This Romantic Fall Day Will Make You Question Everything You Thought About Halloween Weddings

This may be a Halloween wedding, but the only thing scary is how scary beautiful it is. Without cheesy jack-o-lanterns or an overwhelming presence of orange and black décor,  Chill Weddings created a sophisticated affair with a romantic fall color palette, warm candlelight and a dessert bar meant for Trick-Or-Treating. See it all from Emily Wren Photography in The Vault!

From The Bride…When we first began planning our big day we didn’t have a particular location or venue in mind, but knew we wanted to find an untraditional, intimate setting that reflected our personality and aesthetic taste — a venue that was elegant-rustic, romantic and cozy. We chose POMME in Radnor, Pennsylvania, near where Jodi grew up. The venue is secluded in a beautiful, lush and landscaped setting, and for a Halloween wedding, created the perfect, colorful backdrop for capturing our special day.

The ceremony was set in the round under a suspended floral arrangement creating a very personal setting for Jodi and Graham to be married by their best friend from childhood and college, Lizzy Ott. Following, a rustic, indoor/outdoor gazebo offered an ideal setting for cocktail hour, and allowed our guests to enjoy the romantic pond with a nesting family of swans. The focal point of the reception space was a decorative fireplace, which helped inspire the overall vision. We chose a soft and romantic color pallet of pale pinks, sage greens and whites/creams with a slight pop of navy/purple, to contrast the dark, rich seasonal colors outside. The room’s intimacy made it easy to decorate with warm and personal touches like copper candlelight, picture frames, marquee lights, and varying floral decor at each table. Our floral designer Papertini really understood our vision from day one — from the beautiful, hanging floral arrangement that served as a centerpiece for our ceremony, and loosely-shaped organic bouquets, to surprising accents like an antique, industrial bar and salvaged wooden doors which displayed the guests’ tablecards — every element was carefully considered.

Another important aspect of the wedding was the menu. We wanted to create something different from the traditional wedding fare, and a menu that reflected our favorite cuisine. We worked with the Chef from Peachtree & Ward to develop a Mexican-inspired offering that combined a surf & turf plated dinner with family style sides like Mexican street corn and fried yucca tots, producing a fun and casual atmosphere.

The final element for us was ensuring our guests were on the dance floor all night long! Our brand EBE’s Barcelona, created a lively, party atmosphere and overall, an unforgettable evening.

From the Bride…Aaron and I met in college, at a summer job on campus. He changed light bulbs in the dorms over the summer and I kept track of his and other students work in the housing department office. I didn’t know that he liked me until I realized how easily I could make him blush.

Aaron proposed to me about a month after my birthday and Valentine’s Day, right when I had given up on engagement for another year. He and my best friend, Brooke, had secretly gone out shopping for the perfect ring but because the sapphire had to be ordered special, it was later than he expected. In hindsight having it actually be a surprise was worth it.

Wedding planning was hard for me, I knew what I wanted the wedding to feel like, but translating that into lots of tiny decisions was difficult. Having a sister and mom with a lot of ideas and encouragement helped. Somethings were definitely easy, Maria was the only photographer I wanted to work with and Stephanie from Blue Daisy Florals had such beautiful arrangements and understood what I wanted right away. Raina included a lot of details in the place settings that I wouldn’t have considered but when it was all put together it was too good to pass up.

The day of the wedding came together much better than I could have planned. We were incredibly lucky with the weather, it rained before we got to the venue, stopped raining enough for us to take pictures outside– rained again before the ceremony, and cleared up just in time for us to be married in the garden where I had told Aaron 4 years prior that I wanted to be married there. The day felt like a dream, we were surrounded by friends who had come as far as the Netherlands to be with us— it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. One of my favorite parts of the day was when our master of ceremonies (it was a self uniting ceremony, so a close friend led us through the ceremony) took a moment and told us to look out at all the people who came to our wedding to support us, and who loved us. That was a powerful, unexpected touch that brought a busy, crazy day to a standstill for a few moments.

April Showers Bring May Flowers For This Springtime Styled Shoot

After a crazy winter (seriously, there were weeks in those scary single digits), we’re all welcoming spring with WIDE OPEN ARMS. But spring doesn’t always arrive on time. It teases us a bit, stops by, leaves, comes back around…and this time of transition is what inspired The Event Group to create the scene before us. Playing on the darkness of winter up against the bright incoming spring, copper and slate complement each other and we’re all the better for it. Eva Lin and All Heart Photo & Video snapped away and with these pics in our Vault, we’re ready to dive head first into the season before us!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/160002564 600 338]

From The Event GroupWhimsical and edgy, “In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb” draws inspiration from the lingering northeast winters and the promise of spring. Commonly an overlooked time of the year, this collaboration will invigorate the wedding world with a refreshing and creative take on the transitional months of March and April. Warm copper tones, dramatic florals and complementary textiles will create a delicate balance between the romance of winter and the playfulness of spring.

Encompassing this dark versus light concept, the Ace Hotel ballroom was the perfect host for this collaboration. The abundance of natural light not only makes for exquisite photographs, but also touches on this airy hope for spring, while the contradicting black drapes speak to the darkness of winter.

P.S. The models in this shoot are a real life married couple and are absolutely adorable!

Adorably Sweet Nautical Summer Wedding

Wedding blogger confession time! This BHLDN dress? It’ll forever be a favorite. It’s wedding dress perfection in my eyes and add in the superb hair and makeup talents of Janelle On Location and this Bride is BEAMING. Lauren Fair captured her and all the delightful details of this waterfront wedding and it’s all in our Vault for us to pin and pine over. Join me there!

From Lauren Fair Photography… Devon and Adam’s summer wedding was all things lush, simple, nautical and classically beautiful. The Gatsby-esque mansion of Glen Foerd Estate was an incredible backdrop for their vision! Oleander Florals and Design brought their vision to life with oversized bouquets of whites and greens, and incorporated textural ropes and sea glass into the reception decor. Their wedding had the most perfect soft golden hour as a jazz band played on the patio and guests mingled together on the waterfront. It was nothing short of magical!

Rustic Meets Luxurious Farm Wedding

Work at SMP long enough and you’ll start to believe in fairy tales.  Those true love stories that start with chance meetings and end with luxurious fétes set against a stunning barn backdrop.  This, loves, is just that story.  Think romantic florals from Garnish Event Design, the breathtaking stylings of JPC Event Group and brilliant images from Joey Kennedy.  See them all right here in THE VAULT.

Rustic

From JPC Event Group… Vintage decor and lush florals ruled this rustic luxe wedding. Rich hues of navy and marsala provided an enchanting palette set against various locations on Rustic Acres Farm in Volant, Pennsylvania. An unexpected weather event was the surprise of a lifetime for this South Florida couple – an early October snowfall! When the early autumn snow fell it created a magical backdrop that turned Rustic Acres Farm into a winter wonderland. The snow ended up being the perfect backdrop for Garnish Event Design’s mixed florals with hints of burgundy and cream, the warm wood and sparkling lights of the Farm creating a snow globe effect straight out of a woodland fairy tale.

Casey & Alex were such a sweet couple. They really wanted to make sure the entire event was cohesive and captured their own personalities from the ceremony and reception décor and details to the food! Their love for each other was encapsulating and so contagious, that not a person in attendance could deny that they are soulmates.

From the Bride… Alex and I met the first morning of orientation for medical school at the University of Florida. As chance would have it, Alex was sitting directly behind me during one of our morning sessions. I overhead him talking to a classmate about being a brother of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and turned around to see if I recognized him. We started to talk about Greek life and later figured out that we both grew up in South Florida. The two of us continued to hang out during orientation, and spent most of the social events that week getting to know each other. Fast forward a few weeks later when Alex took me out on our first date, since that time we have remained inseparable. During our final year of school, after spending many months away from each other for interviews, Alex proposed on New Year’s morning. The only thing that could top a perfect proposal was the surprise brunch celebration that Alex planned later that morning, with our closest friends and family in attendance.

When considering our wedding style, Alex and I knew that we wanted to have an intimate and romantic celebration. The two of us ended up moving to Pittsburgh to complete our medical residencies, and found the perfect venue just outside of the city to have our wedding at. We fell in love with Rustic Acres Farm’s rustic barn; with its hanging chandeliers, complete with a wrap around deck with views of rolling fields. We decided on a more neutral color scheme, as to not overpower the natural beauty and fall foliage present on the farm. Garnish Event Design by JPC Event Group executed our vision perfectly with floral arrangements consisting of ivory and pale pink flowers, and a touch of burgundy. Gold candelabras and table numbers added to the romance of the lush florals. The beautiful willow tree provided a magical setting to hold our ceremony, and we were married standing underneath a chuppah that was built by Alex’s father.

Our venue provided the caterer, Savor Fresh Catering by JPC Event Group, and they whipped up a feast that we continue to dream about. Our guests still rave about the most delicious doughnuts and pies at the dessert table. Having a live band was extremely important to the both of us. The Bachelor Boy Band kept our guests dancing the entire night, even during a brief power outage. Our amazing photographer (Joey Kennedy) and videographer (ShoFilms), captured the wedding perfectly and treated us like family.

Alex and my favorite parts of the wedding day were the Havdalah service and Ketubah signing, which took place prior to our wedding ceremony. Surrounded by our immediate family in a candle lit room, we were able to sign our marriage contract in an intimate and special way.

Cool Anecdote: An unexpected cold front passed through Pittsburgh the week of our wedding, leading to snowfall right before our outside ceremony began. Although it was freezing cold, the snow added a magical touch to our special day. Many of our guests had traveled north from Florida, and were good sports regarding the unexpected weather. My advice to other brides is you cannot prepare for everything to go perfectly on your wedding day! Even though our weather was not ideal, it did lead to some breathtaking photographs in the snow. Who would have guessed that it would snow mid- October?!

Bright + Modern Vow Renewal Inspiration

You know what’s sweet? Vow renewals. Even sweeter? A vow renewal inspiration that’s filled with pops of color and one sweet lil’ addition. And thanks to the ever-so-talented Tina Jay Photography we’ve got just that to share with you today. A contemporary celebration that’s sure to inspire, we invite you to scroll and pin the pretty that awaits you in The Vault!

From Tina Jay PhotographyThe inspiration for our Bright + Modern Vow Renewal Styled Shoot started when we decided to get together and photograph something fun and happy in these long winter months. The gorgeous, bright details of this styled shoot came together at the perfect time – our shoot took place on the day of the Jonas Blizzard! We managed to get everything put together and photographed, RIGHT as the first flurries started to fall.

We chose a new venue in Central PA for this styled shoot – The Bond, in York, Pennsylvania. The Bond has such a cool vibe, with an industrial feel. I absolutely love the juxtaposition of the bright, geometric details against the industrial look and feel of the venue. We used a square leather table with accompanying acrylic chairs for our table setup, which looked amazing not only with the details, but against the white-washed brick in the venue. And the details – they make me oh so happy! These bright + happy flowers were the perfect pick-me-up for a cold winter day. I absolutely loved the bright florals along with the geometric designs of the paper goods and cake.

The flowy pink tulle skirt that our bride wore was total perfection for this vow renewal. Pair that with a cute-as-can-be white tulle dress for the couple’s daughter, and it was sweetness overload!

Classic + Elegant Pennsylvania Winter Wedding

Winter weddings seem to be full of seasonal magic, and this one has it in spades. I’m not just talking about the cozy, warm, and romantic vibe of the Cork Factory Hotel or the lush, wintery florals. It’s so much more than that, like that the Bride wore her mother’s veil and that the Groom walked down the aisle to a surprise performance of the “Game of Thrones” theme song. See all the pretty from Brianna Wilbur in The Vault!

From The Bride…To be perfectly honest, I had never pictured a winter wedding. But when my fiancé proposed at Christmas last year, I realized a one-year engagement brought us to my least favorite season. A quick Pinterest search was all it took to sell me on a fur stole, gorgeous winter florals, and some dark green long bridesmaids dresses.

Although I looked for him everywhere, I finally met The One on a dating website. I actually remember looking across the table at him on our first date thinking, “Could this be my husband?” Two and a half years later, he is. I think I love my now-husband about double what I did before the big day, if that’s possible.

We envisioned an elegant and classic affair, with very traditional details, from the invitations to the ceremony. I wanted to highlight winter while creating a cozy, warm, and romantic vibe. I imagined greens, creams, and blacks. The Cork Factory Hotel could not have been more perfect: once our guests arrived on Friday for the rehearsal, no one had to leave the hotel until after brunch on Sunday. The convenience for the guests was of utmost importance for us. The airy ballroom, chandeliers, and fireplace didn’t hurt, either.

It is so special to me that I wore my mom’s veil, which was perfectly preserved and absolutely gorgeous. The Silverwood Trio surprised my husband with the “Game of Thrones” theme song when he walked into the ceremony, making him laugh and diffusing some of his nerves. I cherish the memories I have of us reciting our personally written vows to each other and that special trip down the candle-lit aisle with my Dad.

The pinecone escort cards were one of my favorite details. Last summer we started collecting pinecones and glueing them to birch rounds. Painting each one and applying glitter was another endeavor entirely! We wanted little mementos of me and Ryan everywhere, from doors plastered with childhood photographs to our birdie guestbook and cake toppers. We made our wine-bottle table numbers and then gave them away in a musical-chairs-type game at the reception, a crowd favorite!

I didn’t even know I was a flower person until I found Sullivan Owen. It’s like lightning struck, and I became absolutely obsessed with her floral works of art. I can now spot one of her bouquets even before knowing it’s her design. I was bursting with excitement before they arrived on our wedding day, and when they did I was blown away. I will never forget those flowers.

My groom tapped my shoulder and said, “Can I steal you for a second?” He took me out to the terrace and slow danced with me, alone, away from the guests, to Nora Jones’s “Come Away with Me.” I will never forget resting my head on his chest, and feeling unbelievable, overwhelming love from friends, family, and my new husband. It is a perfect memory from a perfect day.

Glamorous Woodsy Winter Wedding Inspiration

There’s really too much goodness in this shoot to sum up it’s beauty in a few sentences. You’ll have to let The Vault speak for itself. The planning genius of Laurel & Elm and the bloom creations by Splints & Daisies will leave you hanging on the edge of every detail captured by Brianna Wilbur Photography. Oh, and did I mention there’s a roasted marshmallow cake (à la The Pennsylvania Bakery) involved? To die.

From Brianna Wilbur PhotographyThis bridal inspiration shoot was designed around the idea of mixed metals and our version of glamorous boho fashion. We wanted this shoot to be centered around the clashing idea of mixed metals and our goal was to make a beautiful harmony of the uncommon pair. We added lush, whimsical winter greens, an ethereal simple grey wedding gown, and a wintery dessert bar with a roasted marshmallow cake, fudgey cookies, hot cocoa, and a blanket station. Mother nature didn’t deliver winter snow as we had expected for this time of year but she did give us some of the most beautiful golden light so we cannot complain. We hope this offers creative, romantic, cozy, whimsical inspiration for all the woodsy lovin’ brides out there who still desire a glamorous affair! I hope you love this as much as we do!

Classic Appleford Estate Wedding

You know what’s absolutely perfect?  This wedding.  This classic meets elegant Appleford Estate affair brimming with some of the prettiest details you have ever seen.  Think lush, romantic florals from Wild Stems, a luxe burgundy and gold color palette and a seriously fun reception that is basically everything. See it all captured beautifully by Asya Photography in THE VAULT right this way.

From The Bride… My husband and I live in California, but his family is from Pennsylvania, so we wanted to have our wedding there. The ceremony took place in the chapel at Malvern Prep, where he went to school. The priest knew him very well, so the ceremony was very personal to us. We wanted our wedding to feel very classic and elegant.

We chose Appleford, because of the intimate setting and we liked the idea that our wedding could be at a family member’s estate! The guests were free to wander around the beautiful manicured grounds. I brought personal items for the reception, old family photos and things, and for us to wear. I sewed a patch with my late father’s initials into my dress to remember him and share the day with him.

Our bridal party was a mix of old and new friends and we were a rowdy bunch. My bridesmaids wore burgundy dresses, I thought the color would look amazing against the greenery at Appleford. The groomsmen wore classic tuxedos. Our flowers were by Leaves of Grass, and she was AMAZING. She really listened to me and I think the decor for the reception was just stunning. She’s a true artist and works so hard on the day of to make the most beautiful floral designs.

Vintage Chic Farm House Wedding in Lewisburg

Question: what makes a barn wedding all the more wonderful? Answer: Barn kitties. Yes that’s right, just ask Meghan and Nick why their homestead celebration was beyond words beautiful and I bet you’ll here a mention of some sweet lil’ fluffs. Complete with Forget-Me-Not Vintage Rentals and Anna Reynal behind the lens, we’ve got every second of this sweet ceremony waiting for you in The Vault!

From Forget-Me-Not Vintage RentalsMeghan did an absolutely amazing job at illustrating her wedding day and her vision below, so my description is brief. Meghan and Nick got married at Meghan’s parent’s beautifully restored farm house property. It was such a naturally beautiful property, that even though it poured most of the day, everything still looked stunning. The words english garden, natural and greenery were most commonly used when dreaming up the couples big day. We chose to focus on hues of green, gold and amber as well as elements of natural wood through all of the vintage furniture.

From the Bride… Both Nick and I envisioned our wedding as two equally important parts; first a meaningful and intimate-feeling ceremony, followed by a great party with all our favorite people that ended with everyone on the dance floor for the entire night. For as long as I can remember, when I pictured my wedding I pictured getting married under the walnut tree in my parents front yard. They live on a 200 year-old, 50-acre farm in rural Pennsylvania so it really provided such a perfect and special venue for us. The location was by far the most important element and once we had decided to have an outdoor ceremony/cocktail hour with a tented reception the rest came very naturally. In fact, my sister-in-law’s best friend designed our save the dates and invitation suite using the outline of the walnut tree from a picture I had taken several years ago.

I never really liked the idea of specific “wedding colors” and gravitated more toward identifying colors, tones and textures that worked toward creating a warm, rustic elegance. This ended up being primarily gold and blush tones, shades of sage and mint green, ivories and elements of natural wood and glass. My style vision was loosely based on the idea of a formal dinner or tea party in the middle of the woods, something you might go to in a vintage gown and bare feet. I wanted it to feel elegant but relaxed and embrace the natural/beautiful surroundings of the rural location. We owe Forget Me Not Vintage Rentals for making this even remotely possible.

My parents have several cats that live in the barn, they had had kittens earlier that summer so there were 3 or 4 little kittens running around the whole time, one especially friendly one made it into quite a few photos.

Some of our DIY details included custom cornhole sets and lawn jenga that Nick and his Dad made by hand in the garage and then Nick and I painted. Nick and I also spray painted all of the little gold animals that were seen throughout things, including the seating cards, I wrote all the guests names out and made all the escort cards.

My favorite moment was definitely meeting Nick at the end of the aisle, it was the happiest moment of my life… and he promptly burst into happy tears which developed into laughter when he couldn’t compose himself (very well documented by our photographer). It was happy and funny and very emotional… a priceless moment on so many levels. That being said, the ceremony in general was our favorite part. The rain let up just long enough for us to have the ceremony outside. We didn’t think we were going to be able to do that, and had only set up chairs, no decor, and it turned out we really didn’t need any. It was perfect just as it was, under the tree. We were married by one of my best friend’s mother, who has watched our group of friends grow through relationships and experiences since we were in middle school. She knows me (and all of us) very well and has performed the marriage ceremony for 3 of my best girlfriends, including my maid of honor. I also was able to get dressed in my childhood bedroom and watch my guests arrive from my window (you can see me in the top right window looking out in a wedding dress on one of the pictures of the house) which was so surreal and amazing.

Even if you are the most organized, or most laid-back person in the world, something will not go as you hoped or expected it would on your wedding day. It will still be the best day of your life. I promise. We planned a wedding with a lot of outdoor elements, including lawn games, and Chinese lanterns that we were going to light at night and it rained the. entire. day. EXCEPT, it held off just long enough for us to get married under the tree in my parents yard which was amazing. Even if the rain hadn’t held off we still had a ton of fun dancing the night away with all of our favorite people.

Philadelphia Greenhouse Wedding

It’s been a few years since I walked down the aisle (ok, maybe more than a few), but sometimes I come across a wedding detail that truly makes me wish I could it all over again. Well, let’s just say this gorgeous bride’s stunning Amsale dress totally had me at hello. And really, so did every other detail planned by Truly You Events and captured by Robert And Kathleen Photographers. And it’s all waiting for you in the VAULT.

From Robert And Kathleen PhotographersJenna and Jimmy locked eyes for the very first time in a decidedly unromantic location: a terminal at JFK Airport. But that moment kicked off a whirlwind romance that would change their lives forever. But, there in the airport, they were strangers to one another. Jimmy was drawn to Jenna’s sweet smile; she to his kind eyes. They introduced themselves and were each pleasantly surprised to discover that they were both set to depart for the very same destination – embarking on a Birthright trip to Israel.

They spent the next ten days exploring Israel together. The hours they spent sitting next to each other on a bus taking them from city to city serving as the ultimate series of first dates. They had hours to talk uninterrupted and got to know one another pretty well over those miles traveled together. By the time the trip came to an end, they knew there was something between them that they couldn’t ignore. The end of the trip meant they had to return to their respective homes, which just happened to be on opposite sides of the country – Jimmy in LA, Jenna in Boston. They spent the next year and a half dating long distance, making time each and every day to talk and visiting as often as they could. At the end of the summer in 2012, Jimmy moved to NYC for business school and they were both delighted to finally be in the same time zone. They continued their not-quite-as-long distance for another year as Jenna completed graduate school in Boston.  After Jenna completed her program, they were finally able to live in the same city together, settling into the NYC’s scenic Chelsea neighborhood.  Once again, they explored together; finding new restaurants to visit and enjoying daily runs on the city’s west side.

That spring, Jimmy concocted a ruse to bring Jenna over to one of their favorite spots on the Hudson River. He asked her to walk down Pier 43 – an unusual request, but Jenna didn’t think much of it at the time. When they got down to the end of the pier, Jimmy surprised her by dropping down on one knee and asking her to be his wife. It was the question she had known the answer to since those days together in Israel so many years before.  Of course she would be his wife, they were meant to find each other. This September, they will become husband and wife.

Modern

From The Bride…The vision for our wedding began with the Venue. We knew without a doubt we wanted to use the Cescaphe group. They are the best in Philadelphia with superior service and an excellent reputation. We wanted the venue to reflect us, and Tendenza is just that, Modern chic! We wanted all the elements of the day to reflect that as well. Starting with the dress , it was the fist one I tried on and it was classic yet modern with the delicate tulle flowers on the bottom. The then inspired the flower paper wall. We are both creative people and smart with our finances – trying to make our wedding very personal without spending unnecessary amounts of money.

We wanted the wedding to have distinct style. The flowers had to be unique and a soft pastel color pallet. Our Florist was unbelievable, they truly made our vision come to life . Unlike any typical florist they have amazing creativity and passion which shines through their work. Considering Tendenza has so many bold features already, we incorporated black and white stripes to really balance the classic and modern feel. Also having books with love related titles to reflect “our love story. ” The bridesmaids dresses we chose were in a neutral tone in tulle fabric to coordinate with the tulle flowers on my dress. The groomsman looked rather dapper in a light navy suit and a soft pale pink tie. I loved how the bridesmaids and groomsman looked amazing together yet they didn’t “match” perfectly.

The most appreciated vendor of our wedding day was Matthew. Our photographer. We didn’t choose him only for his creative way of capturing the moments and emotions of our day . But for his kindness and patience. The day flew by and I didn’t even realize he was there, yet after seeing the pictures it made me realize he (and his staff) didn’t miss anything from our day. After planning and prepping and dreaming up what would be our perfect wedding day, we were so happy to have it all come together and we wouldn’t have chosen any other people to make our day just perfect!!

Enchanting Late Summer Garden Wedding in Philadelphia

On a scale of 1-10 if we were to rate just how much we love this wedding it would be off the charts (I’m talking level 15) in terms of our obsession. Because any day that has La Petite Fleur crafting florals and Lori Gail Photography behind the lens is sure to be a new favorite. Join us as we revel in the pretty and see it all for yourself in THE VAULT

From the Bride… We wanted the decor for our wedding to reflect both the decadence of the Gilded Age Glen Foerd mansion as well as the natural beauty of its setting along the Delaware River. La Petite Fleur, designed a decor plan that carried the tree theme throughout, from our invitations and tree favors to planting a tree during the ceremony, the escort card display table, and the names of each reception table, seemed a fitting symbol of both new beginnings and enduring strength. As our officiant quoted, “He who plants a tree believes in the future.”

We met on the first day of orientation for our Masters degree programs at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs, where Eric studied International Security Policy and Caitlin studied Economic and Political Development. Eric proposed on a dock at sunset at Loblolly house, designed by Caitlin’s dad, where the Kieran family and friends spend many of their weekends (our save the dates actually featured a painting of this dock by our friend and neighbor). We planned to visit Nicaragua for our honeymoon, but when we went to check in online the morning after the wedding, we discovered that Eric’s passport had expired. Fortunately, Eric had the bright idea that we visit Puerto Rico instead. We immediately changed our flights, joined our friends and family for brunch and solicited suggestions for things to do and see in Puerto Rico, booked a few hotels, and flew out that evening. It turned out to be an amazing alternative to Nicaragua.

We decided to get a self-uniting marriage license and asked that everyone present at the ceremony serve as witnesses to our vows and do all in their power to support us in our marriage. A number of friends and family offered their musical talents to add some personal touches to the ceremony and reception. During the ceremony, Caitlin’s brother Chris Kieran sang “My Love is an Arbutus,” accompanied by Geoff McDonald, a Kieran family friend. Kathleen Knighton, Caitlin’s friend, performed an original song that she wrote for the wedding entitled, “Ask Me Again.” Another friend, Bethany Kessler, played the cello during the processional and recessional. At the reception, Chris Kieran performed “Come Fly With Me,” accompanied by Grand Tribeca Band, while Eric danced with his mom and Caitlin with her dad. And members of Caitlin’s college a cappella group, Something Extra of Yale University, sang Moondance.

Caitlin is a Senior Research Assistant for the CGIAR Research Program on Policies, Institutions, and Markets, led by the International Food Policy Research Institute, where she monitors and supports the incorporation of gender analysis within the program’s research portfolio and conducts research on issues related to gender, agriculture, and assets. Eric is a Lead Engineer and Senior Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst with Booz Allen Hamilton where he prototypes new tools and analytic methodologies and researches threat actors, techniques, and trends in cybersecurity. They live in Washington, DC with their dog (and ring bearer) Tobias.

Intimate Villanova University Wedding

Having met my fiance at university, this story of two Villanova grads who met at school warms my heart. The two married at Villanova’s chapel by none other than the president of the university! This beautiful blush wedding captured by Krista Jones is full of Croatian traditions like rosemary sprigs and ribbon dancing is full of love, happiness, and so much more. See more in THE VAULT!

From The Bride…We met at Villanova as undergrads so we knew that the St. Thomas of Villanova chapel on campus was the only place we could envision saying I do! We were lucky enough that the president of the university agreed to say our wedding mass which made it extra special for us and all of our fellow alumni in attendance. We hand made and calligraphed our invitations, including the save-the-dates which featured a custom oil painting of our church created by the groom’s artist aunt as a special wedding gift. We had the reception at the Duportail House, a gorgeous revolutionary war mansion in Valley Forge, which served as the inspiration for the french countryside decor complete with arrangements of gardens roses and dahlias in silver compotes, along with romantic candelabras.

From Krista A. Jones… The bride’s family is Croatian, so we incorporated many Croatian traditions from homemade rose liquors, to Croatian folk music during dinner, and of course, the pinning of rosemary sprigs with red, white, and blue ribbons to the lapels of all 50 of our guests for good luck! We also served a Wall Street themed cocktail list as both the groom and bride were former investment bankers. The day was made extra special by the fact that it was also the groom’s parents 34th wedding anniversary!

Al Fresco Summer Wedding at Tyler Arboretum

Family and friends all played a part in this rustic and romantic summer celebration from the officiant and crafted invitations to the homebrewed beer and candles atop the tables, making this special occasion sparkle even more. Another good friend, Eddie Winter of Readyluck, snapped away, capturing every moment to remember – see it all in our VAULT right this way!

From the Bride… Josh and I really wanted to include our friends and family in the wedding as much as possible. My cousin and bridesmaid, Jill, designed the Save-the-Date cards and invitations and had them printed in Baltimore, MD. We asked our good friend, Angelika, who we used to practice yoga with, to create and officiate the ceremony. Our friend, Evan, traveled from Portland to DJ the reception and after-party. A beer connoisseur and a friend we used to climb with on the east coast, Andrew, brewed four kegs of homemade beer for us. My dad picked all the wine and champagne. Our good friend Eddie Winter of READYLUCK, who we used to practice yoga with and shot many good memories of our budding relationship, came full circle and shot the photos at our wedding. Another friend, Angela, made candles for our dinner tables – Angela also gave me the pair of shoes I ended up wearing for the wedding. Our friend, Max, helped announce the wedding party and transition from dinner to dancing. One of the groomsmen, Keith, and Josh’s friend, Tim, rented out an AirBnB for everyone to party after the party.

I really wanted the color palette to showcase the rainy days of spring on the east coast (and Portland!), so I chose deep blues, greens and purples with small pops of red. My mom and I suggested ferns, red roses, green helleborus, delphinium, fiddleheads, purple sweet pea, blue thistle, and eucalyptus for the floral arrangements – Buttercup did a fabulous job, I loved the artichoke and protea flower they stuck in the bridesmaid bouquets to make them each unique! I wanted the bridesmaids, Caroline and Jill, to pick out dresses that were within the color palette and that had interesting textures, but something that they were totally comfortable in and that they would wear again. I loved my mom’s dress too – she actually picked hers out first and set the trend of how I wanted my ladies to look.

Josh was in charge of the cake – he wanted a “naked cake” with fruit and cream filling. We stuck some flowers on the outside to add some personality to it. It was delicious!

My favorite moment was turning the corner to come down the aisle and seeing all of my friends and family – when I realized that everyone was there to support Josh and me, I was overwhelmed by the love that surrounded us. Other favorite moments of mine were getting ready in the morning with my ladies, listening to everyone laugh and sniffle as Josh said his vows, and dancing with all of our friends and family. It was also a very special moment when everyone stopped to honor my brother who passed away earlier that year. Josh said his favorite moment was the first look when we met under this beautiful big tree by ourselves before the ceremony; and hanging out with all of our friends from both the east and west coast at the after-party. It was such a special time!

Rustic + Elegant Fall Wedding

You know what makes me happy?  This wedding.  This rustic meets elegant Pittsburgh affair featuring one of the cutest duos you will ever virtually meet.  Pair their awesome love story + never-ending smiling faces with a fabulous team of vendors (ahem, The Event Group) and it’s the best way ever to spend your Tuesday. See it all captured by Tim Will Photography in THE VAULT right here.

From the Bride… Although Ben and I had not officially met one another until we were in our 20’s living in New York City, it seems that our lives were intertwined from the very beginning. Not only did we grow up a mere five blocks away from one another, but we also went to the same high school and sleep away camp. Our families also knew each other and urged us to meet one another, hoping we would make a connection. What can I say, they were absolutely right!

We knew we wanted to have an outdoor fall wedding in our hometown of Pittsburgh, and luckily the weather was on our side! We were going for a look that was elegant, but that also incorporated whimsical touches and an overall understated feel. An abundance of eucalyptus set an organic, backyard tone to the evening with gorgeous soft pops of color. Our intricately lit tent was draped with thousands of string lights, making the whole evening feel truly magical.

It’s hard to say what the most memorable part of the day was, but I think it was the moment when we were standing under the Chuppah and we turned around to look out at the crowd, realizing that our favorite people on the planet, our best friends and family members, were right there with us celebrating our big day! Another special moment was while everyone moved to the dance floor immediately following the ceremony, Ben and I took a moment for ourselves in our cousin’s 1961 shasta camper, sharing a glass of champagne and soaking everything in!

From the Bride… After nine years of dating, our families could not wait for this wedding. We knew we wanted our wedding to be simple, have really great food, and for everyone to dance the night away. Our venue was not only the perfect mix of urban modern and rustic I was looking for, but it also had a guacamole bar, which played a bigger part in my decision that I’d like to admit. I mean, guacamole and fish tacos at a wedding? Sold!

The week of the wedding we received news of a hurricane almost as bad as Sandy could be hitting the area. I was so worried my out-of-town guests flying in (and two out of six girls in my bridal party!) wouldn’t make it. Also my dreams of having lush outdoor photos were dashed. I emailed my photographer a couple dozen times asking for all of the “indoor” places we could take pictures if the weather ended up not holding up. There was no hurricane here, but definitely not beautiful weather. The best part is that not only did my bridal party make it, our pictures were beyond gorgeous and I’m so happy we didn’t get to take the photos outside. The architecture of the train station and platform are some of my favorites!

Our wedding ceremony was officiated by our sister-in-law, and her son was the ring bearer. It was really important to us to have someone we know and love guide us through such a significant step in our lives. It was also important to us to honor both families traditions, our ceremony was beautiful and extremely personal.

Thanks to our awesome DJ, we had the most amazing dance party. All of our friends and family had such a great time. I don’t think my husband and I left the dance floor all night. It was even better than I could have imagined!

Styled Snapshots’ Kendall Johnson’s Timeless + Feminine Autumn Wedding

When the Bride is fashion blogger bride Kendall Johnson of Styled Snapshots, it’s no surprise that her wedding is stylish, glam and full of wow moments. From the beautiful Minted invitation suite and pretty Donna Morgan bridesmaids’ dresses to the pretty BHLDN reception décor, this gorgeous autumn wedding will convince you to have a fall fête. See all the reasons why from to Rachel Pearlman Photography in THE VAULT!

From Rachel Pearlman PhotographyStyle Blogger Kendall Johnson of Styled Snapshots loves fall, fashion, and her hometown, so naturally an October affair in Philadelphia was a done deal for her wedding to Matthew Kremer. As a well known fashion blogger renowned for her classic and timeless fashion sense, Kendall’s overall design goal was to implement the spirit of autumn, while keeping things feminine and blended. After an intimate church ceremony at an historic Philadelphia chapel, Kendall and Matt celebrated at The Ballroom at the Ben — the very backdrop of the famous dancing scene between Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence of ‘Silver Linings Playbook.’ How fun!

Kendall’s gown was a creme beauty from Stefan Jolie, which was complimented by gray gowns by Donna Morgan, who also collaborated with Kendall on her big day. Synderela, a bespoke wedding down designer based in New York, collaborated with Kendall on the flower girl tutus. Kendall chose gold and glittery Kate Spade for her pumps and clutch, adding pops of sparkle to her chic, classic look.

The NYC-based couple collaborated with a few amazing vendors to bring their vision to life; Minted designed the couples’ classic white invitation suite with grey script. Simple gold and creme place-cards and a custom drink menu were perfectly elegant. BHLDN supplied some most amazing decor for the ballroom – table numbers, cocktail votives, champagne flutes, cake knife and server, and an envelope holder. Kendall’s idea to paint pumpkins gold was an elegant nod to fall, that kept with the formality of her venue. Chrissy from Market Fresh Florals is a family friend and worked directly with Kendall to bring her vision to life.

Philadelphia is Kendall’s hometown, and The Ballroom at the Ben is one of Philadelphia’s oldest wedding venues. It was used for the infamous dancing scene between Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence in the Academy Award winning film ‘Silver Linings Playbook’. St. Peter’s Church has an incredible history, and many revolutionary war heroes are buried in its’ ceremony. The first service at St. Peter’s Church was held on September 4, 1761, and the church has been in continuous use ever since. After Kendall and Matt made the decision that they would get married at St. Peter’s Church (found by happenstance while roaming the City), Kendall’s mother revealed that she lived across the street at one point and would look at this church daily, never in a million years dreaming of having a daughter who would then one day get married there.

Touch of Boho Jewel-Toned Wedding Inspiration

I’m generally pretty neutral when it comes to color, tossing in a dash of happy hue in here and there. But this dose of jewel-toned inspo from Brianna WilburLaurel & Elm EventsPetals With Style and team has me re-thinking everything. It’s the definition of cheer (who doesn’t want a cheerful wedding?!) and you can soak up more color-love right here in THE VAULT.

From Brianna Wilbur PhotographyOne of the greatest things about being a photographer is feeding your creative soul by finding like minded creatives to make something lovely happen just for the purpose of celebrating our mutual love of beautiful things. I have been forever drawn to Anna Campbell gowns. Lora of Laurel & Elm Events and myself both were feeling very inspired by jewel tones in general – rich navy, plums, merlots, emeralds and purples. We desired to create a shoot around this color scheme that was a bit moody yet remained romantic, sophisticated, slightly european feeling, with a touch of bohemian flair. We carried our jewel theme through the shoot from the cake, the jeweled chocolates & chocolate bark, the bride’s bold eye shadow, the groom’s suit, the florals, place cards, tablescape, and the setting itself. We love how we kept this shoot very detailed & styled but realistic & in reach for future brides to work with! The bride’s braid was the perfect touch to keep this shoot feeling relaxed & undone. It rained the entire day, however, the overcast sky only added to the specialness of this inspirational bridal shoot. It’s also wonderful proof to future brides that beautiful images can be made amongst dreary weather. We hope you love this as much as we do! Every single person involved was so enthusiastic about making every little detail of this shoot wonderful!

Elegant Outdoor Fall Wedding with an Apple Orchard Ceremony

Most autumn weddings are done in shades of rusty oranges, golden yellows and warm reds, so this fall wedding with its navy, cream and sage green color scheme is a breath of crisp fresh fall air. Complete with photography from Emily Wren Photography, tunes from Lovesick, and hair and makeup from True Beauty Marks, it doesn’t get more lovely than this. See it all in THE VAULT!

From Emily Wren PhotographyHeather & Rob were married on a lovely fall day at the bucolic John James Audubon Center. Everything about this wedding was stylish! The bride & groom were simply overjoyed to be marrying one another, and their emotion shines through their portrait session. Heather looked stunning in her delicate Rebecca Schoneveld lace dress and Jimmy Choo silver wedges. Belovely Floral Design did a spectacular job on their flowers and signage – I especially loved the welcome sign at the entrance of their ceremony. The ceremony took place in an apple orchard under a beautiful altar made of wood and further decorated with flowers and ferns. Wedding guests enjoyed signature cocktails on the sprawling lawns of the property, then moved inside the 19th century barn for the reception, which was adorned with market lights and blush and green florals, also by Belovely.
