Alexandria Wedding by Amelia Johnson Photography

We are going to delve into the land of dreamy for a bit as seen through the lens of Amelia Johnson Photography. And this wedding is fast approaching the top of my favorites list. The prettiest shades of blue, the french countryside-esque details, the ruffle cake crafted by Windows Catering – it’s just so stunning and all while maintaining a casual albeit insanely elegant air. Plus the bridesmaid dresses are pretty much the coolest wedding ware ever. Cozy on up to the gallery for the full wedding and a whole lot of gorgeous!

From the Bride…Our vision was a kind of French country/ Marie Antoinette- era wedding.  It went more in the direction of French country than Marie Antoinette, so the china plates on the tables and the macarons for the guest favors were kind of the only Marie Antoinette element that we ended up with.  The wedding was just close family and friends, and it felt very intimate (even thought there were 150 people there) to me and like a bigger family get together almost.

My flowers were all done by my mom, grandma, sisters, and aunts.  My mom used to be a florist and did flowers for lots of weddings, and she’s so talented.  Whenever she had a wedding coming up, our whole house turned into a flower shop and our kitchen would just be bursting with buckets of flowers and my grandma and aunts would come over and help until late at night. And that’s how it was for my wedding!  I wanted the centerpieces to have lots of greenery in them and look garden-like, not too structured.  My favorite flower is hydrangeas, so I wanted lots of those.  I even thought I wanted my bridal bouquet to be hydrangeas, but then I saw the beautiful peonies and asked my mom to make it just with those.  I was obsessed with my bouquet, I thought it was so beautiful.

Ted and I are high school sweethearts. We started dating our junior year of high school, and then our senior year we won the senior superlative for “Cutest Couple,” and it was announced at prom.  I was kind of caught off guard at the announcement and when I got up to go onto the stage to get my sash I didn’t see the stairs anywhere, so Ted lifted me up onto the stage in front of everyone at prom. When Bligh and Erica gave their speech, they told this story and said that him lifting me up onto the stage was like out of a movie and so cute. Then Bligh and Erica brought out our sashes and made us wear them during the reception. We had both kept our sashes all of these years (we dated on and off since high school- sometimes a year would go by when we wouldn’t be dating, but we both kept those sashes for some reason).  In the weeks leading up to the wedding, my aunt Sierra kept trying to convince me that I should wear the sash during the wedding reception but I kept telling her no way.  She had Bligh and Erica bring them out during their speech so we wouldn’t have a choice.  In the end, I thought it was really cute and it just made me remember high school and how Ted and I started out our relationship.

From McBride StudioThe wedding took place on his parents farm in Bathhurst. Emilie is from France and Ryan is a chef/ restaurant owner. Ryan is from Manly and Emilie the south of France. Emilie wanted the wedding to have a hippie-rock, casual and very relaxed feel. He proposed while on holiday with Emilie in the south of France. They had just been to the local market shopping and he bent down on one knee, in the middle of an amazing vineyard, and asked the big question. They had their little girl at the wedding, (only 6 months old ) Eva-Luna. She was Emilie’s bridesmaid. They asked for donations to the starlight foundation instead of wedding gifts. They both now live in Manly NSW Australia.

I can practically feel the warm breeze coming off these beyond beautiful images by Emily G Photography and the six year old inside of me totally wants to dive head first into that yummy looking kids table complete with s’mores, PB+J’s, and hot cocoa. And one of the best parts of this photo shoot is that you can actually have your wedding, starting next summer, at Kraxberger Estate. Can’t you just see yourself now, frolicking through those golden fields? Needless to say, I could go on and on, like, how cute are those invites by Paper Bloom? From Emily G PhotographyThis shoot was designed and created to celebrate the upcoming opening of a beautiful new Oregon wedding venue. Kraxberger Estates hopes to open their doors the Summer of 2012. The family would like to  offer couples a mixture of scenic beauty and elegant reception options. Nestled in the Hillsboro hills not far from Portland it is a stunning location. We set out to showcase the mixture of elegant, fun and scenic beauty in this shoot by bringing some of Portland’s best vendors and letting the creativity go wild. We brought in a S’mores bar to highlight the poolside fire-pit, a rustic but very elegant table setting to showcase the stunning fields and views. We also brought in a fun and creative kids table to point out the venues accessibility to event the smallest wedding guest.  We hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed putting them together.

Bay Area Wedding by Storybox Art

It isn’t very often that we get to pore over a traditional Hindu wedding on the blog but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t equally obsessed with all of the beautiful details. The stunning henna patterns alone always result in a tidal wave of ohhss and ahhhhs in the office. Storybox Art photographed the heck out of this gem and it is bursting with a rush of vibrant colors, beautiful traditions and of course, a so, so in love couple. See it all here!

From the Bride… When we decided to get married we wanted the wedding to focus on building community. With that as a focal point, we were able to frame our priorities around the people we love. While we had originally planned to have our ceremony outdoors under the redwoods, we had to decide two hours before the wedding to move it indoors due to an unexpected June rain. Within moments, our friends created a phone tree to inform everyone of the change in venue, moved all the vendors to the new location, and helped to transform a local community center into a beautiful space for a hindu ceremony and reception within a matter of moments. It was their generosity, work and energy that made our wedding day perfect.

Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum by Jen Lynne Photography

I have been totally swept right off my feet by this gorgeous wedding from Jen Lynne Photography.  I adore the wild centerpieces and florals and the sweet, natural details that fit so perfectly within the walls of the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.  It is one part organic, one part elegance and all romance through and through.  The rich, jewel-tones and gray palette are right on target for a perfect autumn celebration. Check it all out in the full gallery!

From the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum… For Jen and Alex, the only thing more romantic than falling in love in high school Shakespeare class may have been their wedding day. Jen and Alex’s wedding started with the inspiration of an eclectic mix of vintage elements that were reminiscent of a French market and whimsical, wild flowers.  Tucked away in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, the couple selected the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum as the venue to showcase their inspiration.

The spring showers only enhanced the romantic details of Jen and Alex’s wedding day. Nature was brought indoors as the couple wed under a stunning chuppah created by Cornelia McNamara, set against a wall of windows in the Museum’s Lobby framing both Lincoln Park’s North Pond and the Museum’s Courtyard that was full of new spring blooms.

Walls of glass windows lined with candles illuminated the rain droplets, creating a one-of-a-kind romantic glow for the couple’s reception in the Nature Museum’s South Gallery. One of the favorite details of the reception were the two French Country inspired Etegeres from Tablescapes that LOLA set together and fashioned as a dessert station filled with sweets from Blue Plate and cupcakes from Sweet Mandy B’s. The Etegeres provided a layered feeling for the sweet station with different levels of shelving and drawers that were pulled out and filled with multi colored Sevres dessert plates, also from Tablescapes. Another favorite touch was mismatched vintage Heirloom flatware from Tablescapes that were wrapped with hemstitch napkins and bundled with raffia.

Guests were able to write wishes to the couple at a DIY post card table that LOLA set together, adorned with vintage photographs from the couple’s parents’ and grandparents’ wedding days. The postcards will be mailed throughout Jen & Alex’s first year as newlyweds, bringing to mind the details – and the romance – of their wedding day.

Campfire Engagement Session by A Simple Photograph

I love engagement sessions that could easily inspire the perfect date night.  Or maybe even the perfect proposal!  Hint, hint!  Who wouldn’t want to snuggle with their honey under a flannel blanket and romance the night away frolicking in the sand and sharing s’mores.  This hazy dream of an engagement shoot by A Simple Photograph is such a sweet way to spend one of the last few late-summer evenings.  See the rest in the full gallery!

From A Simple PhotographLeslie and Phil will be married this September in Niagara, but we headed to the quaint village of Bayfield Ontario for their engagement session.  We strolled through town and down the wooded path to the marina and onto the beach where we eventually settled for a little bonfire and some toasted marshmallows.

From the Bride and Groom… The two of us met in Virginia while attending graduate schools. When a friend of Columbia’s struck up a conversation with Jura, we had an instant connection.  After successfully navigating a long-distance relationship, we were able to re-unite in Boston and later moved to Ithaca, NY.

We decided to get married in Lithuania in order to be closer to Jura’s family and to introduce our friends and family from the U.S. and elsewhere to this beautiful country (we ended up having guests from 12 different countries). We knew planning a wedding from across the globe would be difficult, so we engaged a terrific Lithuanian wedding planner, Viktorija, to oversee the process. During the summer before the wedding, while on an extended stay in Lithuania, we chose all the venues for the wedding and coordinated the rest of the planning process from the U.S.

We wanted to have a fun and festive, yet elegant and modern, wedding that incorporated aspects of our lives and interests.  We also sought to include traditional elements from Jura’s homeland of Lithuania. SMP was definitely an amazing source of inspiration and ideas. The overarching visual theme of our ceremony and reception was nature – leaves and trees with colors of green, brown and ivory.  We exchanged our vows (In Lithuanian!) in a beautiful neo-Gothic church. The church was decorated simply, with white flowers, candles and small live trees brought in for the occasion. We continued our nature themed day with a brief photo shoot in a beautiful pine forest, just around the corner from our ceremony location.

We incorporated a number of interesting Lithuanian traditions into the wedding festivities. After the ceremony, Columbia carried Jura over a bridge and we then attached an engraved lock to that bridge, representing our new bond.  To seal the deal, we tossed the keys into the river to be washed away. Upon our arrival to the reception, we were met by our parents with traditional essentials of the home, bread, water and salt. Later, our parents also transferred to us a beautiful candleholder, symbolizing the hearth of the home.  We also had a group of dancers dressed in traditional Lithuanian dress teach our foreign guests couple of traditional dances. On a lighter note, our “matchmaker” (the friend who caused us to meet) was subjected to a mock hanging – a unique and humorous Lithuanian tradition that is apparently meant to represent the family being disappointed with the groom and punishing the matchmaker for deceiving the family about the qualities of the groom.

Tribeca Rooftop Wedding by Carmen Santorelli Photography

This beautiful bride didn’t let a a day of down pouring rain ruin her chic and modern wedding, not one bit. The spectacular setting of the Tribeca Rooftop set the dramatic stage for both the nighttime ceremony and reception. Hues of pink, purple, black and white filled the gorgeous space and Carmen Santorelli Photography was there to capture all the special moments and pretty, little details and if you’re like me and you just can’t get enough, click here for even more.

From Carmen Santorelli PhotographyDespite of the rain, Sunhi and David’s wedding was truly incredible. Both the ceremony and reception took place at the famous Tribeca Rooftop. Sunhi and David met in college, at University of Michigan, and soon their friendship turned to love. David proposed on the Brooklyn Bridge. Sunhi’s day started at the Andaz hotel, where she got ready, while David got ready at his place in Brooklyn. Just as Sunhi and her bridesmaids were ready to leave the Andaz, the rain started and didn’t stop for the rest of the day. Out the window went all my carefully planned ideas for the shoot…the secret little location in Tribeca that I’ve been saving for Sunhi and David, the cobblestone paved streets…

So once we all arrived at the Tribeca Rooftop, I had to put Plan B in motion. Lucky me, the bride and groom are such perfect models, and the location was very versatile, so their images tell the story of the day, rain and all. Around 7 PM their ceremony began. During the ceremony there was a candle lighting ritual between the bride, groom, and respective parents. During this time, a song was performed by bridesmaids. There wasn’t a eye dry in the entire room! I was amazed at how many fabulous friends showed their love for Sunhi and David at their wedding…The reception was a ton of fun, with all the joy of youth and happiness shining through. Sunhi and David went on a marvelous honeymoon in Paris and Barcelona after their wedding. May your life be filled with love, guys!

Weston Gardens Wedding by McGowan Images

I love a garden wedding, so it’s no surprise that this Fort Worth stunner by McGowan Images has me all kinds of giddy and then some.  How could I not be head over heels for a wedding this crazy gorgeous and with so many amazing DIY details?  It’s a given, really.  From the breathtaking location (ceremony space = to die for) to the fabulous pomanders (And crystals!) to the bird cages galore, this soiree is a garden party lover’s dream.  And I am in heaven.  You can find me in the gallery soaking up all of the pretty.  Join me there for even more!

From McGowan Images With the first real heat wave of the Texas summer passing through, this wedding day was hot-hot-hot! But an intimate sunken garden kept guests in the shade, and Lauren & Trenton partied the night away under trees strung with twinkling lights. A string quartet might have seemed like a traditional choice, but careful listeners noticed that they were actually playing classic rock standards. Little touches like that put this wedding over the top… everyone walked away knowing it was a perfect reflection of the couple we were all there to celebrate!

Lauren paid special attention to the “little details” throughout the day, as it was her #1 priority to have guests walking away saying, “I’ve never been to a wedding like that before!” With the help of an aunt who’s a fabulously talented designer, Lauren & her family flew to the heights of DIY in transforming this simple venue into a sumptuous garden retreat. As a photographer, I’m well-aware of the work that goes into a wedding with this number of personal projects, and fully expected Lauren to be a frazzled brides with a million last minute “To Dos.”  We were pleasantly surprised to find nothing of the sort! Lauren was excited and chill at the same time… just ready to get married.  She said, “I knew the day was going to be a good one when Trenton brought me a sno-cone this morning. That’s all I need… my man, and a sno-cone.” It’s moments like that, and people like these, that have me continuously in love with my job!

From the Bride… After three years of long distance dating, I was beyond thrilled when Ryan proposed! I have always envisioned getting married on the beach, specifically in the Santa Rosa Beach area of Florida. My husband and I grew up spending summers in the area and have so many special memories of spending vacations with our family and friends.  We knew we wanted a wedding that was light-hearted, romantic, and FUN- a beach wedding seemed like a perfect fit. After months of searching for a wedding venue location, luckily my mother (also my matron of honor) found a reception site that was perfect for our budget friendly wedding- an art gallery on the famous Highway 30A.

We wanted a timeless, classic, elegant seaside wedding that did not cost a fortune.  We wanted our guests to feel the love that Ryan and I share and have fun celebrating at a unique wedding with an intimate feel. It was the perfect day and we were so pleased with the way everything turned out, especially the cooperating weather! I would have to say that the most special moment of the day was when we had our “First Look.”  Ryan and I got to see each other for the first time moments before our ceremony in a gorgeous garden.  It was breathtaking!

My mother and I did so many of the details of the wedding, such as the pomander balls on the ends of the aisle, the sand unity set, the flower girl/ring bearer shells, the chocolate candy favors, the ribbon wands and rose petal bags for our exit, the seating cards & table numbers & merriment menu, and the programs. A close friend of ours created our save the dates, wedding invitations, and response cards for us. We had many little details at the wedding and the reception. I wanted people to see things and then have to take a second glance to catch all of the little touches.  My mother put hand sewn crystals on the bottoms of the pomander balls.  We used the starfish brooches on every bouquet in the wedding.  Our sand unity set also had antique brooches on the shell boxes.  We special ordered the shells for the ring bearer and the flower girl. My bouquet had my mother’s antique handkerchief attached to the back side for my something borrowed, and my something old consisted of the first necklace trinket that Ryan had given me on our first Valentine’s sewn to my garter.

From Dreamlove Wedding PhotographyFrom the minute we walked into Dot and Seth’s apartment in the eclectic neighborhood of Boston, called Jamaica Plain, we knew that their big day was going to be full of love, community, and happiness.  Dot styled the wedding, which was held at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Boston, on her own, incorporating as much DIY goodness as she could.  From encouraging guests to design pennants as part of the wedding decor to hand stitching hearts of fabric to string up around their reception venue, this alternative affair was stunning.

Dot and Seth wanted to incorporate as many local vendors as possible and contacted their local farmer’s market in Cambridge to purchase in-season flowers from a nearby farm.  They designed pint glasses with mustaches and icons of their wedding theme, “Hearts, Hugs, and High Fives” as wedding gifts to guests.  While a band played songs like “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire”, Dot and Seth led a parade of all of the wedding guests to the ceremony site.  From handwritten vows to handmade pennants, Dot and Seth pulled off a gorgeous wedding and we felt lucky to be a part of it!

Berthoud Antrhopologie-Inspired Wedding from Cori Cook Floral Design

On behalf of brides, grooms, and wedding connoisseurs everywhere, I just want to extend a huge thank you to Antrhopologie for providing us with so much chic, whimsy inspiration. When I heard this Colorado wedding was inspired by the store of lovelies, I knew I had to see more. Captured by Audrey Hannah, it is whimsical perfection. From the fanciful flowers from Cori Cook Floral Design, to the subtle bird element, to the cool, vintage door holding the escort cards, this wedding is perfectly beautiful. Click here for even more!

My husband and I met almost 3 years ago on an online dating service. I knew walking out of that first date at a coffee shop that I would be walking down the aisle toward that man one day. As sure as I was that this day would come, I never could have anticipated the priceless look on his face when I turned that corner. It was the highlight of the whole day and had the entire crowd in tears.

Our June Anthropologie-inspired wedding was brought to life through DIY projects and the floral genius of Cori Cook. For a fresh spring look we used grey, orchid green and robin’s egg blue focusing on a subtle bird theme while mixing the old and the new. While we wanted a fashionable wedding, it was also important to keep it genuine and approachable. The eclectic look of our aisle decor and centerpieces were done by combining various shapes, textures and colors. Colorful Anthropologie crackled pots filled with textured spring green florals played agains glass apothecary jars filled with moss and birds nests. Gorgeous bouquets were encircled by a willow boarder to add texture and tie in with the bird theme in a classy and unique way.

My husband and I created the escort card display using a 1930’s pantry door accented with colorful knobs and pulls. We also created the photo booth using a homemade fabric backdrop, antique frames, and fun props. The images were captured by a instant print camera and were used in a scrapbook to create both favors  and a unique guestbook. An eclectic collection of cake pedestals and platters created the dessert bar finished off with a homemade table runner and sign. A variety of cupcakes, french macaroons and cold milk kept every guest happy. Even the cake was made with love by a close family friend.

As much as I loved every detail we put into this wedding, the amazing love radiating from my groom, family and friends blew it all away.

From Karen Wise PhotographyLindsey and Brian were married at Smack Mellon Gallery in DUMBO, Brooklyn on June 11, 2011. Lindsey got ready at the Gaansevoort Hotel in downtown Manhattan. Since Lindsey and Brian run their own business together in Rockland County, a greenhouse/greenery, the flowers were very important to them. They didn’t want anything “generic” or “common” to NY. (Apparently Hydrangeas and Peonies fall in that category!) Lindsey requested more tropical arrangements. There were succulents and many other wild blooms in tropical colors in her bouquet and around the rustic venue. She was thrilled when she saw Blossom and Branch’s work.

Brooklyn was also very important to them, as they both lived here for a while. They fell in love with their venue as soon as they saw it, the rustic nature of the building, and the proximity to the cobblestone streets and bridges in the background. As Lindsey was particular about the flowers, Brian’s main request was to have burgers at the wedding, and so their caterer, specializing in BBQ, made mini burgers for them and their guests. One of our main focuses was the food so finding caterers who understood what we were about – no-frills, good food that our Italian families would be happy eating.  CaraLeo were exactly that!

St. Simons Wedding by Jason and Rebecca Walker

Brooklyn meets budget meets Georgia meets BEAUTIFUL. This wedding by Jason and Rebecca Walker is a culmination of so many wonderful details and a whole lotta love. The crafty couple DIY’ed all that you see with the help of their friends and family, and ended up with the dreamiest of dreamy weddings. Her bouquet, her shoes, her dress, her vision, her handsome hubby – I have a crush on this entire wedding, and you can see all the reasons why in the full gallery of images!

From the Bride…My husband Wes and I met at art school in Brooklyn 7 years ago, he originally from the South and I a transplant from the Midwest.  Although we still live in NYC, we knew that we wanted to get married down near where he grew up in Georgia; not only for its romantic beauty, but also because he is still fortunate enough to have many dear but elderly family members, who can no longer travel.  We also knew that we wanted to try and recreate the feel of a typical southern-style get together, with touches of a Midwest picnic– laid-back, simple, and homemade.  Since Wes and I were paying for our wedding ourselves practically every aspect of our wedding was DIY.

While I began with designing our save-the-dates & invites, Wes started putting together our website, then together we letter-pressed our invites in our studio and went bottle collecting for our flower vases here in Brooklyn at Dead Horse Bay.  My amazing mother started collecting vintage handkerchiefs from local flea markets, which she later sewed into our table runners.  Together, she and I picked all of the lavender in her garden which we hung to dry (later to be used in the church).  We also picked about 100 of her roses, pulled the petals and laid them out on two large screens for drying (which would later be used for our guests to toss).  I had already pre-stamped card stock, so when they finally dried, we packaged them up into small wax bags. While doing this, Wes then began to create the central light fixture that was to be hung at our indoor/outdoor reception space.  He ordered wires, sockets, bulbs and some sort of magical tool dip and went on to hand-make each of our 40 hanging lights one at a time!  My dad, brother, sisters, sister-in-law, and best friend folded, sewed, and strung together over 2,00 paper doilies, to create our hanging garland. I made and packaged pins for our guests and letter-pressed dollies for the top our treat boxes.  Then everything had to to packaged and driven from Chicago to Georgia!

We were married at Wes’ grandfather’s childhood church (built 1864), in front of 80 of our closest friends and family, and had our reception on the ocean on Saint Simons Island.  For dinner we had our favorite BBQ on the island, Beachcomber BBQ, along with our homemade Peach Sangria, Sweet Tea, and an array of our favorite homemade desserts, including a pound cake made by Wes’ dear aunt. Our incredible friends and family (almost everyone traveling from far distances) helped set up our entire space,  helped run a thousand errands, and pitched in afterward to clean up.   If all of that wasn’t amazing enough, they all suffered through the extreme heat that Georgia was having.. over 95 degrees, with no complaints!  The entire time, I kept thinking how lucky we were to have such amazing people surrounding us. It was all so well worth the time and effort.  We could not have done it without them.  After the lovely night, we, along with all of our friends and a case of beer, went for a midnight swim in the warm Atlantic.  Truly dreamy.

From the Bride…Planning a wedding from Athens GA proved to be a challenge but with an amazing entrepreneurial family, it all came together. From the setup to the styling; each and every member of the family added their special touch to the day.

The cocktail reception was held under a beautiful sailcloth tent, and the dinner & dancing was in our fantastic barn! I wanted the classic New England wedding with a touch of elegance, and a splash of eclectic. I think we pulled it off perfectly! The Barn Setting was romantic and warm, and truly unique. Small southern touches were added to the menu and bar selections – a nod to our new southern home. The girls wore all different dresses in shades of pinks and peach, stunning! The guys….all in black with champagne ties & suspenders handsome as ever! The paper goods such as menu, table numbers, calling cards, etc. were all done on our own which made it even more special.

From the cookie bar, to the cake, to the seven piece band from Boston the day was just right out of a movie. It rained the entire day (typical New Hampshire…the weather changes every five minutes) but we didn’t let it get us down. It truly was the fairy tale wedding every girl dreams of!

From Sarah Maren Photographers...Somer and Andy have been together for over a decade, so their wedding came as no surprise to any of their family and friends.  Their love is deeply rooted in each other, and as they have grown as people and as a couple. Humboldt County, California had played a large part in their relationship.  Andy’s father owns a beautiful home hidden deep in the ancient redwoods that make Humbolt such a stunning location.  When Somer and Andy officially got engaged, there was no other place by Humbolt House to have the wedding.  They thoughtfully planned their wedding to be deep reflection of who they are as a couple, but also who they are as individuals.

Somer embodied a forest nymph in her flowing Grecian style dress and elegant Seychelle’s sandals. Adding the spectacular wreath atop her head for the ceremony she literally brought out the sunshine when she walked down the aisle.  Despite DAYS of pouring rain, just as they were saying their I Do’s the clouds parted and the song Somer had walked down the aisle to, “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles, suddenly became a prophesy fulfilled.  After their very personal ceremony, that was preformed by one of the couples closest friends and included the breaking of the glass to honor Andy’s Jewish faith. The couple invited their 120 guests to join them for cocktails in a small tent.  They has signature drinks, including homemade ginger ale and Jameson’s Whiskey (a crowd favorite), local Humbolt county wines and a selection of hand crafted beers the groom had brewed himself for his wedding.

They then invited their guests into the large tent for a delightful dinner full of local produce and meats.  As Somer works for the Rainforest Action Network, and is very conscience of the environment the couple were so thrilled to be using local, organic ingredients.  The couple also composted leftovers and used biodegradable cups for their rehearsal dinner and part of the evenings festivities. After heartfelt toasts from family and friends, Somer and Andy took to the dance floor and opened their party with their first dance to Talking Heads “This is the Right Place” Despite inclement weather, a dress with 3 inches of mud at the bottom by nights end and some transportation hiccups this wedding was bursting at the seams with hospitality, warmth, extreme happiness and most importantly unlimited love.

From Marcella Treybig PhotographyEric Colley (groom) a reporter on TMZ and Lauren decided to plan a destination wedding (since they live in LA) and their families are on the east coast where they grew up, not all in one place. To make it ‘fair’ for everyone they decided to do it right in the middle so it would be an even travel for everyone! While searching for the perfect spot Lauren decided that Charleston, South Carolina was perfect with its historical towns, ocean views, beaches, spring flowers, and horse drawn carriages. This town definitely has a lot of charm! The old historic rice mill house was the perfect spot for their classic charming wedding. The horse drawn carriages and people on the tours would often pass by and stop to partake in the photo op, so I made sure to include some of that action!

Eric’s father passed recently and he decided to incorporate his fathers wedding band in with two newer bands making it his own. It was meant to be because it was a PERFECT fit for his finger. No re-sizing at all! Eric was a killer dancer busting out moves to old Michael Jackson songs during the first dance. They even had a photo booth that I ran and managed to snap a shot with the couple & my assistant photographer.

Lauren had a wedding planner for her wedding since she did not live near Charleston, but through the experience she has discovered a passion for wedding planning and is the wedding planner for MY April 14th wedding coming up next year in Brenham, Texas. My couples always become good friends!

From the Bride…Sometimes, if you’re lucky, you can just let your venue do the talking. Bishops Bay Country Club in Middleton, Wisconsin did just that for us. The old mansion, combined with the rolling greens and picturesque views of the State Capitol across Lake Mendota created the perfect backdrop for our wedding day. White, with accents of golden yellow and champagne, were present in every aspect of the day. I walked down a grassy aisle lined with copious amounts of yellow rose petals to Bobby waiting beside a vintage vanity, that we used as our alter. Handmade May baskets are a tradition in my family and that was our inspiration for creating the lovely, little, yellow cones wrapped with gold foil doilies – they held yellow rose petals for our guests to shower us with. We said our vows lakeside, beneath two majestic oak trees, surrounded by two hundred of our closest friends and family.

As a Graphic Designer, I created our wedding monogram, programs, menus and table numbers. Along with my mother and sisters we added our creative touches to most everything. I gifted my attendants with gold tag and pearl necklaces, stamped with their initial, the cuffs on the boy’s shirts were monogrammed with their initials as well. My “something blue” was a delicate bracelet with a blue stone, a gift from Bobby that he brought from Iraq. Our floral designer incorporated it into my exquisite bouquet of roses, ranunculus, hydrangeas, orchids, lisianthus and sweetpeas.

Our reception portrayed a warm, upscale, vintage-inspired theme. Draped in white, the tent was an ethereal setting for tables adorned with my mother’s antique silver serving pieces filled with orchids, lisianthus, ranunculus and roses. Hundreds of candles clustered about gave a warm presence to the evening. On the guest book table, we placed an antique Underwood typewriter, circa 1920’s, for our guests to type notes telling us what “love” meant to them. This table also held a large, ornate lamp which gave a warm, charming glow to the area. Displayed there as well were various vessels filled with fresh yellow d’anjou pears, our thank you favors for all of our wonderful guests. My favorite memory from our wedding day was discovering that unbeknownst to either of us, we had the same inscription engraved in the other’s wedding band: “You’re my favorite”.

The Tuscan Tea Room Wedding Inspiration from Red Box Pictures

Who loves cupcakes? Cake? Macarons? Tea, pastries, raspberries? Okay, I know I’ve got your attention now. Chances are you answered yes to at least one (if not all) of the above questions. Well, LBBers, I’m so excited today, because I get to share some pretty delish tablescape inspiration with my favorite people. Bella Cupcake Couture (the fancy lady behind those cupcake wrappers) sent over three totally different tablescapes with the most amazing looking cakes, pastries, á la Tallant House, along with all sorts of other goodies. I’ve been drooling all day over all three set ups, designed by Crinoline & Tweed and captured by Red Box Pictures. I seriously hope you’ve got someone special who will drop everything and head out in search for sweets with you, because after this, I’m convinced you’ll be craving something scrumptious. Especially if you click here for the whole gallery.

From Bella Cupcake CoutureCrinoline & Tweed … This enchanting Paris-inspired tabletop display provides a peek inside of an intimate setting for two and is the perfect setting for one of the most special occasions – an engagement.

Bella Cupcake Couture in a collaboration with graphic designer, Astrid Mueller, had her create a proposal card which incorporated into this elegant display. We all imagined an evening scene in a Paris Cafe where a couple after sightseeing stopped by for a glass of red wine and dessert and he popped the question.  We pulled the color scheme from the proposal card and went with an Art Nouveau theme bringing in lush black and white prints accented with highlights of red.  Emici Bridal provided the silk flower brooch which we pinned to the napkin to create a surprising way to present the engagement ring.

Miki of Clara French Ceramique created an elegant tiered cake stand which was filled with cream puffs, eclairs, and beautiful berry tarts baked by Tallant House.  Trophy Cupcake baked up an assortment of pink frosted lemon raspberry and vanilla cream cupcakes which were set into black and white Lu Lu damask cupcake wrappers created by Bella Cupcake Couture. The flowers were arranged by Romanza Floral. This romantic tablescape was styled by Crinoline & Tweed  who also created a napkin band and floral wine glass coaster to compliment the setting. All photos were beautifully captured by Red Box Pictures –truly magnifique!

This elegant setting will make you and your guests feel like they are celebrating at a European Villa tea party.  We chose a lush cheery color palate of spring greens, blush pinks and buttery yellows and accented it with soft vintage floral motifs found on the vintage tea cups and tea pots collected.  Throw pillows, a rose table runner and cloth napkins were custom stitched to bring a custom touch to the table design.

The delectable entremet chocolate cake baked by Tallant House is sitting atop a Clara French scalloped pedestal ready to be served on her matching darling dessert plates. We nestled the vintage tea pots in between towers of Trophy cupcakes, a vibrant flower arrangement created by Romanza Floral and french macaroons by Tallant House.

Crinoline & Tweed’s handmade pillows spruced up a vintage couch and matched the gorgeous macaroons perfectly.

Each setting was dressed with its own one of a kind vintage tea cup, springy green dessert plate by Clara French a top a cream and gold vintage plate.  Crinoline & Tweed also made hand made dessert napkins and wrapped them in silk ribbon and found the perfect gold dessert flatware to match the gold etching on the cups and teapots.

The sweet place cards designed by Astrid Mueller welcomed each guest and also thanked them for attending this sweet affair. With so many Trophy cupcake flavors to pick from these are perfect for a shower setting as each guest can select her favorite flavors.  They look so pretty on the Clara French pink tiered dessert stand.  Each cupcake is dressed up in a Bella Cupcake Couture cupcake wrapper to match the color scheme.  This is a perfect theme for an intimate girly shower to celebrate with close friends and family.

A popular wedding color theme is Silver & White. Perfect for a couple who likes a clean, chic style or is planning a Winter Dream occasion.  This tabletop setting features a gilded silver mirror  as a sparkly backdrop which creates a modern Scandinavian style for the table softened with some feminine cut crystal accents.  Our stylists, Crinoline & Tweed  loaded the table with lit candles to balance the coolness of the icy silver and glass.  Silver and white modern place cards and an acrylic cake topper were designed by Astrid Mueller.

Our overall goal was to create textural warmth of soft whites and silvers.  A silver charger was topped with simple white china and layered with a decorative floral etched glass salad plate.  An assortment of vintage silver, crystal, and mercury glass candle holders in different shapes and heights were collected and scattered between the flowers and dessert centerpiece.  Keeping with our Scandinavian theme, we chose a repetitive modern shape for the champagne flutes, water glasses, and vases.

The centerpiece of desserts was built using layered Clara French cake stands.  Our photograph of a beautiful lace wedding dress inspired the lacy fondant covered cake baked by Tallant House.  We chose a variety of Trophy Cupcakes in shades of white and cream nestled inside Bella Cupcake Couture wrappers in a variety of silver and white textile-inspired designs. The flower arrangements were provided by Romanza Floral. This setting was in an intimate corner of the Tuscan Tea Room.

An exquisite display of simple elegance- your guests will be captivated by the dessert display and have a hard time picking which little treat to indulge in first.

From the Bride…When Zayne and I first decided it was time to get married, we knew we wanted to host a weekend-long event for our closest friends and family. We also knew we wanted to choose a location and decorative elements that would create a warm and homey feel. Luckily for us, Virginia, our home state has amazing state parks with a variety of accommodations. We chose Belle Isle State Park in the rural Northern Neck Region of Virginia. The location’s colonial-style mansion provided a perfect backdrop for the festivities.

Planning the wedding was a labor of love. I made as many things as I possibly could, and I enlisted the help of my Mom and Grandma. We were separated by several states, but we worked together to prepare for my handmade autumn wedding. I prepped hundreds of tissue paper puff flowers, sewed pennant banners and garlands, and crafted paper flowers for my bouquet and for table arrangements. My Mom assembled the mason jar tea light votives and my Grandma hemmed the table runners. Even my little sister, the maid of honor, helped from a distance. She knit the shawl I wore for most of my wedding day, and I knit the one she wore. My Grandma and I made the lace table runners just two days before the wedding. Most of the doilies we used came from my Grandma’s collection, which she had inherited from a variety of great-grandmothers and great-aunts. Assembling those runners was just the beginning of an incredibly busy couple of days leading up to the wedding. Friends helped fluff the tissue paper flowers and string them into garlands and arrange flowers in a mixture of new and vintage glass bottles. Then there was pressing all the vintage napkins and stuffing them with silverware, filling copper vessels with apples, and arranging everything on the tables.

Family and friends pitched in to get everything prepped; by the time we finished I think everyone felt a sense of accomplishment. Even some of the things I couldn’t make myself I hired others to do for me. My dress and veil were both Etsy purchases (as were our wedding rings).
