Chattahoochee Country Club Wedding from 375 Photography

For those of you who happen to adore glamorous weddings with a side of Southern goodness, this pretty little Chattahoochee Country Club wedding is for you.  And for those of you who happen to love any and all drop-dead gorgeous affairs, well… it’s for you, too.  Because this is a wedding that is sure to tickle all of your elegant-lovin’ fancies with the fab stylings of La Belle Weddings, a breathtaking Sottero and Midgely gown and chandeliers dotting every inch of space.  See all of the pretty captured by 375 Photography right here.

From the Bride… From the moment Jason proposed to me in a helicopter overlooking the Atlanta skyline, I knew I wanted an elegant, yet glamorous affair. I have always loved black and white (take a peek inside my closet!), but wanted to accent them with dark purple and silver for our October wedding. With this idea in mind, I immediately started planning for our big day with the best wedding planner ever, my mom!

After touring several venues, we fell in love with Chattahoochee Country Club on Lake Lanier. It didn’t have that typical country club feel due to the grand Patio Pavilion for our cocktail hour with the stacked stone outdoor fireplace and fountain. The glamorous ballroom had a gorgeous view of the lake with twinkling canopy lights draped from the ceiling that illuminated the chandeliers.

The custom invitations were designed from Etsy and printed by my family’s printing company in order to keep everything local. I love chandeliers, so I incorporated this into our wedding programs and by bringing in a chandelier for the outdoor wedding ceremony. We used billowy white fabric and baby’s breath to create a beautiful focal point for the ceremony that allowed me to capture my Pinterest vision, yet stay within budget.

Keeping in theme with the chandeliers, I wanted my jewelry and my bridesmaids jewelry to really stand out among the crowd. My girls and I wore statement pieces that accentuated the glamorous feel of the wedding and the groom and groomsmen were the perfect Southern gentlemen with cotton boutonnieres.

One of the more special moments of the night was when my brother walked me down the aisle. He is such an inspiration after overcoming many obstacles in his life and I wanted to honor him for all his achievements. He also granted me a brother/sister dance to “Do You Love Me?” from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, my all-time favorite movie!

After our sunset ceremony, guests were treated to our signature cocktails, the Gentlemen and the Blonde. For dinner we served crab cakes, apple smoked pork tenderloin, fried green beans, macaroni and cheese, squash casserole, buttermilk biscuits and many other Southern dishes! The wedding cake consisted of four different flavors of pound cake and the grooms cake highlighted my husband’s love of golf and UGA with two flavors of cheesecake. At the end of the night, servers came back out with homemade oreo cheesecake ice cream and brownie sundaes and homemade pistachio ice cream and cookie sundaes. Needless to say, they were the hit of the late night dance party!

A vintage 1954 white Bentley whisked us away into the night after our sparkler departure. We could not have asked for a more perfect ending to our fairytale wedding!

Southern Tea Party Wedding Inspiration from Evie Perez Photography

I love inspiration shoots.  I love it when a group of talented vendors team up to fill our day with pretty. And when it’s a Southern Tea Party-inspired shoot set against the breathtaking Braselton Stover House? I love it even more.  Because this, SMPers, is a day that simply screams crazy beautiful with lush blooms from Abby’s Floral Design, the fab stylings of Oh So Printable and an entire gallery of amazing from Evie Perez Photography.  Join me there for sooo much more.

From Evie PerezI recently collaborated with some local Atlanta wedding vendors on a styled shoot with a Southern Tea Party theme. We wanted this shoot to be fun but most importantly show off that Southern feel. As you know in the South, porches have a significant meaning on Southern homes. The porch is where people gather to have tea parties, socialize, eat, mingle and drink sweet tea on a daily basis. Especially in the summer months. It’s where you gather with the ones you love and relax. We choose Braselton Stover House as our venue because of the beautiful home as well as the gorgeous columns and porches the home has. Our color palette of mint, peach and blush pink worked perfect against the white house with it’s beautiful columns. Our flowers included David Austin roses in peach and blush pink hues, peach stock, dusty miller, white hydrangeas, ranunculus and pink spray garden roses. The groom’s boutonniere were pink ranunculus and stock.

Crush Vintage Rental collaborated with us to give the shoot an at home feel. Not only are the furniture GORGEOUS, but also so modern and inviting. Our cake was made by Melone from For Goodness Cakes.

Atlanta Wedding at The Four Seasons from Tessa Marie Wedding Photography

I sort of adore traditional weddings.  And when I say “sort of adore,” what I really mean is that I am 100% obsessed.  Maybe that’s because there is really nothing finer than a grand church ceremony followed by a breathtaking ballroom reception… and when it comes to perfecting the traditional pretty, this gorgeous Atlanta wedding has it down pat.  It’s pretty purple hues meets a fab Four Seasons celebration meets one beautiful image after another captured by Tessa Marie Wedding Photography.  See them all in the full gallery.

From Tessa MarieDespite the threat of rain and downpour that delayed the ceremony and kept the entire wedding party on the bus until it passed, Stephanie stayed calm and kept one thing in her focus and that was becoming Chad’s wife.

They celebrated with their guests in the beautiful newly renovated ballrooms of the Four Seasons Hotel in Atlanta and the Moxie Band kept the dance floor absolutely packed all night long.

Ashton Gardens Atlanta Wedding from Three Pennies Photography

Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith.  That goes for everyday life and it goes for planning your wedding.  Like when this darling duo found the perfect venue… a gravel lot under construction with gorgeous surroundings and beautiful plans.  Take a leap of faith?  Yes. They. Did.  And the result was a beyond beautiful affair held at the brand spankin’ new Ashton Gardens in Atlanta, complete with gorgeous florals from Wedding Designs and an entire gallery of lovely from Three Pennies Photography. See it all right here.

From the Bride… Daniel and I had been together for just over 4 years when we got engaged at Jekyll Island on a short weekend getaway. My family’s soul food restaurant made it impossible for me to leave for longer than a weekend, so poor Daniel had to plan our trip around me. We stayed in Savannah, the same city we took our first trip to as a couple, and decided to take a day trip to the beach. After dragging me around the Jekyll Island resort while it was hot and  humid, we finally stopped by the beach to relax before heading back to Savannah. While on the beach, I was being incredibly cranky and having a hard time relaxing while I thought Daniel was napping next to me. I was just about to tell him I was ready to leave when I heard him rustling around next to me. I turned my head and started to prop myself on my elbows when I saw him get up to stand. I was looking up at him and then I saw him reach into his pocket and get something out and as he started to get down on one knee, it dawned on me what was about to happen and Lordy, I started bawling like a baby. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect moment for us, taking a stressful and not ideal situation and turning it into something so beautifully special.

I think we were able to enjoy the being engaged for a total of two days before all the frenzy kicked its way in! After deciding to have a Spring wedding, the venue hunt began. I was feeling so overwhelmed trying to incorporate the wants of both our families and still plan the wedding I envisioned for us. Daniel and I wanted an outdoor wedding because we wanted Daniel’s pit bull Tyson to be able to participate in our wedding but worried about the chance of rain and Georgia’s high pollen count! We happened to stumble across a new venue that had not even been built yet, but had other locations in Texas. We took a chance and visited the gravel lot of the soon to be built chapel and ballroom, and using lots of imagination and risk we decided to sign on for our April wedding with the estimated completion date set for the end of March. Ashton Gardens was exactly what we had hoped for, having a beautiful rustic style chapel that let in a flood of natural light with its floor to ceiling glass windows. The chapel also gave us the desired outdoor feel but with the protection of an indoor venue and they would let Tyson participate in the ceremony.

I am a very detail-oriented individual and tend to get focused on the small details. Luckily Daniel has the keen ability to help me step back and see the big picture, which was crucial to our planning.

Both of us having been raised in the south, wanted a Southern-inspired wedding with some rustic touches, that I wanted to help create. I contacted my florist and personal friend Yuri Kim, of Wedding Designs, to help me execute my vision. Daniel and I agreed that we wanted the sunlight and natural beauty of our venue to be the main focus during the wedding and decided to keep indoor decor to a minimum. This was definitely the case for the rustic Texan inspired chapel, with the dark colored wooden beams and looming windows. I loved how the sunlight was able to flood thru the windows and illuminate the altar where we were standing. Yuri knew I wanted a sweet and romantic setting for the reception, and pulling in the Southern vibe she came up with her own vision of the multi-vase centerpiece I fell in love with. I also had a mission to sneak in my not-so-secret passion for Hello Kitty into our wedding without it appearing childish. I found a porcelain Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel figurine I used as a wedding cake topper and a very subtle Hello Kitty lace ring pillow, but I felt those who knew me best would be looking for something Hello Kitty in our wedding and I could not disappoint. I loved how everything just looked so tied together and harmonious yet not overly girly or childish.

The accents of pink in the reception ballroom perfectly complimented the lush greens and streaming sunlight creating the garden feel we originally wanted with the comforts and glam of an indoor venue. I know there must have been things we missed and mistakes made, but to us it went off without a hitch and I don’t think we could have asked for a more perfect day!

Atlanta Commerce Club Wedding from Thompson Photography Group

Here’s one thing we can all agree on: Atlanta weddings are amazing.  So amazing, in fact, that when a stunning Atlanta soiree comes our way, we flat-out celebrate.  Because if anything deserves a virtual dance party, it’s sweet Southern traditions mix and mingling with drop-dead gorgeous stylings and one of the world’s greatest cities.  Throw in a stunning bride and groom, fab florals from Tulip and a whole host of lovely captured by Thompson Photography Group and, well.  It’s the perfect Wednesday.  Get your pretty on in the full gallery.

From the Bride… Mark and I met and currently live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  The moment we got engaged, I knew we had to tie the knot in my hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.  As Mark’s family and friends come from all over the country and many of my friends are not from Georgia, we knew we had to incorporate as much “Georgia” as possible in our wedding day.  We started with making peach one of our colors.  Our welcome bags had old fashion Coca-Cola bottles, my grandmother’s homemade peanut brittle and other treats from my home state.  We married in one of the oldest and most historical churches in Georgia with a beautiful reception at the Commerce Club that overlooked the Atlanta skyline.  The day was amazing and better than I could have dreamed!

Georgia Wedding at Old Decatur Courthouse from B. Moore Events

Black and white is kind of the king of sophisticated color palettes; the sheer definition of elegant soirees, if you will.  But when you spice up a black and white color palette with bright pops of coral and fab stripe-inspired detailing, that sophisticated color palette goes from crazy cool to crazy amazing.  Case in point? This beautiful soiree from B. Moore Events, which is boasting all of the aforementioned, plus beautiful blooms from Floral Couture and one gorgeous image after another from Milanes Photography.  See them all in the full gallery.

From B. Moore EventsBolu and Ken wanted a black and white wedding with a modern twist, so they added coral to give their wedding some pop! Bolu wanted to add a bit of her culture to the evening and had their bridal party brought in by African dancers at the reception. Although her father was not able to travel cross country for the festivities, her brother was a great stand-in and he walked the tearful Bolu down the aisle.

Atlanta Wedding from Gracie Blue Photography at The Georgian Terrace

Gracie Blue, I simply love you. Because this wedding at The Georgian Terrace? It’s everything I adore about a southern fête sitting pretty in one, gorgeous post – delivered to us all through the stunning images captured by her lens. With a fairytale feel steeped deep in tradition, this gorgeous Bride and her dapper Groom said I do in serious southern style, and you can see every last moment right here in the full gallery of images

From the Bride… Justin and I met a couple years ago at a Karaoke bar, called Fused, in downtown Roswell. I did not want to go out that night, but one of my best friends talked me into going… and I’m VERY glad she did. It all started with my friend going up to sing, she was nervous, so I told her I would make sure people cheered for her. I turned to a group of guys standing near by and asked them to cheer for my friend while she sang. Justin was one of the guys in that group…and the rest is history. He asked for my number and we’ve spent almost every moment together since!

Our Wedding Inspiration… Old Atlanta, to me, is the epitome of southern style and grace. Growing up here, instills in you a since of pride in who you are and where you came from. People from Atlanta, and other places around the south value God, family, and tradition. I grew up here, the home of Gone with the Wind, fantasizing about elegant parties, ball gowns, and meeting my very own Rhett Butler since I was a very small child. I’ll never forget the day my mother took me to see Gone With The Wind, at The Fox Theater downtown, it was an event. I can remember coming out of the theater and looking at the hotel directly across the street. It was beautiful. My mother informed me then that Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh) stayed at the hotel, The Georgian Terrace, after the premier of the movie. Well, that was enough for me, I told my mother right then that I wanted to get married and have my reception at that hotel. I dreamed of my elegant, southern wedding for years and years until my dream finally came true, and it was everything I could have imagined.

We chose our church, Saint Mark United Methodist, mostly because of its vicinity to The Georgian Terrace, but also because it is an old and gorgeous church. It is made of stone, has beautiful red doors, one of the best organs in Atlanta and the most magnificent stained glass windows. I was also lucky enough to have my pastor, Don Martin from Alpharetta First United Methodist, perform the ceremony. This made the event very special.

I wanted my dress to match my old Atlanta theme, therefore I wanted it to be classic, with a little bit of glam. I thought I wanted lace, but the lace gowns I found just weren’t enough. I liked a lot of different dresses, but didn’t love any of them. I was being very indecisive, which is not like me. I was wanting my mom and sisters opinion on everything… until I found THE dress. I came out of the fitting room and told them, “This is it!” It was slightly fitted, full lace, and covered in pearls! Perfect!

When I dreamt of my wedding I mostly pictured myself in my dress, my amazing husband and me at the alter, and the party with friends and family that would come after. I didn’t let myself stress over the little things for our wedding. I knew I would be happy as long as I had those three things: dress, husband, and a great party!

For our color palette, I wanted simple elegance, so the only colors we had were from the black tuxes, black bridesmaids dresses, and white flowers with greenery. It was so perfect. I was very happy with how it turned out.

We introduced a little whimsy with old fashioned bottles of Coca Cola, and bags of Georgia peanuts for our favors. Both are Georgia classics, and when you put the two together, it’s fantastic!

It is almost impossible for me to pick just one or even two of the most memorable moments from my day. I have quite a few. The first would be the morning of the wedding. I was in my hotel suite with only my immediate family, and I knew I would have very few times from here on out when it would be just the four of us in a room together. I gave each of them a card telling them how much they mean to me and how grateful I was to have them in my life. There were many happy tears that morning.

Then, I would have to say the second most memorable were the butterflies of excitement that I felt when Justin and I held hands without seeing each other before the wedding.

My 1st…and SECOND walk down the aisle. Long story short, they forgot to send the groom down the aisle so, I got to make two entrances. We had a great crowd, it was not what I had pictured, but perfect nonetheless.

Finally, our party afterwards! I can honestly say I have never seen that many people on the dance floor for an entire reception, EVER! It was a blast!!!

My advice for Future Brides… Savor every moment, it is a magical day, and is over far too quickly. No matter what goes wrong on your big day, as you wake up to the man you love as a married woman the next day, it went perfectly! If you are lucky enough to have photos like mine, you will be able to look at them over and over again to relive the big day.

Georgia Wedding at Foxhall Sporting Club from Claudia McDade Photography

Georgia, Georgia, Georgia. You have weddings down pat. It’s as if all the Brides in your pretty parts have a magic wand to wave over their days and create the most perfect of parties filled with sentiment…they almost appears effortless. Now, I know that isn’t the case, but weddings like this one captured by Claudia McDade Photography make me feel like I am seriously missing out on some Georgia girl secrets. But this wedding? It’s simply filled with too much heart to have succumbed to the wave of a magic wand, and that makes me love it even more. See all the pretty here.

From the Bride… The happiest day of our lives– For Michael and myself, it was our dream to have an outdoor wedding. Being stationed in Ft. Benning, Georgia allowed us to seek that dream in the lovely and ever-so-charming Georgia. We faced many challenges in realizing our wedding and it took us about 2 years to finally see the wonderful day. My husband unfortunately faced post deployment hardships that made it a bit difficult to continue with our wedding plans; his mental health overruled and became significantly important. With all the trials and tribulations we faced, his betterment came as a blessing to us and our lives were back to normal by December of 2012. We decided to give our Big Day another go. Our wedding meant that much more to us because we had endured so much in so little time. It would be a day to share with our friends and family; the love and loyalty we share for one another. It was to be a symbol of our love for one another and in this, sharing with our loved ones who stood by our side through one of the toughest times of our lives.

Our theme would be Romantic with a palette of blush, gold and hints of sea-foam. We were so blessed to find such wonderful vendors the second time around! I was more than happy to add to it with my tiny touches for the stationery. All our vendors worked with us in making our dreams come true.

It was finally here! Our Big Day! We are so honored to have had such a wonderful team coordinate, plan and decorate our wedding. It took a large burden off our shoulders and allowed us to truly take in the small moments that pass us by so quickly. We had family and friends come from all over the States and other countries to share in our love at the Foxhall Resort and Sporting Club in Douglasville, Georgia. What beautiful lush scenery awaited us. The day was so serene and gorgeous. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. It was perfect! We were so thrilled to share our vows with everyone and celebrate! The food was delicious along with the cake and drinks. It was all smiles for us as we danced the night away.

Backyard Wedding Celebration in Georgia from Marianne Brown Photography

Backyard weddings have come a long way, and after soaking up every last gorgeous bit of this perfect Georgia soiree, I think you’ll agree. Because this beautiful celebration is perfect amounts pretty and personal, and it was all planned to perfection by Firefly. With Marianne Brown Photography behind the lens capturing every magical moment, it goes without saying this gallery is a must see today. See it all here.

From the Bride… For my wedding, I could not think of a better place than my parents’ back yard. I grew up on this beautiful property in South Georgia, surrounded by farm land and this natural lake in our backyard. I wanted the feeling of home and garden, while still incorporating something for ‘the guys.’ The theme seemed to run true with garden and outdoors, and a combination of birdhouses, flowers, deer antlers, and hunting paraphernalia. My Mom and family helped with most of the decorations. We did end up having our ceremony at our church because of weather concerns, the small Episcopal church where our family has always attended. A true South Georgia wedding- it was more than I could have hoped for.

Atlanta Wedding from B. Moore Events

This wedding makes me happy.  Makes me happy with its adorable duo, breathtaking setting and crazy gorgeous details.  Which is no surprise, really, since it comes straight from the planning genius that is B. Moore Events and is overflowing with the fab stylings of Akeem Clayton Design and sooo much pretty, you won’t know what to do with yourselves.  And the gallery from Scobey Photography?  Just as amazing. Join me there for all of the lovely.

From B. Moore Events… Candace and Kofi wanted a rustic wedding with a formal flair.  The Foundry at Puritan Mill is the perfect venue for any transformation.  We took lanterns, moss and peach trees and gave them a more formal edge with a mixture of estate tables and rounds with different looks for each.  The couple also wanted to fuse their cultures.  She is a Southern girl and he is Ghanaian.  We were able to mix them beautifully through the food.  They had a morning wedding and brunch style reception overflowing with food from both cultures.

Savannah Wedding from Clane Gessel + Morgan Gallo Events

Savannah, Georgia is like this crazy gorgeous place where wedding dreams go to come true.  Where Southern charm and vintage details play hand and hand with heartwarming moments and the most breathtaking of settings.  Put simply, Savannah weddings rock, a statement that was never more true than with today’s gorgeous affair planned to absolute perfection by Morgan Gallo Events.  It’s the stunning beauty of Savannah mixed with a whole host of magical details and an oh-so-stylish bride and groom. See it all captured perfectly by Clane Gessel right here.

From the Bride… We met in Seattle, Washington in March, 2011. Oddly enough, 6 months earlier I was given Don’s number by our friend Paul Sabovik, so that we could join efforts in our apartment searches and become roommates.  Don decided to ignore my voicemail where I introduced myself and asked him to coffee, and when we finally did meet 6 months later, the first words out of my mouth after he introduced himself were “You never called me back.” I saw him again later that month at The Amazing Egg Hunt, in Mukilteo, WA, which he helped organize with Paul Sabovik Presents, and I spent the entire day trying to get hints as to where the hidden eggs were, and later that day we shared our first kiss while he was dressed up as the Easter bunny, mask and all. A few days later we had our first date at the Seattle Space Needle, where we shared a cup of coffee… from that point on we dated, and fell into an immediate rhythm and the rest is history.

We moved to New York City together after only 4 months of dating, and Don proposed to me during the firework display in the Italy pavilion in Epcot, Walt Disney World. Walt Disney World in Florida was a significant place to us because many years before, I worked in the theme park, and became close friends with Paul Sabovik… Who later was the reason I decided to move to Seattle, where he eventually introduced me to Don.

Decatur Wedding at The Solarium from Anne Almasy

There are so many, many reasons I adore this darling Decatur wedding, if I sat down and listed them all, I’d fill up an entire notebook worth of prettiness.  Not that I wouldn’t love spending my day gushing over the sweet details bursting from every image captured by Anne Almasy… I plan on doing that anyway. Because this is the kind of wedding that completely captured every ounce of your attention with lush, DIY florals, an elegant BCBGMAXAZRIA gown and a Solarium reception that will take your breath away. See it all in the full gallery.

From Anne AlmasyLindsey, a user experience researcher, and Darin, a pilot, both love good company, good drinks, coffee in the park, crossword puzzles, leisurely mornings, brunch, dark bars, live music, yoga, kickboxing, travel, seeing the world, and Ernest Hemingway. They agree that the glass is half full. And, in their words, they were “really, really, really excited to be married!”

Lindsey and Darin wanted their wedding to be small enough to be intimate, but large enough to include everyone who should be there. They wanted a familial atmosphere, very cozy and conversational. “Sure,” they said, “it’s about us, our marriage and our commitment to one another, but it’s also about celebrating the amazing (and they are truly amazing) people in our lives, now connected through us.”

Marietta Georgia Wedding from Twin Hearts Photography

This darling bride makes me happy.  And once you read her sweet description of the day, you will most definitely agree.  Because even though the weather forecast was a solid 100% chance of rain (yes, 100%!), you would never have guessed it from her uber-bubbly, uber-smiley personality.  And let’s face it, rainy day weddings are the best, anyway… don’t you agree?  Twin Hearts Photography was on hand to capture every love-filled moment and it’s a gallery chock-full of sweet DIY details and a whole lot of pretty.  Join me there for every ounce of lovely.

From the Bride… Navy is my favorite color and one of my many inspirations for the day! Believe it or not, I had a difficult time finding pictures of weddings that incorporated navy without feeling too “nautical.” I wanted an outdoor wedding that brought preppy to the table with a little rustic flair. Many of the details were thought of over glasses of wine with friends and of course, my best wedding planner of all, my mom!

Wade and I got engaged May of 2012 and I couldn’t wait to begin planning! The reception venue is the home of my parents’ very best friends and that was the first thing checked off the list! Next, I wanted to find a dress, because I felt that my dress would influence many of my decisions moving forward. I found the dress at White Dress by the shore (a fabulous boutique in Clinton, Connecticut with the most beautiful location and friendliest staff to wait on you hand and foot!).

The bridesmaids’ dresses were next on the list and while I absolutely love them, the designer (Emma Graham) went out of business this Spring.

So many of the details were projects I worked on over the course of the year or things I borrowed from friends and family. My sister crafted all of the chalkboards and I worked on custom wine labels that I would stick on our many bottles of Chardonnay. Since we were married on Kentucky Derby Day, the flowers were arranged in Mint Julep cups that I collected from friends! I also borrowed the classic Southern blue and white china vases from our friends in Marietta! The Jack Daniels barrels came from a friend’s farm in Nashville. Wade and I graduated from the University of Georgia and he insisted on having UGA as his cake! My grandmother also found a beautiful brooch from her mom that I was so excited to use as a part of my bouquet! The spirit of family and love could be felt throughout the evening!

Keeping in Southern tradition, the food cannot be overlooked! Epting Events truly outdid themselves with short ribs, mashed potatoes and spinach gratin. They put together two small plate stations- one with four different types of salads and the other, a pork tenderloin slider with grits and green beans. Shrimp cocktail, orzo salad with asparagus, tomato and mozzarella… just delicious!

But most of all, I wanted my wedding to feel like a party. Not stuffy or “over planned.” When we received the 100% chance of rain, I just went with it! We bought lots of flip flops so everyone could dance and not ruin their shoes. I had my sister design the chalkboard reminding everyone that it’s 100% going to rain, so just have fun! We went from an outdoor wedding to a clear tent wedding and it was just amazing. You could see the pouring rain hitting the tent and with the lights, it was simply magical. It turned out to be quite a memorable event and everyone stayed until the last song was played by the band! Oh, and the cops were called three times because we were having so much fun!

Savannah Wedding from Morgan Gallo Events + Memories N More

We’ve swooned over a Savannah wedding a time or two on SMP, and for good reason – they are always show-stoppers. Maybe it’s the spanish moss, perhaps it’s the southern charm, but I happen to think it’s the people that are attracted to that beautiful city that truly make it special. People like the ones who fill the gorgeous images by Memories N More at this stunning soiree planned to perfection by the Bride and Morgan Gallo Events. It all makes for a gallery of images too pretty to miss, so make sure you catch them all here.

From the Bride… One of my favorite details from the wedding was our favors. My cousin hand-made soap that we wrapped and labeled. We also had our favorite coffee flown in from my hometown. I also loved what our calligrapher did– hand written escort cards on gold DIY doilys, a sign that read “Love is Brewing” for the coffee favor display, and custom signs of Savannah streets for table names.

Our favorite memory was after we left the reception. Following a sparkler exit, we decompressed in the back of a horse-drawn carriage that took us around downtown Savannah. The day had been unusually warm for December so it was a balmy night for a carriage ride. It was our first opportunity to be alone together all day, so we just leaned into each other, took in the surroundings, listened to hooves on the pavement and soaked the day in!

A little advice to future brides: Make sure you have a protein bar or a banana because at some point during the day, you’re going to need a quick reboot! And… Don’t sweat the small problems or details. All you really need for a successful wedding (and marriage!) is you and your fiancé(e).

Monroe, Georgia DIY Wedding from Holly L. Robbins Photography

When rustic chic details mix and mingle with sweet crafty goodness, amazing things happen.  Amazing things like DIY florals by the bride’s talented grandmother, mason jar filled tabletops and a downright awesome mac ‘n’ cheese bar.  And when all of those amazing things take place at the breathtaking Fair Weather Farms and are captured in beautiful images by Holly L. Robbins, even better.  Because that, my friends, is a combo that makes for one seriously gorgeous gallery.  Join me there for all of the pretty.

From the Bride… Jeff and I were engaged in February in Temple, Texas and were immediately planning details for our December 1st wedding. At the time we were planning to move back to my hometown in Georgia. We knew that we wanted a intimate wedding ceremony in Georgia that included lots of small family details. Thankfully my mother and sister started looking for venues and came across Fair Weather Farms in Monroe, Georgia. The farm just so happened to sit on land that my grandfather used to farm as a young boy and was exactly the cozy atmosphere we wanted!

Our wedding turned into a large DIY project really fast. The main things that I wanted throughout the wedding were cotton, family antiques, and cheese graters. My grandmother thought I was crazy when I said I wanted cotton and family brooches in the bouquets. All of the floral arrangements turned out beautifully because of her! My father made all of the signs and menus throughout the event and I wrote all of the sayings. My father also made our wedding box out of old wood that we put letters and a bottle of wedding wine to open on a future anniversary. The hammer we used for the box was from my grandfather. All of the cheese graters on the tables for the reception came from family members. It was plethora of family things!

The day of our Fair Weather Farms wedding we had warm weather, even in December. We ended up having our closest family and friends from all over totaling 120 guests… it was small and intimate! I think the most nerve-racking part of the day was our First Look. I gave Jeff a handkerchief that said “In you have I have the love of my life and my closest truest friend.” We were married in the evening with doors open to the house and have never felt more confident in vows! A funny detail of the wedding: I decided it would be better if we nailed the wedding box together, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do it! On the third nail it bent more than halfway over and the entire room laughed! Jeff finished the box after that. Our reception was a big party with amazing food, including a macaroni and cheese bar (my favorite!), fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, s’mores station and more traditional Southern food.

We couldn’t be more blessed to have such amazing families that were able to pull together our unforgettable wedding. Our photographer, Holly Robbins, blessed us with amazing photos that I still cry like a baby over three months later. Overall our wedding was such an easy going and love filled day, exactly how we envisioned the beginning of our happily ever!

Nontra + Stephen Wedding from the reason on Vimeo.

From the Bride… Steve and I live in Los Angeles, but since we’re both from the East Coast we decided to have our wedding closer to our friends and family at home. We had both attended the Savannah College of Art & Design at the same time, although we didn’t meet each other until 2009 in California through mutual friends. We decided to get married in Savannah since the city has special meaning to both of us and is centrally located between our families (mine are in Maryland, his are in Florida and New York). Plus, who doesn’t love historic Savannah as a wedding destination?

When it came time to choosing a venue we were looking for a place with plenty of room and LOTS of character. We found the Georgia State Railroad Museum (formerly the “Roundhouse Railroad Museum”) online, visited the site a few weeks later, and fell in love with the space. The entire property is such a historic landmark to Savannah and had plenty of space for us to have the ceremony as well as the reception. Plus it had the rustic feel we were looking for. Steve and I knew we wanted a crafty wedding, but we also wanted it to be modern and fun through the use of bright colors and type, rather than a vintage feeling. Turquoise is one of our favorite colors, so we went with an ombre’ of blues and greens for the wedding palette.

The rest of planning fell into place pretty easily. I am a Fashion and Graphic Designer, so I had pretty specific ideas for our BIG DAY. Steve just let me run with it, giving input when and where he needed to. Since we were mostly paying for the wedding ourselves, we wanted to do as much of the planning and decor on our own to save money. We had a 14 month engagement and were drowning in fabric and kraft paper the entire time! From screen-printing dish cloths, to folding poof-balls (we made almost 300!), to building cake stands… we did it all and had a blast.

Since neither one of us is very religious, it was important that the ceremony represented us as a couple- laid back and FUN. We wrote our own ceremony which was short and personal. After the cocktail hour the guests were welcomed with champagne sorbet for the reception. The food- a Southern BBQ buffet- was excellent. We had a spread of Southern-flavored cupcakes for dessert: Red Velvet, Coconut, Banana, Apple Spice, and Peach Vanilla. Gifts (which included rock candy, shot glasses, Jordan almonds, and personalized napkins) were wrapped up in a berry basket. The DJ was incredible and the photo booth was a hit. We love to dance and drink, and that’s exactly what we did! It was a PARTY.

Everything couldn’t have happened without the help of our family and friends. My mom did all 75 floral arrangements scattered throughout the reception. Steve’s parents and family friends from New York hung all of our decorations that morning. A friend built and delivered our arbor from South Carolina. It was a wedding built from love and every detail represented us. All of our vendors were amazing and we couldn’t have imagined everything turning out any better. It really was the most perfect day ever.

Lakemont, Georgia Wedding from Mark Elkins Photography

I kind of live for weddings like this.  Weddings that are the perfect combination of laid-back and whimsical, with a dash of DIY thrown in for good measure.  Weddings that turn simple mason jars into chalkboard-infused cocktail carriers and BBQ and s’mores into the perfect wedding yumminess.  It’s a day that joins one darling duo with the perfect stylings of Sittin in a Tree Weddings and a whole lot of pretty captured by Mark Elkins Photography.  See it all in the full gallery.

From the Bride… I wanted our wedding to be a perfect reflection of everything Chas and I are – laid back and fun- no stuffiness allowed! For us, this meant an outdoor wedding, barn reception, BBQ and s’mores! We had a pretty tight budget, but didn’t want that to limit the possibilities for our wedding, so we took on a lot of DIY projects. Looking back, we might have taken on a few too many projects, but they all came together in the end to help create my dream wedding. I liked the projects so much I even opened my own Etsy shop after the wedding, so I could keep crafting!

The DIY crafts started from the very beginning- we designed, printed and assembled our wedding invitations ourselves. My mom sewed the bridesmaids’ dresses, and even made me a coordinating one that I wore while getting ready! I made the belt for my dress and borrowed my sister’s veil. My hubby Chas put all of our wedding signage together himself, and I painted and finished them. One of my wonderful bridesmaids helped make all of the chalkboard mason jar glasses. Our ceremony altar was built by my dad, and covered in pinwheels my sister and I made. We worked with the preacher to create a ceremony that we felt represented us and our relationship. It was truly a beautiful ceremony.

We incorporated a lot of DIY details for our reception, as well.  I sewed our wedding cake topper and also refinished an antique desk that belonged to my late grandmother to use as our dessert table, which we then topped with some of our families’ favorite desserts! We had BBQ for dinner at the reception, complete with a BBQ sauce bar with different sauces – my mom’s homemade sauce, the delicious sauce from our favorite restaurant (Fox Bros BBQ in Atlanta) and a North Carolina style sauce to represent Chas’ side of the family! Even our rehearsal dinner the night before was a low country boil to incorporate my Louisiana roots! We ended the evening with a s’mores station complete with a bonfire log and sparklers!

My favorite part of the day was our First Look before the ceremony. It was so nice to take a few minutes to see my man and catch my breath before the ceremony began!

Mint + Gold Inspired Photo Shoot from Paige Jones + Gertie Mae’s Floral Studio

It just so happens that mint and gold is my favorite color palette of the moment. I love to wear it, decorate with it, and who wouldn’t love a party planned around it? So the minute this inspiration shoot from Paige Jones and Gertie Mae’s Floral Studio hit my inbox, you better believe I was smitten as a blogging kitten. With details galore and a team of top-notch vendors, I think we can all agree this photo shoot is one for the books.

From Paige Jones CoI had been dreaming up a mint and gold inspired shoot for a while. I loved the color combination and wanted to bring to life a playful wedding scene in these hues. My only other must was an ice cream bar in some way, shape or form. I enlisted Atlanta-based planner and designer Kristine Cholakian of Simply Charming Socials to hash out all the details and together we created something spectacular.

Nestled in historic downtown Marietta, GA, The Brickyard offered the perfect urban backdrop for this inspired shoot. It’s concrete floor and white brick walls are the perfect blank slate. The venue houses a large metal hoop dropped from the rafters, where designers and brides can flaunt their creativity by hanging any number of decor pieces. For this shoot, the geometric shape of the ice cream cone was continued throughout, in both literal and abstract forms. Both plain white and gilded paper cones cascaded in a semi-circle, creating an asymmetrical alter for the bride and groom. Over 200 cones almost float in mid air and frame the couple with a touch of sparkle. Spanning 10 feet wide and 14 feet tall, the scale of the installation was impressive, but yet delicate all the same. The sweetheart table came next, where the focal point was a bright display of floral artistry from Gertie Mae’s Floral Studio. Sherry choose the most eye-catching and colorful botanicals she could find to build this beautiful centerpiece in a geometric gold bowl. The table, provided by rental company Goodwin Events, was dressed with a custom dyed ombre mint linen. Goodwin also offered beautiful gold chiavari chairs with white cushions to tie in the theme. The couples place settings were an eclectic mixed of dishes and glasses and were tied together by a hand-painted striped napkins, courtesy of Simply Charming Socials.

Post ceremony, guests would be directed to a striking display of the magnetic escort wall. 64 mint colored cones each gently held a single bright bloom and small flag with the guests name. Flowers included poppies, bi-colored parrot tulips, anemones, lilac, ranunculus, baronia, hot meringue rose, and muscari. The idea was to use the already-existing magnetic feature of the venue to create art gallery-like display, that would not only be functional, but visually sensational.  After dinner, guest would enjoy dessert at the Ice Cream Bar. Custom dyed mint panels created a bright backdrop while a beautiful garland of greenery and florals framed gold letter signage. Eatable gold-dipped waffles cones, jimmy-encrusted sugar cones, painted paper cones, and bright ceramic bowls could be topped and filled with a choice of many flavors of artisan ice cream. Countless sprinkle options and toppings galore rounded out the spread. The bride and groom enjoyed a special treat: a sundae of their favorite flavors covered in chocolate syrup with a cherry on top.

Custom paper goods design company Charlotte Lane created a hand-painted invitation suite for this shoot. Watercolored mint triangles and touches of gold splash the paper and incorporate the geometric feel that is carried throughout the event. With hand lettering on both invite and response card, the suite is playful, yet formal. Gold-lined navy and blush envelopes round out the color palate. Real couple and newlyweds Amanda and Brandon played bride and groom for the day. Navy suspenders, a mint striped tie, and bright boutonniere added a pop of fun to Brandon’s gray suit. Amanda donned a short tulle dressed designed by Chaviano Couture, that could only be described as fluffy and flirty. Her ensemble was accented by mint-colored jewelry and shoes. She held a full bouquet of colorful blooms, dripping with mint and gold ribbon. Talented and sweet hair and make-up artist Claudia Mejerle gave our bride a short curly bob with lots of volume, a fresh face with long lashes, and an array of bold lip colors. A fun feature: the bride switched up her lipstick throughout the event, from crimson to magenta to hot peach.
