Veil Styles 101: Which Is Right For You?

Choosing a veil can be surprisingly difficult; mostly because you’ve probably never worn one before, so how do you know what you like? Don’t stress–we’ll break it down for you! When shopping for bridal accessories, the first question most brides ask is, “Do I need a veil?”. The short answer, no, you don’t need a veil, but do you want one? If you don’t want a veil, there are plenty of alternatives that will give you that “bride” feel, like headpieces and capes. If you’re on the fence at all, remember, your wedding day is the only day you will have an excuse to wear a veil–so we say go for it! Now, let’s talk options!

PHOTOGRAPHY | Jemma Keech

Blusher vs No Blusher

The first decision you’ll need to make is whether or not you want a blusher. A blusher is the layer of the veil that drapes over your face. Traditionally, it is worn over the face for the walk down the aisle and then the Father of the Bride (or whoever is walking with you) lifts the blusher and reveals your face for the first time during the ceremony. This look is perfect for formal weddings, especially if your ceremony is being held at a religious venue. If you’re all about the pomp and circumstance, go big–go blusher.

If your ceremony is fairly informal and a blusher seems a little over-the-top for you, there are plenty of veil options that don’t have blushers. You can also wear a veil with the blusher flipped back instead of draped over your face, creating a tiered look.

Styles

1. Traditional

Most veils are made from tulle (pronounced tool), a lightweight sheer net, that is gathered and sewn to a comb. Combs can be wide or narrow and the volume of the veil depends on how much tulle has been gathered into the comb. Some veils are simple and drape close to the head while others are full and voluminous. Traditional veils are the most versatile; they pair great with any gown whether it is minimalist or ornate.

PHOTOGRAPHER | Ether & Smith

2. Mantilla-style

Inspired by Spanish Mantillas, these are simple veils that are trimmed in delicate scalloped lace and fastened to a comb. They are traditionally worn over the shoulders as well. Mantilla-style veils add a romantic old-world feel. They pair great with lace gowns and vintage venues.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Mallory Dawn Photography

3. Embellished

Veils can be simple or they can be ornately embellished with lace, embroidery, silk petals, or beading. It just depends on how much of a statement you want to make. We recommend a simple veil if your gown is ornate and vice versa–the simpler the gown the more adventurous you can be with your veil.

4. Juliette Cap

A Juliette cap veil covers the crown of the head and is fastened on either side by small combs or pins. It is often decorated with lace or other appliqués on the cap. Juliette cap veils add a boho feel to a look and pair nicely with flowy lace and net gowns.

BRIDE | Kate Moss  VEIL | John Galliano

5. Birdcage

When you think birdcage veil, think old-Hollywood. These are the small, sexy veils that are made from a Russian net that is delicate and has larger holes than traditional tulle veils. They can be worn on top of the head or across the eyes for a dramatic touch.

Veil Length

Like gowns, veils come in a variety of lengths. Currently, most veils range from elbow-length to cathedral.

Things to Consider When Selecting Veil Length

Train Length- When choosing a veil length, consider the length of the train on your gown. If you have a long train, we recommend choosing a veil that is slightly longer–this adds dramatic effect as you walk down the aisle. If you have a train with ornate detail, consider a shorter veil so it doesn’t get covered up. The ideal veil compliments your gown, so choose the features that you want to highlight and make sure that your veil doesn’t hide them.

Size of Venue- Another thing to consider when choosing a length for your veil is your venue. If you’re getting married in a chapel, it’s easy–go with a Chapel-length veil. But not all venues make it that simple. In general, your veil should reflect the size of your venue. If you’re getting married in an intimate setting, your veil should be shorter than if you were getting married in a grand cathedral.

Popular Lengths

1. Elbow- Approximately 30” in length and hangs just around the elbow. This length is flirty making it perfect for a more casual ceremony and venue.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Sposto Photography

2. Fingertip- Approximately 40” in length and hangs near the fingertips. This is a subtle veil length that pairs well with a gown that has an ornately embellished train.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Alyssa Nikole Photography

3. Waltz- Approximately 54” in length and falls just above the floor (depending on your height). This veil length pairs well with a gown that has a modest train.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Feather & Twine

4. Chapel- Approximately 90” in length, this veil should be paired with a gown with a slightly shorter train. This length is perfect for formal yet intimate venues.

PHOTOGRAPHY | Julie Cate Photography

5. Cathedral- At approximately 120” in length, this veil is by far the most dramatic. It should be longer than the train on your gown and is perfect for grand, over-the-top, venues.

Dinner was served over a three-course meal made by the talented team from RSVP Catering. Later, they shared laughs over cutting their cream-filled cake, also made by RSVP Catering. Later, the couple popped open a bottle of champagne and listened to tearful toasts by their closest friends and family.

A Romantic Kiawah Island Wedding Beneath Grand Oaks and Lowcountry Skies

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]White, blue, green, teal[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Embracing the venue’s Lowcountry charm was a defining element of Currie and Max’s wedding, a romantic celebration steeped in natural beauty and elegance. Set beneath the sweeping branches of a grand oak tree draped in Spanish moss — a signature of Kiawah Island — the entire day unfolded outdoors, anchored by the surrounding landscape.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]College sweethearts Currie and Max were first introduced by a mutual friend who attempted to set them up on a date. But the momentum behind that plan quickly fizzled, and the two didn’t truly connect until a year later — on Halloween. Despite a flurry of mixed signals, that night ended with a kiss: Currie dressed as Voldemort, complete with full face paint, and Max as William Wallace. By Valentine’s Day, they were officially a couple, thanks to what Currie described as “the most amazing dorm room meal I’ve ever had,” cooked by Max. From the beginning, Max loved that Currie could talk to anyone about anything, while Currie was drawn to Max’s gentle spirit, sense of humor, and kindness. When it came time to propose, Currie had no suspicions. Under the guise of attending an alumni event, she spent the morning wandering their old campus. They shared lunch at the spot where they’d had their first date, picked out books for each other at Currie’s favorite bookstore, and visited the campus chapel. Eventually, they made their way to a beautiful stone arch, where Max stopped and handed Currie a piece of paper, asking her to read it. At the end of the heartfelt poem Max had written, he dropped to one knee. Through tears, Currie asked what time the alumni event started — only to learn there was no event at all. Instead, they joined their families at a nearby restaurant, where a room full of loved ones awaited. “Our engagement was certainly the best day of my life,” Currie reminisced.[/field]

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The ceremony florals were designed to evoke the feeling of an untamed garden, with blooms winding around the final rows of chairs as though guests were stepping into an untouched garden. The reception, styled as a beautiful, magical dinner party, featured varying shades of blues and greens, tones selected to mirror those found in Monet’s Water Lilies. Blending the formality of a classic ballroom with the organic beauty of the outdoors, the couple’s dance floor sparkled beneath crystal chandeliers, while twinkling lights above the dining tables lent the evening a fairy-tale glow.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]The couple’s wedding cake featured icing botanicals — reminiscent of ivy climbing up a wall — and sugar leaves and anemone flowers.[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Although Currie and Max come from different religious backgrounds, they intentionally crafted a deeply personal ceremony, featuring four literary readings, each delivered by someone meaningful to them. Music played a vital role throughout the day: a string ensemble accompanied the ceremony, family members performed heartfelt songs, and Currie’s brother played their grandfather’s bagpipes.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]That morning, while getting ready, Currie’s mother did her hair. “No one knows my hair like she does,” Currie shared. They spent a quiet moment together in front of the mirror — one Currie now treasures through captured photographs.[/field]

Before the ceremony, Currie was enveloped in a “women’s circle,” where candles were lit and each woman read a note, poem, quote, or passage for Currie to carry into her married life.

A Colorful Garden Party Wedding Under the Stars in the Heart of Houston

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Blush, Coral, Pink, Orange and Green[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

We never pictured having a formal black tie wedding and instead wanted the day to feel relaxed, joyful, and intimate, more like a dinner party than a traditional wedding. Our vision was colorful, personal, and full of warmth, and it came to life as the dreamiest garden party under the stars. With lush florals, twinkling lights, and the perfect splash of color, the entire day felt magical. You’d truly never guess we were right in the heart of Houston, Texas!

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]After a year of long distance, Cade completely surprised me by proposing on what I thought was just a birthday dinner for him. As we were being led to our table, I turned the corner and saw the most beautiful candlelit setup with rose petals everywhere. It felt like a scene straight out of a romantic movie. We shared our first moments as an engaged couple in that quiet, intimate space before I was surprised again with all of our closest friends and family waiting to celebrate with us in the next room. It was pure magic from start to finish![/field]

Going into wedding dress shopping, I knew I wanted something that truly felt like me, not like I was playing dress up. It wasn’t until I tried on the very last dress of the day, the Dandelion gown by Tara LaCour, that I had that “ah-ha” moment you always hear about. The whimsical A-line silhouette and eyelet fabric felt like it was made just for our colorful garden party wedding. It was playful, romantic, and so uniquely me.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]I let my bridesmaids choose their own dresses in a mix of corals, pinks, and oranges. It was really important to me that each of them felt like themselves on the wedding day, rather than sticking to something super uniform. They absolutely nailed it. The colors came together beautifully and added so much personality and joy to the overall look![/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

Cade and his groomsmen rented their suits from Generation Tux. I was a little hesitant at first since tan suits can sometimes give off a beach wedding vibe, but I trusted my vision. In the end, they complemented our wedding colors perfectly and looked amazing in the garden setting.

We decided to serve Tex-Mex and margaritas instead of a formal plated dinner to keep the atmosphere relaxed and casual. During cocktail hour, we had a queso and quesadilla bar, followed by fajitas for dinner. Our guests absolutely loved it!

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

One of my absolute favorite details of the day was the florals. From the moment we chose our venue, its natural beauty inspired us to let the flowers take center stage as the primary and only decor. We embraced a vibrant palette bursting with color that perfectly complemented the garden setting. The lush, abundant blooms truly brought the space to life and created an enchanting atmosphere that felt both elegant and effortlessly magical.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

I wanted the cake to be a true focal point in the garden because it was intentionally designed to mirror the eyelet detailing on my wedding dress. It was a stunning five-tier buttercream masterpiece in a classic wedding cake flavor that everyone loved. I already can’t wait to enjoy it again on our anniversary!

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]We danced the night away to all the classics along with plenty of early 2000s hits—our absolute favorite! The music kept the energy high and the dance floor full all night long.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

One of my favorite details was collaborating with my graphic designer on our paper goods and stationery. We included hand-drawn sketches of our dog, Maisy, our rings, our cake, and more. Each element felt so personal and uniquely us.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

We brought out our custom “Phelans Gone Wild” trucker hats during our reception, and they were so much fun. The hats added even more color once the sun went down and really kept the party vibe going. Looking back, I wish I had enough for every single guest to have one!

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

We held both our ceremony and reception in the same garden, so our vendors executed an incredible room flip during cocktail hour. I was absolutely blown away when I saw everything I had envisioned come to life!

A Jekyll Island Wedding Filled With Dusty Blues, Cane Chairs, and Romantic Garden Details

[section title=”The Planning”]

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Tyler and Travis met for the first time in Latin class and later traveled on a group trip abroad in Italy, which was a key moment in their relationship. They knew they wanted to honor that history together and incorporate it into their wedding design. The beautiful European-inspired architecture of Crane Cottage at the Jekyll Island Club Resort was eye-catching and became the perfect backdrop to host their destination wedding weekend. We leaned into the Italian style and incorporated a pattern on the reception bar and dance floor that was inspired by a Tuscan tile pattern.

A Parisian Wedding Weekend of Gilded Grandeur and Seine-Side Celebrations

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Our wedding color palette featured a romantic and elegant mix of gold, white, silver, and soft shades of pink and green. We wanted the overall aesthetic to feel timeless but fresh, with colors that would complement the Parisian setting and spring season.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

One of the things we always said during the planning process was that we wanted our wedding to feel like a full celebration spread over a few days. Choosing Paris as our location helped make that vision a reality. We kicked off the weekend with a welcome party on a boat along the Seine River, which gave guests the chance to see the city’s most iconic landmarks and watch the Eiffel Tower light up at night. It was the perfect way to begin the weekend. Our wedding venue, Hôtel Le Marois, is the epitome of Parisian elegance. The rooms feature ornate gilded moldings, painted ceilings, marble fireplaces, and sparkling chandeliers. The tall windows open onto terrace gardens and allow natural light to pour in. The space felt historic and timeless, and the grand staircase added the perfect dramatic touch to both the ceremony and photos. It felt special from the moment we walked in and was the perfect backdrop for everything we envisioned.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Tyler and I both attended Gettysburg College, though our time there only overlapped briefly. He was a year ahead of me, and we each spent time studying abroad. I was in Rome and Paris for a year, and he was in Florence for a semester. We may have crossed paths, but we didn’t actually meet until August 2017, when we connected through a dating app. In May 2019, we traveled to Paris and I mentioned that getting married there would be a dream. Tyler responded, “I would do that with you.” Fast forward to May 2024, and we ended up doing exactly that, celebrating our wedding in Paris with family and friends. Tyler proposed the day before we were set to leave for a trip to Portugal in April 2023. After work, we took our pug for a walk through Central Park, something we often do since we live on the Upper West Side. During the walk, he proposed and completely caught me off guard. He told me we had dinner plans afterward, and when we arrived, I found both of our immediate families waiting to celebrate. It was incredibly thoughtful of Tyler to organize everything in secret and make sure both of our families were part of such a special moment.

I wore a gown by Enaura that I found at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City. After trying on over 50 dresses across several appointments, I knew this was the one. It had the perfect blend of elegance, detail, and timeless romance that I was looking for. As soon as I put it on, I felt like a bride. We held our afterparty at L’Arc Nightclub, which brought such an energetic and unforgettable vibe to the end of the night. For my afterparty look, I wore a white open-back jumpsuit by Nadine Merabi. It was the perfect choice for dancing all night and celebrating with our closest friends and family.

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]

The dress code for our wedding was black tie, which helped set the tone for a formal and elegant evening. When it came to the bridesmaids’ dresses, I always knew I wanted them to choose their own gowns, in whatever style made them feel the most confident and comfortable. I shared a color palette and moodboard with a vision of floor-length satin dresses in gold and champagne tones. They delivered beautifully. I loved how everything came together in the end. It looked cohesive while still reflecting each bridesmaid’s individual style.

[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]

Tyler wore a custom white tuxedo jacket with classic black tuxedo pants from Enzo Custom, creating a look that felt both timeless and modern. The groomsmen wore all-black tuxedos, which provided the perfect contrast and made the overall look feel cohesive yet elevated.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres and our three signature drinks: Hers, His, and Leo’s, named after our pug. Mine was a Dirty Martini, Tyler’s was an Old Fashioned, and Leo’s was a Gimlet. Cocktail hour took place in the terrace gardens before guests moved inside for the remainder of the evening. Afterward, guests were invited upstairs to the salons. One was set up as the bar lounge, another as the dance floor, and the third for dinner. The layout allowed the night to flow naturally from one space to the next, while still feeling intimate and lively.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

We kept the florals simple and romantic, focusing on white garden roses, peonies, carnations, and delphiniums, with light pink roses and peonies for a soft touch of color. It was important to us that the design felt timeless and didn’t compete with the ornate beauty of the venue. Candles were placed throughout to add warmth and create an inviting, elegant atmosphere.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

We chose not to do a traditional cake cutting and instead served each guest a plated dessert after dinner. It felt more in line with the flow of the evening and allowed everyone to enjoy something sweet without interrupting the celebration.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

The ceremony was our favorite part of the wedding. We exchanged personal vows, my dad officiated, and our bridesmaids and groomsmen stood with us on the grand staircase. From there, we could look out at all of our closest family and friends. The lighting during the ceremony was beautiful, with natural light shining in through the windows. It felt personal and incredibly special.

[/field]

We chose to do our first look in the streets of Paris before the ceremony. It was important to us to share a quiet moment ahead of the day. We took photos near the venue and on Pont Alexandre III, one of the city’s most iconic bridges. The backdrop of the Seine, ornate lampposts, and classic Parisian architecture made it feel incredibly special and cinematic. On our way to the venue, we even stopped for an espresso at a café nearby. I was in my wedding dress and Tyler in his tux, and we happened to run into a few guests on their way to the ceremony. It was spontaneous, completely Parisian, and a little memory we’ll never forget.

A Classically Romantic Tuscan Wedding Adorned With Crystal and Candlelight at Tenuta Corbinaia

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]The wedding colors were white, ivory, gold, and greens from the flowers and plants. [/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

It was a sophisticated and elegant wedding, made precious by dazzling crystal decor and gleaming gold mirrored bars. Bride’s words: “I wanted the wedding theme to be very classy, romantic, and elegant. The wedding venue itself is so beautiful, so I knew that I didn’t need to add much aside from flowers, candles, and table decor because I wanted to embrace the natural beauty of the venue and the landscape of Tuscany itself. “

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Andrea told: “Nathaniel Rose planned a trip to Spain with the intent to propose during this trip, but disguised it as a normal vacation. I always tend to plan the trips so as not to raise any suspicion. He had me plan the trip like usual, but he made sure that on the second-to-last day, we went on a catamaran sunset sail and reserved a rooftop dinner afterwards overlooking Barcelona on a mountainside. Nate was holding onto the ring the entire trip in his satchel, and I had no idea. I should have suspected something since he never let his satchel leave his side- even when taking photos. He was waiting until the perfect moment to propose and ended up proposing to me while we were sailing on a 25-foot catamaran in the Balearic Sea in Barcelona at sunset. I had no idea that he was planning on proposing, so I was in disbelief. Despite my shock, the proposal could not have been more perfect. Afterwards, we went to dinner and he told me about his plan going into the trip, and we debriefed about everything, including how he was so terrified about losing the ring and dropping it on the boat.”

Andrea, the bride, had always envisioned wearing a princess-style A-line dress since she was little, so she knew well in advance what the style would be. Her wedding dress shopping journey began in New York City. She specified that she wanted a white, strapless, corset A-line dress with embellishments. Surprisingly, the very first dress she tried on ended up being her actual wedding dress. At the time, she liked the dress but didn’t entirely love it, so she kept trying on more dresses and then left for her next appointment in New Jersey. There, it felt like she tried on a million dresses until she finally found one she fell in love with. Only later, when looking through photos, did she realize it was the same dress she had first tried on earlier that day at the NYC boutique. Knowing that her wedding dress was the very first one she tried on felt special, almost like it was meant to be, as her husband was also her very first boyfriend. To make the dress even more “her,” Andrea decided to customize it with more embellishments on the train and a slit on the right side to make it sexier and more personal. In the end, Andrea loved her dress and the alterations she made, feeling like it was made just for her and no one else.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”][/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The groom (Nathe) and groomsmen all wore the brand Pronto Uomo. The couple wanted the men to look clean-cut and elegant, so they had them all wear black tuxedos with white dress shirts and black bow ties. The groom had a slightly different tuxedo, while the groomsmen wore the same style of tuxedo. The groom wore black and gold cufflinks, while the groomsmen wore black and silver cufflinks.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

Andrea was incredibly impressed with Valerio Ricevimenti’s catering. The cocktail hour featured an open bar, ensuring guests could freely enjoy drinks and an elegant spread of Italian hors d’oeuvres, including classic cheeses, cured meats, and bruschette. The couple’s signature drinks were the Aperol Spritz and Andrea’s favorite, the Hugo Spritz, which became a surprise hit with many guests. For the main meal, the focus was on authentic Italian cuisine, designed to be unforgettable. Guests savored tortelli with ricotta and spinach in béchamel sauce with datterini tomatoes, and paccheri with traditional beef ragout. The main course was a superb beef filet in Chianti wine sauce, accompanied by roasted potatoes and spinach. Andrea especially appreciated the attentive service, with servers offering extra portions, making sure everyone felt well-cared for. A special touch was the outdoor cigar, chocolate, and whiskey area, a delightful surprise for her husband and his friends.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The wedding ceremony was adorned with massive floral arrangements, exclusively in total white. Throughout the celebration, numerous elements featured elegant gold accents. These included the seating chart (tableau), the refined table settings (mise en place), the dazzling chandeliers, and striking mirrored gold counters. Even the stationery was meticulously designed; the menus, for instance, showcased the couple’s custom logo and were elegantly encased in a green band, sealed with gold wax.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]Regarding the wedding cake, the couple desired a design that was both elegant and natural, without being overly elaborate. They opted for a classic white tiered cake adorned with cascading flowers from the top. To enhance the ambiance for the cake-cutting, they arranged for sparklers to be in the background and embellished the cake table with flowers, making it exceptionally picturesque. They also really enjoyed the champagne tower, finding it a fun activity for them to do together. In fact, one of their favorite memories involves the champagne tower. The bride’s mother’s uncle, who is quite short, was the first guest to grab a glass of champagne. When he did, he took one from the bottom, and the tower completely collapsed! All anyone could hear was a loud crash as the glass broke. Everyone looked over at the bride’s mother’s uncle, and he started dancing, and everyone else began laughing and cheering. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Since the groom’s father is a pastor, the couple knew immediately that they wanted him to officiate the ceremony. They felt that having the groom’s father marry them made it feel more personal and very special, and they wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]From the bride: Some favorite moments included walking down the aisle with my father by my side, the groom seeing me walk down the aisle for the first time in my wedding dress, sitting with my husband at the reception table with our loved ones and taking everything in, cutting the cake with the sparklers in the background, popping the champagne bottles, pouring the champagne on the glass tower and my mother’s uncle dancing when it broke making it a very funny end of the night.[/field]

A Grand, Gold-Accented Celebration of Sculptural White Florals at The Fisher Center for Performing Arts

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]White, ivory, champagne and gold[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

“The overall aesthetic for Taylor and Mason’s wedding was elevated sophistication. We leaned into the beauty of the venue—with its grand architecture, sparkling marble floors, and serene blue walls accented with gold—and designed every detail to enhance that luxurious backdrop. To complement the space, we used an abundance of white florals in varying textures, layered with gold-accented tabletop and custom décor pieces. Everything was tied together with a custom, opulent crest we commissioned from You’re Invited featuring Taylor and Mason’s duo-gram and a sweet illustration of their fur baby, Bennie, who made a brief appearance for family photos. The crest was debossed into their invitations and menu cards and woven into subtle design accents throughout the wedding, adding a personal touch most thoughtfully.” – Sara Fried, owner, Fête Nashville Luxury Weddings

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]“Since we both work in real estate, Mason got creative with the proposal. He asked me to show a house to some ‘clients’—but when I arrived at the rooftop, it wasn’t clients waiting for me, it was Mason… and a photographer! I said ‘yes’ in that perfect moment, and then he completely surprised me with an engagement party at the Four Seasons, surrounded by all our closest friends and family.” – Taylor[/field]

“When Taylor walked out in her Galia Lahav wedding dress, it took our breath away. The silhouette was sculpted and elegant, and the lace detailing and beading were exquisite. She looked stunning—like a couture bride straight out of Paris. It felt romantic and modern all at once. It was the perfect dress for her.” – Sara Fried, owner, Fête Nashville Luxury Weddings. Taylor wore a structurally fitted corseted mermaid wedding gown with sheer cutouts and embroidered French lace and veil designed by Galia Lahav. “I was drawn to how timeless and elegant it felt. The moment I put it on, I felt like the best version of myself— it’s unique to me.” – Taylor, bride

[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]”Each bridesmaid carried a monochromatic bouquet of a single flower pulled from Taylor’s wedding flowers—some held peonies, others tulips, calla lilies, or roses—each wrapped in blush satin ribbon. The bridesmaids wore blush gowns by Dessy, each in a different silhouette to create a cohesive yet individual look that felt modern and feminine.” – Sara Fried, owner, Fête Nashville Luxury Weddings[/field]

Dinner was served with pre-selected entrees in a three-course style. Guests had the choice of beef tenderloin with a red wine demi-glace, pan-seared cobia, or burnt sugar crusted chicken for their entrées with roasted brussels sprouts and rosemary parmesan potatoes. Late-night snacks were passed on silver platters around the dance floor, including espresso martinis shots topped with warm chocolate chunk cookies, truffle butter mini grilled cheeses, and beef sliders.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

“The focal point of the reception was the custom-built head table we designed in partnership with Curated Events. We had it perfectly constructed to nestle between the grand columns at the center of the room, creating a stunning architectural moment. The U-shaped table featured designs from Cori Cook Florals with a lush floral runner of white blooms with soft touches of green, interwoven with glowing white taper candles and scattered votives for a warm, romantic glow. The florals spilled dramatically off both ends of the table, pooling onto the marble floor most luxuriously. It was breathtaking from every angle.” – Sara Fried, owner, Fête Nashville Luxury Weddings

A stunning 5-tiered cake covered in sugar flowers and white buttercream icing made by Dessert Designs in Nashville was the centerpiece of the evening. Flavors of traditional white wedding cake and almond amaretto with caramel filling were served to each guest.

“My grand-dad, Jerry Sexton, will be marrying us. It means a lot to me, and he has been a preacher for 25 years. I just made sense to have him do it. “ – Mason “I am walking down the aisle to “Canon in D” by Johann Pachelbel. That song has been my choice since day one. I liked that traditional feel; most brides walk down the aisle to it. “ – Taylor

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

“One of my favorite moments of the entire weekend was the first dance. After Taylor and Mason were introduced at the reception, Taylor’s dad surprised everyone by introducing one of their favorite bands, ‘Restless Road’, for a private performance. They sang their hit ‘Growing Old with You’ for Taylor and Mason’s first dance, and then followed it with an unreleased song, ‘And Then Some,’ for the father-daughter dance. It was emotional, personal, and one of those unforgettable moments that made the night truly magical.” – Sara, planner

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

“From the very beginning, Taylor dreamed of incorporating ballerinas into the wedding reception. Once we selected The Fisher Center at Belmont University—with its grand balconies and dramatic architecture—the vision came together beautifully. I had a portrait in mind: Taylor and Mason standing in the center of the dance floor, with ballerinas dancing gracefully behind them, captured at golden hour as sunlight streamed through the towering cathedral windows, scattering tiny rainbows across the marble floor. It was the photo I could see in my head months in advance, and it took a true village of dedicated creative perfectionists to bring that moment to life. Every detail had to be precisely timed and choreographed — thank goodness I have the best team of planners in the world. Michelle Beller captured it even better than I had imagined.” – Sara Fried, owner, Fête Nashville Luxury Weddings

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]“For the last dance, Taylor and Mason wanted to go out on a high—having flown in the Jordan Kahn Orchestra for the occasion, they were determined to stay on the dance floor as long as possible, so we planned an epic ending. As the band began playing Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story,’ the floor was packed, and my team had prepped the band to cue everyone into a loose horseshoe shape around the couple. That way, Michelle Beller could capture the perfect full-length shot. And because nothing is ever left to
chance, we even scheduled a site visit with Renowned Event Designs just to walk through the angles and placement of the confetti canons to ensure the perfect experience and photo. Right at 1 minute and 57 seconds—during the lyric ‘Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone…’—the canons exploded, and the entire room went wild. Guests swarmed the couple, singing their hearts out. It was pure magic. Must-have photo #2: mission accomplished.” ~ Sara

“Ballerinas. That was my one non-negotiable. That and my florals. Those were two things I
envisioned from the early stages, and I was not going to waiver very far from. “ – Taylor, bride[/field]

A Floral-Forward Tuscan Wedding in Classic White and Green at Tenuta Corbinaia

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

From the very beginning, the couple had no doubts about the color palette: white and green. They envisioned a romantic, ethereal, timeless atmosphere, almost like something out of a fairytale. They had previously seen a floral setup curated by their wedding planner, which served as the inspiration. From there, they personalized every detail: from flower choices to stationery and décor, adding their own meaningful touches to make the aesthetic truly theirs.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Every aspect of the design was thoughtfully curated by the couple and their wedding planner, Consuelo. Following an in-depth consultation, she brought their vision to life: a true Tuscan wedding immersed in nature, scents, and the warm colors of the countryside. From the ceremony onwards, everything took place against the backdrop of a breathtaking landscape surrounded by olive trees, vineyards, and iconic cypress-lined hills.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

The special story of the beautiful couple: it was our first anniversary as a couple, and he had planned a special evening to celebrate. He took me to our favorite restaurant in Rome, the one where we’d shared so many laughs, conversations, and memories. After dinner, he told me we were going to meet some friends at the Trevi Fountain. When we arrived, he turned to me and said he wanted to toss a coin into the fountain to make a wish, something we would do together. So we stood there, closed our eyes, and threw our coins into the water. Then we hugged, and in that beautiful, quiet moment, I thought that was it. But when we pulled away, he was suddenly down on one knee, holding out a ring and asking me to marry him. It was one of the most emotional, unforgettable moments of my life. The Trevi Fountain has always been one of my favorite places in Rome, but that night it became something even more meaningful. That same year, I had moved to Rome, and the city that was once mine had become our city.

The fabric, 100% silk, gave the dress a lightness and grace that captured the magic of the day. From the moment she walked down the aisle, the gown was a breathtaking highlight …a true masterpiece that made the bride feel radiant, confident, and utterly unforgettable. The bride added a special detail: a bow to wear at the back during the party.

To make the wedding day even more special, we decided to get the bridesmaids’ dresses in Brazil. The choice felt natural—not only because of our emotional connection to the country, but also because most of the bridesmaids were Brazilian. This made the organization much easier for them, allowing each one to choose and try on the dresses in person, according to her own taste, size, and style. Moreover, Brazilian fashion has that touch of elegance, vibrancy, and color we were looking for. We wanted something that would express personality, yet still feel harmonious and aligned with the wedding theme. The result? Stunning dresses, full of energy and meaning, beautifully blending tradition and love in a single look.

The couple chose a refined and elegant menu that blended land and sea flavors, crafted by expert Italian chefs of CATERING ROLAND’S. The meal began with delicate dishes such as risotto with shellfish bisque, crispy cod bites, and shrimp tartare. A second pasta course featured a bundled pasta purse tied with leek silk, filled with eggplant and burrata, served with a fresh tomato coulis. The main course was a standout: beef tenderloin with Brunello di Montalcino jus, served with hazelnut potatoes in a crispy basket, and a vibrant salad of arugula, pears, Parmigiano, and walnuts.

Floral Artistry & Curated Elegance Our florist, MAINARDI, played a pivotal role in bringing the wedding’s visual poetry to life, with a dedicated focus on floral elegance and artistry: Meticulous Selection & Sourcing The florist hand-selected each bloom, focusing on rare and sophisticated varieties such as ivory garden roses and lush white peonies. These were chosen not only for their beauty but for their timeless and luxurious character. Tailored Floral Design Every arrangement, the bridal bouquet, or the table centerpieces was thoughtfully designed to reflect the green-and-ivory theme. Elegant foliage like eucalyptus, Italian ruscus added depth and texture, creating a naturally refined aesthetic. Inspired Customization Drawing inspiration from the couple’s vision and the Tuscan setting, the florist incorporated subtle accents like olive leaves, preserving a connection to the surrounding olive groves and vineyards. The result was authentic and visually cohesive, grounded in the beauty of the locale. Attention to Floral Integrity. From sourcing to presentation, the florist ensured each bloom was perfectly hydrated and conditioned, with every stem carefully prepared on-site. The arrangements maintained peak freshness all day: from the first ceremony moments through the evening celebration. Seamless Integration with Décor Each floral design element was seamlessly integrated with the overall décor—coordinated with stationery, linens, lighting, and table settings—to create an immersive botanical experience that felt both elegant and personal. In summary, the florist’s work was a blend of expert curation, botanical craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of the couple’s aesthetic. They elevated the wedding decor with rare, elegant blooms and lush foliage, ensuring every detail resonated with sophistication and timeless beauty.

The first course featured a poached pear salad with candied pecans & maple dressing. Then guests chose between beef tenderloin, seared lamb sirloin, or seared salmon for their main course, and then finished with wedding cake and late-night chicken biscuits, and french fries.

Tables were dressed in beautiful lilac linens to create a romantic base for the florals and place settings. White china with a delicate gold trim, along with gold flatware at each place setting, with a moody, smoky wine glass for depth. Custom dinner menus at each seat featuring the same floral pattern used on the wedding stationery. The lush florals adorned each table in beautiful shades of blue and purple with touches of ivory and soft pinks. Intermixed were taper candles in shades of blue and purple to create a rich aesthetic. A statement floral and lighting installation over the dance floor created a stunning focal point as guests entered the space. A black and white checkered dance floor added to the timeless feel, while soft blue drapes hung behind the band as a backdrop.

The wedding cake was simple and elegant with a scraped design on each tier. The cake was kept simple, which allowed the florals on the table to pop and accent the setup.

The ceremony was officiated by the groom’s brother. This added such a sweet and personal touch to the ceremony and allowed for personal stories to be shared, full of laughter and tears of joy. The ceremony aisle was lined with lush floral meadow, creating the perfect accent for the wedding party to enter and exit. The arbor behind the couple was also adorned with beautiful florals and greenery.

The groom loves affogato, so this specialty dessert was served after dinner to all guests as a surprise. The ice cream and fresh espresso filled the space with the most delicious scent, which everyone enjoyed!

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The wedding stationery was a fully custom suite featuring nods to the couple’s time at the University of Chapel Hill. With the rehearsal & welcome party at the Inn at Chapel Hill, the inserts were a die cut of the Old Well, a longtime UNC campus landmark, home to the University’s oldest traditions, First Sip, where students brave long lines on the first day of school to drink the well’s water for good luck and a perfect GPA. This was the perfect whimsical addition to the suite as a preview for what was to come. The groom also has a fondness for small woodland animals, so we were able to find ways to incorporate these into the stationery. In the suite, you’ll find a deer, a hedgehog, butterflies, and even the infamous Belite Cow from Fearrington Farms.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

The floral and lighting installation over the dancefloor was a statement piece that was enjoyed by all. Specialty-sourced lighting was used that had beautiful lotus pendants intermixed with crystal orbs to create a beautiful glow over the dance floor. We also included pin spots throughout the space to highlight the tablescapes and create a more intimate feel during dinner. The lighting was accentuated with a full greenery build-out and the most beautiful florals in shades of blue, purple, and blush.

A Timeless Tuscan Celebration of Intimacy and Classic Elegance at Villa Il Poggiale

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]Olive green, sage green, ivory, white and touches of gold[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

Taylor and Graham’s vision was clear from the very beginning: they dreamed of a timeless and classic wedding that could honor the charm and beauty of Tuscany. Thanks to the impeccable vision and meticulous work of Olivia and her team, Villa Il Poggiale transformed into the ultimate canvas for this celebration—its refined architecture and breathtaking views of the rolling Tuscan countryside seamlessly shaping and elevating the entire aesthetic, creating an unforgettable backdrop that perfectly captured the essence of timeless elegance. The celebration, an intimate gathering of just 50 guests, was carefully curated to evoke a warm, personal atmosphere—where every detail was thoughtfully designed to make each attendee feel truly welcome and cherished. The ceremony unfolded with a runway-inspired seating arrangement, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in every heartfelt moment. Breaking with tradition, Taylor and Graham chose to have their bridal party seated among the guests, ensuring the spotlight remained solely on the couple. The bridesmaids and groomsmen made their entrances individually, adding a subtle yet impactful touch of modern elegance. The reception carried this effortless sophistication forward: a single long table beneath grand chandeliers, bathed in the soft, flickering glow of candlelight, setting a warm and romantic scene. The intimate and authentic atmosphere was a true reflection of the bride and groom’s style, making every guest feel like an essential part of their love story. After all, isn’t that what every wedding should be?

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Taylor and Graham’s story began most unexpectedly: they met at a bar, dancing the night away in a town neither of them lived in. There was an instant spark between them, so strong that the very next day Graham invited Taylor to dinner. Their connection grew so naturally that, just one month later, Graham asked Taylor to be his girlfriend, and within a few months, they moved in together, just two blocks away from the bar where their paths had first crossed. When it came time to propose, Graham wanted to make it as meaningful as their love story. He planned an entire day in Hoboken, New Jersey, revisiting each place that held a special memory for them, letting those moments guide the day. It ended at an intimate lookout with a breathtaking view of New York City, where Graham got down on one knee and asked the question they had both been waiting for. Taylor, of course, said yes! But there was still one last surprise: back at the bar where they first met, all their closest friends were gathered for a surprise party. A heartfelt and beautiful proposal, rich with memories, that felt perfectly right for them.

The food was a celebration of Italian flavors. The evening kicks off with a chic cocktail hour featuring iconic Aperol Spritz and sparkling Italian Prosecco, followed by a timeless seated dinner. There was a three-course menu starting with a delicate prawn tartare, followed by a “pici” pasta dish (handmade thick kind of spaghetti), and then an oven-baked veal. Each dish was flawlessly paired with Tuscan wines, elegantly arranged along the table for guests to sip and savor throughout the evening.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

Taylor and Graham chose a minimal yet elegant floral style that felt perfectly in harmony with the Tuscan landscape. The ceremony had a runway-style seating arrangement, so that guests could fully experience every emotional moment. The ceremony embraced a less-is-more allure: two sculptural floral columns standing at the aisle’s end, and a delicate trail of rose petals leading the way, setting a scene of effortless romance. At the reception, the floral palette remained cohesive, embracing subtle, natural tones that blended with the surroundings of the villa. In a nod to sustainability, the ceremony’s floral columns were elegantly repurposed to frame the head table and the newlyweds, weaving a refined sense of continuity from ceremony to dinner. A single long table shimmered beneath sparkling chandeliers, while countless candles cast a warm, intimate glow, beautifully enhancing the floral palette that dressed the scene.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Skipping the classic wedding cake, the couple served up a playful duo of cannoli and tiramisu, much to the guests’ delight. And, in true Italian style, midnight brought a surprise of pizza bites — the ultimate late-night indulgence before the party carried on into the early hours.

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

The day before the wedding, the couple kicked off the weekend with an all-white welcome party featuring a relaxed barbecue, setting the perfect tone for the celebrations ahead. After the big day, they kept the good vibes flowing with a laid-back pool party, giving everyone a chance to unwind and soak up the sunshine.

A Soulful, Minimal Celebration Honoring the Natural Beauty of Kimolos, Greece

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

The color palette was grounded in the island itself: white for the traditional Cycladic architecture and the clean, simple beauty of the Kimolian buildings, green for the wild herbs, fig trees, and olive branches that grow naturally across the landscape, and yellow for the warm Aegean sun. These colors felt honest and connected to the island, nothing added, nothing taken away. Those colors also complemented perfectly our event locations.

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

FROM WEDDING PLANNER ANIRAM EVENTS: When we began planning the wedding in Kimolos, we knew from the very beginning that we didn’t want to take away from the island’s natural beauty; we wanted to honor it. The quiet charm, the whitewashed houses, the soft light, and the raw, unspoiled landscape became the heart of our inspiration. Rather than impose anything too elaborate, we embraced the island’s simplicity and authenticity. Every element was chosen to reflect the spirit of Kimolos: elegant, minimal, and full of soul.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

From our beautiful bride, Almila: ‘We got engaged in Kimolos, under the glow of the Strawberry Full Moon. We were staying in a traditional fisherman’s cave right by the sea, simple, peaceful, and perfect for us. After dinner at our favorite little taverna, my husband suggested we relax on our terrace, listening to the waves. As we sat there, he started speaking about our future: his hopes, dreams, and the life he envisioned for us. Then, in that quiet, magical moment, he took out the ring, went down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. With the moonlight reflecting off the sea and just the two of us there, it was intimate, honest, and more beautiful than anything I could have imagined.’

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]

From our beautiful bride Almila: ‘I knew I wanted my wedding gown to come from Barcelona, where I’ve been living for the past ten years, and which feels like home. I chose a dress from Cortana, a brand I’ve always loved not just for bridal, but for their timeless, effortless designs in general. It felt important to choose a gown from a place I already connected with, rather than a traditional bridal store. The style was simple yet elegant, made from natural fabrics with Cortana’s signature fluid line, perfect for the relaxed, seaside atmosphere of the Greek islands. It felt light, graceful, and completely in tune with the setting.’

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

FROM WEDDING PLANNER, ANIRAM EVENTS: For the food and drinks, it was important to us to support and showcase the island, so we chose to work exclusively with local providers. The main event took place at Meltemi, a beautiful restaurant with a stunning view over Kimolos, the perfect setting to enjoy this celebration. We fully embraced the local cuisine, with a focus on traditional meat dishes, prepared with care and authenticity. Every plate reflected the flavors of the island. The drinks were also local from the town bar called Agora.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

FROM WEDDING PLANNER, ANIRAM EVENTS: For the florals and décor, we collaborated once again with our hardworking and talented team from *First Day* in Faliro. After organizing another wedding in Kimolos last year, we had a deeper understanding of the island’s atmosphere and were able to curate pieces with thoughtful details that blended seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The floral arrangements reflected our color palette of white, green, and yellow, enhancing the space without overpowering it, and bringing a soft, fresh energy to the entire celebration. For the décor, we partnered with MELI Rentals, who offer a wide variety of event pieces, from luxury and traditional tabletop items to furnishings and unique decorative details. Their curated collections helped us create a setup that felt both elevated and in tune with the relaxed charm of Kimolos. We also added our own personal touches, including candles we own, which added warmth and intimacy to the space. The menus, table numbers, and printed materials were beautifully designed by a friend of the couple, making the whole setting feel even more personal and meaningful.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]No wedding cake[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

From our beautiful bride, Almila: We wanted our ceremony to feel familiar, personal, and warm, more like a gathering of friends than a formal event. One of our close friends officiated the ceremony, which made it feel even more intimate. Two of our best friends gave speeches, and we also shared a few words ourselves, making it a very personal moment. The ceremony took place in a small, picturesque plaza on the island, surrounded by whitewashed houses and that soft island light. Afterward, following a typical Greek island tradition, we all walked together to the venue through the narrow sokakia (the little streets), accompanied by a live Greek band. It felt like a moving celebration through the village, with music and joy leading the way. For our first dance, we chose a song by Justice, our favorite band. We had seen them live together the year before, so it felt like the perfect choice, something personal that reflected both our story and energy as a couple.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]

My personal favourite detail was the location itself. From the first days gathering in the central piazza to the second day of the official wedding, Kimolos island itself set the vibe for a very relaxed island wedding. Through my experience, as a destination wedding photographer who travels a lot in the Greek islands, in the mid of June the Greek islands are normally full of people and loud vibes. Kimolos Island was very different. It is calm and beautiful and that’s why this was my very first special detail. From the crystal blue beaches to the perfect island vibe, Kimolos is your must-go-to.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″][/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]FROM WEDDING PLANNER, ANIRAM EVENTS:

One of our favorite and most special details was the presence of a Greek band, two wonderful musicians who brought so much heart and energy to the celebration. They played traditional Greek music that truly elevated the atmosphere, creating a lively vibe that pulled everyone -Greeks and non-Greeks to the dance floor. Their music connected everyone![/field]

A Nancy Meyers Inspired Wedding of Effortless Refinement

Moss green and shades of white and cream

[/field]
[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

The design of the day was classic with a modern twist, inspired by the timeless elegance of a Nancy Meyers film. We embraced a palette of moss green, soft whites, and creamy neutrals to create a look that felt both grounded and graceful. I wanted our wedding to feel warm and welcoming, with a strong sense of hospitality—like inviting our guests into a beautifully curated home. From the moment they arrived, I hoped everyone felt cared for and celebrated. Planning locally allowed me to be involved in every detail, from seeing the venue in every season to picking up paper goods in person. My mom has an incredible gift for design and helped bring the vision to life in a way that felt effortlessly refined and deeply personal.

[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Josh proposed on May 17, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina, in a plan filled with intention, family, and sentimental detail. He first asked Margaret’s mom for her blessing during a car ride back from Winston-Salem. She had a treasured family diamond Margaret had always admired, and Josh had it reset at Bisnar’s, the oldest jewelry store in North Carolin, where Margaret grew up going. He wanted the proposal to feel like a normal date night to keep the surprise. Josh picked out a cocktail dress for Margaret and wore a sports coat. They arrived at Freedom Park, and as they turned a corner onto a bridge, Margaret saw rose petals and knew—“this is for me.”

Margaret wore a timeless off-the-shoulder A-line gown in luminous ivory satin, a perfect reflection of her classic-meets-modern wedding vision. The structured bodice featured a soft sweetheart neckline with elegant draping, while the full skirt created a romantic silhouette that felt both regal and effortless. A long, sheer veil added a touch of tradition as it trailed behind her, completing the look with subtle drama. Her look was a study in timeless bridal elegance—refined, confident, and beautifully her.

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]The groom and groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos, in keeping with the event’s black-tie elegance. Crisp white shirts, black bow ties, and satin lapels gave their look a timeless, formal feel that perfectly complemented the sophisticated setting. The groom distinguished himself with a slightly more structured jacket, and all the men struck a balance between traditional and sleek—ideal for the classic-with-a-modern-twist vision of the day.

Food and drink were a central part of the celebration, carefully curated to feel abundant, elegant, and deeply personal. Cocktail hour began with a playful and visually stunning presentation: a wall of burrata served three different ways to welcome guests, alongside passed appetizers like beef tenderloin biscuits and chicken bites with a trio of dipping sauces—an intentional nod to the bride’s love of all things sauce. The reception featured stations, allowing guests to explore and indulge at their own pace. Highlights included a seafood tower, grazing station, pasta station, and a made-to-order crêpe station, offering something for every palate and adding a fun, interactive element to the evening.

[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The floral design and decor were a seamless extension of the wedding’s “classic with a modern twist” aesthetic. A soft palette of moss green, ivory, and cream created an atmosphere of effortless elegance, grounded in natural beauty. The arrangements were lush yet tailored—likely featuring seasonal blooms in layered whites and greens, accented by subtle textures that gave a nod to the bride’s Nancy Meyers inspiration. Margaret’s mother, known for her intuitive design eye, led the visual planning, ensuring every detail, along with Matt Starnes, the lead planner—from the ceremony florals to the table settings—felt timeless, welcoming, and uniquely personal. The overall ambiance was that of a refined garden party with a Southern soul.

[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

For dessert, the couple chose a three-tier vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream from Celestial Cakery—simple, classic, and utterly delicious.

[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

The ceremony was deeply personal and reverent, held at the same church where the bride’s parents were married 41 years earlier. Officiated by the bride’s longtime priest and dear friend, Rev. Karla Woggan, the service was rooted in tradition and family. The couple chose to say traditional vows, a beautiful nod to legacy and commitment, and one of the most moving moments came as they served communion to each of their guests—a sacred and intimate act of hospitality. Margaret walked down the aisle to All Creatures of Our God and King, a joyful hymn that filled the space with warmth and reverence. At the reception, held just down the road at The White Home, the celebration continued with an unforgettable first dance to You Are the Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne. The couple had taken dance lessons together in the months leading up to the big day, and described it as one of their favorite parts of wedding planning—an experience that turned into a memory all its own.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Instead of a traditional bridal party, the couple chose to be surrounded solely by family. The bride’s brothers, sister-in-law, and sister-in-love stood by her side, while the groom’s brothers and children, Natalie and Carson, stood by his. It was a heartfelt decision that reflected their desire to honor the people who have walked closest with them through life.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Margaret shared that as a plus-size bride, she was intentional about hiring a vendor team that would celebrate her, not just serve her. She didn’t often see brides with her body type represented in wedding media and made it a priority to work with photographers and creatives who would make her feel seen, beautiful, and confident—an empowering and important part of her story.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

The rehearsal dinner was held at Hoppin’, a self-serve bar in Rock Hill, where guests could pour their own drinks—setting the tone for a relaxed and festive kickoff to the weekend. The groom’s love of gardening inspired the decor and dessert, with floral touches and playful nods to veggies and gardening woven throughout the celebration.

9 of the Most Romantic, Low Key Ways to Propose Ever

When I was dating my now husband, the most romantic proposal I’d ever seen was one without any pomp or circumstance. It was from the movie Stepmom (I realize I’m dating myself here) and Ed Harris crawls into bed with Julie Roberts and gifts her a ring box with a spool of thread inside. Having been married before, he tells her – while tying the thread to her finger – that he allowed the thread of love to break once, then slides the ring onto the string where it beautifully falls onto her finger, promising her it will never break again. I die. It was warm and intimate and relaxed and easy. And that to me is romance. Alongside with a STUNNING proposal shoot by Hannah Alyssa – with florals by Branch Design Studio, design by WED and paper by Dear Jane Designs – here are 9 of the most romantic, so low key ways to propose ever.

Take her to one of the most romantic cities in the country.

Our picks? Charleston all the way for the number one spot. “From the cities’ cobblestone streets to their hidden alleyways, from their cozy cafés to their sophisticated style…Charleston is perfection.” –Photographer, Hannah Alyssa

Followed in random order by Aspen, Savannah, San Francisco, Honolulu, New Orleans, and Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Write a love letter.

There are few things as special in this technology filled world as a simple, handwritten letter. In it, tell him/her about WHY you love them. When you fell in love. Where you hope to see your love go. Really think about those moments that made your story all come together.

Take her/him to the city, and the street, where you met.

I will never forget walking around the streets of San Francisco with my husband after he proposed, getting a coffee at our favorite coffee bar, having dinner where we had our first date, just wandering around and seeing the beautiful homes that outlined the place where we spent those early days in our relationship. So so romantic.

Plan a luxurious dinner set for 2.

Flowers, candles, a beautiful backdrop and a wonderful meal. The recipe for the absolute most perfect proposal. Even if it’s takeout from your favorite restaurant in your own backyard, setting the ambiance in a way that feels special is what will turn a regular dinner into a proposal worthy dinner.

Or rent out the whole place.

While this may not be very budget friendly, there are pretty incredible bed and breakfasts, small restaurants and even homes in most cities around the world where you can rent out the space and bring in a small team to help you build the dinner and proposal of your dreams.

Write a fictional story based on the two of you…and as she reads the end, get down on one knee.

It may sound cheesy but writing down “your story” is something that you will treasure for years and years. Something that you will share with your children, that you will read to your grandchildren. Something that you can visit each anniversary as a tradition that will make you remember why you fell in love, how you fell in love.

Drive around to all of your favorite places and propose at the very last one.

It’s a far neglected past time…going for a drive. Visiting the places most meaningful, watching the sunset, “parking” with a kiss and a great song. While visiting Carmel-by-the-Sea my husband and I parked the car, cranked up the heat, rolled down the windows and turned up the music. It was overwhelmingly romantic and frankly, he should have proposed all over again.

Hire a photographer to do a couple shoot … though have her really shoot the proposal.

There are very few times in your life where you have a photographer come follow you around. And while bringing up a “couples shoot” might clue her in, it’s still a wonderful way to get this once in a lifetime moment on camera AND will give you both an excuse to dress up.

Gift her a keepsake box filled with memories…and a ring.

From pressed flowers to ticket stubs, birthday cards to emails printed. From souvenirs to receipts, photos to train tickets. Fill the box with the mementos that tell your story and deep inside, tuck a beautiful ring.

“At the end of the day, we really wanted our wedding to be a chain of thoughtfully curated, design-forward events that felt like us in an experience,” Lucy says. “That meant bright colors, lots of texture, food we loved, amazing drinks, and overall, an upbeat and exciting atmosphere.” From hanging floral baskets to guacamole carts and a candy-themed seating chart, the weekend skipped the expected and leaned into fun. Every moment was planned with their personalities front and center—bold, a little cheeky, and never too serious.

Menu “We love Mexican food and wanted to serve an a la carte family style for guests to choose their own adventure,” says Lucy. “We started with an amazing aguachile, for a crisp and refreshing first course! We then served an avocado salad (more avocados, hehe), followed by grilled totoaba fish and birria-style beef with tortillas and all the fixings. It was the perfect intersection of upscale but approachable and casual. We are not serious people, and we wanted our dinner to mirror that!!” Signature Cocktails Lucy: a spicy guava margarita Tim: a Mexican old-fashioned.d Welcome party drinks included coconut margaritas and hibiscus mezcalitas.

An Opulent Roman Wedding Celebration at Villa Aurelia

[section title=”The Planning”]
[field title=”Wedding Colors”]

Nadia and Luca got married in the elegant and eternal city of Rome, which was the first place they travelled to together while dating. They chose to get married at the iconic 17th-century old, Villa Aurelia. Antonangeli Design Group (ADG) designed the wedding to reflect a modern Italian garden. The colours of the wedding were ivory and sage green with gold accents and wood elements. ADG wanted to create a setting that was elegant and timeless while complementing the natural charm of the Villa.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]

This wedding features Italo-Canadian fashion influencer Nadia Antonangeli of 3 Girls and Our Closet. The couple hosted an opulent celebration at the iconic Villa Aurelia in Rome. Nadia wore a magnificent Oscar de la Renta gown, as well as a custom creation by renowned Canadian designer Lucian Matis. She showcased several fabulous looks during her welcome party and while getting ready. The ceremony took place at the iconic Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere, followed by a lively reception with 150 of their closest friends and family at Villa Aurelia. The venue was styled with exquisite floral arrangements by Rome-based designer Andrea Patrizi, adding to the event’s elegance and charm.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Nadia and Luca met on their very first day of school in the summer of 2014 at the University of Toronto! They were in the same program and quickly became inseparable. They dated for 9 years, and in the fall of 2023, Luca planned a surprise trip to New York City, where he proposed to Nadia in an intimate setting with just the two of them present. After the proposal, Luca took Nadia to an elegant dinner and a jazz bar where they soaked in the night as a newly engaged couple. They spent the rest of the weekend exploring the city with romantic walks around Central Park, shopping dates, and museum visits! Once they got back to Toronto, Luca organized a lunch with their immediate families where they dined, laughed, and enjoyed each other’s company!

After the ceremony at Basilica di Santa Maria in Trastevere, guests congregated in the piazza and were given fresh paninis and beverages, a little spuntino (Italian snack) for all to enjoy. Later, once guests arrived at the Villa, they were escorted into the cocktail space with a glass of prosecco. Upon entering the cocktail space, guests were met with an array of food choices in artfully displayed stations in the villa’s gardens. The stations included a show cooking of mozzarella by a local cheesemaker, a carving station of Italian cured meats, a tomato station, a tartare cart, and a vast selection of fish, bread, and cheeses. In addition to the stations, servers roamed the gardens with bite-sized hors d’oeuvres displayed on antique trays. Guests kept refreshed with infused water, more prosecco, wine, cocktails from the open bar, and the bride and groom’s favourite drinks, an Aperol spritz and a Campari soda. Once the cocktail hour was done, guests were guided to the lemon garden for the plated meal. The meal started off with a burrata cream pudding followed by a traditional Roman pasta dish called amatriciana, and ended with the guest’s choice of fish, beef, or a vegetarian option. During dinner, guests’ glasses were never empty with local Italian wine, and the energy was always vibrant. Nadia and Luca kicked off dessert time with a live making of a millefeuille cake overlooking a breathtaking view of Rome. In addition to the cake, which guests still talk about to this day, there was a live cannoli cart, a live tiramisu cart, a coffee and tea station, and an array of assorted cakes and local Italian sweets for guests to enjoy. The food didn’t end there, and later on, while guests were dancing and enjoying the music by the live band, servers circulated with sweet and savoryfoodd including wood oven pizza, cacio & pepe pasta, gourmet burgers, and fried donuts. It is safe to say that guests at the wedding did not leave hungry! The team from Enoteca La Torre provided the food for the wedding and white glove service that was unmatched.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The florals for Nadia and Luca’s wedding were done by the talented floral designer Andrea Patrizi, based in Rome. As one of the lead event planners of ADG, Nadia knew she wanted the florals of her wedding to speak for themselves and be lush, full, and organic. All florals were white with hints of greenery throughout, which was the perfect blend for the gardens that surrounded the cocktail space and dining area. The romantic and elegant ambiance during dinner was achieved with hanging chandeliers over the guest tables, candles on the table tops and surrounding lemon trees, and the live musical trio that circulated the area. The guest experience was very important to Nadia and Luca, and the stationery they chose for their wedding elevated this experience. At the church, guests were given custom fans that had a thank-you message for all who traveled to be with them on their special day. Outside of the church, guests were given custom cones with Nadia and Luca’s wedding logo for a petal toss in the piazza. At the reception, Nadia and Luca chose an interactive seating chart that had custom card boxes displayed on a shelf with Italian playing cards inside for each guest. The card box was sage green with gold foil detail, had each guest’s name and table number on it, and incorporated the four Italian suits! Guests loved thiskeepsakee which was a perfect memento of the time they had in Italy! They also had linen stationery, including cocktail napkins and serving towels for the wine servers, which incorporated their logo in gold stitching. Every detail was carefully thought out and reflected the elegance of the day. Tabletop Rentals: G&G Party Service Napkins: Tablecloth Rental Custom linens: MiaRose & Frank

ADG: ADG consists of 3 sisters from Toronto, Canada, with roots in Italy. ADG runs a fashion account called 3girlsandourcloset and the wedding planning company called Antonangeli Design Group. Nadia, the bride, is the youngest of the 3 sisters! This was the first destination wedding that ADG planned, and they are looking forward to many more to come! Fashion: Nadia wore the iconic 3dlaser-cutt rose petal Oscar de la Renta gown for her Roman wedding. The gown was the perfect match for the elegant and eternal city. Throughout the day, Nadia wore 2 different pairs of heels from her favorite Italian designer, Aquazurra. Luca wore a custom tuxedo and Salvatore Ferragamo shoes. Nadia and Luca chose Aqua Di Parma as their wedding scent, the symbol of Italian luxury.

[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Music: During the ceremony, Nadia and Luca had a violinist, harpist, and organ player playing the music, which enhanced the beauty of the already spectacular setting of the church. At cocktail hour, a duo set the tone for the rest of the evening, singing upbeat and classic songs while guests enjoyed their food and mingled around the bar. During dinner, members from the live band roamed around the guest tables and later played with the rest of the band in Sala Aurelia, which is where the party took place! While Nadia and Luca had live musicians throughout their special day, their first dance was a recorded song that they loved from their first year of being together, Yellow by Coldplay, specifically the live piano version at MTV. In fact, Nadia and Luca spoke about this being their first dance song early on in their dating years.

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

Photography: The moment Nadia got engaged, she knew she wanted Mike and the rest of the team at 515 Photo Co. to capture her wedding, regardless of where it would be! She was beyond excited when the team was available for her date in Rome. Nadia and Luca had so much fun working with the team for their welcome event and day of the wedding, traveling through Rome and stopping to take pictures in iconic locations along the way. The Superr 8 video that 515 filmed is one of their favorite things to look back on, as it blends the old-world charm of Rome with the classic elegance of their wedding day.
