Romantic Blithewold Mansion & Gardens Wedding

This, my loves, is how you have a garden wedding. From the scenic setting and gardens of Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum to the Bride’s stunning blush gown with delicately beaded cap-sleeves, this affair looks straight out of a fairytale. And when you have Tiffany Medrano Photography to capture the Prince and Princess, the photos are an absolute dream come true. See them all here.

From Tiffany Medrano Photography… Annie and Tom were married on the most perfect day of Spring, in the presence of their friends and family. They planned their wedding from Texas, choosing to have the festivities take place in New England where Annie grew up. The ceremony was held in one of the many gardens of the Blithewold Mansion in Bristol, Rhode Island.

Through my correspondence with Annie I learned that she was very much inspired by the gardens at Blithewold and so on the day of their wedding we made sure to take time to explore the grounds. Rays of sun poured through the trees and the flowers were in full bloom. Annie’s smile for Tom was continuous throughout the day. It perfectly complimented her romantic, lighter than air, blush-Champagne colored wedding gown. The sun was setting as I watched them walk hand in hand towards the reception and I was reminded of a prince and princess stepping out of a fairy tail to live happily ever after.

Boho Chic Wedding in Rhode Island

Would you believe me if I told you this couple found their venue through a vacation rental website? Yeah, with that said I’m going to just come out and say it – Rhode Island is magic. Set on a tiny laid-back island, this oh-so-romantic fete is the ultimate dreamy bohemian bash. Marrying handmade details with sweet moments underneath a Newport TentPaige Jones has it all waiting for you here!

From the beautiful Bride… Rhode Island is a very special place to us. It’s where I grew up and is a place that has always represented a sense of pristine peace and natural beauty. Grant and I have spent many weekends exploring the coastline, SUPing to hidden beaches and soaking up the Ocean State sun.

When Grant and I got engaged, we knew we wanted to share this special environment with all of our loved ones and we were determined to find the perfect place in Jamestown. Located directly across from Newport, Jamestown is a tiny laid-back island and beach community with an artsy, bohemian vibe.

We were on the hunt for a rustic property to rent on the water, with a big yard that we could use as a backdrop for our wedding day. After days of searching on VRBO we were fortunate enough to find our dream location that offered us the ideal setting for a ceremony and reception, had a bonfire pit overlooking the ocean and included a dramatic 3 floor artists loft-like studio–too good to be true!

We instantly decided that not only should we host our wedding on the property, but I was excited to create an intimate setting for our rehearsal dinner, where I envisioned transforming the top floor of the loft, which had an extraordinary vantage point of Narragansett Bay from all sides, into a magical eclectic ambiance.

It was important to us that our rehearsal and wedding atmosphere represent “us,” and so we kept it casual but worked hard to add personal, simple touches to just about everything (see below). We took inspiration from our travels and the natural environment we were surrounded by to create the most dreamy outdoor bohemian bash.

While our vision came to life and the entire weekend exceeded our expectations (without a wedding planner!), the most memorable part of it all was standing in front of the people we love most in this world and committing our hand-written vows to one another, all while the sun was beaming in our faces and ocean breeze was blowing in our hair. And to top that off, my husband surprised me with an original song he wrote and played it, in a trio, with my dad and brother. Check out our wedding video to see the performance!

PERSONAL / HANDMADE (REHEARSAL DINNER)
• Hand blocked table clothes from India for our rehearsal dinner
• Grant and the guys draped vines around the beams (my vision)
• I arranged the flowers in mason jars with the girls
• I stamped all of the name tags and tied them around the flatware
• A friend helped me design the menus (I sketched the image)
• My mom and I collected the glass jars and candles

PERSONAL / HANDMADE (WEDDING)
• I customized my dress by Stone Fox Bride
• Grant’s step-dad is a wood worker and calligrapher. He made every wooden flower box and wooden table number holder for the tables (36 in all!), wooden stumps for the seating area, wooden signs, dinner menu board, aisles markers made of branches and mason jars
• I bought and cut all of the burlap for the tables with Grant’s mom
• A friend helped me design our invitation and wedding collateral (I sketched the designs)
• My dad and I hand stained all of the chalkboards and my MOH showcased her master calligraphy with beautiful lettering
• Grant and I made CD’s with our favorite songs. We got a custom stamp made and my dad sketched the 2 trees we walked through during the ceremony that we included on the packaging
• We brought in some of our own rugs and pillows we picked up in Istanbul to create a funky seating area and even hung a hammock inspired by our trip to Nicaragua
• Grant loves beer and hand-picked assortment of his favorite craft beers for the bar
• We chose fish tacos for dinner (our favorite!)
• Grant and I love dessert, especially ice cream and cookies. We had an ice cream sandwich bar with handmade cookies (from a family friend / baker) and our favorite local ice cream (Brickley’s Ice Cream)
• I worked very closely with the florist to assure the flowers were not perfect, rather a bit messy and hand-picked looking
• My dad planted succulents in smaller wooden boxes to use as accents on the cocktail tables and seating area
• We ditched the traditional bride / groom wedding gifts and decided to use a piece of wood from the property get a hand-crafted dream catcher created. It hung during our wedding day and now hangs above our bed.
• I scored a cool old wooden frame from a local flea market (For $10!), strung it with burlap and clothes pins to use as our seating chart
• Our family friends own an art gallery in Rhode Island and lent us all of the easels
• My bridesmaid works in a NYC restaurant and lent me the bistro napkins for all of the tables

Rhode Island Backyard Wedding

Folks, this is a special one.  It’s the kind of wedding that truly overflows with love, from not only the couple (their proposal story is so incredibly sweet) but every single person that surrounded them on their big day. It was a glorious family affair planned by True Event at Bride’s childhood home, and it’s all made even more heart warming by the fact that her father built that beauty with his very own hands. Josh Adam Photography and Long Haul Films were on hand to make sure not a moment of this magical day was missed, and you can see it all unfold here.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/108295597 600 338]

From the Bridesmaids… Alexandra and Mark’s love story unfolded while attending Union College together, finding a missing piece of themselves in each other, and holding on to it tightly. Over ten years of playing each other’s better halves, they formed a bond unlike any other. Ups and downs that life presented confirmed their connection to be unbreakable. Through simple challenges that young love presents, to trying times of loss, Mark and Alex proved to be one another’s strongest ally and greatest friend.

Mark proposed romantically upon the steps of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston while taking their beloved pups for a walk. An ecstatic Alexandra was overcome with joy upon spotting both of their families on-looking nearby — including her brother, who had flown in all the way from Aspen just to share in the excitement. Alex had questioned her sanity earlier in the day, when she fell from her bike after being shaken by the possibility that she saw her brother drive by on her way home from school. Thanks to Mark’s careful planning, it was in fact him that she spotted, a coincidental glitch that would make their engagement story that much sweeter.

The setting for their summer wedding was to be the Sparks’ family home, a sprawling, yet remarkably cozy house built by Alex’s father’s own hands, in Little Compton, Rhode Island. With the beach blocks away and a perfectly breezy summer night, it would be the epitome of a romantic backyard wedding. The classic elegance of each carefully selected element would result in a wedding much like the couple themselves – inviting, elegant, warm, and timeless. From the packed, cozy chapel, to the endless energy on the dance floor, the bride and groom were surrounded by an undeniable outpouring of love from friends and family that were so excited to be celebrating the beginning of their journey as Mr. and Mrs.

The majestic tent outside the Sparks’ home set the stage for a night of delicious food (complete with funfetti cake), heartfelt speeches, and bare feet on the dance floor. The special touches that echoed the bride and grooms personalities included a Del’s lemonade cart, S’mores bar around the fire, hand passed Dark n’ Stormys, and a raw bar as long as the eye could see. The beautifully distressed farm tables lent the perfect backdrop to a tablescape dotted with unique blue and white ceramics, gorgeous hydrangeas, roses, and scattered succulents. The candlelight sprinkled throughout illuminated happy faces and added to the warm glow.

The love between this couple was palpable at all moments throughout this celebration – their exuberant personalities and warmth was infectious to all of their guests. It was hard to believe when the band played their final song because time had flown by so quickly dancing the night away beneath the sailcloth tent. There wasn’t a single detail overlooked, or a moment that wasn’t made special – this was a truly magical celebration of an exceptional couple.

Elegant Silver + Champagne Rhode Island Wedding

Set inside a gorgeous ballroom, overflowing with sparkling blush details, and helmed by a hilarious Groom and princess-lookalike Bride, there’s no way that this wedding from Eventfully Planned wasn’t going to be one for the books. After they said “I Do,” the Boston Common Band had guests dancing all night long, while M. Studios caught it all in the gallery right here. We know you want to, so take a peek!

From M. StudiosThey met at a bar called Snickers. Years later they married at Belle Mer. Along the way Jen and John had many adventures and fell madly in love with each other. Their wedding day invoked the beauty, romance and happiness that these two share. Jaime at Eventfully Planned made sure that no detail was left unattended which made our job that much easier. It also didn’t hurt that the talented makeup artists at Jennie Kay Beauty transformed Jen into the most beautiful Disney Princess. We are sure this isn’t the look Jen went into her makeup trial asking for but take a look at this stunning beauty and tell us that she’s not the fairest of them all! Some people say that all the groom has to do is show up on the wedding day, not THIS groom! John was just as involved as Jen. He knew the timeline by heart and kept us all on track and in stitches. This guy is truly the life of the party and so, so nice.

Before we even arrived at Belle Mer we traveled all around Newport with the talented David Bettencourt shooting video. Beginning at the Mill Street Inn, a former nineteenth century mill that combines historic charm with today’s modern luxuries, we captured the delicate details of Jen’s styling. John was a few suites away and we witnessed a sweet exchange of gifts between the bride and groom. We took a quick walk over to the grounds of Trinity Church for a first look and some formal portraits with the wedding party and then moved on to Ochre Court at Salve Regina. This stunning building serves as the administration building for the university but it’s like no administration building you’ve ever been to. Nestled among the incredible mansions of Newport’s Bellevue Avenue, Ochre Court was once the summer residence of a prominent New York banker. With hushed tones John and Jen stole some quiet moments and a private dance surrounded by details inspired by French Gothic chateaux and churches.

Next was Belle Mere for the ceremony with the sea and the Newport Bridge as the backdrop. Guests are always blown away by this venue. It’s absolutely breathtaking. Blooms by Broadway Florist enhanced the beauty of the cocktail hour and reception while the Boston Common Band had all of the guests dancing and partying into the night. To say we like this couple would be and understatement. We LOVE this couple!!

Industrial Vintage Rhode Island Wedding

I have a habit of buying fresh flowers when I need a little pick-me-up, but this florist’s arrangements for her own wedding had the same effect. Lush, but with a modern, edgy vibe, the floral design at this wedding is simply stunning. Check out all the gorgeous details (flowers included), captured by Erin McGinn in the gallery for some serious inspiration.

From Erin McGinnStephanie and Jay’s unique, handmade wedding at the Flowers by Semia Studio in the Steel Yard was perfect for their style! So many design details, it was a photographers dream.

From the beautiful BrideWe hesitated for months after the proposal to figure out what we wanted for our wedding.. did we want to elope? Did we want an intimate wedding at our favorite park and then a small restaurant reception? We knew we didn’t want a big wedding and we had a pretty tight budget. I just so happened to be working with Semia on some calligraphy projects when we basically both said out loud at the same time, “WHAT IF YOU HAD THE WEDDING HERE??!!?!” and that was it. The rest was easy.

Jay and I are sweet with a little roughness around the edges, which is exactly how I feel the venue space is. So as far as décor and theme, that was it! Sweet with a little roughness. When I designed the invites, I knew they had to be cool with pops of graphic pattern (with a little hint of glitz), and that’s basically how everything else transitioned into place. The décor had a feeling of vintage meets nature, using a variety of old found objects and fresh plants and floral. The space at FBS and the Steel Yard sets the perfect backdrop so there’s no point in trying to reinvent the wheel. The other important factor is that was fourth of July weekend, so I felt that light should play an important part in the décor. From strung globe cafe lights to tons of candles, to gold glitter here and there (it was even on my dress), to end of the night sparklers, and even a pearlized finish on our macaroons, everything reflected light.

Being a floral designer all these years, how do you pick what flowers you want to use? I couldn’t! So I started the design with light and planned on waiting until 3 days before the wedding to walk into the flower market in Boston and see what they had there to inspire me! What I ended up with were deep, almost black aubergines purples, soft grey tones and pops of dusty blue. Juxtaposing the florals with my favorite cactus and succulent plants, along with some glitter glassware, antique objects and geometric pattern was my ultimate dream come to life!

Coastal Rhode Island Wedding

If you’re looking for a gorgeous New England wedding, a coastal wedding or a nautical themed wedding, look no further! From subtle nods to Rhode Island (the cocktail napkins are a can’t miss) to the casual reception tent from Newport Tent Company with string lights, this wedding blends all the pretty into one. With the help of Lisa Frechette Photography, this romantic affair has details here you must see!

From The Bride…After eight years of being friends, four and a half years of long-distance dating (and countless trips between New York and Boston), ten months of wedding planning, and one amazing weekend of celebrating, Thom and I got married.

We fell in love with Rhode Island when I moved to Newport a few years ago. We decided to get married in the “Ocean State” (a.k.a. the biggest little state in the union) because we proudly call it home and because we knew our guests would enjoy its beautiful coastline, historic architecture and its charm. From early on in our planning, we agreed that the most important part of the day was the ceremony because of its significance. Our ceremony was held at Trinity Church in Newport, which is special to us because it is the church that we attend and getting married there meant that Trinity’s rector, whom we trust and deeply respect, would perform the ceremony.

After visiting nearly every potential venue in Rhode Island, we finally found the perfect place to host our reception in Jamestown, just across the bay from Newport. Unconventional and a bit off-the-beaten path, the private home where we held our reception offered unbelievable views of many of the sites that make Newport and Jamestown special: Narragansett Bay, Fort Adams, Hammersmith Farm, the Pell Bridge, Rose Island, Castle Hill lighthouse, Ida Lewis Yacht Club and, of course, the Atlantic ocean. We were confident that it would provide the elegant, natural setting we wanted.

September in Southern Rhode Island is spectacular, assuming the weather cooperates. Our reception site was an all-or-nothing venue: the property juts out into the bay, which means that it is the perfect stage for watching sailboats cruise by with a cocktail in hand. But in bad weather, it can mean harsh winds off the water and completely socked-in conditions with no visibility. Plus the house on the property didn’t provide enough room to host 150 guests for dinner. We knew the weather had to be perfect or our big day would turn into a big disaster. We got unbelievably lucky: the weather was clear and sunny throughout the entire weekend of our wedding, which meant that our friends and family got to experience the Rhode Island that we love.

The reception site doubled as our rehearsal dinner venue. Organized by Thom’s mother and father, both of whom are native New Englanders, the rehearsal dinner was a traditional clambake of lobster, chowder, mussels, clams, corn and salad. It was set on the second floor of the house so that we could take advantage of the panoramic views of Newport and Jamestown and the sunset. McGrath’s of Middletown, Rhode Island, made the dinner fun and memorable by explaining the process of farming and fishing the clambake ingredients before unveiling a huge, steaming mound of seafood.

Our wedding ceremony was held at two o’clock in the afternoon at Trinity Church. One of the most memorable parts of the whirlwind day was driving to the church with my parents and walking down the aisle with both of them. Having a few minutes together, amid all the hustle and bustle and excitement of the wedding festivities was so special to me and it is something I will cherish for years to come. Though the ceremony was very traditional, we were able to personalize it by having my brother and Thom’s sister provide the readings. After the ceremony guests explored Newport a bit and were then shuttled to Jamestown for the reception.

Cocktail hour was held on the grass overlooking the water. It featured traditional, seasonal New England fare, including watermelon and feta skewers, bacon wrapped scallops, and mini “fish and chips” cones. Dinner was served under a tent decorated with bistro lights and white linen. Our goal was to ensure that the reception complemented the natural greenery and waterfront setting. With that in mind, the table decor included white and green hydrangeas with green dianthus, surrounded by candles, heirloom pieces of silver (generously lent by friends) and warm canopy lighting. The surf and turf – filet mignon served with lobster mac n’ cheese – stole the show for most of our guests, but the sole with julienned vegetables and risotto was also a hit. We opted for a simple three tiered wedding cake with funfetti and carrot cake layers, and servers offered guests passed “cookies and milk:” warm cookies atop small glasses of vanilla ice cream.

One of our biggest challenges was finding a band with high-quality musicians who could play Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald as well as they could play Journey and Michael Jackson. Eight To The Bar, the band we hired, was one of the most memorable highlights of the reception: they played for cocktail hour as well as dinner and the hours of dancing that followed. In addition to featuring the saxophone player who helped record Van Morrison’s “Moondance” album (one of my all-time favorites), Eight To The Bar kicked off the dancing with a song they’d learned just for us.

The formal reception ended with a sparkler send-off, which coincided with the kick-off of the after party: the arrival of Paco’s taco truck. Thom organized the tacos along with a DJ as the final touch of the evening. After more dancing and celebrating, our big day finally finished up in the wee hours of the morning.

The following morning, our friends and family returned to the reception site for brunch overlooking the bay at its best: filled with boats sailing by on the shimmering water. It was the perfect way to say our goodbyes and thank you’s. We still feel that we cannot thank everyone, especially our parents, enough.

Glamorous Spring Wedding at Belle Mer

Show me a spring seaside wedding at the always beautiful Belle Mer and I’ll show you one happy bridal blogger. But add in not one, but two clips, from Long Haul Films and I’m now getting super comfortable to soak it all up. We have an abundance of glamour and romance right in front of us so let’s just settle on in for this big bundle of beauty with the pics and films below!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/95792525 600 338]

From Long Haul Films Long before Victoria slipped into that gorgeous Vera gown, we traveled to their Rhode Island home for their “I Love Us” film – not only did it give them a chance to share their sweepingly romantic story with the world, it gave us the chance to get to know Vic and Jay (and their cute little pups!). When their wedding day came around, we felt like we were spending time with old friends.

From the Bride… Think romance and think glamour! Those were the two words I was inspired by during the entire planning of the wedding. Belle Mer in Newport, Rhode Island was the first venue we looked at and booked it a day later. We wanted to get married on the water, but not in the sand so it was a perfect fit! The rest of the planning process was indeed a process. Like every bride, I had dreamed of my wedding dress since I was a little girl. I envisioned myself in a white princess ball gown. It wasn’t until after trying on approximately 30 dresses that I landed on a blush mermaid-style Vera Wang gown. The first dress I ever tried on was my favorite. So when I went back to try it on a second time at Vera Wang on Newbury Street in Boston , they no longer had the gown in the ivory color I loved. I tried on the blush dress, assuring my mother and sisters it was just for fit. All I remember is walking out of the dressing room with more excitement than anything I had felt with any of the other dresses. Before even turning around to look in the mirror, I screamed, “This is the one!” That’s how I ended up with the wedding color scheme.

All eight of my bridesmaids wore white, instead. I selected each girl’s Jim Hjelm dresses keeping their gorgeous, but different body types in mind. None of the girls saw their dresses until they were delivered a month prior to the wedding. I accessorized each bridesmaid with different jewelry and a stack of Sisco + Berluti bracelets – they’re my favorite! My handsome groom and groomsmen all wore custom-made Tom James suits. Jay wore a silver and blush pinstriped three-piece suit that complimented my gown to perfection. I wanted everyone to look and feel as good as I did.

On the evening of May 24, 2014, Jay and I enjoyed each other, our family, our friends and our hard work as we became husband and wife. The ceremony was so sentimental to us, because we included so many special people. Jay and I wrote the entire ceremony ourselves. A family friend married us, a cousin read a remembrance for Jay’s father and my grandmother, and two of our very dear friends spoke the kindest words about marriage and love. It was absolutely wonderful!

Just when we thought the night couldn’t get any more magical the reception started. The room décor was mostly white with little touches of pink and silver here and there. We danced the night away with DJ Charles Mercer and The World Premier Band. There is not a thing I would change about that night.

Elegant Fall Wedding at Glen Manor House

This beautiful Bride’s bouquet just made my list of top ten favorites of all time. Full of Venice orchids, the striking elegance of the all-white florals by the talented Flowers By Semia cascading out of the bouquet stole my breath away and made this wedding a winner immediately. But there is plenty more beauty where it came from, all captured by Joyelle West and this gallery won’t be one I forget anytime soon.

From The Bride… Matt and I live in Boston but we enjoy spending our summer weekends in Rhode Island where he grew up. When it finally came time for us to look at wedding venues it wasn’t a difficult choice to make. I had always wanted a garden wedding, and Matt, an avid boater, had always envisioned a location on the water; the Glen Manor checks both of these boxes. The Glen is a really perfect venue for a wedding. The estate and grounds are stunning but still very intimate, which helps to make everything feel more like a big party in a beautiful home, as opposed to traditional wedding venues which can sometimes feel stuffy or impersonal. Matt and I are laid back people and just wanted our guests to have fun.

The wedding vibe we were trying to achieve was laid-back elegance. I love mixing textures and soft color palettes. The tablescapes were created using a variety of champagne, ivory and gold textiles, and a mix of compote and multi vase floral arrangements by the amazing team at Flowers by Semia. The florals they provided for the wedding party were outrageously beautiful – I loved how the bridesmaid’s bouquets worked to tie together their mismatched Amsale dresses. My bouquet was a mix of Venice orchids and Alabaster Roses.

Some of my favorite wedding projects involved the smaller details, like sourcing vintage stamps on Ebay for our invitations, to collecting props that matched our theme. The vintage wicker suitcase used to display the pashmina guest favors was something I found at the Cambridge Antique Market. I loved collaborating with the girls from Darling Creative Co. for some of the finishing touches that really made the wedding feel special. Julie Madden and Kristen Barrett are the creative geniuses behind all of the paper, tags and signage as well as the amazing vintage birdcage which they transformed into a “wishing well.” Kristen and Julie were godsends in the final month before the wedding.

Lastly, a big thank you to Joyelle West for the beautiful photographs, and our “glam squad” Nicole Grecco (for hair) and Nikki Roth (for makeup).

Block Island Beach House Summer Wedding

The effortlessness of this wedding (and beautifully boho bride) is absolutely breathtaking. Captured by Artistic Wedding Films, guest sat on driftwood as the two exchanged vows and danced the night away under a lighted tent and a cool, late summer breeze. You can see all the intricate details photographed by Rebecca Arthurs here!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/116902059 600 338]

From Artistic Wedding FilmsDaniel and Tessa were married 13 miles out to sea on Block Island. It could not have been a more beautiful late summer day. Weddings are are not about the glitz and glam, they are about love, family and memories. Tessa was so happy to be getting ready with her girls; Daniel was full of anticipation.

They gathered unique and vintage items to decorate the beach house they rented for the week. The best part about the property is the long sandy wooded path that opens up into the dunes and spills out onto the beach. Adventurers at heart, Daniel and Tessa decided to invite their guests on a journey down a wooded path to the ceremony on a secluded beach. There they said their vows underneath a gorgeous driftwood chuppa, that their friends had spent the day before gathering wood and assembling.

Afterwards they celebrated under a lovely tent, decorated with all of their favorite garden foliage. Their wedding represented a true marriage of love and family, and it was the perfect celebration for Tessa and Daniel who’s love of life is so contagious.

Romantic + Chic Newport Wedding

From their harbor-side ceremony, to the white bed of petals covering the ground, to exchanging vows underneath a crystal chandelier canopy, every detail of this Belle Mer affair planned in the hands of Details With Love is pure perfection. It’s bursting with Greenlion Floral + Event Design centerpieces and Paper Moss loveliness, and Person + Killian Photography has it waiting for you here!

From Person + Killian PhotographyKristin + Rob chose the stunning Belle Mer for their wedding day, a perfect venue for a modern and chic wedding on the beautiful Newport seashore.

The late afternoon ceremony took place right outside on the pristine manicured grounds, overlooking the harbor. The bride walked down the aisle which was covered in a bed of white rose petals. The couple said their “I do’s” under a crystal chandelier and beautiful sheer white canopy.

As the sun started to set everyone moved inside for the cocktail party and evening reception. Kristin + Rob kept their color scheme neutral and elegant, a perfect compliment to Belle Mer salon’s classic white walls and pillars. Their decor was a mix of blush, champagne, white, and ivory. When we asked the bride to describe her inspiration for the wedding day, she said “modern, romantic, fresh, sophisticated, and chic”! The reception was glowing with floral hi-low centerpieces and white and gold candles, a perfect portrayal of Kristin’s vision.

There was a special after party in the Belle Mer island house with a taco truck waiting as guests entered. The lighting shifted to bright purple and blue highlights that provided a beautiful contrast to the dark night sky with delicate lanterns and uplighting.

Elegant Blush + White Linden Place Wedding

Surrounded by lush scenery and regal romance, these college cuties made sure their Big Day was filled with personal touches. From the cornhole games during cocktail hour, to their blooming Greenlion Design tablescapes atop La Tavola linens, every detail was inspired by their Alma matter. Splash! kept the party going throughout the night and M. Studios  captured it all here!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/120146597 600 338]

From the beautiful Bride… Surrounded by our closest family and friends, we enjoyed a beautiful day in September at the stunning Linden Place Mansion in Bristol, RI. Travis and I met in our college days at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY. We knew we wanted to incorporate our alma mater into our big day and added a few special and subtle touches into our wedding day to remember our college ties. One of our closest friends drew pen and ink inspired pictures of Hamilton buildings which served as our table names, and I surprised Travis with a Hamilton themed corn hole game for guests to enjoy during cocktail hour. Travis and I wanted to achieve a casual elegant vibe for the day, which factored into each step of our wedding planning – from choosing a mix of rustic walnut farm tables and round tables with blush linens to the baby’s breath that lined the ceremony aisle, to the DIY photo booth with Fujifilm cameras and props, to our blush escort cards which my mom hand-wrote, to the gorgeous mantle adorned with vintage boxes, flowers, garland, votives, and mirrors.

A color palette of neutral whites and blush pinks and was carried through from the bridesmaids’ dresses and the incredible florals by Greenlion Design to the tablescapes in the Carriage House Ballroom. Guests were witness to an outdoor ceremony followed by cocktail hour in the East Rose Garden surrounded by the sweet sounds of a string trio. Vintage lanterns hung in the trees while family and friends noshed on delicacies cooked up by the fine folks at Russell Morin Catering. The carriage house was styled with thousands of twinkle lights creating a warm glow overhead while sequined, chevron linens and exquisite flowers in vessels adorned the dinner tables. Before and after dinner Splash! performed for the guests and we proved that elegance can turn rowdy with the proper music!

Glamorous Rosecliff Mansion Summer Wedding

When you have a venue like Rosecliff Mansion, the actual site of the original Gatsby movie, it’s not even worth trying to compete with its epic beauty. Details with Love used it instead as inspiration, sprinkling shimmer and glamour all around, making Rosecliff and this gorgeous Bride shine even more. With Greenlion Design creating works of art and Shark Pig‘s fantastic film, we’re transported back to those good ole days and these pics are putting us in the mood for some serious champagne and celebrating.

From Details with LoveHe looked at her in a way every girl wanted to be looked at.

The opulence, the mystery, the sparkle! What’s old is new again. It was important to M to have that Gatsby-era “feel” but with a modern twist. The grand Rosecliff Mansion (the one chosen for the original Gatsby film) in Newport, with its beautiful gardens surrounding it, was the perfect setting. Inspired by Gatsby quotes, pictures and descriptions from the time period, elegant fashion, and nature.

It came together styled as a stunning blend of grandeur by Details with Love and the Bride and Groom sparkled and shined!

Some of our favorite details include stylish invites by Papers of Newport and flourishing hand calligraphy by Heather Belle Ink that set the tone for the evenings event. A sparkling champagne tower full of gold brimmed flutes greeted the guests as they entered a room filled with a glam color palette of champagne and gold. Gorgeous tables adorned in 1920’s inspired gilded centerpieces by Greenlion Design and sweet French inspired confections by Confectionery Designs.

Time to drink Champagne and dance on the table!

From The Bride…Andrew and I met in a way that is not very common these days…we were set up on a blind date! My best friend (and maid of honor) met Andrew through a close mutual friend, and she knew right away that he was someone I would like. She found him interesting, particularly since he was a scuba diving instructor turned financial analyst, and thought that his “quirky” sense of humor might appeal to me. Our first date, I remember being pleasantly surprised at how easily we fell into conversation and how comfortable I felt with him. We started seeing each other often, but it wasn’t until we visited the Bronx Zoo that I thought this could be the person I spend the rest of my life with. Andrew had some reptiles as pets as a child, and he was excited to visit the crocodile exhibit. I was somewhat less enthused, but when we arrived at the crocodile tank, I couldn’t help but notice that two of the crocodiles appeared to be holding hands! Andrew and I both laughed and in that moment, I knew that our connection was very special and something that you don’t find every day.

I grew up on the Connecticut shore near Rhode Island and since Andrew and I both love the ocean, it seemed fitting that we get married by the sea. The Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island was recently renovated and we both were amazed with not only the beautiful grounds and views, but with the incredible staff and service. While my mom and I originally planned to address all of the wedding details on our own, we soon realized that it might be wise to have the assistance of a wedding planner. We hired Bellafare from New York for their partial wedding planning services. My mom and I designed most of the wedding ourselves, but we also had help from our incredible florist, Sayles Livingston. For our other vendors, we used the talented Louis Rodriguez for make-up and Paper Moss for our programs, table cards, escort cards and wedding weekend guide. Charlotte Neuville of New York’s Fashion Chef made our absolutely stunning cake, which not only looked beautiful but tasted incredible. I wore a dress by Monique L’Huillier and my bridesmaids wore Alexander Wang pale pink dresses. Andrew wore a navy blue tuxedo and all of the groomsmen wore navy blue suits.

We had our welcome dinner at the Pink House, one of the Ocean House’s properties located less than a mile down the road from the Ocean House. Everyone was invited and it was a beautiful evening. Andrew and his groomsmen all stayed at the Pink House that night and I returned to a beautiful suite with ocean views at the Ocean House. The next morning my bridesmaids, my mother, and my mother-in-law all came to my suite to get ready for the ceremony. We had a catered lunch in the suite with champagne and delicious tartine sandwiches for everyone to nibble on while they got their hair and make-up done. Then at 4 pm, we all left for the Weekapaug Chapel in Weekapaug, Rhode Island. My dad and I drove separately in a white vintage Rolls Royce. I remember feeling so excited that I held my dad’s hand all the way to the chapel. Mary Coburn, officiated the ceremony and several of our guests said that it was the best wedding ceremony that they had ever attended. We had the string quartet, Millenium Music play during the ceremony and I walked down the aisle to Debussy’s Claire de Lune. After taking some pictures in the garden behind the chapel, Andrew and I walked toward the Rolls Royce, while our guests threw rose petals over our heads.

The wedding reception was held in the Ocean House ballroom and our cocktail hour was held on the terrace. We had passed hor d’oeuvres as well as passed rosé champagne and a delicious signature strawberry cocktail. Sayles Livingston transformed the ballroom into a magical flower-laden wonderland, which inspired our guests to make “#kallmannfairytale” the hashtag of the night. Our band, Ground Control was phenomenal. Our first dance was to Bob Dylan’s “Make you Feel my Love” and was quickly followed by Pharrell’s “Happy.” The band had everyone dancing and one of the lead male vocalists was not only an incredible singer, but a great dancer as well…everyone was blown away by his Michael Jackson-style moves!

The Ocean House served an incredible three course dinner to all of our guests. The appetizer was a delicious goat cheese and tomato tart and for the entrée guests had a choice between a delicious beef filet or scallops. For dessert, we had our delicious wedding cake which was Tahitian vanilla bean cake with Tahitian vanilla bean frosting, as well as several passed desserts. After dinner and dancing, Andrew and I exited the ballroom and lead the way down an outdoor path to the gallery room where the after-party was held. On either side of the path our guests held sparklers as we walked between them. It was truly magical and the best day of our lives!

Elegant Beach Club Wedding

It’s not everyday that you meet the love of your life in grade school, but for these two cuties, it was a lifetime of friendship turned Transatlantic romance that led to their elegant beach club wedding. Imagine pretty pink florals from Sayles Livingston Flowers and the fab stylings of Details With Love, all wrapped up in an evening of heartwarming moments captured by Snap! Photography.  See them here.

From the Bride… Conor and I met as elementary school kids growing up in Rhode Island. Conor was immediately impressed with my fort building skills and from then on, we were close friends.  So close, we even attended prom together!

Conor moved to New York City after college and I soon followed with my own move and a new job. However, this isn’t the end of the story.  Soon after I made the move to Manhattan, Conor took a job in London. While some may think this would be the end of a love story, for us it was only the beginning.  The distance turned out to be exactly what we needed to see what we had all along. Two years and two continents later, Conor proposed in front of his childhood home – where we first met 20 years earlier, almost to the day. We celebrated with a bike ride to the Matunuck Oyster Bar, our favorite neighborhood haunt, for oysters and champagne with family and friends.

With many shared memories rooted in the Ocean State, it was the perfect place to celebrate our new life together. Early on in planning, Conor decided that with the majority of guests traveling to be with us, it was only fitting to share everything we love most about southern Rhode Island with them. We tried to infuse that sentiment into every detail including the gift bags, the menus, the venue and even the Oyster Bar!

My family has a long history at The Dunes Club in Narragansett and Conor and I both love beach days there, making the venue an easy sell. We quickly decided to stay local, choosing mostly Rhode Island based vendors for our wedding day. Our band, Sugar, was a no-brainer, we loved them before we were even a couple and knew they’d have everyone dancing!

We clicked right away with our photographers and florist. The cherry on top was our wedding planner, Kristin Love of Details with Love. Kristin took our lofty ideas (read: a champagne and oysters beach club reception) and turned each into more than we could imagine, ensuring that our personalities were infused in every piece of the wedding.

I wanted to enhance The Dunes Club’s vintage seaside elegance and took inspiration from the watercolor and gray invitation suite East Six Invitations created for us. We loved the symbolism of the compass detail and wove it through many elements, including our seating cards – an Ebay find and huge hit! Conor and I spent weekends hand watercoloring everything from the table numbers and bar signage to the banner that adorned the vintage trunk, which served as a cardholder. The trunk is an old family piece from the 1800’s. It was precious to use and I loved the treasure chest vibe it gave off with the surrounding pocket-sized gold compasses.

We wed over Labor Day Weekend and kicked off the holiday with lobster rolls and cocktails at my Parents home for all the guests. Our rehearsal dinner was held at Shelter Harbor Golf Club the following evening. The weekend-long affair allowed us to spend quality time with each of our guests while sharing our favorite places. By our Sunday wedding, it was a big, happy party!

A few moments and a few things were especially meaningful from our wedding.

As a wedding gift, my Sister’s boyfriend handcrafted the anchor marquee light illuminating the mantle and dessert bar. Wow, were we proud to display such a beautiful piece. I created the menu cards by reproducing a watercolor painting of a lobster, done by my Aunt as a gift for my parents before their wedding. The tie to the watercolor details was lovely but her sentimental reaction to seeing her artwork on each place setting meant more than anything!

Sayles Livingston pulled colors from my six bridesmaids’ ethereal soft pastel Twobirds Bridesmaids ballgowns to create the magical florals. The high-low centerpieces, coupled with the twinkle lights and lanterns topping the room, made me feel like a fairy floating through Ferngully all night long.

My Anne Barge wedding gown was love at first sight, my mom and I found the wrapped tulle and the delicate pin-tucked dress at Kleinfeld’s. In a happy coincidence, the dress was named Aimee! I added the covered buttons and jeweled belt and the fluffy tulle skirt had me twirling the night away.

The most spectacular part of the night was the fireworks display celebrating Labor Day. With my sister and our friends by our side, it was an incredible way to reflect on what brought us there. After the grand finale, we danced all through the night while end-of-summer thunderstorms rolled over the ocean outside. It was a fairy tale night and put simply, more fun than we could have imagined.

From the Groom… What more can I say? The weekend really blew away any expectations that I could have had. The incredible emotions on the day were beyond anything I’d ever experienced. I have to give my wife a tremendous amount of credit. All the little details she put so much time and effort towards really made it such a special event. I’ve never seen The Dunes Club look so beautiful. I can’t thank all the vendors enough, everyone brought their absolute A game and it made the difference. Just awesome.

From Lynne Reznick PhotographyI chose the tagline “A fresh perspective for your classic love story” for my business because it truly embodies the way that I work and what I aim to capture for every couple I photograph. Each couple’s story is different and the detailed planning of every wedding story deserves to be honored. That said, some of my favorite images are the ones where the unplanned happened and it is was lovely, or adorable, or quietly full of emotion. By capturing the moments big and small, expected and unexpected, I seek to tell each couple’s unique love story as it unfolds and share in a whole lot of love and laughter along the way.

Modern Nautical Newport Wedding

My hubby and I are knee-deep in planning a little Newport babymoon, and this seaside lovefest from the lens of Judy Pak has me hoping springtime rolls around, STAT. It’s every New England bride’s dream come true, with carefully curated nautical moments alongside all-white blooms styled by Stoneblossom. Kick Tuesday off right here in the full gallery.

From The Bride… When Dave and I got engaged and started to think about our dream wedding, we knew we wanted to plan an event that would be elegant and classic with whimsical, personal touches and most of all be relaxed and fun for our guests. We live and work in Manhattan and decided we thought it would be extra special to come up with a great weekend destination – somewhere that would get people out of the city but wouldn’t be too far away for most of our guests. I had vacationed in Newport with my family growing up and had recently been back to Castle Hill Inn which is just the most magical and beautiful place – I knew it would be perfect. Dave and I took a trip to Newport and he was immediately convinced- Newport and Castle Hill would give us that perfect elegant environment for the wedding, with lots of room for fun for our guests.

We worked with Joyce Holland of Stoneblossom Florals and she became an incredibly trusted adviser and friend in planning. We weren’t stuck on any particular types of flowers but we knew we wanted the environment to feel light and soft with some minimal seaside/nautical touches. She paired lots of white and green flowers with beautiful garden roses, anenomes and other seasonal varietals which gave the perfect flecks of color for our fall celebration. She brought in tons of candles, mercury glass and other beautiful additions like lanterns and aisle decor. She was our savior! To add to Joyce’s decoration, the crew at Exquisite Events handled lighting. We picked vintage chandeliers and swathed the tent with fabric to bring the ceiling down a little lower and give it that quaint, vintage feel.

We were very lucky to have Judy Pak as our photographer. We fell in love with Judy’s signature style – light and airy, dreamy images. She captured our day to a tee from the perfectly orchestrated “first look” to those little moments that only the most skilled photographers can catch. She is a true artist.

Our cake was created by Marc and Marie Soliday/ Confectionery Designs. It was spectacular! Marie worked with Joyce to replicate the flowers in my bouquet. We were blown away when we saw it. Plus it tasted delicious. We had a most excellent band – Big Mix with Joe Shane, we brought them up from NY. I had seen them perform at a wedding many years before and they always stuck in my head. They played classic covers and even backed my husband our friend up for a little impromptu Whitesnake performance.

There were many special and personal touches throughout the weekend. From our “message in a bottle” save the dates, to our Adirondack chair escort cards (to match Castle Hill’s signature chairs) to our personalized welcome bags and signature cocktail straws, and much more, Alana Jones-Mann outdid herself in our collaboration! Alana is the queen of whimsy and details and took our visions and made them realities. She also hand letter pressed our three-piece custom invitations and created a gorgeous presentation for when they arrived to our guest’s mailboxes.

Castle Hill could not have been a more perfect venue for us. With breathtaking seaside views, the mansion and semi-permanent tent set the scene for our dream wedding. The menu was exquisite and the service is unparalleled. After the reception in the tent we hosted an after party in the mansion where our guests partied into the night. Our wedding was truly a dream, we loved every second!

From Meghan SepeThis late summer real wedding hails from Newport, RI. Words to describe this day would be rustic, natural, romantic, youthful and pretty in pink. Their video is adorable and the bride’s blush Monique Lhuillier gown is totally awesome!

From the beautiful Bride… Dan and I actually met a long time ago, socially, but we hadn’t crossed paths in several years. A few years ago, my mom (a personal trainer) was at the gym and ran into Dan who is a physical therapist. They hadn’t seen each other in ages and in catching up, Dan asked how I was and what I was up to now. Before long, my mom was going on and on about my business ventures, things I like to do, trips I’ve taken, how I love my dog …and that I was single. Turned out Dan was also single and after hearing so much about what we had in common personally and professionally, it took him no time to reach out.

We like to say we were “reintroduced” by my mom and set up a dog walk date. It might sound funny but it was really that simple – we knew right away we were going to be together.

We live in a pretty tight community in Newport, RI where everyone knows everyone, especially those who have lived here most their lives, like us. We are both 4th generation “Aquidneck Islanders,” and both of us have large social families, so planning a wedding was a bit of an adventure! Staying local was a priority for both of us and we were lucky to be able to use my aunt and uncle’s gorgeous sprawling lawn off a country road near the beach. We wanted to throw a beautiful outdoor bash and include as many friends and family as we possibly could.

Our menu was seasonally farm-to-table and the circus tents, tea lights, wine barrels and heavy rustic tables were a perfect fit for the country, natural feel we were going for. We’re a goofy bunch, so we made an effort to keep the atmosphere laid back and fun, but also grown up and sentimental. Friends and family all helped out with hand painted signs or bailing hay, even making the cake – and EVERYONE was on the dance floor! It all came together beautifully and the celebration went well into the wee hours.

I’ve dreamt of  my wedding day since childhood and can honestly say it was hands down the happiest day of my life! I got to marry my best friend surrounded by loved ones at a place we call home… It doesn’t get any better than that.
