How To Host The Ultimate Bridesmaid Dress Fitting For Your Girls (8 Easy Tips!)

Your bridesmaids are your shoulder to cry on and your cheerleaders throughout the entirety of wedding planning. Although it’s absolutely a privilege to be someone’s bridesmaid – it’s not always the easiest job, so it’s super important to express how much you appreciate and adore each and every one of your girls for standing by your side.

Hosting the ultimate bridesmaid dress fitting is a perfect way to show how thankful you are for their constant support! Grace Lee, founder & CEO of Birdy Grey, is here to share her best tips on hosting a bridesmaid dress fitting your girls will never forget. As you’re learning all about the best ways to shower your girls with love, get inspired by the gorgeous images of influencer, Melanee Shale’s bridesmaid dress fitting captured beautifully by her fiancé, Raphe Wolfgang Photography! You may even recognize a couple of her gorgeous ‘maids – fellow influencers Elizabeth Keene and Crystal Kong!

8 Tips for Hosting the Ultimate Bridesmaid Dress Fitting

1. Pick a date at least 3 – 4 months before the wedding, after you’ve finalized your wedding gown, so that you have a clear vision of bridesmaid dresses that will complement (not compete with) your gown.

2. If your bridesmaids live around the country (as most do), piggyback the fitting date around another event, such as your bridal shower, bachelorette party or a holiday, so that everyone can attend.

3. Choose a color palette before the fitting, and give the girls guidelines on the look you’re envisioning. (For example, if you’re going for a soft, romantic vibe, ask the girls to stick to chiffon styles, which generally look more floaty. Are you doing a winter wedding? Have them opt for darker, moodier shades.) Once you’ve set some ground rules, let your bridesmaids choose a silhouette they love most and flatters their body type. At Birdy Grey, every single bridesmaid dress is under $100 and ready to ship ASAP. We offer 15 versatile styles in 10 of the season’s most-popular colors. All you have to do is pick the color palette, and let your girls choose a style they love—it’s as simple as that!

4. Have measuring tape handy to measure bust, waist and hips. Leave a little extra wiggle room so that the dress isn’t too snug. (It’s much easier to tailor down a dress, than vice versa.) Here’s a helpful measuring guide!

5. Dress up the space with pretty puffy florals, such as a mix of pampas, roses and ranunculus. Scatter in vases of varying heights to add dimension to the table.

6. Create a fun brunch bar with fresh bagels, mini donuts, cotton candy or anything that’s easy to eat (and won’t drip on the dresses). Display on cake stands to elevate the look.

7. Skip paper cups and serve up coffee or tea in vintage teacups—they’re way more fun!

8. A fitting party is the perfect time to give your girls their bridesmaid gift. (After all, gifting at the bridal shower or bachelorette might be awkward for other guests.) Treat them to a basket filled with fun swag, such as skincare from Peach & Lily, slippers by Birdies, beauty vitamins by HUM Nutrition and jewelry by Uncommon James.

Fun Facts about Melanee’s upcoming wedding!

• Getting married in Summer 2020 in Italy
• Husband-to-be Raphe (who photographed the shoot) proposed in Positano in 2018
• Bridesmaid palette is a mix of mauves
• Bridesmaids are Elizabeth Keene & Crystal, and maid-of-honor, sister Natalee

How Melanee met Elizabeth:

Elizabeth Keene: “We met 7 years ago. We were following each other on Instagram, so we were Instagram friends first. I was coming home from New York Fashion Week and I was getting on my flight, and Melanee was on the flight.”

Melanee: “She ended up sitting next to me, and we’ve been friends ever since! To quote Casablanca, I always say about Elizabeth, “Of all the flights in all of the world, she had to walk onto mine.”

How she met Crystal Kong:

Melanee: “We met 6 years ago while hosting a Poshmark event together, and bonded because we lived near each other. About a month later, there was a conference we were both attending, and Crystal texted me saying, “Hey, do you want to carpool?” And we’ve been friends ever since.”

Crystal: “We live near each other and we both love boba! We get boba together once a week.”

Green Chile Macaroni & Cheese

Jessica from A Happy Food Dance said it best when she wrote, “Nothing beats gooey, cheesy comfort food this time of year.” I mean, who doesn’t love mac & cheese? It may technically have been created with children in mind, but you never grow too old for this savory treat. And this Green Chile Macaroni & Cheese from Jessica is sure to please all ages!

From A Happy Food DanceThis green chile macaroni and cheese starts with elbow pasta (classic) and is topped with a bechamel sauce that has cheddar, fontina and greek yogurt mixed inside. To kick this mac and cheese up I’ve also added roasted anaheim chiles – it adds heat, a smokey flavor and a wonderful texture. And then this is all topped with a thyme and breadcrumb topping – such a perfect crunch.

After Their Venue Was Destroyed, They Started from Scratch – Resulting in the Most Elegant Affair to Remember!

After their original venue was destroyed, this couple (somehow) calmly contacted Laurie Arons Special Events to start their wedding planning journey all over again! With Laurie’s help, they put together an elegant event at Meadowood Napa Valley full of soft tones and sage green carried throughout the day from the invitation suite to the florals by Kathleen Deery Design! With a creative outdoor bar area to electric tent sides when the evening got chilly, this wedding truly was a sight to be seen and Aaron Delesie captured it all! Take a look below to see it all!

From Laurie Arons Special EventsThis incredible couple is special in so many ways. They came to me after their wedding venue was destroyed and they needed to start the planning process over again. They handled the situation with so much grace, compassion and perspective, and I quickly came to realize this is how they handle every situation! Jen has an elegance about her akin to Grace Kelley but is extremely fun and down-to-earth. She found the perfect partner in calm, kind and genuine Bijan.

We set out to plan an elegant affair in Napa Valley, that also felt very relaxed and authentic to the couple. It was important to Jen’s whole family that guests feel comfortable and taken care of without it feeling fussy.

Soft tones of whites, pale greens, and light taupes carried throughout the wedding day, from the stunning ceremony arch by Kathleen Deery Design to the natural tent shade by Hensley Event Resources. My favorite element of the tent were the electric shade panels we installed. These panels raised on cue for dramatic guest reveals and closed when the evening turned breezy. It has always been a dream of mine, and I love that Jen & Bij were excited about the idea.

After dinner, the party continued in the dance lounge to the music of Cowling Band…then kept on going with a late-night DJ party in the Vinters Room.

See How This Actress Bride and MLB Player Groom, Showed Their Wedding Guests All That Puerto Rico Has to Offer!

It is not every day you see the love of your life in a movie, think “I’m going to marry that girl,” and it actually happens! But, for this MLB player, the stars aligned and the Puerto Rican natives were married at the Antiguo Casino de Puerto Rico among their closest family and friends (including two furry friends!) From a stunning beaded, champagne bridal gown to a burgundy suit jacket and all of the fabulous florals, it is safe to say Yaska Crespo brought out all of the stops when it came to planning the details, including a 6-tier marble wedding cake crafted by Vanessa Caro Cakes. Branco Prata was there to capture all of the beauty the couple and Puerto Rico had to offer with unreal images and Robert Michael Films with a powerful and heartfelt video! Take a peek and fall in love right along with us!

From Robert Michael FilmsIt was 2015 when Los Angeles Dodgers’ Kiké Hernandez watched “Hot Tub Time Machine 2” while he had a little downtime. Actress Mariana Paola Vicente caught his eye, and when he later found out she was a Puerto Rican living in LA – just like him – he reached out to her on social media congratulating her on her performance. Their first date would take place two months later, and although it took six months for them to share their true feelings that their friendship was something more, Kiké said he knew the very moment he saw her that he would one day propose.

After their intimate proposal while on vacation in Big Sur, the wedding planning began with the first task being to find the perfect Puerto Rico location for their wedding. With many guests traveling from out of town and possibly to Puerto Rico for the first time, it was important for them to show their guests all they loved about the island: the ocean, history, and culture. Their wedding ceremony was hosted at Castillo San Cristóbal, a historic waterside fortress. And their reception was at Antiguo Casino de Puerto Rico, another historic gem on many photographer’s bucket lists.

After their intimate wedding ceremony that took place in a circular setting so that the guests could enjoy the surrounding views, the string trio had a fun surprise for Kiké. They played Drake’s “In My Feelings” and if you’re a Drake fan, you might know that a portion of the song asks, “Kiki, do you love me?”, a play on the groom’s nickname.

Their wedding reception was full of these personal little touches, traditional elements combined with modern touches and stunning details. The all-white ballroom was the perfect blank canvas for the decor to really shine. Lush floral arrangements and metallic details complimented the otherwise clean and minimalistic look of the venue. Their overall vision of modern romance was met time and time again. And the cherry on the cake was their favors made by the mother of the bride, a former internationally featured painter –  glicées of their ceremony venue.

The Perfect Example of How to Flip the Same Space for Your Ceremony and Reception like a Pro!

Today’s wedding at one of our favorite California venues, Rancho Las Lomas, is an instant mood-booster! Just one look at the cheerful floral arrangements from Beautiful Savage in bright yellow and green hues and you can’t help but smile. Klink Events had the entire day going off without a hitch while the bride and groom (and their adorable pup!) danced the night away to an epic playlist from Elevated Pulse Production. Ether & Smith Photography was there to capture every detail to perfection – see it all unfold at the full gallery!

From Ether & Smith… Cassie & Cory got ready at Cory’s parents’ beautiful home to ensure they got photos with their sweet dog, Charlie. Family photos adorned throughout the house, Charlie trotting around, and their family and closest friends around them, it was such a sentimental environment to get ready in! Their wedding had yellow, green, and white color palette, perfect against the al-fresco backdrop of Rancho Las Lomas. The bridesmaids wore a modern and flattering nude color dress with slits, pairing beautifully with the bride’s stunning dress. The groom and groomsmen wore sleek black tuxes. They said their vows under tall trees and lush greenery among friends and family that traveled far and near. The ceremony was efficiently flipped into the reception space. Tables were decorated with yellow, white, and green centerpieces. Macaroons on top of delicately placed eucalyptus were at each place setting. Overgrown eucalyptus cascaded their chairs with lush floral pieces framing their sweetheart table. Cocktail was above the reception area perched into the hills with a pool and more greenery, the perfect place to show off the venue’s unique architecture, history, and character! The night ended with the sweetest speeches, the happiest tears and smiles, and a lot of dancing under the starry night!

From the Bride… Cory and I spent our undergraduate studies together in the same extended group of friends but never actually met until post graduation while visiting a mutual friend in San Francisco. After a summer of courtship, 2 years of long distance, a stint on the east coast for our graduate degrees, and a relocation to Tokyo, we got engaged on a summer evening in Nakameguro with the company of my two sisters.

For our wedding, we really wanted to celebrate the friends and family that supported us throughout the 8 years of our relationship in a timeless and sophisticated style. Set in the beautiful Rancho Las Lomasvenue, the goal was to highlight the natural splendor of the location with natural greens, accented with pops of yellow, and sleek modern attire to match.

A major highlight was getting to bring all these people from the many different places we’ve lived together in celebration. With that said, for couples looking to plan a wedding from afar (or abroad in our instance!), really plan ahead and set time aside to interview and get to know the people you’re collaborating with. Determine what will be the most important aspects of your wedding and really invest in finding the right people that you would trust to achieve your goals. Many of our vendors were so helpful in helping us carry out our vision despite our physical absence.

Soft, Sun-Kissed & Fluttering Florals Will Have You Craving Warm Weather Again, Already!

As we get into the colder weather months, here on the East Coast, this inspiration shoot, planned and designed by Blush Events already has me daydreaming of warmer days! Taking place at Agecroft Hall in Richmond, VA with a ‘boss babe’ list of vendors, romance along with a bride frolicking through the gardens made up for this sun-kissed shoot, shot by Kim Stockwell Photography! With a simple tablescape crafted of pastel plates and soft, blush blooms by Wild Fleurette, every detail came together and has us thinking of those warmer months already! So, go ahead and take a look and hug that blanket a little tighter!

From Blush EventsEditorial shoots are what happens when we get to play with our favorite colleagues in this niche industry of Richmond, Virginia. Creating the eye candy of the season’s style layered with timeless details is so rewarding to communicate on brand. Working alongside our team of boss babe vendors, precisely conveying our vision to represent a snapshot of everything Blush Events.

Wild Fleurette brought an organic, soft, and fluttering floral vibe. This was essential. We used a combination of greens and delicate blooms, while also keeping a minimalist look. Make way for dogwood, butterfly ranunculus, lisianthus, and sweet pea bliss. We strive for the natural pallet, designing movement for flowers to speak for themselves, a look that’s effortlessly beautiful.

The Elizabethan Gardens are a symmetrical setting for a ceremony, of the 16th century Historic Tudor Estate, Agecroft Hall. The views, manicured landscape, charm of climbing ivy archways and stone balcony, radiate off our model. Making an intentional oasis in something already spectacular, was an enticing feat. The ceremony framed the estate’s unique exterior rich patterned paneling. Paisley & Jade’s Linden chairs blended with the aisle lined florals as if intentionally growing on either side of the rows. The cohesive flow of the invitation suite reflects the blue hues and soft grey of order and opulence!

The bridal style accomplished a natural and soft look for makeup, highlighting a sun-kissed glow. The dress inspiration needed to reflect ethereal and dreamy, bridal being minimal and delicate. The silk dress and lace bolero made two seamless looks, both complementing the bride and the grounds.

Fine Art photography was essential to capture the beauty of the venue and the decisive components that embellished the greenery backdrops for an ethereal glow. The breeze throughout the day created shadows off the flowers on the tables-cape. Kim Stockwell also shot in film which was a huge treat! The collection leans into the dancing rays capturing the ambiance for a warm blanketed look surrounding the shoot.

A Timeless, Western Editorial Complete with a Color Palette Rooted in the Beauty of Colorado – Yes, Please!

Dreaming of timeless wedding inspiration that perfectly encompasses the romance of the West? Look no further. Every inch of this editorial from RSVP Events is true to the style of the west, from the bride’s ring and embroidered bridal booties to the color palette in hues of lilac, dusty blue, buttery yellow, wheat, and walnut (yup, it’s just as stunning as it sounds.) Take a ride through the full gallery complete with running horses and organic western-inspired arrangements from Gradient & Hue – all taken by Carrie King!

From RSVP EventsFor this editorial, we wanted to bring together western ranch style and fine art design for the bride who loves all things timelessly beautiful and in love with the west.

The C Lazy U Ranch in Granby, Colorado sets the scene for a romantic wedding surrounded by the wildlife of the west. For a unique color palette rooted in the landscape of Colorado, we began with a Charles Marion Russell painting, A Mix Up. Hues of lilac, dusty blue, buttery yellow, wheat, and walnut are softened by hues of cream and bone. The painting lines the invitation envelope, with torn edges, walnut calligraphy, and aged paper creating the suite.

The bride’s first gown is an Alon Livne gown with a prairie lace bolero and windswept cascading tulle, inspired by the romance of the west. Her second gown by Alessandra Rinaudo is a billowy gown with large floral statement lace. Her turquoise and diamonds ring is classically west, and her booties are embroidered in blue.

Clematis, cosmos, yarrow, sage brush, smokebush, rudbekia, delphinium, and roses in toffee, honey dijon, and koko loko come together to create a floral story rich in color and true to the west.

The ceremony takes place at Woodsie Overlook, overlooking the Willow Creek Reservoir. The floral arbor is lush and romantic with a backdrop of the Rockies. At the reception, lush florals spill from patinaed silver vessels, and candles dot the table. The table is set with wood chargers reminiscent of saddles, antique silver goblets and flatware, and aged paper menus. The bartender serves the Boujuee Bootlegger: four year bourbon, Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth, Angostura bitters, and orange peel, served with homemade whiskey cherry, stamped ice, and gold flakes. At the end of the day when the jingle sounds, the horses are run to pasture for free grazing. Dust rises as two hundred horses run to pasture as the perfect end to this romantic, wild west adventure.

The Do’s and Don’ts for Cooking Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving is the biggest meal most of us ever have to cook and the prep work alone is enough to send anyone into stress mode. But with preparation and a few key to-do’s and absolutely do-not-do’s, turkey day will run a whole lot smoother. Dive in to our curated list for surviving Thanksgiving like a seasoned professional, a.k.a. your mom, plus one surprising tip most people forget…

DO | Remember to Defrost the Bird

This is a major one. Like maybe the biggest detail. Turkey is the center of the Thanksgiving universe and it takes a heck of a lot of time to defrost. Pull that puppy out way in advance so it’s ready for cooking day of.

DO | Check your supplies

You want to make sure you have all the necessary accouterments for pulling off the perfect Thanksgiving dinner. From pots and pans to tablecloths and drinkware, make sure you do an inventory check before the big day.

DO | Plan out your menu

If ever there was a day to actually plan out the entire menu, this would be the one. And knowing how many people are coming will help you determine the amount of food you’ll need to keep the crowd fed and happy.

DO | Keep it Simple

Though we’re all for a fancy new twist on tradition, if this is your first time at the rodeo, stick to the classics. They’re crowd-pleasers for a reason.

DO | Set the table a day ahead

It’s one less thing to worry about and will leave you more time for cooking up a storm. Plus, a pretty table is a major do in our books so this will leave you time to really craft the perfect feasting backdrop.

DO | Make your desserts the night before

A lot of desserts require either refrigerator or “setting” time. By making your desserts the night before, you free up both time and prep space for tomorrow’s cooking.

DO | Take a Deep Breath

Remember not to let prepping stress you out. Thanksgiving is meant to be spent with the ones you love. Take time to enjoy the day and sip a little wine while you’re at it. If you need a brain break, start to tidy up the kitchen. A little counter cleaning goes a long way!

DON’T | Forget to get ready ahead of time

Surprisingly, most newbies forget to build this into their thanksgiving timeline. Carve out a few hours for showering and prepping yourself for the smorgasbord ahead; preferably well before guests are set to arrive.

DON’T | Grocery shop last minute

The day before Thanksgiving can often be one of the busiest of the year for supermarkets. Don’t risk your grocery items selling out before you get a chance to purchase them.

DON’T | Forget you only have one oven

Try to choose recipes that don’t all have to be in the oven at the same time. Consider that cooking vessel prime real estate and plan accordingly. A cooking timeline works like a charm.

DON’T | Skip appetizers

Even though a Thanksgiving feast is often a very filling one, make sure to give guests the option of nibbling before the meal begins. Appetizers are a great way to stave off hungry individuals; especially if the food isn’t served quite on schedule.

DON’T | Blame the Turkey

You know that overwhelming urge to take a nice snooze after a go-round at the thanksgiving table? Well, it turns out, turkey’s not fully to blame. Sure it has good ol’ tryptophan but cheddar cheese has even more. The real culprit is a mix of carb overload and probably a little alcohol too…and yes, that dessert. Quick fix: Take a walk! Getting out in the fresh air and getting a little movement in works like a charm every time.

DON’T | Expect Perfection

No matter how the day turns out, don’t forget to enjoy with those you love! After all, you won’t remember the burnt stuffing dish as much as you’ll remember the laughs and good conversation with the fam.

DON’T | Forget about leftovers!

It’s easy to get lost in conversations and post-dinner walks — but don’t forget to put away your food after the meal! Clearing the table helps you not only to save food, but it makes the dishes easier to clean when they’re not laying around filled up for extended periods of time. Plus, it would be a true shame not to make that oh-so-mouthwatering next day turkey-sandwich!

This Monique Lhuillier Wedding Dress May Just Break The Internet!

A truly whimsical yet classing wedding day for this bride and groom with a lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier that might just break the internet with its beauty! Greer Gattuso photographed every angle of that dress (jaw drop) and all of the magic, that Elyse Jennings Weddings put together from soft seating to elaborate centerpieces, including stunning florals throughout by Bella Blooms! Add in a 5-tier cake by Zoe’s Bakery and all of the love you can feel for miles and miles and you have absolute perfection! Scroll away to have a look for yourself!

From Elyse Jennings Weddings… A timeless wedding full of high fashion! Krewe du Loupe was that wedding you’ll look back on in 20 years and still love every single detail! The one where the lace wedding dress breaks the internet! The one fit for a royal couple, but with the most down to earth, genuine and in love bride and groom. It was sheer perfection, oozing fashion and dripping in florals and candles!

Their Catholic wedding ceremony was in St. Mary’s Italian Church, which is connected to their wedding venue and made for an easy guest experience. After the wedding, the guests were greeted with cotton candy champagne and they entered the reception through a tunnel of greens and antique chandeliers! The reception tent at Ursuline Convent offers a blank canvas where every wedding can make the space their own. The Winter reception was timeless and light, blending wooden furniture and velvet linens, and classic clear candlelight everywhere.

Their florals added just the right touch of blush and green contrast to the white ceiling! We added soft seating as many places as the venue could support to add comfort for the near 300 guests. The design by Elyse Jennings Weddings was polished and formal, yet whimsical and romantic- the perfect setting to dance the night away to one of Nola’s best bands!

Olivia’s family is blessed with a ton of adorable cousins, nieces, and nephews! All of which stood in the wedding as junior bridesmaids, junior groomsmen, ring bearers and flower girls! Pretty Pie Crusts for a Gorgeous Thanksgiving Dinner

Dessert is generally my favorite course of any and every meal, and Thanksgiving dinner is no exception. In fact, if I could, I would only eat the pie. But these pies are almost too pretty to eat thanks to these pretty pie crusts from our resident geniuses, Abby and Jess. If you really want to impress your Thanksgiving guests this year, these creative crust ideas are definitely the way to go.

Blooming Apple Pie

You can create this pattern with any sliced fruit, we used apple. Fill your dish with a layer of pie dough and half your fruit filling in as smooth a layer as possible. Starting from the outside edge of the pie dish, layer in the remaining fruit slices in a swirl pattern, with each slice overlapping the one before it. Spiral in until you reach the center.

Cinnamon Bun Crust

We used this for pecan pie, but it would work well for almost any pie- apple, pumpkin, the list goes on and on! Roll out two layers of pie dough to have 2” of overhang once in the pie dish. Make a cinnamon sugar pie crust sandwich by spreading some melted butter and sprinkling a few tablespoons of cinnamon sugar in between the two layers of pie dough. Place in the pie dish and use kitchen scissors to trim the dough overhang into ½” wide fringe around the whole dish. Take two pieces of fringe and twist each away from each other, then fold down into the pie crust and press in place. Repeat until all the fringe is twisted and tucked back into the pie dish.

Scalloped Edge

Use a small cookie dough or ice cream scoop to cut out a scalloped edge from your pie crust, then use a chopstick to dot the center of each scallop. Gently place the dough in your pie dish and fill with pie filling (we did pumpkin).

Monogram

Simply use alphabet cookie cutters or a knife to cut out a letter initial from the center of the pie crust, then gently lay the crust over the pie.

Layered Flowers

Use a flower cookie cutter (we used this daisy one) to cut out flowers from thinly rolled out pie dough. Fill your dish with a layer of pie dough and filling (we did a cherry pie), then spread out flowers over your pie filling. For the flowers on the edge, just place the flower as best you can and gently cut along the pie dish to get it to fit perfectly. We then used the cookie cutter to cut out petals and used individual petals to line the rim of the pie crust- make sure to press them on with a bit of water.

Cinnamon Bun Pecan Pie Recipe

Working from home has its problems. For instance, when you are putting together a post as delicious as this one, it takes all the will power you can muster to not drop everything you are doing to try this recipe on for size. I’m speaking for a friend. I obviously have no will power issues (sarcasm). But the ladies tell me this pie is a breeze to whip up, and as we can all see it’s just beautiful with a capital B.

Our pie dish was deep so we made a lot of pie, but if you are making for a shallower dish, you can just cut all the filling ingredients in half!

Cinnamon Bun Pecan Pie Recipe
prep time
cook time
total time
Serves 0Ingredients
  • Pie dough (store bought or homemade): enough for 2 layers to fit a deep 9” pie dish with about 1-2” overhang
  • 6 tbs + 1 tbs melted butter
  • 2 tbs + 4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbs sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups dark corn syrup
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 6 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups toasted pecan halves
  • 1 cup cream cheese frosting (store bought or homemade)
Instructions
  1. Mix 2 tbs sugar and 2 tbs cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll out both layers of pie dough and brush one side of each layer with 1 tbs melted butter.
  2. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture on one dough round and spread around into a thin, even layer. Cover with the second layer of pie dough (butter side down). Place the cinnamon sugar pie dough into the pie dish.
  3. Use kitchen scissors to trim the dough overhang into ½” wide fringe around the whole pie dish. Take two pieces of fringe and twist each away from each other, then fold down into the pie crust and press in place. Repeat until all the fringe is twisted and tucked back into the pie dish.
  4. Place the pie dish in the refrigerator while you make the filling, and preheat the oven to 375°F.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the corn syrup and the brown sugar with a whisk until smooth. Mix in 3tbs of melted butter.
  6. Add 3 eggs, mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla, salt, and 2 tsp of cinnamon and whisk until well blended.
  7. Remove pie dish from the fridge and pour in 2 cups of pecans. Pour the filling mixture on top, then add the remaining 1 cup pecans by carefully arranging them in concentric circles on the top of the filling. Start from the outside rim and work your way in.
  8. Wrap the outside rim of the pie dish with tin foil to protect the crust. Bake for 35 minutes.
  9. Turn the oven down to 350°F, and remove the tin foil. Bake for another 25 minutes or until the pie is firm and not jiggling in the center. Turn the oven off and let the pie cool completely in the oven with the door cracked.
  10. Scoop cream cheese frosting into a piping bag with a large round tip. Pipe a zig zag of frosting on your cinnamon bun pecan pie and serve!

We Couldn’t Believe This Venue Wasn’t Actually in Santorini – They Found Greece in California!

We’re not kidding when we say we never would have known this wedding was anywhere but Santorini from just looking at the gorgeous gallery from Jessica Grazia Mangia. I mean… whitewashed buildings, a blue-domed church and traditional Greek elements in ever corner – all signs point to Greece, right?! WRONG. This gorgeous wedding was actually in Santa Barbara, California (yup, we couldn’t believe it either.) What’s even better than the location, you ask? That’s an easy one – THIS. COUPLE. The happiness and sheer love is beaming out of every picture. Imagine Weddings & Special Events made their Mediterranean inspired wedding dreams come true. Keep on reading for the inside scoop on this heavenly day from

From Jessica Griazia Mangia… Eleni and Costa are both of Greek origins, their families migrated to the US just a generation ago and they live their lives surrounded by their festive, colorful and rich traditions. When Costantino proposed to Eleni they both wanted to elope to Santorini but they quickly realized that pretty much all of their family members and friends, now live in California. With the fine art curation of Rebecca owner of Imagine Weddings in Santa Barbara, they created a whole Mediterranean experience for their guests and themselves with a ceremony at the beyond stunning Orthodox Greek Church nested on the Santa Barbara Hills, and a festive reception at The Biltmore Four Seasons in Santa Barbara. Every little detail was customized to bring a unique experience to life: from the invitations, that the bride personally created, to the “bomboniere” (in Greek: favors) filled with chocolate “confetti” (in Greek “sugared almonds”). The Biltmore Four Seasons resort was the perfect scenario for the Mediterannean vibe of the celebration, and the sunset photos remind entirely of the gorgeous coastal photographs that you can find when looking to book a romantic vacation in Greece.

From the bride… The Bride, Eleni, was born and raised on the East Coast in Northern Virginia. The Groom, Costadenos, who often goes by Costa, was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Eleni grew up with rolling green hills in her hometown, and Costa had the golden coast in his backyard. Eleni lived in Greece for one year while in Elementary school, and Costa had Greek speaking parents, both were raised admiring their heritage and cultural values. It was important to them that their wedding portrayed who they’re as individuals, and how their love and friendship unified so much of their life’s passions. Costa proposed to Eleni while on vacation in Santorini, Greece a year prior and while on their trip and engagement of a lifetime, they knew for certain they wanted their Wedding Ceremony to be inside the Greek Orthodox Church. They were both baptized Greek Orthodox, and felt this to be a pretty easy decision. They wanted their ceremony to feel quaint and intimate, and they knew just the place. Santa Barbara was not only the area Costa courted Eleni during their dating years, but it very quickly became ‘their place”, it also turns out to have one of the most beautiful Greek Churches they’ve ever seen. Saint Santa Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, sits nested on top of a heel overlooking the Pacific Coast, and the inside the church displays gold mosaics icons of saints, it’s quaint, authentic, beautifully spiritual and has one of the kindest Priests and members they’ve ever met. Their Wedding Ceremony location was an easy choice and one that they’re forever grateful.

They knew they wanted their Wedding Reception to be by the water, and have a Mediterranean feel. They found their perfect location at the Resort Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara and after viewing the “La Pacifica” floor plan, they new this was going to be their wedding reception location: on top of the water, overlooking rocky cliffs, on a terrace on the pacific waters with lights strung under the nights sky. When it came to the photographer, we knew we had to have the best. Who was going to get our vision, execute and deliver. After the bride reached out to photographers that were referred, she decided to do her own research and is so happy she did because that’s when she had an hour long phone call with the extremely talented, high end magazine worthy, fun-loving personality, wedding destination photographer, Jessica Griazia Mangia. Her work was not only flawless, but you could feel the love through her portfolio. Each photograph spoke a thousand words, and effortlessly. Not only is she fantastic to work with, she asks the right questions, dives deep into understanding exactly what it is that you want, feels your style and makes your vision a reality! We love you Jessica and cannot wait to use your services again soon!! The bride knew she wanted a beautiful yet versatile Wedding Gown. One that was appropriate for the Church, and felt freeing by the ocean. She purchased her gown from, The Dress Bridal, in Santa Barbara, CA, and the Australian Designer was, Made with love She worked closely with the boutique owner, Jayna, to customize pieces of her wedding gown. The bride is a Fashion beauty blogger and is passionate about fashion, fabrics and putting her own twist on things making it her own. She added an overskirt and vail made by the designer, Made with love, and this is the look she wore for the Wedding Ceremony in the Church. Jayna ordered extra application from the Designer, and the Bride and Jayna worked together to add the lace application to the back of the vail, strategically placing the material in the desired areas creating a elegant look that would tie in the front of the dress on the back of her extra long veil.

The bride wanted to leave the overskirt open a bit in the front, rather than fully enclosing the wedding gown underneath, this way there would be a compliment of textures and colors as she walked down the aisle. It truly created the most subtle drama, it was perfect. Later, at the Reception at the Four Seasons, the bride took off the vail and overskirt, the Dress become smaller, more fitting, and now Eleni could show off her curves on the dance floor. The intricacies of the beautiful designers plunge neckline and deep-V’s underneath the armpit, was the perfect gown stylistically for a dual location. The bride wanted all of her ladies in white, just like her. The bridesmaids dresses were from, Sabo Skirt, an Australian Designer The Bride has been following for years now. The Bride provided 4 styles for her bridesmaids to choose from, understanding everyone is built differently she wanted her girl squad to feel their most beautiful self on this special day. The meaning of friendship to this bride is unity, standing together in unison, and everyone feeling loved, great and happy.

There were 11 Groomsman, and they all kept it classy with black bow ties and black tuxedos. The Groom treated each of his fellas to their tux, and rented them from The Black Tux. The were all so handsome, and nailed the classic look while all putting on their dancing shoes for the reception. The Brides mother and the bride wanted to treat all 12 of the Bridesmaids to their hair and makeup, so that’s just what they did. The bride wanted all her gals to feel gorgeous and their very best, so she suggested they each have their hair and make up done just how they wish and prefer. Her only recommendation, keep it classy and have fun! Thank you, Team Hair and Makeup for doing 20 gals makeup that morning, they came ready! The Bride liked the idea of keeping the overall colors soft romantic, classy, and with a southern feel. There were Creams, blush pinks and light blue florals with a touch of violent and burst of fall brights inside the ballroom. There was a lot of greenery, red hydrangeas, blue tweedia, thistle, quicksand roses, garden roses dahlias and many more textured blooms. Various foliage were mixed throughout. The entire design was accented with candles.. Thank you to my florist, Precious and Blooming, her floral designs were elegant and captivating. The ambiance was largely due in part to the floral settings and candles places all around the venue.

Inside the ballroom there were pin pushed cram sofas, and cane back chairs, rectangular Tuscan wooden tables and a mix of accent pieces complimenting the floral (gold, silver, mercury glass, etc). Thanks to the incredible vendors, Town and Country.

The Ballroom was draped in a stunning champagne and the lighting inside and outside was impeccable. The dance floor showed off the Brides new last name, and the lighting really showed off all the magic making the smallest details appear larger than life. Thank you Bella Vista. La Tavola Fine Linen, thank you for setting the tables perfectly. Talk about making a vision come to life. The couple decided on Cream Velvet Linens for all their round tables, a mauve velvet napkin. On all the rectangular wooden tables, they wanted the wood exposed and used a cream linen napkin for this table setting. Classy and stunning all pulled together. Thank you MTB Event rentals for the perfect Cream Lace chargers and Blush Pink dinner plates. This brought the look of the table to life, sometimes the smallest details speak the loudest and are the final touch to pull your overall look together.

Music was important to the Bride and Groom, they wanted to dance all night with their friends and family. After hearing the audition of  Downbeat LA, it was a done deal. They decided to go with a ‘Live DJ’, this meant they had a DJ, a saxophonist (their favorite) and a percussionist. The trio are extremely professional, polished and pump up the guests like no wedding they’ve ever seen! They get into the crowd and interact with the guests, the live music/ DJ combo was out of this world amazing!

Thank you to the Month of Coordinator for helping the Bride and Groom find a videographer last minute. Imagine Weddings SB, Rebecca, knows the Four Seasons layout well and local vendors well. Thank you for working with all the vendors. Indulge By Mersene, made the most creative Wedding Favors. She customizes and shops everywhere, she has a creative eye, her background is textile design and she gets everything style.

A Cheery Fall “Grazing-Food” Party

Inside a little blue cottage surrounded by lush gardens and golden light, this girl gang got together to host a beautiful fall soiree. Using the season and their surroundings for inspiration, they whipped up Spiced Honey Pear Margaritas, a delicious spread of homegrown “grazing food,” and topped the whole scene all off with personalized details. Take a look, take notes and take in all of the inspiration for your upcoming holiday festivities!

Dripping with ivory pumpkins, foraged florals, and autumn-inspired foods we gathered for an inspired luncheon with good friends. Laughter filled the cozy cottage as we worked together to create a grazing table of goodness of homemade foods.

We took our favorite wooden crate to our local florist and asked them to create a “foraged” looking centerpiece for the table. We also shopped small vendors on Etsy for aprons, leather name tags, and ribbon. We then purchased dusty blue tea towels which served as our napkins.

For the beverage, we opted to hire Roam the Bar to create a custom cocktail for us and then shared the recipe with our guests.

Spiced Honey Pear Margarita

+ 1. 5 oz cinnamon infused Golden Tequila (1 cinnamon stick to 1 750 ML bottle of Tequila. Infused for 24 hours and beyond)
+ 1 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice
+ 2 oz Hone simple syrup (liquify Hone into hot water)
+ 5 oz + fresh pear juice
+ shaken & served over ice

Giddy-Up! This Is the Perfect Recipe for an Epic Western Wedding Weekend

From a welcome party with panoramic mountain views to a rehearsal dinner in a western store complete with cowboy hats galore to a romantic, rustic wedding day… this weekend is the definition of Western wedding perfection! Bluebird Productions brought the couple’s dream to life, giving every wedding guest the ultimate Aspen experience. Bare Root Flora adorned the day in lush blooms that perfectly complimented the naturally beautiful surroundings of the venue. Luckily, Rebecca Yale was there to capture every can’t miss moment  – head to the full gallery for all the wild, wild western wedding inspo!

From Rebecca Yale PhotographyRachael and Ben hosted an incredible wedding weekend over Labor Day for their friends and families in Aspen all planned and designed by the incredible Blue Bird Productions, who “ managed everything seamlessly and allowed for us to enjoy every moment” according to the couple. “We really wanted our weekend to give our guests the complete Aspen experience. We had all of our guests take the gondola up to the top of the mountain for a welcome lunch with panoramic mountain views and then later that afternoon we had everyone join us at the iconic western store Kemo Sabe for drinks and pictures with horses and cowboy hats. It was an epic way to start the weekend and we hadn’t even gotten to the wedding day!” said Rachel and Ben. They were married on Sunday the 1st at Aspen Meadows in a beautiful field with the gorgeous Colorado Mountains setting the scene.

Ben and Rachael said, “We’re both from Colorado and love the mountains, but there was even deeper meaning in selecting Aspen. Rachael’s parents’ courtship started there and it has been a very special place for her family. Through so many experiences – from camping and hiking to skiing to seeing concerts together, it quickly became a special place for us and was the perfect place to get married. The Aspen Meadows campus is stunning and provided one of the most beautiful settings we could have in an outdoor wedding.”

Bluebird and Barefoot Flora embraced a colorful palette with bright florals woven throughout the day- in the ceremony flowers, wedding party flowers and throughout the reception. “We wanted to create an environment that was joyous, loving and whimsical” said Rachael. “Rachael loves bright colors and flowers and we tried to bring in touches that represented our relationship – like having his and hers classic bikes decked out with flowers and a picnic basket” said Ben. The bride and groom chose Anderson Park at Aspen Meadows, saying “the setting and backdrop speak for themselves, so we were able to keep it simple and natural – including a chuppah made of Aspen trees and in-season florals.” The ceremony felt intimate and deeply personalized, with hardly a dry eye in the house. The groom says one of his favorite moments of the day was when “on what was an incredibly sunny and hot day, right as the ceremony began, a cloud came in to provide us and all of our guests shade. It felt like the people who weren’t with us on that day were there with us in spirit, protecting us and smiling down on our marriage.”

For the reception, they wanted a more romantic vibe with candles, flowers, farm tables, and twinkle lights. “Robin at Barefoot Flora did a masterful job of helping us accomplish this – from the flower and votive-filled escort wall, to the tasteful table settings and lighting; it was magical. Rustic farm tables and rounds with cream tablecloths created an inviting scene for the guests decorated with soft silk runners and bright florals mixed with tall white candlesticks and a beautiful installation of draped silk and greenery with florals hung above it all. Guests enjoyed their two signature drinks at cocktail hour before making their way inside to dance the night away in an epic party that did not stop till the bride and groom made their grand exit through a row of sparklers. “As the day transitioned to night, we wanted to have a great party filled with terrific music and lots of dancing” said the couple. Both Ben and Rachael named reception moments as one of their highlights, Rachael’s being her dance with her dad, which she said was very special and one of Ben’s favorite memories of the day was the packed dance floor later in the evening, Ben said “everyone brought the heat. If you want to keep the dance floor hopping pass out LED flower crowns! Such a hit! Thank you Bluebird Production for the suggestion.”

Ben and Rachael shared some advice to future couples planning their wedding day. “We can’t emphasize enough how important it was to have a wedding planner, and an amazing wedding planner at that. Bluebird Productions provided guidance and support throughout the entire planning process which ensured we had every detail nailed. As far as photographers go, we highly recommend doing an engagement shoot with your photographer before the wedding to get to know each other and to get comfortable in front of the camera.

We did engagement photos with our photographer Rebecca Yale and we could see right away how she captured our love and relationship so beautifully. When it was time for the wedding we were “camera ready” because Rebecca had established that care, ease and comfort. It shows in our beyond stunning photographs. In general, we would recommend that you look through vendor’s websites and instagrams first to get a feel for their style, but then to spend some time really getting to know them over the phone or in person to make sure they were aligned with your vision and match your needs. Get clear on the environment you want to create for yourselves and your guests, articulate your vision to your vendors, trust in their expertise and everything will come together beautifully day of. Allow yourself to take it all in – the decor, the surroundings, the people, and most importantly your future spouse. Oh and don’t check the weather, that is something you can’t control, but do have a back up plan!”

A British Countryside Wedding Full of Joy, Spirit and Energy!

Saying I Do in the British Countryside sounds absolutely magical to me and once you see these photos by Julie Michaelsen Photography, you will think so too! Bride and Groom tied the knot at The Manor House, which was covered in elegant ivory florals by Jill Jeffries and along with Planned for Perfection was the picture-perfect backdrop for all of the fun and energy to be had! From dancing the night away with The Function Band to a special appearance by the brides’ cousin, you could feel ALL of the love throughout their special day!

From Julie Michaelsen PhotographyALL weddings are special but this wedding was one with so much energy, spirit, and joy, as well as a lot going on in terms of the day itself! The wedding of Olivia and David took place in the quintessentially British countryside of The Cotswolds, and to say it was eventful is an understatement!

From The Function Band who literally got every single guest dancing throughout the courses of the meal, on the tables, long into the evening, to the brides’ cousin who serenaded the couple with a rendition of ‘Kiss From A Rose’ as a surprise, to the grooms’ grandmother who lead everyone in grace before the meal, not forgetting the incredible gospel choir (which the bride herself actually sings in) performing throughout the ceremony. The couple added in elements of their heritage with Caribbean signature cocktails & a steel band to welcome guests at the Friday welcome dinner. From the glitter bar to the perfect executed choreographed first dance and not to forget the heartwarming father-daughter dance! Although rain threatened to turn this day into a very different wedding day we were rewarded by glorious sunshine just in time for our sunset photos.

About Julie Michaelsen PhotographyI am a fine art wedding photographer based in London but covering Europe as well as the UK. I create timeless, heartfelt and elegant imagery of some of the most important and life-defining hours of my client’s lives. I aim to not only chronicle chapters and milestones but capturing subtler moments of joy, the meting of eyes, delirious laughter catching like wildfire. I love bearing witness to these moments because family, relationships and connections are so important to me and the why of my business. With Danish & German heritage, it’s part of the culture I was born into and informs my approach to most things in life as well as my business.
I love bearing witness to the excitement and the joy of a bride during her preparation before the ceremony. I love it when weddings bring out the very best of my couples. I love it when couples get lost in each others embrace during the couple photoshoot

I love it when I see the parents of the bridal couple touched with emotion, overcome with pride & joy during the ceremony. They are often positioned so that I can see them through the gap between the bride and groom and it’s one of my favorite moments to capture. That single tear rolling down the mother of the bride’s cheek, which the bride will not notice until she sees the photos. I love listening to the stories which surface during the speeches, from the touching childhood stories of the bride from her father, the cheeky and often hilarious regalement of the grooms’ younger antics by his best man/men. I love the look of the bride when her father stands to make his father of the bride’s speech and she looks at him in a tender moment when his voice wavers.

8 Pie Crusts to Wow Your Guests

Sundays are made for baking. For taking that time that you might not have during the crazy week to find your ahhh in your kitchen, hands deep into butter and flour and sugar. Well, with Thanksgiving Day merely days away, we thought we’d share a few fun toppers to inspire your lazy Sunday pie making. Whether you tackle one or two, or craft the whole shebang for your Thanksgiving table showstopper, remember that pie is never about perfection. It’s about deliciously flaky pastry perfection built to house that ooozy boozy goodness tucked inside. So have some fun with these toppers..and send us a pic of the ones that turn out the best! And don’t forget to check out our entire Thanksgiving Guide (made crazy easy…and beautiful!)

Fancy your pie crust to match your decor? Look no further than this chevron pie topper. It’s sure to draw oohs and ahhs from the crowd! Plus, it’s nothing more than a zig zag approach with a sharp knife so there is no fancy pants skills involved.

Reminiscent of the blinding reflection given off a big diamond, this easy starbust pie topper is for the glamorous gourmet. We think that it’s perfect for a cherry or jewel toned pie because you get a tiny pop of fabulous color with this topper.

Our traditional plaid pie topper is the cook who craves a bit of nostalgia (or the first prize ribbon at a pie contest!). It’s the over/under technique that you’ve seen before on a classic pie, but we’ve modernized it a bit with uneven strips and sweet miniature pots. I love these set on top of each placesetting with ice cream served table side.

Our fan pie topper will make any pie taste even better. Because it just feels couture. Like someone very chic was whipping up baked goodness with the same sense of fabulous that she does everything else. Best of all, it couldn’t be simpler to create!

Swiss Dot pie toppers will make your dessert appear even fuller and richer than it already is.  It’s sweet, and textured and just plain lovely. Plus, it’s a great starter topper for the beginner because it’s so dang simple.

If you really want to impress your friends, opt for a word pie topper. While the “Love” topper is adorable, we think calling out the name of the pie (for example, an apple pie would have an “Apple” word topper) is a great alternative. Believe it or not, resident pie genius Jess, crafted this without any font assistance. But we would never dare. Try Carolyna for a pretty, scripty font that is weighty enough to make for a great topper.

The Herringbone pie topper alludes to your grandfather’s favorite fall jacket. We think that this might look best on a simple winter berry pie and served in a classic white pie dish. It’s pie beauty defined.

If you’d like to add a bit of feminine flair to your dessert, may we suggest our Ruffled pie topper? It brings to mind the delicious details of a gorgeous wedding dress (um, hello rustic chic brides…we’re talking to you!) with layers and layers of simple folded “ruffles.”

Now that you’ve reviewed some stunning things to do with pie crust, here’s how you can make it! This is a really traditional pie crust but we’ve found that the simpler, the better when it comes to fruit filled goodness. And well, anything inspired by the Barefoot Contessa is worth saving in our book.

Ingredients

1 1/2 stick of cold, unsalted butter
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1/3 cup cold vegetable shortening
1/2 cup ice water

Directions

Dice the butter, returning to the refridgerator when you prepare the flour mixture.

Place the flour, salt, and sugar in the bowl of a food processor or blender and pulse a few times to mix. Add the butter and vegetable shortening. Pulse until the butter is about the size of peas. With the machine running, pour the ice water into the mix and pulse the machine until the dough begins to form a ball. Dump out onto a floured board and roll into a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Cut the dough in half. Roll each piece on a well-floured board into a circle, rolling from the center to the edge, turning and flouring the dough to make sure it doesn’t stick to the board. Fold the dough in half and place in a pie pan, unfolding to fit the pan. Repeat with top crust.

Rustic Wooden Beams, Natural Rocks and Bistro Lighting – This Is No Ordinary Wedding Tent.

From beginning to end, this gorgeous Tennessee wedding planned by Jessi Hoffman screams rustic chic. It’s filled with so many unique details that are sure to inspire – from the color palette inspired by bosc pears and changing leaves to the adorable wooden bar decorated in lanterns and lush blooms by Aunt Willie’s Wildflowers. The bride STUNNED in her romantic Justin Alexander beaded wedding dress as she danced the night away with her handsome groom under a natural stretch tent. See it all at the full gallery – taken by Madeline Trent!

From Madeline TrentRomance and autumn colors mixed together for this warm and heartfelt wedding, intimately set in the Blue Ridge mountains. The day was full of hugs and tears of joy as two families became one in an enchanting setting of waterfalls, captivating mountain views, and elegant stone staircases.

Fall wildflower blooms in delicate shades of blush and burgundy were both grown, and perfectly arranged, by farmer-florist Linda Doan of Aunt Willie’s Wildflowers. Wedding Planner Jessi Hoffman created a stylish fall color palette using bosc pears, shades of the changing leaves, and the whimsical wildflower blooms used in the floral design.

The bridesmaids wore mis-matched Jenny Yoo dresses in a deep rose color, which complemented the subtle shade of blush in the bride’s Justin Alexander gown.

An ombre escort display created by Lindsay Howell of Scripting Grace welcomed guests to the reception area with lyrics from the couple’s first dance, “Settle Down With Me.”

The Bride’s sister sang the couple’s first dance song before guests danced the night away to the Emerald Empire Band, each guest leaving with a box of delicious cookies (a Pittsburgh tradition) and a cup of coffee from the Telos Coffee Bar.

A Romantic Garden Wedding Above The Clouds, Between The Beverly Hills Rooftops

For today’s wedding, the bride wanted a romantic garden wedding and the groom, a glamorous rooftop affair, so together along with their planner, L’Amour Events combined the two for the ultimate garden-party, rooftop wedding! With a whimsical color palette, of cream, gold, and blush incorporated into everything from the table design to the floral arrangements by City Flowers, you could feel the elegance radiating from the rooftops of The London Hotel….and don’t get me started on the ceremony arch! Jessica Grazia Mangia Photography captured it all with her artistic eye and mix of digital and film photography! Take a peek below and be sure to check out the full gallery!

From Jessica Grazia Mangia PhotographyOh my gosh wait until you see the reception!!! When Kathy and Peter decided to get married, Kathy wanted a romantic garden wedding and Peter instead was drawn more towards a modern rooftop affair among the West Hollywood-Beverly Hills hotels.

The combination of modern architecture and the soft and feminine flowers creates a unique contrast that makes this wedding really outstanding. The overall romantic garden feeling is muted by the straight skylines and the more contemporary look of the hotel, and the seamless union between the two created a really gorgeous, enchanting scenery keeping it very Hollywood and modern.

From the Bride…It was very important for me to find a photographer that was able to photograph with both film and digital, I have been obsessed with the aesthetic for many many years and one major advice I would give to future brides is not to skimp on your wedding photographer. We chose Jessica Grazia Mangia for her film and digital photography. She blew our mind away with her artistic eye and professionalism. It is needless to say that we’re thrilled with our wedding photos. The vision for our wedding day was captured perfectly, beyond flawlessly and it shows.

I wanted a garden wedding and my fiancé (now husband), wanted a glamorous rooftop affair to revisit the day he proposed to me. We toured several venues and then I’ve got inspired by the London Hotel West Hollywood for its terrace and rooftop with sweeping views of the entire city. I envisioned a canopy tented reception space with elegant chandeliers. I really wanted an elegant garden feel with lots of greens, blush tones, and touches of gold. Charlene and Sanam of L’amour Events did an incredible job bringing to life my ideas, alongside City Flowers who did an extraordinary job with the florals in both the ceremony and reception spaces.

From L’Amour Events ProductionFor this wedding, in particular, we planned for a magical and whimsical, yet soft and sweet vibe to attribute to the beautiful couple. In order for us to bring this vision to life, we took an outdoor venue, tented it with draping fabrics, and added chandeliers to finish off an enchanted and elegant look.

Our color scheme consisted of light colors, such as cream and blush, for a romantic feel. We incorporated tea lights, and roses galore, along with hints of greenery. At every seating, we placed yummy cupcakes topped with delicate flowers made out of frosting by the amazing Dear Cake for the guests to take home with them and look back on after the event.

How to Perfectly Add, Just the Right Amount of Tropical Decor to Your Wedding Day

If you’re wondering how to add in just the right amount of tropical elements to your wedding day, look no further! Chloe & Mint along with Luna de Mare Photography put together the (dare I say) perfect inspiration shoot to show you exactly how with pops of color, carefully placed coconuts, and the most beautiful hand-drawn invitation suite with the most delicate details crafted by Salt Paper Co. With plenty of palm leaves and brightly colored blooms, Lovesome Blossoms created stunning centerpieces to accent the venue and an overflowing bridal bouquet! Take a peek below and get your Pinning fingers ready!

From Luna de Mare PhotographyInspiration is everywhere if we let ourselves find it. Drawn to the vibrant colors and abundant vegetation of Tropical landscapes, this editorial was created to exude a relaxed yet elevated aesthetic of what can sometimes come across as casual by nature.

Caressed by the warm breeze of tropical climates, we created a tablescape full of Seasonal florals and coconuts which was high on the list to add that bit of expected whimsy. Bold and Bright were fully embraced in every aspect of the design, with pops of color incorporated into the smallest detail. Lovesome Blossoms further accentuated the existing aesthetic of the venue by creating a simple yet beautiful ceremony aisle with large palm fronds along with a stunning installation of greenery to the altar.

A modern invitation suite was embraced for its fresh feel along with one of a kind hand-drawn depictions of the venue on multiple paper goods as part of the Bespoke Collection created by Salt Paper Co.

Our bride’s look was one of minimal beauty with a classic top knot and golden highlights with a bit of whimsy tied in with the accessories. She wore two looks, a beaded Lee Grebenau for the traditional look and a second more casual yet elevated J.Andreatta imprinted gown for that ‘dance the night away yet still look chic’ vibe.

This Tropical inspo was a joy to creatively direct and capture!
