Say “I Do” Under the Tuscan Sun at the Most Romantic Villa We’ve Ever Seen

Dreaming of a wedding destination that feels like a real life fairytale? Infinite views, enchanted gardens and sparkling pools for your guests to enjoy – let us introduce your to Belmond Villa San Michele – a venue that encompasses that and SO much more. Lucas Rossi PhotographyAcquamarina Wedding Planner, and  CMG Events brought together a talented team of local Italian vendors to create an inspiration shoot that illustrates the effortless elegance and endless romance of the beautiful city of Florence. From the balcony reception to the muted color palette… be sure to stay tuned ’til the very end for an incredible video wrap-up from Marco Abba – then head on over to the full gallery of images for some major destination wedding inspo.

From CMG EventsTucked away in the outskirts of Florence, Italy is the stunning venue Belmond Villa San Michele. With stunning views of the skyline of the romantic city, you could not imagine anywhere else you would want to be. No better place to look into the eyes of the one you love and say ‘I do’.

We traveled from California with Lucas Rossi Photography to capture a destination we know people long to see and more frequently these days, planning to emulate with their destination weddings. We partnered with local wedding planner IIlaria Manaresi of Acquamarina Wedding Planner to help navigate through the Italian language and help us build a team of incredible Italian vendors.

Florals, by Nina Eifiori, came from Rome, rentals from Milan, dress from downtown Florence and so many more. The collaboration was an inspiring international thing of beauty. We knew we wanted romance and it to feel authentic to Florence, which is why we chose an elegantly muted palette to let the details speak for themselves.

My favorite design element was the tablescape that was enclosed in its personal balcony with views of the entire city of Florence. I knew that others would see this shot and feel the same emotion I did standing there in the moment. It was an honor putting this editorial together and would be an honor to share with the SMP readers and have them transport to Florence and start daydreaming about or planning their own Italian destination wedding.

Traditional Chicago Home with Chic Designer Touches All Around

The best thing about having the opportunity to run SMP Living for the second time around is that I get to spend my days searching for beautiful homes. The deep network of incredible bloggers and designers who are graciously opening their doors to the world is never-ending and I get lost in homes like this one each and every day. And lucky for us, most of them are super sweet and are totally game to share those very homes with us…like the beautiful Andrea Denes over at Life on Cedar Lane. Full gallery right here and GORG insta feed here!

When we built our house the one thing I knew is I wanted an all white kitchen.  I had drooled for months on pinterest and instagram over gorgeous light and bright kitchens, and knew that was exactly how I would design mine.

One of the things I love about design and decor, is there really are no rules. You can mix styles, colors, patterns, high and low budget pieces…all that matters is what’s beautiful to you. What works for one person, may not for another…and ultimately your design has to be perfect for you, and you should make choices based on what you love.

I feel so lucky to have been able to build this home and design it specifically for our young family’s needs. I of course wanted to choose beautiful finishes and decor pieces, but more importantly I wanted to design a home my family could grow up in, feel comfortable in, and that would always welcome them home.

In terms of design, I definitely lean more traditional, maybe a little transitional at times. I wanted this home to feel bright and airy, and threw in some touches of coastal here and there as my happy place is definitely near the water.

The most challenging thing about designing our living room was the space planning.  While we were building, my husband and I used cardboard boxes to visualize the sizes of the furniture we were ordering for this room.  It also meant ordering two rug sizes to see what worked best once we did finally move in!  In this space the 10′ x 14′ was the winner.

With children running around afoot (I have four), you have to be realistic and know that at some point your furniture or decor could potentially have a run in with a sticky dirty hand or worse, a marker (or chap stick in our case)! Slip covered furniture is key in our home, I love our big white comfy couches and love even more that they can be easily washed!

All breakable decor items go up on pretty bookshelves! And all the greenery in my home is faux, I definitely don’t have time to clean up a knocked over pot or vase full of water! I also love our open floor plan for our big family!

Our bedroom – most like the rest of our home – is a work in progress. But I love what we have done so far. There are a few items we’re still in need of but like all things, it’s always better to be patient and select the perfect pieces for your space than make a rushed decision just to get it done quick…even though it’s tempting!

Throughout this process, I, like many others, got a ton of inspiration from places like Instagram and Pinterest. I follow many designers with all different styles, but ultimately I’m looking for what is beautiful to me. One of my favorite designers is Caitlin Wilson Design, and have several of her gorgeous rugs and textiles.

I love my master for many reasons, but one of the best parts is that it’s one of the few spaces in my home that feels totally done. Aside from window treatments this space feels complete to me with is a wonderful feeling to have one room checked off!

I have purchased many of my bigger furniture pieces from stores like Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn, but don’t get me wrong I love an amazing HomeGoods score. Anthropologie is another one of my faves for pretty decor items!

And Etsy is also a great resources, I’ve gotten some beautiful vintage rugs and pretty pillows from different shop owners on there!

Building our home has been wonderful. Throughout the journey, I found I had a true passion for all things home design.  I scoured instagram and blogs alike to make sure that I got every detail just right, and loved that there were so many out there willing to share their creativeness with the world.

One of my favorite designers – whom I always look to for pure inspiration – is Shea McGee from Studio McGee. I absolutely love the spaces she creates. They’re always the perfect mix of styles with tons of layers of gorgeous styling. Her shop has the most beautiful decor accessories too!

There is so much I love about our new home, but the best parts are the people I share it with.  I’m grateful each and every day for my husband Ryan, and amazing kiddos Aubrey (6), Logan (4), Brooklyn (2), & Hunter (10 months) who arrived a week after we moved in!

Thank you SO much for stopping by. Every image here has a SHOPPABLE link on my blog! If there are elements you see that you love, you can click these speedy links and voila, they are yours!

Are You as Obsessed with Terracotta as we are? Don’t Miss This.

Terracotta may be the color of the moment, but I’m a firm believer this hue is perpetually beautiful… in our homes, our closets and especially in weddings. Bronte Bride and Faint Floral seemed to think so, too, as they crafted this entire editorial around it. My friends, the result is steal-worthy. Are you considering adding terracotta into your wedding color palette? Please say yes! See every last detail below thanks to Kristyn Harder and Gary Lewis, and don’t miss more details from Bronte Bride here.

From the Stylist, Bronte Bride… I wanted to showcase terracotta in a subtle yet elegant way, highlighting natural earthy tones and infusing bold colours like coral and burnt orange. From the handmade earrings and hand sculpted place cards to the decorative vases on the tablescape, clay and terracotta tones were prevalent throughout the shoot in the most beautiful ways.

Ralph Klein Park is a conservation area, located just East of Calgary Alberta, filled with natural wetlands and wildlife. We loved integrating a clear juxtaposition of the modern cement building with the surrounding natural wildlife area. It’s a stunning venue placed in a picturesque landscape.

From the Florist, Faint Floral… For this shoot I wanted to keep the flowers similar and complimentary to the dry, grassy Alberta environment. My main goal was to keep everything light, airy, and organic. The ingredients that I used and inspired me were Protea, Willow Branches, dried Eucalyptus, dried Yarrow, foraged grasses, and then a pop of coral Naranga roses.

Considering an Intimate Elopement? Allow THIS to Convince You.

Can’t decide between a big wedding or an intimate elopement? Take one look at the full gallery from this romantic hillside affair in Australia planned by Aravella Event Design and we guarantee it’ll be the easiest decision you ever made. Zinnia Floral Design created textural arrangements with a mix of dried flowers and lush blooms in delicate neutral shades that complimented the countryside locale. The entire day was captured to perfection by Katie Grant Photography! Not going to lie, this elopement is so good it has me reconsidering all my wedding plans…

From Katie Grant PhotographyTaking inspiration from the rolling farmland views of Natalie from Zinnia Floral Design’s family farm, I chose colours and textures that mimicked the landscape. Neutral shades of white and soft golden hues set the tone, with natural wood, soft linen, and travertine stone.

To keep the design cohesive with the surroundings, I used colours and textures throughout the design in repetition. Natalie from Zinnia Floral Design created a textural bouquet and arrangements of dried foliage, roses, dahlia, and Queen Anne’s lace, which evoke the feeling of the rambling countryside.

For the tablescape, we paired white linen with handmade organic plates, hand calligraphed details by Small Brown Writes, all set underneath a hardwood arbor for an intimate dinner.

Chrystal’s stunning hand embellished MXM Couture gown floated behind her as she wandered through the golden grass.

The warm summer light lingered as the sun set behind the hills and was perfect to enjoy a glass of local wine and a slice of the beautifully crafted cake by The Cake and I.

When Magazine Worthy Meets DIY Home Tour

Kicking off Monday with the beautiful home of Sincerely Sarah D! If you don’t know her blog, you should. If you don’t follow her on insta, you should. If you just want to live vicariously through Sara’s gorgeous spaces…you can! Because today, she is sharing all of the pretty and her inspiration behind it right here!

On Her Aesthetic…Generally, I lean towards a more elegant, traditional design style.  I need order, so I use symmetry in most of my designs.  I also love dreamy, neutral designs, but I also crave color.  I find that I mix both into my designs.

On her decorating philosophy…Although it’s taken me awhile to get to this point, I realize that not everyone is going to love my design style, and that’s okay!  I have grown to appreciate different design styles.  We don’t all dress alike, and honestly it would be such a boring world if we all decorated and dressed the same. As a result, I’ve come to really appreciate (and follow) designers who have a different design sense.  I realize I can find inspiration from their designs!

Although it’s sometime hard to see from photos, we live in this house.  I spend hours cleaning up and hiding stuff before photo shoots.  I bring in fresh flowers and pretty props.  Our house NEVER looks like it does in my photos.   However, you all want to see pretty photos – no one wants to see my mess (but know it is there).

Our kitchen remodel was centered around opening up the space so we can all fit in the kitchen and the island is the center of our home.  The kids eat there and hang out while I’m working in the kitchen.

My husband and I DIYed our kitchen over the span of 9 weeks. The layout was terrible, and we wanted to open the space more to be more conducive for entertaining.  Last summer at Haven Conference (a DIY home décor blogger conference), I pitched my kitchen remodel to The Home Depot.  I won, and as a result we were able to remodel our kitchen.  Now, part of the pitch was that my husband and I would DIY the kitchen. What I didn’t tell The Home Depot was that we had never done a project of this caliber.  We have built some wall treatments and small shelving projects, but we definitely didn’t know how to remodel a kitchen!

You can see Sara’s DIY Kitchen Projects right here!

Frankly, I’m surprised my husband and I are still together after that project!  We spent late nights and weekends working on that remodel.  It was absolutely exhausting, but it is so amazing to look at our kitchen and realize that WE built it!

As a décor blogger, I have found that I am not as sentimental about pieces as I once was.  My job is to change up my space, and that often results in getting rid of pieces.  I do, however, save smaller family heirlooms such as dishes and photos.

When we remodeled our master bathroom, I kept going back to an old home (Rockcliffe Mansion) I toured in Hannibal Missouri.   I saw a bathroom in that home, and I was obsessed with how gorgeous and timeless it was.  I tend to adore everything from the turn-of-the-century.  I tried to replicate that look (subway tile, brushed nickel faucets) while adding in a few modern touches such as the wood floor tile.

Who do you look to (blogger, designer, etc) for your inspiration?

I love the elegance of the past. I am obsessed with PBS period pieces, and I think it’s because I am so inspired by the decor and dress (Downton Abbey, Poldark, Victoria). We went to DC over spring break, and I could not get enough of Washington’s home, Mt. Vernon. I follow Chateau de Gudanes on Instagram and just die over their gorgeous imagery.

In regards to more current bloggers/designers, I absolutely love the work of Caitlin Wilson and Bria Hammel Interiors.

Are there any mistakes you made when decorating or remodeling?

Oh my goodness. Where do I begin?! Decorating has definitely been a journey, and I’ve grown the longer I’ve done it. It took me a while to find out exactly who I was as a designer. Once I discovered that, I became much more confident in my own abilities and feel like my confidence has been able to shine through.

What stores or online resources are your faves?

Both of the designers I mentioned earlier (Caitlin & Bria) have product, and I am so inspired by what they offer (I have some of Caitlin Wilson’s wallpaper in my mudroom). However, although I adore elegance, it does come with a price. My goal is to achieve the look without spending the crazy amount of money it often requires. I wish I could buy pieces from my favorite designers, but I am inspired and find similar pieces for less. I buy lighting from Lamps Plus and often find bedding on Amazon. I love HomeGoods and Target for decor pieces.

Add This French Chateau to Your List of Dream Wedding Venues

From Orange County to the South of France, Kristin and Cameron’s destination wedding celebration is one for the books, and their venue might just be the next one you add to your wishlist. Château de Tourreau was a charming choice and with the help of White Eden Weddings, it became the setting for layers upon layers of elegance. Don’t take my word for it, spend a moment with the imagery from Rory Wylie and the film from Matthias Guerin. You’ll soon forget that you’re a virtual guest!

How and when did you meet? What do you do for work?

We met in Orange County, CA at an Angels baseball game. Cameron had extra tickets to his dugout suite and gave them to his friend, Mike. Mike was good friends with my roommate at the time, Danielle and he invited us both to the game. I met Cameron and thanked him for the tickets. We ended up talking the rest of the night about business, politics, and life goals…you know all the romantic stuff. I thought he was incredibly handsome, but I really was attracted to his mind, first! The game cameras had panned to our dugout, so our meeting was actually broadcast on live TV! Our friend Dave recorded it for us and we still watch it and laugh.

We now own our own business together in the private investments and tax advisory space.

Tell us about the proposal -When/where/how?

Cameron loves to surprise me. We casually looked at rings in the Summer of 2018, so I thought a proposal may come in the Fall of 2018. We had talked about a trip to Napa, so I suspected a proposal would come then. But much to surprise, we were getting ready to go to one of our favorite restaurants, The Ranch, and he asked me to come check out the sunset with him while we waited for our driver to arrive.

I walked over and he looked behind him. I realized he was making sure he had space for his knee, and started internally screaming! He told me “I hope you meant forever when you said forever, because you’re my best friend and I want to spend forever with you.” He got down on one knee and I of course said yes. We got to share some champagne and soak in the moment on the couch alone before heading to dinner. My parents surprised me and met us and we got to celebrate with them! It was simple, magical, and perfect.

What date were you married? What season was this and did you choose the season or date for any particular reason?

We got married on 4th May, 2019Springtime in Provence is famous. There are even candle scents and songs made about it. We wanted to go when everything was starting to bloom and the heat of summer hadn’t kicked in yet.

How did you choose the venue and what did you love about it?

Our planners, Mylene and Geoffrey of White Eden Weddings, sent us 5 venue options when we started looking. I kept coming back to “the one with the green shutters.” Everything about Chateau de Tourreau was perfect. A big factor was the ability to rent it for the long weekend. We wanted to create a full experience for our guests to really soak in the weekend. Almost all our guests were able to stay on the property with us. The ones that couldn’t were only a 5 minute walk away at an adorable Bed and Breakfast.

I also loved that it would be a completely private venue exclusively for us and our guests!

What type of bride were you? I.e. did you know what you wanted for the day immediately or was it a longer process?

I had never really dreamed of my wedding decor, theme, etc but I knew how I wanted to feel. I had heard so many horror stories from other brides about not remembering anything because things went by so quickly. One bride even told me she didn’t eat dinner because she was so busy running around. Cameron and I knew from the beginning we wanted people to be left feeling so much joy, love, and a chance to really slow down and be present.

From there, I worked with the planners to create an unforgettable wedding weekend for guests. This included a wine tour through Chateauneuf du Pape, games of pool and basketball, and brunch. The idea that guests would never be wanting so they could just enjoy themselves and mingle with the most important people to us. The florals, music, dress, and all the details just fell into place during the process. I even asked the planners to keep some things a surprise until the day of so I could feel like I was experiencing it with all my guests for the first time! In fact, we didn’t even visit the venue until the rehearsal!

What did you enjoy most about the lead up to the wedding?

The adventure of it all. I wasn’t sure exactly how it would all look, but I knew it would be a reflection of Cameron and I as a couple. There was a lot of trust involved on Cameron and my end with the planners and vendors and also a lot of trust on the guests end to travel across the world! I think it is a lot like Cameron and my love story… the journey, the adventure, and the surprises are what make it so much fun!

What inspired the style and theme of your wedding?

Mylene and Geoffrey of White Eden Wedding really helped me create the vision. I wanted it to feel classic romantic with a modern twist. It was also important to me it felt very French, not an American wedding thrown in France. Our color choices (French blue, gold, white) was a bit unexpected in the best way.

Did you have a wedding planner? How did you find them?

I did! I can hardly put into words how thankful I was for Mylene and Geoffrey of White Eden Weddings. They were there with me every step of the way and went above and beyond on the actual wedding day! I found them by google search. I searched for a few wedding planners based in South of France that had U.S. bride experience. They were only my second interview (via Skype) but I was in love! They were a young couple that also owned business together and I knew quickly that they were perfect for the job.

I had so much fun working with them. We 100% worked through Skype and email to plan. They totally supported my vision and offered great suggestions and touches that made the day stunning. They worked so hard to make sure everything went smoothly.

How would you describe the theme of your wedding day?

The day was full of love, joy, and acceptance. Because it was such a far destination, we had a small wedding of 40 guests. They came from all over, some were married, single, older, younger, and many had very different experiences. But the one thing they all had in common was love and support for Cameron and I. By the end, all our guests were raving about how they had made thirty new friends. Love was so present for everyone, and that is something I haven’t always seen at other weddings. It made me so happy to see the people I love most spending time together.

Were there any little styling details you’d like to tell us about? What inspired your choices with your overall personal look e.g. Dress, makeup, hair, accessories?

Because my hair and makeup vendor was local to Southern France, I didn’t meet her until my Friday night trial. My hair and makeup inspiration was Hollywood Glamour. I wanted big curls with a side sweep and fun hair barrettes for drama. Makeup was natural but glowy.

My something borrowed was my sister in law’s hair piece (it coincidentally had tiny feathers and pearls on it that matched my dress)! My something blue were my bouquet flowers, my something new was my dress, and my something old was a tiny ruby ladybug my grandmother gave to my mom was she was little. We pinned the ladybug safely in my bouquet.

Tell us about your dress and why you picked the dress you did? Did find it immediately or did you travel and search for longer?

I took a few friends and my mom to a couple bridal boutiques local in my area (Orange County, CA). I found it difficult to shop at first because I couldn’t believe I was trying on wedding dresses! It took awhile to not feel like an out of body experience. But after trying on 5 dresses or so, I quickly fell in love with the drama and glamour of the designer, Galia Lahav. I made an appointment to go to their flagship store with my mom and found “the one” pretty quickly.

We laughed that I had picked a dress with pearl straps and tiny feathers, but it we knew the Gatsby inspired dress would fit the venue beautifully.

Who did you have in your bridal party and what did it mean to you to have those people involved?

My bridal party included my best friends I’ve had since grade school, my sister in law who I consider a sister, the roommate that introduced Cameron and I, and my maid of honor, who I met in college.

Having friends fly across the world to support Cameron and I was such an honor. Some flew alone, took planes, trains, and automobiles. When I asked if they were sure, their response was always “I wouldn’t miss it.” The Chateau has an all white grand room that looks over the whole property where we all got to get ready and drink champagne together. I have incredible, very funny girlfriends that kept me laughing all day. It was impossible to be stressed!

Did you use other ways to involve friends and family in special moments during the day?

There is a chapel on the Chateau de Tourreau property that was built in 1612. The main colors inside are purple and gold and you can instantly feel the history when you walk inside. We invited all the guests to an informal prayer the morning of the wedding day. Guests shared kind words about the importance of a marriage rooted in faith and we all prayed together. When we walked outside then was a stillness and peace outside. I carried that with me throughout the day and it allowed me to be calm and present even in the flurry of getting ready and down the aisle. I had been refocused on what the day was about and what was most important.

Where did you source most of your ideas, including flowers and food?

I asked the planners for directions on florals. I wanted to keep the florals local to the Provence area. My only request was no eucalyptus!

For food, I looked up the caterer’s work on Instagram and loved their presentation. Our food at cocktail hour was whimsical and interactive. The live cooking stations (like fresh carved ham) and decadent bites (like foie gras macaroons) really made guests feel like they were in France. In addition to the traditional 3 course dinner, we thought it would be fun to offer late night bites to fuel the dancing. Mini burgers and Nutella crepes were very appreciated around 1am or so.

Most memorable moment from your wedding day?

It’s hard to pick one so I’ll name a few.

For Cameron, it was morning prayer, the moment of our first look, seeing me walk down the aisle, and dancing to Old Town Road with all of our friends.

For me, it was my mom putting on my wedding shoes but I couldn’t reach and her telling me “the last time I did this, I think they were Mary Janes.” It was my planners telling me to slow down because I was running in my dress to see Cameron for the first time for our first look. It was riding with my dad to get to the aisle and barely fitting myself, my train, my veil, my bouquet, and my dad in the back. It was my dad telling me on that drive that “He’ll always love me,” and me telling him “I’ll always be his daughter.” It was walking away from the party back to the Chateau and carrying all that love and joy from our favorite people with me. Pure magic!

Where did you go on your honeymoon and why?

Before we took off for the honeymoon, we had leftover wedding cake and champagne in the kitchen and said a tearful goodbye to Chateau de Tourreau.

The first part of the honeymoon was the Amalfi Coast. We stayed at Le Sirenuse hotel in Positano for four days. Our favorite things we did in Amalfi was a private yacht from Positano to Capri, a private wine tour and five course lunch in Raito, a couple’s massage, and laying by the pool enjoying the signature Le Sirenuse cocktail with the view. It was so nice to be relaxed, full, and somewhat off the grid!

The second half of the honeymoon we spent in Paris. We felt like we had make a stop at the most romantic city in the world! We stayed at the Shangri-La Paris and had a terrace with an Eiffel Tower view! It was incredible. Our favorite moments of Paris wandering walking the streets, our 13 course meal at Guy Savoy, and watching the Eiffel Tower at night over champagne.

We couldn’t have planned such a spectacular honeymoon without the help of Katy Hennetar of Coveted Journeys. She made unique, authentic suggestions for the area and was thoughtful about balancing exploring and relaxing. All of the drivers she coordinated were always on time, spoke English, and were incredibly professional. We are never planning another trip without her!

What is your number one piece of advice you would give to other brides?

As much as possible, let go. As for the vendors and planners, trust the professionals that you hired to do their job! I gave general direction, but their suggestions were often far more beautiful than I could have imagined or directed.

As for the wedding day, the more you plan is the more that can go wrong. The best moments were the surprises. Not planning every second of the day allowed me to be so much more at peace and present throughout the day.

I would also recommend awesome planners. They kept the process leading up to the wedding fun, they thought of details I would have never considered (like guest bathroom details… who thinks of that)? and they made sure the actual wedding day was on time so there were no weird gaps or rushing through magical moments (like a first look).

How did you find your wedding photographer, how was it working with them, in the lead up and on the day?

Rory was recommended to us by our planners. We Skyped before wedding day, and I loved that she took the time to get to know us as a couple. I feel like it allowed her to capture the moments she knew would be important to us that way.

Wedding day couldn’t have gone more beautifully. There were moments I started to feel a little pressure on time, but she assured me there was nothing to worry about. I’m so glad she did because some of my favorite shots of the day were unplanned (like the ones with my parents in the entrance before the first look or the aerial view of me walking down the stairs).

Cameron and I didn’t have much trouble being natural in front of the camera, but to loosen up family and friends, she would say “fromage!” Which is of course “cheese” in French. We still say it when we take photos and it makes us smile.

Rory captured the day, emotion, and our most treasured people perfectly. We are so thankful we found her!

Did You Know Washington Waterfront Weddings Could Be This Pretty?

We see many a West Coast weddings… hello, California! But it’s not as often that we see Washington weddings, set on waterfront venues as pretty as Roche Harbor Resort. It’s the stunning spot that today’s fete is set at and oh, does it deliver. I should say Gather Design Company delivers… they planned, designed and bloom-ed up the entire celebration, all of which Blue Rose Photography captured. Have a look below for the full day.

From Gather Design Company… Kelly and Ryan came to us with a beautiful vision of an upscale seaside wedding at Roche Harbor Resort on San Juan Island in Washington state. Kelly and Ryan envisioned a weekend getaway for their guests on San Juan Island, where they could enjoy the best the Pacific Northwest has to offer: seafood, rocky beaches, local wines, and lodging at the historic Roche Harbor Resort.

From start to finish, the design reflected a strong sense of place. Their guests were introduced to their wedding with handmade invitations by The Fancy Cat Studio, which included a custom crest and a sketch of the Hotel del Haro, Roche Harbor’s most iconic backdrop. The invitations were tied with a dusty lavender silk ribbon, another preview to the wedding design.

Kelly’s Justin Alexander gown from Nyanza Bridal was a lovely mix of structure and whimsy, with a full skirt and an elegant, beaded lace top. She changed into a custom Stesha Ho gown for dancing and golden hour photos.

Kelly fell in love with the softest shade of dusty lavender, which made appearances throughout the design, from her mismatched but cohesive bridesmaid gowns to her table linens. For their ceremony in the garden, we created a ‘growing’ ceremony backdrop to frame but not overpower the couple and their wedding party. Flowers also lined the back row of the chairs.

For the reception in the Pavilion, we brought a sense of luxury with dusty lavender velvet linens, topped with Parisian inspired chargers and clean, modern flatware. To offset from the linens, we kept flowers in a neutral white and green palette, in a mix of full, fluffy and smaller textural blooms. The fireplace was lit with several hundred hurricane candles. Some of our other favorite details of the day was the vintage key escort card display and the couple’s choice to gift their guests San Juan Island Sea Salts as favors.

We were so happy with how the design evolved from inspiration to reality!

‘Southern Charm’s’ Eliza Limehouse and Her Boyfriend Fell in Love During THIS Styled Shoot and Their Story Is #Couplegoals

When it comes to timeless elegance and charm, there’s truly no wedding destination in the world that can compete with Charleston – and this editorial from The Petal Report proves just that. A vintage powder blue getaway car, floral linen, and miles of Spanish moss as far as the eyes can see… every detail of this shoot perfectly captures the sweet essence of Lowcountry. Speaking of southern charm… you may recognize the beautiful bride – Eliza Devereaux Limehouse from Bravo’s Southern Charm! She started dating her now boyfriend, Struthers, right after shooting this together as bride and groom – can you believe that?! It just doesn’t get any cuter. We were lucky enough to speak to Eliza and hear her side of the story – now we’re dishing all the adorable details below! Don’t forget to head over to the full gallery by Anne Rhett Photography to see all the southern sweetness.

How did you and Struthers meet?! You two are so gorgeous together!

Well… we’ve known each other for years through mutual friends, from our families being in politics and just through keeping up on social media. I always had a boyfriend and he always had a girlfriend, so we were just friends — always had a thing for each other but never acted on it — but there’s always been this “what if” factor. When I needed a groom for this shoot I was like, “let me think of the hottest person I know”! So I called him and was like “Hey do you want to model for this wedding shoot?”, he’s like “I’ve never modeled before” and I was like “Good! Just come on down!” so that’s how it all went down! I had never gotten butterflies before until I kissed and I thought – “wow this must be the real deal!”

Do you have any ideas for your own dream wedding? Were you inspired by any details from this particular shoot?

Oh my gosh — yes! First of all, it was such a weird feeling, a good feeling — but a feeling I’ve never felt before because Anne and Linsey and all the people that were a part of this shoot kept joking the whole time that we [Eliza and Struthers] were going to get married or that this was our real wedding saying that they could feel the energy between us. They all thought he was super cute too and kept asking things like “Are y’all going to name your kids after us? Are y’all going to let us plan your wedding?” At first I was just laughing and thought they were so funny until I kissed him and realized “oh my gosh, I think I love this person!” And it was such a weird feeling because we were at a wedding shoot and we liked each other!

Struthers and I were joking on Instagram [after the shoot] in a sneak-peak post like “it’s so funny that on our first date we got married” and I was like “can’t wait to name our first born Linsey Anne!” because they were joking about naming our kids after them… meanwhile I didn’t know that Struthers mom’s name is Laura Anne and his sister’s name was Mills Anne! And they were like “how’d did you know our family name!?” and I was like “oh my gosh I didn’t – that was a joke!” We were laughing too because the whole thing was so natural that we were like “if we had a preacher out there, we would have just gotten married!”

This shoot was literally my dream wedding. Everything from the dresses, to the car, to the details on the tables and invitations! Literally everything was what I would imagine if I were to get married. The only thing I would do different is get married in the winter – not when it’s warm out!

How did it feel shooting at a venue that is so near and dear to your heart?

It was so cool – I loved it! Everyone always says “don’t you want to have a destination wedding?” and I’m always like “no — if I ever got married I would definitely want it to be at home under the oak trees.”

Tell us about what it’s like to be a part of the Southern Charm cast? Any good gossip you can share?

Well, I don’t know what I’m allowed to share because we’re still airing episodes, but it has definitely been an experience for sure! Reality TV is so weird because it’s real life. There are definitely pros and cons! I love the business exposure and meeting all the awesome fans but I’m definitely stressed out all the time like “oh what are people going to think”, you kind of just have to let go of expectations – it’s been an experience I don’t know how else to explain it! It’s like something you can’t describe and something that there’s no way to prepare yourself for it. It’s such a hard question to answer, I’ve been asked it a few times and still haven’t gotten it down yet! You’re definitely going to be surprised about some of the things you see coming up – especially towards the end. We still have a little drama left that’s going to shock everybody!

From The Petal Report… Inspiration for this shoot started with the marshlands of Kiawah River. The blue tones picked up in the glistening streams the trickle backed by the rustic grasses, we pulled from the elements to bring together something elevated. We wanted to incorporate different patterns and textures while still keeping everything beautiful and soft. We chose a floral linen, rooted in the blues that pulled at our heartstrings, from The Curated Line to start off our table decor. Building off of that, we gravitated toward brown sweet peas, toffee roses and anemones for their romantic ruffles but tawny tones. Plates popped off the color palette with two-tones and calligraphy place cards called back to the romantic aesthetic. The deckle edge in the paper reminded us of the marsh grasses rippling in the current, and the texture in the paper called to the foliage around us. Making it look like a real wedding day, we included a “his & hers” lounge set where we envisioned our groom and his pals could sit back and enjoy a cigar whereas our bride and her ladies could sip on champagne while relaxing amongst the Oaks.

Love bloomed on this day between our “bride” and “groom.” Eliza and Struthers had met before, but only twice. As they stood enveloped in the tides and cool breezes, they promptly fell in love. A real life couple now, their chemistry was clearly undeniable. The old farmhouse that stands at the front of the development used to be the home of our bride’s, Eliza Deveraux Limehouse, great grandmother. Seeing the history come to life from our fictional wedding was truly an amazing addition. Bringing in a vintage car that could have been used in the same day’s as that said grandmother, we had our happy couple stationed within to show what a sweet getaway it would be. Two bridal looks were incorporated to show the whimsy and elegance that the day dictated. Lindsey Nowak, stylist, curated a look from Lovely Bride, with the way it whispered a bohemian nonchalance, and one from Southern Protocol, with perfect femininity. Croghans sent over some gems to cinch the entire look, and it seemed as if she grew to be placed on this very day and in this very spot. The story is simple, but true. We set out to create an intimate wedding rooted in the Lowcountry, and we brought to life a real-life romance in the home of the bride’s grandmother. Somethings are meant to be, despite best laid plans, and this plan was true Charleston perfection.

A Top Wedding Planner Shares Her 10 Tips for a Flawless Wedding Reception

Having spoken at one of Laurie Arons Special Events‘ Masterclasses, I can say first hand that I’ve never learned more (about creating a memorable experience) than I did in those few days. While many of us fill our Pinterest boards with pretty details, it’s easy to lose sight of the actual experience guests are breathing in—from the seating assignments to the ease of conversation at a table to the line at the bar. Laurie is sharing 10 of her top tips for a flawless reception with us today—along with stunning imagery from Jose Villa—and it may just change the way you think about your celebration.

10 Tips for a Flawless Wedding Reception

1. The best receptions should feel cozy and intimate. Map out the floor plan so tables are close together and everyone is part of the action. If your reception space is too large for your group, consider draping off a portion to make the room a little smaller.

2. Speaking of cozy and intimate, I always avoid using large tables like 72-inch rounds or Kings Tables for seating. Smaller size tables bring guests little closer together and foster group conversation. My favorite sizes are 8-foot rectangular Queens Table, because guests can actually speak to everyone at the table.

3. Make sure to have the right size linens for your tables, and when it doubt, go bigger. Linens should go all the way to the ground. Ask your venue, caterer or planner to steam them so they look perfect.

4. Take the time to assign seating (at least assigned tables) so guests don’t have to stress about where, and with whom, to sit. Seat VIPs like parents and wedding party in different locations around the room, rather than all in the center. This way, every guest feels like they’re near someone important. Young friends should be assigned tables near the bar or near the stage, places that older guests tend to want a little distance from.

5. Be mindful of what goes on the table. Centerpieces that block conversation can really effect the guest experience. I always avoid unnecessary clutter from bread plates, too much glassware and dessert flatware above the plates. A well-edited table is more beautiful and more comfortable for guests.

6. Serve one meal to all guests (with a vegetarian alternative) rather than a pre-selected choice of entree. Meal choices can be hard to track down and lead to chaotic, or delayed service on the wedding day. You don’t want the meal to go on too long – guests want to get up dance!

7. Music really add to the energy and success of a wedding, so I ask our bands and DJs to keep announcements and talking to a minimum. People want to dance, not be interrupted by a chatty Emcee.

8. Another key to setting the mood is lighting – low, romantic light feels more festive, is very flattering, and people feel much comfortable dancing in the dark. I prefer incandescent bulbs over LED, and my favorite lighting gel is called Chocolate.

9. Make sure your venue or caterer has enough bartenders for the size of your group. Long lines at the bar can really frustrate your guests. We always tray-pass some beverages at the start of cocktail hour to help take pressure off the bar.

10. Enjoy yourself! The best receptions are full of positivity and love exuding from bride and groom. So when the time comes to celebrate, take off your planning hat and just enjoy the moment. If you’re stressing about the small stuff, you’ll miss what’s really important.

How to Stay Calm While Wedding Planning: Tips and Tricks from Real Brides

Whether you’ve decided to take the reins and carry out the planning yourself, or hired a planner and designer to make some of the magic happen, when it comes to orchestrating the details of your wedding day, emotions can run a little high. As a benchmark, once in a lifetime moment in your life, it’s hard not to miss the forest for the trees, especially when inundated with decisions ranging from what dress to wear to what food to serve to DJ vs live band–and, for real this time, there’s plenty more where that came from. The key to not losing your head in the months leading up to the big day lies somewhere between staying organized and letting loose. We asked real brides to share their tried and tested advice (after all, they’ve been there!) on what it takes to go from engaged to newlywed with your sanity still in tact. Here’s a hint: it’s not impossible!

Photography by Asia Pimentel Photography | Top by Monique Lhuillier | Skirt by Zuhair Murad

Stop and smell the roses.

“Getting married is an experience that only happens once, so don’t try and rush it—being engaged is such a special season of life!” says real SMP bride Mary Daniel Simpson, and they’re incredibly wise words for brides to be! We won’t blame you one bit for wanting to put your head down and power through your seemingly endless wedding to-do list. With everything from choosing the band, taste testing the wedding cake, and figuring out how many people you can actually extend an invitation to, your checklist will run the gamut of nitty gritty details to make or break decisions (don’t forget to find an officiant!) which can potentially leave you feeling frazzled, overwhelmed, and off your game. The important thing to remember is that the journey from “She said yes!” to “I do!” is a process that will take time, so you might as well enjoy it while it’s happening. You normal, everyday life doesn’t have to go from zero to sixty as soon as the ring’s on your finger, and you’re better off taking in the engagement season that counting the days until it’s over–it will go by faster than you think!

“Wedding planning can be stressful, so it’s important to continue ‘living’, and not let wedding planning consume your whole life.” Real SMP bride Julie Wang emphasized the importance of remaining cool under all that wedding planning pressure by taking it nice and easy when it came to treating herself throughout the process. “On many occasions, I went out and enjoyed dinner with friends or family. I took relaxing baths, and watched TV or comedy shows, to take my mind off planning. One thing to keep in mind – while the wedding celebration is important, it is more important to have a healthy state of mind.”

Embrace the art of relaxation, if only to give you, your trusty wedding planning sidekicks, and yes, even your groom, a chance to bask in the glow of soaking up all the fun to be had as you make plans for the celebration. Make intentional plans for ‘me time’, even if it’s a Sunday afternoon stroll through the park every week or an ice cream date with your Maid of Honor once a month. It will do wonders for morale, not to mention your sanity, and you’ll never regret easing towards the finish line of the wedding date instead of going after it at full steam ahead.

“I would set aside one day, usually Sundays, to not focus on anything wedding related,” shares real bride & SMP contributor Sarah Koller. With that, I’d treat myself to a nice brunch, a luxurious bubble bath, or a high-quality face mask. This way, I’d feel recharged to tackle the rest of the week and any wedding items that would come my way!”

Celebrate the little victories.

In the grand scheme of things, planning a wedding can feel more like a marathon and less like a sprint, especially depending on the length of your engagement. While it’s important to keep your eye on the prize, i.e. the wedding day, there’s bound to be countless moments worthy of celebration, if you know where to look. “We celebrated every time something big was accomplished–mailing the save the dates and invitations, picking the band, choosing the florals, booking the caterer–by ordering our favorite Thai food and a chilled bottle of sauvignon blanc,” says Simpson. “Every checkmark on your to-do list gets you one step closer to actually getting to marry one another, so if you think about it that way, embrace all the small celebrations along the way!” It’s good to understand that yes, planning every detail is a job in and of itself, but one that’s immensely rewarding, and worthy of a celebration or two along the way. Finding moments of joy amongst it all is the major key to keeping your spirits up, and a perfect excuse to have some fun just because. Every decision, even the little ones, equate to one more puzzle piece falling into place. Ultimately, it’s all about attitude, and finding small moments of victory is going to improve your outlook on the planning process overall–even if you hire a planner who’s determining your planning timeline for you!–the glass will always be half full when it comes to planning, if you realize that what you’re planning is the ultimate celebration in and of itself.

Prioritize your priorities.

Your wedding day is a deeply personal moment in the course of your life, which means regardless of budget of guest list, what matters most to you should be front and center, both during planning and on the day you say “I do.” You’ll never regret making the decision to focus on what you find to be the most important to you. It’s less about balancing the small decisions with the big decisions, and more about prioritizing what’s important, then see how it makes the rest of the decisions easier to make further down the line. Are florals the most important to you? Perhaps photography? Don’t be swayed in trying to please everyone else’s hopes and desires for you big day–it’s virtually impossible, and a quick and surefire way to set someone–especially yourself–up for disappointment.

A great way to make sure you stay focused and don’t lose sight of what really matters to you is to actually give away some of the responsibility of planning. That might come through choosing a planner that is with you every step of the way or asking for help from your wedding party.  “Delegate, delegate, delegate!” says Koller. “When I got overly stressed about having too many tasks, I’d reach out to family, bridesmaids or my MOH for help. Even assigning out small things (like making the playlist for the bridal party bus) made me feel more at ease and reminded me that I wasn’t alone in the process!” Simpson agrees to, citing her planner Anne-Claire as the voice of reason when it came to restructuring their priorities when they needed it. “Have someone in your life that will (1) help you process what your real ‘big fish’ priorities are, and (2) keep those at the forefront of all planning for you. Our wedding planner, Anne-Claire, did that for us. When it seemed like my family or I was losing sight of John’s and my priorities, she would realign us perfectly!

If you’re committed to undergoing the task of planning and designing things without the help of a professional planner during the process, consider your options for a day of coordinator–you will not regret it! This in and of itself will allow the biggest moments of the big day–perhaps your walk down the aisle or your grand exit as husband and wife at the end of the night–to remain peaceful, rather than trying to make sure the checklist gets taken care of while you’re actually trying to enjoy your wedding day. “As the bride, you should only be responsible for drafting your vision, and leave it to the expert (ie. Wedding planner) to help you bring that vision to life. They can typically do a better job than you can, and know what to focus on. They also have a lot of wedding vendors in their network, and can look for the right vendors to create your dream wedding,” says Wang.

Remember: the small moments are the big moments.

If you start to feel anxious about all the decisions that have to be made, it’s time to slow it down focus in on what’s important. You’ll have to let go of things you can’t control in order to make forward progress; in letting go of perfection, you actually open up the door to embrace what might otherwise pass you by! “It’s easy to sweat thing big things, but the details really make all the difference,” says Koller. It’s important to remember that the process of planning is just as significant and worthwhile as the big day itself, “Sometimes,” says Simpson, “it’s not worth the headache to fight for (or against) something that doesn’t truly matter to you at the end of the day, but it can be hard to remember that in the moment! If you are focused on details and making them all come together in a cohesive manner, then you need someone, preferably a professional, that you trust to bring that all together for you.” That third party can exist as a voice of reason, and also free you up to allow you to see the beauty of all those small, seemingly inconsequential decisions, and how they all fit together to create a beautiful moment in your life. Simpson elaborates: “I fully trusted that Anne-Claire understood and shared our vision, and so it was easy to let her roll with our wedding and make many of the choices for us. It made the entire process so much more enjoyable because I didn’t have to lose sleep wondering if I was making the correct choices. I knew she would, and she did.”

Keep the main thing, the main thing.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of planning, which can quickly divert your attention to the thing that matters most: you’re pledging your life to someone “for as long as you both shall live!” Your wedding should remind you of the “why,” so incorporate things that will make you smile and reflect on moments such as your first date, even if no one else understands them,” says Simpson.  “Getting married is the reason you’re planning the wedding in the first place! That’s why it is important to sneak a few moments into your timeline to let it sink in that you’re getting married!” That might mean opting for a first look for some one on one time before those inevitable pre-ceremony jitters–the rest of the day flies by so quickly–but it can also mean intentionally setting aside time during the planning process to reconnect. Koller did so during her engagement, embracing certain milestones along the way: “We’d open a special bottle of wine for being 1 year out, 6 months out, and 3 months out from the big day. We even went out on fun date nights after completing our registry and finishing our invites,” concludes Koller. Her advice to brides: Keep the bigger picture in mind through it all – you’re marrying your best friend at the end of the day!”

Inspired by Provence, This Is Officially Our Dream Summer Wedding Color Palette

Tired of scrolling through endless Pinterest feeds to find your dream summer wedding color palette? Well, look no further – it’s officially here!! Lovingly Yours Weddings and Savan Photography were inspired by the beauty of Provence, France for every detail of this shoot. Prepare to be swept away by their effortlessly elegant color palette in shades of white, mauve, and lavender and light blue *major heart flutters!* Bloom Theory Design brought their vision to life with lush, organic arrangements that perfectly captured the romantic french theme. See all the pretty at the full gallery!

From Savan PhotographyThe foundation of our shoot was inspired by Provence, France, and we wanted to invoke a feeling of an intimate Provencal wedding. The beautiful Lavender Marketplace and Workshop, a true gem located in Sierra Madre, was the perfect setting for our editorial, featuring a gorgeous garden and a beautiful conservatory that seems to have been transported direct from France.

We wanted to honor this beautiful venue and draw upon its organic and garden-like features. To start, our florals, courtesy of Charm of Bloom Theory Design, were wild and lush in nature, and adorned the venue with shades of greenery, white, mauve, and lavender. Our table scape started with a light blue soft linen, via Wild Flower Linen, and we had Bloom Theory Design’s florals cascade across the table.

Vintage dishes and flatware, Cherished Rentals’s etched crystal glassware, and Sweet Salvage Rental’s silver candlesticks accented the table and brought our French vibes to life. Owl Post Calligraphy created an invitation suite with ever-reaching vines that further complimented the organic nature of our shoot.

This venue also hosts a variety of art workshops and events so we thought it would be the perfect tie-in to feature original works from our male model, Joshua S. Pieker, who is a live wedding painter and created paintings specifically for this shoot! One of which, he painted on the spot once he saw his gorgeous bride dressed up in a cathedral lace robe with her beautiful hair and make up, done by the phenomenal Chantel with The Face of Beauty US.

5 Ways to Achieve Elevated Coastal Design in Your Home

There’s more than meets the eye with this chic coastal home. While it’s beautiful and inspiring all on its own, this tour also comes bearing a few gifts. First, from insanely talented photographer Alyssa Rosenheck, we have a few quick ideas for a Valentine’s Day celebration with effortless beachy vibes. Then interior designer Raquel Garcia is sharing 5 simple takeaways for bringing the elegance of the coast into your home. Now that is a fab Twofer if we ever saw one. Take the full tour right here!

From Alyssa Rosenheck…In every space I style, I strive to blur the lines between the outdoors and the inside. Our natural surroundings are so very important—they are the tone-setter for the energy of a space. Integrating lush greenery, flooding sunlight, natural woods and textiles, and open windows allow the outside environment to come to life indoors.

Wherever I’m working, coast to coast, from the Pacific Northwest to Austin to Connecticut, I ensure to put that city’s natural essence on display throughout a space. And there’s no setting more lovely, serene, and comfortable than the coast.

In a recent styling session with the talented coastal Connecticut-based designer Raquel Garcia, we brought the warm breeze, white sands, and subtle, laid-back elegance of the beach to the dining room for an fresh, airy take on a winter brunch. With stones and shells collected from the shore, natural wood serveware, and smooth white ceramics, you can easily pull together a Galentine’s Day fête that’s beautiful, but not in a way that’s trying too much.

I like to stick to white blooms like ranunculus or fresh tulip bulbs, a few small-scale topiaries, and fuzzy greenery for added texture. The more natural and unfussy the flower arrangements, the better! For more ways to translate the crisp, coastal aesthetic into your own home, read on for Raquel’s top five tips for inviting those beachy, breezy vibes inside all year long. I’m already kicking off my shoes!

From Raquel Garcia…As a child raised by Cuban parents, I have a visceral connection to the sun, sand and sea. My visual sensibilities were shaped at an early age by the Latin American art in gilded frames, Fortuny fabrics and the antique objects displayed throughout my childhood home.

As a designer I always find myself connecting these two notions as part of my creative process. The inspiration of an island I’ve never visited and the elevated design that surrounded me growing up meet beautifully. With their graceful subtleties, I always try to strike a balance. Organic beauty evoking peacefulness and calm is my main goal.

Mixing the two is what I describe as elevated coastal design. I strive to create something beautiful but also warm and welcoming no matter what the occasion. Spaces should be just that—welcoming, and always. As I design spaces that reflect elements of the shore, my creative choices naturally blend to form a functional, comfortable place that is both striking and laid back at once.

There’s no time for a home to feel fussy; rather, contemporary design trends allow for you to live your best life right now, in the current moment and full of love. Relish in that luxury! And to help you create your perfect space for exactly that, here are my 5 ways of bringing elevated coastal design into your home.

Color palette
On the beach, gazing into an expansive horizon with luminous light and endless ocean is what drives my color palette. The magnetic pull is something I want to be surrounded by in my everyday life. I achieve this through picking a palette in which I can play with intensity through hues.

Instead of picking a specific color per room, I will pick 3-5 for an entire house. I then custom mix the hue so there is connection throughout depending on where the light hits the brightest during the day.

Texture
When I think of texture, I think of the sand. I naturally gravitate towards fabrics that have a natural hand to them. Alpaca, Belgian linens, cashmere and the softest leathers.

This allows me to play and mix without any one standing out. They all work harmoniously together creating their own rhythm whether it’s the curtain, seat cushion or sofa. Mix it up!

Floors and ceilings
They are one in the same to me, just as the horizon meets the water. I love walking barefoot and feeling soft clean floors without lacquer. You can use water based stains and mix the colors to achieve a natural look rather than something out of a bottle.

The ceiling is never a white white. I usually have a touch of pink in my ceiling paint. It always bounces back a luminous color… Don’t forget these two tips!

Natural Stone
Natural Stones are my sea shells. They’re perfectly imperfect… meaning a stone is never too precious if there’s a water mark. It’s natural and made by the earth. I love natural stones for this reason versus a granite or a man made stone with no character. It’s okay if it’s not perfect!

Mixing metals and finishes
Think: brass, lucite, polished nickel… Together, they create the mix that wears well with time and really makes it your own.

What better way to incorporate all these patinas as the new neutrals? There’s nothing worse than looking back on a project and seeing what was on trend. Mixing metals is a classic way of being confident in your choices so that they’re timeless.

You Won’t Believe This Lake Como Celebration Is an Actual Real Wedding…

An intimate wedding on a sun-soaked day in Lake Como with a classic color palette and the floral arbor of our SMP dreams… yup, that about sums up today’s gorgeous Italian nuptials planned by Happy Moments Collector. There’s nothing better than celebrating your special day surrounded by just a few of your nearest and dearest in the most romantic destination in the world. From the cascading table runner to the surprise performance from the bride for her groom – don’t miss a moment at the full gallery of images captured beautifully by The Cablook Fotolab!

From the bride… Italy was always very special for us — our very first trip together was on Lake Como, my husband made the proposal on top of the Duomo di Milano, we love this country to the bottom of our hearts — so there was no other plan than to celebrate our wedding in Italy, and especially on Lake Como. Our beautiful girls from Happy Moments Collector agency helped us to find the ideal site — Villa Regina Teodolinda — it absolutely matched our vision of a very intimate wedding.

We wanted all the decorations/florals etc. to be classic so as after years looking at our wedding photos it will still look great. We wanted all our not so numerous guests to sit at one table and as for the florals on it — we wanted it to be a “flower path” (and not that typical high compositions in vases) — so as we all can communicate at ease without any obstacles and see each other well. Even though the color scheme was classy and traditional — pastel pink, white, a lot of greenery — we added touches of navy (which is groom’s favorite color) and blue (which is bride’s favorite color) such as eryngium and navy blue agate stones as seating cards.

From the Planners… Remembering that special day we prepared for this beautiful couple, leaves warmth inside our hearts. Olga (the bride) was from the very beginning very precise with the details and wanted that day to be filled with emotions not only for her and her beloved one, but also for all of the guests. During the preparation period we became more like a family and were on the same page with the couple in terms of styling and the concept on the whole.

On the first day we had a boat tour for the couple to shoot a love story, after which was family gathering – pizza party in truly Italian style. On the day of the wedding we were having Italian band and the bride performed as a present for family and the groom song by Elton John. It was really touching moment. Cut of the cake was unique – couple decided to follow the Italian tradition and prepare the Millefoglie cake, as a symbol of the first thing made as married couple, together with the chef in front of the guests. Everyone was amazed and this gave to the event even more romance.

A Behind the Scenes Look Into an Intimate Wedding Photography Workshop

We often feature the resulting beauty of wedding workshops, but today we’re getting a beautiful behind the scenes look of one—Le Collectif, crafted by Amanda K PhotographyMaria Lamb and Kaleb Norman James Design. Set at the sprawling Kestrel Park, this vendor dream team took in 13 amazing attendees for three days of learning and creativity. Feast your eyes on the beauty below!

From Kaleb Norman James Design… I remember getting a call from Amanda asking if I wanted to do a workshop together. Initially I thought she meant designing her workshop and I was flattered – when I immediately responded with a resounding yes, I think she knew I didn’t quite get it. When she explained further that she wanted us to co-host photography & design workshop, simultaneously, my answer wasn’t quite as resounding! But if you’ve ever met Amanda, she’s one of the sweetest on the planet, so couldn’t say no! Plus, she had the brilliant idea of bringing Maria along with us, so how could I not?

The idea behind Le Collectif was to bring photographers and designers together in a beautiful setting, where we could all learn with each other, grow creatively and be challenged to think outside the box while having the support and encouragement of likeminded creatives all around. 13 attendees came together from around the world to the beautiful rolling hills Santa Ynez and over 3 days, we shared our stories, our techniques & methods, our ideas and more than anything else, our hearts in a way that was meant to inspire!

We had a series of classes taught by the 3 of us together, along with the Summer Watkins, creator of The Mrs Box, as well as track-specific classes and 1:1’s with each hosts. The classes culminated in 3 styled shoots where design attendees got to choose a theme and create a tablescape from the ground up- from the linens, to the china, the centerpiece to the chairs. All tables, bouquets & details were created by the design attendees, then shot by the photography attendees under the direction of Amanda, Maria & myself. Seeing 13 strangers come together the first night was so exciting, but seeing these same 13 all leave as friends and future co-vendors of one another was more rewarding than anything!

Two World Travelers Wed in a Thailand Ceremony Overflowing With Hundreds of White Orchids

If orchids are your favorite bloom, then this wedding is about to be your latest obsession. Having traveled the world together, it only make sense that Jennifer and Neil would tie the knot in an exotic, can’t-be-beat destination! Thailand was their perfect place and The Wedding Bliss Thailand was their wedding planning wizard . They exchanged vows under a floating canopy of white orchids arranged by IAMFLOWER and danced the night away surrounded by strings of romantic fairy lights. Every moment was captured flawlessly by Blush Wedding Photography – live vicariously through this dreamy day at the full gallery!

From The Wedding Bliss ThailandJennifer and Neil, two adventurous souls with a joined love for travel knew that their wedding had to be special.

Living in Vancouver, Canada, the couple got engaged in Indonesia and thought it symbolic to then tie the knot in South-East Asia as well, finally deciding on Thailand, the country of warmest hospitality, delicious food and most gorgeous of views.

With the theme of Classic Romance, the wedding was set in a private villa facing Phuket’s west coast with amazing views of the ocean. The wedding design used soft nudes, almond, and white tones, creating a grand, yet welcoming atmosphere for the guests.

Combining reference to classical art and modern geometrical minimalism, The Wedding Bliss Thailand designed their wedding arch using transparent acrylic structure and white flower blooms. By adding golden elements the design gained more elevated and classical look, but soft fabrics like champagne silk never allowed it to get too stiff.

This Alexandra Grecco Dress Made Us Double-Take

When Natalie Choi Events and Stephanie Gan Photography set out to craft a spring-meets-Japanese-minimalism inspirational shoot, they aimed for a refined, garden-style elegance. And ohhh, is that combo stunning beyond words. While I don’t typically find myself swooning over ‘the dress’, today’s Alexandra Grecco number that they paired with the whole look is airy, lovely and just. so. perfect. for this vibe. Would you wear this beauty or go for this look on your own big day?

From Natalie of Natalie Choi EventsInspired by the minimalist traditional meets modern architectural style of many tea houses and cafes in Japan, Stephanie and I brainstormed a shoot that would reflects the understated elegance of that meeting. Tea houses in Japan are often characterized by a common space that is garden-facing, drawing attention to nature and blurring the boundary between garden and table. Similarly, we wanted to create a space where nature interposed the structures of our design while still maintaining a simplistic, refined aesthetic.

We chose the lush grounds of Villa Montalvo as our setting, drawn to the gorgeous historical structures surrounded by blooming vines and lush, green gardens. The black, iron gates leading into the garden were softened with an array of white blooms to soften the beams and create a magical entrance leading to the table. To celebrate the bounty of spring, our florist Laura chose all of the most delicate, whimsical blooms for the bridal bouquet and ikebana-inspired centerpieces for the table. Simple, handmade pottery pieces made in Japan were selected for the table setting, finished off with luxe touches of a gold-rimmed glass and rich velvet table linen. Wooden textures in the flatware and wishbone chairs were incorporated to infuse an organic, grounded element into our tablescape. Inky elements woven throughout the invitation suite, table, and cake provided a masculine contrast to the airy elements and neutral color palette.

We styled our couple to tell the story of two young newlyweds, happy and relaxed on their wedding day – soaking in the serenity of being surrounded by the beautiful gardens as they celebrate their love. With natural makeup and flowing hair, our bride wore a gown by Alexandra Grecco that featured delicate floral applique, a strappy open back, and a train so delicate it almost floated as our model moved. Our dapper groom suited up in a sleek black tux, and together they created the sweetest couple.
