I had the pleasure of spending a ton of time in Florida as a child, and it’s one of those places that I hold dear to my heart. Chock full of fantastic memories, complete with balmy weather and sunshine almost year round, it’s one of those spots I’d be happy to return to again and again. And until that moment presents itself once more, I’ll soak up the Florida sun through Jeremy Harwell’s gorgeous photos. Heading to the Keys yourself anytime soon? Don’t miss a few of his tips below! And be sure to spend some time in the gallery for a dose of vitamin D.
From Jeremy… I had such an amazing time in the Florida Keys visiting my baby sister and her husband! My son, Jack, caught his first sailfish which he was pretty excited about, and we saw such beauty, from exotic birds to the sweet “key deer” (who are the size of a small dog.)
We also got to tour one of my most beloved writers homes, Ernest Hemingway! We even saw the famous six-toed cats which are direct descendants of Hemingway’s cats. It was truly a magical trip, I hope you enjoy the images!
Places to stay: Checca Lodge is the best!
Places to eat: Morada Bay for Lunch (it’s a beautiful little lunch place right on the water). Kaiyo, Green Turtle and Pierre’s are amazing spots for dinner! In Key West, head to Commodore for lunch. It’s right on the marina with excellent views of all of the boards coming in with their fresh catch. For dinner? Louie’s Backyard, Antonia’s for Italian and El Siboney for incredible Cuban food.
I also really recommend sailfishing! We went with Fins & Feathers and it was incredible.
