From the Bride… Mike and I live and work in Mississippi, but when we got engaged we knew we wanted to get married in my home state of Oregon. I had been to a wedding many years earlier at Bridal Veil Lakes and knew I wanted to get married there. We researched loads of venues, but none captured everything that is wonderful about the northwest quite like Bridal Veil, located just outside Portland in the Columbia Gorge.

Since many of our guests traveled a long distance for the celebration, we wanted to make sure the weekend was stress free by providing welcome bags and a variety of activities. In true Portland tradition, the food was the highlight of the weekend. The rehearsal dinner menu featured paella and warm banana-cream cheese malassadas, while the reception menu featured beef brisket with smoky BBQ sauce, white cheddar grits, and banana pudding, served family style, a nod to the groom’s southern heritage. Our guests are still raving about the food.

Getting married in the Pacific Northwest, we were lucky enough to have an outdoor venue with loads of natural beauty. Because of that, I wanted a very organic, simple look. We wanted a very intimate feel since many of our guests had travelled far, so dinner was served family style and the tables were full of candlelight.

All paper elements at the ceremony and reception were DIY. I’m lucky to have many talented friends who designed the signage and did the calligraphy for the escort cards. Other DIY elements included the escort card display, the photo booth background, the POP letters at the popcorn station, and the floral monograms over the dance floor.

Being surrounded by friends and family, ages 3 to 93, breaking it down on the dance floor at the end of the night. My dad broke out in Gangnam Style halfway through the night and got the whole crowd dancing. A synchronized dance to Abba’s Dancing Queen may have also went down.

Romantic Seaside Bridal + Boudoir Inspiration

Koby & Terilyn Brown of Archetype have this way of capturing scenes that completely transcend beauty. It’s elegance drenched in seaside details that’ll have you perusing The Vault for more. With styling and blooms by the talented Roxanne Hallstrom of the Foraged Fern, it’s a gallery of goodness and it’s all waiting for you to dive in, here!

From Koby & Terilyn Brown of ArchetypeWe are excited to share this bridal inspiration with an unexpected mix of sheer romance. I love the rugged coastline in Oregon, and the early morning mist added a beautiful sense of mystery to our setting. The gorgeous beaded lace Joanne Fleming bridal gown was a beautiful contrast to the rocks worn smooth by the high tides. We took the bridal romance further by mixing boudoir into the shoot. It was important to keep the same feel of the bridal so the collection would stay cohesive. Shell Belle’s luxurious lingerie perfectly portrayed the bridal romance we were looking for… beautiful, light, airy pieces that almost make us look twice to see where the bridal stops and the boudoir starts. I hope brides will be inspired to add a little sheer romance to their own shoot, it’s such a fun way to mix sweet and sexy!

Romantic Rose Garden Engagement Session in Oregon

There are exactly a trillion reasons why I love Oregon and this e-sesh accurately depicts every. single. one. A city of roses that is blooming with beauty, this duo captured by the talented Maria Lamb shares an organic connection that is truly magnetic. Snapping humble moments of happiness, every moment is a paramount of pretty and you can see it all take shape in The Vault!

From Maria LambI have special connections with all of my clients, but these two really left an impression on me. Because they each have extremely busy schedules, they rarely get to see each other. Capturing their affection for one another came naturally during our time and I couldn’t get over how sweet and gentle they were!

The delicate florals and natural greenery of the surroundings of the arboretum, rose garden and park were the perfect backdrop to their tender love for each other. Their countenance was reserved and quiet, but they weren’t afraid to goof off and laugh together.I felt honored to capture this elegant couple as they prepare to enter in to a lifetime together!

From The Styling Team…Linda and Sean celebrated their love for each other and the PNW outdoors in a romantic wedding near Mt Hood. They exchanged vows surrounded by gorgeous mountains and lush greenery at The Resort at the Mountain. As many of the guests were traveling from out-of-state, The couple planned a full weekend of activities and fun for their semi-destination wedding. They set the tone for their soiree with custom spinner save-the-dates from Tie That Binds and welcome totes, full of local goodies, maps, and activity itineraries for their guests upon arrival.

Vintage maps, compasses, and wooden trunks carried the destination/travel theme through to the wedding and reception. Blum Floral perfectly captured Linda’s vision of lush, garden, romantic floral that complimented the natural mountain surroundings and local produce. The stylish couples love for adventure and outdoors shone through with a custom monogram cake topper and topography detail on the menus. In lieu of numbers, the couple named each table after one of their favorite hikes and displayed the luggage tag escort cards on “Linda & Sean’s Adventure Map”. Homemade jam favors, vintage globes, and natural wood touches filled this wedding with steal-worthy PNW beauty!

From Christa-TaylorWhat makes a wedding stand out is the emotions that I see and capture throughout the day. This wedding had all that and more. Linda and Sean are very different, but simultaneously a beautiful compliment to each other. Isn’t that what makes a good marriage? Two different people that help each other grow and become better together.

Their love story began online in a tiny town off the California coast and culminated in the verdant hills at the base of Mt Hood. To everyone watching, their love was tangible, happiness so deep it overflowed in tears throughout the day. For me, it was watching Sean hold his wife, breathing her in, while the golden light reflected off her dark hair…it was magic! Captured on fine art film, it was an evening to remember.

Rustic + Romantic Oregon Engagement Session

After meeting in a bar room blunder, these two cuties started traveling the world together but their greatest adventure just might be what’s right ahead of them as they get ready to say their “I do’s.” But before that big leap later this summer, they headed to Oregon to explore Wahclella Falls, while Maria Lamb snapped away, capturing plenty of postcard-worthy pics to reflect on for years to come.

From the Bride-to-be… 11 years ago I took a waitressing job at the local college bar to help pay my way through school. A few weeks in I turned the corner too quickly and ran into the bar-back who was carrying several cases of beer. Behind those cases of beer was the cutest guy with bright blue eyes and a smile that suddenly made me feel a little bit better about the mess I’d just made. I was mortified to say the least, but took the opportunity to introduce myself. Brad and I became fast friends and eventually started dating.

We jointly discovered a passion for travel and set out on numerous trips around the world. In September 2014 we planned a trip to Turkey and Greece. We had a list of sights to see, places to eat and little to my knowledge, a place for Brad to propose. A private evening cruise on the Bosphorus in Strait Istanbul, Turkey will hands down always be my favorite adventure. It is where Brad asked me to marry him and I joyfully accepted.

We both love the outdoors, so we wanted everything about our wedding to reflect that. We found an incredible wedding venue just outside of Lake Tahoe, California and set the date for a late August wedding.

Photography was a top priority, so I started researching shortly after we booked our venue. Maria’s images spoke to me the moment I saw them and I knew I had to talk to her. It was love at first chat and Maria was quickly booked to capture our wedding day. We opted to take advantage of Maria’s portrait session and booked a weekend adventure to Oregon. It was magical to say the least and I am so thankful we did it. Maria and her husband Jordan are two of the most genuine, fun-loving individuals to spend a day with. We immediately felt like old friends, which made the entire experience so special. As you can see from our photos, Maria has an amazing talent for capturing the moments in between and the raw beauty of Mother Nature. I can’t wait to look back at these photos over the years and remember just how young and carefree we were.

We simply can’t wait to see what she will capture at our upcoming wedding!

Forever Fields Lavender Engagement Session

Building a beautiful beginning is easy when your e-sesh just so happens to look like this. I’m talking endless miles of lavender coupled with sweethearts sharing kisses. If you were to ask me, it just doesn’t get any better, but Anna Marie Film PhotoArt proves that it does in fact get better. And it’s all in a gallery filled with goodness! Revel in their beautiful beginning right over here!

From Anna Marie Film PhotoArt… When Corinna and Timmer asked me to take their engagement photos I was thrilled. I was even more ecstatic when they told me they had a vision of taking their pictures in a lavender field (Dreamy!). We headed on over to Lavender Fields Forever, which is a beautiful farm nestled in our Southern Oregon Applegate valley.

This venue perfectly accented their upcoming wedding palette of mint and lavender. I adore how well Fuji film brings out the pastel tones in this gorgeous setting. We combined some DIY calligraphy as well as florals.

It was such a pleasure being able to capture their love on film! Thank you guys for giving me the honor and congratulations on your wedding this upcoming year.

Rustic + Romantic Oregon Riverbed Bridal Inspiration

I’ve always adhered to a “the more natural, the better” philosophy when it comes to beauty (though, like any girl, I can’t resist a bold bridal lip!), and the windswept tresses and au naturel vibe that this model bride is sporting here have totally got me weak in the knees. Full of rustic charm and romantic details, the full gallery of this bridal inspiration shoot from Lahna Marie will have you swooning in no time.

From Lahna MarieThis shoot was dreamed out of the sighting of a location in Southern Oregon that was just a beautiful dried up river bed. What better way to celebrate the beauty of the place than to develop a styled shoot there. Henna art was added as the unique detail for this shoot with hand drawn henna rocks from the bed as favors for the guests, and a skeleton tipi for a romantic sit down and photo opportunity for the bride. Henna art was also painted on the bride as a tie in to the theme of the shoot and added a very boho romantic tribal feel to the shoot. The idea behind the Henna is to offer brides another creative outlet to adding finishing touches and details to their wedding day attire if it is done right. The color pallet was definitely earth colors and we added an earthy element with our weathered clay pots. Hues of grey, brown, peach, orange, yellow, sand and silver all fell together well for a finished product that we hope you and your brides will find inspiring when planning their own wedding.

Stormy Oregon Coast Styled Shoot

Speaking as a native Oregonian I’m about to spill a local secret. The beaches? Well, they’re unbelievable. Take this enchanting day from Stephanie Mballo. It’s a misty morning juxtaposed against vibrant blooms, in what I like to coin as crazy beautiful stormy coastal chic. See it all here!

From The Foraged FernThe stormy clouds and dark cliffs couldn’t have provided a dreamier location. We wanted to mix a combination of coastal neutrals with deep moody florals. It really added a more dramatic feel to the typical beach look. One of my biggest goals was to find the perfect pale blue gown. As soon as I found this Gossamer gown I knew it was perfect. I could envision the soft flowing sleeves in the wind and the back layers mocking the crashing waves.

Romantic + Intimate Elopement in Oregon

Elopements are my weakness. Not only are they utterly romantic, but most of the time they occur in some seriously gorgeous settings. Like this sweetly intimate affair from the lens of Nikita Lee Photography set amongst the rolling hills of Oregon that’s got me weak in the knees. After hiking to exchange vows their day was complete with a champagne picnic, and you can see it all unfold here!

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/132377375 600 338]

From the beautiful Bride… Adam and I met through church through our dear friend Luke. 4 years later, Adam proposed to me on a cliff overlooking the beautiful Oregon coast. That moment, I knew I wanted to get married in that very same spot. It was the most beautiful place I’ve ever been and it now held a special meaning to me.

Adam and I both agreed we wanted our wedding day to small and intimate. We wanted someone to capture all of our tender moments and the day to be about our family and Christ. So we decided to elope!

Our close friend Luke married us and Adam’s brother, Larry, and Larry’s wife, Kourtney (also a very good friend of mine) were our witnesses. Our son, Carter, came with us too.

I reached out to Nikita Lee Photography and she was so excited that we wanted her to photograph our day. She partnered up with Hunting Ground Films and they made our wedding day nothing short of magical. Nikita also introduced me to Bramble Floral Designs to make my bouquet. I wanted something earthy and pretty, and she did exactly that.

Everything was simple, elegant, and perfect.

The hike to the top of the rolling green hills is a long one, but totally worth it. Because the area is a protected trail, there is wildlife everywhere. Birds singing, deers moving about quietly, and squirells running up trees. And everything is so GREEN! You also cross over a few small streams. The most precious part of this hike though is when you come out of the forest and all you see is the big blue ocean and bright green hills everywhere. The view will leave you in awe.

So, I hiked up in my Nike Frees, then kicked them off and got married!

We wrote our own vows and and read them through tears of happiness. Luke read from his bible and reminded us what marriage is all about. Afterwards we had a small picnic with snacks and champagne!

After our hike back down, we had lunch at Kyllos in Lincoln City, OR.

Our day was exactly how we wanted it: full of love, laughs, and the Holy Spirit.

July 18th will forever be the best day of my life.

Rustic + Romantic Farm to Table Wedding Inspiration

Summer, to me, means taking a step back to enjoy the moment, and appreciate all the little details that make this time of year so special. And this gorgeous inspiration shoot from Christa-Taylor does just that, with a blend of understated elegance, seasonal fruits (real and watercolored!), and cheeky and sweet signage, that all come together to make something truly beautiful. See it all in the full gallery here!

From Christa-Taylor… The rich farmland presents such a vivid array of colors and inspiration for brides in the Northwest. All captured on fine-art film, this shoot was designed around the farm-to-table concept bringing in lush produce, seasonal greens and vendors who highlight the best of what the local farms have to offer.

No event is complete without first sending the invitations, and the hand-calligraphy of Katie Michelle really captured our fancy. Nestled in amongst the peach trees, we festooned the table with an abundance of peonies, poppies, and eucalyptus all the beautiful handiwork of Form and Flora. Square plates brought the perfect touch of modernity complemented by personalized linen napkins and green stemware.

Escort cards were pinned to fresh fruit and doubled as edibles for the guests. Because outdoor events can vary in temperature, we opted for local pies as the star of our dessert bar, with homemade jams as a take-home favor. Mini paper books in customizable color waves made darling bridal party gifts and doodle books for the little ones. Our bride strolled through the trees on the arm of her husband wearing the enviable gowns from Stephanie D Couture. When it was all said and done, I think the thing we loved the most was richness of it all – so much sumptuous colors and textures to soak in. It truly was farm-to-table.

Jewel Tone Wedding Inspiration at The Old Schoolhouse

A restored schoolhouse in Newberg, Oregon served as the inspiration for this shoot styled by J29 Events and photographed by Gabriela Ines, and we’re completely obsessed. You’ll find romance and drama in the vibrant colors of crimson and cobalt (getting us in the right mood for our weekend festivities!), blooms from Ponderosa and Thyme, and a to-die-for canopy of peacock feathers! There’s much more to see in the full gallery right here!

From Gabriela Ines PhotographyThe inspiration for this shoot came from the venue itself. The Old Schoolhouse is a gorgeous and unique new venue in the Portland, OR area. I was inspired by its dramatic and enchanting look and wanted to style a shoot that showcased the venue’s original features. Nicole from J29 events ran with the idea of jewel tones and created a beautiful scene that included a tablescape full of color and lush foliage from Ponderosa and Thyme. The dramatic and elegant look of this shoot highlighted the authenticity of this repurposed Oregon venue.

Romantic Rustic Wedding Inspiration

In my option, styled shoots are something be behold. You see, not only are they beautiful beyond measure, but they also add some major inspo by pushing the style envelope. Like this pretty that redefines rustic with gorgeous garlands and organic elements. It’s an editorial that has us pinning, and Josselyn Peterson has it all waiting for you in the gallery!

From Josselyn Peterson PhotographerThis styled shoot was to inspire couples to push their rustic wedding into something above and beyond. We used a rustic, wooden farm table with wooden crossback chairs to give it a rustic feel, but then added tapered candles, gold accents, and more formal florals to give it a more romantic feel. While as a photographer I love outdoor weddings and receptions, staging this beautiful table in front of a grand stone fireplace in a lodge with clean lines and large windows letting in wonderful natural light to give the table warmth and an intimate feel. Everything for this styled shoot was put together to give off that refined rustic look with an organic, easy feel. The portraits were done outdoors just as the sun was setting being the mountains to keep that light and airy feeling while maximizing the romance of those last moments of light. I hope you enjoy everything!

Oregon State Park Engagement Session

Sometimes all it takes to have a successful engagement shoot, is a really pretty backdrop and a great photographer. Which this couple clearly had. But in this case, they also had a little dose of adorableness and one really stinking cute pup. And the result? Frame-worthy lovely, captured to perfection by Corinne Krogh. And there is more here!

From Corinne KroghKayla and David, with their sweet pup named Blue, traveled from Los Angeles up to Smith Rock for their engagement session. Inspired by a timeless setting and expansive nature, they chose neutral tones to be the grounding theme of their images. We arrived just after the sun had risen and had a magical time exploring the area, sharing the space with deer grazing and climbers preparing for their day’s ascent. The area has been special to Kayla and David for years and it was a honor to capture their love in such a gorgeous location.

Glamorous 1920s Portland Wedding

When it comes to a themed wedding, you’re either IN or your OUT. And this couple – photographed to utter perfection by Yasmin Khajavi Photography – is so in that it makes me a little teary eyed. The elegance, the execution, the details…all so entirely lovely, both on theme and in a totally timeless way. While we’ve pulled some of our favorite images here, take some time to enjoy the gallery where 20’s glam reigns Queen.

From Yasmin Khajavi Photography… Kelly and Tony married at LeftBank Annex, a perfect urban venue with large windows, brick, and industrial style. They transformed it into their awesome 20’s style, with old black and white movies playing on the big screen, with cafe lights strung all around. The table signs, guest seating arrangements, drink signs had the perfect font that matched their theme! Their guest sign in book had a polaroid camera for their guests to snap a photo of themselves and sign next to their photo. And also a cute sign that said “Don a Headband and Join Us for a Night of 1920’s Glamour.” Throughout the evening, guests wore the 20’s style sequined headbands, it was adorable! So many guests also dressed to the theme and wore sequins. Kelly’s cake table had a beautiful sequined tablecloth that also tied in perfectly. Kelly’s diamond headpiece was stunning and looked so good on her! It paired perfectly with their faux-fur shawls that both Kelly and her bridesmaids wore. Kelly and Tony got ready at a hotel downtown, the Sentinel, then the whole bridal party along with Kelly and Tony took the street car through the city to their wedding venue! Kelly had beautiful blush umbrellas as back up plan in case of the northwest rain. They had a personalized marquee displayed with their new last name “Forsyth.” Soft candlelights, cafe lights along with the flower displays tied in perfectly! Their caterer bbq’ed their meal right on-site! They took advantage of the flat screen’s that lined the stairs and had “Welcome to the Wedding of Anthony & Kelly” display.

From the Bride… It was really important to me that our wedding be a reflection of both Tony and I. This was not just my wedding, it was OUR wedding, Tony is a film producer and I have a very vintage esthetic so a 1920s Hollywood theme was the perfect fit for our big day! A day that could not have gone any better. It was a beautiful, calm March day, and we were surrounded by so much love. I felt like the most beautiful woman in the world and I married the man of my dreams and had a blast doing it!

Bohemian Portland Wedding Inspiration

What I love about this shoot isn’t quite as obvious as lovely pictures. And lovely they are, it’s really all about the colors. The textures. The feeling of happy, that seems to fill every last photograph. From the wispy gowns to the floral crowns, every last detail – designed by Lavena B. Vintage with photographs by Andie Reavely – is boho chic entirely steal-worthy. More here!

From Andie ReavelyWanderers, adventurers and vagabond: a community of like-minded folk. The idea of the bohemian is undeniably captivating. With this inspired shoot, we wanted to exhibit the whimsical diversity, yet like-mindedness of a bohemian company.

Everything, from the pom-poms, flower crowns, mismatched glassware and recycled bottles made us want to take our shoes off and breath a little bit deeper and laugh a little more freely.

This troupe of artists and creators was a dream to work with— coincidentally embodying the very concept of this shoot inspiration.

“Sixteen Candles” Inspired Wedding Shoot

If you just so happen to be a Molly Ringwald, 1980’s movie fan – this shoot is for you. And if you have yet to experience the magic that is Sixteen Candles, I’m pretty sure the wedding inspiration will still manage to speak straight to your pretty-loving soul. Captured by SLF, it’s must-see gallery – and can’t miss cake from Country Cake Shop – plus film will have you pinning from start to finish.

[iframe http://player.vimeo.com/video/125635262 600 338]

From SLFThe most important piece for me about this shoot was the people. Not the flowers, the cake, the pretty details. Not the “models.” The two genuine, lively and giddy-in-love individuals we chose to tell our story. Though the details surrounding them are gorgeous, the lovers make the scene. Bryon put the idea of a ’16 Candles’ Inspired Shoot into my head. The table, the birthday cake, the candles. And this vision of a romantic and youthful little love scene that could actually leave a feeling with its viewers, the way a good film does, had me immediately excited.

I worked on planning the shoot that day. Bryon and I are creative commercial filmmaking and wedding cinematographers. We are also professional wedding photographers. It was, and is always, our goal to tell a story and to inspire a feeling. Not just to have you swooning over the pretty details. But to connect you to real people. To give you butterflies. To give ourselves butterflies. To make you cry. To make ourselves cry. This is the first styled shoot Bryon and I have directed ourselves and we did it in passion of real people and the feelings we share with them. A little story of early love. A little dream of young romance and that perfect first kiss, long-awaited. And inspired by that memorable last scene of the 1984 film ‘Sixteen Candles.’ We created our own unique tribute to the scene, with a gorgeous piece of music composed by Tommy Leinonen. We are thankful for all of the amazing and gifted people who had a part in bringing this vision of romance and beauty to life.

Rocky Butte Oregon Anniversary Session

Celebrating love with beautiful photographs beyond a wedding is a must in my book, and I’ll definitely be taking a cue from this sweet duo who marked their two year anniversary with the help of their friend, Faith Teasley. They chose Rocky Butte, an extinct volcanic cinder cone, as the backdrop and the results are breathtaking. Soak it all in here in the gallery.

From Faith Teasley PhotographyCassandra, who just so happens to be my best friend, adores all things European inspired. When we discovered Rocky Butte, an extinct volcanic cinder cone butte in Portland, we knew we had found something special. It’s unique castle like structure and breathtaking views provided a perfect slice of Europe in the Pacific Northwest! Cassandra and Josh are high school sweethearts and have the sweetest story. To celebrate their two-year wedding anniversary, we spent some time documenting their love through fine art film photographs.

From The Bride… Our wedding day was beautiful, romantic and meaningful because we did exactly what we dreamed of without thinking what it would mean to anyone but each other. Oregon has been in my heart since I was a small girl in the 5th grade. A research paper on Crater Lake and Portland, OR and my heart was completely taken. I grew up in Texas and though I traveled often there was something mysterious and beckoning about the northwest. After finally visiting, I knew it was magic. The waterfalls especially awakened my soul in a new way so I always dreamed of getting engaged or married beside one. Matthew proposed at Crater Lake in Oregon (which was amazingly gorgeous) in September of 2014 and we chose to get married as soon as possible. Different ideas swirled around but the only one that really stayed true to who we were was a private February Portland waterfall elopement.

We live in Oklahoma and searched out the perfect wedding location via google images and videos posted online from elopement sites around Portland. I stumbled upon Wahclella Falls and knew at once this was where I wanted to promise my life to Matthew.

We wanted the ceremony to be private, laid back and as carefree as possible which was easy with such a wonderful group of people. It made the day even more perfect that the above are some of our dearest friends. Plus, they didn’t mind hiking a mile in to the wedding spot with all the camera gear and a drone!

I had never seen the waterfall except from online photos until the day before the ceremony. It exceeded all of my wildest dreams and expectations and upon seeing it, Abby and I danced around and laughed like giddy schoolgirls. When the rest of the group hiked in we were all taken away with the beauty of the location. It is other worldly and confirming even more how perfect this location was. One of my childhood dreams was becoming a reality in less than 24 hours.

The next day, I got ready with a group of girl friends. My hair and makeup were done by the amazing Kassandra Sommerville, a Portland makeup artist and hair stylist. My dress was from BHLDN. The bouquet, flower crown and boutonniere were made by my talented friend Bailey from Forest and Field Creative. She foraged for local greenery and stopped along the Portland roads to pick flowers and branches from the side of the road. The only guidance I gave her was to make it wild…and she did. My belt was an Etsy find because all other rhinestone belts were way too pricey. We had Pips donuts and lavender chai lattes while listening to records. The day was full of peace, sunshine, laughter and joy. We took our time and snapped plenty of photos while eating the most amazing treats. Finally it was time to meet the boys at the beginning of the waterfall trail for the first look and all I could remember thinking was how badly I wanted to see my Matthew because I had missed him all day. I piled into the car with Abby and Lauren and we drove the quick 45 minute drive out of the city into the Columbia River Gorge to the Wahclella Falls trailhead.

That first look was everything I had always imagined it would be. Matthew had never looked more handsome! He was standing there with his back towards me and once I reached him and we made eye contact neither one of us could stop smiling. I was just so happy to be close to him again. If there are soul mates then he is definitely mine. We took a few photos then gathered our troop and hiked the one mile trail together on a 60 degree sunny day in Oregon. Seeing people’s reactions was probably one of the funnest parts of the day. So many high fives, well wishes, photos taken, claps and congratulations were given. People smiled as our train of people approached laughing and just so happy to be alive.

We made it to the spot we had planned to for the ceremony and all took position. Jordan guarded the spot perfectly and didn’t allow any unaware hikers to disturb the moment. The ceremony itself was about 15 minutes long with personally written vows, communion, prayer and the exchange of rings. The only part of the ceremony I wished differently was that the wedding band I picked out was to arrive a week after our wedding. We ordered it too late and there was no way the company could get it there in time. I was upset but Matthew ordered me a silver band to wear at the ceremony which would be switched after the other came in the mail. I was so sad inside that the ring I would say my vows with wouldn’t be my actual wedding band but I suppose not everything can be perfect. As we got ready to exchange rings, Matthew pulled my band out of his pocket and it was the exact one I had hoped for! It arrived early and my sweet man kept it a secret from all of us until that moment. I was just so happy in that moment! Speaking of rings, my engagement ring belonged to his great grandmother and is close to 105 years old. So amazing.

We finished the ceremony, let the other hikers join us on the trail then climbed rocks, walked across bridges, hiked into the falls and so many other things to make sure the photos were perfect. So many times I would slip off a rock and Matt would hold me up or push me to a place I could get my footing. Luckily, I was wearing wool socks and hiking boots the entire time. Best decision of the wedding, besides marrying Matthew.

We took hundreds of photos and cuddled and kissed and danced all through the trail. It really was one of the most magical days of my entire life. And it was something I had dreamed of since being a small girl. I am so lucky to have found a man who is just as adventure driven as myself. He truly is my courage and my joy. It’s an honor to be Matthew’s wife. After the photos were completed, we drove back to Portland for a small reception with local friends. It was all entirely sweet and personal and exactly what we wanted. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
