From The Bride… Two people became one on May 2, 2015, and I wanted the day to show that. I fell in love with my gown when I first saw it. I loved the boning detail and peplum. The boning was defined yet modest. My veil was made by my great grandmother. She had made that for my mother, and my mother tailored it for me for my wedding day.
One of my favorite pieces we had at our wedding was a skull. It came straight from my husband’s property and represented so many memories we had made together and with our families. I knew I wanted it at the wedding, but I decided last minute it couldn’t have been more fitting to have it at the “head” table. The tables were dressed with beautiful antlers and teacups filled with my favorite scent, Capri Blue Aloha Orchid wax from Anthropologie. The jazz band was amazing. From the little ones to teenagers to grandparents, all ages were up on their feet dancing.
It’s hard to write about my favorite memories from this day because there are many to choose from. We got married, outside, in a month when it rained 29 out of the 31 days. The morning started with dressing up with all of my best friends and decorating the reception room. There was one moment I will always remember. The Bride’s Room overlooked the ceremony. The white chairs were aligned perfectly on the freshly rained green lawn, and petals lining the aisle. The floral garland wrapped around the gazebo that I would soon meet my groom. The guests were arriving. My brother-in-law was playing our favorite songs. And my bridesmaids and I were peeking out the window to see everything. Everything was still for that moment, and I was able to take in the beauty of that day.
