Destination Lake Winnipesaukee Wedding

This is the kind of wedding that warms my little sappy heart right up. The kind where details are a plenty, but it’s the smiles on everyone’s faces that really catch my eye. Turn Loose The Art captured all the heart-warming moments of this Lake Winnipesaukee beauty, and you can see them all here.

From the Bride…Growing up summering at Lake Winnipesaukee wasn’t just a vacation for the DeZenzo clan. When Amy and Kevin got engaged, she couldn’t think of another place she’d like to choose for their wedding. Both grew up on the outskirts of Boston, so they and their families began planning for their destination wedding in Wolfeboro, NH at the Wolfeboro Inn.

Amy threw in a few DIY projects, from the favors (homemade blueberry jam picked on the lake island where they have a summer home) to the drink flags and her brooch bouquet. Her dad has spent years fishing at the lake and has a collection of vintage glass bottles found in the depths, so they used those glasses as vases in the reception. Some Etsy finds include the wedding sign and thumbprint guestbook.

When asked what inspired the wedding design, the bride replied, “LAKE TIME!!! No one takes my dad away from the lake during the summer! You can not interrupt lake time! plus I spent every summer up at the lake so it was always the place I wanted to get married at. You saw it, it really wasn’t that hard to convince Kevin that the lake was the location! So the theme was ‘fun’ carefree fun! Enjoying the lake, nature, but mostly enjoying the people/family that you are with. That is the essence of Lake Time!”

Traditional Backyard Tent Wedding in the Suburbs of Chicago

Traditional weddings have always had my heart, and I don’t see that changing. If they are good enough for the royals, by gosh, they are good enough for me. Their timelessness will never lose its luster, so when I see a classic wedding as gorgeous as this one captured by Cristina G Photography and planned by LOLA Event Productions, I feel like I’ve hit the wedding jackpot. Tented

From Cristina G PhotographyAs a wedding photographer you can’t help but imagine dream weddings you would like to capture… As a Chicago wedding photographer, you can’t help but secretly fantasize about backyard weddings and beautiful Sperry Tents… magical weddings that only seem to happen in California.Well… if there ever was a wedding I dreamed of photographing, but did not dare hope to ever have the chance to, especially in Chicago, it was Lauran & Marty’s wedding. And yes, without a doubt Lauran was one of the most beautiful brides I have had the honor to photograph in my entire career so far. There was so much emotion, so many happy (and sad) tears shed, so much love, that it was hard to pick favorites to share.

Lauran’s inspiration for the wedding was Southern romance. Southern romance under a beautiful Sperry tent! Navy blue and soft pink were the main colors and the actual location of the celebration was the groom’s parents’ backyard. Early fall – a warm September evening. Lots of champagne flowing in beautiful flutes adorned with navy and white straws with little flags inscribed with the guests’ names – these served a double purpose – toast and find your seat! Paper lanterns and pretty dahlia and ranunculus centerpieces welcomed the guests inside the tent. The bridesmaids wore short Amsale navy blue dresses and the tiny ring bearer matched the theme perfectly in his light blue seersucker pants and newsboy hat!

New Hampshire Winter Wedding at Alumni Hall

Winter weddings are the bees knees to me. They are filled with layers and layers of gorgeous texture on top of layers and layers of love, and really – how can you just not love that? This beauty from J. Harper Photography is the perfect example of why I’ll never tire of cold weather weddings, and you can see all the reasons why right here.

From J. Harper PhotographyRustic-chic meets New England Glam! Kinsley is something of a design guru, and her skills were on display at this NYE wedding for sure! She designed her & Nathan’s custom invites, as well as her beautiful vows to her now-hubby. She was so wise with me (her photographer) in requesting specific shots (“frost on window panes, wreaths, sparklers!”), so I went into the wedding with an exact idea of what she was looking for. Genius! If you could only see this room prior to her decorating – it is plain, simple, maybe even a little boring – she absolutely transformed it with TONS of candles (ceremony was no-flash, all candle-lit), twinkle lights, gold & silver accents everywhere (check the bridesmaids gowns!), and hand-picked cloth coasters that her mother & her scavenged for at antique shops. She even did the ole’ Pinterest trick of freezing pine bows in large food cans to create outdoor candle holders for the aisle… I die. I’d hire this woman in a heartbeat to plan my next party!

From Mary Costa PhotographyAbby and Adam had their first date in a coffee shop, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. These two are incredibly kind-hearted and put their loved ones first and foremost. They share a passion for sports, delicious food, and vintage bicycles. Although they live in Southern California, they got married in Amherst, New Hampshire, which happens to be both Abby’s and my hometown! Their day had sun-showers and rumbling thunder during their ceremony, but the weather held out. It was so special taking photos around our hometown center with this wonderful couple. LaBelle Winery provided the perfect backdrop for the rest of their day. Wishing Abby and Adam every joy!

New Hampshire Campground Wedding from Kate Preftakes Photography

I am so obsessed with this wedding, I don’t even know what to say.  Seriously.  This New Hampshire beauty has me at such a loss for words, it’s crazy.  I guess that’s what happens when a team of fabulous vendors (think Exeter Flower ShopTangorra Wedding Planning  and Kate Preftakes Photography) join forces with a stunning bride and groom who seriously couldn’t be cuter (or happier).  Pure magic, lovelies.  Click here for more.

From Kate Preftakes Photography… Courtney and Jay were married on a gorgeous September day at Courtney’s grandparents’ campground. The couple lives in NYC but knew they wanted to have their wedding at this very special place where Courtney and her family have been spending summers since her childhood. This wedding had so many stylish and personal details. It was a marvelous mixture of antiques and modern beauty. I loved everything about this wedding. Courtney was not only gorgeous but calm and wonderful and kind. She and Jay are a perfect pair.

From the Bride… Growing up in CA we always spent the summer in NH at my grandparents’ house on Ayers Lake in NH. I enjoyed summers on the farm fishing, swimming, canoeing etc. When Jay and I started dating, I couldn’t wait to take him to NH. The first time he visited was Christmas years. We spent time with my dad, siblings and grandparents. Jay began to appreciate the tradition of the farm! We have so many special memories there at Ayers Lake. We love to explore my grandmother’s antiques in the barn, listen to her stories about growing up there and truly enjoy the fresh NH air. So when it came time to pick a place to get married we had no reservations! The farm is such a special place for us. We are getting married on the inlet where I used to fish with my grandfather, siblings and cousins. The birch Chuppa is from birch trees found on the property. Jay and his dad built it together this summer. Jay’s mom even planted the garden by the ceremony. We are incorporating so many family “touches” through the day. The cake topper was my grandparents’, Pat and Carolyn from 1950! Old milk jugs, crocks and boxes all came from out “digging” through the barn. We found such great treasures when searching through the barn. My grandmother said some items had not been touched for 100 years! It’s so fun to re-purpose the gems we found on the property.

New Hampshire Winery Wedding from Studio Nouveau

Studio Nouveau is serving up some serious sweetness today with this LaBelle Winery wedding, and I couldn’t love them more for it. With gorgeous light, lovely details and two of the most adorable flower girls I ever did see, it goes without saying that this gallery is one fabulous place to spend some time today. See it all here.

From Studio Nouveau …Tara and PJ’s excitement jumps right out at you. We’ve never seen two people more psyched to get married than these two lovebirds. Their wedding at a brand new winery in New Hampshire was filled with stunning flowers & succulents, fantastic wine (of course, considering the venue), and the absolutely CUTEST flower girls you’ve ever seen. The ethereal details perfectly complimented Tara’s stunning dress, and the peachy-perfect hues of the bridesmaids.

Winter Wedding at the Equinox Resort from A Brit and a Blonde

Yes. This winter wedding near the ski lifts of Vermont wins. At least in my heart. Winter weddings are the absolute best. All that beautiful white snow, and the gray, cold skies make for perfectly rosy cheeks and bright eyes. And this one. Oy, this one is fabulous. A Brit and a Blonde outdid themselves with the beautiful images from the gorgeous winter day.

From Jason & JessicaKarima & Mike are big skiers. They both grew up heading to ski hills with their families. So they knew for their big day – it needed to be a winter wedding near a ski hill. They fell in love with the Equinox hotel in Manchester, Vermont which is nestled right in the mountains and really close to Stratton where Karima went on many ski trips with her family as a child. It was perfect. Right across the street was the 1811 House – where some of their guests stayed and made for some great photos too.

Mike designed a really cute Save the Date which was a lift ticket that they sent to guests. And he also created the vintage ski table numbers for each table and the vintage ski signage. The couple also found old vintage skis which they used instead of having guests sign a book. Such a cool idea and they have them up in their house now as a sweet memory of the day. The flowers were so beautiful and had a wintery feel to them.

We adore Karima’s gorgeous Vera Wang wedding dress. She looked stunning and that black sash really completed the look. Since it was winter, and the couple really wanted some images taken outside – Karima opted for a really gorgeous fur shrug that she bought at a vintage store which kept her nice and warm. Her Kate Spade shoes were picture perfect too.

Newfound Lake Wedding from Kelsey DeWitt Photography

In my humble opinion, it doesn’t get much better than this. An outdoor wedding, near the water, with a neutral color palette and lots of natural touches? Oh, and not to mention a stunning couple that is ridiculously head over heels for each other? Simply the best from Kelsey DeWitt Photography. Simply the best.

From the photographer… “It’s better than Pinterest” could be heard around the Meadow Wind B&B all day on this beautiful September day in Hebron, New Hampshire. This barn wedding was a DIY wedding and had so many small touches that made it very personal this New England couple. The couple chose to get married on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire because that’s where the bride spent summers growing up. The bride’s veil was made by her mother and lots of the wood decor (including the “wood cookies” that the centerpieces were placed on and the cake stand) were all made by the groom’s father who is a logger in Maine. The bride’s side of the family is Scottish and her father surprised the bride with a bagpiper on her wedding day. Framed photos were hanging in the barn from the bride & grooms’ parents’ weddings, symbolizing the two loving households that the bride & groom were separately brought up in, but on this day, the two families became one. It just seemed like it was personal touch, after personal touch that pulled this wedding together. Friends & family of the bride and groom worked hard in the days leading up to the wedding to finalize all the DIY projects and wrap up the small burlap & birch details that all added up to make the bride’s plans come to life. From the bride’s laughter filled morning surrounded by her closest girlfriends lounging in their new personalized robes, to the groomsmen (who were all college runners) going for their usual morning run in their new running shorts given to them as a gift by the groom, to a beautiful first-look on the beach, to the bride & her dad riding in style to the ceremony on the back of a convertible, to a ceremony overlooking Newfound Lake, to a celebration in a barn, and finally ending the night with a sparkler exit– this New Hampshire lakeside wedding was a beautiful non-stop celebration of love & a barn wedding to remember!

Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale. At my last dress appointment before the wedding, I remember reading that quote, which was painted on the dressing room wall at Claire Pettibone in Los Angeles. For as often as I envisioned our wedding day, bringing together friends and family amongst the beauty of New Hampshire at my husband’s family summer home, I still can’t actually believe what an enchanting day it was. After a week of rainy afternoons, travel delays, and last minute preparation chaos, my husband and I were married against an idyllic backdrop. We planned an outdoor ceremony, knowing that the weather could turn at any time, but just as it looked as though another rain shower would begin as I arrived at the aisle, the clouds parted and the sun illuminated our ceremony. Even the loons cried out on queue when our officiant mentioned the nature surrounding us on White Oak Pond.As much work as it was planning a wedding in New Hampshire from our home in LA, looking out at the day, seeing everyone we love surrounding and supporting us on our new adventure, made it all worthwhile. With the help of our vendors, including our tent and tables, caterer, florist, cake baker, and of course, our amazing photographer who captured all of these memories for us, right there, in the middle of our ordinary lives, created our fairy tale.

Castle in the Clouds, New Hampshire Wedding from Erika Follansbee Photography

Bride’s often envision bright, sunshiny days for their I dos, but after taking a peek at this pretty from Erika Follansbee Photography they might just start wishing for a little fog on their big day. It created the perfect ambience for this Castle in the Clouds celebration, if I do say so myself, and made this absolutely beautiful wedding just that much more fabulous. See every last minute of the gorgeous day right here.

From ErikaSamantha and Andy’s summer wedding took place at New Hampshire’s famous Castle in the Clouds–a picturesque historical estate notable for its mountaintop location high above the Lakes Region, and often literally in the clouds. This was definitely the case on their wedding day, when recent rain storms left us in a romantic, atmospheric cloud of fog drifting around the property. The day started with a first look at the beautiful “The Falls of Song,” which is a short hike off the main auto road. Samantha navigated the hike in 3-inch heels and her Maggie Sottero gown with poise and grace to find her groom waiting for her at the waterfall. Sam and Andy were engaged for only seven weeks before their wedding took place, and in that short period of time they were able to assemble a wedding team that utilized the talents and professional reach of mostly family members.

Despite proclaiming herself as “not a flower person,” the wedding bouquets as well as the wildflower arrangements in mason jars at the reception were all DIY by the bride with help from her maids. Sam and Andy also handmade the amazing rustic tealight holders for the reception using four-by-fours found at her parents’ home, staining them, distressing them with hammers, and drilling the holes for the candles. The barn reception resulted in a warm, inviting, casual celebration for their family and friends. [dotted]

From the Bride…Colin and I first met when I was in high school but didn’t start dating seriously until two years later.  We were married in 2002, and since he’s a member of the US Coast Guard we’ve lived in many different places around the country. After the birth of our second child I was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and since then, 2008, our family has been through a lot.  One of the hardest parts through all of this has been my lack of energy that prevents me from running around with my two young children, and having them see me in so much pain. We moved to Portsmouth, NH in 2011 to be closer to our families, and when a friend told me about Wish Upon a Wedding we thought it would be a great opportunity to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary with our children, relatives, and friends.  The prospect of creating happy memories with my son and daughter – dress shopping for a wedding and flower girl dress was a day neither of us will ever forget – was a dream come true, and I can’t thank Wish Upon a Wedding and the generous vendors who donated their products and services enough.

From Tammy Golson EventsTo celebrate Sarah and Colin’s tenth wedding anniversary, the couple, thanks to Wish Upon a Wedding and a team of generous wedding professionals, renewed their wedding vows at Wentworth by the Sea Country Club in Rye New Hampshire, in the company of their family, closest friends and, most importantly, their children. The organization grants wishes for couples facing serious illnesses. With Sarah’s long and brave battle with stage four breast cancer and Colin’s commitment to his career in the military, we couldn’t have found a couple or a family more deserving.

Colin, as a member of the Coast Guard, was assigned to various areas of the United States, so the family has called many places home, but for the past few years the family has lived in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, which is close to their loved ones. Colin, Sarah, and their kids drew inspiration from their seaside surroundings for the vow renewal. Sarah’s favorite flowers, blue hydrangeas and peonies, were interpreted abstractly by Liz, the owner of Someone Creative, who designed the invitations and ceremony programs, which became the design we based the day around. The couple’s love for their Celtic heritage was woven into the details of the day, from the sentiment of the ceremony created by Justice of the Peace, Sharon Curole, to the icing on their gluten-free dairy-free and delicious wedding cake baked and designed by Wild Orchid Bakery.

Note: Sarah and Colin’s 10th anniversary vow renewal was made possible by the New York chapter of Wish Upon a Wedding, who heard their incredibly compelling and special story when Sarah’s friend encouraged her to apply. Wish Upon a Wedding, a 501 c 3 not-for-profit organization supported by thousands of the country’s wedding professionals, grants weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal and serious illnesses. The organization has chapters in cities across the country. To apply for a wish or volunteer services, visit www.wishuponawedding.org

New Hampshire Wedding from Angela Klempner Photography

Lovely is a word that we tend to use a lot at SMP. It just has the nicest ring to it, and it’s a word you feel when you say. Don’t you agree? Well from this moment forward, whenever I think of the word lovely, I’ll think of this New Hampshire wedding from Angela Klempner Photography. Because it just embodies the word, and couldn’t be more charming if it tried – and you can catch every moment right here.

From Angela Klempner PhotographyJust over the Massachusetts border sits the quaint town of Rindge, New Hampshire. Elizabeth and Michael were married in a field at The Meeting School – a former boarding school turned into a working farm CSA. So much of their heart and souls were poured into this event. The maid of honor, Sarah, put together beautiful floral bouquets. Mason jars, homemade table cards, and fresh flowers in different stained glass vases adorned the tables in the decorated barn. White lights and Chinese lanterns hung from the rafters, but what really got me were the paper cranes. 1,000 paper cranes, to be exact.

When Elizabeth was a little girl she had a fascination with origami. She told her mother one day that she was determined to fold 1,000 paper cranes. Her small, ambitious hands grew tired and she was hundreds shy of her goal but slowly forgot about the idea. And then on her wedding day her mother gave her the sweetest gift a mother could give. She had spent months before the wedding folding these cranes for Elizabeth, and on June 15, 2013, she hung 1,000 paper cranes from the rafters of the barn where Elizabeth and Michael had their wedding reception. It was a truly incredible sight.

Elizabeth and Michael’s wedding was joyful, peaceful, and truly beautiful. Everyone chipped in to make the day a success. Musically inclined friends played acoustic tunes for the ceremony music. A close friend of the family baked the cake. The groom’s mother coordinated the decorations, and the bride herself made the dinner for her guests! This day is proof that friends and family can pull together to make a most spectacular wedding! Rustic New Hampshire Wedding at Brass Heart Inn from Tyra Bleek Photography

Even though I happen to be one of the few SMPers that doesn’t reside in the land of beauty known as New England, that doesn’t mean that I don’t truly appreciate just how seriously awesome it is.  Nope, weddings like this one (and a few amazing vacas) have been a constant reminder that no one does pretty, pretty nuptials quite like New Englanders, especially when it’s a rustic love-fest with a few fab contemporary details sprinkled within.  Add in some gorgeous images from Tyra Bleek Photography and a party that couldn’t even be stopped by temperamental electricity and this, my friends, is a wonderful way to spend a Thursday.  See it all in the full gallery.

From Tyra BleekThis was one of my favorite weddings this past year. It was held in New Hampshire at Brass Heart Inn. The couple found this location doing a chocolate cookie tasting tour in New Hampshire. They have some of the best details and got married in a really cute church with a white steeple. The reception decor was amazing. They have a really good story about how the electricity went out for almost two hours during the reception but the party still went on. Just before they were about to excuse everybody to go home, they got word that it was going to be fixed down the road within 15 minutes. Needless to say we celebrated!
