chicken, and lump crab cakes. Since the couple has moved around a lot the last few years for work (Stephanie is a Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Fellow and Matt is a Business Consultant), they used their recent cities of residence as signature cocktail inspiration. The bar featured The Philadelphia (where they met), The Columbus (where they moved next), and The LA (where they live now). Before heading upstairs to the barn for the reception, guests stopped by the escort table to locate their seat and pick up their favor, a handmade mason jar candle and personalized matches.

The reception began with introductions and the couple’s first dance to “Bloom” by Paper Kites. Guests were seated at a mixture of long and round tables with blush linens and gold sequin runners. The tablescapes popped with large white ceramic vases filled with bright pink, orange, white, and yellow florals, white and metal lanterns, bud vases, and mercury votives. Mad Libs, a favorite pastime of the couple, were placed at each guest seat asking silly questions such as circling how many drinks they’ve had and if they traveled via car, plane, or boat.

The first course featured an arugula salad with Parmigiano and sliced granny smith apples tossed in a lemon and white balsamic vinaigrette. Then Stephanie’s two sisters and Matt’s best man gave entertaining and heartfelt speeches about the couple. Guests dined on filet mignon with gratin potatoes and asparagus and Chilean sea bass with Israeli couscous and roasted vegetables. Once dinner concluded, the dance floor opened with parent dances. Stephanie and her father shared a dance to “Just the Way You Are” by Billy Joel. Then Matt and his mother danced to “Make You Feel My Love” by Garth Brooks. Guests danced the night away under twinkling lights and ivy covered chandeliers to the sounds of EBE Rio. The evening ended with a 4-tier cake by Master’s Baker with alternating layers of lemon raspberry cake with raspberry filling and confetti cake with buttercream icing. The horizontal texture buttercream design was complemented with bright cascading florals and a laser cut “love” cake topper, a perfect and sweet ending to Stephanie and Matt’s romantic barn wedding.

This Couple Recreated Their Wedding Day 4 Years Later

Kristina and Parta married back in 2012 but didn’t end up with the photos of their dreams. Instead of the typical anniversary, they decided to re-create their wedding day, including their two children and close friends in the celebration. Paper Diamonds planned the prettiest wedding re-do you’ve ever seen and Nadia Hung captured the photographs they’ll treasure forever.

From Paper Diamonds… I’ve had the pleasure of knowing both Kristina and Parta for awhile now and they have the most beautiful children you will ever meet. They married atop the cliffs of Uluwatu in 2012 and sadly, didn’t get a chance to have a bridal shoot or receive images that they loved. I was thrilled when they allowed Nadia Hung and I re-create a special day, with her small family and her best friends.

The day started in the magical Ubud with Kristina and her bridesmaids. Kristina exudes a classy feminine energy and the gowns from Gwendolynne really matched with the statuesque beauties. We paired the gowns with local designer Ali Charisma and Tulola Jewellery as well and were thrilled to be able to incorporate some local and cultural aspects.

Jill from Jill Loves Lace, flew in from Taiwan to create the beautiful florals for all the bouquets and arrangements. We went from mountains to cliffs in one day and it really couldn’t reflect Bali and it’s beauty any better. There is nothing more Bali than the rich greens of Ubud and the golden sunsets when perched on a cliff.

Intimate Amalfi Coast Wedding with a Fireworks Finish

The simple beauty and intimacy of this day reminds me a bit of my own. Of course, I didn’t say I do on the stunning Amalfi Coast… but I fully embraced candlelight, loads of blooms, like these from Myrtle et Olive, and an unforgettable fireworks finish. Jemma Keech snapped it all up so perfectly with Marco Caputo Films, and you can find the rest in The Vault!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/204924385 600 338]

From Joy Proctor DesignJem & Brodie were married at the historic Duomo di Amalfi in the sweet seaside town of Amalfi, Italy. Joined by 40 of their closes friends from Australia, they celebrated with a four course Italian meal and reception at the Hotel Caruso in Ravello. After the reception the guests made their way to the terrace to watch fireworks.

From the Bride… The dream for our wedding was a small, intimate affair, focused on family, friends and food! We met seven years before we got engaged working as a cashier girl and fruit and vegetable boy. We knew if we married in our home town it would need to be a large wedding so a destination wedding was perfect. Where else than the spectacular Amafli Coast with it’s picturesque villages, coastal mountains and turquoise sea. We spent a sun drenched week with our nearest and dearest, eating pizza, drinking lemoncello, visiting Capri and enjoying la dolce vita. For the wedding, the styling was really important to me. We knew we would need a stellar wedding planner to coordinate all the details for us. Enter Joy Proctor. I found her on Instagram, she had styled a shoot at the Belmond Hotel Ravello and it was just exactly want I had wanted. So very quickly we had the venue and the planner picked! Joy was a dream. Her impeccable taste, attention to detail and network of vendors made every detail perfect. The stationary by Written Word Calligraphy and the florals by Heather from Myrtle et Olive were better than we could have dreamed. It rained on the day but Joy didn’t miss a beat, she was calming, positive and swiftly moved our outside wedding inside. Without Joy I would have been a stressed-out mess, l trusted her so much I handed over all the decision making to her, so I could focus on my friends and family and husband to be. She turned a room in the hotel to a candle and flower filled dining room. Our jaws dropped when we walked in!! Our guests feasted on four courses featuring the best produce from the Amalfitana Costiera. Brodie is catholic and we really wanted to be legally married on the day by the priest. It is much easier to have a symbolic ceremony and a legal one in Australia but we were really glad we went to the effort. We met the local English speaking priest Father a year before and luckily he agreed to marry us in the Duomo di Amalfi, a spectacular 9th century cathedral in Amalfi. Our photographer Jemma Keech is Australian based too but I desperately wanted her to shoot the wedding over selecting a local Italian vendor. I was concerned about language barriers when it came to explaining the look we wanted to capture. Add in a husband who hates his photo being taken and it was worth every cent. We had our engagement shoot with her and Jemma somehow made him feel comfortable, even making him laugh. She did so again on the wedding day, and every image is one to be cherished. All the guests loved her! My dress was also found on Instagram, and I flew to Adelaide to met Paul from Paolo Sebastian. From the moment I stepped into his chandelier-lit studio I knew I had found the dress. He was so wonderful and caring as was his divine team. The whole process was so fun! He even included a hand written note wishing us well which I read on the day. I felt like Cinderella. The wedding was a fairy tale and we were trilled so many of our friends & family came from all over Australia and Scotland for the day. Brodie’s best man went the extra mile, flying over for only 48 hours in between commitments. We will never forget the incredible party we had, the people, the food, beautiful Ravello and (finally) becoming husband and wife.

Elevate Your Wedding Bar Without Breaking the Bank

Gone are the days of basic bars, and that includes your wedding day. Craft cocktails are here to stay and their creativity is both delightful and delicious… but the price tag? Not so much. But just because you’re on a budget doesn’t mean these bold bevvies need to be ignored. Main Course Catering knows all the tips and tricks to elevate your wedding day bar without spending a fortune – and still create some pretty tasty beverages along the way.

#1: Make It Personal

Everyone has different tastes when it comes to alcohol, but remember, at your wedding, it’s all about you. Forget what Uncle Johnny likes to drink in his den at home and focus on what you enjoy most.

Signature cocktails can be a great way to cut the costs of your bar by eliminating a full bar and focusing in on a couple’s favorite drinks – and bring attention back to your big day. Focus on seasonal fruits and high quality spirits and mixers for these drinks to ensure the highest quality and best outcome and top off your favorite cocktail with a beautiful but simple garnish to elevate the drinks even more.

#2: Keep It Close To Home

Local spirits are growing in popularity as artisans have perfected the craft of brewing, fermenting, and distilling all around the country. As they grow, so does the demand for a good value. Choosing your bar options based on where you are tying the knot can make a lasting impression and give your wedding bar a unique twist. Here are some of our best regional recommendations: hard cider in the Northeast, wine in the West, moonshine in the Southeast, and craft beer in the Midwest.

#3: Make It Float!

Cocktails have evolved over the decades into a modern work of art, from layered drinks to intricate designs dropped into egg white foam. Creating beautiful works of art at your wedding bar can be difficult due to the high levels of demand and the rush to try to get everyone a drink quickly, but including simple garnishes, liquid floats, or even drops of aromatic oils can bring a cocktail to life.

#4: Age It To Perfection

The ultimate DIY concoction for your big day could be a perfectly balanced, barrel aged cocktail. Choose a recipe that you love, find the right sized oak barrel, and let time do the rest. This is a great way to show off your incredible mixology skills for your wedding and impress your guests with a bar centerpiece they will not forget. Be sure to have your ingredients ready to go and don’t forget about the mixers!

#5: Chef It Up!

Culinary Cocktails are the next hot trend in the bar scene. When choosing a cocktail list for your big day, consider what products are in season and can be utilized in your cocktails. Fresh herbs can add a bright twist to most drinks and fresh made shrubs and syrups can liven up classic cocktails and make them unique. When fresh rosemary is abundant in the summer, we love to use it in cocktails on a hot day!

#6: Go Light On The Hard Stuff

Thoughtfully created “Mocktails” and low ABV cocktails are a great alternative to a traditional full bar, it’s a creative way to save money on alcohol and lower alcohol beverages are easier to pair with food. For those who don’t drink, non-alcoholic beverages such as fruit spritzers and infused juices can make a lasting impression and act as a great welcoming sipper.

Cocktail Advice: Main Course Catering

Elegant Celebration Honoring The Bride’s Late Father

Located at a quaint and romantic culinary school venue in Sonoma, this couple’s love story was thoughtfully infused in all aspects of their perfect day. My favorite sentimental touch was the bride’s surprise dance honoring her late father to his favorite song, “Sittin’ On The Dock of the Bay.” With luscious neutral florals by Vo Floral Designs and a beyond elegant reception design, I couldn’t resist browsing the images of this gallery twice! Every detail of the exemplary day was captured by Onelove Photography.

From the bride… Henry and I are the couple that loves spending every moment with each other, we’ve been that way since day one. When we thought about how we wanted to our wedding to be, the first thing that came to mind was that we wanted it to embody everything we were as a couple. We wanted our guests to come in and have it feel intimate and romantic. We thought about every detail to make our guest feel like it was personal. We hated going to weddings where it was beautiful, but it didn’t tie to what the couple was all about. So when we first toured Ramekins, we knew it was the one. It felt so intimate, romantic and we loved that the ceremony and reception was all in one place. (Also, I’m sure it being a culinary school and having a sushi bar option was what also tipped us).

As we started planning, I wanted to incorporate as many personal things between Henry and I. On our first trip to Disneyland, we got silhouettes of ourselves and got them framed. When we were thinking about how we wanted to make our wedding invites personal, we thought why not make them of our own silhouettes. I designed them from scratch and got them printed at a local letterpress printer (something I always wanted). I even got a wax seal made with the same design, stamped and addressed every single invite. Our silhouettes were everywhere in the wedding; we had them on the programs, the menus, we even got wood carvings to be our guest book.

Another thing we had to incorporate was Post-its. When Henry and I first started dating at work, we would leave notes to each other every morning. That flowed into when we started dating, then when we lived together, and now as an engaged couple – they would always be a reminder that we were thinking of each other. We actually have an entire wall in our apartment in San Francisco, dedicated to our notes along the years. When it came to our wedding, we wanted to do something really special for our guests. So Henry and I personally wrote a post-it note to everyone that attended our wedding which also included a personalized wood name plate for there seat. It was our way of letting them into our lives and for them to know how important they were to us and this day.

As we were sitting down for dinner, I looked around and was in awe at how everything came together. After months of planning, the long tables with luscious florals and soft romantic candles throughout the space were finally a reality. We only had 94 guests and I knew everyone felt the love that night. I had dreamt of this day my entire life, and even though not everything went as planned, what made it perfect was I got to marry the man I now get to call my husband.

My best advice to a bride-to-be would be, stay true to who you and your future partner are. You spend months and months planning a day that is really catering to everyone else, but when you take that first dance nothing else matters. No one will remember the food, no one will remember the details, but you will and that really is all that matters. As much as it sounds clique, it’s your day. Big Tip – Spring for really good vendors for things that matter the most to you and DIY the rest. I spent a core of my budget on flowers, photography and of course the venue. You may spend more than what you wanted to, but you won’t regret it. Money is one thing, but not having to worry about anything is worth it.

The forecast was rain and like any normal bride, I was completely freaking out. It poured the entire morning and I knew I had to make the decision to bring the ceremony inside (something I had thought about but had no idea it would actually come to it). As it came time to make my decision I knew I wanted it outside, it was one of the reasons we chose the venue, so I took a leap of faith. Our ceremony started at 5pm and at 4:50p it started to sun shower, I panicked. But then before I knew it, I heard that their was a break in the rain and we had to move. I’ll never forget the moment the doors opened and I saw everyone. It was as if the clouds parted and we were married. (the overcast also made for AMAZING photos)

My father died at a very young age and I would have given the world for him to be there. A few days before the wedding I received a gift that was a necklace of my father’s signature. I knew it was perfect to wear on the day. My brother walked me down the aisle and it was one of the most special moments I’ve shared with him. Last but not least, I surprised my mom with the “father dance” to an acoustic version of my father’s favorite song – ‘Sittin on the dock of the bay’. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house – Including our own, I will never forget this moment and it was probably the most special moment of the day.

I knew I wanted to surprise Henry on our wedding day. He is an avid lover of Boba Milk tea, so it was only fitting to have it catered at our wedding. I kept it from Henry for months and when he saw the Boba Milk tea station with all his favorite flavors, the reaction on his face was priceless! Little did I know he also had a surprise up his sleeve. He had choreographed a groom’s dance the night before and executed it flawlessly. I was definitely shocked to say the least.

A High-Fashion Dress for a Parisian Real Wedding!

When you get married in Paris, you better bring your fashion A-game, and that’s exactly what this real bride did. She customized her Junko Yoshioka gown by creating a high-low hemline and adding a statement bow in the back. And the result? Well, scroll below and see the dress (and the entire day!) captured by French Grey Photography for yourself.

Colors

From the couple… Josh and I secretly got married legally in the US before the Paris wedding. We got married at the fountain in Central Park and our 10-year-old pug dog was the best man. We drank champagne at Tavern on the Green and everything about that day was so filled with love. We both agreed that if all that our wedding ever was, was that day we would have been perfectly happy!
I think the fact that we were already married made our Paris ceremony less stressful.

We stuck really true to ourselves as a couple. We never let anyone else persuade our selections as a lot of times the stress from weddings is trying to please everyone. We wanted to have some French flair with a little bit of our modern New Yorker style mixed in. For the most part, I really love neutrals so a lot of our selections were black and white with pops of color here and there.

French Grey Events designed the bouquet… Kasia is so talented!! I sent her ideas but she really brought the look to life. It was really important to me to have peonies in the mix and I wanted the flowers to match my shoes. The table pieces were created by A Girl and Roses in Paris. Again, I sent her photos and she interpreted them really well! I wanted small scattered votives and vessels of really clean white flowers including garden roses, hydrangeas, and daisies.

Brian with French Grey Photography was our photographer. He is the husband to our officiant Kasia. They were the perfect duo for Josh and I. Brian knew all the best places to go that felt special and not so touristy. We lived in Brooklyn at the time so it was also important to capture a little sense of that Urban and modern photography. I saw Brian’s work on several websites and had to have him for our big day!

My dress was from Bridal Garden in NYC and the designer is Junko Yoshioka. I customized the dress by creating a high-low hemline and creating a huge bow in the back. The fabric was embossed with flowers and a gorgeous cream ombré. The shoes were the best part of my look! I bought them before the dress and altered my dress to highlight my Christian Louboutin lilac suede 100 mm beauties! I am only 5’1″ so the sky is the limit for me and footwear.

Josh had a suit custom made in NYC at Trunk Club in the Plaza Hotel. It was important for him to feel like himself and not wear a tux. I went with him to all of his appointments because I am his built-in personal stylist. On the wedding day, we decided to do a first look and when I saw him standing there all done up, I couldn’t help but to hold back tears and felt so lucky he was going to be my husband.
