Real Wedding: Jennifer and Trey, III

There is just something lovely about infusing your wedding with traditional touches. I know that we try to feature really unique details on SMP, ideas that push the boundaries of what a wedding “should” be, but…sometimes, it’s those timeless touches that really make a wedding beautiful…

From the bride…

Bella Figura out of New York created our stationery suite and we adored the look and feel of their art.  A calligrapher created the pieces and then they were printed with letterpress.  We chose Bella Figura for the paper (the texture is dreamy!) and the “feel” of the calligrapher’s handwriting.  I loved how it felt casual but was still so pretty.  The owners were wonderful to work with and we heard so many compliments on the suite.

We used the monogram created by the calligrapher at Bella Figura throughout the wedding and reception – on the programs, ring pillow, cake, placecards, linens, menu, and cookie favors.

Doesn’t it seem like we feature a lot of weddings from California and New York? Well, not today my friends! Today’s wedding, in Lexington, Kentucky is all about traditional charm…with a twist of course!

From the bride…

We held our wedding ceremony at a small, country church that holds only 140 people.  The small chapel made the ceremony feel intimate and relaxed.  The wedding ceremony was followed by a reception at the Aviation Museum because my husband loves airplanes and we wanted something a little different than a country club, hotel or restaurant.  No one had hosted a party like our reception there so we faced challenges with set-up and design but it
was worth it!

Jennifer emailed me about a month ago with pictures and details from her recent wedding…and when I saw them, there was just something special there. From her traditional ceremony held in a small chapel in Lexington, Kentucky to her ridiculously great reception at the Kentucky Aviation Museum (complete with airplanes hanging from the ceiling!). And of course, her dress…oh her wedding dress.

From Jennifer…

Trey proposed last February and we decided to plan a wedding for July – three years to the weekend of our first date.  We have both been in many, many weddings and wanted to make sure that our wedding was a true reflection of our personalities and relationship instead of being a cookie cutter event and we wanted to make sure our guests had a great time.  We spent a great deal of time thinking about what we love about where we live (Lexington, Kentucky) and the things that we love to do together and with our friends.

So much more to come!
