A Florist’s Southern Wedding Bringing Her Texas Roots to Kentucky At A Private Residence!

When you work in the wedding industry and it’s your time to tie the knot, the pressure is on! But, for this floral designer of Lovely Leaves, her southern wedding came together, easy as pie with a little help from her (vendor) friends! Her MOH event planner, Taylor Bible Weddings, and friend Zach Brady Designs assisted in planning and coordinating the day from floral installations to backdrops, and hair and makeup were done by her friends at Southern Belles Beauty, all based out of Texas! The stunning floral wedding cake was even transported from the Lonestar state created by Lily’s Cakes and Dani Cowan Photography captured it all. Check it out below and read on to see how the day all came together!

From the Bride…Of all the wedding days I have ever been a part of, I love my own the most. Marrying into the event industry is not for the faint of heart, so my husband Aleks gets all of the gold stars. My husband is a saint. In reality, he is a surgeon, but he doesn’t bat an eye when he walks into a house filled with flowers and never fails to be by my side every wedding-filled weekend, even working up until our own wedding week. I am basically the luckiest girl in the world.

We knew that we would be married in the Catholic Church, and it was important to Aleks’ parents that we be married at their church, the church that he grew up in, the Cathedral of Christ the King in Lexington. I am originally from Texas, but moved to Kentucky with Aleks when he finished residency; the priest who married us, Father Martin, was from our Elizabethtown parish, Saint James Catholic Church. While we had set the date aside years in advance, we were rather late in choosing a reception venue. Late October is prime wedding season in Kentucky, so we were thrilled when his sister and her husband, Alicia and DB Kazee, offered to host the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception at their historic home in downtown Lexington. The boxwood gardens designed by Jon Carloftis were perfect for portraits and the house itself seems to have fallen out of the pages of an interior design magazine. We opted for a clear tent on the front lawn, so as not to take away from the scenic locale.

As a florist and event planner, it was so important to me that my wedding stood out from all of the others that we’ve designed over the years. That year alone, we had had over fifty other weddings. Selecting a color palette was probably the most difficult part of the planning process for me. Classic black tuxes and floor-length black bridesmaid gowns allowed for endless possibilities. Choosing linens, flatware, glassware, has never been more fun, nor more last minute. I chose velvet linens as velvet really popped that year and mauve as a neutral base—mauve goes with all other colors. I love seeing new decor as it comes in, so committing to rentals didn’t happen until the month prior when the white and gold flatware arrived at Bryant’s Rent All. Florals two weeks before when I placed the order with my wholesalers. My favorite flowers are peonies, anthuriums, dahlias, and orchids. Southern smilax is a staple at Lovely Leaves; you’ll find it sprawled throughout photo galleries of weddings I have designed, so it was only natural that my own wedding would be overflowing with the dreamy green vines.

I could not be more grateful for the contributions of some of my closest friends. Teresa from Studio W Designs and I have been working together since 2012, and she designed the most perfect stationery suite. My BBF and Maid of Honor Taylor Bible (event planner Taylor Bible Weddings) in addition to throwing me the most amazing mid-week Austin, Texas, bachelorette party, flew into the Bluegrass State early in the week to prep for the wedding. I hired my friend Zach Brady to coordinate; best decision ever. A floral genius in his own right, Zach didn’t even know what I ordered until two days before the wedding. The tent entrance was a bit of last-minute magic; Zach built exactly what I imagined though while Taylor and I built photo booth backdrops and set place settings.

We had the most professional DIY wedding ever. The wedding cake shown came all the way from Texas from my dear friend Lilian Halabi of Lily’s Cakes. We did serve local Kentucky cake as well from Batter & Buttercream. Hair and makeup came all the way from Texas as well: Years ago I planned both bridesmaid Victoria Taylor’s and her sister Allison Cooke’s weddings before they launched Southern Belles Beauty. Even my dress came from a hometown bridal salon, Georgio’s Bridal, in the Lonestar State. Our wedding was truly a mesh of Texas and Kentucky melded together, not just us, but our closest friends and family plus vendors from across the South.

Refined Meets Rustic At This Distinctively French Inspiration Shoot

The historic Château de Pierreclos in Burgundy, France sets the scene for this inspiration shoot. As you approach the château, you drive along a winding path that leads up the hill. What Jennifer Fox Weddings created at the top of that hill will take your breath away. Baskets of curated goods welcomed guests, filled with regional treats including a locally made jam, a bottle of Burgundian wine with a bespoke label, fresh fruit, a baguette, and a sweet note. The welcome gifts set the tone for the rest of the day, from the invitations by Crème de Papier to the music stand decked out in an explosion of blooms from Florésie. Franklyn K. Photography was there to beautifully capture every detail. Grab your passport and head to France in the full gallery.

From Jennifer Fox WeddingsLocated in southern Burgundy, Château de Pierreclos – with a history dating back to the tenth century – boasts panoramic views of the village and vineyards below and features a glazed, multi-color roof, typical of Burgundian architecture. A big fan of Burgundy’s wines myself, I drew inspiration from the wine culture of the region while planning this editorial.

The welcome gifts set the tone for the decor of the day, as the invitations by Crème de Papier incorporated the Toile de Jouy in the custom envelope liners, and an illustrated map of the area highlighted the locations known for grapes and pears. The bride was the picture of elegance, as she walked down the ceremony aisle in the front courtyard of the château and said her “I Do’s” under the floral arch while guests kept comfortable with the tasseled, illustrated fans featuring the château.

The tabletop contrast of refined elements against the natural materials of wood, linen, and metal created an overall aesthetic of rustic elegance. Benjamin Kliber of Discotecnik closed the evening, DJing using what I think must be the most gorgeous music stand of all time, decked out in an explosion of blooms. Who knew DJ equipment could be so beautiful? Our full creative team ended the day with dancing, such a fun juxtaposition against the formal feel of the event, and truly cementing this editorial’s position as the one I will never forget.

How a Budget Breakdown Can Guide All of Your Wedding Expenses

Whether you’ve been engaged for a while or only for a minute, you’ve probably already heard – from family members or friends – how planning a wedding will be a true test of resilience and maturity for your relationship. As annoying as it can be (we’ve all been there with the unsolicited advice and ad nauseam cliches, we totally get it!), it’s actually a pretty on-point assessment. Although it’s a wonderful occasion to plan for and an especially special milestone to make a big deal of [and why shouldn’t it be? you’re leveling up your love!], getting all of the preparations underway isn’t child’s play – it’s hard work and will have you experiencing a range of emotions and highs and lows from beginning to end.

Budget planning: understanding how much money you want to spend in total, taking stock in where the contributions will be coming from, and allocating those resources to budget ‘buckets’ with intention and a balance of indulgence and restraint is a big responsibility and something that’s particularly stressful (no matter how much you have to spend!). That’s why once you’ve gotten to celebrate your engagement and live in your cloud 9 bridal bubble for a comfortable amount of time, you’ll want to tackle these bigger picture conversations early on in your planning stages and key in on your pre-aisle action items.

Who will be financing the wedding? Will your parents or other family members be contributing towards costs or will you and your partner be handling the majority of the expenses? When all is said and done, how much can you budget to spend on your big day? Everyone has their own unique set of financial circumstances, whether it means having $5,000 or $10,000 or $100,000 for the day, and most couples do end up spending more than they initially planned, but having a number in mind will help narrow down your options when looking at venues and vendors.

For the sake of preserving your sanity and making all of these ‘I Do’ decisions a little bit easier, you can apply the forthcoming budget breakdown to your celebration and determine exactly what you should be putting towards expenditures like your venue, catering (food, beverage, cake and dessert costs, after-party provisions, etc.), entertainment, fashion, flowers & decor, stationery, favors, and so on and so forth. All of the puzzle pieces to your all-important day are priorities, so while a huge chunk of the costs go to big ticket things (venue, photography, entertainment), it doesn’t mean that you should dismiss or discount the smaller budget percentages. If you can carefully vet all vendor choices and contemplate an aesthetic that you’ll be happy with from start to finish, then you’ll feel a lot more confident about where your money is going.

To that end, we’ve included some of our favorite and very handsomely-priced items from the Style Me Pretty Collection to help you make the most of your budget! Also, don’t forget to check out our Ultimate Planning Guides for infinite info and guidance on picking your ‘I Do’ dream team, hunting for your dream dress, and designing a dream wedding that you’ll remember forever!

The Setting and the Sustenance – 40% of your total budget

Your wedding venue (both the ceremony and reception sites, if they’re not both happening at the same place) and your catering costs – comprised of the food and beverages, the cake costs, the snacks and bites you’ll have the morning of your wedding and even following the event’s conclusion #afterpartyperks (all things savory and sweet and sumptuous) will eat up the largest majority of your wedding budget. But if your guests can remember how beautiful a place it was that you said your vows and how exceptional the dining experience was, it’s all well worth it!

When we say ‘setting,’ too, we’re also thinking about the scene(s) you’ll be creating throughout the whole day. So, if you want to bring in any vintage rentals or special seating, installations, linens, outdoor lounge looks or larger coverage considerations (like tents, draping, etc.), you’ll want to review the expenses in the context of your greater venue+catering percentage.

Note, all of your tablescaping touches – like candles, napkin ring holders, table number stands and place card holders will fall under your details and decor budget, but we’ve included them here, because they also help set the scene for you and your guests!

The Time-Capsule Captures – 12-15% of your total budget

Forgive us for getting so romantic with that categorization, but at the end of the day, it’s true: photography and videography services will ensure your wedding is well chronicled and something to be cherished forever. These are memories from the day once it’s all over, so it’s understandable why they make up the biggest vendor investment.

The Entertainment – 10% of your total budget

Just as the paparazzi (your wedding photographer and videographer, because you’re absolutely stars of the day) is a principal part of your budget pie, so is your entertainment: it’s what keeps your guests fully locked in on the day’s events and what they’ll recall when they’re asked about it months and years later. How much fun they have is intimately tied to this decision and the team that comes in to help your tribe turn up! Maybe it’s a band or a DJ, maybe it’s something experiential or interactive, or perhaps it’s just a total curve ball of creativity in the form of a caricature artist, a Cirque du Soleil style aerialist or choreographed performance, the list can go on and on.

The Finesse From Florals to Decor and Details – 15% of your total budget

While your venue and your catering decisions curate a vibe, so do your finishing touches via florals, decor, and details. These are all of the pieces that ‘pretty up’ your party and ones that will undoubtedly stand out in all of your photos; they’re also all of the elements that will constitute your wedding style, be it classic or casual, rustic or romantic, modern or multicultural (and, of course, it can be a blend, too – it’s even better that way!). For the most part, since floral design requires so much skill, artistry, and coordination on behalf of the professionals, it’s often the root of this 10-15%, but the rest of it should never be an afterthought. In fact, even if the decor and details aren’t focal points for your guests, they’ll still make a big difference for you!

Whatever kind of ceremony and reception you’re readying yourself for, you can turn up the delight factor of the fete by incorporating intentional and design-elevating decor that either speaks subtly to you as a couple or does the most with your new titles.

The Head-to-Toe Glow-Up – 7-10% of your total budget

Of course, the most important thing about your wedding day is the celebration of your love and your next step in the company of your favorite people in the world, but you’ll want to look and feel good doing it. This number includes all of your fashion for the day: a gown, a tux, any second or third ensemble changes, as well as any glam up services (hair and makeup). You’ll also want to make sure not to leave out your pre-wedding alterations and tailoring as well as any outfit-completing accessories or accoutrements, like lingerie or shapewear, jewelry, headpieces, shoes, and the wedding rings you’ll exchange with your vows!

Though every budget-allocated category has the potential to be overspent on, fashion is one that can be safeguarded as long as you keep your comfortable-spend limit top of mind when you’re shopping. Over and above that, you’ll also want to remind your style consultants of this price cap/threshold when they’re doing their pulls.

The Stationery – 3% of your total budget

What’s a beautiful wedding without equally-beautiful bids to get your guests there? This percentage takes into account ALL of your pre-wedding correspondence with postage, as in your save-the-date, your invitation suite, any additional paper goods should you need them (i.e. like a rehearsal dinner invite), as well as everything that you need for the day of: wedding signage, programs, place or escort cards, table numbers, menus, etc.

Thankfully, there is a wide range of stationery services to accommodate budgets of every kind – not to mention, you can also save money by ordering stunning stock through a site like Style Me Pretty (which offers a incredible selection of stylish and well-priced options for everything from STDs to invitations, wedding programs to thank you cards) or sending a gorgeous digital alternative.

The Favors & Gifts – 2% of your wedding budget

While favors don’t make or break a wedding, providing a nice sendoff to your friends and family who traveled near and far for your big day is a dignified gesture of gratitude. Something edible, like delicate painted macarons or meringues, infused olive oils or hot sauce, artisanal hot cocoa bombs, miniature bottles of your favorite alcohol, will always go over well, as will practical picks like candles, tiny potted plants, bar cart-prettying drink charms, etc.

And your bridal party definitely knows that you love and appreciate them for standing by you at the altar and helping with everything up to that point, but that’s not to say that they’ll turn away a thoughtful gift! Gifting your guys and girls is very much a subjective and deeply personal prerogative, but what we can tell you is this: even something small can be super meaningful (especially if it’s coupled with a card that gets a little more gushy!).

The Transportation – 2% of your wedding budget

It’s likely that most of your guests will make their own plans to get to your wedding (driving in their own cars or caravanning with other members of your crew), but arranging transportation on their behalf is a very nice thing. Something as simple as a shuttle service or a chartered bus from your venue to the hotel at the end of the night can make guests feel relaxed and afford them the opportunity to indulge a bit more at your reception since they don’t have to drive home once it’s over.

For you and your wedding party, transportation might look more like limos, a party bus, or vintage chauffeuring accommodations. Although this part of the picture isn’t huge, it absolutely can’t be overlooked or done too late in the game. How to get from point A to point B can never be an “IDC” conversation!

The Cushion and the Creative Help – remaining 3-9% of your wedding budget

No matter how nit-picky you get with your nuptials budget, you will always find that you go over on one or two things – it’s only human and we get it, extra spending on a certain species of flower or some extra hundreds spent on your dream gown, it’s understandable. That’s why you’ll want some buffer funds for your budget.

Truthfully, though, our greatest advice would be to at least look into a wedding planner at the beginning of your preparations. Adding a wedding planner to your list of “must-haves” is a very smart move, and you might be surprised to learn that an aisle-ready accomplice isn’t always out-of-reach. Planners bring a level of edge, expertise, and elevation to your wedding. They work with your ideas, personalities, and stories and are able to use their experience and resources to bring things together in a way that is both polished and reflective of you and your partner. Plus, over the course of working with you, planners will get to know your bottom line. This means they’ll carefully consider your budget, relate it back to what’s most important to you, and find the right wedding people to recommend for your event.

A wedding is a huge commitment—both in time and money—and a planner will do their best to protect your investments and make sure you’re covering everything you need (and some wants, too) with the funds that you have.

A Little Bit of The Tuscan Countryside Right In Ohio with A Real Life Couple as Models For This Shoot Full of Love!

Who knew you could step into the Tuscan countryside, right in the middle of Ohio? Well, at The Club at Corazón, and today’s stunning inspiration shoot, featuring the most beautiful real-life couple, you are transported. With blush and apricot hues, the florals by Prema Designs stole the show,  as they were perfectly paired with subtle black table decor, detailed and planned by Jeannene Lillie Events. Everything from the attire to the cake by Lavender & Honey Cakery and who could imagine anything better than a champagne cart?! Take a look below to see Starling Studio’s beautiful photos!

From Jeannene Lillie EventsNestled in the heart of Dublin, Ohio, ivy creeps up rosé stone, greeted by the deep terracotta of Spanish roof tiles, and the trickling fountain sings as it transports you to the Tuscan countryside. This is The Club at Corazón. For so many, this year has brought unexpected change and unavoidable delay to quintessential life milestones…but not here.

On the coveted October 10th, 2020, Alejandra and Rachel’s original wedding date, planner and designer Jeannene Lillie Events crafted an oasis of European elegance marrying the vibrancy of Summer with the warmth of Autumn. A delicate palette of apricot and cream cloaked in luxury textiles and delicate gold details exudes refinement from every element. Breathe deeply while you gaze at the gorgeous images, courtesy of Tessa Berg at Starling Studios, and you can almost smell the delicate florals on the warm Summer breeze, the buttercream on your tongue, and feel the hint of crispness as Ohio fades into Fall.

Lush florals by Prema Designs featured refreshing pops of ivory and greens, creating a palette that transcends the seasons. Locally grown dahlias, cosmos, larkspur, and carnations offer depth and draw your eye into a textural journey through this inspirited, but purposeful design. Rachel’s custom Threadwell Clothiers suit was accented by a custom lapel style floral boutonnière, a fusion of androgynous and feminine energy. Alejandra donned the Sanibel gown by designer Ines di Santo, with its signature illusion back, paired with a tulle overskirt, full-length veil, and black lace Bella Belle heels. Her bouquet itself was draped in rich, apricot silk ribbon flowing delicately downward to kiss the floor.

Rachel and Alejandra shared their first look in the courtyard near the Italian-inspired fountain. As they recited their wedding vows, the breeze floated through the florals, fluttering through Alejandra’s veil and gently carrying away their promises to each other – with not a dry eye to be found. The entire shoot was designed with the couple’s personality at the forefront. Photographer Tessa Berg said, “The love they have for each other is so inspiring and I feel honored to have captured their newlywed bliss in such an authentic way”. Stationer and calligrapher, Lupine Letters, crafted a suite of delicate, handmade paper, flowing calligraphy, and deckled edges in blush and ivory, punctuated by strong slates and glittering gold for added European elegance. Mirroring the invitation’s delicacy, the wedding cake featured handcrafted wafer paper ranunculus blooms, delicate branches, and a subtle watercolor texture designed to speak through its simplicity.

The creative team, assembled by queer wedding planner and designer, Jeannene Lillie Events, was composed entirely of either LGBTQ+ identified or outspoken ally professionals from the Central Ohio Community, crafted the day with a strong responsibility to honor the significance of this date for Rachel and Alejandra. Morgan and Colby of Prema Designs who dreamed up the breathtaking florals reflected, “Taking part in a shoot that celebrates the universe of diversity and strength of love in all capacities from vendors to models, was heartwarming and affirming in so many ways!” they continued, “Having a real, married couple as models for our designs was so, so special. We can only hope to one day inspire LBGTQIA+ couples with this shoot in the way it inspired us”.

During a year where conversations around marriage equality rights have become a topic of debate, this shoot created an opportunity to celebrate both femininity and masculinity together while embracing love and romance in all its forms. Bride Alejandra Esson said it best, “In a world that can be so heavy, there are moments of light and love and people who exude this”.

Think a Micro-Wedding Means Fewer Unique Details? Think Again!

A reminder to all the beautiful couples out there who’ve been forced to postpone or change their wedding plans – your day can still be just as unique, special and safe with a smaller guest count!! Just ask Rose Andrew Events! There’s seriously so much you can take advantage of when it comes to hosting a micro wedding – from more of your budget spent on blooms to an intimate experience for you and your guests. To get your creative juices flowing – check out the full gallery from todays dreamy microwedding vineyard shoot captured by Tetiana Photography. Trust us, it will be a sight for sore eyes.

From Emily Muddiman of Rose Andrew Events“We loved the setting of Monet Vineyards in Brush Prairie, WA. From the immaculate gardens and European inspired finishes, to the overgrown wisteria taking over the exterior of the home, the location looked like it came straight out of a painting! With our venue in mind, we chose a color palette reminiscent of Pierre- Auguste Renior’s painting “Woman with a Parasol”! Sage green with pops of taupe, caramel, mauve and french blue. Our ceremony was set in the gardens facing the grand estate and guests sat on French inspired soft seating. Lush garden blooms lined the back of the aisle.

The tables featured sage linens paired with overgrown arrangements of garden roses and grasses made by Rose Andrew Events, vintage gold rimmed china, modern gold flatware and cut crystal glassware. We chose unique velvet tufted ottomans for the reception seating. Rather than one long table, we chose to have guests seated at two smaller more intimate tables by household. Although this was done with COVID restrictions in mind, I see smaller more intimate seating becoming a wedding trend in the years to come! I worked with our talented stationer, Crystal of the Fancy cat Studio to dream up an invitation suite and corresponding day of paper goods that felt reminiscent of overgrown gardens and the artists who paint them.

Guests were greeted by beautiful birch signs reminding them to social distance and a garden themed escort display complete with small gardening tools and nameplates adorned in fluffy tassels. Her custom crest on the envelope liner, engraved birch table numbers, and menus adorned with handmade butterfly appliqués proved that a smaller guest count does not have to mean a lack of details! The cake required the work of multiple talented vendors to come to fruition!

Lady Grey made a scrumptious buttermilk vanilla cake with bourbon peaches, The Fancy Cat Studio designed a custom crest and Pomp and Revel printed the design on edible fondant. The cake featured tall opulent tiers and sugar butterflies were dancing about…talk about romantic! Our bride wore a stunning gown that featured elegant sleeves, floral lace and a plunging back. Paired with her hand painted Dolce & Gabana kitten heels and cascading crystal earrings by Riot of Flowers, her bridal ensemble was simple yet feminine and elegant. She carried a colorful bouquet of peonies, caramel and mauve garden roses, dancing deutzia and campanula. Our talented Hair and Make-up artist, Jen Lagers, styled her hair in a high bun to show off the neckline of the gown and dewy makeup with a neutral smoky eye. Standing beside her, our groom wore a classic white and black tux. This micro-wedding inspiration proves that stripping down the guest list doesn’t have to mean sacrificing unique details! We wanted to remind couples facing postponements and cancellations of their large wedding celebrations that they can still get married in a beautiful, unique and safe way!”

Trend Alert: Patterns Are What Your Wedding Is Missing

If you’re looking for a way to make your wedding stand out from the crowd, keep reading! A pattern might be just what your wedding is missing. Josh & Dana Fernandez styled and photographed an inspiration shoot, lead by the concept of couples opening their minds to the endless possibilities of personalization. Half Moon Lettering designed a European garden aesthetic pattern from scratch, and it drives the inspiration for the rest of the day. From the bridal bouquet to the cake design, it’s all about the details that Kelly Doonan Events pulled together seamlessly. Mibellarosa took the romance up a notch with greenery and lush blooms. Get a closer look in the full gallery.

From Josh & Dana FernandezThe basis of this editorial design was to further explore the idea of patterns being incorporated into wedding design. With this editorial, we created a palette that is colorful, but with some earth tones and used that to create a pattern that was used creatively in different ways.

For the ceremony, the editorial team strove to incorporate the home décor feel by creating lounge seating with velvet pillows in the custom floral pattern by Half Moon Lettering and in complementary solid tones. Mibellarosa utilized the wrought iron gate overlooking the lake to create a dreamy floral installation.

Guests Experience The Rich Warmth And Beauty Of Oregon In The Fall

Is there anything not to love about a fall wedding? The warm color palette, the rich textures- we could go on and on! When Kaelyn and Cameron decided to get married in the bride’s home town, they turned to fellow native Events By Robin to bring autumn in Oregon to life. Tonal colors of mustard, rust, and a muted blush played throughout the special day, from the greenery and foliage-lined ceremony aisle to one of the most sensational sweetheart tables we’ve ever seen created by Wildflowers Floral Design. The exquisite imagery by Jenny Quicksall Photography tells the story of true love. Fall headfirst into the full gallery.

From Jenny Quicksall PhotographyBespoke white painted wooden signage throughout the event provided a slightly modern flair to the affair with hand-painted block lettering and calligraphy, which were hung on custom made oversized rust frames. Signs included a welcome sign, order of events, a playful non-assigned seating sign for the ceremony, espresso bar, and bar & sweets signage.

The ceremony was adorned with an oversized and lush floral arch for the couple to fall more madly in love during their pledge to spend eternity together. We loved the round top of the arch which added more romance and whimsy. Lush floral clusters were placed down the aisle.

As the sun set and the chilly crisp fall air set in, guests received soft pashminas and enjoyed a warm custom beverage at the espresso coffee bar. All snuggled up, the night was enjoyed under the twinkly starlit sky and twinkly lights in the trees.

Asheville Wedding Planner’s Amazing Bridal Shower

Editor’s Note: For starters, what’s not to LOVE about a bridal shower with donkeys adorned in the most gorgeous floral accessories? That’s right. And that’s just the beginning. This bridal shower is seriously what dreams are made of.

Can we start with the donkeys? Because how adorable are donkeys with flowers in their satchels? Too cute! Right?! Okay, let me back up a bit. We are so excited to be a part of this incredible bridal shower for one of our favorite Asheville event planners, Caroline! Caroline works with Mingle Events! It’s her turn to tie the knot. So her Mingle gal pals, Candace, and Ashley planned the most beautiful celebration for our dear Caroline!

Along with a dream team of vendors, Candace and Ashley created the most beautiful bridal brunch we have ever been to. Greeted by Poppy and Bean as you enter the new barn at The Venue at Mills River. Grab a mimosa from the mimosa cart or a bloody mary and get your gab on with all your gal pals. Graze through the massive charcuterie display in the middle of the barn.

Then make your way to a cozy and gorgeously styled seating area around the barn. And don’t forget to pop by the dessert table for a cake pop or heart cookie. We had an amazing time celebrating Caroline!

After opening gifts, Caroline posed with Poppy and Bean on the quaint tree swing. Then spent time chatting with all her friends and family. It was a lovely afternoon.

Organic Earth Tones, Romantic Florals, And The Dreamiest Dress At The Caroline!

Neutral color palettes happen to be one of my favorites, but when pops of ‘not your typical’ colors are mixed in…I really get excited and today’s inspiration shoot is exactly that! Lea Bremicker Photography was inspired by the Phoenix, AZ venue The Caroline and along with Riding Tandem and Array Design AZ made some magic happen. Burnt orange and golden yellow linens alongside beautiful blooms and dried flowers fit the design perfectly and the dreamy Ines Di Santo gown brought the romance. Check it out below and take note of the coolest cocktail hour activity for your guests…The Foto Booth Bus!

From Lea Bremicker PhotographyThe Caroline’s venue beauty, with a classic Spanish-style and desert touches, was the key inspiration behind this shoot. The venue is filled with organic and warm neutral details throughout. Planning for the design a minimal approach was prioritized, to allow its beauty to shine. The Caroline’s space emphasizes earth tones. A hint of fall was introduced onto the already warm neutrals in the design, and it absolutely transformed into a romantic space before everyone’s eyes.

We asked Paige & Pen to emphasize the unique structure seen at the Carolines entrance by creating a custom illustration of the quaint courtyard. She used it beautifully as the key element on the invitation suite. It offers a beautiful foreshadowing of what guests will experience at the wedding.

The Caroline is a sprawling and intimate estate outside the Phoenix area, with lush lawns and well sought after shade provided by the towering trees from the Arizona sun, creating the backdrop for ceremonies and receptions. In this open space, the possibilities are practically endless when it comes to design and waiting to make the wedding daydreams of couples come true.

The sophisticated glamour of the gown “Aria” by Ines De Santo, was another muse for the organic design. Its details and textures paired with the modern sleeves were the highlights of the bridal look.

A full fall floral arrangement of mixed burnt orange and dried neutral floral suspended over Krizia and Marios under the slatted wooden arch during the ceremony. A fresh canvas to bring the ceremony altar to life on, the natural wooden arch offered an eye-appealing base in the tree-filled space. Captured in the golden hour, the translucent rounds of the dried Lunaria floral element in the aisle entrance designs were glowing. Ear appealing was Selin’s from Esko-Violin music during the ceremony and gave the whole atmosphere a very unique touch.

Lovely turmeric velvet linen poured rich fall hues into the reception space. The neutral design was enhanced by these warm tones, and textures bringing life to the round reception tables from fall foliage, dried elements, and lush blooms. Each guest was greeted with a neutral dried element at their place setting, accompanied by a custom calligraphy escort card with a tassel accent by Paige and Pen.

The Foto Booth Bus was a unique addition to the cocktail hour and reception celebration for guests to capture fun memories together. Ashley with the Foto Booth Bus makes the entire experience a blast and is able to instantly provide sweet momentum for guests to cherish.

Home 101: Elements of the Nightstand

The nightstand can truly and honestly be the make-or-break element of your bedroom. It’s a tricky little bugger because you want it to be super functional, decorative, not obnoxious but also chic…. But at the end of the day you just want it to hold your chapstick.

So we’re breaking it down to the basic elements that compose a good — yet functional — nightstand.

1. The Nightstand Itself

There are a couple of key components that make a great nightstand choice.

Height: your nightstand should be an inch or two taller than your mattress. It will look a little dinky and dis-proportional if it dips below your mattress line, so always error on the side of taller. Choosing this height is dependent on SO many variables, do you have a boxspring? Platform bed? Single Matress? Most nightstands come at standard heights around 20inches and higher, so before you select your piece, measure your mattress height and go from there!

Storage: This is totally preference. Some people LOVE a good pedal stool nightstand that’s slender, non-intrusive and chic. Others need the drawers to store their pj’s and other night-time routines. The more you can store IN your nightstand the less you have to store ON your nightstand.

Style: You used to buy FULL matching sets including dressers, armoires and bed. Nowadays, there’s beauty in the mix! But you still want to have some unity. Take account your bed legs, materials and color. This example is a velvet headboard paired with a sleek wood stand, and the duo is working some serious magic.

Functionality: What kind of space are you working with? Do you want to have a desk in your room but can’t figure out where to put it? Maybe a desk/nightstand combo is just what you need! If you just need your nightstand to hold a lamp, the pedal stool side table is just what you need. We’ve even seen some RIDICULOUSLY chic ballroom chairs function perfectly as a nightstand.

2. Decorative Stack

Studies show the significant benefits of unplugging an hour before going to bed. So whether you want to journal, read or skim a magazine, it’s always a good idea to keep a casual read or two handy on the nightstand.

3. The Tiny “Catch-All” Dish

This dish is dainty and cute and oh-so-pretty, but it is also SUPER handy. It can hold those earings you forgot to take out before going to bed, corral your chapstick to prevent it from rolling off the table or hold your rings while you apply your nightly lotion. This tiny-little-always-overlooked-power-tool of decorating comes in so, so handy.

4. Easy Reach Lighting

How many times have you gotten all tucked in, nuzzled up and cozy in bed…. Only to realize the light is still on from your pre-bedtime reading? Yeah, it sucks. Easy reach lighting can help to prevent this. AND in the morning it’s a softer light that you can reach as a stepping stone to get you out of bed because you don’t have to fully commit to the cold floors to get any form of light on. There are two forms of lighting to consider here.

Mounted Lighting: The pro of this form of lighting is that it frees up your entire nightstand to do whatever you want with it. It’s chic, it makes a statement and it’s super practical. The con is that it takes quite a bit of effort and commitment. If you like to move your furniture around, this is not a good option for you.

Lamp: Lamps come in all shapes and sizes and can seriously make a design statement. The only con is that they take up quite a bit of room on your nightstand, but they’re also typically a lower price range and they’re a great option for those who like to switch things around. Changing the style or color of your lamp can make a BIG impact in any room.

5. Greenery

If you’ve been following along with us for more than like 5 seconds then you will quickly deduce that greenery is always the answer. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to a fresh bundle of flowers? Or you can opt for a small potted plant that you don’t have to constantly refresh.

6. Compartments

Compartments fall in similar functionality to the Tiny Dish. A consolidated mess is a lot easier to handle, and in this case, it makes “clutter” uber chic. This can hold your watch, phone, wallet or keys in a totally elegant way.

A couple of other tips and tricks

– Simple is best when it comes to setting up your nightstand. The worst thing a nightstand could be is a total cluttered mess that you constantly knock over in the early morning when trying to swat at your alarm.

– Be extremely selective with what goes on your nightstand, after all, it’s the last thing you see at night and the first thing you see in the morning! Adding a treasured photo is always a good idea here.

– Hide your cords! Or, ditch the electronics altogether and charge them elsewhere. A big mess of cords totally ruins any aesthetic efforts you make.

– Keep a pen and notebook on hand: Do you wake up in the middle of the night with a BRILLIANT idea, but can’t remember it in the morning? Keep your notebook on hand. So go forth! And make your nightstand excellent!

13 Desks That Prove You Don’t Need An Entire Room For An Amazing “Home Office”

For many people, working from home ignites a new project. You now need a space to call your “office.”

A quick search on Pinterest (or frankly, even on our site!) will populate GORGEOUS rooms designed and dedicated ENTIRELY to a home office. And while they are totally enviable and swoon-worthy, unless you have hidden square footage in your home that you can magically convert, it is less of a reality if working from home is not your normal.

But don’t lose heart! Just because you don’t have a whole room to become your ~brand new super swanky~ office, that doesn’t lessen your project potential and it certainly doesn’t lessen your productivity! And these workspaces prove just that!

A Citrus Inspired Editorial at Bastide Des Barattes in Provence

Grab your passports and escape to Provence with today’s gorgeous citrus inspired fête planned by Provence Emoi! From the bride’s breathtaking two-piece number to a daring color palette of purple, yellow and orange hues brought to life by Jadis Fleur’s blooms… the steal-worthy inspo here is truly endless. We can’t help but swoon over the golden hour portraits captured by Thomas Audiffren in the lavender fields at Bastide des Barattes – talk about an insta-worthy setting! To watch the magic unfold and pin all your fave details, check out the full gallery here!

From Thomas Audiffren Pauline, the wedding planner at Provence Emoi, likes witnessing the vendors’s work revealed on every single detail. Today’s inspiration is an original team work planned by Provence Emoi and designed in collaboration with photographers Jérémie HKB and Thomas Audiffren. This shooting is an elopement fantasy, Purple lemon inspired and intimate with an eight seat table rented to Oravis location for the two lovers and their closest friends. The venue chosen for these photos is the incredible Bastide des Barattes located in cavaillon in the heart of Provence.

The bride of the day is enhanced by the incredible work of Karine Brossard with the hair design and the make up. The bride is also beautified by the delicate jewelry creations of Les Néréides and the tunning dress created by Géraldine Daulon. The groom is wearing a pastel blue suit from Igilles. For a perfect sweet escape after the ceremony, Provence Classics provided the incredible Lady Mary, a MGA roadster from 1958! The concept for the table and the details was to combine touches of purple and warm colours like yellow with the lemon and orange with the kumquat.

Loic from “Jadis Fleur” created a wonderful flower bouquet, an amazing floral arch for the ceremony and adelicate and modern floral composition for the table. The entire tableware comes from Le Comptoir de Julia. Our goal was to create a very elegant, soft and romantic atmosphere, trying to find a balance between a fashion approach and a lifestyle touch. The setting of the table is enpowered by the sweet wedding cake designed by Maison Mimosa and a sofisticated touch with a Ruinard bottle of champagne. Our color palette and texture elements contributed to the wedding venue’s refinement with wonderful Bastide des Barattes and, at the same time, the evidence of the couple’s complicity. The delicate « kumquat inspired » stationery created by Marion Léger Design perfectly combined on the flatlays with the real fruits and the poetic shoes created by Bella Belle. The film photographer Thomas Audiffren shows you the best of this great inspiration with a film photos report processed and scanned by Carmencita Film Lab. The photographer Jérémie HKB is also a key element for the styled shoot by provinding excellent digital photos.

The Ultimate Nashville Wedding In The Bride’s Childhood Home

When an interior designer bride teams up with Paige and Windrow Event Planning, you know the result will be spectacular. Lillian’s childhood home was transformed into her dream wedding venue, and the awe-inspiring pictures by Elizabeth Lanier Photography are giving us all the laidback elegant vibes we dream of. From the bride… The day felt extra special and unique having it at my childhood home, in the backyard that I grew up playing in. My parents were so kind and generous to let us take over their house and transform it into our dream wedding venue. The whole event was intimate and dreamy and felt true to who we are as a couple.

I was very involved in the planning, but I couldn’t have imagined doing it without Paige and Windrow. As an interior designer, I immediately started treating the process as I would a job—I literally had a PowerPoint presentation at our first wedding planning meeting! I knew I wanted it to have a casual, yet elegant feel.

My husband and I had an amazing experience with Elizabeth Lanier Photography. We were both were a little nervous on the day of, but Sarah Elizabeth was so nice and made us feel totally at ease. She gave us plenty of direction, but let us be ourselves. She has such a calming energy. The end result was beautiful photos that felt natural and candid and truly captured who we are as a couple and the best day of our lives together so far.

Preppy Classic Home that Perfectly Blends Neutral with Color

Editor’s Note: This home is the perfect marriage of a neutral base + bright pops of beautiful colors! Just wait until you take a peek at that GORGEOUS laundry room.

Situated on a wooded lot in Edina, MN, this home has breathtaking treetop views. Our clients, an empty-nester couple, wanted intentional rooms and individualized spaces in a color palette that was playfully preppy with coastal undertones.

With main-level living and ample outdoor space, the home boasts an easy indoor-outdoor flow. We created a seamless flow not only to the outdoors, but between rooms without losing sight of their individual personalities.

We approached each room as an opportunity to introduce a unique element, while using the remaining selections to establish uniformity and continuity. Additionally, the ceiling details, millwork, flooring and wallpaper alternately delineate spaces and create cohesion.

We kept the backdrop of the home neutral, and chose playful and coastal selections, materials and accents. A consistent color palette of navy and Kelly green also helped to pull everything together.

From the dining room’s chairs, to the patterned laundry and bathroom floors, to our vibrant inclusions of color and prints, we were able to incorporate surprise in every room, while also achieving our clients’ goals.

From White Eden WeddingsDelphine & Florent got married in his family house on the French Riviera, in this unique light stone house surrounded by olive trees. The couple had to postpone their Spring wedding but managed to host it in August, with a shorter guest list.

The main focus during this extraordinary summer wedding was to revive the joy of living and being together. The vibrant colors, the lush florals, and the glamorous dinner set-up did just that.

The driven attention to detail made this day incredibly meaningful. An all-star team of vendors, including Bottega53 who captured this celebration perfectly, turns it into one of the most sentimental weddings we’ve ever planned.

The farewell brunch design was infused by the French Riviera’s colors with blue patterns linens and local lemons and was a perfect and joyful end to an emotional weekend.
